  1. Hey there! Is today your first time here? Or

  2. maybe your first time in a while? If so, maybe

  3. you're wondering exactly who we are and what

  4. this church is all about. Well, we'd like you

  5. to know that we're a group of ordinary people

  6. who are on an amazing journey together following

  7. Christ. Our guide is the Bible because it's the

  8. divinely inspired Word of God and it will never

  9. take us in the wrong direction. Along the way,

  10. we hope you'll see that we are welcoming and

  11. spiritually passionate. and that getting to know

  12. you is a big deal to us. We know that the road

  13. is rough sometimes, but we'll work really hard

  14. to bring you practical and relevant messages

  15. to equip and encourage you through life's ups

  16. and downs. We want you to know that we care about

  17. this community, and we believe that it's our

  18. job to make it a better place. So no matter who

  19. you are or where you've been, we're glad you're

  20. here with us today, and we hope that you'll join

  21. us on our journey, following Christ and living

  22. out His plan for us. So welcome to church. We're

  23. currently taking a break in the book of Acts.

  24. Obviously, last week was Christmas. This week

  25. and next week, we're going to actually take the

  26. next couple weeks to talk a little bit about

  27. Bible prophecy. We're going to detour from the

  28. book of Acts and just do a little refresher,

  29. a little reminder what the Bible says, talks

  30. about the future, and the future matters because

  31. it's how we live in the present. Knowing the

  32. future, that's why we have the future. That's

  33. why all the way from the Old Testament, And even

  34. in the New Testament, it points to future events.

  35. Bible prophecy. I'm not going to do it because

  36. I got little bookmarks in my Bible. But if you

  37. mark your Bible and take about a third of it

  38. and hold it up, that's how much of the Bible

  39. is prophetic. About a third of your Bible is

  40. prophetic. Some people say if you take your Bible

  41. and put your finger in Acts chapter 2, And then

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  42. go to Revelation chapter 19. Hold that little

    Revelation 19 chapter mention

  43. thin portion up. That's the church. And everything

  44. else you see, especially before Acts, that's

  45. Israel. How important Israel is in the prophetic

  46. scheme and what God's doing with Israel. The

  47. sons of Issachar, it says, and I am going to

  48. pray. Hopefully I remember to pray. Not that

  49. I haven't prayed. But the sons of Issachar. In

  50. 1 Chronicles, it talks about this group of men,

  51. small group of men, that were there when David

  52. took the throne. And it says that these men,

  53. these sons of Issachar, they knew the signs of

  54. the times. And it said for this very reason that

  55. Israel would know what to do. Why should we know

  56. the days we're living in? I think it's very important.

  57. Jesus pointed to these days. And why? Because

  58. we need to know what to do, how to live in these

  59. days, how to act, how to behave. What should

  60. we be doing? How should we live as a church and

  61. as a people of God? So we'll pray really quick

  62. here. Lord, we're thankful for your word. We're

  63. thankful, God, that we have it. We have instruction.

  64. We know the future. We know what's coming. We

  65. have a lot of the detail of it. And so I pray

  66. for this morning, Lord, that distractions, confusion,

  67. God, that this would be clear, Lord, and that

  68. it would cause us and motivate our hearts, Lord,

  69. to action, to know what we should do in these

  70. last days that we're living, Lord, in your name.

  71. Amen. When you talk about the last days, if you

  72. would, and you don't have to turn to every scripture.

  73. If you want to, if you want to keep your fingers

  74. moving, you can. I'm going to reference a bunch

  75. of scriptures. I'll read them. to keep us moving,

  76. because I want to get us finally to Matthew chapter

    Matthew 24 chapter mention

  77. 24. We're going to be in Daniel. We're actually

  78. going to be in Matthew 24 just for a second.

  79. But if you would, turn to Acts chapter 2 with

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  80. me for a second. I want to clarify what the last

  81. days are, that we should know that the last days

  82. began at a certain point in history. The day

  83. of Pentecost. As people are there celebrating

  84. Pentecost, they hear what's taking place. The

  85. church speaking in other tongues, in another

  86. tongue. And Peter in verse 17 defends what's

  87. happening and explains to them what's taking

  88. place. In these latter days. And this marks the

  89. beginning of the last days. It's a prophecy of

  90. Joel. Just so you have this in your mind. Hopefully

  91. this isn't confusing. I might jump back into

  92. the book of Acts if this gets too confusing for

  93. next week. But I want to take a couple weeks

  94. and to explain some things. A reminder to some

  95. of us. It says this in verse 16. Peter explains,

  96. this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel.

  97. And then he says this, it shall come to pass

  98. in the last days. That's important. In the last

  99. days, says God, I will pour out my spirit on

  100. all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall

  101. prophesy. Your young men shall see visions. Your

  102. old men shall dream dreams. And on my servants

  103. and on my maidservants, I'll pour out my spirit

  104. in those days and they shall prophesy. So that's

  105. what's taking place in the last days. And then

  106. he continues in verse 19. This is important in

  107. terms of the gifts of the Spirit. Because that's

  108. a controversy in the church. He says this. And

  109. then he jumped fast forwards from these days,

  110. the days of Pentecost, where the church is birthed

  111. there. And then he begins to speak of the tribulation.

  112. So this is going to happen right up until the

  113. tribulation. He says, and I will show wonders

  114. in heaven above and signs in earth beneath. Blood,

  115. fire, vapor of smoke, the sun shall be turned

  116. into darkness, the moon into blood, before the

  117. coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

  118. That's the second coming, Revelation chapter

    Revelation 19 chapter mention

  119. 19. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls

  120. upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. So

  121. when you look at the book of Revelation, chapter

    Revelation 1 chapter mention

  122. 1, those are the things, you know, Jesus gives

  123. John an outline. He says, write down the things

  124. that you see, the things that are, and the things

  125. that are gonna be, that will come to pass, right?

  126. And the things that he saw was chapter one of

  127. Revelation, this vision and view of heaven and

  128. Jesus Christ. Chapters two and three are the

  129. things that are. That's the church age. That's

  130. the seven letters to the churches. And the things

  131. that shall be, and then, Chapters 4 and 5, it

  132. says that John was caught up in the heaven. And

  133. the church isn't mentioned anymore from chapters

  134. 6 to chapter 19. Why? John's in heaven with the

  135. church, and he has this vision of the throne

  136. room where the saints are. And he sees the lamb

  137. slain from before the foundations of the world.

  138. So chapters 2 and 3, it's the church age. The

  139. last church age is Laodicea, this church that's

  140. lukewarm. Like they come to church, they don't

  141. care. Church gets raptured. Chapter 4, John is

  142. caught up into heaven. And then chapters 6 through

  143. 19, the church is not mentioned. That's the tribulation

  144. period. It's the tribulation and the great tribulation.

  145. That seven -year period, it's... Daniel's 70th

  146. week. It's the time of Jacob's trouble. We're

  147. going to actually look at the book of Daniel

  148. today, explain some of that. And then, you know,

  149. chapters 20, the millennial reign, judgment comes,

  150. Revelation 20, new heaven and new earth, 21.

  151. And so the book of Revelation, very important.

  152. And why do we need to know this? Why do we know

  153. the end days? Because it says in the last days,

  154. in the end, the final days, those last days that

  155. I believe we're living in, and because something

  156. very special happened, Israel becomes a nation

  157. again, and that's God's super sign. That's the

  158. super sign to the world, that God's still on

  159. the throne. He's not done with this nation. It's

  160. something that... that many, many scholars thought

  161. it can't happen. And they replaced, you hear

  162. of it, replacement theology, that the church

  163. has replaced Israel because what they didn't

  164. believe and couldn't believe is that Israel would

  165. become a nation again. So for a long time, part

  166. of the church, some of the church, respected

  167. men in the church and teachers, some of the forefathers

  168. thought, There's no way Israel can become a nation

  169. again, but it's the super sign of the last days

  170. of the end times. And we have that on us. Matthew

    Matthew 24 chapter mention

  171. chapter 24 says this as a warning. Jesus inserts

  172. this as a warning as he tells the disciples.

  173. He answers a question, what will be the sign

  174. of your coming and the end of the age? What's

  175. it going to be? And Jesus, he doesn't say, don't

  176. worry about it. You don't need to know that.

  177. It's unimportant. You just got to learn how to

  178. behave well and have faith. And he says, no,

  179. you need to know this. And then he begins to

  180. tell them what these signs will be of his coming,

  181. the end of the age, the age of man, the destruction

  182. specifically of the temple. But he says this

  183. in verse 45 of Matthew 24. Who then is a faithful

  184. and wise servant whom his master made ruler over

  185. his household to give them food in due season?

  186. And blessed is that servant whom his master,

  187. when he comes back, will find doing so. What?

  188. Taking care of his master's good. Assuredly,

  189. I say to you that he will make him ruler over

  190. all his goods. But if that evil servant says

  191. in his heart, My master's delaying his coming

  192. and begins to beat his fellow servants and eat

  193. and drink with the drunkards. The master of that

  194. servant will come on a day when he's not looking

  195. for him. And at an hour when he's not aware of,

  196. and he will cut him in two and appoint his portion

  197. with the hypocrites. And there shall be weeping

  198. and gnashing of teeth. Kind of important to be

  199. watchful. Why? Because our hearts slip away from

  200. God. We drift. Peter says this. You can write

  201. this down. You don't have to turn there. 2 Peter

    2 Peter 3 chapter mention

  202. chapter 3. He says, Beloved, I now write to you

  203. this second epistle, in both of which I stir

  204. up your minds by way of a reminder. that you

  205. might be mindful of the words which were spoken

  206. by the holy prophets and of the commandment of

  207. us and the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing

  208. this first, that scoffers will come in the last

  209. days, walking according to their own lusts. And

  210. this is what they're going to say, because it's

  211. being said for 2 ,000 years. And this will be

  212. an earmark of something going on that infiltrates

  213. the church and infiltrates people. They're going

  214. to say, where is the promise of his coming? They

  215. heard of it. They knew it. They were taught it.

  216. But they couldn't hold on. Where is the promise

  217. of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep,

  218. all things continue as they were from the beginning

  219. of creation. And for this, they're willingly

  220. forget that by the word of God, the heavens were

  221. of old and the earth standing out of the water

  222. and in the water by which the world then existed,

  223. perished, being flooded with water. And he talks

  224. about a global flood, which was God's judgment

  225. on the world. Because of what? Because their

  226. hearts grew cold. And we're going to look at

  227. those days. That's one of the signs of the end

  228. that Jesus gives. In Matthew 24, Luke 21, or

  229. Luke 19, I think. The days of Noah and the days

  230. of Lot. A time when God judged globally the earth.

  231. What did it look like? Why did he come and judge

  232. the earth? Well, Jesus said, you need to know

  233. the days of Noah. And we're going to look at

  234. that next week. But you need to know the days

  235. of Noah so you know the time of the end, the

  236. last days, the last of the last days, the end,

  237. as Jesus says he's going to return. And the days

  238. of Lot, why did Sodom and Gomorrah get judged?

  239. You need to know those times and know those days.

  240. It's important, right? So the Bible says this.

  241. Ignorance, we use that word, we throw the word

  242. around, they're ignorant, they're ignorant, they're

  243. ignorant. And it can be used in place of other

  244. words. But ignorance just means a lack of information.

  245. You guys understand that, right? Ignorance means

  246. to not know, to not have the full knowledge.

  247. People are ignorant. It's not... The worst thing

  248. in the world to not know you don't know what

  249. you don't know, right? Until you get that information.

  250. In the Bible, the New Testament is clear specifically

  251. about four things that the church is most ignorant

  252. of, that it is most controversial in the church.

  253. The Bible, the New Testament is clear on four

  254. things I'm going to talk about, two things we're

  255. going to discuss here today and next week. The

  256. first thing is Paul says, I don't want you to

  257. be ignorant. This is 2 Corinthians chapter 12

    2 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  258. concerning spiritual gifts. And one of the most

  259. controversial things in the church today and

  260. for years is spiritual gifts. And the Corinthian

  261. church was misusing gifts, spiritual gifts in

  262. church service and at different times. So Paul

  263. comes and corrects them. He doesn't say they're

  264. not important. What he says is, I don't want

  265. you to be ignorant of spiritual gifts. And then

  266. Paul gives this dissertation, chapters 12, 13,

  267. 14 of 1 Corinthians, Romans chapter 12. He expounds

    Romans 12 chapter mention

  268. on gifts of the Spirit, Ephesians chapter 4.

    Ephesians 4 chapter mention

  269. Paul talks about gifts of the Spirit, why they're

  270. important. But we're called not to be ignorant.

  271. You need the information. You need the information.

  272. The second thing is, and I'll turn there and

  273. read it to you. You don't have to. It's Romans

  274. 10, which rolls into another area that the church

  275. is ignorant and controversial in. But Romans

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  276. chapter 10 says this in verse 1. Brethren, my

  277. heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is

  278. that they might be saved. They rejected their

  279. Messiah. For I bear them witness that they have

  280. a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

  281. They're zealous. And it says this, for they being

  282. ignorant of God's righteousness and seeking to

  283. establish their own righteousness have not submitted

  284. to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the

  285. end of the law. for righteousness to everyone

  286. who believes. And if you follow that pattern,

  287. you see that it talks about the righteousness

  288. that is by faith, by believing, by confessing,

  289. believing in your heart, confessing with your

  290. mouth. It's different than the law that Moses

  291. gave. You obey these commands or else. And Paul

  292. says that they were ignorant. They're ignorant

  293. concerning what God was going to do. This new

  294. testament, this new covenant that we have in

  295. the New Testament that's in the blood of Jesus

  296. Christ. It's different, right? The third thing

  297. is Romans chapter 11, verse 25. And these two

    Romans 11:25

  298. things are so important. The spiritual gifts,

  299. the law versus grace. In number three, Romans

    Romans 11 chapter mention

  300. chapter 11, it says, verse 25, For I do not desire,

  301. brethren, that you should be ignorant of this

  302. mystery, lest you should be wise in your own

  303. opinion, that blindness in part has happened

  304. to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles

  305. has come in. Fullness of the Gentiles comes in.

  306. Jesus will say that Jerusalem, Will be trodden

  307. underfoot of the Gentiles. That they're going

  308. to be scattered. But once the regathering takes

  309. place. Once Israel becomes a nation again. That's

  310. the super sign. Of the last days. Then the church

  311. age. This age of grace is coming to a close.

  312. When Israel becomes a nation again. It's crazy.

  313. They were out of their land. For almost 2 ,000

  314. years. So Israel, there's ignorance there. Doesn't

  315. mean you're dumb or I'm dumb. It means you don't

  316. know. And the last thing is 1 Thessalonians chapter

    1 Thessalonians 4 chapter mention

  317. 4. And these are the greatest controversies in

  318. the church. Some of the greatest controversies

  319. in the church. It specifically says, don't be

  320. ignorant of this. Don't be unknowing. Paul says

  321. this in chapter 4, and this is concerning the

  322. rapture of the church. This is an event that

  323. takes place, I believe. And before the tribulation,

  324. God takes, because the Bible says that Paul teaches

  325. that we're not appointed to wrath. We're not

  326. appointed to God's wrath. And the tribulation

  327. is God's judgment. That's one part of it. The

  328. second part is God is going to deal with the

  329. nation and their unbelief. So he says, I don't

  330. want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning

  331. those who have fallen asleep. They've died. Lest

  332. you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if

  333. we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even

  334. so God will bring with him those who sleep in

  335. Jesus. For this we say to you, that by the word

  336. of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain

  337. until the coming of the Lord will by no means

  338. precede those who are asleep. For the Lord himself

  339. will descend from heaven with a shout, with the

  340. voice of an archangel. and with the trumpet of

  341. God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

  342. And then we who are alive and remain shall be

  343. caught up. That word is harpazo in the Latin

  344. Vulgate. That's where you get the word rapture.

  345. And he says, and that's a violent snatching away.

  346. We who are alive and remain shall be caught up

  347. together with them in the clouds to meet the

  348. Lord in the air. Thus shall we always be with

  349. the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with

  350. these words. 1 Corinthians 15 says it's going

  351. to take place in the twinkling of an eye. But

  352. Revelation 19 says that every eye shall see him.

  353. It's two different events. Two different events.

  354. The same way Israel was looking for this conquering

  355. king in the Old Testament. They're waiting for

  356. Messiah, this conquering king. They didn't know

  357. they were going to get a suffering servant first.

  358. They were unaware of that. They were blind to

  359. that fact. And so they missed it. And we're going

  360. to look at that in a minute. The same way there

  361. was two comings in a way, for Israel, it's the

  362. same way for the church. There's a rapture of

  363. the church that precedes the tribulation period.

  364. And then we, if you read Revelation 19, we come

  365. back to earth. With Jesus Christ. Okay? That's

  366. the second coming where every eye is going to

  367. see him. Every knee is going to bow. Right? It's

  368. the final part of the battle of Armageddon. Okay?

  369. Everyone looks confused. Hopefully I'm not confusing

  370. everyone. Too bad. This is a refresher. Listen,

  371. this, you know. We need to not be ignorant of

  372. these things. So we're going to talk a little

  373. bit about Israel. If you turn with me to Daniel

    Daniel 9 chapter mention

  374. chapter 9, important, the book of Daniel, very

  375. important in terms of Bible prophecy, the future.

  376. Israel. Daniel chapter 9. And if you remember,

    Daniel 9 chapter mention

  377. we don't have to start, begin there, but Daniel

  378. starts out by saying that he understood by reading

  379. the book of Jeremiah that the 70 year captivity

  380. of Babylon is over. It's coming to an end. And

  381. he began to pray, confess the sins of the nation,

  382. his own sins. As he's praying, Gabriel shows

  383. up to give him a message, to give him. Not only

  384. what's taking place in the days they're living

  385. in, but future events. Gabriel shows up and says

  386. this. In verse 24 of Daniel chapter 9, it says

    Daniel 9 chapter mention

  387. 70 weeks, 70 heptads, 70 sevens. They're weeks

  388. of years. Not to confuse you. Hopefully that's

  389. not confusing. The 70 weeks are 77s. They're

  390. weeks of years. They're determined for your people

  391. and for your holy city. That's Israel. It's very

  392. Jewish. To do what? To finish the transgression,

  393. to make an end of sin, and to make a reconciliation

  394. for iniquity. That's what happened when Jesus

  395. came. Then he says this. To bring in, this hasn't

  396. happened yet. This happens at the end of the

  397. tribulation. To bring in everlasting righteousness,

  398. actually the end of the millennial reign, to

  399. bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up

  400. the vision and the prophecy, like you don't need

  401. the Bible anymore. And to anoint the most holy,

  402. that's where Jesus Messiah is going to sit on

  403. the throne of his father David. To anoint the

  404. most holy. It's important to know that, that

  405. you are aware of that, to know what's going to

  406. happen in the future. And then he says this,

  407. know therefore and understand. I'll just read

  408. 25 through 27, then we'll go back and go over

  409. it a little bit. He says, know therefore and

  410. understand. Don't be ignorant. Know therefore

  411. and understand that from the going forth, Of

  412. the command to restore and build Jerusalem. Unto

  413. the Messiah the Prince. There shall be seven

  414. weeks and 62 weeks. Of years. And the street

  415. shall be built again. Even the wall. Even in

  416. troublous times. And after 62 weeks Messiah shall

  417. be cut off. Not for himself. Cut off for us.

  418. That's his death. And the people. of the prince

  419. who is to come, that's important, shall destroy

  420. the city and the sanctuary and the end of it

  421. shall be with a flood to the end of the war of

  422. desolations are determined. Then he shall confirm

  423. a covenant with the many for one week. That's

  424. the final week. That's the 70th week of Daniel.

  425. There's one week left. We're living in a pause

  426. right now. Then he, ooh, that's the prince that

  427. shall come from this people. That people are

  428. the people that destroy the temple, and it's

  429. Rome. And we'll look at that in just a minute.

  430. A covenant with the many for one week, and the

  431. many, that's Israel. But in the middle of the

  432. week, he shall bring an end to the sacrifice

  433. and offering. And on the wing of abomination

  434. shall be one who makes desolate, even until the

  435. consummation, which is determined, is poured

  436. out on the desolate. So that can be confusing,

  437. right? You look at that like, what the heck is

  438. happening there? Are you for real? How do you

  439. sort that out? It's not terrible to sort out.

  440. It's not terrible. It says this, know therefore

  441. and understand. And then he marks a time. He

  442. says from the command to restore and build Jerusalem

  443. unto the Messiah, the Prince, there'll be 69

  444. weeks, 483 years. There are weeks of years, 483

  445. years. And there's a beginning and an end. There's

  446. something that marks the beginning of this time.

  447. He says, the street shall be built again and

  448. the wall. Well, when did the street and the wall

  449. in Israel begin to be rebuilt? Artaxerxes, the

  450. Persian king, comes on the throne in 465 BC.

  451. And if you read Nehemiah, that's where the command,

  452. he gives the command to Nehemiah, and that marks

  453. this time. In Nehemiah chapter 2, in the 20th

    Nehemiah 2 chapter mention

  454. year of his reign, that's 445. That's March 14th,

  455. 445 BC. It marks this time. It's not hard to

  456. understand this if you just know a couple things.

  457. But that's the beginning of this period. That

  458. starts the clock of this 483 years. Nehemiah

  459. does. Because what does Nehemiah do? He gets

  460. the command from Artaxerxes to go back to Israel,

  461. go to Jerusalem, and rebuild the walls. That

  462. was his job. That was his position. You remember?

  463. And if you read Nehemiah, he goes to all the

  464. gates, and different people were appointed. But

  465. he got the command from Artaxerxes. March 14th,

  466. 445 BC. So until Messiah the Prince, there'll

  467. be 69 weeks. The Babylonian calendar is not what

  468. we have. It's not 365. It was 360 days. Multiply

  469. that by 483 years. I'm already losing you guys,

  470. but don't let me lose you. This is important.

  471. Nehemiah marks it off. 483 years, 69 weeks of

  472. years, 483. You do the multiplication, it's 173

  473. ,880 days to the Messiah, the Prince. And Jesus

  474. rides into Jerusalem on a donkey, April 6th,

  475. 32 AD. That very day, that Gabriel told Daniel

  476. he would come. That very day, he comes lowly,

  477. riding on a donkey, right? Humble. He rides into

  478. Jerusalem that very day that Daniel predicted,

  479. right? It says this, if you turn to Luke 19 with

  480. me for a second. says this, as Jesus rides into

  481. Jerusalem, they're saying, Hosanna, blessed is

  482. he who comes in the name of the Lord, right?

  483. And he rides in, verse 41 says this, now as he

  484. drew near, he saw the city and he wept over it.

  485. And he says this, if you had known, even you,

  486. especially in this your day, what day was it?

  487. It was the day that Daniel predicted that Gabriel

  488. gave Daniel that. One of the most amazing prophecies

  489. in the Bible. It's important. You can research

  490. this. You can probably look it up online. I'm

  491. sure you can get it. The days, the year, Artaxerxes.

  492. He came on the throne. 20 years later, he gives

  493. Nehemiah this command. 173 ,880 days later, Jesus

  494. rides in the exact day. If you had known, even

  495. you, especially in your day, the things that

  496. make for your peace, but now they're hidden from

  497. your eyes. For the days will come upon you when

  498. your enemies will build an embankment around

  499. you, surround you and close you in on every side

  500. and level you and your children within you to

  501. the ground. And they will not leave in you one

  502. stone upon another because you did not know the

  503. time of your visitation. They didn't know. They

  504. lost sight of the fact that Messiah was coming.

  505. A prophecy that was given to Daniel. They lost

  506. sight of it. And what did they do? You lose heart.

  507. You lose direction. You lose purpose. What am

  508. I living for? What are we here for? How do I

  509. move forward? How do we live this life? What

  510. is my goal? What's my aim? Right? They lost direction.

  511. They lost purpose. And they lost sight. of Messiah.

  512. And so, briefly, listen, I feel like I am losing

  513. you guys. And after 62 weeks, Messiah will be

  514. cut off, not for himself, that's Messiah, Jesus

  515. dies. And it says, the people of the prince who

  516. is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

  517. That's what Jesus says. In Matthew 24, when the

  518. disciples said, you know, they leave the temple

  519. area and they look back at the temple and they

  520. show Jesus the buildings of the temple, how amazing

  521. this is. And Jesus says, listen, there won't

  522. be one stone left upon another here. And they're

  523. blown away by that. Like, the temple's going

  524. to get destroyed? That's crazy. And we know Titus

  525. Vespasian, 70 AD, he does that. Destroys the

  526. temple, throws down every stone. It says, the

  527. people of the prince who is to come shall destroy

  528. the sanctuary. That's Titus, 70 AD. It gets destroyed.

  529. The end of it shall be in a flood to the end

  530. of the war of desolations. It's important to

  531. know who that is because it was Rome. It was

  532. a Roman general, Titus, destroyed that. It's

  533. important to know that for the fact that verse

  534. 27 says, then he, who? He's the prince that's

  535. going to come. Where's he going to come from?

  536. It's Antichrist. Verse 27 is speaking of Antichrist.

  537. He's coming. From who? From a people? From Rome,

  538. right? We don't have time to look at it. But

  539. Daniel chapter 2, Daniel chapter 7, Nebuchadnezzar's

Daniel 2 chapter mention Daniel 7 chapter mention

  540. dream, this head of gold, arms and chest of silver,

  541. the waist and thighs of brass, legs of iron.

  542. That was Nebuchadnezzar, Medo -Persia. Greece,

  543. Alexander the Great, and then Rome and all the

  544. Caesars. And then he describes the last final

  545. kingdom of the last days where Jesus comes as

  546. this rock cut without hands and he comes down

  547. and he smashes the image in its feet of this

  548. new kingdom that has 10 toes and it's iron mixed

  549. with clay. It's the revived Roman Empire. that

  550. is revived in the last days, led by Antichrist.

  551. It says that he shall confirm a covenant with

  552. the many for a week. You read Revelation chapter

    Revelation 6 chapter mention

  553. 6, the first rider on the white horse brings

  554. the covenant. That kicks off the tribulation

  555. period. That starts the clock for seven years.

  556. The seven -year period, led by Antichrist, it

  557. says he comes with a bow. That's the covenant.

  558. Right? He'll confirm a covenant with the many

  559. for one week. That's the final week, Daniel's

  560. 70th week, the days of Jacob's trouble. I lost

  561. you guys, didn't I? It's important because Israel

  562. becomes a nation again. So anyways, it says this,

  563. but in the middle of the week, he shall bring

  564. an end to sacrifice and an offering. And on the

  565. wings of abomination shall be one who makes desolate.

  566. Daniel chapter 12 talks about the abomination

    Daniel 12 chapter mention

  567. of desolation that takes place right in the middle

  568. of the tribulation period. Antiochus Epiphanes,

  569. the Seleucid king, was a dress rehearsal. That

  570. happens in between the 400 -year span between

  571. the Old Testament and the New Testament. This

  572. Seleucid king comes after Alexander the Great.

  573. This guy from Greece, he has four generals. One

  574. of those generals becomes a ruler from Seleucia.

  575. The Seleucian king, he goes in, kills 100 ,000

  576. Jews, desecrates the temple. He brings this idol

  577. into the temple of Zeus, kills a pig on the altar,

  578. and it makes Judas Maccabeus. You know, this

  579. Maccabean revolt that happens that 400 year period

  580. between the Old Testament and New Testament.

  581. That's why they celebrate Hanukkah. The Jews

  582. have a holiday that they created because of this.

  583. Judas Maccabeus comes and, you know, wipes or

  584. pushes them out, wins this battle. But it was

  585. a picture of what was going to take place. It

  586. was the desecration of the temple. It's coming

  587. again. In the tribulation period, halfway through,

  588. if you read Revelation 12, 11, 12, and 13. Okay?

  589. It's way too much information, probably. For

  590. you guys, I was not intending. Why did I think

  591. this was going to come out so simply? I thought,

  592. this is just going to be information that they'll

  593. have. It's future. Antiochus Epiphanes, that

  594. was a dress rehearsal for what was going to take

  595. place during the tribulation. That was not because

  596. Jesus speaks of it as a future event when he

  597. warns them in Matthew 24 that the temple is going

  598. to be desecrated. And it's not. It's not. Some

  599. people confuse what Titus did in 70 AD. They

  600. think that all this happened in 70 AD. Everything

  601. Jesus predicted has already taken place. Well,

  602. listen. The revelation from John hadn't even

  603. been written yet. Not for another 25 years after

  604. the temple was destroyed. So this stuff is all

  605. future. Titus, he burned the temple, took the

  606. gold, never desecrated it. It wasn't the abomination

  607. of desolation. If you want to know more about

  608. that, Daniel chapter 12, it gives you numbers

    Daniel 12 chapter mention

  609. and dates. You can follow that along. It actually

  610. gives you... 30 days more than the midway point

  611. of the tribulation. And then 75 days more. Interesting.

  612. If you know what that means, someone can tell

  613. me. I don't know. Why? It goes over that three

  614. and a half year period. Where there's tribulation

  615. and then great tribulation. Right? And if you

  616. look up Daniel chapter 7, it talks about the

    Daniel 7 chapter mention

  617. beast. They correlate with the image of Daniel.

  618. The first beast is a lion, and then a bear, and

  619. then a leopard. They correlate with exactly the

  620. same kingdoms, Babylon, Medo -Persia, and Greece.

  621. And then this final king, he describes as this

  622. dragon that comes back to life. And he has heads

  623. and horns. And it's the revived Roman Empire.

  624. So that's Daniel chapter 7. Read it. It maybe

    Daniel 7 chapter mention

  625. will make a little more sense to you. It maybe

  626. will make no sense to you. That could happen

  627. too. So listen, it's 11 -12. Next week is going

  628. to be much simpler. Next week we're just going

  629. to go through Matthew, what Jesus said. I'm not

  630. going to go through all these prophecies. I'm

  631. going to go through Matthew 24 and remind you

  632. of some things. You won't have to remember any

  633. numbers or dates or things like that. that are

  634. confusing. Next week will be fun. More fun, hopefully.

  635. So, Lord, we're thankful, God. We want to know

  636. these things. We want to walk in these things,

  637. Lord, and understand them, Lord. We don't want

  638. to be ignorant of the things that are coming,

  639. Lord, knowing that your word tells us in the

  640. last days there's going to be a falling away,

  641. a departure from the faith. The people will be

  642. lovers of themselves. You've called us to be

  643. watching and waiting, Lord, praying always that

  644. we might escape these things, Lord. Luke's gospel

  645. tells us to be careful that we're not overtaken,

  646. that we lose sight and lose track.
