  1. Revelation chapter 21 and beginning at verse 9.

    Revelation 21 chapter mention

  2. Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full

  3. of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, come, I will

  4. show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.

  5. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great high mountain and

  6. showed me the holy city, Jerusalem.

  7. Coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God, its

  8. radiance, like a most rare jewel, like a Jasper, clear as crystal.

  9. It had a great high wall with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve

  10. angels.

  11. And on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of

  12. Israel were inscribed.

  13. On the east, three gates, on the north, three gates, on the south,

  14. three gates.

  15. And on the west, three gates.

  16. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations.

  17. And on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the

  18. Lamb.

  19. And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure

  20. the city and its gates and walls.

  21. The city lies four square, its length the same as its width.

  22. And he measured the city with his rod.

  23. 12,000 stadia.

  24. Its length and width and height are equal.

  25. He also measured its wall 144 cubits by human measurement, which

  26. is also an angel's measurement.

  27. The wall was built of Jasper, while the city was pure gold, like

  28. clear glass.

  29. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every

  30. kind of jewelry.

  31. The first was Jasper.

  32. The second was sapphire.

  33. The third, agate.

  34. The fourth, emerald.

  35. The fifth, onyx.

  36. The sixth, carnelian.

  37. The seventh, chrysalate.

  38. The eighth, beryl.

  39. The ninth, topaz.

  40. The tenth chrysopras.

  41. The eleventh jacinth.

  42. The twelfth amethyst.

  43. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates

  44. made of a single pearl.

  45. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

  46. And I saw no temple in the city.

  47. For its temple is the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb.

  48. And the city had no need of sun or moon to shine on it.

  49. For the glory of God gives it light.

  50. And its lamp is the Lamb.

  51. By its light will the nations walk.

  52. And the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.

  53. And its gates will never be shut by day, and there will be no

  54. night.

  55. There they will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations.

  56. But nothing unclean will ever enter it.

  57. Not anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those

  58. who are written.

  59. The Lamb's book of Life.

  60. Amen.

  61. This is the word of God.

  62. Well, for those of you who find yourself here on a regular basis,

  63. I hope that by now you will know that before I went into ministry,

  64. I worked in tourism.

  65. Tourism is the business of fun.

  66. I didn't get much fun and it was all business, but.

  67. But you had to work hard because you had lots of people coming

  68. your way.

  69. And it was always quite repetitive because one of the jobs

  70. that I had to do was a tour guide.

  71. I loved it and I took people around Armagh City either on bus

  72. tours or walking tours, and I've even offered to groups in the

  73. church to take them to Armagh and still give them a guided tour.

  74. But strangely enough, no one has ever taken me up on that offer.

  75. Well, I would take groups around Armas City and tell them of

  76. the Georgian history and architecture, or in the place where

  77. I worked, St. Patrick's tree.

  78. And I would explain the history of the centre of the city,

  79. going back into the early Christian settlements that were there

  80. with the coming of Patrick the missionary to Ireland.

  81. But particularly on walking tours, as we would go round the street

  82. corners, visitors would see hidden gems or amazing Georgian architecture,

  83. and you would see their faces beam with their discovery.

  84. Particularly for our friends that come across the Atlantic from

  85. America, they hadn't seen architecture like this and so prolific,

  86. just one building after the next.

  87. And they were just in awe of the architecture of these buildings

  88. and what was commonplace and familiar to me because I passed it

  89. every day was new and it was fresh to someone else.

  90. I suppose in one sense, it's much like being taken on a viewing

  91. of a home.

  92. You phone the estate agent and you say, I'm interested.

  93. And you arrange a time to go and see this house that you find

  94. there's anticipation of seeing what could be your future.

  95. Only when viewing a potential home, you start to think of what

  96. life would be like living there and what would fit in this

  97. room or in another.

  98. And before you know it, you've started finding yourself living in

  99. that place long before you've made an offer or anything like that.

  100. But so much of revelation has been about what John sees.

  101. Yes, of course, he hears, but he sees.

  102. It's a vision that's been given to him.

  103. And we have the advantage and the privilege of having it all written

  104. down for us.

  105. And we can read it again and again, but for him, it was new and

  106. an amazing sight.

  107. And this evening we come to what John sees in the New Jerusalem.

  108. Last week, as we looked at the start of chapter 21, we saw the new

  109. heaven and the new earth.

  110. Excuse me, the new earth.

  111. And verse one is such an amazing verse to read because it

  112. says, then I saw a new heaven and A new earth for the first heaven

  113. and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

  114. John sees everything new.

  115. And in this newness, he sees Jerusalem, a new Jerusalem coming

  116. down.

  117. Let's remind ourselves how he described it in verse two.

  118. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven

  119. from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

  120. It seems today we've spoken a lot of images that go throughout

  121. Scripture, and here's another one, as we mentioned last week.

  122. One of those other familiar images of what God's the relationship

  123. between God and his people is like is between the bride and the

  124. bridegroom, with Christ being the bridegroom.

  125. And now we see the bride adorned for her husband.

  126. And it might be strange to us that the bride is actually the city.

  127. Now, all too often we've recognized the bride as the church,

  128. his people.

  129. But now the image is given to John that the bride is this new Jerusalem.

  130. And so we get to see now, in verses 9 to 27, greater detail of

  131. what this new Jerusalem is like and the significant details

  132. that are there for us.

  133. And the first person that we come to is one of the angels holding

  134. the seven bowls from chapters 15.

  135. But this time he shows John a beautiful and entrancing vision,

  136. summoning him to come to see the bride, the wife of the lamb.

  137. And earlier, John had referred to the bride and the marriage supper

  138. of the lamb in chapter 19 and compared the new Jerusalem to a bride

  139. dressed for her husband.

  140. He now sees the church as a bride of unrivaled beauty as he sees

  141. Jerusalem before him and what and how it is built.

  142. And so verse 10 tells us that John is carried away in the Spirit

  143. and has a high vantage point from a mountain looking down so he

  144. can see what is before him.

  145. And recorded for us.

  146. And as in verse two of this chapter, the new Jerusalem is linked

  147. with the people of God because once again, the city designates both

  148. a people and a place.

  149. Everything said about Jerusalem and Zion in the Old Testament

  150. is fulfilled in the heavenly Jerusalem, the city where God dwells.

  151. And this city stands in contrast to the other city in Revelation

  152. that we've been looking at, that city of Babylon, the harlot

  153. city which John was earlier carried away in the Spirit to see.

  154. And in contrast, in contrast to the harlot, to the prostitute,

  155. Jerusalem is clean and holy and stunningly beautiful.

  156. Beautiful, not a prostitute, but a faithful bride.

  157. Listen to how verse 11 describes the beauty of the city

  158. having the glory of God, its radiance, like a most rare jewel,

  159. like a Jasper, Clear as crystal.

  160. Tonight.

  161. I want you to understand the sheer beauty heaven.

  162. Heaven is not an eternal church service where after 45 minutes,

  163. you start to feel your back getting sore because of our wooden

  164. pews.

  165. It's not going to be a place where you're up and down because

  166. of singing hymns.

  167. There'll be no more hymn books.

  168. There'll be no more PowerPoint.

  169. There'll be no more concern if the electricity is going to stay

  170. on for us.

  171. Heaven is truly beautiful and stunning, and it is unlike anything

  172. this earth can ever offer.

  173. A number of weeks ago, I told you that I grew up with a picture

  174. at home simply called Paradise.

  175. And in many ways, it looked like a place in Tuscany.

  176. It had a beautiful patio on which you walked out onto.

  177. You saw a pavement of gold and you saw gardens that were beautiful

  178. and you saw a still river just going down.

  179. That, for me, growing up, was the best image that one artist could

  180. provide to paradise.

  181. But as we read chapter 21, we discover God's word far outshines

  182. whatever we can imagine heaven to be.

  183. See the beauty of heaven.

  184. This heavenly Jerusalem is breathtaking.

  185. It shimmers quite literally with the glory of God.

  186. Its radiance and its quite literally loveliness are comparable

  187. to jewels of exquisite color and brightness.

  188. The city is like a rare piece of Jasper and shines as clear as

  189. crystal.

  190. In verses 12 and 13, John continues to describe the city, telling

  191. us that it has a massive high wall and it has 12 gates.

  192. And in the ancient world, a wall protected a city from enemies.

  193. So this high wall symbolizes the city's safety from all enemies.

  194. And this is good news for God's people as they finally have

  195. the city of refuge that they have sung about in the Psalms all

  196. their days.

  197. They know complete security and complete safety in God's presence.

  198. And John continues to tell us that the Wall also has 12 gates,

  199. three each on the east, north, south and west.

  200. And this is a clear picture of what Jesus tells us in Luke chapter

  201. 13:29, where the people from the north, the east, the south and

  202. the west will enter the kingdom as they know salvation in

  203. Jesus Christ.

  204. This is what Jesus says in.

  205. In Luke 13.

  206. And people will come from east and west and from north and south,

  207. and recline a table in the kingdom of God.

  208. And listen out for this whenever I invite you to come to

  209. this table next Sunday morning that is open to the nations coming

  210. from the east and the west and from the north and from the south,

  211. invited to come to this table here and now, but to the heavenly

  212. city and that is the urgency of mission.

  213. It is the urgency of why we still must go and still must support

  214. God's work across the world so that the untold millions will hear

  215. the good news of the gospel and come to salvation.

  216. Did you know that there are still people groups yet undiscovered?

  217. As soon as or as early as 26 years ago, a MAF pilot was flying

  218. over Ayan Jarra, part of what is now Indonesia, and happened to

  219. see just some huts in the year 2000.

  220. And 26 years later, after first contact, there is now an established

  221. church amongst those people, the Moi people of Ayinjara.

  222. And they have elders and they have just dedicated a full New Testament.

  223. There are still unreached people who must hear the good news

  224. of the Gospel so that those from the north, the south, the east

  225. and the west will come to know the Savior.

  226. And it's not just far away.

  227. We have people groups on this island who know nothing of what it

  228. means to trust in the Savior.

  229. They're blind and they're in darkness and they too must hear.

  230. For this is a city that is open to the nations to find their

  231. refuge and salvation in Christ and in him alone.

  232. And at the gates of These cities are 12 angels, again suggesting

  233. the city is protected from anything that would destroy it.

  234. And on the gates are inscribed the names of the 12 tribes of Israel.

  235. And the number 12 tells us that the Old Testament people of

  236. God are in the city.

  237. The promise that Israel would be restored has been fulfilled in

  238. the people of God.

  239. And the grafting of Jew and Gentile are shown here now in the

  240. presence of Jesus Christ in the eternal city.

  241. And the number 12 continues as we're told in verse 14.

  242. For there we read that the city has 12 foundations.

  243. And engraved on each of them are the names of the 12 apostles.

  244. And in Ephesians, chapter 2 and verse 20, Paul calls the apostles

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  245. and New Testament prophets the foundation of God's new temple, the

  246. cornerstone of the church of Jesus Christ.

  247. And so John is likewise teaching that the one people of God

  248. is grounded on the apostolic testimony.

  249. There are not two separate ways of belonging to God, one for

  250. Israel and another for the church in Christ believing Jews and

  251. Gentiles are brought together as one people of God.

  252. As the promises of the new covenant reach their glorious fulfillment,

  253. there is yet a salvation conclusion for the Jews that we are

  254. not fully aware of.

  255. And Paul teaches us this in Romans chapter 11 and verses 25 and

    Romans 11 chapter mention

  256. 25.

  257. That is still to come.

  258. But here we see in John's vision the final conclusion of the

  259. full people of God in the new Jerusalem, with a foundation that

  260. is built on the testimony and witness of Jesus Christ.

  261. And verse 15 moves to a different view.

  262. And the angel now has a measuring rod in his hand to measure

  263. the city.

  264. This measuring rod is made of gold.

  265. And he measures the gates and the walls.

  266. And verses 16 and 17 tell us the measurements of this city.

  267. The city lies four square, its length the same as its width.

  268. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.

  269. Its length and width and height are equal.

  270. He also measured its wall 144 cubits by human measurement, which

  271. is also an angel's measurement.

  272. Now, if you're a person who likes facts and figures, well, then

  273. this probably fascinates you.

  274. But there is significance in what we're reading.

  275. The city is built foursquare, having the same length and width.

  276. And when measured, this city, we're told, is 12,000 stadia.

  277. The size of the city dwarfs any conceivable city that is known

  278. to humankind and is far larger than the country of Israel itself.

  279. In other words, John is not saying that the city is literally

  280. 1500 miles as some have measured it.

  281. Instead, he's communicating that the city is a perfect place

  282. to reside.

  283. This symbolic nature is evident from the next phrase.

  284. For the city is a perfect cube.

  285. Its length, width, and height are equal.

  286. And this reminds us, or should remind us of the most holy place

  287. in the temple, which was also a perfect cube.

  288. First Kings, chapter 6 and verse 20 tells us 20 cubits long,

    1 Kings 6 chapter mention

  289. 20 cubits wide, and 20 cubits high.

  290. So this tells us that the city is literally.

  291. Is not literally 1500 miles, but that it is like a massive, most

  292. holy place, the place where God dwells.

  293. And so the city is where God dwells.

  294. The entire universe is like the whole.

  295. The most holy place of the temple.

  296. You see the Old Testament foretelling of what the new heavens

  297. and the new earth, the new city Jerusalem will be like.

  298. God had it designed perfectly in the tabernacle and into the temple

  299. so that we would know that when we go to be with him, it is

  300. truly his place of dwelling and it is a holy place.

  301. Now, John goes on to say that the wall is 144 cubits by human measurement,

  302. but it's also the measurement of an angel.

  303. Now, referring to the measurement of an angel, we might

  304. think is very strange.

  305. Why would he need to say this?

  306. Well, John doesn't expect us to say, well, of course that makes

  307. sense.

  308. It's the measure angels use, because none of us would be aware

  309. of that.

  310. Instead, by appealing to the measurement employed by angels, he

  311. is signaling to us, his readers, that this is symbolism,

  312. for none of us knows angelic measurements.

  313. The great height or thickness of the wall symbolizes absolute safety

  314. and security.

  315. No one can breach or get over the top of this wall.

  316. The city is a walled city, like most cities in the ancient world,

  317. and is therefore impregnable.

  318. It is a place of safety for us and pause for a moment because we

  319. live in a world that is full of trouble.

  320. All you have to do is read the newspaper.

  321. All you have to do is watch the news or go onto social media.

  322. And you have one side, particularly here in Northern Ireland,

  323. pitting themselves against another.

  324. And there's a cry of hypocrisy of all political parties against

  325. the other.

  326. This world is a troubling place.

  327. It's hard to find safety, it's hard to find security in a physical

  328. place.

  329. Even our homes can be places of distress.

  330. But yet we're shown a picture here this evening that should give

  331. us hope.

  332. It should give us glorious hope that there is a place to which

  333. we can go to where we won't have to worry about fractured relationships,

  334. where we won't have to worry about sickness or disease, where

  335. there won't be tears or sadness or sorrow, because it is

  336. the place where the most holy dwells.

  337. It is quite literally his home.

  338. It is beautifully stunning, and as Jesus tells us, he has gone

  339. there to get it ready for us.

  340. O troubled soul, take heart this night, that this journey won't

  341. be long until we are in Christ, fully there, and knowing

  342. the safety and security of this place that we will call home.

  343. And as much as we look at the walls of this city and their strength

  344. and the security and refuge they bring, verses 18 to 21 describe

  345. for us the materials that are used in the building of the city,

  346. its walls, its foundations and its gates.

  347. And they're all precious, precious stones.

  348. In verse 18, we're told that the wall was built with pure Jasper

  349. and the city was pure gold.

  350. And the added description that's given to us is the gold is

  351. like pure glass.

  352. Now, this was something that John's readers would have been unable

  353. to understand because glass, for them, as little of it as there

  354. was, would have been dull because the process required to make

  355. it pure was time consuming and costly.

  356. And really, they didn't have the technology for it, so they always

  357. looked at glass and it was dull.

  358. Both the wall and the city, by being described this way in a way

  359. that the people of John's Day couldn't even imagine is telling

  360. us of how indescribably beautiful this city is, glimmering,

  361. gleaming, shimmering with his beauty.

  362. And those who dwell in the city will be ennobled by its superb

  363. artistry, its craftsmanship, its eye catching splendor.

  364. Because the city itself reflects the glory and the beauty

  365. of God.

  366. And why wouldn't it?

  367. Don't we all craft our homes and decorate them by our own choice

  368. and our own preferences?

  369. And so how much more God does it not for his own glory in one sense,

  370. but that his glory might be seen by us, and that we around us

  371. will see his beauty at every corner.

  372. And the foundations of the walls are now described to us in

  373. the stones used for the 12 foundations.

  374. And as we read the list in verses 19 to 21, we're once again

  375. shown the beauty of the city.

  376. And it echoes Isaiah's description of future Jerusalem.

  377. And for he says in Isaiah 54, 11, 12, I will set your stones in

  378. antimony and lay your foundation with sapphires.

  379. I will make your pinnacles of agate, your gates of carbuncles,

  380. and all your wall of precious stones.

  381. And the stones that are given to us, there are 12 of them.

  382. For the 12 foundations are supposed to remind God's people that

  383. they're the same stones that are on the high Priest's grave breastplate.

  384. So therefore they're symbolizing the tribes of Israel

  385. whom the high Priest represented before the Lord.

  386. And each gate of the city is made of a single pearl, and the streets

  387. are of gold, comparable to what we've described as transparent

  388. glass, which would have been unknown in John's day.

  389. And so these symbols communicate the perfection of the

  390. new creation, the glory of God in it, and the purity of his people.

  391. And so, as we come to the last verses of this chapter, we're shown

  392. how different this Jerusalem is from the Jerusalem known in John's

  393. or to John's readers.

  394. Verse 22 tells us, and I saw no temple in the city, for its temple

  395. is the Lord, God, the Almighty and the Lamb.

  396. It's quite striking that he sees no temple in the city.

  397. For John's day, and even for Jews today, the Temple was the centerpiece

  398. of the city.

  399. It was a city on a hill, but it was lit by the lamps of that temple

  400. to be a light to the nations.

  401. But there is no temple now.

  402. And instead of the temple, there is Almighty God and the Lamb,

  403. you may recall in the image of the new creation in chapter seven

  404. and verse 15, John had said that believers serve God day and

  405. night in his temple.

  406. And so we have no contradiction here.

  407. The whole new creation is God's temple, in which his people

  408. serve almighty God and the Lamb as they abide together.

  409. And if you'll recall a few weeks ago, the whole point of seeing

  410. this is about Eden restored.

  411. For Eden was the place where God walked with Adam and Eve.

  412. It was the place of perfection and holiness as they worshiped him

  413. and lived for him.

  414. And so Eden restored is now what we have.

  415. For God's presence is there.

  416. It is his temple.

  417. And therefore no physical temple, as would be known to John's

  418. readers, is required.

  419. Verse 23 tells us more of what there's not.

  420. We're told that there's no need for the sun nor the moon to

  421. shine, and the reason being that the glory of God is enough.

  422. It's his radiance that shines as we gaze on his perfect holiness.

  423. And throughout the book, we've seen the sun being reduced at different

  424. times, demonstrating punishment on sinful and rebellious

  425. humanity.

  426. But now there is no fear of this punishment, because God is all

  427. we need to sustain us, to give us the light we need.

  428. And verses 24 to 25 tell us by its light will the nations walk,

  429. and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.

  430. And its gates will never be shut by day, and there will be no

  431. night there.

  432. Now, we've already seen in this chapter that the gates of the

  433. new Jerusalem are on all four sides of the city, allowing for the

  434. nations to come in.

  435. Now we're told of their entry into the city.

  436. Everyone in the heavenly city will be illuminated and strengthened

  437. by the Lord.

  438. The kings of the nations will also bring their glory into the city.

  439. John is here saying that every good and beautiful thing from the

  440. old creation will be in the new creation.

  441. Nothing of beauty will be lost.

  442. Instead it will be present in a perfected and incorruptible way.

  443. But the greatest news is the sanctuary this city provides as its

  444. gates are never shut.

  445. Ancient cities closed their gates for security reasons, but in

  446. this city there is no need.

  447. The imagery speaks of peace and blessing in the city in which

  448. God's glory shines.

  449. And as the chapter finishes, we read this in verse 27.

  450. But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what

  451. is detestable or false, but only those who are written.

  452. In the Lamb's Book of life you see everything good and nothing defiled,

  453. or anyone who does what is detestable or false will be in the

  454. city.

  455. This is a warning.

  456. There are many Old Testament prophecies that say that nothing

  457. unclean will be present when God brings His kingdom.

  458. Isaiah 30:5 looks forward to return from exile and the coming

    Isaiah 30:5

  459. of the kingdom, declaring that the unclean will not be on the highway

  460. to Zion.

  461. No one uncircumcised or unclean will enter the city of God.

  462. Joel also promises that in the day of the Lord, Jerusalem will be

  463. holy and strangers will not enter.

  464. Only those whose names are inscribed in the Lamb's Book of Life

  465. will be in the city.

  466. They will enter the gates of the city because they have washed

  467. their robes in the blood of the Lamb.

  468. They have trusted in Jesus and know the forgiveness of their sins

  469. as they live for him here on earth, awaiting his return and the

  470. fullness of his glory.

  471. In 1892, a new song called the Holy City was written.

  472. And for us it has been made most famous and through the singing

  473. of Sir Harry Seacombe.

  474. And this is what its closing verse and chorus say.

  475. And once again the scene was changed.

  476. New earth there seemed to be.

  477. I saw the Holy City beside the tideless sea the light of God was

  478. on its streets the gates were open wide and all who would might

  479. enter in and no one was denied.

  480. No need of moon or stars by night or sun to shine by day.

  481. It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.

  482. It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.

  483. And then the chorus Jerusalem, Jerusalem, sing For the night is

  484. o' er hosanna in the highest Hosanna forevermore.

  485. Isn't Revelation 21 a wonderful sight?

  486. This is the city of Eternal Promise for those who trust in the

  487. Lord, those whose names are inscribed in the Lamb's Book of Life,

  488. and who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb.

  489. This is the city of Eternal Promise.

  490. And if you are eagerly awaiting it.

  491. And by the way, I've seen some people smile as it's been described

  492. around the building this evening.

  493. And that is lovely to see.

  494. And you are eagerly awaiting it.

  495. Don't give up in your wait.

  496. It is coming.

  497. But make sure that your name is written in the Lamb's Book of

  498. life, for we once again have been warned.

  499. And do you see what God is doing with this as he gives it to

  500. John?

  501. He is giving us every opportunity to repent of sin, that

  502. while there is still time, we can come to the Savior for salvation.

  503. You see, tonight you have been shown what your new home could look

  504. like if you trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins.

  505. In one respect, it's house viewing.

  506. And for some of us, it is our home.

  507. But for others, it could be, trust in Christ and be assured of

  508. life eternal in the new Jerusalem that is stunning in its

  509. beauty, in its refuge, and in its peace.

  510. For this is what Jesus says in John, chapter 5 and verse 24.

    John 5 chapter mention

  511. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my words and believes

  512. him who sent me has eternal life.

  513. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death

  514. to life.

  515. This is what we're seeing in Revelation 21, and that promise fulfilled

  516. for the people of God.

  517. But as we finish, let me remind you of what it is.

  518. And once again the scene was changed.

  519. New earth there seemed to be.

  520. I saw the holy city beside the tideless sea.

  521. The light of God was on its streets.

  522. The gates were open wide, and all who would might enter in.

  523. And no one was denied.

  524. Revelation 21 assures us that this night the gates are open wide

  525. for those from the north, the east, the south and the west.

  526. For those who live against the shore of Anna Long, or up in the

  527. mountains to the north towards Newcastle or the south through Ballymarton

  528. to Kilkeel, the gates are open wide for each of us to know this

  529. as our home.

  530. So why will you settle for anything less than what we're told,

  531. where God's people will join in eternal praise of his name and

  532. we will know his goodness.

  533. Please respond well to Jesus this night.

  534. Go out with great hope in a city that is yours and in a savior

  535. this night that you can know for all eternity.

  536. Let us pray.

  537. Our Father God, we thank you for the vision that we're given here

  538. in Revelation, a vision that we smile at because we know it to

  539. be our eternal home when we place our trust in Jesus.

  540. So may we cry the amen with the heavenly Host that it is done.

  541. And give to the Lamb upon the throne the blessing and honor and

  542. glory and power that is due his name.

  543. For he has won.

  544. He has conquered.

  545. And so with every tribe and every tongue, we join the anthem

  546. of the angels in the triumph of the Son as we declare hallelujah.

  547. And so, Father, may we respond to Christ.

  548. And may we know this heavenly city to be ours.

  549. And may we be eager for others to know it as well, so that they

  550. too will come and put their trust in.

  551. In the Savior.

  552. And it's in Jesus name we pray.

  553. Amen.
