  12. >> Amen. And I'm thankful he can do

  13. anything with anything. Amen. And you

  14. say, "You really believe that?" Well,

  15. you see where I'm standing tonight.

  16. Amen. I believe it. Amen. He can take a

  17. nothing, make something out of him, and

  18. give him a job to do. Amen. And I bless

  19. his name for it. Amen. Well, I

  20. appreciate Brother Austin Elkins, and

  21. I'm so glad he's here with us this week.

  22. And I tell you, I I told the church

  23. this, like I said, if main focus has

  24. been the preaching this week, and I

  25. believe that's what's going to give us

  26. help in these days, and uh we can do a

  27. whole lot of things. And uh I'll say

  28. this, if it don't get on when it gets

  29. started, amen, we just going to let the

  30. man of God preach and then let it get

  31. on. Somebody say, "Amen." And I

  32. appreciate him so very much. Always

  33. enjoy the fellowship and always enjoys

  34. preaching. Preacher, you come and preach

  35. to us tonight. And uh Amen. Preach till

  38. Amen. Amen. I appreciate the Lord. Don't

  39. you?

  40. >> Amen. I'm glad to be saved. Glad I've

  41. got a salvation that's real and glad I

  42. got something I can enjoy on the way

  43. home. Amen. I'm glad that it it'll last

  44. and I've been the Lord's made us some

  45. promises and I'm going to enjoy them. Uh

  46. I believe it was Vance Havner that said

  47. that he didn't understand all about

  48. electricity, but he wasn't going to sit

  49. in the dark until he did. And I've

  50. decided I'm going to enjoy my salvation.

  51. And I'm just going to be what God wants

  52. me to be. Jonah chapter 1 tonight. Jonah

Jonah 1 chapter mention Jonah 1 chapter mention

  53. chapter 1. When you find your place, if

  54. you will stand as we'll read and pray

  55. together tonight and give you the simple

  56. thought uh that is in our hearts and

  57. appreciate so much uh the good crowd

  58. here tonight. Appreciate you, brother

  59. Lindsay, bringing your family over and

  60. didn't realize that y'all were as close

  61. as you were. U but I'm glad that you uh

  62. made the trip over and Amen. Thank God

  63. for another Tuesday night to be in

  64. church. You stand to your feet. We'll

  65. read the word of God together. And we'll

  66. give you the thought that is in our

  67. heart and try to be obedient to the

  68. Lord. And y'all know I'm not longwinded.

  69. And so smile at me real good. Amen.

  70. We'll be out of here in just a little

  71. little while. And if if y'all don't

  72. smile at me good, it'll be 805.

  73. Hallelujah. I'm just I'm kidding. I

  74. appreciate God. Jonah chapter number one

  75. and verse number one. The Bible said,

  76. "Now the word of the Lord came unto

  77. Jonah the son of Amati, saying, Arise,

  78. go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry

  79. against it, for their wickedness has

  80. come up before me." But Jonah rose up to

  81. flee unto Tarses from the presence of

  82. the Lord, and went down to Japan, and he

  83. found a ship going to Tarses. So he paid

  84. the fair thereof, and went down into it

  85. to go with them unto Tarses from the

  86. presence of the Lord. But the Lord sent

  87. out a great wind into the sea, and there

  88. was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that

  89. the ship was like to be broken. Then the

  90. mariners were afraid, and cried every

  91. man UNTO HIS GOD, AND CAST FORTH THE

  92. WARES that were in the ship into the

  93. sea, delightened of them. But Jonah was

  94. gone down into the sides of the ship,

  95. and he lay and was fast asleep. So the

  96. shipmaster came to him, and said unto

  97. him, "What meanest thou, oh sleeper?

  98. Arise, call upon thy God, if so be that

  99. God will think upon ush that we perish

  100. not. And they said everyone to his

  101. fellow, Come, let us cast lots that we

  102. may be known for whose cause this evil

  103. is upon us. So they cast lots. And the

  104. lot fell upon Jonah. If you will uh skip

  105. over to verse number 15, the Bible said,

  106. "SO THEY TOOK UP Jonah and cast him

  107. forth into the sea. And the sea ceased

  108. from her raging. Then the men feared the

  109. Lord EXCEEDINGLY AND OFFERED A sacrifice

  110. unto the Lord and made vows." Now the

  111. Lord had prepared a great fish to

  112. swallow up Jonah. and Jonah was in the

  113. belly of the fish three days and three

  114. nights. Let's pause and ask God's help

  115. again tonight. Father, in Jesus lovely

  116. name, thank you so much for the

  117. PRIVILEGE AND THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY it

  118. is to be back in your house tonight.

  119. THANK YOU FOR THE SONGS OF ZION. THANK

  120. YOU, LORD, THAT WE'RE free in the Lord

  121. and free indeed. GOD, I PRAY FOR THOSE

  122. THAT ARE LOST TONIGHT THAT YOU'D DEAL

  123. WITH THEM AND that you'd save them. AND

  124. OH GOD, FOR US AS YOUR PEOPLE that you

  125. draw us nigh TO YOUR SIGHT AGAIN. HELP

  126. US TO HEAR THY VOICE. HELP US, OH LORD,

  127. TO LOVE YOU like we're SUPPOSED TO LOVE

  128. YOU until you come again. Whatever you

  129. do, please get the glory AND THE PRAISE

  130. AND THE HONOR AND THE THANKSGIVING. For

  131. it is in Jesus lovely name we ask. WITH

  132. MUCH THANKSGIVING AND FOR YOUR GLORY.

  133. AMEN. AND AMEN. You can be seated. Thank

  134. you for standing as we've read and

  135. prayed together again tonight. I know

  136. this is extremely familiar scripture. I

  137. hope it is to you. I know it may not to

  138. be to someh but if you've been around

  139. church any amount of time, you've heard

  140. this text preached. UH YOU'VE SEEN IT

  141. DEALT WITH. AND I KNOW I'M NOT GOING TO

  142. TELL YOU anything you've NOT HEARD

  143. ALREADY. BUT I am interested in what

  144. God's got to say to us tonight. As I

  145. come to the book of Jonah, YOU KNOW THAT

  146. GOD HAS CALLED HIM in a dark and a

  147. wicked day. AND GOD IS TRYING TO get him

  148. on his feet and get him into the place

  149. where he CAN BE A HELP to many, many

  150. people. Oh, aren't you glad THAT JONAH'S

  151. LIFE WAS BIGGER THAN JONAH? THAT GOD'S

  152. PLAN WAS BIGGER THAN HIS little world

  153. AND HIS LITTLE BUBBLE. AND CAN I SAY TO

  154. YOU TONIGHT, CHURCH, GOD'S PLAN IS

  155. BIGGER THAN US. GOD'S PLAN IS BIGGER

  156. THAN MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH. HEY, I'M

  157. GLAD IT DIDN'T ALL REST ON JONAH. AND IT

  158. DID BECAUSE IT WAS RESTING ON THE

  159. SHOULDERS OF A BIG AND A WONDERFUL GOD.

  160. HEY, GOD HAD BEEN GOOD TO HIM. GOD HAD

  161. USED HIM in days gone by. YOU'LL NOTICE

  162. HE HAD SOME FORMER OBEDIENCE. HE HAD

  163. PREACHED BEFORE. HE HAD PROPHESIED

  164. BEFORE. HE HAD MINDED GOD BEFORE. AND

  165. GOD HAD USED HIM AND WRETCHED THROUGH

  166. HIS LIFE TO BE A HELP TO OTHER people

  167. around him.

  168. >> The former obedience. There's the

  169. father's outreach. He was ONE OF THE

  170. MIGHTY SERVANTS of the Lord. And you

  171. say, "Well, that was the Old Testament

  172. prophet days." Listen, I know there's no

  173. more prophets. I understand that. But

  174. God, if he's going to do anything in our

  175. day, IT IS GOING TO BE THROUGH THE LOCAL

  176. CHURCH AND THROUGH BORNAGAIN BELIEVERS

  177. MAKING A genuine difference in this

  178. world. Now,

  179. >> I don't know about you, but the further

  180. we go and the closer we get to Jesus

  181. COMING AGAIN, BROTHER LINDSAY, THE

  182. BURDEN SEEMS LIKE IT FEELS HEAVIER AS WE

  183. GET CLOSER BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THAT

  184. MUCH TIME, HEY, TO GET DONE WHAT WE'RE

  185. GOING TO GET DONE FOR THE LORD.

  186. >> OH, FRIEND, God has been good to him.

  187. God gave him a good name. That name

  188. means dove. And what a picture it could

  189. have been. What a picture HE COULD HAVE

  190. BEEN OF THE LORD WITH SUCH A NAME. GOD

  191. HAD BEEN GUIDING HIS LIFE, HAD BEEN GOOD

  192. TO HIM. BUT OH FRIEND, YOU'LL FIND IN

  193. HIS LIFE, JONAH DID NOT WANT TO DO

  194. everything God said.

  195. >> His father's name means my truth.

  196. >> The messenger named Dove was sent by God

  197. with a MESSAGE THAT WOULD CHANGE LIVES

  198. for eternity.

  199. but by prejudice, BY PERSONAL REBELLION

  200. OR A PROBLEM WITH GOD, HE TAKES OFF IN

  201. THE WRONG DIRECTION. And when he does,

  202. HE JEOPARDIZES THE SOULS of thousands.

  203. >> Can I say this tonight? As messengers to

  204. this world, we are called as messengers

  205. and carriers OF THE GRACE AND THE GOSPEL

  206. OF OUR BLESSED GOD. HEY, IT IS OUR

  207. RESPONSIBILITY.

  208. IT'S NOT TIME TO TURN TAIL AND RUN. IT'S

  209. NOT TIME TO GO ANOTHER WAY. IT'S TIME TO

  210. TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD and believe HIM ONE

  211. MORE TIME AND DO WHAT HE SAID TO DO.

  212. >> Oh friend, it burdens my heart and it

  213. blows my mind. How many people in our

  214. day are living like Jonah?

  215. >> They are living in THEY ARE DOING

  216. THEY'RE DOING BARELY ENOUGH TO GET BY.

  217. THEY'RE DOING ENOUGH TO EASE THEIR

  218. CONSCIENCE. THEY'RE DOING ENOUGH TO MAKE

  219. IT EASIER ON THEIREL AND SAY, "WELL, I

  220. TIP MY HAT TO GOD THIS WEEK. HEY, GOD,

  221. HELP US. ARE WE NOT GOING TO OBEY WHAT

  222. GOD SAID?"

  223. >> And if friend, if we don't, oh man,

  224. >> you know the consequences he faced.

  225. We'll get through the text in just a

  226. minute. But my question to you tonight

  227. is, will somebody go to your Nineveh? My

  228. question is, will you make a difference

  229. IN YOUR AREA? WILL YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  230. IN YOUR FAMILY? WILL YOU MAKE A

  231. DIFFERENCE RIGHT NOW? HEY, MY QUESTION,

  232. AS WE LOOK AT THIS MAN, JONAH, HE IS THE

  233. MAN THAT GOD WANTED TO USE.

  234. >> And as I look at this church tonight,

  235. you know what I see? I see people that

  236. God, he wants to use them for his glory

  237. and for his honor. BROTHER CHARLIE,

  238. GOD'S got a plan. HEY, GOD'S GOT MIGHTY

  239. BIG PLANS. HEY, FRIEND, GO MAN. HEY,

  240. FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD. HEY,

  241. GOD'S GOT A PLAN.

  242. >> OH, FRIEND. And God wanted to use that

  243. man. And just like that man, just like

  244. this church and just like you, God wants

  245. to use your life.

  246. >> Right?

  247. >> I know this is simple and it ain't going

  248. to be you ain't going to have to swim

  249. around in the deep waters, but it's the

  250. simple things that we're not doing. It's

  251. the simple things we're tripping up in.

  252. It's the SIMPLE THINGS WE GOT TO GET

  253. BACK TO. IT'S THE FUNDAMENTALS. IT'S THE

  254. FUNDAMENTALS WE BETTER GET GROUNDED IN

  255. ONE MORE TIME.

  256. >> AMEN.

  257. >> Oh God, help us to get back to the

  258. fundamentals.

  259. >> So, for just a little while, I want to

  260. preach on this thought. And like I said,

  261. I'll be done. Amen. We going to eat

  262. after this. Hallelujah.

  263. I'm preaching tonight on this th on

  264. Jonah, the man that God wanted to use.

  265. Or we can call it this, if you want to

  266. look at it, you can call it Jonah

  267. Baptist Church cuz I believe there are

  268. churches that God wants to use.

  269. >> That are not letting him do what he

  270. wants to do.

  271. >> I believe there are individuals.

  272. >> Oh, for everybody gets nervous because

  273. they think every time they hear this,

  274. God's going to call somebody to preach

  275. IN THE SER. HE MAY DO IT. That may be

  276. fine and dandy. That's all well and

  277. good. I done surrendered, so it's all

  278. right. Hey, y'all can go ahead and mind

  279. God. But it may be that God deals with

  280. some lay person just to be everything

  281. God wants you to be. It may be that God

  282. deals with you as a mama or A DADDY,

  283. HEY, TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR HOME.

  284. IT MAY BE, GOD, HELP US, A YOUNG PERSON,

  285. THAT GOD USES YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  286. AT SCHOOL. IT MAY BE, HEY, THAT YOUR

  287. CHURCH NEEDS SOMEBODY TO STEP UP AND

  288. MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE for God.

  289. >> That's right.

  290. >> Number one, as we think about this man

  291. that God wanted to use, WE NOTICE THE

  292. REJECTION OF a divine burden.

  293. >> You see the original call in verse one.

  294. Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah

  295. the son of Amati, saying, "Arise, go to

  296. Nineveh, that great city, and cry

  297. AGAINST IT, FOR THEIR wickedness is come

  298. up before me." This original call came

  299. about a perilous place. It came about a

  300. putrid people. It came now to a painful

  301. prescription. God is getting ready to

  302. deal in his divine judgment out on these

  303. wicked individuals. AND THEY REALLY, TO

  304. BE HONEST, THEY DID NOT DESERVE A SECOND

  305. CHANCE from God.

  306. >> That's right.

  307. >> They were wicked in their warfare. They

  308. were grotesque in everything they did.

  309. They were VILE AND VIOLENT. HEY, THEY

  310. WERE UNGODLY AT EVERY PRACTICE OF THEIR

  311. LIFE. AND THEY DID NOT DESERVE GOD. THEY

  312. WERE HEATHEN GENTILES AND THEY DID NOT

  313. DESERVE A SECOND chance from God.

  314. >> Amen.

  315. >> But then I got to thinking about that.

  316. Look around us tonight.

  317. >> We don't deserve a second CHANCE FROM

  318. GOD. WE ARE HEATHEN GENTILES. HEY, THAT

  319. WOULD BE LEFT TO OUR OWN DEVICES

  320. TONIGHT. WHERE WOULD WE BE BUT HANGING

  321. ON THE EDGE OF HELL? HEY, BUT GOD IN HIS

  322. MERCY ALLOWED THE GOSPEL TO COME TO

  323. THESE PLACES.

  324. >> THE ORIGINAL CALL, GOD SAID, "I HAVE

  325. SEEN THEIR WICKEDNESS,

  326. >> and I've got to see it." Oh, don't you

  327. love God? Can I come down here?

  328. >> All right. I don't want to scare nobody,

  329. but again, people listen better.

  330. Sometimes they ain't going to fall

  331. asleep on me.

  332. You know what I love about God, Brother

  333. Lindsay?

  334. is every time before he's getting ready

  335. to send judgment,

  336. >> he sends somebody with a message.

  337. >> You remember before you got saved, you

  338. know what God did? He sent a preacher

  339. your way. HE SENT A Christian your way.

  340. He sent somebody WITH A GOSPEL TRACK

  341. YOUR WAY. AND THEY STEPPED IN YOUR

  342. WORLD. AND THEY SAID, "HEY, JESUS loves

  343. you. IT'S NOT THE WILL OF THE FATHER

  344. THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL

  345. SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE." HEY, AND

  346. SOMEBODY BEFORE DESTRUCTION HIT YOUR

  347. LIFE, GOD SHOWED UP.

  348. >> Remember what God said in Ezekiel? He

  349. said, "It is Oh, friend, it's not IN HIS

  350. HEART." HE SAID, "I HAVE NO PLEASURE IN

  351. THE DEATH OF THE WICKED." That's right.

  352. >> But that the wicked recover himself.

  353. Turn ye. He's talking TO ISRAEL. BUT GOD

  354. HELP US. OH, EVERY TIME BEFORE JUDGMENT

  355. FALLS,

  356. >> there's a wonderful warning.

  357. >> Amen.

  358. >> Isn't that just like God? Isn't that the

  359. mercy of God?

  360. Remember, before God dealt out judgment

  361. on Sodom AND GOMORRAH, HE SAID, "SHALL I

  362. HIDE FROM ABRAHAM THE THING WHICH I DO?"

  363. HEY, FRIEND. OH, GOD. AREN'T YOU GLAD

  364. THERE'S A GOD THAT CARES ABOUT PEOPLE?

  365. >> The original call was go because OF

  366. THEIR SIN. THERE'S THE OMNIPOTENCE THAT

  367. CARED. GOD HAD NO pleasure in the death

  368. of those Ninevites.

  369. Even though they didn't deserve help,

  370. they didn't deserve a second chance,

  371. they didn't deserve anything but

  372. destruction and hell, yet God cared.

  373. >> Can I remind you tonight that just

  374. because we're in church in our uh

  375. Tuesday night best, I guess you could

  376. say, doesn't mean we deserve anything

  377. but hell.

  378. >> At our best, we are all together vanity.

  379. At our best, WE'RE STILL HUMANS. AT OUR

  380. BEST, WE STILL NEED THE GRACE OF GOD AND

  381. A LOT OF IT. HEY, WE DON'T DESERVE.

  382. NEITHER DO THEY out there. You say,

  383. "Well, that sinner OUT THERE ON THE

  384. STREET DOESN'T DESERVE IT." HEY, THOSE

  385. DOWN YONDER DOWN THE ROAD, THEY DON'T

  386. DESERVE IT. YOU SAY, "MY FAMILY DON'T

  387. DESERVE IT." NOBODY DOES. YOU DON'T

  388. EITHER. HEY, GOD, HELP US TO realize

  389. >> that's the heart of God.

  390. >> The original call, the omnipotence that

  391. cared. There's the obligation cast off.

  392. Now look at this. You know the story.

  393. Verse three. But Jonah rose up to flee

  394. under Tarsus from the presence of the

  395. Lord. That's somewhere around Spain.

  396. Went down to Japan. He found a ship

  397. going to Tarsus. So he paid the fair

  398. thereof. Went down into it to go with

  399. them unto Tarsus from the presence of

  400. the Lord.

  401. Now he is casting off his divine

  402. obligation and he's running the opposite

  403. direction

  404. >> to escape the presence of the Lord and

  405. his calling. And you know what I'm

  406. thinking and what I'm seeing in our day,

  407. brother. I wonder if the worldliness of

  408. our day is not just a result of the last

  409. days. But I wonder I'm just this is just

  410. me thinking. All right. Sometimes that

  411. gets they tell me that gets me in

  412. trouble. All right. So I try to strong

  413. back, weak mind. I I'm not you know I

  414. heard all my life we're not paying you

  415. to think all this stuff and I'm trying

  416. to use my brain now. Right.

  417. >> I'm wondering,

  418. oh friend, with him going in that

  419. opposite direction, I wonder if we ain't

  420. got a generation of church folks that

  421. have heard the word of God and instead

  422. of wanting to do what God says, they're

  423. trying to get away from his presence. So

  424. they because they think if they can get

  425. away from the conviction and the burden

  426. and the heaviness that it will alleviate

  427. them from having to do what God says.

  428. You're

  429. >> right. I I'm I'm wondering. I mean, my

  430. soul makes me wonder about I mean, it

  431. some young men don't want to surrender

  432. to preach, so they go off into try to go

  433. to the world. They try to loose that

  434. conviction off of their life. I I don't

  435. understand all but I'm WONDER I'M I'M

  436. JUST WONDERING. I don't know. I'm hoping

  437. it's not the case, but I'm wondering if

  438. we're just in a day and we're living in

  439. a day where we're trying to get away

  440. from his presence. You know why? Because

  441. his presence requires something of us.

  442. >> His presence requires obedience. Oh, God

  443. help. His voice REQUIRES OBEDIENCE. HIS

  444. OH, HIS JUST HIM BEING AROUND US

  445. REQUIRES US TO BE SENSITIVE AND OBEDIENT

  446. TO HIS WILL. And we know that if we get

  447. away from him far enough, his voice will

  448. get fain and distant.

  449. >> And we won't feel as bad or as negative

  450. or as pained about what he's wanting us

  451. to do.

  452. >> Oh my. We having fun tonight. I know.

  453. He's running now. You You can look at it

  454. on a map. I ain't got time. They got one

  455. of them screens up there. We ain't got

  456. time to look at it. But the but the map

  457. I mean my preacher is always talking

  458. about want one of them screens. We ain't

  459. got one yet.

  460. You can look where God sends him is all

  461. the way over here on the map if you're

  462. looking at from my perspective. And

  463. where he goes is all the way in the

  464. opposite direction.

  465. >> How many people tonight I'm asking, are

  466. you running in the opposite direction?

  467. Good.

  468. >> Are you going against God's word, God's

  469. blessings, God's voice, God's help?

  470. >> Oh, God, help us.

  471. >> Amen.

  472. >> There's the rejection of a divine

  473. burden. Number two, and I've got to move

  474. on. There's the results of a detourred

  475. blessing.

  476. Oh, goodness. Verse number three, you've

  477. read it, you've heard it preached. The

  478. middle of verse three, he found a ship

  479. going to Tarsus. So, he paid the fair

  480. thereof and went down into it. You know

  481. what he's doing? He is now willing to

  482. pay the price. You're

  483. >> right.

  484. >> To go the opposite direction,

  485. >> right?

  486. >> You know what's going to happen if you

  487. choose to go the opposite direction of

  488. God. You will pay a price

  489. >> and it's steep and you won't like it and

  490. you ain't get and there's no refunds and

  491. you're not getting your money back and

  492. YOU'RE NOT PASSING GO AND YOU'RE NOT

  493. COLLECTING $200. HEY, YOU'RE NOT GETTING

  494. THAT FAIR MONEY BACK,

  495. >> RIGHT? Oh friend, the cost of his

  496. departure. Let me just say, if you

  497. choose to go sideways, if you choose to

  498. go the other way, if you choose to be

  499. unfaithful, if you choose to go the way

  500. of the world, HEY, THERE IS A PRICE TO

  501. PAY,

  502. >> RIGHT?

  503. >> There's the cost of his departure.

  504. There's the concern of death. The

  505. shipmaster comes to him in the middle OF

  506. THAT SUN. AS SOON AS JONAH STEPS ON

  507. board that ship and they loose their

  508. moorings from that from that arbor,

  509. >> Jonah is now headed in the opposite

  510. direction out the Mediterranean. And God

  511. is not GOING TO DEAL gently until Jonah

  512. is back in the will of God.

  513. >> Can I just be real honest tonight?

  514. >> Anybody ever been out of the will of God

  515. before?

  516. I just been I took a job out of the will

  517. of God. I was there for six days. I had

  518. no peace. I couldn't pray. I was

  519. miserable. I cried all the time for no

  520. reason. It was insane. And when I

  521. finally walked into that office and

  522. said, "I'm out of here. God don't want

  523. me here." Boom. Right back to where it

  524. was supposed to be.

  525. >> Oh yeah. I was young. I was about

  526. y'all's age back then. Oh yeah. I mean,

  527. I I stepped out of the will of God. BUT

  528. YOU KNOW WHAT? IT'S NOT FUN being in the

  529. will of God.

  530. >> Come on,

  531. >> Lindsay. I I'm concerned. See, he's

  532. headed to Spain. They've got everything.

  533. They've got the They've got stuff to

  534. see. They got stuff to do. THEY GOT

  535. WORLDLY. SEE, JONAH'S thinking he's

  536. going to get where all the worldly

  537. pleasures are.

  538. >> And he he he's going to get in that

  539. area. It reminds me of Vanity Fair and

  540. Pilgrim's Progress. He's going to get

  541. where all that wicked stuff is and he's

  542. it's going to drown out the voice of

  543. God.

  544. >> Yeah.

  545. >> But the thing about the voice of God is

  546. it's a whole lot louder than something

  547. you hear with your ears.

  548. and his will and his HAND IS A WHOLE LOT

  549. BIGGER THAN YOUR LITTLE TRIP DOWN TO

  550. TARSES AND HE OH YEAH YOU THINK WELL GOD

  551. WON'T BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH ME DOWN THERE

  552. AND GOD WON'T BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH ME

  553. ONCE I PAY THE FAIR AND I'VE INVESTED IN

  554. THIS OTHER WAY OH LET ME TELL YOU

  555. SOMETHING YOU GOING TO FIND OUT THAT GOD

  556. WILL ROCK YOUR BOAT HONEY IF HE'LL GET

  557. YOUR ATTENTION GOD IS ABLE HEY TO SHAKE

  558. YOUR WORLD TO MAKE YOU listen

  559. >> oh God help

  560. It bothers me and I really do wonder

  561. these people that act like they're

  562. enjoying headed towards

  563. >> Tarsus

  564. >> and there's never any boat rocking and

  565. it's always smooth sailing.

  566. >> I really wonder if they've belonged to

  567. God or not.

  568. >> Tell it preacher. Yeah.

  569. >> Oh my. Let me just say if you're without

  570. chastening.

  571. >> Yeah. Come on.

  572. >> And you're not his. Right.

  573. >> The cost of his departure, the concern

  574. of death, those people. Now, he has

  575. stepped onto a boat. And he's not by Oh,

  576. yeah. God help. He's not by himself

  577. anymore.

  578. >> He's now endangering the lives and

  579. souls.

  580. >> That's it. You're right.

  581. >> He's endangering the lives and the

  582. souls.

  583. >> You're right.

  584. >> Of people around him.

  585. >> These people don't know God. The only

  586. THING THEY KNOW ABOUT GOD IS WHAT

  587. THEY'VE the little bit they've heard

  588. before

  589. >> and what they're seeing in his life and

  590. what they're really. Matter of fact,

  591. when things got START GOING CRAZY,

  592. THEY'RE CALLING OUT ON their gods.

  593. They're thinking THEY'LL APPEASE THEIR

  594. LITTLE G GODS AND IT'LL FIX EVERYTHING.

  595. THAT'S THE WAY PAGANS THINK. THEY GOT TO

  596. MAKE AN OFFER AND THEY GOT TO DO THIS.

  597. JONAH KNOWING THE whole time it's me.

  598. >> It's my fault. OH, GOD HELP. I sure

  599. wouldn't want to be the cause to HOLD

  600. BACK GOD'S BLESSING. I SURE WOULDN'T

  601. WANT TO ENDANGER SOMEBODY ELSE. I SURE

  602. DON'T WANT TO SEND SOMEBODY TO HELL,

  603. HEY, BECAUSE OF MY DISOBEDIENCE. BUT YOU

  604. KNOW WHAT? EVERY DAY THE TIME PIECE OF

  605. GOD IS TICKING TOWARDS JUDGMENT. HEY,

  606. NINE OF US STILL WAITING FOR A PREACHER

  607. AND THESE BOYS ARE ON THIS SHIP ABOUT TO

  608. DIE.

  609. >> AMEN.

  610. >> Will you wake up?

  611. >> Will you realize the mess that we're in

  612. in our day?

  613. >> God help us.

  614. He was jeopardizing the lives of Let me

  615. just say this. When you choose to live

  616. your own way, you are endangering the

  617. lives and the souls of those around you.

  618. >> Your spouse, your children, their

  619. future.

  620. >> You may put them in a tail spin they'll

  621. never get out of.

  622. >> I've seen it happen over and over and

  623. over when mom and daddy go sideways.

  624. I've seen it affect the next generation

  625. over and over and over again.

  626. >> That's right.

  627. There's the constraining of deity.

  628. They call out. He finally says, "I'm a

  629. Hebrew and I fear the Lord." Finally,

  630. he's getting a little bit honest. That's

  631. a good thing.

  632. >> Which made the heaven which had made the

  633. sea and the dry land. Now, they know

  634. it's his fault. Now, they're wondering

  635. and he tells them it's me. And he said,

  636. "If you'll turn me, turn me over and

  637. throw me overboard, everything will be

  638. okay."

  639. By the way, that's one time when going

  640. overboard's a good thing,

  641. >> right?

  642. >> Some of y'all get that after a while.

  643. >> You know what I believe it's time for?

  644. It's time for some of God's people to go

  645. overboard.

  646. >> That's right.

  647. >> Into the will of God.

  648. >> Hey, when you when your boats are

  649. rocking, when everything's upside down

  650. cuz you're out of God's will, it's time

  651. to go overboard to get right with God.

  652. >> Come on, pre.

  653. >> He went overboard to get right with God.

  654. >> Yes.

  655. >> And you know what? When he got into that

  656. fish's belly, you know what he did? He

  657. went overboard in repentance.

  658. He's out of the belly of hell, cried I.

  659. He said, he said, "The Lord's HEARD ME

  660. BY THE TIME IT'S over with." That thing

  661. spits him up, gets sick and tired of

  662. him.

  663. >> And guess what? He went overboard and

  664. getting back in the will of God.

  665. >> When he got there, he started crying

  666. out, doing what GOD FINALLY SAID TO DO.

  667. AND you know what happened? That city

  668. went overboard in repentance.

  669. >> You're right.

  670. >> They wouldn't even let the animals eat

  671. anything.

  672. >> You're right.

  673. >> Maybe that God will look on us. Yeah.

  674. >> I'm just saying if you'll just go

  675. overboard for God, there's no telling.

  676. >> Amen.

  677. >> There's no telling what God might do

  678. around you.

  679. >> I'm almost done. Can I get somebody on

  680. the piano? They'll think I'm quitting.

  681. It'll help them listen better. Last

  682. couple minutes here. Thirdly, and

  683. lastly, there is the repentance

  684. of a desperate blunderer.

  685. >> Look at the end. Verse 17, ver back up

  686. to verse 15. And so they took up Jonah,

  687. cast him forth into the sea, and the sea

  688. ceased from her raging. Isn't it amazing

  689. how quick things calm down when you get

  690. back in the will of God?

  691. >> Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly

  692. and offered a sacrifice unto the Lord

  693. and made vows. Now the Lord had prepared

  694. a great fish to swallow up Jonah. Jonah

  695. was in the belly of the fish three days

  696. and three nights. Y'all know that. And I

  697. call this the preparation of the loving

  698. savior

  699. >> to allow his backward servant to have a

  700. moment to get right with God

  701. >> to come back and say, "Lord, I'm sorry."

  702. >> Isn't it amazing that God was trying to

  703. do that for all of Nineveh? And now he's

  704. giving this opportunity to his servant

  705. to say, "Lord, I'M SORRY I FAILED. HEY,

  706. pick me back up. SET ME ON MY FEET

  707. AGAIN. I'LL DO YOUR WILL. I'LL DO

  708. WHATEVER YOU WANT ME TO DO. I'LL GO

  709. WHERE YOU WANT ME TO GO. HEY FRIEND, IF

  710. YOU'VE NEVER PUT YOURSELF ON THE ALTAR

  711. AND SAID, "GOD, WHATEVER YOU WANT,

  712. TONIGHT WOULD BE A GRAND TIME TO GIVE

  713. YOURSELF AWAY AND LET GOD DO WHAT HE

  714. WANTS WITH YOU."

  715. >> AMEN.

  716. >> There's the preparation of the loving

  717. savior, the prayer of the lowly seeker.

  718. He said, "Salvation is of the Lord."

  719. And God set him back on his feet again.

  720. There's the potential of a listening

  721. center.

  722. >> Verse number one of chapter 3. And the

  723. word of the Lord came unto Jonah the

  724. second time, saying, arise and go to

  725. Nineveh, and preach unto it that the

  726. preaching that I bid thee.

  727. And when he does, the Bible said the

  728. people of Nineveh believed God.

  729. >> Amen.

  730. >> They proclaimed a fast. Yeah.

  731. >> I want you to start playing, sis.

  732. Whenever you're ready, I want us to

  733. stand across the building tonight. Our

  734. heads are bowed. Our eyes are closed.

  735. He finally went,

  736. but I believe he he didn't have to go

  737. through all that mess if he' just went

  738. to start with.

  739. >> Church, this altar's open tonight. I

  740. don't know your need. I don't know if

  741. God spoke to you about anything. I have

  742. no idea.

  743. But I know as long as you're waiting out

  744. of the will of God, as long as you're

  745. going the opposite direction of God, as

  746. long as you're in obstinate rebellion to

  747. his word,

  748. souls are in danger and will never make

  749. the difference we need to make before

  750. Jesus comes again.

  751. Folks are praying, how about you

  752. tonight? You'll never be the mama or

  753. daddy you need to be. You'll never be

  754. the grandma, grandpa you need to be.

  755. You'll never be the church member you

  756. need to be as long as you're going in

  757. the opposite direction.

  758. Give yourself up. GIVE YOURSELF OVER.

  759. SAY, "GOD, WHATEVER you want,

  760. I'm yours.

  761. You don't have to pay the fair. You

  762. don't have to go the other way."

  763. I've heard preachers in days gone by

  764. call it the high price for low living.

  765. Maybe God would do a work tonight.

  766. Maybe God is s See, God's in the

  767. salvaging business.

  768. Maybe he'd salvage you, salvage your

  769. family, salvage your future.

  770. Folks are still praying. How about you

  771. do business with the Lord tonight?

  772. God wants your life. If God wants all of

  773. you,

  774. you say, "I can't make a difference."

  775. Oh, yes you can.

  776. Folks to pray and do business with the

  777. Lord. Maybe you're here and you lost.

  778. It's time to stop running.

  779. Give your life to the Lord.

  780. Amen. Every head still bowed.

  781. You're here tonight and you're lost. You

  782. say, "Preacher, I'm not saved." You pray

  783. for me. You just slip your hand up.

  784. We'll pray for you tonight.

  785. Preacher, I'm not saved. You pray for

  786. me.

  787. God sees that. God sees that.

  788. I tell you what, you can be saved

  789. tonight.

  790. You can be saved.

  791. Say, "Preacher, what does that mean?

  792. What does that what does that salvation

  793. mean? Well, Bible says because of your

  794. sin.

  795. Your sin condemns you.

  796. And that sin in your life, who you are,

  797. you're a sinner by birth. You're a

  798. sinner by choice. You live each day.

  799. Your sin condemns you. And that sin

  800. condemns you to a place called hell.

  801. You say, "Preacher, how could a loving

  802. God send me there?" Well, truth is God's

  803. never sent anybody there.

  804. People's own decisions,

  805. your willful disobedience.

  806. David said, "I was shaped in iniquity

  807. and sin did my mother conceive me."

  808. And because of that, you need a savior.

  809. I'll say this. Jesus died to save you.

  810. And he promised to save you. If you'd

  811. ask, these altars are open. If you want

  812. to come tonight and be saved, you can be

  813. saved.

  814. I'll say this tonight. You're here and

  815. you say, "Preacher, I'm I'm saved. I

  816. know I'm saved, but preacher, I'm

  817. running.

  818. Preacher, I'm running. Preacher, would

  819. you pray for me?"

  820. Anybody? Preacher, I'm running. You slip

  821. your hand up. I'll pray for you tonight.

  822. Preacher, I'm running from God.

  823. God sees that.

  824. Let me tell you this tonight.

  825. You can learn from the story of Jonah

  826. that

  827. there ain't a place far enough.

  828. There ain't a hole deep enough.

  829. There's not an ocean

  830. dark enough that you can get away from

  831. the presence of God.

  832. But I'll tell you this, if you'll follow

  833. him, you'll know peace.

  834. These altars are still open tonight.

  835. Some still praying.

  836. Father, I pray in Jesus name tonight.

  837. Lord, I thank you for the man of God

  838. minding you tonight.

  839. And Lord, I know there's there's dire

  840. needs in this building tonight. There's

  841. desperate circumstances,

  842. Lord. There's troubles, God, that only

  843. you can handle.

  844. And Lord, I pray, Father, tonight, God,

  845. that you would reach down,

  846. take hold of these troubles, Father.

  847. Lord, truth is me, most of our troubles

  848. are on making

  849. God. Jonah, if he just would have went

  850. where you said the first time, Lord, he

  851. never would have wound up in that boat.

  852. He never would have wound up the bottom

  853. of the sea in a belly of the fish.

  854. But God, I'm thankful that when he did

  855. get to that place, he realized that he

  856. needed to call on you. And God, I pray,

  857. Father, that each heart that's here, I

  858. pray for that one tonight that's lost.

  859. God, I pray that they wouldn't leave

  860. this place lost. God, I pray for those

  861. that's out of the will of God that's

  862. running. Lord, I pray, Father, you deal

  863. with their heart.

  864. Lord, because there'll be a day

  865. >> when they can't run anymore.

  866. And Lord, I pray, Father, you'd grant

  867. him grace. And Lord, for what you do,

  868. we'll give you thanks because we ask it

  869. in Jesus' name. Amen.
