  54. First, the American flag. Attention.

  55. Salute. Pledge. I pledge allegiance to

  56. the flag of the United States of America

  58. one nation under God, indivisible, with

  67. I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's

  68. holy word. I will make it a lamp unto my

  69. feet and a light unto my path. I will

  70. hide its words in my heart that I might

  71. not sin against God. Amen. You may be

  72. seated.

  73. Well, amen. Good evening, church. Good

  74. to see you in the house of the Lord

  75. tonight. Appreciate you being here and I

  76. trust you've had a good week so far. But

  77. thank you for coming out and being

  78. faithful being in your place tonight.

  79. And I appreciate the Lord allowing us to

  80. be back again on this evening. And I

  81. thank the Lord uh for your prayers.

  82. Appreciate y'all praying for us

  83. traveling mercies um this past few days

  84. as we've been uh gone to a meeting.

  85. Thank you for praying for us and I do

  86. appreciate the Lord watching over us.

  87. It's good to be back tonight. And I got

  88. a couple of announcements here I want to

  89. go over uh just quickly and then we'll

  90. get right on with our prayer request

  91. time this evening. Of course, do

  92. remember uh this coming up Saturday,

  93. we'll be having our uh visitation

  94. program that'll be going on um at the

  95. Mayfest there in town at Walnut Cove. So

  96. that'll be from 10 to 2 on Saturday. And

  97. what we want to do is summits already

  98. volunteered um from 10 to 11 that day.

  99. And so we don't have it ain't necessity

  100. that we stay the whole time. Don't even

  101. know that we'll have enough material uh

  102. to stay the whole time. Um but if you

  103. want to come that morning, uh come by

  104. and help. There's no way.

  105. >> Huh?

  106. >> Yeah. Let us know if you're coming, but

  107. if you want to come by and help, come

  108. on. They won't There's no way that we'll

  109. have too much help. And so, um just come

  110. and be a part of that. Uh on Saturday,

  111. we'll start there at 10 o'clock and uh

  112. Lord willing, we'll have a snow cone

  113. machine there and water bottles, things

  114. of that nature and hand out.

  115. >> That's for the Okay, for the teens to

  116. get t-shirts for camp. So, all right,

  117. remember that on Saturday and we'll

  118. start at 10:00 and go till however long

  119. that gets done. I think the day ends at

  120. like 3:00 there from what I saw in town.

  121. So, um, just remember that on Saturday.

  122. And then Sunday, of course, we'll have

  123. service on Sunday. Remember that. And

  124. let me get my calendar pulled up right

  125. here. And we'll look at the rest of

  126. these dates. Um, do be praying. Uh, I

  127. don't know if I mentioned this to you as

  128. of yet. Um, but we will be having a

  129. missionary with us um at the end of this

  130. year. The reason why I make mention of

  131. this now is because I want you to be

  132. putting this in your calendar. Brother

  133. Trey Dylan, he was here uh with us last

  134. year in missions conference. He's one of

  135. the new missionaries um with Prayer

  136. Baptist Missions. Was able to talk to

  137. him uh on yesterday and he's going to be

  138. with us November the 29th of this year.

  139. And I want you to be praying for them

  140. specifically. Um he told me yesterday um

  141. that he's got 322 church services to be

  142. in this year. And uh so continue to pray

  143. for them if you would please. And his

  144. support, he's looking at getting all of

  145. it raised um by next year and hopefully

  146. by next spring going to be on the field

  147. there in Portland. And so that's going

  148. to be absolutely incredible um to see

  149. God do that. And so if y'all would pray

  150. for them and that's the reason why I

  151. brought up he will be here with us uh in

  152. November, but be praying uh for them uh

  153. if you would please. All right. And so

  154. let's remember that. And then um not

  155. this coming Sunday, but the next Sunday

  156. will be our friends and family day. Be

  157. bathing that in prayer as well. I'm

  158. praying that God will bless that day and

  159. then be praying um for the preacher

  160. that'll be here with us that evening,

  161. the singers and all of that. Be inviting

  162. folk to come to that. All right. Be

  163. inviting people out uh to our service

  164. that day. And that evening service, I'm

  165. thinking, by the way, we've got that

  166. scheduled um that even if other people

  167. are not having church, um they can still

  168. come on and be a part of that service

  169. with us or if they are having church

  170. that Sunday night, they can still come

  171. and be a part of that. And uh so just

  172. invite all that you can uh to come and

  173. be with us on the 24th to friends and

  174. family day. Uh so remember that. And

  175. then youth Sunday on the 31st. Be

  176. praying about that. And uh with that in

  177. mind, the teenagers will be standing

  178. here tonight. The young people will be.

  179. So you're staying here with us tonight

  180. uh this evening. Okay. Be praying about

  181. uh camps coming up there in the month of

  182. June. Um, I did finally get the dates um

  183. for the camp there at Light on the

  184. Mountain camp that I'll be helping with.

  185. And that'll be going on the week after

  186. Bible school. All right. June the 21st

  187. or June the 22nd through June the 25th.

  188. And so if you're interested in going to

  189. that, you see me about that. That'll be

  190. um June, that's for juniors and for

  191. teens. And so if you want to go to that,

  192. you just see me and we'll get you in on

  193. that. I really did think that they had

  194. told me it was in July, but it is in

  195. June. And so that'll be the week after

  196. Bible school. So, be praying about that.

  197. Be praying about Bible school and

  198. praying that God would bless that. Those

  199. four days, we'll have meeting there. And

  200. be praying that God will send us some

  201. children uh to witness to during that

  202. time and pray that God uh would bless

  203. it. Amen. And so, remember all of these

  204. dates coming up and uh do be praying.

  205. I'll mention this too. You can put this

  206. in your calendar if you want to. good

  207. meeting uh to be a part of next week.

  208. They're at Westside Baptist Church.

  209. Brother Tony Feny and brother Barry

  210. Rackley will be preaching there at

  211. Westside on next week and that'll be

  212. Monday night through Friday night. And

  213. uh guarantee you that'll be great

  214. preaching and so go be a part of that if

  215. you can support the meeting there at

  216. Westside. I know it'll be a blessing to

  217. you. And there's all kinds of meetings

  218. coming up here um in the 1 of June

  219. there. Um and I'll say more about that

  220. if you want to be a part of any of

  221. these. And I'll say this as well. If

  222. there's ever any a desire that you have

  223. to go to a meeting and you just like for

  224. somebody to go with you, uh you come and

  225. see me and I I'll drop whatever I'm

  226. doing, we'll go. Amen. And I tell you

  227. what, I believe we ought to stay

  228. together in these days and the

  229. like-minded churches ought to fellowship

  230. and enjoy that. And so if you ever have

  231. that desire, you you don't feel don't be

  232. afraid to come and talk to us and we get

  233. enough people to go, we'll take a van

  234. and go. Amen. And so remember that uh if

  235. you would please. And I will say this,

  236. you can put it on your calendar. We're

  237. going to be having marriage conference

  238. next year in February again. And so be

  239. putting that on. It's not not got the

  240. dates nailed down yet. Um but it is

  241. going to be in the month of February.

  242. And so be praying about that as well.

  243. I'm going looking to get that done uh in

  244. the next few weeks. Okay? Uh so remember

  245. that if you would please. All right.

  246. Prayer request this evening. Got several

  247. I need to make mention of tonight. Um,

  248. if you would please uh continue to pray

  249. for the family of Miss Michelle Lester.

  250. Um, be praying for Miss Anne and the

  251. girls, all of those other sisters and

  252. and brother there. Um, be praying for

  253. them if you would please and her two

  254. children. Pray that God would help them

  255. uh during this time. There will be a

  256. graveside service at Shining Light

  257. Cemetery uh tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. And so

  258. if you want to go by to that, that'll be

  259. tomorrow there at Shining Light. But do

  260. be praying for the family and remember

  261. those of you I think that's y'all's food

  262. team tomorrow at 5:00. So be praying

  263. about that as well. Um let's continue.

  264. >> Okay. If you brought if you brought food

  265. for Brooke tonight, give it to who now?

  266. >> Whitney if Okay. I don't see her here

  267. yet. Bring it to Abby. Okay. Bring it to

  268. Abby. All right. So um if you have food,

  269. bring it to Abby. And for that tomorrow

  270. evening. All right. Let's remember them

  271. in prayer um this evening. Um let's

  272. continue to pray for brother Eric,

  273. sister Donna. Good to see y'all tonight.

  274. Let's remember uh them and John. Pray

  275. for them uh tonight. Um there's another

  276. request of prayer here. Let me get this

  277. pulled up. Let's remember um Brother

  278. Charles Barum. He is at home uh now um

  279. as what brother Donald told me there a

  280. minute ago. But let's pray desperately

  281. for them um during this time. Brother

  282. Charles is in bad shape. All right. Bad

  283. shape. He wouldn't want me to disclose

  284. it. Alice is not doing well either and

  285. so we need to pray for them. I believe

  286. they both got appointments Friday. Ain't

  287. that what you said? Both of them have

  288. >> Okay. So, let's pray for them. Please

  289. pray. Pray desperately for them uh

  290. during this time. Um desperate needs

  291. with our help. So, pray God uh would

  292. help and touch them. All right. Um let's

  293. remember Miss Janet, her procedures got

  294. moved to this Tuesday is what you said.

  295. So, let's remember that. What time do

  296. you know what time it is?

  297. Okay, let's pray about that and continue

  298. to pray for her and pray the Lord to be

  299. with her. And how's Todd doing?

  300. >> That's good. All right. Praise the Lord.

  301. And uh that just don't happen. I'm

  302. already losing my hearing. They told me,

  303. he said, "You going to have to quit

  304. running bulldozers without ear

  305. protection." But I told them I can't

  306. hear it run if I have ear protection on.

  307. So, and got to have something to

  308. entertain you. But anyway, let's

  309. remember brother Todd. Let's remember

  310. Janet in prayer as well. And u I know

  311. I'm forgetting something here, but I'll

  312. get it pulled up in a minute. Does

  313. anybody else got a prayer request

  314. tonight before we pray?

  315. >> Yes, ma'am.

  316. >> All right, let's remember

  317. Amen.

  318. Let's remember that.

  319. >> Yeah.

  320. And she's down there with Sherry, ain't

  321. she?

  322. >> She lives down there where Sherry's at,

  323. don't she?

  324. >> Yeah.

  325. >> Okay.

  326. >> Yeah. All right. Yeah. Let's remember

  327. them. Yeah. Let's remember Miss Sherry

  328. in prayer. Pray for them during this

  329. time. Pray God be with them. Amen.

  330. >> Go ahead, sister.

  331. All right. All right. Let's continue to

  332. pray for that request of prayer.

  333. >> Someone else. Yes, ma'am.

  334. >> Amen.

  335. >> Did she Did Rhonda get any news last

  336. week?

  337. >> Okay.

  338. on it own.

  339. >> Hey man, let's continue to pray for

  340. them.

  341. I guess they still haven't done anything

  342. with Miss Barbara's heart, have they?

  343. >> Yes, she had a procedure.

  344. >> Oh, she did?

  345. >> Okay, good. All right, let's remember

  346. that.

  347. Someone else.

  348. Yes, ma'am.

  349. Bless her heart. Let's remember sister

  350. prayer this evening.

  351. Let's remember that tonight. Yes, ma'am.

  352. Amen.

  353. Amen. Let's do remember that tonight.

  354. Someone else

  355. Yeah.

  356. >> Yeah. Let's remember that

  357. someone else. Yes, ma'am.

  358. >> Yes.

  359. Let's remember Miss Jean's family in

  360. prayer.

  361. Someone else tonight.

  362. Amen. Let's remember that.

  363. >> Someone else is seeing.

  364. Amen.

  365. Someone else has seen.

  366. >> Yes, sir.

  367. >> Let's continue to pray for Miss Marylu

  368. in prayer. Remember her. and uh

  369. had a better week this week.

  370. >> Seems like that's the story gets told

  371. anymore, ain't it? Let's remember that.

  372. Do pray about Miss Pray about Miss Mar

  373. situation. Remember that this evening?

  374. Is any other request of prayer tonight?

  375. Do we will make mention of this tonight?

  376. I got uh news uh one of our

  377. organizations we support out of the

  378. missions fund here uh at MED is the

  379. Tabernacle Children's Home um down there

  380. in Greenville this past week their their

  381. children's home came by and sang and let

  382. us know kind of what was going on there

  383. in the meeting and uh they said that the

  384. due to codes and those of you that are

  385. in building you know how ridiculous that

  386. is. um the code for their building has

  387. come up and there they were going to

  388. have to put in a sprinkler system for

  389. their building. Well, if you know

  390. anything about that, that is probably

  391. about the most expensive thing that you

  392. can possibly do to a building. Um they

  393. quoted them $3 million to put a

  394. sprinkler system into their building um

  395. that they have existed and uh but what

  396. they were able to do and this is the way

  397. the Lord works. They did find find out

  398. that they could build another building

  399. um for $4 million. And so crazy, but but

  400. they could build a bigger facility,

  401. nicer facility, newer facility up to

  402. code and uh everything be okay. And so

  403. they they've prayed about it and they

  404. are starting phase one of that project.

  405. Um and they made mention there in the

  406. medium they took up I think about $8,000

  407. um for that. But we support them and be

  408. praying. I really feel impressed the

  409. Lord to send some money for that um to

  410. help them. Um I know that's that's a lot

  411. of money but um there were um I guess

  412. what what were there probably 15 kids

  413. there I guess when 16 kids and brother

  414. Finny made this statement and I agree

  415. with him 100%. um after they got up and

  416. sang, did a beautiful job. Got up and

  417. sang and some of them spoke and

  418. testified in in about 400, missed about

  419. 400 people, I guess. And uh Brother

  420. Finey got up after um they sat down. He

  421. said this. He said, "One of you is worth

  422. that $4 million and more."

  423. And I believe that.

  424. So, let's pray what what God would have

  425. us to do. You help me pray about that.

  426. God, I I know we're going to do

  427. something. I don't know what, but let's

  428. pray. um God will give us leadership and

  429. wisdom uh to help them. Um first phase

  430. of that I think they said they were

  431. trying to raise about 600,000 I think is

  432. what they're trying to raise. And I know

  433. that sounds like a lot but green that

  434. that organization is worldwide and uh if

  435. churches if every church that was

  436. related to it probably pitched in um

  437. $10,000 it would probably go above. I

  438. mean just just how many churches are

  439. affected by um that ministry. And so

  440. just let's just pray for them. Pray

  441. specifically for that ministry, for that

  442. need, and then help me pray about what

  443. the Lord would have us to do um for them

  444. as far as that goes. All right? So

  445. remember that. And then in with that in

  446. mind, remember our missionaries. Pray

  447. for them uh that God would bless and

  448. help uh in every situation that they're

  449. in or places that they serve. And I pray

  450. that God would continue to bless the

  451. giving. Amen. Is there any other request

  452. of prayer tonight?

  453. All right. All right, let's remember the

  454. service tonight and pray that God would

  455. help us and bless the Bible study and

  456. the teachers as they teach this evening.

  457. Let's remember each other. Let's pray

  458. for the lost tonight and particularly

  459. burden for some and I'm burdened for all

  460. of them. Amen. There's some on my heart

  461. uh tonight I'm burdened for and let's

  462. pray for them and I would love to see

  463. them get saved. And I'm pray for those.

  464. It's grown cold and indifferent on the

  465. Lord. And I tell you what, it's easy to

  466. do. It's a whole lot easier. You know,

  467. it's a natural thing for fire to go out.

  468. If you don't put more fuel to it, you

  469. know what it's going to do? It's gonna

  470. go out. And this is the fuel on the

  471. fire. And we need it. We need it in

  472. these days. And so, let's pray for each

  473. other and pray that God uh wouldn't help

  474. us in these days. All right, let's pray

  475. and ask the Lord to help us. Anything

  476. else tonight?

  477. All right, let's come pray tonight and

  478. ask the Lord to bless our meeting this

  479. evening.

  480. Father, thank you for this good day, for

  481. your grace and your mercy, for allowing

  482. us to be here tonight. God, I realize

  483. we're undeserving, Father. Lord, are the

  484. least of your mercies, but God, your

  485. mercies are new every morning. And Lord,

  486. in abundance, God, you said we're

  487. sending abound. grace is much more

  488. bound. And Lord, I'm thankful for that

  489. fact today, God. We know, Lord, that you

  490. have given all good things into our

  491. hand. We bless your name for that. And

  492. Lord, that every gift, every good gift,

  493. and every perfect gift cometh from

  494. above, Lord, from the Father of lights,

  495. of whom is no variableness, neither

  496. shadow of turning. And we praise you. We

  497. exalt you tonight, Lord, for who you

  498. are, for all that you've done, for all

  499. that you're going to do. And we pray

  500. your will would be done, God. your work,

  501. Father, would be accomplished on this

  502. earth just as it is in heaven, God, that

  503. you would get glory and honor out of

  504. everything that's said and done. God, I

  505. pray tonight, Lord, as we come to you,

  506. Father, and asking for your will to be

  507. done. We know, Lord, that there are

  508. souls who are lost. And God, I pray for

  509. those maybe here tonight, Lord, maybe be

  510. lost. God, I pray you deal their heart

  511. and drawn to a place of conviction and

  512. repentance. And God, they be saved. But

  513. we pray for those maybe uh God, that

  514. need a and stirring, Lord, need

  515. encouragement, God, all of us do. And uh

  516. Lord, I pray God they'd receive strength

  517. and help from the word of God tonight. I

  518. pray Lord for those God tonight that are

  519. sick and afflicted. God, for those

  520. health is not well, Lord, those that are

  521. facing procedures, God, we pray that you

  522. would touch their body, Lord. Many, God,

  523. in our church are in pain, Father,

  524. tonight. And Lord, yet they're still

  525. here. And God, I pray you'd add a

  526. special blessing to them tonight for

  527. being here and being faithful, Lord. And

  528. and God, I pray tonight, Father. Lord,

  529. for the many other requests, God, you

  530. know every need. God, we pray, Father,

  531. for those that have lost loved ones,

  532. God, that are not here tonight. Or we

  533. pray for those, God, that have wavered

  534. loved ones uh that are not here with us

  535. tonight. We pray, God, that you would

  536. wrap your loving arms around them. God,

  537. remind them who they belong to. And

  538. Lord, for those that are lost, God, I

  539. pray uh Father God, that you would deal

  540. with their heart, convict them of their

  541. sin, draw them to a place of repentance.

  542. God, may the word of God, Lord, come

  543. clearly in their mind. God, they see you

  544. for who you are and themselves for who

  545. they are and be saved. God, I pray,

  546. Lord, for the needs, God, that's been

  547. mentioned tonight, Lord, for the

  548. ministry needs. So, we pray for our

  549. missionaries and the places that they

  550. serve, God. Thankful, Lord, that you

  551. allow us, Father, to support the mission

  552. work, Father, and God, to finance the

  553. faith, Lord, the producing uh Lord, the

  554. propagating of the gospel uh throughout

  555. this world. We thank you for that, I

  556. pray you'd help us to give uh Lord, as

  557. we've as we've never given before in

  558. these days, Lord, because I know, God,

  559. today we're nearer than we were

  560. yesterday to your coming. And God, I

  561. pray that you would give us wisdom and

  562. obedience uh Lord to do what you've

  563. called us to do in these days. God, I

  564. ask you, Father, Lord, this evening,

  565. God, that your will would be

  566. accomplished once again. You'd get glory

  567. and honor to yourself. And Lord, I pray

  568. every heart would be touched by the word

  569. of God tonight. Pray you'd speak to me

  570. and speak through me and get all glory

  571. to yourself and bless the teachers

  572. tonight as they teach, God. And for

  573. those that are not here this evening, we

  574. pray you'd deal with them, Father. Lord,

  575. whatever reason uh why God, we pray,

  576. Lord, you bring them back, Father,

  577. safely uh to the house of God again. And

  578. Lord, I thank you, Father, once again

  579. for this church, these precious people.

  580. Lord, I love each one of them. And God,

  581. I pray you'd add a blessing to them for

  582. being faithful and being here in the

  583. house of God tonight. And we love you.

  584. Thank you for loving us. We ask you all

  585. in Jesus name. Amen.

  586. Appreciate that you man.

  587. All right. Genesis chapter number 12.

  588. Genesis chapter number 12 this evening.

  589. Stand up.

  590. Do appreciate your prayers for us in our

  591. travels. Was able um this past week

  592. there to be in that meeting there in

  593. South Carolina. And uh somebody asked me

  594. a while back about young preachers and

  595. how many of them there are around and if

  596. there are any of them left. And I was in

  597. this meeting uh down there. I preached

  598. with five other uh young preachers on

  599. yesterday morning and uh preached 10

  600. minutes a piece. And uh and then after I

  601. got done, they asked all the young

  602. preachers under the age of 25 to stand

  603. up. And I guess there was probably about

  604. 25 or 30 of us. And uh uh somebody made

  605. the statement. I believe it was brother

  606. Finey saying he said, "You know, there's

  607. a lot of days I wonder where God's

  608. getting his preachers at, where they're

  609. at, and the church is sitting empty

  610. without pastors all across this land."

  611. And he said, "I come to this meeting."

  612. He said, "I'm reminded uh God's not done

  613. with us yet." And I'm thankful for that.

  614. And I enjoyed the great privilege there

  615. being there with those men in that

  616. meeting. I thank you uh church for

  617. allowing us to go. It's a blessing. and

  618. uh I appreciate all that you do for me

  619. and my family. The Lord has been so good

  620. to us. Genesis 12. I want to begin

  621. reading in verse number one and we're

  622. going to look not going to get out of

  623. verse number two and three. I know we

  624. kind of dealt with this on uh last time

  625. just briefly, but there are some things

  626. that I want to point out in this text um

  627. if I could this evening and give you a

  628. thought here uh out of this text

  629. concerning the life of Abraham. And we

  630. looked at him uh there on last week

  631. concerning his beginning.

  632. And tonight I want to deal with the

  633. blessedness of Abraham. Um if I could

  634. for just a little while out of this

  635. text. And I notice in verse number one,

  636. Genesis 12:1, the Bible says, "Now the

    Genesis 12:1

  637. Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out

  638. of thy country, and from thy kindred,

  639. and from thy father's house unto a land

  640. that I will show thee, and I will make

  641. of thee a great nation, and I will bless

  642. thee, and make thy name great, and thou

  643. shalt be a blessing, and I will bless

  644. them that curse thee, and curse him that

  645. cursseeth thee, and in thee shall all

  646. families of the earth be blessed."

  647. Father, I ask you once more tonight that

  648. you would help us. God, I realize,

  649. Father, that I cannot do this myself and

  650. I have nothing to say. Father, if you

  651. don't speak through me. And so, God, I

  652. pray you would help me this evening.

  653. God, I pray for these precious people. I

  654. pray you'd bless them tonight. And God,

  655. I pray you'd help us to understand the

  656. blessing, Father, that you spoke of in

  657. this text, Lord, when you spoke to

  658. Abraham that day. And God, how we enjoy

  659. that same blessing. Lord, I pray you

  660. would help us tonight get glory yourself

  661. because we ask it in Jesus name. Amen.

  662. In this text tonight, we did mention

  663. here uh on last time the call of Abraham

  664. uh in this text how that God had called

  665. him out of the Caldes and he's called

  666. him again uh or he's called him the call

  667. never changed. Of course, Abram uh when

  668. he left his his father Tara uh kept him

  669. in Haran and when Tara died, Abram left

  670. Haran. And the Bible says in verse

  671. number one that the Lord had said unto

  672. Abraham, "Get thee out of thy country."

  673. Now, Abram in his partial obedience, he

  674. was faithful to leave the country of his

  675. nativity, but he did not leave his

  676. kindred. The Bible says that God had

  677. told him to leave his country and his

  678. kindred. And we find that because he was

  679. only partially obedient, he did not

  680. enjoy the blessing from the Lord. And I

  681. want to say this tonight to you. You

  682. understand partial obedience is

  683. disobedience. And we need to realize

  684. tonight that if we're going to receive

  685. the blessing from God that God has given

  686. to each of us, we're going to have to

  687. completely obey his word. And I know

  688. that may be redundant from what I said

  689. last time, but it's nonetheless true.

  690. And the Bible says in verse number one,

  691. he said, "It gets you out from thy

  692. country, from thy kindred, and from thy

  693. father's house unto a land that I will

  694. show thee." And then he deals with the

  695. promises. And we talked about the

  696. comparison uh between or the contrast

  697. rather between what Babel was doing in

  698. chapter 11 when they were making those

  699. brick and mortar trying to build the

  700. city and the tower and trying to build

  701. their religion and build their residence

  702. and to make themselves a name. And we

  703. made the statement on last time that God

  704. gave every Abraham everything without

  705. his any of his own works that Babel and

  706. all of that city Nimrod was trying to

  707. work. so hard for. And I'm thankful

  708. tonight that God can do in a moment more

  709. than we can in a lifetime of our works.

  710. Amen. And they spent and wasted many

  711. days trying to gain something that

  712. ultimately God was going to take away

  713. from them. But God blessed Abraham in

  714. this text and allowed him to have uh the

  715. everything that they could not have

  716. because of their rebellion. And I notice

  717. in this text, the Bible says in verse

  718. number two, "And I will make of thee a

  719. great nation." And notice this statement

  720. here. God says, "And I will bless thee."

  721. And I will bless thee. Now, I want to

  722. talk to you tonight about the

  723. blessedness of Abraham. Now, there's

  724. many things that come to my mind when I

  725. think about blessing. When I think about

  726. blessedness in the scripture as a

  727. description, there's a few different

  728. passages that come to my mind. And I'll

  729. give you these tonight and then I'll

  730. give you the message and we'll be done.

  731. But I I think about the blessed man

  732. tonight. The first passage that comes to

  733. my mind is Psalm 1 and verse number one.

  734. And many of you probably know it by

  735. heart, but turn there with me. You keep

  736. your Bible handy tonight. And we're

  737. going to be using them. Psalm 1. Listen

  738. to what the psalmist repeats here in the

  739. text. I encourage you to memorize this

  740. if you don't. It's good uh strengthening

  741. verses when you're dealing with

  742. temptation. Listen to what he says here

  743. in Psalm 1 and verse number one. What's

  744. that first word, church? Blessed.

  745. Blessed is the man that walketh not in

  746. the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth

  747. in the way of sinners, nor siteth in the

  748. seat of the scornful, but his delight is

  749. in the law of the Lord. And in his law

  750. does he meditate day and night. And when

  751. I think about this verse, when I think

  752. about this text, really describing the

  753. whole chapter here in the text, I think

  754. the blessed man tonight is blessed

  755. number one because of his character. And

  756. I want to say this, character and

  757. integrity we're lacking in this day more

  758. than anything else. Men of character,

  759. women of character, who when you were to

  760. look at their life, you don't just look

  761. at the outside, but if you could examine

  762. their heart, their heart would say the

  763. same thing that their life does. And

  764. I'll tell you this, character is who you

  765. are when nobody else is watching. You've

  766. heard it said before. And if we were to

  767. examine your life, if we were to examine

  768. my life, I know we would all find holes

  769. in every one of us. But we ought to

  770. strive to be holy in the deepest part of

  771. our character because really that's

  772. where it counts. Amen. God does not look

  773. on the outward appearance, but as Samuel

  774. said, he lookth on the heart. He doesn't

  775. view our stature. He doesn't view our

  776. standing, but he views the submission of

  777. our heart to his word. And with that,

  778. second of all, I want to say this. The

  779. blessed man not only has to do with

  780. character, but it has to do with the

  781. commandments. And I'm reminded of what

  782. Moses said. Deuteronomy 28.

  783. Listen to what Moses says. He's

  784. reminding the children of Israel here in

  785. the text concerning the law of God. Now

  786. listen to what he says in Deuteronomy

  787. 28:es 1 down through verse 6. He says,

  788. "And it shall come to pass if thou shalt

  789. hearken diligently unto the voice of the

  790. Lord thy God to observe and to do all

  791. his commandments which I command thee

  792. this day that the Lord thy God will set

  793. thee on high above all nations of the

  794. earth. And all these blessings, notice

  795. that, shall come on thee and overtake

  796. thee, if thou shalt hearken, notice that

  797. again, unto the voice of the Lord thy

  798. God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city.

  799. Blessed shalt thou be in the field.

  800. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body,

  801. and the fruit of thy ground, and the

  802. fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy

  803. kind, and the flocks of thy sheep.

  804. Blessed shall be thy basket, and thy

  805. store. Notice this in verse six. Blessed

  806. shalt thou be when thou comest in, and

  807. blessed shalt thou be when thou goest

  808. out. Now, I know that's a positional

  809. promise to the children of Israel, and

  810. it's a prosperity promise to the

  811. children of Israel, but the application

  812. is nonetheless the same. When you are

  813. faithful to obey the commandments of

  814. God, God says there's a blessing that'll

  815. follow that. Amen. And the reason why

  816. people don't know blessings is they

  817. don't they don't keep the commandments.

  818. Amen. If we keep the commandments,

  819. blessedness is promised to come our way.

  820. And then I think about this and and

  821. really this is where I tie it in to the

  822. life of Abraham, but I think about this.

  823. The blessed man doesn't only have to do

  824. with his character and with following

  825. the commandments of God, but it has to

  826. do with his children. And listen to what

  827. the Bible says in Psalm 127:5. And like

    Psalms 127:5

  828. I said, these are just a few

  829. cherrypicked verses that I thought about

  830. when I think about blessing. Psalm 127

  831. and verse number five. Listen to what

  832. the psalmist says here in the text.

  833. Verse number or verse number three.

  834. Notice this. Psalm 127 verse number

  835. three. Lo children are inherited of the

  836. Lord. And the fruit of the womb is his

  837. reward. As arrows are in the hand of a

  838. mighty man, so are children of the

  839. youth. Verse five, happy. That word

  840. happy literally translates to the word

  841. blessed. Happy is the man that hath his

  842. quiver full of them. They shall not be

  843. ashamed, but they shall speak with the

  844. enemies in the gate. Now you say,

  845. preacher, what does that have to do with

  846. Abraham? Well, the Bible says in verse

  847. number two of Genesis chapter number 12,

  848. he says, I will make of thee a great

  849. nation. Now, he's not just talking about

  850. a land. He's not talking about a

  851. government, but he is talking about a

  852. seed. He is talking about a son. He is

  853. talking about a savior and that nation

  854. that would be derived out of the loins

  855. of Abraham that represents the blessed

  856. man's children. And you think about the

  857. song that we sing in in children's class

  858. growing up. Father Abraham had many sons

  859. and many sons had father Abraham. How

  860. does it go? I'm one of them and so are

  861. you. Amen. And that comes by not the the

  862. lineage of his of his children in the

  863. sense of Israel but in the sense of him

  864. being the father of the faith. We are

  865. his children. And so I notice in this

  866. text the blessed man. We we pointed out

  867. the character the commandments and his

  868. children. Notice what the Bible says

  869. about Abraham here in this text. You

  870. find this word bless here in this text

  871. several times. I believe it's about six

  872. times that it's mentioned in this text

  873. in some form or fashion. Let's read it

  874. again. Notice there in verse two, God

  875. said, "And I will make of thee a great

  876. nation, and I will bless thee, and make

  877. thy name great, and thou shalt be a

  878. blessing, and I will bless them that

  879. bless thee, and curse him that cursseeth

  880. thee, and in thee shall all families of

  881. the earth be blessed." Now I want to

  882. give you four things tonight describing

  883. the blessedness of Abraham in this text

  884. and really this is describing the

  885. blessedness of each of us. If you know

  886. the Lord tonight these are the blessings

  887. that you know as his children. So I

  888. would say first of all tonight what we

  889. discover in this text is is there is a

  890. rendered blessing. Notice what the Bible

  891. says in verse two. And I will make of

  892. thee a great nation. Notice the phrase,

  893. "And I will bless thee." Now, who's

  894. speaking in the text? Somebody tell me.

  895. >> God speaking, right? And so, this

  896. blessing rendered here in the text, it

  897. is revealed that God himself by his own

  898. will and in his own work is going to

  899. bless Abraham. Notice that I will bless

  900. thee. God has decided in his divine will

  901. to bless Abram in this text. Now, we

  902. know uh later on his name would be

  903. changed to describe his ownership to

  904. God. But I'll say this, this rendered

  905. blessing tonight is the same evidence

  906. that's in our life. You understand

  907. salvation tonight when we get saved, we

  908. come to the Lord and repent and faith

  909. and we trust him as our savior. But

  910. salvation is the gift of God. Ain't that

  911. what the Bible says? And it is that

  912. rendered blessing that each of you and I

  913. possess. What did what did Paul tell the

  914. church at Ephesus? He said, "For by

  915. grace are you saved through faith and

  916. that not of yourselves. It's the gift of

  917. God, not of works, lest any man should

  918. boast." And so the blessedness that you

  919. and I have tonight, or let me put it

  920. this way, the first blessing that you

  921. will know as a as a human being will be

  922. a rendered blessing. It'll be a blessing

  923. that's imparted unto you. It's a

  924. blessing that's imputed unto you. And

  925. what is that? That is the righteousness

  926. of Christ that's imputed into who we

  927. are. I'm reminded of what Paul said

  928. Romans chapter 4. I encourage you to

    Romans 4 chapter mention

  929. write this in your margin. Paul was

  930. describing in Romans 4, the faith of

  931. Abraham. And he had this to say

  932. concerning what blessedness really is.

  933. Listen to this. In Romans 4 and verse

  934. number six, the Bible says, "Even as

  935. David also describeth the blessedness of

  936. the man." Notice that even as David also

  937. describeth the blessedness, supreme

  938. happiness of the man, unto whom God

  939. imputth what? Righteousness

  940. without works. The blessedness of this

  941. salvation that we are offered is that

  942. forgiveness has been given on terms of

  943. the blood and because of that

  944. righteousness is imputed without works.

  945. It was a rendered blessing. Verse 7

  946. saying, "Blessed are they whose

  947. iniquities are forgiven and whose sins

  948. are covered." Cited from Psalm 32 verse

  949. number one and two verse 8. Blessed is

  950. the man to whom the Lord will not impute

  951. sin. And so that is telling us that the

  952. first blessing that we receive will be a

  953. blessing that is given that is placed

  954. upon our account. And I'll say this

  955. tonight, if you don't know that

  956. blessing, you don't know any other

  957. blessing.

  958. >> Amen. You say, "Preacher, well, I'm

  959. alive, but you're not really living."

  960. Amen. I like that old song Danny

  961. Thunderberg sang with the cathedrals. He

  962. said, "I just started living." Amen.

  963. He'd been living long before he got

  964. saved. But he said, "I just started

  965. living. I got me a brand new life." You

  966. know what that is? That's salvation.

  967. >> That's a rendered blessing. Amen. I'm

  968. saying God has been good. Boy, I tell

  969. you what, that feels good, don't it?

  970. Amen. God has given us a blessing that

  971. we otherwise could never attain in and

  972. of oursel. And so, his blessedness is

  973. rendered in this text. Now notice not

  974. only there is the rendering of

  975. blessedness to Abraham but there is a

  976. righteous blessing that is mentioned in

  977. the text. The Bible says in verse two

  978. God said I will make of thee a great

  979. nation. I will bless thee and make thy

  980. name great. And then notice this phrase

  981. and thou shalt be a blessing. What I'm

  982. interested in in this text is God has

  983. said from this point he says I will

  984. notice that I will make of thee a great

  985. nation. I will bless thee. I will make

  986. thy name great. But then he gets to the

  987. end of this text and says, after

  988. everything that I do for you, Abraham,

  989. Abram, this is what you're going to be.

  990. Notice this, thou shalt be a blessing.

  991. Who we are tonight is directly in

  992. correlation to what God has done for us.

  993. You realize that we have nothing of

  994. ourselves. And so when God says, "Thou

  995. shalt be a blessing," what does that

  996. mean? Well, it's talking about that word

  997. blessing is a different word in the

  998. Hebrew that's used from the word bless

  999. and blessing that's used in the other

1000. verses of this text. And it literally

1001. means a benediction. It literally means

1002. a pronounced blessing that Abraham

1003. himself, Abram himself would be a

1004. blessing to the world. You say, "How is

  1005. that?" Well, let's just let's just

1006. examine this for a minute, okay? Abram

1007. is the father when we think of the

1008. physical sense of what the nation of

1009. Israel in Isaac shall thy seed be

1010. called. And why did God call Abraham out

1011. of the earth? The Caldes. That little

1012. phrase in verse number two hinges all

1013. the doctrine that we believe about

1014. missionary work in all of scripture.

1015. When God said, "Thou shalt be a

1016. blessing," he was referring to the fact

1017. that God would introduce himself to the

1018. rest of the world by Abraham.

1019. God would give this man a blessing.

1020. Notice it again. Notice it again in the

1021. text. I will bless thee. And then what

1022. does he say? And thou shalt be a

1023. blessing. Abram is the channel through

1024. which all of God's blessing would flow

1025. through from this day forward all the

1026. way through the rest of history. Do you

1027. realize that in the church of God, what

1028. we are doing here tonight, we are a part

1029. of the channel that has flowed through

  1030. Abraham.

1031. >> In Adam, there was failure. In Noah,

1032. there was failure. But in Abram, you

1033. know what happened out of his seed? He's

1034. the father of what? The faith. And so

1035. out of him he is the blessing of the

1036. world. And what is that blessing? It is

1037. that righteousness. Remember this. All

1038. right. God said, "I will bless thee." We

1039. talked about what he said there in

1040. Romans. How that the blessed man is the

1041. man whose sins were forgiven, whose

1042. iniquities are covered. And out of that,

1043. you know what we do? We are the ones

1044. that introduce that blessing to the

1045. world. You know how the world gets the

  1046. gospel? It's preaching, isn't it?

1047. >> Right? Abram is the one that God

1048. entrusted. You see, here's the reason

1049. why, and this is where we divide with

1050. those that say salvation is only by

1051. grace through faith. In the New

1052. Testament church, salvation has never

1053. been apart from grace and faith.

1054. >> All the way to the very beginning, man

1055. had to believe God and trust his word.

1056. And it's by grace alone through faith

1057. alone in the finished work of Christ.

1058. You say, "Preacher, how is it that Abram

1059. could believe? How is it that Abram

1060. could believe that Jesus had to die for

1061. his sin?" You remember what Jesus said?

1062. Those those Pharisees came to him and

1063. said, "You know, we have Abraham to our

1064. father." And Jesus rebukes them. He

1065. said, "If you were Abram's children, the

1066. works of Abraham you would do." You

1067. remember him saying that? You can look

1068. in John's gospel chapter 8 and Jesus

1069. said this about Abraham. He said,

1070. "Abraham saw my day and was glad. He

1071. rejoiced. What was that? God promised

1072. him a seed. I'm getting ahead of myself

1073. here, but God promised Abram a seed. And

1074. when God promised Abraham a seed, you

1075. know, he was looking at Isaac, but

1076. farther than that, it was a lot farther

1077. than just Isaac. It was a lot farther

1078. than just Jacob. It was a lot farther

1079. than just Judah and the rest of the line

1080. through which Christ would come. He was

1081. looking to the Messiah. And when God

1082. promised Abram a seed, he wasn't just

1083. looking at a seed. He wasn't just

1084. looking at a son, but he saw the savior

1085. and Abraham would be his father and out

1086. of him righteousness would proceed from

1087. God into this world. And the Bible says,

1088. "Thou shalt be a blessing and the

1089. knowledge of God in the world comes by

  1090. Abraham."

1091. You say, "How is that?" Well, do you

1092. understand that all the rest of the

1093. world had turned on God?

1094. What did we just talk about in chapter

1095. 11? All of those children, they had all

1096. joined together. The Bible says in verse

1097. one of chapter 11, the whole earth was

1098. of one language and of one speech. And

1099. the Bible says, "And it came to pass as

1100. they, the world is united together in

1101. wickedness and out of an entire world

1102. that's united in wickedness and sin."

1103. God takes one man by the name of Abram

1104. and calls him out of that wickedness.

1105. And what does he do? He puts his name on

1106. him. He puts his brand on him. What is

1107. that? It's his righteousness. And

1108. because Abraham, God blessed him, GOD

  1109. SAID,"ABRAM, YOU'RE GOING TO BE A

1110. BLESSING." You know, the reason why

1111. there's some people that profess to be

1112. saved and they never accomplish anything

1113. in the Christian life, the reason I

1114. struggle with their salvation is because

  1115. they've never been a blessing.

1116. >> If you have been blessed, you will be a

  1117. blessing.

1118. >> Amen. If you have been given, Amen. If

1119. you have received, you are to give. And

1120. so this blessing, this righteousness

1121. that's imputed, Abram would reveal. He

1122. would be the father of the missionary

1123. nation. Israel was supposed to bring the

1124. gospel to the rest of the world. But

1125. Israel failed. And so because of that,

1126. they rejected the Messiah. And what did

1127. Jesus do? He turned his ministry to the

  1128. Gentiles.

1129. And he would be a light not only to

1130. lighten Israel but the Gentiles as well.

1131. And that's why Paul said in Romans 1, he

1132. said, "I'm not ashamed of the gospel of

1133. Christ, for it's the power of God under

  1134. salvation to everyone

1135. >> that believeth to the Jew first and also

1136. to the Greek." And so it is this

1137. blessingness. It is a righteous

1138. blessing. And you say, "Preacher, what

1139. does that have to do with

1140. righteousness?" Well, you understand the

1141. only way that Abram could be a blessing

1142. is if he lived in what God had endued

1143. him with. God had blessed him with

1144. righteousness on his account. God

1145. imputed righteousness to him. Genesis

    Genesis 15:6

1146. 15:6. And Abraham believed God and it

1147. was counted unto him for righteousness.

1148. But the only time people saw that in his

1149. life was when he chose to live it. And

1150. Abraham failed many times. We know that.

1151. We know that Ishmael was born out of a

1152. failure of Abraham. But what I'm saying

1153. is out of his seed would be the blessing

1154. and his righteous life would manifest

1155. the blessing of knowing God to the rest

1156. of the world. Notice not only this

1157. moving quickly tonight, we see this

1158. blessedness is rendered. We see the

1159. blessedness of his righteousness. How

1160. that he would share that with the world

1161. from this text. Notice thirdly, I see

1162. not only the right, the rendered

1163. blessing and the righteous blessing, but

  1164. I see there's a reciprocal blessing in

1165. the text. Notice verse three. And I will

1166. bless them that bless thee and curse him

1167. that cursseeth thee. You see, this is

1168. where God sets Abram apart. God has draw

1169. him out of the Caldes. He's brought him

1170. away from his family. And God says,

1171. "Look, I'm going to bless you. You're

1172. going to be a blessing." And he said,

1173. "Because of that blessing that's upon

1174. you, I'm going to set a wall in between

1175. you and the world." You say, "How does

1176. that relate to us, preacher?" Well, you

1177. remember what Jesus prayed in the Gospel

1178. of John? He he was praying there and the

1179. Bible says in that great prayer he

1180. prayed unto the Lord. He said, "Father,

1181. I don't want you to take them out of the

1182. world." He said, "But you just put them

1183. in the world and keep the world out of

1184. them." In essence, is what he said. You

1185. know what God was saying to Abraham in

1186. this text? He's saying, 'Look, those

1187. that bless you and follow what you give,

1188. I'll bless them. He said, 'But those

1189. that reject you, he said, I'll reject

1190. them. You remember what Jesus said in

1191. the New Testament? He said, "Those that

1192. receive me, they receive my father.

1193. Those that reject me, they reject my

1194. father." And so, the truth is tonight,

1195. the same application applies in this

1196. text. this reciprocated blessing is that

1197. God would bless those who would follow

1198. in obedience to Abraham because he is

1199. the one that blessing was placed upon.

1200. You know, I think about this. You say,

1201. "Preacher, well, does that follow in

1202. this day and time when people reject

1203. us?" Well, you just remember we got to

1204. remember who our king is,

  1205. >> right?

1206. >> Jesus is king. And what was he king of?

1207. He was king of rejection, wasn't he?

1208. Everybody rejected him. Everybody walked

1209. away from him. And what did he do for

1210. all of those people? He said, "Father,

1211. forgive them." You know, I don't think

1212. that that was just at the cross. I don't

1213. think that was just looking into our

1214. day. But I think Jesus when he was on

1215. that cross, he looked back at everybody

1216. who had done him wrong through his

1217. entire life and said, "Father, forgive

  1218. them."

  1219. >> Amen.

1220. >> Because he was dying for all their sins,

1221. all the past sins, all the present sins,

1222. and all the future sins.

1223. >> And God said, "Forgive them."

1224. >> Jesus said, "Forgive them." So what are

1225. we to do? Jesus Peter said, "How often I

1226. to forgive my brother?" "Seven times."

1227. Jesus said to him, "Seven times." 70.

1228. Now, we know that's a number. But what

1229. was Jesus expressing? He was saying,

1230. "Forgive him as many times as it takes."

1231. >> And so, the truth is in this text,

1232. blessedness and cursedness in this text

1233. is not ours to to determine. You say,

1234. "How is that?" Well, you just remember

1235. when death takes place and the Bible

1236. says to be absent from the body is to be

1237. present with the Lord for those who are

1238. saved. And so that is blessedness. But

1239. you understand those that die without

1240. God, what do they do? They go to a place

  1241. of eternal what? Judgment.

1242. And so it's not us up to us to determine

  1243. who's blessed and who's cursed.

1244. What did what did God say? He said,

  1245. "I'll bless them."

1246. You know, I think sometimes we get it

1247. wrong and and we're kind of like this.

1248. Well, God said we ought to bless them

  1249. that bless us.

1250. Curse them that curse us. But that ain't

1251. what Jesus said in Matthew 5, is it? He

1252. said, "I send you love your enemies.

1253. >> Do good to them that hate you and them

1254. that persecute you." He said, he said,

1255. "Blessed are ye when men shall revile

1256. you and persecute you and say all manner

1257. of of a against you because of my name."

1258. He said, "Great is your reward in

1259. heaven." And so this reciprocal blessing

1260. comes down to one thing. It reveals to

1261. us the sovereignty of God. That God is

1262. in control. God would bless those who

1263. blessed Abram. We see that through his

1264. entire life. those that were that

1265. followed him, those that supported him

1266. in his endeavor into the land of Canaan,

1267. they were blessed by God. But you

1268. remember every time that Abram steps out

1269. of the will of God and does something

1270. that maybe he shouldn't have or those

1271. trying to do something against Abram

1272. that they shouldn't have, you realize

1273. God cursed them. Sodom and Gomorrah was

1274. burned alive in spite of the prayers of

1275. God, prayers of Abraham for them. But

1276. you know who was saved out of that

1277. thing? Lot was. So, you know what? God

1278. responded by the blessing of Abraham in

1279. his life. So much I could say. I'm

1280. trying not to get ahead of myself in

1281. this because I want to preach through

1282. his life. But I want to give you this

1283. and I'll be done tonight.

1284. We've considered the rendered blessing,

1285. the righteous blessing, this reciprocal

1286. blessing. He would bless those that

1287. bless him. And let me say this tonight.

1288. I believe that still stands.

  1289. I'm not an anti-semit.

1290. I don't believe that. And let me say

1291. this to you. Anybody that would spread

1292. that to you, they want you to go to

  1293. hell.

1294. >> They want you to be destroyed. Because

1295. here's the thing about it. God said his

1296. promise would stand with Israel. That's

  1297. >> right.

1298. >> Paul said it this way in Romans. He

1299. said, "God's not cast away his people,

  1300. >> which he forneew."

1301. >> And so that blessing still stands. I

1302. believe that with all of my heart.

1303. Notice this and I'll be done. We've

1304. mentioned here the missionary state of

1305. Abram here and it's pointed out again.

1306. It's reiterated in verse three. He said,

1307. 'I bless them, bless thee, curse him

1308. that cursth thee, and in thee shall all

1309. families of the earth be blessed.' Now,

1310. you've heard me say this this this

1311. three-fold truth tonight that when God

1312. promised Abraham a nation, he promised

1313. him a seed, he promised him a son, he

1314. promised a savior, and where you see

1315. that in those two little words in verse

1316. three, notice that. and in thee. You

1317. see, it was in the loins of Abraham that

1318. God would raise up salvation. Now, we

1319. know that that you know, we when we

1320. think about Christ, of course, he was

1321. not he did not have an earthly father.

1322. We realize that. But Mary, his mother,

1323. came through this same earthly line. She

1324. proceeded out of that same family. Not

1325. got time to deal with all of that. But

1326. the truth is in this text, what that

1327. reveals is the realm of blessedness.

1328. And you say, "What does that mean?"

1329. Well, God says, "In thee," notice that,

1330. "in thee shall all families of the earth

1331. be blessed." And so, when I think about

1332. that, you know what? That's total.

1333. >> That that that has to do with every

1334. race. That has to do with every place.

1335. Has to do with every person, all

1336. families. So, what was he saying? He he

1337. couldn't have just been talking about

1338. his own personal blessing that Abram

1339. would reign over the world. He couldn't

1340. have just been talking about Isaac, that

1341. one son, because Ishmael was rejected by

1342. God. He couldn't have just been talking

1343. about Isaac. He could not have just been

1344. talking about Jacob because these are

  1345. all singular children.

1346. But what would be the one individual

1347. that in history blessedness would

1348. proceed from one moment in time

  1349. throughout all the past?

  1350. >> Jesus.

1351. >> To all the future. It has to refer to

1352. Christ. And when he says in these shall

1353. all families of the earth be blessed, he

1354. was revealing the fact that the realm of

1355. blessing is to all the world. You say,

1356. "Where does that come from me preacher?

1357. I can't bless the whole world, but you

1358. know what? By being saved, you know what

1359. you are? You're a blessing to the whole

1360. world. The salvation that's in you, you

1361. understand, we may not affect the whole

1362. world directly, but because of salvation

1363. that's in our heart, we are

1364. represented." Paul said it this way. He

1365. said, "We are ambassadors for Christ.

1366. Do we have the potential to reach the

1367. whole world? I believe that. Amen. That

1368. potential is there. But I understand the

1369. great amount of mount, the great

1370. mountain that would stand before us in

1371. evangelism in order to do that. But see,

  1372. that's not the principle. It's what

1373. lives inside of us that's the blessing.

1374. >> And as long as there's a Christian on

1375. this earth, you know what else is here?

  1376. There's somebody who's controlled by the

1377. Holy Ghost of God. And out of that we

1378. are a blessing to the whole society that

1379. exists. He said Abraham he said in thee

1380. shall all families of the earth be

1381. blessed. It is the promise that God has

1382. given unto him. The realm of blessing

1383. extends to all families. You know I

1384. think we we've missed in this day and

1385. time and I I've been guilty of this. you

1386. know, my dreams are too small when it

1387. comes to reaching the world with the

1388. gospel. Because the truth is there's

1389. billions, we know there's billions of

1390. souls on this earth, but I'm I'm

1391. convinced I'm convinced of this fact

1392. that if we will desire to be a blessing

1393. to all, God will desire let us be a

1394. blessing to more than we ever could

1395. have. If we will make our desire to be a

1396. blessing to all. You know, I think, you

1397. know, it goes back to this same

1398. principle people talk about. Well,

  1399. preacher, I can't be perfect.

1400. But you know what? Here's the difference

1401. between those who are close to God and

1402. those who are away from God. Those who

1403. are away from God, they realize that

1404. they can't be perfect. And because of

1405. that, they quit. But those who are close

1406. to God, you know what they do? They look

1407. at the standard and say, "By the God's

1408. grace, I want to get there." Paul said,

1409. 'I count not myself to apprehend.' He

1410. said, ' But this one thing I do. He

1411. said, I'm pressing toward the mark for

1412. the prize of the high calling of God in

1413. Christ Jesus. What was that? That was

  1414. perfection. That was completeness.

1415. At the end of his life, he was able to

  1416. say, "I've fought a good fight. I've

1417. finished my course." And so this

1418. blessedness, this realm of blessedness,

1419. we ought to desire to reach out more

1420. than we think is possible. Because God

1421. told Abram before he ever even made it

1422. into Canaan's land. Notice verse four.

1423. So Abram departed. Before he ever made

1424. it into Canaan land, God's already told

1425. him, "Look, you're going you're going to

  1426. bless the whole earth."

1427. You know what? We don't know what

1428. tomorrow holds. We ought to say, "Lord,

1429. I know what you've invested in me is

1430. able. You understand the spirit of God

1431. and use the same spirit of God that was

  1432. in Billy Graham."

  1433. >> Right?

1434. >> Amen. And I know he wasn't perfect, but

1435. I'm talking about all these great men of

1436. God of days gone by. Jay Harold Smith

1437. and Harold Sitler and Bobby Robertson

1438. and all those guys. The same spirit of

1439. God that was in them is in you.

  1440. >> Right?

1441. >> And we have the opportunity.

1442. It's there to reach the whole world and

1443. be a blessing to the entirety of this

1444. world. But I'll say this. I want to

1445. remind you that being saved and living

1446. for God is the blessing that this world

1447. needs. Because you know what's going to

1448. happen when the church is removed? The

1449. influence of the spirit of God inside of

1450. human hearts will be removed. And so

1451. because of that, there will only be an

1452. exterior influence of the spirit of God.

1453. And you know, I I struggle with this

  1454. sometimes. I'll say this and I'm done. I

1455. I don't really know whether or not after

1456. the rapture takes place that men and

1457. women who get saved after the rapture, I

1458. don't know that they will be indwelt by

1459. the spirit of God. I'm not sure about

1460. that. But I do know this. All those who

1461. will be saved after the rapture will

1462. first of all have never had an

1463. opportunity to be saved before the

  1464. rapture.

1465. But after the rapture, they'll be saved

1466. by grace through faith the same way. But

  1467. I don't know that they'll have that

1468. indwelling presence of God. And here's

1469. the reason why I say that. Because it's

1470. going to go back to the days of the law.

1471. And in the days of the law, you know

1472. what happened? The spirit of God came on

1473. men. It came on men for a time, but it

1474. didn't live in men. You see, we have the

1475. unadulterated presence of God in our

1476. life and we control how much he affects

1477. us. It's not that we need more of the

1478. Holy Ghost. It's that he needs more of

  1479. us. That's right.

1480. >> And so when I say to you the influence

1481. when the rapture takes place, that

1482. influence is going to be removed. It's

1483. going to realize just how big the world

1484. is going to realize just how big of a

1485. blessing the church was to society when

1486. we're taken out of here. Because you

1487. don't understand, all chaos is going to

1488. be unleashed. And we are a blessing,

  1489. God. We're his seed. We're Abram's seed.

  1490. We're God's seed. We're his children.

1491. And we're called to be a blessing. And u

  1492. I hope I hope that's a help to you

1493. tonight. Father, thank you for this

1494. time, Lord. Help us to be a blessing,

1495. Lord. You've blessed us so much. And

1496. God, it's not things. It's not stuff,

1497. Lord. And we've got so much stuff, Lord.

  1498. But I know that that's not that's not

1499. what blessing is. God, you have given us

1500. your spirit, Lord. the third person of

1501. the Trinity lives in our heart. And

1502. Lord, there is no greater blessedness,

1503. Lord, than knowing that we're saved,

1504. forgiven of our sin. And Lord, you have

1505. called us to inherit a blessing. But

1506. Lord, you've called us to be a blessing

1507. to this world. Lord, help us to be that

1508. blessing that you've called us to be.

1509. Lord, I love you. Thank you for loving

1510. us. I want to pray watch over us as we

1511. go home tonight. Pray for all the needs

1512. that's been mentioned this evening.

1513. Bless and help in every situation. We

1514. thank you for what you've done, what

1515. you're going to do. We ask it in Jesus

  1516. name. Amen. I appreciate
