Okay, if you're new here or you're just forgetful, I'm Gary,

one of the pastors, and so welcome to you guys,

and it's always a lovely time. But it's an interesting

time to actually speak a message when you've just been

through the Easter season. It's because East is just awesome

and it's all like, okay, now we're through the end

of it, and you go, okay, that is good, But

like it's just you're coming down, and you'd actually we're

going up, because that's actually what it was and is.

And we'll be someone talk on this this morning. It

might seem simple at first, but praying that we we

grasp it and the parent it's the Easter message, but

it's actually God made the way. It's God made the way,

and He's the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. And so

I want to focus on Bale perisim. It's one of

the names of God. Now, I think in the Church

we tend to think of the name bale as a

false God, and that is one definition in the Hebrew.

But the actual word itself in the Hebrew simply means

to be lord or to rule over for ours. That

bit there interesting is to break through or to breach,

but it's plural. It's plural in the Hebrew. So bale perisim,

this is one of the names of God. And why

is it a name of God? Because it describes who

God is. This is something that you see in the

scriptures all the way along. The Scripture tends to often

define things by the characteristics of them. So, for instance,

when Jesus was casting out a spirit that had the

manifestation of someone being deaf and dumb. He would say,

deaf and dumb spirit come out. So quite often the

names reflect the character. And this is actually God of

the Breakthrough, and there's a history to it. So I

want to go back and read where this comes from

and then follow it through to the church. So I'm

reading now from to Samuel five seventeen to twenty. When

the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel,

they went up in full force to search for him.

But David heard about it and went down to the stronghold.

Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the

valley of Raphaem in quiet of the Lord, Shall I

go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into

my hands? The Lord answered him, go, for I am

surely will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands. So

David went to bail Perizim, and there he defeated them.

He said, as water breaks out, the Lord has broken

out against my enemies before me. So that place was

called bail Perizim, God of the Breakthrough, God of the Breakthrough.

In many ways, this is a shadow, a foreshadow of

the Easter Story see what happens is David is anointed,

David belongs to God, and immediately that happened. What do

we read? The enemy heard this and went out in

full force against him. Welcome to being one of God's children.

If you thought that was going to be a better Roses, yeah,

bad luck. So what's happening here? Note here they went

up in full force to search for him. Note that

the enemy comes after you in full force and doesn't

give up. They searched, But note what happens. But David

heard about it and went to the stronghold. When David

was confronted with an enemy that was greater than his

power to victor, he went to the stronghold. First thing

he did, he went to the stronghold, which is, he

went to seek the Lord of heaven and earth. He

doesn't fear, He just takes it to God. He takes

it to God and trusts. He's positioned himself. He had

a choice. He could do it in his own strength,

or he could actually just position himself. That's what he did.

He placed himself at the stronghold. We read on now

the Philistines had come and spread out in the valley

of Raphaem so David inquired of the Lord, shall I

go and attack the Philistines when you deliver them into

my hands? Can you see here David's well aware of

the enemy. But David's not focused on the enemy because

he's saying shall I go and attack them or not?

Because his focus is not on the size of the enemy,

but on the size of his God. That's the key here,

because David knows the Lord he's God. He knows God's

promises that he'll never leave David or forsake him, that

he will be there. And so you see him position

himself and he seeks the Lord's direction. Shall I go

and attack? But he doesn't run ahead. Remember Jesus' words,

they're actually very simple when you think about two words,

follow me a bit more difficult to do, but it

is that simple. It's the same here, shall I go

and attack? He just waits. It's going to be yes

or no. Trust God, stay in the stronghold, stay with

the Lord, asked the Lord. And then note how he

listens to the God of the breakthrough. Here. The Lord

answered him, go for I will surely deliver the Philistines

into your hands. So David went to bail Praisim, and

there he defeated them. He didn't run ahead, he waited

for the directions from the Lord, and then David obeyed. See,

David co labored. David partnered with God, and the victory

was his. The victory didn't come from David's own strength,

because it was actually the Lord who said, go, I'll

give you the victory. But did you notice the victory?

God could have done it, but the victory didn't happen

before David asked the question David. Actually, God wanted to

work through David. Now, sometimes we don't understand why He

chooses to work through us and whatever and one of

them we don't have to. That's God's sovereign. He can

do what he likes. But so often he does this.

He wants to work through people, his people, so he

slows it down. And so it's what we call we

co labor. It doesn't mean we're equal with God when

we co labor. What it means is we're just we're partnering.

He's the Lord, were his children. But together he gives

the victory. He gives the victory. And then we read

proclaiming this testimony of the God of the breakthrough he said,

as waters break out, the Lord has broken out against

the end. My enemies before me know where the glory's

going here it's not to David. David's the king. Could

you imagine this would have been from an earthly perspective,

You go, this is the time. Hey, you've had the

biggest victory. You're trying to cement your leadership over Israel.

Here's the time. You know I'm the glorious king. Look

what I did? You don't see that here? As water

waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my

enemies before me. David knows where the power is, and

he knows where the glory sits, and he gives it

to God. What's happened here? The Lord came. The Lord

had a plan and a purpose. But for that to happen,

David wasn't capable in his own strength and abilities because

he faced an enemy that was overwhelming. But God stepped

in and through the power of God breaking through, David victored.

And you see the parallel with Easter. It's the same

beauty that we see Easter in the Easter story, the

love and the righteousness of God breaking through, breaking through

because the world remembered John three sixteen. John so loved

the world. He gave his only son see the world.

We all faced an enemy that was insurmountable. But along

comes Easter. The Lord broke through. He gave us that.

It's a simple message. God broke through for us. See,

we couldn't do it. We couldn't do it humanity. Every

single one of us was lost in our sin. That's

the reality. And you don't often hear it said these

days because we don't like to use the words in

we were going to hell. It's really quite simple. That

is the gospel message. We were lost in our sin.

We couldn't get across that chasm. So what happened Abba

Father provided the breakthrough. He sent his one and only

son into the world that whoever would believe in him

should not perish, but have eternal life. It's that moment

of us going to the stronghold, going to Jesus saying, Lord,

I can't do it. I repented my sin. That we

cross over. It's grace. It's the grace of God. Can

you see the character of God all the way through?

But he not only just does the dying for our sin,

it's the resurrection. Good Friday gets rid of the sin.

The resurrection gives you eternal life and power while you're here, right,

because Jesus came back to life. Remember when Paul says that,

you know, if Jesus hasn't risen from the grave, you know, yeah,

we're basically all hopeless. And he's right because the resurrection

was life. He was life. But you know what, there's more.

I feel like the ginsun I said, and there's more

there is. This is the most amazing story, the Easter story.

But it doesn't stop on Resurrection night. But it's there

and you can see what's happening. I want to read

from John twenty nineteen to twenty two. On the evening

of that first day of the week, when the disciples

were together with the doors locked for fear of the

Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said,

peace be with you. This is resurrection night. As he

said this, he showed them his hands and sighed, no,

it's a physical resurrection. The disciples were overjoyed when they

saw the Lord. That's probably one of the most underrated,

understated verses in the scripture. Could you imagine when you

thought he was dead and he's turned up, Imagine that

they were overjoyed when they saw the Lord again. Jesus said,

peace be with you, as the Father has sent me,

I'm sending you. And with that he breathed on them

and said, receive the Holy Spirit. They now have the

spirit of God dwelling in them. Remember Paul scripture, we're

a temple of the Holy Spirit. It's starting here. We

have the Holy Spirit counselor comforter already given to us.

This is God of the breakthrough, because we didn't have that.

Without God, we can't have shalom peace. It's a gift

of God, and God's doing this. But I love it.

And then we read in Acts what eight. But you

will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you,

and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all

Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

Note this, and there's more. So then you get what happens.

We know this is coming now with Pentecost. So it's

not just counts on comfort, but there's power. There's the

same power that's going to work through us that worked

for David when he went down to fight the Philistines.

It's a power that comes from God. We can't do

it ourselves. It's him. It's him that does it. And

this is what happens. This is acts too, getting ahead

of Pentecost Sunday, but this is where we're going with it.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together

in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of

a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole

house where they were sitting. They saw what happened, or

they saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that

separated and came to rest on each of them. All

of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they

began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

This is the start of that Holy Spirit power coming

on them. This is where the start of where we

see the gifts of the Holy Spirit appearing. We certainly

didn't see the manifestation of all the gifts straight away.

Because it's interesting when you look at Pentecost, that first

experience of Pentecost, it actually seems to be the first

gift is actually the speaking of other human languages. Because remember,

there was a whole lot of Jewish believers who'd come

from the diaspora, and they'd all come from everywhere, met there,

and the first thing they go, how is it that

we're hearing all these people preaching and speaking to us

in our own languages. That's the start, and that actually

tells you something. It actually tells you that the heart

of God is to reach every person. It's really interesting

that that's the first thing you read at Pentecost is

the gospel, the power of the Gospel being able to

reach hearts no matter the language barrier, which actually fits

when you think about the great commission go out and

make disciples interesting to watch. God is providing the breakthrough.

Could these guys speak these languages? No, they couldn't, but

God did through them. That's why this happened. See, it's

the power of God. It's God of the breakthrough, continuing

to break through, being true to his character. And this

is how he brings his good purposes to pass because

he equips us to do it. He's given us authority.

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He continues

to break through. This a story, this one from Paul

and Silas. As the church is just starting to grow,

reading from Acts sixty, suddenly there was a great earthquake,

so that the foundation of the prison was shaken. Remember

Paul and Silas, they're in prison, they've been beaten, they're

down the bottom, shackled, And immediately all the doors were

open and everybody's chains were loosed. God is God of more.

He didn't just loosen Paul and Silass, he released the

captives and the keeper of the prison. Awaking from sleep

and seeing that the prison doors were opened, supposing the

prisoners had fled Drui's Sworden was about to kill himself. Remember,

unto Rome, if you prisoner escaped, you played with your life,

so that was automatic execution for you. That's why he

was going to do it himself and save the effort.

But Paul called out in a loud voice, saying, do

yourself no harm, for we are all here. Can you see,

God of the Breakthrough, Paul and Silas could not get

out of that prison in their own strength. They'd been beaten,

they shackled by prisoners. The Philippian jailer also was spiritually

blind to the truth of the gospel. So what happens,

God of the Breakthrough enters into that situation. He frees

the prisoners. He actually frees the Philippian jailer and We

actually read later on that that was the beginning basically

of the church in Philippi. It spread through that region.

Could you imagine the story the transformation of lives. It's

God of the breakthrough. He's still doing it today. He

is still doing it today. So it's interesting. Paul writes

this towards the end of his ministry. Who is writing

to the church in Rome from Romans fifteen. He says, Therefore,

I glory in Christ Jesus, note that all the glories

to God. In my service to God, I will not

venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished

through me in leading the gentiles to obey God by

what I have said and done, by the power of

sign and signs and wonders, through the power of the

Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around

to a Lyricum, I have fully proclaimed the Gospel of Christ.

Can you see here? This is why he talks about

signs and wonders. They weren't the key. What he's saying

is it's the full package. God is God of the breakthrough.

So the gospel message is actually a gospel of power.

It's the power to take you from death to life

and wonder why people. And I've sometimes heard Christians who say, oh,

God doesn't work. That gives to the Holy Spirit. God

doesn't do miracles anymore unless he decides to do it randomly,

and he doesn't do that sort of stuff. And I

sit down and go, do you believe in the resurrection? Oh? Yes,

I said, how can you believe in that? That's a

much bigger thing to believe than the other when you

think about it. That's why Paul writes this, because it's

God of the breakthrough. He is faithful. God is still

at work. It hasn't changed. He hasn't changed. When Jesus

told us to go out the Great Commission, he said,

gall out into all the world and preach the Gospel.

But just go through Mark, the end of Mark, and

he tells you what it will be like. It'll be

cast out demons, it'll be healer sick, and so on.

There's signs and wonders with that. Why because the Gospel

is powerful. What's the Holy Spirit? It's the same spirit

that rose Jesus from the dead, So why would he

expect why would we expect him suddenly to be any different?

In the ministry sends us out too why would that be.

This is from Paul writing to the churches Nephesus and

that region page of minor here has been God. His

intent was that, now note this, through the Church, the

manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the

rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to the

eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Note it's through the Church. But note also to where

the wisdom of God should be made known to the

rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms. Like King David,

we face an enemy. David had to go out. He

went out in the power of God, and God provided

the victory. But David had to go out there. God

didn't provide the victory over the Philistines by saying, David,

you sit and just have a little comfy stool there

and just watch like you watching some streaming service. No,

it was get off your blessed assurance. Now go and

fight as I telled you and tell you to do.

It is the same here the Church. We are the

body of Christ, and we are the ones to make

known where to the rules of the authority in the

heavenly realms. In other words, into that spiritual realm. We

are responsible for that, but he's equipped us to do it.

He's equipped us to do it. This is later on

he writes in that same letter, for we don't we

he's talking about the church here. We do not wrestle

against flesh and blood. In other words, it's not human beings,

but it's against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers

of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of

wickedness in the heavenly places. It's called spiritual warfare. That

is what you face. Spiritual warfare has a physical manifestation.

You will see, you can see demonic activity, and you

will see the physical Well was that You've only got

to look at it. How many times have we seen

horrific things happen around the world, And you go, what

human being can do that? And often you go, well, actually,

something else operating in the human being that does that.

We need to be ready, We need to be listening

to what the Lord says. David went to the stronghold.

We do the same when we face these battles, when

we face this enemy, we go to the stronghold, and

we already have the Word of God telling us anyway.

But we go to the stronghold also for confirmation on

timing how to go about it, and the Lord will speak.

I heard beautiful things this morning, just simple things of

walking in the spirit. I just want to embarrass a

couple of people, but actually it's for a good purpose.

You'll see why. Our music team this morning. The guys

turn up. This morning, we were meant to have Matt

on drums, and unfortunately overnight Matt and the family and

they're fine now by the way, but they ended up

with one of them at hospital for a brief thing.

Matt was on drums six thirty or whatever. We've got

the WhatsApp word came out and that said, I can't

do it, but praying for you guys, but I cannot

be here today. It's interesting, Paul, you saw on drums,

had no warning six point thirty. I saw the thing.

A bit after that. Paul says, got it covered. I'll

be on. Paul came in. This is what I love.

Paul came in. He said, oh, I'm ready to go.

But during the week, the Holy Spirit said to me,

I just need to rehearse Sunday set even tho, I'm

not on and so he said, I don't know why,

but I'll do it. So he did it, and you

turn up, and so Paul turns up. Now can you

hear it's that going into the You learn that in

the stronghold, because that's where you hear the voice of God.

And then you know, Obe, you don't have to understand why,

you just have to Jesus said, follow me. You didn't

say you have to understand everything. My hard drive is

not that big. I'm quite happy for him to know why.

I'll just follow. That's what I'm talking about. That's the

sort of stuff that you go, Wow, God knows. God

knows because we wrestle in this area. Jeremy Riddle, many

of you, if you come from a Vinyard background, will

know Jeremy Riddle one of the one of the really

well known godly worship leaders have had over the last

fifty years or so. Now it's interesting he he made

this comment this a little while back. I'm just reading

the quote, and I began to taste and discover the

power of his glory, the power of his presence, the

transformational atmosphere that is his glory. He made this comment

which I've got down the back corner. There. You'll only

be able to enthrone the Lord in a room or

in a region to the degree that you've enthroned him

over your own heart and life. It's really interesting. He

was a worship leader for many years, grew up as

a kid and into that, and then he left the

church where he was at, which he loved. But he

said he knew there was a new season, there was

something deeper, and he ended up He and his wife

ended up at Bethel at that time, very young couple

that met at the first church married. And he said,

he I thought he understood a lot about worship leading,

and he did. But as he got there, he said,

he walked in. It was very early on and he'd

been invited to lead worship one of the services, and

he got there. He thought he'd get there really early,

like six am, And he said, he walked into the auditorium.

He'd been given a pass. He walked in and got

the fright of his life because he went into their auditorium.

It was dark, and he started and he realized there

was a presence in the corner of the platform, and

he said, a lot the heart raced whatever and he said,

and I realized it was Bill Johnson. Every morning he

was there at least two hours before the service, interceding

in the corner in the dark. No one knew, but

he said he'd learnt something that day about how we

press in and coming against principalities and powers. He said

he learnt the second lesson actually from Bill Johnson as well.

Early on, he said, he started to worship, and he'd

been used to worshiping with a certain amount of songs

you'd prepare beforehand, and seeing God worked through them, it

was no problem. But he started, and he noticed they

had had this set ready, and he started, and apparently

the thing was at this time that Bill would sort

of given nod he was going to get up. So

he did his four songs. He waited for Bill, and

Bill did nothing, and so he continued and he kept

watching Bill because here he is, as he said, in

the middle of his service. Everyone's out there. It's being

live streamed. The teams there are meant to be leading them,

and we've already finished what we've planned. There's no communication.

And he said, ninety minutes later, Bill still sitting there,

and we're still worshiping. Ninety minutes later, he said, I've

gone through everything. He said, I've gone through you know,

we've stolely all my as he said, the pocket ones

I have needed. And he said, suddenly, I realized Bill's

not getting up. This could go on all day, and

so he said, suddenly, I just I had to just say, Lord,

what do we do? And he talked about suddenly I

realized I was now talking. It was the Lord. And

it continued and he said somehow it just it was

beautiful and it worked. Something happened, and he talked about

I learned. I learned about going into the presence of God,

and in that glory there is blessing. Remember when Moses said, Lord,

show me your glory, and then the Lord says, I

will let my goodness pass before you. It's interesting the

glory of God always brings his goodness to his people.

The message of Easter is one I'm finishing now. The

message of Easter is the story of God, of the

breakthrough God deciding through his love, his amazing love for

the world, that he would do what we could not do.

We were lost, and he made a way. He came,

He came, sent his son into the world. He's only

begotten son, fully human, fully God, and he sent him

to die for us, to die for our sins to

break through. But that breakthrough continued with the resurrection. So

not only were our sins able to be washed away,

but we could have life. Life are you and that

same power the apostle Paul showed us. Jesus said, all

authority I have is given to you, and get on

with it. That's the basic version. And you go out

in that power ministry. I will actually finish the time.

I'm not ordering a pizza, by the way, I'll just

checking the time. One example this week, we're talking about

the play cafe. He is a simple example. The play

cafe was it was busy. What Kimberly was saying was

very true. He was extremely busy. I think we had

he was nuts. I think we had close to two

hundred families through in a few hours, and we're ministering

and blessing them. And I could see there most people

just having great fun. It's a blessing to the community.

We saw some groups praying together. It's interesting tables and that.

Sure enough. I was cleaning up at the end Friday cleanup.

I'm in there trying to put toys back in the

crash was and there happened to be a lady in

there with a couple of kids, and we just got talking.

I've known her for some time. Here comes in. She's

from the faith background. And I said to her, or

he just has a gun whatever, and she said, oh,

we're expecting another child, and I said, oh, congratulations, wonderful

anyway she said. She then said to me, I'm just

a bit fearful. I'm just a bit fearful. I said,

why the children. She's got a farm, and she said, well,

I just have this fear over this child. I and

she said, I don't know why I'm telling you this,

just fear of this child. And said, okay, tell me more.

And so she talked about her and she was concerned

about basically this child could could actually be still born

through the birthing process, which I thought, okay, this is

interesting given she's already had children. Okay, it's amazing how

God works. Got the breakthrough when I first became a Christian.

I don't know why, but one of the old priests

said to me. He just said to me, Rad, you'll

need this one day. He said, always remember if you

ever come across a situation where you have to pray

for someone and they're given birth and the baby's lacking

oxygen because there's a quarter around his neck. It's demonic.

Stand against that spirit. It's always about strangulation. This guy

with some me yep, goes back. It's the old Hebrew

bit you don't eat strangled meat ascent. It's always a

sign of Satan working. Come against it, you'll fix it.

I thought, thanks for them. I'm about eighteen. It's useful information. Anyway,

forgot about it for years. I remember reading Derek Prince

ages ago, and Derek Prince said the same thing, very similar.

I think that was the case, and I'd forgotten it.

Read it a couple of other places. Anyways, I thought, okay,

talking to this lady. One of the things we do here,

Sarah and I always say to young couples here, but

also to others outside. You know, if you're having kids,

let us know. You can always ring us. We'll be

praying for you anyway. We don't need to know when

you go into labor anything like that, but just let

us know. But if if you need prayer or ring

us at any point. Already, and there was one with

this lady in mind. The Lord just brought back only

a few months back, where we'd said the same thing

to someone not from this church, and everything was, you know,

going all right again. Supposedly that had their checks, everything

was right to go. It was forty eight hours out,

everything was, everything was fine, baby was sort of in position,

locked in and to drop everything right. And suddenly we

got a phone call at about three o'clock in the morning.

And I remember it really well because I was asleep

and when you and when you suddenly wake and you

have someone saying in your ear and you can tell

it's emotionally charged, and they're saying things, and you know

things have gone horribly wrong, and they start to describe,

and they're saying, even though the scan forty eight hour

said it's fine, the baby is now breach. No one

knew the baby's coming out, and it's got a quarter

around its neck and it's breach and can't get it

out fast enough. And they're saying, you know, the doctor's

saying the ass not getting through whatever else. I reckon.

It was about two days before i'd actually picked up

an old Derek Prince book. I thought I'll just read again.

I think it was given to me by Robin deb

this one, and I'd actually just read that bit again.

I thought, oh, that minds me. Yeah, I remember about

forty eight hours three am. I'm woken and that's in

my ear. I'm thinking, no, I know. So Sarah and

I went immediately to the stronghold. I just went straight

into prayer, coming against that demonic spirit that was trying

to take the life of that child, and took all

the spiritual command because in that situation there's nothing you

can do physically anyway, let's face it. And that was fine.

And we hung up, and we continued to pray and

coming against those spirits. We were doing exactly what the

apostle Paul said, we come against the princes and principalities.

We got a phone call about twenty minutes later to

say everything's fine. It's amazing. The doctors can't believe it.

The child got all the normal symptoms of life. Everything tests,

it's all fine. Something happened. That is the power of God.

That is actually the Easter story. But as part of

the story of the God of the breakthrough, He's the

same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What Paul's testimony to the

Romans in signs, and I've preached the full Gospel in

signs and wonders. How do you do the signs and

wonders a bit? Well, it's through the power of God.

It's through the spirit. But you're battling against princes and principalities.

It's not people, it's the princes and principalities. So my

encouragement today you guys, is, as we have now finished

this wonderful Easter celebration, praise God that our God is

God of the breakthrough. Here's bail Perisan. He is the

Lord who rose from the dead, the glorified Jesus and

that resurrection life. He's given us the spirit. Yes, I

know Pentecost the celebrations a few weeks off, but we've

already got the spirit right with us. Past that we

have the Holy Spirit the key press into the stronghold.

Because the enemy will come against you on a daily basis.

That won't change. But He has given you all authority

to stand, all authority to stand in the power that

He gives. That power that breaks change, like we saw

with pauland'sis that power that can transform lives. And as

Jeremy Riddle was saying there when you understand that, when

you go to that place, suddenly you see not only

your own heart transformed, but you see your local communities

transformed because you can take that same life giving power

into those places. That's how we see transformation and cities

change for the Gospel. So I just pray that for us.
