uh I'm just thankful that Jesus puts a

song in your heart when you get saved.

Amen. And I sure appreciate the meeting

this week. I appreciate this man of God.

And uh I'm thankful. I was praying uh

for the meeting. And I'll be honest with

you, and he don't know this. I hadn't

told him this, but when the Lord

prompted me to have him come uh what I

believe he's going to preach tonight,

what God put on his heart is the reason

why I felt impressed to have him come.

And uh what he's going to preach

tonight, I'll tell you this, it's

something that we all need and it's

straight from his heart. Amen. And this

is probably the only time you'll ever

hear him go over 30 minutes. Amen. And I

told him, "Preach as long as he needs."

Amen. And I appreciate him so very much.

And he's a hero of mine. And preacher,

you come preach to us tonight. Take all

the time you need. Close it out how you

see fit. And I ain't got you the mic

yet, have I? Amen. Okay.

>> There you go. You'll be hooked up now.

So, praise God. Let's get behind him.

>> Amen.

Well, it's good to be in the Lord's

house tonight.

>> And it's good to be saved and washed in

the blood of the lamb of God.

>> And uh it's good to know that there is

more to it than this. Paul said, "If in

this life only we have hope, we are of

all men most miserable." But I'm glad

there's more to it than this.

>> And uh I love that good good singing

tonight. It's been a blessing to be

here. Somebody asked if I was going to

sing tonight. I probably ain't. This is

my sixth straight day preaching and I my

voice is waning a little bit. I quit

smoking last week

and uh started vaping but it's still not

helping me as much and uh

y'all think I'm kidding. I really am.

Okay, some of y'all really but uh I

think it is time to preach tonight. And

uh but let's take our Bibles this

evening and find the book of 1 Timothy

1 Timothy 5 · chapter mention

chapter 5. And uh the pastor asked me

about this message. Uh am I on, brother?

There we go. Okay. Give me If you got

any more monitors, that'd be great. I

like I like monitors. I don't care if

they can hear me as long as I can hear

me. And uh save my voice. I still got

two more times Sunday. Um but uh he

asked about this last night and so I the

Lord's not told me no. If I strike out,

it's the preacher's fault. I'm off the

hook. Okay. Like it's preacher's fault.

But um I'm going to say this too while

you're turning. I appreciate your p your

pastor and his wife and his children.

And um I can say this because I've been

in his spot.

>> He's young.

>> Don't make an old man out of him. You're

>> right.

>> He's a young man. Let him grow with you.

>> The good thing about having a young

pastor is you can have the same pastor

for a long time.

>> I mean, who wants to call 80 year old

pastor? You ain't going to have maybe 20

minutes. I'm out being mean. It's just

the reality of it. And so

I mean it's the truth. I mean I mean how

many guys getting called? I mean so um

potential you can have him pastor you

for 60 years. And uh some of you are

like oh lord don't worry you ain't going

to be here that long. And uh but but

love him, pray for him and uh let him

grow with you.

>> And you uh you back him up and say,

"Well, why does he do what he does?"

Well, he was born in the 2000s. That's

why. Amen. And uh but uh he's got a

heart for God.

>> And I'm going to tell you this too. Paul

told Timothy, "Let no man despise thy

youth."

>> I started pastoring my church when I was

21. Uh I'd got married in September. The

church called me in November.

>> And so we got thrown right in the frying

pan. And there were people at our church

at the time that thought because of my

age that I would just preach and not

pastor.

And uh you need to let them and I I

don't know anything. All right, but let

him be your pastor. Let him be your

preacher. God will bless you for it.

>> And uh you know, everybody wants to brag

on Harold Sidler and Maize Jackson, all

those guys. They were 21 one time.

>> You're right.

>> And they grew. So you pray for him, back

him up, support him, and God will bless

you for it. And uh then take care of his

wife, appreciate her, and take care of

her. I've been saying this lately, and

uh y'all to do something for their

birthdays.

>> Yeah.

>> And good. If you if if you don't if you

already do, praise the Lord. If you

don't, I hope the fleas of a thousand

camels infest your armpits and you die

scratching. But uh do something for

their birthdays. I'll tell you this too,

uh do something for their youngans's

birthdays. I'm a preachers's kid. And uh

I asked my church a couple years ago, I

said, "Would you take part of my

birthday bonus and start giving my kids

something for their birthdays?" I said,

"No, pastor, we're you're keeping your

bonus and we're going to do something

for your kids." cuz I know a lot I know

they're just babies now. Uh but as they

grow up, uh I preach in a lot of places

where I meet preachers kids that are out

because I saw how the church treated

their daddy. And so you be good to him

and his family and I promise you this,

God will bless you for it.

>> He didn't tell me to say any of that.

But um I'm getting I'm middleaged now.

I'm 34. So if I live to be 70, I'm

pretty much middle age.

>> I mean, that's kind of morbid when you

think about that. Uh, but I can start. I

can't wait to get old and say what I

want to. Uh, and my wife said, "Lord,

help that day." But, but, uh, God will

bless you for it. And, uh, I know

Brother Austin preached that direction

Wednesday night, and I appreciate what

the church done Wednesday for them. That

is, you'd be surprised. I preach in

churches that are, uh, and, oh man, it's

disrespectful. I pastor a small a

smaller church than this. I preach in

churches twice this big. They don't do

anything for their pastor's birthday.

They don't do anything for their

anniversary. they never take care of

them. And so, God bless you for doing

what you did Wednesday night, church. I

commend you and thank you for it. And uh

praise God. And then I appreciate

Brother Austin. He's my buddy and we've

had a good time hanging out the last

couple days riding together. He forgot

his Bible tonight. Can you believe that?

He forgot his Bible. But luckily, the

pastor had an extra NIV in his office

and so we gave him that one.

I'm just kidding. Okay. I'm just

kidding.

Would you stand tonight for the reading

of his word? 1 Timothy chapter 5.

1 Timothy 5 · chapter mention

Somebody say, "You cut up and laugh a

lot." Look, I've been in church every

night this week. If I don't laugh, have

a good time in church. Last time I

checked, the joy of the Lord is your

strength.

>> And uh I'm not going to let Baptist or

Democrats ruin my shout. I'm just going

to have a good time and enjoy Jesus.

Amen. And I thank God for it. 1 Timothy

1 Timothy 5 · chapter mention

chapter 5 tonight and verse number 23.

My favorite part of the sermon. I preach

verse by verse at my church through

books of the Bible. There's a blessing

about that. You always know the next

verse you're going to get to. The bad

part is you get to verses like this one

where you can't skip it because if you

skip the verse, everybody knows he

didn't know anything about that verse.

He skipped it. And uh so we're going to

look at this verse tonight and give you

the burden of my heart tonight. Amen.

Again, preacher, thank you for

everything. I I really appreciate the

opportunity to be here. 1 Timothy 5:23,

1 Timothy 5:23

Paul says, "Drink no longer water, but

use a little wine for thy stomach's sake

and thine often infirmities."

Let's go to God in just a word of prayer

tonight. Lord, we love you tonight

because you first loved us. Lord, I

thank you, Lord, for the opportunity

it's been these nights to be here at

Meadows Baptist Church with Pastor

Branch and his family and his church

family. Lord, there's a good spirit

here, and I thank you for that. And I

appreciate these people, Lord, how they

love their preacher. And Lord, I hope

they receive just an admonition,

encouragement that I just gave there.

Lord, I I thank you for all they do for

them. I pray God that you continue to

knit the heart of this church and this

pastor together that you may bless them

and Lord many souls may come to Christ

and that Jesus would be glorified uh

through the ministry of this church. May

the greatest days of Medis Baptist

Church uh yet be in her future. Bless

Pastor Charlie and his wife and his

babies and this church. Use them for thy

glory. The Lord help in this message

tonight. Lord I want to be obedient uh

to what you've given us and Lord help us

to be a blessing to God's people. Bless

protect my family while I'm away tonight

in Jesus name. Amen. Thank you for

standing. You may be seated. I

appreciate you for standing for the

reading of his word. Uh when I preach, I

I try to study preaching. I try to read

books on preaching just as a mechanic

would always be uh studying his art. I

always want to study on preaching

because I want to be the best preacher I

can be first of all for the Lord Jesus

Christ. But then I want to be the best

preacher I can be for my church and and

try to be able to feed them. And one man

that I was reading behind, he said this

about preaching. He said, "Preaching

ought to do three things. Number one,

you ought to read the text. And then

number two, you ought to explain the

text. And then the last thing you ought

to do is apply the text. Well, that's

what I want to do with this verse

tonight. First Timothy 5, uh, Paul is

dealing with several different things.

He's dealing with the qualification of a

widow, rebuking an elder, meeting the

monetary needs of the pastor, things of

that nature. AND THEN RIGHT in the

middle of it all, he gives this little

word of admonition to Timothy. And he

says, "Drink no longer water, but use a

little wine for thy stomach's sake and

thine often infirmities." Now, some of

y'all are real nervous and some of y'all

are real excited. There's half of y'all

tonight that thinks you're going to get

to go by the ABC liquor store on the way

home and have scripture to do it. Then

the rest of y'all are wondering, "What

has our pastor brought into our church?"

All right, so let me just go ahead and

clear the air. I am against the

consumption of alcohol.

>> I preach in North Wilsburg, but I'm

against moonshine, too. Okay? I I mean,

I I'm against the consumption OF

ALCOHOL. WINE IS A MOCKER, AND STRONG

DRINK IS A RAGE, AND whosoever deceived

thereby is not wise. I'm against

alcohol. Somebody say, "WELL, YOU KNOW,

PREACHER, JESUS TURNED WATER INTO WINE

in John 2." WELL, IT WAS NOT fermented

wine, and I'll prove it to you FROM THE

BIBLE. HAD JESUS TURNED THAT WINE OR

that water into AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE,

THEN WE are all going TO HELL TONIGHT.

BECAUSE THE PROPHET HABACH SAID, "WOE to

him that PUT HIS STRONG DRINK TO his

neighbor's lips." And so if Jesus made

that water INTO AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE,

THEN WE'RE ALL GOING TO HELL TONIGHT CUZ

THAT MEANS JESUS would have sinned THAT

WAS NOT FERMENTED WINE. JESUS NEVER GOT

AROUND ANYTHING that stayed dead. Amen.

>> And so, uh, I'm glad tonight that Jesus

did not do that and what's going on in

this passage. There's three things I

want to say about it in explanation.

Then I'll make my application and then

we might go to Dario and get an ice

cream cone. How about that? But don't

tell my wife she loves Dario. Would

y'all join me in prayer? They might put

a Dario in Salsbury. Okay. Every town

needs a Dario. I believe that every

creature needs a preacher and every town

needs a Dario. All right. Three things

tonight in this verse. I see. First of

all, I want us to note the sickness

pronounced. Notice what Paul says. Drink

no longer water, but use a little wine

for thy stomach's sake and thine often

infirmities. You know what this verse

teaches us tonight? Very simply, it

teaches us you CAN BE SAVED, YOU can be

separated, YOU CAN BE SOLD OUT, YOU CAN

BE SERVING GOD AND STILL get sick. All

right.

>> You listen to that crowd on TBNN. You

listen to that Kenneth Cop and all that

crowd. Uh they'll preach and tell you

that if you live for God, if you LOVE

THE LORD, UH METER BY METER, LIFE WILL

GO SWEETER. YOU'LL NEVER GET SICK. Uh

you'll never have a bad hair day. You'll

never have any problems. It'll all JUST

BE GOOD IN THE HOOD AND ALL THAT GOOD

STUFF. BUT I'M GOING TO TELL YOU

TONIGHT, HERE'S WHAT JOB SAID. MAN UH

THAT IS BORN OF A WOMAN IS A FEW DAYS

AND FULL OF TROUBLE. We are not promised

AN EASY LIFE. OH, WE'RE not promised

THAT LIFE WILL ALWAYS BE A BED OF ROSES.

HONEY, SOMETIMES WE'RE PROMISED THORNS

AND WE'RE PROMISED TRIALS AND

DIFFICULTIES AND STORMS THAT WE WALK

THROUGH IN THIS LIFE. Here's Timothy.

HE'S SOLD OUT. HE'S SAVED. HE'S LIVING

FOR GOD. HE'S TRYING TO SERVE THE LORD.

HE'S TRYING TO BE FAITHFUL WHERE GOD'S

PUT HIM. AND YET, HE STILL GOT SICK.

RIGHT.

>> I dare say in the audience of this size

tonight, there are people representing

here that's all have been touched with

cancer. Somebody in your family, maybe

you personally, I know he's praying for

the dear sister last night and praise

God for the good report. But it seems

like more and more we hear about

sickness and we hear about infirmities

and we hear about to turmoil AND AND WE

SAY, "WAIT A MINUTE THOUGH. I'M TRYING

TO SERVE GOD AND I'M TRYING TO BE

FAITHFUL and I'm going to Sunday school

AND SUNDAY MORNING AND SUNDAY NIGHT AND

I'M BEING FAITHFUL, BUT YET SICKNESS and

calamity still touch my life." You know

what I'm talking about tonight?

>> It's still going to happen.

>> Now, what is Timothy's sickness here?

Well, it was personal. He said, "Thy."

>> It was private. He said, "Thy stomach's

sake." I'm not trying to be rude

tonight, but nobody wants to talk about

stomach issues. But Timothy's probably

dealing with dysentery is what most

Bible commentators believe. This

dysentery probably resulted because they

did not have the water filtration

systems that we have today. And so is

common today. Most people get dysentery

from the drinking water. And I believe

that's what causes Timothy's trouble. It

was personal. It was private. But it was

perpetual. He said, "Thine often

infirmities." It wasn't just something

he dealt with one day, pastor. It was

something that was constantly in his

life. Do you KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE to wake

up every morning and your problem be

staring you in the face? I'm not talking

about your spouse, okay? But I'm talking

ABOUT PROBLEM, THAT TRIAL, THAT

DIFFICULTY be staring you in THE FACE.

YOU HOPE THAT WITH THE EVENING'S NIGHT,

with the sun going down, you hope you

hope in THE MORNING'S LIGHT THAT IT'LL

JUST GO AWAY. BUT THAT PROBLEM'S STILL

THERE.

>> IT just won't go away. Yeah,

>> there's sickness pronounced in this

verse. The second thing I I see in this

verse is the sadness of Paul.

>> Now, let me teach Sunday school for a

minute on Friday night. We all know

tonight that Paul was an apostle born

out of due season.

>> Paul was the I had a fellow on Facebook

tell me he was a prophet.

>> And so I put Luke 16:16 for the prophets

Luke 16:16

were until John. And he said, "Well, you

tell the Lord that." I said, "I don't

have to tell the Lord you're not a

prophet. He already knows that." Okay.

Amen. I have the gift of exhortation.

Can you tell? Amen. And sarcasm is my

spirit. Sarcasm is my love language.

Just be honest with you. Uh

but uh Paul is the last of the apostles.

He has apostolic power. I could take you

to Acts 14 tonight and show you where

Paul healed a man that was a lame man. I

can take you to Acts 20 where Paul

didn't read my book on why you should be

a 30-minute preacher. He preached for

six hours. Yep.

>> Right.

>> Sounds like some camp meetings I've been

in.

You know, you get in a meeting

>> and it's be like 9:30 at night. They've

had 184 preachers already. And the

moderator struggling. Should we have

another preacher? And we're like, you

know, please no. And there's always one

MORE ON THE BACK. PREACH. I'm like, shut

up. We want to go to Waffle House.

I mean, Paul's preaching that night. I

I'm a preacher's kid, okay? I can say

stuff like that. I mean, you know, it's

just it's just, you know, hang an amen

on that thing. Let's go to THE HOUSE. WE

GOT IT. I mean, we got it. Okay, let's

go home. But my wife said the reason

guys preach long, they like to hear

themselves talk. Okay,

PAUL'S PREACHING FOR 6 HOURS. UDICUS

FELL OUT OF THE WINDOW. Long preaching

can be deadly.

Udicus died.

It's very dangerous. Amen. Some of y'all

ain't laughed all week long.

YOU KNOW WHAT PAUL DID, THOUGH? HE He

went down there and raised that boy from

the dead.

>> That's apostolic power.

>> I mean, Paul Paul is OVER THERE IN ACTS

28. HE JUST GOT SHIPWRECKED. AND WHAT'S

HE OVER THERE DOING? HE'S HEALING PEOPLE

THAT MIGHT LEAD THEM. HE'S HELPING

PEOPLE, BEING A BLESSING to them.

>> I mean, that's amazing.

>> Yeah.

>> Paul has spent his ministry healing

people that he don't even know.

>> You're right.

>> Now, this just ain't anybody who's sick

in 1 Timothy 5:23. It's his preacher

1 Timothy 5:23

boy.

>> He saw Timothy get saved. He saw Timothy

get sold out to God, get called to

preach. I MEAN, HE IS TIMOTHY'S NOT ONLY

JUST FATHER IN THE FAITH, BUT PROBABLY

THE ONLY FATHER FIGURE he has in his

life because we don't know where

Timothy's dead. He's at

>> right.

>> If there's anybody that Paul would want

to heal,

>> it'd be Timothy.

>> Y

>> Why don't Paul heal Timothy? I'm going

to give you two options, and you can

pick either one that works for the

sermon. It could be that the healings

were not like, you know, uh at any time,

what a superpower. you know, they just

heal somebody when they wanted to. And I

believe that's true. I don't think they

just heal. I think the healing had to be

in the will of God. And I want to remind

you that every healing in the Bible was

always for the purpose of evangelism.

>> It was always THE SCRIPTURES HAD NOT

been completed yet. And so those

miracles and sign gifts were to prove to

people their vindication in the gospel

ministry.

>> That's the reason we don't have to have

signs today. We have scriptures.

>> But here's what I believe. I I do

believe the first part, but I believe

the main thing here, I don't think Paul

could heal Timothy in this passage. You

remember in 1 Corinthians 12:13 and 14,

1 Corinthians 12:13

Paul talks about spiritual gifts and the

signs and that one which is perfect is

come which was done in part to be done

away with. I think the sign gifts are

fading off the scene. And I think Paul

is losing his ability to heal in this

passage. I can take you to two other

places in the scripture where Paul

didn't heal somebody. Over there in

Philippians chapter number three,

Apapraditis brings him a love offering.

And Paul writes back to the church of

Philippi and said, "God had mercy on

Apapraditis and on me because she had

heard he had been sick, even dying to

death."

>> Now, Apaproditis brought Paul a LOVE

OFFERING. IF THERE'S ANYBODY I WANT TO

HEAL, SIR,

>> say amen, evangelist. IT'S THE GUY

WRITING MY CHECK.

>> Then at first, some of y'all like, wait,

you know, I can't believe you're talking

about money. Well, you want your boss,

man, to get sick and can't write your

check. Somebody help me. Amen. Over in 2

Timothy 4, he left Trothamus sick at

Mileum.

>> Left him sick.

>> I don't think Paul could heal Timothy.

Them sign gifts are fading off. I'm

going to tell you, as much as your

preacher loves you, as much as he cares

about you, there's a line where he can't

help you.

>> You're right.

>> You know why? At the end of the day,

he's a man.

>> He's the man of God, but that man is the

first part of he's just a man. He's

God's man, but he has limitations.

>> You're right.

>> That's where Paul's at.

>> There's a sickness pronounced. There's a

sadness of Paul, but then there is a

solution prescribed.

This is where y'all been wanting me to

get to. Preacher, what is this about

drinking wine? Well, first of all, the

Bible does not say Paul does not tell

Timothy to drink wine. He said, "Use

little wine for thy stomach's sake." If

Paul was telling Timothy to drink wine,

then Timothy is now disqualified from

ministry. Because in 1 Timothy 3, Paul

says that the man of God is not to be

given the wine. You're

>> right.

>> HE LITERALLY SAYS IN THE PREVIOUS VERSE,

"KEEP THYSELF PURE."

>> So what's Paul telling Timothy to do?

Here's what I believe. I You remember we

talked about that Timothy's problem was

a mainly a result of the drinking water.

Here's what I believe Paul's telling

Timothy to do. Take that wine, mix it

with your drinking water. It'll purify

it so you can drink it.

>> Good.

>> Rock of Ages had a missionary years ago,

Brother Michael Adams. They was in the

Philippines. They said, "Don't drink the

water." Well, brother Michael's a

cajinjun from down Louisiana down in the

bayou, you know, Judam Elizabeth. That's

where he's from. You know,

he got thirsty and got a glass of water

and got pure ale

and drinking. He's still living to

preach today. Praise the Lord. I mean, I

guess you ate half that stuff ate down

there in Louisiana. A little puree ain't

gonna hurt you. Okay. I believe that's

what he's doing. He's trying to purify

that water. You know what Paul is doing?

He's prescribing medication to Timothy.

You're

>> right.

>> Now, you do not have the blessing of

taking Paul's advice today.

>> Amen.

>> Now, I'm going to turn and look at the

Baptistry because I know I'm in North

Carolina, but if you used to go to my

grandma's house and look under her sink,

you'd find something called rock and

rye.

>> You right.

>> Somebody said, "What's rock and ry?"

Rock candy and a whole lot of Jack

Daniels and a little bit of honey. My

uncle walked around with a perpetual

coffee old drunk. My grandma, I need

some rock and ride. You know,

we ain't going to ask how many's got

some in their refrigerator tonight. All

right.

I can name some Baptist preachers that I

know has some. Not that I've heard. I

know they got it. Okay.

And they want to use that verse. You

know where Paul say use a little wine.

Well, we have Robbitasin. Okay. All

right.

>> So, here's my point tonight.

Timothy knows that Paul has the ability

to heal, right?

>> He's seen it. And no doubt Timothy has

shared with Paul his issues just like we

would share our prayer requests one

another. Hey Paul, I'm having some I'm

having some often infirmities. You know

what he we know what Timothy's probably

expecting a handkerchief because you

know Paul people are getting hold of

Paul's handkerchiefs at Acts and getting

healed and he gets that letter

handkerchief.

>> I'm not being critical of how any church

does this. Paul don't even call for the

elders of the church to come and he

don't even do that. You know what Paul

does? Paul don't even pray for him. Paul

said, "Timothy, take a little medicine

>> for your stomach's sake."

>> Timothy is expecting a miracle.

But instead, he got medicine.

>> Right.

>> NOW, I BELIEVE TONIGHT, GOD IS ABLE

THROUGH EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL

WE ASK. You believe that tonight? Say,

"Amen."

>> But if God healed everybody, there

wouldn't be funeral homes.

>> YOU'RE RIGHT.

>> IF GOD FIXED EVERYTHING, there wouldn't

be hospitals. That's right.

>> THE SAD REALITY WE'VE GOT TO embrace is

God don't heal everybody.

>> You're right.

>> We've got so charismatic in some of our

Baptist churches.

>> And I'm for having confidence and faith

in the Lord. Don't misunderstand me.

>> But what are you going to do if God

don't

>> Is your faith in THE LORD DEPENDENT ON

HIM FULFILLING YOUR WISH LIST?

>> OR ARE you going to still serve him and

love him if he says no, I'm not going to

do what what you want me to do?

>> Come on. You see, medicine was not what

Timothy expected. He's expecting a

healing. HE'S EXPECTING A MIRACLE. BUT

INSTEAD, HE'S GETTING MEDICINE. I'm

preaching tonight on when you get

medicine instead of a miracle.

>> We all want miracles. We all want God

just to presto, fix all of our problems.

>> He don't do that all the time.

>> You're right.

>> You ever heard of Mary and Martha? Lord

Lazarus, not just any Lazarus, whom thou

lovest is sick.

>> Lazar, I mean, it's just anybody Jesus.

This is the Lazarus that you love. It's

not the Lazarus you hate. It's the

Lazarus you love. He's sick. You know

what Jesus does? He was a terrible

pastor. Terrible pastor. Didn't even

show up at the hospital.

Didn't even show up for the funeral.

He'd been dead and buried four days. By

now, he stinkketh.

I got a friend of mine said he named his

Sunday school program Lazarus because it

stinkketh. Okay. But I mean I mean he

stinkketh. It's bad. And then Jesus

said, "All right, now let's go."

>> Yeah.

>> You know Mary and Martha, they they got

upset at the Lord

>> and they both expressed it different

ways.

>> Martha's a worker. She's a go-getter.

When Jesus got in the edge of Bethany,

she got up in his face. Lord, if you'd

have been here, my brother hadn't died.

She was exactly right theologically.

>> Mary says the same thing, but she's

sitting in the house. Oh, brother Eddie

Davis, one of my mentors. He said, '

Ain't it amazing Jesus didn't step one

foot in the Bethany until Mary got out

of the house.

>> Brother Eddie said, "Lazarus would have

never got out of the tomb had Mary not

got out of the house."

>> Some of you tonight, the Lord did not

give you the miracle and you wouldn't

say it out loud and you wouldn't want to

tell nobody, but you're a little upset

at the Lord.

>> Right.

>> Lord, you you could have fixed that.

>> You could have healed my loved one.

Yeah,

>> you could have kept that my that divorce

from happening.

>> You're right.

>> You could have kept that tragedy from

happen, but you didn't. And you don't

want to tell nobody. You wouldn't say it

out loud, but you're a little upset at

the Lord for not fixing it.

>> That's good, brother.

>> Right.

>> I'm going to ask you a trick question.

I'm telling you right now. I'm trying to

trick you. Do not answer this question.

You hear me? Do not answer it. You ever

been been disappointed IN JESUS? NOPE.

NOT ME, PREACHER. OH, REALLY? I say Mary

and Martha WAS JOHN THE BAPTIST IS THE

ONLY MAN that held the son of God, heard

the voice of God, and saw the spirit of

God at the same time. And John's sitting

in a prison saying, "I'm not even sure

if that's him."

>> Yep.

>> You're right.

>> So, if John the Baptist is struggling

with doubts, you better believe you're

going to struggle with them, honey.

>> Now, I've never been disappointed in

him, my brother, but I've had it all

planned out. Lord, this is what we need

to do.

>> You're right. I've even got a

PowerPoint.

>> You're right.

>> Boom, boom, boom. Three bullet points.

Let's do it, Lord. You That's all right.

>> And then he don't do it like I want him

to do it.

>> And in reality, I get a little upset at

him.

>> We don't want to admit that because we

goodbye on at Baptist. Well, I'll tell

you right now, everything's good. Well,

not everything. It's not always good.

>> Preacher.

>> And I tell you, if anything your

preachers taught me is to be honest,

I'm gonna tell you, preachers are not

superman.

>> There ain't no buy on it at Baptist.

Ain't no super Christians. We're all

sometimes just barely getting by and

trying to hang on to the next week.

>> I told you about my kids last night. I

got Dax and he's my oldest. He's got

ball practice tonight. And uh then uh I

got Judah. Uh hopefully we'll she's four

years old and hopefully she won't go to

the state penitentiary. Um

we we supper early. She had a knife

doing like this. I'm like, uh, I already

see us in the courtroom. When did her

murder attack start? Well, we was at

Texas Roadhouse one night. She had a

knife like this. Okay. Cute as a button.

That's why she'll make a great serial

killer. Nobody would ever expect it.

But then my middle boy, his name's

Sidler. And Siler, he'll be 10 next

month. And um, this is how that's how

the Lord gave me this sermon. The Lord

had to preach it to me. And he still

preaches it to me. Siler when he was

born, when my wife was expecting Sidler,

you mas just something wasn't right.

Even with the pregnancy, things that

nature, they even when he was born, he's

just unusual. And as he got older, we

noticed and I've never I want to meet

this specimen of a kid. You know, you go

you you mas go to the pediatrician,

well, you know, he's in the 88th

percentile. Where's this kid at, you

know, that reads at age, you know, six

months, you know, driving a car by age

two. I mean, he's just got it all

together. I want to meet this kid, you

know, I don't know where he's at. I

mean, there's this perfect kid

somewhere. I mean, he talks knows Latin

by 83, all this kind of stuff. And they

told us he's not talking soon enough. He

ain't got much to say. My wife said he's

a Montgomery. Montgomery's have

something to say.

Shut up.

You're riding with me tonight and you're

using my Bible. Don't push it.

I'm glad we get to serve God together.

said, "Uh, he's not talking like he

should, so speech therapy." We go to

speech therapy and

they said, "Well, he has speech delay

and we think he has this and that and

all this stuff." And and um we'd be in a

restaurant somewhere and he'd put his

hands over his ears and he'd hum back

and forth. Couldn't handle crowds.

Couldn't sit in church. My wife didn't

sit in church for two years because he

couldn't handle noise. She'd have to sit

in my office with him.

And then we're finally getting some

appointments to get a diagnosis six

years ago in March

and the pandemic happened

and all the appointments get cancelled

and it was last May of uh 20 I'm sorry.

Yeah. May of 2020 uh 24. So two years

ago this coming up May that I sat in a

doctor's office and the doctor said,

"Sir, your son is stage two autistic."

There's three levels of autism. We

probably all know somebody that's stage

one. They're high functioning people.

Elon Musk is autistic. A lot of people

don't know that. I'm like, I hope my son

be like a super trillionaire like him

except love Jesus, you know. Like that'd

be awesome. Amen. Just tithe one time.

Just one time, please.

Level three is a child or individual

who's completely non-verbal. Never talk

or anything like that. Siters right in

the middle.

That's not what I wanted.

>> Come on, preacher. Don't look at me like

that.

>> Come on.

>> When you have a when you have a baby

born, you don't expect that they may

never leave your home.

>> You're right.

>> And I used to be scared of special needs

people.

You know, oh, don't look at me like

that. It's just take ain't nobody here

tonight. We see somebody out in public,

they having some issues, what do we do?

We walk around.

>> But when it comes to your house,

>> the problem with Sitler is you look at

him, you can't tell it.

And so when he's acting up in public,

you've got all, and I'm not being this

direct for the old people, okay? I love

old people. My mom, my mom and dad are

old people. I love them, okay? But that

generation, y'all do something with that

kid and they don't know we're trying to.

>> You're right.

>> Be careful about passing judgment.

>> Every kid's not a brat.

>> You're right.

>> There's some kids that generally can't

handle it.

>> You're right.

>> And your whole belt and switch thing, it

don't help.

>> You're right.

just pray for him.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. So I say, "I don't like that."

That's okay. I'm going home tonight.

It's okay.

>> And but we seeing that and trying to

figure that out. And I I u it's not what

I wanted.

>> Can't communicate.

>> He's talking talking a little bit. I'm

going to tell you what are you going to

do when that unexpected thing comes to

your house.

>> Come on, brother.

>> Medicine's not what he expected.

Medicine's not what he enjoyed. I don't

like taking medicine. My grandma does,

but I don't like taking medicine.

You know, because you know why medicine

tastes bad. And there's some things in

life

leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

>> But that ain't what I wanted.

>> You got dreams, you got ambitions, you

got plans.

>> Yeah. And then

just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

>> Medicine is something you got to endure.

>> You're right.

>> Remember your mama growing up, you got a

cough, just swallow it,

>> right?

>> Stick that syrup, get that. Just swallow

it. And sometimes in life, you just got

to swallow some things.

>> You're right.

>> You remember uh you remember Jacob in

our Bible? If any two people in the

world deserve deserved each other, it

was Jacob and Laban. They were both con

artists.

>> Jacob sees Rachel and she was beautiful.

I mean, he fell head over heels in love

with her. He goes to Laban and said, "I

want to marry her. What do we got to

do?" He said, "Serve me for seven

years." And like Jacob's like, "Okay,

that's a great deal. I'll work for seven

years." Some of your dad's like, "Man,

that'd be a great deal. Get my

son-in-law work for him for seven years.

I'll make some money off this kid." You

know, layman's a con artist. Now, Rachel

had a sister

who had a great personality.

>> TO PUT IT LIKE ANDY AND Barney was

trying to tell Gomer about the cousin,

she's nice.

I mean, she's real nice. But is she

pretty nice? Oh, she's nice.

Don't tell me you ain't seen that Andy

Griffin episode. You know exactly what

I'm talking about.

THE BIBLE SAYS THAT LEAH WAS tenderide

in the Hebrew. That means she make a

freight train take a dirt road.

She was u g l y. Didn't have no alibi. M

a m a. How you think she got that way?

Her mama. I mean, she's ugly.

I'm hip. I know the lingo. Okay. I might

be old, but I'm not that old. I got it.

She's ugly. AND I DON'T KNOW HOW LABAN

PULLED THIS OFF, BUT THEY'RE HAVING THE

WEDDING. AND HE WAKES UP THE NEXT

MORNING. The Bible said, "Behold, it was

Leah."

That would be horrible.

One, to marry the wrong woman, BUT THEN

TO MARRY AN ugly woman. Of course, the

old song says, "Always marry an ugly

woman. That's the only kind. Because if

she leaves you, you won't mind." Anybody

else know that old song?

>> You're never going to let me come back,

but I'm going have a good time while I'm

here. Okay.

Some of y'all are so religious you won't

even smile. But that's okay.

Let's make the spiritual application.

That ain't what he signed up for.

>> He made a deal with Laban. I'm going to

work for Rachel. And the next day, he

did not get what he expected. God, I've

served you. I' I've tried to be faithful

and then you get something your life you

didn't want.

But you know, Paul knew something about

medicine over a miracle.

>> In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul says, um,

>> yeah,

>> asked the Lord three times,

>> take his thorn.

>> And all three times the Lord said, no.

>> But here's what HE DID SAY. BUT MY GRACE

>> IS SUFFICIENT FOR THEE.

>> YOU KNOW WHAT PAUL GOT? HE GOT MEDICINE

INSTEAD OF A MIRACLE. BUT YOU TALK ABOUT

some good medicine.

>> Amen.

>> HERE'S THE WHOLE POINT TONIGHT. GOD

NEVER PROMISED HE WOULD HEAL EVERYBODY.

GOD NEVER PROMISED HE'D FIXED

EVERYTHING. BUT HE DID SAY THAT MY GRACE

WOULD ABOUND TOWARDS YOU. THAT HE IS THE

GOD OF ALL GRACE. IT MAY NOT BE A

SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD. IT MAY BE SOMETHING

ELSE IN YOUR LIFE. BUT I DO KNOW THIS.

GOD IS ABLE TO MAKE ALL GRACE ABOUND

TOWARDS YOU. THAT WORD TOWARDS YOU IS

THE IDEA OF A FUNNEL. THAT MEANS GOD'S

GOT A BUNCH OF GRACE. AND IF HE GAVE IT

ALL TO YOU AT ONE TIME, YOU COULDN'T

HANDLE IT. BUT HE'S GOT A LITTLE FUNNEL

HE PUTS DOWN IN YOUR SOUL. AND WHEN YOU

NEED IT, HE GIVES YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO

GET YOU THROUGH MONDAY, TO GET YOU

THROUGH TUESDAY. HEY, HIS MERCIES ARE

NEW EVERY MORNING. I'M GLAD GOD KNOWS

EXACTLY WHAT I NEED WHEN I NEED TO GET

ME THROUGH DAY BY DAY.

>> HALLELUJAH.

>> AMEN.

>> NOW, here's the reality I've had to come

to. And y'all may think I'm not a man of

great faith. God's pro God can heal my

boy.

>> That's right.

>> You're right. But he's probably not

going to.

>> You're right.

>> Probably not going to.

So, you know, I've had to learn.

>> Come on.

>> Take my medicine.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> But you know, um, Jacob and Leah, and

I'm not for Jacob had multiple wives,

and God wasn't either. Just because the

Bible records something don't means that

God approves it. Can I get amen out of

that? Yeah,

>> Jake and Malia start having babies.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, then have a little

boy named Judah.

You know, if I was going to pick the

tribe for Jesus to show up through,

>> I'd pick Joseph. All the typology.

>> Oh, yeah.

>> Man, you talking about some preaching we

could do if Jesus showed up through the

line of Joseph. But he didn't do that,

>> right?

>> He showed up through the line of Judah.

>> He showed up through a tribe of a

product of what Jacob did not want.

>> You're right.

But it was what Jacob did not want that

God used to bring his son on the scene.

>> Yes.

>> And it COULD BE THAT GOD WILL USE WHAT

YOU DID NOT WANT

>> to manifest his son

>> in your life.

>> I looked at that doctor.

Looked at that doctor that day. It was a

day after Mother's Day on that Monday

morning. I said, "Doc, shoot straight

with me. What am I looking at with my

boy?" He said, 'A high school diploma is

going to be very difficult to

impossible.

Another smack in the face.

We found a little Christian school.

They're not exactly our flavor and our

stripe, but they have a special needs

program. They love my boy.

>> Amen.

>> They're good to my boy.

>> And uh God in one I mean $7,000 bill,

700 bucks a month.

And I don't I mean I don't know anybody

can afford an extra $700 a month.

>> I mean unless you're Austin, but I'm

just

can't nobody afford extra $700 a month,

>> right?

>> And I was in a meeting one night. I had

no faith. No faith. I mean, I was

thinking about selling a kidney,

donating plasma. I mean,

>> come on.

>> Selling dope, whatever I got to do. I

mean, I didn't know what I was going to

do. I was going to do what I had to for

my boy. Okay.

>> Look, y'all should be happy that I'm

cutting up. That means I feel at home.

Okay.

>> Amen.

>> And one night in a meeting

at your church,

some of my preacher friends found out

about it and they raised all the school

bill that night and pay for it all in

one night.

>> I'm like, "Well, praise God. That's

wonderful, but he's still never going to

get a diploma."

Big whoop. Few months later that we got

an email. There's going to be an awards

banquet at the school. And I'm like,

well, it's probably going to be some

Democratic, you know, participation

trophy, you know, all that kind of

stuff. And so we're sitting out there,

they're calling out awards. And they get

to the A honor roll. That means, which I

didn't know what that means cuz I've

never been on a honor roll, but that

means you ain't either, have you? Okay,

I feel you, man. I feel you. It's okay.

Cool shoes. You cannot be on a honor to

have cool shoes. Look at mine. And I

have sharks on my socks. We're going to

make it. We're gonna be good. What are

you laughing at? Okay.

You did? Well, bless your heart. God

bless. I want to shake your hand.

I'm just messing with you. They call an

A honor roll out. They're going through

all those names. They said Sler

Montgomery

a honor roll. He got all A's that

semester.

>> We went back for the second semester

awards. All A's. Yeah,

>> we're we're five semesters in two years

of school. We just went last Friday.

>> All A's.

>> He's reading.

>> He's at the top of his class.

>> His teacher told me the whole other day,

he said eventually we might be able to

move him to a regular class with regular

students. He's progressing that much.

>> AMEN.

>> GOD'S NOT HEALED HIM, BUT GOD'S GIVEN

GRACE.

>> AMEN.

>> NOW, HERE'S WHAT WE WANT. YOU KNOW, WE

TALK AND I'M about done. We talk about

the Red Sea miracle, the children of

Israel, Red Sea. God parting the Red

Sea. We talk about how great that and

boy that was a great miracle. But you

know that only happened one time,

>> right?

>> God only opened up the Red Sea one time.

>> But every morning and EVERY EVENING FOR

40 YEARS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE

SABBATH DAY, GOD RAINED MANA DOWN FOR

ALL those Jews to eat.

>> Here's what happened. WHAT DO YOU THINK

MEANT MORE TO THOSE ISRAELITES? GOD

OPENED UP THE RED SEA one time or every

morning AND EVERY EVENING THEY WENT TO

BED THE NIGHT BEFORE WITH EMPTY

CUPBOARDS, BUT THE NEXT MORNING WHEN

THEY WOKE UP AND THEY OPENED THEIR TENT

DOOR HAD EXACTLY WHAT THEY NEEDED LAYING

AT THEIR DOORSTEP, YOU KNOW WHAT THEY

HAD TO LEARN HOW TO DO? JUST DON'T STEP

OVER THE MANA. DON'T DON'T STEP OVER

WHAT GOD'S DONE. AND I'LL TELL YOU, IF

WE'RE NOT CAREFUL, OH, WE'LL FORGET HOW

GOOD AND HOW GRACIOUS GOD'S BEEN. OH,

BUT IF WE'LL SPEND SOME TIME LOOKING

AROUND, WE'LL SEE THAT GOD HAS GIVEN US

GRACE. HOW WE MAKE IT THROUGH LAST YEAR,

I'LL TELL YOU HOW WE MADE IT. ONE DAY AT

A TIME BY THE GRACE OF GOD. HOW WE GOING

TO MAKE IT THROUGH THIS YEAR? I'LL TELL

YOU HOW. WE'LL MAKE IT BY GRACE THROUGH

FAITH EVERY DAY. GOD WILL BE FAITHFUL.

GOD WILL BE GOOD. HE'S NOT FAILED. HE'S

NOT LET YOU DOWN.

>> SO, just take your medicine.

>> Amen.

And don't step over the mana.

Now I'm winding down.

Brother Branch, one thing I worried

about when my boy ever get to play ball.

Now I heard a preacher preach the other

day playing balls. I see him, you

shouldn't play on Sundays and

Wednesdays, but every other night of the

week's good.

I love baseball. I love football. I love

all that. And I wanted my boy ever get

to play ball. Come on. So we signed him

up last year for coach pitch.

>> Second best hitter on his team.

>> Amen.

>> Pop. He's got the best hand eye

coordination.

>> You know what?

All the other parents would cheer

>> when he'd hit. I'd chat.

>> Come on, brother.

>> And they want I mean, like I said,

looking at Sil, you can't tell

anything's wrong with him. And they'd

want what in the world you doing? But

they didn't know what I do.

And they didn't know the officer I had

sat in what I had heard

>> and he'd get up there In fact,

this year they're moving to kid pitch

and they had practiced uh Tuesday night

while I was in Monroe. And so the coach

was pitching a little bit harder getting

ready for kid pitch. I said, "How'd he

do?" My wife said he hit seven out of

10.

Somebody said, "That ain't much."

Well, you know what it is? It's just

mana.

>> That's right. You're right.

And I'm going to tell you, if God's done

it before, God can do it again.

>> Don't step over the mana.

>> See, Jesus will show up in things you

didn't want.

>> You're right.

>> You may be down and feel like God has

somehow forgotten

that you are faced with circumstances

you can't get through.

Right now, it seems there's no way out

and I'm going under. But God's proven

time and time again, he'll take care of

you and he'll do it again.

He'll do it again.

Just take a look at where YOU ARE NOW

and where you have been.

as he always come through for you. He's

the same now as then. YOU MAY NOT KNOW

HOW. YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHEN, BUT HE'LL DO

IT AGAIN.

And he'll do it again. He'll do it

again.

OH, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT WHERE YOU ARE

NOW. I'm not in that DOCTOR'S OFFICE

ANYMORE. I'M STANDING ON A BALL FIELD

AND WHERE YOU were then and hasn't he

always come through

hasn't he always come through

>> HASN'T HE ALWAYS COME THROUGH FOR YOU?

HE'S the same now AS THEN. YOU MAY NOT

KNOW HOW. YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHEN. AND I

KNOW HE'LL DO IT AGAIN.

And he'll DO IT AGAIN. I'M GLAD HE'S

FAITHFUL. AND HE'S GOOD AT GOD. AND YOU

MAY NOT KNOW HOW GOD'S GOING TO DO IT.

AND YOU MAY NOT KNOW HOW HE'S GOING TO

FIX IT. BUT HE'S TOO FAITHFUL TO MAKE A

MISTAKE.

>> Just take your medicine. Amen.

>> He ain't failed you.

>> You're right.

>> He ain't let you down. You're

>> right.

>> God's never said, "Whoops."

>> God's never said, "I didn't see that

coming."

>> He just always does right.

>> He always does good. And it could be

like Jacob one night, you're out in the

field somewhere and an angel says, "Unto

us a child is born."

>> And standing somewhere in the shadows of

your adversity,

>> you'll find Jesus.

Now, it may not be a special needs

child.

>> It may be a prodigal

>> may be in need. Everybody's got

something tonight. Remember that one

issue of blood. Everybody's got an

issue.

>> But I'm glad Jesus

>> is right

>> for whatever is wrong

>> in your life. I preached 37 minutes.

Let's stand together. I appreciate your

attention

and say, "Come with us on tonight." I

don't know what your need is. I don't

know what you're facing. I don't know

what you're carrying.

But God ain't let you down, honey.

God ain't failed you.

Sometimes I got to preach this by faith

cuz it looks like he has.

But then a report card comes home.

Then there's an RBI double.

You know what he does now? He sits on

the front row and he rots out my

scripture while I preach. Sister, that

boy that said never graduate high

school. And what I'm finding out, I'm

saving all them honor roll things. When

that boy graduates, I'm going to put the

diploma on top of it and I'm walking

back in that doctor's office and I'm

going to lay him on his desk as a

testimony of the grace of God. I don't

know what you need is tonight. I know

God's faithful, God's good, and God can.

Tonight,

folks are praying. You mind the Lord

tonight. God's spoken to your heart.

Bring it to Jesus.

Bring it to him.

Lay at his feet. Say, "Lord, I can't,

but you can.

God, help your people tonight.

I want an America.

He say I'm getting medicine.

We're living in a broken world.

But I'm glad Jesus can fix it.

But if he doesn't fix it,

I'm glad he can help me get through.

I don't need enough grace to get me to

Janu to December of this year. I just

need enough grace to get me home

tonight.

If he'll do that, he'll give me enough

grace to get to church Sunday.

You mind God tonight? Your pastor comes.

It's going to be all right.

Just hang in there.

Father in Jesus, name.

Lord, thank you for the word of God.

God, I want to say thank you for your

servant.

Thank you for the testimony,

God. Thank you for those sermons that

come straight from the heart.

Lord, I'm thankful for

the truth in all of our lives, Lord,

that you're never

going to use us until you first break

us.

>> But Lord, when you break us, you'll give

us medicine.

>> Yes.

And I want to say thank you.

Thank you for the medicine, that grace.

Lord, the prophet took that role and it

was bitter,

but then it became sweet.

I'm thankful,

God, if we'll just take what you give

us, Lord. I know it might be bitter at

first, but God, I'm thankful it'll

become sweet.

Lord, would you help us, Father, be

obedient to you? I pray every heart

tonight was obedient to the word of God.

Lord, help us to be obedient to the

preaching tonight. I thank you again for

your servant, Lord. I pray for every

situation tonight. Lord, you know, every

need. I pray if there's somebody here

lost tonight, God, pray wouldn't leave.

Lord, if there somebody has a need,

Father, I pray God they wouldn't leave

till they get some answers from you.

Lord, I know that you're willing and

ready to listen. Father, if we'll speak,

thank you for what you've done for us in

Jesus name.

Amen.
