  1. All right, let's take our Bibles now and

  2. go to Revelation chapter 20. That was on

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

  3. my heart and uh

  4. the Lord just kind of told me I needed

  5. to encourage you in that regard tonight,

  6. and so

  7. that's what I did.

  8. So, Revelation chapter 20, tonight we

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

  9. finally have made it to

  10. the great white throne judgment. And

  11. we've been talking about this for 3

  12. weeks now. I was supposed to be here 3

  13. weeks ago, but we have really slowed

  14. down when we get to Revelation 20

  15. because it is so full of all kinds of

  16. wonderful things.

  17. And I'll just remind you of what we've

  18. looked at already. In verse 1 through 6,

  19. the Bible describes for us the

  20. millennial reign of Christ. That's the

  21. 1,000-year kingdom of Christ.

  22. It begins with the defeating of Satan at

  23. the Battle of Armageddon. Satan is bound

  24. and thrown into the bottomless pit.

  25. Christ rules and reigns for 1,000 years

  26. in Jerusalem. You and I get to rule and

  27. reign with him. It's a wonderful world.

  28. It's a wonderful kingdom. That's verses

  29. 1 through 6.

  30. Verse 7 through 10 is the Battle of Gog

  31. and Magog. At the end of the 1,000

  32. years, Satan is loosed for a period of

  33. time, and he is allowed to once again

  34. deceive. And he is a master at

  35. deception, and he is able to raise up a

  36. great army who surrounds Jerusalem.

  37. That's verse uh number 9. They surround

  38. the beloved city. They surround

  39. Jerusalem, and they're ready to attack

  40. King Jesus on his throne. However,

  41. uh Jesus and and you and I would There's

  42. no battle at all. There's no battle

  43. whatsoever. Fire falls down from heaven,

  44. consumes the army of Satan, and they are

  45. forever defeated. Uh Satan is bound up

  46. and cast away forever into the lake of

  47. fire where the Antichrist and the false

  48. prophet are.

  49. And that's verse 7 through 10, that

  50. great the final battle, the Battle of

  51. Gog and Magog.

  52. That final battle. Then there is in

  53. verse 11 through 15, and this is where

  54. we we come to tonight, the great white

  55. throne judgment.

  56. So, the thousand years have been

  57. completed. The battle of Gog and Magog

  58. has been completed. Satan has been cast

  59. into the lake of fire.

  60. And we have seen the the final battle.

  61. Now, in these verses, the great white

  62. throne judgment, we see the final

  63. judgment on the lost.

  64. Verse 7 through 10, the battle of Gog

  65. and Magog is the final judgment of

  66. Satan.

  67. Verse 11 through 15, the great white

  68. throne judgment is the final battle for

  69. Excuse me, the final judgment of the

  70. lost. So, I want us to consider a few

  71. things tonight as it relates to the

  72. great white throne judgment. And

  73. hopefully by the end, you'll be greatly

  74. encouraged and motivated through what

  75. the Bible teaches us. I've got three

  76. points for you, maybe four points. I

  77. cannot remember. We'll We'll figure out

  78. when we get to the end. Number one,

  79. write this down. We see first of all,

  80. the bench.

  81. The bench, b e n c h. I'll explain it.

  82. The bench. Let's Let's read the verses

  83. beginning in verse 11. We'll read

  84. through the end of the chapter. Refresh

  85. our memory on what the text says.

  86. And I saw, John is writing. What does he

  87. see? I saw a great white throne and him

  88. that sat on it from whose face the earth

  89. and the heaven fled away, and there was

  90. found no place for them. And I saw the

  91. dead, small and great, stand before God,

  92. and the books were opened, and another

  93. book was opened, which is the book of

  94. life, and the dead were judged out of

  95. those things which were written in the

  96. book according to their works. And the

  97. sea gave up the dead which were in it,

  98. and death and hell delivered up the dead

  99. which were in them. And they were judged

  100. every man according to their works. And

  101. death and hell were cast into the lake

  102. of fire. This is the second death. And

  103. whosoever was not found written in the

  104. book of life was cast into the lake of

  105. fire.

  106. Have you ever been in a courtroom? How

  107. many of you have ever been in a

  108. courtroom and you've observed the

  109. setting? I can only remember one time in

  110. my life when I was in a courtroom and I

  111. do not know why I was in the courtroom.

  112. I cannot remember.

  113. I think I was a teenager at the time and

  114. I remember sitting there and being a

  115. little bit intimidated by the desk, the

  116. bench that was before me. There is a in

  117. a courtroom, you have the judicial bench

  118. which is the desk behind which the judge

  119. sits. And he's seated there behind the

  120. desk, this this judicial bench. And the

  121. desk is the command center of everything

  122. that takes place in that courtroom. When

  123. you walk in, it commands your attention.

  124. Every eye is focused on the judicial

  125. bench. The very design of the desk is

  126. made with careful attention and detail

  127. so that the bench naturally projects an

  128. atmosphere of authority, order,

  129. prestige, power, and even intimidation.

  130. And you walk in and you see the judge in

  131. his in his

  132. in his clothing, in his outfit, and he

  133. stand his

  134. he sits on this

  135. behind this judicial bench.

  136. And you sit there and you await for the

  137. gavel to hit and announce your sentence.

  138. And tonight we enter not a judicial

  139. bench, but a divine bench. There is a

  140. divine courtroom in heaven and one day

  141. God will judge the evilness of the

  142. world. There is coming a day when every

  143. person who is without Christ will stand

  144. before the judge of all judges.

  145. And he will be judged according to his

  146. works.

  147. And if you think that a judicial bench

  148. in today's courtroom is intimidating,

  149. you have not seen anything yet. Because

  150. this courtroom in heaven is unlike

  151. anything that the world today could ever

  152. give to us. Notice the great white

  153. throne.

  154. It is a throne like no other.

  155. It is great because it is a throne of

  156. power.

  157. It says it is a great white throne.

  158. It is great. That is a picture of the

  159. divine power that is associated with the

  160. throne. There is no authority like the

  161. authority of the divine judicial bench.

  162. We have seen human thrones in the

  163. in our world and we've seen the

  164. Antichrist throne in the book of

  165. Revelation and we've seen the temporary

  166. thrones of the kings of this world, but

  167. but this throne that is mentioned here

  168. in Revelation 20 is unlike any other

  169. throne. For every other throne in the

  170. world is limited in some way.

  171. But this throne is unlimited

  172. in its power. It is unlimited in its

  173. authority because of the one who is

  174. seated in it.

  175. This judge contains all power. We would

  176. use the term in theology his omnipotent.

  177. He contains all power. And so this

  178. throne, this judicial bench contains no

  179. limitations. And because it is a great

  180. throne, it is a symbol of the power of

  181. the one who sits upon it.

  182. There have been many gavels that have

  183. struck signaling a courtroom's judgment

  184. upon a lawbreaker.

  185. Many times over a judge will pound the

  186. gavel on that judicial bench.

  187. And when he does, a sentence is

  188. pronounced. A sentence of judgment is

  189. pronounced upon the criminal.

  190. But there is no gavel like the gavel of

  191. God's wrath that will strike the

  192. sentence of of punishment upon the soul

  193. of every person who is not under the

  194. blood of Jesus Christ.

  195. There's never been a sound like the

  196. sound of God's judgment, God's gavel of

  197. wrath striking and sentencing every

  198. person who is not under the blood to

  199. eternal punishment in a place called

  200. hell.

  201. The the lake of fire rather.

  202. So, it is great because it is a symbol

  203. of his power, but it is also said that

  204. it is white. It is a white throne.

  205. And that is a symbol of its purity.

  206. It's a picture of Christ's perfect

  207. judgment upon sinful humanity. Human

  208. judges have made the wrong decision many

  209. times and they have pronounced the wrong

  210. judgment and and given the wrong

  211. sentence many times over.

  212. Because their judgment is imperfect, but

  213. God is righteous and holy and makes no

  214. mistake. He will never judge

  215. unrighteously. His judgments are just

  216. and pure. It is white because it is a

  217. symbol of his cleanliness. He He is

  218. spotless. There's no sin in him. There's

  219. no wrongdoing in him. There's no

  220. unrighteousness in him. He is perfect.

  221. So, this throne that he sits upon, the

  222. bench that we see

  223. is one that is great. It could That

  224. could be a reference to its size. It

  225. could be massive. It is also a reference

  226. to his power and then it is white to

  227. show that he is pure beyond anyone or

  228. anything else.

  229. And then notice the next phrase in verse

  230. 11. We see the the great white throne

  231. and then we see him that sat on it.

  232. So, there is a throne like no other, but

  233. now we see a judge like no other.

  234. Who is this judge that is seated on the

  235. great white throne? It is none other

  236. than Jesus Christ, the King of kings and

  237. the Lord of lords.

  238. And Jesus oftentimes in the book of

  239. Revelation is described as a lamb. We've

  240. seen that many times in the just in the

  241. past few chapters. Jesus Christ is

  242. described as the lamb of God, which

  243. taketh away the sins of the world. And

  244. we're so grateful for him being

  245. described as a lamb, but now he is also

  246. described as a judge. All through

  247. scripture, he is also the described as a

  248. judge.

  249. John chapter 5 and verse number 22 says

    John 5 chapter mention

  250. this, "For the Father judgeth no man,

  251. but hath committed all judgment to the

  252. Son." Who is the Son? That is Jesus

  253. Christ. He is the judge of the world.

  254. Everyone, everyone who has ever breathed

  255. God's air will stand before Jesus

  256. Christ.

  257. You will either stand, you will either

  258. bow before him today as the lamb, or you

  259. will bow before him on that day as the

  260. judge.

  261. But Philippians chapter 2 and verse 10

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  262. and 11 tells us very plainly that every

  263. knee will bow and every tongue will

  264. confess of things in heaven and things

  265. in earth and things under the earth that

  266. Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God

  267. the Father. There's coming a day when

  268. every person will bow. There are those

  269. who rebel Christ, they rebel against the

  270. law of God, they rebel against Jesus.

  271. And they say they will never bow to King

  272. Jesus.

  273. What they do not know is that there's

  274. coming a day, no matter how how powerful

  275. they are, no matter how how lovely they

  276. are, no matter how good of a person they

  277. are, every person will bow

  278. before the judge, Jesus Christ.

  279. Notice what comes next. It says, "Who

  280. from whose face the earth and the

  281. heavens fled away, and there was found

  282. no place for them at all." What does

  283. that mean?

  284. Means that God is going to destroy the

  285. creation that he made.

  286. Heaven and earth, all of it. It's all

  287. going to flee away from the face of the

  288. judge

  289. of Jesus Christ. It will flee from him.

  290. He's going to destroy the creation. For

  291. all of those who are concerned about the

  292. trees and the climate,

  293. I've got news for them. This planet is

  294. going to be destroyed one way or

  295. another. They can't save the planet. The

  296. planet's going to flee away. God will

  297. destroy this planet, but don't worry.

  298. He's going to replace it with a brand

  299. new heaven and a brand new earth. And

  300. we're going to get to that in chapter 21

  301. and chapter 22. He's going to make a new

  302. heaven. He's going to make a new earth.

  303. But this earth will flee away from him.

  304. It will flee from his face.

  305. Now, before we go any farther, I want us

  306. pause and make an important note that

  307. we're going to come back to.

  308. The great white throne judgment is not

  309. for believers.

  310. It is for unbelievers

  311. only.

  312. You and I will be judged. We will stand

  313. before Christ. But if you're saved

  314. tonight, if you're under the blood of

  315. Jesus Christ, then the church will be

  316. judged at the judgment seat of Christ

  317. following the rapture. Sometimes you may

  318. have heard it referred to as the bema

  319. seat of Christ. It is the judgment seat

  320. of Christ. As soon as the church is

  321. raptured or shortly thereafter, we will

  322. stand at the bema seat of Christ, at the

  323. judgment seat of Christ, and he will

  324. judge us.

  325. We we will be judged based on our

  326. reward. Meaning, the things that we did

  327. for Christ, we will receive a reward for

  328. it. But the things we did for our self,

  329. we will not receive reward for it. Let

  330. me read you these verses in 2

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  331. Corinthians chapter 5, verse number 10.

  332. The Bible says, "For we must all appear

  333. before the judgment seat of Christ." So,

  334. Christians must appear before the

  335. judgment seat of Christ that everyone

  336. may receive the things done in his body

  337. according that he hath done, whether it

  338. be good or bad. You will receive crowns

  339. of righteousness for that which is good,

  340. and you will receive nothing for that

  341. which was bad. You will be judged

  342. according to your works, but you will

  343. not be judged to determine whether you

  344. go to heaven or you go to hell. You will

  345. be judged to determine how many crowns

  346. you get to throw at Jesus' feet. Does

  347. that make sense?

  348. That's the judgment seat of Christ, the

  349. bema seat. That's happened far before we

  350. get to the great white throne judgment.

  351. The great white throne judgment is

  352. reserved for unbelievers only.

  353. It is the final judgment against those

  354. who rejected Jesus and did not accept

  355. his gift of salvation.

  356. And unbelievers of all ages will stand

  357. before the throne of God. Does not

  358. matter how big or popular someone is or

  359. how much money someone has, how small or

  360. unknown they may have been, if they

  361. reject Jesus in this life, then they

  362. will stand before the divine judicial

  363. bench of God's judgment on that day.

  364. So, number one, there's the bench.

  365. Number two,

  366. we see the books.

  367. Look at verse 12 and 13.

  368. John writes, "And I saw the dead, small

  369. and great, stand before God, and the

  370. books were opened."

  371. God has a bookshelf.

  372. And another book was opened, which is

  373. the book of life, and the dead were

  374. judged out of those things which were

  375. written in the books according to their

  376. works.

  377. The books were opened. What I'm just

  378. curious, and I ask myself this question,

  379. I wonder what books are on God's

  380. bookshelf. I wonder what books are we

  381. talking about when we read that the

  382. books I noticed right away that it's

  383. plural.

  384. It's not just the book was opened. The

  385. book of life is going to be opened, but

  386. before that, we see the books, plural,

  387. are opened. What books could be

  388. included? Let me give you uh we're going

  389. to we're going to take a little journey

  390. through the Bible here, and I'll give

  391. you some passages that you can write

  392. down, and I'll read them to you. The

  393. first book that I think is on God's

  394. bookshelf is the Bible.

  395. In John chapter 12 and verse number 48,

    John 12 chapter mention

  396. we read this.

  397. "He that rejecteth me and receiveth not

  398. my words hath one that judgeth him, the

  399. word that I have spoken, the same shall

  400. judge him in that last day."

  401. So, in the last day, John tells us, God

  402. is going to open his word and he's going

  403. to judge the sinner based on the Bible.

  404. One of the books that will be opened at

  405. the great white throne judgment is the

  406. Bible. It's interesting to me, I was

  407. riding down the road today, me and

  408. Esther were feeling like we needed some

  409. caffeine, so this afternoon I took a

  410. little trip and got us some caffeine. As

  411. as I'm riding down the road, I'm

  412. thinking about this text

  413. and it occurred to me, isn't it

  414. interesting

  415. that as the sinner stands before this

  416. great white throne, this judicial bench,

  417. and almighty God, Jesus Christ, is

  418. seated there as the judge, and they

  419. stand there rather bowed there before

  420. him as they recognize their sinfulness.

  421. One of the books on this, I don't know,

  422. perceived bookcase beside Jesus, he

  423. reaches over and he takes out a book

  424. with which to judge this individual

  425. with, and and they look upon him and

  426. they recognize the book.

  427. They realize they've seen that book.

  428. They've heard messages preached from

  429. that book.

  430. They've maybe even memorized verses from

  431. that book.

  432. They had it all along.

  433. And now Jesus will take that book that

  434. they are familiar with, the word of

  435. Christ, the Holy Bible, and he will open

  436. it up and he will reveal to them from

  437. the word of God that they have broken

  438. God's law.

  439. Can you imagine the sinking feeling

  440. that the very book that is pronouncing

  441. their sentence on them.

  442. They had it the whole time.

  443. They had the answer key

  444. and they rejected it.

  445. And John tells us on that day, God will

  446. open his word and will judge them. So,

  447. the first book on God's bookshelf is the

  448. Bible. Second, there is a book of

  449. records.

  450. There's a book of records.

  451. God is recording things. God keeps good

  452. records.

  453. Psalm 139 and verse number 16,

  454. the Bible says, "Thine eyes did see my

  455. substance, yet being unperfect, and in

  456. thy book all my members were written,

  457. which in continuance were fashioned when

  458. as yet there was none of them." The

  459. psalmist said, "You are keeping a record

  460. of every part of me, everything that

  461. I've done."

  462. Do you know the great thing about being

  463. a Christian?

  464. Is that that record book gets replaced

  465. with the blood of Jesus Christ. But, for

  466. those who are not saved, for those who

  467. have never accepted Jesus Christ, God is

  468. recording

  469. everything.

  470. Every thought that they have ever

  471. thought, every sin that they have ever

  472. committed, and on that day he will pull

  473. out his record book and he will open it

  474. and he will see their sin for sin.

  475. Isn't it a good thing tonight to be

  476. saved and that God's record book of our

  477. sin is covered by the blood of Jesus

  478. Christ, cast as far as the east is from

  479. the west?

  480. Oh, but there will be those on that day

  481. whose sin will be revealed.

  482. Number three,

  483. a third book, there is a book of tears.

  484. A book of tears.

  485. In Psalm 56 and verse number eight,

  486. the psalmist writes, "Thou tellest my

  487. wanderings.

  488. Put thou my tears into in bottle. Are

  489. they not in thy book?

  490. God is keeping a record of every tear

  491. that you cry.

  492. Every tear that you shed.

  493. There is a book of works.

  494. A book of works.

  495. Here in our text in Revelation chapter

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

  496. 20,

  497. verse number 12, I saw the dead, small

  498. and great, stand before God, and the

  499. books were opened. Another book was

  500. opened, which is the book of life, and

  501. the dead were judged out of those things

  502. which were written in the books. What's

  503. written in the books? According to their

  504. works.

  505. And so there are all these books, and

  506. then there is a final book that will be

  507. pulled out of God's bookshelf.

  508. And that is the book of life.

  509. Take just a moment and talk about the

  510. book of life. This

  511. book is a specific book. God names it

  512. very clearly in verse 12. It opens the

  513. books, and then another book was opened.

  514. And what is this other book? It is the

  515. book of life. The book of life is

  516. mentioned nine times in the Bible.

  517. It's mentioned in Philippians chapter 4

    Philippians 4 chapter mention

  518. in verse 3. It's mentioned in Psalm 69

  519. in verse 28. Every other time,

  520. the seven other times that it's

  521. mentioned are all in the book of

  522. Revelation. So it's mentioned nine times

  523. in all of the Bible, but seven of those

  524. are found in this book of Revelation.

  525. It's found in chapter 3, in chapter 13,

  526. in chapter 17, two times in chapter 20,

  527. once in chapter 21, and once in chapter

  528. 22.

  529. We find this reference to the book of

  530. life. What is the book of life? Well,

  531. there's many things that we could say

  532. about it.

  533. But what we know from this text is that

  534. God will open this book of life. And if

  535. the name of the person before him, as

  536. God sits at his judicial bench, he's

  537. judging at this great white throne

  538. judgment, he will open the book of life,

  539. and if the person before him's name is

  540. not found written in the book of life,

  541. then they will be forever cast out into

  542. eternal punishment.

  543. That person will be cast into the lake

  544. of fire. They will join Satan and the

  545. Antichrist and the false prophet in the

  546. lake of fire for all of eternity.

  547. There's some speculation here and I'll

  548. bear with me for a moment. I

  549. I'm not going to be dogmatic about this.

  550. I have not studied it enough to know for

  551. sure, but it's interesting to think

  552. about. So, I'll propose it to you and

  553. you can think about it with me.

  554. The book of life is very interesting in

  555. scripture. The psalmist talks about

  556. being blotted out

  557. of the book of life.

  558. And so there is a an idea, there is a

  559. teaching

  560. that

  561. makes sense.

  562. that

  563. your name starts in the book of life.

  564. When you are born, your name is put into

  565. the book of life.

  566. And at the moment that you are of an age

  567. of understanding

  568. and you recognize you're a sinner and

  569. that you need a savior, but you reject

  570. Jesus Christ,

  571. then your name is blotted out of the

  572. book of life.

  573. And then at such a time

  574. when you receive Jesus Christ and you

  575. accept his gift, your name is put back

  576. in the book of life.

  577. This would explain why God can be

  578. merciful to an aborted baby

  579. and they go to heaven.

  580. This is why David could pray when his

  581. child, his infant child died and and

  582. David had prayed and fasted for this

  583. child to live and and God had taken the

  584. life of that infant child, that David

  585. got up and ate and and his people who

  586. were were watching him said, "Why did

  587. you fast for the child when it was

  588. alive, but and mourn when it was alive,

  589. but now that the child is dead, you've

  590. got yourself together and you're eating.

  591. What what's going on?" And David said,

  592. "I He can't come to me, but I'm going to

  593. go to him." What's David saying? Hey,

  594. one of these days I'm going to see that

  595. infant child again.

  596. And this is something that we see all

  597. through our culture.

  598. Aborted babies I think fit in this this

  599. category, but also the terrible

  600. tragedies that happen to young children

  601. at times and their life is taken and and

  602. we mourn and we say, "God, why did you

  603. take their life so young?" But be

  604. comforted when a young child dies before

  605. they reach that age of understanding,

  606. which is different for every person I

  607. believe.

  608. Only them and God know.

  609. They are with They are in the presence

  610. of our savior.

  611. That is a an aspect of the mercy of God.

  612. So, I don't know if that's how it works.

  613. But it makes sense in my mind.

  614. When you're born, God writes your name

  615. in that book. And when you reach the age

  616. of understanding and you realize you're

  617. a sinner and you realize Jesus died for

  618. you, but you choose to reject that,

  619. then your name is blotted out.

  620. And then at such a time when you do cry

  621. out to Jesus and call on the name of the

  622. Lord and you receive Christ, then your

  623. name is put back in.

  624. Regardless, on that day,

  625. if your name is not found in the book of

  626. life,

  627. then you will be cast out into the lake

  628. of fire.

  629. That's what we know for sure.

  630. All the details around that, that's for

  631. God to know. He's just and righteous.

  632. But we do know that on that day, if your

  633. name is not found in the book of life,

  634. you'll be cast out into the lake of fire

  635. forever.

  636. I've got a few more things that I want

  637. to give you tonight.

  638. Verse 13 communicates to us that all of

  639. the dead from all time will be gathered

  640. and judged according to their evil

  641. deeds.

  642. Those who have died and have already

  643. died and are today they're in right now.

  644. They will be pulled out of hell, brought

  645. before the great white throne judgment

  646. and judged. They're to receive their

  647. eternal sentence, and then death, hell,

  648. and all of those who have been in hell

  649. will be cast into the lake of fire. Hell

  650. and the lake of fire are different. I

  651. don't have time to talk about all that

  652. tonight because I talked about other

  653. stuff, but they're different and one day

  654. hell will be cast into the lake of fire.

  655. The lake of fire is the the place of

  656. eternal torment, eternal punishment. Put

  657. down number three tonight. We see the

  658. bench, we see the books. Write down

  659. number three, there is the blotting out.

  660. Verse 14 and verse 15.

  661. And death and hell, here it is what I

  662. just spoke to you on. Death and hell

  663. were cast into the lake of fire. This is

  664. the second death. Those without Christ

  665. will be cast out into a place of eternal

  666. torment in which they are forever

  667. separated from the presence of God.

  668. And that is the worst part, by the way.

  669. We think of the fire as the worst part.

  670. The worst part is that they are

  671. separated from God. They can never enjoy

  672. the presence of God. It's interesting

  673. that people today who reject God, rebel

  674. against God, say they have no need of

  675. God, they have no idea.

  676. They they live in a world where God's

  677. presence is still active. They live in a

  678. world where there is the church that is

  679. indwelled with the Holy Spirit. And the

  680. Holy Spirit it is is the one who

  681. protects a lot of the things that and

  682. evil can only be so evil in this world

  683. as long as the church is here and as

  684. long as the presence of Christ is here.

  685. But one day they will experience what

  686. they truly desire to be separated from

  687. the presence of God. And it will be so

  688. much worse than they could have ever

  689. ever imagined.

  690. And put down number four, and this is

  691. final tonight. We've seen the bench and

  692. the books and the blotting out, but

  693. notice number four, the blessing.

  694. So, where is the blessing in all of

  695. this? This sounds terrible. And I would

  696. agree this is probably one of the most

  697. terrifying passages in all of the Bible.

  698. The bench and the judge and the lake of

  699. fire and the eternal torment, a

  700. terrifying passage. But there is a

  701. blessing in all of this. In verse 15, we

  702. see this phrase, "Whosoever was not

  703. found in the written in the book of life

  704. was cast into the lake of fire."

  705. That tells me that those who are written

  706. in the book of life

  707. will avoid the lake of fire. Notice with

  708. me verse six of this same chapter.

  709. We talked about it a few weeks ago.

  710. Notice the first word.

  711. What is the first word of verse number

  712. six of chapter 20?

  713. Blessed.

  714. And holy is he that hath part in the

  715. first resurrection. On such the second

  716. death hath no power. But they shall be

  717. priests of God and of Christ and shall

  718. reign with him a thousand years. There

  719. is a blessing even in the final

  720. judgment. Even in this final moment of

  721. of death and judgment upon the world,

  722. there is this blessing for those of us

  723. who know Christ. I'm so thankful tonight

  724. that I'm not going to be there.

  725. I won't be at the great white throne

  726. judgment. It's not for me. You see, my

  727. sin has already been judged by God. And

  728. I didn't have to bear that penalty.

  729. Jesus Christ hung on a hill called

  730. Calvary and God poured out his wrath. He

  731. hit the gavel of his wrath upon his own

  732. son and he poured out an eternity of

  733. wrath in a moment upon Jesus Christ. And

  734. Jesus took my sin and my shame and my

  735. punishment and my judgment on himself.

  736. And with his stripes, you and I are

  737. healed. So on that day, we don't have to

  738. stand before Jesus Christ the judge

  739. because we have bowed before Jesus

  740. Christ the lamb, and our sins are washed

  741. white as snow, separated as far as the

  742. east is from the west, and we'll get to

  743. rule and reign with Christ in the

  744. millennial kingdom. And when he ascends

  745. back up at the end of the thousand years

  746. and sits on that judgment throne, that

  747. judicial bench, and he pronounces

  748. judgment after judgment after judgment

  749. after judgment and sentences people

  750. after people after people to an eternity

  751. in separation in a place called the lake

  752. of fire, you and I will be enjoying the

  753. peace and prosperity of Jesus Christ

  754. because the wrath of God has already

  755. been poured out for our sin. And by the

  756. way, any person who calls on the name of

  757. the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved.

  758. Saved from what? Saved from that

  759. terrible, dreadful day. You and I have

  760. great hope. You and I have reason to

  761. rejoice. The book of Revelation is truly

  762. a blessing to the believer because we

  763. realize just how much Jesus did for you

  764. and I. So, this week, two things.

  765. Number one,

  766. thank Jesus for the blood.

  767. Thank him that he died in your place,

  768. that he took the wrath of God for you.

  769. And number two,

  770. go tell somebody about him

  771. because just as Jesus paid for your sin,

  772. so he has paid for their sin.

  773. And they don't want to stand

  774. before that divine judicial bench.

  775. They want to be absent. They want to be

  776. with you and I enjoying the peace and

  777. the presence of God for all of eternity.

  778. So, today, tonight, tomorrow, the rest

  779. of this week,

  780. would you thank God

  781. for the blood of Jesus that has been

  782. applied to your account? And would you

  783. go tell somebody about the blood of

  784. Jesus that has been shed for their sin

  785. as well.

  786. Heavenly Father,

  787. we love you very much, Lord, and I'm

  788. thankful tonight.

  789. I'm so thankful for the blood of Jesus.

  790. Calvary covers it all.

  791. Every sin, every stain, every shame,

  792. Lord, all of the guilt,

  793. all of the stuff that the devil would

  794. try and use against us, Calvary covers

  795. it all. The blood is sufficient. When

  796. you died, you died for all of my sin.

  797. And the blood has covered it all. Lord,

  798. I have nothing.

  799. I have nothing to stand on.

  800. But I'm so glad that I am under the

  801. blood.

  802. Thank you for the blood of Jesus. Lord,

  803. if there's anyone here tonight or

  804. watching

  805. that does not know for sure that they're

  806. saved, that they have called on the name

  807. of Jesus for their sin,

  808. then I pray that

  809. perhaps through the word of God that has

  810. been taught tonight, that Lord, you

  811. would enlighten them, show them their

  812. need of a savior, convict them that they

  813. might call on Jesus and be saved for

  814. forever, for an eternity, that they

  815. might never know what it is to live in

  816. the absence of the presence of God.

  817. But from this day and for all of

  818. eternity, they might live in the peace

  819. and prosperity and presence of our

  820. glorious savior.

  821. Lord, we don't want anybody to be there

  822. on that day. Sadly, many will be there.

  823. I pray you'd help us to reach some

  824. people. May we see some fruit. May we

  825. see some souls saved. May we see some

  826. people turn from their wickedness and

  827. call on Jesus Christ. And we'll give you

  828. the glory and the praise for all you're

  829. going to do. Thank you for this text

  830. that we've looked at this evening. Thank

  831. you for this church. Lord, I love these

  832. people. And I pray that you'd bless them

  833. the rest of this week. We ask these

  834. things in Jesus' name. Amen.
