morning my name is John relli it's an

honor to be here with you this morning

and we are going to have fun

because we get to celebrate the arrival

of the Kingdom today we celebrate the

arrival of the Kingdom Jesus into

Jerusalem so would you stand with me

this morning I want to teach you a song

with him and all the healing and all the

Deliverance that he had

done they wanted so much to celebrate

his ENT entry they they realized

something was different and so they took

their cloaks they put them on the ground

palm branches they put

down all just to worship him to say you

are the

Messiah and so way to go celebrating

together wasn't that

now is it time to come to the Lord's

table uh before we do that I want to let

you know just so you are aware of how uh

we try to do this uh when you come

forward to partake make sure that this

side comes in through the uh interior

aisles and when you're done come out

through the outer aisles to give room

for those that are still coming and then

this side of the same through the the

inside and then you come out through

through the outside that way it helps us

out with traffic

right and also when you come forward we

dip the gluten-free cracker in the juice

and then you can eat

it would uh the communion helpers please

forward I was encouraged by the holy

spirit for obvious reasons this morning

uh but one of the things that really uh

touched my heart was that first song I

think I've heard it before but I never

really paid attention and there's a part

where it says something and I'm not

going to sing it cuz if I sing then

you'll need a miracle right but um but

it says something around um for single

moms may your kingdom come right

something like that and I was raised by

a single mom and a praying single mom

and she might have not have had a

husband but she had the husband the Lord

Jesus right and um and she always prayed

that her only son would be a minister of

the gospel and here we are Hallelujah uh

serving communion so I want to say

before he clap so he could clap good um

I want to say that single moms the Lord

is with you mighty warrior amen amen you

can clap now give give it to the

Lord so Jesus invites us to partake of

his divine nature at the table in

community with the Father the spirit the

Nations Through the

Ages First Corinth 1

Corinthians says the Lord Jesus on the

night he was betrayed he took bread and

when he had given

thanks he broke it and said this is my

body and that that's an important part

because for Generations they have done

this but not like this one night not

like that one day where a new day was

offered giving thanks he broke it and he

said this is my body which is for you

very personal right for you do this in

remembrance of

me and in the same way after supper he

took the cup saying this cup is the New

Covenant the new day the age of the

Kingdom in other words in my blood do

this whenever you drink in remembrance

of me verse 26 says for whenever you eat

his bread and drink this cup you

proclaim the Lord's death until he comes

can you say that word with me until

this this is key right here because it's

the kingdom aspect of it the kingdom

here and not yet and as the Church of

Jesus Christ and by the power of the

spirit we grab until that until tension

where the power of the spirit is present

when Christ already died was buried was

raised on the third day and now we

partake of what he has done for us amen

amen let me pray With You Come Holy

Spirit and overshadow these elements so

we can participate in your Redemptive

work for us may we find Mercy healing

and salvation through the finished work

of Calvary amen you may come

just really enjoying the sweet presence

of the Lord

ah thank you Father you're just so good

to

us uh this is the time in our service

when we continue to experience a

connection with Jesus by praying The

Lord's Prayer the words are going to be

in Spanish and English uh up on the

screen but feel free to pray the Lord's

Prayer in any language that suits your

fancy pray with me

please Our Father who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come

thy will be done on Earth as it is in

heaven give us this day our daily bread

and forgive us our trespasses as we

forgive those who trespass against us

and lead us not into temptation but

Deliver Us from Evil for thine is the

kingdom and the power power and the

glory forever and ever

Friday and we're having a good Friday

service at 1:00 at 261 Broadway which is

just south of here uh several blocks and

um 1:00

um everyone is invited to our Good

Friday service and then next Sunday is

Easter Sunday and we're having two

Services uh one at 10:00 which will be

our regular kind of service then we'll

have an intermission with an egg hunt

and um at uh

noon um they have ordered a lot of eggs

let me tell you and they have stuff in

them so it's fun uh and then at noon

we're having a bilingual Service uh so

everyone is invited to all

festivities um on

Easter now I want to mention briefly two

other things April 7th is going to be

baptisms if you are interested in being

baptized or re-baptized please see John

um also on April 14th just a heads up

we're going to have have prayer training

so any of you who are interested in that

uh you'll hear more about that in

succeeding weeks so let's um I want to

them I just let's wait for just a second

okay sometimes God does more when when

we just

wait

I was going to ask Jake to come and give

his testimony this morning but I want to

wait on that Jake because I I I feel

like God might be doing something else

just right now and I want to give you

the time that you need for your story um

Jake's got a powerful testimony of

healing and I want you to hear just what

God

did how he did

it

but I also just want to

wait there's a whole team of people

praying for you this morning

already and

uh I want to celebrate who God is

already touching this morning hoping

that uh there's healing already

happening uh someone who's suffering as

a

victim someone with

headaches someone with neck and jaw

issues hea can you turn down my gain

just a little bit there's still a little

bit of Shadow echoing in the background

of my voice it's a little distracting to

me someone uh needs to hear for all who

are weary come and

drink for somebody be assured that what

God called you to do will be

sufficient for somebody draw your

Assurance selfworth worth and capacity

from

him so there are some physical things

that God wants heal this morning but

some of them are very emotional and uh I

don't know about you but unless I'm very

very intentional I don't take a lot of

time in just silence before the Lord

that's something I'm trying to practice

and so with these words here I I want to

have a moment of just waiting on the

Lord and so we're just going to wait so

come Holy Spirit in the midst of these

words and speak and heal and we're just

going to

wait

what I appreciate is that sometimes the

Lord just wants to encourage

us one of the most powerful ways that

God uh reaches me is just by speaking to

me

especially when I'm

anxious and often times I don't let

them I've got lots of things that

distract

me and I just do them

instead anybody

else there's so many things we can do to

distract us I mean there's always

something to do isn't there

right and sometimes God just comes to us

and says hey I'm all you need to know

be

encouraged I've got

you oftentimes it's the thing is not the

thing a lot of people have come here

this morning with physical needs with

emotional needs with spiritual needs and

you wanted this time and this place to

be that moment where God just gets

you and so you can leave all

better

you're not alone

today Palm

Sunday was the day when Jerusalem said

finally we're not going to have to

suffer

anymore isn't it good that that

happened I say that sarcastically

because it

didn't so I'm going to read read through

this story this morning of Jesus coming

into Jerusalem he's coming after having

done lots and lots of Miracles so the

thing is not the thing Jesus does

Miracles he does physical Miracles he

does Deliverance he delivers people from

demons he gives people spiritual gifts

to be a part of his kingdom

work but it's just to be with us you see

the kingdom of

God is not the thing that's done in us

the kingdom of God is Jesus

himself the kingdom of God is Jesus and

where he is is his Rule and his

Reign the kingdom is not a thing the

kingdom is relationship with

Jesus and so as we read the story this

morning I want you to see the

distinction that Jesus is

making between what people want to

happen

as the sign of the

kingdom and the kingdom itself in their

presence so let's read from

Matthew as Jesus and the disciples

approached Jerusalem they came to the

town of Beth Page on the Mount of

Olives Jesus sent two of them ahead he

said go into the village there he said

as soon as you enter it you'll see a

donkey tied there with its Colt beside

it untie them bring them to me if

anybody asks what you're doing just say

the Lord needs them and he will

immediately let you take them well

that's a power encounter don't you think

have you ever gone up to your neighbor

and said that car the Lord needs

them and you take it like surely this

man is of the Lord that's what the

theaction was I'm

sure so in that moment we see the

authority of the Kingdom at

work and as the disciples and as Matthew

is giving you this articulation this

story is in every single one of the

gospels Matthew Mark Luke and John Mass

Matthew is telling a story he's making

sure that you see this word the

Lord the Lord is a relational word

yes sometimes in Christianity we kind of

pass it around as the Lord the Lord the

Lord the Lord the Lord I want you to see

the Lord and I want you to picture the

Lord

as a

king and so as they say the Lord needs

them they are saying the kingdom of God

is taking authority over everything

right

now I even got an amen from the baby

that

was

yeah for Matthew this is a deliberate

symbolic claim of being the

Messiah the Savior the one who rescues

everyone but it's not

rescue as they thought let's continue in

Matthew this took place to fulfill the

prophecy that said tell the people of

Jerusalem look your king is coming to

you and if you're a person in slavery if

you're in Jerusalem as a Jew under the

rule and reign of Rome when you are

hearing and seeing the Fulfillment of

Prophecy that says your king is coming

to you you're looking for a blood bath

that'll take those Romans

out I want to be free from this

oppression I don't want to pay taxes

anymore I don't want my religion to be

oppressed

anymore and

Jesus turns the T

tables on what it means to be king and

Lord for the prophecy says he is

humble he is

humble riding on a

donkey so Jesus Does does not ride in in

a

Cadillac he does not ride in in an

armored car he does not ride in on a war

horse he rides in on a

donkey silly

Jesus doesn't he know what he's

doing we need to take out the

Romans ain't no donkey going to take out

the

Romans where's your horse

the two disciples did as Jesus commanded

they brought the donkey and the Colt

threw uh to him threw their garments

over the cult he sat on it most of the

crowd and this is a crowd that has been

following him curious because they see

the signs of the

Kingdom wondering what happens when the

man who does the sign to the kingdom

enters into

Jerusalem they're following him they're

curious maybe a little anxious maybe

they just want to get in on his

coattails but notice he has no

coattails others cut branches like palm

branches from the trees spread them out

on the road Jesus was in the center of

the procession

have you ever been in a city where your

team

won I'm from Boston and that happens a

lot San Antonio I'm so sad

because wemi was supposed to be our

savior wasn't

he I was there I was there when wemi

came in on his private

plane and I didn't know what was going

on it was just my way home I was not

there intentionally I'm not that big of

a fan but as I'm driving by the airport

on my way

home I get stopped there are police

there are crowds there are people with

signs was anybody there were you there I

was

there by

accident and along this fence fence line

of the private airport people are

crowding the streets and it was a 100

135 degrees that day and it didn't

matter they were out there so excited

anticipating wem's

arrival and wemi didn't come for another

hour and I didn't

wait but they

did can you imagine wanting anticipating

to be there in the crowd of the savior

of the spur

and wemi didn't save us did

he not even the playoffs

huh maybe next

year they were there in the crowd they

were excited they were looking for a win

do you get what I'm

saying people all around him Shou go

Spurs go go no they weren't praise God

for the son of David blessings on the

one who comes in the name of the Lord

praise God in the highest Heaven they're

quoting

Psalms

hosana I mean the honestly the closest

thing that I can imagine to this is

being at a Spurs game have you raise

your hand if you've been through a Spurs

game if you have not been through a

Spurs game you're missing out just on

the

food it's pretty good food it's

expensive and the crowd it's not as good

as like a soccer crowd

internationally we have no idea what

cheering is if you've not done

that Argentina is crazy in the most

beautiful way they know how to worship

let me tell you it's not

Jesus they're saying Jose

go Spurs go I mean that's the closest

thing we

have because they're so

excited for their Messiah to save the

day you get what I'm saying do we have

the picture

yes stop talking about the Spurs

okay the entire city of Jerusalem was in

an UPR

Roar as he entered who is this they

asked and the crowds replied it's Jesus

the prophet from Nazareth in

Galilee so what if the Spurs don't

win here's the difference as Jesus is

coming into Jerusalem as Jesus is the

king of the Kingdom as he is Lord as

he's taking authority over the donkeys

as he has a crowd around him what do you

expect they think of

him that he would save the day he would

take care of them he'd make everything

wrong

right I am so tempted to live out Faith

this way uh this past Saturday we had a

beautiful training on evangelism how to

share the gospel with strangers and I

realized how much tension I had with it

the training was fine and I think

everybody should be trained in

evangelism in every sort of way and I

realized that I'm the I'm the grape and

the fruit salad of

evangelism and that was a different

fruit and it was a good fruit but for

me the sense that I have around what it

means to follow Jesus and share the

gospel is all about relationship you

know why because Jesus is all about

relationship so when Jesus comes in to

this moment he's not looking for a

transaction to happen me up Romans down

sad people not sad sad people happy

everybody clapping we won that's a

transaction you can't have a

relationship with wemi I'm sorry you

can't have a relationship with the Spurs

here's the difference the king of the

universe the king of the kingdom is

inviting us not to transaction of being

on the winning

team Jesus is in inviting us to

relationship no more

transactions only relationship and so

for all of us looking for a sign of the

Kingdom the Lord's going to give it to

you as long as it leads to your

relationship with

him I I had this conflict because I want

so badly for our church to be a place

that's full of signs and

wonders

and then a good friend reminded me he

saides just like the Transfiguration of

Jesus there was a time when Jesus

revealed himself in like a glowing

amazing way in front of the disciples

and you know what the disciples said

let's stay

here I I want to be just In God's

Presence where I can just be bathing in

his presence and that's I just want to

be there and you know what Jesus said

let's go down the

mountain I'm I'm going over there and if

you want to be in relationship with me

I'll be in the streets with those who

need me other people need the signs of

the Kingdom why do they need the signs

in order to come into relationship with

me the signs of the kingdom are not the

thing that's right Jesus is the thing

and he invites us into relationship with

him forever prise

God and so I'm not surprised that what

happens next after Jesus is celebrated

in the streets he enters the

temple and he began to drive out all the

people buying and selling animals for

sacrifice so to give you historically a

picture here you can't worship God in

the temple unless you buy the sacred

thing that you will kill on behalf of

your sin that you are bringing to get

forgiven

of and the only the the best are

available at the temple only the

cleanest and so in order to get the

experience and relationship with God a

transaction must

happen until Jesus

came and the first thing he did at the

temple he didn't go oh this is great let

me buy a dove and a sheep and a give

those away

he destroyed the system of

transaction he destroyed the system of

transaction so that everyone could come

into relationship do you see what's

going

on driving out all the people buying and

selling animals for sacrifice he knocked

over the tables of money changers and

the chairs of those selling

doves he said to them the scriptures

declare my temple will be called a house

of

relationship

prayer is my house called a place where

you come and you give your thing and God

gives you one thing in exchange no God

is too big for us to do any transaction

with him except for the one he's done

for us through Jesus we have nothing to

offer he offers himself for us there is

no other other transaction that's

worthy he's saying my house is a prayer

is a house where people come and they

are just with me he has been hungering

forever since the garden that we would

just be with

him but you've turned it into a den of

Thieves that theve word is Also

regarding those that that were ready to

get up arms to fight Rome off

braggards you've turned this place into

a place that's trying to do it by force

that thinks you can bring the

kingdom with some tool or

Ploy the Blind and the lame came to him

in the temple and what did he do he

healed

them did they need healing yes is

healing the thing no you know what is

the thing relationship with

Jesus healing is a

sign of the Kingdom healing is not the

kingdom prayers being answered is a sign

of the

Kingdom Jesus is the

kingdom

so I don't participate in

church to get the

kingdom I don't tithe to get the kingdom

I don't go to small group to get the

kingdom I do it because I love him and I

just want to be there with him I want to

protest against all the other fomenting

aggravation from the world that's saying

transaction transaction transaction your

life is only worth this if

you I want to fight that I want our

church to fight that I want us to say

world you don't get to tell me that my

worth is based on what I can do or what

I can

sacrifice it's based on the sacrifice

he's already done he just wants to be

with me he just wants to love

me he wants to be in relationship with

me the leading priests and the teachers

of the religious law saw these wonderful

ful Miracles and heard even the children

in the temple shouting praise God for

leaders were indignant and they asked

things the right way then the Messiah

will come back and the transaction will

happen that Rome will be overturned and

we'll get our city

back and Jesus goes in Humble on a

donkey having healed people showing a

Kingdom that God is available to them

even without the temple

Saturday All Is Lost there is no

transaction left to make nobody can

saved by a thing anymore only by him and

where is he he's in the grave except no

risen and through that raising from the

dead he conquers sin all transactions

lost even the transaction of death

doesn't have its meaning anymore it's

been killed death has lost its power its

sting because Jesus is raised from the

dead there's nothing left that matters

just him just him just him

I don't want to go out into the streets

and share the gospel because I'm

supposed to you hear me I don't want to

read my Bible because I'm supposed to I

don't want to tithe because I'm supposed

to I don't want to love my family

because I'm supposed to I don't want to

join a church because I'm supposed to

each one of these things is a protest

work against what the world is telling

me that in order to have worth it must

be done through an

exchange

the work is for the sake of love for my

savior who's done the only worth worth

Worthing he's died for me he's risen

from the dead and now all he wants is

relationship and I'm doing everything I

possibly can to set my heart my mind my

soul and my strength free to that

love the scripture talks about and and a

beautiful author talks about uh what it

means that the old man would be taken

off so that the new one could be sat on

could be rested on us and this author

says the old man does not come off

Behavior we must do

something that step is

obedience it's obedience not for the

sake of Salvation not for the for the

sake of God's love it's of

surrender it's in saying I can't do

anything else my fight in my life and

I've said this over and over again is I

want to feel more secure by how much

money I

have I want to feel powerful in front of

my friends by buying

things and God keeps on asking me do you

trust that I've already done the work

for your soul you don't you don't have

to prove yourself

anymore would you stand with

me would you just take a minute again in

silence Again Come Holy Spirit and if

there's something that's still keeping

you from the kingdom if there's a a way

that you feel like you can be bought if

there's a sense of of power that you

think still proves your worth if there's

something that you're still trying to

prove yourself on if there's an identity

that you still have as greater than

Jesus would you take a moment and just

lay it down and

surrender if there's a fear that you

have if there's a lie that's playing out

Lord Jesus right now I lay it all down

all I want aunt is

Lord Jesus I'm so sorry for the things

that I've done wrong in my life and you

know I've done

them my

insecurity it's

just bigger and deeper than I have even

a sense of control

over

there are some here that need a sign of

the Kingdom you need to know that Jesus

is greater and so I ask right now in the

name of Jesus Holy Spirit would you come

and would you bring your signs and your

wonders here in this room so that PE

people would see that you are

greater Come Holy

your stations ready to receive people I

sense that even more than what was on

the screen people are going to want

for if you've if you feel like there's

been something that's been like you feel

like it's more than just a bad habit you

feel like it's more than just a

behavioral thing you feel like like

God's God's got to deliver you from

something something that's been hanging

on you it feels maybe even spiritual

would you come for prayer this morning I

feel like God wants to do some

Deliverance we're going to lead one more

physical or spiritual need would you

come and see a team and If today was the

first day you

realized I need to follow Jesus with my

whole life I've never done that before

would you have the courage to say this

is my first time I know I've got to

follow him for the rest of my life this
