Three to seven.

Just kind of real quick.

About four o'clock.

The first time we'll do archery and then we'll do archery after dinner or right before dinner depending on how fast food is coming out.

Chicken breasts are marinating in the refrigerator.

There we go.

Yeah.

So they're in there right now.

I've been overnight so they're ready to grill up and the propane is there.

Whatever.

So looking forward to this is going to be a lot of fun.

We have five on that set up.

Archery.

We tested it out yesterday.

The only thing is if I can grab a few more.

I just got six.

I'm going to grab a few more arrows.

That'd be great.

And then if you have a corn hole set, please bring it.

We're going to try to hunt down on our set of bean bags so we can get there.

It's going to be like a round robin tournament so it's not going to be like the whole bracket plays and then narrow it down, narrow it down because not everybody will be there necessarily the whole time.

So if you know you're only going to be there for the first few hours then you need to get your games in the best you can during that time to get enough wind under your belt so you might potentially win.

That's how that's going to go.

Okay. And then the scavenger hunt is in place so we're going to pray that it doesn't rain before the first team goes in the scavenger hunt.

It's a small chance of praying it doesn't happen because the clues are out all over my yard and stuff right now.

And they're made of paper.

So praying that that won't happen.

I asked you to pray for a few folks specifically this morning as we pray in a moment.

Number one, pray for Jason Wellington.

Again, these are in no particular order.

He's got a stomach thing going on maybe a stomach flu or got food poisoning or something.

But the fact that he thinks it's stomach flu or food poisoning tells you right there that it is a very yucky stomach situation.

So pray for him. He's not going to be able to be joining us today.

And then we have a former member of ours whom we love who is in Fredericksburg, Virginia and just struggling with some stuff emotionally and psychologically.

So pray for that person and then when it is we know more we'll let you know more down the road about that.

And then RJ and Alicia pulled in here to the church building today.

Part of their customary spot and as they did so they're regular group.

So RJ is out trying to deal with that a little bit now.

So pray for them that that comes together smoothly.

And then did you have any you'd like to add to the list? Who am I missing? Obviously.

How many tapes on his way here?

Jamie's mom's surgery Thursday.

And that's for removal?

Yeah, that's a pretty big deal.

Okay, definitely praying for hers.

That's Thursday, my Sabbath day.

I'll be easy. I do a lot of praying on that day so you need to remember that day.

Anybody else have one you'd like to call out?

You may or may not know her, but there's a young lady who's in our youth group.

Last night she was at a friend's house and they told her she needed to go home to her house.

And they found her this morning sitting outside on the side of the house.

So I'm not going to name her because I don't want to embarrass her or anything like that,

but if you pray for her while they try to sort out the situation.

She ran away from home essentially or was just with her parents or whatever,

but she literally slept outside on the side of the house all night.

And so that's not a good situation.

And then Karina's grandpa, she's not here to say it this morning,

but he's at home on hospice and they think he may die anytime,

but they're holding out hope that that's not the case.

So nothing says he absolutely has to die soon, but it's probably good.

It's really, really not good.

He's got multiple things, the biggest thing is which he just essentially can't eat because he's hungry too,

and he keeps having trouble with it.

And then they had a hospice nurse who was coming every day to make sure it worked,

and a neighbor of theirs attacked physically the hospice nurse.

A person lives down the road or across the street or whatever,

and so now they could get a hospice nurse to come to the house,

and they're back trying to find a hospice nurse that will help take care of it,

because she has a hard time doing that.

And she has degenerative dyspathy in her back,

she's really bad at multiple surgeries,

and so it's hard for her to do anything physical.

So that's Karina's grandma and grandpa.

I can't think of his first name, I'd have to shame her right now.

And then, the name of these names, Jennifer Kelly of 331 Cyrill Street,

right over there, Tracy and Donald Alsept, Edison Kendall,

Tracy and Donald lived at 329 Cyrill, and Edison lived at 319,

Jill Schaefer was at 319, and Jeannie and Alexander Herrick was at 370.

And by the way, if you're from East Lido, you may remember Jeannie.

She was a Sparks leader, was a Sparks director for a while,

did a lot back then.

Some of us learned Bible version on the lap, but not me.

I'm not that young.

Okay, so I'm going to pray for us, and I'll also take this listed prayer

that they've given us here, and pray for the folks that you listen to,

and I'm going to add some stuff out to sit with our folks.

And then, this verse that I'll quote as I'm praying,

we're going to come back to at this inspirational moment in time

and meditate on it a little bit together, because it's really powerful, okay?

Father in heaven, we do thank you so much for the way that you've blessed us.

We know that we are in the midst of great trials and tribulations in our country,

and where it goes from the very top to what someone might get to the very bottom,

and yet we are blessed immeasurably.

I always come back to that illustration, Lord, about how all the maneuvering in America,

from those who are unemployed, on disability, or whatever,

they still get more money than 96% of the world's population,

and then the most wealthiest people in America are in the 98th percentile.

So we are blessed as a nation, even in the midst of the greatest trials

and terrible things that are going on.

Father, we praise you for being the God who sends many blessings.

We praise you for being the God who loves us, despite ourselves and our own stupidity sometimes.

Lord, the errors that we make.

We confess our weakness and our need to you.

We know that we have errors. We have been in sin. We have done wrong.

We have lost valuable, important insights that we get back then from your Holy Spirit

as you call us out of the darkness, you call us away from sin,

call us to be your curve, call us together, call us to reach out.

Lord, we just pray that you continue to do all of those things.

We do pray that you would maintain the head of protection around each one of us in our church

as we serve you daily.

We want to praise you about some amazing things that have happened at the same time,

but we want to lift up to you serious, serious concerns.

Lord, some of us know what it's like to be in such psychological difficulty,

struggling so much emotionally that you would consider taking your own life.

Now we know somebody who's done that, tried to do that.

Lord, we pray for them.

You lift them up today.

Let them know that they're loved.

What a waste it would be to succeed in such a foolish attempt.

Father, we pray for those amongst us who are struggling psychologically and emotionally even now.

We pray for those who are isolated because they feel like they've got to be at home

or they're pulled back because they don't know what's going to go on.

We pray for those who are wrapped up in the conspiracy theories we hear about online

and are struggling emotionally and psychologically because they're concerned about what's going on in politics

or because of world affairs or because of the pandemic or because of the disease or the virus that caused the disease

or the virus that just goes on.

We pray that our eyes would be on you, that we would not be looking at the other sheep

but looking at the shepherd, Lord.

We pray for Jason and what's going on with his stomach.

We pray for Arja, what's going on with the radiator.

We pray for this worship time that it would honor you, that it would glorify you.

We pray for Karina's grandma, she tries to take care of Karina's grandpa.

We pray for him as he struggles with his stomach and the cancer and the issues in his heart,

so little of it working.

I pray for that pastor that I read about this week who's only got 10% of his heart working

and he's leading his church in preaching to his son that.

I pray you'll give him strength in the pulpit.

I pray you'll give him boldness.

Father, I pray that as the word of New Heights Fellowship, which is not our word,

it's nothing about us or nothing that we've created, it's the word that's your word, Lord,

as you speak through it, as it gets out to the world and now it becomes available to the whole world,

that the sermons that are online are becoming available to the entire world, Lord.

We pray that you would bring those messages, your messages, your word, home to hearts that desperately need it.

And whatever we do, Lord, we pray you'll get all the glory for it and we'll realize it's not about us.

Father, we pray that we would not be worried about this world, that this neighborhood,

these people that we're praying for not be worried about this world,

but that we would recognize Jesus as Lord and trust him and be able to say

that we trust in the Lord with all our heart and we not on our own understanding.

Lord, help us in all our ways, acknowledge him.

We know, Lord, that you'll make our path straight.

We pray all this in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

The verse that I mentioned to you before, it comes from Proverbs 3, 5, and 6.

A lot of us have probably memorized it for so many years.

If you've never memorized it, I do encourage you to do so.

But meditating on it for a moment will help you to do that.

So put your speaking caps on and let's think deeply on Proverbs 3, 5, and 6.

The verse says, say it.

Turn around and look at me.

That doesn't go on the second.

The verse says,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

So what does it mean to trust?

Out of control question.

Go ahead.

What does it mean to trust?

Trust people.

Okay.

Trust people.

So what does it mean to trust people?

To believe what someone does and says is true.

Okay.

To believe what someone does and says is true.

That's absolutely correct.

Is there more?

Okay.

Okay.

Put faith in an individual.

Okay.

Or a thing, I would say.

Right?

You trust the chair you're sitting on?

In a way.

Right?

Not that it's making an intentional choice to hold you up, but that it's capable of doing so.

It has capabilities.

Right?

So put faith in an individual or a thing.

Good.

Anything else?

Okay.

It says, trust in the Lord.

Alright.

What, first of all, what is a Lord?

Simple.

This one's simple.

I say it a lot.

Well, if you get something like it.

What's a Lord?

Somebody who tells you what to do and you do it.

There you go.

That's the definition textbook.

Data.

I'm going to ask you again.

And that's the last one.

Data.

Alright.

So a Lord is someone who tells you what to do and you do it.

One of the classic examples of that comes from feudal England.

That's where the word halide comes in the English most heavily at.

And it used to be that the Lord of the land literally had the rights to everything in

the land.

So, for example, if you were going to get married, if a man was going to get married,

the Lord of the land had the right to sleep with his wife on her wedding night before

the man could sleep with her himself.

Now that's not right.

That's unjust.

Right?

That's not biblical.

It's not God.

It's a wrong thing.

But it gives you an idea of just how strong Lordship is.

The Lord is entitled to everything in His terrain.

Everything in His kingdom.

Right?

And so a Lord is someone who tells you what to do and you do it.

Period.

Anything else about a Lord?

Anything else about a Lord?

Okay.

So now we have the phrase, trust in the Lord.

So what would that mean?

If we take those parts that we just have, we would say to have faith in someone, it would

be to have faith in Jesus, right?

Trust in the Lord.

Go ahead.

What are you going to say?

Trust God.

Trust God.

Good.

It's simple.

Trust God.

And we talked about trusting and having faith in them, believing what they say, believing

that they are who they say they are, what they do.

Right?

Anybody else want to add anything to trust in the Lord?

It has a clause added onto it.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

First of all, what is your heart?

Obviously, you know this is not the muscle that beats in your chest and moves your blood.

Right?

So what is your heart?

The thing inside you that drives you.

Okay, good.

The thing inside you that drives you, what else?

Okay.

So it's the emotional center where you make your decisions emotionally, where your emotions

hit.

What else?

I read a definition recently.

I'm going to slaughter, but I get it to you.

It's the internal part of a person, like the soul, kind of like that, internal part of

a person where things hit you most deeply and where they have to be dealt with.

Right?

You have to deal with things internally in your heart.

That center, that core, that sea of emotions.

Right?

Anybody else?

Alright.

So then what would it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart?

Whole prayer.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

This restated in your own words.

Good.

Trust with no reservations, no doubts.

I think if you're going to hold something back, like I trust that the chair will hold

me up, but that doesn't have nothing to do with my heart.

You know what I mean?

Like I just made a mental decision to trust.

I think it'll work.

You know?

But this is something deeper.

Hold nothing back.

No reservations.

Okay?

And it says trust the Lord with all your heart.

So remember the heart is the center of your being.

It's where you make all your tough decisions.

It's the core.

The emotions are there.

Everything like that.

And so you're going to take all of that and trust the Lord with it.

Alright?

So every decision, every feeling, every age, every hurt, sometimes something you don't

like.

All of it.

Trust in the Lord with all of that.

Your decision making processes.

So like I think I'm going to grow up and go to college.

Or I'm going to not go to college.

I think I'm going to marry this person or I'm not going to marry this person.

You trust in the Lord with all of that because that's where you make all of those really

deep, strong, right decisions.

And then it says, and lean not to your own understanding.

Okay?

Lean not to your own understanding.

So first of all, to lean is what?

What does it mean to lean?

You're going to roll up your belt.

You want to lean on me or should I lean on you?

Lean on you.

Okay, stand right next to me.

Okay, lean on me.

Go ahead.

Okay, I'm going to lean on you.

Can you hold me up by leaning on you?

All right.

So to lean on something is what?

Let it hold your weight.

Let it hold your weight.

That's good.

Okay, the let it hold your weight.

That's a really good way of thinking of leaning on you.

Okay.

So all that I am, I'm not holding up anymore.

I'm leaning.

So I'm letting that thing, which in this case is, it's going to say what it's not, but we

know it's the Lord, right?

So it's trusting the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.

What is your own understanding?

The way you perceive things.

Yes, the way you perceive things.

Anybody want to add anything?

So most of what we understand comes through our five senses, right?

But occasionally we get like an intuition, an idea that goes beyond our senses.

We put some few facts together and go, maybe it could be this.

And then you go check it and you're wrong or you go check it in your record.

So it's all of that put together in your perceptions, in the crucible of your mind, in your thought,

in your heart, all of that put together to figure out what you best understand.

Know what you're responsible for out of the Bible?

As much as you understand.

To understand something is to stand under it.

So when you understand the Bible, you will stand under the Bible.

You won't stand under it if you don't understand it.

I don't mind.

So you're responsible for what you know.

If a child was about to hurt themselves and you know it 30 seconds before it happens and

you do nothing, right?

You're culpable for that.

It means you're guilty.

You're responsible.

You have a responsibility because you knew you're supposed to do something.

Someone's about to run out in front of a car, no matter their age, whatever, so they're

going to step out in front of a car and you know it in time to do something about it,

you're responsible for that.

This is what we're talking about.

Your own understanding.

You're responsible for what's in your own understanding.

But this says don't lean on that.

Don't trust.

Don't let that be what holds you up.

Your own understanding.

So now the whole thing is trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own

understanding.

So let's put it this way.

What is it telling us we should do?

Say it simple.

Let me give it to me in your own words.

What is it telling us?

You know God will just stand under it.

Lean on God's understanding.

Lean on God completely.

And nothing else.

Because in your understanding you will find a lot of safe ways of doing things or safe

places to be or whatever.

But this is saying don't trust that.

Don't go there.

Instead, as Jason said, lean on God's understanding.

God knows so much more than we do.

Lean on Him completely.

Almost done.

In all ways acknowledge Him.

Now acknowledge is a big word.

But if you just say in all ways, not always, like as in time, like it always happens, but

it's in all ways.

What does that mean?

That's not normal language.

We're going to go over and say that.

So how would you say it?

In all directions that work is for us to go.

Yeah.

Always you could possibly go.

Right?

So that's what it's telling us.

In all directions that work is for us to go.

So all directions.

That was one.

Good.

Anybody have anything to add?

If you had a single word that you would replace ways with other than directions, which is

good, what would you replace it with?

Circumstance.

We're going to go with a big word.

I think I would.

Right?

What?

Things.

In all things.

There actually is a translation I think that says things there.

Another one says paths.

Right?

So we do that.

When I meditated on this verse, and I've done it once before, I like the word choices.

But I also like directions.

I haven't even thought about that.

That actually works for me as good or better than choices.

So whatever way you go, you say it this way, whatever way you go, wherever you go, whatever

choices you make, you can say all that if you want to.

Acknowledge him.

What does it mean to acknowledge someone?

Somebody that's familiar with big words.

I don't know if I can literally define acknowledge.

Acknowledge.

What?

Recognize or approve.

Recognize or approve.

Okay?

So realize that he's there.

Recognize him.

Give him his position.

Accept that he's real.

Realize that when you do things your own way and not God's way, your actions are saying

that you don't believe in God.

Even though you do.

You say, well, I believe in God.

But then you do things your own way and don't do them God's way, your actions are saying

different than what your mouth is saying.

What is it called when your actions say something different than what your mouth says?

Hypocrisy or lying.

Right?

Is that what you're going to say?

Lying?

Perfect.

All right, I was going to say lying.

So all your ways, everything that you would do, recognize that he's there, that he is

real, that he has a right to be Lord.

And the last part is the promise.

And he, and that he is who?

God or Jesus.

Both, right?

God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit, all.

In all ways, acknowledge him.

He will, doesn't say he might, or can, or he may, but he will, so this is a promise.

This is what God will do.

If you think you've just been talking about, this is what God will do.

Direct.

What does it mean to direct?

You just had this conversation with him, and I forgot all about it.

Go ahead.

Tell someone what to do.

Right?

So the perfect example in our day of a director is somebody who's making a movie, right?

And they tell all the actors when to talk, how loud to talk, how soft to talk.

Let's shoot it again.

I didn't think you looked really sad.

Right?

That kind of thing.

They're directing.

Right?

But he will direct thy path.

And there we are with that word, your way, your path, your hadas.

Jesus is the way, the truth, the life.

But if you do this, Proverbs 3, 5, 6 says, 5, 6 says, if you will, trust in the Lord

with all your heart, and need not your own understanding.

Or as Jason said, trust God's understanding in all ways, acknowledge and recognize him.

He will direct your path, your ways, your choices, everything.

That's the promise.

Pretty good stuff.

Okay?

Now you pray about that, you meditate on it, you look at it, you go, Lord, I don't feel

like I'm doing everything that you have me to do.

I'm doing some things I don't do that you want me to do.

Well then you're breaking your side of the deal.

Okay?

Now remember this comes from Proverbs, which on the one hand makes it a little weaker in

the fact that that means it's not a promise.

There aren't promises per se in Proverbs.

But on another hand, it makes it even more powerful because what it is is an observation

of Solomon, who was the wisest man to ever live, and what he's actually observing is

the way it actually works.

Given the most wisdom of any human being that ever lived, he saw that if you do this

and this, God does this.

This is without Jesus, without the Holy Spirit of God, he saw if you do this and this, God

does this.

That's how it always works, it always happens that way.

So that's pretty powerful stuff.

Which means if you don't do the top part, then you don't have any promise that the bottom

part is going to happen.

Right?

So that's not the way it works.

Okay, so we've done our little meditation to remind you that meditation is our spiritual

discipline of the six months.

We go through November, we encourage you to meditate on the word.

Yes, memorize the word, that's great.

Yes, pray.

Yes, spend time in worship.

Yes, spend time taking the Bible in.

Right?

But meditate, meditate.

Think about what it means to you.

Apply it.

What will change you?

All right?

You've got to say something to you, you've got to show you something that you'd like

to share right now.

Father, God help us, we're living in the day of the pandemic, we're living in the day of death threats on Christians, we're living in the day of people seeking after money, or after sex, or relationships, or what's on TV, hours of screaming, less about talking about we're living in the day where everybody's after everything, except maybe Jesus

And God, for me and for our church and for this people, I want us to be about Jesus, I'm tired of young people turning their backs on you, and I definitely don't want to be one

Lord, I'm praying that we are living in the day when we're living about Jesus, let your church step up, let your people be your people and cry out to you that we would have help, we would have provision, we would have protection, we would have purpose, and we would live it out

Lord, we know you are the God of loving kindness, we know you are the God of justice and righteousness, you enact those things on the earth

I was watching the Lord of the Rings, and he said, how that evil wizard Sauron, he doesn't share power with anybody, that's the enemy, that's pride and arrogance, there is no power shared with anybody

Lord of Heaven, share in us, work in us, lift us up, help us make our bodies into living temples, help us make our mouths into a tool to speak boldly and loudly and much for our God, out of the joy and the strength that is our God

And we know you knew, you were there at the founding of the earth, we know you knew you were there when Job went through his tribulations, we know you knew you were there when Hannah was unable to have a child

And she was blaspheming, talked bad about by all those, thought they were something, that she wasn't, we know you knew you were there when Jacob wrestled with the angel on the shore and he said, I have not lost, why should I not win

We know you knew, and you know, you know our circumstances, you know where every cell of COVID is, you know where every soldier is, you know where every citizen of the United States of America is, you know where every member of this church is, the situation that they're in, that they should be stepping out of

Serving and growing and living and reaching out to others and reaching new heights in Jesus every day, you know where we are and what we've been through

And you will know, you will know the plights of the hurting, you know the plight of the lost, and you will know the plight of the lost, you will know it until the day when Jesus says enough, when your patience is worn thin, when it's no more, and it's time to bring your people home

And we pray, Lord, that we will be amongst that merry and mighty band, and we will be able to say, we stood up, we spoke up, we let things go that got in the way, and we turned from pride and arrogance

We turned from anything that would have made us okay outside of our God, and turned to the Lord God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and the salvation that was provided, and that it was every day

Until we come to be with you, we know you've gone to prepare a place for us, and that if we don't die on this earth and come immediately into your presence, that you will come again for us, to take us to be there with you, we live it for you, Jesus
