  8. God.

  9. >> Amen. Luke's Gospel chapter 17. If you

  10. have a Bible, find your place there. If

  11. you would stand. Luke's Gospel, chapter

  12. 17.

  13. He is worthy of our praise.

  14. >> Amen.

  15. >> And u I don't know how you feel. I don't

  16. know where you're at, but I'll tell you

  17. this. He's still worthy. Amen. And I'm

  18. thankful his grace is sufficient.

  19. >> Yes.

  20. >> And whatever you're going through, he'll

  21. help you

  22. >> and he wants to help you. Amen. And if

  23. you only let him, Amen. He will help

  24. you. And I appreciate you being here in

  25. the house of God today. Luke's Gospel

  26. chapter 17 verse number 24.

  27. Luke's Gospel chapter 17 verse 24. The

  28. Bible says, "For as the lightning that

  29. lightenth out of the one part under

  30. heaven shineth unto the other part under

  31. heaven, so shall also the Son of man be

  32. in his day. But first must he suffer

  33. many things and be rejected of this

  34. generation. And as it was in the days of

  35. Noah, so shall it be also in the days of

  36. the Son of Man. They did eat, they

  37. drank, they married wives, they were

  38. given in marriage until the day that

  39. Noah entered into the ark, and the flood

  40. came and destroyed them all. Likewise

  41. also, as it was in the days of Lot, they

  42. did eat, they drank, they bought, they

  43. sold, they planted, they builded. But

  44. the same day that Lot went out of Sodom,

  45. it rained fire and brimstone from heaven

  46. >> and destroyed them all. Even thus shall

  47. it be in the day when the Son of Man is

  48. revealed. Father, thank you for this

  49. good day, for your grace and your mercy

  50. towards us. Thank you, Father, for your

  51. kindness. And Lord, I ask you for just a

  52. little while, God, that you would help

  53. us this morning, God, as we've come to

  54. preach today. God, I thank you for this

  55. pull pit, this church, God, this

  56. ministry, Lord, that you've entrusted to

  57. me, God. I'm not worthy of it today, but

  58. God, I really need your help. And God, I

  59. pray, Father, that Lord, as we felt your

  60. spirit this morning, God, I pray, Lord,

  61. that he would continue to work and

  62. finger about the hearts, Lord, of your

  63. children as well as those who are lost

  64. this morning in conviction. God, I pray,

  65. Father, Lord, for whatever needs are

  66. present in this in this service. I pray

  67. that you would minister grace, Lord, to

  68. each heart in life. I pray that you'd

  69. help us to receive with meekness the

  70. engrafted word. And I pray that we'd see

  71. no man save Jesus only. And God, I pray,

  72. Father, you'd open our eyes that we

  73. might behold wondrous things in thy law.

  74. And God, I pray, Father, Lord, as John

  75. said in Revelation, even so come

  76. quickly, Lord Jesus. God, I ask you that

  77. you would help us for this little

  78. stretch of time. and we'll be sure to

  79. give you thanks for what you do because

  80. we ask it in Jesus' name. And God's

  81. children said, "Amen."

  82. >> Thank you for standing. You can be

  83. seated this morning. When praying about

  84. this service today, and be honest with

  85. you, the preaching that we've heard this

  86. week, I didn't really know exactly where

  87. to go, what where to start. I feel like

  88. everything's been preached. But I'll be

  89. honest with you, Lord convicted my heart

  90. over that. He said, "No, you got 66

  91. books." Amen. can preach from. And uh

  92. man, I'm telling you, I'm thankful for

  93. this Bible. Amen. It is the inspired,

  94. inherit, and infallible word of God. And

  95. the Lord placed this subject on my

  96. heart. I've been praying uh what

  97. direction he'd have us to go in. And I

  98. want to preach for just a little while

  99. this morning on the second coming of

  100. Jesus Christ. Now, I've preached many

  101. messages here at the church on this.

  102. Been been a while since I preached on

  103. this subject, but I tell you this, we're

  104. closer today than we was yesterday. And

  105. I really believe that Jesus is going to

  106. come at any time. I don't believe it's

  107. going to be very long. And I was

  108. thinking about this text particularly as

  109. many there's a text that I love to

  110. preach from concerning the second

  111. coming. I love to go to Matthew chapter

    Matthew 25 chapter mention

  112. 25 and preach on those 10 virgins over

  113. there and how they five of them had oil

  114. in their lamps and in their vessels.

  115. Amen. And five those five foolish they

  116. only had it in their lamps. Amen. and

  117. representing that profession that they

  118. had, but they didn't have it on their

  119. person. And I'll say this, salvation

  120. this morning is personal. Amen. And you

  121. can have a lamp of profession, but

  122. you'll find one of these days when he

  123. does come back that that lamp, that oil

  124. run out of that profession. Amen. But

  125. I'll tell you, those ones that had oil

  126. in their vessel. Amen. They were able to

  127. go into the marriage. Amen. And I'm

  128. thankful that for you and I this morning

  129. that Jesus lives on the inside. Amen. if

  130. you've been born again by the grace of

  131. God. And I want to lay just a few things

  132. on your heart by way of introduction and

  133. then give you the message this morning.

  134. And the Bible says in our text this

  135. morning, verse number 24, Jesus is

  136. speaking. He says, "For as the lightning

  137. that lightenth out of the one part under

  138. heaven shineth under the other part

  139. under heaven, so shall also the son of

  140. man be in his day." And so here we have

  141. the very Messiah himself describing the

  142. instance of his coming as lightning.

  143. I'll say this, his coming will be

  144. sudden. Amen. But I'll say this, his c

  145. his coming is going to be shocking.

  146. Amen. To many people, there's going to

  147. be those that were unaware of the time

  148. that he's coming. Now, we know this

  149. morning, let me say this, theologically

  150. speaking, this text is not dealing with

  151. the rapture primarily, but it is dealing

  152. with the revelation of Jesus when he's

  153. going to come back to this earth that

  154. final time and land upon the Mount of

  155. Olives there. And the Bible says that

  156. it'll split and then he'll walk there

  157. into Jerusalem through that valley.

  158. Amen. Through that eastern gate, amen.

  159. And he'll rule and super rule there in

  160. Jerusalem. Amen. And this is that

  161. reference. But let me say this, the

  162. application is the same. Amen. We are

  163. looking for the rapture, the catching

  164. away before the revelation. There must

  165. be the rapture. Amen. And let me say

  166. this to you this morning. I heard a man

  167. just the other day, and I think it's a

  168. man that many of us probably have

  169. listened to before. I call his name. I

  170. think his name is Kent Hovind. I think

  171. is his name. But he defends creation,

  172. and he's de he's debated with atheists

  173. down through the years. And he made the

  174. statement the other day. He said, "I

  175. believed for 40 years in the

  176. pre-tribulation rapture of the church."

  177. He said, "But now I've come to realize

  178. that we're going to have to go through

  179. all of the tribulation." And I was

  180. watching that clip and thinking to

  181. myself, "Well, I wonder what's made him

  182. fall off of his rocker all of a sudden."

  183. You say, "What do you mean?" Well, I'm

  184. saying, friend, if he saved me from

  185. hell, amen. He's certainly not going to

  186. let me go through hell on earth.

  187. Somebody say amen right there. And I

  188. don't care who comes up with it or who

  189. says it. Amen. I'm not going through

  190. three and a half or all seven. If you go

  191. through one day of it, friend, you going

  192. to be there for the rest of it. Amen.

  193. But I'll say this, I'm getting out of

  194. here in the rapture. Amen. And Kent

  195. Hovine can hang around for it if he

  196. wants to. Amen. But I'm leaving here.

  197. Praise God. Amen. And Jesus when he

  198. comes back, the Bible says that he'll

  199. descend with a shout and the voice of

  200. the archangel and the trump of God.

  201. What's your Bible say? And the dead in

  202. Christ shall rise first. Then we which

  203. are alive and remain shall be caught up

  204. together to meet them in the clouds, to

  205. meet the Lord in the air, and so shall

  206. WE EVER BE WITH THE LORD. AMEN.

  207. >> He's coming back.

  208. >> And he describes his coming as

  209. lightning. Now, I want to remind you,

  210. he's talking about his revelation here

  211. in the text. And of course, we know that

  212. when Jesus descends upon that Mount of

  213. Olives, and the Bible literally says

  214. that that mountain is going to split

  215. there, the Mount of Olives, he's going

  216. to descend and walk there into

  217. Jerusalem. But I'll say this, Jesus

  218. doesn't only talk about his coming in

  219. verse number 24. But he also talks about

  220. his cross. Notice verse 25. But first

  221. must he suffer many things. Look what

  222. your Bible says. and be rejected of this

  223. generation. You see, our Bible literally

  224. says in this text that he told his

  225. disciples, he said, "The days will come

  226. when you shall desire to see one of the

  227. days of the Son of Man." And he said,

  228. "You shall not see it." But what he was

  229. going to tell him was this. Hey, there's

  230. coming a day when I'm going to have to

  231. go to the cross long before I can ever

  232. come back and be your king. I'm going to

  233. have to go to the cross as the lamb and

  234. be slain for the sins of the world.

  235. Amen. And he said, "I must suffer." And

  236. so he prophesies of the cross of

  237. Calvary. And let me say this. I'm

  238. thankful that for that cross, that's the

  239. reason that God still saves old sinners.

  240. Amen. I don't care how deep in sin you

  241. are. I don't care how far you think

  242. you've gone. I'm thankful that Calvary

  243. and the blood of Jesus IS STILL ABLE TO

  244. SAVE TO THE UTTERMOST. AMEN. Them that

  245. would call upon him by faith. And so

  246. Jesus speaks of his coming. But he ALSO

  247. SPEAKS OF HIS cross in verse 25 that he

  248. first must suffer many things. And in

  249. verse number 26, the Bible says here

  250. that he begins to describe the character

  251. of his coming. Notice what the Bible

  252. says. And as it was in the days of Noah,

  253. so shall it be also in the days of the

  254. son of man.

  255. You see, Jesus is here describing what

  256. society will be like when he comes back.

  257. And you've heard it said, and I've heard

  258. it said down through the years, that if

  259. Jesus is describing this society as it

  260. would be at his revelation, and that is

  261. yet at least seven years from where we

  262. are right now, what would it be like?

  263. What must it be like when he does come

  264. back that time?

  265. >> Right? If our world represents what

  266. Jesus is speaking about in this text

  267. now, how soon must he be coming? You're

  268. >> right.

  269. >> You must understand that he is speaking

  270. of event that if he was to come in the

  271. rapture in the next five minutes, that

  272. has to at least be seven years from now.

  273. Seven years of tribulation, seven years

  274. of Jacob's trouble, seven years of

  275. darkness and defilement and demons on

  276. this earth unleashed in judgment. And

  277. you say, "Preacher, what are you

  278. saying?" And I'm saying if he is

  279. describing the world that we are living

  280. in right now, how soon must he be

  281. coming?

  282. >> You're right.

  283. >> Because the rapture must happen first.

  284. And I notice in this text, Jesus says,

  285. "As it was in the days of Noah." And you

  286. notice later on verse number 28,

  287. "Likewise also as it was in the days of

  288. Lot." And he used two biblical instances

  289. to describe to us the society

  290. of the world that will be present at his

  291. second advent.

  292. And I want to give you five things this

  293. morning. Just simple what the Lord put

  294. on my heart that is described in these

  295. verses what it's going to be like when

  296. Jesus comes back. I hope you'll put

  297. these things down in your Bible or in

  298. your notes this morning. I want to say

  299. this. You notice in this text, the Bible

  300. says in verse number 26, you notice

  301. there, as it was in the days of Noah, so

  302. shall it also be in the days of the son

  303. of man. And what you're going to notice

  304. about this, and I'll give you these

  305. couple of thoughts, and I'll give you

  306. the message here. I I would say you what

  307. you notice in this text is that things

  308. were normal.

  309. The Bible says they did eat, they drank,

  310. they married wives, they were given in

  311. marriage until the day that Noah entered

  312. into the ark. I'll say this, not only

  313. were things normal, but needs were

  314. present. You know, people are talking

  315. about in this day and time that there's

  316. a Christ there's a sector of

  317. Christianity that says that um that

  318. Jesus is going to come back to this

  319. earth because the church is just going

  320. to get so holy and so right with God

  321. that is just going to overtake the whole

  322. world and Jesus is just going to come

  323. back rule and reign over his church.

  324. Well, I submit to you that's not the

  325. Bible truth.

  326. >> Amen. That crowd that believes and

  327. preaches that stuff, they been they're

  328. very wrong when they say that. You

  329. understand things have got to get worse.

  330. >> Paul said in the last days, perilous

  331. times will come. Troublesome times,

  332. dangerous times, SINFUL AND DEFILED

  333. TIMES. THERE WILL BE NEEDS. THE CHURCH

  334. WILL BE IN NEED of revival.

  335. >> You're right.

  336. >> When he comes, I'll say this, Israel in

  337. this text will be in a desperate place

  338. >> when he comes. There is needs there. It

  339. will seem normal, but the spiritual

  340. side, there will be needs. But I think

  341. about this in the text. Notice what the

  342. Bible says in verse number 28. Likewise

  343. also as it was in the days of Lot, they

  344. did eat, they drank, they bought, they

  345. sold, they planted, they builded. You

  346. know, I thought about this. Society

  347. would be normal. The spiritual part of

  348. the church that would be present or the

  349. Jews that's in this text there, there

  350. will be need spiritually. But I'll say

  351. this in life as a whole, the necessities

  352. will continue on.

  353. >> Notice what said. They bought, they

  354. sold, they planted, and they builded.

  355. Now you say, "What is all of that?"

  356. Well, you notice in the text there,

  357. there's meals that are given in verse 27

  358. as well as in verse 28. Also, in the

  359. days of Lot and in the days of Noah,

  360. they were eating, they were drinking.

  361. This does not literally mean that they

  362. were given to alcohol. That's not even

  363. what this is saying. It just saying that

  364. they were having their meals,

  365. >> right? Not only that, but in the days of

  366. Noah, there's marriages. Look what the

  367. Bible says. They married wives. They

  368. were given in marriage. That means that

  369. wives were given to husbands and vice

  370. versa. Men married wives and wives were

  371. given to husbands and marriages were

  372. normal. The necessities of life were

  373. continuing on. Not only meals and

  374. marriages, but you notice there's

  375. marketing in the text. They bought and

  376. they sold. Things are just going on. You

  377. say, "What does this have to do?" This

  378. is what Jesus is describing.

  379. >> You're right.

  380. >> Before he comes back.

  381. >> Yeah.

  382. >> This is a description of the last day of

  383. the last of the last days. This is a

  384. description of the time just before he

  385. comes. They're marketing, they're

  386. manufacturing, they plan it, and they

  387. build it.

  388. Life is progressing. You're

  389. >> right.

  390. >> You say, "Preacher, is that the

  391. message?" No, that's not the message. I

  392. want to give you these five truths this

  393. morning.

  394. You see, Jesus says all of this to

  395. emphasize to us the fact that he could

  396. come at any moment.

  397. >> And we know that he's soon coming. But I

  398. thought about this. What do we know

  399. about these stories? What do we know

  400. about Noah's story and about Lot's

  401. story? And these five truths come to my

  402. mind. Write this down with me. Number

  403. one, I think if you look at the society

  404. in Noah's day as well as in Lot's day, I

  405. would say number one, they're distracted

  406. by life.

  407. >> They're distracted

  408. by life. You say, "What is that,

  409. preacher?" Well, I think about Noah's

  410. story in particular. The Bible teaches

  411. us that some 120 years Noah has building

  412. this boat. And brother Marty and Sister

  413. Robin just went up there and seen that

  414. boat. And I was thinking about this

  415. while we was talking about that this

  416. morning. The amazement of that

  417. architecture of that thing. People come

  418. from all over the world to see it. But

  419. you think about this. Noah was building

  420. that boat in a day when nobody had ever

  421. seen rain.

  422. >> Right?

  423. >> Water had never fallen from the sky. He

  424. was building a boat in a day when men

  425. and women didn't not they looked at Noah

  426. and they thought he was the most insane,

  427. stupid man that's ever been. You're

  428. >> right. Noah, the Bible says that as he

  429. was building that ark, Peter says that

  430. there were eight souls that were saved

  431. by water. That was him and his wife and

  432. his three sons and their wives. Eight

  433. souls that were saved. And you

  434. understand that entire society was so

  435. distracted by life that they didn't even

  436. take time to notice.

  437. >> You're right.

  438. >> What Noah was doing.

  439. >> You know what the truth is? Society

  440. doesn't even know for the most part what

  441. we're doing this morning. You're

  442. >> right.

  443. They don't even notice.

  444. We We do our best to propagate the

  445. gospel and and to plant seeds of faith

  446. and society and try our best to live the

  447. Christian life, but really as a whole,

  448. we don't affect them that much.

  449. >> Right?

  450. >> They don't notice what's going on. And

  451. what do we know about society? They're

  452. distracted by their own busyness. You're

  453. >> right.

  454. >> Their lives are full of things and

  455. places and people, but it is not full of

  456. Jesus. There is no person in their life.

  457. There is no salvation. There is no

  458. service. There is no real life.

  459. >> They know nothing about spiritual life.

  460. But they know a whole lot about temporal

  461. life. That's

  462. >> right.

  463. >> And I'll say this, the church in this

  464. day and time has to be careful to not

  465. let the world infiltrate

  466. their our mindsets. You see, our number

  467. one purpose and primary goal as the

  468. church is to live out the will of God.

  469. >> Right? And Noah as he was building that

  470. ark those years you you don't you

  471. wouldn't you would be crazy to think

  472. that there were people that that down

  473. Noah and said what are you doing?

  474. There's people that look at us that way.

  475. >> But I'll tell you the reason why is

  476. because they're too distracted by their

  477. own life.

  478. >> So much I could say this morning but I

  479. want to preach and get done this

  480. morning. I think not only they were

  481. distracted by life. You you take talk

  482. about Lot's instance. Those those men

  483. there in Sodom and Gomorrah, they're

  484. distracted by their own living. We'll

  485. say more about that in just a minute.

  486. But I'll say this. Not only they were

  487. distracted by life, number two, they

  488. were defiled by lust,

  489. the generation as a whole. And you say,

  490. "How is that, preacher?" Well, you

  491. notice you think in these text, I I

  492. remind you, he's talking about the

  493. kingdoms this morning and that realm.

  494. You think about the realm in Noah's day.

  495. It had to do with the whole earth,

  496. >> right?

  497. >> You say, "How is that?" Well, listen to

  498. what he says. Genesis chapter 6, verse

    Genesis 6 chapter mention

  499. number five. You've probably heard it

  500. quoted before, but listen to what the

  501. Bible says. God is describing

  502. the human race. Now, of course, we know

  503. here in the text that there is a

  504. division that's given of of of uh Cain's

  505. children and the godly line of Seth

  506. that's seen in Genesis 6. Whether or not

  507. you believe that that's that's no

  508. doesn't really make a difference. But

  509. the description is given in verse number

  510. five of the entirety of that generation.

  511. Genesis 6 the Bible says and God saw

  512. that the wickedness of man was great in

  513. the earth. Notice that and that every

  514. imagination of the thoughts of his heart

  515. was only what? Evil continually. Verse

  516. six. And it repented the Lord that he

  517. had made man on the earth and it grieved

  518. him at his heart. And the Lord said, "I

  519. will destroy man whom I have created

  520. from the face of the earth." God is sick

  521. with the sin of the world. THEY ARE

  522. DEFILED BY THEIR LUST.

  523. >> RIGHT?

  524. >> You say, "Preacher, what does that have

  525. to do with Lot's day?" Well, you never

  526. heard of the sin of Sodomy,

  527. >> right?

  528. >> Sodom and Gomorrah. It's where it

  529. originated. The wickedness of that city

  530. was so great. God had already promised.

  531. the the in the past that he put his bow

  532. in the cloud and for Noah that he would

  533. not flood the earth again and and kill

  534. all those sinners. But you understand

  535. that God was so disgusted with the sin

  536. of Sodom and Gomorrah that even though

  537. he had promised not to judge the

  538. entirety of the earth again. He would

  539. yet again judge a group of people

  540. because their sin was so wicked and so

  541. grievious in the sight of God that God

  542. could not stand to let it go on.

  543. >> Right. Right.

  544. >> And the Bible says in the book of

  545. Genesis chapter number 13 and verse

  546. number 13 that the men of Sodom were

  547. wicked and sinners exceedingly

  548. >> before the Lord. You're

  549. >> right.

  550. >> And the Bible is literally giving the

  551. description there that Lot had chosen

  552. the plain of Mamry and and or the plain

  553. of Jordan and Abraham and chose the

  554. plains of Mamry and Lot had pitched his

  555. tent toward Sodom. And we know the

  556. story. Lot ends up there just a few

  557. short chapters down the road, he's got

  558. his tent toward it. But we find just a

  559. few more chapters over that Lot's living

  560. in the gate. His family is involved in

  561. the society and the entirety of his

  562. family had become defiled by this very

  563. same lust. You're

  564. >> right.

  565. >> You know what I find interesting in

  566. Jesus's account? Verse 27, he said, "In

  567. the days of Noah, they eat, they did

  568. eat, they drank, they married wives, and

  569. they were given in marriage." But notice

  570. verse 28. They did eat, they drank, they

  571. bought, they sold, they planted, and

  572. they builded. What do you not find?

  573. There's no marriage.

  574. The day of sodomy and fornication and

  575. adultery that was present there in the

  576. land of Sodom and Gomorrah, marriage was

  577. excluded.

  578. >> Right?

  579. Bible talks about those that forbid to

  580. marry. Now, I'm not going to go into all

  581. that this morning, but the truth, what

  582. I'm trying to relay to you is this. This

  583. society was wicked. They were defiled by

  584. their lust. Peter describes them in his

  585. epistle that God delivered just Lot

  586. vexed with a filthy conversation of the

  587. wicked. Jude describes Sodom and

  588. Gomorrah talks of their wickedness.

  589. These people were defiled by their lust.

  590. And you say, "What is that?" that. Well,

  591. think about our society.

  592. Our society is drunk on fornication and

  593. pornography and adultery and sodomy and

  594. homosexualism and all the other isms and

  595. schisms that are in OUR WORLD. WE'RE

  596. DRUNK ON THIS LUST in our world today.

  597. >> And it's A DESCRIPTION. JESUS SAYS, "AS

  598. IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH, AS IT WAS IN

  599. THE DAYS OF LOT, IT'S GOING TO BE THAT

  600. WAY WHEN I COME BACK." You're

  601. >> right.

  602. They are defiled by their lust.

  603. Covetousness has overtaken them. The

  604. love of money has overtaken their mind.

  605. And they have defiled themselves and

  606. pierced themselves through with many

  607. sorrows BECAUSE THEY'RE ONLY SEEKING to

  608. gratify the flesh.

  609. >> Right?

  610. >> They're distracted by life. They're

  611. defiled by lust. But I'll say this. You

  612. say, "Preacher, we know all that." Well,

  613. let me remind you something. They wasn't

  614. without guidance.

  615. Noah's day wasn't without guidance.

  616. Lot's day wasn't without guidance.

  617. >> You say, "How is that?" Well, I'd say

  618. they're distracted by lie. They're

  619. defiled by lust. But they were they were

  620. directed by a leader.

  621. >> They had somebody to tell them the

  622. truth. You say, "How is that?" Well,

  623. listen to what the Bible says in the

  624. book of Genesis, chapter number 19. God

  625. has told Abraham and and the those two

  626. angels have come down there to Sodom and

  627. Gomorrah to speak unto Lot. And they're

  628. telling him, "Hey, you've got to get out

  629. of this city, Lot. You've got to do YOUR

  630. BEST TO GET YOUR FAMILY OUT OF THIS

  631. CITY." And Lot, the Bible says that he

  632. was a righteous soul. According to the

  633. New Testament, that he was righteous and

  634. he vexed his righteous soul with a

  635. filthy conversation of the wicked. Their

  636. lifestyle vexed him. And Lot, the Bible

  637. says, he gives a message to them. Verse

  638. 13 of Genesis 19. The angel say unto

  639. him, for we will destroy this place,

  640. because the cry of them is wax and drake

  641. before the face of the Lord. And the

  642. Lord hath sent us to destroy it. Verse

  643. 14. And Lot went out and spake unto his

  644. sons-in-law, which married his

  645. daughters, and said up, get you out of

  646. this place, for the Lord will destroy

  647. this city. But listen to what your Bible

  648. says. But he seemed as one that mocked

  649. unto his sons-in-law.

  650. They didn't listen to the direction God

  651. had given them.

  652. >> Right?

  653. >> You say, "Preacher, but that was just to

  654. his children." You understand? GOD HAD

  655. ALREADY TURNED over the rest of that

  656. crowd to reprobate mind.

  657. >> God had already given them over. HE THEY

  658. WERE DONE. THEY were going to be

  659. destroyed. AND GOD WAS GOING TO TAKE

  660. VENGEANCE ON THAT CITY.

  661. >> RIGHT?

  662. >> He said, "Lot, get your children." LOT

  663. GOES TO HIS CHILDREN. THEY laugh in his

  664. face.

  665. >> So what does he do? He gets his two

  666. daughters that have not that are not

  667. married in the text and brings them out.

  668. We've studied it before here at the

  669. church that Lot at least had two sons

  670. that were in the city married. And he

  671. also had at least two daughters that

  672. were in that city. And those two

  673. sons-in-law, they mocked at him. His own

  674. sons, the Bible doesn't even say

  675. anything about them. But he left over

  676. half of his family in that city AND THEY

  677. WERE DIRECTED TO LEAVE. BUT WHAT DID

  678. THEY DO? THEY STAYED.

  679. >> YOU'RE RIGHT. YOU KNOW, IT SICKENS me in

  680. this day and time when preachers will

  681. preach and Sunday school teachers will

  682. teach and parents WILL PRAY AND TRY TO

  683. GUIDE THEIR CHILDREN AND TO GUIDE THEIR

  684. FAMILY, but seems like people just want

  685. to continue TO DO WHATEVER GRATIFIES OUR

  686. FLESH,

  687. >> RIGHT?

  688. >> It's not because we don't HAVE A LEADER.

  689. IT'S NOT BECAUSE WE'VE NOT BEEN TOLD

  690. WHAT TO DO. IT'S NOT BECAUSE WE DON'T

  691. HAVE CLEAR DIRECTION FROM THE WORD OF

  692. GOD. IT'S BECAUSE PEOPLE DO NOT LISTEN

  693. TO THE LEADERSHIP. YES.

  694. >> YOU SAY, "PREACHER, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE

  695. TO DO WITH NOAH?" WELL, listen to what

  696. the Bible says in 2 Peter chapter 2.

    2 Peter 2 chapter mention

  697. SECOND PETER CHAPTER 2 AND VERSE number

    2 Peter 2 chapter mention

  698. five. The Bible says, "And God, HE

  699. SPARED NOT THE old world, but saved Noah

  700. the eighth person, notice this phrase, a

  701. preacher

  702. of

  703. righteousness,

  704. bringing in the flood upon the world of

  705. the ungodly." You know what Noah was

  706. doing the whole time he was building

  707. that ark? He had a friend, he had a

  708. HAMMER IN ONE HAND and a sword IN HIS

  709. HEART. AMEN. AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE WAS

  710. DOING? HE WAS GIVING OUT THE WORD OF

  711. GOD, TELLING THAT CROWD, "HEY, THERE'S A

  712. FLOOD COMING. GOD'S GOING TO SEND THE

  713. RAIN. WATER'S GOING TO FALL FROM THE

  714. SKY. JUDGMENT IS COMING. IT'S COMING.

  715. IT'S IMMINENT. I'M TELLING YOU, I'M NOT

  716. A FOOL. GOD HAS TOLD ME THAT HE'S COMING

  717. TO JUDGE THE WORLD." AND YOU KNOW WHAT?

  718. ALL THAT TIME NOAH PREACHED and not A

  719. SOUL BELIEVED AND NOT A SOUL HOOKED UP

  720. WITH WHAT HE SAID. BUT I'LL TELL YOU

  721. THIS, WHEN HE WENT INTO THAT ARK AND GOD

  722. SHUT THE DOOR BEHIND HIM, YOU BETTER

  723. BELIEVE WHEN THE RAIN STARTED TO FALL

  724. THAT THEM SOULS OF THOSE MEN, THAT

  725. WICKED GENERATION BEGAN TO RUN UP AND

  726. BEAT THE SIDE OF THAT ARK. NOAH, LET US

  727. IN. NOAH, LET US IN. WE BELIEVE YOU,

  728. NOAH.

  729. >> But if they just listen to him,

  730. >> That's right. You're right. You see,

  731. they were directed.

  732. >> They had a leader,

  733. >> right?

  734. >> Noah, the preacher of righteousness.

  735. You say, "Well, Lot wasn't a righteous

  736. man." Well, the Bible says that he was.

  737. Let me say this. Lot had been told what

  738. to do,

  739. >> right?

  740. >> Before all of that,

  741. Abraham taught him the right way.

  742. >> Yeah.

  743. >> Furthermore, them angels come down there

  744. to tell him to get out,

  745. >> right?

  746. >> You know what they had to do? They had

  747. to drag him out.

  748. I'm convinced they saved people that

  749. would die and go to hell if the Holy

  750. Spirit of God wouldn't keep them.

  751. >> You're right.

  752. >> Let me say this and I know what I just

  753. said is, you know, you say, "Preacher,

  754. well, all of us would die and go to

  755. hell." I'm saying what what the truth

  756. I'm trying to make is that people,

  757. Christian people are so in so involved

  758. in sin.

  759. >> People who are saved are living such a

  760. life of sin that they would slip off

  761. into hell if it wasn't for the grace of

  762. God.

  763. >> You're right. Right.

  764. They were directed by a leader. I'll say

  765. this, you're without excuse this

  766. morning.

  767. >> You're right.

  768. >> All those people that were in Sodom and

  769. Gomorrah that were without excuse. You

  770. can go back in the book of Genesis and

  771. and Abraham met up with the king of

  772. Sodom and Gomorrah. He told them it's

  773. same text where he met with Melzdc and

  774. he rebuked their wickedness. All of

  775. that. They knew better,

  776. >> right?

  777. >> You know better.

  778. >> Yeah. Truth is this morning this text is

  779. still the same. Here they were directed.

  780. Notice that as it was in the days of

  781. Noah. Who is described in this these

  782. verses? The days of Noah and the days of

  783. Lot.

  784. >> So much more I could say. Give you this.

  785. Fourthly, they were distracted by life.

  786. They were defiled by lust. They were

  787. directed by a leader. They were not

  788. without guidance. But I'll say this,

  789. they were destroyed

  790. >> by the Lord. Amen.

  791. >> Notice the text again. I know this is

  792. simple this morning, but it's the truth.

  793. Look what the Bible says. Until the day

  794. that Noah entered into the ark and the

  795. flood came, what's your Bible say? And

  796. destroyed them all. This judgment was

  797. total. It destroyed them all. You know,

  798. everybody that was on the outside of the

  799. ark died.

  800. >> Notice verse number verse number 29. But

  801. the same day that Lot went out of Sodom,

  802. it rained fire and brimstone from heaven

  803. and what? Destroyed them all. Everybody

  804. that was in Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot's

  805. children included, did not make it out.

  806. >> You're right.

  807. >> It was total. Well, let me just remind

  808. you of this just once again. It wasn't

  809. only total judgment, but it was foretold

  810. judgment.

  811. >> You're right.

  812. >> Lot told him

  813. >> what his sons, they mocked him. You

  814. crazy fire coming out of heaven. You've

  815. lost your mind, old man.

  816. You know what they did? They ended up

  817. dying.

  818. >> You're right.

  819. >> Burning alive to burn forever.

  820. >> All of those people that had listened to

  821. Noah preach and watched Noah labor. If

  822. there's ever been an example of the

  823. Christian life, that's what is right

  824. there. You're

  825. >> right.

  826. >> Noah spent his life building an ark to

  827. the saving of his house. Hebrews says,

  828. and let me say this, and I'm just going

  829. to hit it while I'm on the subject. If

  830. you lose your family, you've lost

  831. everything.

  832. >> You're right.

  833. >> Come on.

  834. >> I'll tell you this, friend. I'm not

  835. going to sell out any I'm not going to

  836. sell out my family for anything.

  837. >> The day that the spiritual condition of

  838. my wife and my children comes between me

  839. and this church, this church is going to

  840. be the first thing to go.

  841. >> You're right.

  842. >> Come on.

  843. >> They're my first priority.

  844. >> Noah preached to that generation. They

  845. didn't want to hear what he had to say.

  846. >> Yeah.

  847. >> But you know what he did? He saved his

  848. household.

  849. >> Right. Right.

  850. >> And you know what he also did? He lived

  851. a Christian life in front of that bunch.

  852. >> Yeah.

  853. >> They knew who he was.

  854. >> They knew what he was. They knew what he

  855. believed. They knew what he was doing,

  856. why he was doing it. They just couldn't

  857. h they just couldn't hang on to it.

  858. >> Right.

  859. >> That's what I'm finding. You can tell

  860. people the truth. And and you know,

  861. you're living right, doing right, you're

  862. preaching right, staying by that book,

  863. and people cannot argue with you because

  864. you're staying by that book. But this is

  865. what they'll do to you. They'll look at

  866. you and say, "Well, I just don't believe

  867. that."

  868. That's what happened in Noah's day.

  869. You're

  870. >> right.

  871. >> And what happened? They were destroyed.

  872. >> So much more I could say, but I'm going

  873. to move on because I want to get to this

  874. point. You know what? It's all it's not

  875. all doom and gloom in this. You say,

  876. "Well, how is that?" Well, there was

  877. there was destruction and it was total.

  878. It was told, it was truthful. It was God

  879. had already revealed to him by his word

  880. that it would happen. It was based upon

  881. the scripture.

  882. But I'll say this, there was

  883. deliverance.

  884. >> You see, there was destruction. The Lord

  885. destroyed all of those that had given

  886. themselves over to lust.

  887. But you see, there was still deliverance

  888. >> for some into life.

  889. >> Right?

  890. >> Notice what the Bible says again. As it

  891. was in the days of Noah.

  892. You know why it was the days of Noah?

  893. Because Noah was the only one that was

  894. left.

  895. You're

  896. >> right. Noah was the one that walked out

  897. of the ark on the other side.

  898. >> Yes.

  899. >> Come on.

  900. >> Where judgment had covered the entire

  901. earth. Noah and his children, his sons

  902. and their wives walked out on dry land.

  903. Why? Because God delivered them.

  904. >> Right?

  905. >> Lot though he he walked out full of sin.

  906. He lost his wife as he was walking out

  907. of Sodom and Gomorra. think, you know,

  908. you can look at Noah as a picture of the

  909. Jew in a sense that they're, you know,

  910. they're going to come through that

  911. tribulation, come out the other side,

  912. that remnant that'll be saved.

  913. I think Lot pictures a lot of the

  914. church.

  915. Say, what do you mean by that? Well, I

  916. think he pictures the church in the

  917. sense that in the last days, the people

  918. who are truly saved are going to be so

  919. vexed by wickedness.

  920. >> Good. They're going to be delivered, but

  921. they're going to lose everything around

  922. them.

  923. >> Yeah.

  924. >> As they come out. You're

  925. >> right.

  926. >> I think that's what the rapture is going

  927. to do. I think that this thing's going

  928. to get down to the wire so much and the

  929. lines are going to be so blurred that

  930. people don't even realize.

  931. >> Who's saved and who isn't?

  932. >> Yeah.

  933. >> You say, "Well, you're trying to live

  934. right, aren't you?" Yes, I am. I'm doing

  935. the very best that I can. And I'll tell

  936. you, my best ain't much. That's

  937. >> right.

  938. >> But I'm trying to live right. This is

  939. what I know. I know it wouldn't take but

  940. just a moment.

  941. >> Sin is knocking at the door closer than

  942. it's ever been.

  943. >> Right.

  944. >> Sin used to be It used to come in the

  945. mail and then it came on a television.

  946. >> Yeah.

  947. >> And then it came in on a phone.

  948. >> Yeah.

  949. >> And before long it's it's on our wrists

  950. now.

  951. >> That's right.

  952. >> It's in our minds.

  953. >> You're right. Before long, it's going to

  954. be on our eyes.

  955. >> You're right.

  956. >> Say, "What are you saying?" And I'm

  957. saying it's so close.

  958. >> But there is deliverance.

  959. >> I I just I just feel like the Lord

  960. to notice verse 30. Help me, Father.

  961. Verse 30. The Bible says, "Even thus

  962. shall it be in the day when the son of

  963. man," notice this, "is revealed."

  964. I feel like he keeps bringing me back to

  965. this point. You understand this is not

  966. the rapture.

  967. >> This is talking about the time that he's

  968. going to come as king.

  969. >> Yes.

  970. >> To reign over the Jews. Those Jews are

  971. going to come out of the rocks and out

  972. of the mountains where they've been

  973. hiding from the judgment. And they're

  974. going to look on him whom they pierced,

  975. the Bible says. And they're going to see

  976. him. But you realize seven years before

  977. that,

  978. >> yeah,

  979. >> at least seven years before that, he's

  980. going to come back for his children.

  981. >> That's right.

  982. >> And you say, "What's the truth you're

  983. trying to tell me?" Well, I'm saying for

  984. those of us who are saved this morning,

  985. there's people around us who this this

  986. description is true. They're distracted.

  987. They're defiled. And they're not without

  988. direction. You're

  989. >> right.

  990. >> But they're headed for destruction.

  991. >> Yes.

  992. >> And you know who's going to make the

  993. difference?

  994. It's up to you and me.

  995. >> That's right.

  996. >> Jesus has left his word so that they can

  997. have deliverance. Noah and Lot were

  998. delivered. But this is what I'm reminded

  999. of. The Bible says, "There'll be many

1000. that say unto me in that day,"Lord,

1001. Lord, have we not prophesied in thy

1002. name? In thy name cast out devils and

1003. done many wonderful works?" What does

1004. Jesus say? He says, "Depart from me, ye

1005. that work iniquity, for I never knew

  1006. you."

  1007. >> Right?

1008. You see, the day was described as the

1009. days of Noah and the days of Lot because

1010. those were the only two people that God

  1011. knew in those societies.

1012. >> What does the Bible say? God remembered

  1013. Noah.

1014. >> God knew him. God remembered Lot as

  1015. well.

  1016. >> Right?

1017. >> Let me ask you this. If he was to come,

  1018. would he know you

1019. >> right now? If he was to come, you say,

1020. "Preacher, he's not going to come right

  1021. now." I don't know that. You don't

  1022. either.

  1023. >> You're right.

1024. >> He could come at any moment. The driving

1025. force of this message today is that if

1026. you're here today and you're lost, you

  1027. need to be saved.

1028. >> Every head bowed and every eye closed.

1029. These altars are open. Christians are

  1030. praying.

1031. God still saves old sinners. We know

1032. that. We believe that. The simplicity of

1033. this message this morning is to tell you

1034. that you can be saved.

1035. If your life, if you can live a life of

1036. sin and it does not bother you,

1037. I would be spending some time talking to

1038. the Lord about that thing.

1039. If you can if you can get by with

  1040. anything and everything

1041. and never feel the tug of the Holy

  1042. Spirit,

  1043. >> Yeah.

  1044. I'd be checking up.

  1045. >> Yes.

1046. >> You see, it's not our job

  1047. to keep our salvation.

1048. I'm not working to keep my salvation.

  1049. I'm working for Jesus because he's

  1050. keeping my salvation.

1051. We're kept by the power of God. And if

1052. you're saved, you can't lose it. Well,

1053. let me ask you something.

1054. You're struggling with doubt because

1055. you're living in sin. Why would you

  1056. continue to do that?

  1057. Why?

1058. Let me remind you. Faith

1059. is the substance of things hoped for,

1060. the evidence of things not seen.

1061. All it takes is trust in him.

1062. Some people will never get saved because

  1063. they trust their sin

1064. more than they trust the Savior.

1065. They want they desire satisfaction more

  1066. than they desire salvation.

1067. Let me ask you this morning, you say,

  1068. "Preacher,

1069. I don't know if Jesus was to come back

1070. in the rapture. I don't know if I'd go

  1071. with him or not."

1072. Anybody be honest like that? Say,

1073. "Preacher, would you pray for me? I just

  1074. don't know.

1075. Slip your hand up right back down. I

1076. want to pray for you today.

1077. Preacher, would you pray for me?

  1078. I just don't know.

1079. Just don't know. Slip your hand up and

1080. hold it up where I can see it.

1081. Hold it up where I can see it.

1082. God knows your heart now.

1083. You're not fooling him. You fool all us,

1084. but you ain't going to fool him. Let me

1085. ask you this, child of God. If Jesus

1086. were to come back, would you be ashamed?

1087. Look, I know this is simple this

1088. morning. I'm just a simple preacher, but

1089. I got to tell you the truth

1090. if he was to come, would he be would you

  1091. be ashamed?

1092. Would you be ashamed before him? Say,

1093. "Preacher, would you pray for me? I'm

1094. not right with the Lord."

1095. Be honest between you and God. Slip your

1096. hand up. I pray for you, preacher. I'm

1097. not right with the Lord.

  1098. God knows.

  1099. God knows. Father,

1100. Lord, would you help us this morning,

1101. God? I know there's somebody on each of

  1102. our hearts today,

  1103. Lord, that

1104. has walked a distance from you,

1105. Lord, as a child of God. They've

1106. journeyied away from your presence.

1107. Lord, I pray you'd give them grace

  1108. today.

1109. Lord, if there's one here that's lost,

1110. God, I pray you wouldn't let them leave

  1111. this place.

1112. God, don't let them leave. Lord, I thank

1113. you for saving Morgan this past week.

  1114. But God, I realize, Father, there's

  1115. others.

1116. There's others that need salvation. God,

  1117. I pray they wouldn't leave today. I

1118. thank you for your sweet spirit today

1119. that we felt. God, I thank you, Father,

1120. for the liberty to preach. And God, I

1121. pray you'll cleanse us, draw us near to

1122. you, and we'll give you thanks for what

1123. you do because we ask it in Jesus name.

  1124. God's children said,

  1125. >> "Amen."

  1126. >> Amen.
