  3. Carolina. We're so glad you joined us

  4. today. If you enjoy today's message, be

  5. sure to subscribe, follow, and share

  6. with your friends. Now, let's join

  7. Pastor Charlie Branch with a word from

  8. God.

  9. >> Amen. I had that on my heart. Amen. And

  10. uh I'm just thankful that Jesus puts a

  11. song in your heart when you get saved.

  12. Amen. And I sure appreciate the meeting

  13. this week. I appreciate this man of God.

  14. And uh I'm thankful. I was praying uh

  15. for the meeting. And I'll be honest with

  16. you, and he don't know this. I hadn't

  17. told him this, but when the Lord

  18. prompted me to have him come uh what I

  19. believe he's going to preach tonight,

  20. what God put on his heart is the reason

  21. why I felt impressed to have him come.

  22. And uh what he's going to preach

  23. tonight, I'll tell you this, it's

  24. something that we all need and it's

  25. straight from his heart. Amen. And this

  26. is probably the only time you'll ever

  27. hear him go over 30 minutes. Amen. And I

  28. told him, "Preach as long as he needs."

  29. Amen. And I appreciate him so very much.

  30. And he's a hero of mine. And preacher,

  31. you come preach to us tonight. Take all

  32. the time you need. Close it out how you

  33. see fit. And I ain't got you the mic

  34. yet, have I? Amen. Okay.

  35. >> There you go. You'll be hooked up now.

  36. So, praise God. Let's get behind him.

  37. Amen. And we met to worship. Amen.

  38. Preach to us, Doc.

  39. >> Amen.

  40. Well, it's good to be in the Lord's

  41. house tonight.

  42. >> And it's good to be saved and washed in

  43. the blood of the lamb of God.

  44. >> And uh it's good to know that there is

  45. more to it than this. Paul said, "If in

  46. this life only we have hope, we are of

  47. all men most miserable." But I'm glad

  48. there's more to it than this.

  49. >> And uh I love that good good singing

  50. tonight. It's been a blessing to be

  51. here. Somebody asked if I was going to

  52. sing tonight. I probably ain't. This is

  53. my sixth straight day preaching and I my

  54. voice is waning a little bit. I quit

  55. smoking last week

  56. and uh started vaping but it's still not

  57. helping me as much and uh

  58. y'all think I'm kidding. I really am.

  59. Okay, some of y'all really but uh I

  60. think it is time to preach tonight. And

  61. uh but let's take our Bibles this

  62. evening and find the book of 1 Timothy

    1 Timothy 5 chapter mention

  63. chapter 5. And uh the pastor asked me

  64. about this message. Uh am I on, brother?

  65. There we go. Okay. Give me If you got

  66. any more monitors, that'd be great. I

  67. like I like monitors. I don't care if

  68. they can hear me as long as I can hear

  69. me. And uh save my voice. I still got

  70. two more times Sunday. Um but uh he

  71. asked about this last night and so I the

  72. Lord's not told me no. If I strike out,

  73. it's the preacher's fault. I'm off the

  74. hook. Okay. Like it's preacher's fault.

  75. But um I'm going to say this too while

  76. you're turning. I appreciate your p your

  77. pastor and his wife and his children.

  78. And um I can say this because I've been

  79. in his spot.

  80. >> He's young.

  81. >> Don't make an old man out of him. You're

  82. >> right.

  83. >> He's a young man. Let him grow with you.

  84. >> The good thing about having a young

  85. pastor is you can have the same pastor

  86. for a long time.

  87. >> I mean, who wants to call 80 year old

  88. pastor? You ain't going to have maybe 20

  89. minutes. I'm out being mean. It's just

  90. the reality of it. And so

  91. I mean it's the truth. I mean I mean how

  92. many guys getting called? I mean so um

  93. potential you can have him pastor you

  94. for 60 years. And uh some of you are

  95. like oh lord don't worry you ain't going

  96. to be here that long. And uh but but

  97. love him, pray for him and uh let him

  98. grow with you.

  99. >> And you uh you back him up and say,

  100. "Well, why does he do what he does?"

  101. Well, he was born in the 2000s. That's

  102. why. Amen. And uh but uh he's got a

  103. heart for God.

  104. >> And I'm going to tell you this too. Paul

  105. told Timothy, "Let no man despise thy

  106. youth."

  107. >> I started pastoring my church when I was

  108. 21. Uh I'd got married in September. The

  109. church called me in November.

  110. >> And so we got thrown right in the frying

  111. pan. And there were people at our church

  112. at the time that thought because of my

  113. age that I would just preach and not

  114. pastor.

  115. And uh you need to let them and I I

  116. don't know anything. All right, but let

  117. him be your pastor. Let him be your

  118. preacher. God will bless you for it.

  119. >> And uh you know, everybody wants to brag

  120. on Harold Sidler and Maize Jackson, all

  121. those guys. They were 21 one time.

  122. >> You're right.

  123. >> And they grew. So you pray for him, back

  124. him up, support him, and God will bless

  125. you for it. And uh then take care of his

  126. wife, appreciate her, and take care of

  127. her. I've been saying this lately, and

  128. uh y'all to do something for their

  129. birthdays.

  130. >> Yeah.

  131. >> And good. If you if if you don't if you

  132. already do, praise the Lord. If you

  133. don't, I hope the fleas of a thousand

  134. camels infest your armpits and you die

  135. scratching. But uh do something for

  136. their birthdays. I'll tell you this too,

  137. uh do something for their youngans's

  138. birthdays. I'm a preachers's kid. And uh

  139. I asked my church a couple years ago, I

  140. said, "Would you take part of my

  141. birthday bonus and start giving my kids

  142. something for their birthdays?" I said,

  143. "No, pastor, we're you're keeping your

  144. bonus and we're going to do something

  145. for your kids." cuz I know a lot I know

  146. they're just babies now. Uh but as they

  147. grow up, uh I preach in a lot of places

  148. where I meet preachers kids that are out

  149. because I saw how the church treated

  150. their daddy. And so you be good to him

  151. and his family and I promise you this,

  152. God will bless you for it.

  153. >> He didn't tell me to say any of that.

  154. But um I'm getting I'm middleaged now.

  155. I'm 34. So if I live to be 70, I'm

  156. pretty much middle age.

  157. >> I mean, that's kind of morbid when you

  158. think about that. Uh, but I can start. I

  159. can't wait to get old and say what I

  160. want to. Uh, and my wife said, "Lord,

  161. help that day." But, but, uh, God will

  162. bless you for it. And, uh, I know

  163. Brother Austin preached that direction

  164. Wednesday night, and I appreciate what

  165. the church done Wednesday for them. That

  166. is, you'd be surprised. I preach in

  167. churches that are, uh, and, oh man, it's

  168. disrespectful. I pastor a small a

  169. smaller church than this. I preach in

  170. churches twice this big. They don't do

  171. anything for their pastor's birthday.

  172. They don't do anything for their

  173. anniversary. they never take care of

  174. them. And so, God bless you for doing

  175. what you did Wednesday night, church. I

  176. commend you and thank you for it. And uh

  177. praise God. And then I appreciate

  178. Brother Austin. He's my buddy and we've

  179. had a good time hanging out the last

  180. couple days riding together. He forgot

  181. his Bible tonight. Can you believe that?

  182. He forgot his Bible. But luckily, the

  183. pastor had an extra NIV in his office

  184. and so we gave him that one.

  185. I'm just kidding. Okay. I'm just

  186. kidding.

  187. Would you stand tonight for the reading

  188. of his word? 1 Timothy chapter 5.

    1 Timothy 5 chapter mention

  189. Somebody say, "You cut up and laugh a

  190. lot." Look, I've been in church every

  191. night this week. If I don't laugh, have

  192. a good time in church. Last time I

  193. checked, the joy of the Lord is your

  194. strength.

  195. >> And uh I'm not going to let Baptist or

  196. Democrats ruin my shout. I'm just going

  197. to have a good time and enjoy Jesus.

  198. Amen. And I thank God for it. 1 Timothy

    1 Timothy 5 chapter mention

  199. chapter 5 tonight and verse number 23.

  200. My favorite part of the sermon. I preach

  201. verse by verse at my church through

  202. books of the Bible. There's a blessing

  203. about that. You always know the next

  204. verse you're going to get to. The bad

  205. part is you get to verses like this one

  206. where you can't skip it because if you

  207. skip the verse, everybody knows he

  208. didn't know anything about that verse.

  209. He skipped it. And uh so we're going to

  210. look at this verse tonight and give you

  211. the burden of my heart tonight. Amen.

  212. Again, preacher, thank you for

  213. everything. I I really appreciate the

  214. opportunity to be here. 1 Timothy 5:23,

    1 Timothy 5:23

  215. Paul says, "Drink no longer water, but

  216. use a little wine for thy stomach's sake

  217. and thine often infirmities."

  218. Let's go to God in just a word of prayer

  219. tonight. Lord, we love you tonight

  220. because you first loved us. Lord, I

  221. thank you, Lord, for the opportunity

  222. it's been these nights to be here at

  223. Meadows Baptist Church with Pastor

  224. Branch and his family and his church

  225. family. Lord, there's a good spirit

  226. here, and I thank you for that. And I

  227. appreciate these people, Lord, how they

  228. love their preacher. And Lord, I hope

  229. they receive just an admonition,

  230. encouragement that I just gave there.

  231. Lord, I I thank you for all they do for

  232. them. I pray God that you continue to

  233. knit the heart of this church and this

  234. pastor together that you may bless them

  235. and Lord many souls may come to Christ

  236. and that Jesus would be glorified uh

  237. through the ministry of this church. May

  238. the greatest days of Medis Baptist

  239. Church uh yet be in her future. Bless

  240. Pastor Charlie and his wife and his

  241. babies and this church. Use them for thy

  242. glory. The Lord help in this message

  243. tonight. Lord I want to be obedient uh

  244. to what you've given us and Lord help us

  245. to be a blessing to God's people. Bless

  246. protect my family while I'm away tonight

  247. in Jesus name. Amen. Thank you for

  248. standing. You may be seated. I

  249. appreciate you for standing for the

  250. reading of his word. Uh when I preach, I

  251. I try to study preaching. I try to read

  252. books on preaching just as a mechanic

  253. would always be uh studying his art. I

  254. always want to study on preaching

  255. because I want to be the best preacher I

  256. can be first of all for the Lord Jesus

  257. Christ. But then I want to be the best

  258. preacher I can be for my church and and

  259. try to be able to feed them. And one man

  260. that I was reading behind, he said this

  261. about preaching. He said, "Preaching

  262. ought to do three things. Number one,

  263. you ought to read the text. And then

  264. number two, you ought to explain the

  265. text. And then the last thing you ought

  266. to do is apply the text. Well, that's

  267. what I want to do with this verse

  268. tonight. First Timothy 5, uh, Paul is

  269. dealing with several different things.

  270. He's dealing with the qualification of a

  271. widow, rebuking an elder, meeting the

  272. monetary needs of the pastor, things of

  273. that nature. AND THEN RIGHT in the

  274. middle of it all, he gives this little

  275. word of admonition to Timothy. And he

  276. says, "Drink no longer water, but use a

  277. little wine for thy stomach's sake and

  278. thine often infirmities." Now, some of

  279. y'all are real nervous and some of y'all

  280. are real excited. There's half of y'all

  281. tonight that thinks you're going to get

  282. to go by the ABC liquor store on the way

  283. home and have scripture to do it. Then

  284. the rest of y'all are wondering, "What

  285. has our pastor brought into our church?"

  286. All right, so let me just go ahead and

  287. clear the air. I am against the

  288. consumption of alcohol.

  289. >> I preach in North Wilsburg, but I'm

  290. against moonshine, too. Okay? I I mean,

  291. I I'm against the consumption OF

  292. ALCOHOL. WINE IS A MOCKER, AND STRONG

  293. DRINK IS A RAGE, AND whosoever deceived

  294. thereby is not wise. I'm against

  295. alcohol. Somebody say, "WELL, YOU KNOW,

  296. PREACHER, JESUS TURNED WATER INTO WINE

  297. in John 2." WELL, IT WAS NOT fermented

  298. wine, and I'll prove it to you FROM THE

  299. BIBLE. HAD JESUS TURNED THAT WINE OR

  300. that water into AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE,

  301. THEN WE are all going TO HELL TONIGHT.

  302. BECAUSE THE PROPHET HABACH SAID, "WOE to

  303. him that PUT HIS STRONG DRINK TO his

  304. neighbor's lips." And so if Jesus made

  305. that water INTO AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE,

  306. THEN WE'RE ALL GOING TO HELL TONIGHT CUZ

  307. THAT MEANS JESUS would have sinned THAT

  308. WAS NOT FERMENTED WINE. JESUS NEVER GOT

  309. AROUND ANYTHING that stayed dead. Amen.

  310. >> And so, uh, I'm glad tonight that Jesus

  311. did not do that and what's going on in

  312. this passage. There's three things I

  313. want to say about it in explanation.

  314. Then I'll make my application and then

  315. we might go to Dario and get an ice

  316. cream cone. How about that? But don't

  317. tell my wife she loves Dario. Would

  318. y'all join me in prayer? They might put

  319. a Dario in Salsbury. Okay. Every town

  320. needs a Dario. I believe that every

  321. creature needs a preacher and every town

  322. needs a Dario. All right. Three things

  323. tonight in this verse. I see. First of

  324. all, I want us to note the sickness

  325. pronounced. Notice what Paul says. Drink

  326. no longer water, but use a little wine

  327. for thy stomach's sake and thine often

  328. infirmities. You know what this verse

  329. teaches us tonight? Very simply, it

  330. teaches us you CAN BE SAVED, YOU can be

  331. separated, YOU CAN BE SOLD OUT, YOU CAN

  332. BE SERVING GOD AND STILL get sick. All

  333. right.

  334. >> You listen to that crowd on TBNN. You

  335. listen to that Kenneth Cop and all that

  336. crowd. Uh they'll preach and tell you

  337. that if you live for God, if you LOVE

  338. THE LORD, UH METER BY METER, LIFE WILL

  339. GO SWEETER. YOU'LL NEVER GET SICK. Uh

  340. you'll never have a bad hair day. You'll

  341. never have any problems. It'll all JUST

  342. BE GOOD IN THE HOOD AND ALL THAT GOOD

  343. STUFF. BUT I'M GOING TO TELL YOU

  344. TONIGHT, HERE'S WHAT JOB SAID. MAN UH

  345. THAT IS BORN OF A WOMAN IS A FEW DAYS

  346. AND FULL OF TROUBLE. We are not promised

  347. AN EASY LIFE. OH, WE'RE not promised

  348. THAT LIFE WILL ALWAYS BE A BED OF ROSES.

  349. HONEY, SOMETIMES WE'RE PROMISED THORNS

  350. AND WE'RE PROMISED TRIALS AND

  351. DIFFICULTIES AND STORMS THAT WE WALK

  352. THROUGH IN THIS LIFE. Here's Timothy.

  353. HE'S SOLD OUT. HE'S SAVED. HE'S LIVING

  354. FOR GOD. HE'S TRYING TO SERVE THE LORD.

  355. HE'S TRYING TO BE FAITHFUL WHERE GOD'S

  356. PUT HIM. AND YET, HE STILL GOT SICK.

  357. RIGHT.

  358. >> I dare say in the audience of this size

  359. tonight, there are people representing

  360. here that's all have been touched with

  361. cancer. Somebody in your family, maybe

  362. you personally, I know he's praying for

  363. the dear sister last night and praise

  364. God for the good report. But it seems

  365. like more and more we hear about

  366. sickness and we hear about infirmities

  367. and we hear about to turmoil AND AND WE

  368. SAY, "WAIT A MINUTE THOUGH. I'M TRYING

  369. TO SERVE GOD AND I'M TRYING TO BE

  370. FAITHFUL and I'm going to Sunday school

  371. AND SUNDAY MORNING AND SUNDAY NIGHT AND

  372. I'M BEING FAITHFUL, BUT YET SICKNESS and

  373. calamity still touch my life." You know

  374. what I'm talking about tonight?

  375. >> It's still going to happen.

  376. >> Now, what is Timothy's sickness here?

  377. Well, it was personal. He said, "Thy."

  378. >> It was private. He said, "Thy stomach's

  379. sake." I'm not trying to be rude

  380. tonight, but nobody wants to talk about

  381. stomach issues. But Timothy's probably

  382. dealing with dysentery is what most

  383. Bible commentators believe. This

  384. dysentery probably resulted because they

  385. did not have the water filtration

  386. systems that we have today. And so is

  387. common today. Most people get dysentery

  388. from the drinking water. And I believe

  389. that's what causes Timothy's trouble. It

  390. was personal. It was private. But it was

  391. perpetual. He said, "Thine often

  392. infirmities." It wasn't just something

  393. he dealt with one day, pastor. It was

  394. something that was constantly in his

  395. life. Do you KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE to wake

  396. up every morning and your problem be

  397. staring you in the face? I'm not talking

  398. about your spouse, okay? But I'm talking

  399. ABOUT PROBLEM, THAT TRIAL, THAT

  400. DIFFICULTY be staring you in THE FACE.

  401. YOU HOPE THAT WITH THE EVENING'S NIGHT,

  402. with the sun going down, you hope you

  403. hope in THE MORNING'S LIGHT THAT IT'LL

  404. JUST GO AWAY. BUT THAT PROBLEM'S STILL

  405. THERE.

  406. >> IT just won't go away. Yeah,

  407. >> there's sickness pronounced in this

  408. verse. The second thing I I see in this

  409. verse is the sadness of Paul.

  410. >> Now, let me teach Sunday school for a

  411. minute on Friday night. We all know

  412. tonight that Paul was an apostle born

  413. out of due season.

  414. >> Paul was the I had a fellow on Facebook

  415. tell me he was a prophet.

  416. >> And so I put Luke 16:16 for the prophets

    Luke 16:16

  417. were until John. And he said, "Well, you

  418. tell the Lord that." I said, "I don't

  419. have to tell the Lord you're not a

  420. prophet. He already knows that." Okay.

  421. Amen. I have the gift of exhortation.

  422. Can you tell? Amen. And sarcasm is my

  423. spirit. Sarcasm is my love language.

  424. Just be honest with you. Uh

  425. but uh Paul is the last of the apostles.

  426. He has apostolic power. I could take you

  427. to Acts 14 tonight and show you where

  428. Paul healed a man that was a lame man. I

  429. can take you to Acts 20 where Paul

  430. didn't read my book on why you should be

  431. a 30-minute preacher. He preached for

  432. six hours. Yep.

  433. >> Right.

  434. >> Sounds like some camp meetings I've been

  435. in.

  436. You know, you get in a meeting

  437. >> and it's be like 9:30 at night. They've

  438. had 184 preachers already. And the

  439. moderator struggling. Should we have

  440. another preacher? And we're like, you

  441. know, please no. And there's always one

  442. MORE ON THE BACK. PREACH. I'm like, shut

  443. up. We want to go to Waffle House.

  444. I mean, Paul's preaching that night. I

  445. I'm a preacher's kid, okay? I can say

  446. stuff like that. I mean, you know, it's

  447. just it's just, you know, hang an amen

  448. on that thing. Let's go to THE HOUSE. WE

  449. GOT IT. I mean, we got it. Okay, let's

  450. go home. But my wife said the reason

  451. guys preach long, they like to hear

  452. themselves talk. Okay,

  453. PAUL'S PREACHING FOR 6 HOURS. UDICUS

  454. FELL OUT OF THE WINDOW. Long preaching

  455. can be deadly.

  456. Udicus died.

  457. It's very dangerous. Amen. Some of y'all

  458. ain't laughed all week long.

  459. YOU KNOW WHAT PAUL DID, THOUGH? HE He

  460. went down there and raised that boy from

  461. the dead.

  462. >> That's apostolic power.

  463. >> I mean, Paul Paul is OVER THERE IN ACTS

  464. 28. HE JUST GOT SHIPWRECKED. AND WHAT'S

  465. HE OVER THERE DOING? HE'S HEALING PEOPLE

  466. THAT MIGHT LEAD THEM. HE'S HELPING

  467. PEOPLE, BEING A BLESSING to them.

  468. >> I mean, that's amazing.

  469. >> Yeah.

  470. >> Paul has spent his ministry healing

  471. people that he don't even know.

  472. >> You're right.

  473. >> Now, this just ain't anybody who's sick

  474. in 1 Timothy 5:23. It's his preacher

    1 Timothy 5:23

  475. boy.

  476. >> He saw Timothy get saved. He saw Timothy

  477. get sold out to God, get called to

  478. preach. I MEAN, HE IS TIMOTHY'S NOT ONLY

  479. JUST FATHER IN THE FAITH, BUT PROBABLY

  480. THE ONLY FATHER FIGURE he has in his

  481. life because we don't know where

  482. Timothy's dead. He's at

  483. >> right.

  484. >> If there's anybody that Paul would want

  485. to heal,

  486. >> it'd be Timothy.

  487. >> Y

  488. >> Why don't Paul heal Timothy? I'm going

  489. to give you two options, and you can

  490. pick either one that works for the

  491. sermon. It could be that the healings

  492. were not like, you know, uh at any time,

  493. what a superpower. you know, they just

  494. heal somebody when they wanted to. And I

  495. believe that's true. I don't think they

  496. just heal. I think the healing had to be

  497. in the will of God. And I want to remind

  498. you that every healing in the Bible was

  499. always for the purpose of evangelism.

  500. >> It was always THE SCRIPTURES HAD NOT

  501. been completed yet. And so those

  502. miracles and sign gifts were to prove to

  503. people their vindication in the gospel

  504. ministry.

  505. >> That's the reason we don't have to have

  506. signs today. We have scriptures.

  507. >> But here's what I believe. I I do

  508. believe the first part, but I believe

  509. the main thing here, I don't think Paul

  510. could heal Timothy in this passage. You

  511. remember in 1 Corinthians 12:13 and 14,

    1 Corinthians 12:13

  512. Paul talks about spiritual gifts and the

  513. signs and that one which is perfect is

  514. come which was done in part to be done

  515. away with. I think the sign gifts are

  516. fading off the scene. And I think Paul

  517. is losing his ability to heal in this

  518. passage. I can take you to two other

  519. places in the scripture where Paul

  520. didn't heal somebody. Over there in

  521. Philippians chapter number three,

  522. Apapraditis brings him a love offering.

  523. And Paul writes back to the church of

  524. Philippi and said, "God had mercy on

  525. Apapraditis and on me because she had

  526. heard he had been sick, even dying to

  527. death."

  528. >> Now, Apaproditis brought Paul a LOVE

  529. OFFERING. IF THERE'S ANYBODY I WANT TO

  530. HEAL, SIR,

  531. >> say amen, evangelist. IT'S THE GUY

  532. WRITING MY CHECK.

  533. >> Then at first, some of y'all like, wait,

  534. you know, I can't believe you're talking

  535. about money. Well, you want your boss,

  536. man, to get sick and can't write your

  537. check. Somebody help me. Amen. Over in 2

  538. Timothy 4, he left Trothamus sick at

  539. Mileum.

  540. >> Left him sick.

  541. >> I don't think Paul could heal Timothy.

  542. Them sign gifts are fading off. I'm

  543. going to tell you, as much as your

  544. preacher loves you, as much as he cares

  545. about you, there's a line where he can't

  546. help you.

  547. >> You're right.

  548. >> You know why? At the end of the day,

  549. he's a man.

  550. >> He's the man of God, but that man is the

  551. first part of he's just a man. He's

  552. God's man, but he has limitations.

  553. >> You're right.

  554. >> That's where Paul's at.

  555. >> There's a sickness pronounced. There's a

  556. sadness of Paul, but then there is a

  557. solution prescribed.

  558. This is where y'all been wanting me to

  559. get to. Preacher, what is this about

  560. drinking wine? Well, first of all, the

  561. Bible does not say Paul does not tell

  562. Timothy to drink wine. He said, "Use

  563. little wine for thy stomach's sake." If

  564. Paul was telling Timothy to drink wine,

  565. then Timothy is now disqualified from

  566. ministry. Because in 1 Timothy 3, Paul

  567. says that the man of God is not to be

  568. given the wine. You're

  569. >> right.

  570. >> HE LITERALLY SAYS IN THE PREVIOUS VERSE,

  571. "KEEP THYSELF PURE."

  572. >> So what's Paul telling Timothy to do?

  573. Here's what I believe. I You remember we

  574. talked about that Timothy's problem was

  575. a mainly a result of the drinking water.

  576. Here's what I believe Paul's telling

  577. Timothy to do. Take that wine, mix it

  578. with your drinking water. It'll purify

  579. it so you can drink it.

  580. >> Good.

  581. >> Rock of Ages had a missionary years ago,

  582. Brother Michael Adams. They was in the

  583. Philippines. They said, "Don't drink the

  584. water." Well, brother Michael's a

  585. cajinjun from down Louisiana down in the

  586. bayou, you know, Judam Elizabeth. That's

  587. where he's from. You know,

  588. he got thirsty and got a glass of water

  589. and got pure ale

  590. and drinking. He's still living to

  591. preach today. Praise the Lord. I mean, I

  592. guess you ate half that stuff ate down

  593. there in Louisiana. A little puree ain't

  594. gonna hurt you. Okay. I believe that's

  595. what he's doing. He's trying to purify

  596. that water. You know what Paul is doing?

  597. He's prescribing medication to Timothy.

  598. You're

  599. >> right.

  600. >> Now, you do not have the blessing of

  601. taking Paul's advice today.

  602. >> Amen.

  603. >> Now, I'm going to turn and look at the

  604. Baptistry because I know I'm in North

  605. Carolina, but if you used to go to my

  606. grandma's house and look under her sink,

  607. you'd find something called rock and

  608. rye.

  609. >> You right.

  610. >> Somebody said, "What's rock and ry?"

  611. Rock candy and a whole lot of Jack

  612. Daniels and a little bit of honey. My

  613. uncle walked around with a perpetual

  614. coffee old drunk. My grandma, I need

  615. some rock and ride. You know,

  616. we ain't going to ask how many's got

  617. some in their refrigerator tonight. All

  618. right.

  619. I can name some Baptist preachers that I

  620. know has some. Not that I've heard. I

  621. know they got it. Okay.

  622. And they want to use that verse. You

  623. know where Paul say use a little wine.

  624. Well, we have Robbitasin. Okay. All

  625. right.

  626. >> So, here's my point tonight.

  627. Timothy knows that Paul has the ability

  628. to heal, right?

  629. >> He's seen it. And no doubt Timothy has

  630. shared with Paul his issues just like we

  631. would share our prayer requests one

  632. another. Hey Paul, I'm having some I'm

  633. having some often infirmities. You know

  634. what he we know what Timothy's probably

  635. expecting a handkerchief because you

  636. know Paul people are getting hold of

  637. Paul's handkerchiefs at Acts and getting

  638. healed and he gets that letter

  639. handkerchief.

  640. >> I'm not being critical of how any church

  641. does this. Paul don't even call for the

  642. elders of the church to come and he

  643. don't even do that. You know what Paul

  644. does? Paul don't even pray for him. Paul

  645. said, "Timothy, take a little medicine

  646. >> for your stomach's sake."

  647. >> Timothy is expecting a miracle.

  648. But instead, he got medicine.

  649. >> Right.

  650. >> NOW, I BELIEVE TONIGHT, GOD IS ABLE

  651. THROUGH EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL

  652. WE ASK. You believe that tonight? Say,

  653. "Amen."

  654. >> But if God healed everybody, there

  655. wouldn't be funeral homes.

  656. >> YOU'RE RIGHT.

  657. >> IF GOD FIXED EVERYTHING, there wouldn't

  658. be hospitals. That's right.

  659. >> THE SAD REALITY WE'VE GOT TO embrace is

  660. God don't heal everybody.

  661. >> You're right.

  662. >> We've got so charismatic in some of our

  663. Baptist churches.

  664. >> And I'm for having confidence and faith

  665. in the Lord. Don't misunderstand me.

  666. >> But what are you going to do if God

  667. don't

  668. >> Is your faith in THE LORD DEPENDENT ON

  669. HIM FULFILLING YOUR WISH LIST?

  670. >> OR ARE you going to still serve him and

  671. love him if he says no, I'm not going to

  672. do what what you want me to do?

  673. >> Come on. You see, medicine was not what

  674. Timothy expected. He's expecting a

  675. healing. HE'S EXPECTING A MIRACLE. BUT

  676. INSTEAD, HE'S GETTING MEDICINE. I'm

  677. preaching tonight on when you get

  678. medicine instead of a miracle.

  679. >> We all want miracles. We all want God

  680. just to presto, fix all of our problems.

  681. >> He don't do that all the time.

  682. >> You're right.

  683. >> You ever heard of Mary and Martha? Lord

  684. Lazarus, not just any Lazarus, whom thou

  685. lovest is sick.

  686. >> Lazar, I mean, it's just anybody Jesus.

  687. This is the Lazarus that you love. It's

  688. not the Lazarus you hate. It's the

  689. Lazarus you love. He's sick. You know

  690. what Jesus does? He was a terrible

  691. pastor. Terrible pastor. Didn't even

  692. show up at the hospital.

  693. Didn't even show up for the funeral.

  694. He'd been dead and buried four days. By

  695. now, he stinkketh.

  696. I got a friend of mine said he named his

  697. Sunday school program Lazarus because it

  698. stinkketh. Okay. But I mean I mean he

  699. stinkketh. It's bad. And then Jesus

  700. said, "All right, now let's go."

  701. >> Yeah.

  702. >> You know Mary and Martha, they they got

  703. upset at the Lord

  704. >> and they both expressed it different

  705. ways.

  706. >> Martha's a worker. She's a go-getter.

  707. When Jesus got in the edge of Bethany,

  708. she got up in his face. Lord, if you'd

  709. have been here, my brother hadn't died.

  710. She was exactly right theologically.

  711. >> Mary says the same thing, but she's

  712. sitting in the house. Oh, brother Eddie

  713. Davis, one of my mentors. He said, '

  714. Ain't it amazing Jesus didn't step one

  715. foot in the Bethany until Mary got out

  716. of the house.

  717. >> Brother Eddie said, "Lazarus would have

  718. never got out of the tomb had Mary not

  719. got out of the house."

  720. >> Some of you tonight, the Lord did not

  721. give you the miracle and you wouldn't

  722. say it out loud and you wouldn't want to

  723. tell nobody, but you're a little upset

  724. at the Lord.

  725. >> Right.

  726. >> Lord, you you could have fixed that.

  727. >> You could have healed my loved one.

  728. Yeah,

  729. >> you could have kept that my that divorce

  730. from happening.

  731. >> You're right.

  732. >> You could have kept that tragedy from

  733. happen, but you didn't. And you don't

  734. want to tell nobody. You wouldn't say it

  735. out loud, but you're a little upset at

  736. the Lord for not fixing it.

  737. >> That's good, brother.

  738. >> Right.

  739. >> I'm going to ask you a trick question.

  740. I'm telling you right now. I'm trying to

  741. trick you. Do not answer this question.

  742. You hear me? Do not answer it. You ever

  743. been been disappointed IN JESUS? NOPE.

  744. NOT ME, PREACHER. OH, REALLY? I say Mary

  745. and Martha WAS JOHN THE BAPTIST IS THE

  746. ONLY MAN that held the son of God, heard

  747. the voice of God, and saw the spirit of

  748. God at the same time. And John's sitting

  749. in a prison saying, "I'm not even sure

  750. if that's him."

  751. >> Yep.

  752. >> You're right.

  753. >> So, if John the Baptist is struggling

  754. with doubts, you better believe you're

  755. going to struggle with them, honey.

  756. >> Now, I've never been disappointed in

  757. him, my brother, but I've had it all

  758. planned out. Lord, this is what we need

  759. to do.

  760. >> You're right. I've even got a

  761. PowerPoint.

  762. >> You're right.

  763. >> Boom, boom, boom. Three bullet points.

  764. Let's do it, Lord. You That's all right.

  765. >> And then he don't do it like I want him

  766. to do it.

  767. >> And in reality, I get a little upset at

  768. him.

  769. >> We don't want to admit that because we

  770. goodbye on at Baptist. Well, I'll tell

  771. you right now, everything's good. Well,

  772. not everything. It's not always good.

  773. You're

  774. >> right.

  775. >> Preacher.

  776. >> And I tell you, if anything your

  777. preachers taught me is to be honest,

  778. >> sir.

  779. I'm gonna tell you, preachers are not

  780. superman.

  781. >> You're right.

  782. >> There ain't no buy on it at Baptist.

  783. Ain't no super Christians. We're all

  784. sometimes just barely getting by and

  785. trying to hang on to the next week.

  786. >> I told you about my kids last night. I

  787. got Dax and he's my oldest. He's got

  788. ball practice tonight. And uh then uh I

  789. got Judah. Uh hopefully we'll she's four

  790. years old and hopefully she won't go to

  791. the state penitentiary. Um

  792. we we supper early. She had a knife

  793. doing like this. I'm like, uh, I already

  794. see us in the courtroom. When did her

  795. murder attack start? Well, we was at

  796. Texas Roadhouse one night. She had a

  797. knife like this. Okay. Cute as a button.

  798. That's why she'll make a great serial

  799. killer. Nobody would ever expect it.

  800. But then my middle boy, his name's

  801. Sidler. And Siler, he'll be 10 next

  802. month. And um, this is how that's how

  803. the Lord gave me this sermon. The Lord

  804. had to preach it to me. And he still

  805. preaches it to me. Siler when he was

  806. born, when my wife was expecting Sidler,

  807. you mas just something wasn't right.

  808. Even with the pregnancy, things that

  809. nature, they even when he was born, he's

  810. just unusual. And as he got older, we

  811. noticed and I've never I want to meet

  812. this specimen of a kid. You know, you go

  813. you you mas go to the pediatrician,

  814. well, you know, he's in the 88th

  815. percentile. Where's this kid at, you

  816. know, that reads at age, you know, six

  817. months, you know, driving a car by age

  818. two. I mean, he's just got it all

  819. together. I want to meet this kid, you

  820. know, I don't know where he's at. I

  821. mean, there's this perfect kid

  822. somewhere. I mean, he talks knows Latin

  823. by 83, all this kind of stuff. And they

  824. told us he's not talking soon enough. He

  825. ain't got much to say. My wife said he's

  826. a Montgomery. Montgomery's have

  827. something to say.

  828. Shut up.

  829. You're riding with me tonight and you're

  830. using my Bible. Don't push it.

  831. I'm glad we get to serve God together.

  832. said, "Uh, he's not talking like he

  833. should, so speech therapy." We go to

  834. speech therapy and

  835. they said, "Well, he has speech delay

  836. and we think he has this and that and

  837. all this stuff." And and um we'd be in a

  838. restaurant somewhere and he'd put his

  839. hands over his ears and he'd hum back

  840. and forth. Couldn't handle crowds.

  841. Couldn't sit in church. My wife didn't

  842. sit in church for two years because he

  843. couldn't handle noise. She'd have to sit

  844. in my office with him.

  845. And then we're finally getting some

  846. appointments to get a diagnosis six

  847. years ago in March

  848. and the pandemic happened

  849. and all the appointments get cancelled

  850. and it was last May of uh 20 I'm sorry.

  851. Yeah. May of 2020 uh 24. So two years

  852. ago this coming up May that I sat in a

  853. doctor's office and the doctor said,

  854. "Sir, your son is stage two autistic."

  855. There's three levels of autism. We

  856. probably all know somebody that's stage

  857. one. They're high functioning people.

  858. Elon Musk is autistic. A lot of people

  859. don't know that. I'm like, I hope my son

  860. be like a super trillionaire like him

  861. except love Jesus, you know. Like that'd

  862. be awesome. Amen. Just tithe one time.

  863. Just one time, please.

  864. Level three is a child or individual

  865. who's completely non-verbal. Never talk

  866. or anything like that. Siters right in

  867. the middle.

  868. That's not what I wanted.

  869. >> Come on, preacher. Don't look at me like

  870. that.

  871. >> Come on.

  872. >> When you have a when you have a baby

  873. born, you don't expect that they may

  874. never leave your home.

  875. >> You're right.

  876. >> And I used to be scared of special needs

  877. people.

  878. You know, oh, don't look at me like

  879. that. It's just take ain't nobody here

  880. tonight. We see somebody out in public,

  881. they having some issues, what do we do?

  882. We walk around.

  883. >> But when it comes to your house,

  884. >> the problem with Sitler is you look at

  885. him, you can't tell it.

  886. And so when he's acting up in public,

  887. you've got all, and I'm not being this

  888. direct for the old people, okay? I love

  889. old people. My mom, my mom and dad are

  890. old people. I love them, okay? But that

  891. generation, y'all do something with that

  892. kid and they don't know we're trying to.

  893. >> You're right.

  894. >> Be careful about passing judgment.

  895. >> Every kid's not a brat.

  896. >> You're right.

  897. >> There's some kids that generally can't

  898. handle it.

  899. >> You're right.

  900. >> And your whole belt and switch thing, it

  901. don't help.

  902. >> You're right.

  903. just pray for him.

  904. >> Amen.

  905. >> Amen. So I say, "I don't like that."

  906. That's okay. I'm going home tonight.

  907. It's okay.

  908. >> And but we seeing that and trying to

  909. figure that out. And I I u it's not what

  910. I wanted.

  911. >> Can't communicate.

  912. >> He's talking talking a little bit. I'm

  913. going to tell you what are you going to

  914. do when that unexpected thing comes to

  915. your house.

  916. >> Come on, brother.

  917. >> Medicine's not what he expected.

  918. Medicine's not what he enjoyed. I don't

  919. like taking medicine. My grandma does,

  920. but I don't like taking medicine.

  921. You know, because you know why medicine

  922. tastes bad. And there's some things in

  923. life

  924. leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

  925. >> But that ain't what I wanted.

  926. >> You got dreams, you got ambitions, you

  927. got plans.

  928. >> Yeah. And then

  929. just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

  930. >> Medicine is something you got to endure.

  931. >> You're right.

  932. >> Remember your mama growing up, you got a

  933. cough, just swallow it,

  934. >> right?

  935. >> Stick that syrup, get that. Just swallow

  936. it. And sometimes in life, you just got

  937. to swallow some things.

  938. >> You're right.

  939. >> You remember uh you remember Jacob in

  940. our Bible? If any two people in the

  941. world deserve deserved each other, it

  942. was Jacob and Laban. They were both con

  943. artists.

  944. >> Jacob sees Rachel and she was beautiful.

  945. I mean, he fell head over heels in love

  946. with her. He goes to Laban and said, "I

  947. want to marry her. What do we got to

  948. do?" He said, "Serve me for seven

  949. years." And like Jacob's like, "Okay,

  950. that's a great deal. I'll work for seven

  951. years." Some of your dad's like, "Man,

  952. that'd be a great deal. Get my

  953. son-in-law work for him for seven years.

  954. I'll make some money off this kid." You

  955. know, layman's a con artist. Now, Rachel

  956. had a sister

  957. who had a great personality.

  958. >> TO PUT IT LIKE ANDY AND Barney was

  959. trying to tell Gomer about the cousin,

  960. she's nice.

  961. I mean, she's real nice. But is she

  962. pretty nice? Oh, she's nice.

  963. Don't tell me you ain't seen that Andy

  964. Griffin episode. You know exactly what

  965. I'm talking about.

  966. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT LEAH WAS tenderide

  967. in the Hebrew. That means she make a

  968. freight train take a dirt road.

  969. She was u g l y. Didn't have no alibi. M

  970. a m a. How you think she got that way?

  971. Her mama. I mean, she's ugly.

  972. I'm hip. I know the lingo. Okay. I might

  973. be old, but I'm not that old. I got it.

  974. She's ugly. AND I DON'T KNOW HOW LABAN

  975. PULLED THIS OFF, BUT THEY'RE HAVING THE

  976. WEDDING. AND HE WAKES UP THE NEXT

  977. MORNING. The Bible said, "Behold, it was

  978. Leah."

  979. That would be horrible.

  980. One, to marry the wrong woman, BUT THEN

  981. TO MARRY AN ugly woman. Of course, the

  982. old song says, "Always marry an ugly

  983. woman. That's the only kind. Because if

  984. she leaves you, you won't mind." Anybody

  985. else know that old song?

  986. >> You're never going to let me come back,

  987. but I'm going have a good time while I'm

  988. here. Okay.

  989. Some of y'all are so religious you won't

  990. even smile. But that's okay.

  991. Let's make the spiritual application.

  992. That ain't what he signed up for.

  993. >> He made a deal with Laban. I'm going to

  994. work for Rachel. And the next day, he

  995. did not get what he expected. God, I've

  996. served you. I' I've tried to be faithful

  997. and then you get something your life you

  998. didn't want.

  999. But you know, Paul knew something about

  1000. medicine over a miracle.

  1001. >> In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul says, um,

  1002. >> yeah,

1003. >> asked the Lord three times,

  1004. >> take his thorn.

1005. >> And all three times the Lord said, no.

1006. >> But here's what HE DID SAY. BUT MY GRACE

1007. >> IS SUFFICIENT FOR THEE.

1008. >> YOU KNOW WHAT PAUL GOT? HE GOT MEDICINE

1009. INSTEAD OF A MIRACLE. BUT YOU TALK ABOUT

  1010. some good medicine.

  1011. >> Amen.

1012. >> HERE'S THE WHOLE POINT TONIGHT. GOD

1013. NEVER PROMISED HE WOULD HEAL EVERYBODY.

1014. GOD NEVER PROMISED HE'D FIXED

1015. EVERYTHING. BUT HE DID SAY THAT MY GRACE

1016. WOULD ABOUND TOWARDS YOU. THAT HE IS THE

1017. GOD OF ALL GRACE. IT MAY NOT BE A

1018. SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD. IT MAY BE SOMETHING

1019. ELSE IN YOUR LIFE. BUT I DO KNOW THIS.

1020. GOD IS ABLE TO MAKE ALL GRACE ABOUND

1021. TOWARDS YOU. THAT WORD TOWARDS YOU IS

1022. THE IDEA OF A FUNNEL. THAT MEANS GOD'S

1023. GOT A BUNCH OF GRACE. AND IF HE GAVE IT

1024. ALL TO YOU AT ONE TIME, YOU COULDN'T

1025. HANDLE IT. BUT HE'S GOT A LITTLE FUNNEL

1026. HE PUTS DOWN IN YOUR SOUL. AND WHEN YOU

1027. NEED IT, HE GIVES YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO

1028. GET YOU THROUGH MONDAY, TO GET YOU

1029. THROUGH TUESDAY. HEY, HIS MERCIES ARE

1030. NEW EVERY MORNING. I'M GLAD GOD KNOWS

1031. EXACTLY WHAT I NEED WHEN I NEED TO GET

1032. ME THROUGH DAY BY DAY.

  1033. >> HALLELUJAH.

  1034. >> AMEN.

1035. >> NOW, here's the reality I've had to come

1036. to. And y'all may think I'm not a man of

1037. great faith. God's pro God can heal my

  1038. boy.

  1039. >> That's right.

  1040. >> You're right. But he's probably not

  1041. going to.

  1042. >> You're right.

1043. >> Probably not going to.

1044. So, you know, I've had to learn.

  1045. >> Come on.

  1046. >> Take my medicine.

  1047. >> You're right.

  1048. >> Amen.

1049. >> But you know, um, Jacob and Leah, and

1050. I'm not for Jacob had multiple wives,

1051. and God wasn't either. Just because the

1052. Bible records something don't means that

1053. God approves it. Can I get amen out of

  1054. that? Yeah,

1055. >> Jake and Malia start having babies.

1056. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, then have a little

  1057. boy named Judah.

1058. You know, if I was going to pick the

1059. tribe for Jesus to show up through,

1060. >> I'd pick Joseph. All the typology.

  1061. >> Oh, yeah.

1062. >> Man, you talking about some preaching we

1063. could do if Jesus showed up through the

1064. line of Joseph. But he didn't do that,

  1065. >> right?

1066. >> He showed up through the line of Judah.

1067. >> He showed up through a tribe of a

1068. product of what Jacob did not want.

  1069. >> You're right.

1070. But it was what Jacob did not want that

1071. God used to bring his son on the scene.

  1072. >> Yes.

1073. >> And it COULD BE THAT GOD WILL USE WHAT

  1074. YOU DID NOT WANT

1075. >> to manifest his son

  1076. >> in your life.

  1077. >> I looked at that doctor.

1078. Looked at that doctor that day. It was a

1079. day after Mother's Day on that Monday

1080. morning. I said, "Doc, shoot straight

1081. with me. What am I looking at with my

1082. boy?" He said, 'A high school diploma is

1083. going to be very difficult to

  1084. impossible.

1085. Another smack in the face.

1086. We found a little Christian school.

1087. They're not exactly our flavor and our

1088. stripe, but they have a special needs

1089. program. They love my boy.

  1090. >> Amen.

  1091. >> They're good to my boy.

1092. >> And uh God in one I mean $7,000 bill,

  1093. 700 bucks a month.

  1094. And I don't I mean I don't know anybody

1095. can afford an extra $700 a month.

  1096. >> I mean unless you're Austin, but I'm

  1097. just

  1098. can't nobody afford extra $700 a month,

  1099. >> right?

  1100. >> And I was in a meeting one night. I had

1101. no faith. No faith. I mean, I was

1102. thinking about selling a kidney,

  1103. donating plasma. I mean,

  1104. >> come on.

1105. >> Selling dope, whatever I got to do. I

1106. mean, I didn't know what I was going to

1107. do. I was going to do what I had to for

  1108. my boy. Okay.

  1109. >> Look, y'all should be happy that I'm

1110. cutting up. That means I feel at home.

  1111. Okay.

  1112. >> Amen.

1113. >> And one night in a meeting

  1114. at your church,

1115. some of my preacher friends found out

1116. about it and they raised all the school

1117. bill that night and pay for it all in

  1118. one night.

  1119. >> I'm like, "Well, praise God. That's

1120. wonderful, but he's still never going to

  1121. get a diploma."

1122. Big whoop. Few months later that we got

1123. an email. There's going to be an awards

1124. banquet at the school. And I'm like,

1125. well, it's probably going to be some

  1126. Democratic, you know, participation

1127. trophy, you know, all that kind of

1128. stuff. And so we're sitting out there,

1129. they're calling out awards. And they get

1130. to the A honor roll. That means, which I

1131. didn't know what that means cuz I've

1132. never been on a honor roll, but that

1133. means you ain't either, have you? Okay,

1134. I feel you, man. I feel you. It's okay.

1135. Cool shoes. You cannot be on a honor to

1136. have cool shoes. Look at mine. And I

1137. have sharks on my socks. We're going to

1138. make it. We're gonna be good. What are

  1139. you laughing at? Okay.

1140. You did? Well, bless your heart. God

1141. bless. I want to shake your hand.

1142. I'm just messing with you. They call an

1143. A honor roll out. They're going through

1144. all those names. They said Sler

  1145. Montgomery

1146. a honor roll. He got all A's that

  1147. semester.

1148. >> We went back for the second semester

  1149. awards. All A's. Yeah,

  1150. >> we're we're five semesters in two years

1151. of school. We just went last Friday.

  1152. >> All A's.

  1153. >> He's reading.

1154. >> He's at the top of his class.

1155. >> His teacher told me the whole other day,

1156. he said eventually we might be able to

1157. move him to a regular class with regular

1158. students. He's progressing that much.

  1159. >> AMEN.

  1160. >> GOD'S NOT HEALED HIM, BUT GOD'S GIVEN

  1161. GRACE.

  1162. >> AMEN.

1163. >> NOW, HERE'S WHAT WE WANT. YOU KNOW, WE

1164. TALK AND I'M about done. We talk about

1165. the Red Sea miracle, the children of

1166. Israel, Red Sea. God parting the Red

1167. Sea. We talk about how great that and

1168. boy that was a great miracle. But you

1169. know that only happened one time,

  1170. >> right?

1171. >> God only opened up the Red Sea one time.

1172. >> But every morning and EVERY EVENING FOR

1173. 40 YEARS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE

1174. SABBATH DAY, GOD RAINED MANA DOWN FOR

1175. ALL those Jews to eat.

1176. >> Here's what happened. WHAT DO YOU THINK

1177. MEANT MORE TO THOSE ISRAELITES? GOD

1178. OPENED UP THE RED SEA one time or every

1179. morning AND EVERY EVENING THEY WENT TO

1180. BED THE NIGHT BEFORE WITH EMPTY

1181. CUPBOARDS, BUT THE NEXT MORNING WHEN

1182. THEY WOKE UP AND THEY OPENED THEIR TENT

1183. DOOR HAD EXACTLY WHAT THEY NEEDED LAYING

1184. AT THEIR DOORSTEP, YOU KNOW WHAT THEY

1185. HAD TO LEARN HOW TO DO? JUST DON'T STEP

1186. OVER THE MANA. DON'T DON'T STEP OVER

1187. WHAT GOD'S DONE. AND I'LL TELL YOU, IF

1188. WE'RE NOT CAREFUL, OH, WE'LL FORGET HOW

1189. GOOD AND HOW GRACIOUS GOD'S BEEN. OH,

1190. BUT IF WE'LL SPEND SOME TIME LOOKING

1191. AROUND, WE'LL SEE THAT GOD HAS GIVEN US

1192. GRACE. HOW WE MAKE IT THROUGH LAST YEAR,

1193. I'LL TELL YOU HOW WE MADE IT. ONE DAY AT

1194. A TIME BY THE GRACE OF GOD. HOW WE GOING

1195. TO MAKE IT THROUGH THIS YEAR? I'LL TELL

1196. YOU HOW. WE'LL MAKE IT BY GRACE THROUGH

1197. FAITH EVERY DAY. GOD WILL BE FAITHFUL.

1198. GOD WILL BE GOOD. HE'S NOT FAILED. HE'S

  1199. NOT LET YOU DOWN.

1200. >> SO, just take your medicine.

  1201. >> Amen.

1202. And don't step over the mana.

  1203. Now I'm winding down.

1204. Brother Branch, one thing I worried

1205. about when my boy ever get to play ball.

1206. Now I heard a preacher preach the other

1207. day playing balls. I see him, you

1208. shouldn't play on Sundays and

1209. Wednesdays, but every other night of the

  1210. week's good.

  1211. I love baseball. I love football. I love

1212. all that. And I wanted my boy ever get

1213. to play ball. Come on. So we signed him

1214. up last year for coach pitch.

1215. >> Second best hitter on his team.

  1216. >> Amen.

1217. >> Pop. He's got the best hand eye

  1218. coordination.

  1219. >> You know what?

1220. All the other parents would cheer

  1221. >> when he'd hit. I'd chat.

  1222. >> Come on, brother.

1223. >> And they want I mean, like I said,

1224. looking at Sil, you can't tell

  1225. anything's wrong with him. And they'd

1226. want what in the world you doing? But

  1227. they didn't know what I do.

1228. And they didn't know the officer I had

1229. sat in what I had heard

1230. >> and he'd get up there In fact,

1231. this year they're moving to kid pitch

1232. and they had practiced uh Tuesday night

1233. while I was in Monroe. And so the coach

1234. was pitching a little bit harder getting

1235. ready for kid pitch. I said, "How'd he

1236. do?" My wife said he hit seven out of

  1237. 10.

1238. Somebody said, "That ain't much."

1239. Well, you know what it is? It's just

  1240. mana.

  1241. >> That's right. You're right.

1242. And I'm going to tell you, if God's done

1243. it before, God can do it again.

  1244. >> Don't step over the mana.

1245. >> See, Jesus will show up in things you

  1246. didn't want.

  1247. >> You're right.

1248. >> You may be down and feel like God has

  1249. somehow forgotten

1250. that you are faced with circumstances

  1251. you can't get through.

1252. Right now, it seems there's no way out

1253. and I'm going under. But God's proven

1254. time and time again, he'll take care of

1255. you and he'll do it again.

  1256. He'll do it again.

1257. Just take a look at where YOU ARE NOW

1258. and where you have been.

1259. as he always come through for you. He's

1260. the same now as then. YOU MAY NOT KNOW

1261. HOW. YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHEN, BUT HE'LL DO

  1262. IT AGAIN.

1263. And he'll do it again. He'll do it

  1264. again.

1265. OH, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT WHERE YOU ARE

1266. NOW. I'm not in that DOCTOR'S OFFICE

1267. ANYMORE. I'M STANDING ON A BALL FIELD

1268. AND WHERE YOU were then and hasn't he

  1269. always come through

1270. hasn't he always come through

1271. >> HASN'T HE ALWAYS COME THROUGH FOR YOU?

1272. HE'S the same now AS THEN. YOU MAY NOT

1273. KNOW HOW. YOU MAY NOT KNOW WHEN. AND I

1274. KNOW HE'LL DO IT AGAIN.

  1275. And he'll DO IT AGAIN. I'M GLAD HE'S

1276. FAITHFUL. AND HE'S GOOD AT GOD. AND YOU

1277. MAY NOT KNOW HOW GOD'S GOING TO DO IT.

1278. AND YOU MAY NOT KNOW HOW HE'S GOING TO

1279. FIX IT. BUT HE'S TOO FAITHFUL TO MAKE A

  1280. MISTAKE.

1281. >> Just take your medicine. Amen.

  1282. >> He ain't failed you.

  1283. >> You're right.

  1284. >> He ain't let you down. You're

  1285. >> right.

  1286. >> God's never said, "Whoops."

  1287. >> God's never said, "I didn't see that

  1288. coming."

1289. >> He just always does right.

1290. >> He always does good. And it could be

1291. like Jacob one night, you're out in the

1292. field somewhere and an angel says, "Unto

1293. us a child is born."

1294. >> And standing somewhere in the shadows of

  1295. your adversity,

  1296. >> you'll find Jesus.

1297. Now, it may not be a special needs

  1298. child.

  1299. >> It may be a prodigal

1300. >> may be in need. Everybody's got

1301. something tonight. Remember that one

1302. issue of blood. Everybody's got an

  1303. issue.

  1304. >> But I'm glad Jesus

  1305. >> is right

1306. >> for whatever is wrong

  1307. >> in your life. I preached 37 minutes.

  1308. Let's stand together. I appreciate your

  1309. attention

1310. and say, "Come with us on tonight." I

  1311. don't know what your need is. I don't

  1312. know what you're facing. I don't know

  1313. what you're carrying.

1314. But God ain't let you down, honey.

  1315. God ain't failed you.

1316. Sometimes I got to preach this by faith

1317. cuz it looks like he has.

1318. But then a report card comes home.

1319. Then there's an RBI double.

1320. You know what he does now? He sits on

1321. the front row and he rots out my

1322. scripture while I preach. Sister, that

1323. boy that said never graduate high

1324. school. And what I'm finding out, I'm

1325. saving all them honor roll things. When

1326. that boy graduates, I'm going to put the

1327. diploma on top of it and I'm walking

1328. back in that doctor's office and I'm

1329. going to lay him on his desk as a

1330. testimony of the grace of God. I don't

1331. know what you need is tonight. I know

1332. God's faithful, God's good, and God can.

  1333. Tonight,

1334. folks are praying. You mind the Lord

1335. tonight. God's spoken to your heart.

  1336. Bring it to Jesus.

  1337. Bring it to him.

1338. Lay at his feet. Say, "Lord, I can't,

  1339. but you can.

1340. God, help your people tonight.

  1341. I want an America.

1342. He say I'm getting medicine.

  1343. We're living in a broken world.

1344. But I'm glad Jesus can fix it.

1345. But if he doesn't fix it,

1346. I'm glad he can help me get through.

1347. I don't need enough grace to get me to

1348. Janu to December of this year. I just

1349. need enough grace to get me home

  1350. tonight.

1351. If he'll do that, he'll give me enough

1352. grace to get to church Sunday.

1353. You mind God tonight? Your pastor comes.

1354. It's going to be all right.

  1355. Just hang in there.

  1356. Father in Jesus, name.

1357. Lord, thank you for the word of God.

1358. God, I want to say thank you for your

  1359. servant.

1360. Thank you for the testimony,

1361. God. Thank you for those sermons that

1362. come straight from the heart.

  1363. Lord, I'm thankful for

1364. the truth in all of our lives, Lord,

  1365. that you're never

1366. going to use us until you first break

  1367. us.

1368. >> But Lord, when you break us, you'll give

  1369. us medicine.

  1370. >> Yes.

1371. And I want to say thank you.

1372. Thank you for the medicine, that grace.

1373. Lord, the prophet took that role and it

  1374. was bitter,

1375. but then it became sweet.

  1376. I'm thankful,

1377. God, if we'll just take what you give

1378. us, Lord. I know it might be bitter at

  1379. first, but God, I'm thankful it'll

  1380. become sweet.

1381. Lord, would you help us, Father, be

1382. obedient to you? I pray every heart

1383. tonight was obedient to the word of God.

1384. Lord, help us to be obedient to the

1385. preaching tonight. I thank you again for

1386. your servant, Lord. I pray for every

1387. situation tonight. Lord, you know, every

1388. need. I pray if there's somebody here

1389. lost tonight, God, pray wouldn't leave.

1390. Lord, if there somebody has a need,

1391. Father, I pray God they wouldn't leave

1392. till they get some answers from you.

1393. Lord, I know that you're willing and

1394. ready to listen. Father, if we'll speak,

1395. thank you for what you've done for us in

  1396. Jesus name.

  1397. Amen.

1398. >> Thank you for joining our service today.
