Build What Outlives You Pt. 1 | Nate Ortiz | Radiant Life Church

It's a It's a great time to be in the

house of the Lord. Amen.

>> Okay. All right. We feeling good.

>> Okay. All right. Let's go. Listen, I I'm

super thankful for Pastor Matt and Liz.

Um last night they um I I truly believe

we have just some of the best uh youth

pastors. Can we give it up for them?

Pastor Matt and Liz. I

and we're thankful for even the the

groundwork that Pastor Matt Sullivan and

and Katherine have laid and and I it was

a great season in life. We you know Matt

and Liz are great friends of ours and we

went to their house but we just dropped

off our oldest for a middle school

hangout that they had last night and so

we just got to drop my oldest off and we

said all right see you. Right. And uh

they were having an amazing time. they

were uh just playing on, you know, games

in the yard, all that kind of stuff. And

so, um it was just an amazing time and

uh we're just thankful for what God is

doing in the young people here at

Radiant Life Church. And so, we have the

privilege, we are starting a new sermon

series today, and we are thankful. We're

continue. Pastor Chris and Pastor Rachel

will be back and we are thankful um for

that. And uh if you're taking notes,

today we are starting a a new sermon

series about legacy. All right? And so

when we think about legacy, that's a

that's a big word, right? We we you

know, if you're younger in the room, if

you're like, "Ah, you know, what's my

legacy? What does that really mean?" And

if we're maybe older in the room, we

maybe think about legacy a little bit

more. But God wants to build an internal

impact through your life. What he forms

in hidden places is meant to shape

families, in influence communities, and

point the world to him. You know,

building something worthwhile is not

always a smooth process. And we think

about your legacy. There's lots of

different things that go into that. When

you think about what is my life really

about? What am I building currently?

What will happen when I am gone or my

presence is removed from a situation?

What will people say about me? What will

be left about my life? And when we think

about building this legacy that we're

going to talk about, um, I I probably

started thinking more about my legacy in

my life as I I got married and and you

just you can have conversations, you

think about family. And so

for me, I'm not super great at like

keeping memories and different things

like that in my life. Like when I think

about, you know, my wife, she's way

better than I am. I mean, she has stuff

from say, "Oh, I had this this paper I

did, you know, when I was in third

grade." I'm like, "I literally have

nothing from third grade. I have

nothing. There's no record of it. I

don't know if I completed third grade."

Right? It's just we're just totally

different people. By then to think about

as I get older and for my boys, I think

like what, you know, obviously in a much

simpler sense, like what will be left?

Like what did they say? Hey, what did

dad leave me? Like I don't know. He left

you some Michael Jordan cards and a can

of Coke. I don't know. That's all that

was left. You know, it's like I just

never really like kept things. But when

I begin to think about my legacy, I I I

begin to say, "Lord, what are you going

to do through my life? What's going to

be left? What everything that I'm doing,

is it worthwhile?" And so when we think

about that this morning and we talk

about legacy,

I want to hit you with this thought that

when building a legacy, it starts in a

secret place. When you want to build

something that outlives you,

you have to say,"Lord,

what are you showing me? What are you

revealing to me?" And I'd like to submit

my first point that building a legacy

starts by following God's purpose. And

we're going to be in 1st Samuel chapter

16:es 1-13. And I may read a bit longer,

but uh 1st Samuel 16 verse 1, we'll

start. It said, "Now the Lord said to

Samuel, how long will you grieve over

Saul since I have rejected him from

being king over Israel? Fill your horn

with oil and go. I will send you to

Jesse the Bethleamite, for I have

selected a king for myself among his

sons." But Samuel said, "How can I go?

When Saul hears of it, he will kill me."

And the Lord said, "Take a hepher with

you and say, I have come to sacrifice to

the Lord. You shall invite Jesse to the

sacrifice, and I will show you what you

shall do, and you shall anoint for me

the one whom I designate to you." So

Samuel did what the Lord said and came

to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city

came trembling to meet him and said, "Do

you come in peace?" He said, "In peace,

I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.

Consecrate yourselves and come with me

to the sacrifice." He also consecrated

Jesse and his sons and invited them to

the sacrifice. When they entered, he

looked at Elab and thought, "Surely the

Lord's anointed is before him." But the

Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his

appearance or at the height of his

stature, because I have rejected him.

For God sees not as man sees. For man

looks at the outward appearance, but the

Lord looks at the heart." Then Jesus

called Abinadab and made him pass before

Samuel. and he said, "The Lord has not

chosen this one either." Next, Jesse

made Shama pass by, and he said, "The

Lord has not chosen this one either."

Thus, Jesse made seven of his sons pass

before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse,

"The Lord has not chosen these." And

Samuel said to Jesse, "Are these all the

children?" And he said, "There remains

yet the youngest, and behold, he is

tending the sheep." Then Samuel said to

Jesse, "Send and bring for him, for we

will not sit down until he comes here."

So he went and brought him in. Now he

was ready with a beautiful eyes and a

handsome appearance. And the Lord said,

"Arise, anoint him, for this is he."

Then Samuel took the horn of oil,

anointed him in the midst of his

brothers, and the spirit of the Lord

came mightily upon David from that day

forward. And Samuel arose and went to

Rama.

Now, I just want to pause right there

and I want to make a comment that if the

Bible says you're good-looking, you must

be really good-looking. That's a resume

builder. You're saying like, "Hey, I'm

just saying the Bible say I was

good-looking, so I must be

good-looking." Right?

But when we talk about legacy, it's not

built upon looks. It's not built upon

what people think, but it's about what

God is doing on the inside of you. In

summary, what we just read, right?

Samuel is struck in grief over Saul's

failure and God has to redirect him.

Right? How long will you mourn is what

God says to Samuel. God sends uh Samuel

to Bethlehem to anoint the next king

from Jesse's sons. One by one,

impressive men walk by and Samuel is

ready to crown them. But God stops him

every time. Then the forgotten son David

out in the field with the sheep, not

even invited to the gathering, is called

in. And God says that's the one.

Building a legacy starts by following

God's purpose. I want to submit this

thought to you that for for Saul uh for

for Samuel it was difficult. All right.

There was a plan that they they had

Samuel and God and and things shifted

and changed. And I don't know about you

but in our life we often want to show

God our plans. But God wants to give us

purpose.

We often think about what the plans that

we have for our life. Well, if I can do

this, then I will do this, then I will

do this, and God's blessing will be upon

me or I will finally be content and

happy in life. But God is not interested

in our bestlaid plans. Can I tell you

when we say, "God, here's my plan." And

you submit it to him, he's not saying,

"That's the best plan I've ever heard in

my life. We're just going to go with

that."

But if we're being honest, we say, "God,

here's my life, and I know you have

purpose for me. Allow me to lean into

your purpose and not trust my own plans.

That can be difficult, right? Plans feel

clear. They can be strategic and very

helpful." Here, here what I'm saying.

I'm not saying plans aren't helpful,

right? You know, you don't want to wing

it your whole life. Like, oh, what

what's God doing? I don't know. We're

just winging it. But you say, "Lord, I I

have an idea what you want me to do, but

allow me to stay faithful. Allow me to

stay true to what you are speaking to

me.

Allow me not to be so consumed about my

ideas and my trajectory, but allow me to

say, Lord, what are you speaking?

What are you saying to me?"

Plans are typically about outcomes we

can see. But purpose is about a design

only God fully understands.

As Samuel had to understand that he had

to follow God's purpose and understand

what what was happening. You know it's I

the question that you know can can be

hard to say God why why did this have to

happen or why did it have to go this

way? But God's ways and his plans are

are better than we can even understand

or comprehend. In Proverbs chapter 19

Proverbs 19:21

verse 21, it says, "You can make many

plans, but the Lord's purpose will

prevail."

Proverbs 19:20 uh uh one in the NASB

Proverbs 19:20

says, "Your plan, many plans are in a

man's heart, but the council of the Lord

will stand."

the purpose that God has for you is

going to outlive you. Right? When you

think about a legacy, you want something

that's going to outlive you, that's

going to impact people. And you have to

submit your plans to the Lord. And when

you begin to do that, your purpose

becomes a lot more clear in your

day-today activities. But you have to

trust him. You know, when plans don't go

the way we hoped, it can cause us to

focus on what was versus what could be.

Have you ever been there where you said,

"Lord, I I thought it was going to go

this way or I had this plan. I had it

all laid out. I had it in a binder. It

was colorcoded. I had graphs. I had all

these kind of things. And I I knew where

I was going, but this happened. And now

I'm kind of in a little bit of a tail

spin.

You know, to understand Samuel's

mourning, we need to go a little bit

back in the story. And not to unpack

Saul's full story, but for Samuel.

Samuel went to Saul. He he was anointed

to be king. God said, "This is the guy."

And Samuel's telling him, I mean, he's

head and shoulders above the rest. And

he was good-looking, too. Now, I have a

complex. I'm like, "You have to be tall

and good-looking to be used by God. But,

you know, 0 for two. What can you do?"

Right? And so, that's totally fine. But,

but Samuel's saying, "This is the person

that God has picked." And what

disqualified Saul from being the king.

And where Samuel had to then anoint

David. Well, Saul almost did everything

that God asked him to do.

Samuel spoke to Saul and said, "When you

go into this battle, you're not to take

anything with you. You're supposed to

just

not bring anything."

And Saul had a idea. Said, "Well, I'll

just take the good stuff and I'll do

good things with it." But that's not

what God asked Saul to do. That wasn't

the plan.

Saul went with a plan, but God's looking

for a greater purpose.

So Samuel had to lament this fact that

Saul was being disobedient. And it

wasn't about the actions, but it's about

what was in Saul's heart.

I don't know if you've ever been there,

but have you ever been in a place where

a plan went south and you found yourself

just trying to resuscitate the plan and

God's saying, "We got to move." And

you're there giving chest compressions

to your plan. We're we're going to

revive it. we can make it. And God say,

"No, no.

We're moving on."

That can be hard to say, "God, I I I I

thought we had a plan, but God's calling

you to greater purpose."

Saul wanted to look right in front of

the people. Right? So Saul, he looks at

Samuel, says, "I know I messed up, but

can you just stand with me so people

think I'm right?

You don't have to live your life say,

"Well, I I I just want to look right in

front of people. I want to walk into

church and just, you know, puff out my

chest and just be, how you doing?" "Oh,

I'm blessed and highly favored. I'm the

lender, not the borrower."

Praise God.

No.

But every moment that we live our lives,

God is moving us closer to his will if

we let him lead us. We don't have to be

like Saul to say, "Well, I want to look

right, even though I'm making choices

that are against God."

You know, Samuel may have had a

difficult time mourning Saul's choices.

But there was things that Saul was doing

that wasn't part of God's plan, and

Samuel had to let that go.

I love this quote from Corey Tenboom. It

says, "Never be afraid to trust an

unknown future to a known God."

And for Samuel, he was going to learn to

trust God's purpose.

I'd like to submit the second thought to

you this morning. We talk about building

a legacy. It doesn't require an

audience.

The legacy that you strive to build, it

starts small. It starts in the secret

places. It doesn't just happen because

you know people recognize it or they see

this greatness in you, but it happens

because you allow God to shape and to

mold you.

That can be difficult. There was a

season in my life where I didn't know

what God was going to do in my life. I I

I never I never had this idea of like

one day I want to be a pastor. And I

remember I'm like, could could I be a

pastor? Like I I began to doubt myself.

I'm like, I don't think I I don't think

I can do that. I don't I don't know if

that's what God has for me. And someone

just told me just pray. And I begin to

pray. And I begin to pray. And I'm not

just talking about I prayed in the

morning and I just 10 minutes. I mean, I

prayed hard to say, Lord, I need to know

this is you. If I'm stepping out, I'm

I'm going to honor you with my life. I

need to know this is you. And in those

moments, there wasn't there there wasn't

this audience that confirmed. They

didn't say, "Nate, we heard you

preaching. We you think we think you

should be a pastor or you nothing like

that." But it became in the quiet

places.

And when Samuel anointed Saul and David,

it was done privately. Because here's

the reality this morning is that God

doesn't need the approval of an

audience, but the obedience of one

heart. The obedience of one heart could

change generations.

Do you understand that? the obedience of

someone saying I want to see a shift and

change in my family and and you know

that that goes long beyond what I could

ever think or hope or imagine.

It doesn't require people to it's

approval but it just requires you saying

Lord I want everything that you have for

me. 1 Samuel chapter 6 verse 7 says

1 Samuel 6:7

uh don't look at his appearance or at

the height of his stature because I have

rejected him. For God sees not as man

sees. For man looks at the outward

appearance, but the Lord looks at the

heart.

Aren't you thankful this morning that

God

doesn't look at just what we are

currently, how people perceive us,

but he looks at our heart.

God sees the potential in us.

He doesn't say, "I could use you because

it seems like people like you or it

seems like people know you.

But have you ever been around a person

who just has spent time with God? I

truly believe they're some of the most

confident, bold people. Not because they

say, "Look at what people think about

me." But you've ever been around a

person who prays and they hear from the

Lord and they come with that boldness.

The kind of people that say, "I'm taking

it to prayer."

And when they pray, oh, they pray. I

mean, I can tell you there's times where

it's like I I've gone to an altar and

asked for prayer

and I, you know, you just feel defeated

sometimes. You just I just I I don't

know what to do. I need help. And then

you get with someone who's praying and

you you feel encouraged. You feel like,

oh my goodness, come on. They spent some

time with God. You're like, I can do

this. I, you know, I can I can get

myself going. And that's the kind of

boldness that we need. That's the kind

of boldness that David had. No one was

watching him out in the field. No one

saw what he was doing. It was just him,

the Lord, and some sheep and some

animals that he would kill along the

way. And there are there's a lesson to

be learned here that in the time that

you are building your legacy, it begins

now. Young people, it doesn't begin

later. It doesn't be begin when you

graduate college or you get married. It

begins right now where you are. They

say, "My legacy will be that I will

pursue Jesus. I will honor him with my

life. I will give him everything that I

have." There will be things that will

try to diminish what God wants to do in

your life and you will get distracted.

It will try to pull you away. But I'm

telling you, step into what God is

doing. Even if you're right now saying

you're you're raising your family and

you're doing just life,

don't don't get distracted with the

other things that don't really matter.

But be honest with yourself. What is God

doing in you that you could then share

with your family and speak life into

them?

What is God preparing in your heart?

Privately,

no one's around.

God doesn't need your vi visibility to

advance his work in you. Legacy gets

built in the seasons that feel forgotten

when you're overlooked, underestimated,

or maybe you're left out of rooms you

deserve to be in. David's greatest

qualification wasn't his resume.

It was his faithfulness in the field

when no one was keeping score. Imagine

David out in the field watching his

brothers go to the house and maybe say,

"Hey, hey, what's going on? Do I need to

be there?" No, you're good, man. You

stay there. Oh, okay.

And maybe it was his fourth brother, you

know, come. Hey, hey, I see more people.

You need me? No, no, no, Dave. This

ain't for you.

But little did he know that God saw his

heart when he was just worshiping and

doing what was asked of him.

You know, if I was David,

I would feel kind of left out. What's my

purpose? I feel like everyone's doing

greater things than than I am.

But I truly believe God builds his

greatest work in people that nobody has

noticed yet.

If you're in this room and you're

feeling like, man, my family's a mess.

I'm a mess. You talk about legacy. We're

just trying to keep it together, right?

Some of you, you know, you hear heard

that old phrase of like, and we put the

fun in dysfunctional, right? Like,

that's my family.

I don't think things are ever going to

change. I don't think things are going

to shift. But I want to encourage you,

be faithful.

You don't know what God has ahead. You

don't know the purpose he has for you or

your family,

but rely fully on him.

I'd like to submit my third point

is that building a legacy continues in

the ordinary.

Building continues in the ordinary.

Legacy isn't this giant thing that one

day you're ready for it and it happens.

But every day that you live, every day

that we live, you are building your

legacy.

I remember when I was growing up, I

mean, I just what's my legacy? Having

fun, living life. And not that I was

wild or anything like that, but it's

just like I'm just I'm just going 100

miles an hour. And you know, my my mom

would tell me, she would say, 'Nate,

you're burning the candle at both ends.

I'm like, I know. Isn't that great?

Instead of one candle, you have two.

She didn't see it that way, right? But I

began to think deeply about what is my

life really about? Is it about wearing

certain kind of clothes or feeling like

you're going to make a certain amount of

money? Is it about finding approval from

certain people? Well, maybe God has more

for me. And it's not about building up

for this one moment, but it's saying

every day that I live my life, I am

building my legacy. I'm living in my

purpose for God

right now. Everyone in Radiant Life

Church, we are building our legacy. And

we all want something that's going to

outlast us, outlive us.

And when David was anointed, it wasn't

an immediate promotion,

but it was an affirmation for him to

keep doing what he was doing.

I mean,

if David wasn't careful, right, there

maybe could have been some pride that

just crept up in David when Samuel's at

Jesse's house is saying, "Is there

anyone else? I've seen all your sons,

but is there anyone else?" And she's

like, "Yeah, we got I mean, David,

David's out in the field. I mean, you

can get David.

I mean, David could have walked in that

house and just been like, "Yeah, boys.

What's up now? Man of God wanted me."

You guys didn't want me, but now the man

of God wants me. You hear that? I'm

anointed to be king.

All right. I mean, is what? Like, you

know what? What comes with this? Do I

get like a ring? Do I got a special

cape? Do I get a special chair at the

table? Like, what what happens now that

I'm anointed to be king?

What happens?

I said, 'Well, you get to go back to the

field and do what you were already

doing.

Oh, okay. Okay,

but tomorrow then I get to be king. No,

no, no. You go back to doing what you

were doing.

Building a legacy happens in the

ordinary,

the everyday

who God is calling you to become.

Colossians 3:23 says this, "Whatever you

do, do your work heartily as for the

Lord rather than for men."

Legacy is not built in one moment but

all moments.

I think

one mistake that we can make is we want

to create a narrative for people that

they want to speak about our lives.

We want people to say, "Well, I mean,

you know, tell me I'm a good person or

tell me this or tell me I was this or

tell me." But truly, when you live your

life for the Lord and you are in this

the the center of God's will, when your

presence is removed from people's lives,

they will remember the impact that you

had.

And it comes in the ordinary day by day.

Challenge yourself. When's the last time

you told maybe your son or your daughter

that you love them? When's the last time

you prayed with a spouse or prayed as a

family?

That's part of legacy.

You have to think about these things

not just in the big moments.

We like to think about David's life.

David's life just,

you know, he took out Goliath. I mean,

that was amazing.

But God was preparing him in the field.

God was preparing him long before there

was a Goliath.

And sometimes we're waiting for the

Goliath to come so we can show how great

we are, show our legacy.

But really, it starts

being consistent.

You know, I

you know was talking about Colossians

chapter 3:23. Whatever you do, do your

work heartily as for the Lord rather

than for men. Whatever you do, we talk

about building your legacy. It's not

about you, but how do I honor the Lord

with my life? Because I can tell you

there's times where God will give you

something and you see the full picture.

You see from beginning to end, you're

saying, "I got it, God." And God, I want

to do all of it. And God's saying, "All

I need you to do is this." He say, "No,

no, no. I want to do all of it." He

says, "That's great. I hear you. But I

just need you to do this. Are we

obedient when it comes just to doing

this?"

And maybe people don't know your name.

People

forget your story,

but God knows.

And one day you'll be in heaven saying

thank you for your faithfulness in that

season. But because you were all this

has happened

and that's your legacy.

But we have to be faithful

in the ordinary.

We have to be faithful

to do what God is asking us to do.

I love this quote from Joe Lewis who big

in the boxing world. it. He says, "A

champion doesn't become a champion in

the ring. He's merely recognized in the

ring. His becoming happens during his

daily routine."

Who are you becoming through your daily

routines?

When you talk about growing your faith

and you think about your legacy, who are

you becoming with God?

You know, I'm going to ask the worship

team if they can come forward.

And I want to just um ask Yuka if she

can come forward uh as well

because we want to just share something

here,

a word of encouragement.

I would love to say that the legacy that

we desire, the things that we want to

see happen happen immediately. But as we

know, that's not always the case. It

doesn't always happen like that. There's

times where you have to say,"Lord, I'm

going to be faithful even though I don't

see the results. Lord, I'm going to be

faithful even though I feel left out.

I'm going to trust you."

And we always don't get to decide the

impact, but we do get to decide our

obedience. And I asked Yuka if she she

can come this the service and share her

story of how her faithfulness in just uh

what God was speaking to her, what he

did in her life impacted

her family. And I I and I hope this is

encouragement for you this morning is

that

the legacy that Yuka has in her family

and she doesn't view it this way, but it

was through her being obedient,

faithful, and what God was speaking to

her. She's served the Lord for 11 years,

is a huge part of this church, her and

her boys, and uh her story is just

inspiring, and I know it'll inspire you

this morning. So, Yuka, could you please

share?

So um when I was saved 11 years ago, I

had no way of reaching out to my family

physically and I didn't have a good

relationship with them either. So that's

where I had to start is like Lord Jesus

please help me mend my family

relationship because it was so broken.

And

after maybe four years or so, I got to

go back to Japan and meet my family. And

they were like, "Who are you?" Like,

"Why are you talking about Jesus all the

time?" And it's like, I was a weirdo in

my family. And because I was the first

person who became a Christian in the

line of I don't know how many generation

of idol worshippers. And so it was just

prayers through myself and my family and

my family mean my children and the small

group and all. And then but nothing

happened until maybe the year six or

seven when my grandmother

gave her life to Jesus and I didn't even

get to see it. Nobody heard it. Just

Jesus told me that she came to know the

Christ. uh my grandfather two years

later that he got saved on his deathbed

and last year my brother came to know

Jesus and

I asked him yesterday I wanted to know

why you came to know Christ. What what

was it that made you decide to follow

Jesus? And he said well he did something

in my life that I never see it possible

with my own strength. And I said praise

God. But in my heart, I was like, "Oh,

but I shared about Jesus so many times.

Like it wasn't me." Uh,

and he But the Holy Spirit told me that

he has to have a foundation that's based

on God, not about man. And so I thank

God for that. And I wanted to share a

scripture.

The Lord spoke to me this morning from

Isaiah 43:18 and 19. Remember ye not the

Isaiah 43:18

former things, neither consider the

things of old. Behold, I will do a new

thing, now it shall spring forth. Shall

we not know it? I will even make a way

in the wilderness and rivers in the

desert.

And as I was worshiping this morning,

the Lord showed me and spoke to me that

you see your bloodline was a wilderness.

It was a desert that nobody was saved.

Nobody had a wonderful life. It was just

so messed up. And then he made a pass in

the jungle that in my life and in my

family's life. And also, you know,

nothing good was growing in my family.

Everybody was fighting and all, you

know, poverty and all that things. And

then he started bearing fruits in my

life and my family's life. And

then he showed me an aerial picture of

like the thick forest and jungle from

like the above and I saw the straight

path that was going across and it there

were like the people like ants going

marching across forward it and he told

me that that's that can be your legacy

and my legacy too that the people will

be walking in the wilderness because he

makes the way for you. So um

he says on this verse says shall we not

know it

and I didn't know it but he gave me a

revelation today and I know if you have

a messed up family like me and you might

not see it yet but the Holy Spirit can

show you that he is making the way for

your wilderness.

>> Amen. Can we God praise?

And if you can this morning, if you

would just please stand this morning,

before we close out in prayer and in

worship, um I'm going to ask the prayer

team if they can come forward.

But when think about legacy this

morning, and I understand we have a wide

range of ages in the room,

but I just want to bring some

encouragement to you.

If you're young in this room, don't feel

like legacy is something that you worry

about later in life. It's something that

you develop right now.

Right now.

because God is going to prepare and do

things in your heart and in your life.

And maybe if you're advanced in years

and you feel like I I I feel like I've

too much time has gone by. I feel like

it's too late to change things. Things

are just what they are. I encourage you

stay faithful in the place of prayer

to build something out lives you. Give

it to God our eternal heavenly father

and saying, "Lord, I trust you. Even

though I may not see the results that I

want in this time, I'm believing you and

trusting you,

that you're going to do something that

outlives me.

Whether it's family situations or things

in your own life, let's trust God this

morning. So with every head bowed, every

eye closed,

I want to remind you

that legacy in scripture is almost about

what people who plant seeds, they never

fully harvested. They never fully

harvested all those seeds that were

planted. That's the nature of

faithfulness. You build a future that

outlives you.

What are you building right now in

private? What is God doing in your life?

If you think about it biblically, you

Abraham didn't see the nation he

fathered. Moses didn't enter the land he

led the people toward. And David was

anointed king long before he sat on a

throne.

Before we open up these altars and

worship, I just want to take a moment

here. If you're here in this room and

you think about what are you building

and maybe I've been building my life on

sand, not a firm foundation and I need

to accept Christ in my life. I need to

trust him as Lord. Recognize I'm a

sinner and I'm separated from him and I

must receive him. His death, burial, and

resurrection that today I have eternal

life with him. If that's you in this

room, whether you need to rededicate

your life or you are accepting Christ

for the very first time, we want to

connect with you and give you something

in your hand. We're not going to do

anything to embarrass you, but we want

to give this opportunity. If that's you

in this room, can you just slip your

hand up?

We just want to take this moment.

Okay.

For all of us in this room this morning,

you're maybe struggling with what God is

building. You may not see the path

forward.

You might be feeling just discouraged.

I believe that God is doing a great work

within all of us. But you might need

some prayer. You might need some

encouragement.

Father, we just pray for every person

that's in that place battling, feeling

regret, feeling shame, feeling isolated,

feeling not seen. Lord, I pray that you

would speak to their hearts. Lord, I

pray that you would be Lord the good

shepherd. lead them

towards the still waters. Restore their

soul this morning.

That Lord, you are not done. You are not

through yet. Lord, that no person will

receive that lie of the enemy.

Lord, speak to our hearts now as we

enter in this time of worship and

prayer. Your holy name we pray. Amen.

Amen. As we worship God, these altars

are open. If you want prayer this

This morning, church, as we go

throughout our week, I challenge you

take a moment. What what are you

building in private in the secret spaces

of your life?

>> Are we taking things to prayer? Are we

trusting God when our plans don't come

together? We say, "Lord, I just want

your purpose for my life, for those who

are around me."

Don't try to outthink God,

but just walk with him. Be with him in

those places like David was. David was

going to change a nation, but it started

with worshiping God in a field watching

sheep.

So, let's go throughout this week coming

into next week as Pastor Chris continues

the sermon series and asking ourselves,

what are we building that's going to

outlast us?

So, right now, let's just close our

heads in prayer. Bow our heads in prayer

and close our eyes. Father,

we submit everything we are to you.

everything. Lord, our greatest legacy is

not how much we have on this earth, but

Lord, it's what we give to you. It's

what we surrender to you. Lord, help us

to strip everything that's not of you,

that's not of your purpose, not of your

will, and seek you, seek your hand, seek

your face, Lord, for guidance and

direction. Lord, we thank you for what

you're doing in the hearts of every

person here. We thank you for what's

taking place at Radiant Life Church. And

Lord, we know that you are doing

something greater than we could ever

think or imagine, Lord, as a church and

as individuals and in our families.

Father, we love you and we thank you for

your graciousness to us to walk this

life out. Even when it's hard, even when

it's difficult, you are faithful, Lord.

We love you and we praise you. And all

of God's people said, "Amen." And amen.
