  1. before time had a name. There was a garden, a

  2. place where heaven and earth walked as one. This

  3. is the Echoes of Eden, where we rediscover ancient

  4. roots and awaken to our eternal purpose. We do

  5. repairs, remodels, landscaping, basically upkeep

  6. for people's house. We're leaning it more of

  7. a ministry sense towards the people that are

  8. unable, or maybe they just don't have the money

  9. because everything costs so much now. Leaks,

  10. if you got leaks, it's caused issues, or maybe

  11. your porch has just been so weathered because

  12. you've been unable to maintain it. We'll come

  13. in and we'll see what we can do to help. Either

  14. freshen it up, alter it, rebuild new ones, whatever

  15. your budget is that we can help you get to. Alright,

  16. so how detailed are we doing this? Like when

  17. you say remodel and stuff like that, like how

  18. detailed are you trying to... We're not going

  19. to go in the whole house. If you've got a floor

  20. to discuss some weak spots, we'll go in and we'll

  21. fix those. Or maybe you want to put down a new

  22. flooring. We can do that. It's like small remodels.

  23. Yeah, patching holes and walls. No, if you want

  24. a new window installed in your house, that's

  25. not me. I have not began to try those on my house,

  26. so I'm not going to say that's my expertise.

  27. But we named it, we was looking for the name

  28. to show we can do a ride, a wide range of things.

  29. And some of the names I've come up with, a lot

  30. of them have already been tooken. So when I started

  31. looking for alternate ways of saying it, the

  32. one that came up was versatile. And I'm like,

  33. versatile? We're pretty versatile. You know,

  34. we can, we can do, I can do flooring, I can do

  35. tile work, I can do plumbing, I can do light

  36. electrical, like I can add an outlet or I can,

  37. you know, change switches. I can change a fixture

  38. in the ceiling. I may be calling you. Call me.

  39. I can do a lot. Unfortunately, you know, Can

  40. you add like exterior outlets? Mm -hmm. Oh, I

  41. may be calling you for that. I started recording

  42. by the way. I figured you had, but when you looked

  43. at it, that's why I was leaning in to get closer

  44. so it picks up really well. You did really good.

  45. You picked up on those signals. Yeah, I'm learning

  46. those because I've noticed... Oh, Lord, I forgot

  47. her name in the choir, but she gives her hand

  48. signals. Jennifer, yeah. Jennifer, and if you

  49. don't pick it up, then she's gonna give you a

  50. voice signal. Yes. And I still struggle trying

  51. to watch her, but I get caught up. When I play,

  52. I always make sure I can see her hands. Yes,

  53. you've got to watch them hands. And she makes

  54. it so hard to keep up with her and not get caught

  55. up in worshiping. I struggle a lot. I can see

  56. that. I do. When you get into that, because people

  57. don't know, but you do help with the lyrics and

  58. stuff. And I've been in those moments where if

  59. the spirit's moving, I'm taking the words off

  60. the screen. Like if you're focused on the screen,

  61. you are missing the point. Something else to

  62. step into this room and get your attention off

  63. that screen and get your attention on him. That's

  64. just one of my things. Oh, it gets me a lot.

  65. I have noticed last week, Barry doing hard fought

  66. hallelujah. Yes. I heard it. I heard his heart

  67. in it. And there was nothing. else I could focus

  68. on I just couldn't I tried and I'm like I gotta

  69. get back I gotta pay attention to this and it

  70. was still just Barry his heart just pouring out

  71. in his guitar and I'm like I give up I gotta

  72. just hear him and I gotta thank God for what

  73. he's doing through Barry yep and it was just

  74. amazing and then I had to go tell him about it

  75. because he's like oh we sounding pretty good

  76. back here and I'm like from out there from me

  77. your heart was just grabbing everybody because

  78. it was poor You couldn't avoid it. There's a

  79. difference when you sing from the heart and just

  80. sing the thing. Mm -hmm. My fault. You can tell

  81. when someone's doing it from... You can tell

  82. when someone's doing it from the heart versus

  83. I'm just doing this because I can. Mm -hmm. You

  84. can pick up on that in the room. Yeah. I think.

  85. Oh, I definitely know. I've seen it. So now that

  86. we're into the conversation, tell everybody about

  87. yourself. I think... everyone listen this is

  88. the third trial because of my computer equipment

  89. here but the third time yeah is a charm we got

  90. it tell me about yourself oh man I came from

  91. a wonderful loving home from two parents who

  92. did not understand what a home was they stuck

  93. together they're still together they've been

  94. married forty four years this year My father

  95. taught me everything about repairing, providing

  96. for yourself. If it breaks, don't be afraid to

  97. tear it apart and try to fix it. You know, you're

  98. either going to fix it or you're going to mess

  99. it up worse. You're going to create more problems.

  100. Yeah. And you just dive right in and hope for

  101. the best. I feel like I'm going to make more

  102. problems when I tear stuff apart. As we all do,

  103. especially when it's brand new and you don't

  104. know nothing about it. If you've never installed

  105. a garbage disposal, you'll see what I'm saying.

  106. It's a whole mess of things to get into. But

  107. once you've done it once, you're not so scared

  108. of it the next time. That's true. And it kind

  109. of goes the same with stepping out in faith.

  110. You might be afraid to reach out and pray for

  111. someone or to lay hands on and pray for them,

  112. but once you do it, you break that fear. Okay,

  113. I've done this before. I can do it. It's not

  114. dark to me no more. I've seen the light in there.

  115. I know where to find it. I've seen it. It touched

  116. you. That one touched you. I've seen it light

  117. you up. You have no idea. I'm going to feed it.

  118. I'm going to feed that one inside of me. For

  119. everyone listening, we actually have a back -to

  120. -school service that we're doing tonight. We're

  121. recording this earlier. And that's actually my

  122. messages on being in light and the darkness.

  123. So you're just hitting on things that you don't

  124. even know that's in my notes from us just sitting

  125. in here talking. That's just that's crazy, but

  126. it We're commanded to do those things. Yeah,

  127. like I think we get into a point of At least

  128. have this how it was when I was growing up of

  129. we just have to invite everybody to church because

  130. the church is When we get them into the building,

  131. the pastor can do his thing and we'll be good

  132. to go. Yeah, our job was complete at that point.

  133. But we're actually the ones who are supposed

  134. to be the church out there and go when we see

  135. them in the wheelchairs or whatever to say, hey,

  136. let me pray for you. Me and Amanda actually had

  137. this conversation last night because you hear

  138. a lot of church people say, well, let me pray

  139. about it or if God tells me to do something,

  140. I'll go do it. But didn't he already tell us

  141. to go lay hands on the stick? Like, we're waiting

  142. for a word. Is that just us covering up our fear

  143. of what if this don't work? What if it does?

  144. What if it does? You missed that opportunity.

  145. And I think, you know, I may have told y 'all

  146. this story. I don't remember, but I want to say

  147. mention the conference. But there's Todd White

  148. who has a lot of videos of praying over people.

  149. He told his testimony one time about he When

  150. I think it was either five or ten people a day

  151. his goal was to pray over and He would go home

  152. and write in a journal the people that he prayed

  153. for But he never saw anything happen But he said

  154. he went back to the same scriptures believe in

  155. the mark where it talks about they shall lay

  156. hands on the sick And they will recover and that

  157. verse never changed No, regardless of what he

  158. saw with his natural eyes that verse stayed the

  159. same I think he said he did this for about six

  160. months before he ever saw his first miracle happen

  161. in front of him. Yeah. But how many times do

  162. we get caught up with first time I prayed, I

  163. didn't see nothing happen, second time, nothing

  164. happened. So maybe this changed things for me.

  165. I struggle with remembering. I know I struggle

  166. with remembering. I know if someone come up to

  167. me and be like, Hey, can you pray for me or can

  168. you pray for this person or can you pray over

  169. this situation? I have to write them. And a lot

  170. of people, even Pastor Jeff said he has to do

  171. it right then because he knows we'll forget.

  172. In 10 minutes something else has been distracted

  173. him or he's working on and he'll forget it. Yeah.

  174. So I think it is very important that when it

  175. comes right then it's brought to your attention.

  176. Do it immediately. You know the same with if

  177. you're led to buy somebody's meal or offer gas

  178. or give them a ride. Do it immediately, because

  179. if you don't, God's going to look for someone

  180. else to step in and do it, in that place. Because

  181. it's something that He knows and He's done. He

  182. has a purpose behind it. And I always try to

  183. keep that in the back of my head. Do it immediately.

  184. Don't wait. Did you act on it then? Don't wait

  185. five minutes, five hours? Because maybe there's

  186. an opportunity that's in front of you now that

  187. may not be there. five minutes from now. Maybe

  188. there's an opportunity for that individual now,

  189. that you're the one that he has in their crossways

  190. right now that's listening for his voice. I know

  191. I've been in moments like, is that God, or is

  192. that... Like, if I'm going to come up with this,

  193. probably not. This has got to be God in this

  194. moment. And I've learned to ask questions, so

  195. like if I'm... Even with the teenagers, if I'm

  196. feeling something, I'm going to ask questions,

  197. well, do you feel this way? Or does this make

  198. sense to you if I say it? And if they say yes,

  199. then I know to continue pursuing it. If I miss

  200. it, we're all human, we can miss it. But I think

  201. you've got to be obedient to step out. Which

  202. I think, I don't really care, we'll get to notes

  203. or whatever, but our whole theme was supposed

  204. to be servant leadership. And tough and tender

  205. like Jesus, this is exactly what we're talking

  206. about. serving other people. Well, how? One of

  207. those ways is praying for them. Exactly. You

  208. are being Christ to that person. You're a representation

  209. of heaven in that moment. Like, how important

  210. is that? I learned recently this year about interceding.

  211. I never know what interceding was. I mean, if

  212. you had mentioned interceding, I know what it

  213. is, but I never realized that spiritually, You

  214. intercede for people. When you pray for someone,

  215. you're praying for them, and you're adding to

  216. their prayer, or you're praying in place of them.

  217. Because they may not have the power. They may

  218. not have the knowledge. They just may not have

  219. the will. And you're doing it for them. And Jesus

  220. does that for us. Constantly. And we are to be

  221. interceders for others. We were given a Holy

  222. Spirit, and He is called in the Bible an interceder.

  223. He intercedes for you. Well, you think about,

  224. and I've heard growing up in church and stuff

  225. that I've heard even pastors and ministers say

  226. this kind of thing about, well, if someone don't

  227. have the faith for it, then it may not happen.

  228. But then you have Lazarus. Lazarus is dead. What

  229. kind of faith does he have to get out of the

  230. grave? Exactly. But you've got Jesus who's saying,

  231. get up. Yeah, He had enough faith and He interceded

  232. for Him and called Him back out of the grave.

  233. It tells us that we can have that kind of faith

  234. too, even if you don't believe for it. I believe

  235. God can do it for you and show you just who He

  236. is to you. I believe if you want to come out

  237. of the wheelchair, I believe God can make that

  238. happen to reveal His goodness to you and make

  239. your life turn around. Yeah. You think about

  240. the two young people we got in the hospital we're

  241. praying over. They don't have the faith right

  242. now to deal with it. They're relying in that

  243. situation on our faith and our prayers to see

  244. this happen. To call healing into them and to

  245. bring them closer to God when they're not able

  246. to speak. We're able to speak for them. And that's

  247. part of being a servant. Speaking, going for

  248. others when they're not able. And so you think,

  249. so this was one of the scriptures I'd sent to

  250. you, if you look at it in John 13, and I'll read

  251. it for everybody. It says, this is verse 3, Now

  252. Jesus was fully aware that the Father had placed

  253. all things under his control, for he had come

  254. from God and was about to go back to be with

  255. him. So he got up from the meal, took off his

  256. outer robe, took a towel and wrapped it around

  257. his waist, poured water into a basin, and began

  258. to wash the disciples' feet. Like this is Jesus

  259. we're talking about. Creator of everything was

  260. there in the beginning, with Father and Spirit,

  261. all things created through Him, by Him. This

  262. is Jesus. And it clearly says, fully aware that

  263. the Father placed all things under His control.

  264. Like if anybody can sit on His high stool and

  265. say, you will serve me, He could do it. But instead,

  266. straps a towel around him and kneels down in

  267. front of 30 feet and begins to wash them. They're

  268. the ones that constantly looked at him as knowing

  269. what power he had. Yes. He knew his power. They've

  270. watched him. They've walked with him. I watched

  271. that yesterday when we watched the season 5 code

  272. and that was in there. And they fought with him

  273. about it. Which I can understand when I watched

  274. it. I could see... I would struggle with that

  275. too, like how would I let someone like my father,

  276. even if like my biological father washed my feet

  277. at my age, I would still struggle with is it

  278. right. Now I understand now because I'm wiser

  279. why he done it to teach them to be, to realize

  280. that even as high as you can be, you're still

  281. not as powerful as God. You're still under Him.

  282. But when you pick other people above you, and

  283. you lift others up above you, you're bringing

  284. them closer to Him, and He sees you for it, and

  285. knows what your heart is doing it for. And you

  286. just think about that whole mentality from that,

  287. even to our conversation with healing people.

  288. If you watch, have y 'all watched about five

  289. seasons of The Chosen? Okay, so you've seen the

  290. moments where he's coming back from healing everybody,

  291. and you can tell his body is just devout. It's

  292. the same principle. He has given of himself,

  293. worn himself out by healing numerous people,

  294. some that may never get what happened. They may

  295. not fully understand. I forget what story is

  296. in the Bible where he killed a blind man. and

  297. the Pharisees are asking, well, who healed you?

  298. I don't know. We need to know who healed you.

  299. All I can tell you is I was blind and now I can

  300. see. This is the same. He doesn't do it for this

  301. fame. He doesn't do it for look at me. He's just,

  302. this is the heart of my father. I'm just doing

  303. exactly what I know he's created me to do. I'm

  304. doing exactly, I think he even says it, I don't

  305. do anything unless I see my Father do it. I don't

  306. say anything unless I hear Him say it. All of

  307. it is just nothing but servant. Truly. And when

  308. you say, you know, Him with the Father, what

  309. the Father wanted Him to do, there's the scripture

  310. that I had that I wrote down. and 20 he talks

  311. about sons the son can do nothing by himself

  312. he only sees what the father's doing whatever

  313. the father does the son also does for the father

  314. loves the son and shows him everything he is

  315. doing he is teaching Jesus by doing what he's

  316. teaching Jesus to do things and Jesus is doing

  317. it but because he knows the Father is with him

  318. and he's doing it with him. And Jesus was teaching

  319. his disciples, this is what the Father wants

  320. you to be like. He wants you to be humble enough

  321. that even with the power he gives you, that you're

  322. going to use it for righteousness, never for

  323. yourself. And when as a Father you step into

  324. your house and you do the same for your children

  325. and you teach them Through love to wash dishes.

  326. Through love to sweep the floor. Through love

  327. to clean your room. You set them on a mindset

  328. that it's no longer a punishment. It's work given

  329. to you by the Lord that'll help others put joy

  330. in others like your parents. But also you can

  331. do it and have a joyful spirit about it. 100

  332. % yeah, you know you don't always have to be

  333. wild either one happen to clean you You can get

  334. it around and be like, you know what? I'm gonna

  335. clean this for my parents so they don't have

  336. to They don't realize I did it. I'm just gonna

  337. clean it. I ain't even gonna say it was me Yeah,

  338. I'm waiting on my kids to do that But I know

  339. they will one day because every day when I see

  340. okay We take turns in the house. There's three

  341. adults in our house We take turns cooking. There's

  342. seven of us. We split cleaning. Sometimes you've

  343. got to delegate it to the kids. Like, hey, pause

  344. what you're doing, what you're enjoying yourself.

  345. Let's take time back to the home, clean the home.

  346. You enjoyed the meal. You didn't have to cook

  347. it. You can at least participate in cleaning

  348. it up as a sign of thankfulness for the meal.

  349. Be thankful that you had food to eat. Because

  350. we could have slapped together some hamburger

  351. and macaroni and cheese and tomatoes and just

  352. throw it in the pot and be like, enjoy. Yeah.

  353. But no, we take time and we make wholesome things.

  354. We try to make things that you like. We don't

  355. want to do pinto beans and pot roast every night

  356. because we know you don't like it. Yeah. We'll

  357. do chicken nuggets for dinner. I'm not a major

  358. fan, but I'll eat four or five. I'll suffer with

  359. it for a night to keep you happy. I know what

  360. you want, what you want. Exactly. And when it

  361. comes time to, I'm not saying I'm the pot roast

  362. lover. That's my wife. She loves pot roast. I'm

  363. more like, give me the steak. I'll eat hot dogs

  364. or I'll eat breakfast for dinner. I don't mind

  365. cooking all that. It's a lot of food to cook

  366. if you figure all the breakfast stuff. I don't

  367. mind doing it. I know they enjoy eating it so

  368. to me I get to see the joy of them being full

  369. on doing it, eating it, enjoying it when it comes

  370. time to clean up though. I need some help because

  371. it's a lot of food gotta cook. So true. I try

  372. to also teach them you know as you're doing things

  373. and you know you're making a mess don't be afraid

  374. to try to clean as you go stay focused on cooking

  375. because lord knows you walk away for two seconds

  376. you don't burn something yeah but when you know

  377. you're done making them go ahead and clean that

  378. touch your stuff back to where it's not cooking

  379. so fast and you're not rough yeah and generally

  380. when you can do things where you're not rushed

  381. they come out a lot better You know, if you're

  382. asked to sweep the floor in the kitchen, you

  383. sweep through it in a rush because you want to

  384. get back to your game. It's not going to come

  385. out that great. Your mom's probably going to

  386. make you come do it again because you missed

  387. half of it. Because you was in a hurry. If you

  388. just slow down and do it right the first time.

  389. Take a little time. Be thankful to get to do

  390. it. Most people don't have a floor. Kind of like

  391. porous in the hair. Slow and steady wins the

  392. race. Patience is very hard to learn, and it

  393. starts with parents. When you start learning

  394. to have patience with each other, then you become

  395. the bond of each other to have patience in your

  396. children. It makes it a lot easier. People are

  397. visual learners. Your children are visual learners.

  398. They hear, they see, they watch, they know. You

  399. must remember you're always teaching them. They're

  400. watching everything, even the things you don't

  401. say. They're watching and learning from you.

  402. They watch how you drive. That was a big one.

  403. You know, been a young guy, loved cars, had a

  404. passion for cars. I have a heavy foot. I learned

  405. a lot about control in a car. I can do a lot

  406. of idiotic things in a car that most people are

  407. like, you're stupid, don't do that. But to me,

  408. I wanted to know how to do it. I watched, you

  409. know, the crazy TV shows with car chases and

  410. the car sliding. I watched the drift racing.

  411. I wanted to know how to do it. Yeah. I didn't

  412. always pick the best location, you know. Our

  413. public roads is not for that. This is true. And

  414. I had to realize, okay, when I get in a road

  415. rage, I get in a hurry, and my kids are sitting

  416. in the car. They're learning it. They're watching.

  417. And... That was the first real wake up when I

  418. realized my kids were in the back cheering me

  419. on for doing something I know I shouldn't have

  420. been doing. That they may try to do one day.

  421. Yeah, that they thought was exciting and I'm

  422. teaching them to do it and they're already building

  423. a passion for it. I'm like, no, catch yourself.

  424. You're teaching them to do it. You got to stop.

  425. Teaching them what could be destructive behavior.

  426. What you know how to handle if one of the sons

  427. was to go out and try it without having your

  428. experience and know -how. could be destructive

  429. for them. Yeah, because I had a lot of close

  430. calls. Even if it was my fault or not, I had

  431. a lot of close calls. I mean, man, that could

  432. apply to... More than just driving. That could

  433. relationship. People have a lot of close calls

  434. in relationships. They could close call of either

  435. getting tore apart or get into a negative or

  436. bad relationship. And we were just talking about

  437. some of this earlier about, you know, we wouldn't

  438. talk some of this. Okay, so as men with, now

  439. I have a son, seven months, you got two boys,

  440. two girls, I got two girls. You think about even

  441. the relationship standpoint and they're not taught,

  442. and I think we've had this conversation too,

  443. they're not taught how to, what is a husband?

  444. What is the expectation? of the man in the home.

  445. What's the expectation of a dad? Like, these

  446. are things that was just kind of, in some ways,

  447. in no disrespect to my parents, was kind of like

  448. just figure it out. There was never, I don't

  449. remember anyone actually stepping away and teaching

  450. these things. So like even if you think about

  451. sex and stuff like that, that's not discussed

  452. in the church. And we've had, me and Amanda's

  453. had these conversations as the youth pastors

  454. and stuff, even in previous churches of, if we

  455. don't discuss it here and help explain to a young

  456. teenage boy who's got hormones raging, hey, it's

  457. normal. It's okay. There's a right way to do

  458. this. And there's a path. There's a path to take.

  459. We'll help you. But just jumping from bed to

  460. bed is not going to be your answer. And trying

  461. to figure it out on your own is not the way to

  462. do it because you're just going to make more

  463. mistakes, a bigger mess. But if we as men in

  464. the house, as dads, as husbands, if we as the

  465. church don't talk about these kind of topics,

  466. we're not doing the next generation any favors.

  467. No, we're just blindly leading the blind. Because

  468. if what we remain silent on, the world will be

  469. sure enough to help build them with anything

  470. and everything in between. Yeah, and not in a

  471. righteous way. Not in a righteous way. In the

  472. exact opposite. And you're going to have failed

  473. marriages, you're going to have just kids out

  474. of wedlock, broken homes, broken homes. How many

  475. young, okay, let's just be honest, how many young

  476. girls will have abortions because the boys they

  477. were with were not ready for all that. Stuck

  478. in what I've heard called the dude phase. It's

  479. a young boy. mentality of a young boy walking

  480. around in a grown man's body. And so she doesn't

  481. feel like she can raise the child, so now we

  482. have an abortion happening. Well, what does that

  483. do for that teenage girl who just had that? You

  484. don't think the enemy is going to use that at

  485. some point? Always going to try to drag the past

  486. on them. Do you remember what you did? Now you're

  487. trying to settle down, get your life right. What

  488. about that child you had many years ago that

  489. you had to let go because you weren't ready then?

  490. Yep. You were doing your own thing back then.

  491. And then we have guilt and shame. Two of the

  492. heaviest burdens people can carry. Very heavy.

  493. I don't wish them on anybody. Even a little bit

  494. of guilt. Because then what happens, you try

  495. to start feeling when that guilt shows up, the

  496. enemy starts, you can medicate this, you can

  497. drink your sorrows away, you can do all these

  498. different things, the enemy will try to help

  499. you deal with guilt. when the place you need

  500. to run to is the father's feet. Yeah, and get

  501. in his word. One of my things that I'm sure you

  502. feel the same way just hearing you talk is as

  503. a dad, if my kids mess up, I don't want them

  504. to run away from me. I want them to run to me.

  505. And that was something that took me and my wife

  506. to work together on for me to understand how

  507. to do it. Me and you both? I was blown away.

  508. It wasn't until I realized my kids will go to

  509. my wife before they will me. And at first, I

  510. kind of was. I still got to break some of that.

  511. That might be the way it's meant to be. Maybe

  512. it's supposed to be like that. In the beginning,

  513. I was bond to it. Then I'm like, wait a minute.

  514. When I try to talk to my kids about something,

  515. they get defensive or they're afraid to talk

  516. to me about it, there's something wrong. Let

  517. me go back and fix what I did wrong because I

  518. know I messed up somewhere. I'm still walking

  519. through some of that. And I realized that going

  520. back and trying to fix it was not happening.

  521. You're better off to start trying to fix it from

  522. that point. Just right here. Watching your reaction.

  523. The greatest thing I learned was patience. Don't

  524. react quick. This is, see this is the whole reason

  525. for by listening that I wanted to bring you on

  526. this podcast for me and because That right there

  527. is something you mentioned when we had the youth

  528. conference in the panel, and it just stuck with

  529. me about, you know, when your kids be kids and

  530. do something stupid, instead of reacting right

  531. then, which anger could sit in whatever, you

  532. have to sometimes walk away before coming back

  533. and addressing something. I feel like the devil

  534. tried to use that in the beginning with me years

  535. ago. My excuse was, when you hear my voice, I

  536. want instant reaction out of my kids. Yeah. For

  537. a safety thing. If you're running across a parking

  538. lot and you hear me scream, stop. There's a reason.

  539. You're going to react quick. You're going to

  540. panic. You're going to stop. And that's not the

  541. way you don't want your kids to react out of

  542. fear. Because fear reactions are uncontrolled

  543. reactions. 100%. You want fast, controlled reactions

  544. with your kids. So building the bond of trust

  545. calm reaction slow the anger Makes Positive reaction

  546. from your kids. Yeah, so when you're calm you're

  547. Generally easy going with your kids Then they

  548. know by the tone in your voice if it's serious

  549. or not. They don't have a negative reaction.

  550. They will go positively like That's my dad. Let

  551. me go see what he wants. Instead of being like,

  552. oh god, that's my dad. What does he want? Yeah.

  553. You can get a better reaction out of it and still

  554. get the same effect. You'll probably get it quicker.

  555. Yeah, because the positive attitude. Yeah. They

  556. will be quicker about it compared to being like,

  557. fear. Like, oh god, he screamed at me. What did

  558. I do wrong compared to, oh, thank you. He's calling

  559. me. He must have something great for me. Same

  560. thing works with our relationship with God. I

  561. was going to say, yeah, 100%. When He speaks

  562. to me, it's no longer I'm in trouble. It's, oh,

  563. He's answered my prayer. He's got something for

  564. me. This is what I've been praying for. Which

  565. one is it? Is it for Him to use me? Is it for

  566. somebody needs me? Is it for a word for the day

  567. for God or knowledge? Yeah. And I get excited

  568. when I hear Him. Because just like your best

  569. friend, You wait for them to call. If you ain't

  570. heard from them in a while, you're going to call

  571. them. Hey, are you OK? Because I ain't heard

  572. from you today. You ain't sleeping, are you?

  573. You feeling all right? And I seek him more when...

  574. How do I say it? I seek him more now through

  575. even little things than I ever did before. You

  576. know? Typical person seeks for the big things.

  577. You know, oh, I got a bad doctor for it. Oh,

  578. I got finance problems. I don't have to seek

  579. him through those because I know he's there.

  580. I only seek him through little things. You know,

  581. oh, last night something didn't sit right with

  582. me. Me and my wife were talking. We may not agree

  583. on that. How do I talk to her about how I feel

  584. without upsetting her? Or my child's dealing

  585. with a new experience that I've never dealt with.

  586. If I tell them what I'm thinking, they're not

  587. going to listen. Holy Spirit, how do you... Let

  588. me go talk to someone. Give me some wisdom here.

  589. Yeah, that knows about these things. And I've

  590. been told several times, go talk to an elder.

  591. Go seek this person who's an elder in your church

  592. or in your community. Because they'll have the

  593. advice to come. You're seeking out wisdom. God

  594. knows all, but sometimes... He wants you to pull

  595. it out of others to break that fear of talking

  596. to other people, seeking advice from other people.

  597. Well, I'm pretty sure not to look it up, but

  598. I'm pretty sure there's a scripture about seeking

  599. out wisdom. And there's wisdom in a multitude

  600. of counsels. Oh, I'm sure there's a lot of truth

  601. to that. I didn't realize this, but I was told

  602. this in something I was studying the other day

  603. that stuck to me and I had to write it down.

  604. The New Testament talks about anger over 200

  605. times. Talks about anger. I didn't know that.

  606. I didn't either. I mean, surely I know it talks

  607. about anger. You got to learn how to guide your

  608. anger. Yeah. Well, it even says be angry, send

  609. not. That was after Jesus, and 200 times after

  610. he had come and taught, they still have to teach

  611. people how to deal with anger. Yeah. And I think

  612. anger is one of the broadest doors you can invite

  613. sin in your house. Because anger leads to uncontrolling,

  614. without control. Then why else would it say be

  615. angry, sin not? Because what does anger open

  616. the door for? If you don't take those moments,

  617. like you said at the conference, if you don't

  618. take those moments to step away, And actually,

  619. like you said a while ago, how do I handle this

  620. situation? Instead of just being reactive to

  621. something and damaging a relationship or whatever

  622. because you flew off the handle and said something

  623. you didn't mean to say. What can open the door?

  624. What does anger open the door to? Negative, hurt.

  625. You slap the handle, smack somebody. So much

  626. things that you just don't want in your family.

  627. You don't want it in your home. You don't even

  628. want to welcome it around you. And patience is

  629. what defeats it. Anger is a normal emotion. Oh

  630. God, put that in it. You know. But it's how you

  631. deal with that emotion. Jesus had to deal with

  632. that when he turned over the table from the tavern.

  633. He was angry. for what they had turned it into,

  634. the trading and the selling and the buying and

  635. the cheating of people over money. He used anger.

  636. That is an emotional god -giver to use in righteousness,

  637. not in unrighteousness, unclean ways. Never supposed

  638. to use it in a point of actually harming people.

  639. So I'll mess with you now, just because I didn't

  640. know that was going to come up again, but it

  641. was actually in my notes too about when he goes

  642. into the temple, flips the table. and makes the

  643. comment, you know, you've made this a den of

  644. thieves. This is a house of prayer. I was reading

  645. and studying actually something this past week

  646. on that. And if you step back and really think

  647. about what's happening, because I've always heard

  648. it in our discussion before about you got churches

  649. that have coffee shops and bookstores. Well,

  650. they're making the den of thieves or whatever.

  651. If you look at what they were doing, what were

  652. they selling in the temple? Sacrifices. Sacrifices

  653. for what? Sin. Which means the only reason I

  654. was going to the temple was because I was conscious

  655. of sin that I committed and I need to go get

  656. a sacrifice for. And repent. And Jesus was basically

  657. saying, number one, he's the ultimate sacrifice.

  658. But number two is I never made you to be aware

  659. of your sin constantly. Because as long as you

  660. dwell on the sin, you're never going to focus

  661. on him. True. If you're only focused on, this

  662. is what I've done and I've got to clean up, you're

  663. never going to self -help yourself. You can't

  664. get past it. Just as Ray can't fix Ray, Chris

  665. can't fix Chris, we have to go to those moments

  666. and say, Holy Spirit, I've done something wrong.

  667. What is it? Show me what it is. So it was never

  668. about the whole money part of it. He's flipping

  669. tables and all this stuff in the temple because

  670. they have made this to be a sin -conscious environment

  671. to where people are so conscious of everything

  672. they've done wrong, that they've got to go to

  673. the temple to get a sacrifice. And I just want

  674. you to come to the temple for me. And they were

  675. charging astronomical for taxes. And then I want

  676. you to realize that you are the temple now. And

  677. I don't need you to focus on it. If you go back

  678. and read the Gospels and how Jesus interacted

  679. with people that he interacted with, he only

  680. ever tells them, follow me. and pulls them out

  681. of some of the darkest places. And did not have

  682. to address whatever they were dealing with. He

  683. just said, follow me. They did the whole interaction

  684. with Judah. I was kind of interested in watching

  685. it, but I kind of hold a don't get connected

  686. to it in my heart. And I know that's what the

  687. director wanted to do. He wanted to put it through

  688. what Jesus' disciples were dealing with at that

  689. time. And you got to remind yourself not to get

  690. entranced like this is someone's vision or thoughts

  691. of what they proceed to happen. In which he had

  692. a group of people come together for it. Absolutely.

  693. But when they got with Judas and Judas had so

  694. much guilt piled on him and Jesus could see it

  695. See it into his heart and he even told him several

  696. times in there. I had your heart before You you

  697. know, I don't have your heart now and even to

  698. the point Jesus has all this piled on him and

  699. Jesus is washing his feet How he kept from breaking

  700. I don't understand but I love how they just let

  701. it be seen. They never hid how much guilt Judas

  702. had on him in those times. Not just that, and

  703. I didn't pick up, I think Amanda sent me a video

  704. maybe last week or last about someone talking

  705. about Judas. I had to go back and read it because

  706. I was like, I don't remember hearing this, but

  707. if you look at how the disciples interacted with

  708. Jesus, they was all Lord, except for Judas. Judas

  709. called him teacher. Yes. So it's all about how

  710. do you see Jesus personally? Because everyone

  711. else in the room understood that he was Lord

  712. in that moment. He was Lord, period. But for

  713. some reason, you still only saw him as a teacher.

  714. Is that because he... I haven't read Judas all

  715. the way. I've only glanced through what's, you

  716. know, popped up or what I've been led to pull

  717. up and research or double back and check. I think

  718. he battled what a lot of people, even my wife,

  719. battle is they don't understand because the time

  720. frames are so different. Not only the fact that

  721. we battle the distractions, they never even thought

  722. about what would be in their distraction realm

  723. now. For us to see it back through third time,

  724. you really have to go back and realize they had

  725. nothing entertaining. Unless it was themselves

  726. singing and dancing, or if the community might

  727. have had something going on, like singing and

  728. dancing from a wedding. Generally, there was

  729. no entertainment back then. I can see that. He

  730. constantly loathed and bathed in that guilt.

  731. How it didn't break him, I don't understand.

  732. I still do not understand. I would have broke.

  733. I couldn't help it. Is this the same time when

  734. he looks at Judas and says, go do what you've

  735. got to go do? Yes. It's in John 13, isn't it?

  736. I believe so. Because he was trying to get Judas...

  737. Yeah, he was trying to get Jesus not to preach.

  738. It was in that whole period where he's washing

  739. the feet, and then after that, someone's going

  740. to betray me and all this. And he looks at Judas

  741. and says, go do what you've got to go do. And

  742. the other disciples didn't even pick up on what

  743. was happening. They thought, one of the notes

  744. I have somewhere talked about, they thought he

  745. was just going to go count the money like he

  746. typically does. They had no idea that he was

  747. the one. that Jesus was referring to. And Jesus

  748. never exposed him. Wouldn't, would not. Even

  749. when he was literally sitting right beside him,

  750. he never would expose him. Never, never exposed

  751. him. Other than, some theologians I've read say

  752. that John may have knew, because I know Peter

  753. asked John, because John's the one leading on

  754. the breast, and he says, ask him who's been a

  755. betrayer. And someone put that Jesus may have

  756. whispered, the one who did. The one I broke bread

  757. with. Broke bread with me. And so John may be

  758. the only person to know. I think it was James.

  759. I'd have to go back and watch it, but I thought

  760. it was James who told John, which is Simon, that

  761. it was Judas who he broke bread with. It could

  762. be. That's how it was portrayed in The Chosen.

  763. I know that, but I'm pretty sure it was James

  764. who he was talking to. I'd have to go back and

  765. read it, but it's just... still the fact that

  766. Jesus knew what was happening this whole time.

  767. Washing his feet and then tells him, go ahead,

  768. go do what you gotta go do. You gotta betray

  769. me, go ahead. When they, I know we've gotten

  770. way off between the teachers and servants. That's

  771. fine. When Jesus was praying at that time in

  772. the olive grove and He had John and all them

  773. watch for him. And he kept catching them sleeping.

  774. And there they portrayed him having the vision

  775. of the one who went to sacrifice his son. Abraham.

  776. When he went to sacrifice his son. And the son

  777. asked, he's like, Dad, we got the firewood. But

  778. we don't have the sacrifice. Where's the sacrifice?

  779. And Abraham and Elizabeth said, the Lord will

  780. provide the land. And I think they portrayed

  781. that great Jesus realizing, you're called to

  782. be this land. You're going to sacrifice yourself

  783. for these people. I need you to do this because

  784. nobody else is able. And from that point on,

  785. he did it with a grateful heart. He's like, OK,

  786. this is what I'm here for, for your people, for

  787. my people, for this church to sacrifice myself

  788. for. And that taught me sacrificing myself daily,

  789. denying what I want, for my kids I'm now teaching

  790. them. Yeah, you come home from school, you want

  791. to go do what you want to do, you want to relax.

  792. If it's playing your video game, or stop playing

  793. basketball, you know that. But when me and your

  794. mother are telling you, alright, before you do

  795. what you want to do, give time to God. Spend

  796. 10 or 15 minutes. Thank him for, you know, you

  797. made it home safely from school. Yeah. Thank

  798. him that you come home to a house that has power,

  799. that has food in it, that has running water.

  800. You're able to make yourself something. You're

  801. not sitting here with a couple crumbs in the

  802. cabinet waiting on a parent who works three jobs

  803. to come home with whatever little leftover they

  804. can afford to share with you. Find things constantly

  805. to be thankful for. And the more you practice

  806. being humble, Practice showing that you're humble,

  807. the more things God blesses you with. So, if

  808. you come home and you're like, oh thank you God,

  809. we made a home safely. Oh, come out of the shower,

  810. thank you God, we got, you know, a shower. I'll

  811. humble myself. I don't always take a hot shower.

  812. I try to at least once a week take a cold one.

  813. That humbles me for the next time when I take

  814. that hot shower, like, oh it's so amazing to

  815. have hot water. Deny myself. helps me draw closer

  816. to God and also when my kids watch me deny myself

  817. they're learning you got to deny yourself you

  818. have to die daily for what you want and teach

  819. your kids that mm -hmm yeah you would love to

  820. go home keep your feet up watch whatever you

  821. enjoy watching doing whatever you enjoy doing

  822. but you realize when you get home your home still

  823. growing it's still got things to do You might

  824. have run out the door with a messy kitchen. Or,

  825. you know, one of your kids might have made a

  826. mess in the bathroom. You didn't realize. You

  827. come back home, you thought sitting down. No,

  828. you've got to suffer what you want and go take

  829. care of what needs to be taken care of. That

  830. teaches kids to forget about themselves. And

  831. when you can forget about yourself and what you

  832. want, you can forget about a lot of your problems.

  833. Serving others helped me to realize my problems

  834. are not that big. I can, you know, I can forget

  835. about a lot of things. Knee pain. I can forget

  836. about that. It's hard. You start wrapping that

  837. towel around yourself and seeing other people.

  838. Yeah. And you start going for others and often

  839. your problems are not that big. You know, they're

  840. nothing. Yep. I used to battle having sleep problems.

  841. Sleep four or five hours a night. Couldn't sleep

  842. no more. I'd be up. My thing was, okay, if you're

  843. not sleeping enough at night, you're not working

  844. hard enough throughout the day. That's a half

  845. truth. You need to work hard throughout the day.

  846. It does not have to be a manual, rough, you know,

  847. blood, sweat, and tears labor. It can be a labor

  848. for someone else. And your humbleness for doing

  849. it for others gives you peace at night where

  850. you can sleep earnestly, restfully. You can come

  851. alive the next day feeling amazing. Sure can.

  852. And literally you might have only helped somebody

  853. sweep floors the next day before. You might not

  854. even hardly broke a sweat, but your soul will

  855. give you peace to sleep at night with no issues.

  856. And I was blown away when I first figured this

  857. out and started doing it. I sleep so much better

  858. now. I mean, 90 % of the time, you know, when

  859. your spirit's tired and you need to rejuvenate

  860. your spirit, you, I'm learning that. There's

  861. a day you don't have to stop and you got to rejuvenate

  862. yourself. Your spirit needs rejuvenation. It

  863. has to be recharged. Yes. And that day, for me,

  864. was Thursday. Yeah, Thursday. I was just run

  865. down, didn't want to do nothing. didn't feel

  866. like they didn't have energy and it wasn't until

  867. that night when I laid down and I was getting

  868. woke up at three o 'clock in the morning I'm

  869. like okay there's something in me that's not

  870. happy and I got to figure out what it was and

  871. it was my spirit needed recharge I hadn't took

  872. time and just relaxed thought about what God

  873. had done for me throughout that week how he blessed

  874. me 100 % and got back my spirit connected to

  875. the charger and recharge myself for the next

  876. week. I'm recharged now. I'm feeling great. I

  877. prayed a lot. I cried a lot that day. Saturday

  878. morning when we come in, we've done the corporate

  879. prayer here. That hour felt like five minutes.

  880. It was about so fast and I'm laying there, I'm

  881. like... I felt like five minutes and I just looked

  882. over at my phone and I'm like... It's the same

  883. one, you know, you mentioned a while ago, but

  884. what I try to tell the teenagers is just start

  885. with five minutes, just five minutes with God,

  886. whatever that looks like. I don't know if I've

  887. told this group yet, but we have told a group

  888. before, like how many go to the bathroom at least

  889. once a day and you're in there for like 10 minutes?

  890. I said, how many have one of these little doohickeys?

  891. I said, there's a Bible app. I said, if that's

  892. where it starts, I said, my God, at least do

  893. something. I said, you can't tell me you don't

  894. have five minutes that you can give. But the

  895. more you do that, the more it becomes just like

  896. what you just said. The five minutes turns into

  897. an hour that only feels like five minutes. But

  898. it's amazing, though, because if you really think

  899. about that, he can redeem time. Oh yeah. So if

  900. you spend two hours with him and need to go get

  901. something done, there's something, and I've heard

  902. stories about this, where God can make a way

  903. for that still gets done and you still feel like,

  904. how did I do that? How did that work? How did

  905. that work the way you did? I have felt things

  906. like that. I want to say I have been a part of

  907. it, but I'm not 100 % on remembrance. But I know

  908. that like, Trying to do a favor for someone else

  909. might have interfered with my plan or something

  910. I needed to get through and Because I'm like,

  911. you know what? I'll forget myself. I'll reschedule

  912. that I'll do it later or you know, I'll just

  913. whatever time I get through it when I get through

  914. it and Because I give up myself God made a way.

  915. Oh you made it just a time with something somebody

  916. Yeah, come on in, you know, we made a way for

  917. you. Come on in We got it taken care of. And

  918. he will do that a lot. It's just crazy. It's

  919. amazing. I love it. When we talk to some friends

  920. of ours about where we live at, we don't brag

  921. about our house. We have a 100 -year -old farmhouse.

  922. We opened up one of the walls the other day because

  923. we were replacing our door. We have a 32 -inch

  924. door, a standard exterior door, 36. We have to

  925. redo that whole setup. We pour into our walls

  926. and look we have all rough cut lumber We have

  927. true 2x4s and true 4x4s all in our house And

  928. I had to stop and just look at it and be amazed

  929. like how old my house is We have no insulation

  930. in the walls we build out I'm pretty sure our

  931. house is the same way But I took a video the

  932. other last week when it was storming in Mount

  933. Mary but not at all off the mountain because

  934. we have a mountain view that looks over North

  935. Carolina. Oh wow. And I took a picture and I'm

  936. sitting there looking at it and I'm like, it's

  937. so easy for me to walk outside and be humbled

  938. just for what I have around me just by looking.

  939. Because I have amazing views that most people

  940. can't even paint. I know I couldn't paint them.

  941. So the fact that God gave them to me and put

  942. me there to see all the time, I have to constantly

  943. just be thankful for it. There's no other way

  944. I could be. A grateful heart. I have to be. I

  945. couldn't even see no other way of being for it.

  946. That's crazy. But those kind of views, though,

  947. you can't... Man, I mean, every time I look at

  948. it, it never, never ceases to just bring amazement

  949. out of me. And you know, I don't know if you

  950. have thoughts like this, but when you see stuff

  951. like that, and it's like, and he created me,

  952. died for me and you. Yeah. But then I get to

  953. see this. Yeah. I've got to be a part of this.

  954. Sometimes if you really think about it and let

  955. it get to you, it's overwhelming when you think

  956. about it. I think it sets off anxiety in my wife,

  957. but to me it sparks excitement. I guess we're

  958. men and women are so much different. What triggers

  959. anxiety in me will spark excitement in her. What

  960. sparks anxiety in her can spark excitement in

  961. me. I can be grateful for it. And I got to teach

  962. my kids also to look at that. Don't get overwhelmed

  963. from what you see. Yes, it's great. Take it in.

  964. Understand how powerful it is. But don't let

  965. it overwhelm you. It's not in your control. It

  966. don't have to be. Yeah. You know, storms going

  967. on around our house. It's not in our control.

  968. We can't do nothing other than sit here and thank

  969. God that our house ain't falling. Yeah. Or that

  970. we still have power. You know, we've lost power

  971. at our house for five days. The first two years

  972. we lived there, we never lost power more than

  973. an hour. My mom kept losing it, and she lives

  974. down in Arad at the bottom of the mountain. We

  975. never lost it. And then last year, three different

  976. times, we're hit a week at a time with no power.

  977. My parents never lost it. I was more thankful

  978. for me to lose power than my parents, because

  979. my parents are all disabled. They ain't on heart

  980. machines or monitors or anything that requires

  981. electricity, but... I got to choose one of the

  982. two of us. Yeah, I know I can survive. I can

  983. get outside and cook on a grill and make food

  984. for my family. My father's in a wheelchair. He

  985. can't do that. Especially in a rainstorm. I wouldn't

  986. even begin. I would have to go down there and

  987. do it for him. Yeah. And I'm still visioning

  988. my look off of my property, and I'm still just

  989. like, I smile about it. Ever show it to you?

  990. Uh -uh. Oh, Lord. I'm going to show you this

  991. picture. It's actually a little video. I did

  992. the picture first. But I like the video. You

  993. gotta hit the play button on this. Oh my goodness.

  994. We'll give him a minute to look at this. Oh my

  995. goodness. And if you're looking about, you can

  996. see Winston Salem. I'll zoom in, you can see

  997. the building from Winston Salem. King. Yeah,

  998. that's, that's uh... You can't paint that. You

  999. can't, yeah. You can't do nothing with that.

1000. I mean, I'm sure somebody could, but that's just

1001. wild to look at. Right? So I walk outside every

1002. morning, because that's my routine. My wife always

1003. talk about picking your first part of your day

1004. and dedicating it to God. God forgive me. The

1005. first thing I gotta do is go to the restroom.

1006. I'm gonna get over. When I get up, I'm gonna

1007. go to the bathroom. And then I'm going to find

1008. me something to drink because my mouth's dry.

1009. I just gave up my fluids I had. And then the

1010. next thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go

1011. sit down, generally outside, where it's quiet

1012. and I'm not disturbed. And I have to sit down,

1013. get comfortable, realize I've got to feed animals.

1014. There's my cat screaming at me, or my kid's cat,

1015. or the dog's one outside. I have to stop what

1016. I'm doing, tend to them. Take care about that.

1017. I've read, you know, I'm not an animal. Lover

  1018. like I don't hate animals, but I'm not like I'm

1019. not gonna make it mine. You're okay if they're

1020. not there, too Yeah, yeah, it don't bother me

1021. if I didn't have But now that they're at my house.

1022. I know okay I want to sit down and I want to

1023. spend time with God but God wants me to provide

1024. for my animals first get the distraction out

1025. of the way because if you sit down beforehand

1026. you're not going to know they're just gonna distract

  1027. me and I can't I can't give him what I 100 %

1028. so when I sit down outside and I Pull up either

1029. my Bible app or if I just sit there and I start

1030. praying and thanking him my days go so much smoother

1031. and My relationship with my wife and kids Don't

1032. get attacked as bad because I started off my

1033. day with the first things first and Me and crystal

1034. learned that in marriage. We learned that in

1035. our relationship. We didn't get married We went

1036. six or seven years together off and on fighting

1037. breaking up before we ever decided to get married

1038. looking back after nine or ten years of marriage

1039. I think it was like seven years why wait why

1040. did I wait I know now why I waited I was scared

1041. yeah I was terrified of who she was and that

  1042. I couldn't control it and I wouldn't marry her

1043. but then I realized When you build a house if

1044. you don't protect it with the right insurance

1045. You're gonna constantly live in worry losing.

1046. Yeah, so when we got married we basically insured

1047. our marriage we put God in our marriage and a

1048. lot of attacks got Blocked took away and we didn't

1049. battle those things no more then we were able

1050. to work on the married and adjust to each other

1051. to create this bond that God wanted us to have

1052. and with him. Now it took a long time for the

1053. glue to get mixed up you know yeah because I

1054. didn't follow God as closely as I should. I was

1055. a Sunday and pray for me when I needed it. I

1056. didn't take time pray for others. I didn't take

1057. time and realize how much my kids needed that.

1058. But when my eyes were open to it, then I knew,

1059. okay, you got to teach your kids while you're

1060. being taught yourself because you want to teach

1061. yourself. And that's in the Bible. You got to

1062. teach and be taught. Even if you're teaching

1063. your kids and you're learning yourself. Yes,

1064. I know I've seen this so much that we wasn't

1065. taught because They were distracted. And how

1066. many times I learned through my kids. Ain't that

  1067. amazing? There's been a number, I've told Katelyn

1068. before, I know I'm supposed to be your dad and

1069. teaching you, but there's so many times she teaches

1070. me stuff and I'm like, wow. Don't tell my oldest

1071. son this. I got my boldness from him. I was not

  1072. a bold person. I was a very shy person. I didn't

1073. step out. boldly I was not that person but when

1074. I started watching my 8 year old do it walk up

1075. to a group of strange guys and just become one

1076. of them instantly like bonded sometimes he goofed

1077. up sometimes they laughed at it it may not have

1078. been all five of them in the crowd that he got

1079. their attention but if he got the attention of

1080. one he got in and he done what he set out to

1081. do which was to become part of that crowd And

1082. he was bold about it, and now I am now bold about

1083. it because he taught me that. And now I took

1084. what I've learned from it and grew it, and I'm

1085. teaching our others about it. If I can get my

1086. wife to do it. My wife can lead our girls. We

1087. did get her on the panel. That was a shock, even

1088. for our kids. They're like, I can't believe you

1089. got mom up there. There was something. God moves

1090. somewhere. I think Christie was up there with

1091. the biggest help. I can see that. You know, women

1092. battle the same things that men do in fear, anxiety,

1093. and stuff. They need someone that's not afraid

1094. to step out in that boldness to call the others

1095. into it. And they will. And I think it helps,

1096. as men, we help push them. Oh, yeah. You can

1097. do this. You got this. Oh, yeah. Same with the

1098. kids. You can do this overcome that the next

1099. biggest thing that I've been Pursued of his practice

1100. we talked about this on the panel. I still talk

1101. about it with my kids. You got a practice You

1102. got a practice been humble. You got a practice

1103. been remorseful. You got a practice when you

1104. sin and you repent, you got to practice repenting.

1105. You're not going to do it right the first time.

1106. You're not going to walk around and be like,

1107. God, I'm so sorry, please forgive me. That might

1108. be your practice one, but you better get serious

1109. about it. You got to find the meaning in it.

1110. Because you just saying you're sorry constantly

1111. is not really doing nothing. No, because you

1112. got to make sure that you're learning from your

1113. apology. You're not going to do it no more because

1114. you know how much you've had to go through just

1115. to repent. Yep. Practice is a big thing in my

1116. house. You know, I know to people that are big

1117. in sports, you gotta practice. You gotta practice.

1118. Same thing with your Bible. You gotta practice.

1119. You gotta practice reading it. You can't sit

1120. down and read your Bible in five minutes and

1121. think that you learned something because you

1122. got distracted. You gotta learn to get rid of

1123. distractions. You gotta practice it. And in time,

1124. you know, nobody wakes up 6 o 'clock in the morning

1125. Chipper ready to go sit down, drink coffee, and

1126. read the Bible. Those people scare me. If there's

1127. anyone like that, those people will scare me.

1128. I'm probably going to scare you because when

  1129. I learned it, it didn't take me long. I was a

1130. fast learner. It took me like two weeks to realize

1131. I can sit in peace. I've always knew that first

1132. thing in the morning was my time. More of the

1133. people that can wake up to Chipper, like I need

1134. you to have some coffee or something before you

1135. just get out Chipper. Well, when the... When

1136. you sleep right, you can wake up in a great mood.

1137. This is true. Because when I was a teenager,

1138. I was the guy, the teenage boy that got up all

1139. happy. That was me. And I kicked off all of the

1140. house. Because they're like, why are you in such

  1141. a good mood? And I'm like, I slept fine. I don't

1142. know what y 'all did. Yeah. Nothing to stir my

1143. sleep. I slept great. I wake up like a million

1144. dollars. Let's do this. This has probably been

1145. my longest podcast, and I don't want to really

1146. close it, but it's getting close to 430. Let

1147. me ask you a couple questions and get your feedback.

1148. I'll try to make a short answer. What advice

1149. would you give to a man trying to lead like Jesus

1150. in a culture that rewards domination? Read it

1151. one more time. What advice would you give to

1152. a man who's just trying to lead his family like

1153. Jesus? What's something that you've learned through

1154. your own battles that you could help. I could

1155. probably go just a couple of minutes, but how

1156. would you talk about the whole practice thing?

1157. What would you tell a man if he's trying to lead

1158. like Jesus? React in a way that you would want

1159. to be reacted to. So put yourself in the child's

1160. shoes. So if you told your child, look, there's

1161. only two cookies left. One's mine and one's your

1162. mama's. and ten minutes later you come back and

1163. yours was eaten, or your momma's, you know, your

1164. wife was eaten, of course you're going to give

1165. up yours to your wife. But when you call your

1166. child in there, you already know which child

1167. did it. They got the cookie crumbs on their shirt,

1168. some stuck to their lip, you know who did it.

1169. You want to be serious, but you also want to

1170. communicate the, you want to explain the guilt

1171. that they feel. Because to a child, they don't

1172. understand what guilt is. They just have a feeling

1173. inside that they know they did wrong, and they

1174. don't understand it. So when you explain to them

1175. why they feel like that, and what brought that

1176. feeling on, they're not going to want that feeling

1177. back no more. And you can help with being that

1178. way. Alright, so last one. If Jesus led your

1179. home or your workplace, whatever, you have your

1180. own business, If Jesus was to walk in and lead

1181. your home or your business, what would change

  1182. tomorrow? That's something maybe that you're

1183. working on now in life. What would change if

1184. Jesus walked into my home and started to lead

1185. it? No pressure. No, it wouldn't be a lot more

1186. corrections for me, I would say. Him. Kind of

1187. like the owner and the supervisor would get together

1188. in their private meetings. The same in the home.

1189. I'm the leader of the home. So Jesus would take

1190. me aside and be like, look, these are your weak

1191. areas. These are what you need strength in. This

1192. is where I want you to pay attention because

1193. I'm going to take over in these aspects. And

1194. he's going to do the right thing. He would teach

1195. me the same way that he taught his disciples.

1196. It gives a whole new meaning to, when you're

1197. weak, I'm strong. Yeah. And He wants you to be

1198. weak. I didn't know that. He wants you to be

1199. weak and I'm like, why? Because when you can

1200. admit that, then you have to rely on Christ in

1201. me to do this. I have to rely on Him when I'm

1202. weak. He is my strength and to realize that I

1203. can't be strong without Him. It brings tears

1204. to the eyes to think about it, but that's what

1205. He wants. That's exactly what He wants. And you

1206. got to teach your kids to be the same way. To

1207. be weak. But isn't that what we, as bad as that,

1208. not what we want our kids to rely on us for?

1209. Hey, when you're weak at something, like... I

1210. don't think you would want them to be weak. Not

1211. necessarily weak, but you enjoy those moments

1212. when they come to you, like, Dad, how do I do

1213. this? Yeah. Makes you, like, makes you feel important.

1214. Yeah. Whether if they know how to do it or not,

1215. they could be just doing it to benefit you. It's

1216. just, to me, I guess it's just like, he's put

1217. stuff already inside of us. Yeah. But we're relying

1218. on him, like, well, help me figure this out.

1219. I know you put stuff in me, but okay, here's

1220. this podcast. I know this is in me, but you can't

1221. help me with this. Where do I go with it? Yeah.

1222. What questions do I ask, you know? How do we

1223. make this work? I sent you a whole list of stuff.

1224. We didn't touch hardly any of it. The stuff was

1225. just an outline. It was like a fenced in yard.

1226. We got in a play. I told you, don't ever think

1227. it, and whenever we start talking, this is how

1228. we're going to roll. Yeah, it worked out great.

1229. And if it helps one man, then I'm all for it.

1230. I'm all for it. Heavenly Father, thank you for

1231. such a wonderful blessing you bestowed upon us

1232. daily. gifts we receive that we may not even

1233. realize are gifts. They just come so naturally

1234. from you. We may overlook them. God, these words
