  9. >> Praise God. Well, I'm telling you what,

  10. it is home sweet home. Amen. And if

  11. you've been down here any amount of time

  12. and you got Jesus on the inside, ain't

  13. nothing you want to stay around here

  14. for. Amen. And I praise his name. I'm

  15. going one of these days to those sunny

  16. banks of sweet deliverance. Amen. And I

  17. appreciate the grace and the goodness of

  18. God. Thank you ladies for singing. Thank

  19. you choir uh for singing today. And I

  20. thank all of you for being here in the

  21. service today. Genesis chapter number

  22. nine. when you find your place, if you

  23. would stand if you can and able. Uh,

  24. Genesis chapter number nine. I want to

  25. read just a couple of verses this

  26. morning. Genesis chapter number nine.

  27. And just trying to follow the leadership

  28. of the Holy Spirit these days and he's

  29. been giving me a word and I've enjoyed

  30. it, enjoyed preaching and I miss being

  31. here on Wednesday night, but was

  32. thankful for the work we was able to

  33. accomplish for the Rock of Ages. And I

  34. appreciate brother Paul filling in in my

  35. place. And brother Cisk is a blessing,

  36. ain't he? And I appreciate the man of

  37. God been faithful all his life and I

  38. appreciate that sticking by the stuff.

  39. That's what I want to do. Amen. Just

  40. stick with the stuff and stay by the

  41. Bible. Amen. And I do appreciate you

  42. being here. Let's read Genesis 9. Let's

  43. look in verse number 13 or verse 12.

  44. Genesis chapter number 9 verse number

  45. 12.

  46. The Bible said, "And God said,"This is

  47. the token of the covenant which I make

  48. between me and you and every living

  49. creature that is with you for perpetual

  50. generations. I do set my bow in the

  51. cloud. And it shall be for a token of a

  52. covenant between me and the earth. And

  53. it shall come to pass when I bring a

  54. cloud over the earth that the bow shall

  55. be seen in the cloud. And I will

  56. remember my covenant which is between me

  57. and you and every living creature of all

  58. flesh. And the waters shall no more

  59. became a flood to destroy all flesh. And

  60. the bow shall be in the cloud, and I

  61. will look upon it, that I may remember

  62. the everlasting covenant between God and

  63. every living creature of all flesh that

  64. is upon the earth. And God said unto

  65. Noah, "This is the token of the covenant

  66. which I have established between me and

  67. all flesh that is upon the earth."

  68. Father, I ask you humbly this morning,

  69. God, as we bow for a moment of prayer,

  70. Lord, that you would help us today, God,

  71. we stand in desperate place and God, I

  72. have nothing to say. Lord, if you do not

  73. speak through me and so God, I pray that

  74. you would speak to me and through me

  75. this morning. Get all glory unto

  76. yourself. Hide us behind the cross.

  77. clothe us in our calling. And Lord, I

  78. pray today, Father, for that sinner

  79. that's here and is not saved. God, I

  80. pray they would see this wonderful

  81. message from the word of God today, God,

  82. that there is still a rainbow of

  83. shining. And Lord, I pray, God, that you

  84. would help us today to receive the

  85. truth, Lord, that you would lay on our

  86. hearts. I pray, Father, Lord, for that

  87. when it's grown cold and indifferent,

  88. Lord, I just can't help but feel like

  89. somebody here today not right with you.

  90. God, I pray Lord that they get right

  91. with you today and come back to a place

  92. of fellowship and nearness, God, unto

  93. you. And Lord, I ask that you would get

  94. glory unto yourself above all else. And

  95. we'll thank you for what you do because

  96. we ask it in Jesus name. Amen. And amen,

  97. you can be seated. Thank you for

  98. standing with us this morning. Genesis

  99. chapter number nine dawns a new day and

  100. age in the record of history in your

  101. Bible. Of course, we have considered up

  102. to this point, we've considered the

  103. Adamic covenant that was made with Adam

  104. when he was in the Garden of Eden. And

  105. then we've also considered that

  106. antidoluvian age that follows from

  107. Genesis 5 all the way through Genesis

  108. chapter number 7 into chapter number

  109. eight. But what we're seeing here in

  110. Genesis 9 is the beginning of a new day

  111. and a new age in the time of history.

  112. And what has what you've seen here is

  113. that Noah has been delivered through the

  114. flood here in Genesis 9. He has given

  115. him a command. In verse number one of

  116. Genesis 9, if you're taking notes, this

  117. is number one by way of introduction

  118. this morning. He's given Noah a command

  119. to love. Notice what the Bible says. God

  120. blessed Noah and his sons and said unto

  121. them, "Be fruitful and multiply and

  122. replenish the earth." And so we know

  123. that Noah and his three sons and their

  124. wives were all that were left behind

  125. after the flood here. And they were

  126. delivered through on the ark unto this

  127. new land unto new life. And here they

  128. are commanded to love and to be fruitful

  129. and to multiply and replenish the earth.

  130. Amen. And I want to say this to you this

  131. morning. Let's just put put it out there

  132. for all of us to hear loud and clear.

  133. Amen. this demonic society that we have

  134. that tells young ladies and young men

  135. that they should not get married and

  136. they should not have children, friend,

  137. that's straight out of the pits of hell.

  138. Amen. God's command is still in place.

  139. Amen. It's still there to be fruitful

  140. and multiply. You realize this world,

  141. hey friend, the Muslims, they're having

  142. them by the dozens. Amen. And Christian

  143. people seemingly don't want to have any

  144. children. Amen. We ought to be birthing

  145. children into this world. Amen. if

  146. they're not going to be if we can't win

  147. them, we ought to be winning our own.

  148. Somebody say amen right there. And that

  149. command still stands this morning. And I

  150. see not only the command to love here in

  151. the text, but I I see the conditions for

  152. living that are mentioned here in the

  153. text, verses 2 through verse number

  154. four. The Bible says, "The fear of you,

  155. and the dread of you shall be upon every

  156. beast of the earth, and upon every foul

  157. of the air, and upon all that moveth

  158. upon the earth, and upon all the fishes

  159. of the sea. Into your hand are they

  160. delivered." And so here begins in this

  161. text the animal creation to fear mankind

  162. and mankind becomes the top of the food

  163. chain here in this text. And we notice

  164. not only the fear of the animals life

  165. but we notice the flesh for eating

  166. that's mentioned in verse number three.

  167. Look what your Bible says. Every moving

  168. thing that liveth shall be meat for you.

  169. Even as the green herb have I given you

  170. all things. Amen. And so, aren't you

  171. thankful we don't have to go by Moses

  172. law? Amen. Thank God for bacon. Somebody

  173. say amen right there. Amen. I like this

  174. noic covenant a lot better. Amen. But he

  175. said, "Every living thing shall be meat

  176. for you." And the Bible says in verse

  177. number four, "But flesh with the life

  178. thereof, which is the blood thereof

  179. shall ye not eat." All right. Now, let

  180. me plug this for just a minute. Amen.

  181. We'll get to the message this morning.

  182. Hey, if you eat your steak medium or

  183. lower than that, there's something wrong

  184. with you. Amen. Amen. You need to cook

  185. that thing cuz the Bible says in verse

  186. number four, hey, it's biblical. Look

  187. what your Bible says, but flesh with the

  188. life thereof. What's it say, church,

  189. which is the blood thereof. Amen. Hey,

  190. if that thing still got blood in it,

  191. it's still alive. Amen. Somebody say,

  192. "Amen." Right there. Cook that meat.

  193. Amen. Don't eat it raw. Amen. But we

  194. roast it with fire. Amen. And so I

  195. notice the flesh in the text. Hey, it's

  196. all right to laugh. Amen. But this is

  197. the conditions for living that's given

  198. unto Noah here in the text. And on a

  199. more serious note, you note not only the

  200. command to love and the conditions for

  201. living, but notice thirdly, the

  202. consideration of life. In verse number

  203. five, look what your Bible says. And

  204. surely your blood of your lives will I

  205. require at the hand of every beast will

  206. I require it. And at the hand of man, at

  207. the hand of every man's brother will I

  208. require the life of man. And so

  209. instituted here in Genesis chapter

  210. number nine is the emphasis upon capital

  211. punishment. Amen. And when we destroyed

  212. that in this country, that is where our

  213. nation began to go down. It is not

  214. justly punished. Crimes are not justly

  215. punished in this country the way that

  216. they should be. But God ordained it in

  217. this text. He said, "For the life of

  218. man's blood shall that man's blood be

  219. required at beast hand and at man's

  220. hand." Amen. And I want to say this to

  221. you. In a nation, amen, that frowns upon

  222. us, if a dog bites a little baby,

  223. they'll frown upon you for taking the

  224. life of that dog, but they abort babies

  225. by the millions. Let me just preach

  226. right there for a minute. Amen. If that

  227. dog or that animal hurts a child, amen,

  228. IT OUGHT TO HAVE ITS LIFE TAKEN. AMEN.

  229. >> You ought not keep that thing, that

  230. sorry animal around if it's no good, no

  231. better than that. Amen. Verse six, he

  232. says, "Who so shedth man's blood, by man

  233. shall his blood be shed. for in the

  234. image of God made he man. So there's the

  235. consideration of life in punishment, but

  236. there's also the consideration of life

  237. in procreation. In verse 7, look what he

  238. says. He reate reiterates it again. And

  239. you be ye fruitful and multiply, bring

  240. forth abundantly in the earth and

  241. multiply therein. God reiterates it

  242. twice here in the text that Noah and his

  243. family were to replenish the earth. And

  244. I see this morning the command to love,

  245. the conditions for living. I see the

  246. consideration of life. But I want to

  247. preach to you this morning on this

  248. thought out of verse number, notice

  249. verse number nine. The Bible says, "And

  250. behold, I behold I establish my covenant

  251. with you and with your seed after you."

  252. And I want to look at this thought, "The

  253. covenant that will last." And I want to

  254. preach for just a little while this

  255. morning on this thought on remember the

  256. rainbow.

  257. remember the rainbow. I was thinking

  258. about it this morning as I was riding on

  259. the way to church and and uh I went and

  260. got me a biscuit this morning. Somebody

  261. say, "Praise God for that." Amen.

  262. >> And I was looking over the tops of the

  263. trees and you know, we've been in a

  264. drought here for some time in North

  265. Carolina. Much part of the country's

  266. been in a drought. It was dry where we

  267. was at down there in southern Tennessee.

  268. And I was thinking about it this

  269. morning. the trees. It almost looked as

  270. if their branches were stretching out

  271. and those leaves have turned that bright

  272. green from that water that's been upon

  273. those branches. And I was thinking in my

  274. heart, praying to the Lord driving down

  275. the road, Lord, thank you for sending

  276. the rain. Amen. To nourish the ground.

  277. Amen. And I'm reminded of what God

  278. promised in Genesis chapter 8 and verse

    Genesis 8 chapter mention

  279. 22 for this crowd that believe

  280. doomsday's coming. Just notice the

  281. promise that God gave in verse 22. while

  282. the earth remain and seed time and

  283. harvest and cold and heat and summer and

  284. winter and day and night shall not

  285. cease. I just want to submit to you this

  286. morning, as long as there's people here

  287. and as long as life's going in going on,

  288. the world's not going to end. Amen. Hey,

  289. this thing's not coming to a close. God

  290. promised, hey, seed time and harvest

  291. cold, he said, winter and cold and

  292. summertime and hot, amen, it's going to

  293. be here until God says it's no longer

  294. going to be here. And I want to deal

  295. with this covenant this morning for just

  296. a little while and preach on that

  297. thought. Remember the rainbow. You see

  298. the rainbow is a beautiful image. This

  299. and it's still a beautiful image in this

  300. day and time when I look outside some of

  301. the most beautiful sight. Some of the

  302. most beautiful uh pictures that are

  303. taken and paintings and murals and

  304. things that are done are done of

  305. rainbows and the image that's in the

  306. sky. And there's no coincidence, a

  307. ma'am, that this is a promise that's

  308. given here in the text. And I I notice

  309. in this covenant that will last. Notice

  310. this. And then we'll get into the

  311. message this morning. He makes this

  312. covenant with the people. Look what he

  313. says in verse 9. He said, "And I,

  314. behold, I establish my covenant with

  315. you." Notice this. And with your seed

  316. after you. So you know what this means?

  317. This covenant stands

  318. with your seed after you. This is made

  319. as a promise unto the human race. For

  320. all children are born children of Noah

  321. and his three sons. We are Noah's seed

  322. this morning. And this covenant is left

  323. with his people. And it's left to the

  324. animal kingdom. Look in verse 10. And

  325. with every living creature that is with

  326. you, of the foul, of the cattle, and of

  327. every beast of the earth with you, from

  328. all that go out of the ark to every

  329. beast of the earth. And I will establish

  330. my covenant with you. Now, this there's

  331. the people that's mentioned, but what is

  332. the promise? What exactly is the

  333. covenant? Well, notice the promise

  334. that's mentioned here in verse number

  335. 11. And I will establish my covenant

  336. with you, neither shall all flesh be cut

  337. off anymore by the waters of a flood,

  338. neither shall there anymore be a flood

  339. to destroy the earth. And God promised

  340. it there in Genesis 9. And throughout

  341. history, there's never been a flood

  342. that's destroyed all the human race

  343. again. Since the day that Noah and his

  344. family went into the ark, God has been

  345. good on his promise. Amen. Judgment has

  346. not come in a total figure the way that

  347. it came in Noah's day. And God has kept

  348. his promise. And I see not only the

  349. people and the promise, but I see the

  350. provision. You see, God never makes a

  351. covenant that he does not give an emblem

  352. or a figure for that covenant to seal

  353. it.

  354. >> He makes a covenant. Amen. But you see,

  355. he's got to give something that's going

  356. to be proof of that covenant. The Bible

  357. says in verse 12, "And God said, this is

  358. the token, the emblem, the symbol." Look

  359. what he says. This is the token of the

  360. covenant which I make between me and you

  361. and every living creature that is with

  362. you for perpetual generations. In verse

  363. 13, look what your Bible says. I do set

  364. my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for

  365. a token of a covenant between me and the

  366. earth. Now there's an old song in the

  367. redback himnel that's called God put a

  368. rainbow in the cloud. Beautiful song. I

  369. love the song. Amen. But it's not

  370. scriptural. Amen. But the song goes says

  371. when God should know in the grand old

  372. ark, he put a rainbow in the cloud.

  373. Well, that promise had been made yet.

  374. And what I find in this text, all right,

  375. when we think about this thought that

  376. God is making this promise, this

  377. covenant with this people, and he gives

  378. this provision, this image, this

  379. picture, if you will, of this rainbow.

  380. And he says, "It shall be for a token of

  381. a covenant between me and the earth."

  382. And there's great imagery here. And I'm

  383. going to try my best to pull that out of

  384. the text this morning. But when I think

  385. about the rainbow, I think about the

  386. fact number one that there was something

  387. that had to preede this covenant being

  388. made. And what you'll notice in

  389. scripture, it's a redundant theme that

  390. there is never a covenant made without a

  391. sacrifice.

  392. And you say, "Preacher, where's the

  393. sacrifice in the text?" Well, if you've

  394. studied Genesis any amount of time, we

  395. didn't look at it in depth as of yet,

  396. but Genesis chapter number 8 and verse

  397. 20. What your Bible say there in verse

  398. 20? And Noah, notice this, builded an

  399. altar. The Bible says he builded an

  400. altar unto the Lord. Noah has exited the

  401. ark. All creation, those animals that he

  402. has spared, have exited the ark. And the

  403. Bible says he took of every clean beast

  404. and of every clean foul and offered

  405. burnt offerings on the altar. And Noah

  406. offers this offering as upon the exit of

  407. their uh their trip upon the ark. In

  408. verse 21, the Bible says, "And the Lord

  409. smelled a sweet savor." God was pleased

  410. by the offering of Noah. The Lord said

  411. in his heart, "I will not again curse

  412. the ground anymore for man's sake. For

  413. the imagination of man's heart is evil

  414. from his youth, neither will I again

  415. smite anymore every living thing as I

  416. have done." And so what he is telling

  417. them here, telling us here and saying in

  418. this text is is that Noah's offering,

  419. Noah's sacrifice was successful.

  420. Amen. I'm thankful Noah's sacrifice

  421. wasn't the only one that was successful.

  422. Amen.

  423. >> Jesus, the lamb of God that came to die

  424. for the sins of the world. John said he

  425. went to Calvar's cross and there's never

  426. been a sacrifice that pleased God the

  427. Father the way that his sacrifice did.

  428. And I want to say this this morning. If

  429. you are saved this morning, if you've

  430. trusted Christ by faith, you are in a

  431. covenant with God

  432. >> because of his sacrifice.

  433. >> Noah offered this sacrifice. And notice

  434. the terms of this sacrifice. It's

  435. mentioned in verse number verse number

  436. look at verse 12. And God said this is

  437. the token of the covenant which I make.

  438. Notice this between me and you. You see

  439. my salvation the covenant that that's

  440. been made for my salvation was not made

  441. with me.

  442. >> Amen.

  443. >> It was made with Jesus.

  444. >> Amen.

  445. >> And you know what? The covenant that God

  446. made with Noah that day, it was made

  447. with him. It was made between God and

  448. Noah. But it was made for all the

  449. generations that were to follow. Jesus

  450. was faithful in the covenant that him

  451. and God made. God was pleased. Paul said

  452. it this way in Corinthians. He hath made

  453. him to be sin for us who knew no sin

  454. that we might be made. The righteousness

  455. of God. Don't miss this. In him.

  456. >> Amen.

  457. >> Amen. The covenant's not between us and

  458. him, but it's between him and God. Amen.

  459. Jesus. There's one God and one mediator

  460. between God and man. That is the man

  461. Christ Jesus. boy's preaching good this

  462. morning. Amen. I'M SAYING THE COVENANT,

  463. IT'S NOT BASED upon you and I because

  464. friend, we're sinful. But aren't you

  465. thankful? One who is sinless and one who

  466. was spotless and one WHO IS PERFECT,

  467. PURE, AND HOLY. THE COVENANT OF MY

  468. SALVATION. IT IS NOT MINE, BUT IT'S HIS.

  469. AMEN.

  470. >> Paul said this, "I'm crucified with

  471. Christ. Nevertheless, I live yet not I,

  472. but Christ liveth in me." He said, he

  473. said, "But the life that I now live, I

  474. live by my faith." No, he didn't say

  475. that. He said, "I live by the faith of

  476. the son of God who loved me and gave

  477. himself FOR ME. MY IT'S NOT MY FAITH

  478. THAT SAVES ME. IT'S his faith." Amen.

  479. That saves me this morning. AND THANK

  480. GOD, GOD WAS PLEASED WITH THE SACRIFICE

  481. OF NOAH. And he decides to make a

  482. covenant with him for the preservation

  483. of the human race. And this covenant

  484. teaches us a few things. It's all it's

  485. always preceded by sacrifice. But I also

  486. want to show you this in the text. You

  487. see, there is not only the sacrifice for

  488. the covenant, but notice the setting of

  489. the covenant. And when I say setting,

  490. I'm not talking about the plot or the

  491. place, but I'm talking about the

  492. building of it. Look what he says in

  493. verse 13. The word is literally used.

  494. Look what he says. I do set my bow in

  495. the cloud. He set it. You know what that

  496. means? He's placed it. He's positioned

  497. it. And when I think about the rainbow,

  498. you think about we were to go outside

  499. today, you probably if you looked in a

  500. cloud somewhere, you'd probably see a

  501. rainbow somewhere. And the imagery here

  502. that's found in this text is this. The

  503. Bible says he says, "I do set my bow,

  504. notice this, in the cloud." He set his

  505. bow in the cloud. Now, I was thinking

  506. about this. All right? And the image

  507. here is this that you think about this

  508. cloud really. I I could say it this way.

  509. The cloud represents the word of God and

  510. herein contains that covenant.

  511. The cloud, he said, I set my bow in the

  512. cloud and we hold the King James Bible

  513. as God's word in our hand. But I'll say

  514. this, when you look on that outside, all

  515. you see is a cover. But you know what?

  516. That that covenant's within.

  517. >> Amen.

  518. >> That bow is within. Amen. AND GOD HAS

  519. SET it there. I want I want you TO THINK

  520. ABOUT THIS. THAT HAS to do with God's

  521. will. Notice verse 13. He says, "I do."

  522. Amen. The husband and the wife at the

  523. marriage altar, you know what they say?

  524. I do. Amen. That you know what that

  525. means? They're they're ascribing their

  526. will, saying that I WILL TAKE YOU AS MY

  527. HUSBAND. I WILL take you as my wife. God

  528. says, "I'm going to do it. I do set my

  529. bow in the cloud." It's his will. It's

  530. what he wanted to do.

  531. >> But I'll say this, it was his work, too.

  532. >> Amen.

  533. >> He's the only one that could do it.

  534. >> That's right.

  535. >> Amen.

  536. He's the only one that could broadcast

  537. that spectrum of light in the clouds.

  538. EVERY TIME A CLOUD COMES over full of

  539. water, you can look and see the rainbow

  540. and it's an expression of God that it is

  541. a work of God. Hey, friend, I don't know

  542. anybody that's ever looked at a rainbow

  543. and said, "I just don't think there's a

  544. God." Amen. I don't know about you, but

  545. anytime I see a rainbow, something wells

  546. up on the inside OF ME. THANK YOU, GOD,

  547. FOR YOUR PROMISE. BECAUSE IT AIN'T JUST

  548. about a promise THAT HE WOULDN'T FLOOD

  549. THE EARTH FOR ME, BUT IT'S ABOUT A

  550. PROMISE, AMEN, THAT HE WOULD GIVE ME

  551. FAITH TO SAVE ME FROM MY SIN. AMEN. AND

  552. IT REMINDS ME THAT I'VE BEEN DELIVERED.

  553. HALLELUJAH.

  554. >> But you know what? What's most

  555. interesting to me about this bow

  556. is not the sacrifice. And and indeed, I

  557. don't want to make light of the cross

  558. this morning. It's not the sacrifice,

  559. and it's also not the setting of it. We

  560. know that only God could do that. Aren't

  561. you thankful? There's some things in our

  562. life that we know only God could do.

  563. >> Amen.

  564. >> But I tell you, this is what amazes me.

  565. I tell you in verse number, notice verse

  566. number 14.

  567. It's not the sacrifice, it's not the

  568. setting, but it is the sight of this bow

  569. that amazes me.

  570. And it's not because the sight itself,

  571. but it's because of who's looking.

  572. Notice verse 14. And it shall come to

  573. pass when I, that's God speaking, bring

  574. a cloud over the earth, that the bow

  575. shall be seen in the cloud. And notice

  576. verse 15. What's that first phrase of

  577. verse 15? And I will remember my

  578. covenant.

  579. Now, you just think this morning the

  580. rainbow was put there for you,

  581. but it wasn't. It was in a sense, but

  582. God said, "It's my bow."

  583. And I want to give you three things this

  584. morning about this bow,

  585. about remembering the rainbow. Very

  586. simple, but it's true. When I think

  587. about this rainbow this morning, it

  588. reminds me of these three truths about

  589. God and his person. Now, I'm thankful

  590. God is holy and that is his essence.

  591. It's who he is. Amen. We say that God,

  592. his essence is love, but his essence is

  593. holiness. Amen. And out of his holiness

  594. proceeds a perfect love for you and I.

  595. Amen. And aren't you thankful that he

  596. did not compromise his holiness in order

  597. to bring some kind of life to us that

  598. would not last? But you see, holiness is

  599. the only thing that can produce eternal

  600. life. Amen. Paul said it this way.

  601. Follow holiness without which no man

  602. shall see the Lord. If there is not

  603. imputed righteousness, imputed holiness

  604. in your life, you cannot be saved. And

  605. so, I'm thankful for the holiness of

  606. God. I'm thankful for the love of God

  607. this morning. But I want to tell you

  608. this. I'm thankful that God is always

  609. aware.

  610. >> And when I look at this text, the rema

  611. the rainbow reminds me, talking about

  612. remembering the rainbow, the rainbow

  613. reminds me number one this morning that

  614. God is looking.

  615. God's looking.

  616. >> God is watching. You understand? The

  617. Bible says, "The eyes of the Lord are in

  618. every place. Beholding the evil and the

  619. good." God is watching every event that

  620. goes on. No matter how dark the alley,

  621. no matter how secret you MAY FEEL IT MAY

  622. BE, you understand God only not not only

  623. sees the physical, but he sees the

  624. mental. He sees the spiritual. He sees

  625. all of it. He sees the intents of our

  626. heart. Amen. And the inner motives. And

  627. what I'm reminded of in this text, the

  628. Bible says this in verse 14, it shall

  629. come to pass when I bring a cloud over

  630. the earth that the bow shall be seen in

  631. the cloud. And he said, "And I will

  632. remember my covenant." You see, this bow

  633. was set up there so God could see it.

  634. >> And you say, "Preacher, what does that

  635. express to me today?" Well, I want to

  636. say this. God's look is number one. Oh,

  637. man. It's a look of love.

  638. >> Amen.

  639. >> You know, I'm reminded of his truth. The

  640. Bible, and I got to give you this. It's

  641. what's on my mind. I can't get away from

  642. it. I'm trying to hold it off, but I

  643. can't get get away from it.

  644. You see the rainbow this morning, it's a

  645. reminder that God is looking because of

  646. this. You see, when we think about a

  647. rainbow, and I hope that you youngans

  648. know this this morning, and you know, it

  649. wouldn't surprise me if the schools

  650. don't teach this anymore because it's

  651. one of the greatest proofs of God's work

  652. that there is in creation. But what is a

  653. rainbow in a physical sense? Rainbow is

  654. this. We know this this morning. It's

  655. light passing through. It's the spectrum

  656. of light passing through water.

  657. >> And when you see a rainbow, it's always

  658. in a cloud where water's present. And I

  659. was thinking about this. You know, the

  660. spectrum, I don't remember. It's been

  661. been a few years since I looked at this.

  662. Amen. But I think what is it? There's

  663. seven colors, eight colors of that

  664. spectrum. I can't remember. Somebody

  665. smarter than me. You can tell me after

  666. service. Amen. But those colors that are

  667. seen, it's the different it's that in

  668. that refraction of light.

  669. >> Amen. that passes through that water and

  670. it shows that color. And you say, "What

  671. is that, preacher?" Well, I wrote this

  672. down in my Bible.

  673. The rainbow is this. It's the light of

  674. God's eyes shining through the water of

  675. his word, showing us the colors of his

  676. infinite grace.

  677. It is the light of his eyes shining

  678. through the water of his word showing us

  679. the colors of his infinite grace. You

  680. see the rain rainbow reminds me that God

  681. is always looking.

  682. >> Because anytime you see a rainbow, this

  683. is what it should tell you. It should

  684. remind you that that rainbow is not just

  685. for you, but it was for him.

  686. >> Amen.

  687. >> And when God sees that rainbow, he

  688. remembers the covenant that he made with

  689. Noah. And he said, "I'll never again

  690. flood the earth." Amen.

  691. >> I will never again doom the human race

  692. because of their sinfulness.

  693. And boy, you ought to be glad of that

  694. this morning.

  695. >> Amen.

  696. >> You realize you could have been born in

  697. that age,

  698. >> right?

  699. >> We could have been born at any time in

  700. history. I could have been born into a

  701. family that didn't know God.

  702. >> But God put me where I was for such a

  703. time as this and saved me. Saw fit to

  704. give me life.

  705. >> Amen. And when I see a rainbow, it

  706. reminds me that God's looking. You say,

  707. "Preacher, how is that scripture?" Well,

  708. let me just remind you of what the Bible

  709. says about Noah. You see, God was

  710. watching Noah. Notice what the Bible

  711. says in Genesis 7, Genesis 7 and verse

  712. number one. And the Lord said unto Noah,

  713. "Come thou and all thy house into the

  714. ark." I haven't been able to get away

  715. from this verse all through my study

  716. because of this one statement. Look what

  717. he says. For thee have I seen

  718. righteous before me.

  719. HE SAW the righteousness of Noah. THE

  720. BIBLE LITERALLY says in Genesis 6, WHAT

  721. DOES IT SAY IN VERSE NUMBER EIGHT? But

  722. Noah found grace where? In the eyes of

  723. the Lord. Oh friend, do you UNDERSTAND

  724. THAT THE EYES OF GOD ARE SHINING DOWN

  725. UPON US TODAY? And he SEES THE

  726. RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT'S IN US, NOT OF OUR

  727. OWN WORKS, BUT OF HIS WILL INSIDE OF US.

  728. THE IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS

  729. CHRIST ON THE INSIDE. AND THAT RAINBOW,

  730. GOD LOOKS AT US THROUGH THAT RAINBOW OF

  731. HIS LOVE. AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE SEES? HE

  732. SEES US ALL THAT'S FORGIVEN. THAT SINS

  733. ARE FORGOTTEN. HE'S NOT THE SAME. WE'VE

  734. BEEN MADE DIFFERENT BECAUSE HE DON'T

  735. LOOK AT US.

  736. HE don't look at us outside of the

  737. rainbow.

  738. >> Amen.

  739. >> That rainbow is how God sees us.

  740. >> Amen.

  741. >> And let me say this. It's not seven

  742. colors. It's red.

  743. >> That's right. Amen.

  744. >> It's the blood.

  745. >> That's right. Amen.

  746. >> He saw Noah. Noah found grace in the

  747. eyes of the Lord. Thee have I seen

  748. righteous before me. God looked at that

  749. generation in verse 5 of Genesis 6. And

  750. God saw that the wickedness of man was

  751. great in the earth. He saw it. Sinner,

  752. listen to me this morning. God's

  753. watching.

  754. >> Amen.

  755. >> God is looking.

  756. >> Amen.

  757. >> He knows what you're doing.

  758. >> You may think you've got your parents

  759. fooled. You may think you got your

  760. friends fooled. You may think you got

  761. your husband or your wife or your mom or

  762. your daddy fooled. But let me tell you

  763. this morning, God's watching. Amen.

  764. >> He's looking. Well, let me say this to

  765. those of us who are saved. He's looking.

  766. >> Amen.

  767. >> You say, "What does that do for me?"

  768. Well, that ought to encourage you to

  769. live for him. But it also ought to help

  770. you to know that every time you're done

  771. wrong, every time you know that you that

  772. that somebody has has has misjudged you

  773. or misplaced you or disrespected you,

  774. YOU JUST KNOW THAT GOD'S WATCHING. AMEN.

  775. AND JUST BECAUSE YOU LIVE RIGHT AND DO

  776. RIGHT and talk right. AMEN. JUST BECAUSE

  777. THE WORLD DOES NOT RESPECT YOU, DO NOT

  778. FORGET THAT GOD IS LOOKING. AMEN.

  779. >> He's watching. The rainbow reminds me

  780. that God is looking.

  781. He says in verse number 16, notice the

  782. verse of Genesis 9. And the bow shall be

  783. in the cloud. What's that next phrase?

  784. And I will look upon it. God says, I'm

  785. going to look at it. And you know what

  786. it'll do? to remind me. Not that God

  787. could forget,

  788. >> but it's an emblem. It's a promise that

  789. he's looking.

  790. >> And I'll say this this morning. It's not

  791. only an emblem that God is looking, but

  792. second of all, I would say it's an

  793. emblem that God is longsuffering.

  794. You say, "How is that, preacher?" Well,

  795. you see, he gave those that generation,

  796. Genesis chapter 6, the Bible says that,

    Genesis 6 chapter mention

  797. you know, he said, uh, let's just turn

  798. there. He said, "My spirit shall not

  799. always strive with man." Genesis 6 and:e

  800. three. My spirit shall not always strive

  801. with man for that that he also is flesh.

  802. Yet his days shall be in 120 years. God

  803. even gave that wicked generation a space

  804. to repent.

  805. >> Amen.

  806. >> He gave them an opportunity to get right

  807. with him. But the whole time Noah was

  808. building that ark, there was no

  809. forgiveness that was received. They did

  810. not trust the Lord. But you know what?

  811. The same mercy that was offered before

  812. the ark was offered after.

  813. >> Amen.

  814. >> And God says it will be a rem or

  815. remembrance. Look, look at that. Verse

  816. 15. I will remember my covenant which is

  817. between me and you and every living

  818. creature of all flesh. And the waters

  819. shall no more become a flood. Notice

  820. that to destroy all flesh. You see, this

  821. is salvation.

  822. This covenant represented the fact that

  823. God would no more flood the earth again.

  824. Do you understand that? probably the the

  825. quickest way that the earth could be

  826. destroyed is by water.

  827. >> Amen.

  828. >> Do you realize that? And God says it'll

  829. never happen again.

  830. That is the longsuffering of God.

  831. >> Amen.

  832. >> You say, "How is that expressed,

  833. preacher?" Well, it's been some, you

  834. know, five at least 5,000 years since

  835. this event happened. And what's never

  836. occurred? There's never been a worldwide

  837. flood. There's never been a time where

  838. God judged the whole earth again. And

  839. I'll say this, there's coming a day when

  840. he's going to judge the world. But it

  841. ain't going to be with a flood.

  842. >> It's going to be by fire. Amen. But I'll

  843. say this. When God made his words, you

  844. know what? You can bet on it. This world

  845. will never be submerged with a flood

  846. again. You say, "What does that prove,

  847. preacher?" Well, the Bible says in the

  848. book of Peter, Peter said this. He said,

  849. "The Lord is not slack concerning his

  850. promise,

  851. >> as some men count slackness, but is

  852. long-suffering to usward, not willing

  853. that any should perish, but that all

  854. should come to repentance." And so this

  855. rainbow, when we see that, what does it

  856. represents? It represents that God is

  857. long-suffering, not with just you and

  858. me, but with every person.

  859. >> When you see a rainbow, you ought to

  860. remember that God's looking, but you

  861. also ought to remember that rainbow

  862. tells you, "Hey, God's patient.

  863. >> God's longsuffering."

  864. >> Amen.

  865. >> Because he don't want you to die and go

  866. to hell.

  867. >> Amen.

  868. >> He don't want you to die in judgment.

  869. >> That's right.

  870. >> And let me say this to you this morning.

  871. If you're here and you're lost, the

  872. wrath of God abides on you presently

  873. right now. You're now under the judgment

  874. of God. God is longsuffering. But I'll

  875. say this and I I'll be done this

  876. morning. This rainbow, when I say

  877. remember the rainbow, y'all to remember

  878. that God's looking. Y'all remember that

  879. God is long-suffering. But y'all to

  880. remember that God loves you.

  881. >> Amen.

  882. >> You say, "How is that, preacher?" Well,

  883. notice what the Bible says again. Verse

  884. 15. and I will remember my covenant

  885. which is between me and you and every

  886. living creature of all flesh, and the

  887. waters shall no more become a flood to

  888. destroy all flesh. Verse 17. And God

  889. said unto Noah, "This is the token of

  890. the covenant which I have established

  891. between me and all flesh that is upon

  892. the earth." Now, let's just think about

  893. this for a minute. Okay? I've already

  894. submitted to you that the rainbow God

  895. said, I'll I I'll put it in in my cloud

  896. and I'll see it and remember I remember

  897. my covenant. But you know, God could

  898. have made a rainbow that only he could

  899. see.

  900. And there is a rainbow that only he

  901. could see. I'm going to get there in

  902. just a minute. But you know what? That

  903. rainbow,

  904. probably one of the greatest phenomenon

  905. in all the world is a rainbow. And when

  906. we look at a rainbow, we see those

  907. colors. There's a lot of different

  908. things. You know, our world has

  909. corrupted that made it a image of pride

  910. when it is an image of promise. The

  911. least prideful thing that possibly could

  912. be in creation is a rainbow. And they

  913. take it and turn into the most worst

  914. perverted

  915. >> prideful thing that there is.

  916. >> I want to say this to you. It's not

  917. changed the purpose of the rainbow.

  918. >> God sees it. But you know who else sees

  919. it?

  920. We do.

  921. >> You say, "Preacher, how is that an

  922. evidence that God loves me?" Well,

  923. here's the evidence. God made a

  924. covenant. He don't need any help

  925. remembering it.

  926. >> That's right.

  927. >> Amen.

  928. >> Amen. He does not need any help

  929. remembering the fact that he made a

  930. promise that he's not going to flood the

  931. earth again.

  932. >> Amen.

  933. >> But you know what? You know who's

  934. forgetful?

  935. >> Amen.

  936. >> We are.

  937. >> And you know why every cloud has a

  938. rainbow?

  939. You say, "Preacher, I every cloud I've

  940. ever seen doesn't have a rainbow." At

  941. some point in every cloud, there's a

  942. rainbow where the light passes through.

  943. Y'all are not with me this morning.

  944. >> And every cloud where there's rain,

  945. there's a rainbow that passes through.

  946. And what does this what does this

  947. express? It's expressed to us that in

  948. spite of the fact God doesn't need it to

  949. remember, he put it up there so we could

  950. remember with him.

  951. He didn't just make it a rainbow that

  952. only he could see. And I'll say I'll say

  953. this. There's, you know, I'm going to go

  954. there in just a minute. Amen. But but

  955. when we think about think about him in

  956. heaven and he sees all things. The

  957. rainbow was for him. Amen. But in like

  958. manner, we're for him. We're created in

  959. his image. By him, for him, for his

  960. glory. Paul said it this way. Romans 11.

  961. For of him, through him, and to him are

  962. all things. That's what he said. last

  963. verse of Romans 11. So, we're we're his,

  964. too. The rainbow's his. But you know

  965. what? He lets us see it.

  966. >> And you know what? That ought to remind

  967. you

  968. >> that he loves you.

  969. >> Amen.

  970. >> Now, you remember that image that I gave

  971. you a minute ago talking about? He said,

  972. "I set my bow in the cloud and I said

  973. that cloud."

  974. Amen.

  975. >> See that rainbow?

  976. You know the only way you'll ever know

  977. that God loves you.

  978. >> Amen.

  979. >> This is the most beautiful thing you'll

  980. ever see in this life.

  981. >> The rainbow was a promise to Noah, but

  982. you understand to the church, this is

  983. our promise.

  984. >> Amen.

  985. >> This is the truth that we stand upon.

  986. And I think about this, you know, we we

  987. often make this statement. You ever

  988. heard, you know, we sing the song, the

  989. half hasn't been told. We believe that.

  990. We don't know the half of what's waiting

  991. for us.

  992. You ever thought about a rainbow? The

  993. biggest you can see is only about what?

  994. Half

  995. that rainbow when you go outside and if

  996. you go into an open field and the most

  997. beautiful rainbow I ever saw was at my

  998. mom and dad's house and they live there

  999. in Alageney County and Inis. Amen. If

1000. you know where Inennis is, you probably

1001. um well, I ain't going to say that.

1002. Amen. But anyway, Inis is a very small

1003. place. It's kind of like Robinsville.

1004. Amen. You know, God just don't he don't

1005. know where those people are at. Amen.

1006. But anyway, but on there there's a big

1007. old meadow strip goes for probably I

  1008. don't know, there's probably 75 or 80

1009. acres there and it's off down the

1010. holler. But the prettiest rainbow I ever

1011. seen was over the hill one day it had

1012. rained at mom and daddy's and it almost

1013. it looked like it was so large that it

1014. it was it almost looked like more than

1015. half. You ever seen one like that? It

1016. looks like the bottoms of it almost

1017. start coming back around. But you know

1018. what? It don't matter where you go,

1019. you'll never see one that makes a

  1020. complete circle.

1021. But you know in the scripture there is

  1022. one

1023. that makes a complete circle. And you

1024. say well what is that? Well I'm remind

1025. you of this truth that the image that we

1026. have we don't know the whole story.

1027. >> We don't understand all that Christ did

1028. for us. We don't know all that this

1029. promise entailed. You see God told Noah

1030. what it meant that he would never flood

1031. the earth again. But Noah didn't

1032. understand all that. He didn't

1033. understand the depths of God's promise.

  1034. But I'll say this. There's coming a day.

1035. >> Amen. When we do understand

  1036. Revelation chapter 4,

    Revelation 4 chapter mention

  1037. a man named John,

1038. many of us we would know him as the

  1039. apostle,

1040. John the beloved, the one the disciple

1041. whom Jesus loved in Revelation 4 and

1042. verse one, he said this. After this, I

1043. looked, and behold, a door was open in

1044. heaven. And the first voice which I

1045. heard was as it were of a trumpet

1046. talking with me, which said, "Come up

1047. hither, and I will show thee things

1048. which must be hereafter." This is an

1049. image of the rapture of the church is

1050. what this is. John is taken from this

1051. world to the next world. Verse two, and

1052. immediately I was in the spirit. Isn't

1053. that interesting that shows up first?

1054. Look what the Bible says. And behold, a

1055. throne was set in heaven, and one sat on

1056. the throne. That's God Almighty, just in

1057. case you didn't know that. Amen. Verse

1058. number three. And he that sat was to

1059. look to was to look upon like a jasper

1060. and a sard and stone. And there was a

1061. rainbow round about the throne in sight

  1062. like unto an emerald.

1063. When you look at that phrase roundabout,

1064. you know what that literally means? It

  1065. means a complete circle.

  1066. >> Amen.

1067. >> I'll tell you this. The world took that

1068. image of God and said there's a pot of

1069. gold at the end of it. I submit to you,

1070. you'll never find a little short man or

  1071. a pot of gold.

1072. >> But I'll tell you this, one day you'll

1073. find the other side of it.

1074. >> And you know what you'll be able to do?

1075. You'll be able to look right in the

1076. middle of it. And you know who you'll

  1077. find? You'll find God.

1078. >> You say, "What is What does that mean,

1079. preacher?" Well, at the center of his

  1080. promise is his person.

1081. You know what you find?

  1082. I'm telling you,

1083. >> this is good stuff. Amen. What you find

1084. when you see the whole rainbow? You know

1085. what you'll find? You find God.

  1086. >> Amen.

1087. >> In his most pure place.

  1088. >> Yeah.

1089. >> Without sin, exalted, and on his throne.

1090. >> And I'll say this, God made that

  1091. covenant that day.

1092. He made that covenant with Noah that

1093. day. But he knew there was coming a day

1094. when Noah and his family and the church

1095. of the living God would stand there and

1096. stand before him. And you know what

1097. would happen? They would behold not just

  1098. half, but the whole.

1099. >> You know what? We don't know it all now,

1100. but I'll tell you, one of these days,

1101. the promise is going to be made clear to

  1102. see that this book

1103. was all that we ever needed.

  1104. >> Amen.

1105. >> And I want to submit to you this morning

1106. as we stand, every heads bowed and every

1107. eyes closed for just a minute. I want

1108. you to remember the rainbow because it's

1109. an image of God's love.

  1110. It's a token

  1111. of the fact that

1112. God will never bring judgment

1113. again on the earth by a flood. And you

1114. say, "Preacher, what does that mean by

1115. that? If seeing the whole rainbow, what

1116. what does that mean?" Well, here's what

1117. it means. It means that you see God when

1118. he showed half the rainbow, it showed

1119. that judgment would never come by a

1120. flood. But you know what? But when John

1121. stepped foot in heaven and one of these

1122. days when we step foot in heaven for the

1123. last time, you know what's going to

1124. happen? Judgment's going to be over

  1125. with.

1126. >> Do you hear what I just said?

  1127. >> Amen. Amen.

1128. >> And you know what? That other half of

1129. the rainbow will show that judgment is

  1130. forever gone.

1131. >> Sin will be judged. Sinners will be

1132. judged. And the saints will be in the

1133. presence of God forever and eternity.

1134. and there'll never more be another

  1135. judgment. Thank you, Jesus.

1136. >> I want to ask you this this morning as

  1137. she begins to play.

1138. You see, you may go out those doors this

1139. morning and I don't know, there may be a

1140. rainbow just out those doors waiting on

1141. you. But I'll say this, you may live the

1142. rest of your life and never see another

1143. one with a physical eye. But I can tell

1144. you this, you've got one this morning in

  1145. your hands,

1146. more beautiful than anything the human

1147. eye has ever seen. invested is that

1148. promise that God Almighty has made to

  1149. man. Remember, the rainbow

1150. is the light of God's eyes shining

1151. through the water of his word, showing

1152. us the colors of his grace. Let me say

1153. this to you today, sinner. He loves you.

  1154. He loves you.

  1155. He's long-suffering with you. The reason

1156. that you're still here this morning, the

  1157. reason that you're in Meta's Baptist

  1158. Church this morning

  1159. is because he's longsuffering.

1160. But let me remind you, sinner, God is

  1161. looking

1162. and he knows your heart this morning.

1163. And I've got to ask you one more time.

1164. I got to ask you one more time. As your

1165. preacher, if you died right now, where

  1166. would you be?

  1167. You see, judgment's coming.

1168. We know that judgment's coming.

1169. And all those who don't know Jesus

  1170. will face the judgment.

1171. But let me say this. Those who've

1172. trusted him, they'll never know the

  1173. judgment of God.

1174. They'll never know what it's like to

  1175. suffer. They'll never know what it's

1176. like to feel the flames of hell.

1177. Let me ask you today, sinner. If you

1178. died right now, where would you be? You

  1179. say, "Preacher, I don't know where I'd

1180. be. I don't know if I died right now

1181. that I'd go to heaven." Anybody be

1182. honest this morning? You say, "Preacher,

1183. would you pray for me? I don't know. I'm

  1184. saved."

1185. Slip your hand up and I'll pray for you

  1186. this morning.

1187. Nobody's looking around but me. Just

1188. slip your hand up. Be honest between you

  1189. and God this morning.

  1190. Let me say this.

1191. You may fool all of us, but just

1192. remember God will always see.

  1193. He will always see.

1194. Let me say this to you, child of God.

1195. It's a comfort to know every time we see

  1196. a rainbow that we have a God who's

  1197. looking at us.

1198. We have a God who loves us and is

1199. long-suffering with us. You ought to

1200. rejoice in that today. Y'all rejoice. I

1201. tell you, there's nothing better in this

1202. life knowing that for every mistake we

1203. make and we fail daily. Can I get a

1204. witness this morning? We fail daily.

  1205. >> Amen.

1206. >> For every mistake that we make, God's

  1207. still long-suffering.

  1208. >> Amen.

1209. >> Because he will not forget his promise

1210. and he's never forsaken us. He'll never

1211. leave us. You can trust him today.

1212. Father, thank you for this truth today.

  1213. God, I'm thankful that

  1214. Lord, the rainbow,

1215. God's an image of your perfection,

1216. but Lord, more than an image of your

1217. perfection, God, as it's perfectly

  1218. proportionate, and Lord, perfectly

1219. pictured in its colors, but God, it's an

  1220. image of your promise,

1221. Lord. How perfect our salvation is, God.

1222. How perfect our redemption and our

1223. deliverance is, God. That you made a way

1224. for us. And Lord, you had it all planned

1225. out. God, you knew how we would choose.

1226. You knew how we would live. But Lord,

1227. instead, in spite of all of that, you

1228. chose to love us. You chose to look to

1229. us. And Lord, you said if we look to

1230. you, you said, "Look unto me all the

1231. ends of the earth. Be ye saved. For I am

1232. God and there's none else." And Lord,

1233. may we look to you today. May sinners

1234. look to you today and be saved. Lord,

1235. may the church of God look to you once

1236. again and rejoice. Lord, we thank you

1237. for what you've done in our midst. Thank

1238. you for this precious promise today. We

1239. ask it all in Jesus name. God's children

  1240. said,

  1241. >> "Amen." Thank

1242. >> Thank you for joining our service today.
