  1. Him allowing us to be here. Amen. Let us go

  2. before the Lord. Amen. Amen. The question today is, how

  3. many of us are still walking in the plan of salvation?

  4. Let's see. I want to visit these scriptures in the

  5. book of Colossians. Amen. Amen. In the third chapter of Colossians,

  6. and Colossians, and we're going to see where we still

  7. stand in his presence. I know some of us say,

  8. I've been saved for a long time. Okay, well, let's

  9. see how you're still walking. Amen. Let's see how we're

  10. still walking since we've been saved a long time. Because

  11. God placed upon my heart this morning that because of

  12. the events that are happening on a daily basis, within

  13. seconds of each other, our focus could be turned away.

  14. Because there's so much going on in the world today,

  15. all over the world, that it's drawing our attention to

  16. the east, to the west, to the north, to the south,

  17. and some have lost focus on the middle, which is

  18. Jesus Christ. They have lost focus on the rock in

  19. which we are supposed to stand. Amen? So let us pray. Father,

  20. we come right now in the name of Jesus, thanking

  21. and praising your holy name. We're here for no shape, form,

  22. or fashion, but only to give glory unto your son

  23. Jesus Christ's name and to give you glory, God, from

  24. the lives that we live. Pray that our lives will

  25. give you the glory, Lord, and that you continue to

  26. help us to walk on the straight and narrow, that

  27. your spirit continue to rise up in us, that spirit

  28. of truth, that Holy Spirit continue to rise up in

  29. us when we get weak and when we get angry, God,

  30. that we'll continue in the form of righteousness and God,

  31. continually the salvational walk that you have put upon us, God,

  32. and has given us freely by the blood of Jesus

  33. and that we have chosen to do, God. We made

  34. the choice, Father, to follow Jesus and let him be

  35. our leader because we were being led by our own

  36. selves and we were leading ourselves to a devil's hell.

  37. But thank you, God, for turning us around by the

  38. blood of Jesus who died and delivered us from a

  39. sin nature to a righteous nature, God, that's pleasing in

  40. thy sight. Now, Lord, as we go forth in your word,

  41. let your word go forth and do what you have

  42. it to do, God, according to your will. Let it

  43. be done in this house and all over for those

  44. that are listening on the airways. It is my prayer

  45. that it will touch that one that is a sinner

  46. and will Break up that stony heart and cause him

  47. to come running to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

  48. that he too may be saved or she may be

  49. saved in the name of Jesus. Bring back the backslider.

  50. Let a word touch the backslider and bring him back

  51. to his first love. Turn him around, Lord, and let

  52. him come back to you and lay in your bosom, Father,

  53. as he once did. Continue to strengthen those that are

  54. continually holding on Because truly, it is a fight in

  55. these last and evil times. And this is my prayer

  56. to you, God, for your people and myself. In Jesus' name.

  57. And the church said, thank God. Thank God. Amen. And amen.

  58. Thank you, Jesus. In the book of Colossians and in

  59. the third chapter of Colossians, starting about the first verse. Amen.

  60. And the Lord says, if you then being raised with Christ,

  61. if you've been raised with Christ, and we've been raised

  62. with Christ when we give our life to Christ, amen?

  63. So when we've been raised with Christ, it says, do this.

  64. Seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on

  65. the right hand of God. And set your affections on

  66. things above, not on things on the earth. For you

  67. are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.

  68. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall

  69. you also appear with him in glory. So then, mortify

  70. therefore your members which are up on the earth. Fornication, uncleanness, inordination, affections, evil,

  71. conceptions and covetousness which is adultery for which things sake

  72. the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience

  73. in the which you also walk sometimes see you once

  74. walked in this he's saying when you live in them

  75. but now somebody say now you also put off all

  76. these you done put them all off Anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy,

  77. filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another,

  78. seeing that you have put off the old man with

  79. his deeds. Lying was one of his deeds. And have

  80. put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge.

  81. You got new knowledge. After the image of him who

  82. created him. So now you have the knowledge after him

  83. who created him, which is the image of Jesus Christ.

  84. Which is the image that we're after now. Where there

  85. is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, sanctum, bond,

  86. nor free. In other words, in Christ, there is no

  87. distinction between But Christ is all and in all. So therefore,

  88. put on therefore as the elect of God, as the

  89. elect of God, we have to put on holy and

  90. beloved vows of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering,

  91. forbearing one another, and forgiving one another. If any man

  92. have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you,

  93. so also do you. And above all these things, put

  94. on charity, which is love, which is the bond of perfection.

  95. This is called the complete growth, love, And let the

  96. peace of God rule in your heart to the which

  97. also you are called in one body, which is the church.

  98. And be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell

  99. in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one

  100. another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing with

  101. grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever you

  102. do in word or deed, do all in the name

  103. of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and

  104. the Father by him. Amen? Amen. Give God a hand

  105. clap of praise. Amen. Amen. You may be seated in

  106. the house of the Lord. Thank you. Let me get

  107. to it. Amen. There come times in our lives where

  108. we have to at times be reminded so that our

  109. minds can be refreshed of whose we are. Amen. Amen.

  110. In the run of a day, there's so much going on.

  111. We still have to remember who we are. So there

  112. come times like this time that for the purpose of

  113. being here in collectively together assembling ourselves so that we

  114. can be refreshed of the things that we already know. Amen.

  115. So as we begin to revisit these scriptures, we find

  116. that Paul is explaining true Christian behavior. Putting on the

  117. new self by accepting Christ. and regarding the earthly nature

  118. as dead. Because sometimes in the run of a day

  119. somebody going to get next to us. We have to

  120. remember the behavior that we have now put on as

  121. a saved saint of God. So We change our moral

  122. and ethical behavior by letting Christ like within us. Amen?

  123. So that we can give ourselves to him willingly so

  124. that he can shape us, amen, into what we should be.

  125. We can't do it. We tried it. In verse 1,

  126. let us know since we have been raised, express certainty.

  127. Since we have been raised, you were once dead in

  128. your sin, but now you have been raised from death

  129. just as Christ had been raised from dead by the

  130. power of God. Amen. By the power of God. By

  131. the power of God. You have received a new life

  132. from God through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen?

  133. Since Jesus Christ was died and buried and he was

  134. raised from the dead by the power of God. It

  135. was by the power of God. So we have received

  136. a new life from God through the power of the

  137. Holy Spirit. So now that we have received this new

  138. life by God through the Holy Spirit and the death

  139. and burial resurrection of Jesus Christ, you have to ask,

  140. so what now? So what now? So what now? And

  141. God has an answer for you. The word now is

  142. a continuation in the word of God that you can

  143. continue to grow and come perfect, or should I use mature,

  144. in the things and the ways of the Lord. Amen?

  145. That is the so what now. Once you have been saved,

  146. there is a so what now. Now there's something to do,

  147. more to do rather, than what we've done. What have

  148. we done? We've gave our life to the Lord. So

  149. what now? A lot of people claim to give their

  150. life to the Lord but miss the so what now?

  151. What is the so what now? I'll tell you what

  152. the so what now is. We have a responsibility to Jesus.

  153. That's the so what now. We have a responsibility to

  154. Jesus to live right and to understand and to respect

  155. Jesus' seat at the throne at the right hand of God.

  156. That's the so what now. as well as his judge

  157. and advocating of our lives. Amen? That's the sower now.

  158. And therefore, since you've been raised, as the scripture says

  159. in verse 1 of Colossians chapter 3, if you've then

    Colossians 3 chapter mention

  160. been raised with Christ... If you've then been raised. And

  161. it used that conditional word in that verse, first verse

  162. of chapter 3 of Colossians, that word, that little bitty

  163. word that's so powerful, if. Meaning, if you've been raised

  164. with Christ, then you should be seeking those things above.

  165. But if you ain't, or if you haven't, y'all want

  166. to correct English, then you're going to be seeking the

  167. things on the earth. Houses and cars and husbands and wives.

  168. and boyfriends and girlfriends and riches and wealth. But when

  169. you've been raised with Christ, you're going to seek those

  170. things above. Amen. And not only have you been free

  171. from sin if you've been raised, you have also turned

  172. a new life leaving behind. Did anybody hear that? See,

  173. when you get this new life, there's some things that

  174. you got to leave behind. You can't drag that baggage

  175. with you because God said, what does light have to

  176. do with darkness? You were once in the dark, but

  177. when you gave your life to Christ, you walked into

  178. a marvelous light and he illuminated within you and he

  179. illuminated before you because he said in the word that

  180. I'm a light inside a man. And I'm illuminating light

  181. to his path. Amen? He said, I'm the light and

  182. the man. So when you come out of darkness, you

  183. got to leave. See, when you come out of darkness,

  184. you can see those things. And then when you see

  185. those evil things that you once used, you're going to

  186. have to leave them behind now. You can't use them

  187. no more. See, once you've been freed from sin, you

  188. have to also turn to a new life. In other words,

  189. that sinful nature... No more should exist. But the new

  190. nature is the righteous nature of Jesus Christ. That's what

  191. he came for. Again, I say, to change the nature

  192. of man from sin to righteousness. Amen. And you got

  193. to leave behind the old ways that you used to have.

  194. The old habits and the values and the vices and

  195. the interests, the interests, the interests. And sin. Amen. Amen.

  196. And then you got to seek those things that are above,

  197. like a deeper knowledge. Those are the things above. See,

  198. once you get saved, the what noun is to seek

  199. a deeper knowledge in him. You don't know him. You

  200. got to get to know him. You just know of him.

  201. And once you know of him and you know enough

  202. of him that will cause you to come to want

  203. to know him, then you'll get in his word and

  204. begin to know him and not just know of him. Amen.

  205. And when that happens, your nature will change and you'll

  206. want a deeper knowledge of Christ. A closer fellowship with him.

  207. A better experience of his resurrection. Of the resurrection of

  208. his power. Amen. The victory over sin. And developing godly values.

  209. And the fulfillment of domestic and social responsibilities. And also

  210. an effective, effective prayer life. Amen. Because when you come

  211. to really know him, you're going to want to pray.

  212. You're going to want to pray. And he's going to

  213. allow things to come to cause you to pray. Because

  214. the Bible specifically says that man should never cease praying.

  215. What does that mean? Stay in direct communication with God

  216. all the time. See, here's what people do. They don't pray.

  217. Most folks don't pray they go to church. Most folks

  218. don't pray that something devastating happened. Most folks don't pray

  219. that something devastating happened to cause them on to pray.

  220. And some folks don't even pray it ain't about devastation.

  221. Sometimes it's about what I want. From God. Like God's

  222. a genie. You can rub him and get three wishes.

  223. Ain't going to happen, Calvin. The Bible says, a man

  224. ought never cease to pray. Which means to stay in

  225. constant conversation with God. What is prayer? I heard people

  226. tell me, I don't know how to pray, preacher. I said,

  227. you don't. And this is how I lead them. I

  228. don't even say, I don't even try to teach them

  229. how to pray. When they make their statement, I just

  230. keep talking to them. I keep talking to them and

  231. keep talking to them. Guess what they do? They keep

  232. talking to me. I keep talking to them. They keep

  233. talking to me. I keep talking to them. And then

  234. after a while, I say, that's how you pray. They

  235. be going, huh? I said, just like you've been talking

  236. to me, that's how you talk to God. You just

  237. keep talking. It ain't nothing specific. You ain't got to

  238. pour a whole lot of water over you and oil

  239. and bash yourself. Lay out on the ground, stretched out. See,

  240. because there's no posture in prayer either. We've been taught

  241. things the wrong way. There's no posture in prayer. You

  242. don't have to get down on your knees to pray.

  243. It's a good thing. It's a humbling position. You can

  244. lay out. It's a humbling position. But you can walk

  245. around in the grocery store. Lord, you see what I'm

  246. in need of. I just don't have enough money. You

  247. don't have to give me a break on this, Father God.

  248. I'm just saying I need your help right now, Lord,

  249. and You know, these groceries is high. Maybe there's some

  250. kind of way you can touch the register when I

  251. get up there and make something happen for me, God.

  252. You know, you walk around in the snow, but you're

  253. talking to God. Everybody think they got to get home

  254. or get to church. Oh, I got to get to

  255. church to pray. No, you can drive down the street

  256. and pray. Everything I'm telling you, I do this every day.

  257. I do it every day. I never cease praying. I

  258. pray to God all day, every day. When I'm at work,

  259. I say, look, I don't understand this. This ain't working right.

  260. I didn't connect these wires right and it still ain't happening.

  261. And God said, check the breaker. I checked the breaker.

  262. I said, God, it still ain't happening. You ain't reset

  263. it right. I'm talking to God. God talk to me.

  264. to me. Believe it or not, when you stay in

  265. constant communication with God, he ain't changed. He talked to

  266. the patriots of old. He ain't no God of favoritism.

  267. He'll talk to you. if you stay in constant communication

  268. with him. But when you ain't in constant communication with

  269. him and you praying to God after you ain't talked

  270. to him in seven months, because in seven months everything

  271. was just rolling on fire for you. And all of

  272. a sudden, here come a big old bump in the road.

  273. And now this Lord Jesus stretched out my hand to thee.

  274. God's saying, who in the world is that? You pray

  275. long enough, he'll Jesus said, you remember him, don't you, Father?

  276. But when you're in constant communication with God, you can

  277. just be rolling down the street. Lord, I just need

  278. to be on time. Can you hold it? I got

  279. out a little late, but can you hold the clock

  280. back just a little bit? When you're in constant communication,

  281. it just flows. It just flows. Just like this. And

  282. things just happen. It just happens. And sometimes because you're

  283. in such constant communication with him, you don't even have

  284. to open your mouth. You can just think it in

  285. your mind. You can be thinking in your mind, God,

  286. I need about $ 40 to pay this. You think it.

  287. I need about $ 40 to pay this bill. All of

  288. a sudden, bam, somebody jump out there with a hundred.

  289. He said, I'll bless you far greater than you can ask. See,

  290. people think about the asking part. I'll bless you far

  291. greater than you can ask. They forget about the other

  292. part of that and think. He said, I'll bless you

  293. far greater than you can ask or think. You can

  294. think it because God knows your thoughts. Amen. But constant

  295. communication allows all of this to happen for you. Amen. Amen. Amen.

  296. So we should always have an effective prayer life and

  297. be fruitfulness in witnessing. Some of y'all never witnessed to anybody.

  298. Some of y'all right here sitting in this house right

  299. now hardly ever to witness to anybody and a whole

  300. lot of y'all listening over the airwaves never listen to anybody.

  301. Never witnessed to anybody. Witness is what gets it. Do

  302. you think the lawyers in the court cases win? No.

  303. Whoever got the best witness. That's who wins. You could

  304. win a court case. That man guilty of sin, but

  305. he got a good witness. And he guilty as H-E

  306. double hockey stick. But yet he gonna get off because

  307. he got a good witness. And some of us hardly

  308. ever witness. And we have to maintain a Christian maturity

  309. so to have been raised with Christ and the things

  310. that I just admonished to you so I'm saying to you,

  311. if you've been raised with Christ and you don't seek

  312. these blessings, it's a contradictory to your rising. Amen? It's

  313. a contradictory to your rising if you're not constantly in

  314. prayer with him, if you're not being fruitful in witnessing,

  315. if you're not fellowshipping with one another. Amen? Developing godly

  316. virtues and having social and domestic relationships God-like abilities. Amen?

  317. And when you've been raised with him, those things come

  318. by the word of God. By you getting in the

  319. word of God, and when you get in the word

  320. of God, the word of God gets in you. And

  321. I've explained this many times. The things that are in

  322. you came from you from outside of the world. The

  323. world taught you how to use profanity. Amen, somebody? Amen.

  324. The world taught you how to drink. You ain't know

  325. how to drink. The world taught you how to smoke.

  326. You ain't know how to smoke. The world taught you

  327. how to pop pills and use dope and how to fornicate.

  328. The world taught you how to do those things. And

  329. the Bible will teach you how not to do those things.

  330. And the Bible will tell you how to do the

  331. things of God. Because you got in the world and

  332. the world taught you those things. But when you got saved,

  333. you came alive. you came, you're not in the world,

  334. you're not of the world anymore. See, when you was

  335. of the world, you did the things that the world taught.

  336. But now you're not of the world, you're just in

  337. the world. Amen? So now that you're not of the

  338. world anymore, you gotta be of something. You're of Jesus Christ.

  339. But you're still in the world. He was in the world,

  340. but he wasn't of the world. And there's a difference.

  341. So it tells us to set our affection on things above.

  342. The Greek word literally says this, set your mind on

  343. things above. So as to say that we are not

  344. to be copying the things on earth such as current philosophies.

  345. Philosophy is going to get us in trouble. Amen. Legalistic,

  346. legalism is what people preach today. They preach legalism. They

  347. preach philosophy. And they practice these things. Amen? Yeah, people say,

  348. I went to seminary school. Whoopee. You just telling me

  349. you messed up. You just telling me your mind's jacked up.

  350. Because I ain't heard of one apostle, one prophet, one evangelist,

  351. one teacher, one preacher that went to seminary school. It's

  352. a gift of God. Amen? I went to minister's school.

  353. at Howard University and you still a heathen. So what

  354. has it taught you? I tell you, nothing. The Bible

  355. says that the Holy Ghost, what class is that? Will

  356. teach all things to those that believe. The Holy Ghost,

  357. as wise as God has caused me to be in

  358. his word. I ain't been in nobody's class. Ain't no

  359. teacher taught me this. Ain't no preacher taught me this.

  360. I'm talking about me. I like Paul In a place

  361. where God allowed me to be, taught me for three

  362. years the word of God. Strictly from God. Amen. So

  363. this legalism and philosophies and practices were not to even

  364. dwell on things that are not wrong in themselves. Amen.

  365. There are things that are not wrong in themselves, like

  366. dwelling on a house. It's not wrong in itself. Amen. Amen.

  367. dwelling on a job or a career or even ambitions. Amen?

  368. They're not wrong in themselves because they can be wrong

  369. should they become a priority over God. That's when it

  370. becomes wrong. Amen? Anything you make a priority over God

  371. becomes wrong. Amen? But those things in themselves are not wrong.

  372. God wants you to have a house. He wants you

  373. to have money. He wants you to have clothes. He

  374. don't want you to run around here buck naked. He

  375. wants you to have a job. Amen. He wants you

  376. to have furniture in your house. The Bible said the

  377. earth and the food of the earth belong to God.

  378. And if he my father and then he proclaims that

  379. I'm an heir to joint heir with Jesus Christ. Double whammy. Yeah.

  380. God wants us to have these things because he said

  381. in the book of Philippians, he says, I shall supply

  382. all of your need according to my riches in glory

  383. by Christ Jesus. Amen? So things are not a sin

  384. or a curse, but they become one when you prioritize

  385. them more than God. I got to stay home and

  386. watch my house. Can't go to church today. I just

  387. got this house. I got to wash my car. I

  388. ain't going to be able to wash it tomorrow. I

  389. got to be at work. I'm too tired to get

  390. up and go to church today. Because I worked third

  391. shift last night. I ain't get off until about 6

  392. this morning. I need my rest. But then you prioritize

  393. the job Monday morning. And then lay God aside Sunday morning.

  394. When he commanded you, he didn't ask you. When he

  395. commanded you to forsake not the assembly of your Lord

  396. and Savior Jesus Christ. Forsake not the assembly of the saints.

  397. That's not an asking. That's a commandment. I proved it

  398. to you in the word a couple Sundays ago. If

  399. y'all were listening, I'm sure you were listening. I made

  400. sure you were listening because I said there it is.

  401. Y'all thought I was making that up when I said,

  402. God said, for the sake of the assembly of the saints,

  403. there was a commandment. I showed it to you in

  404. the Word, and I showed you it was a commandment

  405. of God. And even when I go out of town,

  406. I find somewhere to go to assemble with the saints,

  407. hoping and praying that they are the saints when I

  408. go up in there. Because I'll be praying, Lord, lead

  409. me in the right direction, because all these houses are

  410. not yours. Amen, somebody. It's tight, but it's right. Amen. Amen.

  411. Anything we make a priority over God becomes bad. Paul

  412. is telling us to love heavenly things. He's telling us,

  413. study them. I pause for the study them. That means

  414. you got to pick up your words. See right there,

  415. that's one of those psalms, see lies. He's telling us

  416. to love heavenly things And to study them. Let our hearts,

  417. your heart is not that in your chest that only

  418. pumps blood. This is your heart. Your mind is your heart.

  419. This is when God talks about your heart. This is

  420. what God is talking about. This is what the doctor

  421. is talking about. This is what God is talking about.

  422. So let our hearts be fixed on them now. Now

  423. let our hearts be fixed on them, those godly things above,

  424. and study those things now that we are converted to God.

  425. Be as much earnest for heavenly things and eternal things

  426. as we were for earthly things that perish. See, we

  427. got to be just as earnest and more for heavenly things.

  428. That earthly thing. Girl, I got me a ticket to

  429. the game. I got a ticket to the concert. We

  430. glad about it. But it's time to go to church.

  431. Where's your earnesty then? For God. Where's your excitement? You

  432. sitting in the game about to blow a fuse when

  433. it's over with. What's wrong with you? I was at

  434. the game shouting, you know. But you can talk fine

  435. when you leave church because you ain't shouted and praise

  436. God like you did those guys on the baseball field,

  437. basketball court, and football field. And the folks up on

  438. the stand entertaining you. You lose it, but you can't

  439. lose it here. Why not? I find him to be

  440. way more exciting. I said I do. I'm excited about

  441. the Lord. Anybody that know me that seen me in

  442. them streets, this me here, this me in the streets.

  443. I don't change. Do I change? You didn't see me

  444. in the streets. I'm the same way. I talk the

  445. same way and act the same way away from this building.

  446. I said that for a reason because everybody don't do that.

  447. They act one way in here and a whole another

  448. way out there. And follow them home and you'll really

  449. see how they live. Mm-hmm. I live the same way

  450. at home as I live in here. My wife right there,

  451. she can tell you. I don't change. I ain't no phony.

  452. I ain't perfected it. She can tell you that too.

  453. Still working on it. Am I working on it? Is

  454. God helping me to work on it? My wife will

  455. tell you. She know. I love this. I'm excited about this.

  456. Sometimes I don't even know how loud I am. I

  457. had to get up because somebody called me and asked

  458. me about a scripture. She watching TV. And the moment

  459. I see her, I hit that mute button. I hit

  460. that pause button. I said, it's time to go. Because

  461. she can't hear the TV no more. Because I get excited.

  462. I go into my little room over to the side.

  463. And I begin to expound on the word of God

  464. that somebody called me about. Folk call me all the

  465. time from all over the place. California, Detroit, Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi.

  466. They call me from everywhere. Folk call me and ask

  467. me things. Some call me to trick me. Some call

  468. me because they want to know. But I ain't fooled

  469. by none of them. Because it's impossible to fool the

  470. very elect of God. Amen, somebody. That's who he really for.

  471. So we have to be just as earnest and more

  472. for the things of God than we do for the

  473. things that we deal with, like our cars, our house,

  474. a new dress, a new suit, new hairdo. We should

  475. have greater, more great excitement for godly things than we

  476. do those things. Not to say you can't get excited. Amen.

  477. But I'm saying you shouldn't be overly excited. And even

  478. if you're excited about those things, this is your first

  479. excitement about a new dress, a new car, a new hairdo. Lord,

  480. I thank you. Hallelujah. This is a bad suit. God,

  481. you blessed me with this. God, look at God. Look

  482. at God. Look at this car. You somebody, God, gave

  483. me that car right. You somebody. See, that's your earnest

  484. expression of the things that God has given you. That's

  485. how you should do it. So you're thankful to God

  486. for that thing. Amen. I be driving that street all

  487. the time, my vehicle somewhere. You did it, boy. Boy,

  488. you know I wanted this right here. And look what

  489. you done did. Lord have mercy. So you understand. The

  490. moment that you receive salvation, the moment that you receive salvation,

  491. the moment that you received. See, the key word in

  492. that sentence is received. And the moment you received salvation,

  493. that moment you died to the evil of the flesh.

  494. At that moment, the moment you received it, you died

  495. to the evil of the flesh and the sin nature.

  496. You died to that once you received that. Amen, somebody. Now,

  497. there is a process of deliverance. I do agree. Amen.

  498. But you got to get delivered. Can't stay in that state. Amen.

  499. Let's see what Romans 6 and 3 through 8 says.

  500. Romans chapter 6, verse 3. It says, know you not

    Romans 6:3

  501. that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus

  502. Christ are Say it again. The newness of life. For if,

  503. there it is, we have been planted together in the

  504. likeness of his death, we shall be also in the

  505. likeness of his resurrection. Knowing this, that our old man

  506. is crucified with him, that the body of sin might

  507. be destroyed, that henceforth We should not serve sin. We

  508. should not serve sin. We should not serve sin. We

  509. should not serve sin. For he who is dead is freed,

  510. freed from sin. You've been set free from the bondage

  511. of the sin nature. Now, if we be dead with Christ,

  512. We believe that we shall also live with him. Can

  513. the church say amen? Amen. There it is. And now

  514. your life is hid in him. It is invisible and

  515. safe in Jesus because he said in John 14 and 19,

  516. yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more,

  517. but ye see me. because I live, but ye see

  518. me because I live, ye shall live also. But when

  519. he appears at the rapture, we will appear with him

  520. and we'll be glorified. Amen? We will appear with him

  521. and be glorified as he spoke in Colossians chapter 1

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  522. and verse 27. where he says, to whom God would

  523. make known what is the riches of the glory of

  524. his mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you,

  525. the hope of glory. The hope of glory. Paul here

  526. is saying if we are to live as examples of Christ,

  527. If we are to live as examples of Christ, we

  528. have to put to death the aspects of the sinful

  529. earthly things lurking within us. Because that's what they do.

  530. They creep back in at any given time. That's the

  531. reason why God has given you this sermon this morning.

  532. Because we have to be reminded of the things we

  533. already know at times. Amen. So that we can replenish ourselves.

  534. I know what water tastes like. But if I drink

  535. it all up, I'm going to need some milk. Amen?

  536. So Paul here is saying if we are to live

  537. as examples of Christ, we have to put up to

  538. death the aspect of the sinful earthly things lurking within us.

  539. The sinful nature, that old self tries to rise up

  540. on occasion, especially when you get angry, especially when you

  541. feel hopelessness, and that old man going to try to

  542. rise up. Amen? Even though we have died with Christ,

  543. temptation and the evil sinful nature still tries. It still

  544. tries us on a daily basis.

  545. But we have to hold on to the God that

  546. we serve. Hold on to the word of God for

  547. our life. Hold on to the word of God for.

  548. Our life because it's life-threatening. Amen? And listen. We don't listen.

  549. We talk too much sometimes. We be out and about

  550. talking to people and even talking to ourselves. We got

  551. to listen to the Holy Spirit. Amen? Because if we don't,

  552. God's judgment on those kinds of behavior will come upon us.

  553. His nature will not allow. I'm talking about the nature

  554. of God. The very God that we serve, he has

  555. a nature and his nature is holy. His nature is righteous.

  556. So his nature will not allow sin to go unpunished.

  557. I don't care who you think you are, what your

  558. name may mean to a whole lot of people. If

  559. you sin, I don't care if you are the glorious

  560. person that you may think that you are to people.

  561. And people might think you are. I don't care who

  562. you are. Your sin will not go unpunished because God's

  563. nature will not allow him to let it go unpunished.

  564. And some people try to get around it. But some

  565. people try to get around it, but at the end

  566. of the day, if you don't repent, hell is where

  567. you lift up your eyes. Amen, somebody? And in which

  568. you also walked in verse 7. See, in the Bible,

  569. in verse 7 of chapter 3 of Colossians, this verse

  570. lets us know that we don't need to be judged

  571. for those things anymore. You don't need to be judged

  572. for lying no more because you're not supposed to be

  573. lying no more. You ain't supposed to steal no more

  574. because you ain't supposed to replace stealing with honesty. Amen?

  575. You're supposed to replace lying with truth. Amen? So this

  576. is letting us know in this verse that we don't

  577. need to be judged for those things anymore because we

  578. have put off the old and put on the new.

  579. And that also when we look at others, it should

  580. remind us in our judgment that we too were once

  581. like them. And when it reminds us when we look

  582. at others that we were once like them, then we

  583. shouldn't project a harsh judgment on them. Get off that dope, boy.

  584. You crazy. What's wrong with you? See, you can't judge

  585. them harshly. You on dope once. Quit all that lying.

  586. You ain't nothing but a liar. You used to lie.

  587. Judge them with love and compassion like God did us. Amen.

  588. Remembering that we were once like them. We were once

  589. like that. We once walked in the very sinful nature

  590. they walking in. And it took the love of God

  591. to get us out. And it's going to take the

  592. love of God in you to help get them out. Amen.

  593. And these behaviors have no place in any Christian or

  594. in any church. These are part of your old life

  595. before knowing Christ. Amen. Old life before knowing Christ. All

  596. the people of God, all the saints of God must

  597. put off those repulsive sins of anger and speech so

  598. that we can put a cry. Christ's attitude and attribute

  599. and actions in our lives. Amen. By the word of God. Amen.

  600. And when it spoke to us in the 10th verse

  601. and the 11th verse, it's putting on things. Amen. The

  602. new man is the person one becomes after conversion. You're

  603. not the old man anymore. You become a new man.

  604. That's why it's called a conversion. And you possess a

  605. new nature. Not the old nature anymore. You put on

  606. new values, new aspirations, a new lifestyle. This new man

  607. is constantly being renewed. And how does he do that?

  608. By constantly reading and studying the word of God and

  609. meditating the word of God. That's how you constantly be

  610. renewed in your mind. And you begin to continue to develop.

  611. The things of God you develop until you obtain a

  612. mature knowledge. Amen? Of the God who recreated you, who

  613. created you. You continue this until you become mature. Mature

  614. and obtain a mature, holy attribute like Jesus Christ. You continue.

  615. This is a daily thing. You can't stop this for

  616. a week or a day. This is daily. You got

  617. to realize when the Lord questioned Satan, he said, where

  618. art thou? He knew where he was. Satan basically was saying,

  619. I'm going to and forth in the earth seeking the

  620. one who think he can take a break from you

  621. and the one that don't know you. This is a

  622. constant renewing, amen? And you become mature in the knowledge

  623. of the God who created you. The more... a believer

  624. knows and understands of God, the more he will be

  625. like God. I didn't say you're going to be God.

  626. I said the more you will be like God in

  627. character and conduct. Amen. Not only is the new man

  628. to put sin to death, he is also to put

  629. away man-made barriers that divide people and that nourish the

  630. vices of the old life. And among renewing humility, there

  631. are no natural ceremonies, cultures, or society distinctions to the Redeemer,

  632. Jesus Christ. Only the Bible. Jesus Christ is all that is.

  633. Jesus Christ is all that it is. He is everything

  634. and he is what matters most to every believer. And

  635. Christ is is in all, that is, he dwells in

  636. all believers. He don't dwell in no believer. He don't

  637. dwell in no non-believer, I mean. He don't dwell in

  638. a non-believer. He dwells in believers, amen? So let's conclude this.

  639. Let's conclude this lesson, a sermon, our instructions of God.

  640. In conclusion of this, because Jesus is the truth, As

  641. John 14, 6 says, the way, the truth, and the life.

  642. We ought to practice truth in all areas of our life.

  643. We should not lie to each other because lying disrupts

  644. unity and destroys relationships, destroys trust, destroys members of the

  645. body of Christ. It tears down relationships and may lead

  646. to serious conflict in the church as well. We should

  647. not pass around rumors because the Bible says speak that

  648. which you know and testify to that which you have seen.

  649. We shouldn't gossip or say things to build up our

  650. own image at others' expenses. You know you like to

  651. make yourself bigger than everybody else. Amen. The Bible says

  652. man I think so much of myself. Because we have

  653. put off the old evil nature and wicked deeds and

  654. have committed to telling the truth because The spirit of

  655. truth dwells in us. And because we have put on

  656. Christ and our goal, this as a believer, our goal

  657. is to learn. Our goal is to learn. And our

  658. goal is the learning of Christ likeness. The more we

  659. know of Christ and his work, the more we can

  660. be changed into his image and likeness. And this learning

  661. is not momentarily. This is a long life process. And

  662. we must never, somebody say never, stop learning and obeying

  663. the teachings of this Bible. Because the Bible, God's holy

  664. people are chosen by God for a specific purpose. Our

  665. inner destiny. No one can claim to be chosen by

  666. God because his or her heritage, our good work, our

  667. mother and father, our grandmother and great grandmother are in

  668. the church.

  669. No, God freely chooses to save whomever he wills. the

  670. doctrine of election teaches that it is God's sovereign choice

  671. to save us.

  672. By the goodness and the mercies of him and not

  673. by our own merit and not by our own merit

  674. And so we have to receive such wonderful grace that

  675. God gives and mercy from God. And it ought to

  676. be caused. See, all the saints ought to be glad

  677. to lay aside their sinful desires in order to clothe

  678. ourselves with the nature that pleases God. You see, when

  679. we put on that nature, all we're saying is, God,

  680. we want to please you, Lord. God, we want our

  681. life to give you glory. God, we want our life

  682. to speak to the loss of this world. God, we

  683. want to illuminate when we come into dark places. God,

  684. we want to shine so bright that the heathen, the sinner,

  685. is going to walk what you have given us. Amen? So,

  686. We ought to be glad to lay aside those sinful

  687. desires in order to clothe ourselves with the nature that

  688. pleases God. Amen. We want to be like Jesus. And

  689. to be like Jesus, that should be your choice. Everybody,

  690. you see, God created all of us. I heard a

  691. person say God didn't call us all. Yes, he has. See,

  692. when people say stuff like that, they don't know God. God,

  693. they're looking at a wicked, evil person. God ain't called him. Yeah,

  694. he has. God has called all of us into the

  695. plan of salvation. He didn't call that little kid. He

  696. didn't call that teenager right there because he's strictly just

  697. cutting up sideways. God still called him. It's about us

  698. receiving the call. It's about us accepting the call. Amen.

  699. He's called us all. into the plan of salvation. Why?

  700. If he had not called us, then the Bible's a lie.
