  1. If you've been listening for a while, you may

  2. know this podcast has had a few names. It started

  3. with Metanoia Ministries, a call to rethink everything.

  4. Then it became Echoes of Eden, rediscovering

  5. the original design of humanity. But over time,

  6. something became clear. The heartbeat behind

  7. all of this is family, the family of God. the

  8. restoration of sons and daughters. And that's

  9. why everything is now moving under one banner,

  10. Kingdom Family Ministries. Hey guys, this will

  11. be a different type of episode. If you're on

  12. YouTube, there won't be no video this week. There's

  13. just going to be audio. but I am joined by my

  14. wife this week. You can say hello to everybody.

  15. So this episode will be a little bit different,

  16. not with teaching, not doing Greek words and

  17. all that kind of stuff. But if you've been with

  18. me from the beginning, you know this podcast,

  19. we started it with Metanoi Ministries and then

  20. we shifted into Echoes of Eden. And today, we're

  21. now stepping into, I guess, stepping fully into

  22. the new name, Kingdom Family Ministries. It just

  23. feels like the right time. But I wanted to share,

  24. and that's why I had my wife join me, I wanted

  25. to share some of our journey and how we got to

  26. this point. and we're not just changing names.

  27. I'm not just changing names to change names.

  28. This just feels right, I guess I could say. Betanoia

  29. was about awakening. It's a renewing of the mind,

  30. a turning toward truth. It was about realizing

  31. that repentance is not shame. It's not, I'm sorry,

  32. it's restoration. It's remembering. who you are,

  33. that you're remembering whose you are. Echoes

  34. of Eden was about remembering, remembering where

  35. we came from, who we were before the fear and

  36. distortion, before religion tried to define us.

  37. It was about going back to the beginning, essentially.

  38. That was my real... I have two devotionals out.

  39. I have the one more geared toward men. But then

  40. I have my 30 day echoes of Eden. And that was

  41. in a time frame where, and you can step in any

  42. time you want to. That was a time frame of when

  43. I was really jealous and going after, I guess

  44. our origin. is what I want to say going back

  45. to the beginning how it was supposed to be in

  46. the garden and both of those names still matter

  47. I'm not discarding nothing nothing's being undone

  48. we're just in a point and I'm just in a point

  49. of where I'm trying to make everything simple

  50. and put everything under one heading and given

  51. where life has led us I feel like that time is

  52. or that name is kingdom family ministries Anything

  53. you wanna add over there before I keep going?

  54. I think that the Echoes of Eden was more of like

  55. a renewal period for you or for us, I guess I

  56. would say, but just trying to go back to the

  57. very beginning, foundationally. That makes sense.

  58. So in this episode I really want to share our

  59. story and what the future looks like as far as

  60. the podcast and transitioning over. We have launched,

  61. I've launched a YouTube channel. We just finished

  62. up eight weeks of teaching on the revelation

  63. of Christ and all. That was a big passion I guess

  64. of mine and did get me into some trouble. But

  65. it's something I can't I mean you've you've watched

  66. me kind of work this stuff out. It's something

  67. I can't I Guess unsee is the word You know, we've

  68. had the conversation plenty of times it would

  69. be easier to go back For me it would be easier

  70. to go back and teach how I used to teach which

  71. I guess part of that would be more of behavior

  72. modification type deals. Try to get a bunch of

  73. people just to fix your behavior and do better,

  74. you suck. That kind of thought versus what I'm

  75. teaching now is more rooted in identity and love

  76. and acceptance and the fact that the truth is,

  77. and to me, the gospel is, it is. Christ in all.

  78. And there's no reservations when I say that,

  79. like the Muslim, the homosexual, the member of

  80. the LGBT, the murderer, the rapist, all that,

  81. you name it, Christ is in all. They just may

  82. not be aware of this yet. So that was my first

  83. eight -week series for the YouTube kind of the

  84. relaunch of this podcast And the more and more

  85. life just kind of unfolded I felt like it was

  86. the right time to switch everything and I hate

  87. switching Things because it feels like you're

  88. unclear, but I really feel like this was a path

  89. that led to this moment I Mean do you agree disagree?

  90. She has a softer voice than I do Think I'm just

  91. loud So we're just gonna go through some of our

  92. story And then we'll just see where it takes

  93. us and that way people can help kind of understand

  94. how we got to this point We're just going through

  95. some of our history I guess and So we got married

  96. at what 21 22 a long time ago, it feels like.

  97. I'm four years away from 40 now, hush. 21, 22,

  98. and essentially right out the gate, we stepped

  99. into youth ministry. And I'm just going to stick

  100. to kind of more of the facts that led us to where

  101. we are here. There's a lot of stuff we could

  102. talk about and address, and we may do that later.

  103. But being with that first group that we had,

  104. which was an amazing group, I still remember

  105. all of them. But we got the opportunity. And

  106. I forget what year it was. I guess if we got

  107. married in 2008, maybe it was 2009, 2010. I don't

  108. remember when we went. But we had the opportunity,

  109. the pastor, we had the time. And let me back

  110. up before I go into all this. This is going to

  111. be my rabbit hole moment. I grew up in a divorced

  112. home. which you did too. We both grew up in church.

  113. You grew up Westland, but went to a Baptist Christian

  114. school. That was a fun time. I grew up in a joint

  115. custody home. When I was with dad, we went to

  116. different Baptist churches. uh the last one i

  117. can remember was an independent baptist and i

  118. don't know what all the baptists are as far as

  119. independent and i don't know what the difference

  120. are um but with him we went to a baptist church

  121. with mom we was at a non -denominational church

  122. and the one thing i can say is although especially

  123. now um i disagree with some of the theology And

  124. I know I've said this on an earlier podcast,

  125. but just because I disagree with the theology

  126. does not mean I dislike the people and I'm attacking

  127. the people because they were good people. I have

  128. no doubt they love people. They love God. These

  129. were good hearted people. So I just say that

  130. because I don't want people to constantly think

  131. that I'm attacking The pastors the leaders and

  132. stuff like that that I've had in my life. It's

  133. just The mindset and the thought processes and

  134. I'm not saying I'm 100 % right So there's that

  135. Trying to think of how real and transparent I

  136. want this to be Divorced home that was at seven.

  137. I was seven years old When my mom and dad divorced

  138. so most of my childhood and was grown up in separate

  139. homes Kind of learning Kind of learning essentially

  140. how to play both sides Trying to please both

  141. mom and dad for a long time so there's that um

  142. you know that was some abuse and trauma growing

  143. up you know i feel like that's most of us in

  144. this world because we all are human and not every

  145. parent gets it right even when they do the best

  146. they can not every parent and i'm speaking as

  147. a dad we don't always get it right um you're

  148. just gonna You are At least I have evidence she

  149. does agree with me on some things But that was

  150. just kind of my life growing up I know you that

  151. you had a divorced Mom and dad to you and grew

  152. up in church. So both of us grew up in church

  153. So we got married I Knew we would be in church

  154. And I always felt a call to youth ministry. So

  155. anyhow, fast forward now. That's kind of some

  156. of my back story from my childhood. 2009, 2010,

  157. we had the opportunity with our pastors then

  158. and some of the leadership team to go to Ron

  159. Carpenter Church in South Carolina. Where was

  160. it? I don't remember where, what. Anyhow, his

  161. name was, the church's name, Ron Carpenter, is

  162. it redemption? Was that the name of the church?

  163. Redemption Church? Ron Carpenter? I think so.

  164. Think so? It used to be what John Gray's church

  165. is now, isn't it? Yeah, but he's changed the

  166. name of it, so I don't remember. So we had the

  167. opportunity to go there and All the our pastor

  168. leadership team and all of them went to the I

  169. think the actual service and they got some behind

  170. -the -scenes look at stuff Me and you went to

  171. the youth service Did not know at the time that

  172. there was a guest speaker To my knowledge. I

  173. don't remember having that information beforehand

  174. But Damon Thompson just happened to be the guest

  175. speaker that night and i can remember i don't

  176. remember his name but i remember meeting the

  177. youth leader i guess and if it's the guy was

  178. remembering right he was a big tall black pokey

  179. guy like not someone i'd want to play with um

  180. but i can remember i even have the notes i think

  181. from the message they administered on the last

  182. that night and it was uh is what he was ministering

  183. on. And I don't think I ever really paid attention

  184. to recently reflecting back on being in that

  185. room. They had a huge room for their teenagers.

  186. Probably about the size of a gymnasium. If not

  187. bigger, partly. But he had a, Damon had a hat

  188. on, and I just, I knew something was different

  189. about him. I probably looked him up afterwards

  190. and realized he had connections with the ramp

  191. at one point, you know, all this. But then walking

  192. through some of that, that was then, ended up

  193. a couple years later, the church doors closed.

  194. We went through another season of being was it

  195. called interim pastors And we struggled I struggled

  196. Just with trusting certain aspects of church

  197. in that moment Again good -hearted people But

  198. that season may have lasted, what, six months?

  199. But I did get the opportunity. We dedicated Kaylyn,

  200. our first daughter, and first child. We dedicated

  201. her during that time period. So I don't regret

  202. it. I don't think I regret any of these seasons.

  203. Fast forward after that we was at a church again

  204. because we ended up grabbing our stuff and we

  205. parted ways and then fast forward what three

  206. six months later probably six months we had a

  207. former pastor invite us to a church and having

  208. dealt with some stuff before I was dead set against

  209. it. And you came out of the shower and said,

  210. I think we need to go to this church. And we

  211. did. First service there, God called us out.

  212. Fast forward a little bit from that point, we

  213. went back into youth ministry. I remember the

  214. pastor there approaching us and asking us to

  215. pray about it. And I told him I didn't need to

  216. pray about it because we'd already talked about

  217. it. Again, I felt like this was the gift and

  218. a call that's been on our life. my wife, our

  219. family. I think it's how we got to where we are

  220. today. So, went from there, went through some

  221. different seasons with churches and ministry

  222. to before our last adventure. But we also had

  223. some hiccups in our marriage along the way. thanks

  224. to me. I definitely had some of my struggles

  225. involving or the word be I'm looking for infidelity.

  226. Would that be how you would define that? And

  227. I think a lot of it is looking back is I was

  228. not healed I knew how to play the system Church

  229. has taught me how to wear a mask And being in

  230. the church world and divorced home You learn

  231. how to hide things And I did that. I did that

  232. to you. I did that to our family. Not once, but

  233. twice. Second time dealing with some major grief

  234. on top of it and never having experienced that.

  235. I think I'm somebody that can tell people now

  236. that even grief can take you on a dark road if

  237. you're not careful. But it's one of those things.

  238. It's one of those things I question nowadays.

  239. Do I regret the journey? I regret hurting people

  240. along the way. But I think it's helped make me

  241. who I am today. And help us have the marriage

  242. and the family that we have today. a marriage

  243. that I've dreamed for. I mean, even the relationship

  244. with my children. It's still not perfect, but

  245. it's better. Could you attest to that? Do you

  246. have anything you want to add? Because you're

  247. very quiet over there. I know your voice is kind

  248. of out there, but. Not right now? You don't want

  249. to share nothing? I'm sorry for all my listeners.

  250. I was trying to get her more engaged in this,

  251. but she's just listening to me ramble. Who wants

  252. to do some hard seasons? Seasons that in some

  253. marriages wouldn't have lasted. And the last

  254. one, and I know I've told you this before, I've

  255. even mentioned this on when I've taught. But

  256. even the last one, when I lost myself, you never

  257. lost sight of me. And it was in that moment,

  258. I know we've talked about before, because you

  259. didn't know how to handle it, but I would think

  260. it was in that moment, I know it was in that

  261. moment that I actually saw the love of the Father

  262. through you. Because when I did everything to

  263. push you away and do just that the other You

  264. still saw me for who I actually was Which I know

  265. could not have been easy But you did And I would

  266. like to think that may have started some of this

  267. in my head I did get through this time period.

  268. I did go to Liberty University, graduated with

  269. a bachelor's. I'm not sure what for because I

  270. haven't used any of that yet in my life. It's

  271. just put me in debt. Trying to cover a lot of

  272. bases because I feel like this journey has been

  273. important to get us to where we are now. Because

  274. obviously everything that I'm doing today everything

  275. we're doing I'm doing is new like I Didn't have

  276. any idea how to do a podcast I've never launched

  277. a YouTube channel I'm working on my e -course.

  278. Hopefully with me having some time off this week.

  279. Maybe I can finish up those Classes and try to

  280. figure out how to then post it The first one

  281. will be to help men who are in a position where

  282. I was in. But I've never done this stuff. Everything's

  283. new, like it's all new. Even what we're doing,

  284. which I'll get to that story in a minute. Just

  285. everything's new. It's new, but it feels... It's

  286. new, but it feels right. Like I don't know how

  287. else to explain it, but to say that. But going

  288. through some challenging seasons and seeing things

  289. in a different light once I started on my journey

  290. of healing, which was probably what, 2022? Is

  291. that right? 2022, 2023? I think at that point

  292. I realized, because this is the second time we

  293. went to this type of thing, I finally realized

  294. I couldn't do this on my own. And so I talk about

  295. today just getting people to show up for the

  296. walk and go on the journey because that's what

  297. changed my life. I couldn't change me. I can't

  298. change me. But even walking about walking through

  299. our healing process You saw the changes in me

  300. before I did You saw the changes in our How can

  301. I say my children saw the changes before I did

  302. and you would even tell me that comments that

  303. were made by the kids That showed that something

  304. in me has changed even if I couldn't see it Kind

  305. of like being downstairs with Trinity and she

  306. looked at me and said why are you in a good mood?

  307. Nothing like a child to make you think But that

  308. spoke to me because she realized that he was

  309. in a good mood So we started the pipe I started

  310. the podcast with your push I say I in some of

  311. this because I'm doing most of it, but I couldn't

  312. do it without my wife. I couldn't do it without

  313. you. No, I could not. It's knowing that I have

  314. your support and your backing and you're one

  315. everybody else seems to not believe. You actually

  316. do believe in me and push me to keep going because

  317. there's times we have felt alone. throughout

  318. this journey, especially recently. And I'll get

  319. to that in a minute. So we started, I started

  320. the podcast with Metanoia Ministries. And again,

  321. Metanoia just being renewing of the mind. It's

  322. our word that we have in the scripture, repent,

  323. which I have a different understanding of now.

  324. It should never been translated, repent. But

  325. it's a turning toward truth. It's a way I like

  326. to explain it. It's just coming back to your

  327. original design. So that was the first launch

  328. when I first started the podcast. It was Metanoi

  329. Ministries. And that felt right at the time.

  330. And then we went through. I think you're right.

  331. I think the echoes of Eden, how'd you put it

  332. earlier? Renewal for me, renewal for us, renewal

  333. for our family. I think that transition, during

  334. the time, I didn't look to have necessarily ministries

  335. attached to what we were doing. We were involved

  336. in ministry. But all I felt like it was just

  337. the all I had at that moment was a podcast Because

  338. we were doing things with our church at the time

  339. being involved in youth ministry and all that

  340. kind of stuff still So I transitioned to Echoes

  341. of Eden which again an important shift an important

  342. name remembering where we came from Remembering

  343. who we were as sons and daughters Yeah, and so

  344. that brings us to the last Few months that we've

  345. had And how we got to the kingdom family ministry,

  346. so I guess it was first knock remember was the

  347. first Saturday in November where we had a meeting

  348. with our pastors at the time. And because of

  349. certain beliefs that I held, we were asked to

  350. step down from ministry. They didn't ask us to

  351. leave the church, but why would we stay? That

  352. was kind of our thought process. What was the

  353. purpose? And again, this is nothing toward the

  354. people. nothing toward the pastors we had at

  355. the time, nothing against anybody. But, you know,

  356. I reference the Holy Spirit as she at times.

  357. I'm not really jealous for either term, but that's

  358. another topic for another day. So that was an

  359. issue, and then believing that Christ was in

  360. all was an issue. and we knew it was coming we

  361. knew that just by how how we were being treated

  362. by certain people which I like how Martin Casto

  363. put it when we went up there to hear him that

  364. sometimes the people who mistreat you they're

  365. only mistreating you because they're ignorant

  366. they don't understand so not the same as stupid

  367. I'm not calling anybody that. I'm not calling

  368. anybody what? Ignorant. Ignorant is not a bad

  369. thing. Ignorant just means you don't know. Yeah,

  370. I think a lot of people take it. They take it

  371. as you're being called stupid, and that's not.

  372. Calling someone stupid is offensive, but ignorant

  373. is not an offensive word. It just means you don't

  374. understand. I'm ignorant of a lot of things,

  375. like I'm ignorant on how to work on a vehicle.

  376. and it's probably best that way for the sanity

  377. of everybody around me. I will pay somebody to

  378. do such and such. I'm ignorant on how to put

  379. up lights. That's why we had somebody else come

  380. and do that. But did I learn some of that in

  381. the process? Maybe. I might could do some wiring

  382. now. My wife does not agree, but I would like

  383. to give it a shot at something. But so we had

  384. that happen I've had my fun attacks on social

  385. media Everybody Comes out of the woodworks when

  386. you start believing a certain way But I think

  387. the part that I want people to understand is

  388. these are not overnight beliefs This is stuff

  389. I've wrestled with for two or three years before

  390. releasing it. And so we ended up leaving the

  391. church in November. There was a family that had

  392. brought, they had three teenagers that we were,

  393. they're youth pastors of course. And this family,

  394. every youth service we had would load up of load

  395. of teenagers to get them there. They wanted to

  396. continue this. So we did. And I think it's only

  397. because they saw the change in their teenagers.

  398. That's whatever we were doing and teaching was

  399. changing their lives. So we continued. So heck,

  400. we'll just do Bible study up there. We'll do

  401. our once a month service and I guess we had our

  402. first service what in November? or was it after?

  403. was it in December? no I want to say we did have

  404. one in November but I could be wrong I don't

  405. remember but I know we started Bible study at

  406. least And this is the part where you can feel

  407. free to speak up. Where we've had the services.

  408. Right in their backyard. God has showed up. And

  409. you're seeing young people being countered by

  410. the Father's love. Like I'm not just... Making

  411. this up you're seeing the same thing You know

  412. like the last one we just did we had a young

  413. 18 year old girl who? Did not want to be around

  414. people Kind of stayed off to the side we have

  415. what probably 10 10 12 teenagers 13 Did not want

  416. to be around people But by the end of it, after

  417. encountering love, began to dance with the rest

  418. of the circle. Like, you can't make that up.

  419. And I can't make that happen. The only thing

  420. I can say that we did was make space for an encounter.

  421. Make space for these kids to be loved on. I'm

  422. not jealous. anymore and there's still times

  423. that I want to teach on behavior when you got

  424. teenagers you want to talk about behavior and

  425. I can exhaust myself that way or I can just stick

  426. to teaching identity and teaching them who they

  427. are and trust Holy Spirit with the rest and you've

  428. been with me through both I mean you've been

  429. with me through how we used to lead and the stuff

  430. I used to teach and you saw where that life led

  431. me. But you've also been on the other end of

  432. this with this teaching and what it's done for

  433. me and our family and now what it's doing for

  434. others. Yep, not saying anything negative about

  435. that, but you can see Mindsets that are different

  436. than what we're teaching now attitudes That are

  437. different than what we're teaching now so just

  438. because you're raised in religion Doesn't mean

  439. that you turn out knowing the true love is That's

  440. that's true Because I think in our and maybe

  441. you can speak to this son I think in our Formative

  442. years of being a ministry and The first part

  443. of it I feel like maybe I was just regurgitating

  444. and reading the scripture through all the ends

  445. that I had been taught Whereas now I'm in a I'm

  446. in a place where I'm attempting to allow Holy

  447. Spirit to adjust that lens and allowing Holy

  448. Spirit to be the teacher that she needs to be

  449. in my life. And that has been a different journey,

  450. I guess I can say. It's not about regurgitating

  451. and I'm not trying to tear everything down, but

  452. I think it's important for us to not just read

  453. through a lens that we've been handled, handed,

  454. but to allow Holy Spirit to do the adjustment

  455. that's needed and to allow the Word of God sit

  456. down with us while we read a Word of God. Well

  457. at some point you have to remember that a pastor

  458. is just a man. For a woman and you know Not saying

  459. that their lens is wrong. That's right for them

  460. because the Holy Spirit God knows, you know how

  461. to reach every single person Doesn't make everybody's

  462. lens wrong. It's just how he reaches every person

  463. That's good. You can't reach the same people

  464. or everyone with the same thing they all go through

  465. different stories in life different roads in

  466. life you've got different backgrounds different

  467. family situations that you know people just can't

  468. relate to some people and that's not a bad thing

  469. it's not saying that you know that your gospel

  470. or your story is wrong but it it doesn't help

  471. someone reach someone who can't comprehend what

  472. you're going through or what someone else has

  473. been through. It's just like, you know, you compare,

  474. try comparing the love of a father to an orphan.

  475. You know, like, they don't get it. because they

  476. don't have anything to compare it to. You have

  477. to meet them on a level playing field. You have

  478. to understand where they're coming from and know

  479. someone's story to be able to adjust and not

  480. be so cocky and arrogant as to say, you know,

  481. Well, only this like this is how it's done. Yeah

  482. Well, okay. Well that may work for some people

  483. But everybody's not cookie -cutter. I think some

  484. people and that's good. I think some people Are

  485. in a place especially with in our part of the

  486. world how we've been trained in taught scripture.

  487. I Think there's some people that need to be told

  488. you're just a dirty person To make them get cleaned

  489. up then that may be their starting point. Kind

  490. of like, in my defense, I guess you could say

  491. what that would be, Abraham and Isaac, when God

  492. came and asked Abraham to sacrifice his son.

  493. First of all, I would never trust a God who asked

  494. me to sacrifice my kid. Like, not gonna happen.

  495. But, in that culture that was... something Abraham

  496. would have expected a God to do because of the

  497. different gods that they had. So God asking for

  498. that sacrifice did not come as a shock for Abraham.

  499. So God met Abraham in the place that he was until

  500. he was ready to have the conversation on top

  501. of the mountain that you will not be providing

  502. the sacrifice, I will be. You know you pick two

  503. random people on the street One person's got

  504. a big problem with pride. Mm -hmm. The other

  505. person has a very big problem with depression

  506. and anxiety Okay, the one with pride what would

  507. people say about that one? Oh, he needs to be

  508. knocked down a peg. Yeah, right Because he thinks

  509. too much of himself. Yeah. Okay, so one of the

  510. ways that is true you might he needs humbling

  511. you you know god won't need you he chose you

  512. yeah but he he doesn't need you for anything

  513. partners with you and chose you yes you know

  514. people think too much of themselves sometimes

  515. not in the best way you know there's a difference

  516. between like we've talked about before yes being

  517. humble but um then you look at you go to the

  518. other person who suffers with depression anxiety

  519. and self -worth you tell them that they're nothing

  520. well they already know they already think that

  521. about themselves yep so you're pushing that person

  522. towards a spiral possibly suicide because they

  523. can't handle being told that because they already

  524. believe it But what God sees is he needs them

  525. to see how much they are worth to him. What you

  526. tell him, this one over here with pride, God

  527. doesn't need you, but he chose you. You tell

  528. this one over here with depression, God chose

  529. you. Do you know how much he loves you? Almost

  530. the same thing. but there's a difference in how

  531. you have to approach each person. Yep, which

  532. I guess to my thoughts go to that's why you need

  533. the Holy Spirit. Right. And you need the Holy

  534. Spirit in a way that helps you see the Christ

  535. in both of those individuals so you can speak

  536. to that as a center daughter. Right. I forget

  537. where we were in this conversation, but Yes,

  538. the Holy Spirit's been teaching me a lot of these

  539. things which again people think that I've just

  540. made up in the past a little bit, but this is

  541. stuff that I've had to walk on this journey and

  542. this progression in this pathway with Holy Spirit

  543. teaching me and I'll never forget Just maybe

  544. it was around the time that this actually all

  545. started as far as some of this goes was being

  546. there when Lance Johnson Prayed over me and he

  547. said that the Holy Spirit would be the greatest

  548. teacher you've ever had And that's proven to

  549. be true. Like it leads me down past that a lot

  550. of people disagree I Get in trouble for it, but

  551. I almost feel like everything that I've been

  552. through with life has built me for that. And

  553. you know, so we've been doing these services

  554. with this family and I don't know where this

  555. is going. I don't know what God is actually doing.

  556. All I know is we're remaining faithful to say

  557. yes to this. But even our Bible studies on Wednesday

  558. night is completely different and feels so freeing.

  559. Like and I'll never forget just a couple Wednesdays

  560. ago when I had I was still in that mindset that

  561. Wednesday night is seven to eight And it was

  562. around little after eight and I said, I know

  563. I'm over my time Not thinking about what I was

  564. saying. I've been so trained in this seven to

  565. eight And everybody in the rims like who said

  566. And I didn't know what to do with that at first

  567. like cuz I'm so accustomed you know we got even

  568. told early in our ministry um that we need to

  569. keep stuff short because teenagers don't have

  570. that attention span well you're gonna have to

  571. convince me of that with these guys yeah because

  572. this whole family we can go for an hour and a

  573. half and they're still willing hungry for more

  574. we can do services and everybody knows i'm long

  575. -winded and they don't have any desire to like

  576. they're not antsy and wanting to stop They would

  577. keep going as long as we go. I mean, these guys

  578. specifically was there for our first youth conference

  579. we did. We didn't have a huge crowd, but that's

  580. what we felt like we needed to do was a youth

  581. conference. And they heard me talk all day long.

  582. I was exhausted. just because we didn't plan

  583. out things like we were supposed to and didn't

  584. follow up with certain things so I ended up speaking

  585. a lot more than I had planned on that day but

  586. they never lost a beat like they were engaged

  587. the entire day and that's not always been the

  588. case I mean I just let me how long we've been

  589. going 45 minutes so i think this is an important

  590. thing that i can interject here is that eden

  591. is not just a memory metanoia is not just a moment

  592. i think both of those were to lead to this point

  593. and i think they were meant to lead into family

  594. um i think they were meant to lead excuse me,

  595. they were meant to lead into family lived, relational,

  596. and everyday kingdom life. That kingdom family

  597. is where identity becomes practice, where sonship

  598. becomes rhythm, and where theology becomes flesh.

  599. It's where faith shows up in marriages like in

  600. our marriage, in parenting, and friendship, and

  601. conflict, and healing. and how we walked through

  602. the grocery store and the prayer closet in the

  603. same way. I just feel like I agree with what

  604. you said. I think both of those was different

  605. aspects of my journey and path that led here

  606. to now. And I don't mean this, if people hear

  607. this and think I'm just talking bad about the

  608. church, they don't know me. I grew up in church,

  609. I love the church, but unfortunately, especially

  610. in our neck of the woods, I don't know if there's

  611. a church that I can go to that would accept me

  612. for me and allow me to do what I'm called to

  613. do because I don't agree with their beliefs.

  614. is true because unfortunately i guess apparently

  615. a lot of people think that you know you have

  616. to agree on everything um you know in order to

  617. be able to worship together but that's not the

  618. case just just so y 'all know i mean i mean Bible

  619. says that you have there's only one way to God

  620. which is Jesus, you know the Sun Yeah, but a

  621. lot of people find Jesus in a whole lot of different

  622. ways sure do I Just And I don't want people to

  623. take that as that's what I'm doing is attacking

  624. the church because I'm not There's no part of

  625. what my intent is to do is to attack the church

  626. It's just my journey what I have learned and

  627. what we have built is we say we're all accepted,

  628. come as you are, but if I see things through

  629. a different lens, I'm now dangerous. I'm cast

  630. out because I've become dangerous to the system.

  631. Theology. Theology, but I think also I've become

  632. dangerous to the system. And my whole intent

  633. is to, even with what we have now starting and

  634. happening and whatever, is to get these teenagers

  635. to realize how valuable and important they are

  636. to be a part of a kingdom family, and that they

  637. can hear from the Holy Spirit at 13, 14, heck,

  638. our kids, seven, 11 years old. That they can

  639. hear from the Holy Spirit for themselves. You

  640. don't need me to be that voice. I will gladly

  641. do all this teaching, and I found this fascinating

  642. and fun. I will do this. But I don't want to

  643. build a culture and an environment to where they

  644. rely upon me to bring the work. Right. And I

  645. think that shows in our 11 year old. Yeah. I

  646. agree. But I think it's just this whole journey

  647. to get us here to where Yes, I struggled with

  648. changing the name of this podcast again, but

  649. I feel like it's right. I feel like everything

  650. that we're doing is now under or should be moved

  651. under the Kingdom Family Ministries where, you

  652. know, the part that I have added to or even our

  653. logo is restoring identity, rebuilding families,

  654. and advancing the kingdom. I feel like that's

  655. what my life has been about, what our life is

  656. about. That everything we do, we're talking about

  657. identity and restoring that, helping rebuild

  658. families. And how can we do that? Because we've

  659. seen our family rebuilt. We can help other marriages

  660. because we've had our marriage torn down and

  661. rebuilt. We've had our family torn down and rebuilt.

  662. I as a dad has had the relationship with my children

  663. feel like that was torn down and has been rebuilt

  664. and is being rebuilt. Like I think it's still

  665. as much as I am grateful for where our marriage

  666. is today, I'm excited to see where it is three

  667. years from now, 10 years from now. I'm excited

  668. to see how our marriage impacts our children

  669. and when they get married. And the same can be

  670. true with any part of our life. The relationship

  671. with our kids, our finances, I mean, you name

  672. it. I think our aim is seeing this rebuilt the

  673. way that Holy Spirit and the Trinity has purposed

  674. for it to be built. If that makes sense. trying

  675. to think where to go from here it's just like

  676. i don't know how it's a set except for it feels

  677. right i'm not just wanting to change a name but

  678. to change a name i feel like this is purposeful

  679. and i feel like this is the right direction um

  680. the youtube channel is already named this Facebook

  681. has already named this And so this would be our

  682. heading name Like there's still one that I'm

  683. working on is a father's forge that'll be the

  684. men's group that I focus on I want to see you

  685. step in later to address the women because I

  686. think you could help women but I think everything

  687. will now fall under this. I think it's just the

  688. right step for us to make as we move forward.

  689. And I think going forward, this podcast will

  690. continue to explore identity, union, scripture,

  691. transformation, but I think it's gonna always

  692. now... Not that it wasn't before but always through

  693. the lens of belonging Not just what do you believe

  694. but who do you belong to and who belongs to you

  695. Because even like I even tell the group on Wednesday

  696. night, I'm not really interested in you believe

  697. in just how I believe I'm Sharing my point of

  698. view to get you to rethink Because it's a journey

  699. for all of us I mean you even told me before

  700. you don't know that you're quite there with me

  701. on some things I believe in. It's a journey for

  702. you. And that's okay. And we stayed married.

  703. That's scary. But like there's a book that me

  704. and you are gonna do together that I'm interested

  705. in. Been sitting on the shelf for a little bit

  706. now but my wife is looking at me like whose fault

  707. is that? But it's just and I think I Think one

  708. of the areas I don't know if the struggle is

  709. the right word But I'm not one who just wants

  710. to sit around talk about the weather and do small

  711. talk Like this is the kind of stuff that fascinates

  712. me. I Love having these conversations. I love

  713. having our Wednesday night Bible study and they

  714. bring up questions and different points of view

  715. that makes me think yeah yeah I do and not so

  716. I can say well I'm right you're wrong but to

  717. go oh that's interesting it's kind of like Jason

  718. Clark talks about it on his rethinking Galataka's

  719. podcast and Him I forget who we was talking about

  720. but they were in a conversation about the goodness

  721. of God and it was always Both of them trying

  722. to one up each other Like he's good. Yes, and

  723. then the other one would rethink and say but

  724. easy this good and what I think that's the kind

  725. of thing I want to get to because I don't think

  726. there's any way you can Come up with anything

  727. in your mind where the goodness of God is That

  728. you've expressed the goodness of God more than

  729. how good he is. Does that make sense? I don't

  730. think you can do that. You can never come to

  731. the realization of just how good he is because

  732. he's that good. Exactly. It's kind of like, and

  733. I've told you this before, if I can take me as

  734. a man with limited knowledge, can take your gospel

  735. and make it better, then you don't have the gospel.

  736. And I want that to sound defensive, because that

  737. should make somebody rethink that if I can make

  738. your gospel better than what you're believing,

  739. it's kind of like Damon Thompson put, is it good

  740. news that you have to sit down and take a test

  741. and the teacher comes in and stands over your

  742. shoulder and gives you the answer? Yeah, it's

  743. good news. But what's better than that is when

  744. the teacher just says, get up and take the test

  745. for you. So the first one sounds like good news

  746. and it is good news But if I can one up that

  747. then you don't have the gospel because this is

  748. actually better news And so these are the kind

  749. of conversations I think we will continue having

  750. a lot more teaching Just like with the first

  751. Part of this the revelation of Christ and all

  752. that was a big one for me I'm pretty sure I know

  753. what we'll do starting next week But I also want

  754. to make sure and create space to have conversations

  755. like this Like we did the last season on the

  756. topic of me and like I want to sit down and have

  757. Conversations about marriage and family and parenting

  758. and all that kind of stuff. I think that's important

  759. And I don't know what that looks like. Again,

  760. I'm not the professional here to know. I'm still

  761. figuring this out. I feel like I'm stumbling

  762. around in a dark room. I'm not a professional

  763. podcaster. I don't... I don't know. I don't know

  764. where we go. I don't know what the future looks

  765. like. I just... No, and you can feel free to

  766. disagree. I just know in my heart that we're

  767. on the right path So I Think that's what's important

  768. and what I wanted my listeners to hear is That

  769. yes is another name change. We will kick off

  770. with Kingdom Family Ministries And this is why

  771. I didn't want people to just think we're just

  772. changing the name to change the name Like there's

  773. a purpose behind this. There's a journey behind

  774. this. There's heart behind this And I don't know

  775. that I would have picked up on the previous to

  776. being a path for me until you said it Because

  777. sometimes I get stuck in my own head and just

  778. feel like people's gonna think Another name change

  779. so he has no clue what he's doing um was a moment

  780. on your journey and i think each one is very

  781. special and unique to see it evolve into what

  782. it is now stepping stones i like that so we'll

  783. continue exploring things folks continue restoring

  784. identity rebuilding families and advancing the

  785. kingdom do whatever means necessary right now

  786. that's youtube and podcast and doing our thing

  787. up on the mountain and I guess you got any closing

  788. thoughts you want to add anything you want to

  789. say I'd be down for that people want to put hey

  790. can you touch on this yeah so if you've listened

  791. you know Leave a review. Let us hear from you.

  792. What do you want to hear about? What do you want

  793. to know about? What would you like to hear teaching

  794. on? Other or just our thoughts about whatever

  795. Other than that, I think the best thing I can

  796. end with is welcome to the kingdom family podcast

  797. That's where we're at now That's how we will

  798. move forward So pull up a chair Put us on, we're

  799. glad you're here. Pull up a chair, ride down

  800. the road, whatever. You're not just listening,

  801. you're part of the family. Other than that, be

  802. blessed. Thanks for spending some time with me

  803. today on the Kingdom Family Podcast. If this

  804. episode spoke to you... Take a moment to share

  805. it and help someone else rediscover their identity

  806. as a son or daughter of Yahweh. And don't forget,

  807. follow the podcast so you can stay connected

  808. with everything happening through Kingdom Family

  809. Ministries. Until next time, live love, live
