  1. Well, this morning I am excited because

  2. we're going to be jumping into a new

  3. kind of sermon series kicking off the

  4. new year. And I just believe so strongly

  5. the Lord has a few different words and

  6. different things that are coming that I

  7. believe are going to be encouraging to

  8. you and to us as we think about being

  9. the family of God. We're together. We're

  10. united. We're going hopefully in the

  11. same direction. And we want to start

  12. 2026 off with that focus and that

  13. commitment to the things of God, to who

  14. he is, and then to what he has for us.

  15. And so I want to give one more

  16. announcement. On the 18th, we're going

  17. to do something a little different than

  18. we've done in the past. And we're going

  19. to have our vision meeting. You could

  20. think our business meeting. It's an

  21. exciting, it's a vision day. It's all

  22. about what God is doing as we move

  23. forward. And I want to invite you to be

  24. sure you are here for that day. What's

  25. going to be different is this year we're

  26. going to make that one of our one

  27. services. We're going to have service at

  28. 10:00 so that everyone can come to

  29. church and then everyone who would would

  30. you stay and be a part of our vision

  31. meeting lunch. We're going to have you

  32. can bring sides to be a part of that.

  33. We'll bring the main dish. We'll supply

  34. that. Uh it's just going to be a fun

  35. day. But we're going to talk about some

  36. things that are happening, some changes,

  37. some updates as we look to 2026. And I

  38. believe it will be an important uh

  39. meeting, an important time. Some of

  40. those things you'll hear in services and

  41. some of that, but there's going to be

  42. things that we want you to be a part of.

  43. And the 18th, would you stay with us?

  44. So, come to church at 10:00 on the 18th

  45. and then stay uh and we're going to have

  46. a great lunch together and just talk

  47. about all that God is doing. And I

  48. cannot wait. I'm looking forward to it.

  49. Believing for a mighty uh move of God

  50. even in that vision meeting. And so once

  51. again on the 18th going to be a part of

  52. our our

  53. January series really focusing on the

  54. fact anything is possible. I want to be

  55. sure you hear that anything is possible.

  56. Now as we look into this morning and you

  57. can even turn in your Bibles today.

  58. We're going to be in the book of

  59. Nehemiah. But what is a thing maybe or

  60. when is a moment that life has thrown

  61. you a curveball? Uh, I would guess most

  62. of us in the room have been alive for a

  63. few minutes at least. So, we've all had

  64. a curveball of some sort, right? There's

  65. been things, there's been moments,

  66. there's been days, weeks, maybe even

  67. things that have seemed a lot longer

  68. than that that you would say, "This is

  69. not what I was hoping for." In fact,

  70. could I I just want to see a a hand from

  71. if you've been in a spot where you're

  72. like, "Man, that did not go how I

  73. thought sometime in your life." Would

  74. you raise your hand up for me? I want to

  75. be sure you're alive. Because if that's

  76. all of us, I'm pretty sure. And if not,

  77. come on. You need to come talk to me.

  78. Give your wisdom. Right? When we think

  79. about this thought of something, a

  80. moment, something that took place, maybe

  81. you would be here today and you say,

  82. "Man, I went I thought my job was going

  83. great and all of a sudden I didn't have

  84. a job anymore. There was a layoff. There

  85. was a company change, right? A bunch in

  86. the room." You say, "Yeah, I've been

  87. there before." Maybe you're even walking

  88. through that right now. Maybe you

  89. thought everything was fine and you went

  90. to the doctor for a checkup and all of a

  91. sudden found out, "Oh no, I'm not fine."

  92. Maybe somebody around you that you love

  93. that they're walking through a problem

  94. or they have walked through a problem.

  95. When we look at Nehemiah, we're going to

  96. see he is in that sort of place. The

  97. people around him are in that sort of

  98. place. And I can look back a few years

  99. and there was a moment when we were I I

  100. would even say the most exciting time of

  101. my life. I was so pumped. I was so

  102. looking forward to all that God had and

  103. what was coming, trying to be obedient,

  104. trying to take a step forward as he

  105. would lead. And did you know that even

  106. sometimes when we think we're doing

  107. everything right, we're trying our

  108. hardest, sometimes it still it's like

  109. you hit a brick wall and it doesn't go

  110. like you expected it to go. And all of a

  111. sudden the dreams or the visions or the

  112. plans you feel like I'm not sure what's

  113. happening. I'm not sure what's going to

  114. be next. I don't know how to get out of

  115. this problem or out of this situation.

  116. I can say a few years ago I was in a

  117. place where that's exactly how I felt.

  118. It's like Lord I have been trying to do

  119. what you've called been praying and

  120. believing been fasting been asking Lord

  121. do a work trying to follow your guidance

  122. but it just didn't quite go how I

  123. thought it would go.

  124. When we look at the story of Nehemiah,

  125. and we're going to read it and over the

  126. next several weeks, jump throughout the

  127. book of Nehemiah,

  128. I think we will see something starting

  129. today that is vital for your personal

  130. life in whatever situation you have. but

  131. also as a church, if we are going to be

  132. together, if we're going to be united,

  133. if we're going to see Dublin, one for

  134. Jesus, if we're going to see the world,

  135. one for Jesus, and we're going to do our

  136. part, I believe we see in Nehemiah

  137. several things that are going to just

  138. jump out at us. Say, Lord, what do I

  139. need to do? What do I do when life's not

  140. going how I thought it should go? And to

  141. be honest, what and what do I need to do

  142. when it is going how I thought it should

  143. go? These things are principles and

  144. truths and real life things that if we

  145. do and we're a part of then you can make

  146. it through literally anything. You can

  147. get from the difficulty to the other

  148. side. You can get from the place of Lord

  149. I don't even understand to the place of

  150. Lord I don't necessarily understand but

  151. Lord thank you for moving. Thank you for

  152. speaking. Thank you for showing yourself

  153. in our lives in our situations.

  154. And if we're going to see as a church

  155. family all that God wants in 2026, if

  156. we're going to reach that one more for

  157. Jesus over and over, if we're going to

  158. see changed lives and develop leaders,

  159. if we're going to share the love of

  160. Jesus, we must start where Nehemiah

  161. started. We have to put first things

  162. first. And so, as we jump in this

  163. morning, we're going to start in

  164. Nehemiah chapter 1, verse one, and read

    Nehemiah 1 chapter mention

  165. through verse 4. And it says the words

  166. of Nehemiah the son of Huckleai. Now it

  167. happened in the month of Chisv in the

  168. 20th year as I was in Souza the citadel

  169. that Haniah one of my brothers came with

  170. certain men from Judah and I asked them

  171. concerning the Jews who escaped who had

  172. survived the exile and concerning

  173. Jerusalem. Okay, real fast. Uh none of

  174. the things that just happened there or

  175. the the the truths that's not what you

  176. want. Exile and did they survive? Did

  177. they even make it through it? They were

  178. taken captive. All of this is not good.

  179. In fact, it would be about as bad as it

  180. could possibly be. In verse three, and

  181. it says, "And they said to me, the

  182. remnant there in the province who had

  183. survived the exile is in great trouble

  184. and shame." Okay, well, it it got worse.

  185. Even though what I just said, it got

  186. worse because they're not only there,

  187. they didn't only maybe some of them

  188. survived, but they're in trouble.

  189. They're in shame. The great wall of

  190. Jerusalem is broken down and its gates

  191. are destroyed

  192. by fire. Verse four says, "As soon as I

  193. heard these words, I sat down and wept

  194. and mourned for days. I and I continued

  195. fasting and praying before the God of

  196. heaven." And when you look at this, you

  197. see the situation. They are in a world

  198. of hurt. There's nothing good. They've

  199. been exiled. They've been taken away.

  200. The walls of the city are torn down. And

  201. in their day, walls of the city are a

  202. big deal. In fact, it would be

  203. humiliating to have a city, but the

  204. walls are gone. In other words, it'd be

  205. easy to capture, easy to take uh

  206. whatever they want an enemy from that

  207. place.

  208. When Jerusalem's walls are torn down and

  209. when Nehemiah hears about the situation,

  210. he didn't rush into action. I think this

  211. is an important thing that we must

  212. understand. He didn't say, "Woo, I've

  213. got the answer and I'm going to go do

  214. it. I'm just going to rush." Is that

  215. what it said in verse four? I don't

  216. think that's what we see.

  217. He instead sat down and wept. He instead

  218. felt the situation. And I want us to

  219. hear today that we so often we need to

  220. feel it before we can fix it. We need to

  221. feel what God is doing. We need to feel

  222. what God is saying. Sometimes we need to

  223. feel the situation. We need to

  224. understand what's going on. And not just

  225. in a sadness sort of way. Not just I'm

  226. sad or I'm depressed. I I don't think

  227. that's the helpful thing. But sometimes

  228. we need to sit and understand the heart

  229. of God. And in fact for Nehemiah here, I

  230. think it was a holy grief. It was a

  231. grief saying God's people, they're not

  232. in the situation that they should be in.

  233. In the ancient world, the city without

  234. walls, it was defenseless. It was it was

  235. nothing. It was a a

  236. mocking. Uh people would mock and make

  237. it make it just fun of the situation. It

  238. was vulnerable to attack.

  239. Maybe even more. It was stripped of its

  240. identity. It was like don't have

  241. anything left.

  242. For God's people, Jerusalem wasn't just

  243. a city. It was the center of worship.

  244. The place where God's name dwelt.

  245. Its ruin here symbolized spiritual

  246. decline and covenant failure. It is as

  247. bad as it gets for the people of God.

  248. They're in a place where they need to be

  249. fixed and things need to be revived and

  250. made new.

  251. Here we see Nehemiah's brokenness.

  252. As he sat down,

  253. as he wept, as he mourned, as he fasted,

  254. as he prayed to the God of heaven, Lord,

  255. do something in this situation.

  256. I think something happens in our lives

  257. and we see it throughout the word here,

  258. but also when Moses wept for Israel in

  259. Exodus 32, when David cried out for

  260. restoration in Psalm 51, when Jesus wept

  261. over Jerusalem

  262. in Luke 19, we see that the people of

  263. God, even Jesus himself, put themselves

  264. in a place of holy grief. Holy Lord, I

  265. need you. Holy Lord, I'm going to lay

  266. everything down before you. I'm not

  267. going to just try to do it myself with

  268. my own understanding or my own way. It

  269. is painful. It hurts. And sometimes we

  270. need to feel it before we can fix it.

  271. And in our day and age, I think it's so

  272. easy for us to be people who we say,

  273. "No, I'm just going to mask it. I'm just

  274. going to hide it. I'm just going to not

  275. let anybody know. I'm just going to keep

  276. it to myself. I'm not going to actually

  277. sit in the moment that the Lord might

  278. have brought me to." or may it might it

  279. be the Lord has allowed me to be brought

  280. to

  281. instead of sitting in that moment and

  282. feeling what God would have for us in

  283. his heart. We want to get up and do

  284. something. We want to grab the hammer.

  285. We want to grab the shovel. We want to

  286. grab the the sword in their day. We want

  287. to do something. But Nehemiah shows us

  288. that sometimes the starting point needs

  289. to be one of coming and of mourning and

  290. of weeping, of coming and saying,"Lord,

  291. I'm going to feel what you feel. I'm

  292. going to feel your heart. I'm going to

  293. experience you and what you want to do."

  294. Brokenness, church, it's not weakness.

  295. Brokenness and coming before the Lord

  296. and sometimes what feels like our spirit

  297. being crushed, it's not weakness. It it

  298. it can be strength to come before God

  299. and to let him speak and to move. In

  300. fact, brokenness is where change so

  301. often comes. It's where revival flows

  302. from. Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is

    Psalms 34:18

  303. near to the brokenhearted and saves the

  304. crushed in spirit." Sometimes, church,

  305. we need to be honest with ourselves.

  306. Lord, this area, this thing, this this

  307. problem in my life, Lord, I am crushed.

  308. Lord, I need you. Lord, I need the power

  309. of God to show up.

  310. Lord, I need what only you can bring.

  311. And there's this fight between, Lord,

  312. I'm going to sit in your presence and

  313. what culture would say. Move on. Don't

  314. dwell on the problem. Don't don't let

  315. anything even matter. Just move forward

  316. in the things of life and there'll be

  317. something else before you.

  318. Maybe this is a little different, but I

  319. feel like there's people in the room

  320. that in your own life and maybe even in

  321. our own sin, in our own problems, in our

  322. own pain, things we didn't have anything

  323. to do with, that we need to feel the

  324. weight

  325. and that the weight is what will move us

  326. to action. In fact, I feel like there's

  327. some of us who may be struggling in an

  328. area. We've we've been in the spot and

  329. we don't know how to get out of it. And

  330. we need to sit and let the weight of

  331. God, let his spirit sit on us and be

  332. with us. Lord, we need to get into a

  333. place of spiritual mourning.

  334. And we've tried to overcome. We've tried

  335. to move through. We've tried to get to

  336. the other side. But maybe what we miss

  337. is the fact that God wants to sit with

  338. us. He wants us to feel what he feels.

  339. He wants us to experience what he

  340. experiences. And out of that brokenness,

  341. then we can find the strength. Out of

  342. that situation and feeling what God and

  343. where we are and his presence in our

  344. life, then we can overcome. It's not one

  345. more self-help book. It's not I can do

  346. it if I just try harder. It's not in my

  347. power. Instead, it's Lord, I'm broken.

  348. And Lord, it's you and it's your power

  349. and it's your wisdom. It's your word.

  350. It's who you are. And Lord, I need to

  351. feel what you feel. I need to experience

  352. what you experience

  353. so that I can see freedom and wholeness

  354. in my life.

  355. A burden precedes a breakthrough.

  356. As individuals, you need a burden for

  357. what you want to see happen.

  358. Think of the things in your life that

  359. have gone the best that have happened.

  360. What you you cared so much. You wanted

  361. it so much. Maybe you're sitting someone

  362. next to someone today. Why are you

  363. married to them today? Why? Because you

  364. said, "I want this. I want that lady or

  365. that guy. I'm believing for this." And

  366. you fought for it and you went for it

  367. and you did sweet things and all the

  368. stuff. Now, some of us, maybe you don't

  369. do those sweet things as much as you did

  370. before. So, you should ratchet that back

  371. up, right? You you fought for it. There

  372. was a burden. And in our life, we need

  373. the Lord to put a burden on us. And you

  374. know, as a church family, if we want to

  375. see all that God has for Radiant Life

  376. Church to happen, we must be a church

  377. that says, "I have a burden for the

  378. things of God. I have a burden for what

  379. God is doing, not only in his kingdom

  380. globally, not only through his word, but

  381. right here as the Rad fam, that we have

  382. to get a burden to say, Lord, we want to

  383. see expansion. We want to see growth."

  384. Why? Not so we can say we're we're

  385. bigger than we were last year, but

  386. because there's people who need the love

  387. of Jesus, that need the the power of

  388. Jesus that need they're sitting in a

  389. burden place, but they don't know who to

  390. turn to. And we, you

  391. get to be the ones that go and bring the

  392. lost to Jesus.

  393. But do we feel the burden of what Jesus

  394. cares for?

  395. We must sit in the presence of Jesus and

  396. let the burden come upon us. We have to

  397. ask God to give us a heart for Dublin,

  398. for your community, for your neighbors,

  399. for your school, for whatever you are

  400. dealing with, you and I. We must sit

  401. with Jesus and ask him, Lord, give us a

  402. burden.

  403. Vision starts when we let God break our

  404. hearts for what's broken.

  405. We must be a people that feel it

  406. before we can fix it.

  407. My prayer as we jump into this year is

  408. Lord, don't let me just try and don't

  409. let me just strive and don't let me just

  410. do. But Lord, I want to feel your heart

  411. so that the things that we do, the

  412. things that we're part of, they're not

  413. just things, but Lord, everything we do

  414. as a church family is so one more person

  415. can come can feel the love of God, can

  416. experience his power.

  417. church. I just have to I have to say

  418. this is to me the greatest thing that a

  419. a person uh could possibly say. And on

  420. Christmas Eve, we were here and I got to

  421. talk to a young man and uh he was so

  422. excited just to be at church. And he

  423. explained to me that he hadn't been

  424. church in a long time. He had come the

  425. previous Sunday and the only reason he

  426. came back is because when he came he's

  427. like, "You guys are such a family. Like

  428. you just love each other." People came

  429. up to him over and over and over and

  430. talked to him. People said hello. people

  431. said, "Hey, I I I see what you and I I I

  432. feel what you're feeling." Maybe not in

  433. those words, but that's what he felt.

  434. And he said it was so cool. Like he was

  435. telling me this.

  436. He's like, "And I just love being here.

  437. And now I've come again and it's the

  438. same." Like you can't walk 5 feet

  439. without someone saying hi and someone

  440. asking a question. Church, when we feel

  441. it,

  442. that's who we have to be.

  443. We have to be people that no one can get

  444. in the doors without almost being

  445. bombarded by people. Why? Just because

  446. we love people. It's not like we have

  447. to. It's not because we have a lanyard

  448. that says we're going to do it. No, we

  449. just care and we see someone. Church, do

  450. we feel it? That guy, he just confirmed

  451. in my heart. Church, do we love people

  452. so much that not only at church but

  453. wherever we go, we're looking for

  454. people. We didn't know that guy hadn't

  455. been in church. He said in as long as he

  456. could remember but he just felt

  457. something and so he came back

  458. feel it before we fix it. Second thing

  459. today is we have to turn to God first

  460. in our life. When we feel those broken

  461. areas, when we feel those situations,

  462. when we have the problems and maybe even

  463. we sit with the Lord, the question is

  464. what do we do and where do we go and

  465. what are we looking at when we're asking

  466. God to show up or when we're just in

  467. life

  468. in our day and in the the culture that

  469. we live. It is so easy to go and ask and

  470. to find people because you can look in a

  471. phone book. I don't know if there's

  472. anymore, but you can go online and you

  473. can type it in there and you can say,

  474. "Hey, I need help with this. Give me

  475. somewhere near." And if you need your

  476. house fixed, easy. Someone Well, not

  477. easy, actually. If you've ever tried to

  478. get that, sometimes that can be very

  479. difficult. But you can find the person.

  480. If it's health, you can go to the

  481. doctor. And in fact, there's not only a

  482. doctor, but there's a doctor for every

  483. part of your body. So, literally

  484. everything. It might take time, but you

  485. can find them and you can get help and

  486. you can feel uh better about it and you

  487. can feel like you've done the things you

  488. need to do. If it's finances, there are

  489. plenty of people who can give you the

  490. wisdom of what to do and how to save or

  491. maybe how to get out of the debt you're

  492. in. Right? You can go to Dave Ramsey.

  493. He'll take care of all of your needs.

  494. Just cut up all the credit cards and

  495. everything's going to be great. Right?

  496. Whatever area of your life. But my

  497. question is, as the church of Jesus

  498. Christ, is our call to be good Google

  499. searchers to find people and places and

  500. stuff to help us or is it possible that

  501. we need to feel what Jesus feels? And

  502. then we need to run to the Savior and

  503. the creator of the universe and we need

  504. to begin to say, Lord, I there's all

  505. this other stuff, but Lord, I come to

  506. you and I need wisdom and I need

  507. guidance and I need your direction. And

  508. I mentioned house or finances or health,

  509. anything in your life. But what would

  510. happen? I'm just wondering what would

  511. happen if when we even have really

  512. practical situations that we start to be

  513. sure, Lord, what do you want to say? Am

  514. I supposed to just take my car to the

  515. shop and spend $1,000? Or do you want to

  516. do something different? Anybody else?

  517. Something different sounds good to me.

  518. Like really good. And I'm not saying

  519. that every time he'll do something in

  520. the that way. But what happens when we

  521. begin to live our life that even the

  522. things that seem like I just got to take

  523. it. I just got to do it. I just got to

  524. get the doctor. I've just got to find

  525. the person. I've got to find the

  526. counselor. I've got to find the We start

  527. saying, "Lord Jesus, I want you to speak

  528. into my life above anything else. Lord

  529. Jesus, I need your voice to be clear to

  530. to to speak into what my tr what the

  531. truth is, what your truth is for me.

  532. Lord, in my parenting, I don't

  533. necessarily need a new book, but Lord, I

  534. do need a new heart. And Lord, give me

  535. love and give me patience and kindness,

  536. even for the ones I love the most. Lord,

  537. would you help me? And we begin to turn

  538. to Jesus with all the things of life.

  539. In verse five here, it says, "And I

  540. said, oh Lord, God of heaven, the great

  541. and awesome God who keeps covenant and

  542. steadfast

  543. love."

  544. I just have to say real fast. I love it.

  545. I think some of us need to get that as

  546. our heart and understanding when we come

  547. to pray. When we come to seek Jesus,

  548. it's not Lord, here's 57 things that I

  549. need, but Lord, we just come before you.

  550. And I say, oh Lord, God of heaven, the

  551. great and awesome God who keeps covenant

  552. and steadfast love with those who love

  553. him and keep his commandments, church,

  554. that's the truth of the word of God.

  555. That's who he is. He keeps his covenant.

  556. Let your ear be attentive and your eyes

  557. open to hear the prayer of your servant.

  558. Then I now pray before you day and night

  559. for the people of Israel, your servants

  560. confessing the sins of the people of

  561. Israel, which we have sinned against

  562. you. Even I and my father's house have

  563. sinned. We have acted very corruptly

  564. against you and have not kept the

  565. commandments, the statutes, and the

  566. rules that you commanded your servant

  567. Moses.

  568. When we read Nehemiah's heart, we see

  569. the love for the Lord, the the desire

  570. that he has for God and also the

  571. realization to say, 'Lord, I've not been

  572. perfect. I don't know and we haven't

  573. done it all right. Lord, I need you to

  574. guide me and I need you to direct me and

  575. Lord, as I sit with you, you've real

  576. you've confirmed as I'm in your word,

  577. you've shown me,

  578. Lord, I need your salvation. I need your

  579. truth. I need your grace. I need your

  580. mercy. And Lord, even in that I can ask

  581. you to come. I can ask you to move

  582. and things that don't even seem

  583. possible. Lord, I want to turn to you

  584. first.

  585. He adores the Lord. He begins by

  586. acknowledging God's greatness and

  587. covenant faithfulness. He turns to

  588. confession. He identifies who the sins

  589. of the people or what the sins are and

  590. his personal sins.

  591. He owned the brokenness.

  592. It's not somebody else did it or

  593. somebody else's problem or someone else

  594. made me do it. No, he owned it. We have

  595. done this and even me and my family have

  596. messed up and we've gone against your

  597. covenant,

  598. your truth.

  599. Church, when we sit with the Lord, he

  600. will reveal the way that we need to go.

  601. He will reveal our heart. And I pray not

  602. in a judgy sort of way. I don't I want

  603. God's judgment now on right now, not in

  604. the future. So Lord, would you show me

  605. and would you reveal to me my heart?

  606. Would you reveal to me what is not right

  607. as a a people, as Radiant Life or as the

  608. church of Jesus Christ? Anything where

  609. we're not focused on the word of God, we

  610. want to know so we can be all that God

  611. has called us to be.

  612. Church, we must turn to God first. We're

  613. going to see that he then calls it on

  614. the promises of God. He recalls the word

  615. of God, the truth of God. He asks

  616. boldly. And we're going to see in a few

  617. verses, he believes

  618. not that what has happened in the past

  619. has ruined and has made it so that he

  620. can never experience God in the future,

  621. but instead what the word would say,

  622. he's turned to God. He asked for

  623. forgiveness. He asked for mercy.

  624. He says, "Lord, in your hand, in your

  625. call, in your time, Lord, would you do

  626. something that is way beyond myself? And

  627. as we look at 2026, that's my prayer for

  628. us, church.

  629. Lord, we need you. Lord, we have to

  630. experience you. Lord, we need your

  631. heart.

  632. Now, I mentioned at the beginning of our

  633. time that a few years ago, I man, it was

  634. just a rough moment trying to do the

  635. things that God had didn't go how I

  636. wanted at all. Things like everything uh

  637. was falling apart. Uh if you remember a

  638. few years ago, COVID was an exciting

  639. time. That was super fun to be a leader.

  640. Uh some of you made it really difficult

  641. right it was tough why because no matter

  642. who you are we all have opinions had

  643. opinions right I mean that's normal and

  644. when everybody has opinions but then

  645. there were other things and trying to

  646. start new churches and start trying to

  647. to further the kingdom I I had been in

  648. the hospital uh there was a just it was

  649. terrible was in the hospital for eight

  650. days and I believe it was one of the

  651. days. My dad, he would come and he would

  652. sit with me about an hour. He wasn't

  653. supposed to stay too long. Uh but after

  654. about an hour every day, I would tell

  655. him, "Dad, you've you've done your time.

  656. You can go." And he'd be like, "Okay."

  657. And he would get up and leave the he was

  658. like

  659. because I couldn't really talk. I was

  660. really sick. So he would just like talk

  661. for an hour. If you know my dad, he's

  662. not that's not his like thing. Now he

  663. could talk preaching, but just to sit

  664. and talk like that's not his favorite

  665. moment. a little more introverted than

  666. that, but he he did it. It was amazing.

  667. He always would do whatever was needed.

  668. But I remember him saying, it might have

  669. been after I was out of the hospital,

  670. said, "It's like a BB in a trash can at

  671. church that like the people in the room.

  672. It was like nobody, lots of seats, all

  673. of the things." And I was so just

  674. crushed starting a church, all of this,

  675. then COVID, all of these things happen

  676. at the same time.

  677. And I remember actually standing in the

  678. office, the gray house as you exit on

  679. the right. If you don't know, that's our

  680. church office. I was talking to staff

  681. members and I was like, "Hey,

  682. had talked to the board and we were

  683. going to take a few weeks and just get

  684. alone and pray." And I was like, "If I

  685. come back from that trip like I feel

  686. now, well then I have to find

  687. counseling, I've got to do something

  688. because this is not how you should

  689. live." And I'm super optimistic and

  690. like, "Woo, let's do this this in life."

  691. And it wasn't that way. COVID. It was

  692. just bizarre. And I remember going for

  693. three weeks. We went to a church

  694. planning conference to start it off,

  695. which was not the most healthy thing in

  696. the middle of what felt like destruction

  697. all around. It was really difficult. And

  698. then we went out to Arizona, visited

  699. family, and it was just wonderful. It

  700. was in maybe early March, so it was the

  701. weather was beautiful. It was awesome.

  702. Got to pray and seek the Lord. Then went

  703. and got our family and took a week with

  704. them. And it was one of those moments of

  705. Lord, not what people would say, not

  706. what a counselor would say, good things,

  707. good people, but Lord, what do you want

  708. to speak? And I remember coming home

  709. from those three weeks, not with one

  710. single problem fixed, not with one thing

  711. that was like, woo, life's easy now.

  712. That wasn't it. In fact, it took like

  713. six months before the whole COVID like

  714. just down. It was the weirdest thing.

  715. I've never experienced anything like it.

  716. church. It's It's taken four years.

  717. We're almost back to where we were

  718. before all of that. Just weird weird

  719. stuff. But I got back. I had been with

  720. Jesus. I had spent time with him. I got

  721. back and didn't turn to stuff and

  722. others. I turned to Jesus. Got alone

  723. with Jesus. Spent time with my wife.

  724. Spent time saying, "Lord, would you

  725. refresh? Lord, would you make new? Lord,

  726. would you make right?" And it wasn't

  727. anything I did, but it was a little

  728. confession. It was a little a lot of

  729. adoration. Lord, you're good. Even in

  730. the midst of the problem,

  731. I've shared this before and I don't know

  732. why this was my response, but even in

  733. the hospital, my wife would send me a a

  734. song, a a worship song, and I was like,

  735. I can't listen to that stuff. And she

  736. she was like devastated. And I was like

  737. later once I could really communicate. I

  738. was I couldn't listen to it because I

  739. would listen to it and not being able to

  740. breathe, I would start crying because I

  741. just was so thankful to the Lord sitting

  742. in a hospital feeling like dying. That's

  743. what my they kept telling my wife. But

  744. adoration to the Lord, just Lord, I'm

  745. thankful. Whatever you choose to do, I'm

  746. I'm happy.

  747. Because when we sit with Jesus,

  748. when we sit with him and we turn to him

  749. first, we do not know what the future's

  750. going to be. We don't know the work

  751. between where we are and to where we

  752. want to be and where God is going to

  753. have us. We don't know what's going to

  754. happen in our body or in our situation.

  755. But when we turn to him and we give him

  756. adoration and we give him confession,

  757. when we just say, "Lord, we're sorry."

  758. Then anything is truly possible.

  759. Whatever you feel now doesn't have to be

  760. where you end.

  761. But are you trying yourself doing it

  762. your own way? Are you coming to the

  763. Lord? I got back from those three weeks

  764. and I was like, "Let's do it. We're

  765. going to figure out. I don't have any qu

  766. or any answer. I don't know what we're

  767. going to do, but we're going to keep

  768. being faithful. We're going to keep

  769. pushing forward. We're going to keep

  770. believing." didn't mean everything was

  771. easy, but Lord, you're on the throne.

  772. You've got this. You're going to take

  773. care of it. And he's given direction

  774. over the last four years, and I know

  775. it's not going to stop. But it came down

  776. to spending time with Jesus for Nehemiah

  777. in your life. I'm sure I could have, in

  778. fact, I could look out and pull some

  779. people up here that spending time with

  780. Jesus has brought health and wholeness

  781. to areas that it wasn't have brought you

  782. through addiction to the other side of

  783. it. have brought you through anxiety or

  784. depression to the point where now, hey,

  785. that's not where you live anymore

  786. because you've got open hands to the

  787. Lord in these leading and giving

  788. direction. You've walked through

  789. seasons.

  790. And if you're here today and you are

  791. walking one of those seasons right now,

  792. don't try to do it yourself. Even with

  793. all the fixes and the help that there

  794. can be, don't go to AI with for your

  795. answers. Go to Jesus.

  796. Ask him, "Lord, I need you. Lord, I need

  797. to feel what you feel.

  798. Lord, I need to really despise the

  799. things that you despise and love the

  800. people and the things that you love.

  801. Lord, I'm turning to you with everything

  802. I have, I give you all of my life. And

  803. we must, church, make prayer our first

  804. response. It can't be the last thing,

  805. but it must be the first thing. It can't

  806. be, well, if I have to or if everything

  807. else doesn't work. No, we need to come

  808. to Jesus first. We need to give him

  809. every part of who we are. Which is why

  810. when we think of starting a year with

  811. prayer and fasting, I pray that doesn't

  812. give anybody the thought that when we

  813. can be done praying and fasting, but it

  814. is just the start. It's a focus so we

  815. can continue to pray and to fast and to

  816. believe and to ask God to do what only

  817. he can do. To let us feel what he feels

  818. so we can bring freedom as we turn to

  819. him with every problem.

  820. When prayer is your first step, turning

  821. to Jesus, you will have alignment with

  822. heaven. And my prayer, what Jesus prayed

  823. on earth as it is in heaven, that's my

  824. prayer in my life and my mind and our

  825. church and our world. Lord, we just want

  826. heaven to invade earth. We want

  827. alignment with you and your kingdom.

  828. Janelle, if you want to come and play

  829. the piano, do we go to our last point

  830. today? clear the noise so you can hear

  831. his voice

  832. this morning. Maybe you are sitting here

  833. and you're like, "Man, I I like the

  834. thought. I like what you're saying. Yes,

  835. I I want to see forward progression. I

  836. don't want to stay where I've been." And

  837. maybe you feel like you've been locked

  838. in a spot or been in a place, but we

  839. have to clear the noise. In verse 8, as

  840. we continue,

  841. Nehemiah

  842. says,"Remember the word that you

  843. commanded your servant Moses, saying,

  844. "If you are unfaithful, I will scatter

  845. you among the peoples. But if you return

  846. to me and keep my commandments and do

  847. them, though your outcasts are in the

  848. uttermost parts of heaven, from there I

  849. will gather them and bring them to the

  850. place that I have chosen to make my name

  851. dwell there."

  852. They are your servants and your people

  853. whom you have redeemed by your great

  854. power and by your strong hand. Oh Lord,

  855. let your ear be attentive to the prayer

  856. of your servant and to the prayer of

  857. your servants who delight to fear your

  858. name and give success to your servant

  859. today and grant him mercy in the sight

  860. of this man.

  861. He was the cup bearer to the king.

  862. He was close to the one that could take

  863. care of some of these problems. But why

  864. would the king care at all about what

  865. Nehemiah or the people of Israel needed?

  866. He asked the Lord, "Lord, I need you."

  867. And he speaks to scripture to say,

  868. "Lord, you said we would be scattered,

  869. but you said we would be brought back if

  870. we ask for forgiveness. And Lord, we

  871. come before you and we ask you." And I

  872. don't know what you need today. I don't

  873. know what you're believing for today.

  874. I don't know if it's a sickness or a

  875. disease or maybe you've lost somebody

  876. and you just have a hole in your heart.

  877. I don't know. Maybe there's financial

  878. problems or maybe you just thought you'd

  879. be somewhere different and you don't

  880. feel what you thought you would feel.

  881. You don't aren't experiencing life like

  882. you thought you would experience life. I

  883. don't I don't know.

  884. Maybe your job is falling apart. Maybe

  885. your relationships are falling apart.

  886. Maybe life just

  887. stinks is what you feel. It's just as

  888. hard.

  889. I don't know. But what I do know is when

  890. we come before the Lord,

  891. when we help him or ask him to let us

  892. feel what he feels, when we turn to him,

  893. and then when we get rid of the clutter,

  894. we get rid of what the world would say,

  895. we get rid of what culture would say,

  896. and we go to the word of God. Lord, your

  897. word says, Lord, your word, which is

  898. truth, which is what we need, it says,

  899. Jesus, what you did on the cross, you

  900. healed us. You gave us salvation. You

  901. you allow us to be forgiven, healed, and

  902. whole. And Lord, we come to your word,

  903. which means wherever I am, if it's not

  904. in that, Lord, you're still moving. And

  905. we come and ask him, Lord, forgive me.

  906. Forgive us. Make us new. Make us full in

  907. you, Lord. Clear the voices. I don't

  908. want to hear anything else. I want to

  909. hear what you would have to say. And

  910. maybe you know there's a situation or a

  911. thing that you have to ask him, Lord,

  912. forgive me. Maybe you have to come and

  913. ask, "Lord, would you let your servant

  914. today?"

  915. What does it say? Grant him mercy in the

  916. sight of this man. Lord, give me wisdom

  917. in what I need to do. Give me w the

  918. words I need to say. Turn the heart of

  919. those around me. I I don't know what

  920. your thing is today,

  921. but church, if we follow what Nehemiah

  922. did, we're going to come and we're going

  923. to sit before the Lord. We're going to

  924. come and we're going to fast. We're

  925. going to come and we're going to speak

  926. the promises of God over your life and

  927. over your situation. We're going to

  928. spend time with him.

  929. We're not just going to do it our way,

  930. but we're going to lay it down before

  931. him as the early church did. They

  932. devoted themselves to the teaching

  933. and the things of God in Acts 2:42.

    Acts 2:42

  934. They got in the word. And today we must

  935. seek first the kingdom of God and his

  936. righteousness. And then all these things

  937. will be gathered to us. And whatever

  938. your need is today, church, we must come

  939. and let the Lord move and let the Lord

  940. speak.

  941. Fasting and prayer clear the noise. The

  942. word sets the direction and we put it

  943. all together. It positions us for action

  944. in your life, in your situation,

  945. whatever it is. Come, let the word of

  946. God bring you wholeness.

  947. Let him speak life to you. Let him make

  948. you new. And this morning maybe a little

  949. different. If you're here and you say

  950. something is just burning in your heart

  951. and you need God to bring healing or

  952. wholeness, you need him to bring

  953. salvation, you need to bring him to do

  954. something and you're like Nehemiah and

  955. you just need to feel him. You need to

  956. turn to him. You need the the noise

  957. cleared. It could be a small thing. It

  958. could be a big thing. It doesn't matter.

  959. But you say, "I need the salvation of

  960. the Lord. I need his voice." I'm going

  961. to ask you just to be bold and just to

  962. stand right where you are. We want to

  963. pray with you this morning. If you say,

  964. "That's me. I just need God to do

  965. something in my life. Heal you, restore

  966. you. Maybe a relationship thing, maybe a

  967. parenting problem. I don't know if

  968. there's somebody that you say, "That's

  969. me." We want to pray with you and

  970. believe.

  971. I'm going to give a minute.

  972. I believe that God wants to do some

  973. miraculous things in some people's

  974. lives. We're going to pray for our

  975. church.

  976. Yes. Thank you. Anybody else in the room

  977. today, you'd say, "I want to join these

  978. that there's just something I need God

  979. to defend me. I need God to to be there

  980. for me. I need him to restore me."

  981. Yes. But we're going to pray right now.

  982. Maybe that's you. Maybe you're at home

  983. today. Let the Lord move and speak in

  984. your life. Anything is possible. So

  985. Lord, right now for this family,

  986. Lord, for those that have stood up this

  987. morning and those that didn't, Lord, we

  988. ask you to come to be healer, to be

  989. restore. And Lord, we pray that we as a

  990. church family would feel your heart.

  991. that we as a church family, Lord, these

  992. individuals, Lord, would would fall so

  993. much in love with you, Lord Jesus, that

  994. maybe where distractions have been,

  995. Lord, that they would be gone in the

  996. name of Jesus, that they would

  997. experience you and experience your

  998. power, Lord Jesus, that you would be

  999. glorified,

1000. Lord. We ask you for healing and

1001. wholeness and direction. We ask you,

1002. Lord, to to get rid of the cloudiness of

1003. things, of what we understand, Lord, as

1004. we sit with you, as we turn to you.

1005. clear the noise so we can just simply

1006. let your goodness and your grace fall on

1007. each one. Lord, bless these today, Lord,

1008. as a church individually. Lord, every

1009. person in this room, I pray that they

1010. would feel your goodness, feel your

1011. love, feel your power, feel your grace,

1012. Lord Jesus, let us have a heart even

1013. more to pray, to spend time with you,

1014. Lord, not just to to pray for things,

1015. but to talk with you and to feel your

1016. heart. Lord, we love you today. Lord, if

1017. there's one here that they need to give

1018. their lives to you, Lord, I pray that

1019. right now, Lord, they would call out to

1020. you. Just some simple words. Lord,

1021. forgive me of my sins and make me new.

1022. Lord, I place you as the Lord of my

  1023. life. I repent.

1024. I believe that you are God, that you

1025. rose from the dead. Lord, in their own

1026. way, I pray they would reach out, call

1027. out to you right now. Lord, we thank

1028. you. Church, if we could just stand

1029. together all over this room. I want to

1030. pray for us as a church family

1031. and church. I believe so much that God

1032. has great plans. 2025 was such it was an

1033. exciting year for Pastor Rachel and

1034. myself for the team. God has put

1035. together a team and I am so thankful for

1036. it. In fact, spoiler tonight, if you

1037. have students, you do not want to miss

1038. uh youth group at six o'clock as we get

1039. to talk about who our next youth pastor

1040. is going to be, which we hate that guys

1041. cuz we love you. Uh hopefully you

1042. already know Pastor Matt and Katherine.

1043. They're going to be uh going to the

1044. mission field. And uh we still have four

1045. more months with them here. Then they're

1046. going to be itinerating. They're going

1047. to be gone for a year and a half or so,

1048. whatever that might be. They're going to

1049. be around. But we're going to begin that

1050. transition, which is scary, but also

1051. it's exciting. We believe the Lord has

1052. put the person that's going to be our

1053. next youth pastor, and I think our

1054. students are going to be super excited.

1055. And church family, uh, you can try to

1056. find that out or next Sunday, we'll

1057. announce all that good stuff to the

1058. adults. But we want kids to hear first.

1059. And we are pumped. Our team, we believe

1060. 2025 has been a year of vision of of

1061. alignment. We're continuing just to see

1062. incremental growth. But I believe that

1063. God has more for us as a church family,

1064. but it's going to take all of us being

1065. united and being aligned for the things

  1066. to come.

1067. Just being real, it's going to take, and

  1068. I won't take long because we're going to

1069. talk in future weeks, but it's going to

1070. take us all grabbing our tools and

1071. grabbing our spear. We'll look into that

1072. here in a little bit,

1073. but it's going to take all of us. And if

1074. we do, I believe that we are placed in

1075. the perfect position to see

1076. just extra growth to the kingdom of God.

1077. This last year, we had 32 people that

1078. were baptized in water, and my prayer is

1079. way more, double or more this next year.

1080. But how does that happen? It's not

1081. necessarily It's not because of how good

  1082. I I preach or don't preach. It's because

1083. you and all of us say, Lord, we're going

1084. to do what you've called us to do. It

1085. might require some Lord forgive and make

1086. new and give us direction. It also is

1087. going to be Lord give us boldness and

1088. direction together. And as we move as an

1089. army, church, we're going to see amazing

1090. things happen. And that's going to

1091. include your family members, your

1092. friends, your co-workers, in fact, some

  1093. people you don't even like. They're

1094. going to come to know Jesus

1095. because he's going to give you a heart

1096. like we've never had before. That's what

1097. it's about. Getting the word of God into

1098. us. But it's not going to be because we

1099. come to church and we go home. It's

1100. going to be because we come and we're

1101. united and we band together to say,

  1102. "Lord, I need you.

1103. Have to have you." And I want to

1104. encourage you. Would you this week,

1105. would you come maybe Tuesday morning 7 8

1106. Wednesday night is going to be a prayer

1107. night here. Uh we're going to have our

1108. our open house in the the room over

1109. there, but everybody else, we're going

1110. to be praying and believing and asking

1111. God. and would you come spend some time

1112. praying and believing? We're going to

1113. let God move. We're going to start it

1114. out and then we're going to believe

1115. together for all that he has for us. So,

1116. church, I'm going to just close in

1117. prayer for us. But I'm asking us, could

1118. we be a people that we say, "Lord, we're

1119. going to adore you. We're going to give

1120. confession. We're going to ask you for

1121. forgiveness. We're going to speak of

1122. your promises because we're in your

1123. word. And Lord, we're going to ask you

1124. for the things that are on your heart

1125. because we've sat with you. We're going

1126. to see something special in 2026.

  1127. Church,

1128. we are in this spot where our team, our

1129. family, our leadership, the leaders in

1130. this next service, we're going to see a

1131. bunch of kids up on the stage. Our kids

1132. are being discipled like never before.

1133. It's so much fun and there's great

1134. things to come and you get to be a part.

1135. I get to be a part. I'm so thankful we

1136. get to do it together.

1137. So Lord, this morning as we close this

1138. time, Lord, we're thankful it's just the

1139. beginning not only of 2026, but Lord, we

1140. believe even a new beginning of what

1141. you're going to do through Radiant Life

1142. Church. Lord, we are just in this

1143. season, Lord, that you've set it up.

  1144. You're preparing us, Lord, that we're

1145. moving in the same direction as a

1146. pastoral team, as a leadership team, as

1147. a group of people that would say, "We

1148. want to see the power of God show up."

1149. And so, Lord, turn our hearts to yours.

1150. Turn our hearts to the things that

1151. matter to you. Turn our hearts to that

1152. one more for Jesus. Lord, we're

1153. believing on the other side of the

1154. world, but we also we're asking right

1155. here in Dublin, Ohio through daycare.

1156. Lord, we pray for our soccer ministry

1157. that is going to be kicking off. Lord,

1158. we're so thankful for final approval.

1159. And Lord, we ask you, Jesus, Lord, that

1160. there would be hundreds of kids that

1161. will come to play soccer on our fields.

1162. And Lord, they won't only get some

1163. exercise. They won't only learn how to

1164. play soccer, but Lord, we ask you, Lord,

1165. that these kids would in the end and

1166. their families come and they would get

1167. connected to the God of the universe and

1168. soccer would just be a means to see them

1169. plugged in. Lord, our partner, Revive

1170. Church, Lord, as they continue to grow

1171. on the hilltop. Lord, we ask you, Lord,

1172. that they would only experience more and

1173. what they've been experiencing the last

1174. three years, a supernatural amazing

1175. growth. Lord, we pray it's only the

1176. beginning, Lord Jesus. Let them have to

1177. start wondering what are they going to

1178. do? Too many people. Lord, we ask you,

1179. Lord, that they would have to make tough

1180. decisions because there's so many people

1181. that are coming that are realizing who

1182. you are. are. Lord, we pray for our

1183. family members, for our friends, for our

1184. neighbors, for our co-workers. Lord, we

1185. ask you for the lost. Lord, we pray as

1186. we believe that anything is possible.

1187. And so, Lord, we ask you, would you do

1188. that anything through your church here?

1189. Would you do that anything through us?

1190. We are the church. Lord, let us be bold.

1191. Let us be witnesses. Let us move forward

1192. in you and the things of your kingdom.

1193. Lord, we are so thankful

1194. for what you've done. And Lord, we give

1195. you everything. And so, Lord, we focus

1196. on you. Lord, we love you. Lord, guide,

1197. direct, and be with us, Lord. You are so

1198. good. Let us go in your power and your

1199. love today, Lord. As one army, Lord,

  1200. yours, children of God,

1201. Lord, moving in you, we love you. Bless

1202. this church. Bless these people today.

1203. In your name we pray. Amen.

1204. Church, I'm so thankful that God doesn't

1205. leave us, but he walks with us. And

1206. let's go in the power of God. One more

1207. time, Tuesday morning prayer, 7:00 to

1208. 8:00. Love to have you come out. And

1209. then on Wednesday night during uh

  1210. church, 7:00 to 8:30, we're going to be

1211. praying together. Let's go after Jesus.

1212. Pray, fast at home, spend time with

1213. Jesus. Get in the word. Love you all so

1214. much this week. Be careful what you

1215. watch. Be careful what you listen to. Be

1216. careful what you talk about. Say
