  1. Welcome To The River. City Church podcast and a

  2. message by our lead. Pastor Jason Powers our prayer

  3. is that this message would Inspire and encourage you, build

  4. your faith. And point you to the

  5. life-changing love of Jesus, may you enjoy the goodness of God as

  6. you follow him today. Hi, everybody.

  7. That was good. She trained you.

  8. All right, she shamed y'all into responding, that's good.

  9. We're not above that. Hey listen, I'm glad you're here

  10. today. You get to sermons today.

  11. One short. I'm not your like I know how

  12. your sermons go. We'll be here forever, we're

  13. going to talk when you start a new series called Great

  14. Expectations, but before we do that, I want to talk about as

  15. very what's going on at Asbury, College in Kentucky.

  16. Some of you have heard of it, some of you haven't and I've

  17. kind of address both. If you haven't heard as Berry

  18. College in Kentucky is undergoing something of some

  19. people, call it a Revival. So, on Wednesdays, they have

  20. chaplain, it is a United Methodist College.

  21. Which some of you in here? I've woo.

  22. And some of you here like mmmm, right?

  23. And whatever you do with that, you got to do with it, right?

  24. And so what happened is, they have chapels on Wednesday and so

  25. last Wednesday, they had chapel and a guy got up and he started

  26. talking about what he said was this is such a great message.

  27. He says, listen if you want to be an expresser of God's love,

  28. right? Like any of you want to just

  29. love go out and love which is what you're supposed to do,

  30. right? Like that's the thing they'll

  31. know you are my disciples by love.

  32. He says if you're going To do that.

  33. You have to be filled up with love if you want to be able to

  34. give love out. So he said my prayer for us,

  35. he's talking to this college chapter, I said my prayer for us

  36. is that you would just sit in the love of God and that you

  37. would just experienced God's love for yourself.

  38. That was on Wednesday and right after that, he left the stage,

  39. they started worshipping as they usually do, and they just

  40. haven't stopped. Right?

  41. And so the idea is what do we do about Revival?

  42. What does Violence. I mean you call it Revival.

  43. You can call it Awakening there have been periods throughout

  44. time a couple things just that I see on this.

  45. I'm just going to touch on these real quick and then we'll get to

  46. kind of message, right? Number one, cynicism is cheap

  47. easy and contributes. Nothing to culture.

  48. It's just simple. I just know.

  49. Like, I I I I have it. Like, I battle with that myself,

  50. right? Skepticism may be okay.

  51. If you step back and just go, hey, like, I want to look at and

  52. I just want to see. But cynicism says that, That

  53. thing never does happen, and when it does, it's a joke.

  54. Haha, is simple. Here's what I see, when I look

  55. at the Awakening in, at Asbury. Number one, the leader seems to

  56. be a first century Jewish Carpenter named Jesus because

  57. there doesn't seem to be any leader, person, group student

  58. standing up and leading. This this seems to be organic,

  59. it seems to have just risen up. And to be continuing, they're

  60. worshiping, they have new bands come in all of this.

  61. So it doesn't seem to be about any one person hears, the most

  62. striking thing for me, when I look at, when I look at the

  63. videos and I see all of this is, it seems to be just college kids

  64. worshiping which a couple things, right.

  65. The first thing is that means that this expression, it least

  66. is exceedingly biblical because what it looks like and this is

  67. going to resonate for us where we have been studying for this,

  68. are you You ready? Because what it looks like and

  69. what 1st Corinthians, 14 talks about and worship is order.

  70. We know about order women talking about order were lured.

  71. You set us up for this right there standing there and they're

  72. worshiping and they're raising their hands and they're coming

  73. in, they're going but it's not out of control.

  74. It is ordered which reminds us very much of our God.

  75. Now here's the other thing and I say it's not done yet, okay?

  76. I believe there's this sense of sitting and being filled in love

  77. what I do. And again, do I believe, I

  78. believe that it's real. I believe that this is a unique

  79. expression. I've got simply because it

  80. doesn't happen all the time, right?

  81. It doesn't have anywhere. Here's the deal.

  82. The goal of Revival is not simply to make us feel

  83. something. The goal of Revival is to remind

  84. us and convince us and give us the basis of faith in God's love

  85. so that we can then go out and love the world.

  86. My prayer is not that all of us us would take a quick trip to

  87. Kentucky so that we can see what Revival looks like.

  88. My prayer is that all of us would pray that what happens in

  89. Kentucky will happen here? Because here's my take as a

  90. pastor, I want every single thing that God has for us, even,

  91. if are you ready? It makes me uncomfortable, even

  92. if I can't control it, even if it challenges and stretches my

  93. Faith, whatever that looks like. You know what, the single

  94. biggest stretch of my faith is in this last thing, I'm going to

  95. say about this for right now. I'd love to talk to you

  96. afterwards if you want, but I want to talk about this.

  97. You know what? The greatest excitement and step

  98. of and challenged. My faith is, are you listening?

  99. It's student-led. And here's what that means for

  100. us. Cranky Gen-X Boomer.

  101. All that I listen, I say this with all seriousness, listen,

  102. they're not waiting and asking for permission to connect with

  103. the Lord. We can continue to insist that

  104. the young people get off our Lawns or we can acknowledge that

  105. something, very special seems to be happening.

  106. My hope is that we old heads and I include myself in this would

  107. nuzzle up to a 20 year old, and listen to them, talk about God,

  108. and find out, what's going on and listen to what they hunger

  109. for and I throw stuff and listen that we can tell.

  110. Mike, we've got things to offer, they need to grow and I'm not

  111. just talking about that all day, but And this is an opportunity.

  112. It is in front of us at his front and center in our

  113. Consciousness. I think that we have an

  114. opportunity to go. Lord, can you do something here

  115. that challenges us and stretches us?

  116. We pray with me for this Lord. I Thank you for what seems to

  117. happen be happening in Kentucky. And I thank you because I want

  118. to believe that you can pour your heart out like that.

  119. And this place that your spirit can lead us in Lord.

  120. When we, it seems to look like what we see in heaven.

  121. Father. When we see pictures of Heaven,

  122. There are people from all over worshipping lifting you up.

  123. And so Jesus, my prayer is that, that would come here, that we

  124. would sit in your love that we would understand your goodness

  125. and your grace not just intellectually but Tin

  126. experientially that we would know what that would experience

  127. your love and then express it. I thank you, Father, we know

  128. that your Sovereign and you're good.

  129. And so we ask that you would do in US everything that's in your

  130. heart, we asked Jesus with confidence and faith in your

  131. name and for your glory. Amen, the last thing.

  132. If you don't know about Asbury, if you're on social media and

  133. you don't know about as Mary, you got to check your algorithm

  134. bro because you need to mix some Jesus in because it's

  135. everywhere. So I'll just leave that for you

  136. to do and some of you are like have to go now and So we last

  137. the last several weeks, we started the year talking about

  138. the blueprint, God's blueprint for creation and how God put

  139. life in order and how he created, as a unique expression

  140. of his love for mankind. But what we saw last week was

  141. how mankind chose that they didn't want the order that God

  142. created, they wanted to try it themselves.

  143. And so we saw them walking out of the Garden of Eden last last

  144. week, abandoning their vocation and vocation was a big idea.

  145. We spent a lot of Time, I talked for a long time last week,

  146. unpacking and talking about this idea of vocation, it's what were

  147. built for and it all comes back to order.

  148. We're told in the beginning, God created in the beginning was the

  149. word. So at the very beginning before

  150. any of it was God, God always comes first in your life, and

  151. your salvation, and your hope, and your Redemption, and your

  152. restoration and all of that. God always comes first.

  153. He always has the first word and so God was, and he was good and

  154. then he created and he created a world in Order.

  155. And he said he separated, he putting he says Let There Be

  156. time and then let there be atmosphere and let there be

  157. ground and let all of the emptiness.

  158. Be filled and let the filled have purpose, right?

  159. And so he created creation and then right in the middle, or

  160. told it he created Mankind and order is everything.

  161. What he told mankind was, you will reflect my image.

  162. So, the order of creation is important, you have God, and you

  163. have Mankind and you have creation.

  164. And the order was God, Gives his image to Mankind and then

  165. mankind images. The good order of God into the

  166. world. How does he do that by planting

  167. by expanding by multiplying God, planted a garden in the East,

  168. and he planted mankind there. And he said fill the Earth with

  169. it, that's how we image, God into the world.

  170. We multiply what he started creation.

  171. Then in its orderly State as it grows and expands and fills the

  172. Earth reflects worship back to God.

  173. Do you see the order God? Mankind creation creation

  174. mankind. God and it's this never-ending

  175. Loop always with God at first. And last week we saw what

  176. happens when Eve and Adam say, I wonder what happens if we skip

  177. the god part, which is what we often do, God created a world.

  178. But I wonder if I skip, if I Take God out of the money part,

  179. what if I Take God out of the sex part?

  180. What if I Take God out of the identity part?

  181. What if I take Thank God out of the fun part.

  182. Then what's left? And that's the question for the

  183. fall because we saw last week we saw God not in Anger, cursing

  184. mankind, but explain to them. Hey, you wanted a world without

  185. God at the helm where you would decide for yourself.

  186. What is good where you would defy decide for yourself, what's

  187. good and evil? He said, so let me just tell you

  188. what. That looks like.

  189. It looks like your work will be fruitless.

  190. You'll try before you adjust like Turn the soil and stuff

  191. with pop-up, right plants and trees and all that.

  192. But now he says thorns and thistles Eve, we saw how Eve was

  193. created uniquely Eve was created relationally out of atoms side.

  194. And what God Said is Eve without me your relational.

  195. The relational part of you. It doesn't work.

  196. It doesn't, it doesn't? Yeah, it doesn't work as well.

  197. So the question for us as Adam and Eve walked out of the garden

  198. last week as where does that leave us?

  199. Does the curse get the last word?

  200. And we feel like it does sometimes because if you ever

  201. felt like your job is fruitless, like you go and you're like is

  202. all thorns and thistles today, boy.

  203. Like I just go and I punched a clock and I'll come home and

  204. I'll sleep and it'll be fine. But then tomorrow I get to stand

  205. up and do it all over again. And you have you ever wondered?

  206. Is that what my life is now? That's a reflection of the Fall.

  207. That's how it was. How about your relationships?

  208. You ever? Just feel like you're never

  209. going to be truly known. You're never going to truly love

  210. the way that it's supposed to be.

  211. Do all of your Relationships feel like hard work.

  212. Like striving like misunderstanding like

  213. miscommunication. Do you find yourself on a

  214. constant circle of blaming in hiding and dodging and blaming?

  215. This is all pictures of the fall and so last week we left with

  216. bad news but I want to tell you there's really good news on the

  217. horizon. It's coming in several weeks,

  218. it's going to be on April 9th, we're going to get there.

  219. But before that, I just want to give you a precursor right?

  220. Like because what happened last week, With a fall was our

  221. relationship. God was broken, right?

  222. And so here's the good news. Are you ready?

  223. Because if you walked out last week and you're just kind of

  224. crazy, here's the good news, some of you will recognize it.

  225. Get it. What we saw in the garden last

  226. week was we are badly broken. Yes, you are.

  227. That's the rest of the story. You can't only tell half of the

  228. story, whether you tell the broken half or the love tap, you

  229. can't only tell half the story you have to tell the whole

  230. thing. This is why this is our

  231. confession, several people last week's.

  232. And why don't we say badly? Broken deeply, love anymore,

  233. because I wanted us to feel it because I think it's real easy

  234. to get away from the broken. This part, just go nowhere,

  235. right? A lot.

  236. And so I wanted us to see that that our Brokenness isn't just

  237. that we eat apples instead of pears but that are Our

  238. Brokenness is we want to be God in this world and so my hope is

  239. today that the story that we can tell today will bridge the gap,

  240. My Hope Is that you'll see some light bulbs that will go on

  241. because we have spent for the last five weeks we've been in

  242. Genesis. And today, we're going to jump

  243. to two passages one in the Book of Luke and one in the Book of

  244. Matthew. If you have your Bible, and I

  245. hope that you do, you can turn to Luke chapter 9 and we will

    Luke 9 chapter mention

  246. start there. And then after that, we will go

  247. to You chapter 16. So just to kind of fast forward,

  248. many thousands of years from Genesis chapter 3 and we now

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  249. show up, we are in first century Palestine, first century, its

  250. kind of Syria. We know it kind of is Israel

  251. today and there's a Jewish Carpenter named, Jesus of his

  252. father was called Joseph. His mother was called Mary, he's

  253. showing up on the scene and he's building a following talking

  254. about the kingdom. And his message is the kingdom

  255. of God. God is at hand, and that's

  256. something that we kind of talked a lot about today.

  257. But I hope that you see something today that makes you

  258. go. I get that, I recognize that.

  259. All right, let's see. Luke chapter 9 starting in verse

    Luke 9 chapter mention

  260. 1. Jesus called the twelve together

  261. and he gave them power and authority over all demons and to

  262. cure disease. Let me just make a connection

  263. real quick. Do you remember in the garden

  264. when God gave Adam and Eve? Their vocation?

  265. Do you remember what he said? He said to have dominion over

  266. all of creation. Another word for Dominion is

  267. Authority. So we have the authority and

  268. Dominion lost, not exercised in the garden.

  269. And here we had, Jesus calling his followers.

  270. And the first thing he does when he sends them out, as he gives

  271. them their Authority back here. E institutes the kingdom for

  272. them verse 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of

  273. God and to heal, and he said to them, take nothing for your

  274. journey. No staff or bag or bread, or

  275. money and do not have two tunics.

  276. So he talks told them to go out and proclaim the kingdom.

  277. You know what he's doing? He's telling them be fruitful

  278. multiply Fly. Have you heard that before we're

  279. in the garden? When God told Adam and Eve and

  280. he planted them. They said, go be fruitful

  281. multiply expand the garden, take it.

  282. And what did he say? What did he tell them?

  283. He says and The Obedience will be that you will trust me that

  284. you'll know you don't need to bring anything.

  285. They were naked. They didn't have anything and

  286. they were unashamed. Why?

  287. Because they trusted God, because they knew that God would

  288. be good. They knew that God would provide

  289. for them. They knew that the only thing

  290. that they had to worry about was the job.

  291. The god planted before them. So what did Jesus say?

  292. Says, don't take anything. Don't take a bag or a staff, or

  293. bread or money and don't have two tunics.

  294. He's pushing them once again to rely in entirely on God, for

  295. their provision. Do you see what Jesus is doing?

  296. Jesus doesn't just, and just announced the kingdom.

  297. You don't say, hey, the kingdom is here.

  298. What he said is, if you're going to be my follower, which is who

  299. he's talking to here, if you're going to be my follower, you

  300. can't just think about the kingdom.

  301. You have to live in the Kingdom. Following Jesus isn't just about

  302. understanding, it's not just about ideas, it's about

  303. practical reality. He goes on verse 4 and whatever

  304. house you enter stay there and from there depart and wherever

  305. they do not receive you. When you leave that town, shake

  306. off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them, and they

  307. departed and went through the villages preaching, the gospel

  308. and healing everywhere. So, Jesus again, makes his

  309. followers, a definition of a follower is living out this

  310. Kingdom. Walking around in the Kingdom,

  311. right? So now we go down to verse 10

  312. because his disciples they left, they did what he said and they

  313. came back in there like Jesus You're not gonna believe what

  314. happened and she's like, oh, tell me.

  315. And they said demons, fled from us all of the things, Jesus,

  316. that you said would happen happened.

  317. So, I guess you actually technically did know what was

  318. gonna happen, and he just celebrates any parties.

  319. Listen, and verse 10 on the return, the apostles told him

  320. all that they had done and he took them in withdrew apart to a

  321. town called bethsaida. Now, just let me stop right

  322. there because I often in my prayers, go Jesus, you're

  323. awesome, you need help. Help learning how to build a

  324. church because every time good things happen.

  325. You leave town. Like you, jeez.

  326. You're always like, hey, hey, we healed.

  327. We did all the stuff. And she's like, yeah, let's go,

  328. somewhere else. Peter's like, Jesus, I thought

  329. you were trying to build a following and the following is

  330. here. If we could just stay put, but

  331. see, Jesus says, it's not just about what I want.

  332. It's not just about building a following that I want a shot.

  333. Not just about having everybody in town think that I need.

  334. It's not just about everybody. Hey, coming out and listen to a

  335. message and saying, I heard that.

  336. That's not what it's about, right?

  337. And in verse 11, When the Crowds learned it, they followed him

  338. and he welcomed them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God,

  339. and he cured those who had need of healing.

  340. So, this is important, right? When we see Jesus and his

  341. disciples, what Jesus and his disciples are doing in Matthew,

  342. Mark, Luke and John is living out Kingdom realities when Jesus

  343. called them all of the things, right?

  344. Jesus gets in a boat. Tell them to put their Their

  345. Nets down. They catch thousands of fish.

  346. That's the kingdom. When Jesus touches Peters

  347. mother-in-law and her fever leaves.

  348. That's the kingdom when he heals and fees and restores, that's

  349. the kingdom and he points to it. And he talks about it and then

  350. verse 12. Now, the day began to wear away

  351. and the crowd came and said to him.

  352. Wait, no and the twelve came and said to him, send the crowd away

  353. and go into the surrounding Villages and Countryside to find

  354. lodging and get Provisions for. We are here in a desolate Place.

  355. Listen, what is desolate place? I'm like do you remember in

  356. Genesis 2 when God was talking about where he created mankind?

  357. Before he placed them in? The garden says they were in the

  358. wilderness. They were in a wild Place, see

  359. before God created the garden, where God's presence wasn't,

  360. where he hadn't yet done it, it was while, then it was crazy,

  361. and it, right? And it was not the garden.

  362. And so here we have reflections of that.

  363. Here, we have an entire culture in a society.

  364. And in fact of all of history, We living in a apart from God's

  365. good creation, verse 13. But he said to them, you give

  366. them something to eat. And they said, we have no more

  367. than Five Loaves and two fish, unless we were to go and buy

  368. food for all of these people. So, Jesus living out Kingdom

  369. realities in a world ordered around the fall.

  370. Listen, everywhere you go, every Every institution that you

  371. encounter is formed and shaped by the Fall, by those principles

  372. that were outlined in Genesis chapter 3.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  373. Work is fruitless your relationships, are are futile,

  374. and difficult and hard and not what they were created and not

  375. what they were supposed to be. And here comes Jesus right,

  376. intimate, right? And we fight for power and we

  377. fight for control. We fight to win and to get for

  378. ourselves and right into the middle of that.

  379. Jesus comes not just Talking about a kingdom but

  380. demonstrating a kingdom. And now we find in verse 17.

  381. So he gives us. And everybody comes up and

  382. there's thoroughly thoroughly familiar with the fall, right?

  383. The fall looks like limitations, there's not enough food here and

  384. so what does Jesus do? He says, oh yeah, just feed

  385. them. There's not enough food.

  386. Jesus, Five Loaves to fish. That's all Jesus is.

  387. Like, tell everyone to sit down. I'll pray.

  388. So he prays and Jesus prays. This ridiculous prayer.

  389. Thank you for your abundance, right?

  390. It'd be like if I was here and look, I have this mint.

  391. I'm going to share it with all of you.

  392. Lord, thank you for this thy abundant Bounty, right?

  393. Doesn't make any sense and then he just starts handing them out.

  394. I wonder what it looked like, but we're told in verse 17.

  395. They all ate and we're satisfied.

  396. And what was left over was picked up twelve baskets of

  397. broken peep of pieces. So, what we find is even in a

  398. world ordered around the fall when Jesus shows up and starts

  399. announcing the kingdom and starts talking about the kingdom

  400. and starts getting involved. And what's going on.

  401. Everything begins to look abundant just like the garden.

  402. Just like when he got started, the very first time.

  403. So if this Kingdom, right? Jesus came to enact a kingdom.

  404. If this Kingdom enacted by Jesus.

  405. If it reflects the Garden of Eden created by father, right?

  406. And Jesus came and said, hey repent because the kingdom

  407. Kingdoms here, if it looks like that, the question is, why is it

  408. so hard? Your felt like that.

  409. It's just really hard to follow Jesus.

  410. I think it's really hard to do all the things I have.

  411. I'll never forget when I was a youth.

  412. Pastor. I had a young man, his name was

  413. Steven, and his trusted trouble, man.

  414. It came from a difficult, family, and a difficult stuff.

  415. Whatever, he came to me at this Youth Event, one time and he has

  416. man, this Jesus thing is just too hard and he had sadness.

  417. I think kind of, saw his face on, try to talking about go, no

  418. matter. Man, you kind of never I never

  419. saw him again. And that's my concern.

  420. That's my question. Like we tried this thing and we

  421. go and it's difficult and it's hard.

  422. But why is it hard? Now we're going to turn to the

  423. Book of Matthew. We're going to be in Matthew

    Matthew 16 chapter mention

  424. chapter 16, but I just while you're looking for that, it's

  425. want to stop and I want him real quick.

  426. Just ask this question. What if the answer that

  427. question, right? Like, why is it so hard if Jesus

  428. came to an active Kingdom? Why is that so hard?

  429. What if the answer to that question is staggeringly,

  430. simple. I mean, staggering I'm going to

  431. tell you what it is and you're going to go there must be more

  432. to it. In fact, most of us probably me

  433. include we're going to walk out and try a whole bunch of other

  434. different things and and kind of end up fruitless and

  435. frustrating. So the question is, what if the

  436. solution was just so easy that literally any person could do it

  437. and most people don't The question would be, where will

  438. you be and the end of today, where will you be right?

  439. So we're now in Matthew chapter 16 and just to set the stage,

    Matthew 16 chapter mention

  440. everything that we just read in. Luke has has just happened in

  441. Matthew. The Book of Matthew Mark, Luke

  442. and John, it's basically the same story.

  443. It's the story of Jesus is life, told from a different

  444. perspective. So they've got lots of overlap

  445. on the stories, they tell. So we have just heard about

  446. Jesus, feeding the 5,000 to decide Apples and they get away.

  447. Now, we're in verse 16 and we go to verse 13.

  448. Now, in Jesus came to the district of caesarea Philippi,

  449. this was unusual, they walked around.

  450. He was an itinerant preacher. So they feed the 5,000, they

  451. have their thing, and he gets up, and he walks around, and

  452. they go to this place called caesarea Philippi says area.

  453. After Caesar Philip I was herod's nephew.

  454. He was absolutely sucking up to to the Caesar.

  455. So he named a town after Caesar and himself but it's a

  456. thoroughly Gentile city, right? Lots going on in.

  457. Verse 13. Jesus comes to the district of

  458. caesarea Philippi. And he asks his disciples, who

  459. do people say that? The son of man is son of, man,

  460. he's talking about himself. It is a reference to the Book of

  461. Daniel, where it talks about the Messiah, T of the Messiah, one

  462. would come like a son of man, right?

  463. So he's basically saying hey who do people think that I am and

  464. they his disciples said some say that you're John the Baptist and

  465. others say that you're Elijah and others say Jeremiah or one

  466. of the prophets. Now what's interesting about

  467. that is all of those were Prophets different prophets,

  468. Jeremiah was called the weeping prophet Jeremiah prophesied.

  469. That Jerusalem would fall that it would be raised and leveled

  470. and down. And so, if you read the book of

  471. Lamentations lamentation was the book written by Jeremiah the

  472. prophet about the destruction of Jerusalem, lots of Tears, lots

  473. of Sorrow, loss of sadness, the Prophet Elijah, you read about

  474. in The Book of 1st Kings known for miracles.

  475. He called fire from heaven. That's pretty awesome, right?

  476. Like, if people are saying you're like Elijah, That's you

  477. should be stoked about that, right?

  478. John, the Baptist was the most recent prophet in Israel's

  479. history and the thing about John, the Baptist, John the

  480. Baptist spoke truth to power, right?

  481. John, the Baptist was like, fake news, that's not.

  482. It tried Pharisees, you're wrong.

  483. It's that easy tour stuff up, right?

  484. And so everybody's got an opinion about Jesus, Jesus,

  485. like, hey, who did I say? I'm well, they all think you're

  486. a profit, no matter how good a profit.

  487. They think you are. The thing about being a prophet

  488. is a prophet is not God, which means I can sit there and go

  489. tell me what you think profit. And that's very interesting, but

  490. I reject what you saying? When Jesus asked the question,

  491. who do people say that I am the answer?

  492. Come back. Oh, they all say that your

  493. profited doesn't mean that Jesus isn't important.

  494. It doesn't mean that Jesus isn't respected because he absolutely

  495. is important. He absolutely is respected

  496. anybody. Who thinks Jesus is our Prophet,

  497. they probably really think he's a neat guy.

  498. They just don't think they have to obey him.

  499. I feel like many of us feel the same way about Jesus today.

  500. He's a neat guy. He's a good profit, probably a

  501. moral teacher had a lot of Good stuff to say, but he doesn't

  502. give us commands for our life. So he asks who do people say

  503. that him? And he goes on.

  504. And this is a great question. Verse 15, he said to them to his

  505. disciples but who do you say that I am?

  506. And this question is wrapped up, this goes back to our question

  507. last week. Do you remember the question

  508. about Adam and Eve, right? It says, you'll be able to be

  509. like God. And what we saw that gets

  510. wrapped up in that is who gets to Define what good is.

  511. See, the definition of what is good.

  512. All it's an authority question and always ultimately lands in

  513. God's lap fully and finally God as the creator of all things is

  514. the one who gets to say and decide what good is.

  515. So this is what Jesus is asking. He's asking us to his disciples,

  516. who do you say that? I am, right?

  517. And so, they go on and Peter has a moment, right?

  518. Like, hey, truly, this has got to be one of Peter like early

  519. Peter gets it, Simon Peter replied.

  520. You are the Christ. The son of the Living, God, that

  521. word Christ Christos in Greek, is the Hebrew word Messiah, and

  522. it means anointed. It means king it means chosen.

  523. It means set apart. And so Peter says, Jesus, you're

  524. no, you're no profit. I mean, you are a prophet.

  525. But more than that, your God, we see you, Jesus, we've known that

  526. your God. And so think of all that gets

  527. wrapped up in that we know who God is, and notice what Jesus

  528. says, Verse 17 and Jesus answered and blessed.

  529. Are you Simon son of John for flesh?

  530. And blood has not revealed this to you, but my father who is in

  531. heaven? Do you remember in John chapter

    John 3 chapter mention

  532. 3 when Jesus was talking to Nicodemus?

  533. And he said, you can't even see the kingdom, unless you're born

  534. again. This wasn't something that John

  535. that, that Peter just deduced. What we're told is that God

  536. showed Peter God brought this God made this clear to Peter who

  537. he was. He opened his eyes to see in

  538. verse 19. And I tell you that you are

  539. Peter and on this rock, I will build my church.

  540. There's some wordplay going on there and I want to talk about

  541. too much, but the Greek word for peter is Petrus, right?

  542. And the greed were Greek word for rock is Petra, right?

  543. And so that right, the good, we got it right there like that.

  544. So they go there. So what happened is right?

  545. He's given Simon and nickname. He's like, hey, you're not Simon

  546. anymore. Your your Rocky when call you

  547. Rocky because you're tough, because you get it because

  548. you're good, you got this, right?

  549. And then he looks at him and goes and Peter and on this rock

  550. Peter, I'm going to build my church and had all these kind of

  551. meetings, right? Peter would go on to be a leader

  552. in the end, kind of in the first church.

  553. But really the idea is that confession.

  554. Listen, the Church of Jesus is going to be built on the

  555. confession. That Jesus isn't just a prophet.

  556. Jesus isn't a guy who had good stuff to say, Jesus is the son

  557. of God. He is the Eternal creator of all

  558. things. He is the one to whom.

  559. And for whom, and through whom all things were created.

  560. He is the one that ultimately in eternity.

  561. All things will be restored to in return to, he is the one And

  562. the question for you and for me today, is who do you say he is?

  563. Because the world is full of people, looking for a profit,

  564. someone's a someone, they can get some good information and

  565. some good idea. But what we don't have is

  566. someone who has the privilege and the right to tell us what we

  567. are and who we are. And that is the only place.

  568. Now, let me just real quick. How do you answer that?

  569. Who do you say that? He is.

  570. Now, please don't say words because it's not just words,

  571. it's just like this this thing going on in Asbury.

  572. Like right now, I wanted to go worship get full.

  573. But you know what? I want to see in Kentucky.

  574. You know what? I want to see when Bible comes

  575. here, I want to see no more foster kids because the church

  576. stands up and goes will take them all.

  577. I want to see the church stand up and go there won't be any

  578. hungry. People as much as it depends on

  579. us because we'll feed them all. Oh, it's costly.

  580. Oh, you, you need me to give you need me to give money to fairly.

  581. Sure. I'll do it.

  582. Will do. What is what does it take?

  583. What is it? One?

  584. See when God is God, when he is the king, and when we pray, like

  585. he praised Your Kingdom. Come On Earth as it is in

  586. heaven. Now, we start to go to like book

  587. of Acts, right? Where we see there were no needy

  588. people among them. Well, how do you I think that

  589. happened because the church stood up and so don't answer

  590. that but considerate and contemplate it and think about

  591. it because the only place that the kingdom can start in, you is

  592. with a confession like that. You are the Christ, the son of

  593. the Living God but confession isn't enough.

  594. Peter proves that are you ready? What did he just tell?

  595. Jesus, answer back. What did he just tell?

  596. You're the Christ. You're the, you're the king,

  597. you're the boss. Okay.

  598. Verse 24, then Jesus told the disciples.

  599. No, that's not it. Verse 21.

  600. Okay. So, Peter just made the

  601. confession for 21 from that time on.

  602. Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to

  603. Jerusalem and suffer, many things from the elders and the

  604. chief priests and scribes and be killed and on the third day, be

  605. raised. So you see Jesus setting them up

  606. a little bit. Hey, who do you think?

  607. I You're the king. That's right on the king.

  608. And guess what? All these losers.

  609. They're going to kill me. Well, geez, that's a terrible

  610. Kingdom. What kind of kingdom is it?

  611. Where you can just kill the king whenever you want?

  612. And now, Peters just had his moment, right?

  613. Peter just saw it. He was just celebrate, right?

  614. He just ignores God Jesus. You are the king, right?

  615. And verse 22. And Peter took Jesus aside and

  616. began to rebuke him saying, far be it from you, Lord, this shall

  617. never happen to you real quick. Who do you think Peter thought

  618. was God? You're the King Jesus but I'm

  619. going to tell you what to do. See, Peter had good information,

  620. he had good theology, had good information but it hadn't gone

  621. down into his heart yet, right? See, we have the same problem,

  622. often we have this intellectual incompatibility with Jesus, with

  623. King, with authority, with Rule and with suffering.

  624. And the question is, couldn't Jesus.

  625. Just stop the suffering? Couldn't he just make it stop?

  626. Yeah, he could have but he didn't.

  627. Why good. I'm going to show you how y'all

  628. ask great questions. I'm so proud of you are

  629. wonderful. I want to read Hebrews chapter

    Hebrews 5:7

  630. 5, verse 7 and the days of his flesh.

  631. Jesus offered up prayers and supplications with loud cries

  632. and tears to his He was able to save him from death and he was

  633. heard because of his reverence, right?

  634. And he was just talking about the Garden of Gethsemane.

  635. You've heard about this, right? Jesus goes, and he lays down.

  636. And what does he pray? He says, if it's possible let

  637. this cup pass from me. Jesus was like hey let's do a

  638. different way. Hey I don't I don't want to I

  639. don't want to do the cross. Jesus Christ himself prayed and

  640. asked that God would deliver him from suffering.

  641. So let me ask is that okay? Okay, for you to pray to be

  642. delivered from suffering. You're like, tell me the answer,

  643. anybody want to bet you bet your boots?

  644. You bet your boots, you pray for it Lord, if it's possible, let

  645. this cup pass from me. But you remember what father

  646. said to Jesus? I can't, I can't do.

  647. You know why? Because here's the deal.

  648. Some of you are facing suffering right now, some of you are

  649. facing the unknown. Some of you are facing pain and

  650. fear, and grief, and sorrow, and emptiness and loss, and you're

  651. crying out. Oh God my God.

  652. Why have you forsaken me? Where are you?

  653. And I want you to know, in that moment you are exactly where

  654. Jesus was If we never pray that prayer, if we never get honest

  655. about that feeling we can never have a sense.

  656. Right? Because what's this, all about?

  657. It goes on, although he was a son, he learned obedience

  658. through what he suffered see, suffering has an important part,

  659. right? Because here's the part.

  660. What happens when most of us suffer, we turn around and go

  661. the other way, don't we we quit as soon as Adam and Eve figured

  662. out that there might be something that they didn't know

  663. that they didn't have absolutely everything.

  664. What do they do? Did they quit the game?

  665. They backed out of the Covenant, did their own thing figured out

  666. they were going to do but we're find is Jesus not only enters

  667. into some, he asks to be delivered from suffering but

  668. when God says no he just keeps going and being made perfect.

  669. He became the source of Eternal salvation to all who will obey

  670. him being designated by God. A high priest.

  671. After the order of Melchizedek, oh my gosh, Jesus moves toward

  672. suffering. And let me tell you what

  673. happens. Are you listening?

  674. Good. It's better.

  675. We hide from suffering because we just, oh my gosh.

  676. I can't that will possibly do it.

  677. But here's what Jesus did. Jesus said, okay?

  678. And he went through it and was it hard?

  679. It was death literal, physical death murder, they whip him with

  680. a whip until the flesh came off of his back, then they nailed

  681. him to would and they held him up.

  682. So he died by asphyxiation with his guts all over it.

  683. Where it was the worst thing, the Romans could possibly

  684. conceive of and he suffered and he went through it.

  685. But guess what? But he's not suffering anymore,

  686. you know who often does suffer us.

  687. Do you know why? Because we escaped at the first

  688. chance we get, And we just keep running back into it and we just

  689. keep. And, but, what we're told, is

  690. that Jesus submitted to suffering, he learned obedience

  691. from what he was suffering and so resurrected he came back,

  692. right? So we find back to Matthew

    Matthew 16:22

  693. chapter 16 verse 22. I already read all of that.

  694. I get behind me saying that, right?

  695. He said that verse 16 23 he turned Jesus turned to Peter and

  696. said, get behind me. You're a hindrance.

  697. You're not setting your mind on things of God, but on the things

  698. of man, right? And so Peters all about

  699. self-preservation, which is what we often are two, right where we

  700. just go. Will God wouldn't call me to

  701. that God wouldn't want me to have pain?

  702. God wouldn't want me to suffer? God wouldn't want me to have

  703. anything like that. And what we have is Jesus Christ

  704. as the answer to that, if God would not spare his son from

  705. that, why would he spare us? Us from that and you sit there

  706. and use. Go will God.

  707. So mean he's not He asks you to give up something limited and

  708. finite for something Eternal and never-ending.

  709. Here's what I'm saying, I'm going to kind of give away the

  710. whole message and then we're going to unpack it whatever you

  711. give up for Jesus up to, and including your very life, is

  712. nothing compared to what he gives you.

  713. What Jesus has for you is better and you go.

  714. Oh man. But I'm sick.

  715. And I'm kind of like it's better the faith.

  716. If and listen, I don't promise that.

  717. Jesus heals, anybody? Jesus gets to decide because I'm

  718. not God, but I know I have known people who have found father in

  719. pain and suffering and sickness and loneliness and fear and

  720. their testimony, every time was it was worth it.

  721. There is a lady who is near and dear to my heart and she told me

  722. this is a quote. She said quote, I thought I knew

  723. how much Jesus loved me until I got cancer.

  724. That's a challenged, my faith challenges me, but that woman

  725. knows the kingdom that know, that woman knows what it is to

  726. meet Jesus in the midst of suffering.

  727. So, the Jesus of the truth about Jesus hadn't made it to Peter's

  728. heart yet. So he stayed Fallen happens to

  729. us too and that brings us to now something very special happens

  730. on Wednesday, to let me know what happens on Wednesday, Ash

  731. Wednesday, Ash, Wednesday is a Catholic thing.

  732. I'm not Catholic. Like, I don't do that the ashes

  733. on my head, right? But what I do want to do for the

  734. next several weeks leading up to Easter is we're going to walk

  735. through this Lent. I meant to bring a book.

  736. I read a book. Several years ago to devotional

  737. book, it's called lint for non lint.

  738. People not lent like your pocket, right?

  739. Not lint, like what comes out of your dryer?

  740. Lint, Ellie in t, right? It's a season of kind of

  741. spiritual the if you want to get the book again.

  742. Lent for non lint people by a guy called John Swanson.

  743. It's pretty good. We're going to be in this season

  744. up until Easter but here's the idea that I want to present You,

  745. right? It's this Lent confronts us with

  746. death. To prepare us for Resurrection.

  747. See, we're in Easter season now, and we love to talk about

  748. Easter. It's a big party, right?

  749. We celebrate its streamers and eggs and bunnies and all of the

  750. good things, right? Right.

  751. But it's not active others, it's about Jesus and it's about the

  752. resurrection and it's about all of that.

  753. But here's the thing as much as we love the good news of Easter,

  754. we don't get the good news, we don't understand the good news

  755. until we can understand. The bad news and this season of

  756. Lent is a season that a lot of American churches mrs.

  757. Missed because we don't like to talk about suffering about pain.

  758. And so what we're going to see is over the next several weeks,

  759. how those experiences the unique expressions and manifestations

  760. of those experiences cause us and allow us to experience Jesus

  761. more. And I believe that this is going

  762. to be good news because as much as we run from it and as much as

  763. we hide from it as well as much as we don't like to deal with

  764. it. There's very Jesus said blessed.

  765. Those who mourn because they will be, comforted those who

  766. endure suffering, find God in a unique way.

  767. If they will enter in, do you want to know how to do that?

  768. Well, again, this is where we get to the easy part.

  769. It's so simple, not easy. Simple, you ready?

  770. If God is God, and he is, if he is God, then obedience to him

  771. will make resume click, make room for New Life, okay, so how

  772. do we make room for a moment to read Matthew chapter?

  773. 16 starting In verse 24, Jesus told his disciples and that

  774. counts for us to who are followers of him.

  775. If anyone would come after me let him deny himself and take up

  776. his cross and follow me. And just real quick to jump

  777. ahead to the end of the story. Easter is ultimately about the

  778. man who was God taking up his cross and following the father.

  779. So if we are going to be Disciples of that, man, we also

  780. must do these things and I want to just say real quick Jesus

  781. makes this a condition if Anyone, you know, some of the

  782. criticism in the critiques against what's going on at

  783. Asbury are doctrinal, right? Like they say things like they

  784. discredit that it's a move of God, which whatever, whatever.

  785. But they do it for doctrinal reasons, right?

  786. Oh, well the methodists, let women preach.

  787. So, God couldn't do that. And what I just say is be real

  788. careful Acts chapter 5 white well in the Old Testament.

    Acts 5 chapter mention

  789. There's a story about King David and he went out and he came back

  790. and He danced, he was worshipping.

  791. And he was like, crazy out-of-control, woo, dancing and

  792. partying and one of his wives was like, yeah, you look like a

  793. fool out there. They'll real distinguish all my

  794. how the king distinguished himself today and you know what,

  795. King David said to her for shaming his worship, he said

  796. your womb will be closed and it was I'm not praying any of that

  797. for you but the idea the point is just be careful when you

  798. judge other people's worship, right?

  799. I forgot where I was going with that.

  800. The idea is Right. Deny yourself, take up your

  801. cross and follow me to the first thing you have to do is deny

  802. yourself. One of the primary things most

  803. people think of when they think of Lent as they think of

  804. fasting, right? Like during this time between

  805. now and Easter people will Fast, they'll give up food, they will

  806. they will give up meat they will give up some people give up

  807. alcohol, they'll give up something.

  808. The idea behind fasting is saying no to your appetites so

  809. that you could say, yes to God, right?

  810. And you do it. Not because you want to or not,

  811. what not? Because, Cuz you have to but

  812. because you choose to you say no, even when you want to say

  813. yes, the most common expression of fasting often in biblical

  814. times was food, so people would give up food for a day.

  815. Now, does that mean that we you start in the morning?

  816. O Lord, I am fasting today, therefore, please don't let me

  817. get hungry. Nope, that's not how it works.

  818. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

  819. I am an intermittent fasting guy.

  820. I don't, I don't eat breakfast. But on days, when I fast about

  821. 8:00 in the morning, My body begins to remind me, that I'm

  822. minutes away from Death, right? It's starvation, is at the door,

  823. right? But guess what?

  824. I've never died from fasting yet.

  825. And in fact, the voices in my head are the point.

  826. Because on days when I'm fasting the voices in my head telling me

  827. that I need to eat a sandwich, right?

  828. Listen to your desires. Jason, listen to your appetites,

  829. they're there for you, they're good for you, right?

  830. But here's the deal. Sometimes the Voices in my head

  831. say, wouldn't you like to fantasize about that?

  832. Wouldn't it be great if she was? You see if I'm not in the habit

  833. of telling my desires, no, then I'm not ready.

  834. When the really big things come up fasting is hard.

  835. It really is hard, it pays dividends.

  836. Now I'm not your doctor if you're diabetic and you can't,

  837. please do not kill yourself for fasting.

  838. Find some those, if you want to say, I'm gonna give up Facebook,

  839. or I'm going to forgive, give up, whatever, that's great.

  840. Something costly and don't quit. So here's what.

  841. I said we're doing our prayer thing Thursday, this Wednesday.

  842. I'm going too fast on Wednesday. I'm not gonna eat.

  843. I'm gonna eat dinner on Thursday night and then I'm not going to

  844. eat anything on Wednesday. Also, I'm going too fast on

  845. Thursday, I'll say this you're like oh my gosh, two days.

  846. You must be really spiritual. No, I'm not.

  847. I'm really terrible and I really like food and it's going to be

  848. really hard. That second day is going to be

  849. difficult. My goal though is where I say

  850. Lord I would rather be hungry with you than fat and happy

  851. without it. And it's easy to say that.

  852. But when I say no to Big Mac, when I say no to pizza or steak

  853. or whatever it means something, it means something to me.

  854. And then I get to the end and I go oh you know what?

  855. I really can just trust God with my life and it'll be okay,

  856. right? Deny yourself.

  857. Second. Take up your cross.

  858. Jesus, did not say that you had to enjoy your cross.

  859. He said, take it up anyway, so we have to think about, right?

  860. This is a metaphor. What is Jesus cross?

  861. What did the cross signify to Jesus?

  862. Death, that's where he died. I don't know what your cross is,

  863. but there is something in this world.

  864. A discipline. A habit of practice that will

  865. slowly. But surely put to death, all of

  866. those things in you that keep you from experiencing the good

  867. life that God has it may be forgiveness.

  868. Forgiveness is a discipline fasting is an important part of

  869. it where you learn. I don't tell myself.

  870. No, that's the thing that I've realized I've never said no to

  871. myself and my entire life and Body Bears.

  872. The scars of that it would have been better.

  873. If at 15, I had just learned that I could say no to myself

  874. that I could not do that but I take up my cross.

  875. And what that means is I'm not surprised when I have suffering

  876. in this world what it means is I look at suffering differently.

  877. Do you know why I pick up my cross?

  878. Because I know as sure as I can be, this thing's gonna kill me

  879. and as soon as it kills me, then I'm going to have Resurrection,

  880. you know, what happens for Resurrection, I live forever.

  881. So what taking up our cross me? This doesn't mean that we enjoy

  882. the cross, it means we believe there's something on the other

  883. side of it that is so much better than this pain.

  884. And this fear, and this hurt and this worry and then we follow

  885. him, we really embrace our vocation of trusting him.

  886. I forgot mine. When Jesus said, follow me, he

  887. went to the cross. And we celebrate communion as a

  888. reminder of that, you should have received communion on your

  889. way in and he didn't, they'll have some folks will have some

  890. elements. But Paul tells us that the Lord

  891. Jesus on the night. He was betrayed, he took bread.

  892. And when he had given thanks, he broke it.

  893. And he said, this is my body which is for you.

  894. Do this in remembrance of Me, Jesus said, when you face the

  895. world and they're threatening to break your body to break, you

  896. down to steal from you to take from you, he says everything

  897. that you want, everything is going to want to Bow up and

  898. stand up and fight back. And Jesus said remember that's

  899. not what I did. He said, do the same in

  900. remembrance of me when you give your life to be broken by

  901. somebody, who would crush you and you demonstrate the kingdom,

  902. you're not winning in this world but the kingdom what Jesus said

  903. is, there is power and there is Effectiveness and this Kingdom.

  904. Listen, our job is not to be the last man or woman standing our

  905. job before Jesus is to be the first one kneeling.

  906. This shows us our Pure broken for us.

  907. Jesus before we can take your love out into the world, it has

  908. to saturate us. So you gave us this discipline

  909. of in taking So Jesus has we take this bread, your life, your

  910. body, I pray that you would remind us that we do not do this

  911. alone, we do this with you for others to reflect the order of a

  912. good world and a good life into your creation.

  913. So Jesus, I pray that this bread would bear fruit in my life.

  914. Let's take the bread together and the same way after supper,

  915. he took the cup and he Said this cup is the New Covenant in my

  916. blood do this, as often as you drink it in remembrance of me.

  917. See the cup represents the blood and the blood represents the

  918. life, and here's where we get the starkest demonstration of

  919. his love. When we were in our sin.

  920. Jesus didn't yell at us or boycott us or stand far away

  921. from us. And cuss at us.

  922. What Jesus did is he showed us the kingdom, he pointed us to

  923. the kingdom. He He told us when we missed it

  924. and he gave his life, so that we could have it and he said, do

  925. this in remembrance of me. So, we take this cup and

  926. remembrance of the love that he has given us.

  927. Its take the cup. This communion is a reminder of

  928. our own path because Jesus said, do this in remembrance of me.

  929. And let me just acknowledge if you will, that doesn't sound

  930. like good. I want Plan B, right?

  931. Jesus, can I have plain be without the cross, right?

  932. Listen, how Jesus finished. Whoever would save his life will

  933. lose it. Let me just say this is past or

  934. this is full disclosure here. You are more than welcome to

  935. walk out of this room and disregard every single thing

  936. that I've I've said here's the thing.

  937. Whoever if you want to keep this life that you have your welcome

  938. to, you can go back and you can keep working for it.

  939. And you can hope that your relationships are good and you

  940. can have all the money and the sex and the drugs and the rock

  941. and roll that you want on your terms.

  942. You can do all of that and then some day you're going to die and

  943. you're going to be left with what you're holding there.

  944. Except you can't even keep that. So the question is not, will you

  945. die because the mortality rate for the human race to continue

  946. continues to hover around 100%. The question isn't Not what's

  947. going to happen? The question isn't, are you

  948. going to die the questions going to happen is going to be then?

  949. What? 70 years, 80 years then what

  950. Jesus said. If you keep your life, you'll

  951. lose it. But whoever will lose his life

  952. for my sake, will find it for what does it profit?

  953. A man? If he gains the whole world and

  954. forfeits his soul or what shall a man give in return for his

  955. soul? For the son of man is going to

  956. come with his angels in the glory of his father.

  957. Listen, Jesus is coming back, he will come back with his kingdom

  958. and he will instituted. And there will be a day where

  959. every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess, that Jesus

  960. Christ is Lord to the glory of the father for now and Eternity.

  961. You You can choose to do it now and you will be right in place

  962. on that day or you can insist on knowing for yourself.

  963. He will repay each person. According to what he has done.

  964. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not

  965. taste death until they see the son of man coming in his

  966. kingdom. You know what the son of man

  967. coming in. His kingdom looked like, it

  968. looked like Sunday and looked like Resurrection, it looked

  969. like that's the life that he has for you.

  970. My hope for you is that you won't cling to the death that

  971. holds like a stench to your clothes, but that you will turn

  972. your eyes to the father, to the goodness, to the life, and that

  973. you will embrace the suffering. That Forms, you and formulates

  974. you not like some sadist who just loves to get his teeth

  975. kicked in. But as one who believes that

  976. every ounce of pain and suffering in this life, will be

  977. redeemed. You were created for eternity

  978. friend. Not for 15 or 20 minutes of joy

  979. and good luck here but for an eternity and the presence of the

  980. one who created you. So Jesus, I pray that you would

  981. return and restore our hearts to you.

  982. I pray for those maybe who haven't followed you here today.

  983. Maybe they thought you just wanted them to be good or to

  984. stop doing something and what we find today is that you want to

  985. give them eternity life, love. So I pray that today, they would

  986. simply do that. And if that's you and this room

  987. and you've never done that. Pray this with me, and pray it

  988. out loud. You can pray quietly.

  989. If you want Jesus, I confess that you are God, and I am not

  990. and I have gone my own way, and I need forgiveness.

  991. So I ask that you would forgive me, I accept your body broken

  992. for me, I accept your forgiveness, bought at the cost

  993. of your blood help me everyday to deny myself to take up my

  994. cross and follow you. And Jesus for the rest of us who

  995. have been following, you may we do the same, we're not exempt

  996. from that. I pray that you would send

  997. Revival here. And to the degree that what's

  998. happening in Kentucky isn't from you.

  999. I pray that it would be different here.

1000. But to the degree that it is, I pray that it would Lord, we want

1001. everything that you have, and nothing that you don't, and we

1002. don't cling to our comfort, we cling to you, and we want you.

1003. So, we ask Jesus, all these things in your name, and for

  1004. your glory. Amen.
