Lord It's the breath in our lungs Lord

that you pour into us that we get to

you at this time in our service we get

to pause praise reflect celebrate the

Lord's supper or communion

if our communion servers would please

come forward and go to your station so

we can prepare for communion just a

quick bit of instruction for those who

are visiting we come down our interior

aisles here on either side and um and

then we dip the gluten-free cracker in

the grape juice and then walk out on the

exterior aisles um you're welcome to

also take one of the prepackaged

elements we have available for

you this is the time we are invited to

Jesus's t

table we pause and reflect on Jesus's

life his death and his

resurrection Christ is

risen we welcome him into wherever we

are coming from from 1 Corinthians 11

the Apostle Paul writes to followers of

Jesus for I pass on to you what I

received from the Lord himself on the

night when I was he was betrayed the

Lord Jesus took some bread and gave

thanks to God for it then he broke in in

pieces and said this is my body which is

given for you do this in remembrance of

me in the same way he took the cup of

wine after supper saying this cup is a

New Covenant between God and his people

an agreement confirmed with my blood do

this in remembrance of me as often as

you drink it for every time you eat this

bread and drink this cup you are

announcing the Lord's death until he

comes

again Heavenly Father we thank you for

your son Jesus we thank you that you

welcome us to your table as we come may

we receive all that you have for us we

bless this time this cup representing

your blood and the broken bread your

broken body for us as you instructed we

do this in remembrance of you in your

name Jesus we pray come and receive from

the Lord's

when the disciples were spending a lot

of their time with Jesus they asked him

Lord how a father Jesus guy man that

we're following with how do we pray and

so he taught them this simple prayer

it'll be on the screen in English and in

Spanish but feel free to say it whatever

language um you're most comfortable

saying it

in Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed

be thy name thy kingdom come thy will

will be done on Earth as it is in heaven

give us this day our daily bread and

forgive us our trespasses as we forgive

those who trespass against us and lead

us not into temptation but Deliver Us

from Evil for thine is the kingdom and

the power and the glory forever and ever

it out the window to this woman who was

entering the church and scared she was

not prepared she hadn't had her morning

coffee yet she just looked at him like

he was so we um she had to go inside the

church to get her coffee maybe she

hadn't had it

yet but Christ is risen and we're so

thankful that you chose to come and

worship with us to morning my name is

arita Elli and I have a couple of quick

announcements um you all are welcome to

sit um anywhere there are seats I

promise you um all the all the kids now

went upstairs so there's seats around I

promise they they do exist tell people

to move or yeah or people can move in if

you're on the edge you can move in but

we do if you have a baby don't worry

about moving in

you but we're so happy you chose to

worship with us here in person or if

you're online

I do have a couple of quick

bunch of them on the table out in the

lobby this is our gift to you it has

added to our Weekly Newsletter and find

out what's going on in the life of the

church if you give us your mailing

with us this morning we will not spam

you um mostly the mailing address helps

us to know where people in the city are

coming from and so we know you know

maybe we need a small group in that part

of the city uh we want to know where

people are driving and coming from in

the city to uh worship with us on the

back side is something called a uh that

we have a prayer card as well every

Tuesday we have a group of people that

pray for different needs in the life of

our church and you're welcome to fill

that out you can keep it Anonymous if

you want to but they'll pray for any

prayer need you submit you can put that

card in the uh offering basket we'll

pass in a second one other goodie inside

this bag this is our most prized

possession oh yeah she has it she's

ready you're right this is my daughter

this is why she's can talk to me this

way um but the Mana bag is our gift to

you for you to give to somebody else so

often times we're driving about the city

and we encounter someone while we're at

a traffic light who needs who is in need

of some food or some money and we often

don't carry cash with us anymore or at

least I don't and we want to still bless

somebody in a practical way and so

there's some basic um food items in here

water socks some snacks something at

least they can have a little bit of

sustenance for a little bit of time so

it's a way we can extend God's love to

our neighbors here in the city so that's

our gift to you we do also have just the

plain Mana bags out on the welcome table

as well and then we just have a few

quick announcements so if you are a

parent with children we are going to

have an Easter egg hunt in between the

we were having a second service at noon

a bilingual service and in between we're

going to have an egg hunt out there and

so all the kids so if you have a kid

upstairs go grab them right as soon as

the service is over and meet at these

doors and then our kids directors will

give instructions but the little kids

will be on the patio and the older kids

will get to run through the yard and

find their eggs it is all fenced in just

so you

know um and then just a few other quick

announcements that would be in your

regular Weekly Newsletter you can sit

down now was okay thank you we do have

small groups that do meet throughout the

whole city we have new Flyers out on the

table but you can also go to small

group. mission.org to find a group um we

have some that meet online some that

meet in person some that meet once a

month and so forth but we would love for

you to join a small group it's a great

way to kind of get to know people better

have an opportunity to uh give and

receive

prayer and then lastly we have on the

table out in the lobby our new sermon

series next week doing life well and on

the back are all the different things

that are happening in the life of the

church over the next two months parents

night out baptisms some exciting things

are going on so feel free to grab one of

this week so I'm going to ask the people

that are passing the offering baskets to

lived and died and rose

again so Lord everything that we have

wife she doesn't do announcements every

Sunday but uh I like when she does cuz I

like her a

lot and uh that's

okay happy Easter happy Easter isn't

this

fun getting all dressed up all yall

dolled up wearing dresses you don't know

typically dress and guys your shirts you

don't dress like that normally some of

you are like whatever I I didn't change

at all I'm just me and God bless you uh

I this is what a great day it's the day

God's made for us to be able to

celebrate all that he's done for some

you know you may be coming here and

going you know I know that there's a

thing called Easter but I really don't

know why it's important and you know

what if I do know it's important I

really don't

care and the truth is today guys we're

celebrating the most important day in

all of

history it's the most important day in

all of history God created the

world and sin entered in and ruined

everything we were separated from God

and in our

separation we began to feel what you

feel when you're separated from God

which is something's not

right this is not the way it's supposed

to be every time you wake up and as I'm

getting older God bless you know every

time you wake up and you feel that kind

of you know God this is not the way it's

supposed to be I'm supposed to feel more

rested or less sore or some of you who

are like in your 20s and 30s you're like

oh no not me that's right not you

you work out more than I

do but this is not the way it's supposed

to be this is a beautiful day but sin

entered the world but then God had a

plan he said they can't judge amongst

themselves the world is full of sin I'll

go and die for

them sin entered their lives Generations

after Generations after generations and

some of you are coming this morning

I mean it's like a miracle that you came

because it took so much to step away

from the old family systems of to be

like I need something and I know God's

the only one who has

it and so you're here and you're here in

Hope and this is the place you should be

because right in the middle of sin God

sent his son to die for us to take on

our sin and not just the sins that we've

committed but the sins that have been

sinned against

you we're not able to

forgive except for what God has done for

us we're not able to receive forgiveness

except for what God's done for us so he

sent his son to die for our sins took on

all of our sins and then he said it's

not just enough that I die I'm going to

conquer

death and so on the third day Jesus rose

from the grave and was revealed to

everyone it's not just the Bible that

reveals that this is what happened

historians of the day reveal oh yeah

there is this guy Jesus and everybody

saw him after he died like it was a very

public

crucifixion but then he was seen in

person afterwards it was

crazy but it's true it's absolutely true

this is the most significant event in

all of human history

it's the resurrection of Jesus Christ

that we celebrate today and so what

we're going to do is read a scripture I

want you to hear some of the testimony

that's written about what exactly

happened I want you to enter into it

with me I'm going to show it to you as

if like I'm somebody at the art museum

showing you a

painting we're going to see the

resurrection of Jesus

together and then my hope is that as we

hear this story that you'll be able to

enter in

personally and here's what I mean there

are some of you here who you're not

quite sure about this Jesus guy you say

his name sometimes when you hurt

yourself nobody laughed at

that but other than that we have some

confessions going up it's all

right but other than that it does he's

not really relevant in your life I want

to I want today to be an opportunity

where you get to say

okay I I give up I Surrender I do

believe because Jesus said if you

believe in me all who believe in me

Jesus said will live and never die you

get the same eternal life that Jesus has

and that's not just an eternal life that

you know we become Angels or something

in the future that's not what happens

it's that our lives right now get filled

with the Holy Spirit and we're empowered

to a completely different life I trans

formed

life and I want to talk about that a

little bit today so before I even read

the scripture I'm just going to ask Lord

Jesus I thank you so much for this day

and I thank you

that in one day in history you chose you

could have done it another way but you

chose to enter in and change things for

the

better and change things forever and so

I ask Lord this morning as uh God we

just enter into your scripture that we

would hear from it

that we would hear from

you that we would receive your love and

hear your voice through it I ask in

Jesus name

amen all right so at this point in the

story we're going to read in the Book of

Luke at this point in the story Jesus

has died it was a very public execution

on a cross they buried him again

publicly and there were some very

prominent officials involved in his

burial and they closed the tomb and

sealed

it so that nobody would be able ble to

unal it without laws being broken and

all the officials knowing what was going

on so that was Friday then they had

Saturday Saturday was this time and

period where there's a lot of

hopelessness many trusted in Jesus to do

some violent things to the Romans if he

was going to be the Messiah if he was

going to be the Savior if he was going

to save the Jews he would have to do it

through violence many believed and so

when he died on a cross there was this

huge tension some even committed suicide

over

it and so then that Saturday everybody's

in this turmoil like wait a second I

thought he was going to show up the way

he was supposed to show up the way I

wanted him to show up and he didn't but

here we are in Luke 24 on Sunday morning

and something different happens so very

early on Sunday morning the women women

say whoop whoop no not strong enough

that's

okay very early on Sunday morning the

women went to the tomb

taking the spices they had

prepared they found that the stone that

sealed Stone I was just talking about

the stone had been rolled away from the

entrance of the

Tomb can we can we sit there for just a

second if you went to a

cemetery and you see Graves and you

visited one day maybe it's Memorial Day

you wanted to visit veterans Graves I

you notice that all of them were

open what would you do yeah you'd freak

out yeah you freak out so if we can

enter into the Easter Story step

one freak out good we we're all there

fantastic they found the stone had been

rolled away from the

entrance yeah you're freaked out good so

they went

in

I'm not doing

that but they did if you can imagine

though maybe like there's like this cave

and like we like looking through cave

there was this have you ever seen these

YouTube videos of these people going

into like spelunking you know what

spelunking is and they go through these

small small crevices in order to dig

into caves and sometimes they get stuck

that's not

good side note but you feel the

discomfort of going into a cave now

don't you you're welcome so they they

they found that the Sodom had rolled

away from the entrance so they went in

but they didn't find the body of the

Lord

Jesus wow as they stood there puzzled of

course they were right freaked out

puzzled is probably if you translate

that in the Greek and the Latin the

Hebrew Aramaic all the languages they

were there freaked

out two men suddenly appeared to them

clothed in in dazzling robes like

Easter you didn't laugh at that either

the women were terrified there we go

freaked out and bowed with their faces

to the ground then the men asked why are

you looking among the dead for someone

who is alive so we have the first

testimony men in amazing robes clothed

very very well we know they're angels

from some other testimony and they're

saying Jesus is not here and they are

declaring to the women women go whoop

There we

go he

is

alive the first

testimony Jesus is not here his dead

body is not here the one you wrapped him

up in the the the all the process you

went through with the fragrances and all

the things and you sealed the tomb his

dead body he him himself is not here and

they don't say that someone gave him you

know some some pressures on his chest

and breathed into him and he woke up

that's not what happened some doctors in

here you know like I didn't explain that

very

well Jesus was raised from the

dead he was dead he was wrapped in

burial clothes

he was inomed in whatever way you do

that back

then and the angels

say why are you looking

here why are you expecting him to be

dead he's Jesus your Messiah your savior

he's the one that came into this fallen

and sinful world to transform the world

didn't he tell you he was going to do

this he is alive which means guess what

the kingdom of God Jesus as king ruling

and reigning over all creation all of a

sudden it's

begun he is

alive look at this Luke 24:6 he isn't

Luke 24:6

here he's risen from the dead I what I

want you to see here is that death the

whole existence of death the whole

concept of death Jesus rose

from he's not just risen from a state of

death he's risen from Death itself as a

concept he broke it death was

functioning ever since sin came into the

world and when Jesus came he broke

it he broke death death has no power

over him anymore he isn't here he's

risen from the

dead and of course the angel say

remember what he told you back in

Galilee that the son of man must be

betrayed into the hands of sinful men

and be crucified and that he would rise

again on the third

day then they remember

bir oh yeah he did is that what this

is so in there freaked is you would be

freaked out as well right still in

different way maybe you get it

wait all of it's coming yes Jesus is

Alive he did talk about this so they

rushed back from the tomb to tell his 11

disciples and everyone else what had

happened ain't that

awesome have you ever experienced

anything like that I mean obviously not

going to Graves and you know them being

emptied and Angels talking to you but

have you ever been in a moment where you

had lost all

hope and in the middle of it Jesus he

appeared and he said hey that power is

broken and did you were you ever so

excited that you wanted to tell tell

everybody that happened to me once and

once was a time in my life where I was

sad uh lying in bed in a dark room

really afraid really frustrated really

wanting God to do something in my life I

was absolutely

hopeless I knew that if God didn't do

anything

that my my life was

ruined and as I was lying there I

started yelling at God God where are

you God please stop this God please end

this God where are you where are you

where are you and in the midst of that I

just felt this presence come on me and

say John I am all you need to

know see Jesus is Alive and so if he's

alive guess what he can speak into he

can enter into all of our places of

hopelessness and when he speaks guess

what comes with his

voice

life where we saw death and hopelessness

where we see it in our lives Jesus sees

hope because he doesn't need you to be

strong he doesn't need you to be sinless

he doesn't need you to conquer over your

sin because he's already done

it and so the invitation isn't boy you

better get things right

I know you came to Easter you better

come next

Sunday better start doing good better

say your prayers every morning the

invitation is to welcome

him we don't get to change death to life

on our own we don't get to change

hopelessness to Hope on our own if we

could we would have already done

it the invitation is that Jesus has come

and he says just welcome me in

just welcome me

in the women in their pain and their

confusion they searched for

Jesus and they said where is his body

they were so

confused and often in our own struggles

our own

hopelessness it prevents us from seeing

the reality of God the reality that

Jesus has risen from the dead the

reality that eternal life is available

to us if we just

believe at the end of this time I've

just got a couple more minutes I want to

tell you I want to give you an

invitation today we're not there yet but

would you prepare your hearts for some

of you who maybe it's been a long time

since you've said yes to Jesus maybe

it's been a long time since you've

welcomed him in I'm going to give you an

opportunity to do that

today

Jesus describes this in a different way

this is John 12:

24 he says I tell you the

truth unless a kernel of wheat is

planted in the soil and dies it remains

alone but its death will produ produce

many more new kernels a plentiful

Harvest of new lives those who love

their life in the world will lose it

those who care nothing for their life in

this world will keep it for eternity

this is why I love what the women do

afterwards they don't

go what do we

do they go everybody's got to

know and because they did and there's

some fun stories in the Book of John you

can read where like there's races to the

grave and it just so happens that the

writer of the Gospel wins it's just

funny but where we are is this place of

complete change in transformation

because Jesus has risen from the dead

and so what do they do they take the

seed that God has given them in the

midst of their hopelessness and Jesus

gives them hope they don't just go oh

don't you feel

better they go everybody's got to know

this we've got to tell everybody because

if it's true that because Jesus has

risen from the dead all of my

hopelessness can be transformed into

hope

everybody's got to

know and at that point it was probably

at a risk of their lives if they tell

the wrong person I mean that seal was

broken on that

tomb that was

bad they could have been blamed for it

they're women and so quite powerless in

this point of

History they said everybody's got to

know and so they

went this is the promise that Jesus is

telling you he's saying I tell you the

truth unless a kernel of wheat is

planted in the soil and dies until we

come to the point where we recognize

that our hopelessness needs

transformation that can only be given by

Jesus unless we say Lord Jesus I know

you raised from the dead I want you to

be raised from the dead in me I want my

life to be raised with

yours I want to be associated with you I

want I believe in you God that you are

the only one that can forgive my sin

forgive the sins of anybody that sinned

against me and give me hope you're the

only one I believe

it unless that's done new life is not

going to come from our

lives I know there's gener people you

care about I know if you're here you

care about others there are other people

in your life that you desperately want

to give life to

them if you really want to give life to

them give your life to

Jesus when you give your life to Jesus

you welcome him in to transform all that

cynicism all the hopelessness all the

places where you wish you could be

different otherwise all we're

multiplying is our

striving and I know what that feels like

and it's

horrible where you wake up and you're

like well I guess I got to try harder

today or I guess that's got to change

and it doesn't sound bad it sounds

gross but when we welcome Jesus we wake

up and go Come Holy

Spirit I'm all yours and you do with

what you do with me what you want I'm

all

yours I belong to you my life has value

because of you I don't have to strive

anymore you show me what to do today you

give me your life today I don't need to

drive it up and up in myself at all it's

just all you

Lord unless we go to the Grave unless we

take our lives and we say I give up I

give up trying to strive I give up

trying to do

better unless that dies Jesus says give

up your life those who love their life

in this world you want to keep on

striving go for it but you're going to

lose it and everybody around you is

going to lose it

too but those who care nothing in this

life for this world will keep it for

eternity if you're willing to give it up

and say Lord Jesus I give my life to you

all of a sudden that new life and that

hope starts spreading around you

workplaces begin to change schools begin

to change families begin to change

because the systems aren't built on

themselves anymore they're built on a

hope that comes from the power of

eternal life from Jesus who broke death

and raised from the dead you hear

me someone whose life was transformed in

the Bible his name is Paul his name was

Saul and God changes his whole name to

Paul he says this in his letter to the

Romans he says so you must consider

yourselves dead to sin and alive to God

in Christ consider yourself dead to it

give up so that Jesus can enter in and

give you

hope so today we're grateful to remember

and celebrate the resurrection of our

Lord Jesus Christ and I hope that it's

not just this truth that transforms us

but it's actually him that transforms us

sometimes we keep ourselves at a

distance and we go that's a great

religion that I need to follow please

don't do

that invite Jesus the resurrected Jesus

into your life

believe that he's

alive this Easter Sunday we find

ourselves face to face with the

resurrected Jesus and so would you just

pause for a

second and let him just see you would

you see him in your mind's

eye the truth is Jesus was not just a

leader who died like any other leader he

wasn't just a prophet that died like any

other

Prophet but his resurrection

distinguishes him as the Son of God the

Messiah and the savior of the

world his death on the cross was payment

for our sins and his resurrection offers

us the guarantee of eternal life in

communion with him Jesus says I am the

resurrection I am the life he who

believes in me will live even if he

dies this is the promise offered to us

today it's Abundant Life it's hopeful

life in Christ even in the midst of

hopelessness and so are you willing to

receive

this are you really willing to receive

this promise for your life are you ready

to accept Jesus's sacrifice as

forgiveness for your sins and live a

resurrected hopeful life because he

lives we can face tomorrow with hope and

security and so I pray that right now

that he would come that he would face

you you would face him arms open wide

all the walls put

down that he would penetrate our hearts

and compel us to live a life full of his

love his holy spirit his grace as Our

Risen Savior would you stand with me

please I shared just a little bit of my

story today

and it's possible that some of you have

a similar story like that and I just say

He Is Risen isn't

he he's risen indeed if you have a story

like that he's risen indeed isn't he

that he came into your hope hopeless

life and he gave you hope didn't he he

filled you with his holy spirit to lead

you in a life of eternal life it doesn't

mean that all the problems are over does

it but it means that he's there with us

doesn't it there's some of you that have

that story there some of you that you

need that story and you may even be

craving it this

morning so prayer teams we we've got a

couple prayer teams and I've asked them

to come on the side this morning by

these

tables and these prayer teams are here

for you to receive you and not give you

advice we don't do that here because we

believe that Jesus is Alive we don't

have to rile something up and convince

you or get you over excited in order for

religion to happen we don't need that

here because we believe he's alive the

holy spirit is here and he's going to do

everything that's necessary and we just

come alongside and if you let us just

put a hand on your shoulder and say Come

Holy Spirit Come Lord Jesus there was a

whole team of people praying before the

service for you and they've got some

words and I have to say sometimes

they're

weird and all we're doing is trying to

say Lord what are you saying who do you

want to reach who do you want to speak

to who do you want to heal and so my

prayers is that there's some of you here

that would respond to these

words and come to our prayer team the

worship team is going to come up

there'll be time where you can just come

forward and receive prayer specifically

someone who's not able to quiet

themselves and you know what that

means specifically someone with your

scalp you've got a problem with your

scalp someone specifically you need

healing for bunions on the feet see this

is what I love it feels weird to say

bunions in public doesn't

it but this is how much Jesus actually

relevantly cares for us do you get it

he's not afraid to go I even care about

your

bunions you know what I mean this is the

living Christ it's weird but let's roll

with it and somebody fear of the future

you got fear in the future beyond

that I would love for people to come

forward today who want that story of

hope when you recognize you have not yet

received

Jesus

you know there's hopelessness

but for some reason you've just kept on

trying to strive to make it better and

Jesus is saying would you just let me

take control I almost said take the

wheel so I'm going to ask for some

courage today and if you don't have the

courage get some courage from somebody

next to you and squeeze their hand as

you have some courage if it's time if

you say I want to receive Jesus of my

Lord I want to believe in him I don't

even know if I know how to believe in

him but I want to because I need his

hope I need his resurrection life I need

his holy spirit in me would you raise

your hand with some courage it takes a

lot of Courage we don't do this secretly

we do it I see one keep can you just

keep your hand up for a second there's a

couple of you I know there's three of

you it's it's time to receive his life

and hope the music is not to manipulate

you it's just

not sometimes we just say hey would you

just cut off the music we don't need it

but your courage is important today if

you would say I know it's time did you

just say yes to

Jesus just say

yes Come Holy

Spirit we need your hope we believe that

you raised from the dead God forgive us

for our sins forgive the sins against

us we want you to lead Lord and give us

hope in our life we ask in Jesus

name so I'm going to ask as these guys

lead this last song that those of you

maybe God didn't read your mail and you

just have another emotional physical or

spiritual need this morning that's what

these teams are here for so take

advantage of them this is the day to

receive from God this is his

resurrection day that we're celebrating

he is risen from the dead he's risen

from the dead He's Alive and his power

is real and it's for us today so come

and receive as we worship okay just get

a line going and there'll be more teams

that surround you if you need help just

start a line in this in these uh aisles

hope desperately we need your love

desperately fill us with your Holy

Spirit fill us with your Holy

New Journey for you where you say I need

his hope I want to follow with him I

want to follow Jesus I want him to

forgive me of all my sins I want a new

life come forward today receive prayer

come to the front if there's somebody

there just get in line it's

okay but for the rest of you and and

especially those that are really you're

here for the egg hunt I mean adults you

don't don't tackle those children don't

you dare I I know that some of us you're

ready to go and and I want you to have a

great great Resurrection Day and so

would you receive this blessing receive

this blessing today would you in the

name of the father and the Son and the

Holy Spirit that you would go out filled

with the Resurrection Life of

Jesus receiving him and all of the hope

that he has for your life be filled with

the Holy SP Spirit going out with the

truth that he is alive he is risen from

the dead that the world would receive

his hope I bless you in Jesus name he is
