  1. Welcome to His Story, Our Story, a fresh podcast series

  2. of interviews, testimonies, messages, and anecdotes where a range of

  3. people from all walks of life share their journey as

  4. they've traveled with Jesus. Here at Southland Church and Pasaden Adelaide,

  5. our heart and mission is to pursue the presence of

  6. God through a Christ centered, Bible based, spirit filled church.

  7. We disciple and equip people to make a positive difference

  8. for the Kingdom of God and impact every area where

  9. God places them. So sit back, grab a cup of

  10. tea or coffee, unless, of course, you're driving where both

  11. hands are needed on the wheel, and enjoy this episode.

  12. We pray that you are blessed and encouraged as you

  13. listen to His Story Our Story.

  14. I'm excited today. I feel like the Lord.

  15. I'm saying that he wants to be that your God

  16. of hope today. He wants you to know him as

  17. the God of hope today, and there is an invitation

  18. for us to enter into hope. Let's have a look

  19. together at Matthew seven. Chapter I already told you Chapter seven,

  20. verse twenty four to twenty seven. I want to read

  21. to you, and then we're going to move. I'm not

  22. going to talk for too long because i just want

  23. to minister to people today. But it says this in

  24. verse twenty four. Everyone, then, who hears these words of

  25. mine and does them, will be like a wise man

  26. who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell,

  27. and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat

  28. on that house, but it did not fall, because it

  29. had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears

  30. these words of mine and does not do them will

  31. be like a foolish man to built his house on

  32. the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came,

  33. and the winds blew and beat against that house, and

  34. it fell, and great was the.

  35. Fall of it.

  36. The wise man builty his house upon the rock. The

  37. wise man builty his house upon the rock. The wise

  38. man builty his house.

  39. Upon the rock.

  40. And the house he ain't tumbling down. We're gonna do

  41. it all.

  42. The rain came down, and the flood came up.

  43. The rain came down, See deez, got it, Come on, dee.

  44. The rain came down, and the floods came up, and

  45. the house.

  46. On the rock stood fair.

  47. We all know it. We've all sung the song. We've

  48. all read it. I feel like the Lord wanting to

  49. encourage you today. You can build your life on the

  50. rock that is Christ and his word to you, so

  51. that when the rains come down and when the storm

  52. comes up, you can be one who is on the

  53. firm foundation of Christ, immovable, unshakable in your hope, immovable,

  54. unshakable in his word to you.

  55. Because as we take him.

  56. At his word, we will be like the man Jesus said.

  57. Who build his life upon the rock.

  58. That's exciting because that means that there is always hope,

  59. no matter what the situation or circumstance looks like. Jesus

  60. didn't say build your life upon the rock and then

  61. there'll be smoothswaters and always sunny days like in Queensland.

  62. There's not really, but it is pretty. She just shows

  63. off all winter, to be honest.

  64. But Jesus said.

  65. That even in the midst of the storm, there is

  66. an answer for you, that there is an anchor for

  67. you found in the word of Jesus to you. Isn't

  68. that awesome? And so, as I said, it doesn't mean

  69. that things are always bribe James. Chapter one says, in

  70. this world you will have trials.

  71. But take heart, I.

  72. Have overcome the world, Jesus said, So we thank you

  73. for that, Lord. And so in life we all have

  74. difficulties of many varieties, shapes and kinds.

  75. Of all of them.

  76. So it's imperative then that we build our house upon

  77. Jesus Christ. Otherwise will be like the unwise man who

  78. was buffeted about by the wind and the waves, and

  79. his house didn't stand. But you, in this house here,

  80. have built your life upon him who is Christ. So

  81. you don't have to be intimidated by the waves or

  82. afraid of the storm.

  83. Isn't that great news?

  84. You can stand in the midst of and say, bring

  85. me the horizon, bring me the new day. Yes, it's

  86. his word for you. It's his promise for you. And

  87. as we're anchored in hope, anchored in love, anchored in truth,

  88. we can stand in difficulties and the hardships of life

  89. and remain in hope because the Father is the same yesterday,

  90. today and forever. And this storm has not changed who

  91. he is or he's promised to me. That's why you

  92. live in the promised Land. That's where you live in

  93. the place of dreams coming true, seated with Christ and

  94. heavenly places Ephesians three fourteen. To rule and govern and

  95. reign with him.

  96. Happy day.

  97. That means every day of your life can be the

  98. best day ever, the best day of your life, because

  99. you're not living according to what is going.

  100. On around you.

  101. You are living out of the fullness of Him who

  102. is faithful and true, and you have built your life

  103. upon his word.

  104. Amed This is awesome.

  105. This will make you happy because my hope level and

  106. my happiness level is not to by circumstance. It is

  107. determined entirely on the one who I've placed my hope.

  108. And his name is faithful and true. It's so good.

  109. So we're not moved by what we see. We're only

  110. moved by what we believe. His word to us, our

  111. precious Jesus, faithful and true.

  112. It's who he is. And so, as I said, there

  113. is an invitation for us to enter into hope.

  114. Hope can be defined as the joyful anticipation of good.

  115. It's like, oh, this might be difficult, but I know

  116. something's coming. This might feel challenging right now, but I

  117. have a word from the Lord, and he's good to

  118. fulfill his promise to me. So I am not moving.

  119. I am moving ahead. I am not moving in my belief,

  120. but I am moving ahead into what he said in

  121. spite of what is going on around me and he

  122. cause we look at him as we've I loved your worship.

  123. It was wonderful. Thank you, he says.

  124. We spend time looking in his face, and it reminds

  125. us who he is, and it reminds us who we are.

  126. We're able then to continue in his word to us.

  127. Remember what did Jesus say, If you continue in my word,

  128. you are truly my disciples, and then we'll know the truth,

  129. and the truth will set you free. His word leads

  130. you into freedom as you continue in it.

  131. That's a good day.

  132. It's a happy day for you. So I want to

  133. encourage you and hope. The Jesus Christ and the Word

  134. of God is that anchor for us, His love for

  135. us Hebrews six nineteen.

  136. We have this hope as an anchor for our.

  137. Soul, firm and secure. Romans fifteen thirteen says this, May

  138. the God of.

  139. Hope, May the God of hope is.

  140. May the God of Hope fill you with all joy

  141. and peace in believing as you believe, be filled with

  142. joy and peace, so that by the power of the

  143. Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope. It's a gift

  144. given by the Holy Spirit as you trust in Him.

  145. I like how the Passion Translation puts it Roman's fifteen thirteen.

  146. Now, may God, the inspiration and.

  147. Fountain of Hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy

  148. and perfect peace as you trust in Him. As you

  149. trust in Him in the midst of may He fill

  150. you with uncontainable joy and perfect peace. And may the

  151. power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with

  152. his superabundance till you radiate with hope. Have you ever

  153. met people who radiate with hope? They're great to be

  154. around because every difficulty it's just an invitation to a miracle.

  155. Every delay is an invitation into your promised land. And

  156. so your difficulty you don't need to Like David, why

  157. are you downcast? Oh, my soul, hope in God, Hope

  158. in God Israel. You speak to your soul, you remind

  159. yourself of the promise of God to you. You put

  160. it in front of your face, You put it Jesus.

  161. Is the promise. You put him in front of your face,

  162. and you keep running after him. Amen. Amen. And so

  163. as I said, I'm not going to talk long today,

  164. so I want to pray for you. But how do

  165. we build?

  166. Well, Tom already told us, which was awesome, Thanks Tom,

  167. that we build.

  168. Our house on the rock that is Christ, and we

  169. build in His love for us.

  170. You build in the place of intimacy. There's no substitute

  171. for it.

  172. It's great to hear the word from other people.

  173. It's wonderful to listen to teaching, and I love that

  174. and I do that, but nothing will can substitute your

  175. own time with the Lord, when you go into your

  176. room and close the door and wait upon you and

  177. allow His love to fill you. And like it says

  178. in Romans eight about verse nineteen, Tom was talking about

  179. that way that the Holy Spirit makes God's fatherhood real

  180. to us as he whispers into our innermost being, you

  181. were God's beloved child.

  182. And then we cry out, ab Ah, Father.

  183. Need to be drinking from the river of His pleasure

  184. for you.

  185. And it's available for you. And I tell you what,

  186. no one would pick fast food when there is.

  187. A gaurmet meal that has been prepared for you. So

  188. there's a few He's prepared for you. Every day, every day,

  189. come and eat, Come and eat, and allow His love

  190. to fill you till you overflow, to fill you, until

  191. you radiate with hope. It's not denial, it's not pretending Allah,

  192. this isn't happening. No, it's recognizing that there is a

  193. truth that is greater than my present circumstance, and I'm living,

  194. I'm moving ahead into that reality because it already exists,

  195. if He's promised it, it's already exists in the land

  196. of the Spirit.

  197. And we call things that be not as though they are. Ooh,

  198. it's good, We're gonna get there. It's great, Thank you Lord,

  199. Thank you Lord.

  200. So we build in the place of intimacy, We build

  201. on the rock who is Christ and his love.

  202. Getting to know.

  203. You is you're getting to know him, getting to know

  204. all about him. There is something about the proclamation of

  205. our life that can say every day, I know God

  206. and I'm getting to know him. I know God and

  207. I'm getting to know him and taking steps ahead in

  208. pursuit of him, in pursuit of he's face, or we

  209. get to know what he's like through time spent with him.

  210. And there's again, there's no shortcut to that process. You

  211. get to know someone well by time with them. And

  212. I knew Jesse when.

  213. I met him and fell in love with him a

  214. long time ago, but I'm still getting to know him

  215. more every day.

  216. I just realized I've been in relationship with that man

  217. for eighteen glorious years.

  218. Isn't that awesome? That's longer than I've been alive? No,

  219. do you know what I mean? That's more than half

  220. my life. I'm not sixteen. That's more than I just

  221. smaller than half my life. That's cool. Married for almost fifteen.

  222. Years, and I know Jesse, but I'm getting to know him.

  223. And so that's why.

  224. With the Father, it's a love that lasts a lifetime

  225. and then an eternity.

  226. And forever more.

  227. We get to know God and you build your life

  228. upon him, Amen.

  229. Amen.

  230. And trust is built through time spent with another, isn't it?

  231. When you when they do what they say they were.

  232. Going to do? Reminds me of the Father. Every time

  233. you come to him and he has fresh bread for you.

  234. Every time you look at him and you see him

  235. looking back.

  236. He is faithful and true, and so you can trust

  237. and believe him and take him at his word to

  238. you and your faith is activated to move on His word.

  239. Amen.

  240. So we build on the word. What did God say?

  241. It's such a powerful tool. I remind myself in the

  242. midst of difficulty, like, what did God say about this situation?

  243. That's why you have to have.

  244. A word from the Word to build your life on.

  245. That's why you need to receive a word from the

  246. Holy Spirit to be able. He's raim a word to

  247. you at his fresh word for you today to build

  248. your life on. And so when you meet a difficulty

  249. or a trial or what feels like a speed bump,

  250. as you go to move towards something, you go to

  251. war with the word, you remind yourself, what did God say?

  252. I'm so grateful my parents taught me this. So he

  253. used to say, like, oh, I'm not truly sure to

  254. do I was going to do this, but now this

  255. has happened, I'm not sure about that. And they'd say, well,

  256. what did God say? I'm like, well, he actually said this,

  257. And they said, well, then I guess it's not over yet.

  258. And you just get to believe, like yes, and we

  259. move ahead based on the word of God. To us,

  260. that's what we build our life on. The rock that

  261. is Christ. And so that challenging thing then doesn't doesn't

  262. become a storm that wipes me off course, and oh,

  263. maybe I'll try something different now. No, I remain steadfast

  264. according to his word, because I've built my life upon

  265. the rock.

  266. There's a side God.

  267. We get shipwrecked because we think, oh, maybe we see

  268. a challenge and we think, oh, maybe that wasn't the Lord,

  269. or maybe there's just.

  270. An enemy of your soul.

  271. But many of the afflictions of the righteous, the Lord says,

  272. the Word says, but the Lord delivers them from him.

  273. All so I will not give the enemy the satisfaction

  274. of taking me off course. I will not glorify my

  275. experience over the promise of God to me. What is

  276. written here in the word, we go to war. The

  277. word is your weapon. You go to war with the word.

  278. This is what he said to me, And he promises,

  279. even pulse to Timothy, my beloved son, wage war.

  280. The prophetic words spoken over you.

  281. It's it recognizes there is a battle for what the

  282. Lord has called you to walk into. And we don't

  283. power and fear and run away, but we move ahead

  284. in the power of the Holy Spirit, in the power

  285. of love and hope based on the word that he

  286. is given to us.

  287. Amen, this is so good.

  288. If we believe this, it'll change your life.

  289. It really will.

  290. I used to live like this, really buffeted by who.

  291. Now it's just like smooth sailing, like I live with me.

  292. You do not need to be.

  293. Have a bad day and be put off again. It's

  294. not denial, but there is a greater reality that.

  295. I live from. It's for you too. It's for each

  296. and every one of us. Amen.

  297. And so we call things a kind of adding to

  298. Romans four seventeen. We call things to that being, not

  299. as though they are. We don't allow life to tell

  300. us how it's going to be. I don't have time for.

  301. That, haha. Because there is a nature to be received.

  302. There is a nation that the Lord wants to see

  303. come into the fullness of her destiny. And if I'm

  304. busy looking at me and chasing my tail with the

  305. cares of life, I don't have time to look at

  306. him and remind look at circumstances, and I say this,

  307. you're lying to me.

  308. This is what he said.

  309. You need to come into alignment with what he said,

  310. because he is the authority.

  311. What Dad says.

  312. Goes and so no, I just won't agree with this

  313. and receive it these symptoms in my body.

  314. You're lying to.

  315. Me because he said that divine health is my inheritance.

  316. And if I was, then I am one Peter two

  317. twenty four. If I was, then I was, I like

  318. to say, and then I is, then I am men.

  319. Yes, that is the right response.

  320. It's so good, this one who is faithful and true.

  321. And so I feel like that the.

  322. Lord this morning wants to blow off disappointment. I saw

  323. him coming in and just blowing off disappointment, blowing off discouragement,

  324. because do you know what's lying underneath that? He's truth

  325. to you, and he's lifting your level of hope today,

  326. lifting your expectation so you can dream again, so you

  327. can believe again, so you can wake up excited about

  328. the days to come.

  329. I get excited about going to sleep.

  330. Because it's beautiful and restorative, of course, and I get

  331. to dream with the Lord.

  332. But I'm so excited about waking up in the morning.

  333. What are you going to do today? Father? What do

  334. you have prepared? Oh?

  335. Another love me, feast for me? Well, who are we

  336. going to encounter today? What miracles do you want to

  337. do through me? What would you have me partner with

  338. in prayer? How can I love that person beside me?

  339. Who do I get to bring into your kingdom?

  340. Woohoo?

  341. And however it's expressed through your life. We all have

  342. different worlds and glorious callings, and the Lord wants to

  343. see you move into the fullness of who.

  344. You are right where you are. Right where you are.

  345. You will talk to people and encounter people that I

  346. may never meet. That pastor Gary or Sarah may never meet.

  347. When they have saved, they will.

  348. But you have an opportunity to be yourself right where

  349. you are. The love of God looks good on you,

  350. and he wants to come through you. And again we're

  351. when we have come out of discouragement and come out

  352. of despair and allowed our hearts to believe again and

  353. us spirits to dream again. Then it causes us to

  354. look up and we see every person as an opportunity

  355. not to get something from, but to just pour the

  356. love of God on you, just to love them, just

  357. to love them. I love it when the Lord prompts

  358. you to do something for someone. Perhaps you know them,

  359. perhaps you don't, And that always comes eventually. Why but

  360. why why would you pay for my petrol? Because the

  361. God of the Bible loves you and he wants to

  362. demonstrate his love to you today.

  363. It's so simple. We've over complicated it.

  364. But when you are grounded in truth and in hope,

  365. you will see opportunities everywhere to love people and to

  366. lead them to Jesus. In your workplace, in your place

  367. of education, if you're a mom or a dad at

  368. home with the kids, you'll see an opportunity. I tell

  369. you what many a battle has been one at.

  370. The clothesline.

  371. Because people saw an opportunity right where they were to

  372. love him.

  373. Oh well, is this making sense? Oh was this making sense? Okay?

  374. That's goodness. I'm glad no one was like no, okay.

  375. So he's blowing off disappointment so you can remain in hope.

  376. And where there's been delay, I want to encourage you.

  377. He is the glory and the lifter of your head,

  378. and he is strengthening your hands for battle today.

  379. So you can look to the day with great hope and.

  380. Expectation because there is hope on your horizon.

  381. There is hope on your horizon.

  382. Thank you for joining us today for his story, our

  383. story We hope you've enjoyed this episode and have been
