  1. Morning

  2. this morning

  3. starting verse

  4. 31.

  5. Behold, the spirit sees him and he

  6. suddenly prays. They propos

  7. him and will hardly leave him. And I be

  8. your disciples to cast it out, but they

  9. could not. Jesus answered, "Oh,

  10. faithless and twisted generation."

  11. While he was coming, the demon threw him

  12. to the ground. Jesus

  13. and gather

  14. and all were astonished with the majesty

  15. of God.

  16. But while they were all marveling at

  17. everything he was doing, Jesus said to

  18. his disciples, "Let these words sink

  19. into your ears. The son of man,

  20. but they did not understand the

  21. concealed

  22. as to which of them was the greatest.

  23. Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their

  24. hearts, took a child and put him by his

  25. side, and said to them, "Whoever

  26. receives this child in my name receives

  27. me, and whoever receives me receives him

  28. who sent me, for he who is the least

  29. among you

  30. all is the one who is great."

  31. John answered, "Master, we saw someone

  32. casting out demons in your name, and we

  33. tried to stop him because he does not

  34. follow with us. Jesus said to him, "Do

  35. not stop him. For the one who is not

  36. against you is for you.

  37. Good morning.

  38. Hope everybody's keeping well.

  39. Um, what a minefield of a few chapters

  40. we have this morning or a few the chap

  41. or the verses we have this morning. When

  42. I first read this, I was like, what is

  43. going on here? There's a lot going on in

  44. these passages, isn't there?

  45. So, can you remember last week when

  46. Kevin spoke about the transfiguration?

  47. We heard about God's glory.

  48. We heard about God's glory being seen on

  49. the mountaintop.

  50. We heard that God's voice was heard on

  51. the mountaintop.

  52. Kevin reminded us that the

  53. transfiguration was all about seeing and

  54. hearing.

  55. Well, this morning I'd like to talk

  56. about understanding

  57. and how understanding is connected to

  58. our hearts

  59. and how this is the reason why the

  60. apostles or the disciples didn't

  61. understand and this is a reason why

  62. sometimes we don't understand.

  63. So Kevin said that he took us a trek up

  64. the mountain. So we're coming down the

  65. mountain and we're going back into the

  66. valley. Have you ever noticed mountain

  67. tops always glorify God? You got the

  68. covenants giving the mountain tops. You

  69. got this happening in the mountain top.

  70. But we all live in a valley. We live

  71. down in the valley.

  72. I looked at Mark's and Matthews of

  73. accounting this as well because you had

  74. to tie in the whole accounts and that

  75. actually was mind that was uh very

  76. interesting what they had to say as well

  77. about the account.

  78. So Jesus and his disciples are coming

  79. down a mountain.

  80. They go straight into a hellish,

  81. fateless, selfishness scene with people

  82. arguing amongst each other.

  83. Remember when Kevin told us last week

  84. about Peter? Peter saw it saw what was

  85. happening in the in the transfiguration

  86. and he wanted to build tents.

  87. When I was reading this, I wondered, did

  88. Peter just step off the mountain after

  89. witnessed what he witnessed and said,

  90. "Man, I knew he should have stayed in

  91. the tents." Because that's what I'd be

  92. thinking after what I heard, what I seen

  93. in the mountain. You're coming down into

  94. the valley and you you're you're you're

  95. in front of you what you're witnessing

  96. and I'd be saying to myself, "Would have

  97. stayed in the tent in the mountain."

  98. So, can you imagine experiencing this

  99. and what you're going to walk straight

  100. into?

  101. I just want to remind you as well that

  102. we need a balance when it comes to

  103. mountaintop experiences.

  104. We need mountaintop experiences to keep

  105. our faith going. Gives us encouragement.

  106. But we need to minister God's word in

  107. the valley.

  108. Do you want to know what mountaintop

  109. experiences look like in the valley?

  110. When we worship on a Sunday,

  111. it's a mountaintop experiences. God's

  112. greatness is seen. God's greatness is

  113. heard. When we pray, we have a

  114. mountaintop experience.

  115. But we must not stay on the mountaintop.

  116. We need the come down off the

  117. mountaintop experiences and we must

  118. evangelize in the valley.

  119. So let's have a look of what they walked

  120. down to and the scene when they stepped

  121. off the mountain and went into the

  122. valley versus 37 to 40.

  123. The next day when they came down from

  124. the mountaintop a large crowd met him.

  125. A man,

  126. a man in the crowd called out, "Teacher,

  127. I beg you to look at my son,

  128. for he is my only child."

  129. A spirit seizes him and he suddenly

  130. screams. It throws him into convulsions

  131. so that he forms at the mouth. It

  132. scarcely ever leaves him.

  133. and he is destroying him.

  134. I begged your disciples to drive her out

  135. but they could not. That is the scene

  136. that Jesus and the three disciples

  137. walked into.

  138. It reminds us of what Psalms the Psalms

  139. speaks in Psalm 23 verse4 the valley of

  140. shadow of death.

  141. So did you notice mountain tops again

  142. are always about God's graces and God's

  143. glory

  144. and here is Jesus a desperate man

  145. approaches him

  146. begging him

  147. to stop his only son

  148. from being destroyed by a demon.

  149. In Matthew's account, he says the man

  150. was on his knees.

  151. Can you see this? Can you picture this

  152. desperation of the man?

  153. But did you also notice that the man

  154. said he begged his disciples to cast it

  155. out, but they could not.

  156. He must have went to every one of the

  157. disciples to cast a demon out for his

  158. son. He must have went

  159. to one of them. He tried, couldn't do

  160. it. Can you imagine this? The crowd

  161. looking at this and said, "I thought

  162. these were the disciples of Jesus and

  163. they can't even cast out a demon."

  164. Why couldn't they?

  165. Why couldn't they cast out the demon?

  166. They got the 13 verses in in chapter 9

  167. verse one.

  168. Do you remember verse verse one in

  169. chapter 9? When Jesus called the 12

  170. together, he gave them power and

  171. authority to drive out all demons and

  172. cure diseases.

  173. So why couldn't they cast out this

  174. demon?

  175. Mark tells us why.

  176. In Mark 9:28,

    Mark 9:28

  177. after Jesus had gone indoors, his

  178. disciples asked him privately, why

  179. couldn't we drive her out? Do you know

  180. what the answer was?

  181. He replied, "This kind comes out only by

  182. prayer."

  183. Only by prayer. The disciples didn't

  184. even pray.

  185. Jesus is gone for the small amount of

  186. time and they stop praying.

  187. They get caught up arguing with crowds

  188. and they forget the simplest thing as

  189. prayer.

  190. How many times have we felt distant to

  191. God? How many times have you felt

  192. distant to God? I don't know about you,

  193. but I know the first time I feel

  194. distance to God, do you know what goes

  195. the first thing to go? Prayer. It's the

  196. first thing to go in my life is prayer.

  197. Prayer aligns us with God.

  198. And all we do is because of him. When we

  199. don't pray, our alignment is out

  200. and we can feel it.

  201. And you know what'll keep happening if

  202. we keep on not praying?

  203. We become weak in our faith.

  204. Can you imagine what Jesus must have

  205. been thinking thinking when he saw this?

  206. Listen to his response. Verse 41.

  207. You unbelieving and perverse generation.

  208. Jesus replied, "How long shall I stay

  209. with you and put up with your and put up

  210. with you?" [clears throat] That's some

  211. response, isn't it? You un perverse

  212. generation.

  213. Who do you think Jesus is thinking to

  214. talking to here?

  215. Who do you think G Jesus is speaking to?

  216. Based on what the father or the boy just

  217. told Jesus

  218. and looking at the verses to come, I

  219. think Jesus is talking to the disciples

  220. firstly,

  221. but he's also talking to the crowd.

  222. It might look first that Jesus is angry.

  223. Jesus is not angry. Jesus is frustrated.

  224. He is frustrated of the disciples lack

  225. of faith.

  226. After everything he has done, they still

  227. lack faith.

  228. They're still are only looking for him

  229. to fulfill their own needs.

  230. Jesus is not saying that he wants to

  231. leave them because he's angry. It's

  232. because he's frustrated.

  233. So, I just like to say at this point,

  234. Jesus will never be frustrated with us.

  235. It's I'm not saying that Jesus wants to

  236. leave us. He doesn't. He doesn't want to

  237. leave us. Jesus will never be frustrated

  238. in our need of him.

  239. He will never leave us in our need of

  240. him while we suffer. He is right there

  241. in our suffering.

  242. He will never get sick of us calling out

  243. to him.

  244. But he is frustrated.

  245. He is frustrated

  246. because unbelief.

  247. The word here

  248. perverse

  249. it means twisted.

  250. He is frustrated by their twisted faith,

  251. their hardened hearts.

  252. and they can't see beyond themselves.

  253. That's why he's frustrated.

  254. So, we seen Jesus divinity in the top of

  255. the mountain last week.

  256. In this verse, we see Jesus humanity.

  257. Some human, it's a human response, isn't

  258. it? Frustration.

  259. But we must know that Jesus, even in

  260. Jesus' humanity,

  261. he still shows his divinity.

  262. Jesus says in the end of that verse,

  263. "Bring your son here."

  264. Jesus still wants to help people even

  265. when he's frustrated.

  266. Now, before we look at verse 42, I just

  267. like to say something quickly.

  268. Just want to highlight something at this

  269. point because it's important.

  270. The devil hates you.

  271. The devil hates anyone who comes to

  272. Christ. The devil hates anyone who's

  273. thinking about coming to Christ.

  274. When you're thinking about coming to

  275. Christ, do you know what the devil does?

  276. He will throw anything at you to stop

  277. you coming. Anything he has, any

  278. footholds he's given, he will throw them

  279. to stop you from coming.

  280. Do you want to hear a few things he

  281. threw at me? He threw my past at me. He

  282. will throw everything.

  283. He told me I wasn't good enough.

  284. I don't deserve God's grace.

  285. He will never forgive me. I'm too

  286. sinful.

  287. I'm beyond forgiveness. I've called out

  288. so many times and at times he must be

  289. sick of me. He will never surely forgive

  290. a sinner like me. There's some pride not

  291. in there. [laughter] I'm so sinful. I

  292. can't be forgiven.

  293. But you know what he doesn't tell you?

  294. He doesn't tell you that the devil is a

  295. liar and a thief.

  296. The devil doesn't tell you that.

  297. Jesus has come for the least and the

  298. lost. He didn't tell you that.

  299. And everyone will fall short to the

  300. glory of God. The devil will never tell

  301. you that.

  302. So what did the devil do to this boy

  303. when he was just about to come to Jesus?

  304. His final attempt to stop him.

  305. Look at verses 42.

  306. Even while the boy was coming, the demon

  307. threw him to the ground in a convulsion.

  308. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit,

  309. healed the boy, and gave him back to his

  310. father.

  311. Wow,

  312. that verse ended with a beautiful

  313. phrase, didn't it?

  314. He gave him back to his father.

  315. He restored a father and son's

  316. relationship.

  317. The father receives his son holy.

  318. Jesus does the exactly does exactly the

  319. same thing to us when we come to him.

  320. He brings us back to our father. He

  321. mends the relationship to our father

  322. so that one day we may come

  323. face to face and look at God's face.

  324. That's what Jesus does to us as well. He

  325. mends a rel a broken relationship with

  326. our father.

  327. Look at verses 43. And they were all

  328. amazed at the greatness of God.

  329. While everyone was marveling at all the

  330. things Jesus did,

  331. he said to his disciples,

  332. "Listen carefully

  333. to what I am about to tell you. The Son

  334. of Man is going to be delivered into the

  335. hands of men.

  336. Do you notice up in the transfiguration

  337. they saw God's glory?

  338. They saw God's greatness.

  339. James, John, and Peter

  340. saw God's

  341. greatness.

  342. And did you notice here in verses 43

  343. that Luke uses the word God when he sees

  344. and they were all amazed by the

  345. greatness of God. What is going on here?

  346. Jesus is showing them a small bit of the

  347. transfiguration that was on the

  348. mountain. He's showing the rest of the

  349. nine disciples the greatness of God that

  350. they didn't see in the mountain. That's

  351. what's going on here.

  352. But notice as well when everybody was

  353. marveling about all this that was

  354. happening, Jesus took him off the

  355. mountain. He put them back straight into

  356. the valley. He stopped them from going

  357. up into the mountain because he didn't

  358. want to get too ahead of themselves. So

  359. he brought them back down. He humbled

  360. them

  361. and he said, "Put these words

  362. into your ears." Listen.

  363. Listen.

  364. I love the ESV version. They put it

  365. like, "Let these words sink in your ear.

  366. Jam them into your ears.

  367. Leave them sink."

  368. Do you ever notice in scriptures the

  369. eyes, ears, and the heart are always

  370. attached? We see, we hear, and then we

  371. understand.

  372. But what happens when we harden our

  373. heart? We have no filter.

  374. We can see, we can hear, but we don't

  375. understand.

  376. Have you ever heard the term,

  377. "My [clears throat] head is mad. Crazy

  378. head. Can't stop thinking." I heard it a

  379. few times. [laughter]

  380. [gasps]

  381. But it's like when your head when you

  382. can't get out of your own head, it's

  383. because the heart is hardened.

  384. So it's you're thinking, it's going down

  385. to the heart.

  386. The heart is hardened. There's no

  387. filter. It can't come out. So it goes

  388. shooting back up to the head again.

  389. Happens to me with resentment. The

  390. second I get resentment, my heart

  391. hardens towards the person.

  392. And I'm walking around the place for

  393. days with this guy in my head. Can't get

  394. him out. I start praying and I start

  395. reading scripture. My heart hard. My

  396. heart softens and it's gone.

  397. It's like why didn't I do that faster?

  398. So when we harden our hearts, it's very

  399. hard for our head to go down into our

  400. hearts and come out. So we can hear, we

  401. can see, but we don't understand. But

  402. what Jesus is saying is like just put

  403. them into your ears and leave it sink in

  404. because one of these days you will

  405. understand, but right now your heart is

  406. hardened. You won't understand.

  407. Also notice here that it's Jesus' second

  408. time

  409. that he predicts his death.

  410. The first time Peter, James, and John

  411. were only there. But this time, all the

  412. disciples were there. Even Judas.

  413. [clears throat] Judas was there this

  414. time when Jesus predicted his own death.

  415. But they did not understand what he was

  416. saying. It was hidden from them. So they

  417. could not grasp it.

  418. And they were afraid to ask him.

  419. Have anybody got such afraid was in such

  420. afraid he just didn't want to ask

  421. questions?

  422. I did once.

  423. Once I can remember I normally get

  424. afraid and with fear I just don't want

  425. to ask the questions. But this kind of

  426. thing that happened to me was with my

  427. dad. My dad was diagnosed with cancer

  428. five years ago.

  429. We were inside the room and the doctor

  430. came in and they said, "Ted, you've got

  431. cancer. We can't do nothing for you."

  432. I looked at my dad and my dad looked at

  433. me. And you know what? We couldn't think

  434. of one question to ask the doctor. The

  435. doctor said, "Have you got any

  436. questions?" We looked at each other. We

  437. had none.

  438. We had a lot of questions afterwards

  439. when it sunk in, but at that moment, we

  440. didn't have one question to ask him. Do

  441. you know why? Cuz we didn't want to hear

  442. it. We didn't want to face up to the

  443. reality of what was about to happen to

  444. my dad. We didn't want to face up to the

  445. reality that my dad was going to die. We

  446. just shut down and we asked no

  447. questions.

  448. And that's what's going on here with the

  449. apostles.

  450. The apostles don't want to hear him

  451. talking about his death. The apostles

  452. doesn't want to hear about him

  453. leaving.

  454. And what fear does, fear keeps us

  455. silent, doesn't it?

  456. Especially when we don't know something

  457. and we're afraid to ask.

  458. But this can turn into pride very fast.

  459. We become prideful to ask.

  460. But the apostles had no interested was

  461. not interested and had no interested in

  462. the crucified suffering Christ. They

  463. didn't want them. All they wanted was

  464. the all powerful Jesus. They didn't want

  465. them to be crucified. They didn't want

  466. them to suffer that they didn't realize

  467. without the s without the suffering or

  468. the crucified Christ there is no

  469. salvation. They were only interested in

  470. what he can do for them.

  471. In some churches in Ireland,

  472. especially Irish culture churches,

  473. they only have the crucified and

  474. suffering Christ that never comes off

  475. the cross. He's up there. He didn't come

  476. off. And they're not interested in all

  477. the all risen powerful Jesus. They're

  478. happy with the crucified and surface

  479. suffering Christ.

  480. Sound familiar? the upside down kingdom.

  481. But can I ask you something?

  482. When you call yourselves Christians,

  483. do you call yourself Christians when

  484. everything is going fine? But as soon as

  485. something happens, you tend to take the

  486. foot off the accelerator a bit.

  487. You don't want to suffer. Who wants to

  488. suffer? So as soon as suffering comes

  489. along,

  490. you're half out.

  491. Jesus isn't looking for supporters,

  492. lads. Jesus is looking for followers.

  493. Jesus is looking for followers when

  494. times are hard and when times are

  495. suffering because we are going to

  496. suffer. We're living in this world.

  497. We're living in the valley of death.

  498. There is going to be suffering. Jesus is

  499. not interested in supporters. He's he's

  500. interested in followers. We must follow

  501. Jesus.

  502. This is brilliant. [laughter]

  503. Have a look at the disciples

  504. uh hearts in verse 46.

  505. An argument started amongst them

  506. among the disciples as which of them

  507. would be the greatest. They argued.

  508. They just blanked out everything that

  509. Jesus has said and they start arguing

  510. between themselves which one of us is

  511. the greatest.

  512. They were obsessed with themselves.

  513. All they were thinking about was like,

  514. can you imagine James, John, and Peter

  515. at this at this argument? We were just

  516. up in a transfiguration. We seen God. Do

  517. you know? And and the lads are looking

  518. around like and they couldn't say

  519. nothing because Jesus told them not to

  520. say nothing. But they were thinking

  521. that. They would think I'd be thinking

  522. that if I was in that conversation, you

  523. think you're so smart. I just saw God up

  524. in the mountain. I can't tell you. You

  525. know, so so there was an argument that

  526. broke out. Which one of them is the

  527. greatest? That's crazy.

  528. Aren't we a bit like that?

  529. What happens when we first come to

  530. Christ? We're broken.

  531. We cry out desperately for him to come

  532. in and take us out of a life that's

  533. leading us to hell.

  534. But there will be come a time and there

  535. is a there always a time

  536. when we get a bit confident in our

  537. faith.

  538. We feel a bit good

  539. and all of a sudden we start looking

  540. down on people.

  541. I am the greatest. Reminds me of cats

  542. and dogs. Do you ever pet a dog? A dog

  543. would look at you and he said, "This guy

  544. must be God. He's petting me." A cat

  545. would look at you and say, "I must be

  546. God. He's petting me.

  547. We start off our life like dogs and we

  548. end up like cats.

  549. We think we are the greatest. We're all

  550. guilty of it. I'm guilty of it. It's

  551. like a spiritual snobbery that nobody

  552. speaks about. But our hearts

  553. our hearts are made up with every single

  554. kind

  555. of deceitful jealousy type.

  556. We start comparing ourselves to people

  557. especially when it comes to church

  558. people or believers or fellow our fellow

  559. church. We can we can compare ourselves

  560. to him.

  561. So the disciples here are thinking

  562. following God is like a political

  563. stance. They're looking at us and who's

  564. the greatest? Where am I in this

  565. political stance? Because they're used

  566. to political stances in Jerusalem. So

  567. they think when you follow God, you're

  568. in this kind of level of you're all

  569. right. You're getting there and then

  570. you're from Cork. It's like the top one.

  571. But Jesus exactly knows their hearts.

  572. Look at verses 47.

  573. Jesus knowing the thoughts thoughts took

  574. a little child and had him stand beside

  575. him.

  576. Then he said to them, "Whoever welcomes

  577. this little child in my name welcomes

  578. me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the

  579. one who sent me. For it is the one who

  580. is least among you,

  581. all who is the greatest."

  582. Strange response, it just gets a child,

  583. puts him next to him, says, "Have a look

  584. at this child. Whoever is like this

  585. child

  586. is the greatest.

  587. Doesn't make sense. Why? Why? Why would

  588. he put a child there?

  589. Jesus is humbling him.

  590. Jesus is saying you think you're great,

  591. but your greatness

  592. is determined on how you treat the

  593. weakness around you. That's what he's

  594. saying.

  595. In Jerusalem, a child was counted as

  596. pointless.

  597. They're pointless.

  598. They're worthless. And they were

  599. considered a waste of time to sit down

  600. to talk to, especially when it came to

  601. theological things. They were useless in

  602. that time.

  603. Romans 12:3

    Romans 12:3

  604. reminds us, "For by the grace given me,

  605. I say to everyone of you, do not think

  606. of yourself more highly than you ought."

  607. [clears throat]

  608. When you look at a child, they have no

  609. interest in status, do they?

  610. Jesus is saying true greatness is seen

  611. in the love and care for the little

  612. ones,

  613. for these helpless people, for those who

  614. the world just passes by.

  615. True greatness of people who humble

  616. themselves to associate with believers,

  617. to associate themselves with unbelievers

  618. who are unimportant

  619. and insignificant and sometimes even

  620. despised by society.

  621. We are commanded to go and make

  622. disciples of all nations,

  623. baptizing them in the name of the

  624. Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  625. Matthew 23:19. Not just the people who

    Matthew 23:19

  626. are comfortable with

  627. but everyone even the people that make

  628. us feel uncomfortable.

  629. And you know everyone here today

  630. everyone here today is equipped to do so

  631. because we have the gospel of Jesus

  632. Christ.

  633. And again the disciples didn't

  634. understand what Jesus was saying

  635. because straight away this is

  636. fantastically straight straight away in

  637. verses for verse 49 what does John say?

  638. Master said John

  639. we saw someone driving out demons in

  640. your name and we tried to stop him

  641. because he was not one of us.

  642. Do not stop him. Jesus said, "For

  643. whoever is not against you is for you."

  644. Everything that Jesus said,

  645. you can see John standing there. He puts

  646. his hand up. Master, I've just seen a

  647. guy casting out demons of your name.

  648. He's not a part of us. Who does he think

  649. he is? He just does exactly what Jesus

  650. said not to do. He didn't get it either.

  651. John here is after going into a

  652. spiritual jealousy. He's jealous.

  653. Instead of celebrating what he just

  654. seen, he's thinking, "Who does this fell

  655. think he is? He's not one of us.

  656. He's not a part of us."

  657. He thinks he's the only one that has the

  658. power to Jesus.

  659. He starts seeing other people doing what

  660. they're doing and he gets jealous.

  661. John sounds like a bad guy, don't he?

  662. But you know what? Do you have spiritual

  663. jealousy in your heart? Cuz I have to

  664. examine my heart all the time for

  665. spiritual jealousy cuz it is lethal.

  666. And if you do have spiritual jealousy in

  667. your heart, repent of it straight away

  668. because it will destroy you.

  669. Especially when it happens to fellow

  670. believers.

  671. We can see other people grow in their

  672. faith

  673. and think, who do they think they are?

  674. Which soon follows with these words,

  675. what about me?

  676. What about me? Me?

  677. Look, Irish people.

  678. What culture is into this style of

  679. thinking? But the more I meet other

  680. cultures, I realize like, no, it's not

  681. just the Irish people. I think everybody

  682. has it. Right to from Cork and then the

  683. Irish. But I think everybody has that

  684. thing inside them. We see people have

  685. things.

  686. Irish people don't want to work to get

  687. the things. They just want them.

  688. I want what he has. You know, I work 40

  689. hours in the No way am I doing. I just

  690. want it. We want things without doing

  691. work. So any opportunity that we come,

  692. we reject it. I don't want to do

  693. anything for it. I just want to give it

  694. to me. Spiritual jealousy.

  695. Brothers and sisters,

  696. we must try to stay away from spiritual

  697. jealousy

  698. when it comes because it will separate

  699. us from each other and it is used by the

  700. devil himself.

  701. We can look out into other churches and

  702. think, who do they think they are?

  703. We can easily fall into the trap and

  704. think we are the only gospel church in

  705. Cork.

  706. There is no church in this world more

  707. greater than God's kingdom. None.

  708. But we must be against churches that are

  709. not grounded in scripture.

  710. But it is not. But it is the truth of

  711. Jesus

  712. that will stop these churches, not us.

  713. So we must keep walking in our faith

  714. together

  715. and not get into arguments

  716. with other churches

  717. or with fellow believers.

  718. We must pick up our cross and walk daily

  719. in our suffering

  720. with Christ and his people

  721. until one day we hear these words.

  722. Welcome, good and faithful

  723. servant.

  724. Let's pray.

  725. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your

  726. unmeasurable grace. We thank you for

  727. your spirit and we thank you for

  728. everything

  729. you have given us. We pray, Lord, that

  730. when we go home, we'll be able to open

  731. our hearts to the people around us,

  732. Lord. We'll be able to think of people

  733. instead of ourselves. We repent of all

  734. selfishness inside our hearts. And we

  735. ask for the strength to re redirect our

  736. hearts to you and to the cross of Jesus

  737. Christ

  738. in Jesus name. Amen.
