  1. little we're going to talk this morning

  2. as we continue our Christmas series and

  3. today really the topic as we jump in

  4. this morning is more than a gift if you

  5. couldn't tell thinking about gifts. Now

  6. this morning I was I was looking and

  7. thinking and my wife she apparently I

  8. knew this already by the way bae but is

  9. creative because she does all of our

  10. wrapping and she's almost done which I

  11. think is a a record maybe. So that's

  12. pretty great. We're pretty excited. But

  13. I found that she has three different

  14. kinds of uh paper at least. And each one

  15. has their own bows with their own kind

  16. of little tags on them, like formal,

  17. informal, uh all these things. I didn't

  18. bring it. The box was too big, but one

  19. had a Snoopy on it. I like it. Little

  20. tag. And Christmas gifts are something I

  21. think everyone enjoys receiving. I'm

  22. just gonna Anybody not want a gift? Like

  23. you just don't want a gift this

  24. Christmas? Okay, good. Nobody is in the

  25. house that says, "I don't want a gift."

  26. Everybody would like a gift. And gifts

  27. can come in all different shapes and

  28. sizes and packages and kinds, right? All

  29. of the things that we see uh are are

  30. special. Maybe some of them more special

  31. than others. Now, I'm going to tell on

  32. myself, there was one year um that we

  33. were doing minimal Christmas for like

  34. each other. And so, my wife, she got

  35. something. She had thought long and hard

  36. about it. She had planned and she had

  37. prepared. And so she got me some things

  38. that I had been talking about, which

  39. were like some nice beard care stuff and

  40. some stuff. And I'm going to be honest,

  41. I was super disappointed. I don't know

  42. what I thought she was going to do with

  43. a super small amount of money, but she

  44. was like, "Oh, I thought I was trying to

  45. be sweet." And I I ruined that whole

  46. entire thing. We kind of joke about it

  47. periodically. Uh I'm difficult to buy

  48. gifts for apparently. The problem is I

  49. Everything I want costs a lot of money.

  50. I think that's my problem. It's like

  51. small gifts. What What do I want that

  52. costs like 40 bucks? Nothing. I don't

  53. think I want anything literally. But if

  54. 400 bucks, 4,000 bucks, I I could find a

  55. whole bunch of things. It's a problem.

  56. It is an issue. Um, we don't do that.

  57. But that's easy stuff to me. Like I

  58. could get a whole list. And the gifts

  59. that we give, sometimes we think of the

  60. sweet nature of them. Sometimes we think

  61. of of the kindness of them. Sometimes we

  62. receive them with joy. And maybe

  63. sometimes we blow it royally and are

  64. disappointed. and even the gifts that

  65. people try to give us that are kind and

  66. that come with thought and with caring.

  67. And this morning we're going to read

  68. about the ultimate gift about Jesus.

  69. We're going to be in Matthew 1:es 18- 25

  70. this morning and see the story of of the

  71. angel coming to Joseph and this

  72. situation. So we're going to read here

  73. in Matthew 1:18. It goes, "Now the birth

    Matthew 1:18

  74. of Jesus Christ took place in this way.

  75. When his mother Mary had been betrothed

  76. to Joseph before they came together, she

  77. was found to be with child from the Holy

  78. Spirit." And her husband Joseph being a

  79. just man and unwilling to put her to

  80. shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

  81. But as he considered these things,

  82. behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to

  83. him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of

  84. David, do not fear to take Mary as your

  85. wife, for that which is conceived in her

  86. is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a

  87. son, and you shall call his name Jesus,

  88. for he will save his people from their

  89. sins." All this took place to fulfill

  90. what the Lord had spoken by the prophet.

  91. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and

  92. bear a son, and thou shalt call his name

  93. Emmanuel, which means God with us. When

  94. Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the

  95. angel of the Lord commanded him, he took

  96. his wife, but he knew her not until she

  97. had given birth to a son, and he had

  98. called his name Jesus. Now, I don't know

  99. about you, but just I try to read the

  100. Bible and I try to put myself into the

  101. situation and just imagine what it would

  102. have been like. What would it have been

  103. like to be Joseph in this situation? You

  104. find out that you're the one you're

  105. betrothed to. And I think this is

  106. important real fast just to to hit on

  107. for a moment. This betroth was almost

  108. like you were married. You didn't

  109. necessarily you didn't live together.

  110. You didn't have relations in a married

  111. sort of way, but you were given to that

  112. person. And even as it said, it called

  113. him the husband, right? They were not

  114. married like we were think and they

  115. didn't move in together. They hadn't

  116. gotten in the house together, but they

  117. were promised to one another. And Joseph

  118. doing the right thing of divorcing her

  119. was instead of even to the point of

  120. putting her to death could have been an

  121. option because of the seriousness that

  122. it would have been

  123. to be found outside of the marriage

  124. ceremony.

  125. going and and doing those things with

  126. other people. And all of a sudden, the

  127. angel comes and says, "Joseph,

  128. that's not what you think it is, Joseph.

  129. It's okay. You can still take Mary.

  130. Joseph, what is in Mary comes from the

  131. Holy Spirit?"

  132. What a amazing moment. I think I'll use

  133. the word a crazy moment. If you just put

  134. yourself in that position, can you

  135. imagine being there? Can you imagine

  136. like, whoa, this angel just showed up to

  137. me. What I thought was amazing, my

  138. future uh wife, Mary, we're going to

  139. live our lives together. Now all of a

  140. sudden, I don't think we are. And then

  141. the angel shows up and wow, this is from

  142. God. This is way bigger, I guarantee,

  143. than anything Joseph had ever thought

  144. could possibly happen in his life.

  145. In fact, in their history and throughout

  146. history, there's maybe no greater honor,

  147. I don't know, than Mary giving birth to

  148. the Savior. Joseph fathering the Savior

  149. on earth.

  150. But everything changed.

  151. Everything looked different. This gift

  152. that was conceived by the spirit wasn't

  153. something that you could just, well, I'm

  154. just going to be disappointed because I

  155. didn't want that or I didn't want this.

  156. Or maybe you uh are have a little more

  157. sleep right before that and that's not

  158. it. You're like, "Woo, thank you for

  159. whatever it is, right? Any gift." We

  160. tell our kids if you are not thankful

  161. for the gifts that you get,

  162. >> then you don't need to get any gifts and

  163. we'll take them all back. Anybody else

  164. ever been in that moment like we put so

  165. much effort and okay but is it possible

  166. that there are moments in our life when

  167. we don't think about the gifts and the

  168. things and the opportunities that come

  169. before us and it's actually from God but

  170. we don't understand it yet. We didn't

  171. realize all of the blessing that has

  172. come that sometimes seems like a super

  173. big problem. There's no way that Joseph

  174. and thought anything else besides my

  175. life is kind of ruined. This perfect

  176. situation I believe for is gone.

  177. Joseph's plans though changed when God

  178. spoke. When the angel came, everything

  179. began to look different because what he

  180. thought he was going to do, putting Mary

  181. away and divorcing her quietly, turned

  182. into an entire different thing. And he

  183. chose the route of obedience. He chose

  184. the route of saying, 'Lord, I'm going to

  185. do what you have. Right? Obedience must

  186. follow revelation. And when Joseph was

  187. told what had taken place, then Joseph's

  188. plans looked entirely different.

  189. As we think about Christmas, we think

  190. about Jesus coming. We think about this

  191. story and the story that is our life.

  192. When revelation comes to us, we cannot

  193. stay the same as we once were. But we

  194. must let change come. We must change who

  195. we are. We must change how we act. We

  196. must change how we live. It's not just,

  197. well, this is how I grew up or this is

  198. what my culture said or this is what I

  199. feel. No, no longer. When revelation

  200. comes, just like Joseph, it's time to

  201. say yes. I'll do what you would have for

  202. me to do. The word Jesus became flesh.

  203. He's spoken life. He's given us truth.

  204. And this angel showed up in Joseph's

  205. life. And you know, when I think about

  206. Dublin, Ohio, and I think about where we

  207. live, maybe you live in a community

  208. around Dublin, around Columbus, but I

  209. think reputation is a pretty big deal

  210. here. Most people really care what

  211. people think and really care what they

  212. have and their status. They they really

  213. care about these things. And something

  214. else I find to be amazing is a lot of

  215. you really care about privacy. Like

  216. really really care about privacy.

  217. Sometimes we find out that things happen

  218. in your life or situations or you've

  219. been in the hospital and it's like why

  220. didn't you say anything? Oh, I didn't

  221. want anybody to know. But we believe in

  222. the power of prayer. And if we believe

  223. in prayer, we have to be praying, right,

  224. Don? Doesn't that make sense? We

  225. believe. So, we need to get our people

  226. around us, which means sometimes we need

  227. to be a little less private and let some

  228. people in our lives.

  229. >> And when we think about this story and

  230. you think about Joseph and you put it in

  231. yourself, I think there's often times

  232. when maybe we have heard what God has,

  233. where we know what we should do, where

  234. we really know, maybe we need people in

  235. our corner helping us along the journey.

  236. But we don't want that because we don't

  237. want people to know there's any problem

  238. or any sickness or any issue in our

  239. life.

  240. It's easier if no one knows. Then I

  241. don't have to worry about it. I still

  242. look like everything's good inside of

  243. the four walls of my house.

  244. And I think we see from the word of God,

  245. even from this story, that when Jesus,

  246. the angel, when the power of God shows

  247. up, everything that was our plan or was

  248. our intention or was what we thought the

  249. future was going to be, all of a sudden

  250. we should be willing to lay that down to

  251. give that to the Lord and let him be the

  252. God of our life.

  253. Just going to throw this out there. It's

  254. possible that God's plan for some of you

  255. is to be millionaires and to lead

  256. companies and to do just amazing things

  257. in that front. But can I say in the

  258. other side, it's possible that for some

  259. that's not the plan or the call that God

  260. has for you. He has you in a specific

  261. place or a specific area for a specific

  262. reason. And I want to say today that if

  263. you're following the Lord, if you're

  264. walking in his way, you're walking in

  265. his his path, it's possible the next

  266. rung up or the next promotion at some

  267. other job you could take isn't what God

  268. has.

  269. It's possible, right? I'm just throwing

  270. it out there. Don't get too quiet. What

  271. does the Lord have for you? What does

  272. the Lord speak? And are we obedient to

  273. the voice of the Lord?

  274. Now, maybe maybe you're like me and

  275. you're like, "Well, if the angel of the

  276. Lord would just show up, that'd be a

  277. whole lot easier, right, Pastor Dave?"

  278. Like, "Oh, yes, you need to do this,

  279. Pastor Dave." Well, that would be maybe

  280. a little bit easier.

  281. But we have the greatest thing. We have

  282. the word of God that speaks life. We

  283. have the word we can study. We can show

  284. ourselves approved. We have the spirit

  285. of God that leads us and guides us. And

  286. maybe or maybe not. In certain

  287. situations, you might hear his voice.

  288. And other times, you may just know

  289. inside because the spirit leads you. And

  290. we must be willing to say, God, if it's

  291. an angel, if you show up in visitation

  292. or if it's a still small voice that I

  293. just know, Lord, this is the choice.

  294. This is what you have for me. Lord, help

  295. us to be. Help me to be. Please be

  296. obedient to the voice of the Lord and to

  297. his call.

  298. If the origin is divine, then the aim

  299. must be decisive. If you know that God

  300. has spoken, when you hear God speak

  301. through whatever means he would use,

  302. it's time to be decisive to not to say,

  303. "Oh, it's fine." No, it's not fine. If

  304. God would call you, if God would show

  305. you, if God would reveal to you, we must

  306. be decisive to take action. Just like

  307. Joseph that what he thought he was going

  308. to do, which was actually being a noble,

  309. good guy in their culture, he said, "No,

  310. I'm going to do what the angel has

  311. spoken. I'm going to do what the Lord

  312. has spoken. My life's going to look

  313. different than what I thought it was cuz

  314. God showed up." And that's what should

  315. happen in our lives.

  316. The gift was conceived by the spirit.

  317. And as we go on this morning, the next

  318. thought is that the gift came with a

  319. purpose. In verse 21, I I love this

  320. verse. This is what it is all about. She

  321. will bear a son, and you shall call his

  322. name Jesus, for he shall save his people

  323. from their sins.

  324. Not only is there a gift, but there's a

  325. purpose to the gift. Now, I go back to

  326. the gift that I mentioned just a few

  327. minutes ago, and Rachel had heard me

  328. whine and complain about my beard being

  329. itchy, had heard me whine and complain

  330. about all the things that go with like

  331. grooming and this stuff. So, what does

  332. she do? She buys me something to take

  333. care of the problem that I've been

  334. complaining about. Anybody does that

  335. sound like it makes sense. Like, that

  336. sounds like it makes a lot of sense. Uh,

  337. anybody else in the room when God comes

  338. and speaks truth that would heal and

  339. restore and make new and fix the

  340. problems, been kind of like me that day

  341. and all of a sudden it's like, I don't

  342. want that. I I I mean, this would be

  343. cool. I like this, but I don't want

  344. what's actually going to help me in my

  345. life. Hello.

  346. >> And when Jesus came, he didn't just

  347. come. He didn't just come and woo, I'm

  348. here. But he came to save his people

  349. from their sins. But you know what

  350. saving means? It means pulling it out,

  351. turning the other direction, looking the

  352. other way, which means what is sin in my

  353. life? Jesus came to cover it, to give

  354. grace, but also to help me go the other

  355. direction and no longer walk in that

  356. sin.

  357. Jesus came to this earth so you do not

  358. have to live in sin anymore. You don't

  359. have to live in those old ways anymore.

  360. You don't have to let that be who you

  361. are, but instead you can walk in

  362. freedom. Cuz my favorite definition I've

  363. ever heard of sin is sin is something

  364. that hurts you or hurt somebody else.

  365. Sin is not to punish you. It's not to

  366. make life boring or whatever things we

  367. can come up with. It's the exact

  368. opposite that when we walk free of sin

  369. in our life, church, we're not

  370. backbiting. We're not lying. We're not

  371. stealing. We're not taking other

  372. people's things. People aren't taking

  373. ours if they're not sinning, right?

  374. We're we're doing the things encouraging

  375. one another. We're not gossiping. We're

  376. not doing things that hurt those around

  377. us. Sin is something that we need

  378. removed from our lives so we can walk in

  379. true freedom.

  380. What does sin also often times do? It

  381. binds us. If it's alcohol or if it's

  382. nicotine or whatever thing you want to

  383. say, things that hold us and they bind

  384. us and we we must have these items or

  385. else our life is no good. We need that

  386. next thing,

  387. right? Sin

  388. sin hurts, it wounds, it destroys. And

  389. Jesus, he didn't only come not only

  390. given by the spirit, but he came with a

  391. purpose. For he will save his people

  392. from their sins.

  393. Titus 2:1-14 says, "For the grace of God

    Titus 2:1–14

  394. has appeared, bringing salvation for all

  395. people, training us to renounce

  396. ungodliness and worldly passions, and to

  397. live self-controlled, upright, and godly

  398. lives in the present age, waiting for

  399. our blessed hope, the appearing of the

  400. glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus

  401. Christ, who gave himself for us to

  402. redeem us from all lawlessness.

  403. and to purify for himself a people for

  404. his own possession who are zealous for

  405. good works. Church, Christmas is not

  406. just about a gift. It's not just about

  407. we're given, but it's about a God in

  408. heaven who sent Jesus to our sin away to

  409. help us walk in his power and in his

  410. authority to help us be who he's called

  411. us to be, which means we're going to be

  412. the best version of ourselves on this

  413. earth. And that doesn't even mention one

  414. day when we get to live with Jesus in

  415. eternity forever and we get to

  416. experience his power forever. Where

  417. there's no more tears, no more death,

  418. where sin has been washed away. Church,

  419. that's what Christmas is all about.

  420. Jesus came and he came with a purpose.

  421. He came with a purpose.

  422. When we think about our lives, going

  423. back, bringing it right here, right to

  424. our own home, what is the purpose of

  425. your life? What has God called you to

  426. do? We've all been given a great

  427. commission to go and make disciples of

  428. all nations. We've all been given the

  429. commission to live on on uh doing the

  430. will of God and walking in his way. And

  431. I want to encourage you today that if

  432. you want life to be boring and you want

  433. to get lost and you want to get

  434. confused, then live life to try to have

  435. more stuff and to have nicer things. And

  436. the definition I think that comes to me

  437. is things that will break and then cause

  438. you frustration. The best things you buy

  439. at some point will break and then cause

  440. you frustration. If that's what you are

  441. looking for, then the good, the awesome,

  442. the blessings will turn into the

  443. opposite.

  444. Is that what we're looking for? Or is

  445. God and has God given you're living for

  446. him that you're walking

  447. in the company you're a part of that

  448. you're leading people towards Jesus?

  449. You're pushing people towards the

  450. presence of God. And it may not include

  451. in this moment getting your Bible and

  452. standing up on your chair in your

  453. cubicle or in your office and and

  454. preaching the gospel. That might not be

  455. what you can do. You won't have a job

  456. anymore possibly.

  457. So do that only if Jesus speaks clearly

  458. to you and the angel shows up then do

  459. what he says. Right. Absolutely. But

  460. every one of us is called to talk about

  461. Jesus to share Jesus to talk about the

  462. one that matters more than anything else

  463. to us. You have a purpose and Jesus came

  464. to take our sin. And now we get to be a

  465. part of seeing the world around us

  466. realize who he is.

  467. And it might take days, maybe weeks,

  468. months, maybe years for some in our

  469. lives, maybe even decades that we have

  470. to be consistent and we have to be

  471. faithful and we have to be people of

  472. prayer and we have to use every

  473. opportunity to talk about Jesus. And we

  474. do it in the way, not in a pushy way

  475. that's going to push him away, but

  476. instead Jesus lead us, guide us, the

  477. words that he would have us until they

  478. come to a point where they finally

  479. understand the goodness and the grace of

  480. God. What am I saying? What happens if

  481. your work or your job or your family,

  482. all the things that you do instead of

  483. just being about you and what you get is

  484. instead about you and what you can give

  485. to the people that are in those

  486. locations. How you can change people's

  487. lives because you are called by the one

  488. who redeemed and saved and set us free.

  489. The one that came with a purpose. He

  490. came with a purpose. So you can also

  491. live with a purpose.

  492. Salvation's purpose leads to salvation's

  493. promise of Jesus. Let's live for him.

  494. Let's follow him and let people be able

  495. to follow us to Jesus.

  496. The gift was conceived by the spirit.

  497. The gift came with a purpose. And third

  498. and finally today, the gift brings God's

  499. presence. Verse 22 and 23 and 24 say,

  500. "All this took place to fulfill what the

  501. Lord had spoken by the prophet. Behold,

  502. the virgin shall conceive and bear a

  503. son, and they shall call his name

  504. Emmanuel." What? What's that? Emmanuel,

  505. which means God with us.

  506. He came to save us. He came to free us,

  507. to take our sins away. He t came with a

  508. purpose. But church, I'm so thankful

  509. that it's not only about even just

  510. saving us. It's not only about just

  511. getting us out of the junk of the world

  512. and life, but the God of the universe

  513. wants to be with you.

  514. >> Wants to live with you. He's Emmanuel.

  515. He's God with us. The gift brings God's

  516. presence. Jesus brings his presence.

  517. John 1:14 says, "And the word became

    John 1:14

  518. flesh and dwelt among us. And we have

  519. seen his glory. The word became flesh.

  520. Then he gave us his word to us. We get

  521. to live with him. We get to experience

  522. him. It's why the word of God is so

  523. precious and powerful. It's why there's

  524. no word of his of the word of God that

  525. we would get rid of, but we hold it

  526. tight to us because the word became

  527. flesh. He dwells with us. And not only

  528. his Bible, but his spirit that you and I

  529. get to walk in the presence of Jesus.

  530. It's why I love anytime when a group of

  531. people gather together to worship and to

  532. praise and to lift up the name of Jesus

  533. because there's nothing like being in

  534. the presence of God because that's one

  535. of the maiden reasons why he came to

  536. save us to but to be with us

  537. church the greatest gift the one who

  538. sacrificed it all he did it for you and

  539. I just want to throw this out

  540. forgiveness is precious, right? It's

  541. it's great. I'm so thankful for it. But

  542. presence is the point and his presence

  543. is the best.

  544. And today, if you walk in the the things

  545. of God, and maybe you're like, I'm I'm

  546. trying to figure this out. I'm trying to

  547. figure out what this spiritual walk is

  548. and this religion or all these things.

  549. Jesus came.

  550. He's given you a gift of salvation. All

  551. you have to do is take it. and that he

  552. wants to walk with you in Christmas

  553. season, but also in the middle of the

  554. summer, in every other moment. He wants

  555. to walk with you when things are great

  556. and it's all going well. And he wants to

  557. walk with you when you're just hiding

  558. yourself away because life's just not

  559. going as you want it to go. He wants to

  560. be with you. He wants to be with you

  561. when you're doing it right and you're

  562. staying on the straight and narrow, the

  563. word of God that And you know what? He

  564. also wants to be with you when you've

  565. messed up and you need him once again to

  566. come and pick you up cuz you did it

  567. again. That thing got you again. That

  568. temper, that whatever it was, he loves

  569. you. He knows when he died for you. He

  570. already knew the things you would do. He

  571. already knew the situations that you'd

  572. put yourself in because we're all good

  573. at that.

  574. But Jesus loved us anyways. He came as

  575. the perfect gift. He came with purpose

  576. and he came so that he could give us

  577. God's presence. He wants to be with us

  578. today in the power of God. His presence

  579. is here. His presence is here. And if

  580. you're here and you're like, I don't

  581. know. I don't I don't know. I'm not sure

  582. if I feel his presence. All you have to

  583. do is open your heart to him and let him

  584. speak. All you have to do is open your

  585. heart to him and let him show you

  586. himself. All you have to do is open your

  587. heart to the word, the word of God.

  588. You dive in. You begin to study. You

  589. begin to to look. You begin to read. You

  590. begin to say, "Lord, what do you want to

  591. speak to me?" Let his presence

  592. overshadow all the things of life.

  593. Can I even say even the good things of

  594. Christmas, it's just stuff. If Jesus is

  595. not at the center, so focus on Jesus.

  596. Focus on who he is. Focus on the power

  597. of God. Focus on his grace that he's

  598. poured out upon you. Focus on the fact

  599. that he loves the people that you

  600. struggle with sometimes

  601. because there's people that struggle

  602. with you.

  603. But he loves you. He loves them. He's

  604. the God that loves the people that he

  605. created and you're one of them. And when

  606. we think of Christmas, it's not only

  607. gifts. It's not only the things that we

  608. could be given.

  609. It's not only how nice things look or

  610. how well things are put together. Maybe

  611. even how thoughtful they are. Maybe you

  612. have someone in your life that is so

  613. thoughtful and they always figure it

  614. out. Awesome. But maybe maybe that's not

  615. their gifting. That's okay. It's not

  616. about the gift. It's about presence

  617. starting with being with Jesus.

  618. And then it's not about the gift, but

  619. it's about being together. Get it. Get

  620. together with those people you care for,

  621. the people you love. And the gifts are

  622. just a byproduct. They're just a

  623. blessing. There's something on top. But

  624. be together. The presence of one

  625. another.

  626. It's why I say often when we together as

  627. the church family, there's nothing

  628. better. There's nothing better because

  629. be to be in each other's presence with

  630. Jesus among us is the greatest thing,

  631. the greatest gift.

  632. I invite you to focus your heart on the

  633. thing of Jesus. What does he have for

  634. you? A couple of challenges this morning

  635. is maybe God is revealing something to

  636. you. Maybe God is showing you something

  637. that you know maybe it's been for a long

  638. time and you're walking in some of that

  639. sin, some of that stuff that it it's

  640. it's not right and you know it's not

  641. right. Then I want to encourage you

  642. before the Lord just to lay that down.

  643. You might be a follower of God. You

  644. might walk with Jesus. You might love

  645. his word and still struggle in areas.

  646. And I encourage you, don't just let it

  647. be, I just can't do anything about it.

  648. No. Come to Jesus. Let him forgive you.

  649. Let him make you new. And you might have

  650. to step out of that bubble. You might

  651. have to step out of that privacy thing

  652. and go ask somebody, "Hey, I need some

  653. help." You might need a brother or

  654. sister to come alongside of you. Maybe

  655. you need to get counseling. Whatever the

  656. things are, great. But it all is focused

  657. through Jesus. Let him heal and restore

  658. and make new. So maybe you need to come

  659. to him. Maybe you have something in your

  660. body, we prayed earlier that you need

  661. him to heal. You need him to restore.

  662. You need him to touch. I want you to

  663. know that in the same moment when

  664. there's people that are working, there's

  665. there's problems and there's issues,

  666. we're seeing Jesus move in great power

  667. and great authority.

  668. Trust the Lord. Give yourself to the

  669. Lord. And you know, I think one of the

  670. greatest things when we think about our

  671. bodies

  672. is we can give it to him. We can trust

  673. him. Because if you're walking with

  674. Jesus, the day you're absent from the

  675. body, you're present with the Lord,

  676. which means, hey Lord, I trust you in

  677. all things. I give you myself. I don't

  678. have to be anxious or worry because God,

  679. if I'm not here, I'm with you, right?

  680. Which means I'm free. Which means I can

  681. trust him. Which means I can give him

  682. all. Which means I can believe for

  683. healing. And I know if it doesn't happen

  684. here, I'm going to be healed. Healed

  685. when I get to heaven and they'll never

  686. be anymore. Which means, Lord, I trust

  687. you. Every part of my life, the sin of

  688. my I give it to you. The health of my

  689. life, I give it to you. And I think that

  690. leads to the most important thing that

  691. we can do, which is if you're here and

  692. you say, "I've never made Jesus the Lord

  693. of my life. I've never given him myself.

  694. I I'm not walking in relationship. The

  695. the word who became flesh, I don't

  696. follow him. I don't follow his word. I

  697. don't let the word speak to me over my

  698. own understanding. And if you say, "Hey,

  699. I've never made Jesus the Lord of my

  700. life." The greatest thing we can

  701. possibly do, the reason we're here out

  702. on the front is one more for Jesus. And

  703. if you'd say, "I've never made Jesus

  704. Lord of my life." That's what Christmas

  705. is all about. That's why Jesus came and

  706. he's here for you today.

  707. So, I just want to offer a moment. And

  708. in fact, if we can just turn this into a

  709. place of prayer,

  710. maybe bow your head, close your eyes,

  711. whatever you want to do to focus on

  712. Jesus right now.

  713. We'll get to the first things I

  714. mentioned in a minute. But first, if

  715. you've never made Jesus Lord of your

  716. life, and you know today through the

  717. word of God that you want Jesus to be

  718. Lord, you want him to walk with you, you

  719. want his presence with you, you might

  720. need that salvation, you you need you

  721. need him to to get rid of sin, but you

  722. want his presence. If you say, "I want

  723. Jesus for the first time." Or, "I need

  724. to rededicate my life to the Lord. I

  725. just want to invite you all over this

  726. room." If that's you, just to raise your

  727. hand high. I want to be able to pray

  728. with you. I want to see you and be able

  729. to We're going to pray together as a

  730. church family. Is there anybody you'd

  731. say, "That's me today. I need salvation.

  732. I need the power of God. I don't want to

  733. miss anybody. This is the most important

  734. thing we can possibly do. Jesus, he's

  735. the savior. Jesus, he's the God of the

  736. universe. Jesus.

  737. If you're at home today, if that's you,

  738. all you have to do is ask him, "Lord,

  739. forgive me of my sins. Make me new. I

  740. make you Lord of my life. I repent." Put

  741. in your own words. And he welcomes you

  742. into the family. If you're able this

  743. morning, if you can stand to your feet,

  744. if you would join me, I would just love

  745. to pray for you. and maybe a sin area in

  746. your life, maybe something in your

  747. physical body, maybe a relationship,

  748. maybe a problem in any sort of way. He

  749. is here. The gift Jesus came. He brought

  750. his presence, his purpose. Maybe you

  751. need him to re align your purpose. And

  752. even as we're heading into this new year

  753. to not focus on yourself or what's going

  754. on around you, but to focus on the

  755. people that you're called to minister

  756. to, whatever it is, let's just open our

  757. hearts to him. So Lord, right now we

  758. thank you. We praise you, God, that you

  759. are the gift, Lord. You are the only

  760. gift, Lord, that truly matters when it

  761. comes down. And we're thankful that you

  762. did not stay in heaven, but you came to

  763. earth, Lord, not of man's plans, but

  764. Lord, the plans of God, conceived by the

  765. spirit, Lord. You came with a purpose to

  766. forgive us. And so Lord, I pray that

  767. you'd help your church, Lord, today,

  768. this week, Lord, that that you'd help us

  769. to commit. And if there's sin in our

  770. lives, Lord, help us to remove it. If

  771. there's sin that's binding us, if

  772. there's addiction, if there's things

  773. even that we've had for many years,

  774. Lord, break those things in the name of

  775. Jesus,

  776. Lord. And we're thankful, Lord, that

  777. you're with us and you guide us and you

  778. direct us. Bring healing and wholeness

  779. to those areas, Lord. We pray, Lord, for

  780. your presence to be around us, Lord,

  781. that we wouldn't be able to go through

  782. Christmas season, Lord, and miss you,

  783. miss the whole point. So Lord, at every

  784. gathering, at every event, at everything

  785. that's left, as we maybe have a few days

  786. off and different schedule, Lord, let us

  787. focus on you and on your presence and on

  788. your word. Lord Jesus, we thank you for

  789. who you are. Lord, we need you. And

  790. Lord, I do pray that you would heal. You

  791. would restore. You would set free. You'd

  792. give direction. You'd give each person

  793. purpose. Lord, if they don't know why,

  794. if they don't understand, Lord, let them

  795. walk in you and realize, Lord, what you

  796. have for them, Lord. And maybe the one

  797. thing we all know is we're called to

  798. make disciples. So Lord, everywhere we

  799. go, let us lift up your name. Let us

  800. talk about you. Just like when we get

  801. that gift we love, we talk about it.

  802. Lord, we've got the greatest gift. And

  803. let us talk about you everywhere we go.

  804. Lord, we love you. We thank you and we

  805. praise you. Lord, let us see the gift

  806. toward you. Then Lord, I pray that even

  807. as we go and as we give gifts to people,

  808. as we encourage people, as we're maybe

  809. with family or friends, Lord, I pray

  810. that every gift, physical gift that's

  811. given, Lord, would come with love and

  812. people, even those things would turn

  813. those around us to you, to your

  814. goodness. Lord, we love you. Bless your

  815. people. Bless your church. I pray for

  816. great testimonies of joy and of peace

  817. and of happiness, but also of

  818. opportunities to share you and who you

  819. are with friends and family this

  820. Christmas season. Thank you, Jesus. One

  821. more time, Lord. We're thankful for you

  822. coming.

  823. You're so good. Bless your people. Let

  824. us walk in you, Jesus. We thank you and

  825. praise you. In your name we pray. Amen.

  826. And amen. Well, come on, church. Our God

  827. is good. He is so good. We Come on.

  828. Absolutely. But we want to invite you

  829. one more time. Wednesday night, 5:00,

  830. come on out. Join us. And I want to

  831. encourage you. Bring somebody with you.

  832. I'm going to give you a little heads up.

  833. We are believing that we're going to

  834. have a packed house. We're even going to

  835. move the curtains out a little bit.

  836. We're going to have some extra seats

  837. open. That means let's fill them up.

  838. Let's fill them up. Bring some people.

  839. Uh Christmas is one of those times when

  840. people are willing to say yes. So come

  841. let God uh use you as we go.
