and chapter 10. Then put your finger

there and we'll turn to chapter 11 as

well. And uh

Genesis chapter number 10. And when you

find your place, if you would stand

tonight. I appreciate that hymn you

sang, brother. And uh probably if if not

the most powerful hymn ever been

written, one of the most powerful hymns

ever been written. And uh I know men of

God that uh wouldn't allow their church

to sing that last verse

because of how serious that is.

>> To the old rugged cross I will ever be

true.

>> It's shame and reproach

gladly bear.

>> That's right.

>> That's no small no small commitment,

church.

But I tell you what, when when you ever

get a look at that cross,

>> come on.

>> See it for what it really is, that's the

way you'll feel. Amen.

>> I really do. I appreciate you singing

that tonight and minding the Lord with

that, man. I bless the Lord for it.

Genesis chapter 10. I want to begin

Genesis 10 · chapter mention

reading in verse number eight. Genesis

Genesis 10 · chapter mention

chapter 10, verse number eight, and then

we'll read just a few verses and then

turn over to chapter number 11.

this evening. Thank you for being here

again tonight. Let's ask the Lord to

help us. Father, thank you for this time

and Lord, I pray you'd bless now the

reading of your word. God, we've come

before you tonight and we stand in

desperate need of help. I pray God that

you would help us.

>> Pray you'd move in our midst, get all

glory unto yourself and exalt your son,

magnify the word, and edify the church.

Well, thank you for what you do because

we ask it in Jesus name. Amen. Look with

me in verse number 8 of Genesis chapter

Genesis 10 · chapter mention

10. The Bible says, "And Kush begat

Nimrod,

and he began to be a mighty one in the

earth. He was a mighty hunter before the

Lord. Wherefore it is said, even as

Nimrod, the mighty hunter before the

Lord. And the beginning of his kingdom

was Babel and Eric and Akid and Ka in

the land of Shinar. Out of that land

went forth Asher and builded Nineveh in

the city Rahoboth and Kala. Notice with

me chapter number 11 and verse number

one.

And the whole earth was of one language

and of one speech. And it came to pass

as they journeyed from the east that

they found a plain land of Shinar there

and they dwelt there. They said one to

another, "Go to, let us make brick, and

burn them thorly." They had brick for

stone, and slime had they for mortar.

They said, "Go to, let us build us a

city and a tower, whose top may reach

unto heaven, and let us make us a name,

lest we be scattered abroad on the face

of the whole earth." And the Lord came

down to see the city and the tower which

the children of men builded. And the

Lord said, "Behold, the people is one,

and they have all one language, and this

they begin to do, and now nothing will

be restrained from them which they have

imagined to do. Go to, let us go down,

and there confound their language, that

they may not understand one another's

speech." So the Lord scattered them

abroad from thence upon the face of all

the earth, and they left off to build

the city. Therefore is the name of it

called Babel, because the Lord did there

confound the language of all the earth,

and from thence did the Lord scatter

them abroad upon the face of all the

earth. You can be seated this evening.

Thank you for standing.

Genesis chapter number 11 introduces us

to yet another page in the history of

the beginning years of the our world. Of

course, it's been some thousand years at

this time, probably near him unto 2,000

years, that our Lord here in the text

has allowed mankind to be on this earth.

And we would all agree tonight that it

has been the mercy of God that has

allowed man to stay here

>> because Adam and Eve sin in the garden.

God had to make them coats of skins. And

in mercy, he covered them. And he did

send them out of the garden. But he did

not take their life as he could have

done. He could have taken them out and

then in that moment, humanity would have

been done away with before it had ever

even started. But I'm thankful that he

didn't do that. And yet the more he

waited longsuffering, patient with each

generation, with each children, with the

sons of Cain that we talked about how

that they were all wicked and they all

had brought in themselves wickedness

into their life. And then we consider

the days of Noah and how the the

thoughts and intents of man's heart were

only evil continually. And now here on

the other side of the flood, on the

other side of Noah's arc, we find once

again another text, another story,

another history lesson. And let me just

say this tonight, you if you ain't

figured it out yet, that we're all the

same.

>> You're right.

>> Amen. You're robed in the same flesh

that Adam was and Cain was and Abel was

and Noah was. Amen. And all those other

men were. Amen. And when I come to this

text tonight, I want to give you just a

few things tonight by way of

introduction in this text and I'll give

you the thought and then we'll go home

this evening. And I notice when I come

to Genesis chapter number 11, the Bible

mentions there in verse number one, it

says, "And the whole earth was of one

language." Now I'm I made this emphasis

on the last time we preached out of

Genesis chapter number N concerning what

Noah had been entrusted with at this

point in time. The vast expanse of the

land. All was in his hand. And so

creation here was basically under his

control if you want to consider it that

way. God had given him dominion. And so

he had told them to be fruitful and

multiply. And as the lineage goes on in

chapter number 10, what we discover is

is the three sons of Noah, Shim, Ham,

and Japheth, all of their children are

mentioned in this genealogy of Genesis

chapter number 10. But there is one

child that stands out amongst all the

rest. And for reasons why we're going to

delve into in just a minute, they were

not good reasons. Amen. I guess we could

say if we look at him tonight uh the

text that I have read to you there in

Genesis 10, we could say uh that he was

effective in his earthly life. But I

want to give you something tonight out

of this text and then we'll move on and

get the message. We notice in Genesis

10, the Bible mentions this man by the

name of Nimrod. In Genesis 10 and verse

number eight, this man Cous begat

Nimrod, one of the firstborn sons there

of Ham. And the Bible says that Nimrod

began to be a mighty one in the earth.

His strength is highlighted here in the

text. His subtlety is highlighted in

verse number nine. He was a mighty

hunter before the Lord. He was able in

the field. That literally means and the

Bible says that there was even a

statement that is made after Nimrod in

the text. Wherefore it is said even as

Nimrod the mighty hunter before the

Lord. Now you may call your boy, Amen,

Nimrod. But just know what you're

calling him. It's not a good thing.

Amen. And uh let me just say this. All

right, let me get this off my head so I

can get to the message tonight. When we

think about this man, Nimrod, it is

mentioned in verse number 10 as his

strength is is revealed and his subtlety

is revealed. The statement that's made

about him, verse number 10, notice his

superiority is found in verse 10. And

the beginning of his kingdom, notice

this, was what? Babel. And so is

mentioned here. This man Nimrod, this

kingdom of Babel comes on the scene in

Genesis chapter number 11. And we know

the story tonight. You've probably heard

tell of the Tower of Babel. And I want

to give you this thought here this

evening. When you look up that name

Nimrod, it literally means this. It

means rebellion.

Nimrod's name speaks of a rebellious

son. Now, we have no history of this

man, Nimrod, other than what the Bible

tells us his name is and what happens to

the city that he is a king over in

chapter 11. And I want to give you this.

All right, get to the thought and we'll

be done tonight. Notice what the Bible

says in verse number nine. In verse

number nine of Genesis 11 or verse

number eight, so the Lord scattered them

abroad from thence upon the face of all

the earth, and they left off to build

the city. Verse N. Therefore is the name

of it called what?

>> Babel.

Now we consider the thought that

Nimrod's name means rebellion. Does

anybody know what Babel means tonight?

>> Means confusion.

And I want to preach on this thought for

just a little bit tonight if the Lord

would help me on why rebellion

brings confusion.

Why rebellion brings confusion. When I

look at this text tonight, what we are

discovering is is a another age that is

mentioned here in this chapter. It is

being pointed out to us here in this

text. The history of this man Nimrod and

his kingship in this chapter. And I want

to give you just a few truths out of

this text and then we'll be done

tonight. I noticed that this leader is

mentioned Nimrod. They there's one

language that is mentioned in verse

number one. There is a land that is

mentioned in verse two. Look what the

Bible says. And it came to pass as they

journeyed from the east that they found

a plane in the land of Shinar and they

dwelt there. And so the emphasis is that

they are journeying east. The Bible says

they are journeying from the east, but

translated it literally means they are

journeying toward the east. in this text

they are going. If you look at a a

geographical map and you were to view it

this way, um if you were to look at the

city of Jerusalem, of course that's not

present in this text, but where Egypt is

down here and you go north up to where

Jerusalem is, Shinar, the plane of

Shinar would be on the east. And this is

where the Bible says that all the people

in the text are journeying to. And I

noticed this phrase in verse number

three. Look what the Bible says. And

they said one to another, go to let us

make brick. And the first thing that I

notice in this text tonight is this. I

notice that there is a seeming unity

that is present in this text. You say,

"What do you mean?" Well, the Bible says

in verse number one that the whole earth

was of one language and what? And of one

speech. Now there's people we can unite

over a lot of things tonight. But when

you think about what you have in common

with people, you understand those two

truths mentioned in verse number one are

probably the most prevalent principles

of why there would be unity. You say,

"What is that?" Well, that word language

there, it speaks of the lip or the

dialect. That is how people speak. And

then the Bible says one language and of

one speech. So that is your words.

That's not only just the dialect, but

that is the words that are employed. And

so the entire face of the earth was

speaking here the language that was

given in the beginning. And so there is

unity on this. But isn't it interesting

that all of these people are journeying

together and they've decided to leave

where they were at originally and go to

this place together. But let me ask you

this. All right. What is the one command

that God gave to this generation of

people?

What's the one command God told Noah? Be

fruitful and what?

>> Multiply and what? Replenish the earth.

Now, we know tonight the earth was more

than the land of Shinar.

And you say, "Preacher, why does

Nimrod's name mean rebellion?" Well, I

don't think Nimrod's name speaks so much

of rebellion against his father. I don't

think it has anything to do with Kush. I

don't think it has anything to do with

Ham or even Noah, but I think his

rebellion was against God. And when I

consider this text, what we find is that

this land, these people obviously

according to what is told us in chapter

10 are being led by this man Nimrod.

They have one language. They are headed

to one land. The Bible says in the text,

they have one labor. The Bible says in

verse three, they said one to another,

"Go to let us make brick and burn them

thorly, and they had brick for stone,

and slime had they for mortar." And let

me just say this tonight, you need to be

careful what you're yoking up with.

>> You're right.

>> All right. You need to be careful to

lock arms with everything that comes

down the pipe. Amen. And let me say this

to you tonight. Just because something's

been good or been right in the past,

don't mean it's still right. Because

things change,

>> right?

>> Things happen. life moves on. Sin comes

present. And you know what? We're not

able to always do all the things that we

once did. And we're not always able to

fellowship with all the same people that

we once fellowship with. Amen. Because

people are not faithful. There's only

one who's faithful, and that is God.

>> You're right.

>> BUT YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL about who

you're yoking up with. Because if you're

not careful, you'll be yoking up with

somebody who was once obedient, but now

they've become rebellious.

>> You're right. And I want to give you the

markers tonight on why rebellion brings

confusion. We notice this fact that

there is seeming unity. And when

somebody who is rebellious, what they're

going to have, what what's going to

happen with them, the number one thing

you're always going to find about them

is they're going to seek unity.

>> You're right.

>> People from the outside of this church,

amen, that are not here anymore, what

they're going to try to do is they're

going to try to grab you and pull you to

them.

>> You're right.

>> They're going to try to put their hook

in you. Amen. And pull you out. You say,

"Preacher, how do I know when they're

not right?" Well, when they're trying to

pull you away from the things of God,

>> you're right.

>> When they're trying to get you to do

things that are against that book right

there. Amen. And there's people, and I

understand tonight what pastors mean,

when they say this, when somebody's

trying to get you to turn on the man of

God, you need to turn and walk away from

them. And let me say this, as long as

I'm preaching the truth, that's right.

Amen. You shouldn't let anybody pull you

away from my influence. as long as I'm

staying in that book. But the very

second I step out of that book, you have

every right to walk away from me.

>> Amen. But here, let me tell you this

tonight. All right? When somebody's

TRYING TO PULL YOU AWAY from the church,

when somebody's trying to pull you away

from the faith, when somebody wants to

single you out and they're seeking

unity, you better check her up, friend.

You're

>> right.

>> Amen.

>> You better check her up. We don't

procelite people here at Meadows Baptist

Church.

>> Amen. We don't go to other church church

members houses and tell them your church

ain't good enough. You need to come to

our church.

>> God ain't within a thousand miles of

that. And that ain't where I thought I'd

be preaching at tonight. But it works.

Amen. I'm saying when they're seeking

unity, Nimrod is obviously leading this

group of people. They've come to this

land. They have one language. They're

undertaking labor in this text. And let

me say this. Second of all, what you'll

notice, and I've already butchered this

outline, but I'm just going to preach

tonight. Amen. I notice not only they're

they're seeking uh they're they're

they're seeking unity, but there's also

a sinful undertaking that's present. The

Bible says in verse three that they are

making brick. The Bible says they're

making brick. They had brick for stone

and slime had they for mortar. And you

notice the burning that's mentioned in

the text. There is these pavers that are

pointed out. These brick that is

literally asphalt stones is what that

is. heated up uh asphalt that's put

together. And you say, "Preacher, did

they have asphalt plants during that

day?" No, they didn't have asphalt

plants. Amen. But they had these stones

that would they would use to heat up.

And what it would literally do, that

process of heat would create these

pavers. And then they would, the Bible

says in verse three, they had brick for

stone and slime had they for mortar. And

that is pitch. That is what they would

find in the valley. You can actually

turn, I believe it's to the book of

Genesis, chapter number 14, and you'll

find that the two kings of Sodom and

Gomorrah, they they actually got killed

in a slime pit. Amen. They fell over in

one, and that's what killed them. Amen.

They some preach right there, but I'm

not going to get on that. Amen. But I

noticed their burning in this text. I

also noticed their building. You say,

"Preacher, I don't see anything sinful."

Just stay with me. I'm going somewhere.

The Bible says in verse four, "And they

said, go to let us build us a city and a

tower whose top may reach unto heaven,

and let us make us a name, lest we be

scattered abroad upon the face of the

whole earth." So there is the burning

here. They are using these brick and

this pitch to make about this this

building, this tower. But then the

building is mentioned in verse number

four. They said, "Let us build us a

city." They're desiring residency, but

they're all not only desiring a place of

residence. They're also desiring a place

for religion. The Bible said they said,

"Let us build us a city and a tower."

This tower was going to be the

centerpiece of this city that they were

going to be living in. Now, remember,

Nimrod is the one at the head of all

this. All right? And he's in complete

and total rebellion against God. And so,

what are they building? They're building

a city that's full of politics based on

position. And at the very center of that

thing, it's full of pride.

>> You're right.

>> You say, "Preacher, how is that?" Well,

notice the terminology that's mentioned

again in the verse. Let us build us a

city and a tower whose top may reach

unto heaven. Now, that does not mean

tonight that they were trying to build a

a a tower that would go all the way to

heaven where God is. And that makes for

good understanding for young people when

you're trying to explain them this text.

But what that literally means is is

they're going to say the top of this

building is heaven.

>> You're right.

>> This tower, the top of it, and and one

writer said it this way. He said it's

for uh stargazing,

signs of the zodiac,

things that are in the celestial world.

And you understand that's what

Babylonian worship's founded upon.

And there's no coincidence this city was

called Bab.

>> This city in the text, the Bible says

they are building this tower. I notice

not only their burning, they're

building, but I noticed their branding

in the text. Look what the Bible says.

And let us make us a name. They wanted

their own name. They wanted their own

brand. What is that? They needed a

label. You're

>> right.

>> I'm going to preach in a minute. All

right. I'm going to give you the text

and I'm going to go back and preach it.

Amen. They needed a label. Why did they

need a label? Lest they ever be lost.

Look what the Bible said. Lest we be

scattered abroad upon the face of the

whole earth. You say, "Preacher, why was

this a sinful undertaking?" Well, I'll

say it was a sinful undertaking because

of their leader. Number one. But I'll

say it's a sinful undertaking because of

what they love. You see, what has

happened in this text is is the people

have fallen lock, stock, and barrel into

what America has fallen into. into this

modernday humanistic church world that

we're living in. You're

>> right.

>> This ecumenical garbage that we're

seeing where everybody gets together and

says, "Kumbai, y'all, let's hold hands

and let's just say Jesus loves you." And

I don't care if you mean it's Allah or

Buddha or whoever. We'll just say Jesus.

Amen. And we'll call. YOU SAY, "HOW IS

THAT?" WELL, notice the text. The Bible

says they're burning. I know there's a

lot of churches this morning. If you

were to look at their service, it looks

like they're on fire.

>> You're right. Amen. They got the man,

they got it moving. There's people,

there's professions left and right,

baptisms left and right. There's all

types of different activities going on.

And man, we'll talk about they'll talk

about how God's moving and GOD'S

WORKING. BUT THEY DON'T KNOW THE FIRST

thing about God's presence.

>> You're right.

>> Amen. I wish somebody helped me preach

tonight. I'm saying they're burning, BUT

I'LL SAY THIS. THEY'RE NOT ONLY BURNING,

but they're building.

>> Right.

>> They're building new buildings every

year. They're building this this club

and and that small group and this sale

group and they're they're they're

they're moving on and going forward

doing all they're burning. They're

building and their branding. They've got

their brands. They've got their their

investment tactics. They've got their

their their soul winning soulinning

so-called DOWN TO A SCIENCE SO THEY CAN

GET PEOPLE TO COME TO THEIR CHURCH. BUT

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'LL FIND IN THE MIDST

OF THAT CROWD?

>> Come on.

>> They're empty.

>> That's right. Because you know what's

centered at the heart of that people?

Rebellion. You're

>> right.

>> And here's the truth tonight in this

text. All right. It's a sinful

undertaking because it wasn't started

right.

>> And here's what I

think tonight we've missed

as a whole. And I understand God can

take things that were done with cruel

intentions. We know Joseph, the Bible

said he told his brethren at the end of

his life, he said, "As for me, you

thought evil unto me, but God meant it

unto good." I realize that. Okay?

>> But you understand these ministries

>> in our country today that were started

with a rebellion against God,

>> just because somebody's tried to reform

that,

>> come on.

>> They can't erase the past.

>> Right?

>> They cannot erase the functionality

of who they really are.

And you say, "What does that come down

to for me tonight, preacher?" Well, I

want to remind you there's there this

this this place, this city is burning. I

was going to call it title of the

message tonight, the first church of

Babel. Amen. But the truth is tonight

when we look around, we see this on

every front. Places are burning, places

are building, there's there's branding,

you know, and I'm I'm going to stop and

preach. All right? Y'all not going to

say amen, so I'm going to preach. All

right?

I read a thing earlier today

studying for this message. Do you do you

realize how big the music industry is?

>> Come on, preacher.

>> The music industry in this country is

outrageous.

>> There is more money brought in from the

music industry in our country than

probably about anything else.

>> You're right.

>> But I saw this today. There is a

well-known church. I'll just call their

names Bethl. It's what it is. It's Bethl

Church, Bethl Music, Hill Song, Bethl,

all of that stuff. All right, let me

tell you just how much money they've

brought in in the last six years in

their church from their copyright music

program. Every time you sing one of

their songs, they're making money off of

it.

>> You're right.

>> And their music program has brought them

over $11 million.

>> $11 million. Now, that's not the last

six years, okay? It's in it's it's it's

higher than that.

And this is what you're going to find

about this type of religion. When you

get to its core, you know what you

discover? Rebellion.

>> You're right.

>> They deny who God is.

>> They deny what God does.

>> They deny everything that God says in

his word.

>> You're right.

>> They don't believe this Bible.

>> That's right. And when I look at this

text tonight, what I'm finding is it all

comes back to corrupt leadership. And

you say, "Preacher, where is it

heading?" Well, this place is burning.

They've got a a work going on. They're

building. Everybody's united together.

They've even got a brand. They've got a

label. Let's somebody come and tear them

apart. But notice verse number five.

Somebody shows up.

>> That's right.

>> Look what the Bible says. And the Lord

>> Yeah.

>> came down.

>> YOU'RE RIGHT. THE LORD CAME DOWN to see

the city and the tower which the

children of men builded. And the Lord

said, "Behold, the people is one, and

they have all one language. And this

they begin to do, and now nothing will

be restrained from them which they have

imagined to do. Go to let us go down and

there confound their language that they

may not understand one another's

speech." Now, remind you this, all

right? To notice somebody who's

rebellious. Number one, they're seeking

unity. All right. Number two, there

there's a sinful undertaking is is

involved. They're going to ask you to do

something that you have no business

doing. But I'll say this thirdly, what

you going to see about that outfit? Is

there going to be a sudden undermining

that takes place?

>> You're right. Come on.

>> Something's going to come in and jerk

the rug right out from under that crowd.

And you say, "How is that?" Well, in

this text, it's God shows up. Amen. Let

me JUST SAY THIS. JUST BECAUSE

everything looks all right on the

outside don't mean it's all right on the

inside. SOMEBODY SAY AMEN. JUST BECAUSE

it looks good and smells GOOD AND TASTES

GOOD DON'T MEAN IT'S FROM GOD.

>> RIGHT?

>> Matter of fact, when God shows up in

this check text, the burning stops, the

building stops, and the branding all

stops. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS? GOD BUST

that thing up right in the middle.

>> He just bust it all to pieces.

>> You know what he does? He attacks what

their unity is based on,

>> right? I'm going somewhere. Stay with

me.

>> You see what happens out of their

burning building and branding? You know

what? They end up with brokenness.

>> The Bible says in verse 5, the Lord is

witness. He came down to see. Verse

number six, his word is the Lord said,

behold the people is one and they have

all one language. And this they begin to

do. Now nothing will be restrained from

them which they have imagined to do. And

then his will is revealed in verse 7. Go

to let us go down and there confound

their language that they may not

understand one another's speech. You

say, "Preacher, what happens in this

text?" Well, number one, I'd say their

plans got broken up.

>> Right?

>> The Bible says in the text, what does

the Bible say? The Bible says in verse

number eight, "And they left off to

build the city."

When God shows up, business quit. You're

>> right.

>> You want to know a true true church from

a fake one?

Just let God show up.

>> Amen.

>> Does business pick up or does business

shut down?

>> You're right.

>> I'll tell you this. There's a lot of

churches across this country. If God

showed up, they'd close doors.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> You won't hear that preached much, but

boy, it's the truth.

>> You're right. I think there's a ministry

in this day and time. We've got so many

false thoughts. I mean, illegitimate

churches got kabad had kabad rode over

the door for years and God sends a man

in there to shut it down, not to build

it up,

>> right?

>> I've seen it before.

>> Yeah.

>> You say, "How is that when the people's

united together an error?"

>> Jesus never come to unite anybody.

>> He said, "I came to bring a sword."

>> That's right. You're right.

>> Said a man at variance against his

father and his mother. Jesus said, "I

didn't come to bring peace." And here's

the thing about it. When unity is

broken, here's what happens. ALL THOSE

PLANS, ALL THAT BURNING and building and

branding, EVERY BIT OF THAT WENT OUT THE

WINDOW.

>> You're right.

>> And you know what's going to happen when

all of that crowd blows up that music

industry? Somebody's going to pocket all

the money and nothing will ever be said

about it.

>> Right.

>> Amen.

>> Their plans got broken up. But I'll say

this, this is the sad part. The plans

wasn't the only thing got broken up. The

people got broken up. You're

>> right.

>> Look what the Bible says. Verse number

eight. What's that first phrase? So the

Lord scattered them abroad. You say,

"Preacher, well, God did that." He had

to.

>> You're right.

>> He had to. God forbid the day ever come

at Meadows Baptist Church when God has

to bust us apart.

>> Amen.

>> You know why he'd have to? We got united

in error.

>> You're right.

>> If we decided we was going to go against

God, God told them to be fruitful and

multiply. Instead of going out and

replenishing earth, you know what they

did? They decided to get together.

There's a principle in the Bible that

says, "Woe to them that join house to

house."

>> You're right.

>> That city living, you ever wonder why so

much stuff goes on in the city?

>> There's a biblical curse on it.

>> You're right.

>> Amen. Now look, I'm not just saying that

cuz I'm a country boy and I am to the

bone.

>> But I'll tell you this right now. There

is a biblical curse on that.

>> That's the reason why the cities of this

nation are wicked.

>> You're right.

>> It's the reason why the most sin that

goes on in our country in the alleyways,

in the darkness of night, it's in the

city.

>> You're right.

>> There's a curse on it. THERE'S BROKEN

PEOPLE. GOD HAD TO SCATTER THEM BECAUSE

THEY WOULD NOT LISTEN.

>> AMEN.

>> They decided what they were going to do

and they were not going to turn back.

But this is the saddest part. You see,

there was broken plans. There was broken

people. The Lord scattered them. But

I'll tell you this. This is the saddest

thing about this text. There was a

broken place. Notice verse nine.

Therefore, is the name of it called

Babel.

The name of it is called Babel. You see

tonight, this city was named this way

because of how it ended.

Have you ever been around somebody that

their life story was how they failed?

>> Yeah.

>> You know, we talked about somebody just

week or so ago

about how, you know, failure sometimes

is final.

Babel was a city that was left decimated

and unfinished

because the people were rebellious

against God.

>> You're right.

>> And I notice in this text, the Bible

says, "Therefore is the name of it

called Babel." And you know what city

follows the line all the way through the

scripture and is going to be the last

city that's judged in the book of

Revelation?

It's Babylon.

>> This city will never get saved. This

city will never be revived. This city

will never be restored. And you say,

"Preacher, what's the driving force of

your message?" Well, I've said all that

to say this, this scattered message I've

given you tonight. Those that are

seeking unity, those that are a part of

a sinful, wanting you to be a part of a

sinful undertaking, they will have a

sudden undermining. But I'll say this.

At this moment in time, there is a

standing. Listen to me. There is a

standing ultimatum.

>> You're right.

>> You say, "What is it?" Well, notice the

text again. Verse number nine. Therefore

is the name of it called Babel, because

the Lord did there confound the language

of all the earth, and from thence did

the Lord scatter them abroad upon the

face of all the earth. You say,

"Preacher, what's the standing

ultimatum?" Rebellion brings confusion

because God will not allow somebody to

rebel against him and get by.

>> You're right.

>> Any city that wants to rebel against

God, God says, "I'll scatter you."

>> You're right.

>> What'd he do to Sodom and Gomorrah?

burn it to the ground. What did Jesus,

he preached to those cities there in the

New Testament, Capernaum, remember what

he said, thou Capernaum shall be cast

down to hell because he said the mighty

works were done in thee. He said that if

they were, he said the mighty works that

were done in thee were done in uh the

other city he was mentioned there. He

said they would have repented in dust

and ashes and he said you rejected God.

Here's what I'm saying tonight. This is

the driving force of the message. The

ultimatum is this. If you rebel against

God, God will destroy you.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> Notice the text again. Therefore, the

name of it is called Babel because the

Lord did there confound the language of

all the earth. You see, there's a change

that took place that day that's never

been reversed.

>> You're right.

>> You see, up to this point, what' your

Bible say in chapter 11 verse one? The

whole earth was of one language and of

one speech. Science wants you to believe

that man and our progression

and our evolution,

we've come to the place where we speak

more languages because we're more

diverse and more special. You know,

that's that's what they want you to

believe. No, if it hadn't been for this

event, we'd all still be talking the

same language.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> And it would be the language that God

gave Adam in the garden.

>> What that is, I don't know. Probably

Hebrew. But I'll tell you this, God had

to divide them up,

>> right? And and you say, "Preacher, what

is that?" Well, one preacher said it

this way. I'd rather be divided by truth

>> than united in error.

>> You're right. That's good.

>> Amen.

>> Right.

>> Amen.

>> I'd rather have nobody with me.

>> Come on.

>> And be right with God.

>> That's good, preacher.

>> Than have everybody with me.

>> That's right.

>> And be wrong with God.

>> Amen.

>> You say, "Preacher, what's the question

tonight? Where do you stand? You know, I

think what we're seeing in our church is

this very thing.

We're seeing people

that have come eye to eye, toeto toe

with the truth. And you know what

they've had to do? Had to make a

decision.

Get right

>> or walk away.

>> You're right.

>> Let me ask you. You're standing at

truth's door tonight. What are you gonna

do?

>> You say, "How do I know it's rebellion?"

Well, when it's seeking unity,

you see, here's the thing about it. I

desire unity.

Bible tells us the book of Ephesians,

we're to preserve unity. Says we're to

keep unity in the bond of peace. Bible

says unity of the church is just

something that happens. You say, "What

do you mean by that?" Well, if I get

filled with the Holy Ghost of God and

somebody else is filled with the Holy

Ghost of God, you know what's going to

happen?

>> There's going to be unity,

>> right?

>> Because my unity is not with my flesh to

your flesh.

>> You're right.

>> My unity is with the God in me to the

God in you.

>> That's right.

>> You know why we don't have unity in the

church? You know why people don't yoke

up with us? It's not because we failed

to unite with them. It's because they

failed to allow God and them to hook up

with the God in us. And you know what

they do? They shut God out.

>> You're right.

>> And so, you know what they have to do?

They have to walk away.

>> Some, it's because God's not in them.

>> John said it this way. He said, "They

they went out from us because they were

not

>> of us."

>> Right?

>> And here's the truth. You say,

"Preacher, how does that go with you,

Tyler? You know why we dealing with so

much confusion? I have had I've heard

more people This is real candid message

tonight. I'm just being real, okay? I'm

just just being real. Can I be real? Is

that all right?

>> I've had more people tell me in the last

six months, I don't understand.

>> You're right.

>> I don't know what's happening.

>> You're right.

>> I don't get it. What is going on?

>> Rebellion

>> causes confusion.

>> You're right.

>> And it ain't rebellion against me.

>> Amen.

>> It's not me.

>> You're right.

>> I'm not the standard of good and morally

right. People will make it about me

because here's the thing. I have to

stand the closest to that book.

>> You're right.

>> But I'm not the problem.

>> You're right.

>> Rebellion

causes confusion.

>> You're right.

>> And you know what they'll do? They'll go

out there and build their city.

>> You're right.

>> They'll find them a dwelling place with

people that'll relate to them.

>> They'll find them a dwelling place.

They'll build them a tower that's their

heaven.

>> You're right.

>> Because their heaven's on earth.

>> Amen. Amen. Anybody hear the preacher?

Did anybody hear what I just said? Their

heavens ON EARTH AND THEY'LL BUILD THEIR

TOWER ON THIS SIDE. BUT HEY FRIEND, MY

HEAVEN'S NOT DOWN HERE.

>> Hey friend, MY HEAVEN'S WHERE GOD IS.

AMEN. AND I DON'T MY CITY'S NOT HERE

EITHER. AMEN. BLESS HIS NAME TONIGHT.

BOY, I FEEL A WIND ANOTHER COUNTRY ON

THAT. THIS WORLD AIN'T MY HOME. THANK

GOD. AND I AIN'T DRIVING MY TENT PEGS

DOWN HERE. AND THEY CAN BACK UP. THEY

CAN WALK AWAY. BUT GOD HELP ME. AND GOD

HELP YOU TO NOT WALK AWAY IN REBELLION

BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT'LL HAPPEN? We'll

leave behind a mess of people.

>> You're right.

>> Who's confused?

>> I told a brother in this church the

other day. That's what I said. I said I

said the devil tells me all the time I'm

not saved.

>> Tells me I'm not saved. Tells me you're

a phony and a fake. You're a joke what

you are. You know what? Hey, some days I

buy into it. Yeah,

>> maybe I didn't do it right.

>> Right.

>> But you know what? That's my problem.

>> You're right.

>> Wasn't about what I did.

>> Here's what I've come down to in my

life. This is where you'll have to get

to if you're ever going to have victory

over slow foot.

>> I said I would rather, and do not follow

that with me when I say this to you, but

I would rather die and go to hell

>> than to leave somebody behind confused.

>> Amen. Come on, PREACHER.

WELL, HE PREACHED to me. HE WAS

PREACHING THE DAY I GOT SAVED.

You say, "Preacher, how is that?" I'M

SAYING, "I'M NOT SERVING GOD FOR ME."

>> That's right.

>> I ain't serving God for any of you. I'M

SERVING GOD BECAUSE HE TOLD ME TO. AND

AS LONG AS HE'S SPEAKING TO MY HEART,

THE DEVIL CAN SAY WHATEVER HE WANTS TO.

HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO. BUT AT

THE END OF THE DAY, I KNOW THERE'S A

BIBLE I CAN GO BACK TO, AND IT'LL GIVE

ME A PLACE TO PUT MY FOOT. IT DOESN'T

MATTER WHAT HE SAYS. IT DON'T MATTER

WHERE I FIND MYSELF. I'M AS SURE AS SURE

CAN BE TONIGHT BECAUSE I KNOW IN WHOM I

HAVE BELIEVED AND HE PROMISED IT TO ME.

AND I CAN ASSURE YOU, HE'S GOING TO KEEP

HIS PROMISE.

>> And I am not.

I don't want any of these little babies

in here to grow up one day and say, "I

used to have a preacher preach to me."

>> Amen, brother.

>> But he got in sin and got out of the

way.

>> Come on.

>> I used to have a preacher to tell me the

truth, but he got confused himself and

messed up his life.

>> You're right.

>> This ain't like I normally preach. Y'all

know that.

Do you realize, church, that there is

people who will live and die in Stokes

County, who will never sit in a service

like we sit in this morning.

>> You're right.

>> Like we sat in last week.

>> They'll never hear a testimony.

Some of them may never even hear a

gospel presentation.

>> You're right.

And you how how could we

you've been y'all some of y'all been

here Miss Bean? How long you been here?

>> 56 years. Miss Ola, how long how long

you been here?

>> Yeah.

>> So I went and started

that I have been going through for a

long time.

>> I don't know. Some of you probably been

here longer.

Let me be real honest with you. Why you

going to quit now?

>> Amen.

>> Come on, preacher.

>> I can't I I I cannot get this burden off

my heart.

>> Come on.

>> I can't. It's been on me for the last

two months. I don't know who is next,

but God is saying to you, don't quit.

>> You're right.

>> He thought enough of you

>> when all them other people started

walking out. He thought enough of you to

send a message to my heart over and over

and over again for the last few months

to say to you, don't quit.

>> Amen.

>> This is not this preacher pleading with

you. Can I just be real honest with you?

My flesh here of late, I've had to get

to the point in my flesh where I just

can't care.

You can get mad at me if you want to.

>> You're right.

>> But when you have people talk about you,

>> come on, preacher. and say things to

you, you have to shut your flesh down.

>> You're right.

>> Completely.

>> The only thing in me that cares is the

God in me.

>> Amen.

>> Blessing.

>> If you go, that's your business.

It is. But God sent you a message.

>> Yeah.

>> Amen.

>> Rebellion

always

>> causes confusion.

>> You're right.

You say, "Preacher, how dare you say you

don't care? You know I care."

>> Yeah, you're right.

>> I wouldn't stay up at night and cry.

Told my wife through some of this. I've

asked her, "Babe, what have I done? Will

you tell me what I've said? Is that not

what I've told you?"

>> Come on, preacher.

>> God, help me. If I've done something in

my flesh, you forgive me.

>> Amen.

>> Forgive me.

I can tell you from my heart,

rebellion brings confusion.

>> Amen.

>> I've told you about this man time and

time again.

This man's been heavy on my mind.

Pastor, preacher, years and years.

Decided he's going to quit. Done with

it.

He's a member of the Hell's Angel. Now,

I seen a thing just the other day, his

boy who was a preacher himself. He's

just a year two younger than me. Had a

picture with a big old margarita in his

hand. His Facebook profile.

You say, "What is it?" It rebellion

brings confusion.

>> You're right.

>> Amen.

>> I'm tired of looking at people and

wondering what happened.

>> You're right.

>> What's the problem? Why? What went

wrong?

Don't be that person.

>> Amen.

>> Don't be that person because you know

what? You'll have a city behind you.

>> You're right.

You'll go out there and you'll build

your city. You'll build your tower.

And what you're going to find is God's

going to break it all up one of these

days.

>> You're right.

>> Every head bowed and every eye closed.

I've delivered my burden tonight.

I've been just as honest with you as I

know how to be.

I talked to pastors every week of my

life. Probably talked to my dad more

than any of them.

And dad's told me himself.

And my daddy's always been the man with

the plan. He's looked at me and said,

"Son, I really don't know what to do."

I told him something one day. I said,

'Dad, I said, 'All we can do is preach

and leave the results to to the people

and to God.

And he told me the other day, he said,

'You know, he said, I and my daddy loves

people.

Better pastor than I could ever be. He

loves people.

He told me, he said, you know, he said,

I think you're right about that. He

said, "I'm just going to have to preach

to him cuz I can't do nothing else."

Cuz he tries to help him, tries to reach

out to him.

Let me say this. It don't matter. It

wouldn't matter if you had the best

pastor in this world

and he reached out to you and you had a

personal friendship with him every day.

If you decided in your mind that you was

done, it wouldn't matter how good of a

preacher you had. You're

>> right. You could still get up and walk

away if you get your eyes on God, right?

>> Off of God.

If you mess up, it'll not be God's

fault.

>> It'll not be God's fault,

>> right?

Father, I pray in Jesus name.

Lord, would you help us to decide?

Lord, help us to decide which side of

the fence we're going to get on them.

>> Lord, if we're going to do it right, are

we going to dillydally?

If we're going to really love you or if

we're just going to be lazy and sit back

and do nothing.

Lord, you told the church of Leadyia,

you said you're lukewarm.

I spew thee out of my mouth. I would

that you were cold or hot.

Lord, that's where we're living at.

Lord, I pray in Jesus name, God, if

there's somebody on the fence tonight, I

pray they'd make the decision.

Lord, I pray, Father, that

anything that I've said may be

misconstrued. I pray you'd clean that up

for me. And God, I didn't want to say

anything to hinder or hurt tonight, but

Lord, I just want to tell my heart.

Lord, you put it in there.

And God, I know if it grieves me, I know

it grieves you.

Lord, would you help us? Help us to be

obedient to you.

These are praying tonight, I got to ask

you this.

Say, "Preacher, I

I come tonight and preacher, it's been

weighing on me.

Preacher, it's been weighing on me.

Something been pressing on me to just

quit.

Try it maybe somewhere else."

Say, "Preacher, I I can't say that. I

can't admit to that. I tell you the you

might find some freedom you can't

understand.

>> If you'd be honest with God tonight, you

say, "Preacher, I was ready to quit."

Preacher, if you'll pray for me and God

will help me. I'm going to go on another

day.

I'm going to hang with it a little bit

longer.

You be honest tonight. Anybody here like

that?

Preacher, I just ready to quit.

Just be honest.

I'll pray for you tonight.

I'll tell you this, you don't have to

tell me.

I know God sent this message tonight

because you are.

And you know what Paul told the

Galatians church? He said, "Be not weary

and welloing.

Sometimes it's all you can do to get

here.

Don't quit coming."

>> Yes.

>> Sometimes it's all you can do to get up

out of bed and go another day. But don't

quit getting up.

>> Yes.

>> Don't quit picking your Bible up.

>> You say, "What will it be if I don't?"

It'll be rebellion's what it'll be,

right?

to put your Bible down

in your darkest hour,

to shut your prayer closet door

on the hard days,

to walk away.

The devil says it'll be easier, but let

me remind you,

it'll never be easier.

Because rebellion,

do you hear me tonight, church?

Rebellion always brings confusion.

Father, I pray in Jesus name once again.

Lord, would you help us tonight to

receive this truth? Help us not rebel

against you.

Draw us near unto you,

Lord, that we might not ever rebel. You

said in your word, rebellion is as the

sin of witchcraft.

Lord, let us not rebel against you,

but Lord, let us wait on you. And you

said, "They that wait upon the Lord

shall renew their strength." Lord, we

need a renewal. God, would you give us

that, Lord? I pray this sober warning

tonight will wake us all up

and help us be aware. Lord, we love you.
