  7. Pastor Charlie Branch with a word from

  8. God.

  9. Amen. Take God's word. Turn with me to

  10. the book of Psalms. Psalms division

  11. number 18.

  12. I love that psalm.

  13. Tell you this, we're far be on that.

  14. You say, "What do you what do you mean,

  15. preacher? We're far behind on blessing

  16. his name." Amen.

  17. >> And uh

  18. I'm telling you, he's been better and

  19. good to all of us. You said, "Preacher,

  20. you don't know my situation." I don't

  21. have to.

  22. >> You're right.

  23. >> I don't have to. He's just good. And uh

  24. if you're here this morning, you're in

  25. your right mind. Amen. Uh he's been good

  26. to you.

  27. >> Amen.

  28. >> He's blessed you. And you say,

  29. "Preacher, well, I'm not saved." Well,

  30. if you're here and you can hear what I'm

  31. saying,

  32. >> and you want to be saved.

  33. >> Amen.

  34. >> You can be. Amen.

  35. >> You're blessed this morning. You're

  36. blessed. And I'm blessed. This church is

  37. blessed. And I thank God for it. We

  38. ought to bless his name for it. Amen.

  39. >> Let's stand together. Psalm division

  40. number 18. And uh really just

  41. everything's led up to this point today.

  42. Believe God put this on my heart. You

  43. pray for me. I've just got a simple

  44. thought on my heart and I just want to

  45. be obedient to the Holy Spirit and obey

  46. him. You pray God will help us. Psalm

  47. Psalm 18 verse number one,

  48. David says, "I will love thee, oh Lord,

  49. my strength. The Lord is my rock and my

  50. fortress." Amen.

  51. >> And my deliverer,

  52. >> my God,

  53. >> my strength,

  54. >> in whom I will trust, my buckler, and

  55. the horn of my salvation

  56. and my high tower. And in verse three,

  57. he says, I will call upon the Lord who

  58. is worthy to be praised.

  59. So shall I be saved

  60. >> from mine enemies. Yes.

  61. >> And I want to preach on this subject for

  62. just a little while this morning. David

  63. said, "I will love thee."

  64. >> Amen.

  65. >> I want to preach on that for just a

  66. little while. I will love thee. You

  67. know, I was thinking about yesterday,

  68. Valentine's Day.

  69. I'll tell you what, we we we compare the

  70. love symbol to a heart. Got the church

  71. decorated here. But I tell you this,

  72. much greater than a heart. There was a

  73. symbol on a hill

  74. >> far far away. some 2,000 years ago.

  75. Amen. Two pieces of wood hun together

  76. >> where our Lord hung. And I believe if

  77. there's ever been a symbol of love, it's

  78. the cross. Amen.

  79. >> That's right.

  80. >> And I want to preach this morning on

  81. that thought for just a little while.

  82. And I'm pray that the Lord will help us.

  83. Let's seek the Father. Father, thank you

  84. for this opportunity this morning to

  85. preach your word. Thank you, Father God,

  86. for this precious scripture. And Lord, I

  87. thank you, God, today that you loved us

  88. so much

  89. >> that you would send your son to die in

  90. our place,

  91. >> to take our punishment, to bear our sin,

  92. and to hang on Calvar's cross.

  93. Lord, having done no evil, not deserving

  94. to die, but being pure, holy, spotless,

  95. and undefiled, separate from sinners,

  96. you chose to hang there. And Lord, I

  97. thank you for that. I thank you, God,

  98. today that you love us the same even at

  99. this day. Lord, you love us with a love

  100. that will not stop. And Lord, for that

  101. today, I want to say, I will love thee.

  102. God, I pray that you'll help us to

  103. receive with meekness the engrafted

  104. word. And we'll give you thanks for what

  105. you do because we ask it in Jesus name.

  106. And God's children said,

  107. >> "Amen."

  108. This text this morning, Psalm number 18,

  109. is a parallel text with the book of 2

  110. Samuel chapter number 22. And if you

  111. turn there, what you'll find is in the

  112. last verses of chapter number 21, that

  113. David has just begotten a great victory.

  114. Now, David himself has is up in years

  115. and he's not able to fight the way that

  116. he once could. And David has become

  117. tired, but he's got those men that are

  118. with him. Abashai, the son of Zerui, and

  119. those other men that are fighting with

  120. him, his mighty men. And in that

  121. chapter, chapter number 21, Goliath's

  122. four brothers show up. And David's men

  123. take out the four brothers of Goliath

  124. there in that chapter. And the next

  125. chapter, chapter number 22, is this

  126. psalm that's recorded here in this text.

  127. And it is a psalm of praise. It's a

  128. psalm of praise for deliverance. It's a

  129. psalm of praise for the death, over

  130. those giants. How that God wrought

  131. victory over those enemies. And I'll say

  132. this and just put this out there. Amen.

  133. When Goliath died, that didn't mean

  134. David was done. Amen. The Philistine

  135. army was still there and they were still

  136. ready to fight. And and we find out that

  137. he had four brothers. But I'm thankful

  138. that in passage of time, David was able

  139. to take out all the enemies. And let me

  140. say this, uh, in your life, Jesus is

  141. able to take out all the enemies. Amen.

  142. It might take a little while.

  143. Sanctification is progressive. Amen.

  144. Salvation is immediate, but

  145. sanctification is progressive. And so it

  146. takes him a while. Not because he needs

  147. a while, but just because he wants to

  148. perform it progressively. Amen. And

  149. sanctify you perfectly. And so David

  150. here has come to this point and God has

  151. wrought victory for him time and time

  152. and time again. And Saul was never able

  153. to deliver Israel from the Philistines.

  154. But David discomfeitted them completely.

  155. And all the enemies of God stood at

  156. array against David and his armies. And

  157. David writes this psalm as a psalm of

  158. praise. And here it is pinned in the

  159. heavenly hymn book of the book of

  160. Psalms. And David highlights a lot of

  161. things in this chapter. Now, I want to

  162. stay in verses 1 through3, but I want to

  163. say this here in the text. I'll give you

  164. the outline uh here in just a minute,

  165. but there's a lot of things that David

  166. says in this chapter that reveals his

  167. key to his success. And I I notice here

  168. in this chapter in verse number 32 that

  169. David was girded in this chapter. Look

  170. what the Bible says in Psalm 18 and

  171. verse 32. He said, "It is God that

  172. girthth me with strength and maketh my

  173. way perfect." David fully recognized

  174. that God had enabled him and allowed him

  175. to bring victory to the house of Israel.

  176. And it wasn't his strength. It wasn't

  177. even the men of Israel and that army's

  178. strength. It had nothing to do with his

  179. mighty men, but it had everything to do

  180. with the girding of God Almighty. Amen.

  181. And let me say this to you this morning,

  182. child of God. If there is going to be

  183. victory in your life, if there's going

  184. to be victory in my life, it's going to

  185. come through the girding of strength by

  186. the father. Amen. He wasn't only girded

  187. in verse number 32, but he was guided in

  188. verse number 34. Look what he says. He

  189. teacheth my hands to war so that a bow

  190. of steel is broken by mine arms. Not

  191. only was he girded with strength, but

  192. God guided him in using that strength.

  193. And let me say this to you. Knowledge is

  194. is is strength, but let me say this.

  195. Wisdom is strength that is functionable.

  196. Amen. You you can be as strong as the

  197. world, but if you don't know how to use

  198. that strength, if you don't know how to

  199. be guided in that strength, you'll not

  200. be able to harness that power. But boy,

  201. I'm thankful that God gives us his

  202. power. But he also gives us his plan to

  203. follow by. Amen. He's not left us alone.

  204. Amen. And so because he was guarded with

  205. strength and he was guided by the spirit

  206. of God and by the scriptures the day

  207. David says that he was graceful. Notice

  208. verse number 33. He maketh my feet like

  209. hind's feet and setth me upon high

  210. places. And you know those hinds that's

  211. a that's a deer over there in the Middle

  212. East. And their feet is shaped in such a

  213. way that they're able to climb up the

  214. mountains faces. Amen. and walk in

  215. places where man's not able to walk and

  216. go places where you and I cannot go.

  217. David said because he's girded with me

  218. with strength and he has guided me. He

  219. has made me graceful. Amen.

  220. >> I'll say this to you this morning. If

  221. you're ever going to be graceful in this

  222. Christian life, it's going to be through

  223. his guidance and by his girding. Amen.

  224. >> He's not only graceful, but I want to

  225. give you this and we'll get into the

  226. thought this morning. Did I turn this

  227. thing on, brother? I did. Okay, I'm done

  228. forgetting. Amen. what I've done up

  229. here. He's not only graceful, but notice

  230. verse 35.

  231. David has become great.

  232. Look what he says. Thou hast also given

  233. me the shield of thy salvation, and thy

  234. right hand hath holden me up. Look what

  235. he says. And thy gentleness

  236. hath made me great.

  237. >> Right? The same power that made the

  238. world. The same power that spun the

  239. planets into orbit and flung the stars

  240. out in the sky and made this world what

  241. it is and shaped the mountains and

  242. formed the oceans. And the same hand

  243. that made you and I when we were

  244. conceived in the womb is the very same

  245. hand David said. It's his gentleness.

  246. Isn't it amazing that something so

  247. powerful,

  248. >> something so great in strength, David

  249. said, "You girded me with strength.

  250. You've guided me by your word." And he

  251. said, "Now you've made me great, but

  252. it's not because I'm strong.

  253. >> But it's just because of that tender

  254. touch."

  255. >> Amen.

  256. >> Well, I don't know about you, but I'm

  257. thankful for the tender working.

  258. >> You're right.

  259. >> Of God Almighty. Yeah.

  260. >> Isn't it a wonderful thing that the

  261. hands that hold the universe are able to

  262. touch the smallest places

  263. >> in our life when we're in need, when

  264. we're in need of help? And when we're

  265. hurting, Amen. And and this world's left

  266. us high and dry. Aren't you thankful

  267. that God can reach down to them tender

  268. PLACES IN OUR LIFE? And you know what he

  269. can do? He can make us great. You're

  270. >> right.

  271. >> Amen. I'll tell you this. You'll never

  272. be great in the eyes of God until you're

  273. touched by his hand. Amen. And I think

  274. about David in this chapter. He says

  275. about the Lord here in verse number six

  276. that God heard him. He said, "In my

  277. distress, I called upon the Lord and

  278. cried unto my God. He heard my voice out

  279. of his temple and my cry came before

  280. him." David said, "When I was in

  281. trouble," David said, "When the enemy

  282. was sure to take me away, I cried unto

  283. the Lord and God heard my voice." He

  284. heard the voice of my supplications. You

  285. say, "What is that, preacher?" Well,

  286. that's that hand of Almighty God.

  287. Reaching down when we're tender and when

  288. we're sensitive BECAUSE THE WORLD'S GOT

  289. US in a place where we're in danger.

  290. Amen. God reached down and touched him.

  291. He heard him. Amen.

  292. >> Right.

  293. >> He heard him, but he helped him. Listen

  294. to what he said in verse 16.

  295. He sent me from He sent from above. He

  296. took me. He drew me out of many waters.

  297. >> I'll tell you this. This world's got a

  298. lot of waters.

  299. >> Amen.

  300. >> You and I can drown in.

  301. >> Yeah.

  302. >> But David said when he heard me, he

  303. didn't only just hear me, but he helped

  304. me.

  305. >> You're right.

  306. >> Any of y'all got help in the building

  307. this morning? Amen.

  308. >> Drying up on the vine in here. Amen.

  309. Y'all can say amen. It'll be all right.

  310. He sent from above. He took me. He drew

  311. me out of many waters. Verse 17. He

  312. delivered me from my strong enemy and

  313. from them which hated me. For they,

  314. notice this, were too strong for me.

  315. David said, I wasn't able to stand

  316. against the enemy, but God heard my

  317. prayer. And after he heard my prayer, he

  318. sent his hand. He sent his servant to

  319. help me. And thank God because this

  320. text, he was helped. David was made

  321. holy. The Bible says in verse 20, "The

  322. Lord rewarded me according to my

  323. righteousness, according to the

  324. cleanness of mine hands. Hath he

  325. recompensed me? For I've kept the ways

  326. of the Lord and have not wickedly

  327. departed from my God. Listen to what he

  328. says. God hears him. God helps him and

  329. all of that because he's holy. Look what

  330. he says. Verse 24. Therefore hath the

  331. Lord recompenseed me according to my

  332. righteousness, according to the

  333. cleanness of my hands. In his eyesight?

  334. With a merciful, thou wilt show thyself

  335. merciful. With an upright man, thou wilt

  336. show thyself upright. With the pure,

  337. thou wilt show thyself pure. And with

  338. the thrower, thou wilt show thyself

  339. thrower. What is David saying? David,

  340. he's saying God is perfect in his

  341. dealings.

  342. >> Why is he perfect? Because he's holy.

  343. >> Amen.

  344. >> He's holy in his dealings with man. You

  345. say, preacher, what does this have to do

  346. with the first part of this chapter?

  347. Well, this is why David loves the Lord.

  348. >> You're right.

  349. >> Let me ask you, why do you love him this

  350. morning?

  351. >> Amen.

  352. >> Let me ask you first. Do you love him?

  353. Amen.

  354. >> Amen.

  355. >> Let me ask you this. Why do you love

  356. him?

  357. >> Amen. David lays out some truths in

  358. verses 1 through3. God had guarded him.

  359. God had guided him. And because of that,

  360. David had been made graceful and been

  361. made great. We know he was king. But God

  362. put him there. Amen. David couldn't have

  363. got that in and of himself. That little

  364. ruddy shepherd boy had no right to the

  365. throne apart from the power of almighty

  366. God. But God empowered him and God and

  367. placed him there on the throne. And God

  368. is using him. And David says for that,

  369. he says, "I will love thee." Amen.

  370. >> You know, I thought about that. I was

  371. reading this text. You know, David says

  372. that to the Lord hearing this text, but

  373. I wonder I and and sadly to say, I

  374. wonder, you know, many husbands probably

  375. probably been a while since they've said

  376. that to their wife.

  377. >> Amen.

  378. >> Let me say this to you this morning. If

  379. you don't love your wife, you don't love

  380. God.

  381. >> That's right. Amen.

  382. >> And I was thinking about this text,

  383. David's praise unto the Lord. He says,

  384. "I will love thee." And and I notice in

  385. this text number one the expression of

  386. his love. Look what he says in verse

  387. number one. He says, "I will love thee,

  388. oh Lord, my strength." What is David

  389. saying? What is the expression of his

  390. love? Well, I would say first of all,

  391. the expression of his love was his

  392. words.

  393. >> What David said? And he begins in verse

  394. number two to talk about the Lord and

  395. who he is. He expresses his love through

  396. his words. He expresses his love through

  397. his works. David all these years has

  398. been fighting the enemies of Israel and

  399. God has brought victory and he's saying,

  400. "I will love thee." What is he saying?

  401. Lord, you've brought victory time and

  402. time and time again, but I'm not done

  403. fighting. I'm not going to quit fighting

  404. for your people and I'm not going to

  405. quit standing for you and your holy

  406. mountain. WHAT DAVID IS SAYING IS, "I'LL

  407. PRAISE YOU WITH WHAT I SAY, but I'll

  408. praise you with how I live."

  409. >> You're right. his words, his works, his

  410. witness. He says, "I'll tell others."

  411. What is this psalm recorded for

  412. was for them to sing?

  413. These psalms would be sung as the

  414. children of Israel would go up to the

  415. house of God.

  416. >> Yeah.

  417. >> And David gave this song to the chief

  418. musician there. It says in the heading,

  419. he gave this psalm so that they could

  420. sing of this victory. It's recorded

  421. twice in the word of God. You say,

  422. "Preacher, what are you saying?" And I'm

  423. saying he he expressed his love. The

  424. Bible says, "Oh, lift up your hands in

  425. the sanctuary and bless the Lord, all

  426. you people of the Lord." I said it this

  427. morning. I'll say it again. We're far

  428. behind on blessing the Lord.

  429. >> You say, "Preacher, well, I'm just not

  430. that tight." Well, down at the ball

  431. game, you get wound tight.

  432. >> You're right.

  433. >> Come on.

  434. >> When's the last time you lifted your

  435. hands and praised his name? When's the

  436. last time that you did a work for God,

  437. something that he commanded YOU TO DO?

  438. WHEN'S THE LAST TIME THAT YOU TOLD

  439. SOMEBODY ELSE about the wonder of the

  440. works OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE? WHEN'S THE

  441. LAST TIME THAT YOU SAID, "LORD, I'M

  442. GOING TO LOVE YOU." AMEN.

  443. >> AMEN.

  444. >> Jesus said, John said it this way, and

  445. it was really recording what Jesus said.

  446. He said, "If you love me, you'll keep my

  447. commandments."

  448. >> Right?

  449. >> DAVID SAID, "I WILL LOVE THEE." IT WAS

  450. PERSONAL to David. The expression of his

  451. love. Look what he says. I will love

  452. thee, oh Lord. What does he say? My

  453. strength.

  454. David said, "The operation of my life

  455. and the organization OF MY KINGDOM ONLY

  456. OPERATES UNDERNEATH YOUR BLANKET OF

  457. LEADERSHIP."

  458. >> You're right.

  459. >> Lord, I know if you DIDN'T HAVE YOUR

  460. HAND UPON ME THAT ALL OF THIS WOULD FALL

  461. APART AND THAT IT ALL WOULD COME TO

  462. NOTHING. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU AND I

  463. AND OUR LITTLE LIFE'S NOTHING BUT DUST

  464. AND ASHES WITHOUT THE MOLDING OF GOD'S

  465. ALMIGHTY HAND IF HE DOESN'T HOLD IT

  466. TOGETHER IT'S SURELY GOING TO FALL TO

  467. PIECES AND DAVID SAID I'LL LOVE THEE

  468. BECAUSE YOU'RE MY strength

  469. >> the Bible says in the book of Colossians

  470. chapter number one and by him all things

  471. consist

  472. >> means they're held together by him THE

  473. WORLDS WERE SPUN INTO orbit but not ONLY

  474. IN CREATION HE SUSTAINS THIS WORLD. HE

  475. SUSTAINS YOU AND I. IF IT WERE NOT FOR

  476. HIS HAND, WE WOULD SURELY FALTER.

  477. >> RIGHT?

  478. >> You say, "Preacher, well, I'm a sinner

  479. and I don't believe that this morning."

  480. You don't have to believe it for it TO

  481. BE TRUE. GOD PUTS THE HEART IN YOU TO

  482. BE. HE PUTS THE BREATH IN YOUR LUNGS TO

  483. BREATHE. I'M SAYING, FRIEND, YOU CAN'T

  484. LIVE WITHOUT HIM. You can't live WITHOUT

  485. HIM. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT WITHOUT HIM.

  486. AMEN.

  487. >> And David says the expression of his

  488. love, he says, "I'll tell it. I'll live

  489. it. I'll be it.

  490. >> Amen.

  491. >> It's not just what David said or what

  492. David did, but it's who David was.

  493. >> Yeah.

  494. >> The expression of his love. I think not

  495. only about the expression of his love.

  496. I'm moving quickly this morning. Not

  497. only the expression of his love, but

  498. notice the excellency of his Lord. In

  499. verse two, David said, "The Lord is my

  500. rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

  501. my God, my strength in whom I will

  502. trust, my buckler and the horn of my

  503. salvation and my high tower." David

  504. said, "God is all of these things to

  505. me." What does this mean? Well, he says,

  506. "The Lord is my rock." And that rock

  507. there, you look it up, it means

  508. stability. He gave David stability in

  509. the times of his life when he was

  510. running from Saul. You see, David was a

  511. fugitive on this earth for most of his

  512. life because of the threats that were

  513. upon him. But even amidst all of that

  514. running, David had a rock, a place that

  515. he could run to and find stability. And

  516. I'm thankful that in Jesus, you and I

  517. have A STABLE PLACE. AMEN. FOR OTHER

  518. FOUNDATION CAN NO MAN LAY THAN THAT THAT

  519. IS LAID, WHICH IS CHRIST JESUS. HE IS A

  520. SURE, STABLE FOUNDATION. AMEN.

  521. >> The Lord is my rock. He is my fortress.

  522. He's stability, but he's security.

  523. >> Amen.

  524. >> He's stability through the fight. He is

  525. security from the fight.

  526. >> You're right.

  527. >> David said he gives me a place to hide.

  528. In this chapter just before in chapter

  529. number 17, listen to what he said in

  530. verse number eight. Keep me as the apple

  531. of thine eye. Hide me under the shadow

  532. of thy wings.

  533. >> He got a place to hide.

  534. >> Amen.

  535. >> She said, "I've got something to stand

  536. on when I'm not just standing on him,

  537. >> but I'm hiding behind him."

  538. >> Amen.

  539. >> He's a protector of my life.

  540. >> He gives stability. He gives security.

  541. He not only is the fortress and the

  542. rock, but he is the deliverer. He has a

  543. strategy.

  544. He's got a way for us to go. You're

  545. >> right. Come on.

  546. >> Listen to what David said in Psalm

  547. number 23.

  548. Oh yes, friend. Psalm 23 and verse

  549. number four. Yay. Though I walk through

  550. the valley of the shadow of death, I

  551. will fear no evil, for thou art with me.

  552. >> He knows THE WAY THAT I TAKE. Job said,

  553. >> hallelujah. Bless his name. HE'S GOT A

  554. PLAN. HE HAS A PURPOSE. HE HAS A

  555. STRATEGY. HEY, HE'S THE PLACE WE STAND

  556. ON. He's the building we can stand in.

  557. But he also GIVES US THE ORDER TO FIGHT.

  558. THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE ARE NOT

  559. CARNAL, BUT THEY'RE MIGHTY. THROUGH WHO?

  560. GOD. TO THE PULLING DOWN OF STRONGHOLDS.

  561. I'M SAYING HE IS THE STRATEGY for our

  562. fight.

  563. >> Right.

  564. >> He's my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.

  565. He's my God.

  566. >> Amen.

  567. >> He's my savior. He's my strength.

  568. Notice there in the text, he says, "In

  569. whom I will trust, my buckler." That

  570. buckler there, it literally means a

  571. shield. He's my safety.

  572. >> Amen.

  573. >> Come on.

  574. >> Can't always be in the fortress.

  575. >> Right.

  576. >> Sadly, we're not always on the rock.

  577. >> But I'm thankful that no, no matter

  578. where we may find oursel, we have that

  579. shield.

  580. >> You're right.

  581. >> Amen. Thank you.

  582. >> With us at all times. What is that

  583. shield? He said it's the shield of

  584. faith. Ain't that right?

  585. >> Ephesians says we take it with us

  586. wherever that we go. He is our buckler.

  587. He gives us safety. And then there is

  588. the horn. The horn of salvation. That

  589. horn speaks of strength. The strength of

  590. his salvation. He is deliverance

  591. embodied. And then he says he's my high

  592. tower. He What does that mean? Well, it

  593. means situation. He's put me in a high

  594. place.

  595. What did he say over there in the text?

  596. He maketh my feet like hind's feet.

  597. >> Gets up on them crest of the rock. Amen.

  598. Where it's so high you can't breathe

  599. good.

  600. >> Amen.

  601. >> Where it's so high the enemy can't get

  602. to you.

  603. >> Where it's so high that a weapon is not

  604. going to reach you.

  605. >> Amen.

  606. >> Amen. He puts me in a safe place. He is

  607. my high tower. You say, "Preacher, what

  608. is that?" That's the excellency of his

  609. Lord.

  610. >> Amen.

  611. >> You say, "What does that all that mean?"

  612. He's everything you need. Amen.

  613. >> Amen. He is everything that you need.

  614. Amen. WHATEVER YOU'RE LACKING THIS

  615. MORNING, GOD HAS WHATEVER YOU STAND IN

  616. need of. And boy, I don't know about

  617. you, but I'm thankful every day of my

  618. life, I realize each morning that I get

  619. up that I stand in desperate NEED OF HIS

  620. HELP BECAUSE I CAN'T EVEN WALK WITHOUT

  621. HIM HOLDING MY HAND. I HAVE NO ABILITY.

  622. I HAVE NO OPPORTUNITY. I HAVE NOTHING

  623. WITHOUT HIM. AMEN.

  624. And David said, "He is my rock."

  625. Think about this. David says, "I will."

  626. Three times in these verses. He says, "I

  627. will love thee." In verse one. In verse

  628. two, he says, "In whom I will trust."

  629. And in verse three, he says, "I will

  630. call upon the Lord." You say, "Preacher,

  631. how is that?" David could say, "I will."

  632. Because of who he knew the Lord is.

  633. >> You're right.

  634. >> Look what he says again. He says, "I

  635. will love thee, oh Lord, my strength."

  636. Verse two, what's in them first three

  637. words?

  638. The Lord is

  639. >> Amen.

  640. >> You know why you and I in our life, we

  641. can make choices,

  642. >> come on,

  643. >> that the world says is crazy. The reason

  644. why we can operate in the realm of faith

  645. and live the way God has called us to is

  646. not because we just want to, but just

  647. because of who he is. You're

  648. >> right.

  649. >> David says, "What you've done is good

  650. enough." He said, "But I'm not even

  651. trusting in that. I'm trusting in who

  652. you are.

  653. >> Amen.

  654. >> Amen. I I'm I'm trusting here. It's

  655. David said, "I'm not even trusting in

  656. what you said, but I'm just trusting who

  657. you are."

  658. >> Amen.

  659. >> He's too good to be unwise.

  660. >> Right.

  661. >> Anybody in the house? Amen.

  662. >> God is too holy

  663. >> to leave us to ourselves.

  664. >> GOD IS TOO kind to leave us alone and

  665. forget ABOUT US. I'M SAYING DAVID SAID,

  666. "BECAUSE HE IS, I WILL."

  667. >> AMEN.

  668. >> I WILL LOVE THEE. I WILL TRUST THEE. I

  669. WILL CALL UPON THEE.

  670. >> RIGHT.

  671. >> The expression of his love, the

  672. excellency of his Lord, the expectancy

  673. of his Lord in whom I will trust. Why

  674. could he trust him? Because he'd been

  675. faithful before.

  676. >> Amen.

  677. >> Y'all not hooking up with this this

  678. morning. Amen.

  679. >> He'd been faithful before.

  680. >> He was faithful presently.

  681. >> You're right. Amen. David said, "All

  682. this victory,

  683. >> all these giants, Goliath and all four

  684. of his brothers, all them men,

  685. >> yeah,

  686. >> all of these armies, all of these

  687. battles," David said maybe something

  688. like this, "Through many dangers, toils,

  689. and snares,

  690. >> I have already come."

  691. >> Amen.

  692. >> Grace hath brought me saved thus far,

  693. >> and grace will lead me home. Amen.

  694. >> What I'm saying is as David said, he's

  695. been faithful thus far, but even more,

  696. what he's done, who he is. HE SAYS HE'S

  697. FAITHFUL.

  698. >> AMEN.

  699. >> HE ALONE IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE. AND WHAT

  700. HE'S PROMISED ME IS GREATER THAN I CAN

  701. UNDERSTAND. HE PROMISED ME a kingdom. He

  702. promised ME A SEED. HE PROMISED ME A

  703. SON. HE PROMISED ME A THRONE THAT WOULD

  704. ENDURE FOREVER and ever and ever. AND

  705. DAVID SAYS, "I'LL TRUST HIM because of

  706. that.

  707. the expectancy.

  708. He's been my fortress, my deliverer, and

  709. my strength. He said, "But he will be my

  710. buckler."

  711. >> He will be the horn of my salvation, and

  712. he will be my high tower.

  713. >> Yes.

  714. >> Then notice this, like I said, simple

  715. thought this morning. I'll be done.

  716. Notice not only the expression, the

  717. expectancy, but notice the exclamation

  718. in verse number three.

  719. David said, 'I will call upon the Lord.

  720. He said, 'I will call upon the Lord who

  721. is worthy to be praised.

  722. >> Amen.

  723. >> What is David saying? David here in this

  724. text is leading off with this thought.

  725. He says, look, what's brought me this

  726. far has been my conversation with him.

  727. >> Amen.

  728. >> In the witness of this truth, David is

  729. giving his witness here. He says, I will

  730. call upon the Lord. What does that speak

  731. of? It speaks of his faith. You're

  732. >> right.

  733. I believe.

  734. You know the reason why you don't talk

  735. to God is because you don't believe.

  736. >> It speaks of his faith. It speaks of

  737. fellowship.

  738. >> I'll call upon the Lord. It's God his

  739. father. He wanted HE WANTED FELLOWSHIP

  740. WITH THE MASTER.

  741. >> AMEN.

  742. >> The exclamation

  743. is that HE WOULD CALL UPON GOD. WHY?

  744. BECAUSE he is worthy.

  745. >> Amen.

  746. >> That's right.

  747. Yes, he is. Amen.

  748. >> David says, "Look, I'm not calling upon

  749. him because I need victory this time."

  750. >> Come on.

  751. >> He's already given me the victory.

  752. >> Thank you, Lord.

  753. >> I'm not calling upon him because I need

  754. help this time. He's already helped me.

  755. >> I'M NOT CALLING UPON HIM JUST BECAUSE I

  756. WANT something from him. He's already

  757. GIVEN ME EVERYTHING I WANT MORE. IS

  758. ANYBODY IN THE BUILDING THIS MORNING?

  759. DAVID SAID, "I WILL CALL UPON THE LORD."

  760. WHY? BECAUSE HE IS WORTHY TO BE PRAISED.

  761. HIS SONG WASN'T A SONG OF SAD STORIES.

  762. HIS SONG WAS SAYING, "GOD, YOU'VE DONE

  763. ALL I EVER ASKED AND MORE. YOU'VE BEEN

  764. ALL I'VE EVER WANTED AND MORE. GOD, I

  765. JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU. YOU'RE

  766. WORTHY. YOU'RE WORTHY. YOU'RE WORTHY OF

  767. PRAISE." AMEN.

  768. >> HE SAID, "I'LL CALL UPON THE LORD

  769. BECAUSE HE'S WORTHY." THERE'S A REASON

  770. WHY THE ANGELS NON-STOP IN HEAVEN NEVER

  771. CEASE TO SAY, "WORTHY, WORTHY, WORTHY,

  772. WORTHY IS THE LAMB THAT WAS SLAIN.

  773. HALLELUJAH. ONE OF THESE DAYS WE'LL BOW

  774. AT HIS FEET AND FOR ETERNITY OF ALL

  775. ETERNITIES, WE'LL STAND THERE AND WE'LL

  776. SHOUT, "THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR SAVING MY

  777. SOUL. YOU'RE WORTHY." AMEN.

  778. >> David said, "You've done everything I

  779. want. I JUST WANT TO CALL AND tell you,

  780. you're worthy. You're worthy to be

  781. praised. I bless your name.

  782. I will bless his name.

  783. >> Look what he says.

  784. I will call upon the Lord who is worthy

  785. to be praised. Look what he says. So

  786. shall I be saved from my enemies. Amen.

  787. >> Thank you.

  788. >> David says it's not a request for

  789. deliverance

  790. that's going to save me from my enemy.

  791. >> But he said it's just a revelation of

  792. his deity. It's going to save me.

  793. >> Amen.

  794. >> When you praise his name,

  795. all hell trembles.

  796. >> You're right.

  797. >> When you exalt Jesus and lift him high

  798. and just say, "Lord, I love you."

  799. >> Yeah.

  800. Amen.

  801. >> God says, "Here it is, child."

  802. >> Amen.

  803. >> Yeah. Come on.

  804. >> What is it the psalmist said, "Blessed

  805. be God who daily loadeth us

  806. >> with benefits."

  807. You know why that psalmist was daily

  808. loaded with benefits? Because he daily.

  809. >> Yeah. Come on.

  810. >> Daniel said, "Evening, at noon, morning,

  811. noon, and at night, I'll call unto God."

  812. >> Amen. David said, "Morning, e morning,

  813. noon, and night, I'll call unto God."

  814. And daily,

  815. just as the mana fell in the wilderness

  816. to supply their need, the blessing would

  817. fall.

  818. >> Amen.

  819. >> You say, "Preacher, this is awfully

  820. simple this morning." Yeah, it is. And

  821. you still ain't getting it.

  822. >> The blessing salvation here. See, here's

  823. the thing about this. What I love about

  824. salvation by grace through faith.

  825. You didn't do nothing to earn it. Yeah.

  826. >> You can't do nothing to keep it.

  827. >> That's right.

  828. >> And you can't do nothing to lose it.

  829. >> Amen.

  830. >> And salvation. Here's what this comes

  831. down to. You say, "Preacher, what is

  832. it?" When you come to God

  833. in your heart and in submission,

  834. realizing that you're a sinner and he's

  835. a savior. He's the savior. And you look

  836. to him and all you can say is, "Lord, I

  837. know that I've got to have what you got

  838. to give."

  839. >> Amen.

  840. >> You know what you'll do? You'll

  841. immediately start to praise him. Amen.

  842. >> And as you praise him, God is working

  843. behind the scenes doing everything you

  844. can't do yourself.

  845. >> The Bible says that heath be that he

  846. which hath begun a good work in you

  847. shall perform it under the day of Jesus

  848. Christ.

  849. >> Yeah.

  850. >> And David in this text, his exclamation

  851. here of his liberation is this. He says,

  852. "God's works I'll be delivered when I

  853. just praise him."

  854. >> Amen.

  855. >> You say, "Preacher, my problem's too big

  856. to get deliverance that way."

  857. Let me tell you, if you'll just stop

  858. where you're at.

  859. >> That's right.

  860. >> Yeah.

  861. >> And just look up to heaven and say,

  862. "Lord, I'm going to set it all aside."

  863. >> That's right.

  864. >> Cuz Lord, whether you fix it or not,

  865. whether you take care of it or not,

  866. whether I ever see another victory,

  867. Lord, you're worthy of praise. And I

  868. want to bless your holy name

  869. >> because you're worthy to be exalted and

  870. glorified. You died on Calvary for my

  871. sins to take care of me and save me. And

  872. Lord, that was more than enough.

  873. >> Right?

  874. >> But Lord, I just want to give you praise

  875. for who you are. And you know what

  876. you'll find if you do that?

  877. >> You'll find those problems that seem so

  878. big.

  879. >> That's right.

  880. >> Just start to come down to size. You're

  881. right.

  882. >> You say, "Preacher, what are you

  883. saying?"

  884. David said, "I will love thee."

  885. >> Amen.

  886. >> But my admonition to you is this.

  887. David, long before he ever fought a

  888. battle, hear what I'm saying. David,

  889. long before he ever fought a battle as

  890. the king, when he was out there in the

  891. sheep coat watching after sheep,

  892. >> Yes. His heart was saying,"Lord,

  893. >> Amen.

  894. >> I will love thee."

  895. >> Amen.

  896. >> You know why David was able to say it

  897. this day? Because he'd been saying it

  898. before.

  899. >> You're right.

  900. >> Here's what you need to do today.

  901. You need to make up your mind right now,

  902. regardless of the circumstances.

  903. Say, "Lord, I'm going to bless your

  904. name. I'm going to love you."

  905. >> The world's going to see my love for

  906. you.

  907. >> Amen.

  908. >> You say, "Preacher, I just can't right

  909. now." Well, you'll never do it.

  910. >> Right.

  911. >> If you start now,

  912. down there when the trial gets so hot.

  913. >> Say, "Preacher, it can't get worse. You

  914. better You better buckle up."

  915. >> You're right.

  916. >> Look, I don't I don't I'm not to bear

  917. bad news this morning. I'm telling you,

  918. this life ain't a bed of roses.

  919. >> You're right.

  920. >> And if it's bad, it can get worse.

  921. >> But let me tell you, there's one that

  922. does not change.

  923. >> Right. Amen.

  924. >> And David said, "I will love thee."

  925. >> You know what? Every one of us in here

  926. are very far behind.

  927. >> Amen.

  928. >> As she begins to play this morning and

  929. we all stand, head bows and eyes closed,

  930. I want to ask you, do you love him?

  931. Are you saved? Do you know him this

  932. morning? Let me ask you this, child of

  933. God. Will you love him? Will you let the

  934. world see

  935. Your words, your works, and your witness

  936. are going to declare

  937. whether or not you really love him.

  938. I will love thee.

  939. Oh Lord, my strength.

  940. John said it in 1 John chapter 4 verse

    1 John 4 chapter mention

  941. number 19. And he said, "We love him

  942. because he first loved us."

  943. And let me tell you today, he loves you.

  944. You say, "Preacher, I love the Lord."

  945. Let me ask you, when's the last time you

  946. talked to him?

  947. When's the last time you sat at his feet

  948. and said, "Lord, I don't need anything.

  949. Don't want anything. I just want to come

  950. tell you I love you."

  951. You know what happened in your life if

  952. you said that to him this morning? The

  953. whales of glory would spring up in you.

  954. A smile would come over your face like

  955. you ain't never seen.

  956. You say, "Preacher, you can't promise

  957. that." No, I can.

  958. If you'll just come to him, say, "Lord,

  959. I don't need anything. Lord, I don't

  960. want anything. I just want to say I love

  961. you. I just want to say thank you.

  962. You've brought me safe thus far.

  963. And Lord, I know the only thing that's

  964. brought victory in my life is when I

  965. just decided to stop and praise your

  966. name.

  967. not for taking care OF THE PROBLEM, BUT

  968. LORD, JUST PRAISE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE

  969. AND JUST IN MY HEART TRUST YOU KNOW him

  970. that you're aware of the problem AND

  971. THAT YOU'LL DEAL WITH IT IN YOUR TIME.

  972. HEY CHILD OF GOD, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE

  973. FACT GOD IS AWARE. HE KNOWS WHERE YOU'RE

  974. AT.

  975. >> HE KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED. YOU ARE NOT

  976. ALONE this morning.

  977. You got to make the decision though to

  978. love him.

  979. He loves you.

  980. Let me ask you this this morning.

  981. You say, "Preacher, I'm here today and I

  982. don't know Jesus.
