  1. Come on. Thank you, Pastor Matt.

  2. Lots of exciting things happening and so

  3. thankful just to be able to go after

  4. Jesus with you all. Well, I am pumped to

  5. be back. As we mentioned a couple times,

  6. uh church, not having church on Sunday

  7. is like I hate it. Some of you maybe I

  8. don't know, you skip sometimes. I don't

  9. know what's wrong with you, but I never

  10. skip. And it's not cuz I'm a pastor. I

  11. think it's because of my how I was

  12. raised. In fact, when we are on

  13. vacation, we generally if we can find a

  14. church to go to, uh, solid church, we're

  15. going to go. We're going to be a part.

  16. Our kids are like, we want to go to

  17. church. In fact, my kids, they go to

  18. youth group. They find a midweek youth

  19. group when we're on vacation. And

  20. they'll go to youth group when we're on

  21. vacation. Not because we make them, but

  22. because they want to. I'm like, this is

  23. awesome. So, I hate missing church. Uh,

  24. but so glad to be back this morning and

  25. be able to go after Jesus together. and

  26. uh just so so thankful for you all.

  27. Well, today we get to continue in our

  28. anything is possible series as we're

  29. walking through the book of Nehemiah.

  30. Now, in Nehemiah, we have seen lots of

  31. things happened. This is a book that was

  32. all about the people of Israel returning

  33. to Jerusalem and the walls were had been

  34. torn down 150 years before and Nehemiah

  35. from a word of the Lord said, "Hey,

  36. we've got to fix this. This is not

  37. okay." The walls being torn down meant

  38. that basically the people were a

  39. laughingstock. They weren't even really

  40. a country or nation is how the people

  41. around would have looked at them because

  42. they didn't have walls. They didn't have

  43. protection. They didn't have anything to

  44. to keep them or to even be proud of. And

  45. because of the word of the Lord to

  46. Nehemiah, because of the people that God

  47. put around Nehemiah and said, including

  48. the king he was working under, these

  49. people that were in exile, Nehemiah got

  50. to go back, go to Jerusalem and they

  51. built the walls. In fact, it says in 52

  52. days, they rebuilt the walls. Now, I was

  53. in Jerusalem a few years ago, and I

  54. cannot imagine rebuilding those walls,

  55. putting them back together, fixing all

  56. the gates, doing all the things in 502

  57. days. But that's what they did. Once

  58. they did that, we've seen over the last

  59. few weeks that they didn't only build

  60. them, but then they consecrated

  61. themselves to the Lord. They committed

  62. themselves to the Lord. They offered

  63. themselves to the Lord. And that's what

  64. we see here as we get to Nehemiah

    Nehemiah 10 chapter mention

  65. chapter 10. The earlier parts were uh

  66. really about the covenant, about

  67. committing themselves, about publicly

  68. saying we will serve the Lord. They

  69. chose obedience before offerings. They

  70. chose surrender before sacrifice.

  71. You can see they confronted compromise

  72. in their nation. They committed

  73. themselves fully to the Lord and his

  74. priorities. This was a big moment, not

  75. only a victory because walls were there.

  76. And in fact is it mentions that the the

  77. people around them were scared were

  78. terrified because they knew that God

  79. must be with them for what happened to

  80. have happened.

  81. And when we get to this moment here I

  82. think the Lord wants to teach us and

  83. speak a lot but specifically today about

  84. plowing our heart. Now before we

  85. continue a few years now more than a

  86. decade ago I got to lead a missions team

  87. to Swasilland Africa. It was amazing. We

  88. got to see the work that our

  89. missionaries, missionary Kevin was doing

  90. all over Swasilland. They had different

  91. feeding programs, homes. They were

  92. putting uh they call them in church,

  93. ICBC's in church by uh church, our

  94. community that the community would plant

  95. churches uh through the missions work.

  96. They had them all over the place.

  97. Absolutely amazing. As I mentioned,

  98. food, but the one place that really

  99. stuck out to me was they had this whole

  100. city. They literally bought a city,

  101. hundreds of homes, and they had foster

  102. community. The the whole goal was that

  103. this would be a self-functioning,

  104. self-reliant city for foster kids that

  105. people would go and they would pour into

  106. the kids. They would be businesses that

  107. would support the ministry. And so, they

  108. had been working. They had over 200 kids

  109. that were being fostered in homes, not

  110. in like group homes, but they would have

  111. a home with two or three or four foster

  112. kids and a a foster parent that would be

  113. leading them. And it was amazing the

  114. work that God was doing. Just sometimes

  115. you sit back and say, "Who thought to

  116. even think about doing this? This is

  117. amazing." But while we were in

  118. Swasilland, maybe even more impactful

  119. than that, is we were out in the middle

  120. of nowhere. Uh they it's one of those

  121. things they call it a village, but when

  122. you look around, you don't see any

  123. village. You just see huts there and way

  124. over there, maybe a few. But that was

  125. their village. Uh it was very very poor

  126. to the point where they did not many of

  127. them have food and the missionaries

  128. would give them rice packs and different

  129. things just to help them survive. It was

  130. very sad the whole situation. But the

  131. missionaries began to teach us and talk

  132. to us about the fact that they had such

  133. a scarcity mentality. They believed that

  134. they could not really survive. So when

  135. they got food, they would eat it. when

  136. they got they wouldn't plant a garden,

  137. but they would eat the seed that they

  138. could plant a garden with because they

  139. couldn't believe that three months or

  140. four months down the road food could

  141. come out of that ground. It just

  142. wouldn't happen for them is how they

  143. believed. They didn't have the work

  144. ethic because they never seen it where

  145. then to water it because where they they

  146. had to water it which meant in their day

  147. it wasn't a hose and a spot. Now, we've

  148. tried a garden before and it didn't work

  149. very well, but that was what we call

  150. laziness because all we had to do is

  151. turn on the faucet and just spray it.

  152. They had to walk a half mile or a mile

  153. or two miles to go to experience to get

  154. water so they could bring it back,

  155. right? They could not fathom this as a

  156. community. And the missionaries were

  157. teaching them. They had they had their

  158. own farm that they would plant that the

  159. community could then learn learn how to

  160. do it so that they could do it

  161. themselves. But we went to one specific

  162. stick and mud hut and it just it's one

  163. of those things you're like people

  164. cannot live in this but it's normal like

  165. for them it's just normal. And when we

  166. went there these super amazing people

  167. but they had nothing come out with

  168. avocados and they are cutting these

  169. avocados because they want us to eat the

  170. avocados. And I'm just going to be real.

  171. I don't like avocado. In fact I hate

  172. avocado. I've learned to like it from

  173. this experience because I'm like, I

  174. should like them because you never know

  175. when you're gonna need one. But man,

  176. eating an avocado with a spoon, just

  177. like eating it out of the I mean, just

  178. eating it. That was not my idea of a

  179. good time. But I'm sitting there, the

  180. missionary is just beaming because this

  181. is the first time that he's seen these

  182. people who are part of their church do

  183. something that wasn't for themsel, but

  184. that was giving. That was to them a

  185. massive step to see them not just afraid

  186. that something bad was going to happen

  187. or I'm going to give away, but they gave

  188. what they didn't have enough of to other

  189. people. Now, we didn't need it. It

  190. wasn't about us at all, but it was about

  191. their heart. And when their heart

  192. changed and the missionaries like

  193. anything's possible. They can get it in

  194. their walk with the Lord, in their

  195. finances, in food supply, and all these

  196. areas. And you should have seen the

  197. missionary when we left. He was so

  198. excited. Not because we got avocado.

  199. That did not matter. We had all that we

  200. needed.

  201. But because these people understood that

  202. when I give, something special is going

  203. to happen. When I step out of what's

  204. normal, something special is going to

  205. happen. And I would look at it as what

  206. we're going to talk about today. They

  207. had plowed the heart. The missionaries,

  208. the pastors had plowed the heart. And

  209. there became a moment when all of a

  210. sudden they said, "It is better to

  211. give." And what a sacrifice. Not like

  212. when we put $5 in an offering plate if

  213. we did those, but threw online or

  214. however we give it in a box.

  215. But they gave what they did not have.

  216. And I asked, "Where do they get avocados

  217. from?" Like, I don't haven't seen any of

  218. them. And they said they probably had to

  219. walk five miles to this village and they

  220. probably gave all of what they had,

  221. whatever it was, to trade to get these

  222. avocados so that they could have

  223. something special. They said, "And they

  224. gave their special, which they didn't

  225. have tons and tons. They probably gave

  226. all of them to you guys." And they once

  227. again were so excited about the heart of

  228. these people that had changed from what

  229. would never have done that to believing

  230. that God can do even more in their life.

  231. And when we look here and we look into

  232. uh Nehemiah chapter 10,

    Nehemiah 10 chapter mention

  233. I think we see a people that are

  234. understanding God has so much more.

  235. They've seen the miracle of the walls.

  236. They've begun the the journey of

  237. committing themselves to him, their

  238. hearts to him, getting rid of stuff,

  239. getting rid of things that should not be

  240. there.

  241. But then in Nehemiah 10:35

    Nehemiah 10:35

  242. says, "We obligate ourselves to bring

  243. the first fruits of our ground and the

  244. first fruits of all fruit of every tree

  245. year by year to the house of the Lord."

  246. And what I see here is their hearts were

  247. plowed, their hearts were prepared,

  248. their hearts were ready. It had been

  249. stirred up to a point that they got

  250. before the Lord and they didn't say,

  251. "We'll see what happens. We'll see what

  252. happens when our with our walk with you.

  253. We'll see what happens in relationship.

  254. We'll see what happens in our finances

  255. or in first fruits of what we're going

  256. to do. We'll see if there's enough." No,

  257. they said we obligate. We choose. They

  258. made a distinct choice to say, "God, I

  259. will intentionally serve you and worship

  260. you and even offer to you the first

  261. fruits of our lives.

  262. their hearts had been plowed. This

  263. hearts being plowed is such a a

  264. challenge. It's such a thing that I

  265. think sometimes we may or maybe more

  266. often don't really want to do because

  267. plowing it's a hard thing to do. It's

  268. difficult. The preparation, the getting

  269. ready, the the work that it takes. Now,

  270. my dad, he always would say something

  271. that I I found to be amazing. But we

  272. have heated with wood at our house. So,

  273. we cut it, split it, we do all the

  274. stuff. Uh, don't tell him. I mean, he

  275. knows, but I buy mine pre-split now.

  276. It's way easier. Way easier. But he

  277. would do it. Cut it from the tree. Like,

  278. cut the tree all the way through. And he

  279. said that when you do that, you warm

  280. yourself multiple times. You warm

  281. yourself when you're cutting down the

  282. tree. You warm yourself when you're

  283. cutting the tree up. You warm the

  284. yourself when you're splitting the tree,

  285. when you're stacking the tree, when

  286. you're bringing it in your house, when

  287. you're burning your fire. There's more

  288. times. But you warm yourself over and

  289. over and over again. It's a job to heat

  290. with wood. It's a job to do things that

  291. are hard. And church, it is a job to

  292. plow soil. I don't know if you've ever

  293. tried to put a a garden in. And maybe

  294. like us, you've said, "Oh, it'll be fun.

  295. We'll just do it." And you buy a little

  296. tiller thing. And you start doing it,

  297. and you realize that the tiller that you

  298. bought won't actually go into the ground

  299. that you have because it's so hard. And

  300. so you try to use whatever tool you

  301. have. It is hard to plow the ground to

  302. prepare for the soil for planting. And

  303. church, is it possible if you're like me

  304. that it is hard to plow the ground of

  305. our heart? It's hard to change what has

  306. been and compacted and put into place.

  307. It is hard to get to the point where

  308. it's not only words, but it's because of

  309. preparation where we come and say,

  310. "Lord, not only do I serve you or do I

  311. give you some, but Lord, I obligate

  312. myself to bring you my life. I choose

  313. with a a choice that is meaningful

  314. because I've done the work. I give it to

  315. you. I didn't stumble into it, but I

  316. have chosen. And I give you every part,

  317. every bit of who I am." It's hard work.

  318. Plowing the soil is terrible. Preparing

  319. the tree for the fireplace is terrible.

  320. But church, more than anything else,

  321. when we start messing with our heart, we

  322. start messing with what we've always

  323. been used to. We start messing with what

  324. we where we've come from, we start

  325. messing with what we think. Church,

  326. that's hard hard work. In fact, I would

  327. say by far the hardest thing that you

  328. can do is when you start to say, "Lord,

  329. would you plow my heart? Would you

  330. change my heart? Would you make me who

  331. you've called me to do?" That Hosea

    Hosea 10:12

  332. 10:12, "Break up your followow ground.

  333. For it is time to seek the Lord." If

  334. we're going to seek him, we must break

  335. up the ground and let there be change

  336. and newness that comes into our life.

  337. Our hearts must be plowed.

  338. What is it that we need to do to break

  339. up the ground? But as we continue in

  340. verse 36, it goes on to bring to the

  341. house of our God, to the priests who

  342. minister in the house of our God, the

  343. firstborn of our sons and of our cattle,

  344. and to bring the first of our dough and

  345. our contributions, the fruit of every

  346. tree, the wine and the oil, and to bring

  347. to the Levites the tithes from our

  348. ground.

  349. They plow their hearts,

  350. but then they have chosen to open their

  351. hands. And I think these things go

  352. together. We prepare our hearts for what

  353. God has, but then are we going to truly

  354. let God speak life and truth and the

  355. things of his word into us? Are we truly

  356. going to let him change us? Are we going

  357. to truly live with our hands open before

  358. him where we say, "Lord, my time, my

  359. talent, my treasure, it is all yours.

  360. Not parts and pieces and a little here

  361. and a little there." No, but am I fully

  362. going to give him every part of my life

  363. and just like plowing our heart? It's

  364. hard.

  365. Anybody like control? Anybody prefer

  366. things to go how you want them to go?

  367. Anybody want things exactly that way?

  368. And you really don't have much of a

  369. desire to have others change it up. Or

  370. truly, if we're being honest, we don't

  371. want God to change it up either.

  372. Plowing is hard. Preparing is hard. But

  373. it's also hard to let our hands be open

  374. and say, "Lord, now you do what you

  375. want. Plant in me what you want. Let my

  376. life be what you want." the people here.

  377. It's not only about money, but what does

  378. it say? To bring to the house of our

  379. God, to the priests who minister in the

  380. house of our God, the very first thing,

  381. the firstborn of our sons.

  382. When the Lord comes, he's not asking for

  383. money or not asking for time or asking

  384. for something. He's asking for all of

  385. you. And if I think about my life, what

  386. would be the biggest thing if Rachel and

  387. I are like, well, what you know, what

  388. could the Lord ask? He asked for our

  389. kids. He asked for everything. The

  390. biggest thing as a parent, you're like,

  391. of all the things, I'll give up

  392. everything, but not my kids. What he

  393. asks for all of who we are. He doesn't

  394. ask for pieces and parts and little bit

  395. here and little bit there. But he asked

  396. for us to come before him with open

  397. hands and say, "God, you take every part

  398. of who I am. Break up the fow ground in

  399. me. I open my hands to you. I give you

  400. every part of who I am."

  401. Here are the people they were willing to

  402. give their firstborn, their cattle, the

  403. stuff that they had, the things that

  404. came out of the ground. mentions the

  405. tithes from the ground bringing to the

  406. Levites or the pastors to the church

  407. that they brought those things because

  408. it was a commitment that they made. They

  409. said, "I obligate myself. I give my life

  410. not because I have to, but because I've

  411. seen you at work. I've seen you move.

  412. And therefore, I don't want compromise

  413. in my life. I don't want to see anything

  414. in me that does not line up with your

  415. word, with what you're speaking, and

  416. with who you are. My hands are open."

  417. It's a different way of living, church.

  418. Not a what can I get? What can I

  419. experience? What do I have? But when I

  420. say Lord, it's all yours.

  421. You know, as I was thinking and praying,

  422. I think the biggest thing that just

  423. lines up and I'd say probably every area

  424. of our life, but when we think of

  425. marriages or relationships,

  426. there's two ways to live a marriage.

  427. One's good, one not so good. There's a

  428. way where we open with our hands open to

  429. our spouse. I want to serve you. What do

  430. you need? I'm going to provide, going to

  431. take care, I'm going to strengthen.

  432. Whatever you need. My hands are open.

  433. And there's another group of people that

  434. live with a what can you do for me? And

  435. my hands are closed because I want and

  436. it's me and my needs and my problems.

  437. And if you did and if you took care and

  438. as I was thinking of my walk with the

  439. Lord, thinking my wife, my relationship

  440. with my wife, thinking bring in our jobs

  441. and our parenting and any part of our

  442. life when we walk with the Lord with our

  443. hands open to him. We walk with him and

  444. say, Jesus, you get every part of me. I

  445. may not love my job, but I know it's

  446. where you've called me. My hands are

  447. open and I will be the minister, the

  448. follower of Jesus, the minister of the

  449. gospel to that place where I can't I

  450. can't go. You can to you hands open at

  451. your place of work. Hands open in a

  452. difficult situation at home for a

  453. season. Hands open where you say, "God,

  454. anything you want, I will do."

  455. But it's hard.

  456. It's difficult. When things are

  457. difficult, we want to go the other

  458. direction. But when it's with the Lord,

  459. Lord, I'm going to plow my heart. Lord,

  460. it's hard at work, but Lord, I'm going

  461. to keep being consistent and faithful

  462. until you call me somewhere else. Lord,

  463. my marriage, it may be as difficult, but

  464. Lord, I'm going to serve and my hands

  465. are open. I love and I'm going to care.

  466. It's not about what I can get, but it's

  467. about what I can give and who I can be

  468. in power of God. And when we serve one

  469. another, church, that's when all of a

  470. sudden marriages are so much fun. It's

  471. what it should be. It's what the design

  472. has been. It's when our jobs all no

  473. longer do I hate my job because hey, I

  474. might not even love what I'm doing, but

  475. I love serving Jesus. And when I love

  476. serving Jesus, I have my hands open.

  477. Lord, if you've put me here, you move in

  478. me. Student, at whatever age you are in

  479. this room. I don't like school. Well, I

  480. didn't like school when I was in school

  481. either. But if it's your worship to the

  482. Lord, if he's called you there, then you

  483. have hands open to him. You say, "Lord,

  484. use me right here, right now." And

  485. something I tell my kids all the time is

  486. if you just do the work, if you just

  487. accomplish the task, if you turn in

  488. every assignment, if you do what's been

  489. placed before you because you've been

  490. called to go do this, so now you do it,

  491. then you're going to do really well at

  492. school, at life, in marriage, I'm going

  493. to keep serving, I'm going to keep

  494. following you. And when we come before

  495. the Lord and we say, Lord, what do you

  496. want to do? Let your word be real in my

  497. life and my hands are open. I'm not

  498. trying to put the word inside of my

  499. clenched fist. I'm not trying to get it

  500. to work inside of what I want, but

  501. instead, Lord, you move in me. And as

  502. you move in me, I will do what you've

  503. called me to do. That's someone who is

  504. walking with a plowed heart. You've

  505. broken up the fow ground. You're walking

  506. with open hands. Lord, you can have my

  507. kids.

  508. Lord, you can have my talents, my time,

  509. my treasure, every part of who I am,

  510. the first fruits.

  511. Lord, you take every part of me. And you

  512. know, when I look throughout the word, I

  513. love just jumping back to the early

  514. church. Jesus has just been here. He

  515. went to heaven. Now, the early churches,

  516. there 3,000 people. In Acts chapter 2,

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  517. come to know the Lord. In Acts 2:45, it

    Acts 2:45

  518. says they were selling their possessions

  519. and belongings and distributing the

  520. proceeds to all as any had need. It's

  521. like, why would they do this? They had

  522. just been with Jesus. They had just been

  523. then filled with the Holy Spirit because

  524. they waited for 10 days. They plowed

  525. their hearts. They walked with open

  526. hands. 3,000 people on the day of

  527. Pentecost gave their lives to him. And

  528. now there's all these people. And those

  529. 3,000 would have been most likely from

  530. all over the place that had come for

  531. this the the the uh feast that they were

  532. having, Pentecost. They were coming for

  533. this day. Their lives were changed and

  534. radically transformed. And the church

  535. said, "We'll even sell the stuff we have

  536. to take care of the people around us. We

  537. have plowed our hearts. We've opened our

  538. hands and we'll do whatever it is.

  539. There's something about the power of God

  540. and who he is that we all of a sudden

  541. say, "Lord, anything is yours. All of

  542. it's yours.

  543. It's no longer mine. It's no longer my

  544. stuff or my kids or my family or my life

  545. or my job. But Lord, you've put me here

  546. and I walk in your plan. It's yours. I'm

  547. yours."

  548. when our hearts are plowed, when our

  549. hands are open, and then as a church

  550. family, it brings us to a place where

  551. our steps can be united. Nehemiah then

  552. 10:39 says, "For the people of Israel

  553. and the sons of Levi shall bring the

  554. contribution of grain, wine, and oil to

  555. the chambers where their vessels of the

  556. sanctuary are. We will not neglect the

  557. house of our God." They went from

  558. individually plowing they heart. They

  559. went from individually having open hands

  560. and their sons and the things to a place

  561. where they said we're going to come

  562. together corporately. We're going to be

  563. united in the things of God. This is a a

  564. moment where we realize it's not us

  565. only. But like the early church, they

  566. came together and they were willing to

  567. go after God and amazing things took

  568. place. They will not neglect the house

  569. of our God. It's a collective ownership.

  570. It's a unity that is uh together here

  571. with the people of Israel in our day

  572. with the church, the body of Christ.

  573. We're united. We're connected. We're

  574. moving forward.

  575. When our steps are united, we become a

  576. kingdom building movement.

  577. Not just a consumers of religious

  578. content. We don't come to church just to

  579. get and to to ask for stuff and to ask

  580. for content. know we come and say,

  581. "Lord, we are open to your changing.

  582. We're open to your heart. We're open to

  583. your move. Whatever you want to do, you

  584. do it in us.

  585. Show us your way. Open our hearts." I

  586. pray church that when we come on a

  587. Sunday or a Wednesday and then when

  588. we're walking with the Lord throughout

  589. the week that our hearts are being

  590. plowed, that our hands are open and we

  591. come and say, "Lord, what do you want to

  592. challenge me in today? Lord, what do you

  593. want me to do? Do I need to come to the

  594. altar? Lord, do I need to spend some

  595. extra moments in prayer before I leave?

  596. Because our hearts are open to the Lord.

  597. It's not a religious thing that we do.

  598. It's not just something that's a part of

  599. us, but it is who we are as people to

  600. say, "Lord, anything is possible with

  601. you. I've seen you work. And Lord, I

  602. give you every part of me. My heart is

  603. plowed. My hands are open. Move in my

  604. life."

  605. We get the opportunity to unite our

  606. steps so we can move forward together to

  607. see one more for Jesus both here and

  608. around the world. That is our call

  609. church. We get to come together in the

  610. power of God. Experience his goodness.

  611. Walk in his power.

  612. And when we come united, anything

  613. is possible.

  614. And I'm thankful here what we've seen in

  615. Nehemiah, what we see here in the

  616. beginning parts of Nehemiah chapter 10

    Nehemiah 10 chapter mention

  617. and that here when it's talking more

  618. about possessions and tithe and our our

  619. maybe what we have including our kids

  620. but our whole entire life is we realize

  621. that anything is possible that anything

  622. can change when the church the body of

  623. Christ here the people of Israel come

  624. together

  625. and I believe when we do the future can

  626. be changed. In fact, the future is

  627. changed when his church comes together.

  628. Matthew 6:21 mentions more the the money

    Matthew 6:21

  629. side, if you want to say, the treasure

  630. side. Says, "For where your treasure is,

  631. there your heart will be also." And when

  632. I think about the the walk that we have,

  633. when I think about what he is calling us

  634. to, when I think about my own life, he

  635. does not ask once again for certain

  636. areas and parts, but he asks for all of

  637. you. He wants every part of your life.

  638. He wants you to walk in him. And money

  639. is an interesting thing when we think of

  640. the Bible because Jesus spoke of money

  641. more than he spoke of anything else. the

  642. parables that were on money or finances

  643. or what to do with money, how to handle

  644. money, how difficult money can be when

  645. we have it in large amounts, all of

  646. these areas. But there's something that

  647. happens when we come and understand that

  648. my money has a big impact on the rest of

  649. my life because he says where your

  650. treasure is, your heart is. And when my

  651. treasure is not mine anymore, but it's a

  652. part of the disciplehip process of my

  653. life that I've given it to the Lord,

  654. just like my children and my job and my

  655. heart and my past, every other part.

  656. Then I begin to realize that my future

  657. can be changed in such a dramatic way

  658. when my finances align with what he's

  659. doing in every other part of my life.

  660. Nehemiah's generation changed their

  661. future through covenant generosity.

  662. there and be obedience ensured God's

  663. work would not stall. They would bring

  664. the tithe, the 10% to to the Levites, to

  665. the the pastors, to the church. They'd

  666. bring it to the temple to let God show

  667. up.

  668. And when I think about this thought of

  669. my time and my talent and my treasure as

  670. a church family, we don't function

  671. without people that are serving. This

  672. morning, I just looked right before

  673. coming up. I think there's 90 kids and

  674. leaders that have been on the other side

  675. on the other side of that wall in kids

  676. church today. That's a good solid amount

  677. of kids, right? It takes leaders who are

  678. a part of making that happen. When you

  679. came in, hopefully people were smiling

  680. at you and saying hello. In fact, I saw

  681. them doing it. I talked to somebody

  682. after the first service who said, "We've

  683. been to a lot of churches and they're

  684. visiting from Georgia." And she's like,

  685. "This was so much fun. the spirit just

  686. of being in this place like she just was

  687. beaming. I was like, "Come on, this is

  688. what we like to hear, right?" Why?

  689. Because it takes the church. You know

  690. who didn't talk to her until she came up

  691. to me was me. It was you. It was It was

  692. volunteers. It was people who just love

  693. people that made her feel so welcome. It

  694. was those worshiping around her that

  695. made her feel connected. It takes the

  696. unity of the body of Christ. It takes

  697. the unity of the body of Christ to see

  698. disciplehip happen.

  699. We grow a little bit. We're pushed in

  700. the same direction. The vision is pushed

  701. on a Sunday morning. But church, we grow

  702. way more on a Wednesday night when we're

  703. sitting around a table and hearing

  704. stories and sharing stories. When we get

  705. in life groups and we're in men's group

  706. on Monday night or our ladies group on

  707. Thursday morning and we're we're

  708. spending time in the presence of Jesus

  709. with our church family and someone

  710. starts to talk and sometimes we might

  711. even be like, I'm not sure if that's

  712. correct. And we get to talk about it and

  713. we get to grow through it and we get to

  714. figure we grow in disciplehip when we're

  715. together united moving in the same

  716. direction in God. And church we see

  717. steady incremental growth and in

  718. finances sometimes that might even be

  719. the hardest. I think that's why Jesus

  720. talked about it so much. Where our

  721. treasure is, our heart is.

  722. Your obedience changes lives now and for

  723. eternity. And if you uh by chance grab

  724. these on the way in, great. If not, be

  725. sure to grab them on the way out on the

  726. little tables in each of the hallways.

  727. But this last year, this sheet talks

  728. about what we got to be a part of in

  729. 2025. On the other side, it talks about

  730. what our plan is for 2026, believing to

  731. connect both right here at the Radfam in

  732. local ministries and outreaches and then

  733. to our global missionaries around the

  734. world. We get to do something special

  735. when we do it together. And when we do

  736. it, united.

  737. I think about this church and I think

  738. about from the very first day that

  739. Pastor David Kay started, there were

  740. four people in their living room. They

  741. took an offering with four people. I

  742. don't know if that's awkward or not.

  743. I've thought about that a few times.

  744. Like, you know, there's four of us. I'm

  745. like, "Your turn to give.

  746. Like, do you stare at them or like do

  747. you, you know, I don't know. It'd be

  748. weird to pass it back." But I've thought

  749. about it. From the very first offering

  750. that was taken, they said we're going to

  751. give 10% to the Lord to missions. They

  752. started supporting this uh year. We got

  753. to give over 18% to missions in 2025.

  754. Our goal is 18% here in 2026. Uh Jay,

  755. who led worship this morning, asked in

  756. our vision meeting two weeks ago, what's

  757. the goal? I'm like, I don't know. I

  758. mean, ideally, I guess we could give

  759. 100%. But 20%, like I think 20 is a

  760. place we're working towards. We're going

  761. to give 18 at least this year. And we

  762. want to see more that we give away that

  763. doesn't do anything here but goes to the

  764. nation seeing Jesus to people around us

  765. to our local partners and our global

  766. partners. We're going to give away 18%

  767. because we believe in the power of God.

  768. And how do we do that?

  769. We do that by a church family who plows

  770. our hearts, who opens our hands, and

  771. gets united in the things of God.

  772. We want to challenge you that two weeks

  773. from today, we're going to have a

  774. celebration Sunday. We're going to bring

  775. these cards that we're going to we're

  776. going to fill out. My my prayer and ask

  777. would be that every person in this room

  778. would fill it out. This year, a little

  779. bit different maybe than in years past

  780. is we're asking you a few things.

  781. There's some questions, four different

  782. categories. Maybe you're here and you

  783. say, "I don't really do that church

  784. giving thing." Well, I want to encourage

  785. you to pray. Ask God what he would have

  786. and maybe commit to at least do

  787. something. say, 'Lord, I'll give an

  788. offering. I'll give a gift maybe once or

  789. twice or every once in a while. And we

  790. would put that in a learning category, a

  791. learner category. Learning obedience by

  792. taking your first step, right? Sometimes

  793. that's where we start. And we celebrate

  794. that. We're like, come on. When we take

  795. a step of disciplehip, it's a big deal.

  796. The second group today might be uh we

  797. call a partner that you start to give

  798. consistently as a way of partnering with

  799. God and his work here at Radiant Life

  800. Church. What does that look like? You

  801. say, "I'm going to give a percentage,

  802. 1%, 3%, 7%, 9%. I'm going to give some

  803. percentage to the Lord. I'm going to

  804. partner consistently with the work God

  805. is doing to see people in Southeast Asia

  806. and to see our kids right on the other

  807. side of that wall come to know Jesus."

  808. The third is the tithe. We would call

  809. this the biblical starting point of uh

  810. obedience and giving. What we see here

  811. in Nehemiah and Malachi, other places

  812. throughout the word, they would bring

  813. the tithe, the first fruit, the 10% of

  814. their finances, what God has blessed

  815. them with. Maybe you're here and you

  816. say, "That's me. I can jump to a tithe."

  817. Or maybe you're like, "There's no way."

  818. Pray about what the Lord would have.

  819. There's something that happens. There's

  820. a blessing that comes when we say,

  821. "Lord, I'm going to take a step of

  822. faith." And in fact, we believe so much

  823. in the tithe. We have this little

  824. section. It's green on this side that if

  825. you say, "I'm never tithed, but I want

  826. to start." If you say, "I'm going to

  827. commit to the Lord. I'm going to do it

  828. with a joyful heart." If after 90 days,

  829. you say, "I can't. We can't survive."

  830. We'll give you your money back.

  831. Literally, we'll give it back. We've

  832. never had anybody ask for it back, but

  833. we'll give it back because we believe in

  834. the principle of the tithe so much.

  835. We're not worried about it. God's going

  836. to take care of it. He's going to take

  837. care of you.

  838. And then the fourth area is kingdom

  839. builders.

  840. that you'd say, "I want to be like

  841. Pastor Chris and Rachel. Our goal is to

  842. give 15% of what the Lord would give us

  843. in 2026 back to him." You might be like,

  844. "What?" You know how we did that is we

  845. started lower. We started tithing. And

  846. the Lord has called us to more and to

  847. more. And every time we pick up a

  848. missionary at Radiant Life Church, every

  849. time we join together and see a new

  850. person, a part new project, we know

  851. we're giving because we're kingdom

  852. builders. We're going to pour into what

  853. God has done. And you know what? If the

  854. Lord would ask us in the middle to do

  855. more, to do something extra, we're going

  856. to say yes because we want to live with

  857. our lives open to him. And maybe you'd

  858. say today, I've tithed, but I I don't

  859. know, maybe I'll pray about jumping to

  860. that kingdom builder level.

  861. I want to encourage us as a church

  862. family, if you're a part, if this is

  863. your home, don't just come. And when I

  864. say that, don't just come and leave.

  865. Come serve. Get in a group. Be a part

  866. with people. Let this be a true family

  867. around you. Walk a disciplehip journey,

  868. but don't start or stop with just other

  869. areas or other parts, but also let

  870. finances be a part what Jesus talked

  871. about so much. And when we do, church,

  872. anything is possible. And this year,

  873. we're doing something a little

  874. different. I'm super excited about it.

  875. Uh this last year we had over four well

  876. over $400,000 that came in that went to

  877. missions that we gave away that we got

  878. to pour out. Uh which is awesome. I am

  879. so pumped about it. This next year our

  880. goal is more than last year. But we are

  881. changing to what we'd call a one fund

  882. approach which means when we look at the

  883. card and I mentioned percentages it's

  884. not a percentage for missions or a

  885. percentage for a project or a miss a

  886. percentage for our tithe and offering

  887. but it's all in the same category. So

  888. when we give to our tithe, we give that

  889. 10%. We give we're going to give 18% of

  890. that to missions, right? As a church

  891. family, if we go over above in kingdom

  892. builders, we're going to give to that

  893. pot to what we do. And the church is

  894. going to give 18% of that, which means

  895. you're giving to missions. You're giving

  896. as a church, we're giving. But this

  897. year, we're going to just go to a one

  898. fund approach, which means maybe you've

  899. given in the past tithe and offering and

  900. you've given to missions or what we call

  901. our every nation, every soul. Uh this

  902. year there's going to be one fund every

  903. nation, every soul, which is from here

  904. and around the world. Giving out is

  905. going to be exactly the same as always.

  906. We always give way more than comes in

  907. for missions. And we're going to keep

  908. giving, keep pouring out. And we believe

  909. that as Jay's question was, I'm

  910. believing the 18% goes to 19% goes to

  911. 20% and who knows where the Lord will

  912. take us as a church family as we come

  913. united, as we come bound together, as we

  914. come saying, "Lord, plow my heart. Open

  915. my hands. Let us be united and we know

  916. that the future is going to be changed

  917. as the church comes together united and

  918. we get to be a part fam right here

  919. supporting 76 missionaries and mission

  920. organizations supporting what God is

  921. doing here in kids church this

  922. afternoon. In fact, our youth start fine

  923. arts festival practices which means they

  924. get to be here have to be I don't know

  925. they can think of however they want all

  926. day Sundays from, you know, show for

  927. teams 9:00 all the way until after youth

  928. group. Uh parents, this sounds like a

  929. great opportunity for some time just for

  930. you if you have teenage kids. I'm just

  931. saying we have five kids. All five going

  932. to be here all day. So we have a whole

  933. day for the next three months just for

  934. us. It's going to be pretty great. Uh

  935. and we're going to miss our children so

  936. much at home.

  937. They're right there. So, I had to say

  938. that. But, um, right, we're going to do

  939. these things. Kids, youth, young adults

  940. all around the world, we get to see the

  941. gospel move forward. So, once again, I

  942. want to ask you, would you pray about

  943. what do you want me to do? If you've

  944. been giving faithfully, thank you. If

  945. you're just figuring it out, thank you

  946. for being a part. It's all a journey.

  947. We're all on the journey to let God

  948. move. Our hearts plowed, our hands open,

  949. our steps united, our futures changed.

  950. Let's take a step together. You know,

  951. before we leave this morning, I just

  952. want to uh encourage you if you're here

  953. and maybe you'd say, you know what, I've

  954. never given my life to Jesus. I've never

  955. made him the Lord of my heart. And when

  956. you're talking about this, I I just feel

  957. like my heart is being plowed. And I

  958. want to open my hands to Jesus. The one

  959. who died on a cross. The one who came

  960. and took your pain, your shame, your

  961. sin. He took the things that maybe you

  962. don't want anybody else to know about.

  963. Well, he sees them, but he forgives you

  964. and he welcomes you. And if you say, "I

  965. want that Jesus to be the Lord of my

  966. life for this day and for the rest of my

  967. life," then we want to give you the

  968. opportunity to say yes to him.

  969. right now if we could just put our

  970. ourselves in a position a posture of

  971. prayer maybe that's closing your eyes or

  972. bowing your head or whatever it doesn't

  973. matter but that you say Lord would you

  974. speak to me and right now if you say I

  975. need to know Jesus I want a relationship

  976. with him I don't want to be who I have

  977. been but I want to be a child of God and

  978. freed in him I want to open my hands to

  979. him if that's you then I'm going to ask

  980. you in a moment just to raise your hand

  981. so I and see it. If there's one, we're

  982. going to pray together. We're going to

  983. ask God to move in this house. Cuz

  984. nothing more important than one more for

  985. Jesus. So on my left, your right hand

  986. section, if that's you, say, "I need

  987. Jesus." I'm going to ask you, would you

  988. just raise your hand so I can see it? I

  989. want to be able to pray with you,

  990. believe with you, ask God to do

  991. something special in your life. Anybody

  992. in this section? I don't want to miss

  993. anybody.

  994. Awesome. What about the your left

  995. section, my right section? As I look

  996. out, anybody over here, you say, "That's

  997. me. I need Jesus. I need a relationship

  998. with him to rededicate my life to him.

  999. Come on. Nothing more important. I don't

1000. see any hands. Maybe you're at home.

1001. Maybe you'll listen to a podcast if

1002. that's you. Maybe you go home and you

1003. say, "I need to give my life. All you

1004. have to do is ask him, Lord, forgive me.

  1005. Make me new.

1006. I make you the Lord of my life. I repent

1007. of the past, of the sin of my life.

1008. I serve you forever." And in your own

1009. words, it doesn't have to sound like

1010. that. whatever it is, but just I need

1011. you. Forgive me. I repent. He welcomes

1012. you as a son or daughter. The number one

1013. thing we can do. And then we get to walk

1014. the journey that we've been just been

1015. talking about, plowing our heart. Lord,

1016. move in me. Get rid of things that don't

1017. line up with the word, which means we

1018. must be in the word of God. We must be.

1019. And we let him move.

1020. We open our hands more and more in every

1021. area of our life. and all of a sudden

  1022. anxiety and worry,

  1023. depression,

  1024. anger, stuff that I don't want.

1025. We give it to the Lord and say, "God,

  1026. you've got it. It's yours. I don't have

1027. to carry the weight. I don't have to

1028. carry the load anymore." And that's what

1029. he does. That's what disciplehip is. Is

1030. knowing him, trusting him, loving him

1031. more. And I want to encourage us as a

1032. church family today, not only to pray

1033. about what can I do, how can I be a

1034. part? Am I going to jump into the

1035. learner, the partner, the tither, the

  1036. kingdom builder level? I I don't know.

1037. Pray about that. But also, would you

1038. pray, Lord, is there any other area of

1039. my life that needs to be broken up? The

1040. fow ground needs to be broken up because

1041. he doesn't want to leave you where you

1042. were. He wants you to grow and to step

1043. into him and walk towards the things of

1044. his kingdom. He loves you so much. In

1045. fact, if you're able today, if you're

1046. able, if we could stand to our feet

1047. today, or those that can't just to put

1048. your heart in a position before the

1049. Lord, I want to pray a prayer of

1050. blessing over you today, church family.

1051. Our God is good and he loves you. He

1052. loves you. He loves you. So, Lord, this

1053. morning, I'm just thankful for this

1054. group, for this church, for the rad fam.

1055. Lord, I know many Lord, I know our

1056. desire is we want the to plow our

1057. hearts. We want hands open. We want to

1058. be united. And Lord, we don't want to

1059. just live, but we want the future

1060. changed because we walked in a room

1061. because our church was here in Dublin.

1062. We want the future changed, not because

1063. of us, but because you used us and we

1064. were just open to you. And so, Lord, I

1065. pray that every person in this room,

1066. Lord, would have the opportunity this

1067. week to take some time to plow their

1068. heart, to ask you, Lord, to move, to

1069. show yourself. Maybe it's an addiction

1070. or a problem or something we don't want.

  1071. Maybe it's a sin that's blatant, but

1072. we've just struggled with it. Lord, take

1073. those things by the power of your

1074. spirit. We pray Lord that the ground

1075. would be plowed, the hands would be

1076. open, and there would be unity with you

1077. and your spirit. Lord, even a

1078. supernatural release of things that

1079. should not be maybe that has been a

1080. struggle for a long time. Lord, we pray

1081. maybe those that struggle with their

1082. tongue or with anger or anxiety or

1083. worry, things that can be uh hurtful to

1084. themselves or to others, Lord. And we

1085. ask that you would let them be able to

1086. release that. Maybe their power, their

  1087. strength isn't enough, but Lord, it's

1088. you. It's your strength. It's your power

1089. that we rely on today. Lord, let us plow

1090. our hearts and Lord, would you work

1091. plant what should be there? We open our

1092. hands to you, Lord. Lord, as a church

1093. family, we ask you, Lord, that you would

1094. challenge us. We're thankful that last

1095. year we were able to serve and to see

1096. 100 plus people, Lord, give their lives

1097. to you. It's 32 people baptized in

1098. water. But Lord, we're asking for more

1099. in 2026. We open our hearts. We plow our

1100. hearts. We open our hands to you, Jesus.

  1101. Let us be united.

1102. And Lord, I pray that even when it comes

1103. to finances, Lord, you spoke so much,

1104. Lord. Would you help us, Lord, that all

1105. of us are in one of these categories,

1106. Lord? If we're learning, help us take a

1107. first step. Take a step that gets a

1108. little more consistent. If we're jumping

1109. into partner, maybe one or two or three

1110. or seven or eight or 9%, Lord, we're

1111. working towards the tithe. Maybe today,

  1112. Lord, we're we're going to believe,

1113. Lord, we're going to do it. We're going

1114. to start tithing. We're going to

  1115. continue that journey.

1116. Lord, we're going to maybe step up to

1117. kingdom builder going beyond. Lord, we

1118. ask you to let us know, challenge us,

1119. Lord. The faith you give, that's what

1120. we're going to step out in today, Lord,

1121. in every area of our lives, including

1122. the finances that you've blessed us

1123. with. Lord, we love you. We need you,

1124. Lord. Let our hearts be open to you. And

1125. Lord, we believe that the only the

1126. beginning is where we're at as the Rad

1127. fam. We may have been here for 46 years

1128. or so, but Lord, it's just the

1129. beginning. There's new things that you

1130. have. And as we're united in you, Lord,

1131. anything is possible and the future will

1132. be changed. And so, Lord, use your

1133. church. Use us. Our time, our talent,

1134. our treasure, every part of who we are.

1135. We give it to you. We offer it to you.

1136. Take us, mold us. Let us be who you've

1137. called us to be. We love you, Jesus.

1138. Speak to us this week. Speak to us

1139. through your word, through your spirit.

1140. Let us focus on you. We love you. In

1141. your name we pray. Amen. Amen. Come on,

1142. church. Our God is good this morning. I

1143. want to encourage you if you Yeah. Come

1144. on. God is good. Come on.

1145. If you didn't pick these up, I encourage

1146. you as you exit in the small hallways on

1147. the table, grab one of each. Uh you can

1148. take you can pray about uh in two weeks

1149. from today, we're going to come and

1150. we're going to bring these cards back

1151. and we're going to say, "Hey, Lord, I

1152. commit before you. I've chosen just like

1153. the people did. Uh I'm obligating

1154. myself. I'm choosing Lord. I'm going to

1155. do this before you just between God and

1156. you. But I believe God is going to do

  1157. something. Maybe a a first fruits

1158. offering. You say, "This is it. I'm

1159. going to come and bring that beginning

1160. of what God is going to do this year."

1161. So, two weeks. But let's continue to go

1162. after Jesus this week. I want to

1163. encourage you two things one more time.

  1164. Women's Gallentine's Friday night.

1181. things all over the place to be able to

1182. literally see with our eyes who we're

1183. praying for, what we're praying for. God

1184. is good. Radian life, I love you all.

1185. I'm so proud of you. Keep going after

1186. Jesus. Keep walking that journey with

1187. him this week. Be careful what you

1188. watch. Be careful what you listen to. Be

1189. careful what you talk about. Savor the

1190. presence of Jesus. Have a great week.
