  1. Welcome to [music] the podcast of

  4. you joined us today. If you enjoy

  5. today's message, be sure to subscribe,

  6. [music] follow, and share with your

  7. friends. Now, let's join Pastor [music]

  8. Charlie Branch with a word from God.

  9. Amen. Well, I have thoroughly enjoyed it

  10. and uh thank the Lord for everything

  11. that he's done. And I do hope and pray

  12. that something has been said or done

  13. been a help to you these days. And um

  14. if if anybody's got any help, I promise

  15. you it was him that did it. Amen. And uh

  16. and I'm glad he's able to.

  17. >> Nothing that we have need of that he

  18. can't help us with. And I'm thankful for

  19. that. Amen. Take your Bibles tonight.

  20. Let's go to the book of John. John

  21. chapter number six this evening. John

  22. chapter number six. While you're turning

  23. appreciate brother Todd McKon.

  24. I'm going I'm going to behave not say

  25. say nothing mean or anything of that

  26. nature. He probably would if he was up

  27. here, but uh I'm not going to do him

  28. that way.

  29. I appreciate him more than he knows.

  30. Dear friend of mine. Uh but he uh he

  31. does as much for Prayer Baptist Missions

  32. as probably anybody else does. And I

  33. appreciate him. I appreciate him and his

  34. ministry and what he what he does. I I'd

  35. like to think that he he drove all the

  36. way back from Robinsville out here just

  37. to hear me preach. But um I know better

  38. than that. Some grandb babies there.

  39. What brought him back? Amen. But uh

  40. I appreciate it anyway. Amen. John

  41. chapter number six tonight. Sure has

  42. been good to be with you. I hope that uh

  43. you'll take everything that the Lord's

  44. done these days and carry it on in the

  45. future and um continue to grow from it

  46. and and let God continue to work on your

  47. hearts.

  48. Uh we passed out the faith promise cards

  49. just a little while ago. Let me say

  50. something about them real quickly. Uh,

  51. that's another thing that you won't find

  52. necessarily in the scripture.

  53. Just because something's not in there

  54. don't mean it's not

  55. good to use or nothing wrong with it.

  56. Uh, somebody came up to me one time

  57. trying to bring an accusation about

  58. something that I said that wasn't

  59. actually

  60. the word wasn't actually in the book. I

  61. tell you what it was. It's the rapture.

  62. I preached about the rapture. And he

  63. said, "You know, the rapture ain't in

  64. there."

  65. >> I said, "Well, that's true. The word

  66. rapture, R A P T U R E, that that's not

  67. in your King James Bible, but uh caught

  68. up together

  69. >> is what rapture is."

  70. >> I looked at him and I said, "Listen, I

  71. got to ask you a question. You got a

  72. problem with the word Bible?"

  73. >> He said, "Not at all." I said, "It ain't

  74. in there."

  75. >> Just because something ain't right there

  76. record, I mean, that don't mean there

  77. something wrong with it. So

  78. those those cards are a good tool, a

  79. real good tool.

  80. >> And um trust that you'll be praying

  81. about that.

  82. >> Uh [snorts] he's passed them out to you.

  83. Take it somewhere and pray about it. And

  84. a little challenge here. Leave the

  85. calculator out of it.

  86. >> Yes.

  87. >> There's nothing faith about it. If we

  88. budget it and take the calculator and

  89. figure it up and what we can after after

  90. all the bills are paid and the groceries

  91. are bought and if there's anything left,

  92. we'll put that down for our faith

  93. promise. No, why don't you trust the

  94. Lord? Ask him about it and let him uh

  95. let him guide you in that. Amen. I'll

  96. probably say a little bit more about

  97. that in the message tonight. John

  98. chapter number six,

  99. I'll begin reading in verse number one

  100. tonight. The Bible said, "After these

  101. things, Jesus went over the Sea of

  102. Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias,

  103. and a great multitude followed him bes

  104. because they saw his miracles, which he

  105. did on them that were diseased." And

  106. Jesus went up into a mountain, and there

  107. he sat with his disciples. And the

  108. Passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

  109. When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and

  110. saw a great company come unto him, he

  111. saith unto Philillip, when shall we buy

  112. bread that these may eat? This he said

  113. to prove him, for he himself knew what

  114. he would do?

  115. Philip answered him, 200 penny worth of

  116. bread is not sufficient for them, that

  117. every one of them may take a little. One

  118. of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's

  119. brother, saith unto him,"There

  120. is a lad here which hath five barley

  121. loaves and two small fishes. But what

  122. are they among so many?" And Jesus said,

  123. "Make the men sit down." Now there was

  124. much grass in the place. So the men sat

  125. down in number, about 5,000.

  126. Jesus took the loaves, and when he had

  127. given thanks, he distributed to the

  128. disciples. and the disciples to them

  129. that were set down. And likewise of the

  130. fishes as much as they would. When they

  131. were filled, he said unto his disciples,

  132. "Gather up the fragments that remained,

  133. that nothing be lost." Therefore, they

  134. gathered them together, and filled 12

  135. baskets with the fragments of the five

  136. barley loaves, which remained over and

  137. above unto them that had eaten. And then

  138. those men when they had seen the miracle

  139. that Jesus did said, "This is of a truth

  140. that prophet that should come into the

  141. world." Let's pray. Father, thank you

  142. again for this great privilege you've

  143. given us to be here, not only tonight,

  144. but Lord, these services since Sunday

  145. morning. It sure has been a blessing to

  146. me. And I'm grateful for the

  147. opportunity. Lord, thank you for Brother

  148. Charlie and Sister Abby and the kids.

  149. And thank you for this church and each

  150. family, each one that makes up this

  151. congregation. I pray rich blessings upon

  152. them. Lord, I'm excited about what

  153. you're doing here and what lies ahead

  154. for your people at Meadows Baptist

  155. Church. God, give them a greater vision,

  156. Lord, than they've ever had before.

  157. Lord, give them a greater burden, Lord,

  158. than they've ever carried before. and

  159. help them to reach, Lord, farther with

  160. the gospel than they've ever reached

  161. before. Lord, I ask you now as we stand

  162. and look into the word of God, would you

  163. please help us, God? Would you touch me

  164. Aresh once again? And God, give me

  165. liberty to preach and whatever you do,

  166. Lord. We'll try. We'll try our best,

  167. God, to thank you for it and give you

  168. every bit of the glory, Lord, for it's

  169. in Jesus name we pray. And amen. And

  170. we're looking at some familiar scripture

  171. to most of you tonight here in John

  172. chapter number six. The miracle of

  173. feeding the multitude.

  174. When I look at this text and I look at a

  175. couple other parallel texts, I I see

  176. that this is one of the greatest

  177. miracles that Jesus ever did while he's

  178. here on earth. Brother Todd and I have

  179. talked about this many times and he

  180. actually gave me a couple couple of

  181. these thoughts. So I'll give credit

  182. where

  183. but there's a couple of reasons why I

  184. would believe that this is one of the

  185. greatest miracles that Jesus ever did.

  186. First

  187. of all, the miracle was with more people

  188. than any other miracle Jesus did.

  189. >> We're told in the text is about 5,000

  190. men. Another writer said 5,000 men plus

  191. women and children. And somebody a whole

  192. lot smarter than me said there could

  193. have easily been 15 to 20,000.

  194. One even said there could have been as

  195. many as 40,000

  196. people gathered there together and

  197. watched what Christ did that day.

  198. the greatest multitude

  199. watched the greatest miracle that that

  200. one of the greatest miracles that Jesus

  201. ever did and it had an effect. Verse 14

  202. said then those men when they seen the

  203. miracle when they saw the miracle that

  204. Jesus did said of a truth this is that

  205. prophet that should come into the world.

  206. Another thing about this miracle outside

  207. of the resurrection of Christ, this is

  208. the only other miracle that all four

  209. gospel writers gives their account of

  210. all four of them. This one and the

  211. resurrection is the only two miracles

  212. that all four writers told us about.

  213. That says something. But then here's

  214. probably one of the greatest reasons

  215. that I would believe this is one of the

  216. greatest miracles is that where most

  217. miracles that Jesus did were simply

  218. miracles of restoration.

  219. >> When he gave sight back to the blind, he

  220. restored their vision.

  221. >> Even when he raised the dead, he's

  222. restoring life.

  223. >> But this is not a miracle of

  224. restoration. This is actually a miracle

  225. of creation.

  226. He going to make fish that's never swam

  227. in the water.

  228. >> Yeah.

  229. >> He makes bread that's never been in an

  230. oven.

  231. >> Only God can create. Amen.

  232. >> And when I saw this, I happened to

  233. notice a little detail that has proven

  234. to be a great help to me and I hope that

  235. it'll be a help to you. I saw in this

  236. great miracle that Jesus did.

  237. I saw where a lad

  238. got to be a part of what God did.

  239. >> He didn't just watch what God did. He

  240. got to participate

  241. in what God did. I want to ask you a

  242. question. Are you interested tonight in

  243. being a part of what God is doing?

  244. >> Now, somebody's going to think or say,

  245. "But preacher, God's not doing much."

  246. >> I beg to differ with you.

  247. >> I believe God's at work as much today as

  248. he's ever been at work. And there are

  249. places around the world tonight where

  250. God's still doing some big things.

  251. >> And I think we're telling on ourselves

  252. if we say that God is not doing much

  253. where we are.

  254. >> I'll ask you, is God doing anything

  255. where you are?

  256. >> If the answer is no or not much, it's

  257. probably not his fault.

  258. I read where Jesus was in Nazareth and

  259. the Bible is clear. It said he did not

  260. do many mighty works there. He didn't do

  261. much in Nazareth. He did some big things

  262. in other places, but not in Nazareth.

  263. Why did he not do much in Nazareth?

  264. Wasn't his fault.

  265. >> It was because of their unbelief.

  266. If God is not doing anything big where

  267. you are, it could be our fault

  268. >> in our unbelief.

  269. >> I want to go out of this this year. I

  270. want to go out of my life believing that

  271. God is still on the throne and God's

  272. still able. Amen.

  273. >> Amen.

  274. >> Amen. He's still able to do big things.

  275. >> And if God's going to do something,

  276. wouldn't wouldn't you like to be a part

  277. of it? Surely you would. We've got by

  278. far too many spectators that just want

  279. to watch

  280. >> and not too many people wanting to

  281. participate in being a part.

  282. >> Amen. We don't need no more spectators.

  283. We need some participants.

  284. >> This little lad didn't get to just

  285. spectate. He got to participate. Amen.

  286. Yes.

  287. >> I started looking at this lad and if he

  288. could have a part in what God did that

  289. day, surely

  290. surely we could have a part of what

  291. God's doing in this day.

  292. >> Amen. A lad,

  293. I thought they got to be some help in

  294. this. And I found some. The first place

  295. I looked, I I love to do word studies. I

  296. I'm not good at it, but I like to try. I

  297. I listened to years to to uh some men

  298. that could take a word and dissect it

  299. and and bring out truths and nuggets

  300. that would feed your soul. And I I've

  301. tried that a few times and I've just I

  302. don't do very well, but I thought I'd

  303. give it a shot here. So, I looked at the

  304. word lad. I thought maybe there's

  305. something in that. And so, the first

  306. place I went to, I just I went to the

  307. English dictionary. I thought maybe

  308. there's something there. And uh the

  309. English definition of the word lad,

  310. y'all ready?

  311. Small child.

  312. I thought, well, I don't see nothing in

  313. that. So, I'll go to the Greek. Got my

  314. concordance out and I started looking it

  315. up and and here's the Greek word

  316. pedarian.

  317. You know what it means?

  318. Small child.

  319. I I didn't get much help there. So, I

  320. gave up on the word and I started

  321. looking at the boy. When I started

  322. looking at him, I found a few things

  323. that helped me. First of all, I noticed

  324. this about him. He is little.

  325. It's a given, isn't it? But now, don't

  326. give up just yet. I'm not thinking about

  327. stature

  328. >> or size or age.

  329. I notice some other things about him

  330. that tells me he's little. He's little

  331. in the fact that first of all, he's

  332. unnamed.

  333. >> Yeah.

  334. >> We don't know what his name is. He had

  335. one.

  336. His mama or somebody gave him one just

  337. like you was given one.

  338. >> I'd say there's a good chance the Lord

  339. knowed what his name was.

  340. >> But we don't know what his name is.

  341. >> I'll be honest with you, that that kind

  342. of helped me right there. Here's

  343. somebody that got to be a part of what

  344. God did that didn't have a big name.

  345. >> That wasn't well known.

  346. >> Amen. You don't have to have a big name.

  347. You don't have to be well known to be a

  348. part of what God

  349. >> is doing. As a matter of fact, if we

  350. ain't careful, we get too concerned

  351. about building up our name

  352. >> and not his name.

  353. >> Amen. Hey, listen. It's Wednesday night.

  354. got the meetings right now over with.

  355. And when this thing closes out and you

  356. don't know nothing about me, you've

  357. missed nothing.

  358. >> But if this thing's closed out and you

  359. don't know more know more about Jesus

  360. than what you did, we in bad shape.

  361. >> It ain't about me. It's all about him.

  362. Amen.

  363. >> He's little in the fact that he's

  364. unnamed. But then watch this. Also

  365. notice he's little in the fact that for

  366. the most part he's unnoticed.

  367. >> Yeah. I mentioned that all four writers

  368. gave their account of what happened that

  369. day. Of course, under the inspiration of

  370. the Holy Ghost. So, I flipped back and I

  371. read Matthew's account of what happened

  372. that day. And and Matthew don't mention

  373. anything about a lad. Nothing.

  374. So, I flipped over and I read Mark's

  375. account.

  376. Mark don't mention anything about a lad.

  377. I read Luke's account.

  378. Luke don't mention anything about a lad.

  379. John is the only one that gives us any

  380. idea where the bread and the fish came

  381. from.

  382. Only one. Now, y'all with me?

  383. >> Oh, we're doing good tonight. It's only

  384. about 12 minutes till 8. Y'all okay.

  385. These men wrote as they were inspired.

  386. >> You agree with that?

  387. >> That book's Holy Ghost inspired.

  388. >> But usually when God inspired these men

  389. to pin down, there are some exceptions,

  390. but usually when he inspired these men

  391. to pin down, they pinned down what they

  392. saw,

  393. what they heard, what they witnessed.

  394. And with that in mind, there's a good

  395. chance Matthew never saw the lad.

  396. There's a good chance Mark and Luke

  397. wasn't there that day.

  398. >> That's a different text. That's a

  399. different thought for a different time.

  400. >> But they wasn't there that day. But

  401. whoever informed them, whether it was

  402. Peter telling Mark or even if it was the

  403. Holy Ghost,

  404. >> they didn't see fit to tell Mark about

  405. the lad.

  406. >> Luke,

  407. according to Luke chapter 1, he probably

    Luke 1 chapter mention

  408. got most his information from

  409. eyewitnesses

  410. and of course the Holy Ghost. But nobody

  411. mentioned to Luke anything about no lad.

  412. >> I think he would have pinned it down.

  413. John's the only one. That shouldn't be

  414. surprising.

  415. Usually where Jesus is right there's

  416. where John is. Amen. And so there's a

  417. good chance that nobody noticed him.

  418. Maybe except John did.

  419. >> It helps me in the fact that nobody has

  420. to know what you're doing

  421. >> to be a part of what God's doing.

  422. >> You don't have to be in the spotlight.

  423. You don't have to be the main

  424. attraction. and everybody's attention be

  425. on you, you can still be a part of what

  426. God's doing and be in the background and

  427. for the most part be unnoticed. However,

  428. even though you may be unnoticed by man,

  429. you'll never go unnoticed by God. AMEN.

  430. AND THAT'S the one that matters. We're

  431. not trying to impress man. We're not

  432. trying to say, "Hey, look at me. Look

  433. what I'M DOING. HERE'S MY PART. THIS

  434. WOULDN'T EVER HAPPEN if it wasn't for

  435. me." NO, WE WANT ALL EYES ON HIM. AMEN.

  436. AND IF ALL EYES ARE ON HIM,

  437. >> people going to get some mail.

  438. >> Amen.

  439. >> Here's somebody got to be a part of what

  440. God did. That was number one, unnamed.

  441. Number two, unnoticed. I noticed this

  442. about him. He's little in the fact that

  443. not only he's unnamed and unnoticed, but

  444. here's somebody got to be a part of what

  445. God did that was unnumbered.

  446. Help [snorts] me out here, church. Let's

  447. see if we can picture the scene. Great

  448. multitudes gathered together. I mean,

  449. there's literally thousands of people

  450. there. Many of them's there for the

  451. wrong reason. They're hoping to catch a

  452. glimpse of a miracle. They're wanting to

  453. see a performance, but regardless of why

  454. they're there, they're there. Jesus

  455. wants to feed them. He asked the

  456. question, "When shall we buy bread that

  457. these may eat?" I don't know who all is

  458. exactly around them, but we know

  459. Philillip's there.

  460. >> Yeah.

  461. >> And they look out over the crowd. My

  462. what a crowd is gathered.

  463. >> And they sum up the need. They decide

  464. there's about, listen, 5,000

  465. men.

  466. [crying]

  467. Men. When they summed up the size of the

  468. crowd, when they summed up the need,

  469. they counted the men.

  470. >> He's a lad.

  471. Watch this. Here's somebody that got to

  472. be a part of what God did that day that

  473. didn't even count.

  474. >> Yeah.

  475. >> I'm going to change that wording around

  476. a little bit and see if this will help

  477. you even a little more. Here's somebody

  478. got to be a part of what God did that

  479. day. That was no count. Yeah.

  480. >> Amen.

  481. >> Let me help you right here. You've been

  482. wondering since Sunday. I'm going to

  483. help you. You're looking at one tonight.

  484. That's no count.

  485. >> Amen. I really ought to be in hell.

  486. >> Amen.

  487. >> Nothing. Absolutely nothing good about

  488. me except him.

  489. >> Amen. And I want to be honest with you

  490. and please don't let me hurt your

  491. feelings. But you know who I'm looking

  492. at tonight? I'm looking at a bunch of no

  493. counts.

  494. >> AMEN. YES, EVEN YOU. Every one of us

  495. ought to be in hell tonight. A bunch of

  496. no counts gathered here at Meadows

  497. BAPTIST CHURCH. BUT WHAT A BLESSING.

  498. HE'LL LET A BUNCH OF NO COUNTS HAVE A

  499. LITTLE part in what he's doing. I say

  500. bless the Lord for that. Amen.

  501. >> Amen.

  502. >> Here's what gets me every time I think

  503. of it. God could have created beings to

  504. do his will.

  505. >> Yeah, that's right.

  506. >> He could have created angels or some

  507. other

  508. >> perfect being that would not stumble,

  509. that would not struggle, that would not

  510. stutter. He could create something that

  511. would do everything he did perfectly.

  512. >> But he didn't do it. He let a bunch like

  513. me and you

  514. >> have the privilege,

  515. >> have the honor of being a part of what

  516. God is doing. Amen.

  517. >> He'll let somebody like us have a part.

  518. >> No count. I I looked at the lad and I

  519. noticed that he's little. But I

  520. continued looking and I saw a few other

  521. things. I think this one's real

  522. important. I happened to look at him and

  523. I noticed this about him. Not only is he

  524. little, he's listening.

  525. >> Yeah.

  526. >> Had to be.

  527. >> Had to be. Again, let's see if we can

  528. picture the scene. The multitudes

  529. gathered. Notice this. Nobody's

  530. preaching.

  531. Nobody's teaching. Nobody's praying.

  532. Nobody is demanding attention.

  533. What's fixing to happen? They're fixing

  534. to have a meal together. Is that right?

  535. >> Yes.

  536. Next time y'all get together for a

  537. church meal, I want I want you to do

  538. something. I want you to notice the

  539. children.

  540. Notice the youngans. I seen some tonight

  541. down there this evening.

  542. >> Children's always been children.

  543. Regardless of centuries or time frame or

  544. location, kids are kids.

  545. >> They've always just been kids. That day

  546. would have been no different if we'd

  547. looked out over the crowd and seen all

  548. these thousands of people. They'd been a

  549. group of kids back yonder. They'd been a

  550. group of kids back yonder. They'd been

  551. playing and doing their little thing.

  552. But if we can look real carefully right

  553. there around where Jesus is,

  554. he's asked the question, "When shall we

  555. buy bread that these may eat?"

  556. It don't look like a long period of time

  557. until Andrew is going to come with the

  558. lad

  559. and he's going to say there's a lad here

  560. which have five barley loaves and two

  561. small fishes.

  562. I'm concerned. I'm I'm interested. How

  563. did that lad know that the Lord's

  564. looking for bread?

  565. How?

  566. I don't think an announcement has been

  567. made. Anybody have bread?

  568. I don't think that happened. He's

  569. talking to his disciples. They're having

  570. a conversation. When shall we buy bread

  571. that these me? Philip said, why 200

  572. penny worth wouldn't be sufficient for

  573. everybody just have a little bit? Here

  574. comes Andrew.

  575. Now, here's a lad that had to be close

  576. enough to Jesus

  577. to hear the Lord speak.

  578. >> And because he's close enough to hear

  579. the Lord speak, that's how he gets to be

  580. a part of what God did that day.

  581. >> He heard the Lord mention bread. Why?

  582. He's got something with him. What's he

  583. got? He looks, he's got some bread. Now,

  584. the ideal would have been take that to

  585. Jesus, would it not?

  586. >> For some reason, it looks like he

  587. couldn't get to Jesus. He does the next

  588. best thing. He goes to one of his

  589. disciples and it's, "Oh, Andrew, I can

  590. almost see it. See if you can see it

  591. with me. Excuse me, sir."

  592. I don't want to give Andrew a bad rap.

  593. He might have he might have said

  594. something like this. "Not now, boy.

  595. We're busy."

  596. It's way us adults can be, ain't we? But

  597. he's persistent. Excuse me, sir. What is

  598. it, boy? I got some bread.

  599. How much you got?

  600. >> I got five barley loaves.

  601. I'm amazed to be honest with you. I

  602. really am. I'm amazed. Brother Todd

  603. Andrew even brought him to Jesus.

  604. >> I shouldn't be. Andrew is always

  605. bringing somebody to Jesus. Amen. He's

  606. one brought Peter to Jesus.

  607. But he brings him to Jesus.

  608. How do he know to offer his bread?

  609. He had to be listening. Had to be close

  610. enough to Jesus to hear what Jesus said.

  611. Because of that, he got to be a part of

  612. what God did that day. This is vital.

  613. Y'all with me? I'm going to quit here in

  614. a few minutes. But if you don't get

  615. nothing else I say tonight, listen to

  616. this question. It's it's important. How

  617. close are you to Jesus tonight?

  618. >> How close are you?

  619. Listen, I commend you for being in

  620. church on a Wednesday night. Some of you

  621. come in here from work and you're tired

  622. and um you really would like to be at

  623. home and relaxing, getting ready to go

  624. to bed, got to get up early in the

  625. morning. I commend you for being at

  626. church tonight. I really do. Thank you

  627. for coming. But just because you're in

  628. church on a Wednesday night, that really

  629. don't mean you're really close to Jesus.

  630. >> That's right.

  631. >> We know how to put the show on, don't

  632. we?

  633. >> We know how to act the part.

  634. >> Can I be honest with y'all? Y'all ain't

  635. going y'all ain't going to have no

  636. confidence in me. And that's really

  637. okay. You don't need no confidence in

  638. me.

  639. But I've got up I've got up to preach

  640. before,

  641. but Charlie, I'm just being honest.

  642. That's all right.

  643. And I know how to go through the motions

  644. and do the outline. And I know when to

  645. lift my voice up. And I know when to

  646. calm it down.

  647. >> I've done that before. And I've been

  648. feeling like I so far away from Jesus.

  649. >> Tell it preacher.

  650. >> Y'all ever get like that?

  651. >> Help me now. Don't tell me I'm the only

  652. one.

  653. >> Surely I'm not the only one.

  654. >> And we know how to do it. and make it

  655. look good on the outside. So, just

  656. because you're here tonight, that really

  657. don't mean you're real close to Jesus.

  658. But listen to me carefully. If you want

  659. to be a part of what God's doing, you've

  660. got to get close to him.

  661. >> Think of all the voices that day.

  662. There's there 15 20,000 people there.

  663. Think of all the noise. Out of all the

  664. noise. Out of all the voices, he heard

  665. the right one.

  666. >> He heard the master's voice. Amen.

  667. >> And because he heard the master's voice,

  668. here we are talking about him, preaching

  669. about him 2,000 plus years later, he got

  670. to be a part of what God did that day.

  671. >> All of hell, all of the world is pulling

  672. at you, trying to get you away from God,

  673. trying to get you away from Jesus. I'm

  674. telling you, it's a constant struggle.

  675. It's a constant battle to try to stay

  676. close to the Lord. Is it not?

  677. >> Oh, help me now. IT'S IT'S HARD

  678. SOMETIME. AND ALL YOU GOT TO do is just

  679. quit trying. And you don't have to get

  680. out in the world. You don't have to

  681. start cussing. You don't have to START

  682. DRINKING. JUST QUIT TRYING TO STAY CLOSE

  683. TO HIM. And you know what you're going

  684. to find? You're going to find you've

  685. drifted.

  686. >> Yeah.

  687. >> You've gotten away from God. You didn't

  688. mean to. You didn't want to. But here

  689. you are now. It seems like God's a

  690. million miles away. If if that's the

  691. case, I can tell you who didn't move.

  692. >> Yeah.

  693. >> That's right. I know who didn't move.

  694. >> It's me and you. That's right. It's

  695. >> me and you. I'm just telling you though,

  696. if we want to be a part of what God's

  697. doing, we got to get close to him.

  698. >> I challenge the church, get close to

  699. you, preacher.

  700. >> I challenge families, get close to one

  701. another.

  702. >> But please don't neglect the fact you

  703. better get close to Jesus.

  704. >> We need to be close to him. That little

  705. lad had to be right up there near where

  706. Jesus was. He wasn't playing back yonder

  707. in the back somewhere. He had to be real

  708. close

  709. >> because he was close. Heard the Lord's

  710. voice. He knew how he could be a part of

  711. what God was doing. I have people ask

  712. me, "Preacher, how do I know what God

  713. would have me to do?" Got to get close

  714. and hear his voice.

  715. >> Yeah.

  716. >> Amen.

  717. >> Amen. I wish I could shout out some

  718. orders. You know what I'd do? I'd send

  719. this couple to Africa. I'd send this

  720. couple to China. I that's my voice. You

  721. don't need to hear my voice.

  722. >> That's right.

  723. >> When I'm preaching, I guess, but the

  724. voice you're needing to hear is his.

  725. >> Yeah.

  726. >> Yes, sir.

  727. >> He was listening. Little He's listening.

  728. I got to give you this one. It's only 3

  729. after 8, y'all. Okay, sir.

  730. >> Brother Todd's going home tonight. He

  731. said, "Don't preach long."

  732. Oh, I'm trying, preacher. I'm trying.

  733. He's little. He's listening and he's

  734. limited.

  735. Oh my.

  736. If that been me, put yourself right here

  737. with me. Lord's looking for bread.

  738. I got some bread.

  739. One, two, three, five.

  740. I got five barley loaves. We got to

  741. understand something about barley

  742. loaves. Barley was a poor man's grain.

  743. Yes.

  744. >> Barley bread's a poor man's bread. One

  745. preacher said it like this and he's

  746. accurate. He said basically what he's

  747. got five crackers.

  748. >> This wasn't big loaves of bread like

  749. your mama made. Got five crackers.

  750. The Lord's looking for bread. If that

  751. had been me, Brian, I think I know what

  752. I would have done.

  753. Too embarrassed to offer such a little

  754. bit when the need's so great. I'd looked

  755. in there and I'd probably hid that

  756. behind me. I would have said, "Good

  757. luck."

  758. What would you have done?

  759. I mean, so little.

  760. The need is so great. What good's my

  761. little bit going to do? It's not going

  762. to change anything. I'll just keep it.

  763. Oh my. But see, here's the key. in the

  764. lad in the lad's hands in the lad's bag

  765. or box or basket or whatever he had. You

  766. know what that was? Five barley loaves.

  767. That's what it was.

  768. If Andrew touched it, you know what it

  769. was when he got a hold of it? Five

  770. barley loaves.

  771. But when it got in Jesus hands,

  772. >> it ain't five loaves no more.

  773. >> You know what it is now? When Jesus gets

  774. a hold of it, it's enough.

  775. >> Amen. It's enough. Oh, wait a minute.

  776. Now, they going to take up 12 baskets of

  777. leftovers. So, I guess it's not just

  778. enough. When it got IN JESUS' HANDS,

  779. IT'S more than enough.

  780. >> Amen.

  781. >> And what little we've got in our hands.

  782. That's all it is. IT'S JUST WHAT WE'VE

  783. GOT. BUT IF WE CAN GET IT IN HIS HANDS,

  784. IT BECOMES more than enough

  785. >> when he gets a hold of

  786. >> he's he's limited. He don't have much.

  787. If I had given anything,

  788. I probably wouldn't have. If id given

  789. anything,

  790. think I might know what I might have

  791. done. He's little. He's listening. He's

  792. limited. Got another one for you

  793. already. I don't like this word, but

  794. we'll use it anyway. He's liberal.

  795. >> I ain't talking about he's in con

  796. convictions and I'm not talking about

  797. his political party.

  798. I

  799. >> I believe the little fella gave

  800. everything he had. What do y'all think?

  801. >> Brother Jonathan, if that been me and

  802. I'd give anything, I know what I might

  803. have done. See if y'all with me. I'd

  804. looked in there and I'd seen five loaves

  805. and two small fishes. Here's my

  806. thinking,

  807. man. I might get hungry after a while.

  808. >> I tell you what I'll do. I'll give him

  809. three loaves and one fish.

  810. >> Yeah.

  811. >> That way after a while,

  812. I've got two crackers. I can put a

  813. sardine between and I'll have me a

  814. snack.

  815. >> Amen.

  816. Let [snorts] me throw out something

  817. here. I if he'd only given three loaves

  818. and one fish,

  819. would he not have gave more than anybody

  820. else?

  821. >> Yeah.

  822. >> And you'll never convince me he's the

  823. only one that had anything to offer.

  824. >> Yeah.

  825. >> You'll never convince me of that.

  826. >> What makes you say that? They're going

  827. to take up 12 baskets of leftovers.

  828. Right.

  829. >> Y'all help me.

  830. >> What was in them baskets?

  831. Don't tell me people showed up with

  832. empty baskets. There's some others in

  833. that crowd that had something to eat,

  834. too.

  835. >> Yeah, right.

  836. >> They just didn't offer it.

  837. >> If he'd only given three loaves and one

  838. fish, he gave more than anybody else.

  839. >> Let me ask you another question. Would

  840. it have hindered God?

  841. >> No.

  842. >> No. He could have worked with three

  843. loaves and one fish just as good as he

  844. worked with five loaves and two fishes.

  845. >> Wouldn't have entered God. But if

  846. there's anybody glad he went ahead and

  847. gave everything, I think that little

  848. fell was.

  849. >> Let's see if we can watch it unfold out

  850. here. And

  851. he he gives it Andrew takes him to the

  852. Lord as a lad here. He's got five barley

  853. loaves, too. I really wish Andrew had

  854. just stopped with that statement. He had

  855. to throw his two cents in. He said, "But

  856. what are they amongst so many?" Lord

  857. didn't rebuke. The Lord didn't say

  858. anything. He just he took what the Lord

  859. lad gave, did he not? It's in the Lord's

  860. hands. Now, watch what the Lord did. He

  861. bowed and gave thanks for it. Did he

  862. not? I wonder if I've ever given God

  863. anything that he gave thanks for.

  864. He gives thanks for it and then he I

  865. don't know if it's I don't know if it's

  866. a bag or what's it a basket?

  867. He reaches into it, does he not? He

  868. said, "There's much grass in the place."

  869. said, "Have the men sit down."

  870. That took a while. 15, 20,000, maybe up

  871. to 40,000 people getting them to sit

  872. down. Hey, everybody sit down. Everybody

  873. sit down. That took a while. And then

  874. he's going to reach in and give

  875. something. He going to give the

  876. disciples, right? Going to use the

  877. disciples, distribute this. He reaches

  878. in. He pulls it out and he gives it to

  879. the Hey, ladies, help me here just a

  880. minute.

  881. How long is it going to take to feed

  882. 15, 20,000, maybe as even many as 40,000

  883. people? How long is it going to take

  884. coming from one source to feed a crowd

  885. that size?

  886. He reaches in, he pulls out, and he

  887. gives to a disciple, does he not? that

  888. disciple takes it and he's going to

  889. deliver it to one of those that is sat

  890. down, right?

  891. >> I guess all all the disciples got

  892. involved, I'm assuming. So, they're

  893. standing there in line and Jesus is

  894. reaching in and pulling it out and

  895. giving it to another one. Now, the lad

  896. obviously has faded into the background.

  897. That's what it looks like. He's faded

  898. off into the But you know this about

  899. him, don't you? He's still watching.

  900. The Lord's reaching into what he gave.

  901. Oh, bless the Lord. He's watching the

  902. Lord reach into what he gave and he's

  903. pulling from it and he giving it to a

  904. disciple. He reaches back in and he's

  905. pulling from it and he gives it to

  906. another disciple. Y'all with me?

  907. >> Hang on now. Amen.

  908. >> 10 minutes have gone by. That lad's

  909. still watching and he's and the Lord's

  910. reaching in and pulling it out, right?

  911. 20 minutes have gone by. The lad's still

  912. watching. Lord's reaching in and pulling

  913. out. He's scratching his head. He says,

  914. "I didn't know there's that much in

  915. there." And the Lord's 30 minutes later,

  916. he's still reaching in.

  917. Y'all getting this?

  918. >> Could it be an hour has gone by? He's

  919. still watching God reach in and pull it

  920. out. Reach in. I don't know. Two hours

  921. could have went by. He's still watching

  922. God. It's all came from what he gave.

  923. >> My my and then guess what happens in a

  924. few moments? Here comes a disciple

  925. and he's bringing something to the lad

  926. and the lad gets to partake as they all

  927. going to be full. That includes that lad

  928. too.

  929. >> Yeah,

  930. >> I thought about this, brother Todd. It's

  931. possible

  932. five loaves and two small fishes might

  933. have not have filled the lad.

  934. >> Yeah, that's right.

  935. >> But I guarantee you this. Whatever one

  936. of them disciples brought him was enough

  937. to fill his belly.

  938. >> Amen.

  939. They all going to get filled

  940. off [snorts] of this

  941. and then they're going to take up 12

  942. baskets of leftovers.

  943. 12 of them. Here's the question. You've

  944. heard it before. It's been debated by

  945. the smartest. What they do with them 12

  946. baskets of leftovers?

  947. I got some good ideals and a hero of

  948. mine preached it a certain way and I

  949. just say amen. One said there's 12

  950. baskets, 12 disciples. There's a good

  951. chance that each disciple left with a

  952. basket. Might have. I don't know. But

  953. I'm going throw a biblical

  954. a biblical thought in here with it.

  955. Think on this. You can't outgive God.

  956. That's right.

  957. >> That's a principle, is it not?

  958. >> You can't outgive God. And with that in

  959. mind,

  960. >> there's a chance that that little lad

  961. had to have some help carrying his lunch

  962. back home.

  963. >> Amen.

  964. >> You ain't going to outgive God.

  965. >> Amen.

  966. >> All because a little lad

  967. was close enough to Jesus to hear Jesus

  968. say he's looking for bread and he gave

  969. what he had.

  970. Got one more and I'm done. It's 13 after

  971. 8. We're doing okay. I think

  972. >> I noticed one other thing about him. Not

  973. only is he little listening, limited,

  974. liberal, I noticed this. He's loved.

  975. >> Yeah,

  976. >> that little fella's loved. What do you

  977. mean, preacher? Just wondering where'd

  978. he get them loaves and fishes? I don't

  979. think he's the fisherman.

  980. I don't think he's the cook. I think

  981. somebody cared about that little fell

  982. and they gave something to him. What do

  983. y'all think? All he's doing is going to

  984. take what's been given him. He going to

  985. give it to God.

  986. >> Yeah.

  987. >> God going to do a miracle with it. The

  988. key to all of this, I believe this is

  989. the key.

  990. He was close enough to hear the voice of

  991. God.

  992. >> You got faith promise cards.

  993. Y'all with me? I'm done. You got faith

  994. promise cards. I want to challenge you.

  995. Get close to the Lord and listen to him

  996. speak.

  997. >> Just listen for him.

  998. Second Corinthians, we didn't go that

  999. far. 2 Corinthians chapter nine

1000. tells us that we should purpose in our

1001. heart what we should give.

1002. This don't come on a calculator or on a

1003. paper. This comes from our heart. You

1004. and God work this out in your heart. You

1005. listen to him. And whatever he tells

1006. you, that's what you need to do. Got a

1007. message. I ain't going to preach it, but

1008. I got a message out of John 2 where

1009. Mary, remember when they ran out of

  1010. wine?

1011. I ain't going to tell you the whole

1012. story. You remember it. Bottom line, she

1013. looks at some servants over there and

1014. here's what Mary said. Whatsoever he

1015. saith unto you, do it.

1016. >> I'm gonna tell you what Mary said.

1017. Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

  1018. >> Yeah.

1019. >> You want to be a part of what God's

1020. doing? Listen for him. If you'll listen,

1021. I'll guarantee you. You got to get close

  1022. to if you'll listen, he'll speak.

  1023. >> Sure.

1024. >> He'll speak and you can find out what

1025. you can do. And you can watch what God

  1026. does. Amen.

1027. That's one of the most exciting parts of

1028. the story. He got to watch what God did

1029. with what he gave. Say, "Preacher, how

1030. do we watch?" How about prayer letters?

  1031. >> Yeah.

1032. >> That's a good way to get to watch what

  1033. God does

1034. >> with what you gave. If you want to be a

1035. part of what God's doing, you can one

1036. two things you really need to focus on.

1037. Are you little enough? And will you get

1038. close enough to listen? I think some

1039. people's too big for God. Slad

1040. was little enough to be used.

  1041. >> Sure.

1042. >> And he got close enough to God and he

1043. heard the voice of God. Father, we love

1044. you. We want to thank you for giving us

1045. the privilege of getting to be a part of

1046. what you're doing. And I'm so thankful,

  1047. God, you're still doing.

1048. Help us to have the faith. Help us to

1049. believe that God, you'll even do big

  1050. things here.

1051. I know you can and I know you want to.

1052. I'm going to believe that you will. Help

1053. us to all believe that. And then Lord,

1054. when you are doing something, God, give

1055. us the desire to be a part of it. We

1056. don't want to just watch you do

1057. something. We want to participate in it.

1058. Will you let us have a part God? I know

1059. you will. If we'll get close enough to

1060. you that we can hear your voice, we can

1061. be a part of what God's doing. have your

1062. way in our hearts and we'll thank you

1063. for it. Jesus name. Heads are still

1064. bowed, eyes are still closed. I just

1065. want to ask something real quickly.

  1066. I didn't preach salvation tonight. I

1067. understand. But if you're here and

1068. you're not saved, tonight be a wonderful

1069. [music] night to come and make this God

  1070. your savior.

1071. Let me ask [music] this.

  1072. Only you can answer it. I don't I don't

1073. even know if your spouse can answer this

  1074. one for you. I I don't think your

1075. children, [music] they might have an

1076. ideal, but I want to ask you this. How

1077. close are you to Jesus [music] tonight?

1078. How close are you? You You know,

  1079. you know,

1080. you may have everybody else [music]

1081. fooled, but you know, are you close

1082. enough that if he speaks,

1083. he ain't always in the thunder. He ain't

1084. always in the earthquake. It's usually

1085. [music] that little still small voice.

1086. If he speaks tonight, are you close

  1087. enough to hear him?

1088. I tell you what you [music] want ought

1089. to want to do. Lord, help me get as

1090. close to you as I can. I want to be able

1091. to hear your voice. With all the noise

1092. tonight, with all the voices,

1093. God, help us [music] get close enough to

  1094. hear yours.

1095. We want to be a part of what you're

  1096. doing. God,

1097. help us to get close. Help [music] us to

1098. listen. Help us to listen. Let's all

  1099. stand. Something's already came. I' I'd

1100. [music] encourage you tonight. You might

1101. even bring that faith promise card with

1102. you. Bring it to an altar. Lord, I want

  1103. to hear your voice.

1104. Speak to [music] me, Lord. Help me be

1105. close enough to you. You might want to

1106. tell God you're sorry for drifting.

1107. You might want to just [music] downright

1108. apologize. Lord, I'm I'm sorry that life

1109. has just gotten so hectic. I just

1110. drifted [music] away from you.

1111. Crawl your way back close to him again.

1112. I'd [music] say probably bunch of us

1113. ought to do that. Help us, Lord. Get

  1114. close to you.

1115. >> And then when [music] we do, Lord, speak

1116. to me. Let me hear your voice. Ain't no

1117. greater voice to hear than his. I say

1118. this, ain't no greater sound than to

1119. hear his voice when God [music] speaks

  1120. to us.

1121. Somebody told me not long ago said,

  1122. "Preacher, it's been months since I've

1123. heard the voice of God. [music] That's a

1124. sad place to be in.

1125. Sad place to be in. Help us, Lord. Get

1126. close enough to hear your voice. And

1127. then when we hear it, let's be [music]

1128. obedient to it. Do exactly what he bids

1129. us. We can be a part of what God's doing

1130. right here in 2026. [music]

  1131. We can be involved.

1132. Involved in what God's doing.

1133. Amen. Amen. These praying tonight were

1134. no hurry. [music] No hurry tonight. Take

1135. all the time you need.

  1136. [music]

1137. Effective prayer is a patient thing.

  1138. Father

1139. Lord, I want to say thank you tonight.

1140. Thank you for the word of God that's

  1141. been shared.

1142. Lord, I thank you for the man of God

1143. taking time [music] to be with us this

1144. week and to help us. And Lord, we have

1145. been helped. I have been helped. I've

1146. been stirred. I've been challenged.

1147. And God, I know that you have challenged

  1148. our church.

1149. God, I pray number one tonight, Lord, if

1150. there's somebody here tonight and

1151. they're not saved, I pray, Lord, that

1152. you'd save them before they leave this

1153. place. God, that's the need of the hour.

1154. That's the cry of missions, Lord, that

1155. [music] sinners would come to know you.

1156. Lord, can't think of a better way to end

  1157. a missions conference.

1158. But Lord, I pray number two tonight,

1159. Father, that we would take these truths

1160. as your church. Lord, I know that we

1161. call ourselves Meta's Baptist Church.

1162. But Lord, I know that we are your

  1163. church.

1164. And uh Lord, I pray that you would help

1165. us, Lord, to [music] embrace,

1166. God, the fact that our little bit is

1167. enough when you take it. And [music]

1168. when we give it to you, Lord, it'll be

1169. enough and more than enough.

1170. And God, as we spend the next few days,

1171. Lord, praying earnestly praying, Father,

1172. over these faith promise cards, Lord, as

1173. it is the lifeline for our missions work

1174. here at Medas. Lord, I pray that you

1175. would help us, Lord, to God to pray and

1176. stay until we hear your voice.

1177. Lord, the old men of God used to say

1178. that we get a hold of the horns of the

1179. altar and stay until we know we prayed

1180. through. And God, I pray that you would

1181. help us to do that, Lord, to take time,

1182. Lord, to make it a priority over the

1183. next few days, Lord, to purpose in our

1184. heart, Lord. you told us in the word of

1185. God, not grudgingly nor necessity,

1186. Lord, to be cheerful in our giving.

1187. Lord, I ask you that you would give us

  1188. the strength, [music]

1189. the obedient heart of faith to do that.

1190. Lord, I pray for every need tonight,

1191. Lord. Every every heart, every burden.

1192. Well, I pray for maybe that one, Lord,

1193. that's been here tonight. Maybe they

1194. couldn't enjoy the service for some

1195. burden they have. God, I pray tonight,

1196. Lord, that the word of God would break

1197. through that burden. Lord, you'd remind

  1198. them that you're enough.

1199. That you're enough, Lord, for whatever

1200. they're lacking. And God, would you help

1201. us all, Lord, to be obedient to the word

1202. of God? Well, we give you thanks for

1203. what you do cuz you're wonderful and we

1204. love you. [music] We give you praise.

  1205. Lord, I stand amazed

1206. all that you've done. But Lord, who you

1207. are, the fact you take out time, stop by

1208. our way. Lord, I love you and I thank

1209. you tonight and I ask it all in Jesus

  1210. name. Amen.

1211. Thank you for joining our service

1212. [music] today. We'd love it if you'd

1213. join us in person the next time you are
