All right. You got your text, right, Josh? I
-
sent you a text with the questions. Of course,
-
it was on two pages. Did you see they're making
-
a He -Man Masters of the Universe movie based
-
on the He -Man cartoon? We went and saw a movie.
-
Shout out. Thank you very much. He -Man? Yes.
-
A movie based on He -Man. The Skeletor? Yeah.
-
Awesome. Oh, the advertisement. Yes. I forgot
-
we were playing that movie. I was thinking Masters
-
of the Universe. He -Man and the Masters of the
-
Universe. Yeah, we were tripping. Everything
-
comes around again, you know? They should make
-
the real -life version of Captain Caveman. Oh
-
no, I know what you're talking about. Well, I
-
mean, that's one. That's not too bad. That's
-
how my dad quit, so I'm just going to go with
-
him to the picnic. It works, I guess. But I don't
-
want him. Oh, really? I don't want him. That's
-
weird. Well, because that's the way Dad said
-
it. Yeah, she said it's my place. Thank you.
-
You didn't waste your money on it. The name of
-
the movie is The AI. It's like they have an AI
-
court in Los Angeles and this guy is protecting
-
people from crime. Okay. what power I'm not sure
-
if I'm going to be able to help with this little
-
pantry because the way they were whipping my
-
head around, it's kind of moving my head right
-
now. Hello Okay, we're going to pray together
-
and then we'll dismiss the children. Then we
-
have some Bible study activities that we're going
-
to do. That's our agenda today. So when we dismiss,
-
second grade down, we'll go to the classroom.
-
Third grade and up stays in here with me. And
-
we've been having some fun on these nights. So
-
we're going to have a little fun today. It's
-
going to be different. It's been different every
-
single time yet. This is how the Lord led me
-
to do it. So we're going to do it. So new prayer
-
requests. Obviously, without getting into too
-
many details, I would encourage you to pray for
-
Juanita. How is she going to do some life change?
-
But she had a pretty tragic event last week that
-
she's recovering from. She's praying for her.
-
Can you pray for Rachel? I did not get a report
-
about today. I don't know if you want to share
-
or let her. It's a so -so report, so we'll just
-
go with that for now. We'll pray for Rachel.
-
She's nursing her heart. What's your teacher's
-
first name? Do you know the first name? You're
-
going to go visit somebody. Okay, anybody else?
-
Add them in. All right, let's pray together.
-
We're all praying together. John's saying the
-
words, but in your head you're hearing the words,
-
and you're saying to God whatever it is that
-
the Lord's laying on your heart. Father in heaven,
-
you are our all -father. Your name is hallowed
-
there. It's recognized all throughout the heavens
-
and all throughout the spiritual realm. We want
-
it to be recognized everywhere on the earth.
-
We recognize you alone are God. We submit. That
-
means that the things that have happened in our
-
past that we don't agree with, we recognize you're
-
using them for your glory. You're building us
-
up. You're creating a future. You have a better
-
plan. You're taking us somewhere we definitely
-
want to go. We're grateful for all of it. At
-
the same time, Lord, we confess to you that some
-
things that happen, we don't understand why they
-
happen. We get questioning. Some things that
-
need to happen, we are reluctant to let them
-
happen or make them happen. And that's it. Some
-
things that you want from us, we're reluctant
-
to render, to surrender. And that's it. So we
-
confess to you, Lord, that we need your help
-
to deal with those things. Be forgiven. Thank
-
you, Lord, that you brought us to this place
-
tonight. Give us the opportunity to be here.
-
What a beautiful time. It's a spring day, but
-
I'm not convinced we're done with winter yet,
-
but maybe whatever. You can do whatever you want.
-
We're grateful. Thank you for every person that
-
made the point of being here. Thank you for every
-
person that really wanted to be here and could
-
for whatever reason. Thank you for helping me
-
personally to overcome certain barriers, for
-
being so real to us that we know that we can
-
lift this prayer up to you and that you're not
-
only hearing that, but you're acting on it. I
-
ask you, Lord, to do every request that we just
-
made. Be with Juanita and with what she's going
-
through and what she just went through. dealing
-
with the temptation that's kind of in her face
-
all the time, that you would hold her firmly
-
and give her strength. Heal her. She repents.
-
She runs to you. She's looking at you. And so
-
we actually guide her, going, what we actually
-
do is just petri, or it's a wake -up call to
-
realize that people your same age now are passing
-
away. Life is shorter than most people want to
-
think. They think, well, it never happened to
-
me. Nothing ever happens. It's never going to
-
happen. It's going to be difficult. The truth
-
is, it is. It happens. You've got to deal with
-
them when they come up. When you lose loved ones
-
and you mourn. And as long as you want us to
-
still be here serving you, working, we pray that.
-
we'll come to you with that. I ask you for the
-
lessons that are prepared for tonight, that they
-
would honor you, that we would be able to speak
-
when we're spoken to, that we'd be able to listen
-
to the material, really the verse, and then we
-
would be reminded that this verse is power packed
-
for every single one of us when we're in this
-
room. And I know Ms. Sherry had the great lesson
-
for the young ones. And I pray, Lord, that you
-
would work there just the same and maybe, because,
-
you know, we would sacrifice ourselves for the
-
young ones. And so, Lord, it would only be one
-
or the other. It doesn't have to be, but only
-
one or the other. to take care of that. We need
-
them because they have a whole life ahead of
-
them to serve you and to give you glory. Father,
-
help us with the things that we're facing. We
-
pray for Rachel, we pray for Caitlin, we pray
-
for Amalia, we pray for Erin who's stuck away
-
out of town again. Lord, you can do it and we
-
trust you with it. We pray all of you can do
-
it. Okay, this time if you're in the second grade
-
or down, you can go to the classroom with Miss
-
Sherry. Now it risks this other person. Okay.
-
Horses. So I'm handing out a worksheet. Right
-
now, we are not doing anything with the worksheet.
-
You can color on it if you really feel bored.
-
But other than that, we're not doing anything
-
with the worksheet yet. One, two, three. I have
-
so many responsibilities already, I can't handle
-
that one too. Okay, as I said, if you didn't
-
hear me already, we are not doing anything with
-
the worksheet just yet. We have some stuff that
-
we're going to do first, okay? So we're going
-
to talk briefly today about leadership or a type
-
of leadership. I've been thinking a lot about
-
leadership lately because people always tell
-
pastors that they're supposed to be good leaders.
-
I mentioned this in my sermon on Sunday that
-
that's really not a fair assessment. So pastors
-
are not supposed to be good leaders in the traditional
-
sense. We're supposed to be maybe an example
-
of what it means to be a Christian or whatever
-
like that. In the Bible verse that we're going
-
to read here in a second, Paul writes to Timothy.
-
And he flips the script of the idea of that,
-
like a lot of people think, Ariana needs one
-
yet. A lot of people think you need decades of
-
experience or that you need a degree or something
-
or like that to be a leader. And Paul totally
-
changes that up. So you're going to see here
-
in this verse, Paul's idea of what a leader is.
-
In this verse, he's not giving him a pep talk.
-
He was giving him a blueprint. Does everybody
-
know what a blueprint is? You don't even really
-
hear that term very much anymore. But like an
-
architectural design, a blueprint, a schematic,
-
a layout of how things are going to go together.
-
That's what this verse is. Okay, so let's read
-
the verse. Anybody want to read it? It is 1 Timothy
-
4 .12. It's in the worksheet that I gave you
-
on the book. 1 Timothy 4 .12. It'll seem a little
-
familiar to you when you hear it. Probably it's
-
not super uncommon. Going once. Who's going to
-
read it? Me? All right. Tony, it's eight. Nice
-
and loud. Yep. Okay. So if this is not a pep
-
talk, like tell them, hey, do better or hey,
-
do this and everything will be fine. If it's
-
not a pep talk. and it's a blueprint, then you
-
almost could take this and break it down and
-
say, so if I want to be an example for the believers
-
in speech, then I could make myself an A, B,
-
C, I'm going to do this. If I'm going to be an
-
example in speech, I'm going to be like this.
-
If I'm going to be an example in life or in that
-
translation or in conduct in another translation,
-
then I'm going to be these things. You could
-
break those things down and follow them, and
-
then you would be what Paul is telling Timothy
-
is a leader. So here's the five specific areas
-
that were in the verse. I'm using the New American
-
Standard Version, so you'll hear the word conduct.
-
By the time we're done, we'll hear it a couple
-
of times. How many more do you need? One? Okay.
-
I sent one for you. It's okay. If you have an
-
extra one back there, just hang on to it. Mr.
-
Tim will come in eventually. Okay, so five specific
-
areas. Speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
-
And conduct or life, sometimes life, it's the
-
way you live, right? So age is not on the list.
-
In this room, we have people that are 11. Kyler,
-
how old are you? I didn't mean to catch you off
-
guard with that. You knew that, right? You knew
-
you were eight? Okay, so he's eight, right? And
-
then we have some people that are... Quite a
-
bit older than that, okay? We'll just go there,
-
okay? And so this is not about age. It's not
-
on the list. You could also say education, not
-
on the list. You could also say experience, not
-
really on the list, right? None of those things
-
are on the list. So integrity doesn't have a
-
birth date. So integrity is when you're a whole
-
person and you're functioning. It's working for
-
you, right? So it doesn't start at a certain
-
moment in time. Now, if you're a Christian, it's
-
supposed to sort of start birthing then, but
-
there's got to be somewhere along the road that
-
you're picking up, right? So whether you're eight
-
or 80, your life is a sermon. So let's look at
-
how that looks in action. Okay, so Kashawn, I
-
need you to come up here for a second. You're
-
not going to teach, I promise. All right. Teach,
-
teach. Okay, so what do you see in the jug? I
-
see water. Okay, I want you to put one good -sized
-
drop of this in that jug. Everybody watch the
-
water for a second there, one good -sized drop.
-
Right back up in the thing. Okay, now what do
-
you see in the jug? I see water. Okay, and what
-
else? I see a color. All right, what color? White.
-
All right, so you put one drop of... this gel
-
color in the jug. Do you see one drop now? What
-
do you see now? Okay, so there's a great big
-
pile down there. That's probably the one drop.
-
Oh, yeah. It's spreading. Yeah, it's spreading.
-
Okay, now I'll show you something. I'm going
-
to take this highlighter, stir the jug, just
-
stir the water up. We're waiting. Okay, very
-
good. All right. Okay. So, as Kishan just demonstrated
-
to us that, When you put a drop of blue inside
-
the water, the blue doesn't stay in one spot.
-
It only takes a drop of blue. And you can see
-
now, if you look at this water, what do you see?
-
It's pretty much all blue, right? And it's only
-
going to get more so because there's still quite
-
a bit piled up on the bottom down there. It's
-
disseminating, spreading out through the water.
-
And that's how it works. Whatever you bring to
-
a situation. However you behave, and you could
-
say however you behave in speech, in conduct,
-
in love, in faith, and in purity, right? However
-
you behave, but you also could say if you come
-
with foul language, or if you come with a vindictive
-
attitude, or if you come with an idea that you're
-
going to get over on people, you're going to
-
make out the best in the situation, or if you
-
come with a desire for control, whatever it might
-
be, whatever you bring to the situation, that's
-
going to change the environment around you, okay?
-
And that's what he's talking about. So, for example,
-
if you stand up for someone who's being teased,
-
right, that's conduct, bad conduct being perpetrated
-
on them, you stand up for them when they're being
-
teased, then your standing up for them is going
-
to affect the environment. Now, it's not going
-
to just make bad behavior suddenly go away. That
-
bad behavior is also already in the environment,
-
okay? So it's there. Now, when you come in and
-
you behave a certain kind of way, you're changing
-
the environment. So you can think of it like
-
if someone's being mean and you come in and you're
-
nice or gentle or kind, you're... polluting the
-
environment which is filled with their meanness.
-
with your gentleness and kindness. See that?
-
And it may not turn the environment to be all
-
gentleness and kindness. This is blue, but it's
-
not as blue as the gel, right? Except in that
-
little spot on the bottom. It'll disseminate
-
through the whole thing. It'll never be so blue
-
as to look like the blue that came out of this
-
tube because it's not enough blue, right? But
-
your gentleness, kindness, goodness, etc. is
-
going to affect the whole environment around
-
you. It doesn't stay in one spot. It spreads,
-
even though it starts out small, one little act
-
of kindness, one little thing that you say, one
-
little act of love. When you live out your faith,
-
you're not just living for yourself. Has anybody
-
here ever had fish? Raise your hand if you ever
-
had a fish in your house. Kyle, you had fish,
-
didn't you? Did you guys have fish? Okay, so
-
about half of us have had fish. Tell me something
-
about fish water. River, go. It stinks. Okay,
-
does it stink when you first put it in the tank
-
or later? Yeah, later. Okay. Haley, tell me something
-
else about fish. Fish water. Yep. Algae grows
-
in there. And if you get too much algae, your
-
fish have trouble unless they happen to be an
-
algae eater. What about you, Kyler? Can you tell
-
me something about fish water? And what about
-
the water that you put in that? Can you just
-
take it right out of the faucet? Or do you have
-
to do something to it? you put it in the tank
-
yeah so you treat fish water because city water
-
is poisonous to freshwater fish also you acclimate
-
the temperature of the water because you might
-
have a warm water fish this can handle 78 80
-
degrees but the water coming out of your faucet
-
is not 78 to 80 degrees so if you feel if the
-
tank gets down about a third and then you fill
-
it all the way up with cold water now you're
-
lowering the temperature in the tank too much
-
for the fish to survive possibly or you might
-
make them sick so basically when you live out
-
your faith, you aren't just being good for yourself.
-
You're changing the water around you to give
-
everybody the best opportunity to survive, to
-
give everybody the best opportunity to be their
-
best self. You don't need to be the biggest person
-
in the room in order to change the color of the
-
water. We had one tiny little drop. Okay. In
-
fact, If I had taken, Ari had just finished off
-
her propel water. If I had taken her propel water
-
and poured a whole cup of it in this water, the
-
color would not hardly change at all, even though
-
that was a cup. And the color changed almost
-
completely to blue with just a drop, okay? So
-
the things that you bring in, if somebody's being
-
mean and you come in and you just be mean, they're
-
not going to change the water at all. You're
-
doing the same thing everybody else is doing,
-
right? But if they're being mean and you come
-
in and you're gentle or kind, then you're going
-
to begin to push the water around you in a certain
-
kind of way. of a direction so that people can,
-
and then there might actually be somebody else
-
in the room will go, you know, I think I'd rather
-
be gentle and kind. And they want to go that
-
way instead because you're changing the water
-
for everybody when you change the water. Okay.
-
All right. So the next part, we're going to have
-
Ariana come up and she's going to teach the next
-
part. I did not get my notes today. So, well,
-
Carson really wanted to, and Sissy is supposed
-
to be sending him in in a second so that he can
-
pass. So, okay. We're hearing you real good,
-
but we're going to put this on you anyway. You're
-
doing a good job. Then I don't have to talk loudly.
-
Go. Okay, today we're going to start with an
-
activity, wake you up a little bit. Everybody
-
needs to find one person next to them. So if
-
you don't have somebody sitting next to you,
-
feel free to move around, find somebody, find
-
a partner. Everybody has a partner. If we have
-
an uneven amount, then we can do three for one
-
person. I promise nobody bites. Not ordinarily.
-
If someone has a partner, we can move it around.
-
Stand down here. I don't like this. All right,
-
tell us what to do. Okay, so once we have a partner...
-
Everyone done moving? Okay. Once we have a partner,
-
one of you guys is going to make a silly, funny,
-
weird face and the other one has to copy it exactly.
-
Okay, has everyone copied their partner's face?
-
Okay. Now we see that it's very easy to copy
-
somebody when they're right in front of you.
-
Okay, done. Lost my train of thought. You're
-
doing great. Okay. Sorry about that. So now we
-
see that when someone is right in front of you,
-
it's very easy to copy them. So I want everybody
-
in your mind to think of some kind of word. A
-
word that you want people around you to copy.
-
So you could think kindness. You want to be kind
-
so that people around you will also be kind.
-
So think of a word in your mind. And we were
-
supposed to have Carson come in here. Apparently
-
he's not in here yet. So we're going to pass
-
out sticky notes. And everybody is going to write
-
down their word on a... sticky note. And once
-
we have wrote down our word on the sticky note,
-
we are going to put it on the mirror that is
-
outside in the hallway that Pastor Dan has gotten
-
close and placed out there as a promise. So when
-
we put the sticky note on the mirror, you are
-
promising that you are going to do your best
-
to act in this way so that people around you
-
can reflect off it. Write your word on your post
-
-it note, and instead go put it on the mirror
-
and call it. Please don't pack the mirrors out.
-
Throw them in the mirror and make a mess. Everybody
-
got one? Something that you think would be good
-
for people to follow your example this week.
-
Something godly. Now if you stick it out in the
-
back mirror, come back in. It's really hard.
-
You can always pick speech, conduct, love, faith,
-
or purity. They're in the verse. If you can't
-
think of anything else, one of those will do.
-
Okay, is everybody back in the room? All right.
-
So don't get too comfy where you are because
-
now we're going to get up and move. So if you
-
are an adult, you're going to come to this section
-
over here. If you are a teenager, you're going
-
to come to this middle section here. If you are
-
a child, you're going to meet by the tree. Adults
-
over there. Teenagers in the middle. Children
-
over there. Okay, you're with the teenagers.
-
Josh has the adults. Okay, so what's going to
-
happen, listen, what's going to happen is we're
-
going to lead you briefly. Kids, be quiet. Thank
-
you. We're going to lead you briefly through
-
a discussion. We're going to ask three questions,
-
and then you're going to talk about it as your
-
group. Teenagers in the middle, adults over there,
-
kids over here. Those who are asking the questions,
-
once you've done that, just cue me, and then
-
we'll get everybody back. One drop goes a long
-
way. Perfect. Okay. So grab your worksheet that
-
I passed out at the beginning. Okay, can you
-
step away from that area, please? You were seated
-
over here. I understand. You can do that after.
-
You can take her home. We're done in 15 minutes.
-
You can wait 15 minutes. She can wait 15 minutes.
-
It gives me an opportunity to talk to her after
-
anyway. Okay, so we're on the worksheet. Youth
-
Worth Watching. Okay? So you've got three activities
-
on this worksheet. One of them is homework. It's
-
very easy. You can do it later. Okay? So the
-
first thing we're going to look at is on the
-
bottom. It is the crossword puzzle. Okay? All
-
right? You ready? We're going to do it together.
-
Okay? Number one down. It's the big word right
-
down the middle. Having traits of a lack of years.
-
Youthfulness. That's correct. That's the only
-
really, really long word. So it's Y -O -U -T
-
-H -F -U -L -N -E -S -S. All the way down that
-
big long line. Youthfulness. Comes right out
-
of the verse. Don't let anyone look down on you
-
because you are young. Youthfulness. Okay. Choosing
-
to act for another person. Two down. This one's
-
a little tricky. Think about it. Two down. Four
-
letter word. Choosing to act for another person.
-
You could put that there, but it won't get you
-
what you're trying to get. It's love, okay? So
-
here's the thing. In society, love is, oh, I
-
love tacos. They taste so good, right? That is
-
a misuse of the word love. In the Bible, love
-
is when you choose to act on behalf of somebody
-
else. Jesus so loved us. God so loved the world
-
that he sent his only begotten son. Jesus so
-
loved us, right? So love is when you act for
-
somebody else. You can say I love you all that
-
you want, but if you don't act on behalf of that
-
person, you're basically using words, not actually
-
backing up your words, okay? Three down. On the
-
other hand, but, it's but, B -U -T. Let me know
-
if you're falling behind. Kyle, you got it. Writing
-
your tense, you're writing these words in these
-
blanks. You're a puzzle master. According to
-
what I hear, you're really good at puzzles. Okay.
-
Five down. Correct. Show. Josh also is a puzzle
-
master. Josh and Kyler are puzzle masters in
-
this room at least. Actually, I think solo is
-
really good. Aren't you really good at puzzle
-
solo? That's what I heard. I don't know who told
-
me that. Okay. Seven down. Talk with your mouth.
-
Say it again. Speech is correct, sir. Seven down.
-
Speech. Talk with your mouth. Eleven down. Use
-
your eyes. Did you say see? Look. It's look.
-
Or in the... It should be 11 down. Yeah, 11 down
-
on the left -hand side there. 11 down. Look.
-
13 down. Okay, the 11 down is all the way over
-
on the left -hand side. No, the other 11 is across.
-
Oh, it's not supposed to be 11, though. That's
-
why. No, it says 14. Where's 11? 11 down. Where's
-
another 11? Oh, I see it. That's weird. Okay,
-
the one over there is actually a 1. The little
-
one is 1 down. No, that's not right. Oh, it's
-
17. That's what it is. It's 17. Either I didn't
-
write it good or it didn't copy good. 17 is a
-
down. It is to allow. We'll do it right now so
-
we can get it out of the way. To allow is what?
-
Three words. 17 down. To allow. It's let. L -E
-
-T. To let someone do something is to allow them
-
to do something. We haven't done it yet. Okay.
-
All right. Seven down was talk with mouth. We'll
-
go over that one again if we need to. All right.
-
11 down now is on the left -hand side. Use your
-
eyes. Look. 11 down on the left -hand side. Four
-
letters. L -O -O -K. 13 down. So you're going
-
to just over to the right a little bit. The opposite
-
of up is down. Correct. Okay. 15 down. Where's
-
15 down at? Next to the black square. Yep. Next
-
to the black square going straight down. 15 down.
-
It is only right stuff all the way. Think about
-
the verse. Now it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 letters.
-
Love is four letters. Purity is correct. Yep,
-
purity. So like if you have a loaf of bread and
-
it's got mold in it, it's not pure because it's
-
not bread all the way through anymore, right?
-
So purity means it's all the same stuff. If you
-
have water and it's pure water, it's just water
-
all the way through. But if it's got toxic chemicals
-
in it or something, then it's not pure. Only
-
write stuff all the way. Okay, 16 down. Correct,
-
I think. Wait, no. 16 down. No, it's not have.
-
Where is it at? No. Okay. I see it. It's go over
-
from purity. It's four letters going straight
-
down. It's your, Y -O -U -R, when you own it.
-
It's your house. It's your car when you own it.
-
Okay. And then 17 down to allow is let, if you
-
didn't get that already. So you should have all
-
the downs done. We skipped five though. I think
-
actually it was exhibit. It is show. Yes. If
-
you didn't get it already, I don't think I said
-
it, but it is show. 16 down when you own it.
-
Your. Y -O -U -R. Your house. Your car. Your
-
butt. Your hair. Okay. Across. Four across. Something
-
different. Four across. Something different.
-
It's a tough one. The hardest one if you ask
-
me. It's rather. Rather. 17 down is let. You
-
let someone pick on you. You let someone give
-
you a present. Okay. Four across. Something different
-
is rather. The middle top. Rather. Or rat -er.
-
R -A -T -H -E -R. Six. Six. Multiple. Over there.
-
Who? Say it again. Correct. Those. Those over
-
there. And it's kind of in the middle left. Upper
-
left. Eight. Across. Yes. Someone has read a
-
Bible verse at one time in their life. Faith
-
is the correct word. Faith. Hope in something
-
unseen. Faith. Okay. Nine. Yeah. Nailed it. The
-
opposite of off is on. It's that tiny little
-
word on the right -hand side there, on, okay?
-
10, across, one that stands out of or from. Example
-
is correct. Right smack dab in the middle. 12,
-
12 across, choices and behavior. Oh, it's the
-
furthest left box all the way to the left. It
-
probably looks like a 17. It's a 12. Okay, anyway,
-
so we got faith. We got on. One who stands out
-
is an example. 12, choices and behavior. So it's
-
all the way the furthest left box across. Say
-
it again. Conduct. Conduct. Okay, 14 across.
-
To take it as fact and act. Okay, it's almost
-
in the middle. Just look down from example. Say
-
again. No. Believe. To believe. Take it as fact
-
and act is to believe. And then 16 across is
-
the last one. Youth to you, yourself. Okay. Help
-
your neighbors make sure all the blanks are filled.
-
We're going to do it. That's the last thing we
-
have to do. Okay. Number five, exhibit is show.
-
We did do it. I missed it the first time through,
-
and then I caught it later, and then RJ said
-
we already did it. Oh, we actually have done
-
it for sure now. Show. Okay? So now if you look
-
at words meditation, 14 across, take it as fact,
-
and act is believe. 16 across is you to you yourself.
-
We got them? We good? Okay. All right. So we're
-
going to do an example of meditation. And you've
-
seen this example once before. So I'm going to
-
read the verse. And we're going down the left
-
-hand side. In the first box, I want you to put
-
the number 2. In the very first box. And then
-
put a dash. Put 2 dash. And what we're going
-
to do is we're going to count the number of words
-
in the verse that have two letters. I'll help
-
you. It's not that hard. And I'm using the New
-
American Standard Version. The top box on the
-
left, you're going to put the number two and
-
then put a dash. Zayden, are you listening to
-
me? I'm the one talking, so you've got to listen.
-
Two, dash. And the top box on the left -hand
-
side under the word meditation. All right? And
-
then we're going to read the verse. We're going
-
to count the number of words with two letters.
-
And I'll help you. All right? So it says, let
-
no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather
-
in speech, conduct, love. faith, and purity,
-
show yourself an example of those who believe.
-
Note four. Five. Of is five, all right? So it's
-
two dash five, all right? Those are all the two
-
-letter words. So you should, in that top box,
-
you should have two dash five. And then in the
-
big long box there, you can write no, on, in,
-
an, and of, okay? No, on, in, an, and of. No,
-
on, in, an, an, of. Those are all the two -letter
-
words, okay? Now we're gonna do three -letter
-
words. So in the next box, put three dash. You're
-
getting the idea, I think. Okay. So it's let.
-
That's a three -letter word. No one look down
-
on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct,
-
love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example
-
of those who believe. So the answer is five.
-
So it's three -five. And the words are what?
-
It's not and. It's an. A -N. And is three letters.
-
You're right, though. You got that right. Okay.
-
There's no and in the whole verse, actually,
-
just an and. Oh, yes, there is. There is an and.
-
It's in the three letters. So the words were
-
let, one, but, and, who. Now we're kind of almost
-
kind of get, like, you kind of hear the verse
-
a little bit. With all the three little words,
-
you can almost kind of hear the verse a little
-
bit. Let, one, but, and, who. Okay. Four -letter
-
words. You get less and less. It goes faster
-
and faster because you get less and less. All
-
right. Four -letter words. Let no one look. Down
-
on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct,
-
love, faith, and purity, show yourselves an example
-
of those who believe. So there's five again.
-
4 -5. I don't get it. I'm going to tell you right
-
now what they are. Look down your love show.
-
Well, that's what meditation is for. See, meditation
-
makes you drill down on those things and figure
-
it out. Let one. One is the other one. O -N -E.
-
So you should have two, five, three, five, four,
-
five. And the words there were look down your
-
love show. So again, kind of hear the verse in
-
there. Okay, the next one's pretty fast. Five
-
letter words. Let no one look down on your youthfulness,
-
but rather in speech. conduct, love, faith, and
-
purity. Show yourself an example of those who
-
believe. So faith and those. Faith and those.
-
5 -2. Yep. If you look at this, you can start
-
to see patterns. Okay? Do it again. Everybody
-
got those two? Faith and those. Six -letter words.
-
Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but
-
rather, in speech, Conduct, love, faith, and
-
purity. Show yourself an example of those who
-
believe. Rather, speech, purity. 6 -3. Rather,
-
speech, purity. As it is right now, we only have
-
five words left in the whole verse. We've done
-
every word of the verse except for five words.
-
So that really tells you something. Rather, speech,
-
purity. Conduct is seven. Is it? Yep, yeah, seven.
-
Okay? Now seven -letter words. No, you didn't.
-
You're meditating. This stuff happens when you're
-
meditating, okay? Let no one look down on your
-
youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct,
-
love, faith, purity, show yourself an example
-
of those who believe. Three. Three words. Seven
-
-three. Example, believe, conduct. Now we only
-
have two words left. Does anybody know without
-
looking what they are? Yourself is one, so it's
-
8 -1. The box is 8 -1, and then the word is yourself.
-
That leaves one word left, youthfulness. And
-
so it's a 12 -letter word, 12 -letter word, 12
-
-1, youthfulness. And then in the box on the
-
bottom, you can put 25. Now, if I was doing this
-
meditation, guess what I would do next? What
-
would you do next? What would be the very next
-
thing you would do? Count the total number of
-
words in the verse and confirm that you have
-
them all, right? So if you did this, you'd go
-
2 -5, 3 -5, you add it all up, you get down to
-
25. Then you go back to the Bible and you go
-
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and you get to the end and you'll
-
find there are 25 words. That means you've got
-
them all. If you had 24 words. but the verse
-
has 25 words, then you would go through and figure
-
out which one you're missing. That's called meditating.
-
By the time you're done, you know more, you feel
-
more, you hear more, you see more on this verse
-
than you would if you had just read it and even
-
memorized it, even if you memorized it. So Jason,
-
without looking at the Bible, not asking you
-
to do it from memory, just tell me basically
-
what does this verse say? Good, okay. So you'd
-
be a leader through your youthfulness and your
-
faith. That would be it, right? So if you went
-
to somebody and said, hey, there's a verse in
-
the Bible, I don't know, I think it's in 1 Timothy
-
around chapter four, and it says you should be
-
an example in your youthfulness and faith. Would
-
you be telling the truth or lying? No, you'd
-
be telling the truth because that's what it says,
-
right? That would be the truth of that verse.
-
Now, Mike, tell me in your own words, basically,
-
just something simple. What does this verse say
-
to you? Say it again. 1 Timothy 4 .12, the one
-
we've been studying. Shh. What do you think,
-
Mike? You're not sure? Okay, Holly, you give
-
it to me. What do you think? Come on, you can
-
do it. You don't need the whole thing. What would
-
you do? Based on this, what are you going to
-
do? Okay, there you go. So you can say 1 Timothy
1 Timothy 4 chapter mention
-
chapter 4 somewhere. There is a verse that reminds
-
me that I need to show young people faithfulness.
-
Would you be telling the truth? Absolutely. And
-
you didn't get that from memorization. You got
-
it from meditation. See it? Okay. We're done.
-
You can write the verse just for fun if you want.
-
You can write the verse in the Bible I did online
-
sometime when you want to if you want to write
-
it again. That was the only other thing. Good
-
job. All right, let's pray together briefly,
-
and then we'll go snacking. Father in heaven,
-
thank you so much for the reminder to the adults
-
that young people need a good example. Also to
-
the reminder that we're not as old as we think
-
we are, that there is a youthfulness to us because
-
we're born again. So like I've been living for
-
55, almost 56 years, but the truth is I've been
-
really living for just over 30 years since you
-
saved my soul and made me born again. And I pray,
-
Lord, that we will be an example to the young
-
people and that we'll be a youthful example to
-
those who are older than us. I pray that we will
-
be. an example in conduct and in speech. And
-
we will believe and let people see us believing
-
because that changes the water. It changes the
-
area around so that they also can believe. And
-
we will be found faithful doing the things that
-
we're supposed to be doing because that changes
-
the water. It makes it so that people can be
-
faithful. And they don't necessarily want to.
-
They're struggling with their own issues. And
-
we just pray, Lord, that we'll be able to help
-
anybody who needs help to draw a little closer
-
to you. At the very least, we won't be standing
-
in the way, but be a good example through and
-
through, from beginning to end, inside, outside.
-
That's what we desire. We know we have a way
-
to go, and you can take it there. We pray all
-
this in Jesus' name. Amen. Thank you very much.
-
On the way out, take a peek at the mirror, if
-
you would, and think about how you're going to
-
represent those traits this week. Hi. Hello.
