  1. Okay, so I'm going to get started. We are playing

  2. Stump the Experts this evening. This is in our

  3. rotation. This is the fun night. So I hope you'll

  4. have a little bit of fun. It's not meant to be

  5. like a big stressful thing or anything like that.

  6. And so the way Stump the Experts is played is

  7. I have trivia questions that are worth one, two,

  8. and five points. A team of experts will be formed.

  9. It can be anybody in the audience. It must be

  10. composed of a minimum of one adult and a minimum

  11. of one child. So you can have up to four players

  12. at a time. You have one adult, one child. You

  13. have to have a child. You have more than one

  14. child. You have to have a child because the child

  15. will operate the microphone, which is to say

  16. that they will give the correct answer when the

  17. correct answer has been determined. Until the

  18. correct answer has been determined, you get no

  19. points. Okay, we're good. All right, so the way

  20. it works is that you sit in the chairs, and then

  21. I am emceeing, so I will read the questions.

  22. And then when you have the answer, you give the

  23. answer to your child, your child speaks the answer

  24. in the microphone, that's when you get the points.

  25. Every question will have a reference with it.

  26. So if by some chance no one on your team knows

  27. the question, you can designate one person on

  28. your team to look up the answer in the Bible,

  29. and you'll get the reference. Sometimes you pay

  30. close attention to the reference, they have the

  31. answer in it, like their question might be, in

  32. what book of the Bible does this happen, blah,

  33. blah, blah. And then it says Genesis 17. So that

  34. might be the answer to the question after the

  35. book of Genesis. So you've got to pay attention

  36. to the question. But read the question. And if

  37. the other members of the team are shouting out

  38. the answers or give us the wrong answer, none

  39. of that matters. It only matters once they pass

  40. the answer to the child who has the microphone.

  41. Once they say the answer into the microphone,

  42. whether they say it incorrectly enough that we

  43. cannot understand what they're saying. take somebody's

  44. wrong answer instead of somebody's right answer

  45. or whatever like that then that's the answer

  46. and you don't get the points yes we're going

  47. to do four minutes to get four minutes to score

  48. as many points as possible and then the winning

  49. team will at least get bragging rights you can

  50. play on more than one team if you want to hedge

  51. your bets and try to be more likely to be on

  52. the winning team you can do that it was not mandatory

  53. for anybody to play but because You just, I mean,

  54. a lot of it's educated guests or you can always

  55. say, well, I'll look it up in the Bible and the

  56. reference is given to you. So, you know, just

  57. look it up by the reference. Anybody can do it.

  58. It's not super hard, right? So what we're going

  59. to do is we're going to pray and then we'll begin

  60. round one of Stumpy Experts. We'll go for probably

  61. four or five rounds and then we have snacks and

  62. treats and drinks and we'll just have fellowship

  63. in the cafeteria, okay? So we have more people

  64. still want to go. People are like, hey, I didn't

  65. get to do it. They'll get tested. Yes, ma 'am.

  66. Nope. Nope. You're in here with us, which means

  67. you can be talking into this microphone if you

  68. want to. Okay? So every team must have a child.

  69. So if you're a child in the room and we can't

  70. get a child, we'll volunteer to come up here

  71. and be the child. Okay? But I don't think we'll

  72. have trouble getting it. Some children will go

  73. two or three times. They like to do it. So it's

  74. actually pretty fun. I would show you. I would

  75. give you an example on how to do it right now.

  76. I'm the MC, so that would be hard. All right,

  77. so to begin with, I need a child for the microphone.

  78. Going once. Okay, we're going to go with Zayden

  79. first. Zayden, you're going to go first? Come

  80. on, baby. Sit right here. Sit right there. Okay.

  81. And then we need a minimum of one adult. One

  82. adult. All right, time to date. We will. We'll

  83. pray. Don't worry. All right. And then we can

  84. fill the other top two spots with any volunteers

  85. who want to give it a try. If you want to have

  86. Tony Tate on your team, you want Zayden. It's

  87. funny because I was going to say Zayden. Zayden,

  88. come on. Come on. Okay. Say it. Say it now. Remember

  89. the goal is to get as many points as possible.

  90. Some questions are worth five points. Some questions

  91. are only worth one. If you take a lot of one

  92. -point questions, you may get them all right,

  93. but you won't accumulate points as fast. We're

  94. going to pray first, and then we'll begin. Are

  95. you ready? All right, let's pray. Father in heaven,

  96. we are grateful for this opportunity to kind

  97. of, I mean, really it's playing is what it is.

  98. Playing with your word, playing with things that

  99. we could know a lot about and maybe we'll find

  100. we don't know that much about them. And they're

  101. all available to us. They're in your word. We

  102. know this word is not just a toy. It is a weapon.

  103. It is the single greatest weapon in spiritual

  104. warfare. Whenever we should face a challenge,

  105. a temptation, a distraction, kind of a dark feeling

  106. or an emotional depression or anything, we ought

  107. to be able to draw on this weapon that you have

  108. made available to us. If we don't own it, boy,

  109. do we know we don't own it. Because when we study

  110. it, it's constantly affecting us, constantly

  111. changing us, constantly working to remind us

  112. of our failures and also our successes and what

  113. real success is available through Jesus Christ.

  114. And so we ask you, Lord, as we do this, maybe

  115. somebody will hear something. Maybe somebody

  116. will be touched by something. Maybe somebody

  117. affected by time together with believers who

  118. will just stick their neck out a little bit,

  119. stand up for you, and have a little fun in the

  120. process. And we praise you for all that's going

  121. to go on. And we do this in Jesus' name. Amen.

  122. Okay, so check your microphone, make sure it's

  123. working. And you're going to want your chair

  124. up a little bit because they're going to give

  125. you the answers, remember? Now, if I read a question,

  126. Zaden, and you're sure that you know the answer,

  127. you can just immediately speak it into the microphone

  128. or realize that if you get it wrong, your team

  129. gets no points. Okay? So it's a good idea to

  130. listen to them. And you might have to pick. Like,

  131. Sean might say it's one thing, and Tony might

  132. say it's another, and you have to pick between

  133. them. Whatever you say into the microphone, that's

  134. the one that counts. All right? Okay. Who's going

  135. to be my timer? We need someone keeping score

  136. and we need someone running a timer. Okay, can

  137. you set it for four minutes? Yes. And we'll start

  138. it when we're ready. Bibles are allowed. You

  139. can't look it up unless you designate a person.

  140. And if you designate a person to look it up...

  141. then that person cannot help with any other questions

  142. until they're done. Okay? So you can't look it

  143. up unless you designate that person to look it

  144. up, and once they're designated to look it up,

  145. that's all they can do until they're done. Now,

  146. they can give a wrong answer to get out of that

  147. if they're stuck and can't find it, but you won't

  148. get any points for that. Okay? All right. The

  149. first question of every round will be a one -point

  150. question. After that, we'll have Spade in to

  151. pick. Put the microphone by your mouth and stop

  152. playing with it. Okay? All right. Here we go.

  153. Mark, get set, start the timer. Who said, I am

  154. a man which I'm a Jew of Tarsus, a city of Cilicia?

  155. You're thinking, someone's going to look it up

  156. if you don't know the answer. You have to get

  157. rid of it. You have to either get the wrong answer

  158. or tell us. I don't have to give you the reference

  159. unless someone's going to look it up. Okay, so

  160. Jason's going to look it up. So Jason will be

  161. out of play until he's done looking it up. Okay,

  162. the next question. Who said, I am Esau thy firstborn?

  163. I'm sorry, Acts 21 -39. Who said, I am Esau thy

  164. firstborn? What? Okay, I need an answer. I am

  165. Esau thy firstborn. Okay. Acts 21 .39 is the

  166. reference. Who said, I am Esau by firstborn?

  167. As soon as you get one correct, you can pick

  168. what points you want. Do you have an answer?

  169. Yeah. Yeah, that's the answer. He's got to say

  170. it in the microphone. Rachel is incorrect. Would

  171. you like a one -point, two -point, or five -point

  172. question? Oh, he's going with the glory. Okay,

  173. here we go. Who said, I am innocent of the blood

  174. of this just person? Okay. Judas Iscariot. Judas

  175. Iscariot is incorrect. Which of Joseph's brothers

  176. suggested they sell him to the Ishmaelites? Did

  177. you find that answer, Jason? You didn't find

  178. it? Okay, you can either give a wrong answer

  179. or you're going to be stuck there staring at

  180. that violin for the last two and a half minutes.

  181. What's the reference? One and a half minutes.

  182. What's the reference? The reference was Acts

  183. 21. 27. 2719. I think I gave you the wrong reference.

  184. I think I said 21 last time. Who said... Which

  185. of Joseph's brothers suggested that they sell

  186. him to the Israelites? I literally just read

  187. this story during camp. Did you say David? Is

  188. that what you said? He said David. You're better

  189. off to make a guess and get on to a cheaper question.

  190. Let's just do it. Reuben. Reuben is incorrect.

  191. Okay, now we're going to one point question time.

  192. Right now we've got zero, so let's get on with

  193. it. Okay. Who said we ought to obey God rather

  194. than men? 35. 35 seconds. Peter. Peter is correct.

  195. Next question. Yes. What was Zacharias unable

  196. to do after the angel spoke to him? I know the

  197. answer. You can just say it. That's correct.

  198. Okay, what is the first command line? That's

  199. correct. Seven points total and we're out of

  200. time. This team is dismissed, but you can volunteer

  201. again if you want. Let's go. Other people want

  202. a chance before you get your next chance. Let's

  203. go. So far, you said pull ahead. You only need

  204. eight points. We need a kid. Who's our kid? You're

  205. not a kid. I'll let you go. Don't worry. Not

  206. yet. All right. We need a minimum of one adult.

  207. Chris, come on, Chris. Your wife's always throwing

  208. you out of the dog bus. We're about to leave.

  209. All right, we need two people to fill in. So,

  210. Haley. One more. Tommy. All right, let's go.

  211. It's Tomas. Yeah, remember, two more Tomas. You

  212. can always look it up if it's really struggling.

  213. All right, we have the timer on. Fifteen twenty

  214. -one point, guys. Better than seven to be in

  215. the lead. Ready? And are you ready? Remember,

  216. you're the only one who can talk to the microphone.

  217. You're the only one who can ultimately answer

  218. the question. So as soon as they give you the

  219. answer, or if you already know it, you can just

  220. say it. Okay? Alright, here we go. Start the

  221. timer. Was Solomon made king before or after

  222. David died? Was he made king before or after

  223. David died? Again. Say again. The four is correct.

  224. That's one point. One, two, or five? Five it

  225. is. One for the glory. Okay, here we go. In Jewish

  226. money, how many shekels equal one talent? And

  227. there is no reference, so you'd have to figure

  228. out a way to look it up on your own, like in

  229. a study Bible or something. You can always guess.

  230. If you get it wrong, you just go on to the next

  231. question. Just say 20. We're burning time. Say

  232. 20, and then you'll be out of the questions.

  233. 20 is incorrect. Do you want a 5 again, or do

  234. you want to go down? 2 it is. Okay, here we go.

  235. In what city did Solomon build the temple? Jerusalem.

  236. Jerusalem. Jerusalem. Jerusalem is correct. Two

  237. points. Two again? Two again? Okay, here we go.

  238. How old was Moses when he first appeared before

  239. Pharaoh to deliver the children of Israel? How

  240. old was Moses when he first appeared before Pharaoh

  241. to deliver the children of Israel? Yes, there

  242. is. The reference is Exodus 7 -7. We will be

  243. out until he answers the question. Two again.

  244. Which of the Gospels was written by a man who

  245. was a publican? Okay, I got it. Okay, you can

  246. give it to her any time. Say 80 years. 80 years

  247. is correct with two points. The current question

  248. is, which of the Gospels was written by a man

  249. who was a publican? A publican. A publican, like

  250. a politician, working together. Which of the

  251. Gospels? There's only four Gospels. You got it?

  252. 25 % chance. Matthew is correct for two points.

  253. Another two? What did Paul tell the Philippian

  254. jailer to do in order to be saved? What did he

  255. tell the Philippian jailer to do in order to

  256. be saved? Yes, there is. Okay? The reference

  257. is Acts 16 .31. 1, 2, or 5. Do it again. Acts

  258. 16 .31. Who said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

  259. and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior?

  260. My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit

  261. hath rejoiced in God my Savior. Who said that?

  262. My brain is hard today. I meant to be easy. Easy

  263. ones are in the one bucket. Somebody can look

  264. it up. The reference is Luke 1, 46 -47. You'll

  265. be out of the mix until you guys want to take

  266. a one. Just you and Chris. Here we go. Luke 1,

  267. 46 -47. How did Peter escape from prison the

  268. night before Herod planned to kill him? How did

  269. Peter escape from prison the night before Herod

  270. planned to kill him? Time. Mine is Mary. So we

  271. won't get that one. You can finish these two

  272. that you were looking at. The first question

  273. was, who set my soul to magnify the Lord? Mary.

  274. Mary, that's correct for two points. And then

  275. what did Paul tell the Philippian jailer to do

  276. in order to be saved in Acts 16 .31? We're going

  277. to have to play the telephone game to get it

  278. down better. We need the Lord Jesus and we will

  279. be saved. That is correct for two points. Okay,

  280. what did they get? Eleven. Eleven. Eleven is

  281. the new number to eat. Okay, you guys are good.

  282. Would you sit down? Okay, it's always going to

  283. be your kids, so we're going to need a good team

  284. to back her up up here. First, we need a minimum

  285. of one adult. You're going to talk right into

  286. it and put your mouth right on it. Say your name.

  287. What's your name? We're going to need a new timer

  288. because our timer is playing. Who's timing me?

  289. All right, Haley's got the timer. Hey, your first

  290. question has to come from the one bucket. Remember,

  291. you can only use your Bibles if you're out of

  292. the mix to look up a specific question. Are we

  293. ready? Start the timer. What gift of God was

  294. given the church on the day of Pentecost? For

  295. one point. The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is

  296. correct for one point. Would you like one, two,

  297. or five? Five. Oh, boy. Make it hard on you.

  298. Make it hard on you. Okay. All right. Who was

  299. called the weeping prophet of Judah? Oh, man.

  300. For five points. A great opportunity to get five

  301. points. That's a three -pointer. There is no

  302. reference, however. What? So the only way you

  303. can figure it out is you can study Bible. Who

  304. was called the weeping prophet of Judah? Do we

  305. have an answer? Don't waste a lot of time on

  306. it. Who was called the weeping prophet of Judah?

  307. All right, Caleb, you're out of the mix until

  308. you get an answer, right or wrong. Zoe, one,

  309. two, or five. Two it is. There is no reference.

  310. Go in the back of the dictionary section. Okay.

  311. Who said it is not good that man should be alone?

  312. For two points. God. That is correct. God. Two

  313. points. Very good. Two again? One. Okay. One

  314. to one. Who was called the weeping prophet of

  315. Judah? Who said, I will serve thee seven years

  316. for Rachel, your younger daughter? That should

  317. be a two or five. I did this to my dad. Take

  318. him out of the mix. That's why I gave it to you.

  319. You can always guess and miss it and move on.

  320. Joseph is incorrect. Sorry. One, two, or five?

  321. One. One it is. That was a tough one, that last

  322. one. Okay, here we go. What did Paul say should

  323. not exist among the brethren? What did Paul say

  324. should not exist among the brethren? Just the

  325. name of a prophet. Maybe we'll get it lucky.

  326. What did Paul say should not exist among the

  327. brethren? Sin. Sin is incorrect, although it's

  328. kind of a sin. Are you guessing, Caleb? There

  329. we go. Malachi is incorrect. Caleb is back in.

  330. In the beginning, what did God create? For one

  331. point. How many years did the children of Israel

  332. sojourn in Egypt? How many years were they stuck

  333. in Egypt? There is a reference. The reference

  334. is Exodus 12 .40. RJ is looking it up. A quick

  335. video one. What was it, Exodus 1240? Yes, 1240.

  336. Okay, and the question is, who was the father

  337. of Seth? Who was the father of Seth? It is 430,

  338. but she said 440. I'm sorry. She can't pronounce

  339. it. She didn't feel the pronounces she misheard

  340. it from you so she did a good job. Who was the

  341. father of seven? We got the time up. Who was

  342. the father of seven? Give it up. Okay. All right.

  343. How did they get? Oh man. Okay. They would have

  344. had nine. Yeah. Good stuff. Good stuff. All right.

  345. Clear the chairs. It sounded like 440. Would

  346. you like me to clarify with her? Because she

  347. won't find it. Here you go. I'm going to ask

  348. you a question. When you're answering that question,

  349. you need to say 430 or 440. 430. We're going

  350. to give them the five points. They'll be at nine.

  351. Alright, here we go, be the team. Who's our kid

  352. that hasn't gone yet? Alright, who's our adult?

  353. We won't force her to do it. Tony Tate will go

  354. again unless we can talk another room. You want

  355. to go again? He wants to cry and make you start

  356. showing. This time he volunteered himself. The

  357. highest score ever is like 40, so it is pretty,

  358. you know, that was pretty impressive. Sherry's

  359. in. Is there somebody else that hasn't gone?

  360. Anybody else haven't gone? Okay, so the first

  361. question will be from one. Remember, if you try

  362. to look something up, you're out until you either

  363. look it up or give a wrong answer. Are you ready?

  364. Do we have a timer, Haley? Where was Joseph sent

  365. when he refused to sin? There is a reference.

  366. At one point, where was he sent when he refused

  367. to sin? Joseph. The reference is Genesis 39,

  368. 20. The next question is, who wrote, in the beginning

  369. was the Word, and the Word was with God, and

  370. the Word was God? You can answer any time if

  371. you have it already. Prison. Prison is correct

  372. for one point. Who wrote, in the beginning was

  373. the Word, and the Word was with God, and the

  374. Word was God? John. You have to pick one. Oh,

  375. he did. You're right. That's right. John is correct

  376. for one point. One, two, or five. Okay. What

  377. does testament mean? As in the New and Old Testament.

  378. What does it mean? And there is no reference.

  379. You can always take a guess. If you get it wrong,

  380. move on. Scripture is incorrect. Five, two, or

  381. one? Two. Two it is. In what did Paul counsel

  382. Timothy to be strong? And there is a reference.

  383. What pitfall counseled Timothy to be strong?

  384. Second Timothy 2 .1. You look it up for two points.

  385. Sherry, that'll mix. One, two, or five. How many

  386. daughters did the priest of Midian have? How

  387. many daughters did the priest of Midian have?

  388. Grace is correct. Two points. How many daughters

  389. did the priest of Midian have and there is a

  390. reference? What's the reference? Exodus 2 .16.

  391. That's all. One to arrive. In Bible times, what

  392. coin was considered fair compensation for a day's

  393. labor? For one day's labor, how much did people

  394. get paid? You can answer that question anytime

  395. if you have it. Seven. Seven is correct. In Bible

  396. times, that was five points. In Bible times,

  397. what coin was considered fair compensation for

  398. a day's labor? Talent. Talent is incorrect. One,

  399. two, or five? Five. One for the glory. I'm not

  400. a bad caller. Who wrote the book of Lamentations?

  401. Who wrote the book of Lamentations for five points?

  402. Who wrote the book of Lamentations? Awesome.

  403. Take a guess. Does the group have a guess? Nope?

  404. Okay. How many points? How many was it? Nine

  405. points. Okay, clear the chairs. We need a child.
