Good morning, one second. Good morning. I have an announcement. We have a slight change to the mission calendar for the year.

On September 11th we are going to do a youth jam. Youth jam is being postponed so in its place on the same day at the same time we will do a Baptist school bash block party.

Okay, sounds like a plan. Real quick, a couple of requests. Folks are having some stuff. Jason Wellington texted this morning.

He was in the middle of, he took a job that was supposed to be done early this morning. They start really early where he works like 6 a.m.

He was supposed to be done in time to be here and he texted this morning saying he is stuck on the job and can't get here.

So he has to pray for him and at the same time pray because he has been having frequent migraines. So pray for his migraines if you would.

And then Monica, Monica Smith was going to be with us today. She is Ryan's boss' mother.

Ryan was with us at camp and I was picking him up this morning and she texted this morning and said they have family emergencies and they couldn't be here.

So I don't know what is going on exactly but I know what the situation is and I have to pray for them.

And then I am going to call some names in the neighborhood. So it is Gail Lucinski of 25 Star, Rolanda and Michael Lopez of 364 Gessner,

Richard and Karen Murphy of 358 Gessner, Bud Limbach of 356 Gessner and Charles Poonin of 350 Gessner Street.

So we pray together and I will cross in this with it and we will come back in a little bit.

Father in heaven we are grateful. We have lots of reasons, lots of blessings to count, too many.

Or we would get wrapped up in it if we went after it and it would last so long.

It might need a little help from a friend to remind us just how blessed we are.

But we are grateful for your Holy Spirit in us that you remind us how blessed we are.

Father we ask you to help us today as well. I am struggling a little bit with the hoarse voice still left over from camp.

I pray that that doesn't slow me down.

Yesterday all day my mind was kind of foggy from five nights of more than half hour sleep.

It was a good time, it was a blessed time. I thank you so much to the young men who live the life of Christ.

I pray for Jason's migraines or whatever was causing it.

We are certainly able to heal it and take care of it.

Other health concerns I pray for are the hands of the Lord.

Sister Dean's gone going fast. I pray for her marriage situation and all things that are going through there.

I thank you Lord that Mike is with us today, that Carter is with us today.

He's walking because there was a moment in time in which he just couldn't and now he can't.

So I'm grateful for that.

I thank you for the desire for us to help students as they go back to school and just kind of get excited.

We help them get excited about it.

I want to thank you for what's going on with Mike.

First your football team, Tyler's football team and all the initiatives that we do there.

Thank you for the rice station, for the buses there that allow us to serve so many people all over the city to go with food.

And be such a positive witness for Christ.

At the same time we do all glory and ask you to take over the service and help us to sing boldly.

And we make it for someone who doesn't normally sing.

We'll help you sing boldly today, help them praise you today, help them put you in their minds eye which is where you already are, which is on the truck.

Watch over Jason's heart as he's stuck at work and can't be here.

He says we'll be watching as much as we can.

I want to thank Joe and Miss Chris for help back in Denny Vickens.

We know that there's a lot of folks that we can hang.

But I thank you for the good reports about James' mom.

I just pray that they become a reality and that she just wants it for all pretty clear.

I just say take these things.

They could plague us, they could hunt us, they could distract us.

I want to ask the Lord to let them be in your hands.

Father, this must have been a home verse.

In John 3.16, you know you loved us so much that you sent your son.

John is lost for us.

If you would just believe, maybe you'd have a channel like it.

We know there are people on these blocks.

We don't know if the names of the call today, how many might be among them that do not know Jesus.

We know that there by statistics there are literally millions of people in the world who don't know Jesus.

That's an incredible thing.

Whatever part we can play.

This goes out on the internet.

We'll touch the heart of the poor girl at school.

We're going to help more and more and more poor people.

We pray all these things.

I was about to say I was going to stop before someone did it.

I have some other videos, some other pictures and stuff,

I just wanted to give you an idea of what happens when you do this.

Basically, you do this.

So, I've had a couple of experiences where I've gone to camp with kids or with youth.

The last time I went to camp before this, we went to Camp Iyoka in Fidget Forest, Tennessee.

I was some teenager, some of those teenagers are now in here and married and have kids or whatever.

But when we were there, one of the things that struck me was that the people that I went with,

and they weren't all from our church, again, I was just a couple of them from our church,

the people I went with really stood out at camp.

And so then I get the last day, you know, so-and-so, like Amalia,

they're so mature, they're so grown up in the Lord, they know so much about God or whatever.

And that's kind of humbling to me because in case you haven't looked around,

we're not a really big church when it comes to numbers, more like that.

But we believe in the God of the universe and Jesus is Lord, and we are learning what the Bible says.

So that's what this camp was like. Caleb and Jason showed up in a huge way.

It wasn't just them. Ryan was huge. Javier was huge.

Javier got a bunch of votes for outstanding overall camper.

He didn't win, but he got a bunch of votes for that.

And Ryan and Chris who rode with us and even Dave, and Dave had some difficulty with like,

for the time where he didn't want to work the program, like he didn't want to participate,

we had to have him over here or whatever because he got a little bit of a value spirit time and stuff.

But everybody that went with us just really, God really did a thing.

I don't know why that is. And then Jason, okay, share your trophy.

Jason got outstanding camper in the area of fundamentals or foundation.

And what that basically looked like was from day one, every time there was a question,

you know, we'd see if the answer was right. We would try.

In 99% of the time, they were right, you know.

And Caleb was the same way. They both would raise their hand. They would try to answer.

And at one point in time, who was up there when you, was it Lawrence Spunderberg was up there talking

and he first got up, I don't remember, it might have been Doug Worley.

Anyway, he's up there talking and Doug was trying to get the kids involved.

And Jason raised his hand and said, you know, I want to read a verse.

And he literally got up next to Doug, read the verse, explained what it meant.

And then my going lasts about three minutes.

Explained what it meant and then told people what they should do about it.

Like a mini sermon in three minutes. And Doug was just like,

his jaw just dropped. I mean, he couldn't do that.

And I'm not trying to build Jason up. It's Jesus, right, Jason?

Not Jason, it's Jesus. Okay.

And so we have been blessed as a church. And this is an example.

Now campus paid for in part by cooperative program funds.

That campus maintained in part by cooperative program funds.

It means we give, when you give your tithes and offerings,

they go to the cooperative program, that portion of it that we vote on,

how much we get when we give some to the program, that maintains the camp.

So they have other camps. We were the eighth camp this year.

And everybody that was in that camp was young boys between the ages of nine and 13.

I think they might have had eight, 14, or older. Nine and 13, really.

And so if they can't keep it going, they want to.

And if they can't keep it going, it's going to be an every year thing,

an every year opportunity. And none of our boys paid, none of the boys,

like Ryan, his mom couldn't pay for him to go.

And so there's only boys that there's no way, I say no way,

that God can do anything I know. But they didn't need to do that.

They didn't need to break themselves up really hard. And they got to come.

Now I'll ask you to pray for a young boy named Teddy Ruffin,

who was supposed to go with us. And he was sick.

I haven't heard. She thought it, they thought it wasn't COVID,

but he was very sick the day before we were supposed to go.

And she shared with me that she really, really wanted him to go,

because they haven't hardly been out of the house in a year and a half.

And so we forget, as blessed as we are to be here in worship,

blessed as we are to be here in participate, go to camp,

do our block parties, all this kind of stuff, there are still people,

it's a much smaller percent now, but there are still people that are

hiding in their home, terrified. And that's, I'm not trying to be critical

when I say this, but that is the, that's the culmination of the way

the news and the way people are presented, presented all of what's going on

in the world, is that there are a certain percentage of people that are just terrified.

They're afraid to get out, afraid to do anything. They can't make a difference

in anyone else's life, and it's hard for anybody to make a difference

in their life because they are terrified. Okay?

These boys literally walked 20,000 steps a day.

Got out of bed every morning at 6.30 a.m. to do devotionals at 7.

Did no less than two and a half hours of worship every day.

Devotionals, Bible study, motivational speakers, were all Christian based.

Huddles, literally, this was, there was such a thing as a Christian camp

that was grilling home Christian values, Kingdom values,

Godly values, that's what it was. And I believe that any boy

that would come from New Heights would show up and shine and really perform,

and the truth is, it wasn't just Jason Caleb who gave, but it was Chris,

and it was Javier, everybody. And so you tell me, is God working in Toledo

to take three boys who flat out do not know Christ, do not know Jesus,

whatever, and take them to camp and have them behave beautifully

and perform well and accept Christ, but even before they accepted Christ,

they really showed up. And so that's really cool.

And it made Toledo, and especially New Heights, and me,

but I kept saying, no, no, it's Jesus, no, it's God,

I kept saying that all the time, made us look really, really good.

And so to get the opportunity to be involved, great, if not, please do pray.

I would love to see this happen every year, and RJ, I know he'll do the same way,

RJ's broken hearted because he wasn't able to go this year,

but it was really, really cool. And it took me about 36 hours

to get close to recovery because I was literally, yesterday,

about 7 o'clock or so, no, it was maybe 6 o'clock or so,

it was the first time my brain felt semi-normal.

I had to drive three and a half hours back after getting four and a half hours sleep,

I did four days in a row. And so I was doing everything,

and I was fighting falling asleep, and we made it home.

We don't have AC in the church band, it doesn't work,

so we had to turn this down so it was real loud, but it was good,

it was really, really good. And I'm grateful that a lot of the oxygen

and some of you pushed hard to make that happen,

I'm grateful that you did that. Thank you, Brother Tony,

our deacon for showing up for my family, and those who took my lawn,

and all that kind of stuff, because I was blessed real good.

And I think God's going to do some things out of it.

When asked, like, what was the meaning behind that song,

the lead singer, Ryan Clark, had this to say.

Sometimes it can feel like we walk alone in our beliefs and convictions.

Although I know this isn't the case, I'd like to think that if I were the only one remaining person with my perspective,

in the face of adversity, I would stand firm.

The times you feel outnumbered and isolated can be those moments your stance brings the most proof of.

I know I've felt alone sometimes walking through this life.

It's all spiritual warfare.

It's all just an enemy trying to get at you.

You're not alone. You've got brothers and sisters.

And at the head of it all, you've got Christ.

So, you're never alone.

I just want to share a couple of verses with you that go along with this.

And it's really interesting that our last song we played is Live When I Leave.

That's kind of what that song's about, too.

Standing in your convictions.

Second Corinthians 417 says,

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal way of glory.

Stand firm.

Win the race.

Run the race.

Psalm 139, 7 through 10 says,

Where can I go from your spirit?

Or where can I flee from your presence?

If I ascend into heaven, you are there.

If I make my bed in hell, behold, you are there.

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

even there your hand shall lead me and your right hand shall hold me.

So, no matter what happens, whatever persecution they get you,

whatever feelings of doubt or despair come across your mind,

just remember that our God is bigger than any of those feelings, any of those situations,

and He'll always protect you.

And on this side of heaven, He'll always have you back.

But after that, it's heaven.

To the God of the universe, put your soul on his knees

You are amazing, you are an incredible creation

You are able to do more than you could ever dream or think

The main thing that's holding you back is an unruly soul

Even for Christians who love God and their heart loves God and their mind thinks about God and dwells on God

When something gets out of control inside you and affects the way you make your decisions, affects the things that you say

affects whether or not how you feel about God, you start feeling some sort of way that you didn't expect to feel

That's either evil spirits or your soul out of control

Align your innards to God, recognize how awesome he is

How much he deserves your respect

Put your soul on its knees before God

You are going to do this by not forgetting your blessings

Some of that is about thinking about God, it's about focusing on God

It's about doing some prayer or worship or reading the Bible or whatever

Or just stopping and thinking about all the things that God has done in your life to put you where you are today

Some of them would be obviously miraculous

And some of them would be situationally providential, meaning it's just the way it worked out but it seems like God might have been in control

You're pretty sure

And I submit to you that if I were going to define fear of the Lord

In this context, when he says those who fear the Lord, if I were going to define them, I would say it's those who put their soul on its knees before God

And some of them do it by not forgetting God's blessings

But I would definitely not forget God's blessings even if that is by itself not enough to put your soul on its knees before God

You don't forget God's blessings and you realize that there is no counterpoint to God's blessings

That's the problem, when I go, God, man, I'm so blessed, I have a beautiful wife and she loves me

And then I say, but sometimes she irritates me in this way or that, I am listening to the counterpoints of the enemy

That is wrong, and at that moment I should know enough to say I'm not going to do that

I stop that right in its tracks, I rebuke that evil spirit, I just count my blessings, just count, just don't forget my blessings

Just live in light of my blessings and I put my soul on its knees before God

But every time you counterpoint, every time you start thinking that so and so said, so and so did, and it's a reason not to be who you're supposed to be

Not to behave the way you're supposed to be

I hear people say, well he or she made me mad, they didn't make you mad, your unruly soul made you mad

You get mad when your soul is in check and on its knees before God, you will get mad only if and when you decide to

That's the bottom line, and you say, no I've got out of control anger, yeah, it's because your soul is out of control

And you say, well I don't know how to submit my soul, and you can't do it without God's help, that's the bottom line

Now I'm not harping on anger, I'm just using it as an illustration, it's just an illustration

It could be depression, it could be hunger, it could be a desire to collect things, right?

It could be a desire to be a better person, get this, you can try all your life to be a better person

And your soul can go, well I did better, I did better, yeah, I'm doing better, I'm getting better

And the whole time your soul is unruly before God, because instead of saying God made me better

You're saying, I did better, I'm getting better

And you get your soul on its knees before God, and then God will, you know what happens if God unleashes your soul inside you?

Well nothing ever be the same, you will be completely transformed from the inside out

That's the river of living water that Jesus is talking about, it doesn't show up in your brain, it shows up in your soul

But you got a bunch of weeds there maybe, you got a bunch of problems there maybe, you got a bunch of breakouts there maybe

And what you got to do is you got to decide to allow God to be in charge of your soul

And you say, soul, get on your knees before God, the God who created everything including me

The God who is literally in charge of everything including me

The God who gave me everything I have including me

The God who I will be with for an eternity, and you darn well better respect him

Because one day he's going to take me home, and I'm not going to take any crap

You ever been in a situation where you went to somebody's house

And if you're a parent you might recognize this and your kid did something that was a little embarrassing

Or maybe we're a team kid and you're working with a kid and you see a kid do something so embarrassing

And you go, man I can't believe he even did that, I would never, you have to pull him aside

You know what I'm saying, you're not going to do that no more son, friend, you can't do that here, you're not allowed to do that

But we don't do that, but sometimes that's where you got to treat your soul

Next time you're in a situation, maybe you're in one right now, and you know what it is that God wants you to do

And there's something inside you that's saying no, I'm not going to do it because I don't want to think that way

I don't want to appear that way, I don't want people to think about me that way

I'm not going to do it, you know what the problem is, you ain't in charge of your soul

When you get saved you'll be in charge of your soul, the next time you start to get out of control

Blow up, lose the situation, you say no soul, we're not going to do that here

We're going to serve God, the God of loving, kindness and compassion

Who's one day going to take me home with him for an eternity, you will respect my God

That's one of the things I had to wrestle with, I still have to wrestle with it because I believe that I'm not there either

But I am now telling you that I stand before you today, the next time my soul decides to get ugly

The next time my soul decides to lead me in a direction, and for me it's usually cowardice or timidness

That's usually my problem, that's who I was before I got saved

My soul decides to lead me in a direction, you will see a different me

Because I'm going to say to my soul, get on your knees before God

And we're going to live for the God of the universe, my soul and me

Won't you join me and put your soul on its knees before God

We're going to have a song of invitation at this time

We're going to remember the incredible blessings of God

We've not admitted that you are a sinner, we've not believed that you were a lord and savior, we've not submitted ourselves into despair

We've not done that, we've not done that

No matter what anybody thinks, you've not seen any rumored people thinking forever

Hey I'm saved, people think I'm saved, but I realize I'm not, but I'm not committed myself to the Lord

If you do that, then you'll be saved

As you're in the room today, you say I know I'm a Christian, but I also know my soul is not me

And FYI, literally everybody's soul was messy when they got saved

And it's a journey, if you realize you're not going to submit your soul to God

Then you say, I'm doing that today

You're going to submit yourself to God in this moment

And then later today, when things start to be out of control, you do it again

You'll call it with him, and we'll sing, we'll submit ourselves to God

You just stand with me and sing this song, and if the Lord is leading you to respond in some way

Ask him to get your soul back today before God

John the Baptist said it this way, he said, there is one tongue, I must become less and you must become greater

That's your whole purpose, my whole purpose

And I become greater, and you become greater

And you get your soul back today

Oh Lord Jesus, I surrender all to him, I freely give

I will ever love and trust him in his presence, in his living

He is mighty, he is holy, he created it all, he runs it all, he runs the show from now until the first

We just submit our all to him

He said, yes Jesus, you are my Lord

Now that you are my Lord, I say, I see my soul in your hands

Let that living water fill you up from the inside

Something great is something that just appears inside of you, wells up all over

Set your soul on its knees before God
