  1. I hope I do display some sort of enthusiasm this

  2. morning, following this thing -fest we had. I

  3. guess you have to, once in a while, allow the

  4. younger people to dictate the rhythm and the

  5. speed, although I have a hard time following

  6. at times. But it was very nice. very nice but

  7. tonight you know I was thinking a lot of times

  8. I've talked to people and a lot of the verses

  9. in the Bible speak about the concept what is

  10. meant I put that in what is meant by believing

  11. in Jesus I'm gonna go through a lot of verses

  12. here and I want you to think about this We, you

  13. know, we talk to people and we quote John 3 .16,

  14. neither believers in the son, of course, as eternal

  15. life, he believes not, shall not see life, and

  16. so forth. But in the light that the eternal God

  17. of the universe is ultimately holy, his righteousness

  18. and justice are perfect and justified, his unconditional

  19. love for the children of man is demonstrated

  20. clearly at Calvary. No one has an excuse not

  21. to be reconciled to God. And the truth, of course,

  22. is Jesus is the way. The verses I have today

  23. are very familiar to you. I chose a lot of verses

  24. that we all know. I want to put them all together

  25. in different headings here to come up with the

  26. idea and with an explanation, more or less, what

  27. we believe as far as Jesus is concerned, who

  28. is saying it, and so forth and so on. Let me

  29. read a few verses to get you into this in John.

  30. I have various verses. I don't know if you want

  31. to continue or to follow along, but you can take

  32. notes. John 3 .16, of course you know that, God

  33. so loved the world He gave His only begotten

  34. Son, that whosoever believes in Him, there again

  35. it's the same concept, believes in Jesus, believes

  36. in Him, has eternal life. And, of course, he

  37. that believes not is condemned. Romans 6, 23,

  38. all have sinned to come short of the glory of

  39. God. In other words, this verse declares every

  40. person guilty and condemned before God, who is

  41. ultimately holy. 2 Corinthians 2, 21, But the

  42. Father made him, Jesus Christ, who knew no sin,

  43. to be sin for us, that we should be made the

  44. righteousness of God in him. Conclusion is, Jesus

  45. is the only way to come to God and have eternal

  46. life. Believing in Him, the beloved Son shall

  47. have eternal life, of course, John 3 .16 and

  48. John 3 .17. God testified that through Him the

  49. world might be saved. Why then is not everyone

  50. in the world saved? Of course, the concept is

  51. to believe and to respond to this love that God

  52. has put forth to the world in Jesus Christ. 3

  53. .18. In all these verses, 3 .16, 3 .17, and 3

  54. .18 in John chapter 3, believing is mentioned.

    John 3 chapter mention

  55. He who believes in Him is not condemned. John

  56. 3 .18. He who is not condemned is a child of

  57. God. He who believes not in Him is condemned

  58. already. He does not believe in the only begotten

  59. Son of God. This believing concept is all through

  60. this whole New Testament here. And, you know,

  61. I have no computer at home. And when I have a

  62. topic that I explore, I write usually three studies.

  63. And each study had seven pages. And it was crazy

  64. to try to type one up for me. So I have usually...

  65. 21 pages like this, hand written for every time

  66. I come up, you know. It is quite a bit of handwriting,

  67. but I enjoy it. And like I say, it keeps my fingers

  68. limber. John 3 .36. Let me go ahead and flip

  69. a few pages here because... I'm still in my second

  70. study here. All right. Sorry David, I messed

  71. you up back there. All right. So the central

  72. figure of the Bible is Jesus Christ, the incarnation,

  73. the greatest event of Earth's history. And in

  74. John, like I mentioned before, in John, three

  75. times, as I mentioned, believing in Jesus, results

  76. in eternal life. In 318, who believes in Him

  77. is not condemned or covered by God's righteousness.

  78. The child of God who believes not is condemned

  79. already. He has not believed in the only begotten

  80. Son of God. Of course, this concept of righteousness

  81. imparted to us or standing covered in Christ's

  82. righteousness before God, or Jesus imparts to

  83. us sinful men His own righteousness, that is

  84. what salvation is, imparted righteousness, the

  85. righteousness of Jesus Christ. John 3 .35, the

  86. Father has loved the Son, has given all things

  87. into His hand. And 3 .36, He who believes in

  88. the Son has everlasting life. He who does not

  89. believe the Son shall not see life. On this earth

  90. now, on the glorified earth which is to come,

  91. according to 2 Peter 3 .13, and I have put that

  92. in because I want to concentrate on the gentleman

  93. that comes by my place once in a while from the

  94. Watchtower Society or George Witnesses. He is

  95. set to live eternally on this earth, but it is

  96. not possible, we know that, unless one is...

  97. righteous before Holy God, because some day deserves

  98. being part of the dwelling place of the righteous.

  99. What about Jesus in the Bible? And it is a different

  100. thing. Now, let's talk about Jesus Christ, believing

  101. in Jesus Christ. Now, I just picked three prominent

  102. religions, and the question is, there must be

  103. many Jesuses. There must be. For example, the

  104. Mormon Jesus. Question. Do you believe in Jesus?

  105. Oh yes we do. The father greeted him along with

  106. the rest of his spirit sons. He was greeted an

  107. archangel along with Lucifer and Michael. When

  108. Lucifer turned bad and became Satan, God's arch

  109. enemy, Jesus remained the father's good and obedient

  110. son. So then, Jesus and Lucifer, now Satan, are

  111. really brothers. Certainly not the same Jesus,

  112. right? No. Jehovah's Witnesses watched all society.

  113. Oh yes, we believe in Jesus. He began when he

  114. was born in Bethlehem, of Mary. He grew up a

  115. man, and his baptism by John in the River Jordan,

  116. the Spirit of God came upon him in the form of

  117. a dove, sent by Jehovah to anoint him. From this

  118. moment on, Jesus became God's anointed son. Even

  119. though Jesus said, the Father and I are one,

  120. John 10 .30. In other words, his original beginning

  121. was in Bethlehem, not the same Jesus. And one

  122. more is the Muslim religion of Islam. We hear

  123. so much about that. Do we believe in Jesus? Oh

  124. yes, we believe in Jesus. Jesus is a prophet

  125. of Allah, but not to the same stature of Muhammad.

  126. If he did not die, Allah would not permit his

  127. prophet to be crucified by infidels. An imposter

  128. died in his place. Allah took him, this Jesus,

  129. to heaven. In his appointed time, he will come

  130. back to earth and testify for Islam. Of course,

  131. obviously, not the same Jesus, the Bible. So,

  132. who is this Jesus who calls himself the Son of

  133. God? Let the true Jesus stand up, in other words,

  134. the Bible testifies of itself. The true Jesus

  135. of the Bible, Romans 3, 4 of course, we know

  136. that, let God be true and every man a liar. And

  137. all these religions I mentioned are originated

  138. by people, by men. So let God speak for himself.

  139. Of course we have John 11, 25 and 26. Jesus speaking

  140. to Martha, Lazarus' sister, I'm the resurrection

  141. and the life. You believes in me, the same concept.

  142. all through these verses. Of course, Jesus is

  143. not speaking of the physical death, but he speaks

  144. of the condemnation in the lake of fire, which

  145. is the second death, Revelation 21 .8. Revelation

  146. 26. Jesus and the Father is testifying. 1st John

  147. 5, 11 and 12. Let me read these verses. And this

  148. is a testimony that God has given us eternal

  149. life and this life is in His Son. who has the

  150. Son has life, who does not have the Son of God

  151. does not have life. Indeed these things are written

  152. to you, that believing in the name of the Son

  153. of God, that you may know that you have eternal

  154. life, that you may continue to believe in the

  155. name of the Son of God. Testimony of Jesus Christ.

  156. In Romans 8, 9 to 11, this life is in God's Son.

  157. And this life is imparted to us, and of course

  158. the Spirit of the Son of God dwells us, in Romans

  159. 8, 11. And this life is assured to us by believing

  160. in Jesus Christ's redemptive work on our behalf

  161. on the Cross of Golgotha through the interweaving

  162. Holy Spirit. Of course, but if the Spirit of

  163. Him who has strived from the dead dwells in you...

  164. I tell you something, I can quote this verse

  165. every day, except now. Romans 8 -11. The spirit

  166. of Him who raised Christ from the dead dwells

  167. in you. He who raised Christ from the dead will

  168. also give life to your mortal body through His

  169. Spirit who dwells in you. So, the Spirit is empowered

  170. to us and this is eternal life. Psalm 10, 26

  171. to 28. See the teaching in the temple at the

  172. feast of dedication, speaking to the Jewish leaders.

  173. But you do not believe because you are not of

  174. my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, I know them,

  175. and they believe, they follow me, and I give

  176. them eternal life, and they shall never, never

  177. perish. And of course, Pastor Peter emphasized

  178. that by saying, never under any circumstance

  179. perish. with a shell anyone's nest them out of

  180. my hand. Eternal security is in Jesus Christ

  181. and of course the Spirit assures our spirit that

  182. we are in God's hand. And I put on who is making

  183. the statement and who is backing up this assurance.

  184. And here we have the testimony of course in Philippians.

  185. The highly exalted Son of God is above every

  186. name. Let me read this verse here. Philippians

  187. 2 .9. Those are all familiar verses, but they

  188. are really important verses to understand this

  189. topic. Therefore, God also has highly exalted

  190. Him, giving Him a name which is above every name.

  191. In verse 10, in the name of Jesus, every knee

  192. shall bow of those in heaven, that's the angelic

  193. beings, and those on earth, that's the human

  194. beings. And those under the earth are the beings,

  195. the spirit beings of the underworld. And every

  196. tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

  197. the glory of God, the Father." Philippians 2,

  198. 9, 10, and 11, the exalted Son of God, whose

  199. name is above every name. And this is the one

  200. who makes the claim, makes the claim that in

  201. Him is salvation. As I read earlier, John 14,

  202. 6, there is no other way. Back to Jesus Christ.

  203. In Galatians 1, 13 -16. Again, let me read these

  204. verses. They are very, very important, powerful

  205. verses. He has delivered us from the power of

  206. darkness and translated us or placed us into

  207. the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we

  208. have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness

  209. of sins. He is the image of the miserable God.

  210. In other words, He is what God is. interesting

  211. because he got a spirit. And Jesus Christ, through

  212. the Incarnation, received a body. And now when

  213. we see Jesus, we see God. And we can see Him.

  214. Of course, someday we will see Him. And so we

  215. can see God. We saw a resurrected body. And that

  216. was Galatians 1, 13 -16. Let me read verse 15

  217. then. He, the son of God, he is the image of

  218. the invisible God, as I've read that. Because

  219. the Incarnation has a body, we shall someday

  220. see him. And Job, Job 19, 25, 27 is beautiful.

  221. Job burst forth with one of the most sublime

  222. expressions of faith ever uttered. Job is a beautiful

  223. book. And you know, it's the oldest book in the

  224. Bible. And when you think of this man, not having

  225. any scriptures. yet his walk was with God. He

  226. said, I shall see God whom I shall see for myself,

  227. and my eyes shall behold him, and not another,

  228. how many, how my heart yearns within me to see

  229. him. It is a tremendous expression of love and

  230. affection for his God. Job 19, 25, 27. And Hebrews

  231. 1, 1 to 3 again, and that is under the heading

  232. of Who is speaking here? Who is testifying? And

  233. who is giving these promises? Not the Jesus of

  234. the Mormon Church, not the Jesus of the Chorus

  235. Witnesses, not the Jesus of the Muslims, but

  236. the Jesus of the Bible. Hebrews 1, 1 -3. God

  237. has spoken in time past by the prophets, but

  238. He has now spoken in these last days through

  239. His Son. And in verse 3, Hebrews 1 -3. who being

  240. the brightness of his glory and the expressed

  241. image of his person. In other words, to see Jesus,

  242. you see God. He's the only one of the Godhead

  243. who has a body. In Galatians 1 .16 .17, I was

  244. thinking, I've got to finish this. For by Him

  245. all things were created that are in heaven, in

  246. earth, and under the earth, the thrones, the

  247. millions, principles of powers, all things were

  248. created by Him and for Him, to exalt Him, to

  249. glorify Him. Jesus Christ, we're talking about

  250. here now, and He is before all things, and in

  251. Him all things consist. He holds all things in

  252. His hand, so to speak. even those people who

  253. blaspheme him. And what Jesus will do for those

  254. who believe. Now we have different testimonies

  255. here and of course it's the testimony of Paul,

  256. Paul's testimony. Philippians 3, 8 to 11 and

  257. 8. I count all things lost for the excellence

  258. of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. and

  259. be found in Him... Now, everything this world

  260. has to offer is as nothing to know Jesus Christ,

  261. and be found in Him or possess Him, being clothed

  262. in His righteousness, received from God by faith,

  263. and that I may know Him and experience the power

  264. of His resurrection and the fellowship of His

  265. suffering, being conformed to His death. That

  266. means having denied myself will, having taken

  267. up my cross daily, and I'm following him, Luke

  268. 9 .23. That is what Paul says, being conformed

  269. to his death. He had put aside all his own self

  270. -will, took his cross upon himself, and went

  271. the path the Father has had for him. The same

  272. thing that we have to adopt to our own, for own

  273. life, philosophy. And verse 11 is, if by any

  274. means I may attain to the resurrection from the

  275. dead, by any means of course would be by the

  276. rapture of the church to see him, 1st Thessalonians

  277. 4, 13 -18, or by the common death of every person.

  278. In other words, like Paul says in 2nd Corinthians

  279. 5, 8, absent from the body, present with Jesus.

  280. There's no soul sleep. There's no sleeping under

  281. the willow tree. Things like that, you know,

  282. some of them old gospel songs talk about that

  283. a lot, you know, they say, and Bessie is sleeping

  284. on Easter willow tree until Jesus comes and so

  285. forth, but there's no sleeping there. Jesus said,

  286. Paul says, we're absent from the body, not whether

  287. our soul and spirit have left the body, we'll

  288. be present with Jesus. It is very, very encouraging.

  289. 2 Timothy 4, 8, and of course Paul... Thank you,

  290. David, thank you. Paul in prison, now this is

  291. the testimony of Paul, and I want you to see

  292. some of these saints. This is 2 Timothy 4, 8.

  293. 4, 6 to 8, really. It is all these saints, like

  294. Job and like Paul. Paul in prison in Rome, and

  295. Timothy is pasturing the church in Ephesus. He

  296. says, finally... fall right from the prison.

  297. There's laid up for me the God of righteousness,

  298. which the Lord the righteous judge will give

  299. me on that day, and not to me only, but to all

  300. those who love His appearing. Question then is,

  301. do you and I believe in Jesus so much as to eagerly

  302. long to see Him anticipate His appearance? And

  303. in Hebrews 9 .28 along the same thought here,

  304. to all who are eagerly waiting for Him. And in

  305. Titus 2, 11 to 13, to all who are looking for

  306. this blessed hope. Those are, if you write it

  307. down as 2 Timothy 4, 6 to 8, and Hebrews 9, 28,

  308. and Titus 2, 13, 11 to 13. All this talking about

  309. anticipating to see Jesus. And finally, brethren,

  310. and I have gone very fast through these verses.

  311. Titus 2, 11 to 13. Titus 2, 11 to 13, yeah. To

  312. all the looking for this blessed hope. 1st John

  313. 5, and let me go ahead and turn to 1st John.

  314. Finally, brethren, and I do mean that this is

  315. my conclusive thought in this matter. Anyway,

  316. it is 1 John 5, and of course those are very

  317. precious verses in here, and let me pick up here

  318. on verse 11, or verse 10. We don't want, it says

  319. here, making God a liar. He who believes, verses

  320. verse 10, 5. 1 John 5, 10. He who believes in

  321. the Son of God has the witness in himself. That

  322. is the spirit which testifies to your spirit

  323. that you are a child of God. He who does not

  324. believe God has made God a liar. And of course

  325. that is very important to understand. And this

  326. is one thing when you get together with people

  327. of different persuasions and start quoting opinions

  328. and so forth and so on. Let us all be and just...

  329. go back again and stick with God what God has

  330. to say because he has not believed in the testimony

  331. that God has given of his son and this is the

  332. testimony that God has given us eternal life

  333. and his life is in the son. He who has the son

  334. or possesses the son to whom the Holy Spirit

  335. witnesses to his own spirit that they are a child

  336. of God has life. And this life is called His

  337. eternal life that God gives. Who does not have

  338. the Son of God does not have life. Very, very

  339. simple. You have the Son, possess the Son, you're

  340. covered by His righteousness, you have life.

  341. You don't have the Son, you don't possess the

  342. Son, there is no life apart from Jesus Christ.

  343. These things have been written to you with the

  344. Apostle John, who believe in the name of the

  345. Son of God that you may know or have confidence

  346. in. That you have eternal life and you can know

  347. that you know people say ah you cannot know you

  348. have to wait till the time comes and Roman Catholic

  349. Church, you know, they say well, you know You

  350. have to see if you're gonna how long you got

  351. how long you're gonna stay in purgatory What

  352. a terrible thing to do, you know, there is there's

  353. absolutely no I had it this morning we talked

  354. to Sunday school about that the children brought

  355. us this topic up and that Jesus died only once.

  356. We talked about the Old Testament when Moses

  357. struck the rock and I was encouraged that children

  358. in my class for the most part remembered this

  359. and remembered why. The pitch of the Old Testament

  360. referring to Jesus Christ being smitten only

  361. once on Golgotha. I said this is why the Roman

  362. Catholic Church is so wrong because when the

  363. breeze holds up the waver at the highlight of

  364. the mass, the mass kind of... culminates at the

  365. place toward the end, when the priest holds up

  366. in front of the high altar this waver, in Germany

  367. we call it a hostilia, and drinks the wine. In

  368. this very moment, according to the Roman Catholic

  369. Church, the waver and the wine again turn into

  370. the body and blood of Christ. A terrible blasphemous

  371. statement to make, because Jesus only died once.

  372. what we talked about in Sunday School. These

  373. things I've written to you, John says, who believe

  374. in the name of the Son of God, that you may know

  375. the eternal life, that you may continue to believe

  376. in the name of the Son of God. And then let me

  377. go down to verse 18 to close my thoughts this

  378. evening. 18 through 20, and of course 21. We

  379. know that whoever is born of God does not sin

  380. but he who has been born of God keeps himself

  381. and the wicked one does not touch him. Of course

  382. we have the spirit within us and greater is he

  383. within us than he who is in the world. We know

  384. that we are of God and the whole world lies under

  385. the sway of the wicked one. We can see it day

  386. by day in the news. It's terrible. News is terrible.

  387. despite us turning on the news, and it's always

  388. bad news. Anyway, unless it's bad news, it's

  389. no news at all. And verse 20, and we know that

  390. the Son of God has come, has given us an understanding

  391. through His Word, through His Word. And of course,

  392. the spirit and structures. In John 16, Jesus

  393. said, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come,

  394. He will guide you into all truth. And so we take

  395. the Bible and stay with the Bible. and learn

  396. and grow in the knowledge of God through His

  397. Word. We know Him and we understand that we may

  398. know Him who is true, and here is emphasis on

  399. the truth. Jesus Christ said, I am the truth.

  400. I personify truth. I am truth. Him who is true,

  401. and we are in Him who is true, in the Son of

  402. God, Jesus Christ, That is the true God, and

  403. that is eternal life. Will children keep themselves

  404. from idols? And of course, there's John managing

  405. these Christian people there. So, the testimony

  406. of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in whom believing

  407. you may have eternal life. And I ended five minutes

  408. early. Let me say a word of prayer. If you want

  409. some of the notes or some of the references,

  410. again, after you see me, I'll give it to you.

  411. Father, we enjoy. We have family here, the Blue

  412. Ridge Bible Church family. And they have come

  413. out tonight because they love to come out tonight.

  414. We don't come because we are coaxed to come,

  415. but we come because we want to come. And we desire

  416. to hear your word and participate in the singing

  417. of these songs, Lord, and to be enthusiastic

  418. about it, even a little girl. and we thank you

  419. Lord for the atmosphere which is here and this

  420. atmosphere of righteousness which is contained

  421. in this building when the saints come and we

  422. pray Lord that when visitors come they will see

  423. they will experience they will feel your spirit

  424. here amongst us and we pray Lord that you use

  425. us each one of us in your own particular area

  426. of friends or school or wherever it is Lord,

  427. to glorify yourselves and to admonish others

  428. and to be a testimony as Pastor Peter mentioned

  429. this morning that God did not use angels or any

  430. other means but He used us to show forth Jesus

  431. Christ and show forth the way of life, the way

  432. of eternal life. And we know that the whole world

  433. is going down. This broad way, as Jesus said

  434. in Matthew 11, the broad way leads to destruction.

  435. And future be the find the way to eternal life

  436. through this narrow gate, which is Jesus Christ,

  437. which is the door. And Lord, we pray that this

  438. house here, or if you'll be gracious, that allows

  439. us to build a house, a bigger building, will

  440. always stand here on Hall Gap Road as a testimony

  441. of your work. and be faithful to your word, Lord,

  442. and be a stalwart fortress to guide against any

  443. false teachings, Lord, and to be used of you,

  444. Lord, to proclaim the testimony of Jesus Christ

  445. to all those people around us and into the world,

  446. through the missionaries, Lord. Thank you for

  447. allowing us to have missionaries and support

  448. for missionaries, Lord. Thank you again for being

  449. a loving God and thank you for the spirit within

  450. us and amongst us and for the unity of the body

  451. Lord here at Bluewich Bible Church. And we approach

  452. this on Father in the name of the Lord Jesus

  453. whom we love and seek to serve. Amen.
