  1. Hagi. Hagi won in the second year of Durias the King.

  2. In the sixth month, on the first day of the month,

  3. the word of the Lord came by the hand of

  4. Hagi the Prophet to Zerubbabole, the son of Schieltio, governor

  5. of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadakh, the

  6. high Priest.

  7. Thus says the Lord of Hosts.

  8. These people say, the time has not yet come to

  9. rebuild the house of the Lord.

  10. Then the word of the Lord came by the hand

  11. of Hagi the Prophet.

  12. Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in

  13. your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins? Now Therefore,

  14. thus says the Lord of Hosts, consider your ways. You

  15. have sown much and harvested little. You eat, but you

  16. never have enough. You drink, but you never have your fill.

  17. You clothe your but no one is warm, And he

  18. who earns wages does so to put them into a

  19. bag with holes. Thus says the Lord of Hosts. Consider

  20. your ways. Go up to the hills and bring wood

  21. and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it,

  22. and that I may be glorified, says the Lord. You

  23. looked for much, and behold it came to little. And

  24. when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why,

  25. declares the Lord of Hosts, because of my house that

  26. lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with

  27. his own house. Therefore, the heavens above you have withheld

  28. the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. And

  29. I have called for a drought on the land and

  30. the hills, on the grain, the new wine, the oil,

  31. on what the ground brings forth, on man and beast,

  32. and on all their labors.

  33. Then Zerubbable the son of Schieltio, and Joshua, the son

  34. of Jehosahdah the High Priest, with all the res of

  35. the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God

  36. and the words of Hagi the prophet, as the Lord

  37. their God had sent him, and the people feared the Lord.

  38. Then Hagi, the messenger of the Lord, spoke to the

  39. people with the Lord's message.

  40. I am with you, declares the Lord.

  41. And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabo, the

  42. son of Schiltio, Governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua,

  43. the son of Jehosedah, the High Priest and the spirit

  44. of all the remnant of the people. And they came

  45. and worked on the house of the Lord of Hosts,

  46. their God, on the twenty fourth day of the month

  47. in the sixth month, in the second year of Drias

  48. the king Hagi two in the seventh month, on the

  49. twenty first day of the month, the word of the

  50. Lord came by the hand of Hagai the prophet.

  51. Speak now, Tserabbabo, the son of Chi'atiyo, Governor of Judah,

  52. and to Joshua, the son of Johosedac, the High Priest,

  53. and to all the remnant of the people, and say, who.

  54. Is left among you who saw this house in its

  55. former glory? How do you see it now? Is it

  56. not as nothing? In your eyes? Yet? Now be strong, Ozerabable,

  57. declares the Lord, be strong, Oh, Joshua, son of Jehosedac,

  58. the High Priest, be strong, all you people of the land,

  59. declares the Lord work.

  60. For I am with you, declares the Lord of Hosts.

  61. According to the covenant that I made with you when

  62. you came out of Egypt, My spirit remains in your midst.

  63. Fear not, for thus says the Lord of Hosts. Yet

  64. once more, in a little while, I will shake the

  65. heavens and the earth, from the sea and the dry land.

  66. And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures

  67. of all nations shall come in. And I will fill

  68. this house with glory, says the Lord of Hosts. The

  69. silver is mine and the gold is mine, declares the

  70. Lord of Hosts. The latter glory of this house shall

  71. be greater than the former, says the Lord of Hosts.

  72. And in this place I will give peace, declares the

  73. Lord of Hosts.

  74. On the twenty fourth day of the ninth month, in

  75. the second year of Derius, the word of the Lord

  76. came by Haggi the prophet.

  77. Thus says the Lord of Hosts, ask the priests about

  78. the law. If someone carries holy meat in the fold

  79. of his garment and touches with his fold bread or stew,

  80. or wine, or oil or any kind of food, does

  81. it become holy?

  82. The priests answered and said no. Then Haggai said.

  83. If someone who is unclean by contact with a dead

  84. body touches any of these, does it bec come unclean.

  85. The priests answered and said it does become unclean. Then

  86. hag I answered and said.

  87. So is it with this people? And with this nation

  88. before me, declares the Lord. And so with every work

  89. of their hands, and what they offer there is unclean. Now, then, consider,

  90. from this day onward, before stone was placed upon stone

  91. in the temple of the Lord, how did you fare?

  92. When one came to a heap of twenty measures, there

  93. were but ten. When one came to the wine vat

  94. to draw fifty measures, there were but twenty. I struck

  95. you in all the products of your toil, with light

  96. and with mildew, and with hail, Yet you did not

  97. turn to me, declares the Lord. Consider from this day onward,

  98. from the twenty fourth day of the ninth month, since

  99. the day that the foundation of the Lord's temple was laid,

  100. consider is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine,

  101. the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have

  102. yielded nothing.

  103. But from this day on I will bless you.

  104. The word of the Lord came a second time to

  105. Hagi on the twenty fourth day of the month.

  106. Speak to zerubbable, governor of Judah, saying, I am about

  107. to shake the heavens and the earth, and to overthrow

  108. the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the

  109. strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the

  110. chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders

  111. shall go down everyone by the sword of his brother

  112. on that day, declares the Lord of Hosts.

  113. I will take you, oh zerubable, my servant.

  114. The son of Shealtield, declares the Lord, and make you

  115. like a signet ring. For I have chosen you, declares

  116. the Lord of Hosts.
