  1. been walking through and as we've been

  2. talking through this and maybe you've

  3. done some study on your own or you're

  4. looking at it. The disciples are in a

  5. place where they were probably living

  6. high like things are great. Miracles are

  7. happening. Jesus is bringing people back

  8. from the dead, back to life, healing,

  9. restoring their bread, a few loaves and

  10. fish turn into food for 5,000. Another

  11. time for 4,000. Like it would have been

  12. something. Anybody you could have sat

  13. there and like what? This is awesome,

  14. right? That's what they were

  15. experiencing.

  16. Then Jesus tells them in chapter 13,

  17. "Hey guys, uh, I'm about to leave. I'm

  18. heading out and you're going to be

  19. left." So basically, I don't think he

  20. said good luck, but that's, you know,

  21. I'm sure they heard it that way. Good

  22. luck guys. I'm out of here. And

  23. everything changed in one moment where

  24. what they thought was going to happen,

  25. what they thought Jesus was going to do,

  26. all of a sudden came crashing down. And

  27. I could just imagine that instantly what

  28. they felt like they were fully connected

  29. to all of a sudden felt like broken,

  30. disconnected, like it was no longer what

  31. it should be. And I tell you, I think in

  32. my life and different situations or

  33. different seasons of life, I remember

  34. where boy, I I think I've walked a time

  35. or two where I got a little more

  36. disconnected or didn't understand what

  37. was happening. And generally in my life,

  38. I can trace it back and look and see

  39. that I have gotten out of the word. I've

  40. gotten out of this what God would have.

  41. I've maybe disconnected myself just

  42. because of laziness or because all of a

  43. sudden I just haven't been in the word

  44. or spent time in prayer like I once did.

  45. And all of a sudden I feel disconnected.

  46. But I also think there's times in our

  47. life where like the disciples, an event

  48. happens, something takes place and where

  49. I was yesterday all of a sudden feels

  50. quite different today. Maybe you've had

  51. a diagnosis or maybe a job lost or

  52. whatever it was and all of a sudden a a

  53. normal things seemed good going in a

  54. certain direction were gone just like

  55. that. And I believe that the word of the

  56. Lord today that we're going to read in

  57. John chapter 15 is Jesus

    John 15 chapter mention

  58. proclaiming to us, giving to us what it

  59. is that we need so that when life

  60. happens, we can stay connected to the

  61. vine. We can stay connected and not be

  62. separated from the things of God.

  63. But I also think there's a choice on the

  64. front end of my life of Lord, what do

  65. you want to do? Who do you want me to

  66. be? I pre-choose. I'm going to stay

  67. connected to Jesus no matter the

  68. circumstances, no matter the situations,

  69. no matter what comes around me. Had my

  70. daughter up here a few minutes ago and

  71. if uh you're newer to the church, we

  72. have five amazing children and uh I it's

  73. amazing. They're all now 11 to 18 years

  74. old as of this morning. And before we

  75. had our first child, Pastor Rachel and

  76. I, we sat together and in praying and

  77. thinking through saying, "No matter what

  78. happens, no matter the situation, we're

  79. going to trust the Lord. We're giving

  80. our kids to the Lord. We're going to

  81. dedicate them to the Lord." But that

  82. means we've got to trust our children to

  83. the Lord. If something happens we don't

  84. understand, we're going to trust the

  85. Lord. If parenting is hard, we're going

  86. to trust the Lord. If whatever it is,

  87. we're going to trust the Lord. I see

  88. some babies, a few in the room here

  89. today. There may be a day or two or

  90. three with a a baby in your house where

  91. you're like, "Lord Jesus, I can't make

  92. it one more day. If I don't get to

  93. sleep, maybe you're not like me, but I

  94. require sleep." So, I'm like, "Lord, I

  95. need sleep." It's like my biggest words

  96. of advice to parents are, "This too will

  97. pass. If it's a good season, it will

  98. pass. If it's a bad season, it will

  99. pass." Right? the seasons of parenting

  100. and we must be connected to the things

  101. of God and decide on the front end,

  102. Lord, I'm going to follow you. I'm going

  103. to trust you. I'm going to rely on you.

  104. I think Jesus gives us words of life

  105. here that can change us and mold us and

  106. set us up for the things to come as well

  107. as help us get connected and stay in

  108. what he would have for us. So this

  109. morning we're going to dive into John

    John 15 chapter mention

  110. chapter 15 verse one and then we'll jump

  111. to three and four and uh continue on. It

  112. says I am the true vine and my father is

  113. the vine dresser. Then three already you

  114. are clean because of the word that I

  115. have spoken to you. Abide in me and I in

  116. you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by

  117. itself unless it abides in the vine.

  118. Neither can you unless you abide in me.

  119. Now we'll come back to verse two. Don't

  120. worry, we're not going to skip it for

  121. long. But we see here that Jesus invites

  122. us to be partnered, to be connected, to

  123. be in tune with what God is doing in

  124. their lives. He opens. He's I am the

  125. true vine. What's he saying? Maybe we

  126. need a reminder today. Maybe we need to

  127. hear it today. He's saying, "I alone am

  128. the source of spiritual life. I alone

  129. give you strength. I alone can bear and

  130. help you bear fruit in your life.

  131. Everything else we try to dry life off

  132. of, joy off of, peace off of, in the end

  133. will not accomplish what we want it to

  134. accomplish. But when we walk in Jesus,

  135. he brings those things to us. And he

  136. says that God is the vine dresser. God

  137. is the one who intentionally, lovingly,

  138. he's involved in your life. He's

  139. involved in your situation. He's

  140. involved in every detail of your life

  141. and what you do. And I'm so thankful

  142. every time I read the word over and

  143. over, it says in one way or another this

  144. thing. It's not me. It's not my power.

  145. It's not my strength. And I'm thankful

  146. thankful for you all as well. It's not

  147. you. It's not your power. It's not your

  148. strength. But it's God. The one that is

  149. our vine dresser, the one that keeps us

  150. and prunes us and takes care of us. He's

  151. intentional in our life when we come and

  152. we let him move in us.

  153. Now, in verse verse number three, I love

  154. as we're just going and trying to

  155. understand what the Lord would have here

  156. and right from the beginning, right?

  157. He's the vine. And then in verse three,

  158. already you are clean because of the

  159. word that I have. And before we go on in

  160. this sermon and this service, I think

  161. it's vital to realize every day to

  162. remind ourselves and just how we are.

  163. Some of us need to remind ourselves

  164. more. Church, you today come in this

  165. place and if you're walking in the Lord,

  166. if you've given your life to the Lord,

  167. if you're just trying to serve the Lord

  168. and be connected to the Lord, church,

  169. you are clean in Jesus, he's purified

  170. you. He's made you whole. His grace is

  171. sufficient for you. that when we talk

  172. about anything else, it all comes back

  173. to Lord, I'm thankful that when I come

  174. into church this morning, I've given you

  175. my life. I am pure. I am whole. I am

  176. well. And not because of me, but because

  177. of Jesus who even while we were yet

  178. sinners, he came and he died for us and

  179. he defeated death, hell, and the grave.

  180. And so today, as we start this sermon,

  181. as we look into the word in John chapter

    John 15 chapter mention

  182. 15, if we're partnered with him, if

  183. we're connected to him, if we're walking

  184. and he's our Lord and Savior, church,

  185. you are clean. And if anything within

  186. you tells you anything else, it's a lie

  187. from the enemy that you can say today,

  188. no, I am clean before the Lord. I am

  189. pure before the Lord. And that is where

  190. we walk. And that is where we begin our

  191. relationship with Jesus is because of

  192. him. We're pure. We're clean. We're

  193. whole. We're right.

  194. We get to walk in him. And then he

  195. invites us that that that cleansing in

  196. us, that purification. In fact, that

  197. word actually means in the Greek

  198. purified, prepared, and positioned. So

  199. when we come before him, he doesn't just

  200. clean us, cover us, but he positions us

  201. and places us where he would have us.

  202. The father cares about you, loves you,

  203. has the greatest things for you. And

  204. Jesus then invites us to abide in him,

  205. which I think is pretty great, just the

  206. fact we can abide in him. But it doesn't

  207. stop there. It goes on. It says, "And he

  208. in us, he abides in us. We get to have

  209. the God of the universe

  210. in us." Then we don't do this alone.

  211. It's his strength. It's his power. And

  212. we just open our hearts to the one as we

  213. stay connected to him.

  214. As we partner with him, as we abide in

  215. him, something mighty happens within us.

  216. That word abide means to remain. It

  217. means to stay, to dwell, to continue.

  218. Church, I want you to know that we don't

  219. come and meet with Jesus on Sunday

  220. morning and then we go home and do our

  221. thing. But we are called to abide with

  222. him. I think Sunday morning, it's my

  223. favorite time of the whole week, I love

  224. it. I love worshiping Jesus. I love

  225. being with my church family, with people

  226. I love. But church, if all we do is come

  227. to church and worship him and then go

  228. and live our lives the rest of the week,

  229. we miss the whole point. We are called

  230. to abide. We are called to stay with

  231. him. We're called to be with him. We're

  232. called to to be in intimate connection

  233. with him.

  234. It's a all day every day sort of a

  235. situation.

  236. And if we are weak and empty inside,

  237. it's probably because we're not abiding.

  238. We're not staying in him. That maybe our

  239. walk with the Lord is more of a

  240. religious thing we do than the

  241. relationship he invites us to. And

  242. church, that's not what it's called to

  243. be. We are to know him, to abide in him,

  244. to be partnered with him.

  245. He's so good. He loves you. He loves

  246. you. We think of this partnering. It's

  247. the number one thing, Lord. We come, we

  248. partner, we lay our lives before you. I

  249. think a word maybe we use it even a

  250. little more. We submit oursel to you.

  251. Anything that you have, we're going to

  252. listen. We abide in Jesus. And you know

  253. what? When we abide, when we partner

  254. with him, you won't just survive, but

  255. you will thrive. You're going to

  256. experience him in new ways, exciting

  257. ways, and in ways that change who you

  258. are. That's what he offers to us this

  259. morning. So, we partner with him.

  260. Secondly, we get to see pruned. And

  261. we're going to go back to verse two and

  262. then also jump to verse five and six.

  263. And it says, "Every branch in me that

  264. does not bear fruit, he takes away. And

  265. every branch that does bear fruit, he

  266. prunes that it may bear more fruit. Then

  267. verse five, I am the vine. You are the

  268. branches. Whoever abides in me and I in

  269. him, he it is that bears much fruit. For

  270. apart from me, you can do nothing. If

  271. anyone does not abide in me, he is

  272. thrown away like a branch and withers

  273. and the branches are gathered, thrown

  274. into the fire, and burned. Now, we're

  275. going to come back to verse six. That

  276. seems pretty harsh. like woo this this

  277. is a big deal I think the point this is

  278. a big deal did you notice as we start

  279. there in verse two every branch of me

  280. that does not bear fruit he takes away

  281. and so let's let's just start there

  282. first

  283. when we walk with the Lord and we're

  284. partnered with the Lord and we're

  285. abiding in the Lord I think it shows it

  286. reveals as our life becomes green just

  287. think about a a plant a flower at your

  288. house you think about it and what's

  289. connected is green and vibrant and it

  290. rains and the sun and it looks better

  291. and better and what maybe got a cut in

  292. it or what is disconnected very quickly

  293. goes from green and alive to dead and no

  294. longer

  295. in fact it gets brittle you can just

  296. break them easily the branches and the

  297. things and you know I was thinking about

  298. my own life and uh no one would ever

  299. call Rachel or myself a green thumb in

  300. any way but who in here you you just you

  301. touch plants and they do well like they

  302. pro that you're gifted. Okay, there's a

  303. few. Look, Mike, I never would have

  304. guessed. Come on. He's like, that's me.

  305. There's like four of you in the room.

  306. There's got to be more. Yeah. Yeah,

  307. there's a few more right back there.

  308. Yep. Okay, let's go on the other side.

  309. Who you touch a plant, it just dies. You

  310. know, it's going to die. Yeah. Way more.

  311. Way more of us here. Uh

  312. at my house, if you ever come next to

  313. our garage on the right in between our

  314. garage and our porch, we now have this

  315. beautiful tree of some sort. It's

  316. probably destroying the foundation of my

  317. house. I don't know. But uh it is

  318. beautiful. But before that beautiful

  319. tree, we tried I think it was four times

  320. to grow a same sort of tree in the same

  321. exact location. And we planted this tree

  322. over and over. I mean a different one of

  323. course. And it would maybe survive for a

  324. year or maybe two years, maybe even

  325. three years. And then it would die. And

  326. every time I'm like, why? What have we

  327. done? I mean, no need to worry about

  328. probably doesn't didn't get enough light

  329. because of its location, nor did we

  330. water it or take care of it or do

  331. ANYTHING ELSE. BUT WHY DID IT DIE? IT

  332. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

  333. And you know what? When we would pull

  334. that thing out, you wouldn't even

  335. necessarily need to pull it out because

  336. somehow the roots were smaller now than

  337. when I put it in in the bigger pot that

  338. was there. I'm like, what has happened

  339. to this tree? Now, I blame my my dad,

  340. Pastor Dave, our founding pastor, was

  341. here the first service and uh he built

  342. our house when I was four years old

  343. actually and we've bought it from him

  344. and uh we love it. Kind of kind of cool

  345. growing up in our my the house I grew up

  346. in. But the land that we are on, it is

  347. the worst land. Like the the dirt, it is

  348. clay, it is horrible. And I have decided

  349. that we plant things and it goes to that

  350. clay. Once again, nothing to do with our

  351. watering or anything else that we do,

  352. but the ground is terrible and the the I

  353. the roots just won't grow. They're just

  354. not going to do it. And so, we tried

  355. four times and I would pull it out.

  356. Literally could just pull a tree out

  357. after a year or two. Not what's supposed

  358. to happen because it wasn't connected.

  359. It didn't grow. It didn't take root. And

  360. I don't know why, but the fifth time,

  361. the fifth time it worked. That thing

  362. won't die. I can prune it all the way

  363. back to a small thing, and it grows.

  364. Everything is good. But you know what?

  365. Over and over again, what wasn't

  366. connected in that spot died. What wasn't

  367. right died where all of a sudden it

  368. looked good. And then all of a sudden,

  369. not any longer. It died. And those

  370. things had to be removed because they

  371. weren't going to come back. They needed

  372. to be planted and put in the right place

  373. and taken care of a little bit. And

  374. Jesus, he's saying to us today that if

  375. it's dead, it's going to be removed. And

  376. did you know that there's things in your

  377. life, there's things in my life, I bet

  378. today that if we sit with the Lord, if

  379. we ask the Lord, he will reveal to us

  380. that just simply need to be thrown away.

  381. Like get rid of it. Some of you right

  382. now, you're like, "Oh, I know what they

  383. are." Some of you, you might need to sit

  384. with the Lord. We need to sit with the

  385. Lord and see, is there something in our

  386. life that just simply needs to be

  387. removed? It could be really clear and

  388. obvious like a sin, something that's in

  389. us, something that we're we're bound by

  390. or that that we just can't seem to get

  391. rid of, right? We need that thing pr

  392. gotten rid of from our life for sure.

  393. Maybe it's something that's not so

  394. obvious. It's not like a ten commandment

  395. sin, but that when we walk with the

  396. Lord, we realize that's no longer what

  397. God would have. It needs to be and is

  398. disconnected. And we get rid of it

  399. because who I was is not who I am now.

  400. And who I am now is not who God is going

  401. to have me be. So therefore, there's

  402. going to be areas I've got to get rid of

  403. that aren't bad. Maybe then, but now

  404. it's no longer beneficial and the Lord

  405. has something better for me and get rid

  406. of it. But you notice also that then it

  407. doesn't only talk about what needs to be

  408. thrown away, but the branch that does

  409. bear fruit, what does it say? He gives

  410. you cheers for and claps for. No, he

  411. says the the branch that does bear

  412. fruit, he prunes.

  413. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm

  414. like, Lord, this area is doing good.

  415. There's there's fruit growing. Why do

  416. you have to prune that area? Because I'm

  417. just going to go back to that tree. When

  418. I prune the tree, I I hope God's

  419. clippers are are better than mine. But

  420. when I prune the tree, I'm like trying

  421. to get the branch to cut because I need

  422. better clippers. God, I think he's a

  423. little bit better than that.

  424. But the good part of the tree, if we

  425. want and you want your fruit tree to

  426. bear fruit, you cut off parts that are

  427. green that are good because you're

  428. thinking of the future and you're

  429. thinking of what's better and you don't

  430. want only a good part, but you want the

  431. best part. And therefore, you've got to

  432. make it the right shape and the right

  433. size and the right uh thing to be able

  434. to produce the best. And in your life,

  435. there are areas where good things are

  436. happening that Jesus is going to come

  437. and over time, he's going to say, "Hey,

  438. this is good, but there's a pruning that

  439. needs to happen.

  440. And we might be like, "Lord, things are

  441. good. Why you got to touch that? Anybody

  442. ever been like that with the Lord?"

  443. Like, "That's not bad. This is actually

  444. good." And he's like, "Snip." You're

  445. like, "Ah, it hurts." Sometimes pruning

  446. hurts.

  447. But pruning sets us up not for where we

  448. are, but it sets us up for where God has

  449. us to go. And sometimes even the good

  450. things within us, he prunes. Not only

  451. what's disconnected, but the things even

  452. bearing fruit, he prunes. This pruning

  453. is a cleansing. It's a refining. It's a

  454. coming a cutting back. Or, you know,

  455. when we really think about it, it's

  456. removing what's going to hinder us from

  457. what he sees and where we're going to

  458. be. Maybe in the moment, I don't even

  459. understand, but he sees where I am

  460. going.

  461. Pruning is also proof of the father's

  462. nearness. He prunes what he cares for.

  463. He tends for what he values and shapes

  464. what he intends to use. Do you know that

  465. sometimes in our life and our spiritual

  466. walk in our church family there's things

  467. in prune not not because they're not

  468. working but maybe because of what God

  469. has in the future there's going to be

  470. changes on this side that prepare me and

  471. I might not understand but in a year or

  472. three or five I might say Lord thank you

  473. so much that what I thought was so

  474. valuable actually wouldn't have been

  475. helpful long term the Lord moves within

  476. us he prunes what he values he is

  477. showing his nearness as we continue to

  478. open our hands to him. Lord, you show

  479. me. You do your work. Purify me for what

  480. you have for the future.

  481. And pruning, I think, so often feels

  482. like subtraction. But in the kingdom,

  483. subtraction oftent time leads to

  484. multiplication. God cuts away lesser

  485. things to make room for greater things.

  486. And we must understand that we have to

  487. be people that are submitted to the Lord

  488. where we say, "Lord, get rid of the dead

  489. stuff, but also even what seems right

  490. and seems good. You prune anything you

  491. want because Lord, I want to be all that

  492. you've called me to be." And your vision

  493. of what I'm supposed to do, church, I

  494. want you to hear. His vision of what

  495. you're supposed to do is bigger than

  496. what you can think or dream or imagine.

  497. He's got big plans for you. and don't

  498. sit in where you are and just be

  499. comfortable but let his let him prune

  500. let him lead and guide you know I think

  501. so often

  502. we are oftent times and talking to

  503. people counseling and leading people

  504. sometimes even in the messes of our life

  505. we're comfortable in those we're

  506. comfortable where we are even if it's

  507. not the best where we know what it is

  508. and we can get in a place in our

  509. spiritual walk where it's good It it's

  510. it's good, but God has so much more. But

  511. I'm comfortable here. And when I start

  512. to ask the Lord, Lord, prune anything,

  513. expand any area, build my faith, let me

  514. believe for more. All of a sudden, I'm

  515. opening myself up that what my

  516. comfortable life, my spiritual walk

  517. might get a little uncomfortable.

  518. But you know where we grow? We grow when

  519. we're uncomfortable. We grow when we've

  520. got to take a step of faith. We grow

  521. when we say, "Lord, I can't do it on

  522. myself." And he says, "I've got you

  523. right where I want you." Because if you

  524. could do it on your own,

  525. do we need him? Are we really trusting

  526. him? Are we really relying on him? Let

  527. him prune away in your life and watch

  528. new growth happen. Stay surrendered.

  529. Pruning is how the father positions you

  530. to thrive. Walk in him, trust in him,

  531. and watch him position you for what's

  532. ahead.

  533. Jumping on to uh verse 7 here as we

  534. finish out these scriptures today of

  535. verse or through 11. If you had known

  536. me, you would have known my father also.

  537. From now on, you do know him and have

  538. seen Oops. I'm sorry. I'm in the wrong

  539. chapter. I did that a few weeks ago. I

  540. don't know. There we go. 15. Here we go.

  541. If you abide in me and my words abide in

  542. you, ask whatever you wish and it will

  543. be done for you. By this my father is

  544. glorified that you bear much fruit, so

  545. prove to be my disciples. As the Father

  546. has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide

  547. in me, my love. If you keep my

  548. commandments, you abide in my love. Just

  549. as I have kept my father's commandments

  550. and abide in his love. These things I

  551. have spoken to you that my joy may be in

  552. you and that your joy may be full. We

  553. partner with him. We abide in him. He

  554. prunes us, creates us, makes us what

  555. we're going to be and who he has called

  556. us to be. And then over and over and

  557. over in the word, our faith, our walk

  558. with the Lord, who we are in him, it

  559. leads us to a place where we're

  560. producing, where we're bearing fruit,

  561. where a life isn't just about surviving,

  562. but it's about thriving and making a

  563. difference in our world.

  564. if you abide in me and my words in you.

  565. It shows that faithfulness starts with

  566. staying rooted in relationship. Church,

  567. we must let the word of God be real to

  568. us. We must let the word of God shine in

  569. our life above anything else.

  570. When we let the word become real, all of

  571. a sudden we can experience and get

  572. through anything and and walk to the

  573. other side. And no matter the situation,

  574. his word will sustain us, will mold us.

  575. We can produce. We're going to follow

  576. his word. He over and over in this

  577. section in 14 and 15, we see that he

  578. says, "If you love me, you obey my

  579. commandments." And something happens

  580. within us when we begin to love the Lord

  581. so much. That just a natural overflow of

  582. our life is doing what he's called us to

  583. do. is changing our mindset from Lord,

  584. if I just try one more time. If I just

  585. do it one more time, I can do it. It's a

  586. striving thing to a Lord, I love you so

  587. much. I'm abiding in you so much. I just

  588. spend time with you that what I used to

  589. do, I don't want to do anymore. Sin in

  590. my life, I don't want to do anymore.

  591. Things that weren't sin, but they're not

  592. the best, I don't want to do them

  593. anymore. I want to be pruned because I

  594. want to experience you and your love one

  595. more time. And I begin to follow him,

  596. and I love better. and I keep his

  597. commandments which is means I'm going to

  598. love him. I'm going to love my neighbor.

  599. I'm going to walk in his power and fruit

  600. is going to be something that comes from

  601. my life meaning visible evidence an

  602. outward expression.

  603. There's going to be spiritual results as

  604. we walk with the Lord and love him and

  605. know with him and abide in him and let

  606. him prune even the good things so the

  607. best things can take hold in our life.

  608. I mentioned verse six. In verse six, if

  609. we jump back there, if anyone does not

  610. abide in me, he is thrown away like a

  611. branch and withers and the branches are

  612. gathered, thrown into the fire and

  613. burned. And church, I don't want that. I

  614. don't want that for me and I don't want

  615. that for you. This isn't talking about

  616. the parts like we can miss out on what

  617. God is doing entirely. Church, I want to

  618. be connected to the vine that he's

  619. pruning and he's guiding. He's getting

  620. rid of the the dead parts in me. He's

  621. pruning even good things that I never

  622. find myself and that we never find

  623. ourselves in a place where we're being

  624. pushed aside. Not because of his love

  625. that he doesn't love us, but because we

  626. won't receive what he has for us.

  627. Church, we get to produce in the father.

  628. And his love is just a natural overflow

  629. of being connected, of being pruned, of

  630. being partnered with the things of God.

  631. Church, we have the opportunity to make

  632. a difference in our world, to love

  633. people well, to pour his grace and his

  634. mercy on people around us. But church,

  635. it's not about us. It's about saying,

  636. "Jesus, help us be connected. Help us

  637. know you. Help us love you more." And

  638. once again, not because of us, but Lord,

  639. because we just stay connected and in

  640. tune with what you are doing.

  641. We must be in his word. We must let his

  642. spirit lead us. Last week, we talked

  643. about the helper. We can't live without.

  644. We need the spirit in our life guiding

  645. our next step.

  646. And we may not know five years or 10

  647. years down the road, but Lord, would you

  648. show me what I need to do next? Would

  649. you show me what the next step is? You

  650. know what? When job opportunities come,

  651. when family issues arrive, when whatever

  652. the things of life may be, the question

  653. is, are we turning to God? Because we're

  654. abiding in him and we're just asking

  655. him, Lord, what do you have for me?

  656. That's the kind of relationship he wants

  657. is just a we're with him. You know him.

  658. So, we spend time with him. And you

  659. know, as I've been thinking this week,

  660. as I've been praying this week, I I feel

  661. like sometimes we try to over complicate

  662. what we're supposed to do and how we're

  663. supposed to connect with him. And my

  664. challenge for us, and in a few minutes,

  665. we're going to have a a closing song and

  666. we're going to maybe come to the altars

  667. and we're going to prayer teams and

  668. we're going to pray and maybe he'll

  669. speak to you in that moment. But I

  670. believe that some people this week need

  671. to sit with the Lord and maybe this

  672. would be new for you. And I encourage

  673. you, you get your Bible. Maybe you I

  674. mean, you could ask Google, "What are

  675. some encouraging scripture on whatever

  676. you're thinking of?" And you could ask

  677. and you can read the word. Let the word

  678. become real to you. And you sit maybe

  679. you turn on a worship song. Maybe you

  680. just talk to the Lord. Maybe you then

  681. turn that worship song off and you say,

  682. "Lord, would you reveal to me what you

  683. want to prune out of my life?" Maybe

  684. start, "Lord, would you show me the dead

  685. things that need to be gone?" And you

  686. know what? before and after a time

  687. sitting with the Lord or you do that

  688. consistently, maybe in a week or two or

  689. three, you will realize things in your

  690. life that you thought were normal and

  691. what God wanted and you'll realize, oh,

  692. those aren't actually what God does

  693. want. And you will keep walking with him

  694. and you'll realize you give those things

  695. to him and he prunes them out, the

  696. things you thought were good might

  697. actually be what is dampening joy and

  698. peace in your life.

  699. Because all of a sudden you say, 'Lord,

  700. I need you. And the need for God

  701. overrides anything else.

  702. When we were youth pastors, Pastor

  703. Rachel and I, there was a a young lady

  704. that she was a part of our our group and

  705. she struggled with feeling like and

  706. thinking that people were coming and

  707. people were like going to abduct her,

  708. come to her house, felt that there were

  709. always people around her home and

  710. different things. And it was it was

  711. looked at there weren't people. And so

  712. as we were talking just thinking of you

  713. know spiritual attack and some of those

  714. elements started to ask hey what what

  715. shows do you watch like what do you put

  716. in you and found out that this young

  717. lady they weren't bad shows they were

  718. fine but they were all about people

  719. abducting and like CIS and cop or cop

  720. things and people doing terrible things

  721. and I was like hey I've got a an idea

  722. maybe these shows they're not bad but

  723. they are not giving giving you life.

  724. They're not giving you peace. And why

  725. don't you just cut those out? Like,

  726. don't watch that stuff anymore. Don't

  727. put into your mind the things you're

  728. struggling. But, but remove those.

  729. Maybe I don't know. I think this is a

  730. pretty consistent one, but if the news

  731. doesn't bring you life, maybe you just

  732. cut that out a little bit. At least some

  733. of it. You know, maybe you're like, I

  734. have to know the news. I bet 15 minutes

  735. of the news would get it all covered for

  736. you. You like a week or a month,

  737. probably. Maybe a day. 15 minutes, watch

  738. the first segment of whoever your

  739. favorite person is. Great. But then move

  740. on. Cut some stuff out and you'll

  741. realize, oh, you know what? I have way

  742. less anxiety when I don't watch this,

  743. when I don't participate in this. God

  744. will literally show you over time. What

  745. brings life? And can I encourage you

  746. something? Do the things that bring life

  747. through Jesus and cut out the stuff that

  748. lets anything else in your life. And it

  749. doesn't have to be some horrible show.

  750. It's not about all this is garbage and

  751. trash, but is it bringing life to you?

  752. And I find it amazing that in this room,

  753. someone's favorite show that might not

  754. be a problem for them for somebody else

  755. in this room would be detrimental to

  756. their spiritual walk and to their mind

  757. and to their joy. And I don't care if

  758. you watch one show and you watch it. I

  759. don't care. But why would we put stuff

  760. in us

  761. that's removing us and pulling us away

  762. from the power of God? And it's not a TV

  763. only. That's an easy one. But you know

  764. what? If when you get together with your

  765. extended family and all of a sudden

  766. there's no peace, you can't cut your

  767. family out. But maybe you let the Lord

  768. speak to you and you don't have to be

  769. the one that has the final word or even

  770. any word. And you can just sit and just

  771. be joyful. You can be peaceful in the

  772. middle of a storm. And I guarantee you

  773. that if you do that and if that wasn't

  774. your norm that over time your family

  775. would be like, "What happened to you?"

  776. And you know what? God will use you

  777. right in the middle of something. And

  778. what was so disunifying could now be a

  779. peaceful time. And even if the storm all

  780. around you, you just sitting in the

  781. goodness of God wherever you are. But

  782. church, it takes more than just wanting

  783. it. It takes sitting with Jesus and

  784. asking, "Lord, would you heal me? Would

  785. you restore me? Lord, would you give me

  786. peace? Lord, would you show me what

  787. needs pruned? What needs cut out?" And

  788. he'll do it. In whatever area of your

  789. life, sit with the Lord. Ask him. get in

  790. his word, do some study, and watch him

  791. reveal to you. You know what? I don't

  792. need that.

  793. I tell my wife periodically on social

  794. media, I'm like, "Hey, I'm just

  795. wondering, does that person give you joy

  796. and peace in your life or not?" Like,

  797. "Well, no." I'm like, "Mute them. Just

  798. mute them. You don't have to unfriend

  799. them. Just mute them. You don't see

  800. their stuff anymore." Sometimes we don't

  801. need to be in other people's stuff. and

  802. we let the Lord heal us and restore us

  803. and give us peace where we can then love

  804. those people and love in every situation

  805. in every season. Worship team, if you

  806. come on back up here this morning, we're

  807. going to close just with an opportunity

  808. to say, "Lord, I want and need I want to

  809. bear fruit. It's what you've called us

  810. to do. And Lord, I need pruned in my

  811. life. And Lord, I need to partner with

  812. you." And first today, if you're here

  813. and you say, "I've never made Jesus the

  814. Lord of my life." There's nothing

  815. better. That's why we are here as a

  816. church family. In a moment, I'm going to

  817. give you the opportunity to say, "Hey, I

  818. want Jesus. I need a relationship with

  819. him. I want to partner with him." Then

  820. my prayer is that every person in this

  821. room would say, "Lord, the partnership

  822. is there. And Lord, I need you to come."

  823. And would you prune my heart?

  824. Would you get rid of what's dead and

  825. disconnected, Lord? And would you prune

  826. even the good stuff because Lord, I

  827. don't want to stay where I am today. I

  828. might have a relationship and things

  829. might be pretty good, but Lord, there's

  830. more that you have. And so, Lord, I open

  831. my heart and would you prune me? And if

  832. that means my news intake or my TV

  833. intake or my family and how I relate and

  834. how I speak or my job, what I allow in

  835. me instead of bringing the joy of the

  836. Lord, whatever it is, Lord, I'm going to

  837. walk in you. And the word of God said in

  838. verse 11, it says, "These things I have

  839. spoken to you that my joy may be in you

  840. and that your joy may be full." And

  841. church, when we are partnered with the

  842. Lord and he prunes us and he gets us to

  843. a place we're producing in him, life is

  844. joyful, we should walk in the joy of the

  845. Lord. And not every season's easy, but

  846. church, I believe that we can walk in

  847. the joy of the Lord even in the middle

  848. of hardship

  849. because we're looking at Jesus.

  850. Now, we might be grieving inside, but

  851. Lord Jesus, you're so good. I'm going to

  852. walk in your joy even in the midst

  853. because I'm staying connected to the

  854. vine. If we could stand all over this

  855. room this morning.

  856. And if you're here today and you say,

  857. you know what, I've never given my life

  858. to Jesus. Or maybe today you need to

  859. rededicate your life and say, God, I

  860. give you my heart. I give you my life. I

  861. offer you every part of who I am.

  862. Then I want to invite you just to say

  863. yes to him. The Bible says that he

  864. stands at the door of your heart and he

  865. knocks. He's waiting. He's saying, "Hey,

  866. I love you. I love you. I want the best

  867. for you. And if you're not walking in

  868. relationship, I invite you to come

  869. become a child of the most high partner

  870. with the God of the universe and watch

  871. what he will do in your life." And in

  872. fact, if you're here, I'm going to count

  873. to three. And if you say, "That's me. I

  874. want to make Jesus the Lord of my life."

  875. I'm going to invite you just to raise

  876. your hand and say that's me and we're

  877. going to pray together. We're going to

  878. celebrate and cheer cuz that's what it's

  879. all about. Then we're going to pray.

  880. We're going to go. WE'RE GOING TO SAY,

  881. "GOD, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO? HOW DO YOU

  882. WANT to prune?" But this is the most

  883. important thing. If you say, "I need

  884. Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I want

  885. to repent. Give him all of me." The

  886. count of three, would you raise your

  887. hand? One,

  888. two,

  889. three. all over this room. Is there

  890. somebody or a bunch that would say,

  891. "That's me. I want to make Jesus the

  892. Lord of my life." Anybody in this room?

  893. I don't want to miss anybody. The most

  894. important thing that we could possibly

  895. do.

  896. Maybe you're at home today or podcast

  897. later on. All you have to do, church, is

  898. just call out, "Lord, forgive me of my

  899. sins. I make you the Lord. I repent. I'm

  900. going to follow you the rest of my

  901. life." And he welcomes you as a son or

  902. daughter. It's the best thing you could

  903. possibly do. Most of us in this room,

  904. we've already done it. We're like,

  905. "Jesus, move in our life." And we want

  906. you to join in on the party.

  907. But now, for everybody in the room, I

  908. invite us, let's take the next five

  909. minutes or so, partner with Jesus. Ask

  910. him, "Is there anything in my life?"

  911. Maybe you need to commit to a a time of

  912. sitting with Jesus. Maybe every day, it

  913. just taken 5, 10, 15 minutes. Get start

  914. somewhere to sit with Jesus. Read his

  915. word, but also let him speak to you.

  916. What's he speaking?

  917. Right now, if our prayer team could come

  918. to the front, we're going to close this

  919. time by asking the Lord, do what? Today

  920. is your day. Maybe you just need him to

  921. reveal himself in power and might to do

  922. something new in you, to prune an area

  923. of your life. Come and let's watch him

  924. restore and make new. Whatever it is,

  925. maybe you come and join a group or maybe

  926. you come and you just need to spend some

  927. time at an altar or come to the front.

  928. Sometimes a new position opens us up for

  929. all that God has in a new way. But we're

  930. going to close the last five minutes of

  931. our time. Lord, do whatever you want to

  932. do and let's watch him. Let's watch him

  933. do something special. So right now, we

  934. just ask you in this place, let our

  935. faith arise, Jesus, Lord, that we won't

  936. just come to a front or sit in our seat,

  937. but Lord, we're going to let you move

  938. within us, prune us, make us new today.

  939. We want to be partnered with the God of

  940. the universe so we can leave here even

  941. more prepared to produce and to bear

  942. fruit to obey your commandments as

  943. you've called us to do. So Lord,

  944. challenge us, mold us, make us. We

  945. submit ourselves to the word of God, to

  946. what you're doing. We thank you that our

  947. faith arise today. Come, let's pray. If

  948. you need prayer or join a team, you can

  949. find a place in an altar. Make your

  950. chair an altar today.

  951. caught up in your presence.

  952. I just want to sit here at your feet.

  953. I'm caught up in this holy

  954. moment.

  955. and never leave.

  956. I'm not here for blessings.

  957. Jesus, you don't owe me anything

  958. more than anything

  959. that you can do.

  960. I just want you.

  961. I'm sorry

  962. when I've just gone through the motions.

  963. I'm sorry.

  964. And I just sang another song. Take me

  965. back to where we start.

  966. I open up my heart to you.

  967. >> I'm sorry.

  968. could have come with my

  969. I'm sorry,

  970. but I forgot that you're enough. Take me

  971. back to where we start.

  972. I open up my heart to you.

  973. >> Sing, I'm caught up in your presence.

  974. I'm caught up in your presence.

  975. I just want to sit here at your feet.

  976. Caught up in this holy

  977. moment.

  978. >> And I never want to leave.

  979. >> I'm not here for blessings.

  980. Oh, I'm not here for blessings.

  981. Oh

  982. Jesus, you don't owe me anything

  983. more than anything

  984. that you can do.

  985. I just want you.

  986. I just want you

  987. and nothing else.

  988. Nothing else.

  989. Nothing else will do.

  990. I just want you.

  991. Nothing else.

  992. Nothing else will do.

  993. I just want you.

  994. Nothing else.

  995. I just want you.

  996. Nothing else.

  997. Nothing else will do.

  998. I just want you.

  999. Nothing else. Heat.

  1000. Heat.

  1001. Nothing else.

  1002. We just want you.

1003. >> We just want you.

  1004. >> You're all we need.

  1005. We love you, Lord.

1006. >> We just want you.

  1007. We just want you.

  1008. >> We don't need anything else.

1009. >> Caught up in your presence.

1010. >> I just want to sit here at your feet.

1011. I'm caught up in this holy

  1012. moment

  1013. >> and I never want

  1014. >> I'm not here for blessings.

1015. >> Oh, I'm not here for blessings.

  1016. >> No,

1017. Jesus, you don't owe me anything.

  1018. and more than anything

  1019. that you can do.

  1020. I just want you.

1021. >> Come on, church. That's our prayer

1022. today. We just need Jesus.

1023. I want to encourage you this week. Stay

1024. connected, partnered with Jesus. He's

1025. got your next step. But don't just walk.

1026. Don't just know of him. Let him prune

1027. and make new and make newness in your

  1028. life that changes everything.

1029. Let's have that goal. Next year when we

1030. look back at this year, we say, "Wow,

1031. look at what God has done. Look at how

1032. he's moved cuz he pruned. He took care.

1033. He showed us. He revealed his way." And

1034. we just had enough smarts to just say,

1035. "Yes, Lord. I'm going to take the next

1036. step. Let's walk in him." And this week,

1037. let's produce fruit. Let's take the love

1038. of Jesus to our world. So Lord, one more

1039. time, we just thank you for your word.

1040. Lord, let your word be real to us. It

1041. builds faith. It is all that we need.

1042. And Lord, let us love it. Let us devour

1043. it. Let us get in it every day, God. Let

1044. us spend time just sitting with you. And

1045. Lord, I pray once again that that

1046. pruning that we would just spend time

1047. sitting in your presence. We'd spend

1048. time asking you, Lord, what do you want

1049. to do? What do you want to take away?

1050. What do you want to remove? What do you

1051. want to give, Lord? and let us actually

1052. listen for what you want to say so we

1053. can look more like you tomorrow than we

1054. do today. We thank you. We praise you.

1055. And we worship you, Jesus. You're so

  1056. good.

1057. You're so powerful. We love you. We love

1058. you. We love you. We love you, Jesus.

1059. Let's give him praise one more time this

1060. morning, church. We thank you, Lord.

  1061. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

1062. Thank you, Lord Jesus. You're so good.

1063. Come on. Our God is good. And I want to

1064. say thank you for being here this

1065. morning. Want to remind you all of our

  1066. team life volunteers. March 20th, I'm

1067. praying everybody you can come. In fact,

1068. if you're not on a team yet, we believe

1069. that this is the greatest way to get

1070. connected to have a group of people to

1071. take those small disciplehip journey

1072. steps together as we serve and as we

1073. receive from the Lord. And we'd invite

1074. you March 20th, come out, anybody, but

1075. if you're a team, we need you there. If

1076. you're on a team, we need you to be a

1077. part. But then we invite everybody else.

1078. Join us 6:30 on March 20th. You can sign

1079. up at radiant.family through the church

1080. center. Let us know. Sign up your kids,

1081. child care, all those things. It's going

1082. to be a night of vision celebration. And

1083. believe in God for the next steps of

1084. what he has. But we're thankful for you.

1085. We love you all. This week, Radiant

1086. Life, be careful what you watch. Be

1087. careful what you listen to. Be careful

1088. what you talk about. Savor the presence

1089. of Jesus. See you again next week.
