thank you father, for forward anointing an atmosphere that has reminded us that you make all things new.

We're not going back, we're moving.

Going back, we're moving ahead.

Thank you, master.

Break through the walls of depression, break through the walls of sadness.

Give us an ear to hear Speak Holy Ghost, like a man you can.

I pray over our students that are in youth church.

Bless them, lord.

I pray that some of the students will give their lives to you.

I pray over the sisters and brothers in here.

Bless them, lord.

Speak to every situation today, answer the unanswered questions.

Move like only you can move.

Heal like only you can heal.

Touch like only you can touch.

I thank you, god, for our music ministry.

I pray right now over the organist, over the keyboardist, over the guitarist, over the drummer, over the praise team.

Pray right now, god, that you continue to feel them as they pour out.

Pray that you use them in this message as well, because when you get through speaking, we came to celebrate what you said.

So speak to them, because their gift is about to help somebody get saved.

There's a word from the Lord today found in the book of Deuteronomy, the eighth chapter, verse one through ten.

Deuteronomy, the eighth chapter, verse one through ten.

Deuteronomy eight, verse one through ten.

I want to share with you that as I start my sermon today.

There, I got to give us a little bit of history so that we can know where we're going.

Is that all right with y'all?

But you will see how the history aligns with the text if you pay careful attention.

As we're standing to our feet, let's read the word of the lord aloud together, ready, set, read, be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today.

Then you will live and multiply and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.

Remember how the Lord, your God, led you through the wilderness for these 40 years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.

Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors.

He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone.

Rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

That comes from the mouth of the Lord.

For all these 40 years, your clothes didn't wear out and your feet didn't blister or swell.

Think about it Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord, your God, disciplines you for your own good.

So obey the commands of the Lord, your God, by walking in his ways and fearing him, for the Lord, your God, is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out into valleys and hills.

It is a land of wheat and barley, of grapevines, fig trees and pomegranates, of olive oil and honey.

It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking.

It is a land where iron is as common as stone and copper is abundant in the hills.

When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord, your God, for the good land he has given you, and I would just like to use as a subject today, as the Holy Spirit would allow look where he brought me from, Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Can you just turn to about two people and say look where he's brought me from Matter of fact, if you feel real good, spin around one time so they can see where the Lord has brought you from.

Come on, you feeling good, you got some self-confidence because of what God has done in your life.

Say look at me, child, look where he has brought me from.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, you may be seated in the presence of our Lord.

A couple of weeks ago, we took some budding leaders to Calverton, maryland, for a leadership training, but also somewhat of a vision trip, so that I could show them an amazing ministry that was doing great works in the kingdom, to let them know that there is no secret to what God can do.

The same way he's done it for others, he can do it for me and for you.

After our work was done on the last day, we decided to journey to the National Museum of African American History.

How many of you all have had a chance to go there?

Some have, man.

This museum was opened September 24, 2016.

Ironically, it was in 1915 where World War II veterans came back home and asked for some type of museum to commemorate the work of African Americans in the community.

They've been asking for this since 1915.

Finally, around 2001, congress finally said yes, and 13 years later or so, this vision finally came to pass.

It started as an ask in 1915.

In 2016, it finally came to pass.

This is an amazing museum family so amazing that you really can't take it all in in one day.

It consists of four levels, but there's the heritage level, the lower level, where they say that you should start, because if you look at the shape of the building, it's kind of shaped almost like a inverted pyramid, because the museum has taken on the mantra in some regards of started at the bottom.

Now we are here.

If you go to the top, you'll see all of the things that we are doing presently, all of our wonderful doctors and engineers and entrepreneurs and actresses and actors and athletes and all of the things we've done in politics.

But if you're really going to understand, sometimes you got to look back to see where the Lord has brought you from, and so they will tell you that don't start at the top, because if you start at the top, you're not going to understand how you got there.

That's some people Some of y'all were born at the top.

That's why you don't understand how you got to where you.

There are some, some of our children, my children, are eight years old.

They have no understanding of why they can go to a school that's that's integrated.

They don't understand why they can do because that was born into this.

They were born at a higher level than their grandparents and their great grandparents, and so for my boys to understand, one day I'm going to have to take them on this journey to this museum so they could understand the impact and they can look back and see where the Lord has brought them from.

Y'all don't mind if we take a brief history lesson, do you to look back at where God has brought us from?

So me and my wife, we started at the bottom, and at the bottom there is the area where they talk about involuntary servitude, slavery, to say it as it is, to call a thing as it was.

On that bottom level you experience things like shackles, these shackles that were actually used on our sisters and brothers to keep them in the bondage.

There is an actual former slave shack, because it wasn't.

It ain't no house, it's a shack, a slave shack that they have brought in, and you can see what our ancestors had to live in and how there was not a lot of paneling and how they would have had to endure the cold weather, nothing but these thin boards keeping them from the elements from outside.

And we were able to see that we go around the bend, y'all, and there's this little cutoff and it's dark and it's quiet, and in there it replicates what it's like to be in a slave ship and there's a voice that starts to talk.

It is the.

It is the narration of a former slave captain talking about how it was interesting that the people that were taken captive, how they would often fight and if they couldn't fight, they would take their own lives, because their theology was that give me liberty or give me death, and their theology was that, even if I die, I want to go back and be with my ancestors than to send my life in bondage.

And they talked about how some would jump over the ship and how some would take their own lives at the bottom of the deck and the smell because they weren't allowed to clean themselves, and how they would just throw food and feed them as if they were hogs.

And I'm looking at all of these things and I'm feeling some type of way.

I'll be honest with you.

You start to feel some type of way as you go through, and I'm traveling through, and I make it a little bit further.

And as I make it a little bit further, it starts to talk about life on a plantation, but then it starts to talk about an individual by the name of Nat Turner.

Now, some of you may know Nat Turner as a rebel rouser because that's what they taught you in history class.

But we should really be calling him Apostle Nat Turner.

We should be calling him Bishop Nat Turner, because history tells us that he was a preacher.

And there was this letter by this lady by the name of Eleanor Whalen, from Virginia, who wrote to her daughters about one of the rebellions that was led by Nat Turner.

The letter reads as follows Dear children, you appear to be very much alarmed about us respecting the Negroes rising.

We have no cause of alarm at a present moment, but how soon, we can't say.

All the mischief was confined to one county in the lower part of this state, the county of Southampton.

There were about 67 persons, old and young, put to death by about eight or ten Negro ringleaders and some few.

They forced to assist them, say from 20 to 30, headed by a Negro preacher.

Somebody say Negro preacher.

All the murders were done in about 24 hours.

They have all been taken and put to death.

But General Nat the preacher absconded and kept out of the way for several weeks but he was at last taken and put to death.

Watch this, she said.

We hope our government will take some steps to put down this Negro preaching.

It is those large assemblies of Negroes that cause mischief.

Perhaps this is what John Lewis was declaring when he said that we can no longer gather just on Sunday and on Wednesday.

Every now and then we got to get together for some good trouble.

We got to get together and be who God has called us to be.

Pastor Robinson, I want to remind you that the mandate on your life as a pastor, and all of these clergy in the room, is to be able to speak truth to power.

Our mandate is to not make sure that, no matter what, our voice cannot be silenced.

I want to talk to some people in the room.

Reverend Shank, don't let nobody silence your voice.

There is something that even the adversary understood about when we get together and pray, when we get together filled with the power of the Holy Ghost and when God speaks to our appointed man or woman of God, we can shift some atmospheres.

Don't you know that the civil rights moment, one of the greatest leaders was just a good, old-fashioned Baptist preacher by the name of Martin Luther King Jr?

There is something powerful in proclaiming the prophetic is something powerful in proclaiming the prophetic?

There is something powerful about how God uses an ordinary man or woman of God to do extraordinary works.

And I thank God for the history and the strength of our church, because it is the church that has kept us along the way.

And I've got to be careful of a generation that has forgot about the power of the church.

I'm leery of a generation that has come to the conclusion that we don't need to gather together.

I'm concerned about a generation that has abandoned the prophetic.

I'm here to remind you that if the adversary knew the power of our voice, then why don't you?

I was walking and we made it up to the second floor, but on the way to the second floor I saw historical evidence that even the Civil War wasn't necessarily about the end of slavery.

It was more about economic power and control of the country.

You see, the South had free labor from the way of slavery and they were producing things that could not be produced in the North.

They were producing sugar and rice and tobacco and things of that nature.

Shout out Tobacco Town.

They were producing these things in an environment that could not be produced up north.

In other words, you can't grow sugar and corn and tobacco, you can't grow the beans, the greens, tomatoes, tomatoes in New York City.

So they were not for slavery, not because of a moral place, but they just couldn't grow the stuff.

So what was happening down south?

They had all these free labor and because of that free labor they were growing in money and they were growing in power in Congress.

And the people up north was getting concerned because the south was on the rise.

And so E Lincoln said my objective is not to abolish slavery, but my objective is to make sure that it doesn't expand any further because the South is getting too powerful.

But in the midst of all of that, I want y'all to know that the slaves had a plan.

Somebody said the slaves had a plan.

History suggests that the slaves realized that that was a now or never moment.

Can I tell you that some of y'all are in a now or never moment.

Do it now or do it never.

The slaves realize if we partner up with the union and if we, because they can't beat the South in warfare without us.

That's why I need you to remind you that the power that you have had, we have been in every battle that this nation has fought.

Somebody asked me do you celebrate the 4th of July?

I said I celebrate Juneteenth and the Fourth of July because every battle that this nation has fought we have been there.

Christmas Attic was there at the Revolutionary War, at the Civil War, we manned it up with the 54th and we were there.

After it we had Buffalo soldiers.

We have been there every step of the way.

And it was the slaves that said we will fight with your union, but the only way we're going to fight is that our request is for freedom and the total destruction of slavery.

That's why, in 1863, lincoln kept his promise, but not necessarily from a place of morality.

It was from a place of people who demanded justice for themselves.

And I want to talk to some people in the room and let you know you, of people who demanded justice for themselves.

And I want to talk to some people in the room and let you know you got to demand some stuff for yourself.

There are some of y'all waiting too long for somebody to give you something that you got to demand for yourself.

You keep on waiting on people if you want to.

I'm trying to tell you that some stuff I got to demand for myself.

I got to demand it for my neighborhood, I got to demand it for my family.

I have to demand these things for myself.

But we go a little bit further.

I finally get to the second floor and when I get to the second floor, y'all I got stuck.

I didn't get any further than the second floor because the second floor dealt with the issues as it relates to the Jim Crow South, the post-Civil War times, where laws were put in place for segregation and things of that nature where we couldn't go to school together, we couldn't go to the libraries together, we couldn't sit at the lunch counters together, we couldn't serve in the military together All of these laws that were put in place.

And it was under the Jim Crow laws that a tragedy happened that changed my life when I read about it as a child, and still it has an impact on me today.

We go around this corner, me and Tiffany, and we get around, and on the lower level of the Smithsonian there is this display and when you walk toward it it's the only area in the museum that is roped off and they haven't attended on duty the entire time.

The library is open and he said sir, do you want to come here?

I said yes, what's around there?

He said this is the memorial for Emmett Till.

How many of us know who Emmett Till is?

Yes, emmett Till, a young boy around 14 years old, from Chicago, goes down to Mississippi Money, Mississippi, in August of 1955.

He goes into a store that was owned by a white family and a woman named Carolyn Bryant was there and she told her husband that Emmett Till had flirted with her Side point.

She would later tell you that she lied and made the whole thing up, but at the time, simply because of an allegation of flirting, not assault, not rape, not murder, not kidnap, the fact that the matter that the allegation was that he whistled at her the husband and his half-brother went and found this 14-year-old boy, snatched him out of his uncle's house, they beat him all night, they cut his body and then they shot him with a shotgun.

And then, after they shot him with a shotgun, they put a 75-pound weight around his neck and threw him into the Tallahatchie River and he was in that river for such a long time that his body and his face began to swell and his body began to change.

And when they found his body and they decided to have a funeral, it was an uproar across the nation.

And as they were getting the funeral arrangements together, they were going to have a closed casket funeral because of the decomposition of the body.

But Mother Mamie TO Mobley said no, I want it to be open casket because I want the world to see what they did to my baby boy.

And at this museum y'all, when you come around the corner, the actual casket that young Emmett Till was buried in is right there before your eyes.

Because Mother Till still wants the world to know.

What does she want you to know?

Chosen City.

She needs you to understand where God has brought you from.

She says I don't.

She said teachers are not allowed here because you can't take a picture of this.

She said I want them to come and see the last place that I had to lay down my baby boy.

I want them to see what happened so they never forget.

Bring the school children happen so they never forget.

Bring the school children, bring the seniors, bring everybody so that we can remember where we came from because of what happened to him.

And a couple of months later, when there was a meeting at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church to hear the Reverend Dr TRM Howard speak, there was a young lady there by the name of Rosa Parks.

While a lot of the civil rights movement was planned and some of the boycotts were planned and, yes, this was part of the plan what struck Rosa Parks into action was she declared after what they did to young Emmett Till, I couldn't go to the back of the bus anymore.

Can I talk to some people in the room and let you know that sometimes, when we look back on where God has brought us from, we have to remember every mountain he's brought us over.

We have to remember every trial that he's seen us through.

We have to remember these things and as we remember these things, it helps spark us into action.

As we remember these things, it helps us to remember that if God had done it before, guess what he's going to do it again.

I raise this today, family, as part of our discussion.

You will never be able to fully understand and celebrate where you are if you're not willing to recognize where you came from.

The book of Deuteronomy, in this eighth chapter, is another culture.

It's not the African American culture, it is Jewish culture.

It is the story of the children of Israel, who also find themselves in a similar situation as us who have an African-American experience.

They found themselves living in Egyptian bondage for a mighty long time, matter of fact, over 400 years of bondage.

Sounds very similar, doesn't it?

They lived this way for 400 years and then God sends a deliverer by the name of Moses.

The book of Deuteronomy is essentially the word.

Deuteronomy means it's a repetition, it's a copy of the law.

It is Moses speaking to the people of God who are about to cross over.

You see, after Moses rescued them, what was supposed to be a two weeks journey ended up taking about 40 years.

I'm gonna run that back.

That supposed to let happen in two weeks happened 40, took 40 long years.

And Moses has gotten to the point where God has said you're about to cross over into the promised land.

Moses is giving these sermons the book of Deuteronomy is a book of sermons as he's about, as they're about to cross over into the promised land and they are.

It's about, uh, it's about 39 days before they cross over.

Ironically, we're about 39 or 38 days before we cross over into the new year.

Here's the amazing thing about crossing over that you have discovered in your own life.

As it relates to the crossover, everybody cannot cross with you.

I'm going to say it one more time as it relates to the crossover, everybody can't cross with you.

Moses is giving a speech saying that I had given instructions to your, your forefathers and I told them what to do, but they had become disobedient and so they are not going to be able to cross over into the promised land.

And Moses testified even I, because.

And so they are not going to be able to cross over into the promised land.

And Moses testified even I, because of you, I'm not going to be able to cross over.

Moses upset, because he's not going to be able to cross over, say God, give me a look at what my people are going to be able to experience.

Can I tell you that I believe that there are.

Some of your ancestors got to look at what God was going to do in your life.

They got to look at what God was going to do in your life.

They got to look at you graduating from college.

They got to look at you going ahead and starting a business.

They got to look at what God was going to do in your future because it encouraged them to pray for you, because they knew that God was up to something.

Moses gets a look at what his people will ultimately get in the promised land and, based on that look and he said and God told him that you're not going to cross them over I'm raising up a new leader by the name of Joshua.

That's why it's so critical for us to raise up a new generation of leaders as it relates to where God is trying to take us.

Moses, given his sermon, he starts to speak to them and he says there's a few things that I need you to understand about what is happening here.

He says I need you to understand that you are chosen by God.

Somebody say I'm chosen.

The children of Israel were chosen by God, which, ironically, the fact that the children of Israel are chosen by God is a foreshadowing of the people of God today.

What do you mean, pastor wall?

That's why, first, peter, 2 and 9 is our battle cry because we are a chosen generation, we are a royal priesthood, we are God's special possession, who he has brought out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Somebody needs to say I'm chosen.

And because you are chosen, I got some good news you are about to enter into the promised land.

I got some great news that God is about to take you to a place that you've never been before.

But here is the reality of the situation.

If you're going to go into a place that you've never been before, moses give a warning that you have to look at where he brought you from.

Moses, why is it so important for the people to understand where God has brought us from?

Well, the first lesson that Moses tells us is that we have to look at where God brought us from so we never go back to our wilderness season.

We have to look at where God brought us from so we never go back to our wilderness season.

Look at verse one Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today.

Then you will live and multiply and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.

Moses is talking to them.

Listen.

I need you to be careful and to be obedient to what God is telling you to do.

Moses is saying you're going to a place that I can't go with you, but in my last sermonic presentation I need to give you a warning to obey God.

If you obey God, you will be fruitful and multiply.

Can I talk to about five of you in the room that are praying for increase?

The Lord is saying if you are obedient to him, you're about to enter a season of multiplication and fruitfulness because of your obedience to God.

Here's the reality.

If obedience was easy, everybody would do it.

The reality of it is is obedience is hard.

Y'all.

Can we just be real about it?

Obedience is uncomfortable.

If God is calling you to do something, there is something that is going to have to die.

I'm going to run that back.

Obedience requires the death of something.

Obedience requires the death of the desire of your flesh.

It requires the death of you doing life your way.

Obedience requires the death of something.

Obedience requires you to surrender in a way that you may not be comfortable with surrendering.

Obedience requires you to stop leaning to your own, understand and trust the God that you can't necessarily see in the natural.

Obedience requires you to do some things that will require you to lose some friends.

When you are obedient to God every now and then, people may walk out of your life.

When you are obedient to God every now and then, people may not understand your assignment.

When you are obedient to God every now and then people are going to talk sideways about you.

But I've gotten to the place in my life and I hope you have gotten to that same place in yours that I'd rather trust God and please him than can please some folks that ain't gonna ride with me no way.

Did you hear what I said?

I had to make a decision in my life.

Am I gonna please man or am I gonna please the one that woke me up this morning?

Am I gonna please man or am I gonna please the one that continues to love me even when I don't love myself?

Moses was teaching that if we are not obedient we'll find ourselves back in the wilderness.

Did I tell y'all why a journey that was supposed to take two weeks took 40 years?

It was because of disobedience.

And the Lord is saying don't go back to what I've already delivered you from, and that's what I want to talk to somebody today.

So you got 39 days, 38 days, left in this year.

Don't go back to what the Lord has already delivered you from.

This is not a season to try to go alone, to get alone.

It's not a season to be seeking popularity.

It's not a season to be seeking fame.

It's a season to be about your father's business.

And when you're about your father's business, people around you will not understand.

Key evidence of when I'm about my father's business is when folk don't understand why I do what I do.

But I don't do it for you, I do it to please the Most High.

And God is saying through Moses, through the man of God today, that if you are obedient in this season, eyes have not seen nor ears heard what God has in store for you.

Moses says look at where he brought you from so you never go back to the wilderness season.

Can I ask you another question about your wilderness season?

Do you remember your last wilderness season?

Do you remember that last time where you were in something so bad that you felt like only God can bring you out.

Anybody remember your last wilderness season?

I want to talk to the people that remember their last wilderness season, but I also want to talk to some people that are in the wilderness right now.

See, a room this size is a guaranteed fact that there are some people in here in the wilderness right now.

That's why those of us who have come out of the wilderness can't be ashamed to tell folk how we got out, because there's somebody sitting by me that needs to understand how you got where you got.

There's somebody in the room that needs to understand that you dealt with substance abuse issues.

That was your wilderness.

There's somebody in the room that needs to understand that you dealt with substance abuse issues.

That was your wilderness.

There's somebody in the room that needs to understand that you had some suicidal thoughts in your life.

There's somebody in the room that needs to understand the struggles and the strains of what it looks like to ask God for something, and it looks as if he's not going to open the door.

I want to talk to some people in the room that's in their wilderness season and let you know that your God has not forgot.

Can y'all help the people in the room and let them know that their God has not forgotten about them.

Now go ahead and just encourage them.

So Moses says to us that we have to look back to where we look, to where he brought us from, so we never go back to the wilderness season, because it was our disappointments and it was our decisions that got us in the wilderness in the first place.

It's bad theology to think that it's always satan that put us in the wilderness.

I say it one more time, woman of god, it's bad theology to think that it's always satan that put us in the wilderness.

Now, it's true, because the enemy did lead jesus into the wilderness.

So it's true that the enemy does lead Jesus into the wilderness.

So it's true that the enemy does operate like that sometime, but more often than not, we end up in the wilderness because of what, the decisions that we make.

And so what I got to do, and I've learned to do, is I look back over my hard-headed self, over me doing what I wanted to do because I was big and bad and grown enough to do it, and I look back at that wilderness that I made when I got into a wilderness relationship.

Somebody been in a wilderness relationship.

It was dark and it was dusty and it was disappointing and it was disgusting and it was abusive.

But then God bring you out of it.

I want to talk to somebody that's unashamed and say God brought me out of a bad relationship.

God brought me out of a dangerous relationship.

God brought me out of a bad business deal.

God brought me out of a bad contract.

God brought me out of a bad connection.

I have to look back at where he brought me from before, because if he has done it before I got some new saints he's about to do it again.

We have to look back so we never go back.

I got to say that one more time.

I feel that in my spirit we have to look back so we never go back.

I got to say that one more time.

I feel that in my spirit you got to look back so you don't go back.

Fam, the Lord is saying I ain't brought you through all of this for you to go back.

I didn't bring you out of depression for you to return back to it.

I didn't bring you out of this substance abuse for you to go back to it.

Look at what I've done in your life already.

Don't go back.

Don't go back.

He's trying to take you to a place that you've never been before.

Moses was saying to Israel don't go back to Egypt, go forward until the promise.

We have to look back, look at where he brought us from so we never go back into our wilderness season.

But we have to look at where he brought us from so that you never forget the reason that it happened.

Moses, here in verse 2 through 5, says I need you to understand how you got into wilderness in the first place, but I also need you to understand what you was up to.

Yes, you got into the wilderness because of your disobedience, but you also ended up in the wilderness because I was up to something.

He says remember how the Lord, your God, led you through the wilderness for these 40 years.

I find this interesting because, even though they were in the wilderness because of their disobedience, god never left them in the wilderness.

Can I talk to somebody that's in the wilderness?

Because of their disobedience, god never left them in the wilderness.

Can I talk to somebody that's in the wilderness this morning because of the decision that you made?

I want you to know that your God has not left you, even when it's your fault that you're in the wilderness.

I can testify that I put myself in some wilderness stuff, but my God was still there.

There's a scripture in the New Testament that said in the Old Testament said there is no place that we can get out of the presence of our God.

It says if I lift up my eyes in hell, he's there.

If I, wherever I am, my God is present with me.

That's why the wilderness ain't kill you.

That's why the wild serpents didn't defeat you, because your God is with you in the wilderness.

He said remember how the Lord, your God, led you through the wilderness for these 40 years.

What was he doing?

Humbling you and testing you to prove your character.

Can I talk about the fact that sometimes we go through the wilderness so you can be humble as it relates to what God is about to do in your life.

Next, I want to talk to somebody in the room and say that God has heard your prayers and for what God is about to do in your life.

Next, I want to talk to somebody in the room and say that God has heard your prayers and for what God is about to do next.

Most people cannot handle it, meaning that that elevation is so big and the platform is so large and the opportunity is so amazing that the average person is not humble enough to give God all of the glory, honor and praise.

The average person wants to take credit for what they did, and so then, therefore, they take away from what God has did.

And so God is saying when I have a great assignment, when I have a great promise on a person's life, they will go through a wilderness so I could test their humbleness and prove their character.

Can I talk to some people in the room that I'm so excited about what God is doing in this season of our life at Chosen City Church and beyond?

But the only way that I can handle it and not get a big head y'all is because I've been in the wilderness.

That's why I testify and share from a transparent space.

Because I've been in the wilderness, I have made some wilderness decisions, I've had a wilderness mindset and because of the wilderness I could handle the overflow.

What do you mean, pastor Walt?

Y'all people come up to me pastors and leaders and say how is it that you're doing what you're doing at Chosen City Church in such a short period of time?

Is it your strategy.

I tell them we got strategy, we have budgets, we have sops, we have all these things that we're working on, but it ain't the strategy, it's the hand of of god.

And and I said, uh, they say what do you mean?

I said I, I, I, I got a, I, I, I got a beverly hills, billy's testimony.

Anybody ever watched a beverly hill?

But it's just a.

It's a story, a simple story, about a man named Jed who had some trouble trying to keep his family fed.

And one day he was shooting at some food and up through the ground came a bubbling crew.

You know, black gold, texas tea.

Well, the next thing, you know, oh, jed's a millionaire.

Anybody know the story.

Well, they look at me crazy when I say I got a, I got a, I got a Jed testimony.

It's because the best thing that Jed did was to take a shot and miss.

Oh, yeah, yeah, you do know, if he had a hit, hit that rabbit, he'd still be in the country, don't you?

I'm here to testify that the best thing that I did was take a shot and miss.

What do you mean?

I said the Lord had placed it on my heart to start this church, and we started one way and I thought it would be set one way, but God had another plan.

I didn't know that we'd have folk from every reformation and no reformation at all, because I'm so glad that what I had on my vision board, I took a shot and it missed and because of that I could take no credit for what the Lord is doing.

But it was my wilderness experience that helped me to get to the place of humbleness and I want to talk to you and say the Lord is saying I want to make sure that you're humble humble enough to handle the increase that's about to come to your house.

I need to test you to see how bad do you want it, to make sure that your character is mature enough for the place that I'm about to assign you.

Next, the worst thing that God can do is to open a door for you that your character is not built to be able to handle.

I can't promote you if you can't handle this.

I can't promote you if you're going to forget where you came from.

So he said you go through the wilderness so I can develop your character.

And I want to talk to somebody right now that's in the wilderness to let you know that God is developing your character.

He says I humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna of food previously unknown to you and your ancestors.

Can I stop right there for a minute and let you know that I believe by faith that the book, all books of the Bible, are more than just a history book.

There is application for us today.

I believe that when I read the sacred text that God is showing, as he moved in their life, that he is going to move in my life the same way, because I'm an heir to the promise, I believe that he wouldn't have gave it to us just to read about what he did over there if he was not doing the same thing or greater over here.

I don't know what you believe, but when I read these I get excited because I see myself in the posture of the children of Israel who have been in the wilderness for 40 years and they're trying to understand why God hadn't moved.

And Moses is saying you need to look at where you came from.

He said he didn't let you go hungry and he fed you with manna of food previously unknown to you and your ancestors.

Can I talk to somebody in the room and say I have faith enough to believe that God is about to bless some of you in a way that is unknown to you and unknown to your ancestors.

He's about to do it in a way that you have never seen it before.

And stop missing out on the move of God, because you have not seen it happen that way before.

That's why the children of Israel missed out on the Messiah, because they were looking for a conquering king instead of a lowly servant riding on the back of a donkey that would have to go through an old, rugged cross to get the world to be saved.

And there are too many times you miss it.

You think you got God figured out, so you figure, you know how God's supposed to bless you and you miss it.

And the Lord is saying I don't need you to miss it in this season.

I'm about to do it in a way that you have never seen it done before.

And he says I did this, your wilderness, I want to talk to your wilderness right now.

He says I did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone.

In other words, we don't live by natural substance alone.

We don't live by our paycheck alone.

We don't live by our 401k alone.

We don't live by the US economy alone.

We don't live by who's in the White House alone.

No, we don't live by that.

So what do we live by?

The text says, rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

That's why it's so important for you to know what the Lord is saying as it relates to your particular life and your particular assignment.

In this text, the Lord had already decreed and declared that you would live and not die.

In other words, he has said you're going to go through a wilderness for 40 years, but it's not going to consume you.

He said I let it consume your forefathers, but the children, y'all are the ones that are about to cross over.

And since God said it was not going to kill them, he also provided for them by declaring that their clothes would never run out, by declaring that they would never go hungry.

And I want to let you know that I got some great news that there is a word from the Lord as it relates to your wilderness season you shall live and not die, that your ladder shall be greater, that we can endure us for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

I got some good news for your wilderness season.

I once was young.

Now I am old, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

I got some good news for your wilderness season you can prosper right where you are.

Did you hear what I said?

That's from the prophet Jeremiah.

They were in a wilderness for 70 years and they were begging for God to take them out.

But the Lord said you got to stay there a little while longer.

But I guess I got some good news for you you can prosper until I bring you out.

There's somebody in the room that needs to understand.

Until God opens the door, until God makes a way, until God brings you out of the wilderness, your clothes ain't going to tear up.

Until God opens the door, until God makes a way, I need to talk to somebody in the room and tell you that you're drinking from a fountain.

It will never run dry and I don't have the courage to sanctify the house of God that, even in my wilderness, I can be what he's called me to be and I can do what he called me to do, based on the word that has come from his mouth.

For all these 40 years, your clothes didn't wear out and your feet didn't blister as well.

Think about it.

Just as a parent disciples a child, the Lord, your God, disciplines you for your own good, and I want to let somebody know that what you're going through is for your own good.

You don't like it.

It's like castor oil.

You don't, it don't taste good, but it's for your good, because the Lord is not allowing these things to happen to you, to harm you.

He has come.

There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus, but there's a whole lot of correction to get you on the path where he would have you to be.

So Moses says look where he brought you from so you never go back to your wilderness season.

Look where he brought you from so that you never forget the reason that it happened.

He look where he brought you from because here, this family, you're about to enter into new territory.

Somebody say you're about to enter into new territory.

Say it like you mean it.

If you read this Bible as if it's a history book for what God did for them folk, the way you just responded is A-OK.

It's like reading a book about the Bear Steamed Bears, the little engine that could.

I'm proud of the little engine Chugga-chugga.

I'm glad for the little train I see.

But if I see myself in the story as the little engine that could, if I see myself as the baristine bear that made it over, and if I see myself as the one that Prophet Moses is saying that I'm about to enter into a new territory, there ought to be some celebration for that.

There ought to be some worship for that.

There ought to be some praise for that.

Watch here in the text he says you're about to enter into a new territory.

Hear this.

So obey the commands of the Lord, your God, by walking in his ways and fearing him.

Because of the where you are going, you need to make sure that you are reverencing God in everything that you do.

I need to say this real, specific to a business owner you need to reverence God even as it relates to what you put on your menu at the restaurant, because God is ordering your steps.

You need to reverence God as it relates to the type of hair that you do.

If you are in that business.

You need to reverence God if you are a real estate agent, as it relates to the type of houses you are going to either buy or sell.

But in this season of life, what I'm saying if you are an investor, you need to reverence God as it relates to how your stock pulling.

What I'm saying is is that you are going into a new territory, but it's going to require you to allow God to order your steps in every business decision that you make.

You're about to enter a new territory and before you say I do, you need to make sure that God has ordained this person to be the right one in your life.

How do I know?

Because verse 7 says for the Lord, your God, is bringing you into a good land.

I want to talk to somebody right now and say the Lord is about to bring you into a good land, flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills.

It is the land of wheat and barley, of grapevines, fig trees and pomegranates, of olive oil and honey.

It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking.

I see the Lord saying that your season of lack is about to come to an end because you have been obedient to every precept of his word, he said.

It is a land where iron is as common as stone and copper is abundant in the hills.

He says when you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord, your God, for the good land that he has given you.

And now I guess I understand now why it's hard for some of you all to receive what I was saying, because you are just like the children of Israel.

You see, their forefathers had passed and it was the children, who are now adults, that are being allowed to cross over.

But God is prophesying through Moses about some stuff Y'all hear this carefully about some stuff that they had never seen before.

And so sometimes it's hard to get excited about something I ain't never seen before.

I can't get excited about being happy if I hadn't experienced happiness before.

You do know that some people who've never experienced happiness.

I can't get excited about a good relationship if I've never experienced that before, because you do know that there are people who've never had a healthy relationship.

I can't get excited about Mother's Day if I don't even understand the concept of having a good mother in my life.

I can't get excited about Father's Day because I don't even understand the concept of having a good mother in my life.

I can't get excited about Father's Day because I never met mine before.

There are some people that can't understand what is being prophesied, but I want to say to you if you could just try to see it in the spirit, even when you can't receive it in the natural and I'm trying to tell you that the Lord is about to take you into a new land and if you can't see it in the natural, you got to be able to see it in the spirit.

What does it look like to be able to see something in the spirit?

When I see it in the spirit, the reason I can't see it in the spirit sometimes is because I'm trying to use natural mechanisms to make it make sense.

How am I about to enter into a new land?

And I'm still struggling today.

They only pay me this much on my job, they only do this and they only do that.

But you got to stop looking at this thing in the natural.

The Bible declares that the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.

Our Bible declares that we are heirs to the promises of God.

The Bible declares that there is no good thing that he would withhold from us.

Jesus declared I have come so that they may have life and have it more abundantly.

Jesus declared that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

I need some people in the room.

You'll never be able to see it in the natural, but you ought to be able to see it in the spirit.

And I know right now, under the power of the Holy Ghost, the Lord is showing about a hundred of you the new land that you're about to enter.

I need about a hundred witnesses and I'll be number 101 that can see the new land that I'm about to enter.

I don't know about you, but I see a new land that my marriage is about to enter.

I see a new land that Chosen City is about to enter.

I see a new land that the people of God are about to enter, and I don't know about you.

Since I'm about to go into a new land, it's time for me to start packing, because it's time for me to get about to go into a new land.

It's time for me to start packing, because it's time for me to get ready to go.

And I need to talk to some people in the room that are ready to start packing, because in the book of Deuteronomy, one thing Moses once declared he said that you've been where you are long enough.

And I want to talk to some people in the room.

I've been crying about this thing long enough.

I've been stressed about this thing long enough.

I've had tears in my eyes long enough.

I've been broke long enough.

I need to talk to some packers in the room that we've been where we are long enough and I need some people that can feel it in the spirit.

I need some people that the Holy Ghost has quenched your spirit and you are getting this quickened right now.

You can't describe what you see, but you sure see something.

You see yourself getting better.

You see the situation turning around.

You see your child finally getting to the place where God would have them to be.

You can't even hardly contain it, you can't even get it on the vision board, but God is saying I'm about to show you some stuff because you're about to cross over.

I preach the way I preach y'all, because the Lord is showing me some stuff.

I'm excited about what I see, but if I'm so excited, the last thing Moses declares, though, is that you got to look where he brought you from, because we can never forget who brought us out, and that's what I want to say to the room as you look at where he brought you from, never forget the hand that brought you out.

Can I talk to you real quick?

There was a warning for all of us who are about to cross over.

Moses declared in verse 11, it's a time to be careful, because you are about to cross over now.

You got to be careful.

You got to be careful because what the enemy wants you to do is to forget how you got here.

The enemy wants you to do is forget who kept you.

The enemy wants you to do is forget how you survived the domestic violence.

The enemy wants you to forget how you got over the rape situation.

The enemy wants you to forget how you stopped using cocaine.

The enemy wants you to forget how you got over the substance abuse.

But I want you to declare with me the devil is a liar.

Why don't you say it like you mean it?

The devil is a liar.

I'll never forget what the Lord has done for me.

I need some people in the room now that'll never forget what the Lord has done for you.

They told me and my wife that we never have babies.

I got triplets in New Church.

They told me one time when I was sick in my body I had a pulmonary embolism.

They said that could have been my last day, but the hand of God was on my life and he rescued my life.

Do you remember that thing that the Lord did for you, that nobody else could do?

I ain't talking about that ordinary blessing.

I'm talking about that rescue blessing.

I'm talking about that life saving blessing.

I'm talking about the time you ain't supposed to be, here no more.

Look at where he brought me from, and that's my praise y'all, that's my testimony.

I'm reminded of ten lepers.

Y'all, y'all know the ten lepers.

They had lived in poverty because they had leprosy.

Leprosy was a skin condition, highly contagious, and if you had it, y'all, you couldn't live with your family.

You had to live in a leper colony.

That means you lost your wife, you lost your job, you lost your children, you lost everything.

What a wilderness to be in when you've lost everything.

And they were on the side of the road with nobody to help them.

Do y'all know what it feels like to be on the side of the road with nobody to help you?

Everybody passing you by, everybody looking at you, but nobody can understand you.

Everybody looking at you but nobody's stopping to help you.

What a wilderness to be in when everybody is passing you by.

Good, god, almighty, there are some people in the room.

You are in a wilderness where everybody is passing you by, but I got some good news for you.

Here comes Jesus.

He's coming down the road and they started to cry out to him.

I need about 100 people in the room to cry out to Jesus.

They cried out son of David, have mercy on me.

I need some people that's in a wilderness now to cry out to God.

Like you mean I need some musicians now that have come through a wilderness to play.

Like you mean I need some praise singing people now that understand a wilderness to sing.

Like you mean I need some prayer warriors in the room to pray.

Like you mean I need some shouters in the room to shout.

Like you mean it.

We're shouting for the Lord to not pass them by and there's some good news y'all.

Our God always responds to a shout that comes from a saint.

Well, he stopped y'all and he gave them instructions.

Part of the instructions was that you are healed, but you got to turn around and go forward and show the priests that you've been healed.

Show the priests that you've been healed, you've been saved, you've been set free and you've been delivered.

Now, the trick of it was when Jesus said it at first, they was not healed.

The healing didn't come until they were obedient and started to walk that thing out.

I need to talk to some people in the room and help you to understand.

Until you start to walk that thing out, you will not be healed, but when you start to put one foot in front, of the other good God, almighty, the healing that's coming your way.

I wish I had some walkers in the room that don't mind walking it out, because every step of faith I take, I'm on my way to a blessed place.

Every step I take I'm on my way out of the wilderness.

Every step I take, I'm on my way to a miracle sign and wonder.

I wish I had some walkers in here that don't mind walking it out.

You ought to get out of your room and walk this thing out.

Walk into your new next, walk into your blessing, walk into your victory, walk into your assignment.

Walk out of depression, walk out of anxiety.

There's a command on the floor.

Sometimes, y'all, I just gotta walk it out.

Sometimes, y'all, I just gotta be obedient to instructions that don't make sense.

It's crazy preacher up here telling me to walk it out.

I'm gonna sit here and not move.

You just missed your instruction.

You don't have a nerve to go home and ask God why it didn't get better.

And God's going to say did you walk it out?

Did you obey?

Did you do what I told you to do?

If you want to see a shift, you've got to shift your posture.

If you want to see a shift, you've got to shift your praise.

I need some people in the room that's unafraid to walk it out, praise.

Now, when they started to walk it out, all of a sudden somebody shouts suddenly Suddenly, y'all.

The lepers said y'all have to go away.

Suddenly, y'all.

They looked at their hands and their hands looked new.

They looked at their feet and their feet did too.

Good, god Almighty.

But this is what Moses warned about.

The issue is not the blessing, the issue is your praise.

Now watch carefully.

Nine of the ten were so excited about the new land that they were entering.

They were so excited to get back home to their children.

They were so excited to get home to their wife that they ran to the priest and forgot about Jesus.

That's what Moses was talking about.

He says I'm about to hit you with overflow, but you better not forget where you came from.

Jesus said of the ten, there was one that got halfway down the road and when he saw that he was healed, he stopped everything that he was doing and he ran back to the Father.

He ran back to the Lord and said Lord, because you healed me.

I got to praise you.

Jesus said where are the nine?

He said, master, I don't know about them, but all I could do I was going to go see my wife.

I was going back to my job.

But then, when I looked back and realized where my help came from all I could do, god, is turn around and give you some praise, and I wish I could get everybody in the room To look back over your life.

That was something you forgot to praise God for.

You forgot to praise God For that miracle of 2010.

You didn't praise him as much For that miracle of 2022.

You ought to go back and give.

God Some praise.

For not only what he's done.

I dare you to go back and give our God some praise for not only what he's done.

I dare you to go back and give our God some praise for what he's about to do.

I don't know about you, but I'm praising with expectation, I'm praising with victory.

I got a posture that is about to shift what my praise is in the room as I look back over my life and I see what he brought me over.

He brought me out of a hood I didn't get shot in a cliff.

He brought me out of darkness.

He brought me through college.

He brought me through military before.

He brought me through danger, seed and unseed.

He brought me through church.

He brought me through this Brought my family through miscarriage, brought my mother through sin.

Brought my brothers through pain.

I need everybody in the room that got a testimony to take about 15 seconds and start to testify to somebody that's right next to you, because the word of God is clear the enemy is defeated by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Is there any word in your testimony?

I bet you won't testify.

I bet you won't testify.

I bet you won't start saying out loud how God spared you in that accident.

I bet you won't say out loud how you hit it and it didn't kill you.

I bet you won't say out loud your real testimony Not the cute when you tell the church folk, but your real testimony I bet you won't tell it.

I bet you won't tell it Now, after you tell somebody what the Lord has done for you.

We gotta take about 60 seconds and give god some crazy praise.

I dare you to do it.

No, but we serve a perfect God and we getting better every day together.

You've been doing life long enough alone by yourself, talking to somebody in the room.

As we wait on one or two more people to give God a yes, we're going to worship through giving and then we're going to do the benediction.
