(BONUS EPISODE) September 14, 2025 - Sunday Evening Bible Study with Larry Walker - Jesus Fortells His Death and Resurrection - Mark 9:31

He said to them, the Son of Man is being betrayed

into the hands of men, and they will kill him.

And after he is killed, he will rise the third

day. But they did not understand this saying,

and were afraid to ask him. And then let's turn

our attention. Well, I can read the whole thing,

verses 33 to 37. also a mark. It says, Denny

came to Capernaum. When he was in the house,

he asked them, What was it you were disputing

among yourselves on the road? But they kept silent,

for on the road they had disputed among themselves

who should be the greatest. And he sat down,

called the twelve, and said to them, If anyone

desires to be first, he shall be last of all.

servant of all. Then he took a little child and

said in the midst of them, when he had taken

him in his arms, he said to them, whoever receives

one of these little children in my name, receives

me. And whoever receives me, receives not me,

but him who sent me. That's right. Now let me

read this out of John because if you look, In

Matthew's account, Matthew 18 .1, it reads, at

that time the disciples came to Jesus saying,

who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

If you read that and then you compare that with

Mark, it seems like Jesus asked them. He asked

them what they were disputing about. And in Matthew,

Jesus said, who then is the greatest in the kingdom

of heaven? At that time, disciples came to Jesus

saying. So they asked Jesus who is the greatest

in the kingdom. But if we read Mark, it seems

like that Jesus is asking them, what were you

discussing? So let me read this. I thought this

was real good. It says, now this takes all three

of the gospels and puts them in order. It says,

at that time disciples came to Jesus when he

was in the house, saying, Who then is the greatest

in the kingdom of heaven? Then Jesus asked them,

What was it you disputed among yourselves on

the road? But they kept silent, for on the road

they had disputed among themselves who would

be the greatest. And he sat down, called the

twelve, and said to them, If anyone desires to

be first, He shall be the last of all and servant

of all. Then he, perceiving the thoughts in their

hearts, took a little child and set him by him

in the midst of them. And when he had taken him

in his arms, he said then, Assuredly, I say to

you, unless you are converted and becoming a

little child, you will by no means enter the

kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles

himself as this little child, child is the greatest

in the kingdom of heaven whoever receives one

little child like this in my name receives me

and whoever sees me receives not me but him who

sent me for he who is least among you all will

be great yeah I thought that was I thought that

was worth putting all them together because we

could see the we could see the difference. So

last week, or the last time we met, we finished

up where the disciples couldn't heal this boy

and they'd come to Jesus and they'd ask him why.

And he said it was because of your lack of prayer

and fasting. So as we come here, we pick up with

them leaving, Caesarea Philippi. So we pick up

that Jesus and his disciples are again traveling.

And Luke says in 9 .43, they were all amazed

at the majesty of God, but while everyone marveled

at all the things which Jesus did. That's what

Luke says. So that's Luke's account as they leave

Caesarea Philippi. Now if you remember on the

map, Caesarea Philippi, and I think I'll mention

this again, is about 40 miles up further past

Galilee from Perna. So Jesus is in that area,

which is a Gentile area, and so he's leaving

there and he's starting his downward track toward...

Jerusalem for the last time. Luke's point is

they continued to be marveled not just this one

time by all his actions, but not necessarily

at Jesus, but his actions. They were not marveling

at the Creator, but at the creation of miracles.

That's what the crowds were doing when they left

Caesarea Philippi. And in verse 30, it says they

went from there. There was a region of Caesarea

Philippi near the Mount of Transfiguration. Remember,

right prior to our last lesson, that's where

we looked at the Mount of Transfiguration. As

they traveled from there, they passed through

Galilee. They were traveling south to Jerusalem.

These are... towns that they are on the way.

And I believe Peter, as he looks back, and I

believe he, as he told these stories, he was

relating what he remembered to Mark. If you remember.

A lot of influence. Because Mark never actually,

he may have seen the Lord, and I think he did.

because you remember in the very beginning of

our study when the disciples went out with Jesus

and Judas had betrayed him that one of the guards

grabbed the cloak of someone there and said that

he ran home unclothed and most scholars believe

that was Mark that was traveling because he had

kind of went out late And he was following these

disciples, especially Peter, as they went out

with Jesus. So he gets scared and he runs and

somebody only grabs his cloak and he comes off

of him. But as far as any formal teaching or

anything like that, I don't think he was a pretty

young fellow at the time too. Yeah, even though

that had a falling out one time, yeah. That happens.

Yeah, it does. I believe to Peter as he looks

back to these events, it is now more important

because this is the last time they were there.

So Peter's recollecting as they travel, Peter's

recollecting these last events, these last things

that Jesus would have said to him that really

stuck out in his mind. The area of Galilee was

a major place where not only Jesus ministered,

but Peter could recall intimate times with Jesus

and Peter's close friends. So I think they could

have been mentioned for this reason as well.

Looking back, Peter would remember the good times,

like when you go to a special place and you look

back, and you remember things. Even pictures.

You know, that's why we take a lot of pictures.

Dave is one of the biggest I've ever seen it

taking a lot of pictures. And you can look back,

we've looked back through some Warner's old pictures.

And we can look back and remember things that

had happened. And I thought this was a good insight

as Jesus is transitioning. from his public ministry

to his private disciples' ministry. This came

out of our yellow book, if you remember that

yellow book that we had. I still have that book.

Jesus' focus has changed from let me go into

the next towns that I may preach there, that

was in Mark 1 .38, to he did not want anyone

to know it. for he taught his disciples. This

is in Mark 9, 30 to 31. So it shows his public

ministry, and then his changing his focus to

teaching his disciples. We sense the determination

as he labors to correct the 12's flawed understanding

of his mission. Time is running out, and his

disciples... Hard heads haven't softened, even

before the greatest teacher who ever lived. For

the second time, Jesus explains the highlights

of what will happen to him. The disciples still

can't fit the Son of Man together with killed.

connect the dots, so to speak, as Jesus is going

to be sacrificed. Because their thinking is still

that they're headed to Jerusalem to be king.

And that's probably where this discussion about

who is the greatest comes up. And also, we're

not going to look into that tonight, but that

could be looking back at Peter James and John

on the Mount of Transfiguration thinking how

special they were compared to the other disciples.

And I'll mention this again, that this journey

from Caesarea Philippi to Capernaum where Jesus

asked them, what were you discussing on the way,

would probably take two to three days. Heavy

walking, not stopping, would have took 12 hours.

You figure the terrain and eating and sleeping

and things like that, scholars think it would

have took two to three days. So this journey

that they're on is a two to three day journey

before Jesus gets to Caesarea Philippi where

he talks to them about who is the greatest. So

there's been many conversations on that road

with Jesus. And I'm sure the other disciples

have had many conversations amongst themselves.

You know, and they realize, you know, we're going

to Jerusalem. It's almost a Passover. So they

know they're going to, they don't know it's going

to be the last time, but they know they're headed

to Jerusalem. And Jesus is telling them all these

things, and they're thinking, well, maybe this

is going to be the time when he's going to set

up this kingdom, when he's going to take over.

That's my thought. Who's going to be the greatest?

Yeah, who's going to be the greatest? Who's going

to sit on his right hand when we get there? What's

that? They're getting the seat warmed up. Yeah,

that's right. But ever since Peter had that serious

scolding when he tried to correct Jesus. Remember

that? Now they're afraid to ask him what it means.

Or perhaps they're afraid to ask because they

are gradually realizing what he means. And it

does not sound pretty. We're going to be talking

about some of those things. So in verse 30, as

they pass through Galilee, and he did not want

anyone to know. Galilee was a region, not a town.

Most scholars believe Jesus was traveling not

through the center of Galilee, but through the

edges of it, not to draw attention to himself.

Keep in mind, this is where 99 % of Jesus' ministry

was done. And now, he alone knows this is the

last time he will see it. Jesus had a lot of

memories there. He grew up and walked in Nazareth,

walked through Nazareth, through Capernaum. He

was baptized by John. He called his disciples

there. He's done a lot of miracles. He had lots

of friends, some amazing teachings. And the reason

I bring that up, I just want us to focus on the

good things that Jesus... of Jesus as minister.

We know he had a lot of disputes or confrontations

from the religious leaders and things like that.

But there's a lot of good that has happened there.

And we know there was difficulty as well. We

tend to forget the human side of Jesus. And some

scholars believe that as Jesus... again, tells

them about what will be happening. It's kind

of a reminder to Himself of the difficult days

that are coming ahead, not only to remind the

disciples and to prepare them, but for Himself

as well, to encourage Himself. Because Jesus

never, He never turned away from heading toward

the cross. Once he left, and it was somewhere

around four to six months before he ever got

there, he never once, we don't never ever see

him once say, well, let's go back up. When he

mentions these towns, these are gonna be the

last time that he mentions Capernaum and Galilee

until after the resurrection. Where it's interesting

that he does tell his disciples to go back to

and he will meet them there. The place where

he ministered at the very beginning. Like you

said, this is a short period of time, a three

-year period of time. So any of the events that

Jesus did was part of it. The disciples would

have that fresh in their mind. So how can you

come off of a mountain of transfiguration? and

then tell these guys, I'm going to the cross

to die. You don't think, I mean, even like he

turned to Peter and said, no, give behind me

Satan, because you just saw Christ in his warfication.

You know, I mean, you saw this and you heard

God's voice and this is the man that that happened

to, you know? And now he's like, okay, I'm going

to drew something that died. You know you're

not. We'll get behind me saying, you know, then

you get all pouty faced and shut up, you know,

for a long time. But I mean, it just didn't equal

up, but you know. Yeah. You know, he said, I'm

Christ, you know. I am the Christ. And then he

showed you his glorification as Christ. And then

he's like, now I'm going to die. That doesn't

drive at all. To Jesus, it does, because you're

right, he was focused and he knew that he was

going to the cross. And it was starting to soak

in these guys a little bit. I think your second

point, it was starting to soak in a little bit.

Because they kept saying, no, no, because they

still had time. No, no, no, now he's like...

He's heading this way. It's like, guys, he's

going to Jerusalem and this is not a good idea.

But he is dead settled going this way. And they're

thinking, they just didn't have a category for

a suffering Messiah. One that, because they'd

already said that he was a Messiah. I remember

Peter said that. You're the Christ. He made that

statement. I can see these disciples point of

view. Next time when we get together, we're going

to be talking about the upside down kingdom.

You've heard it said that the upside down kingdom.

And what it is, what that means, is everything

that Jesus taught is opposite of the way we think.

Opposite of the way we think. What true greatness

is that we're going to be talking about. Different

things, and we'll talk more about that when we

get there. But you're right. Jesus does not go

back there until after the resurrection. And

that is to meet with His disciples where His

ministry began. I think that's so cool. Meeting

His disciples in a familiar place. Places that

would spark their memory of their teachings.

Like pictures do for us. Yeah, all these places

in Galilee would be familiar places because that's

where Jesus spent 99 % of His... His time the

only time he only times that he went down to

Jerusalem Was for feast where it was prescribed

by man most 99 percent of the time he was in

the area of Caesarea In the area of Galilee.

Yeah now sometimes he sometimes he went up When

he wanted to get away remember that one journey

it probably took several months when he went

up to Tyra and Sidon and he came back around

into the Decapolis area, which was another Gentile

area on the other side of the Sea of Galilee.

But 99 % of the time Jesus spent in this area.

That's right. And they would remember the Holy

Spirit would bring these things back to their

memory. And I think that's what the Holy Spirit

did here to Peter because Peter could remember

these times. Of course he could because that's

what we're reading in scripture, the times that

he had. And the purpose was, in verse 31, Jesus

says, for he taught his disciples. Mark again

points out, His now focus is on the disciples'

teaching. He goes on to tell why the public or

crowds was not in on this teaching. He said to

them, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the

hands of men, and they will kill him. And after

he is killed, he will rise. the third day. See,

if you remember, He told His disciples not to

tell this to anybody, but to keep it to themselves.

He only taught this to the disciples. And we're

going to see how... Mark only gives like three

times when Jesus tells this, but this word teaching

in there... is a term that means it was a continual

thing. Something that he was driving, it's like

driving in the nail, you hit that nail over and

over and over again until eventually it reaches

its resting place. It's like Jesus is driving

this home. This is where we're going. This is

what's gonna happen, you know? R .C. Sproul's

idea on this, and I think it was... I think it

was good. The ESV version has a better grip on

what's going on here. And I believe it's worth

noting. Here it says, the ESV, the son of man

is going to be delivered into the hands of men.

The New King James version says, the son of man

is being betrayed into the hands of men. Is Jesus

going to be delivered, or is Jesus being betrayed?

Now if you look in the Greek, I don't know Greek,

so I have to take other people's that know Greek,

and it says like this, is being delivered? or

is delivered referring to a betrayal into the

hands of others. It is in the present tense,

and I don't understand present tense, but it's

in the present tense, but its meaning is prophetic.

So both are right. Jesus is being delivered as

they are speaking, but God himself as was the

plan all along. So he's been delivered. But in

the future, Jesus will be used to betray Jesus.

Who? Judas. Judas will be betrayed. So, and we

talked a little bit about this. God, it's hard

to get you, it was hard for me to grasp this.

God is delivering Jesus over. So that's not a

betrayal. Because this is an event. that was

agreed upon before the foundation of the world,

for the salvation of us. So it wasn't a betrayal

by God to Jesus because it was agreed. So he's

being delivered, but he will be betrayed by Judas.

So it's something that's in the present tense,

but it has a prophetic meaning. Well, you were

talking about the present tense where it says

he was delivered. We use the active voice a lot,

that he delivered this, whatever, but the present

tense means that he was the subject, he was delivered

himself. He was not delivering something else,

he was being delivered. The new King James says

is being betrayed and that's where R .C. Sproul

says I have a problem with that because he's

actually not being betrayed at that point because

it was in present tense. But he will be betrayed,

so the thing is, both can work there because

of the Greek. And the more I study and the more

I look, I see how so simple the English language

is. It's very, very simple compared to the Greek.

I'm glad I'm not a Greek. And that's why a lot

of you, like Luke and Kyle, both had to take

Greek where they could look and they can see

that. Because the English language is so simple

and sometimes it's not very clear. But if you

get into the Greek, sometimes it can mean just

something totally different. That's where Adam

suffers, you know. You're trying to take the

Greek and turn it into Zwaily stuff. Yeah, yeah,

Adam, you're talking about Adam. Wow, trying

to accurately place that into a language that

they don't even have the language in. Yeah, yeah.

What's red? What's, you know. Yeah, yeah. As

we know, this is the second time Jesus has told

them this in Mark. He waits till they have come

to the house in Capernaum. Remember, Jesus is

not ready for the public to hear these words.

It's by no coincidence that Jesus tells them

this at this time. As we read the story, as we've

read the story, we've seen that Jesus is teaching

on servitude and humility, okay? Because they're...

their focus is who is going to be the greatest.

And Jesus is giving an example, and He's a living

example of what true greatness is, and that's

giving of oneself. And we're going to be talking

about that more in detail. But that's what true

greatness is, you know, and today we struggle

with who is going to be the greatest. Who is

going to be the greatest? It's not enough just

to be great. but I want to be the greatest. We

all struggle with that sometimes. In this verse,

Jesus displays what it looks like. He is the

living example of one who is keen and yet willing

to die for his subjects. I think we mentioned

that in peace class toward the end when we were

talking about about these kings that would go

into battle with their people. Most of the time,

these kings would be killed in battle. And today,

the commander -in -chief is flying around in

outer space while the battle is going on. Jesus

was a perfect example in that day of one willing

to go into battle and die for his subjects. He

knows what's coming and he marches toward the

cross. And what sparks this whole debate is a

dispute on the road that I believe Jesus overhears

as they are traveling to Capernaum. No doubt

in this two to three day journey they have talked

about a lot of different things. They know right

well what Jesus is talking about when you ask

them. What are you disputing about? Who is the

greatest? But before he tells them the way to

true greatness He tells them again what a truly

great person person's Actions are What it looks

like the son of man is being betrayed into the

hands of men And they will kill him and after

he is killed he will rise the third day Jesus

is that example, and he's telling them that.

Mark then tells us they didn't understand. But

they did not understand this saying. If we read

in Luke 9 .45, I think that opens up the whole

thing, why they couldn't understand what Jesus

was saying. You might want to turn to that. That's

a 945B. But they didn't understand this statement?

Yeah, they didn't understand what Jesus was saying

when He's saying, I'm going to go to Jerusalem,

I'm going to suffer, I'm going to die, and I'm

going to rise the third day. It says it was concealed

from them so that they would not receive it,

and they were afraid to ask about the statement.

It was hidden from them. So the Holy Spirit hid

that tip or understanding from them? I think

so. It wasn't time. This seems this is something

that the Spirit did not allow them to understand.

But the Spirit indwelled them. This teaching

would be called back to their memory later as

God's plan and that Jesus was not a victim of

circumstances. You know, it's the same thing

in our lives. Before we come to salvation, we

can hear the gospel. I know, I went to that little

building down there, Little Youth Chapel. Probably

a hundred times or more. And I've heard preachers

get up and proclaim the gospel. Now, it was a

Pentecostal hole in this church. But they did

present the gospel. And I never understood, I

never came to that place to where it really touched

my heart. Until the Holy Spirit revealed it to

me. And it was probably the same thing that they

had been saying the whole time. And it's just

like these disciples, they hear it and Jesus

is pounding it. They hear it, they hear it, but

the Spirit is just not revealing to them. And

why? But it's part of the grand plan. And their

actions after the resurrection and the Holy Spirit's

indwelling demonstrated this, that they did understand

later. This verse indicates it was a process

for them. and not a concept that they could understand

instantly. This teaching was not a once and done

thing. In Mark 9 .31, for he was teaching his

disciples, which in the Greek is an ongoing thing.

Every opportunity Jesus got, he spoke of his

impending sacrifice. Another time in Luke. 1831

-34, it says, Then he brought the twelve near

and said to them, Now we are going up to Jerusalem,

and all things that are written by the prophets

concerning the Son of Man will be fulfilled.

This is my thought, although it was said to his

disciples, it was a reminder to Jesus as well.

Verse 32, for he will be handed over to the Gentiles

and will be mocked, insulted and spat upon. And

they will beat him with a whip and put him to

death. And on the third day he will rise again.

They understood none of these things. This statement

was hidden from them. They did not know what

was being said. So this was a teaching that was

constantly Every opportunity that Jesus got,

He would tell them this. He would speak to them.

So why would it be concealed or hid from them?

That was my thought. Why would it be concealed

or hid? Lord, Christ limited Himself. He was

God and knew the absolute plan, but then He limited

Himself as an absolute plan. He was confident

in God's time. But like we studied before, he

was all man because he was sitting there with

his disciples. He's like, guys, who do you say

I am? I mean, it's a... Not a pressing thing,

but like even right here, you know, he told the

disciples, told the disciples right here in Luke,

in the Holy Spirit, it wasn't the timing to open

their minds up to this right here, even though

Christ was faithful to say it over and over.

And Luke remembers that. Peter remembers that.

In our relationship with other people, we lose

that patience pretty quick. We need to do it

over. And over. Because the timing's not there.

And over. That's what the pastor does with us

too. He says the things that he says from the

pulpit. And by the facial expressions and everything.

They get it, they don't get it. The next Sunday

he says it again. And then you'll see some reflection

in some individuals. It's the timing. It's the

Holy Spirit. but he's faithful to say it over

and over because it's the truth but it just wasn't

the timing wasn't there either for us not to

accept it or understand it or for him to continue

to present it in different ways which is good

for him and it's good for us It's just the way

the Holy Spirit works. But I could see Christ's

desperation or dejection. But guys, who am I?

I've told you over and over, and you've seen

it. So who am I? He needed that as a man. So

now, he taught in Luke, and the Holy Spirit's

like... No, it's not time yet. I would get kind

of exasperated, where Christ didn't get exasperated.

But when the Holy Spirit didn't dwell on me,

there was an explosion, wasn't it? Which one?

These verses we just... Concealed them? 145?

One is Luke 18 verse 34. And then one was in

Luke 18:34

Mark 9, Luke 9, 45. Those two times it was hidden.

Over in Luke 18 it says it was hidden. Well,

I've seen it before. I never did recognize it.

Yeah, it was hidden. And I never realized either

that it was actually hidden. What's that? What

was the other one named? 18 verse 34. It might

have been a different translation I was looking

at that didn't say it that way or something.

1834 and Luke 9 .45. It was hidden from them

so they did not perceive it, is what Luke 9 .45

says. So why? That's my question. Why? And my

thought is... It was not something that they

could have dealt with at this time. They couldn't

deal with going to Jerusalem and watching their

teacher, their master being put to death like

this. If they knew that was coming, what would

they have done? They wouldn't have listened to

any of this. They would have jumped ship. Hey,

I'm not on board with somebody that's going to

die. My teacher's going to die? What part am

I going to have in the kingdom? You know? Certainly

wouldn't listen to anything in the upper room,

would they? No. Where's that first found in my

brother's book? This is text 945. Is he elaborating

on that at all? I got that. You're talking about

the clock. That's 9 .6. The author didn't include

that. Even though they did not understand the

saying, it was hidden from them so they did not

perceive it. They were afraid to ask him about

it. What does it say down there in the notes?

Down here? Yeah, that's the notes on them specific

verses. You see the one, that specific verse

down there? It tells the verse. Close that verse

hand, will you? Here's a, if you want to look

that up real quick. That's about right over here

is where Mark is. See if you can look at that

and see if you can see. Yeah one of them is 945

and the other one is 18. It just says here, heading

for them, that is, in accord with God's sovereign

design. Then it says see further 2445. So it's

heading from them. by God's design. I thought

that was very interesting as well. He didn't

understand his words. But that's interesting.

And I do believe that the Spirit withheld that

from them. Yeah, that's what he says. Well, it

says this was hidden from them so that they did

not perceive it. It doesn't necessarily say the

Spirit withheld it, but it does say it was withheld

from them. And I believe it was the Spirit. This

teaching of death and resurrection was not their

expectations of Jesus He could have not taught

them the important lessons before the cross because

Remember I gave you about 10 lessons that he

is he is preparing to teach them If they had

got if they had understood this they would not

have listened to these lessons that were coming

It all makes sense once you understand. He could

not have taught them the important lessons before

the cross they needed to hear and learn. The

Holy Spirit later would give them what they needed

to go on with Jesus' message. You know what I

mentioned earlier, that after the Holy Spirit

had indwelled, We've seen every one of these

men not only proclaim what Jesus had taught,

but die for that. You would not die for something

that you did not fully believe in. You would

not do that. Look up John 12, 16. I've got that

verse here highlighted. It says, read. These

things his disciples did not understand at the

first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they

remembered that these things were written about

him and that they had done these things to him.

So the crowd who was with him then... So the

crowd who was with him when he called Lazarus

out of the tomb and raised him from the dead

continued to bear witness about it. So that's

just giving testimony to the fact that when he

was glorified that talks about his death and

resurrection. He was glorified in that. And they

remembered the things that Jesus had said. Well

then in one sense that's what we do in BBS. We

take these kids and we try to teach them and

give truth to them. A lot of times it falls on

deaf ears and we pray that it will come to mind

later. We plant that seed. Yeah. We plant that

seed and that's the same thing we're doing in

good news clubs. Anywhere you minister, you're

planting that seed. You give a track out. It's

something as simple as giving a track out and

somebody reads that track. You're planting the

seed that... Somebody else eventually may harvest,

you know. It's not up to you. It's not up to

me. All I do is put the seed out, put the word

out, and it's God who brings the increase. It's

God who works in the heart and uses His word.

At the end of verse 32, it says, And they were

afraid to ask Him. Remember what happened the

first time Jesus told them the plan. Peter rebuked

Jesus and he got a good scolding. Maybe they

remembered this or maybe they were slightly getting

the picture and they refused to believe it because

they didn't have a category for this suffering

in their understanding. Even though Jesus spoke

plainly or clearly, they couldn't understand

it. Again, I believe it's the Holy Spirit. Because

it said that Jesus, He didn't speak in parables

like He had been. He spoke this plainly and clearly.

I'm questioning if they even began to get it.

Yeah, that's true. Even if the Holy Spirit let

them get to that point. Yeah. Also remember this

is now in their memory. that will later come

out in the writings of the Gospels and stuff

like that. That's right. And the big thing is,

I believe, is that they remember now that this

is part of God's plan. Jesus wasn't a victim

of circumstances here. He wasn't the victim.

This is something that was planned before the

foundation of the world to secure... there in

our salvation. Absolutely. I mean, and that was

essential for them to see that it was not man

who actually delivered or betrayed, but it was

God who delivered Jesus for us. He said that,

you know, I could call down, you know, whack

his ear off, he's like, dude, at any minute,

You know, I could call and all this would be

gone. Yeah. His mind and power. You didn't know

how close to that may work, did you? Yeah. This

is my plan. Yeah. My plan. But wasn't it, what,

didn't several soldiers fall? Yeah, when they

were doing the trade, they came over here. They

said, look at Jesus. They said, I am what he

said, and they all fell over. Yeah, I mean, that,

that, that shows, that shows the power. that

God had through him at that time. I mean, wouldn't

that be something? And you know why that's recorded

is because these men remembered that. You know,

they're remembering all these things that they

have. That's right. And many today, the truth

of God is still here in front of them. You know,

it's in black and white. Many of them have read

it. One in particular, I think of, is Grant,

Dory's brother. He has that Bible, and I remember

Warner even sharing a German Bible with him,

because he was really into German. And he has

that right there in black and white. He can read

it just like we read it. And yet, that truth

is hidden from you. And until the Holy Spirit

opens your heart and reveals it to you, you can

see it, but you can't understand it. That's true

of all of us. That's right. And even a lot of

the scripture that we read today, it takes years

down the road before you actually even conceive

it or perceive it. It's a process and that's

that's a lifelong process They still can't really

see it But still can't really conceive Yeah,

a lot of it you can't but a lot of it a lot of

it you can understand Yeah, yeah, it's a never

-ending never -ending gospel Yeah, I think that's

where we're gonna gonna end up Tonight next week.

We're gonna for our next two weeks we will get

into who is the greatest. We'll get into the

meat of the subject. But this is the second time,

and I just wanted for us to see how this isn't

isolated cases. This teaching in the Greek is

something that was an ongoing thing. And I just

wanted to read to you and Luke and other passages

and Matthew, other passages. that are not related

to our study tonight, it mentions these different

places that Jesus taught these things. Good.

Father, thank you, Lord, for... Revealing these

truths to us tonight, and thank you so much for

sharing your word with us. Thank you for the

opportunity to come before you, that other people

or places that this country, this world may not

be able to do. Just thank you so much for everything

that you've done for us, for your sovereignty,

for your grace, all our lives. And that's all

these things that Jesus created. Amen.
