  9. Genesis chapter number six. Tonight, if

  10. you have a Bible, Genesis chapter number

  11. 6. I do appreciate you being here

  12. tonight. When you find your place, if

  13. you would stand on a river to the

  14. reading of God's eternal word, Genesis

    Genesis 6 chapter mention

  15. chapter 6. And I do appreciate you being

  16. in the service this evening. It's good

  17. to have missionary brother here with us

  18. tonight from Calvary Baptist Church and

  19. King and brother TJ Tilly. And good to

  20. have him here with us in the service

  21. tonight. And you go by and greet him as

  22. you go out. Brother, I appreciate you

  23. being with us tonight. and uh appreciate

  24. our missionaries. Man, I thankful I'm

  25. thankful for how God has blessed our

  26. missions program here at the church. And

  27. I tell you this, if we're not reaching

  28. souls, amen, we're not fulfilling the

  29. great commission and the purpose of the

  30. church. Amen. And it wasn't the church

  31. was not built so we could sit around and

  32. look at one another, but it was built so

  33. we could reach out. Amen. And I do

  34. appreciate Christ uh in the ministry

  35. that he has given unto us, entrusted to

  36. us these last days. And I want to deal

  37. Genesis chapter number six tonight um

  38. with this subject. We're going to get

  39. over into the passage concerning Noah in

  40. the coming weeks, but I got to deal with

  41. this next text here in Genesis 6. What's

  42. God put on my heart today? And so you

  43. pray for us that the Lord will help us.

  44. Let's look verse number one of Genesis

  45. chapter number six this evening. The

  46. Bible says, "And it came to pass when

  47. men began to multiply on the face of the

  48. earth, and daughters were born unto

  49. them, that the sons of God saw the

  50. daughters of men that they were fair,

  51. and they took them wives of all which

  52. they chose." And the Lord said, "My

  53. spirit shall not always strive with man,

  54. for that he also is flesh, yet his days

  55. shall be in 120 years." And the Bible

  56. says there were giants in the earth in

  57. those days. And also after that, when

  58. the sons of God came in unto the

  59. daughters of men, and they bare children

  60. to them, the same became mighty men

  61. which were of old, men of renown. And

  62. God saw that the wickedness of man was

  63. great in the earth, and that every

  64. imagination of the thoughts of his heart

  65. was only evil continually. And it

  66. repented the Lord, that he had made man

  67. on the earth, and it grieved him at his

  68. heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy

  69. man whom I have created from the face of

  70. the earth, both man and beast, and the

  71. creeping thing, and the fowls of the

  72. air, for it repenteth me that I have

  73. made them. But notice verse number

  74. eight. Your Bible says, "But Noah found

  75. grace in the eyes of the Lord."

  76. >> Amen. And when I read this text this

  77. afternoon, I've been reading this text

  78. coming up to uh this message here,

  79. preparing for this particular text. And

  80. this is a very controversial passage of

  81. scripture. And I want to do my best

  82. tonight to expound it the best that I

  83. can. But this is what I know tonight.

  84. I'm thankful that in the if the entire

  85. world goes against and go and walks away

  86. from what we believe, if the entire

  87. church goes apostate and God only leaves

  88. just a handful of us, this is what I

  89. know. His grace will still be sufficient

  90. for us. Amen. I'll tell you, I don't

  91. know how many million people were on the

  92. earth in the day of Noah, but I'll tell

  93. you this, it was his family and him

  94. alone, them alone, that got out on that

  95. flood. Amen. Got out in that boat. And

  96. I'll tell you this, we're going to make

  97. it. Amen. We are going to make it. And I

  98. bless his name for that tonight. Let's

  99. pray and ask the Lord to help us. And

  100. then I'll share the thought with you.

  101. Father, thank you for allowing us to be

  102. in the house of God tonight. Thank you

  103. for the privilege that we have to pray.

  104. And Lord, I thank you God for the fact

  105. as brother Chubby saying tonight, God,

  106. that that tomb is empty and that you are

  107. gone. And Lord, I bless your name for

  108. that. Lord, there is an empty tomb in

  109. Jerusalem today, Father, because you're

  110. not there. You're in heaven where you

  111. say you ever live to make intercession

  112. for us. And so God, we come to you,

  113. Father. We come boldly before the throne

  114. that we may obtain mercy and find grace

  115. to help. Lord, this is a time of need.

  116. And I pray, God, tonight that you would

  117. exalt yourself tonight. get glory and

  118. honor unto your name. Do that which only

  119. you could do. And God, I pray, Father,

  120. that we'll see no man save Jesus only.

  121. And God, I pray tonight, Father, that

  122. everything that's said and done be

  123. pleasing to you. Lord, we sure love you.

  124. Save the sinner near his tail tonight.

  125. Do a work, Father, that it'll last for

  126. time and for eternity. And we'll give

  127. you thanks for it cause we ask it in

  128. Jesus name. You can be seated tonight.

  129. Amen. And amen. This text that I've read

  130. to you tonight, I've already mentioned

  131. that it is a controversial passage, but

  132. I'll say this. It's in your Bible. Amen.

  133. And so, I'm commanded. The Bible says

  134. we're to preach the full counsel of the

  135. word of God. And so, I'm going to preach

  136. it to you tonight. Amen. And I want to

  137. say this on the outset tonight. If

  138. you're a Bible student, I don't know

  139. which way that you lean concerning this

  140. passage. I'll be honest with you. Some

  141. days I lean one way, some days I lean

  142. another. But I'll tell you this, it's

  143. still truth that's applicable and

  144. beneficial for our daily life this

  145. evening. And so I want to give you a few

  146. things by way of introduction tonight.

  147. And then I will give you the thought

  148. this evening. Of course, we notice here

  149. in chapter number five that Noah is

  150. mentioned here as the last son of that

  151. 10 generation span from Adam in the text

  152. and his three children, Shim, Ham, and

  153. Japheth are spoken of in verse number

  154. 32. And then it leads in to chapter

  155. number six. And out of those 10

  156. generations would proceed the godly line

  157. that would come out underneath Adam. And

  158. I remind you that God, he gave them Seth

  159. because Abel had died. And no doubt Eve

  160. in her mind thought that it was all over

  161. when Abel died. But I'm thankful that

  162. God wasn't done. Amen. And God was not

  163. finished. She gave himself that

  164. substitute to be the one that would

  165. bring about the seed of the Lord Jesus

  166. Christ. And so we notice in this text

  167. here, the Bible says, "And it came to

  168. pass." And so here it's a description of

  169. the age of that antidoluvven period

  170. here. And it's coming to a close what we

  171. know about Genesis chapter number six.

  172. It introduces to you and I the flood of

  173. the ungodly, the day that God would

  174. judge the earth with water. And I notice

  175. a few things in this text. And I thought

  176. this was interesting when I was studying

  177. this because it amazes me that what we

  178. find the sin that's mentioned in this

  179. text is not even the sin of our day so

  180. to speak. But I I want you to notice

  181. just a few things. I want to get ahead

  182. of myself here. Notice I want you to

  183. note first of all verse number one in

  184. Genesis 6 that there are the

  185. multiplication of men upon the earth.

  186. You notice it simply from the verse. The

  187. Bible says, "And it came to pass when

  188. men began to multiply on the face of the

  189. earth and daughters were born unto

  190. them." And so what this is, you say,

  191. "Preacher, well that was the blessing of

  192. God." And you're exactly right. God told

  193. Adam and Eve, what did he tell them? He

  194. said, "Be fruitful and multiply and

  195. what? Replenish the earth." And so, you

  196. know what they did? They did just that.

  197. They began to be fruitful in their

  198. marriage. And out of that, the nations

  199. of the earth were filled with men. And

  200. this is indeed a blessing from the Lord.

  201. But you understand me many times the

  202. blessing because of the flesh, the

  203. carnality of men, God's blessing turns

  204. in to wickedness.

  205. >> Right?

  206. >> And you notice in the multiplication of

  207. men here in the text, you notice second

  208. of all that there's mixed marriages that

  209. come out of this. In verse two, the

  210. Bible says that the sons of God saw the

  211. daughters of men, that they were fair,

  212. and they took them wives of all which

  213. they chose. Now, I'll be honest with you

  214. tonight. I'm not going to argue with you

  215. about whether or not those sons of God

  216. were angels or whether they were the

  217. godly line of Seth. But for the message

  218. tonight, I'm going to preach this as

  219. they were the godly line of Seth. And

  220. this is the reason why I'm going to

  221. preach that because God has just

  222. finished in Genesis 5 telling about the

  223. godliness of these generations of these

  224. men that followed. What did he describe

  225. them as in chapter number four? He said,

  226. "Then began men to what? To call upon

  227. the name of the Lord." And so they were

  228. labeled. They were given this title by

  229. the Lord. And they possessed that title

  230. as they prayed unto God. And so I

  231. believe personally at this point in time

  232. that may change tomorrow. Amen. And I

  233. believe personally at this point in time

  234. these sons of God were the sons here of

  235. Adam of Seth that godly line of Seth.

  236. And I notice the Bible says that those

  237. sons of God saw the daughters of men

  238. that they were fair and they took them

  239. wives of all which they chose. Now if

  240. you if if you give me just a minute

  241. tonight, I want to share something with

  242. you and you say, "Preacher, do you got

  243. Bible for what you going to say?" Well,

  244. I got a good good clue about it. All

  245. right. And I think about this. Okay. I

  246. mentioned to you this morning that you

  247. know Enoch and his sons are actually

  248. Seth and his son Enus. I personally

  249. believe that God did not allow them.

  250. Adam and Eve did not allow them to go

  251. and marry of the children of the

  252. Canaanite people. And so they had to be

  253. the children of Adam and Eve according

  254. to the text. And so they married within

  255. their family. It was much like in the

  256. days of Abraham. Abraham told Isaac,

  257. "You're not going to go get a a child

  258. outside of the heathen women, but you're

  259. going to go get a wife for my son Isaac

  260. out of the family." He wanted to make

  261. sure that everything stayed right. And

  262. let me say this tonight, you ought to

  263. marry somebody at the house of God.

  264. >> Young people, you ought to make your

  265. spouse be somebody that's saved. The

  266. Bible still says, "Be not unequally

  267. yolked together with unbelievers." And

  268. that's the truth tonight. Separation's a

  269. Bible doctrine all the way back to

  270. Genesis chapter number one. And what we

  271. find in this text is I personally

  272. believe that the sons of God as time

  273. went on they began instead of marrying

  274. within that family line marrying amongst

  275. those who were pure and holy among them

  276. they decided to step outside of that

  277. according to the verse you notice what

  278. the Bible says that they saw the

  279. daughters of men that they were fair

  280. I'll tell you number one reason why

  281. these marriages were wrong is because

  282. they were based on sight

  283. >> right

  284. >> Amen. Y'all going to have to help the

  285. preacher tonight. Amen. You say, "How is

  286. that?" Well, the Bible says they saw

  287. >> they saw the daughters of men that they

  288. were fair. Look what your Bible says.

  289. And they took them wise of all which

  290. they chose. They were based that they

  291. were solely basing their marriage upon

  292. their sight. God bless your heart,

  293. brother. They were basing their marriage

  294. upon sight. And it was based upon what

  295. their flesh want. Let me say this. You

  296. ought to decide in your heart right now,

  297. young people. I don't care how young you

  298. are. I don't care how far it is until

  299. you get married. Wherever you're at, you

  300. ought to decide in your heart right now

  301. that you're going to marry the content

  302. and not the container.

  303. >> Right?

  304. >> You're going to DECIDE YOU'RE GOING TO

  305. MARRY THE SUBSTANCE. AMEN. And not for

  306. sight. Amen. You're going to make sure

  307. that you're going to MARRY SOMEBODY

  308. WHO'S SAVED AND SOMEBODY who is not

  309. lost. I'm talking about SOMEBODY WHO'S

  310. NOT JUST SAVED, but somebody who's saved

  311. and sanctified and serving God and wants

  312. TO BE PURE THE SAME WAY THAT YOU WANT TO

  313. be pure. Can I get an amen tonight? THAT

  314. WANTS TO LIVE FOR JESUS THE SAME WAY

  315. THAT YOU DO. AMEN.

  316. >> And if you don't want to live for Jesus,

  317. you got a greater problem. Amen.

  318. >> You're right.

  319. >> But I noticed these marriages, they're

  320. mixed between the sons of God and

  321. daughters of men. And I want to point

  322. this out to you. I personally believe

  323. that the godly line of Seth was reaching

  324. out and marrying into that Canaanite

  325. people. He they were he was marrying

  326. they were marrying those daughters of

  327. the Ca of Cain's children. And the Bible

  328. says they were marrying them because

  329. what they saw, but they were also

  330. married them because they were their own

  331. personal selection. Notice that. And

  332. they took them wives of all which they

  333. chose. Now, you don't have to believe

  334. this tonight, but I personally believe

  335. that in this text, what you can find is

  336. that the parents arranged the marriage.

  337. Jewish culture, that was the way it was.

  338. The families would arrange the

  339. marriages. And so, I I have no reason to

  340. believe that it would be any other way

  341. in this text. But you see, the problem

  342. came when they decided they were smart

  343. enough to do it themselves.

  344. >> You're right.

  345. >> Amen. And let me say this now. We we

  346. don't we're not uh encouraging, you

  347. know, arranged marriages. You know, I'm

  348. not saying that tonight. But here's what

  349. I am telling you. All right. If your

  350. parents are godly and they don't

  351. approve.

  352. >> Come on, preacher.

  353. >> Anybody in the building?

  354. >> If your parents are godly and serving

  355. God and they don't approve, you better

  356. back up.

  357. >> Amen. Hey, friend. I when I was looking

  358. for a spouse in my younger days, I

  359. remember thinking about that. I remember

  360. thinking, man, if I I I my mama was the

  361. pattern. I'm going to stop right here

  362. for just a minute and preach. Amen.

  363. >> Come on, preacher.

  364. >> My mama was the pattern. And I thought,

  365. if I can find somebody that will love me

  366. the way my mama loves my daddy

  367. >> and the way my mama loves God. Go ahead.

  368. >> And you know what? That's what I look

  369. for.

  370. >> Amen. I bless his name. God gave me the

  371. desires of my heart. Amen. And my

  372. precious bride. And I'll say this, I

  373. couldn't have found her if I tried.

  374. >> You're right. Come on, preacher.

  375. >> I know. I know. We gonna preach it

  376. anyway. Amen. She was four and a half

  377. hours away in a in a little mountain

  378. town that they God God didn't even know

  379. where she's at. But I'm thankful,

  380. friend, that when she got out of there,

  381. God found her and she brought He brought

  382. her to me. Amen.

  383. >> I'm saying God brought her to me. And

  384. I'll tell you this, young people, you

  385. need to listen. You need to let God

  386. bring you your spouse. Right?

  387. >> Let God bring you your spouse. Amen. But

  388. I'll say this. When you choose yourself,

  389. you're going to choose wrong every time.

  390. >> Amen. They're mixed marriages. It was

  391. based upon sight. It was based upon

  392. their own personal selection. I will

  393. remind you, there was no separation

  394. here. They had went across the lines

  395. that God had ordained for them to stay

  396. in. But I notice even in the midst of

  397. this, and I'm I'm boy, I'm thankful for

  398. this tonight because ain't none of us

  399. been perfect. Amen. I'm thankful. I

  400. notice not only the multiplied men and

  401. the mixed marriages, but I see the

  402. merciful master in verse number three.

  403. Look what your Bible says. And the Lord

  404. said, "My spirit shall not always strive

  405. with man, for that he is also his

  406. flesh." You say, "Preacher, that doesn't

  407. sound very merciful." But notice that

  408. next word in verse three, yet. Yet his

  409. days shall be inund.

  410. You remember this morning I made the

  411. statement that Moses when he remembered

  412. that antidolivian people he said in

  413. Psalm number nine he said our he said he

  414. said a thousand years are but as a tale

  415. when it is passed he says just a vapor

  416. to you and then he goes on later in the

  417. chapter and says the days of our years

  418. are three score and 10 if by reason of

  419. strength they be four score what you're

  420. watching before your eyes in chapter six

  421. is that God is cutting their years down

  422. why is that because they're being

  423. disobedient. obedient,

  424. >> right?

  425. >> And I still believe tonight the Bible

  426. says that you're to honor your father

  427. and your mother that your days may be

  428. what?

  429. >> Prolonged upon the earth. Hey, that's

  430. still just as true as it was when they

  431. pinned it down. Amen. And I believe that

  432. tonight. And you say, "What are you

  433. saying?" I'm saying God was merciful

  434. unto them and the fact that he should

  435. have took them out.

  436. >> Right?

  437. >> And you know what happens a little later

  438. on? He is going to take them out because

  439. they refuse to listen even though he

  440. cuts their days down. And it and it

  441. never ceases to amaze me. And I'm going

  442. to get to the message in a minute. Amen.

  443. But it never ceases to amaze me the fact

  444. that the these boys went from living n 8

  445. 900 years down to 120 according to this

  446. text. And they never even stopped one

  447. time to think about, hey, God might be

  448. judging us.

  449. >> You're right,

  450. >> man. When we go through things in our

  451. life, God begins to judge us because of

  452. sin. Sinners get judged because of the

  453. things that they've done. They don't

  454. even blink at that.

  455. >> They don't even think twice about what

  456. God is trying to reveal unto them. But I

  457. want to say this. I'm thankful for every

  458. sinner that refuses to look to God. God

  459. is still merciful because Peter's still

  460. in the book. He said, "The Lord is

  461. longsuffering to us. We're not willing

  462. that any should perish, but that all

  463. should come to repentance. And so he's

  464. merciful unto you and I." And I notice

  465. in this text, the Bible says in verse

  466. number three, verse three, the Lord

  467. said, "My spirit shall not always strive

  468. with man." A sobering verse. the fact

  469. that God says there's going to come an

  470. end to conviction. Do you understand

  471. this morning that if you this evening

  472. that if you die lost without God,

  473. there's going to come an end

  474. >> to your opportunity

  475. >> right

  476. >> there. And and I believe for some

  477. there's people who will live and they

  478. will shun away the day of grace in their

  479. line. They'll shun away that salvation

  480. in their life. And there'll come a day

  481. in their life where God won't speak to

  482. them anymore. where the spirit will not

  483. convict them anymore because God is not

  484. obligated. Listen to me. GOD IS NOT

  485. OBLIGATED TO STRIVE WITH YOU AND I. But

  486. it is his mercy. It is his GRACE THAT HE

  487. WOULD SPEAK TO US. And man, I'm telling

  488. you, I believe I got saved the first

  489. time that I ever heard the word of God

  490. and understood that I was a sinner. And

  491. I've struggled because of that to some

  492. extent. But I'll tell you this, for

  493. most, that ain't the story.

  494. >> For most people, God deals with them

  495. years and years. Brother Tony said this

  496. past week that he was under conviction

  497. for seven years before he got saved. I

  498. can't even imagine that. You say, "What

  499. are you saying?" I'm saying God has been

  500. merciful in that he extends his hand to

  501. all of us. And he doesn't just do it

  502. once.

  503. >> But he does it time and time

  504. >> and time again.

  505. >> And I notice in this text, the Bible

  506. says, "And the Lord said, "My spirit

  507. shall not always strive with man."

  508. And I want to preach on this thought for

  509. just a little while tonight. I want to

  510. preach on the shame of sinful men.

  511. >> The shame of sinful men. Now, we know

  512. what's going to happen. God is preparing

  513. the world for a flood. And in this text,

  514. God has given them a space of mercy. But

  515. the Bible says in verse four,

  516. there were giants in the earth in those

  517. days. And also after that, when the sons

  518. of God came in under the daughters of

  519. men, and they bare children to them, the

  520. same became mighty men which are of old,

  521. men of renown. And I want to lay four

  522. things on your heart about these men

  523. tonight.

  524. And I'll be done. I noticed concerning

  525. this text, you realize God has shortened

  526. their days according to verse three. Yet

  527. his days shall be inund 120 years. You

  528. think about that. That's almost 10%

  529. >> that's left of what they were living

  530. before. 120 years they're now living.

  531. And the Bible says in verse four, there

  532. were giants in the earth in those days.

  533. And notice that next phrase, and also

  534. after that, you know what that means? It

  535. means after God shortened their days,

  536. you know what they did? Look what your

  537. Bible says. When the sons of God came in

  538. under the daughters of men, you know

  539. what that tells me? They kept doing the

  540. same thing.

  541. >> You're right. You know, I think the

  542. shame of our nation is that God has sent

  543. wakeup call after wakeup call after

  544. wakeup call. And you know what? We're

  545. still doing the same thing.

  546. >> Yes, sir.

  547. >> Amen. He's He's opened the door. I mean,

  548. he's dropped the hammer time and time

  549. again. We've seen it. We know that it's

  550. his judgment, but yet we go back to the

  551. same things again.

  552. >> Amen.

  553. >> God have mercy on us. And I notice in

  554. this text, I notice first of all tonight

  555. concerning this, I want you to notice

  556. these men. And and I want to remind you,

  557. okay? Paul said he when he described the

  558. last days, he said in the last days,

  559. perilous times will will come. And what

  560. who did he describe? He didn't describe

  561. the women. He didn't describe the

  562. children. But you remember what he said?

  563. He said men shall be lovers of their own

  564. selves.

  565. >> Right?

  566. >> Every problem in this tra in this Bible

  567. is traced back to men.

  568. >> You're right.

  569. >> Refusing to be who God ordained them to

  570. be.

  571. >> Now, I understand tonight that that word

  572. man in a lot of senses has to do it's a

  573. it's a broader term that means man,

  574. woman, boy, and girl. I realize that,

  575. but you understand Christ is the head of

  576. the church and the husband's the head of

  577. the wife and Christ is the head of the

  578. husband,

  579. >> right?

  580. >> So, we're in authority,

  581. >> right?

  582. >> And so, that means if there's a problem,

  583. it comes back to us because there ain't

  584. no problem with Jesus.

  585. >> Come on.

  586. >> Notice the text. I see number one

  587. tonight talking about the shame of

  588. sinful men. I notice in these days,

  589. number one, there are sizable men.

  590. Notice what the Bible says in verse

  591. four. There were giants in the earth in

  592. those days. Now I people have preached

  593. this and I'm not going to argue with you

  594. tonight if you believe this that those

  595. sons of God were angels and that the

  596. angels came down and took up with the

  597. the the daughters of men and because of

  598. that out of those relationships giants

  599. were born and and their size was larger

  600. than that of a natural man because of

  601. the angelic beings being the progenited

  602. father. But I I want to submit to you in

  603. verse number four, it does not mention

  604. that giants were born in those days.

  605. Notice the term.

  606. >> It said there were giants in those days,

  607. >> right?

  608. >> Means they were present on the earth.

  609. >> And so I really believe it has nothing

  610. to do with that. I think it has to do

  611. with the fact that men were there were

  612. just some men who were larger. I mean

  613. you can look at the NBA and NFL and see

  614. that there are some giants that are

  615. still living. Amen. I mean uh old Wimby

  616. down there 7 foot something tall. I mean

  617. that's a giant. Amen. Right?

  618. >> What I'm saying is is it ain't got so

  619. much to do with the supernatural side of

  620. it. But what I'm saying, these are

  621. sizable men. I want to say this to you.

  622. The only time you ever find this word

  623. giant again in this term in the Hebrew

  624. is when God is talking about the sons of

  625. Anoch, the giants that were in the land

  626. of promise. And I thought about this

  627. when I read this text. The Bible says

  628. God is he he says, "My spirit is not

  629. always going to strive with man." And

  630. you know what? He did not consider their

  631. size.

  632. >> Right

  633. >> now, I want to say this tonight.

  634. Physically, there ain't none of us that

  635. are giants in here tonight. But you know

  636. what? I've met people, and you've met

  637. people who think they're a giant.

  638. >> You're right.

  639. >> They're a giant financially. They're a

  640. giant corporately. They're a giant

  641. socially. They're a giant. Some people,

  642. some preachers think they're a giant

  643. ministerally. Amen. But I'll say this,

  644. God didn't care about how the how big

  645. they were.

  646. >> Amen. In this text, the Bible says there

  647. were giants in those days. And I don't

  648. want you to miss the point. What I'm

  649. saying is the judgment was still coming

  650. in spite of their size. Notice this. Not

  651. only I see there were sizable men in the

  652. text, but number two, there's strong men

  653. in the text. The Bible said there were

  654. giants in the earth in those days. And

  655. also after that, when the sons of God

  656. came in under the daughters of men and

  657. they bear children to them, they the

  658. same became notice that mighty men.

  659. mighty men. You know what that word

  660. mighty means? It speaks of their

  661. strength. It speaks of their ability.

  662. There were sizable men. There were

  663. giants in the land. But not only that,

  664. there were men who had great ability

  665. physically. They were strong. They were

  666. able to fight. They were able to war.

  667. That's what that word mighty literally

  668. means. You think about those mighty men

  669. of David, those men of valor, those

  670. chosen men that were around David. What

  671. were they known for? They were known for

  672. their strength. But let me say this. God

  673. didn't care about their strength. You're

  674. right.

  675. >> Amen.

  676. >> Let me say this. Just because you're

  677. sizable in the world doesn't mean you

  678. got any size with God. You're

  679. >> right.

  680. >> Let me just say this. Just because

  681. you're strong financially or you're

  682. strong in the world or you're strong

  683. socially. Let me remind you that doesn't

  684. get anywhere with God.

  685. >> Amen. People preach about Samson a lot

  686. of times and the images that we have of

  687. Samson and and it's, you know, it's

  688. cartoonish really, but they display

  689. Samson as this big brony guy. But I tell

  690. you what, I really believe he was a he

  691. was a pipsqueak.

  692. >> I believe the Holy Ghost of God was his

  693. power. I know the Holy Ghost of God was

  694. his power. Amen. I don't think it was

  695. exemplified in his flesh. What I'm

  696. saying is God doesn't care about your

  697. size. And God doesn't care about your

  698. strength. Notice this thirdly, and I'll

  699. get get to the message here tonight.

  700. They're sizable. They're strong, but

  701. they're also social men. Notice verse

  702. four. The same became mighty men which

  703. were of old. Notice this, men of renown.

  704. And what's interesting about that is

  705. that phrase which were of old literally

  706. means that continually from the time of

  707. their youth all throughout their life,

  708. they were social giants. Now, what does

  709. that mean? Well, you think about this

  710. text. The Bible told us in verse number

  711. one that men began to multiply. And so,

  712. as the human race multiplied, you know

  713. how multiplication works. It grows and

  714. grows and grows. The more it grows, the

  715. faster it grows, the larger it gets. You

  716. understand what I'm saying? And so

  717. because of that, there had to be

  718. headship.

  719. >> There had to be leadership. And the

  720. Bible says that they were of old men of

  721. renown. And that literally means they

  722. were great men socially speaking. They

  723. were well known throughout society.

  724. >> They were noticed by people. Man, we got

  725. a problem with that in this day and

  726. time.

  727. >> Men do anything for somebody to look at

  728. them.

  729. >> Come on, preach.

  730. >> Want to be noticed. Want to be seen.

  731. Want to be heard.

  732. want to be socially great. I'll say

  733. this, social media is killing us.

  734. >> You're right.

  735. >> Amen. And let me remind you of this,

  736. friend. Jesus, when he came to this

  737. earth, if there's ever anybody, I wish

  738. you'd hear me preach tonight. If there's

  739. ever anybody that deserved a platform,

  740. if there's ever anybody THAT DESERVED TO

  741. HAVE SOCIAL STATUS AND SOCIAL STANDING,

  742. it was the Lord Jesus Christ. CUZ HE

  743. COULD HAVE DISPLAYED HIS PERFECTION. HE

  744. COULD HAVE DISPLAYED HIS PURITY. HE

  745. COULD HAVE DISPLAYED HIS POWER ON THE

  746. WORLD STAGE. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE

  747. SAID? PAUL SAID HE MADE HIMSELF OF NO

  748. REPUTATION

  749. >> AND TOOK UPON HIMSELF THE FORM OF A

  750. SERVANT. HE DIDN'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE

  751. KNOWING WHO HE WAS. HE WANTED TO HELP

  752. THEM AND SAVE THEM. AMEN.

  753. >> These social men.

  754. Now I'm at the message.

  755. Isn't that what

  756. the conservative movement's pushing for

  757. in America?

  758. >> You're right, preacher.

  759. >> Sizable men,

  760. >> strong men,

  761. >> and socially great men.

  762. >> Right.

  763. >> And we are watching

  764. the decimation,

  765. the dissipation

  766. >> of the conservative movement of this

  767. country.

  768. >> That's right.

  769. >> They're looking for these things. But

  770. here's the problem. Notice the next

  771. verse. The Bible says in verse 5,

  772. "And God saw that the wickedness of man

  773. was great in the earth in spite of the

  774. sizable men." And there's not a doubt in

  775. my mind. The Bible says Goliath, he was

  776. 9 foot and some 6 in tall. There's not a

  777. doubt in my mind there was men in this

  778. day probably bigger than that. Size

  779. probably greater than any man in

  780. history.

  781. But God didn't care about their size,

  782. >> right?

  783. men probably strong. No doubt. You think

  784. about the fact they everything they did

  785. was primitive,

  786. >> right?

  787. >> The plowing of the land. I I mean I know

  788. I'm sure they did it with animals,

  789. >> but it was still controlled by men,

  790. >> right?

  791. >> Strongest men of the strongest men. Is

  792. anybody hearing me preach tonight?

  793. >> And socially, they didn't have anything

  794. but the human race in this time,

  795. >> right?

  796. >> They didn't have pastimes, didn't have

  797. sports, they didn't have all the things

  798. that we have in this day and time. And

  799. so, you know what was the primary thing?

  800. It was being in control over you who was

  801. under you

  802. >> standing.

  803. And so in spite of all their greatness,

  804. everything that they possessed, the

  805. Bible says God saw that the wickedness

  806. of man was great on the earth. What that

  807. means is that publicly, totally,

  808. entirely, the human race, mankind is

  809. wicked.

  810. >> You're right.

  811. >> Amen.

  812. >> Totally depraved.

  813. >> He says their strength does not matter.

  814. Their their size DOES NOT MATTER. THEIR

  815. SOCIAL STANDING DOES NOT MATTER. GOD

  816. SAYS BECAUSE THEY ARE SINFUL. You're

  817. >> right.

  818. >> AND LET ME SAY THIS. WE HAVE BUILT A

  819. GENERATION in our country and I'm afraid

  820. many people are building young men in

  821. churches that they want them to be

  822. SIZABLE AND THEY WANT THEM TO BE STRONG

  823. AND THEY WANT THEM TO BE SOCIABLE. BUT

  824. THE PROBLEM IS THEY'VE NEVER DEALT WITH

  825. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THEY HAVE AND THAT

  826. IS SIN. YOU'RE

  827. >> RIGHT. WE WANT TO BREAK THE 12STEP

  828. PROGRAM AND TAKE DRUG ADDICTS AND GET

  829. THEM OFF THE STREET. And I'm all for

  830. that tonight. You understand WHAT I'M

  831. SAYING? BUT I'M SAYING UNTIL WE DEAL

  832. WITH A SIN PROBLEM, until we deal with a

  833. matter of the heart, IT DOESN'T MATTER

  834. WHAT WE DO TO THEIR FLESH,

  835. >> THE SHAME OF SINFUL MEN IS NO MATTER HOW

  836. GREAT THEY MAY BE, THEY'RE STILL

  837. TERRIBLE AND WICKED BEFORE GOD.

  838. >> Notice this. Their sin was public. The

  839. Bible says it was great in the earth.

  840. The entirety of the earth was sinful.

  841. Now, like I said, you know, I believe

  842. this tonight, but I believe before the

  843. flood, there was a superc continent.

  844. History, science kind of verifies at one

  845. time there was a superc continent. I

  846. believe when the fountains of the great

  847. deep were broken up, the continent

  848. split.

  849. But this is what I will say about this

  850. this person, this text specifically. The

  851. Bible says it was great in the earth.

  852. And so if there was a superc continent,

  853. that meant that everybody was in the

  854. same place. You're

  855. >> right.

  856. >> And as they were in the same place, you

  857. know what they were doing? They were all

  858. involved in the same thing.

  859. >> That's right.

  860. >> And you notice in the text, it's not

  861. homosexuality.

  862. It's not fornication.

  863. It's not adultery. It's not any of that.

  864. The Bible says they just married people

  865. who they weren't supposed to marry.

  866. >> You're right.

  867. >> And this is why God's judging them.

  868. >> You're right.

  869. Amen.

  870. >> Think about our problems.

  871. >> Come on.

  872. >> You know what God did to a nation cause

  873. the problems we have? He didn't send the

  874. flood. He sent fire.

  875. >> Right?

  876. >> Burned them alive. They burned alive to

  877. a place of continual burning.

  878. >> Right?

  879. >> You know what? When God sent the fire,

  880. there would never be another moment when

  881. they didn't feel the flames.

  882. >> Right?

  883. >> He condemned them all to hell. And I

  884. want to say this. We need to remind

  885. ourselves that it's the small foxes

  886. >> that spoil the vine,

  887. >> right?

  888. >> It's the little sins. Let me say this to

  889. you, young person. You You might You

  890. might be a young lady and you marry a

  891. man. You might be a young man and you

  892. marry a lady. But the truth is, just

  893. because you're not homosexual doesn't

  894. mean you're right with God. That's

  895. >> right.

  896. >> Oh, is anybody here preach tonight?

  897. >> It there's more to it than that.

  898. >> There it's more specific than that.

  899. Separation is a necessity. That's

  900. >> right.

  901. >> It's required. It's not just

  902. recommended. It is required if you are

  903. going to live the Christian life. You

  904. have to be pure. And you have to

  905. maintain THAT PURITY AT WHATEVER COST.

  906. >> YOU'RE RIGHT.

  907. >> AMEN.

  908. >> God don't care about your size. He don't

  909. care about your strength. He does not

  910. care about your social standing. Notice

  911. this sin was public, but it was

  912. personal. Look what the Bible says. This

  913. wickedness of man was great in earth

  914. that every imagination of the thoughts

  915. of his heart. Sin was a blanket problem.

  916. But let me say this. It was also

  917. personal.

  918. >> You're right.

  919. >> In every man's heart, look what your

  920. Bible says.

  921. The imagination of the thoughts. Notice

  922. this. I'm going to give you this. All

  923. right. Stay with me. I don't want you to

  924. lose me. Verse five. That word

  925. imagination there speaks of the

  926. purposes, the intentions.

  927. He saw that the wickedness of man was

  928. great in EARTH THAT EVERY IMAGINATION

  929. totally

  930. every purpose. Let me ask you what

  931. drives you.

  932. >> What's your purpose?

  933. >> Come on.

  934. >> God says that EVERY IMAGINATION, EVERY

  935. INTENTION, EVERY PURPOSE was wicked.

  936. >> Not only that, but not only the purposes

  937. were wicked, but the plan was wicked.

  938. Notice the text. That every imagination

  939. of the thoughts.

  940. >> The thoughts. You say, "Well,

  941. imagination and thoughts are the same

  942. thing." No other not

  943. >> right

  944. >> the imagination is that intent behind

  945. your thoughts

  946. >> right

  947. >> you see I can think right but if my mode

  948. is wrong you know what that tells me my

  949. imagination's not in check

  950. >> what does the Bible say about the

  951. weapons of our warfare are not carnal

  952. but are mighty through God to the

  953. pulling down of strongholds casting down

  954. imaginations

  955. and every high thing that exalteth

  956. itself against the knowledge of Christ

  957. our savior here. Problem we have in this

  958. day and time is people are doing the

  959. right thing with the wrong intention.

  960. >> Right.

  961. >> You can come to church tonight. Why you

  962. here?

  963. >> RIGHT.

  964. >> WHY? WHY DO I PREACH? WHY DO I DO WHAT I

  965. DO? HEY, IT matters all it matters as

  966. much why you do what you do as what you

  967. do.

  968. >> You're right.

  969. >> He said the purpose was wicked. The

  970. imagination, the plan was wicked. His

  971. intent was wicked. The what he what HE

  972. WAS GOING TO DO, the thoughts. Notice

  973. this. Not only the purpose, the plan,

  974. BUT NOTICE THE PASSION. Look at the

  975. place there of his heart.

  976. That deep inner man, that part WHERE WE

  977. TRUST CHRIST, THAT PART WHERE WE KNOW

  978. GOD, THE PASSION THAT WE HAVE FOR HIM

  979. PROCEEDS OUT OF THE HEART. BUT YET AT

  980. THE SAME TIME, GOD LOOKED AT A

  981. GENERATION AND SAID, "THEIR EVERY

  982. THOUGHT, THEIR EVERY PURPOSE, THEIR

  983. EVERY PLAN, THEIR EVERY PASSION IS

  984. WICKED."

  985. >> RIGHT? That's right.

  986. >> That's why Jeremiah said in Jeremiah 17,

  987. he said, "The heart is deceitful ABOVE

  988. ALL THINGS AND DESPERATELY WICKED. WHO

  989. CAN KNOW IT?"

  990. >> RIGHT?

  991. >> Let me remind you, this didn't change

  992. after the flood.

  993. >> Yes.

  994. >> WHEN NOAH STEPPED OFF THE ARK, GOD, HE

  995. saw

  996. that the thoughts of man's heart was

  997. evil continually from his youth.

  998. >> Right?

  999. >> But I'm describing to you what preceded

1000. judgment. You understand? We are headed

  1001. for judgment.

  1002. >> JUDGMENT is coming.

  1003. >> Amen.

1004. >> Their per their purpose, their plan,

1005. their passion was perverse. Notice the

  1006. text.

1007. Every imagination of the thoughts of his

1008. heart was only evil, SINGULAR. THERE WAS

1009. NO GOOD IN THEIR THOUGHTS. NOW, I'LL BE

1010. HONEST with you. I've had a lot of bad

1011. thoughts over the years, but I couldn't

  1012. imagine

  1013. every day

  1014. >> totally depraved.

  1015. >> You're right.

1016. >> And you know what? We have wrong

  1017. thoughts.

1018. >> We say things that are wrong. Out of the

1019. bunch of the heart, mouth speaketh.

1020. >> We have wrong thoughts. We say wrong

1021. things. But God looked at a generation

  1022. and he said,

1023. >> "Everything that they think about,

1024. everything that they want to do, and

1025. everything that they are is wicked."

  1026. That's

  1027. >> right. Yeah.

  1028. >> You know what that is? That's a

1029. description of lost world that's under

  1030. control of Satan.

  1031. >> Right?

1032. >> You say, "What do you mean by that?"

1033. Well, and don't fall out with me what

  1034. I'm fixing to say.

  1035. A lost man

1036. in one sense can only do wickedness. He

1037. can do no good. All righteousness is as

  1038. filthy rags.

1039. >> Right? But you understand there are

1040. morally good people who are lost.

  1041. >> You're right.

1042. >> And not everything they do in their life

  1043. is bad. That's

  1044. >> right.

1045. >> The only people who can be completely

1046. and totally depraved and wicked all the

1047. time in their thoughts is somebody who's

  1048. controlled by the devil.

  1049. >> That's right.

1050. >> Notice the text. They're perverse. And

1051. the Bible said it was only evil

  1052. continually. This sinfulness was

  1053. perpetual.

  1054. It did not end.

1055. And the Bible says in verse six, it

1056. repented the Lord that he made man.

  1057. Means he was sorrowful.

  1058. >> Right?

1059. >> He was sorry that he made man. Could you

1060. imagine that God was sorrowful

1061. concerning the state of his people that

1062. he made? Not only was he sorrowful, but

1063. he was sick. Look what the Bible says.

1064. that he had made man on the earth and it

1065. grieved him at his heart. I'm talking

1066. about an entire generation, all of

  1067. humankind, save one family.

1068. Verse seven, he's going to bring

1069. destruction. I'm going to give you the

1070. message. I'm done. He's going to bring

1071. destruction. Verse seven, I will destroy

1072. man. Verse seven, he talks about their

1073. defilement. He said, I've created whom

1074. from the face of the earth, both man and

1075. beast and creeping thing, the fouls

1076. there, for it repenteth me that I've

1077. made them. You know why he was going to

1078. destroy the entirety of creation was?

1079. Because the sinfulness of man had

  1080. infected creation.

  1081. >> You're right.

1082. >> God destroyed animal life and plant life

1083. and all the human race because of the

  1084. sin of man.

  1085. >> You're right.

1086. >> Your sin affects the world around you.

  1087. >> Right.

  1088. >> Destruction,

  1089. defilement,

  1090. disappointment.

1091. For it repenteth me that I have made

1092. them. You say, "Preacher, what's the

1093. message?" You see, the shame of sinful

1094. men bought brought judgment. God was

1095. disappointed with his creation. And you

1096. know what the truth is? If you're here

1097. tonight in your loss, there is nothing

1098. you can do to please God. That's

  1099. >> right.

  1100. >> Amen.

1101. >> Hebrews 11:5 said talked about Enoch. He

    Hebrews 11:5

1102. had this testimony that he pleased God.

1103. Verse six, he said, "Without faith, it's

  1104. impossible to please him."

1105. >> For he that cometh to God must believe

1106. that he is and that he's a rewarder of

1107. them that diligently seek him. You say,

1108. "Preacher, what's the message of hope?"

1109. Notice the next verse, verse eight.

1110. What's them first two words?

  1111. >> But Noah,

1112. an entire generation was going to be

1113. wiped off the face of the earth because

1114. of their sin. In spite of their

1115. defilement, in spite of their

1116. disappointment, there was one person who

  1117. was different.

  1118. >> Amen.

1119. >> Did you hear what I said?

  1120. >> Come on.

1121. >> Let me say this to you children. Listen

1122. to me. In spite of the defilement around

1123. you and the disappointment of sin and

1124. people around you, you can be different.

  1125. >> That's right.

1126. >> You do not have to live like the world

  1127. around you.

1128. >> And the Bible says, "But Noah found

1129. grace in the eyes of the Lord." And you

1130. know why he found grace? Notice the

1131. verse. He found grace in the eyes of the

1132. Lord. Verse number nine, these are the

1133. generations of Noah. Noah's a just man,

1134. perfect in his generations. And Noah

  1135. walked with God. Amen.

1136. >> There was only two men in the

1137. antidolivian age that had that

1138. description. It was Enoch and Noah. And

1139. you know what happened to both of them?

1140. They were delivered from judgment.

  1141. >> Right?

1142. >> Enoch got raptured out. Noah got

  1143. delivered through.

1144. And you say, "What's the emphasis,

  1145. preacher?"

1146. Are you going to go with the crowd?

  1147. >> Come on, preacher.

1148. >> Two people. Peter said it this way. He

1149. said, "Whereas eight souls were saved by

1150. water." Noah, his two sons, and their

  1151. wives, eight souls,

  1152. watching people walk away

1153. because they're tired of it,

  1154. >> right?

1155. >> Tired of what we believe. Tired of how

  1156. we behave.

  1157. >> Yeah.

1158. >> Tired of how we want to live.

1159. God said, "Straight's the way.

1160. >> Straight is the gate. Narrow is the

  1161. way."

  1162. >> That's not changed.

  1163. >> Right?

1164. >> The shame of sinful men has always been

  1165. the same.

1166. >> In spite of their size, IN SPITE OF

1167. THEIR STRENGTH, IN SPITE OF THEIR SOCIAL

1168. STANDING, GOD SAYS, "YOUR SIN IS GREATER

  1169. TO ME THAN THAT."

  1170. >> RIGHT?

1171. There's not a doubt in my mind God could

1172. take somebody with a lot more or or

1173. experience THAN MYSELF AND PROBABLY

1174. PREACH a better message in the sense OF

1175. THE THEOLOGICAL PART. BUT THE TRUTH IS,

1176. MAN, I'M TELLING YOU, PEOPLE WHO ARE

1177. GREAT IN THIS WORLD ARE NOT GREAT WITH

  1178. GOD.

  1179. >> YOU'RE RIGHT.

  1180. >> That's right.

1181. >> If you're GOING TO BE GREAT IN THE

1182. WORLD, YOU WILL NOT BE GREAT WITH GOD.

1183. JESUS SAID, "MARVEL NOT THAT THE WORLD

  1184. HATES YOU."

1185. >> RIGHT? DECIDE, YOUNG PEOPLE. DECIDE

1186. TODAY THAT YOU'RE GOING TO GO WITH GOD

1187. IN SPITE OF THE CROWD, IN SPITE OF THE

1188. CHARISMA, IN SPITE OF WHAT THE DEVIL

1189. SAYS AND TRIES TO PUT IN YOUR HEART.

  1190. >> That's right.

1191. >> I'm tired of watching them walk away.

  1192. >> Amen.

1193. >> My plea to you is this tonight. Every

1194. heads bowed, every eyes closed. The

1195. shame of sinful men's always been the

  1196. same, church.

1197. Doesn't matter how good you are. God's

1198. not going to be pleased with that.

  1199. >> Right?

1200. >> Let me say this to you tonight.

  1201. God will accept.

1202. You say, "Preacher, that's all I've got.

1203. All I've got is what I've done in this

1204. life." Well, the Bible said, David said

1205. this, Psalm 51, he said, "A broken and

1206. contrite heart, thou will not despise."

1207. Broken and contrite spirit, they will

1208. not despise. If you realize that all you

1209. have is what you think are good works

1210. right now, if all you have is your life

1211. on this earth to live to get you to

1212. heaven, you'll die and go to hell.

  1213. Right?

1214. Let me say this tonight. If you come to

1215. God with a broken heart, he'll forgive

  1216. you.

1217. He'll save you. He'll cleanse you. And

1218. he'll make a difference in your life.

1219. This altar is open tonight. Let me say

1220. this for you children of God. Dare to be

  1221. different.

1222. Dare to be different. Decide to be

1223. different. And let me say this. If you

1224. dare to be different, decide to be

1225. different. You'll declare that you are

1226. different. When that friend, when that

1227. person tries to get you to do something

1228. that you know you ain't supposed to do,

1229. if you've already decided in your heart

1230. before you get there, you know what

1231. you'll do? You won't be afraid to tell

1232. them, "Hey, I'm not going to do that."

1233. You know, when Daniel got to Babylon,

1234. you know what? They couldn't beat

1235. Jerusalem out of Daniel because when

1236. Daniel got there, you know what he did?

1237. He purposed in his heart back at

  1238. Jerusalem

1239. that he would not defile himself with

  1240. the king's meat.

1241. And Daniel watched king after king after

1242. king rise and fall, rise and fall. But

1243. you know what? Daniel had a steady life

  1244. of faith

1245. through every rise of leadership

1246. and every fall of leadership.

1247. Let me say this to you tonight, child of

1248. God. This country may go under.

1249. I don't know where we'll be in the next

1250. 20 years. God forbid it go under. I'm

1251. thankful for the liberties and freedom

1252. that we have. But I do know this. God's

  1253. grace will be sufficient

1254. should what we have enjoyed as the

1255. American people go under. I just want to

1256. remind you God's grace is not going to

  1257. change.

1258. But it might be the truth of the fact

1259. that this nation going under might spark

  1260. the greatest revival

  1261. that we've ever known.

1262. Let me ask you, are you going to serve

1263. God in spite of the crowd?

1264. You going to be you going to dare to be

  1265. different.

1266. You're going to decide to be different.

1267. Boy, I'm glad tonight I can declare that

1268. I am different. And Paul said it this

1269. way. He said, "I am what I am by the

1270. grace of God." It's not your pride that

1271. says you're different, but it's God on

1272. the inside that has made a difference.

  1273. Father,

1274. Lord, thank you for this truth tonight.

1275. I thank you for these young people

1276. that's coming to pray. Lord, parents

1277. need to come pray because Lord, the

1278. truth is it's not just the young ones,

1279. but it's all of us.

1280. God, if there's ever been a day we need

  1281. to decide.

1282. We're going to be different. We're going

1283. to stand. We're going to stay. We're

1284. going to serve. It's this day

1285. because Lord, that rich man's still

1286. burning in hell. And we know that the

  1287. shame of sinful men

1288. is going to be perpetual.

1289. But Lord, I'm thankful the the blessing

1290. of those who are saved. There'll never

1291. be a moment that they can't rejoice in

1292. heaven's fair land because they chose to

1293. junk everything on this side.

1294. that to let go of everything on this

1295. side so that they could live with you on

1296. that side. Father, I thank you so much

1297. for this precious truth tonight. May we

1298. take it and apply it to our hearts and

  1299. lives.

1300. Lord, I love you. Thank you for these

1301. this church and these people. We'll

1302. thank you for what you do because we ask

1303. it in Jesus name. God's children said,

  1304. >> "Amen."

  1305. >> Amen.

1306. >> Thank you for joining our service today.
