“He is Lord” - Luke 6 - April 27th, 2025 - Pastor Scotty Brown

All righty. If you have a Bible, we're going to be in the sixth chapter of Luke. We've been going through this book.

And I titled the message today, He is Lord. And that's kind of a no-brainer. But it's the truth, right?

And so we've been watching Jesus do some pretty intense things. He's calling his disciples. He's doing miracles. He's no doubt getting people's attention.

And today, if Jesus doesn't have your attention, I pray that maybe by the end of the time we have here this morning that he would get it.

Because it is a good thing to know where your help comes from.

Amen?

And so years ago, I remember being so impressed as I read through the book of Daniel.

there in chapter five, I believe it is, when the handwriting is on the wall, right?

Isn't amazing how we steal all the little phrases from the Bible, you know, between a rock

on a hard spot by the skin of your teeth?

The handwriting's on the wall.

This is all biblical stuff, right?

And the hand writes on the wall.

Many, many, tackle you parson or farcing, however you say those words.

you've been weighed in the balance and you found wanting and Daniel told the king, he said, listen,

the God who holds your breath in his hand, like this, you have denied him.

You have refused to humble yourself before him.

And so it is a good thing to humble yourself before the Lord.

And the Bible instructs us that if we'll humble ourselves before the Lord, that he will lift us up.

And he'll do something in your life that will, it'll wow you, right?

It'll make your head spin.

And it's a glorious thing.

He's done it in my life over and over and over again.

And so we're going to look at the first five verses for sure in chapter six.

And if time permits, we'll continue on a little bit.

But let's read.

We're going to read the first five verses of,

Luke chapter 6. And it says, now it happened on the second Sabbath after the first that he went

through the grain fields and his disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate them, rubbing them in

their hands. And some of the Pharisees said to them, why are you doing what is not lawful to do on

the Sabbath? But Jesus answering them said, have you not even read this? That David,

what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him, how he went into the house of

God, took and ate the showbread, and also gave some to those with him, which is not lawful

for any but the priest to eat. And he said to them, the son of man is also Lord of the Sabbath.

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for your lordship.

that you are worthy.

You are worthy to be our Lord.

And because of what you did when you came as we examined last week,

coming and conquering death and going to the cross as a sacrificial offering

to appease the wrath of God.

And you did that for us.

And then you didn't stay there, but you rose again from the dead.

Conquering death, becoming death's cure for us who would put our faith and trust in you.

So Lord, I just pray for any of those here within the sound of my voice that have yet to receive Christ as Lord and Savior.

That today would maybe be their day.

That they would say yes to you.

That they would believe in you, as your word tells us.

That if we believe and confess the name of Jesus and believe that God has raised him from the dead,

that we are saved people, having our citizenship in heaven, Lord.

So bless this time, we pray in Jesus' mighty name.

Amen.

So he's going along here, and we know that he's done some incredible things.

And so here he comes to the Sabbath. Sabbath. It means rest.

And it says the second Sabbath here in verse one.

Now, we don't want this totally mean.

Some believe that it was actually the second Sabbath after Passover or First Sabbath

after Passover, but there was a Sabbath mentioned back in Luke chapter 4 in verse 31 and that he

was teaching them on the Sabbath day and he was in this synagogue. That's where Jesus would

actually go to church. Going to church is a good thing. You know, I've never regretted going to church.

There's been times when I've regretted not going to church, but I've never regretted. I've

always got something out of it gleaned if the pastor had enough wherewith

and wisdom to read a verse of scripture that would do my life good for that day.

But Jesus was on a Sabbath day, he was teaching.

And you guys remember back there in chapter 4,

and this demon possessed dude shows up.

And Jesus deals with the demon and tells him to come out of him and to be quiet.

Why did he tell him to be quiet?

Some of you may remember, right?

he was telling the demon to be quiet because the demon recognized who Jesus was.

But what was sad is the religious people there did not recognize who Jesus was.

They didn't recognize him as the king of kings and the prince of life, as Peter calls him there in the book of Acts.

They didn't recognize that.

But this demon knew who he was and this demon had to obey him.

You realize all the heavenly hosts, good or evil.

have to submit to the king of kings, the Lord Jesus.

And so this is a Sabbath day, and he's hanging out with his disciples.

And, you know, I could just see the conversation of the Pharisees when Jesus casts out this demon.

What's he doing?

Is that legal?

Is that legal for him to do that?

cast out this evil spirit.

And I could hear Nicodemus saying, I think he just did, right?

Does it matter if it's legal or not?

Jesus just did.

He just cast out the demon.

And so that perked them up because Jesus did this on a Sabbath day.

And though I don't think there was a law against at this point, against casting out demons on the Sabbath.

But it would soon become apparent that that's what they were looking for.

They were looking for some wrongdoing from Jesus because he was becoming so popular, so fast, more so than themselves.

And so no doubt the scribes and Pharisees are going, all right, let's watch and see if this young rabbi actually, literally keeps the Sabbath.

And so here we find this story here in Luke chapter 6.

Luke 6 · chapter mention

It says that first Sabbath that he went through the grain fields.

And his disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate them rubbing them in their hands.

You've done that, right?

We're Idaho boys here.

You know, we're an ag society and, you know, I'll grab the wheat and get a little chewy wheat going on.

And that was always fun as a kid growing up.

My granddad and my dad had a custom thrashing business.

And so we were always doing that with heads of grain in our hand.

And so they go, aha, we got him.

We got him.

Busted.

Right? Lawbreaker.

Would any of you here be busted for being a lawbreaker?

Some people chuckle.

Other people think, well, no, I haven't.

I'm a good person. I'm an upstanding citizen.

Really? You ever told the lie?

You ever taken something that wasn't yours, a pin from the bank?

Right?

You don't have to go very far down the list, you guys, and we're all busted, right?

We're all busted. We're all lawbreakers.

And no doubt they were, they were, they were,

they were laying for him and and so they thought they had a um some dirt on on the guy no doubt they

were irritated because all the things that he had done right just in these last two chapters he he healed

peter's mother-in-law right they they actually honored the sabbath there the one time and they waited till the sun went down

because the Sabbath was from sundown to sundown.

That was the Sabbath from sundown to sundown.

Friday night sundown to Saturday night sundown.

And Saturday night sundown, all these people,

as soon as that sun peaked behind the skyline and was gone,

here they came and droves people being healed of all kinds of diseases

and ailments and being delivered from demonic possession.

And then there was the great catch.

You remember when he told Peter,

hey, let's go fish it.

I think I'd like to go fishing with Jesus.

Kind of reminds me that old boy that was catching a lot of fish

and a game warden was wondering what was going on with him.

And so the old boy was getting in his boat one day,

and the game ward showed up.

Today you're going fishing?

He goes, yeah, you want to come?

Come on.

jump on in. The guy was getting way too many fish. And so the game warden jumps in and they go out

and man pulls out a stick of dynamite, lights a fuse and chucks it in the water. Right. And all the

fish come floating up to the top and he goes around picking up fish and this this game warden cannot

believe his eyes. He goes, what are you doing? You know, this is against a law. I'm going to have to write you.

In fact, I think I might have to call the cops and put you in jail. And the guy just didn't say a word to him.

he just pulled out another stick of dynamite,

lit the fuse and handed it to the guy,

said, you're going to talk or you're going to fish?

Fishing with Jesus would be pretty cool, you know?

Because he just commands them all,

go jump in the boat, would you?

You know, and they're jumping in the boat.

And, you know, and then he cleanses the lepers,

which no doubt, he cleanses the leper and probably,

freaks out the priest because they had to go through quite a process to proclaim this guy clean,

but his skin was like that of a baby.

And then he forgives and heals their paralytic, and they're all wadded up about that because

he says, your sins be forgiven you.

Right.

Then he calls Levi, who we know is Matthew, a tax collector.

And he shares the whole parable about new wines and old wine skins and that whole thing.

and that he came to not call the righteous,

but sinners to repentance.

I mean, Jesus is stirring things up.

Jesus stirs me up.

I hope he stirs you up.

Because he's coming soon.

And Jesus, he gives us a little hints

of what should be happening in our heart.

He tells us that in the last days,

the love of many is going to grow cold.

I was just talking to a brother about it a little bit ago,

that when we see these things happening in the world and you're just going,

this is just messed up.

Our world's messed up.

And our love starts to grow cold.

And we start having murder in our hearts towards people.

That's not of God.

That's wicked.

I know because that kind of hearts in me.

And I struggle with that.

And riding on a herd of that and keeping it in check and seeking the Lord

that we stir up the love of God in our hearts.

And so these guys would tell you that they loved God,

but they denied him by what they were doing.

And so in verse 2, it says,

and some of the Pharisees said to them,

why are you doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?

well they ask why but they didn't have anything to back it up the one thing about when you call somebody

on something you need to have scripture to back it up and they didn't they didn't have scripture to back

it up because actually what they were doing was lawful right Deuteronomy 23 25 says and when you come into your

neighbor's standing grain you may pluck the heads with your hand but you shall not use a

sickle on your neighbor's standing grain. In other words, you could glean. It was perfectly lawful to

walk by somebody's apple tree and take an apple off. You just couldn't take a bushel basket with you

and fill it up. Right? Or you couldn't take a sickle and start shocking wheat. You couldn't do that.

But just to glean and have something for your appetite at the moment was perfectly legal.

So really, their argument had no basis whatsoever.

And so Jesus responds to their objection by taking them to the scripture.

Caching.

Guys, listen, this is why it's so important to read your Bibles.

And know what you believe.

You know, when I was a boy, I remember, and I was a hellion.

But I remember my grandma and grandpa watching Billy Graham,

and because they did occasionally I would, even on my own,

after I kind of grew up a little bit and was doing my own thing.

I would listen to Billy Graham.

And if I had a nickel, if I had a nickel for every time Billy Graham says,

and the Bible sales, if I had a nickel every time I heard him say that,

I could probably put a couple kids through college.

Right?

Because why?

Because he always was quoting scripture.

Right?

And he had a father-in-law that they called a walking Bible.

His name was Nelson Bell.

He was a missionary doctor to China.

They said Nelson had read through the Bible over 200 times.

And so he was, no doubt, inspired by his father-in-law.

But Billy wrote the Word of God upon his heart.

So he takes them to the scripture, and he takes them to 1 Samuel, chapter 21.

And he says, but Jesus answering them said in verse 3,

have you not even read this what David did when he was hungry?

He and those who were with him?

how he went into the house of God took and ate the showbread and also gave to some of those who were with him,

which is not lawful for any but the priest to eat.

That's what the showbread was for.

Just reading through the book of Exodus and Leviticus learning about the law and how they would put the showbread there every Sabbath.

It was a new group of 12 loaves representing the 12 tribes of Israel.

Well, David had a need.

David, David was hungry.

Kind of like the disciples here rubbing the grain.

David was hungry, and he comes to a Himalek there, and he says, hey, we're hungry.

He says, the only thing you hear is show bread.

He says, I'll take it.

But it wasn't lawful for him to do that.

But he did it.

And Jesus said that he was justified in doing it.

Why?

Because human need.

human need is greater than religious ritual.

Human need.

And we see that in scripture, right?

I like what Warren Wersby says here.

He says, but David and his men ate the loaves and what Jew would condemn Israel's great king.

So Jesus strategically uses David as an example.

because he was God's anointed.

David was God's anointed.

And that's exactly who Jesus was.

He was God's anointed.

And he wasn't breaking the law.

Because Isaiah 61 tells us,

Jesus reading it here in the New Testament says,

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me.

God had anointed Jesus, just like he had anointed David.

And the need that David had was more important than the letter of the law.

Not only was Jesus God's anointed, but he was also, listen, the Lord of the Sabbath.

Right? He was the Lord of the Sabbath. When Jesus made that statement, he was claiming to be Jehovah God,

because it was the Lord who established the Sabbath. If Jesus Christ is indeed Lord of the Sabbath,

then he is free to do on it and with it, whatever he pleases.

The Pharisees did not miss this meaning, and you could be sure of that,

and that's why they got so fired up.

But to establish the fact that human need is above the law,

you go to the temple, right?

You go to the temple, and you see the holy of holies.

And what's in the Holy of Holies?

Bible trivia.

What's in the Holy of Holies?

The Ark of the Covenant, correct?

The Ark of the Covenant is sitting there.

The Ark of the Covenant has this lid, and the lid on the Ark of the Covenant is called something interesting, the mercy seat, right?

And these cherubim, these angels, they spread their wings from wall to wall, right, in the Holy of Holies.

And they're looking down at what?

The mercy seat.

The mercy seat.

That means under the mercy seat was God's law.

God's mercy, listen, is always above the law.

God's mercy is above the law.

And Peter tells us what things angels desire to look into.

Right?

So these angels, these cherubim that are on top of the arc of the covenant are looking down at the mercy seat,

they're behooved by the mercy of God.

because they you know what the angels know you and me

another name for the angels is called watchers

you know you're being watched don't you

oh no yeah you're being watched

we live in a world that is

is surveilled like no other time

in my lifetime right

and I don't even know what my newer truck

what kind of devices it might have me clocked it going

Lord knows how fast

Exactly. But if technology doesn't know, the angels in heaven know, they're watchers.

They watch and they desire to look into this whole mercy thing that God has mercy on us,

as humanoids that we don't deserve it, right?

God knows that our greatest need is mercy.

Your greatest need, my greatest need is mercy.

It's God's mercy.

Why? Because we're sinful.

All of us.

Even that cutest little curl that was up here we just dedicated,

little Haven Taylor.

Right?

We've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

And we're born with a nature that is bent towards sin.

and so we need God's mercy,

lest we be consumed by his just, his just wrath.

And it's,

it's what Jesus calls his disciples to do.

In Matthew's account of this particular passage in chapter 12, verse 5, it says,

or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath, the priests in the temple,

profane the Sabbath and are blameless. Jesus is saying, listen, we've all sinned and fallen short of the

glory of God. Yes, did David sin against the law and eating the show bread? Well, yes, but God showed mercy.

The priests who would have to work every single day, including the Sabbath day, and offer sacrifice,

the Bible says that they were blameless. God didn't hold them guilty. They had mercy.

And they were doing the work of the Lord.

That's why I can stand up here as your pastor and say that I am the chief of sinners.

I had a lawyer asked a lawyer.

Did I'm saying that right?

A lawyer.

A lawyer asked me the other day.

So it's okay to lie?

I said no.

Yeah, but he said, you just said you're a liar.

Well, the Bible says all men are liars.

Right?

Let God be true.

and every man a liar. I'm one of those every man. So when the shoe fits, you got to wear it.

He looked at me like, I had two heads. He just didn't know what to. You actually confess that to be true?

Yes, I confess that to be true. Isn't that how you get clean? Confess your sin. And he's faithful

and just to forgive you over sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. And so I confess my sin before the Lord.

And he cleans me up. It's not that I want to do those things. And a lot of times, praise the Lord, with the help of His Holy

Spirit, I don't do those things, but there are times.

So the priests are blameless, and God desires mercy and not sacrifice.

So the point that Jesus is making here is twofold. First, it's obviously, right, it's obvious

is that human need is more important than religious rules. And people say, oh, really?

What if I say I need a drink?

You don't need a drink, right?

What if I say I need, I need someone other than my wife?

Because that's not a need.

That's a want.

All you need is water and bread and air.

That's it.

That's what you need.

And those other things, shelter and clothing, Jesus said,

I shelter and I close the birds of the earth.

air.

We need

God's mercy.

And so

Jesus tells his disciples there in Matthew

Matthew 9 · chapter mention

chapter 9, go and learn what this means.

I desire mercy

and not sacrifice.

That's how the Old Testament

saints would get right, is they would

sacrifice that lamb or that bird or that cow

as an atonement for their sin,

as a covering. It would

wouldn't take away, it would cover their sin.

And God desired to be merciful, so he gave them a system that they could do and feel

halfway decent about themselves.

But now we have Jesus, for he says, I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

God calls us.

When he calls us, we turn from a lifestyle of sin, right?

Though I still tell a lie, it's the exception.

It's not the rule.

before I came to Christ, no, lying was everything.

I'd rather tell a lie than tell the truth.

But now that I'm walking with Jesus,

I'm convicted by if I tell a lie.

And I know it's not right, and I have to say, oh, Lord, forgive me.

Secondly, right?

Secondly, he is Lord of the Sabbath.

So first,

it's obvious that human need is more important than religious rules.

And secondly, Jesus established, I am also Lord of the Sabbath.

Now, this is interesting because he uses describing himself, he calls himself the son of man.

That's a title that Jesus uses.

He actually uses two here, but the third most used title of Jesus in the New Testament is the Son of Man.

It's really pointing to his humanity, that he was tempted in all points like you and I, that he was a man.

He had this, his flesh was like ours and tempted like ours, but he never caved in.

He didn't sin in word, in deed, or in thought.

Jesus didn't.

Some think he came close when he got angry.

but he's this this lord so the son of man it refers first to himself i think i don't know how many times

i think it's over 90 times in the new testament like 89 of those times it's jesus describing him

himself well jesus his name was jesus right his title he had three different titles the the third

most used of his title is the son of man the son of man the son

second most use of him, his title is Lord.

Jesus is his name. Son of man is a title. Lord is a title. The word Lord is

Kirios, which is equivalent to the Old Testament Adonai. And so

when he says he's Lord, he's equating himself with God.

He's Lord also of the Sabbath.

This is a declaration of Christ's deity when he calls himself Lord.

So an example of this would be in Psalm chapter 8, 9 that says,

O Lord, caps, all caps, check this out.

Oh, Lord, all caps, our Lord, just the L is capitalized.

How majestic is your name in all the earth?

So what the Hebrew is saying in this verse here in Psalm chapter 8, verse 9,

Psalms 8:9

and it says, oh, Yahweh, that is his name, our Adonai, that is his supreme title.

It's the same title as Yahweh, God the Father.

Oh, Lord, all caps, our Lord, how majestic is your name and all the earth?

That's why when they tell the Philippian jailer how to get saved,

they say believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

there's power in that name right a lot of power in that name and so

the third most used title of Jesus is son of man the second most used title is

is Lord the first most used title of Christ is Christ or Old Testament equivalent

Messiah Jesus Christ right

Jesus is his name. Christ is his title, not his last name, right? Jesus is his name. It's the equivalent of Joshua or Yahshua is how the Jews say it. And it means Jehovah is salvation. That's his name. His title is Christ or Messiah. And that's the most used. Every time you see Jesus Christ, it's pointing to him being the anointed one.

So Messiah, or an anointed would be Jesus as the Savior and his title Christ.

In his deity, his title is Lord Adonai.

And in his humanity, his title is the son of man.

And then he says, the son of man is also Lord of the Sabbath.

Proving the fact that he is the God man.

The God man.

He's Lord. He's Adonai of the Sabbath.

And you think about that.

And that's what Romans would require the early Christians to do.

You have to say that Caesar is Lord or our Adonai.

And they wouldn't do it.

They wouldn't say those three words.

And it cost them their life.

How about you?

Do you imagine somebody coming up with a 357 that put into your,

forehead say Caesar's Lord. Not gonna do it. Right? They wouldn't do it. They got fed to lions and tigers and

beasts. They got burned at the stake. They got crucified up. They would not say Caesar is Lord. Why? Because he

wasn't their Lord. Jesus was. Is he yours? It's a powerful thing. It's a powerful.

thought to think that these people, it tells us in Hebrews they choose, they choose a better

resurrection because they were willing to give their life for the one who died for them.

And he's called the son of man, obviously, because he's the greatest human that has ever lived.

He's the greatest human that has ever lived.

So I got to go back in that verse.

It says, and the son of man is also, also, that word also, Lord of the Sabbath.

So what else is he the Lord of?

Well, he would be the Lord of hosts.

We see that over 200 times in the Bible, the Lord of hosts.

It means Lord of armies.

Or it's also called Lord of Soboeth.

It means Lord of armies.

So Jesus is actually the Lord of Thuboeth.

two armies. There's Michael and his angels that are an army. And then there's the dragon and his

angels that are an army. And they're both subject to Jesus. He's the Lord of hosts. None of

what I just mentioned rules over him. He rules over at all. There's nothing that Satan can do without

permission. We learned that from the book of Job. Oh, have you considered my servant Job? Satan

you're going to and fro in the earth,

checking out who you can, you know, devour.

Because that's his deal.

Steel, kill, and destroy.

And I don't know if Job and the Lord had a conversation

once he got there or whatever,

but it was like, wow, did you have to?

He's also Lord of all the earth.

Check this out now.

He's Lord of all the earth.

All of creation.

Colossians, the first chapter of the Gospel of John says there's nothing that was made that he didn't make.

Think about that.

Think about creation.

Then you go to Colossians chapter one and it says that everything was made through him and by him.

And by him all things consist.

Or in other words, all things are held together.

My life has been so much more held together since I've known Jesus.

as before.

I was a mess.

I was falling apart.

I still gravitate that way sometimes,

but he's faithful to pick us up.

He's the Lord of all the earth.

He created all things.

And for his pleasure, they were created.

The Bible tells us.

And the thirdly, he is the Lord of Lords.

There is no greater.

None.

He has no rivals.

Oh, some think in our,

in a delusional world where they think they can rival Christ.

He has no rivals.

He's the Lord of the Sabbath.

Listen, please listen to this.

Because I have friends that are so wotted up about which day you worship,

some of them honestly believe for those who worship on Sunday,

they're going to hell.

They honestly believe that.

because the Sabbath was

it was Saturday.

It was sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.

That was the Sabbath day.

We as Christians worship on the first day of the week

because the Lord of the Sabbath was resurrected,

was raised on the first day of the week.

That's why they call it the Lord's Day.

Right?

So listen, the Sabbath was created.

Well, what does something?

Bible say about created things. We're not to worship created things. We're not to worship creative

things, not angels, not anything. No graven image. We're not to worship anything other than

the king of kings and the Lord of Lords. So when he says that he's the Lord of the Sabbath,

he's taking precedent over the Sabbath. He's reigning over the top of it, right? The Sabbath,

it says in Mark 2.27, and he said to them, the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

In other words, the day is subject to you and I, not us to it.

And people say, well, in the law, it was death if you violated the Sabbath.

It was. But that's not when the Sabbath was established.

It was established at creation.

So the Sabbath day is a created thing that God did it created in creation where we're not to worship created things.

And Paul Apostle, Paul condemns the idea in Romans chapter 1, verse 24.

Romans 1:24

For God, so God let these people go their own way.

They did what they wanted to do and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful things with their bodies.

they gave up the truth about God for a lie, listen, and they worshipped God's creation instead of God,

who will be praise forever, amen.

These guys were literally putting such an emphasis on the day that God created, that they've forgotten God.

My old friend calls it Hardening of the Categories.

Right?

They were just stuck in this place.

I was telling somebody that's night.

I said, you know what?

The older I get, the more I learn about God, the more I say, I don't know.

I don't know.

Right?

I mean, there are things that I do know that are obvious, right?

I'm very aware of what the Bible calls sin, and I try to gravitate away from that.

And if people want to worship on Saturday,

God bless them. Go for it. And if people want to worship on Sunday or Monday or Tuesday, like Paul said, I treat every day the same. It's like a Sabbath for me. I worship and I can rest in the fact that I'm going to heaven. That's what Sabbath means is rest. And God established it one in seven. It's interesting that God took the Sabbath on the seventh day. But Adam and Eve, their very first day on earth was a Sabbath.

It was the first day.

It's fascinating that these guys get this watered up because we ain't are done.

I mean, this thing goes on and on.

And you're just like, are you kidding me?

You're hanging on to this thing?

And they do.

So we're not to worship the Sabbath.

We're to worship the Lord of the Sabbath.

Right?

So, oh rats, I'm out of time.

And the Bible says the Sabbath, Sabbath means rest, right?

And Jesus has come to give you and I rest, where he said, come unto me.

Oh, you are who are weary and heavy laden, and I'll give your rest.

Rest for your souls.

I mean, it's a rest that runs deep.

And you can just rest in the very fact that God is good and he is merciful.

I am not.

But I can rest in the fact that he is.

And even then when I fail, if I'm just faithful and just to confess my sin before him,

God washes me clean and his mercies are new every morning, right?

and I can live in the joy of the Lord, which is truly my strength.

And I just pray that that's your place today,

that you've put your faith, not in you being good,

or you keeping a certain set of rules,

because the fact is eventually we break rules.

How many of you have ever driven a car?

You know, I'm slipping.

As I'm getting older, I got to have these things, or I can't really read that well.

I pray that you're resting in that.

The Lord of the Sabbath.

The Lord of rest.

That those who are in his embrace have come to Christ, your soul's at rest.

It's at peace.

A peace that passes all understanding.

If you don't have that, the prayer team's going to be down here as we close.

And I just invite you.

Just go and pray.

Just pray and ask for the peace of God.

You know, the Bible says you have not because you ask not.

Jesus said, won't the Father who loves us, gives us, give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

He really will.

Let's pray, shall we?

Father, thank you.

Thank you for being our rest.

Lord, that you have come and you have shown us the way.

Lord, that you're the way of peace.

And you're the one who can, Lord, truly give us rest for our souls.

And so I just pray for anyone today, Lord, who is yet to receive you, Lord, that you would fill them with your Holy Spirit.

But they would just ask, say, oh, Lord, give me your spirit, that I might be your disciple.

Lord, thank you for your forgiveness that is, it's complete.

Lord, that we simply humble ourselves and ask, and you tell us that you do wash us and you cleanse us from all in righteousness.

That's why you came.

That's why you shed your blood.

Lord, so bless your people today as they seek you.

And, Lord, that you would answer the questions that many of us have in our hearts.

Lord, do you love us?

Do you have a plan for us?

And we know that the answer to that, to both, is in the affirmative.

Yes and yes. So we ask that you would go before us this week, Lord, make our paths straight,

Lord, help us to be bold for our God because you are so bold to go to the cross for us

and to rise again. In Jesus' name. Amen. Let's all stand.
