Amen. Appreciate the singing. Matthew's

Gospel, chapter 9. Find your place if

you would stand on the reverence to the

reading of God's word. Matthew's Gospel,

chapter 9.

Do appreciate you being here this

morning. And I thank you for being in

the services today. Let me say this to

you. Uh church, we do have Sunday school

here at the church. Amen. All you that

come in this morning, 11 o'clock hour,

come be with us at Sunday school. Amen.

And members, you're expected. Okay? And

you need to be here. All right? I need

to be here for Sunday school. And you

say, "Preacher, I don't have time."

Well, you got time to do everything

else. Amen. You can get up an hour

earlier and come to Sunday school. Amen.

And come on and be be a part of that.

And I'll tell you, you wish you hadn't

when you get to heaven one of these

days. Amen. And you say, "How is that?"

Well, I'll tell you this. I know every

day that you've missed up to this point.

Amen. I can tell you when you get to

heaven, if you stay here faithfully for

the rest of your life, you'll regret all

the days that you missed before. Amen.

And so, just be faithful. Amen. And

that's our verse for the year. Amen.

It's required in stewards. Amen. It's

not an option. It's not an option. It's

required. Amen. Uh that you need to be

found faithful. Amen. Let me say this.

You've been you're a steward of the

greatest gift.

>> Amen.

>> That's ever been given to mankind. Amen.

And I appreciate the Lord's blessings

this morning. Matthew's Gospel chapter

number nine. And I want to begin reading

verse number 18. Matthew's Gospel

chapter number nine. And you pray for

us, Lord. Help us this morning and

desire to be a blessing. So you pray God

touch us. Matthew's Gospel chapter 9

verse number 18. You found your place?

Say amen.

>> Amen.

>> Verse number 18. The Bible says, "While

he spake, that's Jesus, these things

unto them, behold, there came a certain

ruler and worshiped him, saying, my

daughter is even now dead. But come and

lay thy hand upon her, and she shall

live." And Jesus arose and followed him.

And so did his disciples. Behold, a

woman which was diseased with an issue

of blood 12 years came behind him and

touched the hem of his garment. For she

said within herself, "If I may but touch

the gar his garment, I shall be whole."

But Jesus turned him about, and when he

saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good

comfort. Thy faith hath made thee whole.

The woman was made whole from that hour.

When Jesus came into the ruler's house,

and saw the minstrels and the people

making a noise, he said unto them, "Give

place, for the maid is not dead, but

sleepeth." They laughed him to scorn.

But when the people were put forth, he

went in and took her by the hand, and

the maid arose. Verse 26, the Bible

says, "And the fame hereof went abroad

into all that land." Let's pray and ask

God to help us this morning. Father,

thank you for the privilege to be in the

house of God today. Thank you for your

mercy and your grace. Thank you, God, so

much for the spirit in which we've

gathered. And Lord, I ask you, God, this

morning that you'd help us remove the

flesh far from us. God, I pray you'd

help us to say nothing that would hinder

the working of the Holy Spirit this

morning. God, I pray you'd help us to

say everything, God, that would draw us

near unto thee. Lord, I pray, God, for

every place that we're inadequate this

morning, I pray, Father, uh, Lord, that

your ability, God, would override our

inadequacy this morning. And God, I pray

that you would move in mighty power in

our midst, save the one that's nearest

hell. And for those that's out of the

will of God, living in sin, I pray you'd

get a hold of their heart this morning

and draw them back to you. And may they

get right with you today before it's too

late. And Lord, I pray God if there's

somebody here today, God, that needs

some encouragement, needs to take

another step of faith today, I pray God,

you'll give them the strength to do that

and be obedient to you out as a result

of this service. And I pray more than

anything, you'll get glory to yourself

because you're worthy. And you alone are

worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

We love you. Thank you for loving us.

Save the sinner today. We give you

thanks for it because we ask it in Jesus

name. God's children said, "Amen. Thank

you for standing. You can be seated.

Matthew's Gospel chapter number nine is

a powerp packed portion of scripture.

And I dealt with a section of this this

morning in our Sunday school hour. And

I've been trying to introduce some of

the messages here uh in Sunday school.

And you give you kind of a two-part deal

this morning. Really, our Sunday school

time didn't have a whole lot to do with

the message that I'm going to share with

you this morning. But I'll say this,

what I dealt with in Sunday school is a

prerequisite for the message that I'm

going to give you this morning. And when

I when I thought about this text this

morning, when you look at chapter number

nine, there's several things that jump

off the page to me. I think, you know,

mainly in this text, the miracles of

Christ are present in this chapter. The

chapter literally begins with Jesus

there having a man brought to him that's

sick of the pausy. And they come there

and bring him to him. And Jesus heals

him, forgives him of his sins, and then

the Pharisees begin to question his

ability to forgive sins. Let me say this

this morning. He's still able to forgive

all sin. Amen. Any sin, there's not a

sin too deep, too dark, or too bad.

Amen. That Jesus cannot handle. Amen.

Let me say this. For whatever guilts

over your head and in your heart this

morning, Jesus can remove that. Amen.

And give you new life. Amen. And I think

about this text. I think about his

miracles. I think about the missions in

this text. You notice in verse number 35

of Matthew chapter 9 that Jesus went

about all their cities and villages

teaching in their synagogues and

preaching the gospel of the kingdom.

Verse 36, but when he saw the

multitudes, he was moved with compassion

on them because they fainted and were

scattered abroad as sheep having no

shepherd. And then he makes that famous

statement in verse 37. Then saith he

unto his disciples, the harvest truly is

plenteous, but the laborers are few. And

let me say this this morning, when you

think about his miracles this morning,

the greatest miracle of all is that God

would give us the message of the gospel

and allow us to propagate that message

to a world that's lost and dying without

God. And Jesus, no doubt in my mind as

he held the mult beheld the multitudes

on that Judeian hillside that day, I

there's not a doubt in my mind that

Jesus looked down through the scope of

time and saw you and me when we was lost

in our sin and every sinner that he

would go to Calvar's cross and die for

those multitudes wasn't just present on

that day, but in the prospect of the

future. Jesus saw every sinner, but he

also saw Calvary, that hill that he was

headed to to die for the sins of all

mankind. You say, "Preacher, what are

you saying?" I'm saying the mission of

the heart of God and the heart of Jesus

Christ was that sinners be saved. Amen.

>> But when I think about this text, I

think about his miracles, and we're

going to deal with one of those miracles

here. I think about his missions, but I

I think about his message this morning

in our text. And I want to deal with

that here in just a minute. But I want

to look at this subject this morning,

and I want to talk about a revival of

recovery this morning. A revival of

recovery this morning. What you find in

this text, and I've already read it to

you this morning in your hearing, is

there is a certain ruler in verse number

18. And the Bible says that his daughter

is fell sick. And of course we notice by

way of introduction in verse number 18

that there first of all the message is

expressed. Notice the dialogue in verse

number 18. While he spake these things

>> unto them. Let me say this. It's still

right to preach.

>> Amen. It's still right to teach the word

of God. It's still right to preach the

word of God. It's still right to witness

to lost souls and sinners. Amen. and

those that's out of the will of God,

it's still right. Don't be afraid of

people's opinions when it comes to your

Christian life. Amen. You live for God

and you let come what may. Amen. People

will think what they will, but I'll tell

you this, we going with God. Amen. Jesus

is preaching. There's the dialogue in

the text. There's the disciples in the

text. They're with Jesus. There are

those that are disputing with him in the

text. We talked about the disciples of

John and the Pharisees in Sunday school

this morning. But let me say this. In

spite of the disputers and despite of

the doubters and despite the in spite of

those who are defiled in our text, the

deliverer is still speaking. Amen. And

let me say this this morning. I don't

care how deep, dark or bad your sin is

this morning. Jesus is going to speak

and you do well to listen this morning.

Amen.

>> Amen.

>> I'll say this in the text. You note the

dialogue in verse number 18. You note

the disciples. But I'll say this. in

spite of the disputers and in spite of

those that's defiled and those that's

doubt. And let me say there's one that's

desperate here in verse number 18. The

Bible says while he spake these things

unto him behold there came a certain

ruler and worshiped him saying my

daughter is even now dead but come and

lay thy hand upon her and she shall

live. Now this man in this text though

obscure in this passage of scripture he

is named to us in the parallel passage

Luke's gospel chapter number eight his

name is J Iris and this ruler J Iris of

the synagogue he is one of the devout

Jews there that are present and and

seemingly in spite of the opposition of

the Pharisees around him he's got a need

that's greater than the doubt of those

that surrounded him and so he comes to

Jesus here in the text and you notice

notice a couple of things by way of

introduction talking about revival this

morning. Notice his prayer in verse

number 18. The Bible says that behold

there came a certain ruler and worshiped

him saying, "My daughter is even now

dead, but come and lay thy hand upon her

and she shall live." Notice some things

about his prayer this morning. You see,

notice in his te in the text. First of

all, there is reverence in verse number

18. This certain ruler came, what's your

Bible say? and worshiped him. It's a

good way to start your prayer.

>> You're right.

>> Let me say this. It's the only way to

start your prayer.

>> You're right.

>> Is worship and praise and honor unto his

name. If you do not respect him, if you

come to him with your laundry list,

amen, your grocery list of requests,

amen, and you do not first take time to

reverence his name and reverence who he

is, you cannot expect anything to come

from his hand. Amen. I notice not only

his reverence but you notice his reality

in verse number 18. He worshiped him

saying my daughter is even now dead. Now

studying the parallel accounts in the

scripture we find that in Luke chapter 8

Luke 8 · chapter mention

and Mark chapter number five that at

this present time in verse number 18

she's not dead at this moment. But what

he is saying is is that by the time we

get home she's going to be dead. Jesus,

by the time we make it back to where she

is, she is going to be gone, passed on.

Her sickness is nigh unto death, and her

problem is so great that she is going to

be passed on before we can even make it

back. But I'll say this, I'm thankful

that in the midst of this prayer, he

takes time to reverence the Lord. He

takes time to share his reality. But

there's one thing that stands out to me

in this prayer, and that is his resolve.

Notice verse number 18. Look at that

little word there in the middle of the

verse. But Amen. My daughter is even now

dead. But come and lay thy hand upon her

and she shall live. Amen. Job said, "If

a man dies, shall he live again." Boy,

I'm thankful when Jesus shows up. Hey,

we know. Amen. Death's not a period.

Amen. It's not an ending, but thank God

it's a comma for a new life to start.

Amen. Jesus steps up on the scene and

this man's resolve was greater than the

doubt of the Pharisees. This man's

resolve was greater than the death that

was in his daughter's life. I'm saying,

friend, for whatever you need,

whatever's dead or dying in your life,

JESUS IS ABLE TO MEET THAT NEED IF YOU

WILL BELIEVE. AMEN.

>> You say, "What does this have to do with

revival?" Well, I'm going to give you

the story this morning, but the little

girl gets up,

>> right?

>> She comes to life again.

>> Amen. You know what? That's what some of

you need this morning.

>> Come on.

>> You know what you are? You're a

spiritual deadbeat.

Oo, that was hard, wasn't it? You're

dead. You say, "How is that, preacher?"

Well, you ain't saying amen. That's

>> right.

>> Somebody help me preach this morning.

Amen. I'm telling you this. Jesus will

help me if nobody else will. Amen. His

prayer was a prayer of reverence. But

I'll tell you this, he revealed his

reality here that he had a need that was

bigger than him. Let me tell YOU THIS.

EVERY ONE OF US IN HERE HAS got a need

that's bigger THAN WE ARE. WE HAVE NO

ABILITY TO GET INTO HIS PRESENCE. AND

WITHOUT HIM, WE HAVE NO OPPORTUNITY to

get there. Let me say this to you this

morning. It's time some of us embrace

our reality and get a little resolve

about us. THAT WE GOING TO GO TO WHERE

HE IS AND SAY, "LORD, I'M NOT LEAVING

TILL YOU HELP ME." AMEN.

>> Jacob said, "I'm not going to let the

let you go except you bless me." Amen.

And his prayer in this text, HE SAID,

"LORD, I KNOW SHE'S RIGHT NOW DEAD.

SHE'S PROBABLY DYING AT THIS VERY

MOMENT, BUT LORD, I know if you'll SHOW

UP, YOU CAN TAKE care of it." AMEN. AND

HE'S STILL ABLE. HE'S STILL ABLE. HE'S

STILL ABLE TO DO EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY

ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK,

ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKKETH in

us. Amen.

>> He's able. Amen.

>> His prayer. But I noticed this. All

right. You say, "Preacher, this is awful

generic." Well, it's fixing to not get

generic. Listen to me. All right. Verse

number Notice what verse 19 says. And

Jesus arose. Notice this. And followed

him.

>> Now, that might not catch your eye right

off the bat. Well, let me say this. This

boy's prayer got heaven's attention.

>> Amen.

>> Matter of fact, this boy's prayer got

heaven on earth's attention. Amen. Don't

know how to say that, but I made it

work. Amen. He got Jesus attention. You

say, "What is that?" Well, I notice his

prayer in verse number 18, but you see

his path in verse number 19. This man

starts home and who's following him?

>> Jesus is. You know what I thought about

this, brother M, as I was reading this

this afternoon. You know what we spend?

So, you know, we we talk about, man, I

just want to follow Jesus. I just want

to follow Jesus. But you know what this

man was doing? Jesus was following him.

You're

>> right.

>> You say, what's the emphasis of that,

preacher? Well, you see, there was

somebody that had a need back at his

house. Amen. and he knew the pathway

home. You say, "Well, Jesus knew the

pathway home, preacher, but this man was

the one that went to God. Get him."

Amen. And bring him back home with him.

What are you saying? I'M SAYING IF JESUS

followed you this morning, where would

you take him to?

>> That's good. Come on.

>> Oh my friend.

>> If Jesus were to follow you, would he

find somebody at the end of your journey

that had a need? I'm saying, how many of

us took Jesus to somebody this past week

that had a need? THEY NEEDED SALVATION.

THEY NEEDED GRACE. THEY NEEDED STRENGTH.

THEY NEEDED ENCOURAGEMENT. How many of

you took JESUS TO SOMEBODY THAT COULD

NOT HELP HIMSELF? AMEN.

>> Let me say this in direct application of

the text. Jesus here is following this

man home because he's going to his house

to meet the direct need of the moment.

Let me say this. Daddy, you are the

Christ of your home and is your job as

the father, as the daddy, AS THE

HUSBAND. AMEN. TO MAKE SURE THAT JESUS

MAKES IT TO YOUR HOUSE. AMEN.

>> And if daddy WON'T DO IT, MAMA, PLEASE

STEP UP AND MAKE SURE THAT JESUS GETS TO

YOUR HOUSE. YOU SAY, "WHY IS IT,

PREACHER?" WELL, THAT DAUGHTER, that son

that you've GOT IS LOST WITHOUT GOD.

THEY'RE RIGHT NOW DEAD. ARE YOU HEARING

THE PREACHER THIS MORNING? I'M SAYING IF

SOMEBODY DON'T BRING JESUS BACK HOME, IF

SOMEBODY DON'T GET ON THE PATH BACK HOME

WITH JESUS FOLLOWING, JESUS WILL NEVER

COME BY YOUR HOUSE. AMEN.

>> YES.

>> He gets on the path going back home and

Jesus is following him. But you see

there something arises on the way.

>> You see his prayer. Let me say this.

There sometimes there's a lot of diff

distance between the prayer and the

answer.

>> You're right. Sometimes there's a lot of

time between the prayer and the answer.

>> As a little old lady went to heaven

>> from our church

40 years

she prayed. That's right.

>> For her family,

>> prayed for her husband,

>> right?

>> 40 years. Took all almost pretty much

all her life praying that God would save

them. God bring her children back. We

got to listen to her son testify this

week. thanking God.

>> Amen.

>> For protecting them, thanking God for

his wife and how God was going to bring

them through this season of their life.

And I just thought to myself, man,

aren't you thankful that somebody

brought Jesus BACK HOME WITH THEM? AMEN.

BROUGHT JESUS TO THEIR HOUSE AND GOT

SOME HELP FOR THEIR FAMILY WHEN THEY

WASN'T SMART ENOUGH TO GET IT FOR

THEIREL. YOU SAY, "HOW IS IT, PREACHER?"

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US AT SOME POINT IN

OUR LIFE, WE WERE NOT GOING TO SEEK HELP

ON OUR OWN. BUT AREN'T YOU THANKFUL THAT

SOMEBODY PRAYED FOR YOU? SOMEBODY

BROUGHT JESUS TO WHERE you were at.

Amen.

>> But I noticed this verse 20. You see his

prayer. You see his path, but you not

his patience in this text. And I use

this text for a reason. The other Luke's

gospel and Mark's gospel give a lot more

to this. And I wanted to be simple this

morning. But you see on that path home,

he he he encounters somebody. Yeah.

>> The Bible said in verse 20, "Behold, a

woman which was diseased with an issue

of blood 12 years came behind him and

touched the hem of his garment."

>> You know the story, there's a disease.

Her desire, verse 21, for she said

within herself, "If I may but touch his

garment, I shall be whole."

>> The same faith that Jirus had to raise

his daughter is the very same faith that

she had that she knew if she could just

get to Jesus and just touch not Jesus,

but just something that was touching

him. Amen. old friend. You get the image

of that? Amen. If we'll just get a hold

of Jesus, Amen. and take a hold of

somebody else, Jesus can. Man, I'm

telling you, friend, SHE GOT A HOLD to

the HEM OF HIS GARMENT. AND what happens

in the text? Hey, friend, there's

deliverance. Look what the Bible says.

Verse 22. But Jesus turned about when he

saw her, he said, daughter, be of good

comfort. Thy faith hath made thee whole.

And the woman was made whole from that

hour. You say, preacher, what's

significant about that story? Well, I'd

say two things about that story here are

significant. I think the age is

significant. The Bible says that she had

an issue of blood for 12 years.

Now, you turn to the parallel account of

this, you'll find out that little girl

was 12 years old. You say, "Preacher,

what's else significant about that?"

Well, a relationship's significant. Look

what the Bible says in verse 18. There

came a certain ruler and worshiped him,

saying, "My daughter."

Notice verse number 20. Verse number 22.

But Jesus turned him about and when he

saw her, he said, "What?"

Daughter

>> be of good comfort.

>> You say, "What is that, preacher?" Well,

that J Iris, that ruler was on the way

home to his daughter with Jesus.

>> Yeah.

>> But on the way, there was one of Jesus

daughters.

>> Amen.

>> Come on.

>> That needed some help.

>> That's right. And you know what

happened? Jesus took a little time out.

>> Yeah.

>> Stop and say, "Honey, it's all right."

>> That's right.

>> I don't know about you, and I'm not I'm

not big on on reading into a text. Amen.

I hate it. Okay. But I'll tell you this.

I wonder if J Iris looked at Jesus when

he did that. Heard that word come out of

his mouth, "Daughter,

>> be of good comfort." I wonder if a peace

come over his heart. You say, "How is it

that he was patient?" Do you see

anywhere in the text where he

complained?

>> Amen.

>> You're right.

>> Oh my soul. Somebody help me preach this

morning. Do you see anywhere in the text

where J IRIS SAID, "JESUS, WHAT ARE YOU

DOING? WHY ARE YOU STOPPING? SHE'S NOW

DEAD. JESUS, WE'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT

IN TIME." Don't see it a single time.

>> Right?

>> Mark's account in chapter 5, Luke's

account in chapter 8. Not a single time

does J. Irish complain.

>> Jesus had to stop and take care of some

business. Let me say this to you this

morning. Of course, we know Jesus was

literally physically walking in this

text, but just know just because your

prayer is not getting answered yet,

Jesus is on his way.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. He's on his way. You say, "Did he

have to stop and help somebody else?"

No. He can help you anytime that he

wants to. Amen. Jesus could have healed

that little girl without even walking

away. You remember that rich that ruler,

that centurion that had a servant, a

man, that was sick. And what did he say?

He said, "Lord, I'm not worthy that you

should even come under my roof, BUT JUST

SPEAK A word and my servant will be

healed." You remember what the Bible

said? Jesus said his faith, he

recognized his faith and what he do. He

healed that boy, not ever laying eyes on

him. I'm saying Jesus can TAKE CARE OF

YOUR PROBLEM. AMEN. IF YOU'LL JUST BE

PATIENT WITH HIM. AMEN.

>> But you know what? It was on the path.

Here's what you're going to find. On the

path to home, you know what you're going

to do? You're going to meet other people

that have needs.

>> You're right.

>> On the path to bring Jesus home, you're

going to meet people on that way that's

going to need the same Jesus you're

trying to take home.

>> You're right.

>> Oh man, that's good preaching this

morning. I'm telling you, I'm It ain't

cuz I'm doing it either. Amen. I noticed

this in the text and I'm moving. Amen.

You see his patience in the text.

Doesn't complain at all. Let me say this

to you, church. When God's not working

the way you want him to, don't complain.

>> That's right. You just say, "Lord, I

know what I I don't know what you're

doing, but Lord, I know who you are."

>> You're right.

>> And Lord, I can't trace your hand, but I

will trust your heart. Amen. I know

you've got my best interest in mind,

whether this all works out or whether it

doesn't. God, I know it'll be your will

either way. Amen. AND I'LL JUST TRUST

YOU. AMEN. HEY, BE PATIENT IN THAT TIME

OF WAITING. IF YOU'VE MADE YOUR PRAYER

AND YOU'RE ON THE PATHWAY HOME, YOU JUST

KNOW THAT GOD WILL MEET you there. Amen.

Notice this in the text, and I'll get

into the message this morning. Notice

his place in verse 23. And when Jesus

came, notice that into the ruler's

house. He's made it home.

Now, what happens? I'm talking about

revival. You know what revival is?

Revival is personal.

>> That's right.

>> If you're going to have revival, it's

going to have to start in here.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. Notice what happens in this text.

The Bible says there in verse 23 verse

he number one you see at this place what

Jesus saw. Look what the Bible says.

When Jesus came into the ruler's house

and saw the minstrels and the people

making a noise. You know what this is?

This is the Jewish ceremony of death.

>> This is Jewish funeral. What they would

do is is there would be family there

weeping and mourning of course for

death. and the climate there in this

land, the Middle East, as soon as a body

would pass on, they would immediately

have the the funeral because, you know,

the their ability to inbomb and all of

that just wasn't the way it is now and

preserve the body. And so, they would

immediately begin the funeral and daddy

gets home and they're already singing.

You imagine coming down the road, those

open

>> doored houses, no windows, no doors, and

what does he hear? He heals the weeping

of those mourers that are hired to

grieve the loss of those that were dead.

You say, "Preacher, that's terrible.

That's just the culture." Amen. That's

just the way it was. They hired mourers

that went to these these funerals. And

you see that he saw them in verse 23.

And notice what he said in verse 24. He

said unto them, "Give place, for the

maid is not dead, but sleepeth."

>> They laughed him to scorn. Now, what's

Jesus saying? You say, "Preacher, that

she's dead." She is dead. Jesus in the

same occasion when Lazarus was dead. The

Bible says that, you know, he he told

his disciples, "What do you tell him?"

He said, "I go to wake L. He's he's

asleep and I go to awake him." That's

>> right.

>> And the disciples said, "Lord, if he'd

be asleep, he'd do well." And Jesus said

to him plainly, "The Bible says he's

dead." What was it? What's the truth

he's teaching them? That this body was

just asleep. That's

>> right.

>> Amen. We don't believe in soul sleep

this morning. That's not what I'm

talking about. But in comparison to the

power of God, death is just sleep.

>> You're right.

>> And so what happens? Jesus comes to this

house. He sees the mourers. He hears the

music. Verse 24, he says, look what he

says. Give place. What does that mean?

Y'all back up a little bit. Amen. You

say, "What is that, preacher?" Well,

when Jesus comes down to your house,

he's going to move some things out of

the way.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> He have to He may have to move some

people out of the way. You're right.

>> He have to may have to move some

programs,

>> you're right,

>> out of the way.

>> Come on.

>> He He may have to move some of the

operation of your life out of the way.

Notice what happens in this text. You

see, they're already mourning. She's

dead. They're going on about their daily

life. They're mourning. Verse number 24,

he says to them, they, you know, give

place. The maid's not dead, but

sleepeth. Notice this. And they laughed

him to scorn.

They mocked him. Why is that? Because

these mourers were hirelings.

They were actors,

>> right?

>> They didn't really care. That's right.

>> They were paid to be there.

>> You say, "What's the emphasis of that?"

Well, I'm talking about revival.

When Jesus shows up, you know what's

happen? What happens? Those that's not

real reveal themselves.

>> Right.

>> Amen.

>> Oh, friend.

>> Come on.

>> That's right.

>> When Jesus shows up and he's going to do

a work, you know what happens? Those

that really don't care, they show

themselves.

It shows who's real and who's not.

Notice this. I give you the message.

It's going to be short. I've built a big

old foundation. I'm going to put a

teepee on it. All right. You see what he

saw at the house. You see what he said

at the house. But notice where he

started when he got to the house in

verse 25. Look at look at that first

phrase. But when the people were put

forth, he said give place. You know what

had to happen? There was some people

that had to get out.

>> Right?

>> Look at it again. First of all, in the

message this morning, I'd say if you're

going to have revival, there's got to be

an exit.

>> Right?

>> Now, I know we don't like that this

morning, but it's it's in the text. But

when the people were put forth, what is

the exit of? Well, it's of the

hypocrites,

>> right?

>> It's of the actors, those that's not

real, those that aren't going to be

saved. And you say, "Preacher, well, as

long as somebody's lost and they're in

the house of God, they're in a good

place." Here's the truth about this. All

what you need to know this morning. An

apostate who has been in the house of

God for 20, 30, 40 years or however long

it is, whatever it is, if they've been

there that long and they still haven't

got saved, sometimes the best thing they

can do is get out and quit messing up

the house of God.

>> You're right.

>> You say, "What's the truth about that?"

Here's the truth about that. THEY'RE NOT

SAVED YET. PROBABLY NOT EVER GOING TO

BE. And what they're doing is hindering

other people from getting saved.

>> They're hindering OTHER PEOPLE FROM

BEING SAVED. and they're hindering the

saved people from being joyous.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. That's good preaching this

morning. I'm saying he there's an exit.

There has to be some hypocrites that

have to get out of the way. And who's

the one that does the removing?

Notice it again. Verse 25. But when the

people were put forth, you know what

they were doing? They were laughing at

him. You say, "What were they laughing

at, preacher?" They were laughing at his

word.

>> That's right.

>> Notice it again. He said unto them,

"Give place, for the maid is not dead,

but sleepeth." What do they do? They

laugh at him. They laugh at his word.

You know what the hypocrite does?

Somebody that's apostate, never going to

be saved. They mock at his word.

>> Oh, preacher, it don't really mean that.

You're just swelling that

>> preacher. We don't really believe that.

You don't really believe that, preacher.

You mean that's right? You're trying to

tell me that I've got to live like that

and be like that and do that to be

saved. No. No. I don't add no works to

salvation. But I'll tell you this, if

you are saved, there's going to be some

things that just come along with it.

Amen. The hypocrites HAVE TO GET OUT OF

THE WAY. AMEN.

>> AMEN.

>> Come on.

>> I'm talking about revival. If we want to

have real revival, the hypocrites, those

that mock at the word of God, those that

laugh when the preacher gives the

message. Jesus gave the diagnosis. Amen.

But they didn't like what he had to say.

And so, you know what happened? They got

to get out,

>> right?

>> I'm just preaching this morning. You

notice the exit of the hypocrites. Verse

25. But notice what happens. And I love

this, brother Matt. The Bible is written

this way for a reason. Amen. Look what

the Bible says. But when the people were

put forth, what's the next three words?

He went in.

At the same time,

all them actors was exiting. All them

paid performers was walking out and

getting out of the way. You know what

was happening? Jesus was stepping back

into the situation. Amen. He got to the

house and he looked at Jay Iris and

said, "All right, this is what's going

to have to be. You're going to have to

get them out of the way. She ain't

really, she's not really dead." Amen.

She just needs some help from me. Amen.

Oh, friend. Hallelujah. Boy, I'm

thankful that when Jesus looks at A

SINNER, YES, THEY ARE DEAD. But aren't

you thankful IN LIGHT OF THE CROSS, in

light of Calvary, Jesus looks at them

and he says, "Oh, friend," he don't he

don't see the judgment. He sees the

possibility. Amen. He sees what THEY CAN

BE, WHO THEY'RE GOING TO BE. AMEN. HE

SEES THE FUTURE, AND HE SAYS, "ALL

RIGHT, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GET all

these others out of the way."

>> That's right.

>> Amen, friend. He looks at them, and the

Bible says, "When they were put forth,

then he goes in." Let me say this, it's

only on the precipice when they get out.

>> You're right.

>> He doesn't go in till they get out.

>> Why? Because there ain't enough room.

>> That's good.

You say, "Preacher, there's plenty seats

in here." I know what I'm talking about.

>> I'm talking about room for the Holy

Ghost of God to work.

>> Amen.

>> You see, Jesus steps in the entrance. He

enters into the situation here in the

text. And what does he do? You notice

not only the exit and the entrance, but

notice the embrace in verse 25. But when

the people were put forth, he went in.

Notice this. Nobody had to ask which one

was dead.

>> Amen.

>> When Jesus walked in, Amen. She was

laying over there and everybody knew.

Let me say this to you this morning.

Just as clear as it was to Jesus in this

text that that LITTLE GIRL WAS DEAD, he

knows everybody in here that's lost. He

knows everybody IN HERE THAT'S SAVED.

AMEN. And he CAN POINT YOU OUT. WE MAY

NOT KNOW IT THIS MORNING, BUT I CAN

ASSURE YOU HE DOES. AN OLD FRIEND. HE'LL

MOVE EVERYBODY ELSE OUT OF THE WAY. AND

HE'LL COME TO YOUR BEDSIDE. HE'LL COME

TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU'RE LAYING DEAD

WITHOUT GOD. WHERE YOU'RE LAYING WITH NO

LIFE IN YOU, NOT KNOWING JESUS CHRIST.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE'LL DO?

>> RIGHT.

>> Come on.

>> I'm telling you, I about lost my mind

studying this. Amen. Look what he says.

Verse number 25, the Bible says, "He

went in and took her by the hand." Jesus

reached down his hand for this little

maiden, 12 years old. What does he do?

The moment he clasped her hand, what

does the Bible say?

>> And she arose.

>> Amen.

>> I like that old song. Talks about that

old violin.

>> Yeah.

>> That violin was brought into the pawn

shop. You've all heard it. Says worth1,

two, three dollars. Amen.

The man comes in there and he gets hold

of that violin's all dusty and beat up

and he starts playing that violin on

that I guess it's an auction and the

bids go from one $2. It goes from 1,000

2,000 3,000 and the song ends. It says

it's just the touch of the master's

hand.

>> Amen.

>> You see the value of a soul is not the

value of a soul itself.

>> Amen.

>> But it's the value of whose hand it's

in. You're right.

>> You and I ain't worth a thing.

>> Amen.

>> You said, "Preacher, I thought you

supposed to be encouraging." No, I'm

telling you the truth. Amen.

>> You and I ain't worth the God blessed

thing. Amen. Hey, friend. If it was if

it was left up to us to live our life,

we die and go to hell and burn just like

every sinner and every devil that's been

in history. Let me tell you something.

Jesus saw something.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. And here's the thing about it.

Every sinner that dies and goes to hell,

Jesus got a plan for them, too. That's

right.

>> Amen. They just didn't receive his plan.

>> Amen.

>> But I'll tell you this, he walked into

that house that day. His entrance

brought about an embrace. And who did he

embrace? He embraced that little girl.

And the moment that his hand clashed in

hers, she arose up to to new life. Amen.

She's restored. She's revived. And you

say, "Preacher, what's the emphasis?"

I'm saying she'd have never been revived

if daddy hadn't went and got Jesus.

Amen. If daddy HADN'T COME TO WHERE

JESUS WAS AND GOT JESUS AND STARTED ON

THAT PATHWAY HOME, HE MADE A PRAYER. HE

SHOWED HIS FAITH. LORD, I KNOW I WORSHIP

YOU. I PRAISE YOUR NAME. BUT LORD, I GOT

A PROBLEM I CAN'T FIX. I GOT A SITUATION

MY DAUGHTER'S NOW DEAD. AND THE BIBLE

SAYS, HE SAYS, LORD, I KNOW that you can

TAKE CARE OF THIS. I BELIEVE THAT YOU

CAN HANDLE IT. AND SO WHAT DOES HE DO?

HE GETS JESUS BY THE HAND AND THEY START

HOME. AMEN. And what happens when they

get home? The same HAND THAT THAT

FOLLOWED THAT MAN ALL THE WAY HOME is

the SAME HAND THAT PICKED UP HIS LITTLE

GIRL AND BREATHED NEW LIFE INTO HER. YOU

SAY, "HOW IS IT, PREACHER?" WELL, IN THE

WOMB WHEN THAT WOMAN CONCEIVED WITH THIS

LITTLE GIRL, IT WAS THE SAME HOLE

FRIEND, THE SAME mouth that breathed

life into THAT CONCEPTION IS THE SAME

HAND, FRIEND, THAT STEPPED INTO HER LIFE

AND REVIVED HER. AMEN.

I'm

>> talking about a revival.

There have to be an exit.

He's got to make an entrance.

>> You're right.

>> But there's going to have to be an

embrace.

>> Notice the excitement.

There's new life in the text.

But what happens after this revival?

Verse 26. What's your Bible say?

And the fame hereof

went abroad into all that land.

You want to know how you measure true

revival?

>> I've heard of a lot of good meetings

down through the years.

And this is what I hear about most of

them. Well, we had 70 people get saved

in that meeting.

>> We had 40, 50, 60, 70 people get saved

in that meeting. And you know, I think

to myself, that's great.

>> Y

>> glory to God. Praise the Lord. That's

wonderful. But when you look at the

amount of people that they say got saved

in that meeting,

>> come on.

>> And how many of them still in church?

>> Amen.

>> You say, "Preacher, how can you judge a

revival meeting by by that?" Let me say

this. When Jesus saves somebody, he

saves them to last.

>> When he saves you, he seals you.

>> Right?

>> I tell you this, we ought not ever judge

a revival meeting by how many people get

saved.

>> Right?

There's churches all over this country

that preachers will preach in a big

emotionalistic move and the same people

will get saved every year.

>> Let me tell you, God's not pleased with

that. That's

>> right.

Cuz you know what that is?

That's putting Christ on the cross

again.

>> You're right.

>> Well, I'm going to get it some point in

time.

I'll get it settled some way, preacher.

Now, let me tell you how you get it

settled. It ain't in a meeting.

>> You're right.

>> It's not talking to some man.

>> It's not going around asking a bunch of

questions and, you know, trying to find

what day it was or your name on a roll

at some church 40 years ago where you

got saved. That ain't got nothing to do

with it.

>> That's right.

>> It ain't got nothing to do with an

experience that you had.

>> Oh, friend, I'm meddling now, ain't it?

>> It ain't got nothing to do where you was

at, what you said, or even who you are.

>> Yeah, you're right. Here's what

salvation is. It's two words. Jesus

Christ,

>> right?

>> And you know what salvation is? Is when

God in your mind turns the light on

said look what Jes what what God say?

Isaiah 45:22.

Isaiah 45:22

Look unto me and be ye saved. All the

ends of the earth for I'm God and

there's none else. You know, all it

takes

seeing him.

>> That's right.

>> Amen.

>> You say, "Preacher, but how do I know?

How do I know, preacher, that I've seen

him?"

When you look at this book right here,

>> Amen.

>> and you see him,

>> you're right.

>> I can tell I can take you to any page in

that Bible right there and I can find

it.

>> That's right.

The reason why there's so many people in

our churches that don't know the word of

God is cuz they have no capacity to

learn it.

>> You're right.

>> You don't want to memorize it because it

ain't never been in your heart.

>> You're right.

>> Oh, friend, when you think about

scripture memorization this morning, we

we we press our children.

Memorize, memorize, memorize, memorize.

That's good. I think y'all do it before

they get saved. Let me say this about

that, okay? It's going to be a lot

harder for them to memorize something

that's not in their heart.

>> You're right. God said, "I'll write my

law on their inward parts."

>> Right?

>> And you know why memory is easier for

somebody who's saved? Because it's

already on the inside.

>> You're right.

>> Oh, friend, that's the best thing you've

heard. And you don't know how long.

Right there. Amen.

>> Look, I'm not being prideful this

morning. What I'm trying to tell you is

this. Revival

is when Jesus steps in.

>> Yes.

>> And everybody else has to get out.

>> You say, "Preacher, what does that look

like?" in my life. Well, I'll say this

right now. He's doing this. That's

>> right.

>> You say, "What is that?" Well, he's

reaching down his hand to you. What I've

done this morning is I brought Jesus to

your house.

>> You're right.

>> You see, your life, the Bible teaches us

that the body is a tabernacle of the

Holy Ghost of God. You're not your own.

You're bought with a price. Therefore,

glorify God, your body and your spirit,

which are the Lord's.

>> And so, what you're doing this morning,

you're living with a barred body. Amen.

>> Everything you got is borrowed.

>> Your husband, your wife, your life, your

money, all of that. Your children, it's

borrowed. It's not yours. You say,

"Preacher, will they have my last name?"

Well, God knew who they were before you

did.

>> Amen.

>> God's the one that put that seed in your

womb.

>> You're right. Come on.

>> They belong to him.

>> Amen.

>> It's not yours. This church is not

yours.

the money of the church, the ministry of

the church, the the the buildings, the

grounds

>> doesn't belong to any of us. You're

>> right.

>> He has given us all of this and it's

just borrowed for a time. But here's

what he says. I want you to give it back

to me.

>> Jesus is reaching out his hand this

morning. I'm talking about a revival of

recovery. What did he do? He brought

that family back together again.

>> Yes.

>> You know what happened? that death was

going to separate them.

>> You're right.

>> I tell you this, your your lost

condition will separate you from your

loved ones.

>> Yes.

>> Best thing you can do is get saved

today. Every head bowed and every eye

closed this morning.

You're here this morning. You know

you're lost without God.

See, here's the miracle. He's come to

your house today.

He's come to your house. He's reaching

out his hand.

You say, "Preacher, she was dead.

She could do nothing about it."

Let me give you this truth this morning.

You're dead and you can't do anything

about it either.

You know what Jesus is doing?

He's reaching out his hand.

If you'll take it,

he'll save you this morning.

Say, "Preacher,

preacher, I'm not saved.

I don't know God.

Preacher, would you pray for me?"

There's nobody looking around at me.

Just slip your hand up right back down.

I'll pray for you, preacher. I'm not

saved.

Be honest. between you and God.

God knows your heart this morning.

It's obvious to him. Let me say this to

you this morning. You say, "Preacher, I

thought revival is for saved people."

And it is.

Let me tell you this this morning.

The same hand that reached out to you

the night the day that you got saved is

the same hand

that you need to hold the rest of your

life.

He's saying, "Draw near to me. Your sin

separated you, though.

You're not right with God."

Say, "Preacher, I'm here. I'm not right

with God. Would you pray for me this

morning?"

Slip your hand up. I'll pray for you

today. Preach, I'm not right with God.

Let me say this for those of you today,

you're here, you've walked away from

God, you can draw near to him.

He'll recover you.

He'll bring you back. Let me say this.

Those of you that's praying today for

that lost loved one, that family member,

that child that's strayed away from God,

won't you get Jesus and take him to him?

If Jesus followed you

home,

what would he find?

What would he find?

He wants to bring revival to your home.

Let me tell you, sir, ma'am, it's going

to start in your heart first.

Father, I pray in Jesus name.

Lord, you'd help us all

embrace this truth today, God. Without

you, we're nothing.

And Lord, I pray you'd help give us

resolve, Lord, to take you home with us.

Cuz

Lord, if there's anywhere that we need

you, it's there.

God, I pray you'd help us. I pray for

this revival meeting coming up. And

those that have resolved to fast, Lord,

I pray that they'll do that.

They'll give a day of their time and

fast and pray.

Lord, you'd send revival to this little

church,

God. We don't understand what you're

doing, Lord, always. But God, we know

you know best. And so Lord, we'll trust

you in the removal, but we'll also trust

you in the entrance of your presence.

Whatever way it comes, we'll trust you.

But we love you. And we ask all this in

Jesus name.

Amen.
