  1. Now, recently we've been talking about

  2. our discover a rad life journey. And

  3. it's been great because uh Pastor Adam

  4. jumped in right when he could start kind

  5. of having a part in that and and be in

  6. some of our meetings and some of our

  7. conversations because we believe so

  8. strongly as was just mentioned that all

  9. of us are called to grow in who God has

  10. called us to be to be everything that

  11. the Lord would have us to be. And that

  12. is an incremental stepby-step process as

  13. we say, "Lord, I want to be more like

  14. you. I want to be a disciple and I want

  15. to raise up people behind me to be a

  16. disciple. And so when we think about

  17. life and we think about ministry, when

  18. we think about the rad fam and we think

  19. about the processes out on the walls on

  20. the website, you can find it trying to

  21. make it everywhere so you can't miss it.

  22. Right? We are in a place where we want

  23. to answer how can we connect? We come to

  24. church, right? This is a a big part of

  25. it. We get to worship together, but also

  26. we come to new to radiant. we come to

  27. new to Jesus when we're starting that

  28. journey and maybe you need to take one

  29. of those steps then we are all in a

  30. place where hopefully we're going to

  31. take a step of growth and say Lord where

  32. do I go from here right when we think of

  33. growth we serve on a team this morning

  34. we gathered together as our serve teams

  35. this morning and talked about a little

  36. bit where we're going to talk about

  37. exciting things of what God is doing

  38. we're going to grow in serving we're

  39. going to grow in life groups coming up

  40. here this Saturday as was mentioned

  41. don't miss it come out if you don't have

  42. a group you You don't have to. That's

  43. all right. You can get plugged in and

  44. just spend a great day watching a

  45. football game here on on Saturday. Uh,

  46. right. You can be in a group as well as

  47. midweek disciplehip. This last week, we

  48. got to be all over the building. Pastor

  49. Rachel and I see a bunch of classes, the

  50. students. But in this room, uh, are the

  51. adults and even as we go forward, the

  52. different opportunities we want to be

  53. discipled to be more like Jesus. So,

  54. we're going to grow in serving in life

  55. groups. We're going to grow in midweek.

  56. The next step of that is how do we lead?

  57. Here at Radiant Life Church, we go

  58. through Bible foundations, right? We we

  59. need to know who we are, what we believe

  60. at the base level and then we jump into

  61. leadership training and as time goes on

  62. into ministry electives, right? We want

  63. to see how are we incrementally growing

  64. and walking and becoming more like Jesus

  65. that we all are in a place of Lord, let

  66. us grow. We step into that place of let

  67. us lead. But that leads us to our last

  68. part of our discover rad life journey,

  69. which is how to live. Now, this one, I

  70. think, is maybe the most difficult. I'm

  71. going to say for me, it's the most

  72. difficult, right? Like, oh, I got it.

  73. Here's some things I have to do. But

  74. anybody ever struggle with the how to

  75. live part of your life. Like, every once

  76. in a while, there's a few. Thank you.

  77. Some front row people, they're being

  78. honest. Everyone else, you've got it

  79. pretty figured out, I think. But, right,

  80. how to live is hard, right? We try. You

  81. want to do what God has for you. It's

  82. like, Lord, help me. But then life gets

  83. in the way. Things happen. Situations

  84. come. Family members don't respond like

  85. you thought they would. Family uh our

  86. people in our neighborhoods or our job

  87. or we lose our job. And it's like Lord,

  88. what do we do? And so when we think of

  89. how we live, we've got five values that

  90. we believe are right there that we need

  91. to walk and we need to live out. And the

  92. first is the Bible. Everything goes back

  93. to the word of God. Right? This is what

  94. our life is built on. Not my feelings or

  95. emotions or or what the culture would

  96. say but what does the word say? We then

  97. second say Holy Spirit we have to rely

  98. on you everyone. We need to be empowered

  99. by the spirit of God. What's that mean

  100. church? I can't do it on my own. I can't

  101. even try it on my own. So Lord I need

  102. you. Let me walk in your spirit. And I

  103. pray that's what every one of us in our

  104. walk with Jesus is Lord let me be

  105. empowered by you and by your spirit. The

  106. third value is family. Last week we

  107. talked about family and not only maybe

  108. our personal family, but I'm talking

  109. about us as the church family that we

  110. are the rad fam and everyone has a place

  111. in the rad fam. Last week we talked

  112. about some of our personal family

  113. situations were difficult and we think

  114. of family and that's like ah that I

  115. don't even I don't even know about that.

  116. Well, guess what? Sometimes in the

  117. church people mess up too. People don't

  118. always get it right. I talk about it

  119. quite often. Just stay around long

  120. enough. Someone around you will make you

  121. mad or I'll make you mad. Like we'll

  122. figure it out. Be sure that everyone

  123. equal opportunity. But we're the family.

  124. And when we grow together and we say

  125. this is what God has called us to and

  126. we're going to seek Jesus together, all

  127. of a sudden we realize we are better

  128. when we're a part of the family of God

  129. and the church family, our local body

  130. that God has put us in. And we get to

  131. grow together to be like Jesus. And that

  132. fourth one today is we're going to look

  133. at students. We invest in the next

  134. generation. And just so you know, next

  135. week we're going to talk about missions

  136. and people come to know Jesus. And our

  137. radfam funday is going to be a blast.

  138. You do not want to m miss it. Bring

  139. somebody along with you. When we think

  140. about the value of students, when we

  141. think about the value of Lord, we're not

  142. only just going to be a bunch of mature

  143. mature Christians who maybe are a little

  144. later in life, but we want energy and

  145. excitement and crazy that come with

  146. kids. We also want new believers, new

  147. followers of Jesus. Adam, you said it so

  148. well. If you're new, new to Jesus, woo,

  149. this is perfect. Like, we've got you,

  150. right? We need people that are amongst

  151. us that not only have known the Lord for

  152. many many many decades like seven like

  153. my dad or so give or take a year or two

  154. right or maybe those who you've just

  155. said I'm not even sure yet. You're you

  156. wouldn't even call yourself a follower

  157. of Jesus. We must be open to people who

  158. are like I'm not sure but I'm trying to

  159. figure it out. Now today we're going to

  160. relate a lot of that to maybe kids but

  161. also to in the Bible we're going to look

  162. at John Mark and we're going to look in

  163. Acts chapter 12 and throughout the New

    Acts 12 chapter mention

  164. Testament and see some amazing moments

  165. where if you can believe it young people

  166. or kids or those that are younger in

  167. leadership don't always get it right.

  168. Now thankfully dad had me as a son so he

  169. never had to reprimand me in the process

  170. if you're new at the church. He started

  171. the church. I was on the team here for

  172. uh 12 13 years and then became the lead

  173. pastor here. Uh and he's still sitting

  174. here on the front row and mom. Uh

  175. obviously a joke cuz there a few times.

  176. The most the biggest one I remember was

  177. right behind this building and he

  178. basically he didn't use the word shut up

  179. cuz he wouldn't do that. He doesn't use

  180. that word but that's what he told me and

  181. said you got to fix it and your

  182. attitude's poor. And I was like I was

  183. actually mad at the moment. And then

  184. don't you hate it when the Lord speaks

  185. to you and is like obviously he was

  186. right and is right and you're like but I

  187. don't want him to be right. I want to be

  188. right. Right. We mess up. We don't get

  189. it right all the time. And if you have

  190. ever raised a child in your home or been

  191. around a young person, you know, young

  192. kids don't get it right. And even when

  193. they try, even with trying to go the

  194. right way, sometimes it's just

  195. difficult. And I I I don't know if I can

  196. say this, but I love it when there is an

  197. internal struggle, an internal battle

  198. going on, and they're like, "I want to

  199. do what's right, but you can see it. You

  200. can see the the problem, and I want to

  201. do what's right, but I don't know how to

  202. do what's right, and I'm not sure what

  203. to do."

  204. It can be difficult. Now, if you say,

  205. "Hey, I want to follow along today." You

  206. can uh scan the QR code on the screen.

  207. You can always go to church center and

  208. in the more section at the bottom right

  209. corner of your profile, you can follow

  210. along, take notes. And the cool thing,

  211. the notes will always be in your profile

  212. right along with you. But when we think

  213. about kids, it's hard. But when we think

  214. about walking with Jesus, sometimes it's

  215. in the same place. So today, we're going

  216. to look at Acts chap 12. That's where

  217. we're going to begin. And we're going to

  218. just look at what the Lord might be able

  219. to speak to us through his word. And uh

  220. we're going to kind of jump around

  221. because we see John Mark. We see this

  222. young man that when we're here in Acts

    Acts 12 chapter mention

  223. chapter 12, he's probably in his maybe

  224. uh mid late teens, somewhere in that

  225. range. Uh it's hard, it doesn't say

  226. exactly, but he's a young uh young

  227. believer, young minister heading towards

  228. great things in the kingdom of God and

  229. and what God would have as we see. And

  230. the book of Mark most likely was written

  231. by him and just all of these amazing

  232. processes in his life.

  233. But we have to see what God put in the

  234. young person before they ever have any

  235. clue about what God is going to do.

  236. Right? They don't know. They're not sure

  237. where it is. But we have to see it in

  238. them. And in Acts chap 12 here, verse

  239. 12, it says when he realized this, he

  240. went to the house of Mary, the mother of

  241. John, whose other name was Mark, where

  242. many were gathered together and were

  243. praying. Now Peter is rescued. An

  244. amazing miracle of God. Rescued from

  245. prison. And then all of a sudden now

  246. he's able to leave. Like God does a

  247. miracle. He can leave. He realizes it

  248. and he heads over to the house of Mary,

  249. the mother of John, who is called Mark.

  250. John Mark is why we would think of that

  251. and see throughout the New Testament.

  252. When we look at this moment, there's

  253. something about proximity to the things

  254. of God that is so incredibly important

  255. and amazing when we think of ministry

  256. and life. And for our kids, can I just

  257. tell you parents in the room, one of the

  258. most important things you can do besides

  259. being consistent and loving and caring,

  260. of course, all of those things at home

  261. is you need your kids, your kids need to

  262. be in the presence of Jesus

  263. consistently. They need to be poured

  264. into. They need to be in places where

  265. all of a sudden an act of God takes

  266. place. a move happens and they see a

  267. miracle where what was is no longer

  268. because the power of God takes place.

  269. And this is one of those things with if

  270. he was not in the house, if he wasn't in

  271. the space where Peter was going to come

  272. and share about the goodness and the

  273. amazing things of what God was doing,

  274. then there would have been something

  275. that was missed and something that could

  276. have never happened or never been

  277. experienced. And I want to encourage you

  278. when we think of midweeks and we think

  279. of Royal Rangers and Girls Ministries,

  280. sometimes it's hard. Sometimes we're

  281. tired. I don't know. I'm I don't know if

  282. I can say this, Pastor Nate.

  283. I'm going to do it anyways.

  284. Some Wednesday nights, can I just be

  285. real with you? We've worked all day just

  286. like you've worked all day. I go home

  287. and a lot of times we go home, we have a

  288. quick dinner, and this is where the

  289. mistake comes. sit down on the couch and

  290. the our couch just like envelops you and

  291. you're like a you're like I cannot I I

  292. do not want to get up. I'm like I have

  293. to get up. It's my job. Like I I can't

  294. not show up to teach my class, right?

  295. That would not go well. And you know

  296. what you do is you walk with discipline

  297. and you get yourself out of the couch

  298. and you say, "We're going to go because

  299. this is what we do. It's important and

  300. my kids are going to be in church no

  301. matter what and I can't send them if I'm

  302. not there because that's not a good

  303. example. So, I'm going to get up and I'm

  304. going to go and I'm going to take them

  305. and I'm going to learn and I'm going to

  306. experience what God has. And you know

  307. what I find any time in my life when I

  308. do what I know I should do that when I

  309. leave that thing I'm like thank you Lord

  310. that I wasn't lazy or whatever that I

  311. wasn't too tired and maybe my job but

  312. there's been other ministers retreat or

  313. ministers opportunities things where I'm

  314. like Rachel and I we're like we do not

  315. want to go

  316. but this is what we've committed to and

  317. we get up off the couch and we say we're

  318. going to go and on the way home, we're

  319. like, "Oh, man. I'm so glad." We got to

  320. have that conversation. We got to have

  321. that moment. We got to have that

  322. experience with the Lord. And church,

  323. your kids need those consistent

  324. experiences with God. They need the

  325. power of God poured in in them. And why

  326. do we do Royal Rangers and Girls

  327. Ministries and Summit? And why do we

  328. have Bible quiz and all of the things?

  329. Kyle's in the back running sound this

  330. morning. He's not our Royal Ranger

  331. director. He's not the our Royal Ranger

  332. commander over the whole thing because

  333. it's easy and he just is looking for

  334. something to do,

  335. but because he believes that the

  336. ministry is going to see young boys

  337. experience God and be mentored to be

  338. more like God. And so, guess what he

  339. does? Just like me, I'm sure on some

  340. Wednesday nights, I would really prefer

  341. stay home. But you know what? I'm going

  342. to get up and I'm going to go and we're

  343. going to teach and train and love. Why?

  344. because we see what God put in them

  345. before they do. They don't even know

  346. yet. But we are going to be consistent

  347. and faithful. And church, as leaders, I

  348. say thank you to you. But also as those

  349. who you are bringing your kids for the

  350. journey, get them in places where they

  351. can experience the power and the

  352. presence and the goodness of God.

  353. Someone decided to give him access and

  354. it changed his life.

  355. those around us, they need people with

  356. spiritual eyes who can recognize what

  357. God has placed inside of them. And I

  358. want to encourage us to be a people when

  359. we see kids running around. We're not

  360. annoyed. We're not ah I wish they would

  361. walk or Yeah, they should. That's yeah,

  362. I agree. But they're not going to. And I

  363. want them to be here. And we want to see

  364. what's inside of them. And we want to

  365. see the power of God move. And when we

  366. do, church, anything is possible.

  367. Great leaders see potential before

  368. performance and church. That's where

  369. we're going to be when we come. And

  370. Pastor Adam mentioning just being kind

  371. and nice. We're going to be kind and

  372. nice and we're going to say, "Lord, I

  373. know that there's potential and I need

  374. your help to see it, but Lord, the

  375. performance isn't quite there yet, but

  376. Lord, we're going to keep believing.

  377. >> We're going to keep going because the

  378. next generation needs to know Jesus and

  379. know his power." So, see what God put in

  380. them. Second this morning is stay with

  381. them through the struggle. Now this

  382. makes me feel good. I hope somebody else

  383. in the room room room you can feel good

  384. as well cuz in Acts chapter 15 we just

    Acts 15 chapter mention

  385. go forward just a couple of chapters and

  386. all of a sudden we see the result of a a

  387. moment that has taken place. And in

  388. verse 37 through39

  389. it says now Barnabas wanted to take with

  390. them John called Mark. That sounds nice.

  391. But Paul thought best not to take with

  392. them one who had withdrawn from them in

  393. Panilia and had not gone with them to

  394. the work. And there arose a sharp

  395. disagreement so that they separated from

  396. each other. Barnabas took Mark with him

  397. and sailed away. Okay church, anybody

  398. else every once in a while like it

  399. doesn't always go great for Paul. Like

  400. the guy who wrote half the New Testament

  401. like this is amazing. Paul was saying

  402. no. John Mark messed up and I don't want

  403. him with me. I see him as a problem. I

  404. see him as an issue. And guess what? Not

  405. everyone has to see it. But Barnabas

  406. says, "No, I see potential in him. I see

  407. what the future can hold. I see

  408. something that is bigger than his

  409. failures and his mistakes."

  410. And we don't necessarily know what the

  411. failures and mistakes are besides the

  412. fact he quit in some form or fashion.

  413. But church, when we are raising up next

  414. generation kids and next generation

  415. leaders and next generation Christians,

  416. guess what? Sometimes right in the

  417. middle of what they should be doing,

  418. they're going to say, "Peace out." And

  419. you're going to be stuck with it.

  420. Because it's hard to raise up leaders.

  421. And if we can put our mind in a place

  422. where we could say, "I remember back to

  423. when I was that. I was the one being

  424. trained up. I was the new believer. I

  425. was the kid." Then we could remember,

  426. guess what? you did the exact same thing

  427. that we get so mad at younger people

  428. doing today.

  429. And we have to come and say, Lord, I see

  430. I see the struggle. I see the problem,

  431. but I'm going to stay with them through

  432. that struggle.

  433. That formation is going to matter more.

  434. And when I think of Peter and we've been

  435. kind of following Peter throughout this

  436. sermon series is you see Peter and Jesus

  437. did not throw Peter away. He corrected

  438. him. He restored him. He continued

  439. investing in him. And Peter became

  440. living proof that failure can be part of

  441. formation when grace keeps calling

  442. someone forward. And can I just say,

  443. church, that if we want young people

  444. that we invest in, if we want them to

  445. get to a place where they're firm

  446. footing on the things of God, we have to

  447. know that sometimes they're not going to

  448. do it right. And sometimes they're going

  449. to quit. And sometimes we might be like

  450. Paul and be like, I don't even want them

  451. in my ministry. But thank you, Lord,

  452. that there's Barnabases that are going

  453. to say, "Nope. Let's keep this going.

  454. And I want to be in this case, I want to

  455. be like Barnabas, who they messed up.

  456. That was not their best moment. But I

  457. see the future. I see what God has. God

  458. has something special for them.

  459. And we keep going.

  460. We must be true, healthy leaders. We're

  461. going to tell the truth. We're going to

  462. correct. We're going to make

  463. opportunities for accountability. We're

  464. going to keep the mission clear. And

  465. we're going to help those that are

  466. struggling take the next step. And

  467. sometimes it's on their time and in

  468. their way.

  469. Can I say it this way? We do not give up

  470. on people while they're still growing.

  471. And church, the next generation is a

  472. group of people. The young ones, they're

  473. still growing. And so, we can't stop. We

  474. can't give up. We can't quit.

  475. Can I say that when I was walking around

  476. the other night, there was a a one young

  477. man who he was maybe having a little bit

  478. of a a problem. He wasn't enjoying his

  479. moment. He was It was amazing. I got to

  480. see one of the volunteers, one of the

  481. ladies that just was so loving and so

  482. caring and just following them around,

  483. being sure that everything was good. Try

  484. to get them back, go back in the room,

  485. church, we're going to have experiences

  486. where we just keep growing and helping

  487. them grow and we keep giving them

  488. opportunity because we know maybe not

  489. today, maybe not even next month, but

  490. you know what? In the future, that young

  491. man is going to be something that we

  492. say, "Wow, look at what God did." But if

  493. we stop at the beginning, we're never

  494. going to get there and they're never

  495. going to get there. And so today,

  496. church, we must be a church that we stay

  497. with the people that we're walking with

  498. through the struggle. We stay with our

  499. kids, our students, and those that are

  500. young in the faith believing. Say,

  501. "Lord, we're not going to give up while

  502. they're still growing.

  503. See what God put in them. Stay with them

  504. through the struggle." And third, invest

  505. today for what God will do tomorrow.

  506. We jump forward in the New Testament.

  507. And uh if you did a study on John, Mark,

  508. you can get a whole lot more, right?

  509. There's always so much that we could

  510. talk about, but I'm just going to po

  511. point out one verse at the close of

  512. First Peter.

  513. Verse 13

  514. says, "She who is at Babylon, who is

  515. likewise chosen, sends you greetings,

  516. and so does Mark, my son.

  517. And when we look at this story and we

  518. look at John Mark and we look at his

  519. failure with Paul, his failure that all

  520. of a sudden was even Paul's like I don't

  521. even no I don't want him with me that

  522. Barnabas and Paul split up their

  523. ministries because of John Mark and then

  524. we look at Peter here in in first Peter

  525. and we see and he calls this Mark that

  526. John Mark his son his spiritual son

  527. something has happened in him to such a

  528. level that the one that Paul was like,

  529. "I don't even want him in my ministry."

  530. That Peter would come and call him his

  531. son.

  532. Church, if we think that the people that

  533. we're training up, if we think the next

  534. generation is just going to get it

  535. figured out, it's going to be easy, no

  536. big deal, no failures, no mistakes, then

  537. truly, we entirely miss reading the

  538. Bible in any story. All of the great

  539. leaders of the Bible did horrible

  540. things. All of them failed. All of them

  541. quit. All of them. I mean, amazing.

  542. Pretty much everyone. You can just look

  543. at it and see there's no faith. They

  544. committed adultery. They killed people.

  545. I mean, just go through the list of our

  546. great leaders

  547. and church. If we are going to be who

  548. God has called us to be and if we're

  549. going to truly value students when we

  550. say invest in the next generation, we're

  551. not only talking about having a kids

  552. pastor or a youth pastor. We're talking

  553. about having dozens and dozens and

  554. dozens of people that are serving in

  555. ministries, but even beyond that, we're

  556. talking about being a church. When the

  557. kid goes running by us in the foyer,

  558. we're like, "Hey buddy, good job. You're

  559. very fast."

  560. And inside you might be like, "This is

  561. not a place to run." And you're right.

  562. It's not that you're wrong, but church,

  563. do we care more about a kid running or a

  564. kid growing in Jesus? And if it's

  565. between those two things, and sometimes

  566. it's literally is, let them run. Let

  567. them run. Lord, help us. And I pray for

  568. some of our maybe older people among us,

  569. more seasoned, like Lord, don't let them

  570. run into you. Like, I'm with you. Like,

  571. I I like intercede for that.

  572. But Lord, I want kids. I want young

  573. people in their faith. I want people

  574. that aren't doing it right yet, that

  575. seem like they're just running through

  576. life, running through the foyer, running

  577. in places they shouldn't be. Church,

  578. that makes me super happy and super

  579. excited. Don't tell them I said that. I

  580. mean, you know, we're not encouraging

  581. that. But why? Because those are the

  582. ones that someday they're going to be

  583. leading this church. They're going to be

  584. the ones that they they may come to the

  585. Lord later on in life, but all of a

  586. sudden, they're going to be ones that

  587. are going to the mission field. They're

  588. going to be the ones that are winning

  589. their world for Jesus. In fact, those of

  590. us in the room, we've known Jesus for a

  591. long time. We often times are lame when

  592. it comes to sharing Jesus. But a new

  593. believer oftentimes is like, I'll tell

  594. everybody because look what Jesus did

  595. because they remember because it was

  596. three months ago, not 30 years ago. And

  597. we need to learn from them. Lord,

  598. passion. give us passion for the things

  599. of God.

  600. And if we're going to value students,

  601. literally our youngest among us, as well

  602. as those that are new to Jesus, if we're

  603. going to value those and invest in them,

  604. we must be willing to ask him, Lord, who

  605. who should I be raising up, Lord, who is

  606. it that I need to pour into? And maybe

  607. for us, some of us, it literally is the

  608. start of Lord, when that kid runs by me

  609. one more time in the foyer, I'm going to

  610. let my heart go from that place of h to

  611. a place of, you know what, I love that

  612. that kid is here, and I'm going to pray

  613. for that kid. In fact, I'm just going to

  614. give you a challenge, maybe a low-level

  615. challenge. If there's a kid that annoys

  616. you in this church, start praying for

  617. them every day. And I promise you, your

  618. whole view of them will change.

  619. >> And we'll take them. Every one of them.

  620. If you ever hear a kid screaming in this

  621. room, do you want a kid in the room or

  622. do you not want a kid in the room? We'll

  623. take a kid screaming in the room. We

  624. value them. We invest in the next

  625. generation. There's nothing quite like

  626. having a church where we have maybe on a

  627. Sunday a hundred kids and leaders on

  628. that side of the room while we get to

  629. worship and then on Wednesdays where the

  630. disciplehip all over the building like

  631. this last week I think 80 kids that were

  632. in the building being trained up and

  633. built up church. That is what it's

  634. about. And when we have kids, there's

  635. going to be mess and there's going to be

  636. problems and there's going to be

  637. difficulty and there's going to be

  638. pastors asking, "Hey, we need kids

  639. volunteers." And maybe you'd say, "I

  640. would never do that."

  641. What happens if you ask the Lord and he

  642. said, "You know what? You should go be a

  643. kids volunteer." I'm just going to say

  644. Chris Mentor. He's sitting right there

  645. in the middle of that section. And he is

  646. a faithful as faithful of a kids uh

  647. volunteer as we have in this in this

  648. church. He's absolutely amazing and he

  649. says all the time in our board meetings,

  650. he's a part of our board and he's like,

  651. "I have no clue what I'm doing there. I

  652. don't know." But you know what? Kids

  653. love him. Kids love him and he's

  654. consistent and he's faithful and there's

  655. going to be kids in heaven because you

  656. say, "I don't know why. I don't know why

  657. this what God has. You asked, I said

  658. yes." And I But you know what? Every

  659. time you talk about it, there's joy that

  660. lights up your face. And something

  661. happens when we say, "Lord, I'm gonna do

  662. what maybe even isn't my like first

  663. choice that all of a sudden.

  664. I love the things God has me do more

  665. than the things I want to do every

  666. moment." And maybe there's somebody in

  667. the room that you say, "You know what? I

  668. want to invest today for what God will

  669. do tomorrow." And maybe you struggle to

  670. see the future. Maybe you struggle to

  671. see that tomorrow. You can trust the

  672. Lord that when we teach his word and we

  673. mentor PE kids to be like Jesus, we

  674. mentor new believers to be like him,

  675. it's going to happen. They're going to

  676. get there.

  677. And that's what we are all about. Here

  678. is one more for Jesus. And one of our

  679. values of students, we're going to raise

  680. up the next generation. There's nothing

  681. quite like it. We invest in the next

  682. generation.

  683. Your greatest legacy will be in who you

  684. develop and who they become.

  685. And I want to challenge someone today.

  686. You know, when I think about our life

  687. and I think about our kids and we want

  688. to have money that we leave for them, of

  689. course, we try to help them with school.

  690. We try to do all these things. But it's

  691. not going to be about any level of money

  692. or not money that my legacy is going to

  693. be built on when I leave this earth. But

  694. it's going to start with my five kids.

  695. And it's going to continue on to people

  696. that Rachel and I have been able to pour

  697. into. And we believe there's going to be

  698. literally hundreds of pastors and

  699. missionaries and leaders that are in

  700. those realms that are winning hundreds

  701. and thousands of people for Jesus. And

  702. we believe there's going to be a whole

  703. bunch of people that you leave Radiant

  704. Life Church and you go to your work and

  705. your office and you work with people. I

  706. can't even get in there, but you get to

  707. share the gospel. And that is what's

  708. exciting, the goodness of God. And we

  709. believe that all of these kids that are

  710. running around this church that

  711. sometimes are difficult, that sometimes

  712. have way more energy than the adults

  713. among us, it's so worth it and so

  714. exciting because those kids, church,

  715. they're already starting to change the

  716. world. But we have no clue what's going

  717. to happen as we say, Lord, you move one

  718. more kid, one more kid, and watch them

  719. change the world for the power of God.

  720. Let us never discount them. Let us never

  721. I'm not sure. No, let's believe in them

  722. and ask God to do something absolutely

  723. amazing.

  724. So my prayer as we think about our

  725. values and we've talked about the Bible

  726. and Holy Spirit being the rad fam being

  727. a family talk about students church.

  728. What happens if we live our life built

  729. so heavily on the word of God with his

  730. spirit empowering us to live that out?

  731. And as a church family, we are united

  732. and we're together and we're pouring

  733. into the next generation. Church, that

  734. is what I would call something that's

  735. unstoppable in the kingdom of God

  736. because we're doing what he told us to

  737. do. We're living out his plan for us.

  738. And maybe today the challenge for you

  739. is, hey, I need to pray. I need to pray

  740. for young people at Radiant Life. Maybe

  741. your kids are grown. Maybe maybe you

  742. don't have grandkids. Maybe whatever the

  743. situation, you need to get some get some

  744. kids. I'm just going to throw it out

  745. there. You could ask uh Emma, our our

  746. kids director. You could ask her and I

  747. guarantee you she could give you some

  748. names. Maybe it's a first name. Could

  749. you pray for this kid? And you know

  750. what? Just a a prayer. It could mean so

  751. much. What would h I'm just going to

  752. throw. What would happen if the next

  753. five years you prayed for a kid every

  754. single day? You think something's going

  755. to be different in that kid's life?

  756. Because I do. Maybe that's your

  757. challenge. Maybe for some you need to

  758. ask, "Lord, help me. Forgive me because

  759. they annoy me. Kids annoy me. I don't

  760. like it." Maybe you need to ask, "Lord,

  761. would you give me a grace and a love for

  762. your children?" And maybe specifically

  763. difficult children. Lord, would you do

  764. that in my life? Maybe for some today,

  765. you need to get involved. And when I I

  766. mention serving in kids, you're like,

  767. "Ah, and that's not what the day is

  768. about, but how can we talk about

  769. investing in kids?" Maybe you just need

  770. to go home and ask the Lord. Maybe this

  771. morning before you leave, you need to

  772. ask the Lord, "Hey, is that something I

  773. should do?" And I'm going to throw out

  774. there, if you're not serving, you're not

  775. a part, there's no better place to get

  776. involved than to say, "Hey, I would come

  777. and I would be a part. I want to help on

  778. Sunday morning or on Wednesday night for

  779. junior Bible quiz. I want to help invest

  780. in the next generation."

  781. Once a month, you say, "I'm going to

  782. come. I'm going to give my Sunday what I

  783. would do, and I'm going to invest in the

  784. next generation." Maybe that's your

  785. call. And so as we think about that

  786. discover a rad life, there's some things

  787. maybe you need to get in Bible

  788. foundations the next time it's offered

  789. or you you've been and you need to jump

  790. into to a leadership training starting

  791. here on the 16th. We take these steps

  792. because we don't throw anybody in with

  793. our kids because we want to be sure we

  794. know who you are and they're safe. Maybe

  795. you say, you know what, I need to get

  796. prepared so that I can jump in and help.

  797. And I don't know what the Lord has, but

  798. if you are not actively praying for,

  799. believing for, fighting for a child, a

  800. student, someone that's coming up, I

  801. would encourage you. Would you ask the

  802. Lord to give you the way? If it's

  803. serving, if it's praying, if it's just

  804. Lord, help my heart to change. Let's be

  805. a church that we invest in the next

  806. generation. And not only in giving on

  807. Sunday and a pastor, a kids pastor,

  808. youth pastor, the leaders, but we're

  809. going to serve. We're going to pray.

  810. We're going to believe and we're going

  811. to intercede that our kids would know

  812. Jesus.

  813. There's nothing like it. John, Mark,

  814. Peter, who would say, "My son,

  815. we don't know when the person that maybe

  816. ticked off Paul that he wouldn't even

  817. hang out with. He wouldn't even go be in

  818. ministry with him." When that person all

  819. of a sudden becomes someone you say,

  820. "This is my son."

  821. God's got something special, church. He

  822. has something special for you. And

  823. Peter's journey, I think, tells the

  824. story of disciplehip. Just one more

  825. time, Jesus called him, taught him,

  826. corrected him, empowered him, restored

  827. him. He denied him, and he had to bring

  828. him back into the family and then used

  829. him to strengthen someone else. And

  830. today, as we close this time, I want us

  831. all just to get that person, that kid,

  832. that young person in our mind. Maybe

  833. it's a new believer that we're we're

  834. struggling to to stay in the fight,

  835. whatever it might be today that we say,

  836. "Lord, would you help me?" Maybe that is

  837. your thing. You need to say, "Lord, do I

  838. need to go to kids ministry? Is that

  839. what you've called me to?" I promise

  840. you, if God's calling you to it, and you

  841. don't do it, that your life's not going

  842. to be what it should. But if you do what

  843. he said, all of a sudden, you'll find

  844. joy in something maybe you never even

  845. thought possible.

  846. That we're going to see one more know

  847. Jesus starting with our youngest. We

  848. value students.

  849. So maybe all over this room, if we

  850. could, if you're able, can we stand or

  851. just prepare our hearts for what the

  852. Lord would have?

  853. And I ask today, we're not going to sing

  854. a song to close or we're just going to

  855. keep it low because I want God to be

  856. able to speak. And I would encourage you

  857. right now, maybe he would put a a child

  858. on your mind, somebody you can pray for.

  859. Maybe you know, I need to ask for

  860. forgiveness and a heart for students. Or

  861. maybe you know, I know I'm need to be

  862. serving, but I I'm not. it and you say,

  863. "I need to do it." Go to radio.family

  864. and sign up. Go talk to Emma. Talk to

  865. one of us. We want to help you get

  866. connected because the next generation

  867. absolutely

  868. matters.

  869. And church, we're going to value

  870. students. We're going to invest in

  871. students. And not a few and not a

  872. pastor, not a few leaders, but as a

  873. church family.

  874. So Lord, right now we come before you

  875. and we just ask you Jesus. Would you

  876. give us a heart for students?

  877. Lord, would you give us a heart for the

  878. next generation? Lord, before we would

  879. pray as our church, I pray individually

  880. in this room. Lord, would you give me a

  881. greater heart for students, for kids,

  882. for the young in in the spiritual

  883. matters around us, God? Lord, would you

  884. help me? Would you help us individually

  885. to care for and and the appropriate ways

  886. we can to pour your goodness into

  887. students, Lord Jesus, so they can be

  888. those that grow up like John, Mark, and

  889. maybe even we find out, wow, they've

  890. become a spiritual son, spiritual

  891. daughter, and we've been able to pour

  892. into them. God, we ask you for it. We

  893. need your goodness. Lord, today we pray

  894. for our kids. We pray for the kids that

  895. are a part of Radiant Life Church.

  896. Lord, for the 80s something that are

  897. signed up for for midweek disciplehip.

  898. God, we we pray for each one of those

  899. and for th more that are going to be

  900. jumping on board. God, we ask you that

  901. our kids would fall in love with you,

  902. that our kids would know you, that our

  903. kids would experience your power and

  904. your goodness, and help us as adults.

  905. Lord, you help us when sometimes we're

  906. just tired. Maybe sometimes we just

  907. don't want to go or or maybe our kids

  908. are even saying, "I don't want to go."

  909. Lord, that we would just get them in the

  910. car and we get them in the places and

  911. the environments they need to be. Not

  912. because it's easy for us, but Lord,

  913. because it's what you're calling us to.

  914. So Lord, would you show every parent in

  915. this room what you have, what it looks

  916. like, Lord, what disciplehip journey

  917. their kids need to be on, and then let

  918. us be committed to it, God. Lord, that

  919. our kids would be raised up to know you

  920. and love you, and that our kids would

  921. simply love you. and not as I pray

  922. often, Lord, that they would have a bend

  923. towards you, not towards the things of

  924. the world. But when it's hard, God, that

  925. they would just choose right because

  926. they know you and they love you, they

  927. have that bend towards you and towards

  928. your kingdom. And Lord, as a church

  929. family, Lord, I pray there would never

  930. be a kids opportunity that's not filled.

  931. There would never be a teaching role

  932. that's not filled. There would never be

  933. a a kids greeting role that's not

  934. filled. whatever they would be, Lord,

  935. that Junior Bible Quiz and Royal Rangers

  936. and Girls Ministries that have all of

  937. the leaders that they need because we

  938. invest in the next generation. And if we

  939. truly value it, we're going to serve in

  940. those areas and capacities because we

  941. want to see our kids know you. And so,

  942. Lord, I'm thankful today for the dozens

  943. and dozens and dozens that they on a

  944. weekly basis, at least once a month on

  945. Sundays, they serve in one of our kids

  946. areas. Thank you for them. Strengthen

  947. them. Give them even new passion for the

  948. young people around them. Let them pray

  949. and respond, Lord, to what you're doing

  950. as they get to pour into them from

  951. nursery all the way up, God. And then,

  952. Lord, we pray maybe for some others of

  953. us in the room that maybe we need to

  954. jump in. We need to start serving, Lord.

  955. Would you, not what I say, but would

  956. your word, would your spirit convict our

  957. hearts? And God, if we need to start

  958. serving on Sunday mornings, if we need

  959. to get involved and maybe go above and

  960. beyond and serve on Sundays and then

  961. join in on a a Bible quiz or we're

  962. arrangers or girls ministries, Lord, let

  963. us have the the grace and then the

  964. faithfulness to say yes to you, Lord,

  965. because we invest in the next

  966. generation. We invest in our students.

  967. Lord, I pray that right now, even before

  968. we leave, if you're speaking that to us,

  969. any of these areas, Lord, whatever the

  970. challenge is, Lord, I pray as

  971. individuals, we we'd have the courage

  972. and the strength to say, "Lord, I'm

  973. going to do what you've called us to do.

  974. I'm going to do what you've called me to

  975. do. I'm going to be obedient,

  976. Lord, because we believe in students and

  977. we're going to invest in them. It's

  978. going to lead towards one more person

  979. coming to know Jesus, Lord, that we see

  980. now and that's going to happen over time

  981. in the future." So Lord, we're just

  982. thankful today. We love you.

  983. We love you, Lord. We're thankful that

  984. healthy disciples don't just follow you,

  985. but healthy disciples help someone else

  986. follow you. And so God, when it comes to

  987. the youngest amongst us, help us be

  988. those people. Help us help us be healthy

  989. in our walk with you so we can share you

  990. the goodness of what you've done and who

  991. you are in our lives.

  992. Lord, I just want to say I'm so thankful

  993. and I believe you're proud of this

  994. church as well. We're proud, Lord, of

  995. the leaders

  996. that are among us, those that pour into

  997. our kids every week, those that let them

  998. uh just grow towards you and service and

  999. disciplehip opportunities. And Lord, I'm

1000. thankful for this church. And Lord, help

1001. us as a body reaffirm, Lord, students

1002. matter and we will continue to invest in

  1003. them,

  1004. Lord Jesus.

  1005. We love you.

1006. We love you. We love you.

1007. Lord, as we close this prayer, Lord, I

1008. pray that every kid that walks in this

1009. building or in our care, wherever that

1010. might be, Lord, that they would feel

1011. your kindness and your love and your

1012. grace. And maybe even some kids that

1013. come and that's not what they get at

1014. home. Lord, when they walk in this

1015. building, I pray that they would feel

1016. your presence through your people in

1017. such a powerful way. The kids would just

1018. want to come to church. They would just

1019. want to come on Wednesday nights. They

1020. would just want to come for Bible quiz.

1021. They would just want to come because

1022. they're in our presence. And we have a

1023. love that only can come from you, God.

1024. And they would feel your goodness every

  1025. time they experience a moment, a

1026. disciplehip moment, a sp a moment in

1027. your presence or even in the foyer.

1028. Lord, let our kids love church as they

1029. love you, God. And let us be a part of

1030. that because we welcome them. We cheer

1031. them on. We lift them up even when

1032. they're in a struggling moment. Lord, we

1033. thank you today. We love you. We love

1034. you. We love you. You are so good.

1035. You're so good, Jesus. It's all for your

1036. glory. In your name we pray. Amen. And

1037. amen. Come on. Our God is good in this

1038. place. He's so good. And I just want to

1039. say thank you one more time. Thank you

1040. all that you're a part of kids ministry.
