  3. .church. Wonderful. We've got a few more parents

  4. coming back, but great to have you all here for

  5. our second of our Vision Sundays. I hope you

  6. found last Sunday helpful as we considered our

  7. why. And if you didn't, you can listen to it

  8. on... website, but trying to just paint a bigger

  9. picture for why we're doing the things that we

  10. wanted to do. But at the beginning of the year,

  11. we like to try and say a little bit about what's

  12. happening this next term. We do it again in January

  13. a little bit, but hopefully you'll find it encouraging

  14. because as we looked at last week, there's a

  15. force at work that's out to destroy and steal

  16. and kill. But there is one who comes to bring

  17. life and life to the full. Amen? Do we believe

  18. that? I really hope more of us do, really. Because

  19. that is the truth. There's one who comes to bring

  20. life and life to the full. And there's a force

  21. that's against that, trying to rob us, trying

  22. to steal from us, trying to... Distract, distort.

  23. That's why I love that last song that Nathan

  24. sang that led us in. There's a force at work

  25. against him, but the victory is that Jesus came

  26. and he's here to give us life, life to the full.

  27. And we've really got to get that why in our heads,

  28. I think, that God so loved the world that he

  29. gave his one and only son that whoever believes

  30. in him shall not perish. but have everlasting

  31. life. That's why we're here. That's why we meet

  32. on a Sunday. It's why the set -up team have already

  33. done hours. The PA team have already done hours.

  34. The kids' work team have already done hours,

  35. before we even start. That's our why, because

  36. God so loved the world that he sent his son.

  37. Jesus came from heaven. And from that moment,

  38. we see the kingdom of heaven. breaking into the

  39. world. That's what's happening amongst us. We

  40. look at the news, we look at the bleakness of

  41. the world at the minute, but there is a kingdom

  42. of heaven that is breaking in to that darkness.

  43. We live in the now, not yet, as we often say.

  44. Jesus' rule isn't fully seen. One day it will

  45. be, and there'll be no more pain or war or...

  46. Anything like that. But we live in the now and

  47. not yet. The in -between times of Jesus coming

  48. and then coming again. And Jesus is breaking

  49. in. His kingdom is breaking in. And the thing

  50. that we were looking at last week is that we

  51. are his body that he uses to see some of that

  52. kingdom advance. That's why the church is such

  53. a wonderful thing. Such a marvelous thing. Such

  54. a significant thing. We can get caught up in

  55. the narrative that there is out there that the

  56. church is on the decline and all that sort of

  57. stuff. It's irrelevant these days. But the reality

  58. is that isn't the case around the world. The

  59. kingdom of God is advancing. And the kingdom

  60. of light is breaking into darkness. And we want

  61. that to happen in our neck of the woods as well.

  62. Amen? We want to see it. And we have a big part

  63. to play in it. Because the church is the thing

  64. that God uses to see that happening. So last

  65. week we looked at Ephesians 1 and how the Apostle

  66. Paul wanted his church in Ephesus to grasp, first

  67. of all, the majesty of Jesus. The all -powerful

  68. nature of Jesus. Just the sheer wonder about

  69. who Jesus was. And all the spiritual blessings

  70. that are for us that flow out from that. And

  71. so that's why I wanted to start with that last

  72. week with the why. That all the spiritual blessings

  73. that we have in Christ are for us at this time.

  74. But there's one who wants to rob us of them.

  75. To distort things. But his time has come. And

  76. we want to see life coming. delivered from that

  77. so that we can live, as we were saying last week.

  78. See, the church, he says, is not peripheral to

  79. the world, but the world is actually peripheral

  80. to the church. I mean, that is a big thing to

  81. say, isn't it? The church is Christ's body in

  82. which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything

  83. with his presence in this school hall on a Sunday

  84. morning. And lots of other school halls and buildings

  85. and all sorts of other places as well. The church

  86. is Christ's body in which he speaks and acts.

  87. In which he fills everything with his presence.

  88. Isn't that magnificent? If you continue to read

  89. in the message, chapter 2, just the first few

  90. verses, let me just... Read this and let this

  91. just sink into your souls as we're starting our

  92. morning. It wasn't so long ago, he continues,

  93. that you were mired in that old stagnant life

  94. of sin. You let the world, which doesn't know

  95. the first thing about living, tell you how to

  96. live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief

  97. and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it.

  98. All of us doing what we felt like doing when

  99. we felt like doing it. All of us in the same

  100. boat. It's a wonder God didn't lose his temper

  101. and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead,

  102. immense in mercy and with an incredible love,

  103. he embraced us. He took our sin, dead lives and

  104. made us alive in Christ. He did it all on his

  105. own with no help from us. Then he picked us up

  106. and set us down in highest heaven in company

  107. with Jesus, our Messiah. Now God has us where

  108. he wants us. With all the time in the world and

  109. the next to shower grace and kindness upon us

  110. in Christ Jesus. Are you hearing this? Saving

  111. was his idea. And all his work, all we do is

  112. trust him enough to let him do it. It's God's

  113. gift from the start to the finish. We don't play

  114. a major role. If we did, we'd probably go around

  115. bragging that we'd done the whole thing ourselves.

  116. No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does

  117. the making and the saving. And then listen to

  118. this. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to

  119. join him in the work he does. The good work he

  120. has gotten ready for us to do. Work that we had

  121. better be doing. Sorry for the American vibe

  122. there. Unless you're American. In which case,

  123. we're not sorry. He creates each of us by Christ

  124. Jesus to join him in the work he does. Isn't

  125. that amazing? The good work he's got ready for

  126. us to do. Work that we better be getting on and

  127. doing, is what he says. And that's what's happening

  128. amongst us, Jubilee, in so many ways. It's why

  129. they're practicing the way. motto is so powerful

  130. for us to be with Jesus to become like Jesus

  131. and to do as Jesus did you're making the connections

  132. that's why we've been looking at all these things

  133. behind it is a desire to encounter Jesus be like

  134. him and do as he did and and this Sunday he's

  135. calling each one of us to join him in the work

  136. he's doing Each one of us in this room has got

  137. good works that he's gotten ready for you to

  138. do. And whether you're here this morning full

  139. of faith and passion and right on in there in

  140. your prayer lives and your fasting and your solitude

  141. and all the other things we've been looking at,

  142. he's got... Things for you to do. But also, if

  143. you've just come to faith, he's got things for

  144. you to do. If you've drifted from Jesus, he's

  145. got things for you to do. If you feel like a

  146. prodigal and you're coming back to him, he is

  147. there ready to embrace you. Because he's got

  148. things for you to do. He's created in Christ

  149. Jesus for all of us things to do. But there is

  150. a force that's out to distract you from that,

  151. to destroy that, to distort that, to put you

  152. off embracing what he has got for you in this

  153. next season. Don't be robbed. Because Jesus says,

  154. I come that you may have life and life to the

  155. full. And that's his promise. And he's the winner.

  156. He's the one who has the victory. He's the one

  157. who all authority has been given. He's the one

  158. in charge. He's the king over everything. If

  159. he tells me to love, I love. If he tells me to

  160. serve, I serve. That's the one who we come to

  161. worship. So don't write yourself off. Don't say

  162. to yourself, I haven't got enough time. I haven't

  163. got enough gifts. I've messed up too many times.

  164. I just feel lost. This is a moment for you to

  165. say, no, I don't want to be robbed. I want to

  166. find the one who brings life because he's got

  167. stuff for me to do. And if I'm in the good of

  168. that and the flow of that, good things happen.

  169. And we see the kingdom of darkness retreating

  170. and the kingdom of light advancing. Amen? But

  171. God's got things for us to do. And this Sunday

  172. is a bit more around what we're going to do than

  173. the stuff that we were talking about. And I want

  174. to try and paint a picture this week of our how

  175. and our what. So we looked at why, and we're

  176. now looking at our how and our what. what we

  177. plan to do through this term. And it's going

  178. to be a really quick little, this is the sort

  179. of, trying to capture the whole gambit of what

  180. we're going to try and do. And if you're, and

  181. I'm trusting that as I do it, that the Spirit

  182. might just whisper to different people. Yeah,

  183. get involved with that. Find out about that.

  184. Because I think he's calling some of you into

  185. things that you didn't even anticipate doing

  186. this autumn, which I think is going to be exciting

  187. for you to do. So I'm going to try and quickly

  188. go through it all, and then we're going to conclude.

  189. But it's all based, if you like, on our little

  190. things that we have up here, the Great Commission

  191. and the Great Command. We have this little booklet.

  192. It's very out. Now, if you look at the pictures

  193. of the kids, look at that, very young. Anyway,

  194. it's a great little booklet, though, and it gives

  195. us our mission. Our mission is to go and build

  196. a diverse church of world -changing disciples

  197. in order to glorify God and make Him known to

  198. the world. That's what our mission has been over

  199. the years. It continues to be that. We still

  200. want to do that. And in this little booklet,

  201. it talks about our... the cultures that we want

  202. to do it. We still want to welcome people. We

  203. still want to have a culture of welcome and hospitality

  204. amongst us. That's the culture that we want to

  205. have as a church. We still want to be full of

  206. grace. We still want to love people. We want

  207. people to know the grace of God through our acts

  208. of grace to others. We still want to be Bible

  209. -based and open to the Spirit. It's so important.

  210. We're rooted in the Scripture. We're open to

  211. the power of the Spirit. That's a value. culture

  212. that we want to have. That's the how we want

  213. to do. We want to be deeply rooted in prayer.

  214. If we're not, we lose our way. We want to be

  215. deeply rooted in prayer. But we also want to

  216. be good stewards of all the resources that God

  217. gives us. We want to reach for excellence, not

  218. perfection, because that's hard work, but excellence.

  219. We want to do things well, because it glorifies

  220. God. That's what we try and do. It's why we try

  221. and do things well, because it glorifies God.

  222. We believe in good and godly, servant -hearted

  223. leadership across the church. There are so many

  224. leaders in the church that are good -hearted,

  225. spirit -filled, servant -hearted leaders that

  226. exhibit a confident humility. And we want to

  227. see that in the church. It's the how we want

  228. to do things, the culture we want to have. We

  229. believe we're just a battalion in God's army.

  230. It's not all about jubilee and fardom. That was

  231. a prophetic word right at the beginning of the

  232. church that I think Steve, I can't remember,

  233. that we're Italian joining the army but changing

  234. the course of the battle. That was God's call

  235. on us 20 years ago when we started Jubilee. And

  236. so we want to honour and work in partnership

  237. with other churches. There's a conviction that

  238. we have. Partnership is important with our commission

  239. family. See the fruit of the Spirit amongst us,

  240. don't we? That's what we're seeing as Jesus'

  241. Spirit works in us as we go for the practicing

  242. the way. It's the fruit of the Spirit that we

  243. want to see evidence. That's how people see Jesus.

  244. They see us full of love and joy and peace and

  245. kindness and goodness and all the other fruit.

  246. And as we encounter Jesus, we become more like

  247. him. And when we do as he did, it's the fruit

  248. of the Spirit that is evidence to the town. And

  249. it's what is going to call people towards Jesus.

  250. Amen? And we want to have fun doing it. That's

  251. part of our culture. I mean, what's the alternative?

  252. It's miserable. We'd be miserable doing it. No?

  253. We want to have fun doing it. The Spirit's love

  254. joy. That's the first one. Second one. Love,

  255. first one. But we want to have fun doing it.

  256. I love talking to those who come into the church

  257. and they've been around a little while, especially

  258. if they've been in leadership in the church in

  259. other places. We had Tim and Emma around the

  260. other week and asked, what do they notice about

  261. Jubilee? And Emma said something like, in Jubilee,

  262. people get involved. I thought, yeah, that's

  263. really cool. We want to get involved, don't we,

  264. in culture? Tim said, you take Jesus and the

  265. gospel really seriously, but you don't take yourselves

  266. too seriously. And I thought, yeah, that's the

  267. culture. We want to have fun whilst we're doing

  268. it. So what are we going to do? That's what we

  269. were wanting to hear. Well, I'm wanting to tell

  270. you. And you're wanting to hear. And I thought

  271. the way to try and communicate this is through

  272. our five G's that we have. We have these five

  273. G's that come out of the Great Command and the

  274. Great Commission to glorify, give, go, gather

  275. and grow. We exist to go and share the good news,

  276. to gather people where they can belong, to gather,

  277. to grow believers into world -changing disciples,

  278. to give ourselves in the service of others in

  279. ministry and to glorify God in worship and joy

  280. and forever. This is what we do. This is why

  281. we exist. That's been there for years. It continues.

  282. And I thought, let's use that as a structure

  283. to say some of the things that are happening.

  284. A lot of the things we do straddle, different

  285. ones of those. You can swap me. Can you hear

  286. me now? Thank you. Thank you. Shall we give him

  287. a clap? There's some people who serve, okay,

  288. and when they get it right, nobody notices. When

  289. things go wrong, everybody notices, and it's

  290. a hard thing. So well done, Ian, and PA team.

  291. Let's give him another clap. A little booklet

  292. that we've got here says our five Gs for those

  293. who have forgotten them or might want to remind

  294. themselves on them. Because many of the ministries

  295. we've got sort of cross over different ones of

  296. those Gs. But I think they help us give a little

  297. bit of an idea of where we're going. And I can

  298. just sort of unpack it a little bit. So our vision

  299. is to go. That's one of our visions, to go and

  300. share the good news. to go and share the good

  301. news of Jesus Christ with thousands of residents

  302. in our area and have fun doing it. We want to

  303. empower many to go across the UK and the nations

  304. with the compassion and love of Jesus. That's

  305. part of our vision as a church. And do you know

  306. what we are doing that? I looked up on the database,

  307. the den, there's 137 kids on the register for

  308. the den. Average about 40 each week. Two thirds

  309. of them aren't the church kids. These are kids,

  310. week on, week out, who are hearing the good news

  311. of Jesus. Evane, Hayley, Nikki, Stone, Janet,

  312. Lindy, Michelle, all the young leaders that make

  313. it happen do a phenomenal job each Friday. Every

  314. Friday, we're going and sharing the good news

  315. of Jesus. Friday Youth, we've got 111 on our

  316. database, although I think that brings in all

  317. the Vineyard Church kids as well. But there's

  318. probably about, oh, look, there's an average

  319. of 30 each Friday of young people coming together

  320. to hear about Jesus. Two -thirds of those aren't

  321. church kids, but another generation coming to

  322. hear the good news of Jesus. Sarah, Toby, Steph,

  323. Tom, Anna, Jazz, Sam. Great team leading our

  324. next generation into understanding who Jesus

  325. is. Phenomenal things are happening. Refresh

  326. Cafe. There's 38 now people who are regularly

  327. coming to the Refresh Cafe. Ifean has done a

  328. fabulous job with her team. Hayley, Lorna, Locke,

  329. Carrie, Claire, Leslie, Io, Joe, Sarah. Wonderful

  330. team of people caring for mums, dads and their

  331. little ones and sharing the good news of Jesus.

  332. Big news, Rebecca is now picking up, championing,

  333. leading the Refresh Cafe. Where is Rebecca? There

  334. she is. Matt and Rebecca are superstars. They

  335. are people who do share the good news of Jesus

  336. with their friends, their neighbours, their neighbourhoods.

  337. And I'm just thrilled that Rebecca has picked

  338. that up. She said to me, do you know, we've been

  339. using this book of resources, the little message

  340. that's brought each week. But I think I'm going

  341. to write them myself. I'm going to write it on

  342. the fruit of the Spirit. And I thought, yeah,

  343. go for it. Is that still the case? Perhaps I

  344. shouldn't have said that. The book farmers are

  345. good as well. We are preaching the good news

  346. of Jesus. Nathan's got a light party coming up

  347. in the autumn. with the team who do that, impact

  348. the light breaking into the darkness. I love

  349. that Anna is still involved with the Lantern

  350. Festival, where we robbed Halloween from the

  351. town and turned it into a festival of light.

  352. I mean, that was a major breakthrough in our

  353. town. No longer a focus on Halloween, a focus

  354. on the festival of light. It was our Anna who

  355. sorted that out. We're doing wonderful things

  356. to share the good news of Jesus into our town.

  357. And this term, new things are starting. The Growing

  358. Hope Clinic is a major advance in this town in

  359. terms of the kingdom of light taking over the

  360. kingdom of darkness. Building on Luminate that

  361. Laura championed, who is a superstar. She's probably

  362. out there now leading it. Sofa with Alison, then

  363. followed up from that, when dreams change. I

  364. mean, these are major programs helping families

  365. with additional needs. And now we have a clinic

  366. offering free professional services. I mean,

  367. isn't that just a major thing? When I talk to

  368. the town council, when I talk to people, they

  369. just are amazed that a church is involved with

  370. doing something like that. I am thrilled that

  371. that is happening. So well done, Rick and Laura,

  372. the trustees, Laura and Esther, Sue and Jim,

  373. I think, and Paul Bryce from Grace Church. Well

  374. done, Nikki, for taking it on. This is a major

  375. kingdom -advancing opportunity to share the love

  376. of God with people who so need those sorts of

  377. services. What a wonderful thing that is happening.

  378. We're still wanting to get the Transforming Lives

  379. for Good into this school. Sarah and I nearly

  380. got over the line with the old head teacher.

  381. She said, oh no, this is so good, so exciting.

  382. We need to get a lot of our senior team down

  383. to Wading Christian Centre to talk about how

  384. to mentor and how to do the counselling and therapeutic

  385. work and stuff with young people who so desperately

  386. need it. Unfortunately, there's a new head now.

  387. Her EA has said, though, we're going to get a

  388. meeting together with you. So keep praying. We

  389. want to see that breakthrough. It would be wonderful

  390. to see that way of going out with the good news

  391. of Jesus. And it's not just the UK, the South

  392. African trip. I tell you, it's going to impact

  393. 22 of us in a big way, but impact the whole of

  394. the church in a big way. Going to share the good

  395. news, but also learning as we do that. We'll

  396. say more about that next week. But there's other

  397. things happening this term as well. We've got

  398. a new website that is being worked on. It's halfway

  399. there. We've got to take a few more photos, which

  400. will happen in these next few weeks, but we'll

  401. warn you and you don't have to be in it if you

  402. don't want to and we'll say when it is so that

  403. you can get your hair right and all that sort

  404. of stuff. But we'd quite like some photos of

  405. people looking really unprepared as well and

  406. just like normal so that it reflects what normal

  407. life is. Social media, I'm working with Ben,

  408. doing some good work on that. We're going to

  409. see that happen because we want to communicate

  410. better into our town through this term. And that's

  411. going to be a major advance for us as we go through

  412. that. We've got Christmas. I tell you what, it's

  413. going to be the best Christmas we've had where

  414. we're going to share the good news with Jesus.

  415. I've even got animals this time. We've got a

  416. nativity with real animals. happening as part

  417. of our Christmas theme. We'll have our usual

  418. nativity service. We'll have our carol services

  419. where we want to launch what's happening at Wade

  420. and Christian Centre in the new pods that I'll

  421. say something about in a minute. Christmas in

  422. Jubilee is going to be significant. We're going

  423. to be reaching more people with the love and

  424. the message of Jesus. But do you know what? This

  425. term, we also are gathering churches together

  426. for the biggest... evangelistic event there's

  427. been in Farnham in the 35 years I've lived here.

  428. I mean, we've got Nicky Gumbel coming to the

  429. carol service in Gostry Meadows and it's a significant

  430. thing to happen. I mean, Nicky Gumbel is probably

  431. one of the most significant evangelists of our

  432. era. He's, you know, there's 24 million people

  433. have gone through Alpha now. It's in 110 countries.

  434. I mean, just think about that a minute. I think

  435. it's like a third of the country have brand recognition

  436. with Alpha. I mean, these are significant things.

  437. And Nicky Gumbel wants to come to Farnham because

  438. he hears that churches actually get on with each

  439. other here. And he wants to do his Christmas

  440. carol service here in Farnham. I mean, this is

  441. a major, major thing. that is happening in Farnham.

  442. And we want to build up towards that. We want

  443. to see it happening in a significant way. There's

  444. going to be a prayer meeting on the 9th of November.

  445. There's going to be an app that we can pray through

  446. every street in the town in the run -up to it.

  447. There's going to be some significant things happening.

  448. But I have to say, there's a major thing that's

  449. happening through the autumn as we're seeking

  450. to share the good news of Jesus. want us to be

  451. praying for it, being involved with it. It is

  452. a tremendous thing that is going to be happening.

  453. So we are going. But it's not all just about

  454. going. We also want to continue to gather. We

  455. want to gather and see Jubilee as a place, a

  456. loving community where everyone can belong, a

  457. vibrant, healthy community, gathering in socioeconomic

  458. groups and many nationalities. A healing community

  459. where everyone can find love, acceptance, hope,

  460. forgiveness, guidance, encouragement, purpose.

  461. What a vision, eh? To see. We want to gather

  462. people. Can I just honour the New Day team? I

  463. wasn't when they came back. Sarah, you did a

  464. fabulous thing with the New Day. I know young

  465. people have got lots of energy. Should we just

  466. say that? And lots of, you know, opportunity

  467. for mischiefness and things like that. But do

  468. you know what? The fact that Sarah, Toby, Steph,

  469. Tom, Theo, Catherine, Paula, Cheryl, set up with

  470. Rafi as well, gave up a week's work to serve

  471. 28 of our young people at a festival like that

  472. is phenomenal. So well done. Let's give them

  473. a clap. Across the board in Jubilee, there are

  474. people who've got faith and are doing things

  475. that are seeing the kingdom of light advance

  476. into the kingdom of darkness. And I think that

  477. is a big part of it. There's a generation emerging

  478. amongst us that is going to take the kingdom

  479. of light into the kingdom of darkness. No doubt

  480. about that. There's other ways we gather, though,

  481. as well. The men are getting together. for all

  482. sorts of things, breakfast, also some dinners

  483. as well. Well done, Kenny and Matt and all the

  484. team for that. Our growth groups are continuing

  485. through the autumn. That's the place where we

  486. feel we belong, where we feel we can be known,

  487. where we feel we can care for one another and

  488. really encourage you to get involved with a growth

  489. group. If you're not involved with a growth group,

  490. there's the Waving Christian Centre group that

  491. anybody is welcome to. every Wednesday through

  492. the programs that we'll be running you. But I'd

  493. really encourage you to do that. We need some

  494. more hosts for the next two modules of Practicing

  495. the Way. So if you are interested and open to

  496. giving your home up for four evenings, then talk

  497. to Rick because we'd love to see some more of

  498. those happening just to give more opportunities

  499. for people to go into that. So all of that is

  500. continuing about gathering. as a community. But

  501. this term, we want to do some other things as

  502. well, some other new things. So this term, we

  503. want to also have a particular focus on our welcome

  504. and our hospitality and how we help people become

  505. part of the church. It's a big project. We actually

  506. need a champion to make it happen. God might

  507. be calling one of you right now. I'm not going

  508. to do a finger or anything like that or look

  509. at anybody. We want somebody who's able to say,

  510. do you know what, and own, welcoming people,

  511. getting to know people, helping them, feel that

  512. they can be part of a group, helping them, helping

  513. us in our communications with them. If somebody

  514. fancies taking that on, come and talk to Rick

  515. or I. It was great just to host a dinner, to

  516. share, to talk with them. On the Wednesday, we

  517. had a wonderful retreat with just the more evangelical.

  518. Church leaders are able to bring people together

  519. and talk about how, as churches, we can portray

  520. what significant good the churches are doing

  521. in the town. The websites that I mentioned last

  522. week, these are significant things that are happening

  523. within our town that communicate what is happening

  524. across the town. Because we believe, don't we,

  525. Psalm 133, that how good and pleasant it is when

  526. God's people live in unity. For there the Lord

  527. bestows blessing, it says, even life evermore.

  528. So there's lots of complications, lots of things

  529. we need to navigate. But I have a conviction

  530. that as the churches come together, God's blessing

  531. comes on Farnham and comes on us as we seek to

  532. do that. Through the autumn, there's going to

  533. be something called Love in Action, which is

  534. like an exhibition. Come celebration, 6th of

  535. November, celebrating all that the churches do

  536. through food bank, debt advice, the bereavement

  537. care, schools work, all the different things

  538. that we do. And do you know what? I'd encourage

  539. you to get along because what the church does

  540. in the town collectively is phenomenal and is

  541. powerful witness to our town. So we want to gather

  542. people. In Jubilee, we gather people in the town

  543. because God's blessing is coming on the town

  544. as a result of that, I believe. But we gather,

  545. we grow, we go. We also want to grow. I think

  546. each of us in the church have got to keep in

  547. mind and be intentional about our own spiritual

  548. journey. Amen? I really think it's important.

  549. The hand up at the end. You can't read that.

  550. Oh, no, I can't read that. I'll read it to you.

  551. I can give you one of these books. It actually

  552. says we want to see a jubilee go into authentic,

  553. world -changing disciples of Jesus. We want to

  554. see children, young people, and adults develop

  555. into spiritual maturity, living out purposeful

  556. lives. We want to see believers baptized and

  557. full of God's Spirit with a desire to apply biblical

  558. truth to real life and relationships. That was

  559. our statement. We want to grow. We want to keep

  560. growing as a people. Individuals. Practicing

  561. the way has been so powerful, I think, for those

  562. who've really engaged with it and been intentional

  563. about it. This term we're looking at scripture.

  564. Powerful. Then we're going to look at community.

  565. They're the two modules for this term. Really

  566. encourage you to engage with it. If you haven't

  567. already, it doesn't matter. Don't feel bad. Just

  568. see how you can engage with it. The youth on

  569. Wednesdays are doing it as well. I mean, it's

  570. phenomenal that we've got young people who are

  571. wanting to learn about how to be followers of

  572. Jesus, apprentices of Jesus, wanting to grow

  573. in the faith. I mean, it is significant what

  574. is happening. And I want us to be praying for

  575. it because it's important as we do that. Each

  576. week we have in sunbeams, blaze and illuminate,

  577. kids being taught truth, taught about how to

  578. pray, taught about how to worship. All ages,

  579. we want to see growing and becoming apprentices

  580. of Jesus. I think we really have a conviction

  581. that it is all ages who enter into this. We're

  582. going to say more about that next week. Because

  583. actually, it is together that we are growing

  584. and finding Jesus. We need more help in Blaze,

  585. just as a little sideline. If you want to get

  586. involved with the kids' work, it will bless you.

  587. Talk to her in vain. She would love to have just

  588. a few more up in blaze, able to serve the young

  589. people or the kids that we have on a Sunday.

  590. What our kids' teams do is a phenomenal thing.

  591. I can't give a list because there's too many.

  592. Each Sunday, it's phenomenal what our kids' works

  593. do. And it's because we want to see all ages

  594. growing, all ages becoming apprentices of Jesus,

  595. all ages becoming more like Jesus. We don't just

  596. entertain the kids. We want to train them in

  597. the way that they should go so that they can

  598. make an impact into the world. And that happens

  599. through Jabble, with the pre -teen girls, all

  600. sorts of ways we see people and the next generation

  601. grow. It's great to see Oakley going off to YWAM,

  602. isn't it? Wherever he is. There he is. No, it's

  603. not him. That's his brother who's really keen

  604. he's going off to YWAM. Do you believe we want

  605. to go, we want to gather, we want to grow? Don't

  606. we? We do. We want to give ourselves in the service

  607. to others as well. We want to be a people who

  608. are serving. Big shout out to the setup team,

  609. PA team. We need more on the PA team. It's why

  610. we do safeguarding training. So blessed by Kenny

  611. and Cheryl. Kenny said, is there anything I can

  612. do to help? Can I help you with the Wade and

  613. Christian Center? Because he knew that I rotted

  614. the drains. And he said, what can I do to help?

  615. Can I take all that off you? Joy. The trustees

  616. do so much behind the scenes. If you could see

  617. the number of policies that Ian has revised and

  618. rewritten that we are now implementing, it is

  619. phenomenal. It all has to be there. It all has

  620. to be done. Most people don't even know it's

  621. all there, but it's really important to keep

  622. us safe, to keep us in line with things that

  623. we need to be in line with. Phenomenal work has

  624. happened behind the scenes. So a big shout out

  625. to Ian, who's the chair of trustees, and our

  626. trustees. I mean, they do a phenomenal thing

  627. for us behind the scenes and give themselves

  628. in the service of the church. And I want to just

  629. say that they have done phenomenal work in our

  630. building project. We met the architect on Friday.

  631. I still think we're going to get our pods up

  632. by Christmas at Wade and Christian Centre. Oh,

  633. Ian is now despairing. Can you pray with me for

  634. Ian and Neil who are doing most of the donkey

  635. work? But do you know what? They are going to

  636. make such a difference into that community. so

  637. be such an enabling tool for us. Phenomenal amount

  638. of work has gone on, but I want to see for our

  639. Christmas events those up and running. So can

  640. you pray that we get the right builder, that

  641. they're able to fit it in their diaries? Because

  642. this is a major advance for us as a church. Major

  643. things are happening as we're looking to serve

  644. our community and serve our town. Are you hanging

  645. on in there? Is this just giving you an idea

  646. of all the things that are going on? Because

  647. all sorts of things happen that you're not even

  648. aware of, really. In a couple of weeks, Rick's

  649. presenting a lot of his PhD studies to all of

  650. our commission leaders, because it's on commission

  651. and how to help churches grow spiritually. It's

  652. just a joy to see that beginning to impact beyond

  653. us. I'm finding more church leaders coming and

  654. saying, look, can I just talk about this with

  655. you? And so I'm spending more time trying to

  656. help other church leaders as well. There's lots

  657. of things happening where we give of ourselves

  658. in the service of others that I think is part

  659. of God's calling upon us. Next week, we want

  660. to share a bit more about our all -age serving

  661. vision. The team went to the all -age worship

  662. conference and got so inspired about how actually

  663. we want to see kids, young people involved in

  664. serving in different ways. We've always had that

  665. as a value. That's why the young people are involved

  666. with the den, why they're involved in kids' work,

  667. involved in all sorts of ways, things that we're

  668. doing. But we want to expand that. We've got

  669. a vision to see all ages learning how to be apprentices,

  670. how to be serving in different ways in the church.

  671. Going to be so excited sharing about that next

  672. week because we want to see serving as part of

  673. our culture. Amen? And we do all of this to glorify

  674. God. That's what we are here for. We want to

  675. glorify God in all of this. Our Sundays bring

  676. all this together as a wonderful celebration.

  677. Can I just honor Chrissy and the worship leaders?

  678. They, behind the scenes... I mean, there's two

  679. meetings she's had this week, I know, with the

  680. teams, leaders and the worship teams, consistently

  681. preparing, learning, keeping their hearts right.

  682. Honestly, well done, Chrissie. Let's give her

  683. a clap. She's going to really tell me off now

  684. and say, look, there's lots of leaders. And there

  685. are lots of leaders out there, and there's lots

  686. of team, lots of people, musicians. Honestly,

  687. you serve us so well, and we're so grateful to

  688. that each Sunday, to our preachers we're so grateful

  689. for. We want on these Sundays to be a place where

  690. we are celebrating all of God's goodness to us.

  691. We say it, we want to see our church services

  692. and gatherings full of thankful, vibrant, joyful

  693. prayer and worship and passionate prayer that

  694. glorifies Heavenly Father. who we want to reflect

  695. Jesus and glorify God. Isn't that what we want?

  696. It is, isn't it? That's what we want to do. It's

  697. why we have our worship nights at the end of

  698. our Practicing the Way sessions. There's another

  699. exciting thing happening. Blaze Band is mutating

  700. into Ignite. And so this term, Nathan and the

  701. team are going to be taking some of our young

  702. people and children to train them in how to worship.

  703. And they're going to be leading us as we go into

  704. some of these next services as we get towards

  705. Christmas. A significant thing to see our young

  706. people learning how to worship because we want

  707. to glorify God in that. Amen? Just a taster of

  708. the things that are happening. But let me conclude

  709. with this. That's the what of the term, but let's

  710. conclude with this. You know, there's lots happening.

  711. There's a phenomenally exciting program. that's

  712. been put together by all sorts of people. There's

  713. buildings being erected, new systems, better

  714. communications being put in place, a greater

  715. focus on welcome, integration, greater focus

  716. on all ages involved and serving. But it's all

  717. about people, impacting people with the kingdom

  718. of heaven and the kingdom of light. It's about

  719. the lady who came to refresh one week after feeling

  720. lonely and stressed out all week and said, you

  721. know what, there's something about this place

  722. that makes me just feel I've got peace. It's

  723. like, what's the peace that's in this place?

  724. It's about people. It's about the dad who came

  725. to the den to register his kid and Hayley noticed

  726. there was another kid in the car and asked about

  727. this other kid in the car and the dad said, there's...

  728. He wouldn't want him. He's got involved with

  729. lots of different things, but he's got additional

  730. needs and can't cope, and nobody can cope with

  731. him. And he said, oh, we've got a ministry to

  732. people with additional needs. Why don't you just

  733. bring him in, see if he can come in? He loves

  734. it. First place he's found that he can get a

  735. dad just was in tears. First place I found that

  736. would take him. It's about the pre -teen girls

  737. who are going through so much at that age. So

  738. many changes happening. Finding a place at Jabal

  739. where they just feel safe. They can be honest.

  740. Where they're encouraged. It's about people.

  741. All that we're doing, it's all about impacting

  742. people, isn't it? It's when young people come

  743. to the youth group. who feel they don't fit somewhere

  744. else, but they find a place where they can belong.

  745. Do you know what? That is life -changing. There's

  746. a new generation rising who need to know Jesus.

  747. It's in all sorts of ways, isn't it? It's when

  748. the men get together with breakfast and Kenny

  749. shares the reality of life, or one of the other

  750. guys do. There's just an honesty and an authenticity

  751. about how life's hard sometimes. But do you know

  752. what? They are moments where men can be changed,

  753. transformed. It's in our growth groups when it's

  754. about people, isn't it? When I hear little stories

  755. of somebody who's in need, getting fed for the

  756. next few weeks, or having a baby and being fed.

  757. The care that there is for people in a group.

  758. Just a concern for one another. It's about people,

  759. isn't it? That's what it's all about. It's all

  760. about people who don't know Jesus as well. Coming

  761. to find a saviour. I believe this Christmas there's

  762. more people are going to meet the person who

  763. Christmas is about than we've seen ever in 20

  764. years of Jubilee. And I'm believing that there

  765. is going to be more people saved. The Alpha in

  766. January will be bigger than we've ever seen because

  767. God's kingdom is advancing. And if we embrace

  768. this, people are going to be impacted. People

  769. are going to find purpose. People are going to

  770. find eternal life. It's about people. All that

  771. we do is about people. Meeting Jesus. Being transformed

  772. by Jesus. Becoming like Jesus. Beginning to do

  773. what Jesus did. And do you know what? The world

  774. is going to be changed as a result. Big statement.

  775. We can't change the whole world, our little group,

  776. but we can change Barnum. Jesus had 12 and 70,

  777. 120, we've got back to 120. He changed the world

  778. with those. disciples, as we are apprentices

  779. to Jesus and as we pursue these things through

  780. this autumn, do you know what? We are going to

  781. change the world. Do you believe it? I believe

  782. it because all authority is given to Jesus and

  783. he said he's going to be with us as we do it.

  784. So please don't count yourself out. Please don't

  785. be robbed. Please see yourselves as part of the

  786. kingdom of heaven that's advancing. Amen? I want

  787. to show you a video that Haley showed me this

  788. week that is going to make you smile. Now I've

  789. said it, I really hope it does. But I don't want

  790. you to be just distracted by the smile. I want

  791. you to watch, listen to it. It's a worship song

  792. that in a way that you think, do you know what?

  793. Everybody's in, in the kingdom of God. Whether

  794. you're a child, a young person, especially young

  795. people, you're definitely in. Whether you're

  796. in your 20s and 30s and dealing with all the

  797. pressure you have in your 20s and 30s and lack

  798. of sleep. Whether you're in your 40s and 50s.

  799. All the pressures that you've got in your 40s

  800. and 50s. Or in your 60s and 70s, and that's when

  801. your pressure really is. Because everything stops

  802. working properly. Whoever you are, you're God's

  803. handiwork this autumn. And he's got things for

  804. you to do. And we'd love to help you find your

  805. place to do them. Amen? Because Jesus came and

  806. he offered us the most wonderful thing. He gave

  807. us himself. And he said at that last supper,

  808. this is my body that's given for you. Every time

  809. you break it, remember that. This is my blood

  810. that's shed for you. Each one of you. Because

  811. you're his handiwork. You're... You've got jobs

  812. to do for him. Things to serve him in. And he

  813. gave everything for you that you can be his body

  814. at this time in Farnham. So I want us to listen

  815. to this song. Nathan's going to come up with

  816. the band.
