  1. Well, this morning I am excited. I'm

  2. always pumped to preach. I love getting

  3. in the word of God. And today we are

  4. going to jump ahead a few chapters from

  5. where we've been in John chapter 15 to

    John 15 chapter mention

  6. John chapter 19. Now, if you like things

    John 19 chapter mention

  7. systematically done and you want to go

  8. through the rest, just wait. In the next

  9. couple months, we'll go back and we will

  10. go and we'll hit 16 and 17 and 18. We'll

  11. be uh getting there. But first here for

  12. the next few weeks, we're going to look

  13. at this road to resurrection. We're

  14. going to look at Jesus, what he did, who

  15. he is. We're going to look at at the the

  16. pain truly, the suffering that he went

  17. through for us. We believe with all our

  18. heart that next week and the following

  19. week, people are going to come and

  20. respond to Jesus and say yes to Jesus

  21. because of his word and the power of his

  22. word. That is what it is all about. And

  23. so I want to start this morning just by

  24. reading John 19:es 1-15. It's a little

  25. bit lengthy and you can follow along or

  26. get your your Bible or pull your phone

  27. up uh in case you wonder. Every once in

  28. a while people ask me and I use the

  29. English Standard Version, the ESV

  30. version, uh the best version. I'm just

  31. kidding. Whatever version you want,

  32. doesn't matter. But if you're following

  33. along on a phone and you ever want to

  34. jump into it, ESV will get it to be the

  35. same as what I have. But John or 19 1-15

  36. says, "Then Pilate took Jesus and fgged

  37. him, and the soldiers twisted together a

  38. crown of thorns and put it on his head

  39. and arrated him in a purple robe." They

  40. came up to him, saying, "Hail, King of

  41. the Jews," and struck him with their

  42. hands. Pilate went out again and said to

  43. them, "See, I am bringing him out to you

  44. that you may know that I find no guilt

  45. in him." So Jesus came out wearing the

  46. crown of thorns and the purple robe.

  47. Pilate said to them, "Behold the man."

  48. When the chief priests and the officers

  49. saw him, they cried out, "Crucify him!

  50. Crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Take

  51. him yourselves and crucify him, for I

  52. find no guilt in him." The Jews answered

  53. him, "We have a law, and according to

  54. that law, he ought to die because he has

  55. made himself the son of God."

  56. When Pilate heard this statement, he was

  57. even more afraid. He entered his

  58. headquarters again and said to Jesus,

  59. "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave him

  60. no answer. So Pilate said to him, "You

  61. will not speak to me. Do you not know

  62. that I have authority to release you and

  63. authority to crucify you?" Jesus

  64. answered him, "You would have no

  65. authority over me at all unless it had

  66. been given you from above. Therefore, he

  67. who delivered me over to you has the

  68. greater sin. From then on, Pilate sought

  69. to release him. But the Jews cried out,

  70. "If you release this man, you are not

  71. Caesar's friend." Everyone who makes

  72. himself a king opposes Caesar. So when

  73. Pilate heard these words, he brought

  74. Jesus out and sat down on the judgment

  75. seat at a place called the stone

  76. pavement and in Aramic

  77. Gabbatha. Now it was the day of

  78. preparation of the Passover. It was

  79. about the sixth hour. He said to the

  80. Jews, "Behold your king." They cried

  81. out, "Away with him! Away with him!

  82. Crucify him!" Pilate said to him or

  83. them, "shall I crucify your king?" The

  84. chief priest answered, "We have no king

  85. but Caesar." So he delivered him over to

  86. them to be crucified.

  87. Now when I read this passage of

  88. scripture, first of all, I find it

  89. absolutely amazing that as we went over

  90. and over and over, Pilate continually

  91. said,"I find no guilt. I s find no

  92. fault. He didn't do anything wrong. Why

  93. would you want to crucify him?"

  94. Basically, it makes no sense. Why would

  95. you do this to this innocent

  96. man? But I also see a man who was

  97. struggling with what he believed versus

  98. what the people were saying, what he was

  99. experiencing and what he saw in Jesus

  100. and what the people were speaking over

  101. his life and what this people were

  102. saying. There was this inner struggle,

  103. this inner turmoil of should I do what I

  104. know is right versus should I do what

  105. the people are saying? Should I do even

  106. what is right or maybe what they're

  107. saying, the law or what Caesar would

  108. want? Should I do what I know in my

  109. heart is everything or should I do what

  110. might end up being the easier thing to

  111. do? Now, yesterday, uh I don't know

  112. about anybody else, but I hope you got

  113. to be outside at least some. At least

  114. walk outside. It was so beautiful. Today

  115. is also going to be beautiful. In fact,

  116. it's going to be almost hot today, which

  117. I can say, "Praise Jesus. I'm all here

  118. for it. Get me those 80s. Let's make it

  119. happen." But real fast, tomorrow it's in

  120. the 40s. So, just in case, don't get too

  121. excited cuz it's coming back. But, you

  122. know, that's how it is here in the

  123. spring in Ohio. But Jordan, my my oldest

  124. son, he he loves golf. He loves to play

  125. golf. I have realized quickly, which I

  126. am a I love golf, but I haven't played a

  127. lot recently. Golf is a terrible sport

  128. to get your kids into because it's

  129. expensive. You don't just go and play

  130. for free, right? But I was like, let's

  131. go. We're going to go do it. We're going

  132. to go play golf. And I have decided in

  133. my heart, in my heart of hearts, that I

  134. am going to when I go play golf,

  135. hopefully with anybody at this stage of

  136. my life, not let the frustration of golf

  137. show in my life. That's my goal. Okay.

  138. Now, some of you are like, "Yes, he's

  139. going to tell a story that he blew it."

  140. But I didn't yesterday. I'm very, very

  141. thankful for that. But I want to tell

  142. you something. The only way you make it

  143. through a round of golf without wanting

  144. to break a club or throw a club or at

  145. least make some noise THAT YOU KNOW AH

  146. LIKE WHATEVER IT IS church is you have

  147. to decide before you go I'm just going

  148. to hit the ball and whatever happens

  149. happens and it might still be difficult

  150. but you have to decide it is a

  151. pre-decision in your life that when you

  152. go play golf you are going to stay cool

  153. calm and collected no matter whether the

  154. golf ball is going where you want it to

  155. go or not. And especially if you're like

  156. myself or my son, I'll tell you what, we

  157. want to win. We want everything to be

  158. good. We're doing it, so we should be

  159. good at it. That's just what our view

  160. would be and natural. Like that's where

  161. we're at. So I had some good golf shots

  162. yesterday and one specific golf shot. We

  163. were coming towards the end. I had

  164. worked out that morning. I'm going to

  165. use that as an excuse. I was tired and I

  166. almost missed the ball, but we I my ball

  167. made it just past the lady's tease, so I

  168. felt good about that. Not really. It was

  169. rough. It was really, really rough. But

  170. I want you to know I This is one of

  171. those times. Normally I tell myself the

  172. other direction. I got my club and I put

  173. it in the cart and I sat down and said,

  174. "Well, there it is. It is what it is."

  175. Why? Cuz I decided there's no way in

  176. front of my son I'm going to go and do

  177. anything but that. Now, once again, it

  178. might go a different day. And when it

  179. does, I'll give you another story of the

  180. other side because I try to be real with

  181. everybody. But it's a predecision of our

  182. behavior, of our action, of our belief,

  183. of what we're going to do, of what is

  184. important. And I'll tell you what,

  185. yesterday was important hanging out with

  186. my son. It was important being in God's

  187. creation. It was important having

  188. perfect weather. That's what was

  189. important. And if I got every shot like

  190. I wanted it to,

  191. didn't truly matter.

  192. When I think about life and I think

  193. about this story here with Pilate, I

  194. think of someone who he knew in his

  195. heart what was right. He knew what he

  196. should do, but he struggled mightily to

  197. do what he knew was right. And as we

  198. look through this this morning, I think

  199. the challenge for us is, have we

  200. predecided? Have you predecided on the

  201. things in your life that are important

  202. that no matter what happens and no

  203. matter what difficulty may come that

  204. you're going to keep pushing forward?

  205. You're going to keep moving in Jesus. In

  206. fact, you're going to do your best as we

  207. read about a few weeks ago and studied

  208. that you're going to do your best to

  209. even walk in the joy of the Lord even

  210. when life is hard. Not because it's fun

  211. and happy all the time, but because

  212. Lord, I've pre-chosen. I'm going to

  213. serve you. I'm going to honor you. I'm

  214. going to walk in you. I'm going to do

  215. what you've called me to do. And I

  216. believe today that God wants to

  217. challenge us.

  218. He wants to challenge us to have our

  219. allegiance only to one, to only bow to

  220. one King of Kings and one Lord of Lords

  221. and not let anything else rise to that

  222. level.

  223. And it's a constant battle, a constant

  224. struggle of course, but it's also a

  225. predecision of Lord, you are everything.

  226. I give you my life. I give you my

  227. future, a hard one. I give you my

  228. family. They're they're yours. I'm going

  229. to lead them and serve them as well as I

  230. can, but they're yours, God. Every part

  231. of my life, my job, and my

  232. relationships, it's yours. I give them

  233. to you.

  234. I think the question question is, when

  235. pressure hits your life, which voice do

  236. you obey? The crowd's voice or the

  237. father's voice? Today we're going to

  238. look at a few things and see what the

  239. word of God would speak to us as we

  240. remember and as we look at the story

  241. here from John 19. So first this morning

  242. as we look into it the thought of what

  243. earth mocks heaven magnifies.

  244. Now when we look into this story and

  245. look into John and look at Pilate,

  246. Pilate is here bring he brings Jesus out

  247. wearing a purple robe and a crown of

  248. thorns.

  249. Everything about that moment is truly

  250. engineered to shame Jesus. The robe is

  251. of course not honory honor. It's

  252. mockery. The crown is not glory but it

  253. is cruelty. The whole scene is a joke in

  254. the eyes of the Romans. It's making fun

  255. of Jesus. A cruel performance meant to

  256. humiliate him in front of the crowd and

  257. in front of the people.

  258. But what earth would call mockery,

  259. heaven calls majesty. And in fact, these

  260. things, there's some important things

  261. that we see. Even while the soldiers

  262. think they are degrading him, heaven is

  263. declaring him worthy. Heaven is

  264. declaring him mighty. Heaven is

  265. declaring him the one and only.

  266. When Pilate says, "Behold the man,"

  267. heaven is saying, "Behold the king." And

  268. there's a detail or a couple in this

  269. text that John uses very intentionally.

  270. In fact, when we break it down and we

  271. look at the word used for robe and we

  272. look at what that means and what that

  273. is, it literally is a purple garment.

  274. But purple was the ancient color

  275. of royalty, of wealth, of imperial

  276. power. What they meant as parody,

  277. scripture uses as prophecy, saying,

  278. "You've got it right." The earth, even

  279. in this case, had it right. They just

  280. didn't realize that they had it right.

  281. They dressed him as a king to mock him,

  282. not realizing they're truly revealing

  283. who he is. But even more maybe than this

  284. purple and this robe, John uses a word

  285. for the crown, this twisted together

  286. crown. And the same idea from the same

  287. background is in Genesis chapter 3 when

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  288. sin is entered the world. And John is

  289. telling the people and telling his

  290. readers and he's telling us today that

  291. even when they put that crown of thorns

  292. on his head, it was like weaving

  293. together sin. It was like weaving

  294. weaving together what we have done what

  295. earth did to Jesus and putting the

  296. weight of sin that twisted thorn that

  297. ickiness on his head that cruelty it

  298. wasn't only something that was evil and

  299. something that was terrible obviously to

  300. put on our Lord but it was a sign of who

  301. he was that the curse that entered the

  302. world through sin is placed on his head

  303. to once and for all be taken away to be

  304. given his holiness, his grace, his mercy

  305. to take that sin away.

  306. What looks like shame is actually a

  307. stage of coronation. The suffering

  308. Christ is not being diminished. But he

  309. is being displayed. He who he is and

  310. what he has done and the words that are

  311. used in this chapter in even those few

  312. words to the readers they would have

  313. understood. They would have seen. They

  314. would have said, "Wow, look at what our

  315. God has done. Look at who

  316. he is."

  317. It's invi it's vital in our life

  318. not to measure our obedience by what

  319. earth would do or what earth would say.

  320. Heaven so often and earth and so often

  321. including in this scripture mocks and

  322. goes against the very things that are

  323. the call and the plan of God. The very

  324. things that he has for us, the earth

  325. around us, the sin nature, our our

  326. culture will push the wrong direction.

  327. In fact, obedience often looks like loss

  328. before it looks like glory. Faithfulness

  329. rarely gets applause. Sometimes it gets

  330. misunderstood. Sometimes it gets judged.

  331. Sometimes it gets mocked.

  332. And I want you to hear today that when

  333. we sign up to to say, "Jesus, you are my

  334. everything. You are my Lord. You are my

  335. Savior." The word of God does not say

  336. that everything is just going to be easy

  337. from here on out. I'll tell you what, I

  338. would I would be fine. I would be happy,

  339. right? That would be great. But that's

  340. not what the word says. But it says

  341. he'll never leave us. He'll never

  342. forsake us. Which means in every

  343. situation, in every season, in every

  344. problem, he walks before us. And we can

  345. trust him. And we can rely on him. And

  346. we can say, "I don't even care if the

  347. earth mocks. If my family or my friends

  348. or my co-workers mock what God is doing

  349. in my life and who he has called me to

  350. be. I'm not here for Earth. I'm not here

  351. for humanity. Now, I am to share the

  352. love of Jesus, but not so they're

  353. pleased with me. I'm here for heaven,

  354. and I want to magnify the things and

  355. have heaven magnified through my life.

  356. I want you to hear today that earth's

  357. mockery cannot cancel he cancel heaven's

  358. coronation. And no matter what they did

  359. or tried to do to Jesus,

  360. church, it didn't stop. In fact, they

  361. played right into the hands of what his

  362. call was to take the sin of the world to

  363. f fulfill scripture and prophecy to line

  364. it up so that he could be the one the

  365. one and for all savior of the world who

  366. took our sin and our shame and our pain.

  367. And in fact later there's going to be an

  368. opportunity to say or you can any time

  369. throughout this Lord forgive me of my

  370. sins. That's why he came. That's why he

  371. died. That's why he was worth and he was

  372. willing to be mocked by earth because he

  373. knew that in the heavenlies he was

  374. fulfilling his call and his plan.

  375. What earth mocks heaven magnifies.

  376. The second thing today is that what

  377. pressure tests faith reveals. And as we

  378. look in those next several verses and

  379. portion of scripture, we remember that

  380. the chief priests are pushing against

  381. Pilate is saying, "Why? Take it. Do it

  382. yourself. I don't want any part of this.

  383. The Jews are are coming over and over

  384. and over again. He's made himself the

  385. son of God.

  386. He's made himself the one that is high.

  387. Pilate even comes and Pilate questions

  388. him and wants to wants to just hear from

  389. him." And Jesus isn't responding or

  390. answering or giving the answers that

  391. Pilate would want because his response

  392. is to the Lord.

  393. Pilate,

  394. the one that had all of the authority

  395. and all of the power in this situation.

  396. And you notice that Jesus wasn't just

  397. begging and pleasing, please, please.

  398. No, he was standing before God saying,

  399. I'm willing. I'm open to do what you've

  400. called me to do.

  401. And there's pressure. Pressure in this

  402. moment came upon both Jesus but also

  403. upon Pilate. Pressure in this moment

  404. came in such a powerful way that he knew

  405. Pilate knew you are not guilty. He knew

  406. that he was he was not the one that

  407. should be put on the cross. There was

  408. pressure that was building up for Pilate

  409. to do what the people wanted, even if it

  410. wasn't what he believed and what he knew

  411. to be right.

  412. In the earthly, it would have been

  413. pressure for Jesus to say, "If I just

  414. beg, if I just plead, if I try to get

  415. out of what my calling is, if I try to

  416. get out of this situation, maybe I could

  417. talk Pilot into it." And you know, as

  418. I've been studying and thinking about

  419. this, Pilate is so positive to Jesus. Is

  420. it possible that Jesus wasn't going to

  421. speak to Pilate and give him anything to

  422. build his faith? Because if he did,

  423. maybe Pilate would have changed his mind

  424. and instead he stood there silent before

  425. the Lord, knowing, "Lord, you've got me.

  426. This is going to be hard. But I give my

  427. life and I'm not going to do anything to

  428. stop your plan for me. I'm not going to

  429. do anything to get me off track of what

  430. you want for me." And so he stood there

  431. and he was silent to the point where

  432. Pilate says, "You're not going to speak

  433. to me. You're not going to say

  434. anything."

  435. And pressure began to build. pressure

  436. began to to be so strong and you can

  437. almost just feel it like palable. It's

  438. so so much in this moment for Jesus but

  439. for Pilate

  440. say am I going to do what is right? Who

  441. am I going to bow to

  442. our life? Are we going to throw the club

  443. and ruin our witness or are we going to

  444. be the example

  445. in our life? Are we going to stay true

  446. to what the word of God would say even

  447. when family or friends or culture around

  448. us would say it's not that big of a big

  449. of a deal? We can look at church culture

  450. and even this morning it made me sad

  451. that we drove by a church and my son

  452. asked, "Hey, is that a Christian

  453. church?" And I'm like, "Oh my goodness,

  454. where have we been that churches that

  455. were Christian that all of a sudden it's

  456. like, I don't know, maybe it depends

  457. because we can get ourselves where

  458. pressure rises and where the word

  459. changes us. It doesn't change us

  460. anymore." And it said culture changes us

  461. and we no longer align with his word and

  462. the truth that Jesus is the only way to

  463. heaven where we would have to say, "Is

  464. that a Christian church?" I don't know.

  465. I hope so. I pray they preach Jesus.

  466. Church, it's not that hard actually to

  467. find ourselves in a place where pressure

  468. changes us if we have not pre-chosen who

  469. we are and who'sse we are.

  470. I've mentioned my son and this morning

  471. and I I'm so thankful. We have five

  472. amazing kids and I I say this

  473. periodically, but it's the best

  474. illustration I can possibly give. Before

  475. we decided that we were going to have

  476. children, we knew we wanted to have

  477. children. Before we were like, "Okay,

  478. it's time. We're gonna make this

  479. happen." We sat down and my question is,

  480. Rachel, Chris,

  481. if one of our kids would go to be the

  482. with the Lord early, which I think that

  483. would be the hardest thing in all of

  484. humanity would be to lose a child. And

  485. some of you have walked that journey. Do

  486. we trust the Lord enough that he's still

  487. God and he's still good and he's still

  488. our king and our savior and worthy even

  489. if what we value the most would be taken

  490. from us by whatever means or method

  491. like I don't want to have something so

  492. important until I can pre-choose in my

  493. life that I give them to the Lord and

  494. I'm going to do my best and we're going

  495. to do our best to lead them and to raise

  496. them and to have them serve Jesus. But

  497. if something happens that doesn't align

  498. with our views, the word of God is our

  499. center no matter what.

  500. And maybe in your life there's other

  501. areas, there's other things that we say,

  502. "Hey Lord, I have to give this to you."

  503. Maybe in the area of worry or fear.

  504. Lord, there's nothing. I'm going to

  505. pre-choose that I'm not going to walk in

  506. fear. I'm going to pre-choose that when

  507. something crazy happens, I know I'm

  508. going to be good.

  509. The other night, uh, we were we were in

  510. our bed and I think it might have just

  511. been us at home and all of a sudden it

  512. sounded so clearly like a door slammed

  513. on our house. And I was like, wonder

  514. what that was. No one's here. Like

  515. that's bizarre. So, you have the choice,

  516. which I think a smart choice is to get

  517. up and just go be sure. But are we going

  518. to be fearful and terrified in the

  519. moment or are we just going to go and be

  520. like, "Well, I guess if I mean, if they

  521. have weapons, I don't, so I guess I'm

  522. just dying, so I don't need to be a be

  523. afraid." Like, it just is. It is what it

  524. is. Like, I'm sure it's nothing.

  525. Actually, I think it went just like

  526. that. And Rachel said, "Are you going to

  527. go check?"

  528. I wasn't. No, actually, I wasn't, but I

  529. am now. Yes, I'm going to go check.

  530. And what do you do? You get up and you

  531. go see. But I was not going to live even

  532. in 30 seconds of fear in my life about

  533. something that almost for sure wasn't

  534. going to be. But I was willing to check

  535. wisdom, right? We can have wisdom, but

  536. I'm going to decide in my life, "No, I'm

  537. not going to walk in fear." Now, we were

  538. going over a bridge the other day, and I

  539. believe Chandler asked, "Hey, for $5,

  540. would you jump off this bridge if you

  541. knew you weren't going to die?" And I

  542. was like, "No, no, I would not. It was

  543. high. It was something. Uh, I don't know

  544. if I wanted to jump in that water

  545. truthfully. I might jump off a bridge if

  546. I knew it was safe. But not that bridge.

  547. Not at that moment. Definitely for $5.

  548. And definitely not when it was cold

  549. outside. Now, how much would it take? I

  550. don't know. And I don't that's not fear.

  551. That's wisdom, right? We can have wisdom

  552. in our life. No, I'm not jumping off

  553. that bridge.

  554. But when pressure arises, have you

  555. predecided

  556. what the future looks like for you? And

  557. not every detail, but I'm going to

  558. follow Jesus. I'm going to listen to his

  559. word. What happens when you have

  560. feelings that maybe you shouldn't have

  561. or you look at things you shouldn't look

  562. at? Have you decided, no, I won't. I

  563. will trust the Lord and follow the Lord.

  564. What happens when there's emotional

  565. things that go on and all of a sudden

  566. just being real, there's somebody that

  567. could answer those emotional needs, but

  568. no, no, I'm called to my spouse, to the

  569. Lord. I won't do that no matter what.

  570. Have we predecided difficult things in

  571. our life?

  572. Have we predecided the easiest things in

  573. our life?

  574. I uh every time I go to a movie theater,

  575. I'm reminded of one of our students that

  576. when he would go to movies, he would go

  577. and he was cheap. I appreciate the

  578. cheapness. So, he wouldn't buy uh drink,

  579. but he would, which is disgusting. Liz

  580. is going to start freaking out over

  581. here. He would go to a trash can and get

  582. a cup out of the trash can and go in the

  583. bathroom and wash it so he could refill

  584. it so he could have free drink. Now,

  585. that's disgusting and it's stealing,

  586. right? It's both of those things. Have

  587. we preddecided that even if I could do

  588. something, no, I won't do it cuz it's

  589. not right.

  590. And my question for us today is if it's

  591. something silly or ridiculous, please

  592. don't do that students or adults. That's

  593. so disgusting. He's still alive. So, and

  594. I hope he doesn't do that anymore, but

  595. he is alive.

  596. But my question is, are we a people that

  597. we have given every part of who we are

  598. to the Lord? We've offered him

  599. everything and we're here and we say,

  600. "Jesus, whatever you want. I will do

  601. what you've called me to do." Worship

  602. team, if you want to make your way back

  603. up here this morning,

  604. as we look at that pressure that tests

  605. faith, the last thing is what you avoid

  606. decides for you. And I think when you

  607. think of Pilate in this moment, we see

  608. Jesus. He's chosen. I'm going to do what

  609. God has called me to do. But Pilate is

  610. given chance after chance after chance.

  611. And what you will not decide in truth, I

  612. want you to hear will be decided for you

  613. in pressure. What you have not decided

  614. prehand in the pressure moment, you will

  615. decide something. And who knows what it

  616. might be.

  617. I want us to hear today that if we truth

  618. choose truth now

  619. that's the only way because if not

  620. pressure will choose for you and in the

  621. things that matter most in your life to

  622. the smallest to the biggest things have

  623. you given everything where you've

  624. offered him Lord I give you my life I

  625. give you every part of who I am and I

  626. will choose truth beforehand so that I

  627. am never in a place where like pilot

  628. where I know what I should do but family

  629. or pressure people, society or culture

  630. pull me the wrong way. Jesus, he never

  631. shifted his allegiance to fit the

  632. moment. His allegiance remained true no

  633. matter what.

  634. And this portion of scripture gives us

  635. such a clear

  636. right or wrong. It gives us such a

  637. clear, am I going to follow Jesus or am

  638. I going to follow the world? Am I going

  639. to be like Pilate or am I going to be

  640. like Jesus? Am I going to be someone who

  641. knows who I am? I know who's I am. I

  642. follow him. I love him. I've given him

  643. everything and even the difficulties of

  644. my life. Things I don't understand.

  645. Things I'm I'm never going to

  646. understand.

  647. Lord, I know your word and I trust you

  648. and I rely on you. I stand true in who

  649. you are.

  650. I really want us to hear that what you

  651. predderdecide specifically in his

  652. presence becomes your strength in the

  653. moment.

  654. That that's the whole thought this

  655. morning. Have you pre-decided? Have you

  656. got with Jesus and his word? Have you

  657. spent time in his presence saying,

  658. "Lord, who am I? Who am I in my

  659. marriage? Who am I in my family and

  660. parenting? Who am I as an employee or an

  661. employer? Who am I? Lord, let me choose

  662. your word. And even when pressure rises,

  663. Lord, I'm going to do what you've called

  664. me to do. I'm not going to be Pilot,

  665. but I'm going to act as Jesus acted as

  666. he gave us the guide. I'm going to offer

  667. him every part of who I am. And today, I

  668. want to invite you that if you need

  669. courage, ask him, Lord, give me courage.

  670. If you need clarity, listen for his

  671. word. Get in his word. Hear him.

  672. If you need strength today, receive him.

  673. And today, if our prayer team, if you

  674. would come, if we could stand to our

  675. feet all over the room, we're going to

  676. close this time by praying, by

  677. believing, by asking Jesus, Lord, help

  678. us. Strengthen us, build us up in you.

  679. We're going to go after him. And if

  680. you're here today and you need Jesus,

  681. you want to give him your life. You want

  682. to offer him every part of who you are,

  683. I want to invite you today to come to

  684. come talk to one of these and say, "I

  685. need Jesus. I want to offer him my life.

  686. He'll do it.

  687. If you need healing, come. Let's pray.

  688. We're going to pray and believe that the

  689. God of the universe will heal and

  690. restore and make you new. If you need to

  691. just be in his presence, come. Come to

  692. an altar. Raise your hands where you are

  693. and ask him, "Lord, let me pre-choose

  694. today." And you know what? Maybe there's

  695. an area of difficulty in your life right

  696. now. The pressure is high. I would

  697. encourage you, come to one of our prayer

  698. teams. We want to worship. We want to

  699. pray. We want to believe with you that

  700. you're going to make it through the

  701. pressure situation to experience his

  702. love and his power in your life.

  703. When kings bow, Pilate bowed to the

  704. crowd. But Jesus, he would only bow to

  705. his father. And let's come and let's

  706. only bow to the King of Kings and the

  707. Lord of Lords. Lord, today we give you

  708. all of the glory and the praise. It's

  709. all yours. We hail you as the only king,

  710. the only one worthy. And Lord, as we

  711. pray, let our faith arise today. We do

  712. not bow to culture. We do not bow to

  713. family. We don't bow to situations. We

  714. don't bow to difficulties. We don't bow

  715. to pressure, but we bow to you and you

  716. alone. So help us strengthen our call in

  717. you. And Lord, right now, anybody in

  718. this room that is not a follower of you,

  719. Lord, I pray they would take that step

  720. just to pray, Lord, forgive me. Make me

  721. new. I repent and I give you my life for

  722. the rest of my life, Lord. And we're

  723. thankful. It's that easy. And we're all

  724. together. We're all apart. So Lord, as

  725. we sing this closing song, don't let it

  726. just be a few minutes of filler, but

  727. Lord, let it be a time of prayer in this

  728. room. We give you everything. We commit

  729. ourselves to you and to you alone. And

  730. we predecide in your presence

  731. who we are, what we believe, what we

  732. stand on. So we have strength in the

  733. moment when we need it most. Lord, we

  734. love you today. We praise you. Let our

  735. worship and our prayer be sweet to your

  736. ear. In your name we pray. Amen. Come

  737. on, let's worship. Let's pray. Let's

  738. seek the Lord together.

  739. There was a moment when lights went out.

  740. When death had claimed its victory,

  741. the king of love had gi up his life.

  742. The darkest day in history.

  743. They're on a cross they made for sers.

  744. For every curse is blood atone.

  745. One final breath and it was finished.

  746. But not the end we could have known.

  747. For the earth began to shake

  748. and the veil was toilet.

  749. What sacrifice was made

  750. as the heavens roar.

  751. Oh hail King Jesus.

  752. Oh hail the Lord of heaven and earth. Oh

  753. hail king Jesus.

  754. Oh hail the savior

  755. of the world.

  756. Hallelujah.

  757. There was a moment when the sky lit.

  758. A flash of light was breaking through.

  759. When all was lost, he crossed eternity.

  760. The king of life was on above.

  761. For in a dark cold too,

  762. where all was laid,

  763. one moreous

  764. and we're forever

  765. changing

  766. together. Oh h

  767. Jesus.

  768. Oh hell

  769. of heaven.

  770. Oh hell king Jesus.

  771. Oh hior.

  772. Oh

  773. Jesus.

  774. Oh,

  775. hell

  776. of heaven.

  777. Oh,

  778. Jesus.

  779. Hell.

  780. Hallelujah.

  781. Come before the king of kings.

  782. The he

  783. lift up your shing

  784. We're singing.

  785. All hail King Jesus.

  786. All hail the Lord of heaven and earth.

  787. All hail King Jesus.

  788. All hail the savior

  789. of the world.

  790. >> Jesus, today we are thankful. You're our

  791. savior. You're our leader. You're the

  792. one and the only one that's worthy. And

  793. so Lord, today in the middle maybe or

  794. before the pressure, Lord, we choose

  795. you. We put you first in our life. We

  796. put you first in our marriages, in our

  797. families, in our relationships, in our

  798. jobs, Lord. And even the the fun things

  799. that we do in life, Lord, we put you

  800. first in all areas and say, Lord, your

  801. word is our guide. You are our our our

  802. morning star. You're what we need. We've

  803. come to you in all things. And Lord,

  804. when you speak, we will say yes. So

  805. Lord, let us follow you. Let us go after

  806. you. Let us love you. And Lord, maybe

  807. somebody today that's walking through a

  808. difficult a difficulty, a struggling

  809. moment, a health thing. Lord, whatever

  810. it might be, Lord, right now, I pray

  811. your blessing on them, your life on

  812. them, your peace on them. Fill them with

  813. you, Holy Spirit, in a mighty and in a

  814. powerful way that we leave here saying,

  815. "Lord, it may still be there, but Lord,

  816. you are good. You're our God. You're

  817. going to see us through and we've chosen

  818. today. We're going to be faithful as we

  819. know, God, you are our faithful one. We

  820. love you. We thank you. Bless these

  821. people today. As we go, let us walk in

  822. you and your goodness, Jesus. We thank

  823. you. We praise you and we worship you.

  824. In your name we pray. Amen.

  825. Amen. Well, thank you for coming. Before

  826. we leave this morning, I want to remind

  827. you Wednesday night altar of revival

  828. midweek 7:00 sharp. We are going to

  829. start. We're going to worship Jesus.

  830. We're going to go after him. spend time

  831. at the altars. Would love to have you

  832. join us. Bring some people with you.

  833. We're going to pray for healing,

  834. miracles, the Holy Spirit. We're going

  835. to go after Jesus on Wednesday night.

  836. And be sure to sign up for this next

  837. Sunday, our egg hunt. And be sure to be

  838. here. Let's fill the house with us. And

  839. we're going to have a ton of guests as

  840. we're going to worship Jesus and see a

  841. bunch of people come to know him. One

  842. more for Jesus this week. Be careful

  843. what you watch. Be careful what you

  844. listen to. Be careful what you talk

  845. about. Savor the presence of Jesus. Have

  846. a great week.
