  1. Well, what a great day and I'm pumped.

  2. We are jumping into a brand new sermon

  3. series and we're going to give the tit

  4. spirit and fire. That's where we're

  5. going the next three weeks talking Lord,

  6. what do you want to do? Holy Spirit, how

  7. do you want to move? How do we walk in

  8. the fire of God? Things that we see

  9. throughout the word of God. But as we

  10. already read today's scripture, we're

  11. going to be focusing on John chapter 15

    John 15 chapter mention

  12. and 16 and then branching out from

  13. there. We have never been ever been

  14. asked to be followers of Jesus New

  15. Testament church without being given the

  16. ability to walk in the power of the Holy

  17. Spirit. And I am so incredibly thankful

  18. because I need the power of the Holy

  19. Spirit in my life. I need his goodness.

  20. I need his grace. If we're looking for

  21. Pastor Chris to do all the things

  22. because of my strength and my power, I

  23. don't want it. I don't want any part of

  24. it. And I hope you're in the same way in

  25. your life, in your marriage, in your

  26. job, as a parent, in friendships, in

  27. anything I need. And I pray you realize

  28. you need. In fact, hopefully by the end

  29. of the day, if you don't come in, you're

  30. going to know you need the spirit of God

  31. to help you in every area of your life.

  32. We're not created to do this alone.

  33. We're created to walk in his power. Now,

  34. when I think about this morning and the

  35. power to stand, I think about a main big

  36. word that is maybe terrible. It's one of

  37. those words that's just real for all of

  38. us, and that would be the word pressure.

  39. I I don't know about you, but pressure

  40. changes things. I I watch a lot of Cavs

  41. game, and there used to be a guy, he

  42. would always say, "Pressure breaks the

  43. pipes." And what was he saying? you do,

  44. you know, you shoot 99 out of 100,

  45. whatever it is, but then you get on the

  46. free throw line when you need it to win

  47. the game and all of a sudden people act

  48. like they can't shoot anymore. Pressure

  49. makes life hard. And I was thinking

  50. about our own life. We can do all the

  51. things that we're supposed to do. What

  52. would those be? Eating, right? We can

  53. exercise. To me, by far the most

  54. important one. I don't know if anybody

  55. agrees, but you can get the right sleep.

  56. Sleep is so How many of you are like, I

  57. need my sleep. I am a I'm a sleeper.

  58. Yeah, absolutely. If you didn't raise

  59. your hand, you do need sleep. I promise

  60. you, you need sleep. Uh, in fact,

  61. probably the people around you, if you

  62. have sleep versus if you don't have

  63. sleep, they might be able to tell you

  64. even if they didn't know. And I'm not

  65. talking about the bags under your eyes.

  66. I'm saying it is way easier to live.

  67. It's way easier to be a good dad, a good

  68. husband, a good friend, a good good

  69. employee or employer if you're rested

  70. and you've slept, right? Anybody can you

  71. agree with me like that is a true

  72. statement? Yeah, absolutely. It's

  73. easier. Life is easier. But something

  74. that I realize when I look into the word

  75. and when we hear what Jesus would say,

  76. there is no amount of sleep that

  77. prepares us for persecution. There's no

  78. amount of sleep or exercise or being

  79. ready and disciplined and prepared to

  80. put ourselves in a place where I am now

  81. ready for whatever life throws at me.

  82. I've got it. There's so many things in

  83. life, sickness and disease and pain and

  84. what people do. And sometimes people we

  85. love most when it's like, whoa, I

  86. thought this was safe and all of a

  87. sudden it's not safe. But then you throw

  88. on a whole another level where Jesus is

  89. saying, "Just because you know me, just

  90. because you know me, the world is going

  91. to hate you." Now, maybe you grew up in

  92. a church or you grew up in a place where

  93. someone said, "Hey, you come to Jesus,

  94. everything's going to be easy.

  95. Everything's going to be fun. It's going

  96. to be great." Just so you know, uh

  97. unfortunately

  98. that is not biblical. That is not what

  99. the word of God would say. In fact, when

  100. we come to him, we should ex expect

  101. tribulations and problems and

  102. persecutions. We should expect the world

  103. to hate us. I was just saying there's

  104. pressure. Life is pressure. And why in

  105. our world don't people love Jesus? In

  106. fact, when I was thinking about this and

  107. just the consistent pattern of our

  108. world, so often I see news stories and

  109. people that maybe as crazy as in other

  110. countries, not so much here yet, but

  111. where parents have their kids taken from

  112. them. Why? Because the parents have

  113. biblical principles and won't let their

  114. kids do whatever they want. You're like,

  115. "What? How could it possibly

  116. be?"

  117. It's because of what Jesus said. If you

  118. love me, the world will hate you. If you

  119. love what I do, the world will hate what

  120. you do. If you walk in me, the power of

  121. my spirit, the world's not going to

  122. appreciate it. So today, we're going to

  123. look at some of these things, this

  124. battle that we have internally. And

  125. maybe it sounds like, oh boy, this

  126. sounds horrible. It starts there. But

  127. when we step into the things of God, all

  128. of a sudden, we understand what freedom

  129. is, what life is, what his power is, how

  130. he moves. And that's what we're going to

  131. look at today. So spirit and fire, you

  132. need power to stand. Number one this

  133. morning, we're going to look at the

  134. pressure requires power you do not have

  135. on your own. I want to read verse 18 and

  136. 19 again. It says, "If the world hates

  137. you, know that it has hated me before it

  138. hated you. If you were of the world, the

  139. world would love you as its own. But

  140. because you are not of the world, but I

  141. chose you out of the world, therefore

  142. the world hates you." Woo! Pressure

  143. requires power you do not have on your

  144. own. And when I think about this and I

  145. think about the fact if you want to be

  146. loved, then you go the way the world is

  147. going. If you want the world to love

  148. you, then you do what culture would say,

  149. what society would say, what the people

  150. would say. And you could say, I'm going

  151. to turn on the news and pick which news

  152. brand I want. I'm going to do what they

  153. want. So all of these people will like

  154. what I do. And Jesus is saying that is

  155. not the way to go. instead that we must

  156. love him. We must love his word. We must

  157. love the truth of he who he is and know

  158. that there will be hatred towards us. We

  159. must know that pressure is going to

  160. arise. We must know that the life is

  161. going to be great in our freedom in

  162. Jesus. But also there's a difficulty

  163. because pressure requires power.

  164. Something we can't do on our own or

  165. experience in our own way. I think we

  166. see here that pressure exposes weakness.

  167. If the world hates you, it's going to

  168. there's there's weakness in in our life.

  169. We don't want that in our life. We want

  170. things to be good. We want everyone to

  171. like us. We want to just be able to fit

  172. in. Many of us, we just want to go

  173. underneath the radar. But when we walk

  174. in the Lord, that's not what we're

  175. asking asked to do. And pressure will

  176. rise. We realize that pressure, it

  177. reveals identity. Pressure is something

  178. that all of a sudden who am I and who's

  179. am I? Because it says you are not of the

  180. world. And when I begin to realize, oh,

  181. when I'm walking in the power of God,

  182. the pressure of the world, it's not me

  183. and my strength, but I walk in the one

  184. in the world of of God. I choose

  185. to be out of this world as Jesus called

  186. us. There's pressure. Pressure demands

  187. strength. beyond our natural capacity

  188. says that the world will hate us like it

  189. hated him.

  190. There will be struggle. And when I think

  191. about life and I think about the

  192. difficulties of life and I think about

  193. pressure, maybe in marriages or maybe in

  194. relationships, maybe just pressure in

  195. finances, pressure in the things of

  196. life, but maybe we even take it a step

  197. further and pressure in things that

  198. maybe we don't even want to be a part of

  199. our life. Maybe there's an addiction or

  200. something that no one else even knows

  201. about or very few people know about, but

  202. we hold on to it and we wish we could

  203. get rid of it. But when pressure rises,

  204. those things kind of take control and it

  205. we don't have the ability, the the

  206. personal strength to overcome those

  207. things.

  208. We can maybe realize in certain areas

  209. that there's pressure that has us bound

  210. and when pressure arises, things that I

  211. don't want and that I don't want to be a

  212. part of me begin to rise to the surface.

  213. You know, when I think about most

  214. Christians and followers of Jesus,

  215. there's not many followers of Jesus,

  216. maybe any that I've ever talked to who

  217. just were, I love Jesus, and the next

  218. day like, hey, I don't I don't love

  219. Jesus anymore. I don't care about Jesus

  220. anymore. That's not normally how it

  221. goes. They don't stop believing.

  222. But Christians, we can fall because

  223. pressure drains us and we don't have the

  224. power to stand. We don't have the power

  225. to remain true. We don't have the the

  226. power to remain in his word and in what

  227. he would speak to us.

  228. You know, I think a big key of this is

  229. realizing that discipline in our life,

  230. this might go in the face of some things

  231. that are spoken elsewhere, but

  232. discipline

  233. alone is not enough.

  234. Discipline alone is not going to get you

  235. where you want to go. Discip discipline

  236. alone or conviction is not enough. Good

  237. intentions, church, are not enough. What

  238. I want to do is not enough.

  239. Church, we're in a place where like the

  240. disciples, we need the power of God.

  241. Because the disciples could not stand in

  242. John 18, what we looked at a few weeks

  243. ago, they couldn't do it on their own.

  244. But when they get to Acts chapter 4,

    Acts 4 chapter mention

  245. they stand up in Acts chapter 2 and all

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  246. throughout the New Testament, they stand

  247. up. They rise to the occasion. And the

  248. power of God flows through them even

  249. when there's discomfort or danger or

  250. fear that is still there. And they

  251. didn't change because pressure changed

  252. or their discipline changed. They

  253. changed because power had arrived.

  254. And so when I think of this, you might

  255. be like, "This is the most depressing

  256. beginning of a sermon ever." Like we

  257. don't we're not good enough. We don't

  258. have it. We don't have the enough

  259. strength. We can't do it. There's too

  260. much pressure in our life. And I want

  261. someone to really clearly get it. If

  262. you're trying to do it in your own

  263. power, your own strength, your own

  264. authority, your own wisdom, that's

  265. exactly true. You cannot accomplish what

  266. God has for you. And when we step back

  267. and say, "Lord, I don't want to do it

  268. anymore. I don't want to be the one

  269. that's holding the load. I don't want to

  270. be the one that's carrying everything,

  271. but I want to walk in you and your

  272. goodness and your truth." Then

  273. everything begins to change. And we see

  274. here in in John chapter 15, those next

    John 15 chapter mention

  275. few verses Jesus is talking about the

  276. truth has been spoken and people are

  277. held accountable to that truth and they

  278. need him and they need the goodness of

  279. God. And it gets all the way up to to

  280. verse 26. And in verse 26, we see that

  281. it's not us and it's not our strength

  282. and it's not our power. But it says,

  283. "But when the ho the helper comes whom I

  284. will send to you from the father, the

  285. spirit of truth who proceeds from the

  286. father, he will bear witness about me."

  287. What does this mean? The helper, he

  288. doesn't just comfort you, but he

  289. strengthens

  290. you. Jesus knows what fear feels like.

  291. He knows what pressure is coming our

  292. way. And he knows encouragement alone

  293. will not be enough. So he promises the

  294. helper, not advice, not motivation, not

  295. inspiration, but he promises power. Now

  296. when I think about this and you think

  297. about the spirit and you think about

  298. people and maybe culture and our our

  299. life, comfort, uh these things I

  300. mentioned, advice, motivation,

  301. inspiration, I normally like I don't

  302. know about advice sometimes, Pastor

  303. Matt. sometimes advice. I'm like, h, I'm

  304. not sure about that advice. But I love

  305. being motivated. I love being inspired.

  306. I love some things in my life. But

  307. sometimes we're looking for the people

  308. and the situations around us just to

  309. pump us up. You can do it. YOU'VE GOT

  310. IT. YOU'VE GOT WHAT you need. You can

  311. make it happen. Sometimes we're looking

  312. for people to just give us enough

  313. advice. If I just know enough, if I just

  314. experience enough, I'll be able to get

  315. to the other side. Sometimes we're like,

  316. "Okay, I've got it. I understand. Now, I

  317. just need to get some motivation. Maybe

  318. you're going to go into your boss and

  319. ask for a raise and you're like, okay,

  320. I've got motivation, but I need some

  321. inspiration. I got to get pumped up

  322. here. Maybe you drink a, you know, a Red

  323. Bull or a Monster or whatever it is, and

  324. you're like, I'm going to do this. You

  325. got to get pumped up. But I want you to

  326. know in our life, in our walk with the

  327. Lord, just being pumped up, just having

  328. in some advice, just having some

  329. thoughts of this is what I can do or

  330. this is how I can make it happen. And

  331. that might include a counselor or

  332. friends or an accountability group,

  333. great things that we might need in our

  334. life. But if I'm looking for everything

  335. to come from a person, from advice, from

  336. inspiration, I'm going to fall short

  337. because Jesus tells them the helper is

  338. on the way, going to come from the

  339. father and he will bear witness about

  340. me. He is the one that's going to give

  341. this power to accomplish. He is the one

  342. that's going to help you do what you

  343. want to do and what God has called you

  344. to be.

  345. And you notice he doesn't say a helper.

  346. Once again, it's not a thing. It's not

  347. an opportunity, but the helper will

  348. come. And that church is what we need.

  349. We need the helper, the Holy Spirit to

  350. move in our life. He's not a solution.

  351. He's not an option. He's not something

  352. we can walk in. But church, we need the

  353. spirit of God. We have to have him. He

  354. strengthens you. He doesn't only comfort

  355. you. It's not re emotional re assurance.

  356. It's not only divine reinforcement.

  357. Jesus is saying what you're about to

  358. face requires more than comfort. It

  359. requires power from outside

  360. of yourself.

  361. And I hope today you begin to say,

  362. "Okay, I can't do it on my own." I've

  363. shown that probably you could give an

  364. option or a thing or two or maybe even

  365. an area right now in your life. You're

  366. like, "I can't do it on my own. I can't

  367. get out of my own way. I can't get rid

  368. of the attitude. I can't get rid of what

  369. I say. I can't get rid of this

  370. addiction. I can't get rid of this anger

  371. problem I've had or or or I just can't

  372. get the boldness to walk in the Lord."

  373. Today you're free because the power of

  374. of the spirit, the helper. He wants to

  375. empower you. Not only encourage you, but

  376. empower you whom will be sent from the

  377. father to walk in his goodness

  378. to do what you want to accomplish to see

  379. the power of God work through you. He

  380. doesn't just help us endure pressure. He

  381. does. Jesus doesn't. But he says there's

  382. one coming who will be all that you

  383. need. And when I look at the word of God

  384. and I look at John chapter 15 and John

John 15 chapter mention John 18 chapter mention

  385. chapter 18, the disciples Peter, they

  386. they start to run. They start to not

  387. deny Jesus. They just start they start

  388. to go the other direction from what they

  389. believe and what their convictions and

  390. what their hearts are. They know what is

  391. right. They believe in Jesus.

  392. But pre Acts chapter 2, pre the spirit

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  393. being poured out, the disciples find

  394. themselves in locked in behind locked

  395. doors. They find themselves with fear

  396. dictating their decisions. They find

  397. themselves silent because it feels way

  398. safer

  399. than sharing and then obedience in who

  400. God has for them. There's this moment of

  401. they need, but after Pentecost, where

  402. we're going to be going in the next

  403. couple of weeks, they speak openly. In

  404. fact, so openly that 3,000 people at one

  405. time could come to know Jesus. I'm I'm

  406. not the best math expert in the room,

  407. but if 3,000 people at least gave their

  408. life to Jesus, Mike, that means over

  409. 3,000 people had to be there, right?

  410. Maybe double. It could have been six. It

  411. could have been 10,000. They just were

  412. hiding in an upper room. They just were

  413. hiding. The Holy Spirit is poured out

  414. and now they've got a crowd and they're

  415. not afraid. and they begin to share the

  416. power of Jesus.

  417. You know what I find interesting?

  418. Pressure did not decrease after the

  419. spirit came after Jesus left. And in

  420. fact, I would say pressure increased. It

  421. only got more and more. But fear in

  422. their life decreased.

  423. How do we have pressure and even more

  424. opportunity fear come? But we have it

  425. decrease in our heart and our life

  426. because of power of the Holy Spirit.

  427. and their witness. It became

  428. unavoidable.

  429. Read Acts. And over and over and over

  430. they began to share and began to share

  431. at different locations at different

  432. places. Literally taking their gospel to

  433. places it had never been taking the

  434. gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing about

  435. the culture changed. Nothing about the

  436. threat level changed. But their power

  437. level changed because the helper came.

  438. And he didn't remove danger, but he

  439. removed fierce control over their life.

  440. He removed what they couldn't do and

  441. gave them what they could. And they

  442. could walk in the power of God in such a

  443. way that they could walk right through

  444. the situations, right through the fear,

  445. right through the dangers to see the

  446. early church explode.

  447. The same people who just had said, "I

  448. don't know the man." That guy Peter, he

  449. led the church with power and with

  450. authority.

  451. The helper never comes empty-handed

  452. because power always produces witness.

  453. And I want to hear I want you to hear it

  454. one more time. He doesn't come and just

  455. move and say, "Woo, I got some good

  456. feelings in my heart." But he comes and

  457. he gives you strength and power for the

  458. next season and the next moment and the

  459. next thing and the next calling. He

  460. gives you power to see that addiction in

  461. your life broke off. Not because you're

  462. great, but because he's great. He gives

  463. you what you need. And sometimes he may

  464. heal and restore. And that addiction be

  465. gone in one moment. It might happen at

  466. an altar, at a prayer time, or with a

  467. brother or sister just asking, or maybe

  468. in the quiet of your bedroom or of your

  469. living room. But other times, he gives

  470. us what we need by giving us wisdom and

  471. power to consistently say no. To

  472. consistently say, "I'm going to put

  473. people around me. They're going to help

  474. guide me and direct me. They're going to

  475. put people around me. They're going to

  476. help me. In fact, first service my dad,

  477. he was sitting right up here in the

  478. front and there's been a couple times

  479. and I was thinking of it. I don't think

  480. anytime recently. And in fact, I can't

  481. remember when the last time he did this,

  482. but there's been a few times in my life

  483. where he's like, "No, you're wrong." And

  484. I'm like, "Oh." And it's like, "Yes, I

  485. am." I was like the voice of the Lord

  486. like, "Yes, I am." We need people. But

  487. then we need the power of the spirit to

  488. help us say, "You know what? You're

  489. right.

  490. That's not the right way to go. That's

  491. not the right thing to do. And now I'm

  492. going to put brothers and sisters around

  493. me to help me walk in the power of the

  494. spirit. Not on my own strength, but when

  495. I come and I'm obedient to him, anything

  496. is possible.

  497. Someone needs to hear it again. The Holy

  498. Spirit, the helper, doesn't come just to

  499. comfort you. Although thankfully he does

  500. do that, he comes to strengthen you and

  501. to give you power to do what you could

  502. not do on your own.

  503. Last verse here of John chap 15 verse 27

  504. it says and you also will bear bear

  505. witness because you have been with me

  506. from the beginning. You know when I look

  507. at that specific verse a couple of

  508. things just jump out at me. First of

  509. all, witness is not optional. I It says

  510. you will bear witness. Like that is just

  511. something that is a part of a Christ

  512. follower. It's what we need to be a

  513. part. It's who we are. We let him work

  514. in us, transform us, save us, literally

  515. give us salvation, his grace, and his

  516. mercy. And then we must be people that

  517. bear witness.

  518. Another thing we see here is

  519. listen real close. I don't think this is

  520. heresy, but experience with Jesus is not

  521. enough. It's not the same as power from

  522. the spirit. We might be able to get to

  523. heaven just experiencing Jesus, but if

  524. you want to have a life of power, of

  525. authority, of strength, Jesus says

  526. because you've been with me from the

  527. beginning. But before that, he says,

  528. "You need the power of God. You're going

  529. to bear witness because you're with

  530. Jesus. But you need the Holy Spirit, the

  531. helper, the comforter, the one that

  532. empowers us to accomplish the work of

  533. the Lord. Which means, church, it's not

  534. enough to only experience Jesus. We need

  535. to experience him and consistently

  536. experience him. And then as he changes

  537. us and molds us and makes us, then we

  538. step out in the power of the spirit to

  539. accomplish what he's called us to

  540. accomplish. There's witness that is

  541. poured in us. There's power that is

  542. poured in poured in us.

  543. The disciples had been with Jesus. They

  544. had heard his teaching. They had seen

  545. his miracles. Like just not we get to

  546. read it and believe it. Absolutely. They

  547. saw it with their own eyes. They saw

  548. bread turn into a basket full after

  549. feeding 5,000 just a couple of loaves.

  550. They saw people rise from the dead. They

  551. saw Lazarus literally come out. He

  552. should have been stinking. And he came

  553. out alive and well. He they they saw it

  554. all.

  555. They experienced his love, his grace,

  556. his mercy. They had experienced it all.

  557. And Jesus said, "You need the power of

  558. the helper in your life."

  559. Which means, Lord, I'm so thankful. We

  560. get to experience you as salvation. But

  561. Lord, I need more. I need more. You tell

  562. me I need more.

  563. And power is the missing ingredient that

  564. turns fear into boldness. the power of

  565. the Holy Spirit.

  566. It's what takes this chapter. It's what

  567. takes these next couple and few chapters

  568. in John and the disciples doing the

  569. wrong things and going the wrong ways

  570. and denying and running and hiding to an

  571. Acts two church where they speak boldly

  572. and with power and they're not afraid to

  573. even go to death to be martyed. They

  574. don't care. They're going to serve their

  575. God and their king because they walked

  576. in power.

  577. pre- Pentecost disciples, they have

  578. sincere hearts, but they're silent.

  579. They're loyal, but they are terrified.

  580. They're convinced by Jesus, but they're

  581. also cautious. They don't know what to

  582. do and where to go. But after Pentecost,

  583. they speak boldly. They confront

  584. authority, the authorities, and they do

  585. it with authority. They testify under

  586. pressure because it's not them and their

  587. strength and their goodness, but it's

  588. the power of God moving through them.

  589. Church,

  590. Pastor Rachel, as you guys come back up

  591. here, the difference, it wasn't courage

  592. training. They didn't have a training

  593. boot camp on h being courageous and just

  594. being a little bit stronger. It was

  595. spiritfilling

  596. power. It did not come to make them

  597. charismatic. It's not about you if you

  598. are in fact a witness requires power,

  599. not personality. You growing in God

  600. isn't about how strong or disciplined,

  601. how amazing you are, but it's about how

  602. willing you are to let the spirit of God

  603. move in you and be your helper. It's

  604. about letting him change you and

  605. transform you. And you might be the most

  606. introverted, quiet person, but if God

  607. calls you to stand up and to be bold, he

  608. will fill you with the power to

  609. accomplish what only he could do through

  610. you. If he's the one who would call us

  611. from darkness to light, from sin to

  612. purity, guess what? You can't do it on

  613. your own. But the power of the spirit

  614. working through you, he can accomplish

  615. it in your life. He can bring healing

  616. and wholeness. Addiction can be gone

  617. even if it's been with you for your

  618. entire life. I don't care if it's

  619. pornography or if it's drugs or if it's

  620. some sort of alcohol. I don't care if

  621. it's something to just suppress the pain

  622. in your life. He's the one that can

  623. bring healing. And I believe in all of

  624. the things. And I believe in counselors

  625. and accountability groups for sure. And

  626. I believe in getting in small groups. In

  627. fact, we believe it's a part of

  628. disciplehip. But if all we do is hope

  629. that this person just maybe or maybe I

  630. find the right person to give me what I

  631. need so I can accomplish it. church.

  632. We're looking for it in the wrong place.

  633. It's not about a person. It's about the

  634. power of the spirit that Jesus said,

  635. "I'm going to go." But it's going to be

  636. better.

  637. What?

  638. It's better. But if we try to do it in

  639. our own self or even just saying, "Wow,

  640. Jesus, you're so good. My relationship

  641. with you so good." But we miss the

  642. power. Then we might have great

  643. experience and great moments and heaven

  644. will be great, but we're going to miss

  645. all that he's called us to do because

  646. we're never going to step out. Because

  647. we have to have the power of the spirit

  648. in our life.

  649. Everything Jesus promises finds

  650. fulfillment in Acts chapter 2.

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  651. Those same disciples who could not stand

  652. in John 18 boldly stand up in Acts

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  653. chapter 2. The same Peter who denied

  654. Jesus preaches him publicly and becomes

  655. the leader of the church in a place in

  656. time where it was incredibly dangerous.

  657. The same group that hid now cannot be

  658. silenced.

  659. Not because of their discipline,

  660. not because pressure disappeared, but

  661. because of the power of the helper of

  662. the Holy Spirit who had arrived.

  663. today and then the next two Sundays,

  664. we're going to spend time asking the

  665. Holy Spirit to come to be poured out in

  666. our life. We're going to ask the spirit

  667. to move. And I'm believing that Acts

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  668. chapter 2, and we're going to look at it

  669. next Sunday morning,

  670. tongues and interpretation, but tongues,

  671. spirit infilling, that that shows us,

  672. church, that we're going to be filled in

  673. a new way. And if you're like, "This is

  674. new to I encourage you get into Acts

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  675. chapter 2. Let read it, meditate it,

  676. read the first four chapters a few

  677. times. Read that whole book. Let the

  678. word of God become real to you. Let

  679. faith arise because it doesn't come from

  680. me speaking or anybody's words. It comes

  681. from the word of God. And you spend time

  682. asking him, Lord, what's this Holy

  683. Spirit? How do you want to move? And

  684. then when you come to church next Sunday

  685. and the following Sunday, woo, you're

  686. going to experience him in a new way. In

  687. fact, you might experience him prior to

  688. coming to church. You might fly in here,

  689. not literally, but figuratively, right?

  690. You might be in the spirit. You're

  691. flying because the Lord would speak. Not

  692. He doesn't have to do it here in this

  693. altar. He wants to meet you in your car

  694. on the way to work, in your bedroom, in

  695. your living room, in your place of

  696. prayer. He wants to meet you. And so,

  697. don't wait for next Sunday. Begin to ask

  698. him. Begin to pray. Begin to meditate.

  699. And watch as he begins to fill you with

  700. something new, a new boldness, a new

  701. power.

  702. church, you begin to ask. And when we

  703. see Acts chapter 2, I pray, Lord, I want

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  704. everything you have. And Jesus had gone

  705. to heaven, but the church didn't push

  706. back or didn't retreat. The exact

  707. opposite. The church began to reach out,

  708. began to go deeper, began to experience

  709. his power. That's what we are called to

  710. do. And so today, as we close, we're

  711. going to spend some moments just in his

  712. presence. We're going to have our prayer

  713. teams in a few minutes. They're going to

  714. come up. And when they do, we're going

  715. to pray and believe for healings and for

  716. God to set people free and to do

  717. something mighty. But we're also just

  718. maybe today you need to ask him, Lord,

  719. would you fill me with your spirit aresh

  720. and a new Lord, would you put your

  721. spirit in me in a new way? Or maybe

  722. you've never asked the spirit to move in

  723. your life. Today would be a great day

  724. just to start asking, Lord, I offer you

  725. every part of who I am. He'll begin to

  726. speak. He'll begin to move.

  727. You know, before we do that, before we

  728. come to the altar, if you're here today

  729. and you say, "I've never made Jesus the

  730. Lord of my life.

  731. I've never said,"I want you to rule

  732. every part of me. There's nothing

  733. better." That's why we're here to say

  734. yes to Jesus. In fact, out on our our

  735. thing out there says, "One more for

  736. Jesus as you come in." Big, huge, bold

  737. letters. Why? That is what this church

  738. is all about.

  739. If you say, "He's knocking on my heart."

  740. And today I want to say yes to Jesus,

  741. the savior of the universe. I want to

  742. say yes to him. I don't want to do this

  743. life alone. I don't want to try to carry

  744. the burden myself. I want to know him.

  745. And I want that Holy Spirit thing, too.

  746. But first, I need Jesus. I need his spir

  747. his presence. I need him in my life, his

  748. healing of my heart, his grace and his

  749. mercy.

  750. And I'm going to ask you today here in a

  751. moment to respond and say yes to Jesus.

  752. We're going to pray. We'll believe. But

  753. first, it's com confessing I need him.

  754. And if you're here and you say, "I need

  755. Jesus. I want to start a relationship

  756. where I've known him, but I've walked

  757. away and I want to rededicate my life to

  758. him." I'm going to ask you right now at

  759. the count of three just to raise your

  760. hand so I can see it. Then you'll be

  761. able to put it down. If you're here and

  762. you say, "I need Jesus." It's the most

  763. important thing you could do right now.

  764. One, two, three. Put your hand up if

  765. that's you. I'm just going to scan the

  766. room. Yes, sir. I see that hand.

  767. Anybody else in the right section?

  768. Join my brother today.

  769. What about in your left section today? I

  770. don't want to miss anybody. This is the

  771. most important thing. I'm going to stand

  772. back across one more time. Anybody?

  773. It's the most important thing we can do.

  774. Come on. Well, at least one today said

  775. yes to Jesus. And if you're at home

  776. today, it's what it's all about. And

  777. we're going to pray together. Then we're

  778. going to cheer you on cuz there's

  779. nothing better. If you're at home, all

  780. you have to do is ask him, "Repeat after

  781. me." Maybe you didn't raise your hand,

  782. but you say, "I need Jesus."

  783. Would you repeat after me this prayer,

  784. the prayer of salvation, saying, "I've

  785. I've sinned. I've messed up, but Jesus

  786. is the one that brings life." Let's as a

  787. church family repeat this together. Say,

  788. "Jesus,

  789. I believe in you and that you are the

  790. son of God.

  791. I believe you died

  792. and rose again

  793. today.

  794. I surrender my life

  795. to you.

  796. Forgive me.

  797. Cleanse me. Make me new.

  798. I choose to follow you from this day

  799. forward

  800. in Jesus name.

  801. Amen. Amen. Come on, let's give a round

  802. of applause this morning.

  803. He's so good. He's so good. And if you

  804. just said yes to Jesus, I invite you.

  805. Liz Clark, she's right up here. She has

  806. some information for you. She would love

  807. to just say hello, pray with you, talk

  808. with you, encourage you, be sure that

  809. you are connected to what God has. So, I

  810. would encourage you here in a moment

  811. when worship starts, come see her as a

  812. church, could we just stand to our feet

  813. right now all over this room? And if

  814. you're part of our prayer team, could

  815. you come? And if you're here and you

  816. need God to do something special, you

  817. need him to heal or restore or set free.

  818. Or maybe you just need the power of God

  819. in a new way. I'm going to invite you to

  820. come. Let our prayer team pray with you.

  821. And if you say, "Maybe I've never do

  822. that. I've done that before." All you

  823. have to do is come say, "Hey, my back

  824. it's got pain. Would you pray with me?"

  825. They'll pray. They'll believe. And we

  826. believe you're going to walk out praying

  827. pain free. Maybe you have cancer, a

  828. disease. Maybe you have a a relational

  829. problem. Say, "Hey, my brother, my

  830. sister and I, we've just been

  831. struggling." Come. They will pray with

  832. you. Maybe you got a financial need.

  833. Whatever it is today, come respond to

  834. Jesus. He's going to answer. And for all

  835. of us, maybe you need to come find a

  836. place at an altar. Just open your heart.

  837. Ask the helper. Lord, would you help me?

  838. Would you heal me? Would you set me

  839. free? Would you make me whole? Whatever

  840. it is, watch him do it. give you the

  841. power that you need to be the witness

  842. and the follower of Jesus that he has

  843. called you to be. So, let's open our

  844. hearts to him. Let's watch him move as

  845. we respond as we say yes. One more time,

  846. if you you want more information about

  847. Jesus or you just said yes to Jesus,

  848. come see Liz Clark. She would love to

  849. pray with you, believe with you,

  850. encourage you. Let's pray. Let's

  851. worship. Let's invite the spirit to show

  852. himself in our lives today.

  853. politics.

  854. Wanted a

  855. recognize the worth, the weight of your

  856. presence.

  857. Heaven on the earth to notice your

  858. beauty

  859. to feel you drawing near to witness your

  860. glory.

  861. We know that you are here.

  862. Holy Spirit of God,

  863. we surrender our hearts again.

  864. Move however you want. Right here in our

  865. midst, like a fire,

  866. like a whisper, like the wind. Move

  867. however you want. right here in our

  868. midst.

  869. Give us new language

  870. to speak your kingom come. Give us new

  871. vision

  872. to see your will be done. You have our

  873. attention.

  874. Holy atmosphere releasing your power.

  875. Holy

  876. is clear.

  877. Holy Spirit of God,

  878. we surrender our hearts again.

  879. However you want

  880. here in our

  881. like a fire

  882. like a whis like the wind.

  883. Oh, however you want right here in our

  884. midst. Holy Spirit of God.

  885. We surrender our hearts again.

  886. Move however you want. Right here in our

  887. midst like a fire.

  888. Like a whisper of life away. Move.

  889. However you want, right here in our

  890. midst.

  891. In our midst.

  892. In our midst. There is fire all

  893. consuming.

  894. In our midst

  895. there is oil of anointing

  896. in our midst. Fresh revival

  897. open heaven.

  898. In our midst, just imagine

  899. what could happen

  900. in our midst. There is fire all

  901. consuming

  902. in harvest.

  903. There is oil of anointing

  904. in harst.

  905. Fresh revival

  906. open heaven

  907. in harst.

  908. Just imagine

  909. what could happen.

  910. Just imagine

  911. what could happen. Just imagine.

  912. Holy Spirit of God,

  913. we surrender our hearts again.

  914. However you want right here in our

  915. fire.

  916. Heat. Heat. Heat.

  917. There's revival

  918. in heaven.

  919. Just imagine

  920. what could happen

  921. in our best.

  922. In our best

  923. Jesus.

  924. >> Jesus. That's our prayer. Lord, I pray

  925. that faith would arise and even when we

  926. think, Lord, of imagining the greatness

  927. of what you have, of who you are, Lord,

  928. you would do what only you can do. And

  929. we would just simply say yes to you. So,

  930. Holy Spirit, we ask you to move in our

  931. life. Not our strength, not our power,

  932. not our authority, but yours this week.

  933. yours this week, God, and we're thankful

  934. for it. We praise you. Let your people

  935. be empowered by the spirit of God. Come

  936. on, church. Our God is good today. He's

  937. good and he's moving. He's moving in

  938. your life. He's moving in your

  939. situation.

  940. I'm just so thankful for each of you.

  941. Just love each of you. Let the power of

  942. God go with you. And before we leave, I

  943. just want to encourage you. Wednesday

  944. night, we start that new foundations

  945. that was mentioned, three weeks. And if

  946. you're like, "Hey, I want to jump up in

  947. a a new place maybe of leadership here,

  948. just to get connected to the heart of

  949. God." Or maybe you're like, "I'm new to

  950. this whole Jesus thing. This is going to

  951. be just right from the beginning, who he

  952. is, what he's about. We're going to be

  953. talking about the Holy Spirit in this

  954. 3-week course and be talking about how

  955. we go and we are empowered by him. I

  956. want to encourage you, come Wednesday

  957. night, join us. We'll start in here in

  958. this room and then we'll break out to

  959. our adult Bible study and to

  960. foundations. Don't miss it. If you have

  961. kids, bring them. We have kids programs

  962. all over the building. Let the power of

  963. God move in your life as we go after

  964. him. There's nothing like it. And

  965. secondly, next week, water baptisms. I

  966. won't tell all that Pastor Matt said,
