  23. And members, you're expected. Okay? And

  24. you need to be here. All right? I need

  30. And come on and be be a part of that.

  31. And I'll tell you, you wish you hadn't

  34. Well, I'll tell you this. I know every

  35. day that you've missed up to this point.

  36. Amen. I can tell you when you get to

  37. heaven, if you stay here faithfully for

  38. the rest of your life, you'll regret all

  39. the days that you missed before. Amen.

  40. And so, just be faithful. Amen. And

  41. that's our verse for the year. Amen.

  42. It's required in stewards. Amen. It's

  43. not an option. It's not an option. It's

  44. required. Amen. Uh that you need to be

  45. found faithful. Amen. Let me say this.

  46. You've been you're a steward of the

  47. greatest gift.

  48. >> Amen.

  49. >> That's ever been given to mankind. Amen.

  50. And I appreciate the Lord's blessings

  51. this morning. Matthew's Gospel chapter

  52. number nine. And I want to begin reading

  53. verse number 18. Matthew's Gospel

  54. chapter number nine. And you pray for

  55. us, Lord. Help us this morning and

  56. desire to be a blessing. So you pray God

  57. touch us. Matthew's Gospel chapter 9

  58. verse number 18. You found your place?

  59. Say amen.

  60. >> Amen.

  61. >> Verse number 18. The Bible says, "While

  62. he spake, that's Jesus, these things

  63. unto them, behold, there came a certain

  64. ruler and worshiped him, saying, my

  65. daughter is even now dead. But come and

  66. lay thy hand upon her, and she shall

  67. live." And Jesus arose and followed him.

  68. And so did his disciples. Behold, a

  69. woman which was diseased with an issue

  70. of blood 12 years came behind him and

  71. touched the hem of his garment. For she

  72. said within herself, "If I may but touch

  73. the gar his garment, I shall be whole."

  74. But Jesus turned him about, and when he

  75. saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good

  76. comfort. Thy faith hath made thee whole.

  77. The woman was made whole from that hour.

  78. When Jesus came into the ruler's house,

  79. and saw the minstrels and the people

  80. making a noise, he said unto them, "Give

  81. place, for the maid is not dead, but

  82. sleepeth." They laughed him to scorn.

  83. But when the people were put forth, he

  84. went in and took her by the hand, and

  85. the maid arose. Verse 26, the Bible

  86. says, "And the fame hereof went abroad

  87. into all that land." Let's pray and ask

  88. God to help us this morning. Father,

  89. thank you for the privilege to be in the

  90. house of God today. Thank you for your

  91. mercy and your grace. Thank you, God, so

  92. much for the spirit in which we've

  93. gathered. And Lord, I ask you, God, this

  94. morning that you'd help us remove the

  95. flesh far from us. God, I pray you'd

  96. help us to say nothing that would hinder

  97. the working of the Holy Spirit this

  98. morning. God, I pray you'd help us to

  99. say everything, God, that would draw us

  100. near unto thee. Lord, I pray, God, for

  101. every place that we're inadequate this

  102. morning, I pray, Father, uh, Lord, that

  103. your ability, God, would override our

  104. inadequacy this morning. And God, I pray

  105. that you would move in mighty power in

  106. our midst, save the one that's nearest

  107. hell. And for those that's out of the

  108. will of God, living in sin, I pray you'd

  109. get a hold of their heart this morning

  110. and draw them back to you. And may they

  111. get right with you today before it's too

  112. late. And Lord, I pray God if there's

  113. somebody here today, God, that needs

  114. some encouragement, needs to take

  115. another step of faith today, I pray God,

  116. you'll give them the strength to do that

  117. and be obedient to you out as a result

  118. of this service. And I pray more than

  119. anything, you'll get glory to yourself

  120. because you're worthy. And you alone are

  121. worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

  122. We love you. Thank you for loving us.

  123. Save the sinner today. We give you

  124. thanks for it because we ask it in Jesus

  125. name. God's children said, "Amen. Thank

  126. you for standing. You can be seated.

  127. Matthew's Gospel chapter number nine is

  128. a powerp packed portion of scripture.

  129. And I dealt with a section of this this

  130. morning in our Sunday school hour. And

  131. I've been trying to introduce some of

  132. the messages here uh in Sunday school.

  133. And you give you kind of a two-part deal

  134. this morning. Really, our Sunday school

  135. time didn't have a whole lot to do with

  136. the message that I'm going to share with

  137. you this morning. But I'll say this,

  138. what I dealt with in Sunday school is a

  139. prerequisite for the message that I'm

  140. going to give you this morning. And when

  141. I when I thought about this text this

  142. morning, when you look at chapter number

  143. nine, there's several things that jump

  144. off the page to me. I think, you know,

  145. mainly in this text, the miracles of

  146. Christ are present in this chapter. The

  147. chapter literally begins with Jesus

  148. there having a man brought to him that's

  149. sick of the pausy. And they come there

  150. and bring him to him. And Jesus heals

  151. him, forgives him of his sins, and then

  152. the Pharisees begin to question his

  153. ability to forgive sins. Let me say this

  154. this morning. He's still able to forgive

  155. all sin. Amen. Any sin, there's not a

  156. sin too deep, too dark, or too bad.

  157. Amen. That Jesus cannot handle. Amen.

  158. Let me say this. For whatever guilts

  159. over your head and in your heart this

  160. morning, Jesus can remove that. Amen.

  161. And give you new life. Amen. And I think

  162. about this text. I think about his

  163. miracles. I think about the missions in

  164. this text. You notice in verse number 35

  165. of Matthew chapter 9 that Jesus went

    Matthew 9 chapter mention

  166. about all their cities and villages

  167. teaching in their synagogues and

  168. preaching the gospel of the kingdom.

  169. Verse 36, but when he saw the

  170. multitudes, he was moved with compassion

  171. on them because they fainted and were

  172. scattered abroad as sheep having no

  173. shepherd. And then he makes that famous

  174. statement in verse 37. Then saith he

  175. unto his disciples, the harvest truly is

  176. plenteous, but the laborers are few. And

  177. let me say this this morning, when you

  178. think about his miracles this morning,

  179. the greatest miracle of all is that God

  180. would give us the message of the gospel

  181. and allow us to propagate that message

  182. to a world that's lost and dying without

  183. God. And Jesus, no doubt in my mind as

  184. he held the mult beheld the multitudes

  185. on that Judeian hillside that day, I

  186. there's not a doubt in my mind that

  187. Jesus looked down through the scope of

  188. time and saw you and me when we was lost

  189. in our sin and every sinner that he

  190. would go to Calvar's cross and die for

  191. those multitudes wasn't just present on

  192. that day, but in the prospect of the

  193. future. Jesus saw every sinner, but he

  194. also saw Calvary, that hill that he was

  195. headed to to die for the sins of all

  196. mankind. You say, "Preacher, what are

  197. you saying?" I'm saying the mission of

  198. the heart of God and the heart of Jesus

  199. Christ was that sinners be saved. Amen.

  200. >> But when I think about this text, I

  201. think about his miracles, and we're

  202. going to deal with one of those miracles

  203. here. I think about his missions, but I

  204. I think about his message this morning

  205. in our text. And I want to deal with

  206. that here in just a minute. But I want

  207. to look at this subject this morning,

  208. and I want to talk about a revival of

  209. recovery this morning. A revival of

  210. recovery this morning. What you find in

  211. this text, and I've already read it to

  212. you this morning in your hearing, is

  213. there is a certain ruler in verse number

  214. 18. And the Bible says that his daughter

  215. is fell sick. And of course we notice by

  216. way of introduction in verse number 18

  217. that there first of all the message is

  218. expressed. Notice the dialogue in verse

  219. number 18. While he spake these things

  220. >> unto them. Let me say this. It's still

  221. right to preach.

  222. >> Amen. It's still right to teach the word

  223. of God. It's still right to preach the

  224. word of God. It's still right to witness

  225. to lost souls and sinners. Amen. and

  226. those that's out of the will of God,

  227. it's still right. Don't be afraid of

  228. people's opinions when it comes to your

  229. Christian life. Amen. You live for God

  230. and you let come what may. Amen. People

  231. will think what they will, but I'll tell

  232. you this, we going with God. Amen. Jesus

  233. is preaching. There's the dialogue in

  234. the text. There's the disciples in the

  235. text. They're with Jesus. There are

  236. those that are disputing with him in the

  237. text. We talked about the disciples of

  238. John and the Pharisees in Sunday school

  239. this morning. But let me say this. In

  240. spite of the disputers and despite of

  241. the doubters and despite the in spite of

  242. those who are defiled in our text, the

  243. deliverer is still speaking. Amen. And

  244. let me say this this morning. I don't

  245. care how deep, dark or bad your sin is

  246. this morning. Jesus is going to speak

  247. and you do well to listen this morning.

  248. Amen.

  249. >> Amen.

  250. >> I'll say this in the text. You note the

  251. dialogue in verse number 18. You note

  252. the disciples. But I'll say this. in

  253. spite of the disputers and in spite of

  254. those that's defiled and those that's

  255. doubt. And let me say there's one that's

  256. desperate here in verse number 18. The

  257. Bible says while he spake these things

  258. unto him behold there came a certain

  259. ruler and worshiped him saying my

  260. daughter is even now dead but come and

  261. lay thy hand upon her and she shall

  262. live. Now this man in this text though

  263. obscure in this passage of scripture he

  264. is named to us in the parallel passage

  265. Luke's gospel chapter number eight his

  266. name is J Iris and this ruler J Iris of

  267. the synagogue he is one of the devout

  268. Jews there that are present and and

  269. seemingly in spite of the opposition of

  270. the Pharisees around him he's got a need

  271. that's greater than the doubt of those

  272. that surrounded him and so he comes to

  273. Jesus here in the text and you notice

  274. notice a couple of things by way of

  275. introduction talking about revival this

  276. morning. Notice his prayer in verse

  277. number 18. The Bible says that behold

  278. there came a certain ruler and worshiped

  279. him saying, "My daughter is even now

  280. dead, but come and lay thy hand upon her

  281. and she shall live." Notice some things

  282. about his prayer this morning. You see,

  283. notice in his te in the text. First of

  284. all, there is reverence in verse number

  285. 18. This certain ruler came, what's your

  286. Bible say? and worshiped him. It's a

  287. good way to start your prayer.

  288. >> You're right.

  289. >> Let me say this. It's the only way to

  290. start your prayer.

  291. >> You're right.

  292. >> Is worship and praise and honor unto his

  293. name. If you do not respect him, if you

  294. come to him with your laundry list,

  295. amen, your grocery list of requests,

  296. amen, and you do not first take time to

  297. reverence his name and reverence who he

  298. is, you cannot expect anything to come

  299. from his hand. Amen. I notice not only

  300. his reverence but you notice his reality

  301. in verse number 18. He worshiped him

  302. saying my daughter is even now dead. Now

  303. studying the parallel accounts in the

  304. scripture we find that in Luke chapter 8

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  305. and Mark chapter number five that at

  306. this present time in verse number 18

  307. she's not dead at this moment. But what

  308. he is saying is is that by the time we

  309. get home she's going to be dead. Jesus,

  310. by the time we make it back to where she

  311. is, she is going to be gone, passed on.

  312. Her sickness is nigh unto death, and her

  313. problem is so great that she is going to

  314. be passed on before we can even make it

  315. back. But I'll say this, I'm thankful

  316. that in the midst of this prayer, he

  317. takes time to reverence the Lord. He

  318. takes time to share his reality. But

  319. there's one thing that stands out to me

  320. in this prayer, and that is his resolve.

  321. Notice verse number 18. Look at that

  322. little word there in the middle of the

  323. verse. But Amen. My daughter is even now

  324. dead. But come and lay thy hand upon her

  325. and she shall live. Amen. Job said, "If

  326. a man dies, shall he live again." Boy,

  327. I'm thankful when Jesus shows up. Hey,

  328. we know. Amen. Death's not a period.

  329. Amen. It's not an ending, but thank God

  330. it's a comma for a new life to start.

  331. Amen. Jesus steps up on the scene and

  332. this man's resolve was greater than the

  333. doubt of the Pharisees. This man's

  334. resolve was greater than the death that

  335. was in his daughter's life. I'm saying,

  336. friend, for whatever you need,

  337. whatever's dead or dying in your life,

  338. JESUS IS ABLE TO MEET THAT NEED IF YOU

  339. WILL BELIEVE. AMEN.

  340. >> You say, "What does this have to do with

  341. revival?" Well, I'm going to give you

  342. the story this morning, but the little

  343. girl gets up,

  344. >> right?

  345. >> She comes to life again.

  346. >> Amen. You know what? That's what some of

  347. you need this morning.

  348. >> Come on.

  349. >> You know what you are? You're a

  350. spiritual deadbeat.

  351. Oo, that was hard, wasn't it? You're

  352. dead. You say, "How is that, preacher?"

  353. Well, you ain't saying amen. That's

  354. >> right.

  355. >> Somebody help me preach this morning.

  356. Amen. I'm telling you this. Jesus will

  357. help me if nobody else will. Amen. His

  358. prayer was a prayer of reverence. But

  359. I'll tell you this, he revealed his

  360. reality here that he had a need that was

  361. bigger than him. Let me tell YOU THIS.

  362. EVERY ONE OF US IN HERE HAS got a need

  363. that's bigger THAN WE ARE. WE HAVE NO

  364. ABILITY TO GET INTO HIS PRESENCE. AND

  365. WITHOUT HIM, WE HAVE NO OPPORTUNITY to

  366. get there. Let me say this to you this

  367. morning. It's time some of us embrace

  368. our reality and get a little resolve

  369. about us. THAT WE GOING TO GO TO WHERE

  370. HE IS AND SAY, "LORD, I'M NOT LEAVING

  371. TILL YOU HELP ME." AMEN.

  372. >> Jacob said, "I'm not going to let the

  373. let you go except you bless me." Amen.

  374. And his prayer in this text, HE SAID,

  375. "LORD, I KNOW SHE'S RIGHT NOW DEAD.

  376. SHE'S PROBABLY DYING AT THIS VERY

  377. MOMENT, BUT LORD, I know if you'll SHOW

  378. UP, YOU CAN TAKE care of it." AMEN. AND

  379. HE'S STILL ABLE. HE'S STILL ABLE. HE'S

  380. STILL ABLE TO DO EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY

  381. ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK,

  382. ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKKETH in

  383. us. Amen.

  384. >> He's able. Amen.

  385. >> His prayer. But I noticed this. All

  386. right. You say, "Preacher, this is awful

  387. generic." Well, it's fixing to not get

  388. generic. Listen to me. All right. Verse

  389. number Notice what verse 19 says. And

  390. Jesus arose. Notice this. And followed

  391. him.

  392. >> Now, that might not catch your eye right

  393. off the bat. Well, let me say this. This

  394. boy's prayer got heaven's attention.

  395. >> Amen.

  396. >> Matter of fact, this boy's prayer got

  397. heaven on earth's attention. Amen. Don't

  398. know how to say that, but I made it

  399. work. Amen. He got Jesus attention. You

  400. say, "What is that?" Well, I notice his

  401. prayer in verse number 18, but you see

  402. his path in verse number 19. This man

  403. starts home and who's following him?

  404. >> Jesus is. You know what I thought about

  405. this, brother M, as I was reading this

  406. this afternoon. You know what we spend?

  407. So, you know, we we talk about, man, I

  408. just want to follow Jesus. I just want

  409. to follow Jesus. But you know what this

  410. man was doing? Jesus was following him.

  411. You're

  412. >> right.

  413. >> You say, what's the emphasis of that,

  414. preacher? Well, you see, there was

  415. somebody that had a need back at his

  416. house. Amen. and he knew the pathway

  417. home. You say, "Well, Jesus knew the

  418. pathway home, preacher, but this man was

  419. the one that went to God. Get him."

  420. Amen. And bring him back home with him.

  421. What are you saying? I'M SAYING IF JESUS

  422. followed you this morning, where would

  423. you take him to?

  424. >> That's good. Come on.

  425. >> Oh my friend.

  426. >> If Jesus were to follow you, would he

  427. find somebody at the end of your journey

  428. that had a need? I'm saying, how many of

  429. us took Jesus to somebody this past week

  430. that had a need? THEY NEEDED SALVATION.

  431. THEY NEEDED GRACE. THEY NEEDED STRENGTH.

  432. THEY NEEDED ENCOURAGEMENT. How many of

  433. you took JESUS TO SOMEBODY THAT COULD

  434. NOT HELP HIMSELF? AMEN.

  435. >> Let me say this in direct application of

  436. the text. Jesus here is following this

  437. man home because he's going to his house

  438. to meet the direct need of the moment.

  439. Let me say this. Daddy, you are the

  440. Christ of your home and is your job as

  441. the father, as the daddy, AS THE

  442. HUSBAND. AMEN. TO MAKE SURE THAT JESUS

  443. MAKES IT TO YOUR HOUSE. AMEN.

  444. >> And if daddy WON'T DO IT, MAMA, PLEASE

  445. STEP UP AND MAKE SURE THAT JESUS GETS TO

  446. YOUR HOUSE. YOU SAY, "WHY IS IT,

  447. PREACHER?" WELL, THAT DAUGHTER, that son

  448. that you've GOT IS LOST WITHOUT GOD.

  449. THEY'RE RIGHT NOW DEAD. ARE YOU HEARING

  450. THE PREACHER THIS MORNING? I'M SAYING IF

  451. SOMEBODY DON'T BRING JESUS BACK HOME, IF

  452. SOMEBODY DON'T GET ON THE PATH BACK HOME

  453. WITH JESUS FOLLOWING, JESUS WILL NEVER

  454. COME BY YOUR HOUSE. AMEN.

  455. >> YES.

  456. >> He gets on the path going back home and

  457. Jesus is following him. But you see

  458. there something arises on the way.

  459. >> You see his prayer. Let me say this.

  460. There sometimes there's a lot of diff

  461. distance between the prayer and the

  462. answer.

  463. >> You're right. Sometimes there's a lot of

  464. time between the prayer and the answer.

  465. >> As a little old lady went to heaven

  466. >> from our church

  467. 40 years

  468. she prayed. That's right.

  469. >> For her family,

  470. >> prayed for her husband,

  471. >> right?

  472. >> 40 years. Took all almost pretty much

  473. all her life praying that God would save

  474. them. God bring her children back. We

  475. got to listen to her son testify this

  476. week. thanking God.

  477. >> Amen.

  478. >> For protecting them, thanking God for

  479. his wife and how God was going to bring

  480. them through this season of their life.

  481. And I just thought to myself, man,

  482. aren't you thankful that somebody

  483. brought Jesus BACK HOME WITH THEM? AMEN.

  484. BROUGHT JESUS TO THEIR HOUSE AND GOT

  485. SOME HELP FOR THEIR FAMILY WHEN THEY

  486. WASN'T SMART ENOUGH TO GET IT FOR

  487. THEIREL. YOU SAY, "HOW IS IT, PREACHER?"

  488. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US AT SOME POINT IN

  489. OUR LIFE, WE WERE NOT GOING TO SEEK HELP

  490. ON OUR OWN. BUT AREN'T YOU THANKFUL THAT

  491. SOMEBODY PRAYED FOR YOU? SOMEBODY

  492. BROUGHT JESUS TO WHERE you were at.

  493. Amen.

  494. >> But I noticed this verse 20. You see his

  495. prayer. You see his path, but you not

  496. his patience in this text. And I use

  497. this text for a reason. The other Luke's

  498. gospel and Mark's gospel give a lot more

  499. to this. And I wanted to be simple this

  500. morning. But you see on that path home,

  501. he he he encounters somebody. Yeah.

  502. >> The Bible said in verse 20, "Behold, a

  503. woman which was diseased with an issue

  504. of blood 12 years came behind him and

  505. touched the hem of his garment."

  506. >> You know the story, there's a disease.

  507. Her desire, verse 21, for she said

  508. within herself, "If I may but touch his

  509. garment, I shall be whole."

  510. >> The same faith that Jirus had to raise

  511. his daughter is the very same faith that

  512. she had that she knew if she could just

  513. get to Jesus and just touch not Jesus,

  514. but just something that was touching

  515. him. Amen. old friend. You get the image

  516. of that? Amen. If we'll just get a hold

  517. of Jesus, Amen. and take a hold of

  518. somebody else, Jesus can. Man, I'm

  519. telling you, friend, SHE GOT A HOLD to

  520. the HEM OF HIS GARMENT. AND what happens

  521. in the text? Hey, friend, there's

  522. deliverance. Look what the Bible says.

  523. Verse 22. But Jesus turned about when he

  524. saw her, he said, daughter, be of good

  525. comfort. Thy faith hath made thee whole.

  526. And the woman was made whole from that

  527. hour. You say, preacher, what's

  528. significant about that story? Well, I'd

  529. say two things about that story here are

  530. significant. I think the age is

  531. significant. The Bible says that she had

  532. an issue of blood for 12 years.

  533. Now, you turn to the parallel account of

  534. this, you'll find out that little girl

  535. was 12 years old. You say, "Preacher,

  536. what's else significant about that?"

  537. Well, a relationship's significant. Look

  538. what the Bible says in verse 18. There

  539. came a certain ruler and worshiped him,

  540. saying, "My daughter."

  541. Notice verse number 20. Verse number 22.

  542. But Jesus turned him about and when he

  543. saw her, he said, "What?"

  544. Daughter

  545. >> be of good comfort.

  546. >> You say, "What is that, preacher?" Well,

  547. that J Iris, that ruler was on the way

  548. home to his daughter with Jesus.

  549. >> Yeah.

  550. >> But on the way, there was one of Jesus

  551. daughters.

  552. >> Amen.

  553. >> Come on.

  554. >> That needed some help.

  555. >> That's right. And you know what

  556. happened? Jesus took a little time out.

  557. >> Yeah.

  558. >> Stop and say, "Honey, it's all right."

  559. >> That's right.

  560. >> I don't know about you, and I'm not I'm

  561. not big on on reading into a text. Amen.

  562. I hate it. Okay. But I'll tell you this.

  563. I wonder if J Iris looked at Jesus when

  564. he did that. Heard that word come out of

  565. his mouth, "Daughter,

  566. >> be of good comfort." I wonder if a peace

  567. come over his heart. You say, "How is it

  568. that he was patient?" Do you see

  569. anywhere in the text where he

  570. complained?

  571. >> Amen.

  572. >> You're right.

  573. >> Oh my soul. Somebody help me preach this

  574. morning. Do you see anywhere in the text

  575. where J IRIS SAID, "JESUS, WHAT ARE YOU

  576. DOING? WHY ARE YOU STOPPING? SHE'S NOW

  577. DEAD. JESUS, WE'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT

  578. IN TIME." Don't see it a single time.

  579. >> Right?

  580. >> Mark's account in chapter 5, Luke's

  581. account in chapter 8. Not a single time

  582. does J. Irish complain.

  583. >> Jesus had to stop and take care of some

  584. business. Let me say this to you this

  585. morning. Of course, we know Jesus was

  586. literally physically walking in this

  587. text, but just know just because your

  588. prayer is not getting answered yet,

  589. Jesus is on his way.

  590. >> Amen.

  591. >> Amen. He's on his way. You say, "Did he

  592. have to stop and help somebody else?"

  593. No. He can help you anytime that he

  594. wants to. Amen. Jesus could have healed

  595. that little girl without even walking

  596. away. You remember that rich that ruler,

  597. that centurion that had a servant, a

  598. man, that was sick. And what did he say?

  599. He said, "Lord, I'm not worthy that you

  600. should even come under my roof, BUT JUST

  601. SPEAK A word and my servant will be

  602. healed." You remember what the Bible

  603. said? Jesus said his faith, he

  604. recognized his faith and what he do. He

  605. healed that boy, not ever laying eyes on

  606. him. I'm saying Jesus can TAKE CARE OF

  607. YOUR PROBLEM. AMEN. IF YOU'LL JUST BE

  608. PATIENT WITH HIM. AMEN.

  609. >> But you know what? It was on the path.

  610. Here's what you're going to find. On the

  611. path to home, you know what you're going

  612. to do? You're going to meet other people

  613. that have needs.

  614. >> You're right.

  615. >> On the path to bring Jesus home, you're

  616. going to meet people on that way that's

  617. going to need the same Jesus you're

  618. trying to take home.

  619. >> You're right.

  620. >> Oh man, that's good preaching this

  621. morning. I'm telling you, I'm It ain't

  622. cuz I'm doing it either. Amen. I noticed

  623. this in the text and I'm moving. Amen.

  624. You see his patience in the text.

  625. Doesn't complain at all. Let me say this

  626. to you, church. When God's not working

  627. the way you want him to, don't complain.

  628. >> That's right. You just say, "Lord, I

  629. know what I I don't know what you're

  630. doing, but Lord, I know who you are."

  631. >> You're right.

  632. >> And Lord, I can't trace your hand, but I

  633. will trust your heart. Amen. I know

  634. you've got my best interest in mind,

  635. whether this all works out or whether it

  636. doesn't. God, I know it'll be your will

  637. either way. Amen. AND I'LL JUST TRUST

  638. YOU. AMEN. HEY, BE PATIENT IN THAT TIME

  639. OF WAITING. IF YOU'VE MADE YOUR PRAYER

  640. AND YOU'RE ON THE PATHWAY HOME, YOU JUST

  641. KNOW THAT GOD WILL MEET you there. Amen.

  642. Notice this in the text, and I'll get

  643. into the message this morning. Notice

  644. his place in verse 23. And when Jesus

  645. came, notice that into the ruler's

  646. house. He's made it home.

  647. Now, what happens? I'm talking about

  648. revival. You know what revival is?

  649. Revival is personal.

  650. >> That's right.

  651. >> If you're going to have revival, it's

  652. going to have to start in here.

  653. >> Amen.

  654. >> Amen. Notice what happens in this text.

  655. The Bible says there in verse 23 verse

  656. he number one you see at this place what

  657. Jesus saw. Look what the Bible says.

  658. When Jesus came into the ruler's house

  659. and saw the minstrels and the people

  660. making a noise. You know what this is?

  661. This is the Jewish ceremony of death.

  662. >> This is Jewish funeral. What they would

  663. do is is there would be family there

  664. weeping and mourning of course for

  665. death. and the climate there in this

  666. land, the Middle East, as soon as a body

  667. would pass on, they would immediately

  668. have the the funeral because, you know,

  669. the their ability to inbomb and all of

  670. that just wasn't the way it is now and

  671. preserve the body. And so, they would

  672. immediately begin the funeral and daddy

  673. gets home and they're already singing.

  674. You imagine coming down the road, those

  675. open

  676. >> doored houses, no windows, no doors, and

  677. what does he hear? He heals the weeping

  678. of those mourers that are hired to

  679. grieve the loss of those that were dead.

  680. You say, "Preacher, that's terrible.

  681. That's just the culture." Amen. That's

  682. just the way it was. They hired mourers

  683. that went to these these funerals. And

  684. you see that he saw them in verse 23.

  685. And notice what he said in verse 24. He

  686. said unto them, "Give place, for the

  687. maid is not dead, but sleepeth."

  688. >> They laughed him to scorn. Now, what's

  689. Jesus saying? You say, "Preacher, that

  690. she's dead." She is dead. Jesus in the

  691. same occasion when Lazarus was dead. The

  692. Bible says that, you know, he he told

  693. his disciples, "What do you tell him?"

  694. He said, "I go to wake L. He's he's

  695. asleep and I go to awake him." That's

  696. >> right.

  697. >> And the disciples said, "Lord, if he'd

  698. be asleep, he'd do well." And Jesus said

  699. to him plainly, "The Bible says he's

  700. dead." What was it? What's the truth

  701. he's teaching them? That this body was

  702. just asleep. That's

  703. >> right.

  704. >> Amen. We don't believe in soul sleep

  705. this morning. That's not what I'm

  706. talking about. But in comparison to the

  707. power of God, death is just sleep.

  708. >> You're right.

  709. >> And so what happens? Jesus comes to this

  710. house. He sees the mourers. He hears the

  711. music. Verse 24, he says, look what he

  712. says. Give place. What does that mean?

  713. Y'all back up a little bit. Amen. You

  714. say, "What is that, preacher?" Well,

  715. when Jesus comes down to your house,

  716. he's going to move some things out of

  717. the way.

  718. >> You're right.

  719. >> Amen.

  720. >> He have to He may have to move some

  721. people out of the way. You're right.

  722. >> He have to may have to move some

  723. programs,

  724. >> you're right,

  725. >> out of the way.

  726. >> Come on.

  727. >> He He may have to move some of the

  728. operation of your life out of the way.

  729. Notice what happens in this text. You

  730. see, they're already mourning. She's

  731. dead. They're going on about their daily

  732. life. They're mourning. Verse number 24,

  733. he says to them, they, you know, give

  734. place. The maid's not dead, but

  735. sleepeth. Notice this. And they laughed

  736. him to scorn.

  737. They mocked him. Why is that? Because

  738. these mourers were hirelings.

  739. They were actors,

  740. >> right?

  741. >> They didn't really care. That's right.

  742. >> They were paid to be there.

  743. >> You say, "What's the emphasis of that?"

  744. Well, I'm talking about revival.

  745. When Jesus shows up, you know what's

  746. happen? What happens? Those that's not

  747. real reveal themselves.

  748. >> Right.

  749. >> Amen.

  750. >> Oh, friend.

  751. >> Come on.

  752. >> That's right.

  753. >> When Jesus shows up and he's going to do

  754. a work, you know what happens? Those

  755. that really don't care, they show

  756. themselves.

  757. It shows who's real and who's not.

  758. Notice this. I give you the message.

  759. It's going to be short. I've built a big

  760. old foundation. I'm going to put a

  761. teepee on it. All right. You see what he

  762. saw at the house. You see what he said

  763. at the house. But notice where he

  764. started when he got to the house in

  765. verse 25. Look at look at that first

  766. phrase. But when the people were put

  767. forth, he said give place. You know what

  768. had to happen? There was some people

  769. that had to get out.

  770. >> Right?

  771. >> Look at it again. First of all, in the

  772. message this morning, I'd say if you're

  773. going to have revival, there's got to be

  774. an exit.

  775. >> Right?

  776. >> Now, I know we don't like that this

  777. morning, but it's it's in the text. But

  778. when the people were put forth, what is

  779. the exit of? Well, it's of the

  780. hypocrites,

  781. >> right?

  782. >> It's of the actors, those that's not

  783. real, those that aren't going to be

  784. saved. And you say, "Preacher, well, as

  785. long as somebody's lost and they're in

  786. the house of God, they're in a good

  787. place." Here's the truth about this. All

  788. what you need to know this morning. An

  789. apostate who has been in the house of

  790. God for 20, 30, 40 years or however long

  791. it is, whatever it is, if they've been

  792. there that long and they still haven't

  793. got saved, sometimes the best thing they

  794. can do is get out and quit messing up

  795. the house of God.

  796. >> You're right.

  797. >> You say, "What's the truth about that?"

  798. Here's the truth about that. THEY'RE NOT

  799. SAVED YET. PROBABLY NOT EVER GOING TO

  800. BE. And what they're doing is hindering

  801. other people from getting saved.

  802. >> They're hindering OTHER PEOPLE FROM

  803. BEING SAVED. and they're hindering the

  804. saved people from being joyous.

  805. >> Amen.

  806. >> Amen. That's good preaching this

  807. morning. I'm saying he there's an exit.

  808. There has to be some hypocrites that

  809. have to get out of the way. And who's

  810. the one that does the removing?

  811. Notice it again. Verse 25. But when the

  812. people were put forth, you know what

  813. they were doing? They were laughing at

  814. him. You say, "What were they laughing

  815. at, preacher?" They were laughing at his

  816. word.

  817. >> That's right.

  818. >> Notice it again. He said unto them,

  819. "Give place, for the maid is not dead,

  820. but sleepeth." What do they do? They

  821. laugh at him. They laugh at his word.

  822. You know what the hypocrite does?

  823. Somebody that's apostate, never going to

  824. be saved. They mock at his word.

  825. >> Oh, preacher, it don't really mean that.

  826. You're just swelling that

  827. >> preacher. We don't really believe that.

  828. You don't really believe that, preacher.

  829. You mean that's right? You're trying to

  830. tell me that I've got to live like that

  831. and be like that and do that to be

  832. saved. No. No. I don't add no works to

  833. salvation. But I'll tell you this, if

  834. you are saved, there's going to be some

  835. things that just come along with it.

  836. Amen. The hypocrites HAVE TO GET OUT OF

  837. THE WAY. AMEN.

  838. >> AMEN.

  839. >> Come on.

  840. >> I'm talking about revival. If we want to

  841. have real revival, the hypocrites, those

  842. that mock at the word of God, those that

  843. laugh when the preacher gives the

  844. message. Jesus gave the diagnosis. Amen.

  845. But they didn't like what he had to say.

  846. And so, you know what happened? They got

  847. to get out,

  848. >> right?

  849. >> I'm just preaching this morning. You

  850. notice the exit of the hypocrites. Verse

  851. 25. But notice what happens. And I love

  852. this, brother Matt. The Bible is written

  853. this way for a reason. Amen. Look what

  854. the Bible says. But when the people were

  855. put forth, what's the next three words?

  856. He went in.

  857. At the same time,

  858. all them actors was exiting. All them

  859. paid performers was walking out and

  860. getting out of the way. You know what

  861. was happening? Jesus was stepping back

  862. into the situation. Amen. He got to the

  863. house and he looked at Jay Iris and

  864. said, "All right, this is what's going

  865. to have to be. You're going to have to

  866. get them out of the way. She ain't

  867. really, she's not really dead." Amen.

  868. She just needs some help from me. Amen.

  869. Oh, friend. Hallelujah. Boy, I'm

  870. thankful that when Jesus looks at A

  871. SINNER, YES, THEY ARE DEAD. But aren't

  872. you thankful IN LIGHT OF THE CROSS, in

  873. light of Calvary, Jesus looks at them

  874. and he says, "Oh, friend," he don't he

  875. don't see the judgment. He sees the

  876. possibility. Amen. He sees what THEY CAN

  877. BE, WHO THEY'RE GOING TO BE. AMEN. HE

  878. SEES THE FUTURE, AND HE SAYS, "ALL

  879. RIGHT, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GET all

  880. these others out of the way."

  881. >> That's right.

  882. >> Amen, friend. He looks at them, and the

  883. Bible says, "When they were put forth,

  884. then he goes in." Let me say this, it's

  885. only on the precipice when they get out.

  886. >> You're right.

  887. >> He doesn't go in till they get out.

  888. >> Why? Because there ain't enough room.

  889. >> That's good.

  890. You say, "Preacher, there's plenty seats

  891. in here." I know what I'm talking about.

  892. >> I'm talking about room for the Holy

  893. Ghost of God to work.

  894. >> Amen.

  895. >> You see, Jesus steps in the entrance. He

  896. enters into the situation here in the

  897. text. And what does he do? You notice

  898. not only the exit and the entrance, but

  899. notice the embrace in verse 25. But when

  900. the people were put forth, he went in.

  901. Notice this. Nobody had to ask which one

  902. was dead.

  903. >> Amen.

  904. >> When Jesus walked in, Amen. She was

  905. laying over there and everybody knew.

  906. Let me say this to you this morning.

  907. Just as clear as it was to Jesus in this

  908. text that that LITTLE GIRL WAS DEAD, he

  909. knows everybody in here that's lost. He

  910. knows everybody IN HERE THAT'S SAVED.

  911. AMEN. And he CAN POINT YOU OUT. WE MAY

  912. NOT KNOW IT THIS MORNING, BUT I CAN

  913. ASSURE YOU HE DOES. AN OLD FRIEND. HE'LL

  914. MOVE EVERYBODY ELSE OUT OF THE WAY. AND

  915. HE'LL COME TO YOUR BEDSIDE. HE'LL COME

  916. TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU'RE LAYING DEAD

  917. WITHOUT GOD. WHERE YOU'RE LAYING WITH NO

  918. LIFE IN YOU, NOT KNOWING JESUS CHRIST.

  919. AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE'LL DO?

  920. >> RIGHT.

  921. >> Come on.

  922. >> I'm telling you, I about lost my mind

  923. studying this. Amen. Look what he says.

  924. Verse number 25, the Bible says, "He

  925. went in and took her by the hand." Jesus

  926. reached down his hand for this little

  927. maiden, 12 years old. What does he do?

  928. The moment he clasped her hand, what

  929. does the Bible say?

  930. >> And she arose.

  931. >> Amen.

  932. >> I like that old song. Talks about that

  933. old violin.

  934. >> Yeah.

  935. >> That violin was brought into the pawn

  936. shop. You've all heard it. Says worth1,

  937. two, three dollars. Amen.

  938. The man comes in there and he gets hold

  939. of that violin's all dusty and beat up

  940. and he starts playing that violin on

  941. that I guess it's an auction and the

  942. bids go from one $2. It goes from 1,000

  943. 2,000 3,000 and the song ends. It says

  944. it's just the touch of the master's

  945. hand.

  946. >> Amen.

  947. >> You see the value of a soul is not the

  948. value of a soul itself.

  949. >> Amen.

  950. >> But it's the value of whose hand it's

  951. in. You're right.

  952. >> You and I ain't worth a thing.

  953. >> Amen.

  954. >> You said, "Preacher, I thought you

  955. supposed to be encouraging." No, I'm

  956. telling you the truth. Amen.

  957. >> You and I ain't worth the God blessed

  958. thing. Amen. Hey, friend. If it was if

  959. it was left up to us to live our life,

  960. we die and go to hell and burn just like

  961. every sinner and every devil that's been

  962. in history. Let me tell you something.

  963. Jesus saw something.

  964. >> Amen.

  965. >> Amen. And here's the thing about it.

  966. Every sinner that dies and goes to hell,

  967. Jesus got a plan for them, too. That's

  968. right.

  969. >> Amen. They just didn't receive his plan.

  970. >> Amen.

  971. >> But I'll tell you this, he walked into

  972. that house that day. His entrance

  973. brought about an embrace. And who did he

  974. embrace? He embraced that little girl.

  975. And the moment that his hand clashed in

  976. hers, she arose up to to new life. Amen.

  977. She's restored. She's revived. And you

  978. say, "Preacher, what's the emphasis?"

  979. I'm saying she'd have never been revived

  980. if daddy hadn't went and got Jesus.

  981. Amen. If daddy HADN'T COME TO WHERE

  982. JESUS WAS AND GOT JESUS AND STARTED ON

  983. THAT PATHWAY HOME, HE MADE A PRAYER. HE

  984. SHOWED HIS FAITH. LORD, I KNOW I WORSHIP

  985. YOU. I PRAISE YOUR NAME. BUT LORD, I GOT

  986. A PROBLEM I CAN'T FIX. I GOT A SITUATION

  987. MY DAUGHTER'S NOW DEAD. AND THE BIBLE

  988. SAYS, HE SAYS, LORD, I KNOW that you can

  989. TAKE CARE OF THIS. I BELIEVE THAT YOU

  990. CAN HANDLE IT. AND SO WHAT DOES HE DO?

  991. HE GETS JESUS BY THE HAND AND THEY START

  992. HOME. AMEN. And what happens when they

  993. get home? The same HAND THAT THAT

  994. FOLLOWED THAT MAN ALL THE WAY HOME is

  995. the SAME HAND THAT PICKED UP HIS LITTLE

  996. GIRL AND BREATHED NEW LIFE INTO HER. YOU

  997. SAY, "HOW IS IT, PREACHER?" WELL, IN THE

  998. WOMB WHEN THAT WOMAN CONCEIVED WITH THIS

  999. LITTLE GIRL, IT WAS THE SAME HOLE

1000. FRIEND, THE SAME mouth that breathed

1001. life into THAT CONCEPTION IS THE SAME

1002. HAND, FRIEND, THAT STEPPED INTO HER LIFE

  1003. AND REVIVED HER. AMEN.

  1004. I'm

  1005. >> talking about a revival.

1006. There have to be an exit.

1007. He's got to make an entrance.

  1008. >> You're right.

1009. >> But there's going to have to be an

  1010. embrace.

  1011. >> Notice the excitement.

1012. There's new life in the text.

1013. But what happens after this revival?

  1014. Verse 26. What's your Bible say?

  1015. And the fame hereof

1016. went abroad into all that land.

1017. You want to know how you measure true

  1018. revival?

1019. >> I've heard of a lot of good meetings

  1020. down through the years.

1021. And this is what I hear about most of

1022. them. Well, we had 70 people get saved

  1023. in that meeting.

  1024. >> We had 40, 50, 60, 70 people get saved

1025. in that meeting. And you know, I think

  1026. to myself, that's great.

  1027. >> Y

1028. >> glory to God. Praise the Lord. That's

1029. wonderful. But when you look at the

1030. amount of people that they say got saved

  1031. in that meeting,

  1032. >> come on.

1033. >> And how many of them still in church?

  1034. >> Amen.

1035. >> You say, "Preacher, how can you judge a

1036. revival meeting by by that?" Let me say

1037. this. When Jesus saves somebody, he

  1038. saves them to last.

1039. >> When he saves you, he seals you.

  1040. >> Right?

1041. >> I tell you this, we ought not ever judge

1042. a revival meeting by how many people get

  1043. saved.

  1044. >> Right?

1045. There's churches all over this country

1046. that preachers will preach in a big

1047. emotionalistic move and the same people

1048. will get saved every year.

1049. >> Let me tell you, God's not pleased with

  1050. that. That's

  1051. >> right.

1052. Cuz you know what that is?

1053. That's putting Christ on the cross

  1054. again.

  1055. >> You're right.

1056. >> Well, I'm going to get it some point in

  1057. time.

1058. I'll get it settled some way, preacher.

1059. Now, let me tell you how you get it

  1060. settled. It ain't in a meeting.

  1061. >> You're right.

1062. >> It's not talking to some man.

1063. >> It's not going around asking a bunch of

1064. questions and, you know, trying to find

1065. what day it was or your name on a roll

1066. at some church 40 years ago where you

1067. got saved. That ain't got nothing to do

  1068. with it.

  1069. >> That's right.

1070. >> It ain't got nothing to do with an

  1071. experience that you had.

  1072. >> Oh, friend, I'm meddling now, ain't it?

1073. >> It ain't got nothing to do where you was

1074. at, what you said, or even who you are.

  1075. >> Yeah, you're right. Here's what

1076. salvation is. It's two words. Jesus

  1077. Christ,

  1078. >> right?

1079. >> And you know what salvation is? Is when

1080. God in your mind turns the light on

1081. said look what Jes what what God say?

  1082. Isaiah 45:22.

    Isaiah 45:22

1083. Look unto me and be ye saved. All the

1084. ends of the earth for I'm God and

1085. there's none else. You know, all it

  1086. takes

  1087. seeing him.

  1088. >> That's right.

  1089. >> Amen.

1090. >> You say, "Preacher, but how do I know?

1091. How do I know, preacher, that I've seen

  1092. him?"

1093. When you look at this book right here,

  1094. >> Amen.

1095. >> and you see him,

  1096. >> you're right.

1097. >> I can tell I can take you to any page in

1098. that Bible right there and I can find

  1099. it.

  1100. >> That's right.

1101. The reason why there's so many people in

1102. our churches that don't know the word of

1103. God is cuz they have no capacity to

  1104. learn it.

  1105. >> You're right.

1106. >> You don't want to memorize it because it

1107. ain't never been in your heart.

  1108. >> You're right.

1109. >> Oh, friend, when you think about

1110. scripture memorization this morning, we

1111. we we press our children.

  1112. Memorize, memorize, memorize, memorize.

  1113. That's good. I think y'all do it before

1114. they get saved. Let me say this about

1115. that, okay? It's going to be a lot

1116. harder for them to memorize something

1117. that's not in their heart.

  1118. >> You're right. God said, "I'll write my

1119. law on their inward parts."

  1120. >> Right?

1121. >> And you know why memory is easier for

  1122. somebody who's saved? Because it's

  1123. already on the inside.

  1124. >> You're right.

  1125. >> Oh, friend, that's the best thing you've

1126. heard. And you don't know how long.

  1127. Right there. Amen.

1128. >> Look, I'm not being prideful this

1129. morning. What I'm trying to tell you is

  1130. this. Revival

1131. is when Jesus steps in.

  1132. >> Yes.

1133. >> And everybody else has to get out.

1134. >> You say, "Preacher, what does that look

1135. like?" in my life. Well, I'll say this

  1136. right now. He's doing this. That's

  1137. >> right.

1138. >> You say, "What is that?" Well, he's

1139. reaching down his hand to you. What I've

1140. done this morning is I brought Jesus to

  1141. your house.

  1142. >> You're right.

1143. >> You see, your life, the Bible teaches us

1144. that the body is a tabernacle of the

1145. Holy Ghost of God. You're not your own.

  1146. You're bought with a price. Therefore,

1147. glorify God, your body and your spirit,

  1148. which are the Lord's.

1149. >> And so, what you're doing this morning,

1150. you're living with a barred body. Amen.

1151. >> Everything you got is borrowed.

1152. >> Your husband, your wife, your life, your

1153. money, all of that. Your children, it's

1154. borrowed. It's not yours. You say,

1155. "Preacher, will they have my last name?"

1156. Well, God knew who they were before you

  1157. did.

  1158. >> Amen.

1159. >> God's the one that put that seed in your

  1160. womb.

  1161. >> You're right. Come on.

1162. >> They belong to him.

  1163. >> Amen.

1164. >> It's not yours. This church is not

  1165. yours.

1166. the money of the church, the ministry of

1167. the church, the the the buildings, the

  1168. grounds

  1169. >> doesn't belong to any of us. You're

  1170. >> right.

1171. >> He has given us all of this and it's

1172. just borrowed for a time. But here's

1173. what he says. I want you to give it back

  1174. to me.

1175. >> Jesus is reaching out his hand this

1176. morning. I'm talking about a revival of

1177. recovery. What did he do? He brought

1178. that family back together again.

  1179. >> Yes.

1180. >> You know what happened? that death was

  1181. going to separate them.

  1182. >> You're right.

1183. >> I tell you this, your your lost

1184. condition will separate you from your

  1185. loved ones.

  1186. >> Yes.

1187. >> Best thing you can do is get saved

1188. today. Every head bowed and every eye

  1189. closed this morning.

1190. You're here this morning. You know

  1191. you're lost without God.

1192. See, here's the miracle. He's come to

  1193. your house today.

1194. He's come to your house. He's reaching

  1195. out his hand.

1196. You say, "Preacher, she was dead.

1197. She could do nothing about it."

1198. Let me give you this truth this morning.

1199. You're dead and you can't do anything

  1200. about it either.

1201. You know what Jesus is doing?

1202. He's reaching out his hand.

  1203. If you'll take it,

1204. he'll save you this morning.

  1205. Say, "Preacher,

  1206. preacher, I'm not saved.

  1207. I don't know God.

1208. Preacher, would you pray for me?"

1209. There's nobody looking around at me.

1210. Just slip your hand up right back down.

1211. I'll pray for you, preacher. I'm not

  1212. saved.

1213. Be honest. between you and God.

1214. God knows your heart this morning.

1215. It's obvious to him. Let me say this to

1216. you this morning. You say, "Preacher, I

1217. thought revival is for saved people."

  1218. And it is.

1219. Let me tell you this this morning.

1220. The same hand that reached out to you

1221. the night the day that you got saved is

  1222. the same hand

1223. that you need to hold the rest of your

  1224. life.

1225. He's saying, "Draw near to me. Your sin

  1226. separated you, though.

1227. You're not right with God."

1228. Say, "Preacher, I'm here. I'm not right

1229. with God. Would you pray for me this

  1230. morning?"

1231. Slip your hand up. I'll pray for you

1232. today. Preach, I'm not right with God.

1233. Let me say this for those of you today,

  1234. you're here, you've walked away from

1235. God, you can draw near to him.

  1236. He'll recover you.

1237. He'll bring you back. Let me say this.

1238. Those of you that's praying today for

1239. that lost loved one, that family member,

1240. that child that's strayed away from God,

1241. won't you get Jesus and take him to him?

  1242. If Jesus followed you

  1243. home,

  1244. what would he find?

  1245. What would he find?

1246. He wants to bring revival to your home.

1247. Let me tell you, sir, ma'am, it's going

1248. to start in your heart first.

1249. Father, I pray in Jesus name.

1250. Lord, you'd help us all

1251. embrace this truth today, God. Without

  1252. you, we're nothing.

1253. And Lord, I pray you'd help give us

1254. resolve, Lord, to take you home with us.

  1255. Cuz

1256. Lord, if there's anywhere that we need

  1257. you, it's there.

1258. God, I pray you'd help us. I pray for

1259. this revival meeting coming up. And

1260. those that have resolved to fast, Lord,

  1261. I pray that they'll do that.

1262. They'll give a day of their time and

  1263. fast and pray.

1264. Lord, you'd send revival to this little

  1265. church,

  1266. God. We don't understand what you're

1267. doing, Lord, always. But God, we know

1268. you know best. And so Lord, we'll trust

1269. you in the removal, but we'll also trust

1270. you in the entrance of your presence.

1271. Whatever way it comes, we'll trust you.

1272. But we love you. And we ask all this in

  1273. Jesus name.

  1274. Amen.
