Spirit & Fire Pt. 1 | Chris Gross | Radiant Life Church

Well, what a great day and I'm pumped.

We are jumping into a brand new sermon

series and we're going to give the tit

spirit and fire. That's where we're

going the next three weeks talking Lord,

what do you want to do? Holy Spirit, how

do you want to move? How do we walk in

the fire of God? Things that we see

throughout the word of God. But as we

already read today's scripture, we're

going to be focusing on John chapter 15

and 16 and then branching out from

there. We have never been ever been

asked to be followers of Jesus New

Testament church without being given the

ability to walk in the power of the Holy

Spirit. And I am so incredibly thankful

because I need the power of the Holy

Spirit in my life. I need his goodness.

I need his grace. If we're looking for

Pastor Chris to do all the things

because of my strength and my power, I

don't want it. I don't want any part of

it. And I hope you're in the same way in

your life, in your marriage, in your

job, as a parent, in friendships, in

anything I need. And I pray you realize

you need. In fact, hopefully by the end

of the day, if you don't come in, you're

going to know you need the spirit of God

to help you in every area of your life.

We're not created to do this alone.

We're created to walk in his power. Now,

when I think about this morning and the

power to stand, I think about a main big

word that is maybe terrible. It's one of

those words that's just real for all of

us, and that would be the word pressure.

I I don't know about you, but pressure

changes things. I I watch a lot of Cavs

game, and there used to be a guy, he

would always say, "Pressure breaks the

pipes." And what was he saying? you do,

you know, you shoot 99 out of 100,

whatever it is, but then you get on the

free throw line when you need it to win

the game and all of a sudden people act

like they can't shoot anymore. Pressure

makes life hard. And I was thinking

about our own life. We can do all the

things that we're supposed to do. What

would those be? Eating, right? We can

exercise. To me, by far the most

important one. I don't know if anybody

agrees, but you can get the right sleep.

Sleep is so How many of you are like, I

need my sleep. I am a I'm a sleeper.

Yeah, absolutely. If you didn't raise

your hand, you do need sleep. I promise

you, you need sleep. Uh, in fact,

probably the people around you, if you

have sleep versus if you don't have

sleep, they might be able to tell you

even if they didn't know. And I'm not

talking about the bags under your eyes.

I'm saying it is way easier to live.

It's way easier to be a good dad, a good

husband, a good friend, a good good

employee or employer if you're rested

and you've slept, right? Anybody can you

agree with me like that is a true

statement? Yeah, absolutely. It's

easier. Life is easier. But something

that I realize when I look into the word

and when we hear what Jesus would say,

there is no amount of sleep that

prepares us for persecution. There's no

amount of sleep or exercise or being

ready and disciplined and prepared to

put ourselves in a place where I am now

ready for whatever life throws at me.

I've got it. There's so many things in

life, sickness and disease and pain and

what people do. And sometimes people we

love most when it's like, whoa, I

thought this was safe and all of a

sudden it's not safe. But then you throw

on a whole another level where Jesus is

saying, "Just because you know me, just

because you know me, the world is going

to hate you." Now, maybe you grew up in

a church or you grew up in a place where

someone said, "Hey, you come to Jesus,

everything's going to be easy.

Everything's going to be fun. It's going

to be great." Just so you know, uh

unfortunately

that is not biblical. That is not what

the word of God would say. In fact, when

we come to him, we should ex expect

tribulations and problems and

persecutions. We should expect the world

to hate us. I was just saying there's

pressure. Life is pressure. And why in

our world don't people love Jesus? In

fact, when I was thinking about this and

just the consistent pattern of our

world, so often I see news stories and

people that maybe as crazy as in other

countries, not so much here yet, but

where parents have their kids taken from

them. Why? Because the parents have

biblical principles and won't let their

kids do whatever they want. You're like,

"What? How could it possibly

be?"

It's because of what Jesus said. If you

love me, the world will hate you. If you

love what I do, the world will hate what

you do. If you walk in me, the power of

my spirit, the world's not going to

appreciate it. So today, we're going to

look at some of these things, this

battle that we have internally. And

maybe it sounds like, oh boy, this

sounds horrible. It starts there. But

when we step into the things of God, all

of a sudden, we understand what freedom

is, what life is, what his power is, how

he moves. And that's what we're going to

look at today. So spirit and fire, you

need power to stand. Number one this

morning, we're going to look at the

pressure requires power you do not have

on your own. I want to read verse 18 and

19 again. It says, "If the world hates

you, know that it has hated me before it

hated you. If you were of the world, the

world would love you as its own. But

because you are not of the world, but I

chose you out of the world, therefore

the world hates you." Woo! Pressure

requires power you do not have on your

own. And when I think about this and I

think about the fact if you want to be

loved, then you go the way the world is

going. If you want the world to love

you, then you do what culture would say,

what society would say, what the people

would say. And you could say, I'm going

to turn on the news and pick which news

brand I want. I'm going to do what they

want. So all of these people will like

what I do. And Jesus is saying that is

not the way to go. instead that we must

love him. We must love his word. We must

love the truth of he who he is and know

that there will be hatred towards us. We

must know that pressure is going to

arise. We must know that the life is

going to be great in our freedom in

Jesus. But also there's a difficulty

because pressure requires power.

Something we can't do on our own or

experience in our own way. I think we

see here that pressure exposes weakness.

If the world hates you, it's going to

there's there's weakness in in our life.

We don't want that in our life. We want

things to be good. We want everyone to

like us. We want to just be able to fit

in. Many of us, we just want to go

underneath the radar. But when we walk

in the Lord, that's not what we're

asking asked to do. And pressure will

rise. We realize that pressure, it

reveals identity. Pressure is something

that all of a sudden who am I and who's

am I? Because it says you are not of the

world. And when I begin to realize, oh,

when I'm walking in the power of God,

the pressure of the world, it's not me

and my strength, but I walk in the one

in the world of of God. I choose

to be out of this world as Jesus called

us. There's pressure. Pressure demands

strength. beyond our natural capacity

says that the world will hate us like it

hated him.

There will be struggle. And when I think

about life and I think about the

difficulties of life and I think about

pressure, maybe in marriages or maybe in

relationships, maybe just pressure in

finances, pressure in the things of

life, but maybe we even take it a step

further and pressure in things that

maybe we don't even want to be a part of

our life. Maybe there's an addiction or

something that no one else even knows

about or very few people know about, but

we hold on to it and we wish we could

get rid of it. But when pressure rises,

those things kind of take control and it

we don't have the ability, the the

personal strength to overcome those

things.

We can maybe realize in certain areas

that there's pressure that has us bound

and when pressure arises, things that I

don't want and that I don't want to be a

part of me begin to rise to the surface.

You know, when I think about most

Christians and followers of Jesus,

there's not many followers of Jesus,

maybe any that I've ever talked to who

just were, I love Jesus, and the next

day like, hey, I don't I don't love

Jesus anymore. I don't care about Jesus

anymore. That's not normally how it

goes. They don't stop believing.

But Christians, we can fall because

pressure drains us and we don't have the

power to stand. We don't have the power

to remain true. We don't have the the

power to remain in his word and in what

he would speak to us.

You know, I think a big key of this is

realizing that discipline in our life,

this might go in the face of some things

that are spoken elsewhere, but

discipline

alone is not enough.

Discipline alone is not going to get you

where you want to go. Discip discipline

alone or conviction is not enough. Good

intentions, church, are not enough. What

I want to do is not enough.

Church, we're in a place where like the

disciples, we need the power of God.

Because the disciples could not stand in

John 18, what we looked at a few weeks

ago, they couldn't do it on their own.

But when they get to Acts chapter 4,

they stand up in Acts chapter 2 and all

Acts 2 · chapter mention

throughout the New Testament, they stand

up. They rise to the occasion. And the

power of God flows through them even

when there's discomfort or danger or

fear that is still there. And they

didn't change because pressure changed

or their discipline changed. They

changed because power had arrived.

And so when I think of this, you might

be like, "This is the most depressing

beginning of a sermon ever." Like we

don't we're not good enough. We don't

have it. We don't have the enough

strength. We can't do it. There's too

much pressure in our life. And I want

someone to really clearly get it. If

you're trying to do it in your own

power, your own strength, your own

authority, your own wisdom, that's

exactly true. You cannot accomplish what

God has for you. And when we step back

and say, "Lord, I don't want to do it

anymore. I don't want to be the one

that's holding the load. I don't want to

be the one that's carrying everything,

but I want to walk in you and your

goodness and your truth." Then

everything begins to change. And we see

here in in John chapter 15, those next

few verses Jesus is talking about the

truth has been spoken and people are

held accountable to that truth and they

need him and they need the goodness of

God. And it gets all the way up to to

verse 26. And in verse 26, we see that

it's not us and it's not our strength

and it's not our power. But it says,

"But when the ho the helper comes whom I

will send to you from the father, the

spirit of truth who proceeds from the

father, he will bear witness about me."

What does this mean? The helper, he

doesn't just comfort you, but he

strengthens

you. Jesus knows what fear feels like.

He knows what pressure is coming our

way. And he knows encouragement alone

will not be enough. So he promises the

helper, not advice, not motivation, not

inspiration, but he promises power. Now

when I think about this and you think

about the spirit and you think about

people and maybe culture and our our

life, comfort, uh these things I

mentioned, advice, motivation,

inspiration, I normally like I don't

know about advice sometimes, Pastor

Matt. sometimes advice. I'm like, h, I'm

not sure about that advice. But I love

being motivated. I love being inspired.

I love some things in my life. But

sometimes we're looking for the people

and the situations around us just to

pump us up. You can do it. YOU'VE GOT

IT. YOU'VE GOT WHAT you need. You can

make it happen. Sometimes we're looking

for people to just give us enough

advice. If I just know enough, if I just

experience enough, I'll be able to get

to the other side. Sometimes we're like,

"Okay, I've got it. I understand. Now, I

just need to get some motivation. Maybe

you're going to go into your boss and

ask for a raise and you're like, okay,

I've got motivation, but I need some

inspiration. I got to get pumped up

here. Maybe you drink a, you know, a Red

Bull or a Monster or whatever it is, and

you're like, I'm going to do this. You

got to get pumped up. But I want you to

know in our life, in our walk with the

Lord, just being pumped up, just having

in some advice, just having some

thoughts of this is what I can do or

this is how I can make it happen. And

that might include a counselor or

friends or an accountability group,

great things that we might need in our

life. But if I'm looking for everything

to come from a person, from advice, from

inspiration, I'm going to fall short

because Jesus tells them the helper is

on the way, going to come from the

father and he will bear witness about

me. He is the one that's going to give

this power to accomplish. He is the one

that's going to help you do what you

want to do and what God has called you

to be.

And you notice he doesn't say a helper.

Once again, it's not a thing. It's not

an opportunity, but the helper will

come. And that church is what we need.

We need the helper, the Holy Spirit to

move in our life. He's not a solution.

He's not an option. He's not something

we can walk in. But church, we need the

spirit of God. We have to have him. He

strengthens you. He doesn't only comfort

you. It's not re emotional re assurance.

It's not only divine reinforcement.

Jesus is saying what you're about to

face requires more than comfort. It

requires power from outside

of yourself.

And I hope today you begin to say,

"Okay, I can't do it on my own." I've

shown that probably you could give an

option or a thing or two or maybe even

an area right now in your life. You're

like, "I can't do it on my own. I can't

get out of my own way. I can't get rid

of the attitude. I can't get rid of what

I say. I can't get rid of this

addiction. I can't get rid of this anger

problem I've had or or or I just can't

get the boldness to walk in the Lord."

Today you're free because the power of

of the spirit, the helper. He wants to

empower you. Not only encourage you, but

empower you whom will be sent from the

father to walk in his goodness

to do what you want to accomplish to see

the power of God work through you. He

doesn't just help us endure pressure. He

does. Jesus doesn't. But he says there's

one coming who will be all that you

need. And when I look at the word of God

and I look at John chapter 15 and John

chapter 18, the disciples Peter, they

they start to run. They start to not

deny Jesus. They just start they start

to go the other direction from what they

believe and what their convictions and

what their hearts are. They know what is

right. They believe in Jesus.

But pre Acts chapter 2, pre the spirit

Acts 2 · chapter mention

being poured out, the disciples find

themselves in locked in behind locked

doors. They find themselves with fear

dictating their decisions. They find

themselves silent because it feels way

safer

than sharing and then obedience in who

God has for them. There's this moment of

they need, but after Pentecost, where

we're going to be going in the next

couple of weeks, they speak openly. In

fact, so openly that 3,000 people at one

time could come to know Jesus. I'm I'm

not the best math expert in the room,

but if 3,000 people at least gave their

life to Jesus, Mike, that means over

3,000 people had to be there, right?

Maybe double. It could have been six. It

could have been 10,000. They just were

hiding in an upper room. They just were

hiding. The Holy Spirit is poured out

and now they've got a crowd and they're

not afraid. and they begin to share the

power of Jesus.

You know what I find interesting?

Pressure did not decrease after the

spirit came after Jesus left. And in

fact, I would say pressure increased. It

only got more and more. But fear in

their life decreased.

How do we have pressure and even more

opportunity fear come? But we have it

decrease in our heart and our life

because of power of the Holy Spirit.

and their witness. It became

unavoidable.

Read Acts. And over and over and over

they began to share and began to share

at different locations at different

places. Literally taking their gospel to

places it had never been taking the

gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing about

the culture changed. Nothing about the

threat level changed. But their power

level changed because the helper came.

And he didn't remove danger, but he

removed fierce control over their life.

He removed what they couldn't do and

gave them what they could. And they

could walk in the power of God in such a

way that they could walk right through

the situations, right through the fear,

right through the dangers to see the

early church explode.

The same people who just had said, "I

don't know the man." That guy Peter, he

led the church with power and with

authority.

The helper never comes empty-handed

because power always produces witness.

And I want to hear I want you to hear it

one more time. He doesn't come and just

move and say, "Woo, I got some good

feelings in my heart." But he comes and

he gives you strength and power for the

next season and the next moment and the

next thing and the next calling. He

gives you power to see that addiction in

your life broke off. Not because you're

great, but because he's great. He gives

you what you need. And sometimes he may

heal and restore. And that addiction be

gone in one moment. It might happen at

an altar, at a prayer time, or with a

brother or sister just asking, or maybe

in the quiet of your bedroom or of your

living room. But other times, he gives

us what we need by giving us wisdom and

power to consistently say no. To

consistently say, "I'm going to put

people around me. They're going to help

guide me and direct me. They're going to

put people around me. They're going to

help me. In fact, first service my dad,

he was sitting right up here in the

front and there's been a couple times

and I was thinking of it. I don't think

anytime recently. And in fact, I can't

remember when the last time he did this,

but there's been a few times in my life

where he's like, "No, you're wrong." And

I'm like, "Oh." And it's like, "Yes, I

am." I was like the voice of the Lord

like, "Yes, I am." We need people. But

then we need the power of the spirit to

help us say, "You know what? You're

right.

That's not the right way to go. That's

not the right thing to do. And now I'm

going to put brothers and sisters around

me to help me walk in the power of the

spirit. Not on my own strength, but when

I come and I'm obedient to him, anything

is possible.

Someone needs to hear it again. The Holy

Spirit, the helper, doesn't come just to

comfort you. Although thankfully he does

do that, he comes to strengthen you and

to give you power to do what you could

not do on your own.

Last verse here of John chap 15 verse 27

it says and you also will bear bear

witness because you have been with me

from the beginning. You know when I look

at that specific verse a couple of

things just jump out at me. First of

all, witness is not optional. I It says

you will bear witness. Like that is just

something that is a part of a Christ

follower. It's what we need to be a

part. It's who we are. We let him work

in us, transform us, save us, literally

give us salvation, his grace, and his

mercy. And then we must be people that

bear witness.

Another thing we see here is

listen real close. I don't think this is

heresy, but experience with Jesus is not

enough. It's not the same as power from

the spirit. We might be able to get to

heaven just experiencing Jesus, but if

you want to have a life of power, of

authority, of strength, Jesus says

because you've been with me from the

beginning. But before that, he says,

"You need the power of God. You're going

to bear witness because you're with

Jesus. But you need the Holy Spirit, the

helper, the comforter, the one that

empowers us to accomplish the work of

the Lord. Which means, church, it's not

enough to only experience Jesus. We need

to experience him and consistently

experience him. And then as he changes

us and molds us and makes us, then we

step out in the power of the spirit to

accomplish what he's called us to

accomplish. There's witness that is

poured in us. There's power that is

poured in poured in us.

The disciples had been with Jesus. They

had heard his teaching. They had seen

his miracles. Like just not we get to

read it and believe it. Absolutely. They

saw it with their own eyes. They saw

bread turn into a basket full after

feeding 5,000 just a couple of loaves.

They saw people rise from the dead. They

saw Lazarus literally come out. He

should have been stinking. And he came

out alive and well. He they they saw it

all.

They experienced his love, his grace,

his mercy. They had experienced it all.

And Jesus said, "You need the power of

the helper in your life."

Which means, Lord, I'm so thankful. We

get to experience you as salvation. But

Lord, I need more. I need more. You tell

me I need more.

And power is the missing ingredient that

turns fear into boldness. the power of

the Holy Spirit.

It's what takes this chapter. It's what

takes these next couple and few chapters

in John and the disciples doing the

wrong things and going the wrong ways

and denying and running and hiding to an

Acts two church where they speak boldly

and with power and they're not afraid to

even go to death to be martyed. They

don't care. They're going to serve their

God and their king because they walked

in power.

pre- Pentecost disciples, they have

sincere hearts, but they're silent.

They're loyal, but they are terrified.

They're convinced by Jesus, but they're

also cautious. They don't know what to

do and where to go. But after Pentecost,

they speak boldly. They confront

authority, the authorities, and they do

it with authority. They testify under

pressure because it's not them and their

strength and their goodness, but it's

the power of God moving through them.

Church,

Pastor Rachel, as you guys come back up

here, the difference, it wasn't courage

training. They didn't have a training

boot camp on h being courageous and just

being a little bit stronger. It was

spiritfilling

power. It did not come to make them

charismatic. It's not about you if you

are in fact a witness requires power,

not personality. You growing in God

isn't about how strong or disciplined,

how amazing you are, but it's about how

willing you are to let the spirit of God

move in you and be your helper. It's

about letting him change you and

transform you. And you might be the most

introverted, quiet person, but if God

calls you to stand up and to be bold, he

will fill you with the power to

accomplish what only he could do through

you. If he's the one who would call us

from darkness to light, from sin to

purity, guess what? You can't do it on

your own. But the power of the spirit

working through you, he can accomplish

it in your life. He can bring healing

and wholeness. Addiction can be gone

even if it's been with you for your

entire life. I don't care if it's

pornography or if it's drugs or if it's

some sort of alcohol. I don't care if

it's something to just suppress the pain

in your life. He's the one that can

bring healing. And I believe in all of

the things. And I believe in counselors

and accountability groups for sure. And

I believe in getting in small groups. In

fact, we believe it's a part of

disciplehip. But if all we do is hope

that this person just maybe or maybe I

find the right person to give me what I

need so I can accomplish it. church.

We're looking for it in the wrong place.

It's not about a person. It's about the

power of the spirit that Jesus said,

"I'm going to go." But it's going to be

better.

What?

It's better. But if we try to do it in

our own self or even just saying, "Wow,

Jesus, you're so good. My relationship

with you so good." But we miss the

power. Then we might have great

experience and great moments and heaven

will be great, but we're going to miss

all that he's called us to do because

we're never going to step out. Because

we have to have the power of the spirit

in our life.

Everything Jesus promises finds

fulfillment in Acts chapter 2.

Those same disciples who could not stand

in John 18 boldly stand up in Acts

Acts 2 · chapter mention

chapter 2. The same Peter who denied

Jesus preaches him publicly and becomes

the leader of the church in a place in

time where it was incredibly dangerous.

The same group that hid now cannot be

silenced.

Not because of their discipline,

not because pressure disappeared, but

because of the power of the helper of

the Holy Spirit who had arrived.

today and then the next two Sundays,

we're going to spend time asking the

Holy Spirit to come to be poured out in

our life. We're going to ask the spirit

to move. And I'm believing that Acts

Acts 2 · chapter mention

chapter 2, and we're going to look at it

next Sunday morning,

tongues and interpretation, but tongues,

spirit infilling, that that shows us,

church, that we're going to be filled in

a new way. And if you're like, "This is

new to I encourage you get into Acts

Acts 2 · chapter mention

chapter 2. Let read it, meditate it,

read the first four chapters a few

times. Read that whole book. Let the

word of God become real to you. Let

faith arise because it doesn't come from

me speaking or anybody's words. It comes

from the word of God. And you spend time

asking him, Lord, what's this Holy

Spirit? How do you want to move? And

then when you come to church next Sunday

and the following Sunday, woo, you're

going to experience him in a new way. In

fact, you might experience him prior to

coming to church. You might fly in here,

not literally, but figuratively, right?

You might be in the spirit. You're

flying because the Lord would speak. Not

He doesn't have to do it here in this

altar. He wants to meet you in your car

on the way to work, in your bedroom, in

your living room, in your place of

prayer. He wants to meet you. And so,

don't wait for next Sunday. Begin to ask

him. Begin to pray. Begin to meditate.

And watch as he begins to fill you with

something new, a new boldness, a new

power.

church, you begin to ask. And when we

see Acts chapter 2, I pray, Lord, I want

Acts 2 · chapter mention

everything you have. And Jesus had gone

to heaven, but the church didn't push

back or didn't retreat. The exact

opposite. The church began to reach out,

began to go deeper, began to experience

his power. That's what we are called to

do. And so today, as we close, we're

going to spend some moments just in his

presence. We're going to have our prayer

teams in a few minutes. They're going to

come up. And when they do, we're going

to pray and believe for healings and for

God to set people free and to do

something mighty. But we're also just

maybe today you need to ask him, Lord,

would you fill me with your spirit aresh

and a new Lord, would you put your

spirit in me in a new way? Or maybe

you've never asked the spirit to move in

your life. Today would be a great day

just to start asking, Lord, I offer you

every part of who I am. He'll begin to

speak. He'll begin to move.

You know, before we do that, before we

come to the altar, if you're here today

and you say, "I've never made Jesus the

Lord of my life.

I've never said,"I want you to rule

every part of me. There's nothing

better." That's why we're here to say

yes to Jesus. In fact, out on our our

thing out there says, "One more for

Jesus as you come in." Big, huge, bold

letters. Why? That is what this church

is all about.

If you say, "He's knocking on my heart."

And today I want to say yes to Jesus,

the savior of the universe. I want to

say yes to him. I don't want to do this

life alone. I don't want to try to carry

the burden myself. I want to know him.

And I want that Holy Spirit thing, too.

But first, I need Jesus. I need his spir

his presence. I need him in my life, his

healing of my heart, his grace and his

mercy.

And I'm going to ask you today here in a

moment to respond and say yes to Jesus.

We're going to pray. We'll believe. But

first, it's com confessing I need him.

And if you're here and you say, "I need

Jesus. I want to start a relationship

where I've known him, but I've walked

away and I want to rededicate my life to

him." I'm going to ask you right now at

the count of three just to raise your

hand so I can see it. Then you'll be

able to put it down. If you're here and

you say, "I need Jesus." It's the most

important thing you could do right now.

One, two, three. Put your hand up if

that's you. I'm just going to scan the

room. Yes, sir. I see that hand.

Anybody else in the right section?

Join my brother today.

What about in your left section today? I

don't want to miss anybody. This is the

most important thing. I'm going to stand

back across one more time. Anybody?

It's the most important thing we can do.

Come on. Well, at least one today said

yes to Jesus. And if you're at home

today, it's what it's all about. And

we're going to pray together. Then we're

going to cheer you on cuz there's

nothing better. If you're at home, all

you have to do is ask him, "Repeat after

me." Maybe you didn't raise your hand,

but you say, "I need Jesus."

Would you repeat after me this prayer,

the prayer of salvation, saying, "I've

I've sinned. I've messed up, but Jesus

is the one that brings life." Let's as a

church family repeat this together. Say,

"Jesus,

I believe in you and that you are the

son of God.

I believe you died

and rose again

today.

I surrender my life

to you.

Forgive me.

Cleanse me. Make me new.

I choose to follow you from this day

forward

in Jesus name.

Amen. Amen. Come on, let's give a round

of applause this morning.

He's so good. He's so good. And if you

just said yes to Jesus, I invite you.

when worship starts, come see her as a

church, could we just stand to our feet

right now all over this room? And if

need God to do something special, you

need him to heal or restore or set free.

Or maybe you just need the power of God

in a new way. I'm going to invite you to

come. Let our prayer team pray with you.

And if you say, "Maybe I've never do

that. I've done that before." All you

have to do is come say, "Hey, my back

it's got pain. Would you pray with me?"

They'll pray. They'll believe. And we

believe you're going to walk out praying

pain free. Maybe you have cancer, a

disease. Maybe you have a a relational

problem. Say, "Hey, my brother, my

sister and I, we've just been

struggling." Come. They will pray with

you. Maybe you got a financial need.

Whatever it is today, come respond to

Jesus. He's going to answer. And for all

of us, maybe you need to come find a

place at an altar. Just open your heart.

Ask the helper. Lord, would you help me?

Would you heal me? Would you set me

free? Would you make me whole? Whatever

it is, watch him do it. give you the

power that you need to be the witness

and the follower of Jesus that he has

called you to be. So, let's open our

hearts to him. Let's watch him move as

we respond as we say yes. One more time,

>> Jesus. That's our prayer. Lord, I pray

that faith would arise and even when we

think, Lord, of imagining the greatness

of what you have, of who you are, Lord,

you would do what only you can do. And

we would just simply say yes to you. So,

Holy Spirit, we ask you to move in our

life. Not our strength, not our power,

not our authority, but yours this week.

that was mentioned, three weeks. And if

this whole Jesus thing. This is going to

be just right from the beginning, who he

is, what he's about. We're going to be

talking about the Holy Spirit in this

3-week course and be talking about how

we go and we are empowered by him. I

want to encourage you, come Wednesday

night, join us. We'll start in here in

this room and then we'll break out to

our adult Bible study and to

foundations. Don't miss it. If you have

kids, bring them. We have kids programs

all over the building. Let the power of

God move in your life as we go after

him. There's nothing like it. And

secondly, next week, water baptisms. I

won't tell all that Pastor Matt said,

but it's going to be special meal

beforehand. It's going to be great. If

baptized, but you've given Jesus your

life, it's time to say yes to go and to

to follow Jesus, to be baptized, invite
