  8. God.

  9. >> Praise God.

  10. I'm telling you, I'm

  11. I ain't been too many places in this

  12. life.

  13. >> I can tell you one place I've been.

  14. >> Come on.

  15. >> Bless his name.

  16. >> Amen.

  17. I just like his presence.

  18. >> Amen.

  19. >> I don't have to have nothing else. You

  20. say, "You mean you'll sit here in

  21. silence? If I feel him, I'll sit still

  22. for hours." Amen.

  23. >> Yes, sir.

  24. >> Hallelujah. Bless his name. Amen. I tell

  25. you, sinner, it'd be a good time to get

  26. saved. Amen.

  27. >> Amen.

  28. >> Hallelujah.

  29. >> Amen. Mark's Gospel, if you have a

  30. Bible. Amen. Mark's gospel.

  31. I don't want to hinder the spirit, but

  32. >> Amen.

  33. >> He called me to preach.

  34. >> Amen.

  35. >> And uh

  36. I'm going to preach.

  37. >> Mark's Gospel chapter 16. Praying about

  38. this service this morning. I be honest

  39. with you, I don't have to preach. I know

  40. that. I'm not not surprisful to say that

  41. this morning. I don't have to preach,

  42. but it's just what's on my heart. and

  43. been praying this week about the service

  44. today and uh just what the mind of the

  45. Lord what what he wanted for this

  46. service and I I believe this is where he

  47. wants us. I may strike out but I'm going

  48. to do my best to do the will of God

  49. >> and I'm going to be obedient to him. If

  50. you have a Bible and you found your

  51. place in Mark's Gospel chapter 16, I

  52. invite you to stand.

  53. I invite you to stand.

  54. Simple thought this morning. nothing

  55. nothing new to you, nothing extravagant.

  56. And I'm thankful we're we're familiar

  57. the resurrection

  58. >> events thereof. I was thinking this

  59. morning listening to brother Todd

  60. preach. Um you're not going to hear a

  61. better message than what he preached to

  62. us out there uh in Portico this morning.

  63. And I'm not going to try to follow that,

  64. but I am going to try to tell give you

  65. what the Lord gave me, what I feel like

  66. he has for us this morning. Mark's

  67. Gospel chapter 16, verse number one.

  68. The Bible says, "When the Sabbath was

  69. passed, Mary Magdalene and Mary the

  70. mother of James and Shalom had bought

  71. sweet spices that they might come and

  72. anoint him." Very early in the morning,

  73. the first day of the week, they came

  74. under the supplr at the rising of the

  75. sun. They said among themselves, "Who

  76. shall roll us away the stone from the

  77. door of the suppler?" When they looked,

  78. they saw that the stone was rolled away,

  79. for it was very great. And entering into

  80. the supplr, they saw a young man sitting

  81. on the right side, clothed in a long

  82. white garment, and they were afraid. And

  83. he saith unto them, "Be not afraid. You

  84. seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was

  85. crucified.

  86. He is risen."

  87. >> Amen.

  88. >> He is not here.

  89. Behold the place where they laid him.

  90. But go your way, tell his disciples and

  91. Peter that he goeth before you into

  92. Galilee. There shall ye see him as he

  93. said unto you. And they went out quickly

  94. and fled from the suppler. For they

  95. trembled and were amazed. Neither said

  96. they anything to any man, for they were

  97. afraid. Now, Father, I come before you

  98. this morning and I ask you humbly for

  99. your help. But I realize that I have

  100. nothing to say this morning, God, if you

  101. don't speak through me. And Lord, I

  102. pray, Father, for just a few minutes

  103. this morning, you would clothe me in my

  104. call and rid me of sin and all flesh.

  105. And God, I pray, Lord, that for a moment

  106. of time, God, that I would be able to

  107. disappear, Father, and the congregation

  108. will be able to see you. I ask you, God,

  109. please, would you grant it this morning?

  110. I pray for those that are here this

  111. morning and not saved. God, I pray today

  112. would be the day of salvation for them.

  113. And what I would hate to imagine,

  114. Father, that anybody would sit in a

  115. service and feel the presence of God the

  116. way we felt it this morning and get up

  117. and walk out lost, but I know souls are

  118. doing it each and every day across this

  119. country. And God, I pray, Father, that

  120. today would be the last day, Lord, a

  121. sinner stays lost today. God, I ask you

  122. would help us as we look at this text.

  123. And may we rejoice today because you are

  124. alive and you did get up out of that

  125. tomb. And I thank you for that today.

  126. Thank you, Father, that if it had been

  127. just me, you would have got up for me.

  128. And I love you for that this morning.

  129. And God, I ask, please help us this

  130. morning. We need you. We can't do it

  131. without you. Help us to receive with

  132. meekness the engrafted word. Open our

  133. eyes. We might behold wondrous things in

  134. thy law. And God, may we see no man save

  135. Jesus only. We'll give you glory because

  136. we ask it in Jesus' name. God's children

  137. said,

  138. >> "Thank you for standing. You can be

  139. seated this morning." I'm interested

  140. this morning in this text on a certain

  141. verse. I'm going to deal with the

  142. entirety of the text that I've read. But

  143. the thought that the Lord placed upon my

  144. heart, I find it there in verse number

  145. three where the Bible says they said

  146. among themselves, who shall roll us away

  147. the stone from the door of the

  148. separator. In verse four, the Bible

  149. says, "And when they looked, they saw

  150. that the stone was rolled away."

  151. >> Amen. And I want to preach on this

  152. thought for just a little while this

  153. morning with the help of the Lord. The

  154. empty tomb says it all.

  155. >> The empty tomb says it all. Now, I'll be

  156. honest with you this morning. I've never

  157. been to Israel. I've got some family

  158. here this morning that went and they

  159. were able to view what is assumed to be

  160. that tomb when they were there. And they

  161. would tell you this morning that it's

  162. empty. Amen. But I'll tell you this,

  163. regardless of the assumptions of man

  164. about which tomb it was or where it was,

  165. I can promise you without seeing it,

  166. amen, that it's empty. Amen. And I was

  167. thinking about this text this morning. I

  168. dealt last year on resurrection Sunday

  169. with Matthew's account of the

  170. resurrection. And the Lord put this in

  171. my heart earlier this week. And I

  172. studied it sometime really till really

  173. just this morning, real early. God began

  174. to put this message in my heart. And I I

  175. want to give you a few things by way of

  176. introduction this morning considering

  177. the context of the scripture. I notice

  178. in this text we are brought to uh the

  179. foot of the tomb. Here in the text we

  180. notice that the Sabbath has passed and

  181. depending on what you believe. I'm not

  182. going to argue with you. Nobody really

  183. knows what day Jesus was crucified on

  184. and whether he got up late Saturday

  185. evening or early Sunday morning. But I

  186. tell you this, I know that he got up.

  187. Amen. But when I come to this text, I

  188. note that the Sabbath is passed

  189. according to verse number one. And these

  190. characters here show up on the pages of

  191. scripture once again, and I'll say more

  192. about them in just a minute, but I I

  193. want us to picture with me what has

  194. happened. Now, you may be here this

  195. morning, and this may be the first time

  196. you've ever heard this story. I I don't

  197. want to take that for granted this

  198. morning. But when I come to this text,

  199. what is revealed to us is the

  200. resurrection of our Lord and the fact

  201. that they have came and found his empty

  202. tomb. And just a chapter prior in Mark

  203. chapter number 15, Jesus Christ was

  204. crucified by the hands of sinful men. He

  205. was hung upon that cross. AND YOU SAY,

  206. "PREACHER, WHY was he hung there?" He

  207. was hung there for your SIN AND FOR MY

  208. SIN. THE BIBLE SAYS that all have sinned

  209. and come short of the glory of God. AND

  210. BECAUSE OF YOUR SIN, you are separated

  211. from God. You are at enmity with God

  212. this morning. And you have NO

  213. OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP with

  214. him. But you see, God sent his son. And

  215. as the song says, they called him Jesus.

  216. And he lived his LIFE ON THIS EARTH,

  217. PERFECT, SINLESS, AND SPOTLESS. AMEN.

  218. HEY, IT'S ALL RIGHT. SOMEBODY CAN HELP

  219. ME PREACH THIS MORNING. PERFECT,

  220. SINLESS, and spotless. Hey, he never did

  221. a wrong thing. HE NEVER HAD A WRONG

  222. THOUGHT. HE NEVER HAD A BAD ATTITUDE.

  223. LET ME SAY THIS. FOR THE ENTIRETY OF HIS

  224. LIFE, from the time that HE WAS HERE ON

  225. THE EARTH UNTIL THE TIME THAT HE

  226. INCENDED, THERE WAS NEVER A SIN IN HIS

  227. MIND. THERE WAS NEVER A SIN IN HIS

  228. HEART. THERE WAS NEVER A SIN ON HIS

  229. LIPS. I SUBMIT TO YOU, HE WAS PERFECT.

  230. HE HAD NO SIN. HE DID NO SIN. AMEN. And

  231. in him was no sin. Amen. And in his

  232. perfection, HE CAME TO BE THE SACRIFICE.

  233. HE WENT TO CALVAR'S CROSS BEFORE IT WAS

  234. THE CROSS THAT WAS PROPHESIED OF THAT HE

  235. WOULD DIE AND HE WOULD BEAR THE SINS OF

  236. MANKIND. PAUL TOLD THE CORINTHIAN

  237. CHURCH, he said, "He hath made him TO BE

  238. SIN FOR US WHO KNEW NO SIN THAT WE MIGHT

  239. BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN

  240. HIM." AND BECAUSE OF YOUR SIN PROBLEM,

  241. HE HAD TO DIE. HIM BEING PERFECT, HE HAD

  242. TO GO TO CALVARY AND DIE FOR YOUR SINS.

  243. AND ON THAT CROSS, HE BLED AND SUFFERED.

  244. AND LET ME REMIND YOU THIS MORNING OR

  245. MAYBE MAKE YOU AWARE TODAY JESUS THEY

  246. COULDN'T KILL HIM. AMEN. IT WASN'T

  247. POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO TAKE HIS LIFE. HE

  248. SAID IN JOHN CHAPTER NUMBER 10 HE SAID I

  249. LAY MY LIFE DOWN. HE SAID MY FATHER

  250. LOVETH ME BECAUSE I LAY MY LIFE DOWN.

  251. AND HE SAID I HAVE POWER TO TAKE IT UP

  252. AGAIN. JESUS ON CALVAR'S CROSS WILLINGLY

  253. SUBMITTED HIS SPIRIT UNTO THE FATHER

  254. SURRENDERED HIS LIFE TO GOD AND GAVE UP

  255. THE GHOST. THE BIBLE SAYS, "AND ON

  256. CALVAR'S CROSS BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL,

  257. HE DIED THERE FOR YOUR SIN AND FOR MY

  258. SIN. AND I SUBMIT TO YOU TODAY, I STAND

  259. HERE FORGIVEN BECAUSE OF THE SACRIFICE

  260. OF JESUS CHRIST." AMEN.

  261. >> COME ON.

  262. >> You say, "Preacher, what does that mean

  263. for me?" Well, I submit to you today

  264. that if you've never known Jesus, if

  265. you've never trusted Christ, if you've

  266. never come to him and asked HIM TO

  267. FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR SINS AND SAVE YOUR

  268. SOUL, you are in a lost, ruined

  269. condition this morning.

  270. >> But you see, you say, "Preacher, was his

  271. death enough?" Well, let me say this.

  272. His death was the propitiation for your

  273. sin.

  274. >> You're right. Amen.

  275. >> But I want you want you to see this

  276. morning that Christ is the gospel

  277. message is the death, the burial,

  278. >> and the resurrection.

  279. >> The Bible says Peter or Paul said it

  280. this way. He was delivered for our

  281. offenses and raised for our

  282. justification this morning. And the

  283. preacher preached on it this morning.

  284. But let me say this to you. If he did

  285. not get up out OF THE GRAVE, THAT WOULD

  286. mean that he was not God. IF HE DID NOT

  287. RISE UP FROM THE GRAVE, IT WOULD MEAN

  288. THAT GOD WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE

  289. SACRIFICE OF HIS SON. BUT LET ME SAY

  290. THIS, BECAUSE HE GOT UP AND BECAUSE HE

  291. IS ALIVE TODAY, GOD IS SATISFIED AND THE

  292. SON IS VINDICATED. HE IS THE SON OF GOD,

  293. IN SPITE OF WHAT THE PHARISEES SAID, IN

  294. SPITE OF WHAT THE WORLD SAYS, HE IS THE

  295. VERY DARLING SON OF GOD. AMEN.

  296. >> And his resurrection vindicates that

  297. this morning. And you say, "Preacher,

  298. well, you said the empty tomb says it

  299. all." And it does this morning.

  300. >> When I think about a gravestone,

  301. often times on that epitap, people will

  302. put their motives for life or a

  303. description of the person that was in

  304. there. Well, I submit to you, there was

  305. never anything written on that empty

  306. tomb.

  307. >> You're right.

  308. >> But there was something in front of it

  309. that signified

  310. >> everything that Jesus was going to do

  311. and everything that he did.

  312. >> Come on.

  313. >> And notice this in the text this

  314. morning. And I got to give you this and

  315. get to the message this morning. We see

  316. these ladies here in the text. You note

  317. their devotion. Of course, this is Mary

  318. Magdalene here in the text. Jesus as

  319. earlier in his ministry cast seven

  320. devils out of her. And Mary spent her

  321. life following Jesus after that as one

  322. of his uh close followers and Mary the

  323. mother of James the less and so here in

  324. the text. These three ladies have come

  325. and other scriptures say that there were

  326. more with them. BUT I NOTICED THEIR

  327. DEVOTION in the text. And you say, "What

  328. do you mean?" Well, these ladies here,

  329. according to Matthew or Mark 15 and

  330. verse NUMBER 40, THEY SAW HIS DEATH.

  331. LOOK WHAT YOUR BIBLE SAYS. There were

  332. also women looking on a far off,

  333. speaking of the time when Jesus was

  334. hanging on the cross. They were

  335. beholding him there looking at Calvary

  336. as Jesus hung there. AND NOT ONLY THEY

  337. SAW HIS DEATH, but they also saw his

  338. burial. According to ma mark chapter

  339. number 15 and verse number 46 Joseph of

  340. Arythea bought fine linen took him off

  341. the cross wrapped him in that linen laid

  342. him in that suppler. In verse 47 the

  343. Bible says and Mary Magdalene and Mary

  344. the mother OF JOSEPH BEHELD WHERE HE WAS

  345. LAID. And so these women saw his death

  346. but they also saw his burial. And some

  347. three days later we come to this chapter

  348. in chapter number 16. And you say

  349. preacher what are you talking about? I'm

  350. saying they were devoted to him. Amen.

  351. They were coming here in the tomb. And

  352. the Bible says they'd bought spices and

  353. they'd spent their money to come and

  354. anoint the body of the Lord Jesus. And

  355. let me say this. I've read some writers

  356. that said that it was a necessity that

  357. they do this. But I really believe that

  358. Joseph, he was a wealthy man, a rich

  359. man. And I believe he had everything

  360. that he needed when he wrapped that body

  361. up. I BELIEVE THEY WERE COMING OUT OF

  362. their own willingness because THEY LOVED

  363. THE LORD. AMEN. AND THEY wanted to honor

  364. him. AMEN. AND LET ME JUST SAY THIS

  365. BEFORE I GO ANY FURTHER this morning.

  366. The people that love God the most are

  367. the ones that'll go on and do for him

  368. when it seems like he's done nothing for

  369. them.

  370. >> You're right.

  371. >> Oh friend, you didn't hear what I just

  372. said.

  373. >> Yeah. Come on, preacher.

  374. >> THE PEOPLE THAT LOVE GOD THE MOST. I'M

  375. SAYING, FRIEND, THEY'LL GO ON AND SERVE

  376. GOD WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE THEIR LIFE'S

  377. FALLING APART AROUND THEM. THESE WOMEN

  378. HAD LOST THE ONLY MAN THAT HAD EVER

  379. GIVEN THEM HOPE AND LIFE. I'M SAYING,

  380. FRIEND, JESUS HAD DIED BEFORE THEIR

  381. EYES. AND YOU GOT TO REMEMBER IN THEIR

  382. MIND'S EYE, HE'S STILL DEAD,

  383. >> RIGHT?

  384. >> But you know what they did? They come

  385. and anoint to anoint him again.

  386. >> They were devoted to him. Amen. I see

  387. not only their devotion. You see their

  388. devotion in their treasure and in their

  389. time that they come. I see not only

  390. their devotion in the text, but I notice

  391. their decision. Look what the Bible says

  392. in verse two. And very early in the

  393. morning, the first day of the week, they

  394. came under the suppler at the rising of

  395. the sun. And so these ladies, no doubt

  396. in my mind, Jesus has never left their

  397. mind from the time that he was on the

  398. cross. But of course, this, the Bible

  399. says that very early in the morning on

  400. that Sunday morning, they come. And so

  401. obviously that decision that they made

  402. to come early was made the night before.

  403. >> You're right.

  404. >> And let me put this out there to you.

  405. >> Come on.

  406. >> Sunday morning churches decided on

  407. Saturday night.

  408. >> That's right. Amen.

  409. >> Amen. Don't die on me right there. Amen.

  410. Sunday morning church is decided on

  411. Saturday night. They're devoted to him.

  412. Their decision is to come to him. And

  413. you notice in the text, the Bible says

  414. that they came under the septic at the

  415. rising of the sun. Of course, we know

  416. Jesus has done got up out of the grave.

  417. But I DON'T WANT TO PREACH ON ALL THAT.

  418. I WANT TO GIVE YOU this and then we'll

  419. get to the message this morning. Notice

  420. not only their devotion and their

  421. decision, but notice their declaration

  422. in verse three. And they said among

  423. themselves, "Who shall roll us away the

  424. stone from the door of the supplr?" Now,

  425. when you look at this text, you got to

  426. remember something here. This supplr

  427. that they've placed Jesus in. Of course,

  428. it was a bought tomb. Joseph of Arythe

  429. had purchased this for himself. No

  430. doubt. And so, Jesus was here placed in

  431. a borrowed tomb. According to Matthew's

  432. gospel, the Bible says that the chief

  433. priests, he commanded those soldiers to

  434. go and seal that thing,

  435. >> right?

  436. >> To go put the seal on it and to put a

  437. watch there FOR THREE DAYS BECAUSE they

  438. remembered what Jesus said.

  439. >> They said that deceiver said in three

  440. days he's going to get up again. AND SO

  441. YOU STAY THREE DAYS TO make sure that

  442. his disciples don't come and take him

  443. out because they said the last mistake

  444. WILL BE WORSE THAN THE first if we allow

  445. him to come and take him out. But boy,

  446. aren't you thankful that it didn't

  447. matter? Amen. THEM WATCHING THE DOOR,

  448. JESUS DIDN'T HAVE TO COME through the

  449. door. Amen. I'm getting ahead of myself

  450. butchering this outline. But the truth

  451. is this morning, you understand their

  452. declaration is BECAUSE THEY SAW A

  453. problem that they couldn't handle.

  454. >> You're right.

  455. >> And isn't that the way it is? You think

  456. about what Jesus is going through. Jesus

  457. has bore the sin weight of the human

  458. race. He's descended. Amen. He's

  459. ascended the lower parts of the earth.

  460. He's doing the work of God. He's going

  461. to ascend. He's doing the eternal work.

  462. >> And isn't it interesting that these

  463. weighties, they're troubled about that

  464. work that's physical.

  465. >> That's right.

  466. >> You see, they saw a problem that was

  467. unfixable and all the while Jesus was

  468. doing things they couldn't even

  469. understand.

  470. >> Right?

  471. >> Let me say this to you this morning.

  472. Okay? Whatever problem you got,

  473. >> come on.

  474. >> You just know Jesus has fixed more and

  475. is fixing more right now than your

  476. problem will ever be. Amen.

  477. their their declaration in the text.

  478. What does the Bible say? They know the

  479. size of the stone. Look what the Bible

  480. says. Who shall roll us away the stone

  481. from the door of the settler. Now,

  482. history tells us this stone's probably

  483. some five to six feet high and and a

  484. foot thick. And so, it was something not

  485. really just a job of one man, but it was

  486. a job of a few men to roll this stone

  487. away. And so, knowing the size of the

  488. stone and knowing their strength was

  489. small, they make this statement. And let

  490. me say this to YOU THIS MORNING. YOU MAY

  491. LOOK AT YOUR PROBLEM THIS MORNING and

  492. say that it's too large. Recognizing the

  493. fact that the problem IS BIG AND YOUR

  494. STRENGTH IS SMALL. But just remember,

  495. God don't have to move the problem out

  496. of the way.

  497. >> You're right.

  498. >> He didn't have to move the stone to get

  499. out.

  500. >> Come on, preacher.

  501. >> He had to move the stone so they could

  502. look in. That's

  503. >> right.

  504. >> God don't have to fix your problem to

  505. help you. Amen.

  506. >> He He just wants you to allow him to to

  507. be the fix.

  508. >> That's right.

  509. >> Amen. He don't have to fix the problem.

  510. Amen. I'm getting off my message this

  511. morning. I don't know where you at this

  512. morning. You need to let God help you.

  513. Amen.

  514. >> Notice this. All right. I noticed not

  515. only their declaration, notice their

  516. discovery. They discover a removed stone

  517. in the text. Verse number four. When

  518. they looked, they saw that the stone was

  519. rolled away for it was very great.

  520. Speaking of the size of it, they saw not

  521. only a removed stone, but there's a

  522. revealed servant in the text. This young

  523. man, no doubt the angel of the Lord

  524. according to Matthew's gospel is sitting

  525. there in the right side, this angel

  526. clothed in a long white garment. They

  527. were afrighted and they not only saw the

  528. removed stone and revealed servant, but

  529. soon they would see the risen savior.

  530. And you say, "Preacher, what does all

  531. that mean?" Well, it's telling us this

  532. morning that the empty tomb had a

  533. message for them. That's

  534. >> right.

  535. >> Let me say this. The empty tomb has a

  536. message for you this morning. That's

  537. >> right.

  538. >> You pray for me. All right.

  539. You say, "What's the message?" Well, I

  540. think about that stone this morning. Of

  541. course, to know that the tomb was empty.

  542. The stone had to be removed. And we've

  543. already said it. It was a sizable stone.

  544. And not only it was sizable, but it was

  545. sealed. It had THAT SEAL PLACED UPON IT.

  546. And in spite of its size and in spite of

  547. its seal, this angel according to

  548. Matthew's gospel comes and shoves this

  549. stone out of the way and gets it out of

  550. the way so that all those that would

  551. come would be able to look in there and

  552. see the emptiness of this tomb.

  553. >> And in light of this servant, the the

  554. the work that he does in removing the

  555. stone, you see, he has to do something

  556. else. There's another stone that's in

  557. the way. You say, "What is that?" Well,

  558. it's the blindness of their lack of

  559. faith. That's

  560. >> right. You see, when they looked in

  561. there, you know what they saw? They saw

  562. emptiness,

  563. >> right?

  564. >> They didn't see what was there.

  565. >> Yeah. Come on.

  566. >> Amen. You say, "Preacher, WHAT ARE YOU

  567. SAYING?" I'M SAYING THAT napkin that was

  568. folded.

  569. >> Come on.

  570. >> Them grave clothes that were laying in

  571. there JUST LIKE OLD FRIEND, HE DIDN'T HE

  572. DIDN'T COME out of there. Let me This

  573. pet peeve of mine. Okay. All right. Let

  574. me just stop here for a minute. Okay.

  575. People talk about and I I'm not going to

  576. fall out if you believe this. Okay. But

  577. people talk about Jesus holded that

  578. napkin and you know that was a sign

  579. Jewish culture that you know he wasn't

  580. done you know Jewish culture table

  581. culture you know if he wasn't done with

  582. his meal he would fold his napkin to let

  583. them know that he was coming back. That

  584. preaches good. All right. That ain't

  585. what the text's talking about.

  586. >> Come on.

  587. >> When he sees the napkin folded, here's

  588. what he sees. He sees that napkin as it

  589. was wrapped on his head. That's

  590. >> right.

  591. >> And you know what? When Jesus come alive

  592. again, you know what he did? That napkin

  593. just fell off

  594. >> in the same shape that it was wrapped

  595. around his head.

  596. >> You're right.

  597. >> And you know what? All them garments, he

  598. was wrapped in all them grave clothes.

  599. You know what they did? They just laid

  600. down.

  601. >> That's right.

  602. >> Come on.

  603. >> You say, "How is that?" Well, because

  604. the stone didn't have to be moved FOR

  605. HIM TO GET OUT. JESUS DIDN'T HAVE TO

  606. UNWIND HIMSELF. JESUS DIDN'T HAVE TO

  607. TAKE THE HEAD CLOTHES OFF. HE DIDN'T

  608. HAVE TO MOVE THE STONE OUT OF THE WAY.

  609. BUT OH FRIEND, THE MOMENT HE CAME ALIVE.

  610. HE WASN'T JUST A MAN ANYMORE, BUT HE WAS

  611. THE EXALTED LAMB OF GOD IN A NEW BODY,

  612. HE'S THE FIRST BEGOTTEN OF THE DEAD. AND

  613. FRIEND, HE DIDN'T HAVE TO MOVE A DOOR.

  614. BUT THANK GOD, HE JUST APPEARED TO HIM

  615. DOWN THE ROAD. HE DIDN'T HAVE TO WALK NO

  616. MORE. AMEN. HALLELUJAH. YOU SAY,

  617. "PREACHER, WHY DOES THAT HELP YOU?" CUZ

  618. HE'S THE FIRSTBORN. I'M GOING TO HAVE

  619. THAT SAME BODY ONE OF THESE DAYS.

  620. >> Jesus gets up and comes out of there.

  621. You say, "Preacher, what's the message

  622. of the empty tomb? Three things and I'm

  623. done." You see, this tomb was left there

  624. to show some things. And somewhere or

  625. another, this tomb's still empty. That's

  626. >> right.

  627. >> Amen. It's still empty. And I want to

  628. give you this, and I'm done this

  629. morning. I've already preached it, but

  630. I'm going to give it to you anyway. I'd

  631. say this. Number one, the message of the

  632. empty tomb is that his, you see, his

  633. decided death. You say, "What do you

  634. mean?" Well, notice the text. The angel

  635. says to these ladies here, the Bible

  636. says that they see him. He's in a long

  637. white garment. They were afraid. Verse

  638. six, he saith unto them, "Be not afraid.

  639. You seek Jesus of Nazareth." What those

  640. next three words? Which was crucified.

  641. You see in this text what it reveals.

  642. You say, "Well, preacher, they crucified

  643. him and because of his death, BECAUSE OF

  644. HIM HANGING ON THAT cross and all the

  645. loss of blood." I've heard the

  646. scientific explanations and all of this.

  647. The truth is it's more of a miracle that

  648. Jesus stayed alive as long as he did.

  649. AMEN. THAN THE FACT THAT HE DIED THERE.

  650. >> YOU'RE RIGHT.

  651. >> HE THEY COULDN'T TAKE his life.

  652. >> You're right.

  653. >> THEY COULDN'T TAKE IT FROM HIM. WHAT I'M

  654. SAYING IS HIS DEATH WAS A DECISION THAT

  655. HE MADE.

  656. >> AMEN. FRIEND, HE SAID IN JOHN CHAPTER

  657. NUMBER 12, EXCEPT A CORN OF WHEAT FALL

  658. INTO THE GROUND AND DIE, IT ABIDETH

  659. ALONE. BUT WHAT DID HE SAY? BUT if it

  660. die, it bringeth FORTH MUCH FRUIT. YOU

  661. KNOW WHAT? SOMEBODY HAD TO PLANT THAT

  662. CORNER WHEAT.

  663. >> GOD ON CALVAR'S CROSS, THEM SOLDIERS

  664. DIDN'T HANG HIM THERE. GOD PUT HIM

  665. THERE. AMEN. AND ON CALVARY, HE LAID HIS

  666. LIFE DOWN, SHED HIS BLOOD. THAT EMPTY

  667. TOMB SAID THERE was a MAN THAT DECIDED

  668. TO DIE. YOU SAY, "HOW IS THAT,

  669. PREACHER?" BECAUSE THE SAME WAY THAT HE

  670. DECIDED TO DIE, HE DECIDED TO GET UP.

  671. AND THAT EMPTY TOMB WAS A TESTIMONY TO

  672. ALL THAT WERE AROUND THAT JESUS POWER

  673. WAS MORE THAN DEATH. THAT JESUS POWER

  674. WAS MORE THAN GRAVE. JESUS POWER WAS

  675. MORE THAN THE DEVIL. HE TOOK THE KEYS.

  676. HE DEFEATED DEATH, HELL, AND THE GRAVE.

  677. AND LET ME SAY THIS TO YOU, FRIEND THIS

  678. MORNING. IF HE CAN DIE HIMSELF AND GET

  679. UP HIMSELF, DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT HE

  680. can't help you?

  681. >> Amen.

  682. >> Come on, preach.

  683. >> It's a testimony of his decided death.

  684. Listen to what Jesus said. John chapter

  685. number 10. the reference to these verses

  686. that I quoted earlier. Listen to what he

  687. says. God bless you, brother. John 10

    John 10:17

  688. verse 17. Therefore doth my father love

  689. me because I lay down my life. Notice

  690. that. That I might take it again. No man

  691. taketh it from me, but I lay it down of

  692. myself. I have power to lay it down and

  693. I have power to take it again. This

  694. commandment have I received of my

  695. father. The fact that that tomb is empty

  696. today testifies that as Jesus decided to

  697. die, he decided to get up.

  698. >> Amen.

  699. >> Notice this. Second of all, and I'm

  700. moving. I'll be done this morning. I'll

  701. say this. Not only we see in the text,

  702. his decided death, but we see his death

  703. was defeated.

  704. >> Right.

  705. >> Oh, friend.

  706. >> Come on.

  707. >> YOU SAY YOU DONE PREACHED IT. WELL, I'M

  708. GOING TO PREACH IT AGAIN. AMEN. Listen

  709. to what Peter said in Acts chapter

  710. number two. And I love the way he puts

  711. it. He was preaching to those men there

  712. at Pentecost and they were witnessing to

  713. the truth that he told. Listen to what

  714. he says. Acts two and verse number 24.

  715. He says this. Whom God hath raised up.

  716. Listen to this now. Having loosed the

  717. pains of death because it was not

  718. possible that he should be holding of

  719. it.

  720. >> Right.

  721. >> The son of God's power was so much they

  722. couldn't keep him down.

  723. >> You're right.

  724. >> And you know what? That same power is in

  725. you.

  726. >> Right. Bible says, "Now in him that's

  727. able to do exceedingly abundantly above

  728. all that we ask or think according to

  729. the power that's right

  730. >> that workketh in us." You know what that

  731. is? That's resurrection power.

  732. >> Amen.

  733. >> It's in you if you're saved this

  734. morning.

  735. >> Amen.

  736. >> He is able to save you. And as the verse

  737. says in 1 Corinthians 15, the text says,

  738. "Oh death, where is thy stain? Oh grave,

  739. where is thy victory? The strength of

  740. death is sin. The strength of law sin is

  741. law." And let me say this. He said,

  742. "Thanks be unto God, which through

  743. Christ Jesus. He's given us the

  744. victory." Amen. We have victory. His

  745. death is defeated. And therefore, death

  746. in our life can be defeated. YOU SAY,

  747. "WHAT IS THAT?" IT'S THE SIN NATURE.

  748. IT'S THAT OLD DEAD MAN INSIDE. IF ANY

  749. MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE'S A NEW CREATURE.

  750. AMEN.

  751. >> Notice this. And this is where I really

  752. want to get to this morning. All right.

  753. You say, "What do you What else have you

  754. got to say?" I got a whole lot I want to

  755. say. You need to stay with me. All

  756. right.

  757. I see his decided death, the witness of

  758. the tomb. I see his death defeated is a

  759. witness of the tomb. But you know, this

  760. is the one we we struggle with. I think

  761. it's what we don't think about too

  762. often. You see, when Jesus got up, he

  763. didn't stay in the tombs.

  764. >> Yeah. Right.

  765. >> Notice the text.

  766. The Bible says in Mark 16, verse number

  767. six, the angel says, "You seek Jesus of

  768. Nazareth, which was crucified. He is

  769. risen. Hallelujah.

  770. >> Amen.

  771. >> But notice the next four words.

  772. >> He is not here.

  773. >> Amen. That's right.

  774. >> It declares the empty tomb declares his

  775. decided death. It clares declares his

  776. death was defeated. But I'll say this,

  777. it declares his departure from the dead.

  778. >> Yeah.

  779. >> You say, "What is that?" Well, you know

  780. what? While he was in that tomb, you

  781. know what? He was surrounded by

  782. all them dead people.

  783. You know, when I thought about this

  784. text, I really didn't think about it. I

  785. never thought about it in this way

  786. before, and I it may not be right, but

  787. let me say this. All right? There was a

  788. lot of dead people buried around him.

  789. Now, the Bible says there were tombs

  790. that were open, all of that at Calvary.

  791. We know that. But here's what I'll tell

  792. you. He's the only one that got up that

  793. day.

  794. >> You're right.

  795. >> You say, "What do you mean by that?"

  796. Well, when he got up, he didn't stay in

  797. the tombs.

  798. >> He didn't stay in the place of the dead.

  799. And you say, "What does that represent?"

  800. Well, the death that dead place

  801. represents sin,

  802. >> right?

  803. >> All right. The Bible says when that

  804. demoniac of Gdero there, you remember

  805. the reference? The Bible says that he

  806. was always in the where the tombs. He

  807. was ALWAYS WALKING ABOUT IN THEM DEAD

  808. PLACES. And what was the Bible say about

  809. him? He had a legion. He had a devil in

  810. him. And he was unclothed. Amen. He was

  811. crying, running about, cutting himself

  812. with stones in that DEAD PLACE. LET ME

  813. SAY THIS. JESUS HAD TO BE BURIED because

  814. he had to become sin for you and I.

  815. Well, let me SAY THIS. WHEN HE GOT UP,

  816. HE DIDN'T STAY AROUND dead things. LET

  817. ME SAY THIS. HE DIDN'T STAY IN THAT

  818. BURIED PLACE, BUT YOU KNOW WHERE HE

  819. WENT? HE WENT TO HEAVEN. AMEN. THAT'S

  820. THE LAND OF THE LIVING. HE LEFT THE LAND

  821. OF THE DYING to go into the land of the

  822. living. AND THIS IS WHAT I'LL NEVER

  823. UNDERSTAND ABOUT PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY'RE

  824. SAVED. THEY WANT TO LIVE among the dead

  825. all the time. You're

  826. >> right.

  827. You say, "Preacher, well, I've got to

  828. live my life." Yeah, I understand that.

  829. Let me say this. Jesus didn't stay in

  830. the tomb. That's

  831. >> right.

  832. >> He departed from the dead. Why did he

  833. depart from the dead? Because it was

  834. God's plan.

  835. >> Colossians chapter 1, verse number 18.

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  836. Listen to what Paul says to the church.

  837. I ain't got them tabs in my Bible like

  838. y'all do to cheat. Amen. Colossians

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  839. chapter 1, verse number 18.

  840. Paul said, "He is the head of the body,

  841. the church, who is the beginning, the

  842. firstborn from the dead, that in all

  843. things he might have the preeminence."

  844. When Jesus addresses John in the book of

  845. Revelation, chapter number one and verse

  846. number five, that's the way he labels

  847. himself, the firstborn from the dead.

  848. Now, let me say this to you this

  849. morning. Literally, this this interprets

  850. to us today that Jesus when he got up

  851. out of that grave, he would never more

  852. die. Amen. He was to live eternally. He

  853. died so that we might live. You and I

  854. will never have to die spiritually

  855. because he died on Calvar's cross. And

  856. he left the tombs that day never more to

  857. enter that place again. I'll tell you

  858. the the time that he'll come back. He'll

  859. not come back to the earth, but he'll

  860. come in the clouds. And the Bible says

  861. them tombs are going to open.

  862. >> And you know what? The dead in Christ

  863. are going to rise first. Amen. All them

  864. tombs. One of these days, we're getting

  865. out of the tombs, too. Somebody say,

  866. "Amen."

  867. Let me say this in an application sense

  868. this morning. You say, "Well, Jesus was

  869. perfect." But you know what? He didn't

  870. stay in the place where he got raised

  871. from.

  872. Say, "What do you mean?"

  873. Salvation is like that resurrection.

  874. >> That's right.

  875. >> Bible says we're buried with him

  876. likeness of his death, raised with him

  877. likeness of his resurrection. Amen.

  878. That's salvation.

  879. >> That's right.

  880. >> It's redemption, regeneration.

  881. Let me say this to you this morning.

  882. Jesus didn't stay in the tombs because

  883. he was never destined to stay there.

  884. That's

  885. >> right.

  886. >> But so many saved people, they got

  887. raised and got lifted out. But you know

  888. what? They hanging around the tomb.

  889. >> You're right. Come on.

  890. >> Come on, preach.

  891. >> They're hanging around all them dead

  892. things.

  893. >> Let me say this to you this morning.

  894. This world has nothing to offer you.

  895. >> Amen.

  896. >> You say, "Preacher, how does that fit

  897. with resurrection?" And they was just

  898. singing about it.

  899. >> Come on.

  900. >> All that alcohol,

  901. >> all them drugs,

  902. >> all that sensual sexual living that

  903. you're doing outside of marriage.

  904. >> Come on.

  905. >> That's dead things.

  906. >> Preach.

  907. >> That's what dead people do.

  908. >> You say, "Well, preacher, what can I

  909. do?" Well, if you're saved this morning,

  910. you need to get out of the tombs,

  911. >> right?

  912. >> The tomb testifies

  913. Jesus departed the dead.

  914. You say, "What's that for me?" It's

  915. sanctification is what it is.

  916. >> Amen.

  917. >> Jesus got up so you could be like him.

  918. >> Yes.

  919. >> And I want to ask you this question.

  920. Every heads bowed and every eyes closed

  921. this morning. You say, "Preacher,

  922. there was a time in my life where I made

  923. a profession.

  924. I went through the motions.

  925. But preacher, I've never really been

  926. able to shake sin in my life. I've

  927. always just done what I wanted to do.

  928. Never felt any remorse for it.

  929. You know, that's that that just shows

  930. you this morning that you've never

  931. really known Jesus.

  932. And I got to ask you today, if he were

  933. to come right now, would you go with

  934. him?

  935. Say, "Preacher, I don't know if I died

  936. right now that I'd go to heaven.

  937. There's nobody looking around with me.

  938. Hey, I want to ask you, would you be

  939. honest? So, preacher, I'm not saved.

  940. Would you pray for me? Just slip your

  941. hand up and I'll pray for you this

  942. morning.

  943. Preacher, I don't know the Lord.

  944. Hey, God knows your heart this morning.

  945. He knows where you're at. You're not

  946. fooling him.

  947. Preacher, would you pray for me? I'm not

  948. saved. Anybody just slip your hand up

  949. and I'll pray for you.

  950. Let me ask you this. Say, "Preacher, I'm

  951. saved.

  952. I'm saved."

  953. Preacher, there's a lot of dead things

  954. in my life.

  955. You be honest. Yeah. And God sees that.

  956. God sees that. God sees those hands. Let

  957. me let me let me say this to you this

  958. morning.

  959. The children of God never meant to live

  960. that way.

  961. It's a very loose application this

  962. morning, but the truth is still the

  963. same. When Jesus got up, he didn't stay

  964. in the grave.

  965. He didn't hang around cuz that wasn't

  966. where he was supposed to be. But you

  967. know what he did? He went down to where

  968. a group of people were gathered

  969. together. And you know what he did? He

  970. showed up in the midst of them, revealed

  971. himself to them,

  972. said, "I'm risen."

  973. Bible says, "Forsake not the assembling

  974. of yourselves together."

  975. Truth is, you're probably not here most

  976. of the time because you don't want to

  977. be.

  978. That's an evidence of not knowing

  979. Christ. I tell you, if you know Christ,
