Welcome to the Legacy Churches Podcast. We are so glad that you get you
-
win us today. We pray that God speaks to you through his message and
-
through his work. Now let's tune into the message. Laban said to him,
-
just because you are a relative of mine, should you work for me
-
for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be. Now, Laban had
-
two daughters. The name of the older was Leah, and the name of
-
the younger was Rachel. Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel had a lovely
-
figure and was beautiful. Jacob put in love with Rachel and said, I
-
worked seven years in return for your younger daughter. Rachel. Lavin said,
-
well, we know it's better that I give her to you than to some
-
other man, So stay here with me. So Jacob served seven years to
-
get Rachel, but they seem like only a few days to him because of
-
his love for her. Then Jacob said to Laban, give me my wife.
-
My time is completed. I want to marry her. So brought together
-
all the people of the place and gave a big, big feast. But
-
when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and brought her to Jacob.
-
Jacob mad loved her, and Laban gave gave the servant Zephyr to his daughter
-
as her attendant. When morning came, there was Leah. So Jacob said
-
to Laban, what is this you have done to me? I served you
-
for Rachel, didn't I Why have you deceived me? Lord? Bless your
-
word and Jesus name. Amen, you can be seated living life in a
-
shadow. That's what I want to talk about this morning, about the shadow
-
that Leah actually lived in of Rachel's. Because do you realize that when God
-
created us, he didn't create us to be like somebody else. God didn't
-
create us to look like somebody else, to walk like somebody else. That
-
when he create us, you have your own DNA, You have your own
-
fingerprints, your personality. The Word said he you were We were created in
-
His image. Very unique. Look at your neighbor and say you're so unique.
-
Oh you better look at your other neighbor. I don't know if they
-
believed you or not. Look at your other neighbors, say you're unique.
-
Let me ask you this question. Have you ever been confronted with there was
-
gonna be a promotion at work and you just knew you were gonna get that
-
promotion and it passed you by. Or maybe you were at school growing up,
-
in primary and elementary school in junior high and you wanted to be the
-
teacher's pet. Was there anybody here this morning that was the teacher's pet?
-
Come on, nobody in here was ever? How many would we had?
-
Okay, we got a couple of teachers pets. How many would wanted to
-
be the teacher's pet, wanted to be the favorite? Or maybe it was
-
time for recess time and it was time for that to play softball and they're
-
gonna pick the team, and you stood there tribling in your shoes, going
-
like Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, please don't let me be the last one
-
picked. Anybody was ever the last one pick? You know, you didn't
-
want to be embarrassed, you know you you just pray just kind of like
-
okay, come on, darling, you can be on our team. You're
-
like like, gee, thanks, thanks, thanks, you know, or
-
maybe anybody when you were growing up you had to wear the hand me down
-
clothes because you were not the first born, so you got the hand me
-
down clothes. See back then, when I grow up, if you had
-
holes in your clothes. It meant you were poor. You have your holes
-
in the clothes. Now it means you're rich because it costs to have holes
-
in your clothes. Makes absolutely no sense, does it, my goodness?
-
Or maybe you were were not the favorite child? Am I talking to anybody
-
this morning so far? If you get set down now and have a conversation
-
with Leah, you know what she would understand. She'd go, girl,
-
I know exactly what you're talking about. Bro, I got it. I
-
know I've been there because in this story about Leah, I said she was
-
caught in manipulation and deception between I call it two tricksters between her dad and
-
Jacob. And of course we know the story of Jacob. You know,
-
he stole his brother's birthright. He wanted the blessing of the first born.
-
He wanted to be highly favored, he wanted all the privileges. But it's
-
really unique, if you'll read on in Genesis twenty five twenty three, God
-
had already told Rebecca, and I already promised Rebecca. It said the older
-
shall serve the younger. That Jacob didn't have to do what he did,
-
because God had already promised that he would be blessed because Jacob was destined to
-
be a ruler. But here's what happened. Jacob became impatient. Oh can
-
I give somebody a word this morning? There's much danger in becoming impatient with
-
God's timing. I'm gonna put it like this. Anybody that kind of have
-
a hard time with patience, Well, I feel like I'm told thankful I'm
-
not in the room alone. It's kind of like I'm an organizer. I'm
-
very OCD and I like everything in order, and I like to know how
-
it's going to happen, when it's going to happen, who's going to happen
-
with And when I'm dealing with God, he don't clue me in. He
-
knows how to drive an OCD person bonkers. Anybody there with me, Well,
-
here's what happens. God says, you've been praying for a situation.
-
You've been seeking his will, You've been quoting the word, you've been singing
-
his praises. God takes you, and he prepositions you for favor. So
-
he prepositions you in this position for favor because what he's going to do is
-
he's going to reposition you for favor but for favor to come in your life,
-
he's got to get the right people in the right place at the right
-
time. He's got to have a job opening created in that business for you
-
to get that job. He's got to bring a man in your life that's
-
going to be your mate. But he hasn't got saved yet, so he's
-
got to get to that revival and get saved first. That right car has
-
got to come along, because the thing is a person hadn't traded it in
-
yet to get them a new car. So he puts you over here in
-
this preposition, posician. It tells you to stay here, keep praising me,
-
keep seeking my will, keep giving me thanks while he's putting everything in
-
place. But you get impatient with God. And then you get impatient God
-
because things is. You've been praying for your kids to get saved and they're
-
getting meaner. Okay, You've been praying for your marriage to get better and
-
it's getting worse. You've been praying for favor to come at your job and
-
you get laid off and you thank God. You need some help. You
-
know, it's kind of stupid to say, but hey, many of us
-
think God needs our help Sometimes So what happens is we begin to take things
-
in our own hands and we remove ourself out of that prepositioned position that God
-
has put us in, and we begin to help God with the job,
-
with the marriage, with the children, with a dating situation. And when
-
God gets the right things in position, now he's got the job for you.
-
He's got the mate for you. He's got someone that's going to come
-
in your life that's gonna have bless your kids and they're gonna get saved.
-
So he's got the right people in the right place at the right time.
-
So now he comes where he left you in toime told you to stay on
-
your face before me saying the word stay praising me, have a positive attitude.
-
And because you've removed yourself, you've just missed your blessing. You just
-
missed that promotion, you just permissed that marriage getting better. You just you
-
just miss your kid getting saved through someone because you've done become impatient with God
-
and moved yourself out of that position and you miss favor and then you blame
-
it on God. It's like I prayed to nothing changed, I praised and
-
it got worse. Well, Lord, it is because you became impatient with
-
God. Here's what the scripture says in Galatian sixty nine. And let us
-
not be weary, And you write your name in there, because I wrote,
-
and let Darlene not be weary and well doing. See, he knew
-
that we was gonna get weary. He knew we were gonna get worn out.
-
He knew we were gonna get tired of praying and believing and praying and
-
believing. So he says, so let Darlene not be weary well doing so.
-
He said far in due season. He didn't say tomorrow. He didn't
-
say next Friday. He didn't say by this afternoon. Is in baking what
-
I'm talking about? He just said in due season. Due season could be
-
years from now. I had a friend she paid for her husband to say
-
for thirty years, on his dying bed at the hospital, he gave his
-
heart to the Lord, she said, But God told me not to stop
-
praying. But it says in due season, he says, Darlene shall reap.
-
Okay, that means I'm gonna reap what I've sown. I'm gonna get
-
the favor that I've been praying for. But what is say if I want.
-
So Therefore, he knew you were gonna get faint, He knew you
-
were gonna get weary. He knew that you was gonna get stressed out.
-
He knew that you were gonna get tired. So he says, in due
-
season, you will reap what you've been prayed for. But you can't it
-
weary. You can't look at your circumstance and base your outcome of what surrounds
-
you. First Corinth this one nine and says God is faithful to fulfill his
-
promises. Now, I wish you had just put an exclamation point right there,
-
but he had to go put a calmer there. He's faithful to fill
-
his promises. Now, is what my timing? What do you say?
-
Okay, it's all about him again. Okay, his time and by whose
-
methods? Like God, give me a break? Can it be something my
-
timing like I need it by Friday? Can't it be high? I want
-
this person to come and say this and bring me this. No, no,
-
no, that's not what he said. But he said he is faithful.
-
Someone's faithful means they're going to do what they say they're going to do.
-
He's faithful with his timing and this method. God does have ministry for
-
you. He does have a house for you that you might be praying for,
-
or a car, or even a child. But it's gonna be in
-
his timing. Don't rush God or change his plans that he has for you.
-
Now back to Jacob. Can we find Jacob. He's fearing for his
-
life now he has to leave home, so he runs to his uncle's house
-
by the name of Laban, and he arrives there. As soon as he
-
arrives there, his eyes falls on this most gorgeous, beautiful woman he's ever
-
seen. Now, the word says that she was beautiful and form an appearance.
-
Now, when I think a beautiful, I'm thinking a perfect look at
-
your neighbor and said, there's one of those inside of me. You just
-
can't see it right now. That's what he says. She was beautiful.
-
But then we had Rachel, Rachel's sister Leah. The Bible says she was
-
not pretty. He talks about her eyes. Said she had cowies, she
-
had ugly eyes. You wouldn't want to meet this in a dark alley one
-
night. I think you get the point. She was not attractive. So
-
now we're about to have a wedding because you know, back in those days,
-
you know, on the front of your handout notes, you know,
-
they wore all that garb, so all you saw was the eyes. So
-
that's all he saw of Leah. So now it's a wedding feast. Laban
-
makes this big party. Now I'm sure there was lots of drinking going on.
-
I'm sure he had to get Jacob really drunk to get him to do
-
what he is about to have him do. So they have a big party.
-
So now Laban takes Jacob to the bridle chamber and guess who's waiting for
-
him, Leah. Well here's what happens. The next morning. Leah wakes
-
up thinking, I'm finally gonna have somebody that loves me. I'm finally gonna
-
have somebody that can hold me, somebody that can brag on me or tell
-
me that I'm pretty, that's gonna respect me. And she rolls over.
-
And when she rolls over, she rolls over to an empty bed. Don't
-
you know she must have immediately felt nothing's changed. I'm never gonna be loved,
-
I'm never gonna be respected, I'm never gonna be thought well of.
-
She must immediately begin to feel abandoned, rejected. You's unwanted, undesirable.
-
And what's the what sad about this story is she didn't ask for any of
-
this, She didn't deserve any of this. She was the victim. Get
-
that, some of you are sitting in your seat this morning, and you
-
become the victim of a situation that you had no control over. You had
-
nothing to do about it. You were accused, you were lied about.
-
You were a victim of that situation. And all she wanted was to be
-
loved, to be respected, to be appreciated. Because of living in the
-
shadow of Rachel her whole life, she must have already had low self esteem,
-
probably been timid, had no confidence. But Leah said, but I'm
-
married. I'm going to win his heart over one way or another. She
-
was determined. So don't you imagine when he went to work and he came
-
home, she probably had his favorite meal prepared and would come in. She'd
-
done all the laundry and it was all hanging up. Then she should go
-
out and she'd get the water. She would worship his chariot. Then she'd
-
get that stuff and spray on the spokes to make him really shiny. So
-
when he went to work the next day, he had the best looking chariot
-
on the lot because he was a car salesman of chariots. But nothing changed.
-
So she said, Okay, what can I give him that Rachel can't
-
or hazard? She said, I know, I'll have a baby. That's
-
what I'll do. I'll have a baby. So she gives birth to her
-
first son, and the thing is back then they named children, what was
-
going on in their life the meaning of that, so they named him Ruben.
-
Ruben means look at me, see my afflictions, Jacob. Can you
-
not see my afflictions? Can you? Can you not see how you're acting
-
towards me? How much it grieves and hurts my heart? But nothing changed.
-
So she thought, I'll give birth to a second child. Surely he
-
will love me if I give him two children. She gives birth to Simeon
-
that says to hear to listen to me, Jacob, can you not listen?
-
Can you not hear my heart crying for you just to love me?
-
But nothing changed. She goes, I know I'll give him three children.
-
Surely he will love me and desire me if I give him three children.
-
He gives she gives birth to LEVI I means to be joined to, to
-
be connected to. Surely, if I've given you three children, will be
-
connected at the heart forever. Nothing changed. I don't know what happened between
-
child number three and child number four, but I can only say say she
-
had an encounter with the Lord. And can I tell you when you have
-
an encounter. I'm talking about a holy ghost encounter with the Lord. Things
-
will change in your life. Your attitude will change. The way you go
-
to work will change, the way you talk to people will change, the
-
way you worship will change when you have that true holy ghost experience in your
-
life. I say she had a holy ghost experience in her life between child
-
number three and child number four, because when she gave birth to number four,
-
she named him Judah, which means I will be appraise her. I
-
will praise you now, I will praise the Lord and all of judas is
-
sinenus became known as praisers. Suddenly she became a woman of an agony and
-
sorryful and God, just want somebody to love me, give me attention to
-
something of going like, I don't care what they say about me, I
-
don't care what they do toward me or against me, But I will praise
-
you anyhow. I don't care how the stock market is, I don't care
-
how my finances are, I don't care what's going on at work. I
-
will praise you anyhow, because us God, you are my sorece, not
-
man. I don't care what man says against me. Has actuallyation told me,
-
I will choose to praise you anyhow. That's the experience that she had
-
when she gave birth to Judah. Some things that I read about the tribe
-
of Judah that I think is very interesting is the tribe of Judah is often
-
mentioned separately from other tribes. Can I tell you something, When you start
-
praising Jesus, you'll be separated from your problems. Also, when you start
-
praising him, you're gonna be separated from negative people, because negative people ain't
-
gonna hang around a praiser. One of the few tribes to return to God
-
after captivity, and most of Israel's kings came from the line of Judah.
-
Leah had learned to praise him anyhow. Can you say that with me?
-
Praise him anyhow? Say it again? So when people start ignoring you,
-
what are you gonna do? What promotion passes you by. Your children never
-
call you anymore. You don't have anyone to help you out with the bills.
-
You accused of something that you had nothing to do with. You don't
-
have that hour glass figure, and your body's racked with pain. You have
-
no money for food. You worked your whole life for a company. Now
-
they're downsize you and you get the pink slip. Your friends and family don't
-
understand or have anything to do with you because your relationship with God. Because
-
to see when you pray, and it's important to pray, because God listens
-
to you. But can I tell you something, when you start praising him,
-
he seeks after you. He comes, findes with your He cannot stay
-
away from a praiser. He has to come with you where you are.
-
If you want to walk in favor, if you want to be blessed by
-
God, let me tell you what you become a praiser. Don't just pray,
-
but I'm talking praiser, or you just brag on God. You tell
-
him who he is to you or what he's done for you. You give
-
thanks to him. Because you've got to understand that favor cannot stay away from
-
a praiser, and you got to understand, well, who exactly who am
-
I praising? You understand he's Jehovah God. Can I tell you some things
-
about him? That it's a god. He is the god of the universe.
-
He is the CEO of this earth. Do you realize that wind cannot
-
even blow without his permission? Lightning cannot flash unless he blinks his eyes.
-
Thunder will not roar until he opens his mouth. Floodwaters will not come until
-
he nods his head. That's a Jehovah God that you're praising. Thunder can
-
only roar when he opens his mouth. He releases the rain from the sky.
-
Now when he creates a snowflake, he creates a snowflake. Individual.
-
He said, you did not vote me in, so therefore you cannot vote
-
me out because I am God. He says, you didn't appoint me,
-
so therefore you cannot disappoint me because I am Jehovah God. He says,
-
I am the boss, and says, I am the boss. You cannot
-
fire me. That's the God. I'm saying that you need to just start
-
praising him and bragging on him about My mind goes back to a story that
-
I heard that happened. Back in the nineteen forties, there was a lady
-
by the name of Amy Simple macpherson. Some of you may have heard of
-
her and some may not. She was the founder of the Fourth Square denomination,
-
like the Simons of God, it was four Square. It was founded
-
out in California, in Los Angeles, California. In fact, the Dream
-
Centers out there is now have taken over what was her Bible school and her
-
church out there. But back in the forties, fifties and sixties, they
-
were evangelists that travel around and they set up these big revival tints and there
-
was people like or Roberts and AA Allen, and of course there was Amy
-
Si McPherson. She said that she had set a tent up and it was
-
packed out with several thousand people. She said she stood on the platform.
-
When she stood on the platform, she said, I opened my eyes and
-
when I did, I look looked out at the tent and there were black,
-
hooded demons that had surrounded the tent. She said. My first response
-
was fear griped my heart. But then I said, you have no power
-
over me, Satan, and God spoke to me and said, just start
-
praising me. She said, I closed my eyes and I lifted my hands
-
and I said, God, you are Jehovah. You are the CEO of
-
the universe. And she said I looked up, and when I did,
-
the demons took a step back. She said, I said, you are
-
my Alpha and my Omega. That demons took another step back. She said,
-
you are the beginning and the end. You are my salvation, said,
-
the demons took another step back. She said, I said, God,
-
there's none other God above you. You are the only one. And
-
she said, suddenly I begin to see around the tent white hooded angels that
-
began to take a step forward. And she said, the more I bragged
-
on him, the more I called out his name, She said, the
-
angels took a step forward, until suddenly I looked around and surrounded around all
-
the people were white angelic beings. Can I tell you that's all you need
-
to do. When the devil's come into your mind, he's trying to torment
-
your mind. He's trying to tell you things that's not true about yourself,
-
that it will never happen. You're gonna be defeated, You're never going to
-
get where you want to go. Can I tell you you just begin to
-
brag on God and the Satan has to leave because say, you've got to
-
understand. The reason the enemy wants to get to your mind is because Satan
-
was created as a worshiper in heaven. When he was kicked out, so
-
was worship created that was created was kicked out. But God said, that's
-
okay, I'm gonna find a group of people. I'm gonna find some people
-
in Houston, Texas. I'm gonna find a group of people at Legacy that
-
when they come to church and on Monday and on Tuesday and Wednesday, they're
-
gonna open their mouth and they're gonna praise Me all week long. And said,
-
that's going to replace the worship in heaven that was kicked out with Satan.
-
That's the reason Satan wants to get to your mind. That's the reason
-
Satan wants to steal your praise because he said, if I can steal your
-
praise, then I can remove praise out of heaven. Because Satan understands the
-
power of the words that's in your mouth when you open and praise him.
-
Reminds me of the story that I heard about this little lady. She'd gone
-
to a Bible study. She was so excited about going to Bible study and
-
praying with her friends. She returns home, and when she returns home,
-
she notices that her door is a jar, and she goes, I know
-
I locked this door, but it's open. She walks in, and when
-
she walks in, there's this big, old burly guy, probably three hundred
-
pounds, robbing her. Here's this little ninety pound lady made her so mad.
-
She says, devil, I tell you what this makes me mad.
-
I've been at church, I've been praying, I've been interceding, and while
-
I've been doing that, you sent the devil in to steal my stuff.
-
She looked at that guy. He said, She said to him, acts
-
two thirty eight your sins. Suddenly, that big old burly guy just frozen
-
his tracks and began to shiver all over. She says, buddy, you
-
stay right there. I'm going to call the place. She walks over,
-
gets her phone, calls nine one one, and the plice arrived. He
-
had moved, He's frozen his tracks. The policemen walk in. They look
-
at this little ninety pounds old lady. They looked this big, old,
-
burly guy, and they're thinking this makes absolutely no sense. He could take
-
her out with one hand. Said ma'am, what did you say to this
-
guy? She said, I told him acts two thirty eight repent of your
-
sins. The policeman kind of looked puzzled and walked over and said, uh,
-
sir, all this lady said to you, was she quoted you a
-
scripture? Said no, sir, she didn't. She looked at me and
-
told me she had an axe in two thirty eights. Said if I wasn't
-
about to move, well, can I tell you something? When you get
-
full of the Holy Ghost, he gives you an axe, and two thirty
-
eight is to lose on use on the devil. The devil cannot get to
-
your mind. He can't get to your family because you have a Holy Ghost
-
axe two thirty eighths, and some of you need to start using it and
-
quit using a BB gun or a water pistol and realize you've got an axe
-
and you got through thirty eight to use against the devil. My mind goes
-
back to back where I live, just the town over before I live,
-
the lady that travels with me when I speak there was a tornady that was
-
headed to their city, and her and her children had gone to take them
-
home to their kid's house. They started back and her husband calls her and
-
says, get back to the house because there's a tarnad heading straight to that
-
subdivision. They get back in that house and they can hear it roaring.
-
They all hover in the bathroom. They're all getting in the bathtub, and
-
in the bathroom, said her son begin to say, we're gonna die.
-
We're gonna die. We're God like Mama. I love you, and Honey,
-
I love you, and SISI, I love you. Okay, We're
-
just gonna die together. Everything, And she said, her daughter said,
-
this makes me mad. She said that tornado has no authority over me because
-
I'm full of the holy ghosts and when I speak to that mountain, it
-
has to obey and it has to move. Says. I got up,
-
and she said, I got up. I went to the front door and
-
I swung it open. She said, I saw that that tornado is coming
-
toward me. And I said, you listen to me. You have no
-
power over me. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. The word says
-
for me to speak to my mountain. You have to move now. I
-
command you to move right now. Do you hear me? Move right now?
-
She said, Jehovah, God, I give you praise for the authority
-
you're taking over that tornado. Can I tell you what happened that tornado?
-
It went around their house. Seventy five people were killed in that neighborhood.
-
Not one thing was happened to their house. You gotta realize the power you
-
have inside of you. The devil tries to belittle you and make you think
-
that reminds you of the things that you've done or should have done, to
-
make you feel so little of yourself, Like how could God love me?
-
Because I've disappointed him so many times? But you got to realize the blood
-
worshs it away, and when you get the holy ghosts inside of you,
-
you have a power that's inside of you that there's not a weapon that any
-
devil can throw against you that can prosper. Just like he's talking about the
-
Hebrew children. I don't care what fire the devil tries to throw you in.
-
There's always that third person that's in there with you. Now here's what's
-
interesting about this story. Fact to Jacob, he's on his dying bed,
-
and on his dying bed, here's what he tells his family. Don't bury
-
me in Egypt. He said, I want you to take me back to
-
Canaan, and here's where I want you to bury me. He tells him
-
exactly the tomb in the place he wants to be buried in. Can I
-
tell you who was buried there and who was not buried there? Rachel was
-
not buried there. Leah was buried there. And that's something. All the
-
way up to his death bed, he realized Leah was a God send to
-
me. There was something different about her. And when I die, take
-
me back and buried be where she is. Don't become impatient with God,
-
his timing and his methods. One night, when I went to bed,
-
i'd worked on this message, and I was laying there, it was called,
-
like God, what did Leah say? What did she pray to you?
-
What happened that had that turnaround? That she went from a murmuring,
-
griping, complaining woman to a praiser, a Jehovah God worshiper. And suddenly
-
these thoughts begin to come in my mind. And I got it from got
-
a pencil on paper, and I wrote it down, and I think it's
-
in your notes now. I call it Leah's prayer, says Lord, I
-
thought you gave me Jacob to be my lover, my husband, the father
-
of my children. Little did I know I was designed to bring forth Judah,
-
the lintage of Jesus, the Messiah, the son of God. Lord,
-
forgive me for being selfish and living for myself. For I know now
-
that I was created to worship you. Just think this. She became the
-
great great great grandmother. That's the Messiah. You know, there's gonna be
-
things in your life that happened that's gonna seem unfair. People are gonna treat
-
you unjustly, but understand, get this one word in your spirit. First
-
of all, they will stand before God for their action. I remember when
-
the Lord spoke that to me. My response to him was, God,
-
you go get them, because they're gonna deserve everything you did for them.
-
Y'all probably don't have that attitude I did. I even said, you know
-
that bowl of fire and brimstone on Judgment Day? Can I hold it?
-
Can I dump it on every one of their heads? Because I'm talking about
-
you know, Pastory Church, we have people that love us, and all
-
of sudden, one day they get offended and they're gone, you know,
-
and it hurts you and it breaks your heart and everything. He said,
-
you know what, those people are long gone. They're not even thinking about
-
you. You're still letting them affect you. He said, Are they worth
-
losing your joy over? Nope? Are they worth losing your crown over?
-
Were they? Are they worth losing your soul over? I said no?
-
He said, just remember, they will stand before me for their action,
-
the more important you will stand before me for your reaction to their action.
-
I said, oh God, they are not worth me being judged over.
-
They're not worth me losing my crown over. They're not worth me losing my
-
salvation over. I release them to you. I begin to pray over them
-
for God to bless them, because I realized if they were not walking in
-
His will the prayers I prayed over them, they just gonna come back to
-
me. I want to conclude with this statement. You have been beautiful,
-
rooted, rooted in Him, the CEO of the universe. You were not
-
created to live in the shadow of anyone or anything. Hold your head up
-
high. You are blessed and you are highly favored because you are the child
-
of the most High God. Now I think this is the last thing on
-
your notes that says no longer are you going to allow your past to dictate
-
to your future. You have a paper that's in your insert in your notes
-
once you get it out, it's a picture of a burning bridge. Not
-
conclude with this. Well, you take me a couple of minutes. I've
-
heard the saying about burn the bridges, burn the bridges, and I thought,
-
what does exactly mean? Because somebody I said to you, you just
-
need to burn the bridges, Like, exactly what does burn the bridges mean?
-
Now? I looked it up and it said burning a bridge goes back
-
to the old battle days in earlier times, if an army crossed the bridge
-
and then burned it, anyone following them would be stuck on the other side
-
of the river or the ravine or whatever they crossed. And I thought that
-
is fantastic, and I wrote this down. It's no turning back, says
-
I am moving on, never to come this way again. This is what
-
I'm challenging with you today, that we're going to burn some bridges and there's
-
gonna be no turning back. You're not going back to where you once were.
-
The burn the bridges forces one to plow ahead without any hope of returning
-
this way again. When you burn a bridge, you cannot cross back over
-
it because it's no longer there. I want you to get your paper that
-
has the bridge on it, and if you don't have one, just wave
-
your hands and maybe the ushers can help you, because I want everybody.
-
Here's one on the front row. Just wave your hand. I want you
-
to get your pencil out. You may have to borrow one, you may
-
have to share one. But here's what we're going to do on this bridge.
-
I want you to write. As I was preaching, the Lord began
-
to show you certain shadows in your life. It may go back to childhood
-
that you've never let go. It may be something that happened at work,
-
or it could be with a family member, or it could be just with
-
yourself. You deal with fear, or you deal with anxiety or stress,
-
or maybe you have sickness in your body. I don't know what it is,
-
but the Holy Ghost does, and he's speaking to you right now.
-
I want you to write on this paper the bridge bridge bridges that are you
-
gonna burn today. And here's what I want you to do, my prayer
-
partners. I want to after you've written, if you didn't do it for
-
a service, if you've written yours on there, I want you to come
-
and stand up to the front and here's what we're gonna do. Because not
-
everybody will finish at the same time. That's okay, take as long as
-
you mean. We have the rest of the afternoon. Okay, here's what
-
I want you to do. I want you to take that paper and you've
-
written the bridges that you're gonna burn, and you're gonna bring it up to
-
your prayer partner that's up here. We're not gonna pray long prayers. We're
-
not going to annoy it. All we're gonna do together. You place it
-
in their hands, and together, I want you to say, burn the
-
bridge. Say that with me. Say it again. Okay. I want
-
you to say it like you mean it.
