  8. God.

  9. All right. If you have a Bible, invite

  10. you to turn with me to the book of First

  11. Kings. First Kings, chapter 3. When you

    1 Kings 3 chapter mention

  12. find your place, if you would stand in

  13. honor of us to the reading of God's

  14. word, First Kings, chapter 3,

    1 Kings 3 chapter mention

  15. when you find your place, if you would

  16. stand. Thank you for being here in the

  17. service today. We appreciate each one of

  18. you and pray that God would add a

  19. blessing to you this morning. And happy

  20. Mother's Day to all you mothers. Once

  21. again, want to preach here out of this

  22. chapter, give you the thought here after

  23. we read the text, then we'll pray. and

  24. ask the Lord to help us. And a little

  25. different text from Mother's Day is what

  26. God put on my heart. And uh you pray for

  27. me that the Lord will help us this

  28. morning. First Kings chapter number

  29. three. And let's begin reading in verse

  30. number 17. First Kings chapter 3 and

    1 Kings 3 chapter mention

  31. verse number 17. The Bible says, "And

  32. the one woman said, oh my Lord, I am

  33. this woman dwell in one house, and I was

  34. delivered of a child with her in the

  35. house. And it came to pass the third day

  36. after that I was delivered that this

  37. woman was delivered also. We were

  38. together. There was no stranger with us

  39. in the house, save we too in the house.

  40. This woman's child died in the night

  41. because she overlaid it. And she arose

  42. at midnight and took my son from beside

  43. me while thine handmmaid slept and laid

  44. it in her bosom and laid her dead child

  45. in my bosom. And when I rose in the

  46. morning to give my child suck, behold,

  47. it was dead. But when I had considered

  48. it in the morning, behold, it was not my

  49. son which I did bear. And the other

  50. woman said, "Nay, but the living is my

  51. son, and the dead is thy son." And this

  52. said, "No, but the dead is thy son, and

  53. the living is my son." Thus they spake

  54. before the king. Then said the king, the

  55. one saith, this is my son that liveth,

  56. and thy son is the dead, and the other

  57. saith, nay, but thy son is the dead, and

  58. my son is the living. And the king said,

  59. "Bring me a sword." And they brought a

  60. sword before the king. And the king

  61. said, "Divide the living child in two,

  62. and give half to the one, and half to

  63. the other." Then spake the woman whose

  64. living child was unto the king. Notice

  65. this. For her boughs yearned upon her

  66. son. And she said, "Oh my lord, give her

  67. the living child, and in no wise slay

  68. it, be but the others said, Let it be

  69. neither mine nor thine, but divide it."

  70. Then the king answered and said, "Give

  71. her the living child." And and no wise

  72. slay it. She is the mother thereof. And

  73. all Israel heard of the judgment which

  74. the king had judged. And they feared the

  75. king, for they saw that the wisdom of

  76. God was in him to do judgment. I want

  77. you to notice a phrase with me out of

  78. verse number 27. It's the thought of the

  79. message this morning. When the King

  80. Solomon says in verse 27, "Give her the

  81. living child and in no wise slay it."

  82. Notice this phrase, she is the mother

  83. thereof. And I want to preach with the

  84. help of the Lord this morning on that

  85. thought. She is the mother. She is the

  86. mother. And I want to give you some

  87. things out of this text on just how

  88. Solomon figured out that this lady was

  89. the mother of this child. Amen. Let's

  90. pray and ask the Lord to help us.

  91. Father, thank you God for this day, for

  92. your grace and your mercy. Thank you for

  93. allowing us to be in the house of God.

  94. And Lord, I realize a little different

  95. service today, God. But I know that you

  96. are the God of every service. And Lord,

  97. we invite you, Lord, into this service.

  98. We pray that you would help us now. And

  99. God, for every law center that's here

  100. this morning, I pray conviction, Lord,

  101. would settle in on their heart. Lord,

  102. for everyone that's not right with you.

  103. I pray, God, that they as well would be

  104. convicted, Lord, of their sinful life

  105. apart from you and be drawn near to you.

  106. And God, I pray this morning every

  107. mother would receive a blessing from

  108. this text. God, I thank you, Lord, for

  109. each one that's present today. And would

  110. you help us to receive with meekness the

  111. engrafted word, get all glory unto

  112. yourself and for what you do, we'll

  113. thank you for it because we ask it in

  114. Jesus' name. Amen. And amen. You can be

  115. seated this morning. Now, I know this is

  116. a different text to preach on Mother's

  117. Day this morning, but I don't want you

  118. to allow the text to turn you away from

  119. the point that I want to make out of

  120. these verses this morning. Now, let me

  121. lay the groundwork if I could just

  122. quickly for this message and we'll get

  123. on in the thought this morning. I notice

  124. in this chapter, this chapter is about

  125. Solomon. Now, King Solomon here has been

  126. anointed that son of David to reign in

  127. David said over the tribes of Judah and

  128. over Israel as a whole. And so, in this

  129. chapter, you'll find three points

  130. concerning Solomon. There is the desire

  131. of Solomon that is met in this text. The

  132. Bible says in chapter number three in

  133. the earlier part that Solomon desired

  134. wisdom and he desired to know the Lord

  135. and to draw near unto him. And out of

  136. that desire there was a dream that

  137. Solomon had. Several verses in this

  138. chapter is attributed under the dream

  139. that Solomon has in this text where God

  140. endused him with wisdom and not only

  141. wisdom but riches, glory and honor as

  142. the king over Israel in this text. But I

  143. think when we come to this chapter often

  144. times we consider the dream we often

  145. times consider to the desire of Solomon.

  146. But I think we fail to consider maybe

  147. the greatest point in this chapter and

  148. that is the discernment of Solomon that

  149. is highlighted in this chapter from

  150. verses number 16 down through the end of

  151. the chapter. The discernment of Solomon

  152. is mentioned in this text. Now out of

  153. this dream of Solomon in verse number 15

  154. it says that he awoke and behold it was

  155. a dream and so he comes back to

  156. Jerusalem and immediately after this

  157. dream there is a test that is placed

  158. upon Solomon and you see not only the

  159. dream of Solomon but you see the defiled

  160. sinners that come unto Solomon in verse

  161. number 16 the Bible says then came their

  162. two women that were harlots unto the

  163. king and stood before him and so these

  164. defiled sinners have come unto Solomon

  165. in this text after his dream. And then

  166. you notice the difficult situation that

  167. is present in verse number 17 as one of

  168. these women began to tell Solomon about

  169. the events that have taken place. Now

  170. mind you this this is a testing of

  171. Solomon's wisdom in this text and out of

  172. this difficult situation we find that

  173. there are two mothers in this text. Look

  174. what the Bible says. And the one woman

  175. said, "Oh my Lord, I and this woman

  176. dwell in one house, and I was delivered

  177. of a child with her in the house. And it

  178. came to pass the third day after that I

  179. was delivered that this woman was

  180. delivered also." So in this text, you

  181. find two mothers. You find two birds

  182. that are mentioned. You find two

  183. children that are mentioned in this

  184. text. And you say, "Preacher, how dare

  185. you preach on two harlots on Mother's

  186. Day?" Well, let me just tell you this

  187. this morning. They're mothers. You're

  188. right.

  189. >> Amen. And what you notice in this text

  190. is something that's true for all mothers

  191. this morning. Now, I want you to

  192. understand with me this morning. I don't

  193. want you to emphasize the sinful life

  194. that these women are living in. Because

  195. the truth of the matter is you and I are

  196. all sinners this morning. Let's just

  197. state the fact. Say, "Ma'am, they ain't

  198. none of us no better than any other of

  199. us." Say, "Ma'am," and we ought to

  200. remember who we are this morning. You

  201. say, "Preacher, well, I'm a good

  202. person." Well, you just ought to

  203. remember the Bible says that all have

  204. sinned and come short of the glory of

  205. God. Amen. And the wages of sin is

  206. death. Amen. But thank God, the gift of

  207. God is eternal life through Jesus Christ

  208. our Lord. And when I come to this text,

  209. I find two very different mothers.

  210. >> And I want to say this on the outset of

  211. the message this morning. All right.

  212. Motherhood has nothing to do with birth.

  213. >> You're right. Come on.

  214. >> Come on, preacher. Let me say this.

  215. Motherhood also has nothing to do with

  216. the behavior of children.

  217. >> You're right.

  218. >> Motherhood has nothing to do with birth.

  219. Because I've known women who had no

  220. children that were greater mothers.

  221. >> You're right.

  222. >> Than mothers who have had many, many

  223. children.

  224. >> You're right.

  225. >> And what we find in this text is a great

  226. contrast. I want to talk to you first of

  227. all concerning this one mother in the

  228. text. This mother is telling the story.

  229. We'll deal with the bad one first and

  230. then the good one at the end of the

  231. message. But we've stated the fact this

  232. morning that both of these ladies are

  233. mothers. One woman here in this text,

  234. she has a child. Three days later, this

  235. other lady in the text has a child. And

  236. the Bible says in verse number 18 that

  237. there there only two of them in this one

  238. house. Verse number 19, the Bible says

  239. this woman that's telling the story, it

  240. says this woman's child died in the

  241. night because she overlaid it. Now, I

  242. want you to note four things about this

  243. woman, first of all, this bad mother in

  244. the text. I note number one, this mother

  245. is careless. Look what the Bible said.

  246. This woman's child died in the night.

  247. What the Bible say? Because she what it

  248. say overlaid. You know what that means?

  249. It means that in her sleep, she had

  250. rolled over on top of her child and had

  251. smothered it to death in this text. And

  252. you say, "Preacher, how could she have

  253. done that?" Well, you understand in this

  254. day and time, they didn't have cribs and

  255. separate rooms. Amen. They had dirt

  256. floors. Amen. And the bed they had was

  257. the bed that the baby stayed in with

  258. them. Amen. And they didn't have

  259. infamil. So when the baby had to be fed,

  260. they had to be near to the mother. And

  261. so the carelessness of this mother, she

  262. had fallen asleep and somehow had became

  263. had gotten on top of this baby and

  264. smothered it here in the text. And so

  265. she is careless. But I note, not only

  266. you say, "Preacher, well that's bad

  267. right there, but let me just say this.

  268. It gets worse." Okay, notice what the

  269. text says. and she arose at midnight in

  270. verse 20 and took my son from beside me

  271. while thine handmmaid slept and laid it

  272. in her bosom and laid her dead child in

  273. my bosom. Now, this woman already, we've

  274. already thought in our mind, well, she's

  275. careless, but this could have been a

  276. mistake. This could have been something

  277. that, you know, it was just an accident

  278. and it happened. But what happens is the

  279. further we go in the story, we realize

  280. that this woman really just is careless.

  281. But I'll say it goes further than that.

  282. She's corrupt. Notice what the Bible

  283. says. and she arose at midnight and took

  284. my son from beside me while thine

  285. handmmaid slept and laid it in her bosom

  286. and laid her dead child in my bosom.

  287. Now, I don't know about you, but if if I

  288. any mother that I know, if a child had

  289. died in its sleep and a mother woke up

  290. and found that child lifeless, I know

  291. what would happen.

  292. >> There would be a shout.

  293. >> There would be screams, shrills, shrieks

  294. because the fear of LOSING THAT CHILD.

  295. BUT YOU DON'T SEE that in this text.

  296. >> Instead, the first thing that this

  297. mother does, she gets this child and

  298. goes into the room of this other mother

  299. and swaps the living child out for the

  300. dead one.

  301. >> You're right.

  302. >> Talk about corruption.

  303. >> Amen. Oh, friend. I could preach right

  304. there for a minute, but I'm going to

  305. move on. All right. I say this, she was

  306. careless. She was corrupt. But it gets

  307. worse. The Bible says in verse 21 that

  308. when the mother of the living child

  309. arose to give her child suck, behold it

  310. was dead. But when I had considered it

  311. in the morning, behold, it was not my

  312. son which I did bear. And the other

  313. woman said, notice this. Nay, but the

  314. living is my son, and the dead is thy

  315. son. Now, let's just get here where

  316. something all you women can identify

  317. with. When you have a baby, you know

  318. which which one's yours and which one

  319. ain't.

  320. >> Amen. Your husband may not.

  321. But you do, okay? You know which one

  322. belongs to you and which one doesn't.

  323. And what's amazing to me about this

  324. story is is that this woman is careless.

  325. She's not only careless, but she's

  326. corrupt so much she's not even thinking

  327. about a funeral for the child that she

  328. has lost, but instead she takes this

  329. dead baby and puts it in the bed with

  330. this other WOMAN AND TAKES HER child for

  331. her own. And then she has the audacity

  332. to say what she says in verse number 22.

  333. The dead one's yours.

  334. You say, "Preacher, what is that?" She's

  335. a charlatan is what she is,

  336. >> right? Amen.

  337. >> She's corrupt, but she's a liar.

  338. >> Right?

  339. >> The worst form of corruption. She lies

  340. about this child. And remember, Solomon

  341. has prayed for wisdom. He has prayed for

  342. discernment. And who is he? He's the

  343. king. And we come in this text. The

  344. Bible says that these two women have

  345. come to him here in the text. And I'll

  346. go ahead and give you the fourth point

  347. and then we'll talk about this good

  348. mother this morning. I'll preach about

  349. it for just a little while. You

  350. understand here out of this text, these

  351. two women have come to Solomon here in

  352. the text. And the Bible says when

  353. Solomon brings out the sword and says,

  354. "All right, let's divide the child in

  355. half and give one half to one mother and

  356. one half to another mother." And the

  357. Bible says that this bad mother, look

  358. what the Bible said in verse 26, the

  359. last phrase. But the other said, let it

  360. be neither mine nor thine, but divide

  361. it. This woman's not only careless,

  362. she's not only corrupt, she's not only a

  363. charlatan, she's a criminal.

  364. >> She's right.

  365. >> She want to murder this child.

  366. >> You say, "Preacher, she's not a mother."

  367. >> But she is, isn't she?

  368. >> That's right. You see, it's not the

  369. children that you have that make you a

  370. mother,

  371. >> right?

  372. >> It's not the husband that you have, the

  373. children that you've raised. It has

  374. nothing to do with the life that you've

  375. lived. But what I find in this text

  376. about this good mother is what shows us

  377. what real motherhood really is. And

  378. Solomon was able to say this in verse

  379. 27. He said, "She is the mother." I want

  380. to give you three things this morning

  381. about this woman that makes her the

  382. mother in this text. Now I notice here

  383. in the text we've already pointed out

  384. that both of these ladies were mothers.

  385. They both had children and one has died

  386. and the other is living and they are

  387. fighting over this living child. This

  388. one woman is careless. That's why her

  389. child died but she's corrupt not even to

  390. care to give her own child a funeral.

  391. But instead she goes and swaps him out

  392. for this living child. She's a

  393. charlatan. She lies about it in the

  394. presence of this woman. She lies about

  395. it in the presence of the king. And when

  396. the king asks, she doesn't only stop

  397. there, but she is willing to allow HIM

  398. TO TAKE THE life of this other baby. And

  399. here's what happened. She became

  400. jealous.

  401. >> Right?

  402. >> And so, you know what it was? It wasn't

  403. that she wanted the baby. She wanted the

  404. other baby dead.

  405. >> You're right.

  406. >> Because her baby was dead.

  407. >> You know what? That happens a lot in

  408. this day and time.

  409. >> Not literally, but figuratively

  410. speaking. But I note in this story, this

  411. woman here in the text, I notice first

  412. of all, you think about this. One of

  413. them had to make the choice to come to

  414. the king. Solomon has been dooed with

  415. wisdom. God has anointed him. He has

  416. answered his prayer. He has blessed him

  417. with wisdom, riches, and honor. And just

  418. immediately after Solomon comes out of

  419. this dream, just shortly after, these

  420. two ladies come in this text and Solomon

  421. is the king. And when I think about

  422. first of all I think let me just say

  423. this. I'll give you four things not

  424. three. Number one let's say number one

  425. what makes a real mother? He knew she

  426. was the mother because number one she

  427. came to him

  428. >> right?

  429. >> Who'd she go to? She went to the king.

  430. >> Right.

  431. >> You know how you know who a real mother

  432. is

  433. >> not by her children.

  434. >> Not by her husband.

  435. >> But her relationship to the king.

  436. >> You're right.

  437. >> Amen.

  438. >> Amen. She comes to the king. Why?

  439. Because she's got a problem that's

  440. bigger than she is. You're right.

  441. >> And you know what? She doesn't only come

  442. to the king, but you know what? Second

  443. of all, I notice not only her coming,

  444. but I notice her conversation.

  445. You see, the one doing the most talking

  446. to the king in this text is the one

  447. who's the living child is. You're

  448. >> right.

  449. >> She's talking to the king. She's telling

  450. the story. She is making her request

  451. known. I NEED HELP IN THIS SITUATION

  452. BECAUSE I CANNOT FIX IT MYSELF. YOU SAY,

  453. "PREACHER, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR ME?"

  454. WELL, as a mother this morning, the m

  455. level of mother that you are is not

  456. described BY HOW MANY CHILDREN that you

  457. have or how much love that you show to

  458. them. BUT LET ME SAY THIS, THE LEVEL OF

  459. MOTHER THAT YOU are is decided ABOUT HOW

  460. MUCH YOU TALK TO THE king about your

  461. children.

  462. >> It's decided by how much time in prayer

  463. you spend for them. I can tell you how

  464. much you love your children by how many

  465. times a day you pray for them because

  466. you understand your love is not

  467. stringing upon your affection for them.

  468. But your love is stringent upon first of

  469. all your relationship with God. You can

  470. give them everything. Look, I know you

  471. don't like it, but I'm going TO PREACH

  472. IT ANYWAY. YOUR LOVE is not STRINGING

  473. UPON YOUR EXPRESSION TO THEM. You can

  474. tell them you love them from now until

  475. your dying breath. BUT IF YOU'VE NEVER

  476. TALKED TO GOD ON THEIR BEHALF, I submit

  477. to you, you don't know what real love

  478. is. You're

  479. >> right.

  480. >> Their conversation with the king, SHE

  481. HAD A PROBLEM THAT SHE COULD NOT FIX.

  482. AND LET ME SAY THIS TO YOU, MAMA. YOUR

  483. CHILDREN HAVE A PROBLEM THAT YOU CANNOT

  484. FIX. OH FRIEND, BOY, I FELT A BREEZE

  485. FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY ON THAT. HEY

  486. FRIEND, EVERY CHILD BORN INTO THIS

  487. WORLD, DAVID SAID, "BEHOLD, I WAS SHAPEN

  488. IN INIQUITY, AND IN SIN DID MY MOTHER

  489. CONCEIVE ME. EVERY CHILD THAT'S BORN OF

  490. WOMAN HAS A PROBLEM THAT CANNOT BE

  491. FIXED. AND IT'S THE SIN PROBLEM. IT IS

  492. THE CORRUPTION PROBLEM. AND UNLESS YOU

  493. GO TO THE KING, UNLESS YOU DECIDE TO

  494. MAKE YOUR CONVERSATION BEFORE HIS THRONE

  495. AND BEFORE HIS GLORY, YOU DON'T REALLY

  496. KNOW WHAT LOVING YOUR CHILDREN IS THIS

  497. MORNING. PREACHER,

  498. >> those that love their children. You say,

  499. "Preacher, WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? MY

  500. children are mine." But you understand

  501. there's ladies in this church and are

  502. praying FOR YOUR CHILDREN. YOU MAY HAVE

  503. NEVER PRAYED A PRAYER FOR YOUR CHILDREN,

  504. but there's LADIES THAT'S BEEN MORE

  505. MOTHER TO YOUR CHILDREN IN THIS CHURCH

  506. THAN YOU have been.

  507. >> Come on.

  508. >> Because they're praying for your

  509. children. You're

  510. >> right.

  511. >> Your motherhood is not stringing just

  512. upon your affection.

  513. >> You're right.

  514. >> It's stringent upon your

  515. >> prayer.

  516. >> Your supplication

  517. before the king. What does she do? She

  518. tells her complaint.

  519. She tells the story. says, "Lord, this

  520. woman has taken my child." You know what

  521. the truth is? Sin will take your

  522. children.

  523. >> This woman's a type of the enemy. You're

  524. >> right.

  525. >> She's a type of sin. She takes her

  526. children. You know what she did? She

  527. killed her own child.

  528. >> And so, you know what she had to go get

  529. somebody else's,

  530. >> right?

  531. >> Because you know what she won't do? She

  532. want to kill it, too.

  533. >> You know what sin has done? It's plunged

  534. the entire human race into death. Yeah.

  535. The

  536. >> Bible says, "For by one man sin entered

  537. the world, and death by sin, and death

  538. passed upon all men in that all have

  539. sinned." And this woman was trying to

  540. take her baby. And you know what? The

  541. only hope she had was to get to the

  542. king. You're

  543. >> right.

  544. >> I don't know what else to say other than

  545. that. I'm just going to get hung up on

  546. that for a minute. But some of y'all

  547. need to get to the king,

  548. >> right?

  549. >> Amen. Hey, some of y'all need to go and

  550. have a conversation with a king, with a

  551. sovereign. She had A CONVERSATION WITH

  552. ONE who had more power than she did.

  553. This woman, she is the mother. Solomon

  554. decided because she came to him, but

  555. because she conversed with him. Notice

  556. this, not only her coming and her

  557. conversation, but notice her compassion.

  558. The Bible says in the text in verse 26,

  559. that then spake the woman whose living

  560. child was unto the king. Notice this.

  561. For her boughs yearned upon her son, and

  562. she said, "Oh my Lord, give her the

  563. living child, and in no wise slay it,

  564. but the other said, let it be neither

  565. mine nor thine, but divided." You see,

  566. the great imagery in this text is is

  567. that sin has come and taken this woman's

  568. child. And what has happened because sin

  569. has come and taken this woman's child.

  570. You know what's about to happen?

  571. Judgment's going to fall. You say, "What

  572. is that, preacher?" Well, Solomon told

  573. his men, he said, "Go get the sword."

  574. What is that an emblem of? It's an

  575. emblem of judgment. And this baby has

  576. come here in the text because of this

  577. woman's sin, because of what she has

  578. done. And his life is fixing to be taken

  579. because of his sin. And what happens is

  580. when Solomon says, "BRING THE SWORD,"

  581. THAT WOMAN in her heart BEGINS TO FEAR.

  582. THAT WOMAN IN HER HEART BEGINS TO

  583. TREMBLE. SHE BEGINS TO BE BURDENED. SHE

  584. BEGINS TO BE BROKEN. SHE BEGINS TO BE

  585. BEING ON THE INSIDE. WHY IS THAT?

  586. BECAUSE SHE REALIZED THAT HER CHILD WAS

  587. GOING TO DIE.

  588. >> That's right.

  589. >> Notice the text. And the king said IN

  590. VERSE 24, "BRING ME A SWORD." And they

  591. brought a sword before the king. And the

  592. king said, "Divide the living child in

  593. two and give half to the one and half to

  594. the other." You know what that displays?

  595. That displays that this child was going

  596. to have to die.

  597. >> You're right.

  598. >> And the judgment was coming upon it

  599. because of sin. But aren't you thankful?

  600. This mother in the text, the Bible says

  601. she spoke up.

  602. >> Yeah. Come on.

  603. >> You know what I'm not hearing? I'm

  604. hearing a whole lot of women speak up in

  605. this day and time, but they're not

  606. speaking up for their children who are

  607. dying.

  608. >> You're right.

  609. >> They're not speaking up for their

  610. children who they've lost to sin and

  611. lost to the world, and the judgment of

  612. God is on them. I'M SAYING, FRIEND, THE

  613. BIBLE SAYS SHE WENT AND HAD A

  614. CONVERSATION WITH THE KING. WHEN SHE

  615. REALIZED JUDGMENT was coming, THE LOVE

  616. OF GOD IN HER HEART, SHE SAID, "YOU

  617. DON'T TAKE MY BABY'S LIFE."

  618. >> YOU'RE RIGHT. YEAH.

  619. >> Notice the text. She spake. Then spake

  620. the woman who's the living child was

  621. under the king. Notice this. For her

  622. bowels yearned upon her son. You know

  623. what that means? She was moved inside.

  624. She was broken. She was burdened. And

  625. out of that broken burden that she

  626. possessed, she began to beg for the life

  627. of her children. I tell you this, ask

  628. you. LET ME ASK YOU THIS, MAMA. WHEN'S

  629. THE LAST TIME you beg the soul of your

  630. children that's lost AND UNDONE WITHOUT

  631. GOD? WHEN'S THE LAST TIME THE COMPASSION

  632. IN YOUR HEART, SHE DIDN'T PLEAD WITH

  633. THAT OTHER MOTHER. SHE DIDN'T EVEN PLEAD

  634. WITH A BABY. BUT THE COMPASSION IN HER

  635. HEART WENT AND PLED WITH A KING. KING,

  636. GIVE HER TO THE OTHER WOMAN. SAVE HER

  637. LIFE. SAVE HIS LIFE. BECAUSE HER

  638. COMPASSION, SHE DIDN'T WANT HIM TO DIE.

  639. AMEN. RIGHT.

  640. >> More important than physical life. Yeah.

  641. spiritual life.

  642. >> Amen. Right.

  643. >> She was burdened. She was broken. Mom,

  644. are you broken

  645. by the state of your children?

  646. >> Come on, preacher.

  647. >> When they live in sin, they walk in sin.

  648. You say, "Preacher, you know I'm

  649. broken."

  650. Well, it comes back to this question.

  651. Your brokenness will be showed by how

  652. much you pray for them.

  653. >> You're right.

  654. How many times have you went to God on

  655. their behalf and your love for them and

  656. your in your in your heart has expressed

  657. to God, Lord, please have mercy.

  658. You can kiss your children. You can hug

  659. your children and you ought to. You can

  660. kiss your children and you ought to. But

  661. you know what? More than any of that,

  662. you ought to go to God.

  663. >> Amen.

  664. >> You ought to go to God.

  665. I noticed this and I tell you this

  666. morning, you say, "Preacher, this is an

  667. awful hard message for Mother's Day."

  668. Well, WHAT I'M SEEING IN OUR COUNTRY IS

  669. I'M SEEING CHILDREN SLIP THROUGH THE

  670. CRACKS OF OUR FINGERS BY THE THOUSANDS

  671. IN OUR CHURCHES. AND IT'S NOT BECAUSE

  672. MOTHERS HAVE NOT KISSED THEIR CHILDREN

  673. AND HUGGED THEIR CHILDREN, BUT IT'S

  674. BECAUSE THEY'VE NOT INTERCEDED FOR THEIR

  675. CHILDREN. RIGHT?

  676. >> Your love is not judged by your

  677. affection, BUT IT IS JUDGED BY YOUR

  678. PRAYER FOR THEM,

  679. the conversation, the compassion. But

  680. notice this.

  681. There's not only her coming, her

  682. conversation, her compassion, but notice

  683. her concession.

  684. Verse 26, her bows yearned upon her son,

  685. and she said, "Oh my Lord, give her the

  686. living child and in no wise slay it."

  687. But the other said, "Let it be neither

  688. mine nor thine, but divided." You see,

  689. the a real mother's number one greatest

  690. action is prayer. But a real mother's

  691. number one greatest affection

  692. is for that child to live no matter what

  693. it cost her.

  694. >> You're right.

  695. >> Notice the text again. Look what the

  696. Bible says. Oh my Lord, give her the

  697. living child. You know what this mother

  698. was willing to do? so her baby could

  699. live.

  700. >> Come on.

  701. >> She was willing to turn her over. You

  702. say, "Preacher, she was turning her over

  703. into the hands of this other person."

  704. No, she was putting him in the hands of

  705. the king.

  706. >> You're right.

  707. >> You see what she was conceding here in

  708. this text? She was acting upon the

  709. mercies of the king.

  710. >> You're right.

  711. >> Because the king was the one who was in

  712. control of this matter.

  713. >> Is anybody in the building?

  714. >> Come on.

  715. >> She's not concerned about this other

  716. mother, but she's talking to the king

  717. cuz she's concerned about the life of

  718. that baby. And when she conceives the

  719. life of that baby over into THE HAND OF

  720. THE KING, SHE KNOWS THAT REGARDLESS OF

  721. WHAT HAPPENS, the king's got it under

  722. control.

  723. >> The king's going to take CARE OF THE

  724. PROBLEM. THE KING'S GOING TO MAKE SURE

  725. THIS BABY'S ALL RIGHT. I'M SAYING,

  726. FRIEND, SHE TALKED TO THE LORD. SHE HAD

  727. A TENDER LOVE FOR THIS BABY THAT WAS

  728. EXPRESSED IN HER PRAYER UNTO the Lord.

  729. BUT LET ME SAY THIS, WHEN SHE COULDN'T

  730. DO NOTHING ELSE, OH FRIEND, WOULD

  731. SOMEBODY HEAR ME PREACH? WHEN THERE WAS

  732. NO OTHER STEP SHE COULD TAKE, WHEN THERE

  733. WAS NO OTHER MOVE LEFT TO MAKE IN HER

  734. LIFE, YOU KNOW WHAT SHE HAD TO DO? SHE

  735. JUST HAD TO turn him over.

  736. >> Amen.

  737. >> She just turned him over to the Lord.

  738. >> Amen.

  739. >> Just put him in God's hands.

  740. >> That's right.

  741. >> You say, "Preacher, how is it that she

  742. could do that?" She could do that

  743. because she was more concerned about the

  744. life of the baby.

  745. >> You're right.

  746. >> Than she was about her own personal

  747. satisfaction. Yeah.

  748. >> She was more concerned about the life of

  749. the baby than she was about being right.

  750. >> That's right.

  751. >> Right.

  752. >> Come on, preacher.

  753. >> She was more concerned about the life of

  754. the baby than when she was concerned

  755. about anything else that had to do with

  756. herself.

  757. >> You're right.

  758. >> A real mother this morning is more

  759. concerned about the life of her

  760. children. When I say life, I mean

  761. salvation.

  762. >> You're right.

  763. >> Than she is anything else in her own

  764. life.

  765. >> She'll give her last dime. She'll do

  766. everything she possibly can. She'll run

  767. herself racket and do everything in the

  768. wee hours of the night in prayer and

  769. reading the Bible and giving them the

  770. WORD OF GOD TO TRY TO WIN THEIR HEART TO

  771. GOD AND GIVE THEM LIFE BECAUSE NOTHING

  772. ELSE MATTERS TO HER BUT HER CHILDREN

  773. KNOWING AND LOVING THE KING. AMEN.

  774. >> RIGHT.

  775. >> AMEN.

  776. >> The concession. What did she conceive

  777. this son for? Because it was the only

  778. way for him to live.

  779. >> You're right.

  780. >> Let me say this to you, mother. The only

  781. way your children will live is if you

  782. give them to God. That's

  783. >> right.

  784. >> I'm reminded of a little woman by the

  785. name of Hannah

  786. >> in 1st Samuel chapter number one verse

  787. number 28. The Bible says that she came

  788. and she was barren and she prayed for

  789. this child. I prayed and there in that

  790. chapter the Bible says that she lent him

  791. to the Lord.

  792. >> And the Bible says that she blessed and

  793. magnified the name of the Lord. And you

  794. know what that little baby that God gave

  795. to her? You know what she did? She left

  796. it at the house of God,

  797. >> right?

  798. >> She left it with a man of God, Eli, to

  799. be raised to serve God and to live for

  800. God. You know what she did? She turned

  801. him over to the Lord,

  802. >> right?

  803. >> And you know what God did for Hannah? He

  804. blessed her with many more children and

  805. a son who would be there would be none

  806. like him

  807. >> as the judges of Israel in the days to

  808. come.

  809. Sa Hannah was blessed because of Samuel.

  810. I'm reminded of another woman in the

  811. book of 2 Kings chapter number four, the

  812. little Shinomite woman. And the Bible

  813. says that she'd prayed for a son and God

  814. gave her a son. But there come a day

  815. when he was in the field and they were

  816. together and she went, he went and laid

  817. in her lap and said, "I feel sick." And

  818. the Bible says that he died in that

  819. field. And the Bible says that she went

  820. and ran. She ran to the man of God.

  821. >> Amen.

  822. >> And the Bible says when Gahhesi, the

  823. servant of the man of God, met her, you

  824. know what she said to him? Her son's

  825. dead. The one she'd prayed for, the one

  826. that God had given her, her son's dead.

  827. And the man of God told Gahesi, ASKED

  828. HER, "IS IT WELL? IS IT WELL WITH OUR

  829. HUSBAND? IS IT WELL WITH OUR CHILDREN?"

  830. AND THAT SHOUNOMITE WOMAN LOOKED AT HIM

  831. AND SAID, "IT is well." WHEN ALL

  832. REALITY, NOTHING WAS WELL. SHE HAD LOST

  833. HER SON. HE WAS DEAD. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT

  834. SHE HAD DONE? SHE HAD TURNED HIM OVER TO

  835. THE LORD. SHE KNEW IF HE WAS EVER GOING

  836. TO LIVE AGAIN, IT WAS GOING TO TAKE

  837. GOD'S WORD. IT WAS GOING TO TAKE GOD'S

  838. BLESSING FOR THAT LITTLE BOY TO COME

  839. BACK TO LIFE. AND MAMA, YOU BETTER HEAR

  840. THIS PREACHER THIS MORNING. IF YOU EVER

  841. WANT TO SEE LIFE IN YOUR CHILDREN'S

  842. LIFE, IF YOU WANT TO EVER SEE SALVATION

  843. REACH YOUR HOUSE, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE

  844. TO TURN THEM OVER

  845. >> TO THE LORD.

  846. >> You're going to have to turn them over

  847. to the Lord.

  848. You say, "Preacher, but

  849. I'm their mother."

  850. Let me ask you something.

  851. Does it matter more to you to be

  852. recognized in this life as a mother or

  853. does it matter more to you to be

  854. recognized by God as a mother?

  855. >> Good preach.

  856. >> Notice the text. The Bible says, "Then

  857. the king answered

  858. after this woman and said after her

  859. heart yearned and said, give the living

  860. child to this other lady. Don't take his

  861. life." Solomon the Bible said the king

  862. answered and said give her the living

  863. child and in no wise sled. What's your

  864. Bible say? She is the mother.

  865. You know how Solomon knew she was the

  866. mother? Because of a conversation.

  867. >> You know what she did? She talked to the

  868. king,

  869. >> right?

  870. >> She knew he knew that she was the mother

  871. because of her compassion.

  872. Because when death had come, when it was

  873. he was surely going to die, you know

  874. what she did? She didn't stay silent.

  875. She said, "Don't take his life." She

  876. interceded on his behalf. But I'll tell

  877. you this, you know what sealed the deal?

  878. >> Solomon knew that this lady was the

  879. mother of this boy when she gave his

  880. life into the king's hands.

  881. >> Right?

  882. Everybody in this room may look at you

  883. as a mother today,

  884. but if God was to look at you, come on.

  885. >> And God is looking, if we could hear

  886. what God said about your life, are you a

  887. mother?

  888. If God

  889. was to look at my life and yours, you

  890. say, "Preacher, is that just for the

  891. mothers?" No, it's just as much for the

  892. daddies.

  893. >> Right. Right.

  894. If God looked at your life and mine,

  895. yes, we've got children.

  896. Yes, we try to raise them in the nurture

  897. and they have an issue of the Lord. But

  898. I wonder if God could say, "She's a

  899. mother."

  900. >> Amen.

  901. >> He's a daddy.

  902. Paul said this to the Corinthian church.

  903. He was telling the church at Corenth,

  904. they had many teachers.

  905. Corinth was

  906. ridden with wise counsel. And he

  907. literally says it this way in 1

  908. Corinthians 4.

  909. He said in verse 1 Corinthians 4 and

  910. verse number 15,

  911. he said, "For though you have 10,000

  912. instructors in Christ, yet have you not

  913. many fathers, for in Christ Jesus, I

  914. have begotten you through the gospel."

  915. You know what Paul was saying?

  916. He was saying that none of those

  917. children were his biologically. We don't

  918. even know if Paul was married. I

  919. personally believe he was. We don't know

  920. if he was. But you know what he was

  921. talking about? He said, "Church, you've

  922. got all kinds of teachers. You've got

  923. all kinds of advice. You've got all

  924. kinds of illustrations. You've got all

  925. kinds of help." He said, "But you know

  926. what you're lacking? You're lacking a

  927. father."

  928. >> Yes.

  929. >> And you know what he was talking about?

  930. He said, "You've only got one father."

  931. And he said, "That's me." He said, "I've

  932. begotten you." Paul looked at the church

  933. and said, "I've begotten you into the

  934. gospel." You say, "Preacher, how does

  935. that apply to the mother?"

  936. It's not so much about you bringing

  937. physical life into this world, mama, as

  938. it is about you bringing spiritual life,

  939. >> right?

  940. >> To those of whom you've g physical life

  941. to.

  942. >> You'll not be judged by how good of a

  943. mother you was in the physical side of

  944. things.

  945. >> Right? But you'll be judged by how good

  946. of a mother you was in the spiritual

  947. side of things. You're

  948. >> right.

  949. >> Let me ask you, are your children going

  950. to heaven because of you? You say,

  951. "Preacher, well, they're not saved."

  952. Well, you know what you need to be

  953. doing?

  954. >> Come on.

  955. >> And you'll be talking to the king,

  956. >> right?

  957. >> You say, "Preacher, but I love my

  958. children." How much are you talking to

  959. the king? That's

  960. >> right. He's the only one that can change

  961. the course of your children's life.

  962. That's

  963. >> right.

  964. >> And here's where you're going to have to

  965. come to where every mother in this room

  966. has had to come to at some point in

  967. their life. They've had to concede.

  968. Lord, here's my children. Because you

  969. know what? They're borrowed.

  970. >> You're right.

  971. >> Your children's not yours.

  972. >> That's right.

  973. >> They're God's.

  974. >> He's given them to you to raise and you

  975. are responsible for them. And it really

  976. does not matter how many people call you

  977. mother on this side if God cannot say

  978. you're a mother. But I'll tell you this.

  979. You say, "Preacher, that's awful

  980. gloomy."

  981. It's not gloomy for me.

  982. >> Amen.

  983. >> You know why? Cuz I'm saved today.

  984. >> That's right.

  985. >> Because of a great granny and a grandma

  986. that prayed for my mom and daddy.

  987. >> Amen. years and years and years and

  988. years and they got saved. And you know

  989. what? Out of that, when mom and daddy

  990. got saved, they prayed for my my mom and

  991. daddy's family. And one by one, each boy

  992. got saved. I got saved at seven. My

  993. brother got saved a little later. My

  994. little brother, he got saved just just a

  995. few years ago.

  996. Me and my brother's both preaching now.

  997. And I really believe that we're saved in

  998. the ministry today because of the

  999. prayers of those little ladies.

  1000. >> You're right.

  1001. >> Here's what I'll say about that. You

1002. know what? I know there was other

  1003. ladies, too.

  1004. >> Amen.

1005. >> That Greater Vision Baptist Church I

1006. come up come up in, it was a Southern

1007. Baptist church, but there was some

1008. oldtime shouting, Holy Ghost filled

1009. ladies in that church. I'm talking about

1010. would scare you to death, run the

1011. aisles, wave hankies. Amen. And you know

1012. what I know about them ladies? They were

1013. just as much a mother to me. That's

  1014. right.

1015. >> As my mama because they prayed for me.

  1016. >> Amen.

1017. >> There's ladies in this room right now

1018. that have prayed prayers for each of

1019. your children sitting in here this

  1020. morning.

  1021. >> Amen.

1022. >> There's ladies that today have prayed

  1023. for you.

1024. >> They've prayed for you in this very

1025. service that you could be saved.

  1026. >> Amen.

1027. >> You know what God says?

  1028. She's the mother.

1029. She's the mother. Every head bowed and

  1030. every eye closed.

  1031. Father, thank you.

1032. Thank you for this precious truth today.

1033. Lord, I I pray nobody misses the point

1034. of the message this morning.

1035. Lord, we celebrate our mothers. We

  1036. celebrate

1037. the life, the burden that they carry.

1038. Lord, how they keep keep our homes

  1039. together.

1040. How they raise the children

1041. and love their husband and how they do

1042. such a wonderful job of serving at the

1043. house of God and faithful and silent

  1044. Lord and obedient.

1045. And God, they've been blessed.

1046. So many mothers I see here today,

1047. Father, not just birth mothers, but God,

1048. they're mothers for this church

1049. that love each individual in this place.

1050. And God, this is my prayer today. I pray

  1051. that each mother today,

1052. Lord, would desire to be what you call a

  1053. mother.

  1054. Lord, known by

1055. their conversation with you, known by

1056. their compassion for their children, and

  1057. known by their concession,

1058. Lord, that they have given their

  1059. children into your hands.

1060. And God, I pray that you would help us.

  1061. Please help us,

1062. God, to realize, Lord, that sin is after

  1063. our children.

1064. And Lord, if we're not careful,

  1065. Lord, judgment will fall.

1066. Lord, if this mother hadn't went to the

1067. king, Lord, there's no doubt in my mind,

  1068. judgment would have fell,

1069. Lord. No telling what would have

1070. happened, but she went to the king

1071. and got help, Lord, from the only one

  1072. that could give help.

1073. And Lord, I pray for that mother here

  1074. today that's brokenhearted.

1075. Lord, her children are wavered.

1076. They're not living like they should. But

  1077. Lord, she's praying.

1078. God, she's a praying every day that

1079. they'll get saved or they'll get right

1080. with God and PRAYING THAT THEY'LL COME

1081. HOME. And Lord, I pray that you just

1082. reach down and wrap your loving arms

1083. around her and remind her today, it

1084. ain't about what her children do, but

1085. it's just about the fact that she loves

1086. them enough to come to you and pray for

1087. them. And God, I pray you would wrap

1088. your loving arms around her today.

1089. And God, if there's somebody here today

1090. that maybe they don't love their

  1091. children,

1092. God, I pray you get a hold of their

  1093. heart.

1094. Lord, this is a wicked world we live in.

1095. And God, I pray, Father, today,

1096. Lord, that you'd save that soul, Father,

1097. this morning. Maybe got bitterness

  1098. towards their children.

1099. Lord, I'm thinking about a woman right

1100. now, you know, Lord, who's on my heart.

1101. Father, her life, Lord, her her birth

  1102. mother didn't didn't care about her,

  1103. didn't love her.

1104. Her husband didn't care about her and

1105. didn't love her. But God, she has a

1106. smile on her face this morning. And she

1107. loves you today in spite of the fact

1108. that her birthother didn't care and

  1109. didn't love her.

1110. Because God, you gave her mothers around

1111. her that prayed for her and she got

  1112. saved

1113. because when the physical mother wasn't

1114. there, Lord, I'm thankful there were

1115. spiritual mothers around. And God, would

1116. you help us, Lord, as the men, God, to

  1117. be those spiritual fathers,

1118. Lord, to give the truth,

1119. Lord, to love each soul

1120. because Lord, each soul, Father, belongs

1121. to you. And Lord, I pray for that weward

1122. child today. Sin's about to take them

1123. away. God, I pray you'd deal with their

  1124. heart.

1125. I pray you'd help them this morning.

1126. As every head's bowed and every eyes

1127. closed, some are still praying. I want

1128. to ask you this morning, you say,

  1129. "Preacher,

1130. preacher, I've not always prayed for my

1131. children, but by the grace of God, I

1132. want to start praying today like I've

  1133. never prayed before.

1134. Preacher, I want to be the mother that

1135. I'm supposed to be. Anybody

1136. be honest and attest to that today? This

1137. preacher want wants to pray for you. God

1138. sees those hands. God sees those hands.

1139. Bless his name. Bless his name. I'll

1140. tell you this this morning. It's the

  1141. greatest encouragement to know.

1142. The Bible says Jeremiah said it this

1143. way. He said his mercies are new every

1144. morning because his compassions fail

1145. not. And the reason why you can be

1146. compassionate on that wavered son, the

1147. reason why after they've hurt you and

1148. hurt you and hurt you again and again

1149. and again, the reason why you still love

1150. THEM IS BECAUSE GOD'S LOVE IN YOUR HEART

1151. WILL NOT LET YOU TURN LOOSE TO THEM. AND

1152. YOU CAN GO TO GOD ON THEIR BEHALF

1153. BECAUSE HE loves them more than you do.

1154. >> And he wants to see them right with you

1155. and right with him more than even you

  1156. do.

1157. God bless each of your hearts today.

1158. Let me say this. They may be a wavered

  1159. child here today.

1160. Hey, you can get right today.

1161. You don't have to allow judgment to take

1162. you away. There's men and women in here

1163. that could testify of the years of their

1164. life that they spent away from God and

1165. they would tell you it's not worth it.

1166. It's not worth it. There's people here

1167. that's prayed for you today that you'd

1168. get right with God. These altars are

1169. open. She's going to play one more

  1170. verse.

1171. Let me ask you this today, Sinner.

  1172. You've got a good mama.

1173. And I'm thankful for all the good ladies

1174. in this church. So many great mothers in

1175. here this morning. And I love each and

1176. every one of you. But you know what? I

1177. know some of these mothers got children

  1178. that's lost.

1179. They've been praying for you. Been

1180. praying for you for some time.

1181. It would be the greatest thing in the

1182. world for you to get saved on Mother's

  1183. Day.

1184. They've spent their life praying for

1185. you. And you know what would thrill

  1186. their soul

1187. is for you to come and trust the Lord.

1188. You say, "Preacher, I I'm not saved."

  1189. Preacher, I don't know I'm saved. Would

1190. you pray for me? Would you be honest

1191. this morning? Just slip your hand up.

1192. I'll pray for you. You say, "Preacher,

  1193. I'm not saved.

1194. Would you pray for me?"

1195. God knows your heart this morning.

1196. Let me say this. None of the rest of us

1197. have to know, but he does. And he will

  1198. help you today.

1199. Father, thank you. Thank you for these

1200. mamas today. And God, I pray, Lord, that

1201. you would help us to take to heart.

1202. Lord, it doesn't matter what people say

1203. about us, Lord. It doesn't matter how

1204. good we are in the eyes of men and

1205. women, but Lord, all that matters is if

1206. you're satisfied with us. And God, would

1207. you help us to embrace that today? Lord,

1208. I thank you for these great mothers here

1209. today. And I pray that you would bless

1210. them. And Lord, I pray it was a

1211. challenge to their heart, but I pray

  1212. it's an encouragement, Lord, because I

1213. know the prayer life of many of these

1214. ladies. And I pray it's an encouragement

1215. to them, God, that no matter what those

1216. around them do, Lord, that they're a

1217. mother in your sight. And I thank you

1218. for that, Lord. I love you. Thank you

1219. for loving us. And God, I bless your

1220. name. You are so good to us. We ask all

1221. this in Jesus name for his sake. Amen.
