  1. Awesome. Well, this morning we are in

  2. the middle of our Nehemiah sermon

  3. series. If you have your Bibles today,

  4. you can turn to Nehemiah chapter 2.

    Nehemiah 2 chapter mention

  5. We'll be in chapter 2 and chapter 4 this

  6. morning. But, you know, when I was

  7. thinking about this this morning and

  8. thinking about the sermon and what God

  9. has and these the scripture that I just

  10. felt that I was supposed to talk about

  11. this morning, I would begin to think

  12. about moments maybe in my life or in the

  13. life of this church. If you don't know,

  14. I've grown up in this church literally

  15. since I was born. Uh, Pastor Dave and

  16. Kay, they started the church in 1980. I

  17. was born in 1984, so therefore, I've

  18. been here my whole life, minus going to

  19. Springfield, Missouri for college uh,

  20. for a few years. But thinking of the big

  21. moments in my life, how it takes an army

  22. of people to accomplish something, uh,

  23. big really cool things. Now, when I grew

  24. up, like many of your students, we got

  25. the the opportunity uh to go to youth

  26. camp. And youth camp was always

  27. something was like, "Woo, this is so

  28. much fun. I love youth camp. It is

  29. amazing." Uh I actually saw one of our

  30. couples. I don't Are the doves in here?

  31. I know they're in the building. They

  32. might be uh on the safety team today,

  33. but they were walking around earlier

  34. that they met at youth camp, I think in

  35. middle school, and they This doesn't

  36. happen often. And I'm not encouraging

  37. this students, but they literally dated

  38. on and off all the way through and they

  39. got married and they're a family that's

  40. been a part of the church literally my

  41. whole life as well. They grew up uh

  42. Heather along with me. Just really cool.

  43. But when I was a student, I always

  44. thought camp's just amazing. Pastor Nate

  45. ran camp for a decade here in Ohio. And

  46. what? You just show up. It's easy. It's

  47. not that big a deal, right, Christa?

  48. Royal Family Kids Camp. You just show up

  49. like the kids come. It's not that big a

  50. deal. And then you jump in and you start

  51. to, let's say, lead camp. And you

  52. realize that camp doesn't just happen.

  53. Camp isn't just something that takes

  54. place, but it's something that literally

  55. possibly hundreds of people work on to

  56. see it happen from registration and

  57. planning and preparation. And did you

  58. know that the games and the services and

  59. the worship teams and the sound systems,

  60. the food, all the stuff, it doesn't just

  61. show up there, but someone made that

  62. happen. someone worked hard to see it

  63. take place. You think of the effort that

  64. is put in and when you go to something

  65. you're like, "Oh, this is easy. Come on.

  66. This is good. I just walk in and people

  67. are here and everyone's doing it." No,

  68. that's hundreds and hundreds and

  69. hundreds of hours of work to see it

  70. happen. Now, maybe you've been to a

  71. place where the work was not put in and

  72. you're like, "What in?" Right? maybe

  73. other places. But there could also be

  74. things if we want to think our country,

  75. how we were formed, what happened. A

  76. group of people got together believing

  77. in the same way to say this is where

  78. we're going to go. And they were

  79. literally willing to lay down their

  80. lives for the cause, right? When we are

  81. united, when we're together, when we're

  82. moving in the same direction as a

  83. people, just about anything is possible.

  84. Almost anything. I mean, all the way

  85. back to the Old Testament where the

  86. people began to build a tower to reach

  87. heaven and God's like, "Oh, no. This

  88. isn't good. They're too united." And

  89. spread the people out and gave us

  90. different languages. Why? Because when

  91. we're united, there is such a

  92. possibility of what can take place.

  93. And right on the other side of that

  94. possibility is then I mentioned camp. a

  95. group of however many 50 100 when we got

  96. there 75 to 100 people that are on the

  97. campground to help the four five almost

  98. 600 students who are being ministered to

  99. and I'm going to be real there were have

  100. been years at camp where everything is

  101. smooth and all the leaders get along and

  102. it is just fun. I'm like I am an awesome

  103. leader like awesome.

  104. And then the next year comes around and

  105. you're like why is everyone mad at each

  106. other? Like what is going on? I'm like,

  107. I'm a terrible leader. When when you're

  108. united, things are fun and things are

  109. happening. When you're not as a

  110. leadership, maybe it's just to help you

  111. pray, but Pastor Nate, you pray more

  112. like, Lord, what [laughter] is going on?

  113. Help us. I actually remember a uh year,

  114. it's been a long time ago now, but where

  115. we were at camp and God was moving and

  116. showing up, of course, but it just

  117. wasn't it was like everything had a

  118. resistance. And we literally had extra

  119. prayer times where the leadership got

  120. together and prayed and said, "Lord, we

  121. don't know what's happening, but we just

  122. know there's more. We know there's

  123. more." And I really believe it's because

  124. unity was a problem. And until the group

  125. could be together, we couldn't truly

  126. experience what God would have for us.

  127. When I think of Radiant Life Church,

  128. when I think of who we are, I think

  129. there's a few areas in our in our

  130. ministry, in our life, in our personal

  131. life, where we can either be fully in

  132. line with Jesus, or where we can miss

  133. what he's doing. And sometimes it's not

  134. only like, "Oh, I don't like this

  135. person, Don. I don't like you. You're

  136. sitting on that front row. You're

  137. looking serious." Like, sometimes we

  138. could have that problem. But, you know,

  139. even more than just being mad at

  140. somebody or being upset with someone,

  141. sometimes we're just not together. And

  142. we're all around. We're all here. We're

  143. not like mad at each other. We're here,

  144. but we also aren't moving in the same

  145. direction. We're not aligned to go the

  146. same place. We're not working with the

  147. same pace. We're not moving in the way

  148. that maybe God would have us all move

  149. together. We're just kind of all

  150. present.

  151. Maybe in fact you've been in places

  152. where you've like I felt that I would

  153. say problem before where yeah everyone's

  154. happy, everyone's present but are we all

  155. doing our part? Are we all moving in the

  156. same way?

  157. I can think of family gatherings and uh

  158. growing up and my dad, my mom, they'd be

  159. working super hard and we'd be getting

  160. right towards putting the food on the

  161. the table and uh what what seems to

  162. always be the thing? We got to get ice

  163. in the glasses. And there came a moment

  164. when my parents, one of them would be

  165. like, "COULD SOMEONE JUST COME AND PUT

  166. ICE in the glasses so we could be

  167. ready?" It was like the moment of we are

  168. so close. We've got everything ready.

  169. Everything's going to be great, but if

  170. we could just have one more set of hands

  171. put in effort here, we're going to get

  172. done at the same time. We're going to be

  173. ready. We're going to be prepared. I'm

  174. sure in your family gatherings, there's

  175. never been a moment of anybody, anybody

  176. going to help.

  177. But I think sometimes we can be present

  178. and we can be happy and we can be

  179. uplifting, but we might not all be

  180. rowing in the same direction, going for

  181. the same goals, believing for the same

  182. things, and therefore we're all just

  183. doing what we do. When you know when I

  184. think about church life and when I think

  185. about our relationship with Jesus, I

  186. think sometimes personally we can be

  187. there. I love Jesus, but I'm not

  188. necessarily following like a plan of

  189. Lord, I want to grow in you. Lord, I

  190. want to experience you. I'm not

  191. necessarily in the word in a daily base.

  192. I'm not necessarily letting him him

  193. transform me. But I love him with all of

  194. my heart. And as a church family, I

  195. think we can be in the same place

  196. sometimes. I love Radiant Life. I love

  197. coming. I love our kids. I love our

  198. youth ministries, but also I love just

  199. being able to come and go and not have

  200. to be too involved because that takes

  201. effort. So, you know, anything you

  202. really care about begins to be something

  203. you think about it, something you put

  204. time into. It's something you put your

  205. your heart into.

  206. And in Nehemiah and we we started in the

  207. process and looking last week in

  208. Nehemiah chapter 1 and the people who

    Nehemiah 1 chapter mention

  209. were were in this place and Nehemiah's

  210. prayer of Lord I got to do something.

  211. The walls of Jerusalem they've been torn

  212. down. We are a laughingstock. We've

  213. literally been exiled. We've been taken

  214. away. Say this cannot be the plan of God

  215. saying we must do something.

  216. And I think there's those moments when

  217. maybe even not to this extreme but

  218. something like it where we we get off

  219. track from what God has and it takes a

  220. person or a group or a a whole body that

  221. would say we are going to be sure that

  222. we do not let ourselves drift. We we

  223. want to be right in line in the way that

  224. God has for us as individuals. Lord, I

  225. don't want to be drifting in my walk

  226. with you. But Lord, I want to be right

  227. in line with you and with what you would

  228. have for me as a church family. I don't

  229. want to be a part of anything unless we

  230. are united and we're alignment. We're

  231. going in the same direction.

  232. We're not a bunch of ministries or a

  233. bunch of groups or a bunch of things,

  234. but we are one body that the Lord has

  235. called the Radfan.

  236. for what we said that where we believe

  237. the presence of Jesus is going to be

  238. felt and people are going to be loved

  239. because of the power of the gospel. And

  240. if we're going to see some things we're

  241. going to talk about next week and vision

  242. and and some tweaks and changes even

  243. just how we do a few little things,

  244. we're going to see these things take

  245. place and see us move forward in God. We

  246. have to be united. We have to be bound

  247. together.

  248. I think of our church staff in 2025 and

  249. we've been walking this journey of of

  250. really working how do we make goals and

  251. plans for each one of us for our

  252. ministries for our church as a whole

  253. that we're moving in alignment and then

  254. we're walking through my favorite

  255. dashboard. Uh it's called our rocks

  256. dashboard. It's got all of the projects

  257. that our pastoral team is working on

  258. that I can look at at any time and see

  259. what our team is doing. See what the

  260. processes are looking like. See if they

  261. feel red, yellow or green. like, ah,

  262. everything's falling apart. Yellow, I'm

  263. kind of in the middle. Green, woo,

  264. everything's going great. I can see the

  265. progression of us being aligned and

  266. moving forward together. Something's

  267. fun. Something's exciting when we get

  268. there. But if we're in a place like we

  269. see here in Nehemiah, it's hard. It's no

  270. fun. And I want to be sure as we start

  271. 2026

  272. as a church family, we are going in the

  273. same way. We're attached and a part of

  274. what God is doing here. And maybe for

  275. some it'll be like it hasn't been in a

  276. long time. Or maybe for some you're

  277. like, I've never jumped in in that way.

  278. Maybe for some you are brand new and

  279. you're like, wow, that this sounds good.

  280. Let's go. Let's storm the castle. Or

  281. maybe you just need more information,

  282. but I pray. And as we look today, I

  283. believe God has some truths for us as

  284. individuals, but also as a church body

  285. of what he wants to do of how and what

  286. we need to experience in him so we can

  287. all grow into all that God has for us to

  288. be our vision, what we are believing for

  289. is one more for Jesus. You know that one

  290. more for Jesus doesn't just happen

  291. because we want it to or because we have

  292. some words out on a a wall or because we

  293. speak about it. It happens because a

  294. body of believers say, "This is mine.

  295. This is my church. This is my call. This

  296. is what I'm going to do." And when we

  297. come together, then individually, we're

  298. strengthened. As a body, we're

  299. strengthened to say, "Lord, all the

  300. other things are secondary. My thing, my

  301. love, my no, it's all secondary to

  302. Jesus, you and what you've called us to

  303. to go and make disciples that one more

  304. would come to know Jesus."

  305. God's vision is never a solo project.

  306. It's a family mission. It's something we

  307. all get to do. We all get to be a part

  308. when we unite. Truly, anything is

  309. possible. And today, we're going to look

  310. at three truths that I believe can

  311. really help us as we navigate this

  312. journey. First is we have to own it

  313. before we build it. In Nehemiah 2:1 17,

    Nehemiah 2:1

  314. uh we see that they're in this place.

  315. They they Nehemiah has just been praying

  316. and asking the Lord to do something

  317. special. And in Nehemiah 21:17 it said,

  318. ' Then I said to them, you see the

  319. trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in

  320. ruins with its gates burned. Come, let

  321. us build the wall of Jerusalem that we

  322. may no longer suffer suffer derision. He

  323. was in this place. He was there and told

  324. the people, we see the suffering. We see

  325. the problems. We see what has happened.

  326. We see that the gates are burned down

  327. and now we must come together to build

  328. the wall. And I'm thankful when I think

  329. of this. I actually prayed, Lord, I I

  330. feel as a church, we're moving in a

  331. great direction. It's not like

  332. everything's in tatters and the walls

  333. are torn down and the gates are broken.

  334. And I felt the Lord speak clearly. Yes,

  335. I I agree. I think that's true. But

  336. we're also not in the place that he

  337. would have us to be for all that he

  338. wants to do. I believe we could say that

  339. in a in a clear way. We're like, 'Lord,

  340. we need you, Lord. Maybe there are areas

  341. and things where there's a problem,

  342. where there's disunityity or where the

  343. gates just aren't built up. We have to

  344. build those things up. We've got to come

  345. together as a church family.

  346. And when we do, when we build, something

  347. special is going to happen. But it takes

  348. owning what's coming before us. not a

  349. person, not a pastor or pastor

  350. leadership team or our pastor's board of

  351. ministry. Next week we'll ratify them at

  352. our vision meeting, right? It's not

  353. about a few groups of people. It's not

  354. about a ministry, but it's about us as

  355. the body of Christ coming together and

  356. saying we own the project, the plan, the

  357. call that God has given us. I own it in

  358. my own personal life and I own it as a

  359. church family.

  360. Nehemiah also, he didn't say, "You guys

  361. should do this. You guys should fix

  362. this." But he said, "Come, let's build

  363. the wall."

  364. I feel like in our culture and in our

  365. day and age, sometimes it's easy to see,

  366. oh man, there's something that needs

  367. done. Oh, something could be fixed.

  368. Something could look different. Even in

  369. our own lives, we don't like to look

  370. there. But instead, it's way easier to

  371. look at the other person. It's way

  372. easier to say, "Well, if they were doing

  373. it right, if they got it together, I I

  374. don't want to speak, but if you're

  375. married, there are times when you're

  376. like, "Well, if they would just fix

  377. this, it would be so much easier."

  378. I talk to people that are walking

  379. through problems. Normally, our starting

  380. point is not, "If only I could fix this

  381. area in my heart, everything could be so

  382. much better." But it's almost 100% of

  383. the time. If Don would just fix it, then

  384. we could have a better relationship. if

  385. Don could figure it out.

  386. And I want to say something today. It's

  387. not a you, but it's us. We have to come

  388. together. We have to go forward. We have

  389. to move into what God has so that

  390. everything can be built and put together

  391. in the way that he would have us to move

  392. forward. God's vision always requires

  393. ownership.

  394. Paul says the body grows when each part

  395. is working properly. In Ephesians 4:16,

    Ephesians 4:16

  396. vision dies when people spectate. Vision

  397. dies when we look at what could be.

  398. Vision dies when we say, "If only this

  399. would happen, then something good would

  400. take place." Rather than picking up the

  401. tools that we need to build and to

  402. become a part of what God is doing.

  403. Culture so says this that is someone

  404. else's job. Someone else will do it. But

  405. God says this is our calling. We can be

  406. united.

  407. And really as we start, you know, the

  408. thought 2026 is we cannot build what we

  409. do not own. We can't build if we are not

  410. united. We can't build if we're not

  411. moving together. We can't build if as a

  412. family we say, "Hey, our goals and our

  413. dreams and our beliefs are for this."

  414. And therefore, we as a church family are

  415. going to rise up. We're all going to be

  416. a part. We're all going to move forward.

  417. Vision moves from dream to reality when

  418. we all take responsibility.

  419. Don't just attend. I want to encourage

  420. you. Don't just attend, but own the

  421. vision. Own the call. This is your

  422. church. This is your body. We get to do

  423. this together. We are the body of

  424. Christ. Own it before you build it.

  425. Second, the wall won't rise without

  426. unity. In verse 18 of Nehemiah chapter

    Nehemiah 2 chapter mention

  427. 2, it continues and says, 'I told them

  428. of the hand of my God that had been upon

  429. me for good and also of the words that

  430. the king had spoken to me and they said,

  431. let us rise up and build. So they

  432. strengthen their hands for the good

  433. work. There was something about the

  434. people not only saying, Nehemiah, he's

  435. great. He's leading us. Nehemiah is

  436. walking this journey. But the people

  437. said we will rise. We will build. We

  438. will prepare.

  439. As we continue on, we see they actually

  440. do the work of building. They actually

  441. do the work of rising, of of picking up

  442. the tools and putting in the hard work.

  443. Now, I just want to say, I was thinking

  444. about this, to build the walls of

  445. Jerusalem in their day and age. I mean,

  446. today would be tough, but they don't

  447. have the equipment that we have. They

  448. don't have the things we have. It was a

  449. decision that we're going to lay

  450. everything else down and we are going to

  451. build what God is calling us to build.

  452. We're going to rebuild the walls of

  453. Jerusalem. We're going to put them

  454. together. It was in fact, I think, a a

  455. declaration of identity and strength. We

  456. together are going to do what God has

  457. called us to do. We together are going

  458. to move forward. Every stone put in the

  459. place that it needs to be.

  460. I think they really were speaking these

  461. walls. We belong to God and we will not

  462. be defeated. We belong to God and his

  463. blessing and his peace in our life. We

  464. belong belong to God and what he wants.

  465. He desires one more for Jesus. I just

  466. want you to know more than we desire one

  467. more for Jesus. And we cannot be

  468. defeated when we align with him and his

  469. call.

  470. The early church in Acts chapter 2 and

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  471. beyond, they didn't just gathered, but

  472. they shared life. They shared

  473. opportunities. They shared ministry.

  474. They shared their literal food. They did

  475. whatever it took to see the gospel push

  476. forward. And what happened? The gospel

  477. spread like wildfire.

  478. And from one community, from one place,

  479. the gospel now is almost all around the

  480. world. There's a few places we got to

  481. finish off, right? We're believing for

  482. those. But the gospel is all around the

  483. world because of people who said, "We're

  484. together and we're willing to give

  485. everything for the sake of the gospel.

  486. Unity reflects the nature of God

  487. himself, God the Father, God the Son,

  488. and God the Holy Spirit, three in one.

  489. It's something about being united in him

  490. that unlocks so much more, so much more

  491. than we could do or experience on our

  492. own.

  493. Jesus prayed in John 17 that he would be

  494. one as he and the father are one, that

  495. we would be. And there's something about

  496. that. He prayed, "Let us be united. Let

  497. us be together. And I would ask the

  498. Radiant Life Church that we wouldn't

  499. only stop in the growth we've seen in

  500. 2025, but that we would be a people who

  501. say, "Lord, we're just starting. Lord,

  502. our unity, our togetherness, our

  503. serving, our heart for the lost here and

  504. around the world. It's just the

  505. beginning because we believe there's

  506. more. There's more that you are doing."

  507. Culture would tell you, "Do your own

  508. thing. Go your own way. In fact, live

  509. however you want to live. just be happy

  510. in it. That's not what the word of God

  511. would say. He would say, "Do this

  512. together. Do it under his banner. Follow

  513. him. Walk in him." And for some of us in

  514. the room,

  515. isolation might feel easier. It might

  516. feel like if I can just be alone, it's

  517. going to be all right. And I might have

  518. problems, but I'll be fine. I'll get it

  519. done. I'll figure it out.

  520. But when we're together or when we're

  521. alone, it kills impact. What we can

  522. accomplish, what you can do, and who we

  523. can be. Unity might sometimes feel

  524. harder, but multiplication

  525. momentum happens when we as the church

  526. family move forward together.

  527. When we work together, walls rise

  528. like in Nehemiah. Vision move forward.

  529. One more for Jesus happens over and over

  530. and over again. I believe when we move

  531. forward, we get to see things like

  532. Pastor Matt Sullivan and Katherine

  533. passing that on to Pastor Matt Clark to

  534. say, "Lord, we're just going to keep

  535. rolling with what God is doing because

  536. the vision is real and it's all of us

  537. and we get to move into who he has us to

  538. be." And I want to encourage us as a

  539. church family in a time where I don't

  540. know of any big riffs or I don't know of

  541. any big problems. Thank the Lord. But

  542. could we be a people that we speak life,

  543. not criticism,

  544. that we lift one another up, we

  545. encourage those, even those who are

  546. struggling, we help them along the

  547. process. We don't kick them while

  548. they're down, but we help people walk

  549. and navigate the disciplehip process in

  550. their life. Could we be a united group

  551. that speaks life and not criticism?

  552. Because when the rad fam moves together,

  553. anything is possible. Just like in

  554. Nehemiah, anything is possible

  555. this morning. We have to own it before

  556. we build it. The wall won't rise without

  557. unity. And third, this morning, serving

  558. or work, it builds what talking never

  559. will.

  560. When we jump to Nehemiah 4:4, it says,

    Nehemiah 4:4

  561. "Here, oh God, for we are despised. turn

  562. back their taunt on their own heads and

  563. give them up to be plundered and a land

  564. where they are captives. Do not cover

  565. their guilt and let not their sin be

  566. blotted out from your sight, for they

  567. have provoked you to anger in the

  568. presence of the builders. Verse six then

  569. says, "So we built the wall and the wall

  570. was joined together to have a tight for

  571. the people had a mind to work." And when

  572. I think between what we read in chapter

  573. 2 and what we just read in chapter 4, it

  574. goes through a list of groups of people

  575. who were united as one but took

  576. responsibility in their own way. The

  577. high priest rose up with his brothers

  578. and they built the sheep gate. The some

  579. other sons built the fish gate. Some

  580. other people repaired the gate of

  581. Yashana. Uh some other people built the

  582. valley gate. It just continues on that

  583. as they joined together as one, each

  584. group began to pick up the pieces, began

  585. to put back in place, began to do the

  586. hard work of repairing the walls

  587. until in verse six.

  588. They had done the work. They had got it

  589. to that half level. They had had moved.

  590. The walls were now all the way around.

  591. They were on their way.

  592. You know, sometimes I think when we

  593. think of life, we just got off of the I

  594. I just I hope you were a part and if

  595. not, this week would be a great week,

  596. but a week of prayer and fasting. And

  597. hopefully it just sets up the pattern of

  598. your life for the the year to spend time

  599. with Jesus and get in the word. Can I

  600. just say I I don't want to be uh called

  601. a heretic this morning, but if we come

  602. and we wake up and morning and we pray

  603. and we never take any action on what God

  604. calls us to do, we get in the word and

  605. we never have life change. We get in his

  606. spirit and he speaks and we never take

  607. forward progression. We never take

  608. ground on what he's doing in our heart

  609. and we just sit there.

  610. I'm just saying I think we're missing

  611. what God wants. No, we come meet with

  612. him. We experience him. We let the word

  613. become real in us. Why? So that we can

  614. get the tools and we can start to build

  615. the wall and we put the gate back

  616. together. Why? So we can see one more

  617. come to know Jesus. And we get to do

  618. that on Sundays. But church, it goes

  619. well beyond Sundays into every part of

  620. our life. And we spend time with him and

  621. we talk and we pray just like Nehemiah.

  622. Why? So that we can pick up the tools

  623. and the weapons that we need to do and

  624. accomplish what God has called us to do.

  625. Church, we pray. We believe. We cry out.

  626. We ask so that we are prepared and ready

  627. to go into battle so we're ready to

  628. fight for the things that matter to

  629. Jesus.

  630. Serving work things that are valuable.

  631. In fact, I mentioned Pastor Dave and Kay

  632. started this church in 1980. Yeah, I I

  633. don't think there's a harder working

  634. person than my dad who works. He would I

  635. think his love languages work like he

  636. just works morning to night. I I grew up

  637. obviously in his home and everyone would

  638. go to bed and he might go back to church

  639. to work like I don't even think he

  640. needed to but he just needed to do more

  641. stuff to work. He just enjoyed it. It

  642. was like you watch a football game I'll

  643. go work like ah nice

  644. wait work. But you know what I will

  645. never doubt because I saw him is he was

  646. someone that would wake up and I don't

  647. know how many hundreds or probably

  648. thousands of times I saw him with his

  649. Bible on the kitchen table and he would

  650. re was reading and spending time with

  651. the Lord. He had put in the the work of

  652. talking and of hearing the Lord and of

  653. being in prayer. He would go to prayer

  654. gatherings for pastors all over the city

  655. of Columbus. He would spend time in

  656. prayer, spend time believing, spend time

  657. asking, spend time Lord Jesus. And then

  658. he would get his shovel. A lot of times

  659. literally his shovel. He would get his

  660. hammer. He would work. He would write a

  661. sermon or do the things that he was

  662. called to do in that moment. It wasn't

  663. one or the other. And we must be people

  664. that pray and cry out and ask and

  665. sometimes look and evaluate, Lord, what

  666. do you want to do? How do you want to

  667. move in me? What do you want to look

  668. different?

  669. And then as the Lord in strengthens and

  670. powers, then we must be people that

  671. work.

  672. You say, "I'm going to go. I'm going to

  673. go where you called me to go." I

  674. mentioned that that we celebrated the

  675. life of Chris Little and it was amazing

  676. the pastors and the leaders from all

  677. over the world literally that were here

  678. that were just saying someone 19 years

  679. that gave her life to see Zambia and the

  680. people of Zambia come to know Jesus. and

  681. she was a hard worker and she'd go where

  682. people other people didn't want to go.

  683. She would do things other people didn't

  684. want to do.

  685. Why? Because she understood the heart of

  686. what God was doing. And what did she do?

  687. She got a group of people of churches

  688. and pastors from America that would

  689. support and pray and they could be

  690. united a part of the AG Assembly of God

  691. World Fellowship where we're united to

  692. reach the world for Jesus.

  693. And she gave her whole life to her dying

  694. moment. And even then, she's like,

  695. "Lord, if you heal me, I'll go back

  696. because there's another tribe. There's

  697. another group. There's another village.

  698. Lord, are people are we praying? And

  699. then are we working? We're giving it all

  700. to Jesus." And I just want to say that

  701. as the body of Christ, as individuals,

  702. we must be people that spend time with

  703. Jesus. and let that time with Jesus

  704. transform into us moving into what he's

  705. called us to do and who he's called us

  706. to be. Janelle, if you want to come on

  707. back up here on the piano, that would be

  708. great.

  709. And this morning, as we think, what's

  710. this look like? What does this mean for

  711. us? Maybe individually for you. What

  712. does it mean for me? And what does it

  713. mean for you? When we think of the walk

  714. with the Lord, when we think of our

  715. church, I think culture would say

  716. consume. Culture could say, "What can I

  717. get?" Culture would would say, "Hey,

  718. what else can happen here? What can be a

  719. blessing in my life?" And as a church

  720. family, I pray that that's what we do is

  721. I hope that people come and they get to

  722. experience him and kids are discipled

  723. and trained and we're going to tweak and

  724. figure out what can we do to reach one

  725. more person for Jesus.

  726. But I would pray that as the part of the

  727. rad fam that if this is your church home

  728. that we're also that you're not here

  729. just to sit. You're not here just to

  730. receive.

  731. There may be seasons or times where

  732. that's good or appropriate. But then

  733. there's the moment where we've spent

  734. with Jesus and we've we've talked with

  735. him and we let him change us and renew

  736. us. Maybe we've just jumped into

  737. relationship with him.

  738. But then we say now it's time that as

  739. I'm being discipled, I'm going to

  740. disciple others. As I'm walking in the

  741. Lord, I'm going to help people follow

  742. along in the journey. I'm going to

  743. contribute to the call that God has

  744. given me, but also us because we're a

  745. part of [music] the Radfam

  746. together.

  747. I mentioned our our family gatherings

  748. and when we grew up until just a few

  749. years ago, most of the food, most of the

  750. effort, most of the work, my mom,

  751. [music]

  752. she did it all pretty much. We might

  753. bring a pie that we bought from Costco

  754. or, you know, we might do something, but

  755. she supplied it all.

  756. You know, as it it's gotten to a

  757. different stage of life, all of a sudden

  758. we're hosting Thanksgiving and

  759. Christmas, which seems really weird,

  760. like really weird. And then Jaime's

  761. bringing food and we're bringing the

  762. main dish and dad brings mashed potatoes

  763. and we've got all the pieces and people

  764. who come are throwing in and pitching

  765. in. And I'll tell you what, it was

  766. really great. It was great having mom

  767. just make it all the food and do all the

  768. work and not get any sleep.

  769. Anybody? Yeah. a bunch of you understand

  770. what I'm saying.

  771. But there's something better and sweeter

  772. about when we all are apart and we're

  773. all bringing and we're all doing and we

  774. get there and the stress level just

  775. seems like it has even gone down. It's

  776. like ah cuz there's not one person

  777. carrying this load and trying to do it

  778. all so that we the kids just get to have

  779. a great time.

  780. And I think when we understand the truth

  781. of God, he has so much for you as an

  782. individual. He wants you to experience

  783. and to consume and to experience. But

  784. then church, he's called each one of us.

  785. What is it that I can bring? What it is

  786. that I can do? What part [music] can I

  787. play and seeing this church because

  788. we're a part of this church be able to

  789. grow? What part can I play to see kids

  790. ministry be able to expand where right

  791. now they have 80-ish 90 that are in that

  792. wing on a normal Sunday morning? Well, I

  793. just want you to know on Sundays when we

  794. have 100 or 110 in there this year, I

  795. think we got up to like 119 one Sunday,

  796. it is a lot.

  797. What helps a lot feel like not a lot?

  798. Jamie, you were leading through those

  799. more people. If we want to grow and we

  800. want to be prepared for one more for

  801. Jesus over and over and over, just so

  802. you know, we have to have more people

  803. [music] that say, "I'm willing to pick

  804. up the instrument. I'm willing to, in

  805. this case, I'm willing to love some

  806. kids,

  807. to take care of some kids. I'm willing

  808. to be in an environment where sometimes

  809. some kids are okay. Sometimes all kids,

  810. they can get a little excited in times

  811. when they're not supposed to. But are we

  812. willing to say no, we want to see the

  813. kingdom of God, our little portion that

  814. we get to steward and work together as a

  815. family grow.

  816. We need to see a whole lot more kids

  817. ministry volunteers. Maybe you have

  818. skill you never told, but you first of

  819. all are a team player and you're like,

  820. "Hey, and I can play instruments or I

  821. can sing." [music] You know what? We

  822. need more. If we're going to grow and

  823. expand, we need more in the body. Maybe

  824. you say, "I've never worked a camera in

  825. my life, but it looks fun and I would be

  826. willing if you trained me." Or maybe you

  827. say, "I love this stuff."

  828. Does that mean I have to show up at a

  829. certain time? Yeah, it takes discipline.

  830. Every piece of work takes discipline,

  831. right? Maybe first impressions. If

  832. you're grumpy looking, you can't do it.

  833. But if you can smile and keep it on the

  834. whole time when you're out there

  835. greeting, then Liz would love to have

  836. you come and join. And as we as the body

  837. of Christ get to do [music] these

  838. things, and this morning we're talking

  839. about Sunday morning things that are the

  840. life, the engine of the church, there's

  841. all the other things, all the other

  842. ministries, all the other places. But

  843. church, when we rise up and [music]

  844. stand up, then all of a sudden we don't

  845. say, "I don't have enough. We can't

  846. figure it out. we can't have any more

  847. [music] kids or we can't split that, but

  848. instead it's like, hey, this is great.

  849. Can I just speak just for a moment? What

  850. would happen if in kids ministry we just

  851. had so many adults that on some days

  852. it's like, "Hey, thank you. Could you

  853. just be praying in service just in case,

  854. but we don't need [music] you to be here

  855. this morning." Like anybody that would

  856. be amazing, Pastor Jamie, you did it for

  857. a long time. There's some other kids,

  858. pastors and the pastor in the room.

  859. Like, woo, that would be wild.

  860. What would happen if that's [music] the

  861. side where we were instead of maybe like

  862. the dinners for my whole life up until a

  863. few years ago where one [music] person

  864. does all the work and makes it happen

  865. and sometimes you just have to put on

  866. your back. No, we don't want to be that

  867. kind of place. [music]

  868. And my ask today is truly not for people

  869. to just sign up for stuff. Although that

  870. [music] hopefully would be the overflow.

  871. But my ask is this the place that God

  872. has you to be a part of the family. And

  873. if so, would you seriously pray?

  874. Seriously ask him, Lord, what does that

  875. look like for me to get connected? Not

  876. to just consume, not just to come, which

  877. is great and great starting spot and

  878. great seasonal thing, but Lord, what is

  879. it that I can do so that we could be

  880. ready?

  881. As a church family, I'm just going to

  882. let you know I'm believing. We're

  883. believing as a church staff, we're

  884. believing that we're going to see double

  885. kingdom impact, which would include

  886. we're going to give twice as much to

  887. missions. I'm believing over the next

  888. three years, we're going to be able to

  889. see eight or more $100,000 a year we're

  890. sending out. I'm believing we're going

  891. to see double impact in our numbers,

  892. [music] which would mean that we go from

  893. 400ish to 800ish. That's a whole entire

  894. different place. And some people might

  895. say, "That's too big. I don't think

  896. anything's too big if it's for the

  897. kingdom of God." And we're not looking

  898. to be a mega church. I don't care about

  899. that. But I care about one person coming

  900. to know Jesus. And if they keep doing

  901. it, we've got to grow. That's how it

  902. works. But church, we [music] cannot see

  903. the practical things, the growth things,

  904. the spiritual things happen unless

  905. there's more people that are leading,

  906. more people that are saying hello and

  907. running the things that make it

  908. comfortable. more people that are

  909. leading and singing, more people who are

  910. caring [music] for our kids,

  911. maybe more people who would even say,

  912. "You know what? I don't know if the kids

  913. ministry is my number one thing, but the

  914. Lord has given me a call to it." And

  915. this is weird cuz I would have never

  916. thought and it'll give you grace for the

  917. things that he would call you to. And I

  918. don't know what he's got. But what I do

  919. know is [music] as a church family, if

  920. we can be like the people here with

  921. Nehemiah in Nehemiah and we could say,

  922. "Lord, we're going to do it together."

  923. And Lord, we've got a dream. Lord, we've

  924. got a vision. And now we're going to go

  925. hard after that vision and we're going

  926. to do it not with 20 or 30 [music] or

  927. 40% of us picking up the tools and the

  928. weapons and making it happen. But what

  929. happens if 80% of us, which means maybe

  930. there's 20% that are new and figuring it

  931. out or in a season of rest because of

  932. life or that's good. That's that's

  933. healthy.

  934. But what happens if we all say we're

  935. going to rise?

  936. And my invite to you today is that

  937. Sunday morning is kind of the the engine

  938. of the the life of the church. And we

  939. would invite every person [music] that

  940. you make this your home at least once a

  941. month to say, "I'm going to serve on

  942. Sunday morning. I'm going to be a part.

  943. The four main areas in production, and

  944. worship, and first impressions, in kids

  945. ministry." If you say, "I I should

  946. start. I should have started." This

  947. would be a great time. I can promise you

  948. this. My team hears it. Liz is going to

  949. make sure it happens. if you sign up,

  950. we're going to be calling you. We're

  951. going to be texting you. We're going to

  952. figure out what that looks like. And not

  953. because it's something that just helps

  954. us, but I believe with all my heart that

  955. when we come together [music] and when

  956. we are united and like the people here,

  957. great things are possible as a whole.

  958. But I also believe that when we

  959. participate, [music] he does something

  960. in me, in you.

  961. He builds us and draws us. And community

  962. is so important. And when we are serving

  963. together and building up together,

  964. [music] we're a part of a community that

  965. gets together at 9:00 on Sunday morning

  966. and we pray together.

  967. What do you need in your life? We talk

  968. to each other as we stand. [music] We

  969. talk as we serve and kids or maybe first

  970. impressions wherever we get to sit and

  971. the Lord speaks. There's something about

  972. it. And today my ask is that you would

  973. pray, Lord, this is this is my place.

  974. You're here. Most of you, this is your

  975. place.

  976. We invite those maybe that are new. make

  977. this your place and [music] then ask

  978. him, "Lord, what do you have for me?"

  979. If you're not sure, you can sign up. You

  980. can go out to one of those boos and

  981. we'll follow up with you. You can talk

  982. [music] to to Liz. Come let her know to

  983. Pastor Nate. They would love to just

  984. connect with you. We'll go sit down at

  985. at dinner or coffee with you and we'd

  986. love to just pour into you. What What is

  987. it? What does God want to do? How's he

  988. want to move in you? Because that's what

  989. it's all about.

  990. So I want to [music] encourage today

  991. that we as a church we build with

  992. purpose.

  993. Today that is a call to join teams to

  994. use your gifts. But it's because I

  995. believe so strongly through the word

  996. that when the rad fam serves together

  997. when [music] we're united when we're

  998. moving in the same direction truly

  999. anything is possible.

1000. And God has so much that he's doing

1001. already and so much that he plans to do

1002. through this church which is you.

1003. we get to be a part of it. And so as we

1004. close today, there's a few things that

1005. you can ask the Lord. Number one, I

  1006. mentioned membership. It's 15 minutes

1007. [music] right after church in the

1008. connect room. If you say, "I need to

1009. become a member." We invite you. Would

1010. you come stop in the room? You're not

1011. signing up anything until you sign up in

1012. there. But I would love to talk with you

1013. for just 15 minutes or so, connect you

1014. with how and what that looks like

1015. [music] to become a member. And uh that

1016. would be option one or a thing maybe out

1017. of there. And then for the rest, maybe

1018. you're not a part and you say, "You know

1019. what? I need to jump in." Pick an area,

  1020. [music]

1021. one of the four areas that are out

1022. there. First impressions, kids ministry,

1023. production, worship. Say, "Hey, I I just

1024. want some more information. We'd love to

1025. walk that [music] journey with you.

  1026. Let's get connected. Let's be together."

1027. And before we leave, my prayer. And what

1028. we're going to close with is that

1029. [music] we would be as the Rad Fam

1030. united. We would be moving in the same

1031. direction. that we wouldn't be separate

1032. ministries or ideas, but we would be

1033. moving in what God has called us to

1034. because anything is possible when his

1035. church is united. So this morning, if

1036. you would, could we just stand to our

1037. feet today? If you're able this morning,

1038. maybe if you're okay as well, can we

1039. just lift our hands to the Lord just as

1040. a sign of s surrender to him? And Lord,

1041. we are thankful today, Lord. We're

1042. thankful for [music] who you are, Lord.

1043. When we read your word, unity is so

1044. important. Psalm 133, where brothers

1045. dwell in unity, there the Lord commands

1046. the blessing. And Lord, we pray that you

1047. would bind our hearts together. That you

1048. would let us be united like at no other

1049. time. Lord Jesus, united with the call

1050. to see one more [music] come to know

1051. you, Jesus. That who we are. That's it.

1052. Lord, changing lives, developing [music]

1053. leaders, sharing the love of Jesus, and

1054. not only here, but everywhere. Lord,

1055. that's our call. So Lord, would you bind

1056. us together to accomplish what you

1057. [music] have called us to accomplish.

1058. And Lord, I pray for this church. In

1059. fact, I pray for people [music] that

1060. they feel disconnected, Lord, in their

1061. life. They feel like they're alone. They

1062. feel like they don't have that [music]

1063. support around them. And specifically

1064. when it comes to the truth of your word

1065. and spiritual support. And I would pray

1066. today that you would bless and you

1067. [music] would encourage. and Lord that

1068. this even today would be a day when many

1069. would say this is my church. This is my

1070. home and I'm going to become a part of

  1071. what you're doing.

1072. Lord, would you bless Lord? I would pray

1073. that nobody could come here and [music]

1074. feel like there's outsiders or on the

1075. outside, but Lord, that they would each

1076. one of us feel like we're connected.

1077. Lord, help us individually [music] to

1078. take the steps to be sure that that's a

  1079. reality.

1080. Lord, we love you. We thank you. We

1081. praise you. And we ask you for a mighty

1082. move of your spirit. Even as we go in

1083. the foyer, even as we talk, even as we

1084. [music] encourage one another, Lord, let

1085. us be built up in you and what you have.

1086. We thank you. We praise you. We worship

1087. you today, Jesus. You're so good. You

1088. are so good, Jesus. We thank you. Bless

1089. your people. Let us walk in you. And

1090. even while we think about and as we

1091. commit to unity, Lord, I pray this week

1092. that you would do special things in

1093. these people in their lives, in their

1094. homes, in their jobs, in their families,

1095. whatever situations, in their bodies or

1096. their health. Lord, build up, encourage,

1097. and bring life. We love you. We thank

1098. you. Give we just give you glory today.

1099. You're so good. You're the only one

1100. that's worthy. You're the only one. And

1101. we give you all the praise. It's in your

1102. name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

1103. Amen. Well, I just want to say thank you

1104. for coming today. One more time, if you

1105. want to jump into membership or learn

1106. more in the connect room, talk out

1107. there, find a place you can get

1108. connected. Wednesday night, join us for

1109. midweek, we get to sit at tables and

1110. talk and discuss and get in each other's

1111. lives. And then one more time, next

1112. Sunday morning, vision service. [music]

1113. One big service 10:00 followed by a

1114. vision meeting and potluck. Bring a side

1115. or a dessert. And we're so thankful for

1116. you this week. Be careful what you

1117. watch. Be careful what you listen

1118. [music] to. Be careful what you talk

1119. about. Savor the presence of Jesus. Have

  1120. a great week.
