His House is Worth the Best

[SPEAKER_01]: Haggai chapter one, Haggai chapter one, we're gonna start in verse three, read down through first nine, Haggai one, verse three, says the word of the Lord came through Haggai in the prophet.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a time for you, yourself, so live in your paneled houses while this house lies in ruins?

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the Lord of hosts says this thing carefully about your ways.

[SPEAKER_01]: You have planted much, but have harvested little, you eat, but you never have enough to be satisfied, you drink, but never have enough to become drunk, you put on clothes, but never have enough to get warm the wage earner puts his wages into a bag with a hole in it, not us, Lord.

[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord of hosts says this thing carefully about your ways.

[SPEAKER_01]: go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Then I will be pleased with it, and be glorified, says the Lord.

[SPEAKER_01]: You expect it much, but then in amounts a little when you were, when, excuse me, when you brought the harvest to your house, I ruined it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why?

[SPEAKER_01]: This is the declaration of the Lord of hosts, because my house still lies in ruins.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, each of you is busy, busy, busy bees with his own house.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right, if you're taking notes this morning, we're going to wrap up this series today.

[SPEAKER_01]: I told you last week that we would.

[SPEAKER_01]: Some of you are like, thank you, Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Others are like, whatever, you've been fine.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: The title of today's message is,

[SPEAKER_01]: Come on now, having you believe that with me, his house is worth the best.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth the best.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, Father, we just thank you, Lord, for your word.

[SPEAKER_01]: We thank you, God, for what you have already done here.

[SPEAKER_01]: This morning, we're so grateful.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're grateful for your presence here today.

[SPEAKER_01]: Continue to speak to us as we receive your word.

[SPEAKER_01]: As we learn and as we grow from it, and as we are transformed by it Father, we just thank you for it today in Jesus name and by said, Amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to recap everything that I've talked about the last couple weeks, but I'm going to go ahead and skip all of that today.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you were here, you got all of it.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you missed it, you can go back and watch or you can go back and listen on the podcast, okay?

[SPEAKER_01]: If you missed a video of the sermons.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like to preach in sermons series because I like them to be able to build upon themselves.

[SPEAKER_01]: So if you miss a week, you miss a building block, so to speak.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's always good to go back and listen to it when you can, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: So remember that one of the most important things that we can do as believers is get serious about God's house, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And we've been talking about that, that we need to be serious about God's house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because when we're serious about God's house, he's serious about our house.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he's concerned in a good way, deeply concerned, and he cares about your home, your household, your finances, your relationships, all those things.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he wants to be invested in all that and concerned with all of it.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but he's looking for us to do the same with his house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it's so important.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, building his house, remember it's something that has eternal reward, eternal value, it's something that's beyond us, that we can't maybe see the necessary benefit or the fruit from it initially, but we know that God takes whatever we do to help build his house, that he takes it to build his house, but it builds his kingdom altogether.

[SPEAKER_01]: right and which is so important so so this morning I I want to jump to Ephesians Ephesians chapter 5 we're going to look at verse 25 only I'll be on the screen Ephesians 5 25 and say well what does this have to do with giving all I'll help you understand says husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we know that the verse is leading up to this is talking about marriages and talking about husbands loving their wives and honoring their wives and all that kind of thing of vice versa, wives doing the same thing for their husband, toward their husband and all that kind of stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: But he begins in the scripture to start shift gears here, talking about marriage to all of a sudden started talking about the church.

[SPEAKER_01]: And he says, Husbands, just as you love your wife, come on, any of the husbands in here, come on, let me hear you, if you love your wife.

[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man, that was, we got one guy that loves his wife.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus, help us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Young, I didn't hear you, John, I didn't hear you, Robert, I didn't hear you, David, I didn't hear you, come on now guys, other David, I didn't hear you, and third David, I didn't hear you, all the David's, okay, all the husbands, if you love your wives, let me hear you.

[SPEAKER_01]: Woo!

[UNKNOWN]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Some of you wives need to do one of these numbers real quick to them, yeah, there we go.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: So he says, hey, just as you love your wife, and we can just say, just as you love your husband, why's Christ love the church, and he gave himself for her.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I believe, and I know you believe as well, that Jesus loves his church, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: He loves his church.

[SPEAKER_01]: And when we talk about this kind of love that he has for his church, it's not an emotional love, but it's a deep love.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's a love that's full of compassion, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus doesn't throw love around like we do these days, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: We throw love around

[SPEAKER_01]: a whole lot, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: In one conversation, we can say we love and in and out double cheeseburger with animal fries, come on somebody.

[SPEAKER_01]: Woo, felt the whole ago saw that one.

[SPEAKER_01]: And in the same conversation or in the same sentence, we could say that we love our wife or our husband, you know?

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like we just throw the word love out there for just about anything, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, you know, the love that you have for those delicious juicy cheese burgers, come on now is it's completely different from the love that you have for your spouse, for your husband or for your wife, but Jesus' love is not tossed around lightly.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not tossed around lightly.

[SPEAKER_01]: We toss around love a lot.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we toss around the word love for a lot of different things.

[SPEAKER_01]: But Jesus doesn't just use that word in a light sense, OK?

[SPEAKER_01]: The love that He has for us, the love that He has for His church, is a perfect unconditional love.

[SPEAKER_01]: And aren't you grateful today that Jesus loves His church despite the problems we have at times?

[SPEAKER_01]: Lord, now the truth is, the truth is that there is no perfect church, if you were looking for a perfect church, you ain't going to find one.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I hate to say this and it's not offensive, it's just true, but if you were looking for a perfect church and you walked in the door, the church is no longer perfect.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're all imperfect people with imperfections and it's the power of the gospel and the power of God's love and what he can do through the church that helps us to become better and to be perfected into looking more like him and all of those kind of things.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so there is no perfect church, but praise God there is a perfect God in heaven.

[SPEAKER_01]: come on now, that loves the imperfections of his children, that he loves us, despite our past, he loves us, despite the things that we have done and the things that we have said, and he loves us so much that he chooses to use his church, he uses each and every one of us for his kingdom.

[SPEAKER_01]: Even in our imperfections, he says, I know you're imperfect, but I'm still going

[SPEAKER_01]: And to us, we're like, wait a second, I'm in perfect.

[SPEAKER_01]: I can't be used.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus says, no, that's not how this thing works.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because you are in perfect, I get to use you.

[UNKNOWN]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, that's so good, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And so, we don't have to be perfect.

[SPEAKER_01]: Our whole lives don't have to make sense to bring glory to God.

[SPEAKER_01]: Then we can bring glory to God, even though we have problems, and even though we are a little bit messed up at times.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, because why?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because the church is where broken people go.

[SPEAKER_01]: that the church is where hurting people go.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a club for God's perfect ones.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right, this is not God's perfect ones, club.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is not it, but what it is is a hospital for the lost.

[SPEAKER_01]: Amen, it's a hospital for the broken, a hospital for the sick.

[SPEAKER_01]: Amen, that's what the church is.

[SPEAKER_01]: The church is where the addicted, the torn up, the messed up kind of people can find hope, can find peace and can find the love of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hallelujah.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I look across this room every single week and I know how true that is.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because for some of you I saw you whenever you didn't know Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: Or for some of you, I saw you when you first started coming and just the radical change in what God has done in your life is supernatural.

[SPEAKER_01]: Only God could have done it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not us, it's not, oh, you know, it was the people of the church that helped me.

[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they helped you, but it was God.

[SPEAKER_01]: He used his church, but it's God.

[SPEAKER_01]: So let us not forget where we once were when we walked in the doors of God's house, amen?

[SPEAKER_01]: Romans 5, 8 says this, I love the Scripture you've all heard of before, and says that God loved us while we were still sinners.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And even in the midst of us being so lost and so out there, so caught up in sin that he still had a love, a radical love, a compassionate love for us.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it was through that love that it rescued us out of that darkness and out of that sin and into the light, amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so if you're taking notes this morning, just a few things that I want to give you today that I believe as we wrap this thing up, we'll definitely help us.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about how his house is really worth the best.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so the first thing that I want to give you today if you're taking notes is that his house was worth his blood.

[SPEAKER_01]: His house was worth his blood.

[SPEAKER_01]: We did commune in today, we talked about it a little bit, but God's house is worth God's blood.

[SPEAKER_01]: And here's the simple thing, church.

[SPEAKER_01]: To Jesus, his church has always been worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was worth everything to him, including laying down his life, losing his life for the sake of the church.

[SPEAKER_01]: So that the kingdom of God can continue to prevail and move upon the earth, amen?

[SPEAKER_01]: My question for us today, if we know that that is true, my question for us today is this.

[SPEAKER_01]: If his church is worth it to him, is his church worth it to you?

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it worth it to you?

[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you spend time bashing his church, criticizing his church, speaking negative about his church?

[SPEAKER_01]: Or is his church, is God's church worth it to you?

[SPEAKER_01]: Now praise God that he loves his church so much that the church was worth the sacrificial blood of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the Bible says that we are the bride of Christ.

[SPEAKER_01]: We are the bride of Christ.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the scripture says that husbands, as you love your wise, Jesus loves the church and He says it loves her, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because we are the bride of Christ.

[SPEAKER_01]: And this is why we must never get to the place where we say, I love Jesus, but I don't love His bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's like coming up to, you know, Melissa and I and Sam, to Melissa.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, I wanna do it to me.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's like saying to me, I really like you pastor Austin, but I don't like your wife.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that doesn't make sense because the two or one were a package deal, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: So you can't just say that, you know, it would never work.

[SPEAKER_01]: You can't say a pastor also, I really like you, but I can't stand your wife.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, what are you all doing next week?

[SPEAKER_01]: You want to hang out?

[SPEAKER_01]: I'll hang out with you, but not her.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's not how these things work, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's a package deal, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but that's what happens when it comes to people sometimes is we say, I love you, Jesus, but I don't like your bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I don't want to be too involved with your bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the way your bride handles things or whatever it may be, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And so we can never get to that place.

[SPEAKER_01]: And what's the point in me saying that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Hear me this morning, if you love the bride and believe in the bride,

[SPEAKER_01]: If you really love the bride and you believe in the bride, you will build up the bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: You'll help to build his house.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we know that one of the ways that you help build his house that we've been talking about for now four weeks is through our generosity, is through our giving.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and because that's so important in the greatest way that you can build his church.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let me tell you, it's not to just give his church the scraps or the leftovers of your life.

[SPEAKER_01]: But to give him the very best that you have to offer, to give him the first and give him the best.

[SPEAKER_01]: And certainly the pride of Christ and the pride that is the church's worth way more than the leftovers that we tend to offer.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love you, God, I love your church, but when it comes to giving, I'm just going to give you the leftovers, I'm just going to give you the scraps, I'm just going to give you a little bit that I have left over and he says, wait a second, I thought you loved my bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you loved my church.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you love me and you love my bride and you love my church, you will help build my church.

[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that because his house is worth it?

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to step or get to the place in our lives where we offer up the leftovers and be satisfied with that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want us to be able to come to the place where because our love for the bride is so strong that we give accordingly and we say, God, whatever it is to build your house, I'm gonna do it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be a part of it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to participate in that because I know that your house is worth the best, amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: So number one is his house is worth his blood and number two is this.

[SPEAKER_01]: His house is preparing for what's to come.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we know that that's part of our assignment upon the earth.

[SPEAKER_01]: And what we are doing right now, and where we are positioned as a body of believers and as a church for his kingdom, is that we are preparing for what's to come.

[SPEAKER_01]: We are preparing the way of the Lord, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: God is not the one that's doing all the preparation work.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's depending on his church to prepare the way.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking up for his church to say, we will do whatever you need us to do

[SPEAKER_01]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_01]: And now I want to go to a scripture in Revelation, okay?

[SPEAKER_01]: Revelation.

[SPEAKER_01]: Whoo.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh God, she's going to talk about the end times and gloom and doom and all that.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, hey, don't worry.

[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get up tight.

[SPEAKER_01]: Revelation chapter 19, let's look at verses 6 through 8, says, then I heard something, like the voice of a vast multitude.

Revelation 19 · chapter mention

[SPEAKER_01]: like the sound of cascading waters, and like the rumbling of loud thunder, saying, hallelujah, because our Lord God, the almighty has begun to reign.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let us be glad, rejoice, and give him glory, because the marriage of the lamb has come.

[SPEAKER_01]: In his wife, his bride has prepared herself

[SPEAKER_01]: She was given.

[SPEAKER_01]: So the only way that she was able to prepare is because she was given first.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to catch this.

[SPEAKER_01]: She was given fine linen to wear, dry impure, for the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints.

[SPEAKER_01]: If we are preparing the way of the Lord and I just want to leave this Scripture up here for a minute because I want us to fully understand this.

[SPEAKER_01]: If we are preparing the way for the Lord, part of our responsibility and part of our duty is to make sure that we are doing the righteous things that God has called us to do.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And when we do those righteous things, the Bible now teaches us that it's through the righteous acts that we are able to provide his wife, his bride, with what she needs to be presented.

[SPEAKER_01]: In other words, the church will never be prepared.

[SPEAKER_01]: The bride will never be ready if we don't first give to the bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do, and we've been breaking all that down the past couple weeks.

[SPEAKER_01]: And people say, I just need Jesus to come back.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm not, you know, Jesus can come whenever he's ready.

[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, we still have work to do.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I want to know that through the work that we're doing, the righteous acts that we are preparing for his bride, that we are preparing for her, and that we have given her fine linen, which means that we can't give God our leftovers, that we gotta give God our very best.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fine linen that we get to prepare and we get to give unto the church, amen?

[SPEAKER_01]: And you got to catch what this scripture is teaching us, because the bride was dressed in eternity as a direct result of the righteous acts of the church upon the earth, which is huge.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's like a wow, wow, God.

[SPEAKER_01]: So what does that mean?

[SPEAKER_01]: Every time you prayed for someone at the altar, every time you stepped into the kid's classroom and taught,

[SPEAKER_01]: Every time you greet it with a big smile on your face as people walked in the door.

[SPEAKER_01]: Every time you gave of your tie then your offerings, you were preparing the bride to be dressed in fine linens.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's beyond your serving, it's beyond your duty, but it also has to do with your giving and to his house.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's bigger than the building.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's bigger than the events that we do.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's bigger than having fun at summer nights and me beating you on the pickleball court.

[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, okay, never mind.

[SPEAKER_01]: But you are helping to prepare for the wedding feast in heaven.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hallelujah!

[SPEAKER_01]: And so we can do all these things as a church, but if we're not preparing the bride, we're failing as a church.

[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the ways, one of the key ways that we help prepare the bride for her groom, for the wedding feast of the lamb, is to make sure that we are giving and providing his bride with everything that she needs.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hallelujah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hallelujah.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so here's the question, really, of all questions today.

[SPEAKER_01]: As we wrap up this series on generosity and giving

[SPEAKER_01]: My question is for you today.

[SPEAKER_01]: How will the bride look based upon your giving?

[SPEAKER_01]: How will the bride look based upon your giving?

[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not how much you give.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's your relevant.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not trying to give more money than the person next to you, and it's not trying to brag and all that kind of stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: Everything you give, everything you give, is building his house.

[SPEAKER_01]: The time that you put forth to serve here.

[SPEAKER_01]: the time that you put forth to be in the kid's classroom or to be in the back in the media booth or to serve as security or to be a greed or to whatever it may be all of those things that you do are helping to prepare the bride.

[SPEAKER_01]: Just as much though as you're giving

[SPEAKER_01]: a good and faithful person to your own house and to your own life.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well done, good and faithful to your own home.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well done, good and faithful only to your own finances.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to hear that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear well done, good and faithful servant.

[SPEAKER_01]: Good and faithful servant of my kingdom.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well done, good and faithful servant of my house.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hallelujah, that's what I wanna hear.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why is his house and why is his bride described as a wife in Revelation 19?

[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it a her because it's the place where you get born again?

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if everybody got that yet.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's his bride, it's his wife, it's her, because it's a place where you can get born again.

[SPEAKER_01]: Born again, where you can start life over again, where you can be born in the natural and live your life and be born into a world of sin, but you can come into the house of the Lord, and you can be reborn again.

[SPEAKER_01]: and you can start over in life all over again.

[SPEAKER_01]: And let me tell you, if God has given you the opportunity and He has opened up the doors of His church and His house for you to be reborn and come into new life to me, anything that He asks me to do, it's totally worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have to open up the doors of the church for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have to give me new life.

[SPEAKER_01]: But he did, and he used his church.

[SPEAKER_01]: He uses his church as a place as like a birthing center for the new things in our lives.

[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, that makes me want to give everything I can give.

[SPEAKER_01]: Not just of my time, not just of my gifts, but of my resources as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever God is calling me to do, I wanna give unto that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I wanna be generous to the house of the Lord because it was in His house that I was made alive again.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it was in His house where things were broken off of my life and chains of bondage fell off.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was in His house that He began to do at work in me.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was in His house where I met the Holy Spirit.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was in his house where he set me free.

[SPEAKER_01]: And if he says, church, all I'm looking for is just for your heart of generosity in return.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because I opened up the door for you and I allowed all these things to be made available for you.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I just asked for a small thing in return to me.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth it to me.

[SPEAKER_01]: If that means that I need to give to the school supply drive to bless people, I'm going to do it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Because the Lord's going to use the church to bless them just like the Lord used the church to bless me and to bless you.

[SPEAKER_01]: And if that means I got to give to that and I got to serve my time and I want to come up here and help with the event and be a part of the activities that we're doing out here

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: If the pastor says we're having a prayer night, two nights in a row followed by a third night up at the church of a night of worship, it's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, I am not too busy for God.

[SPEAKER_01]: I need my sleep just like you do.

[SPEAKER_01]: I need, I like my time at home just like you do.

[SPEAKER_01]: I wanna be around the table just like you do with your family.

[SPEAKER_01]: But it's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: it's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth being up here.

[SPEAKER_01]: Three nights in a row.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth fasting for 10 days.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I can do that past them, just so nervous about fasting.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth it!

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's like, what do you want me to say?

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth it!

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth showing up early and serving the kingdom of God, and serving His house, and being here, and being on time, and doing all of the things, it's worth sitting in a class learning about prayer.

[SPEAKER_01]: You saw the fruit.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was a testimony today.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: All of the things that our opportunities that are laid before us, the windows of opportunity, doors that fling might open.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's God, and it's all His goodness, and all His glory, allowing us to be partakers of what He is doing in His house.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so therefore it's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: And when it comes to giving, it's worth it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you, but I want to take care of the house of the Lord.

[SPEAKER_01]: If I wasn't even the pastor and I was just an attendee, I'd have the same heart.

[SPEAKER_01]: want to be a part of what God is doing.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take care of the place where I know lives are being changed.

[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take care of the place where I know that people can come down to the altar and just be radically touched by the power God.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to take care of that place.
