  1. Well, this morning I am always pumped to

  2. bring the word and we have a brand new

  3. sermon series starting our Christmas

  4. sermon series. And I'm pumped about it

  5. because we get to talk about the word of

  6. God and we also get to talk about

  7. Christmas. Now, when I say that, some

  8. people might say periodically I've been

  9. called a Scrooge in the past. Chris, my

  10. wife says yes. Uh, for sure. Um, and

  11. I'll tell you what, I like Christmas,

  12. but I also think this is very very

  13. important and I I there's probably some

  14. sort of line in this room and we should

  15. like sit on opposite sides or something,

  16. but to me Christmas clearly begins it

  17. must begin after Thanksgiving. Like it

  18. just needs to be an afterth Thanksgiving

  19. sort of a situation. Um, it's not like

  20. July. We don't set up Christmas in July.

  21. Nor do we need to set up Christmas in

  22. September, October, or early November.

  23. like wait until after Thanksgiving and

  24. then I'm all for it and I'm all for all

  25. the fun. Uh maybe some of you I just

  26. offended you and I apologize about that.

  27. But hey, what can I say? But decorations

  28. are a huge deal. Okay, for some of you,

  29. how many of you decorations are a huge

  30. deal? Like your house right now looks

  31. like Hallmark. Yeah, there's there's

  32. some How many of you if there was never

  33. a decoration in your house, you would be

  34. just fine. Like how many I I see some

  35. folks actually you guys raised more

  36. hands than the ones who said they like

  37. decorations. So first service it wasn't

  38. quite like that but I like this group.

  39. This is wonderful. But Christmas is

  40. wild. There's decorations. There's

  41. things that happen. There's there's

  42. parties. There all of the things. And

  43. this morning, you know, when I was

  44. thinking about decorations, uh this that

  45. I have here before you, this is my

  46. literally my favorite Christmas

  47. decoration uh that's in our house. Uh, I

  48. bought this for my wife when we or when

  49. I was in Africa and in Tanzania. And I

  50. don't know, it looks like someone spent

  51. a whole lot of time, way too much time

  52. creating this awesome little hut. And

  53. then there's all of the little pieces

  54. and parts to the Christmas uh story. The

  55. angel, which I don't think it's made to

  56. do this, but the angel up on top is

  57. wonderful. And when you think of

  58. Christmas, you have all of these things

  59. and decorations, and maybe you're still

  60. in the process of setting those up, but

  61. they're kind of important. like you have

  62. the wise man and you've got to get them

  63. all maybe in your house. You've got to

  64. put them at the right place and be sure

  65. that they're where they should be. Uh

  66. there's some more a kneeling wise men. I

  67. think that's pretty important and we we

  68. wouldn't want to forget him. And so we

  69. we get those things placed where they

  70. should be. Um I think another important

  71. one when you get to this is a shepherd.

  72. And it's probably not a dog because that

  73. wouldn't necessarily I don't know if

  74. they did that, but this looks like

  75. there's a dog that this shepherd's

  76. holding. So I like this guy. He's going

  77. to be in a prominent place, right?

  78. anybody else just you know whatever you

  79. enjoy you you kind of make it happen. Uh

  80. I think it's important the little

  81. animals right and when we think of

  82. Christmas we kind of place these things

  83. all around our house all around our

  84. community. Uh I think Joseph is probably

  85. pretty important. So we'll put him in

  86. here. Uh get him placed and and of

  87. course we have to be sure and put Mary

  88. uh because she's important. Very very

  89. important. And the most important one of

  90. all, of course, is Jesus. And in this

  91. case, we have this nice little manger.

  92. And we're going to put him so that

  93. everyone can see him. But whatever your

  94. uh your decorations look like,

  95. most of us have decorations we love. And

  96. if not, you can drive down the street

  97. and see decorations. We were going I it

  98. was somewhere in Pal. I forget what road

  99. we were on, maybe hard road. And there

  100. was a house that had I bet a hundred

  101. inflatable

  102. uh Christmas things in their yard. I

  103. mean, there was no more yard left. It

  104. was just inflatable after inflatable.

  105. Like all of these things, some that had

  106. a lot to do with Christmas. Some that

  107. just put like a wreath on someone's head

  108. or something and now it's Christmas. I

  109. don't know why. I don't know how much

  110. money they spent, but it was a lot of

  111. money that they spent on decorations.

  112. And when we think about Christmas and we

  113. think about decorations,

  114. um,

  115. I think there's so much that we can

  116. learn. In fact, Avery, my 16-year-old

  117. daughter, the last couple of years, we

  118. didn't put Christmas lights on the

  119. outside of our house. And she was sure

  120. that our neighbors would think we didn't

  121. know Jesus because we didn't have

  122. Christmas lights up. So, how could they

  123. know we celebrate Christmas? And she

  124. like, she was personally offended by

  125. this. And I'm like, I don't think that

  126. the Christmas lights on our house are

  127. the thing that's going to tell them that

  128. we love Jesus. I hope. If if so, I don't

  129. think that's the best. We need to do

  130. better. Right now, this year, I put I

  131. did put Christmas lights on her house

  132. and she's very very excited about that.

  133. But decorations,

  134. we decorate and we we build and we put

  135. things together. If you drive by my

  136. parents house, they've have the whole

  137. like life-siz nativity out in front of

  138. their house. There's there's decorations

  139. and things that we are a part of.

  140. But when we think about the word of God

  141. and when we think about what he has for

  142. us, I think decorations are the absolute

  143. maybe lowest on the list of Christmas

  144. importance. Right? I'm just being real.

  145. I don't want to offend anybody. Uh but

  146. we are decorating our homes and I think

  147. heaven continues to announce King Jesus.

  148. Continues to talk about, continues to

  149. point to Jesus. continues to say, "There

  150. he is. Let's go after Jesus." And today,

  151. we're going to learn a few things out of

  152. the the story of the wise men that I

  153. think can help us focus on what we

  154. should do and how we should act and what

  155. should happen out of and because of

  156. Christmas.

  157. The first thing that we could look at is

  158. that we see Christmas is about seeking.

  159. It's not only celebrating. It's not only

  160. a party. It's not only about Friday

  161. night or next Sunday morning's going to

  162. be a great time with family and friends

  163. and we're going to have church. We're

  164. going to have kids sing some songs. It's

  165. going to be a great time together. But

  166. Christmas is way more than celebrating.

  167. In verse two, Matthew chapter 2, we saw

    Matthew 2 chapter mention

  168. it says, "For we saw his star when it

  169. rose and have come to worship him." This

  170. seeking is an important part of what

  171. Christmas is all about. And when we

  172. think of Christmas, I think we could

  173. also just lose the must and just put

  174. Christ when we're seeking after Christ,

  175. right? We are all about and we should be

  176. about seeking. And I don't care if

  177. you've been at Radiant Life Church for

  178. months or years or maybe this is your

  179. first time at Radiant Life Church or

  180. maybe you're like, I was drugged here by

  181. a family member and I don't even know

  182. about church. Guess what? This is what

  183. Christmas is. It's seeking. It's saying,

  184. what do you have? We believe the word of

  185. God. We believe in Jesus. And if you

  186. say, "Hey, I want to know more." You

  187. begin to seek. You begin to walk a

  188. journey and say, "Lord, what do you have

  189. for me?" That is what it is all about.

  190. Just like the wise men who they saw a

  191. star when it rose and they came to

  192. worship.

  193. When I think about these wise men, it

  194. wasn't about tradition.

  195. They didn't come for this yearly moment.

  196. They didn't come for this this thing

  197. that had to be just certain way, but

  198. they came because they saw something.

  199. They experienced something that was

  200. different and they responded to that

  201. thing. They responded to what was

  202. happening. They began to seek because

  203. they did not necessarily fully

  204. understand, but they knew enough to say,

  205. "Wow, there's something. There's someone

  206. that's different and I need to

  207. experience this person."

  208. They understood enough that they say,

  209. "I'm going to seek and I'm going to

  210. find." And when we think of the star and

  211. we think of decoration,

  212. it's not just a decoration, but it's

  213. something that should remind us that

  214. Jesus is worth pursuing. Just like the

  215. wise men, they saw the star and they

  216. begin to go and follow him.

  217. I pray that all of the decorations, all

  218. of the things, all of the nativities,

  219. that they're not just stuff that we have

  220. in our house, but they're things that

  221. help us focus on what matters most.

  222. That they help us focus on Jesus.

  223. Christmas is about seeking. Christmas is

  224. also it's a direction. It's not just a

  225. decoration. It's not just the things

  226. that we have. In verse 3-8, uh, pulling

  227. out some parts, it says, "When Herod the

  228. king heard this, he was troubled and

  229. gathering all the chief priests and

  230. scribes, he inquired of them where the

  231. Christ was to be born."

  232. Christ Christmas is about seeking and

  233. it's about finding the direction and

  234. saying, "Where is Jesus?" The wise men

  235. began this journey and they began to ask

  236. uh including going to Herod the king

  237. saying where is this one? Where is he?

  238. We want to worship. We want to go to

  239. him. We want to find him.

  240. And Christmas needs to be about saying

  241. Lord we're open to you. But then also

  242. Lord am I going the direction that you

  243. would have me to go? Am I following your

  244. plan? Am I following your path for my

  245. life?

  246. And we find out throughout the word of

  247. God and in history and with friends and

  248. family that so often the same Jesus that

  249. we read about here from the wise men and

  250. from Herod, they experienced him in

  251. different ways. Their response was

  252. different. The same Jesus but a

  253. different response.

  254. Herod because he wanted power because he

  255. wanted to reign because he didn't want

  256. anybody to come against him. Herod.

  257. Herod was threatened by Jesus. Herod

  258. said, "No, no, this is no good." And in

  259. his heart, he wanted to kill Jesus. He

  260. wanted to get rid of Jesus. He wanted to

  261. to remove the threat as he would see it.

  262. Whereas the wise men, when they heard

  263. about Jesus, they were thrilled. They

  264. wanted to give their lives. They wanted

  265. to give their time and their treasure,

  266. their their talent, everything they had

  267. to go and to find this Jesus.

  268. One that was going towards Jesus and one

  269. that was running away from Jesus and

  270. wanted to get rid of Jesus.

  271. So often we can think about the

  272. direction or we can think about

  273. decorations and we might even put all

  274. the right decorations out. We might have

  275. all the right things. It might look

  276. good, but

  277. on the inside, we're not decorated at

  278. all. We're not prepared. We don't have

  279. our heart made right with the Lord.

  280. We're distant on the inside. Christmas,

  281. Jesus, isn't about a moment, not about a

  282. story, not about something that happened

  283. a long time ago. But Christmas is about

  284. Jesus who is at the right hand of the

  285. father because he came as a child. He

  286. lived a sinless life because he then

  287. died on a cross to take our sin away and

  288. then he rose again and ascended to the

  289. right hand of the father. He's not

  290. something we remember, but he's

  291. something we experience and we walk in.

  292. And I pray that the decorations of

  293. Christmas, the season of Christmas, the

  294. gatherings of Christmas, I pray that all

  295. of them help guide us and point us even

  296. more towards Jesus, towards the star, to

  297. where we are called to be.

  298. When I think about this direction, I

  299. think so often people say Jesus is

  300. welcome. In fact, you're here on Sunday

  301. morning. I bet all of us would say,

  302. "Jesus, you're welcome. Jesus, I I'm all

  303. here for you. Jesus, do something. But

  304. the thing that we have to understand is

  305. that when we're in a plan with Jesus,

  306. it's not only about saying we're

  307. welcome, but it's about letting him

  308. change our lives. It's about letting him

  309. transform us. It's about saying, "If I

  310. was going that way, but now I see the

  311. star. Now I see you, Jesus, and I'm

  312. going to follow you. Then my life looks

  313. different, and I'm letting him change me

  314. from the inside out. I'm letting him

  315. renew me. I'm letting him do something

  316. in me that as I seek and as I find and

  317. as I move towards him, my life will be

  318. transformed. Which means for each one of

  319. us, is our heart open to the things of

  320. God? Is our heart open to say, Jesus,

  321. you move. Jesus, you show up. Jesus,

  322. anything you ask, I will do. Even if I

  323. didn't even know before, but today you

  324. reveal. Lord, I'm going to let your word

  325. be everything in my life, and I will

  326. respond to you.

  327. Christmas, it's a decoration. I mean

  328. it's a direction not a decoration.

  329. As we seek him, as we look for the

  330. direction of Christ, I think we realize

  331. that Christ Christmas that he is the

  332. light.

  333. Christmas isn't about entertainment.

  334. It's not about what we can see or the

  335. special moments that we can experience.

  336. But Christmas, it's about Jesus. It's

  337. about realizing who he is. Verse 9 and

  338. 10 it says, "The star which they had

  339. seen in the east went before them. When

  340. they saw the star, they rejoiced with

  341. exceedingly great

  342. joy.

  343. They understood that Jesus is what the

  344. celebration was about. Jesus is where

  345. they needed to go. Jesus was the light.

  346. Jesus is the one." And I want to

  347. encourage us as a church family not to

  348. get distracted by the things and the

  349. entertainment and the opportunities and

  350. miss the light, miss who he is this

  351. season and all year long.

  352. The joy can't be from the lights that

  353. are on our house, but it's from the

  354. light through Jesus in your soul.

  355. When we get to Christmas season, my

  356. wife, she loves it. It just brings her

  357. so much joy, the Christmas lights and

  358. going down through the the neighborhoods

  359. and it, you know, the rest of the year

  360. it's normally fairly dark and it's it's

  361. whatever. There's just not that much

  362. light, but at Christmas there's houses

  363. and and there's people that have all the

  364. fun things. It's like, woo, this is

  365. awesome. We do those same things in our

  366. house and now you've got a Christmas

  367. tree and for some reason we have I think

  368. three Christmas trees in our house and

  369. it brings my wife joy. She loves it.

  370. It's fun. Maybe some of you are like

  371. that. But you know what? No matter how

  372. many houses have lights or no matter how

  373. many trees we have in our home, if we

  374. don't understand that Jesus is the one

  375. that brings true joy, then after a

  376. moment of oo happiness, after a moment

  377. of this is awesome, we're going to fall

  378. back into the uh I just don't feel it. I

  379. don't know. I I don't have what I need.

  380. We must walk in the joy of the Lord and

  381. let him do something in our lives.

  382. Now, a few weeks ago, uh, the church

  383. staff, we went and, uh, soon you're

  384. going to be receiving here in the next

  385. couple weeks before Christmas a

  386. Christmas card. And I just have to say,

  387. I'm going to build it up right now. This

  388. is my favorite Christmas card we have

  389. done as a church staff in a long, long

  390. time. I mean, a long time, it's

  391. hilarious. If you don't get it, if you

  392. don't laugh, number one, if you don't

  393. get it, that means we don't have your

  394. address and you need to go to the new

  395. year table, be sure that we have it so

  396. that, you know, if by Christmas you

  397. don't get it, please be sure to fix

  398. that. But secondly, if you don't laugh

  399. when you get this card or at least smirk

  400. or something, then I apologize. I guess

  401. we missed the mark. But it's funny. It's

  402. a funny card. And on the other side, you

  403. can have more of a serious experience if

  404. you just want us all lined up nice and

  405. neat. And then you can get that side,

  406. too. But we went to this tree farm and

  407. we were goofing off and taking pictures

  408. and you'll see when the card comes. It

  409. was a lot of fun. But we wanted to get

  410. the things and we wanted to get the tree

  411. and we wanted to figure it out. And so

  412. Paul, the guy that had the tree farm, he

  413. let us come out on, I think a Tuesday.

  414. They were weren't even open. And so we

  415. were all over this place and he was

  416. trying to get us to go to where the nice

  417. trees were for this year. We however

  418. found the tree that we wanted and it was

  419. like this tall. And so we're like, we

  420. found the tree and I we brought him

  421. over. Pastor Nate and I we we got him

  422. and he was coming. He's like, you want

  423. that tree? And like, yep, that's the

  424. one. I think Rachel was like hugging it

  425. or something. And it was just a weird

  426. moment. And Paul, I'm pretty sure,

  427. either loved this moment or he thought,

  428. "These people are nuts." Maybe both. He

  429. might have loved it and thought these

  430. people are nuts. It was so much fun. We

  431. had conversation. We got to talk about

  432. various things. We got to pray for Paul.

  433. We got to just have a great moment where

  434. the Christmas tree and the Christmas

  435. card we were creating with all of this

  436. Christmas tree stuff.

  437. It was fun. But it all comes down to,

  438. are we walking in the power of God or

  439. was it a fun hour or so at this

  440. Christmas tree farm? Because I like

  441. having fun with friends. I like having

  442. fun doing things. I like the enjoyment.

  443. I like the entertainment. But I so much

  444. more than entertainment for me and for

  445. you. Pray that we walk in the power of

  446. God. That we walk with the joy of the

  447. Lord being our strength, being who he is

  448. in us, calling us to greater things.

  449. that we let the goodness of God

  450. overwhelm us. That there's such joy that

  451. even when life doesn't feel like we're

  452. messing around at a Christmas tree farm,

  453. I can have joy because I walk in the

  454. power of God and the presence of God, I

  455. can have joy because he is the one

  456. that's the light in my life. Not a

  457. Christmas tree, not a light, not any of

  458. that stuff, but I make him the Lord and

  459. I experience him. Now, just in case you

  460. want to see this tree, it is in the

  461. great house. As you exit uh this morning

  462. on the right hand side in the window,

  463. you can see it. It's it's up high. So,

  464. you can see the whole tree. It's a very

  465. beautiful tree in that window. Uh you

  466. can also stop by anytime. We'd love to

  467. show it to you. But it's just this

  468. little nice tree, but that tree only

  469. brings joy for so long. And in fact, if

  470. I'm going to be real, you know that

  471. tree, the very next time that I went

  472. into the office, all of a sudden, there

  473. are now green uh things all over the

  474. needles are all over the floor. It

  475. begins to die immediately. And if we're

  476. looking for entertainment and we're

  477. looking for our joy from the things of

  478. life, we're going to miss it. But

  479. Christ, he is the light. That's what

  480. Christmas is all about.

  481. Christmas is about seeking. Christmas is

  482. about a direction. Christmas is about

  483. the light. It's about Christ. And fourth

  484. today, Christmas is humble surrender.

  485. Verse 11 says, "And when they had come

  486. into the house, they saw the young child

  487. and fell down and worshiped him. They

  488. fell down. They give him glory and

  489. honor." And I'm just saying when I think

  490. of this moment, they've come from a far

  491. off. They followed a star. In fact, if

  492. someone said, "Hey, I followed this star

  493. and now I'm here." If you're like me,

  494. you're probably like, "You're a little

  495. nuts." Herod, he didn't think they were

  496. nuts. He thought it was real, right?

  497. Because he said, "Come tell me where he

  498. is." But I'm just saying sometime that

  499. would be a little weird. But these guys

  500. had such conviction in their hearts that

  501. they left what was normal. They took a

  502. journey to come and to find Jesus, to

  503. put the pieces together, to ask the the

  504. political leaders to say, "Where is this

  505. Jesus?" to be led to Bethlehem. The star

  506. came and what did they do when they got

  507. there? They kneel down in humble

  508. worship. They came with gifts. And this

  509. little piece shows they kneel before the

  510. Lord. They humbled themselves.

  511. These people were worth way more. Way

  512. more.

  513. They went to poor people. They went to

  514. environment that probably wasn't at all

  515. what they were used to. But they

  516. understood the power of God. And they

  517. come and they surrendered themselves.

  518. They realize it's not about the moment.

  519. It's not about the stuff. It's not about

  520. what even Jesus and Mary and Joseph had

  521. about the decor, but it's about the one

  522. that they came to find and they humbled

  523. themselves.

  524. And when we think about Christmas and we

  525. think about what God has called us to,

  526. church, I want to encourage not to just

  527. make a big show of it, not to make a

  528. special thing of it. And we do all that

  529. stuff. There's Christmas and lights and

  530. nativities and all of the things, but

  531. church, it can't be about the nativity.

  532. It has to be about Jesus. And it has to

  533. be about us coming and kneeling down

  534. before him, offering him our life. And

  535. not just in action, but literally

  536. everything. Lord, I give you every part

  537. of who I am. I humble my heart, my

  538. spirit before you. We make him truly and

  539. give him the rule of lord of our lives.

  540. When we humble ourselves, we see some

  541. things happen. We have a position

  542. change, right? They fell down and

  543. worshiped him. They had a heart change

  544. or they they they worshiped. They gave

  545. him glory and honor. It wasn't about

  546. them. It wasn't about what they had done

  547. or who they were. It was about Jesus.

  548. I think there was a life change.

  549. They opened their treasures. They opened

  550. who they were and laid those down and

  551. gave them the King of Kings and Lord of

  552. Lords. And I'm just being real with you.

  553. If you are putting yourselves in their

  554. spot, they finally get here. The star is

  555. in the sky and they realize, "Oh, wow.

  556. There's a baby that was maybe one or two

  557. years old somewhere in that range like a

  558. little kid. I nobody but I'm not I'm

  559. just saying if I'm showing up, I'm not

  560. going to worship your kid, right? Like

  561. that's weird." But they understood that

  562. this kid wasn't just a kid. This star

  563. wasn't just a star. It wasn't just

  564. something that was happening, but it was

  565. God revealing himself to them. That God

  566. was showing up and they understood, I'm

  567. going to surrender even to what seems

  568. like a baby, what seems like a small

  569. child.

  570. And church, we have the full story. We

  571. understand that Jesus, he came, he

  572. lived, he didn't just stay in heaven,

  573. but he came to walk as a baby, a man.

  574. He lived a perfect sinless life. He died

  575. for us. He then rose again. He sits at

  576. the right hand of the father. And if

  577. they could humble themselves, how much

  578. more, church, we must have hearts. We

  579. must have homes that are humbled to the

  580. God of the universe. It's not about the

  581. decor of your life or Christmas season,

  582. but it's about humbling ourselves before

  583. Jesus.

  584. Point five today is Christmas is life

  585. transformation.

  586. As we head towards close, I want someone

  587. to hear today, it's not about holiday

  588. tradition. It's not about what has been

  589. for years or been for decades or

  590. something you can't remember it not

  591. being like, but it's about

  592. transformation. And this may be a word

  593. for somebody, but sometimes I think we

  594. get so worked up about the tradition. We

  595. get so worked up about the things. We

  596. get so worked up about how things have

  597. to be that we can miss the point of why

  598. we are celebrating in the first place.

  599. And I want to throw it out there. If you

  600. skip a tradition, but you experience a

  601. little more of Jesus, I want that in my

  602. life every single time. If something

  603. happens, maybe even in a family

  604. gathering, you can overlook something

  605. someone does. You don't have to pick a

  606. fight in that situation because it's

  607. okay. Even if it messes up the

  608. tradition. Even if it messes up the

  609. moment to you, we can bring peace and

  610. joy. Why? Because it's about life

  611. transformation. It's not about the thing

  612. or the tradition or the decoration. It's

  613. not about the moment except saying,

  614. "Lord, what do you want to do and how do

  615. you want to show up?" And the word would

  616. call us to be peacemakers. The word

  617. would call us. In fact, that word

  618. overlook yesterday. We were praying

  619. right up here for Saturday morning

  620. prayer and that word came up that we

  621. could pray that we would overlook

  622. things. We wouldn't cause problems or

  623. others could overlook things. And my

  624. prayer for us as a church and that when

  625. we get together with family that maybe

  626. there's some things and some moments

  627. where I would have said something in the

  628. past or I would have done something that

  629. maybe I shouldn't have said or done in

  630. the past but this year Lord help me to

  631. overlook things I don't need to respond

  632. to. And help me be led by you so I know

  633. when I need to speak up right Lord I

  634. don't know what to do but you do. And

  635. when we walk with the Lord we realize

  636. it's seeking him. It's direction finding

  637. him. It's going after him. We realize

  638. he's the light. And as we surrender to

  639. him, there can be life transformation

  640. for us continual. And there can be life

  641. transformation for the people around

  642. you. God wants to do something. And true

  643. worship always produces direction. It

  644. always produces an obedience in a

  645. different way, a transformation in our

  646. life. And that's what Christmas, that's

  647. what Christ is all

  648. about.

  649. So maybe we need to give up a tradition

  650. that actually doesn't matter so that we

  651. can experience transformation that will

  652. change us and will matter for eternity.

  653. Maybe we need to give up something that

  654. we'd say that's just how I am. No,

  655. that's not how we are. Instead, Lord,

  656. would you transform me and would you

  657. make me new and make me whole?

  658. These wise men in verse 12 we see they

  659. came one d way but they left another

  660. because it says then being divinely

  661. warned in a dream. They departed for

  662. their own country another way. And

  663. church, I just believe there's some

  664. moments in our life where we must come

  665. to the Lord and where we must say, "God,

  666. I'm going to come one way, but I'm

  667. leaving a different way because you've

  668. spoken." And when you speak, no matter

  669. what Christmas with family has been like

  670. before, Lord, what do you want it to be

  671. like now? Lord, whatever Christmas has

  672. been like at my work, Lord, what do you

  673. want it to be like now? What about with

  674. friends? Lord, what it was, I'm going to

  675. do what you've called me to do. And so,

  676. Lord, what do you want Christmas to look

  677. like now?

  678. Let transformation happen in our lives

  679. that we're focused on the King of Kings

  680. and the Lord of Lords. That maybe we

  681. came in one direction, but like the wise

  682. men, we say, "Lord, you've spoken and

  683. I'm going to go out a different

  684. direction."

  685. Church Christmas is way more than one

  686. moment. It's way more than even a day

  687. 2,000 plus years ago, although that's

  688. what it's about. But it's about what

  689. Jesus did from that moment. until now.

  690. It's about who he is in our life. And as

  691. we celebrate and we have decorations and

  692. we have all of the things of of life and

  693. maybe nativities and Santaas and all the

  694. things that whatever you have fun with

  695. at Christmas, great church. We can't get

  696. distracted by these things and miss what

  697. he wants to do. And my prayer is that we

  698. would open our hearts to him. We'd open

  699. our lives to him and say, "Lord, how do

  700. you want to move? How do you want to

  701. speak? What do you want to do in me that

  702. I look different at the end of December

  703. than at the beginning of December?

  704. Lord, what do you want to speak to me

  705. from your word? How do you want to

  706. change my life that what I thought was

  707. just who I am? That by the end of

  708. December, I don't think that's who I am

  709. anymore because you've spoken and I've

  710. left different than when I came.

  711. Church, Christmas, it's more than just a

  712. moment. It's more than just a day, but

  713. it's about a savior who is alive and

  714. well. It's about a savior that loves

  715. you. It's about a savior that has the

  716. greatest things for you. That wants to

  717. wrap you in his arms. That wants to take

  718. care of your problems and your

  719. situations. That wants to celebrate in

  720. the victories. It's about a savior that

  721. loves you so so much. And let's not miss

  722. who he is. Let's not get distracted

  723. because of the stuff, the decorations,

  724. the traditions, but let's let him move.

  725. Let's let him speak this morning. Maybe

  726. you're here and you'd say, "You know

  727. what? I don't really have a relationship

  728. with this Jesus." Maybe you'd say, "I I

  729. don't even understand all of it, but I

  730. know there's something going on inside

  731. of me." And the Bible would say that he

  732. stands at the door. He knocks. He wants

  733. us to let him in. That Jesus, the savior

  734. of the world, he created you and he

  735. wants to save you and make you new and

  736. invite you to be his son or daughter

  737. this morning. And if it's for the first

  738. time or maybe you need to rededicate

  739. your life because you just haven't been

  740. walking in him. You haven't looked like

  741. his word lately. You say, "Jesus, I one

  742. more time want to welcome you." He

  743. welcomes you and he would say yes to

  744. you. And all that you have to do, the

  745. Bible says, is to repent, to proclaim

  746. his him as Lord, to believe in your

  747. heart that he died, he rose again, and

  748. he will welcome you today. In fact, as a

  749. church family, if we could, if we could

  750. just bow our head, close our eyes today.

  751. You don't have to pray with your head

  752. bowed or your eyes closed, but just to

  753. focus on him,

  754. you'd ask him, "Lord, am I where I

  755. should be with you?

  756. Do you have a relationship with Jesus?"

  757. And if you'd say, and he would reveal

  758. that, "No, you don't." Then today is the

  759. day. Today is the day I believe. All you

  760. have to do is believe in your heart of

  761. salvation. The number one thing, the

  762. reason we are here as a church family,

  763. if you say, "I want life transformation

  764. this Christmas season. I want it today."

  765. And I'm going to ask you all over this

  766. room just to raise your hand. That you'd

  767. say, "That's me." If you're here and you

  768. say, "I want to make Jesus the Lord of

  769. my life." Would you just raise your

  770. hand? I just want to catch your your

  771. eye, see that hand, and uh pray. Then

  772. we're going to pray together. Anybody in

  773. this room, you say, "That's me." Today,

  774. I don't want to miss anybody. This is

  775. the most important thing that we can do.

  776. Also, maybe you're at home today and if

  777. you'd say, "Hey, I want to know Jesus."

  778. All you have to do is ask him, "Lord,

  779. forgive me of my sins.

  780. I make you Lord of my life. I repent of

  781. the things I've done against you or

  782. others." In your own words, whatever it

  783. would be, and he welcomes you in.

  784. There's nothing more important than

  785. that. Church family, could we r uh just

  786. stand this morning? I want to pray a

  787. prayer of blessing over you all if

  788. you're able today.

  789. But Lord, we're thankful. Lord, we love

  790. you. And Lord, I pray for these people,

  791. for the Rad fam, Lord, that we would be

  792. radiant in all we do. Lord, that our

  793. faces would demonstrate, Lord, what

  794. you've done in our lives. That joy would

  795. flow from us, Lord, that you would use

  796. us. And even as we've looked at today,

  797. Lord, help us continue to seek you,

  798. continue to find the direction towards

  799. you because you are the light,

  800. Jesus. You are everything. So we come

  801. and we humbly surrender ourself. We lay

  802. our lives down before you and ask you,

  803. Lord, would you heal us? Would you make

  804. us new? Would you transform our lives?

  805. We want to look like you, Jesus, more

  806. than ever before. So Lord, make us new.

  807. Lord, I pray people that maybe have a

  808. problem or a situation or an issue

  809. today, maybe that even sin issue in

  810. their life, Lord, would you transform

  811. that area? Would you make it new? bring

  812. life to them so that we can come one

  813. way. But Lord, we choose in you and your

  814. power to leave another. Bless your

  815. church. Let us walk in you. Walk in your

  816. life. Lord, we thank you. We praise you

  817. and we worship you. You are so so good.

  818. Thank you for these people. Bless them.

  819. In your name we pray. Amen. And amen.

  820. Well, come on church. Our God is good in

  821. this place. He's so good. Thank you for

  822. coming. And before you leave, I just

  823. want to remind you if you're not signed

  824. up for the Christmas party Friday night

  825. 6:30, sign up. Let us know you're

  826. coming. Food, entertainment, it's going

  827. to be a blast. We're going to have a lot

  828. of fun fellowship. We're going to be

  829. right in here enjoying each other's

  830. company. It's going to be a great time.

  831. Sign up. Let us know. Radiant.Family or

  832. the church center app. But pray you or

  833. have begun your Christmas season in a

  834. good way. And pray God blesses you this

  835. week. Be careful what you watch. Be

  836. careful what you listen to. Be careful

  837. what you talk about. Savor the presence

  838. of Jesus.
