  3. Welcome to the one Church podcast.

  4. Hello, I'm Tom and welcome to the one Church podcast today.

  5. It's Monday the 6th of February. And yesterday that Sunday, the

  6. fifth we gathered from one church together, and if you were

  7. there, you'll know, it was a precious time for a youngest

  8. child up to our oldest grown up. And if you didn't, you can catch

  9. up with the whole of our 11:30 service on the One Church

  10. YouTube channel. So head there and you could

  11. watch the whole service. But today, if you're out and

  12. about at home, however, you're tuning in, we're so glad you

  13. could join us for the podcast in Romans 8, we read that we can

  14. come to our guard and because we have been brought about to an

  15. adoption to sonship. We can cry Abba, Father, today,

  16. let it sink into your heart and would, you know, again, the

  17. Because of Jesus, by the power of the spirit, every one of us

  18. can come to God. And cry Abba Father and met.

  19. You know the love of God closer and deeper today.

  20. Coming up now is a message from Josh Smith spoken, a Taiwan

  21. church together, Gatherings. It's a message that introduces

  22. the introducing Jesus Series, so be inspired Again by The Wonder,

  23. and the OR at the person of Jesus.

  24. Enjoy. Well, if you don't know me, my

  25. name is Josh, married to Alice. He's my little boy.

  26. Levi is out with kids for the second service in a row.

  27. He came to me at the end of the first service and he said to me,

  28. dalla time to pack down now. So I want to, we got one more

  29. kid, is very excited to pack the drums away.

  30. He's always up for helping and serving in the house.

  31. I don't know whether he's helpful or a nuisance, but the

  32. heart is good and Ezra are little one on the front row.

  33. Six months slept through my message, last time is about to

  34. sleep through it again. Oh, man.

  35. And I get the opportunity and the privilege to open the Bible

  36. with us this afternoon. The last service in this

  37. building, as we know, and it just feels an immense honor to

  38. do so standing on the shoulders of giants and all that kind of

  39. stuff. Thank you, Pastor D, pasta us,

  40. the privilege of allow me to speak.

  41. What an amazing example of leadership.

  42. You guys are empowering us. We're very grateful.

  43. I have the privilege of starting our series that we're going to

  44. continue in our sights next week called in.

  45. Reducing. Jesus.

  46. This morning. We're in John 4.

  47. This is possibly one of my favorite passages in the entire

  48. Bible. Verses 3 through 242.

  49. I'll read the majority of it with you.

  50. We're in the NLT. This is what it says.

  51. So he Jesus left Judea and returned to Galilee.

  52. He had to go through Samaria on the way as I thought when I was

  53. a child. I thought it was some area.

  54. This is a general piece of land. He had to go through Samaria on

  55. the way. Eventually he came to the

  56. Samaritan Village of sychar Jacob's.

  57. Well, was there? And Jesus tired from the long

  58. walks at wearily beside the well around new time soon as

  59. Samaritan woman came to draw water.

  60. And Jesus said to her, please give me a drink.

  61. He was alone at the time because it's disciples had gone to the

  62. Village to buy some food. The woman was surprised for

  63. Jews, refused to have anything to do with Samaritans.

  64. She said to Jesus you're a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman.

  65. Why are you asking me for? Drink Jesus replied.

  66. If you only knew the gift, God has for you and who you're

  67. speaking to you? You would ask me and I would

  68. give you living water, but sir, you don't have a rope or a

  69. bucket. She said, and this well, is very

  70. deep. Where were you get this living

  71. water and besides to you think that your greater than our

  72. ancestor? Jacob, who gave us this?

  73. Well, how can you offer better water than he and his sons and

  74. animals enjoyed? I said this in the first seven,

  75. so I feel it's important to say. Again, I was reading this again

  76. last night as I was do the last bit of prep for this morning and

  77. I've read this passage of the Bible more times than I can

  78. count. And I can count up to at least

  79. eight and I've never been struck with this in the same way that

  80. it was. As, I was reading it last night.

  81. Jacob. After whom the, well, is named

  82. was the man who wrestled with God and out of that, he was

  83. renamed Israel out of him. Israel came the 12 tribes of

  84. which Jesus Jesus, the lion of Judah is now sitting at this

  85. very well and here Jesus. The lion of Judah is sat at the

  86. site of Israel's well, about to open the gates of Living Water

  87. to the Gentiles out of The Well of Israel comes Abundant Life

  88. for those who are not born into the family of Abraham.

  89. And what a moment Jesus is sat there, and he knows this, he

  90. knows it, he's seeing the journey has seen the beginning.

  91. He saw Jacob, dig the well, and he goes one down going to stand

  92. there. And I'm going to Proclaim that

  93. salvation is not just for the Jews.

  94. Hold on a moment, I'm so thankful Jesus replied the

  95. woman, anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty

  96. again but those who drink the water I give will never thirst

  97. it, becomes a fresh bubbling spring within them, giving them

  98. eternal life. Please, sir.

  99. The woman said, give me this water then I'll never be thirsty

  100. again and I won't have to come here to get water.

  101. Go and get your husband's Jesus told her I don't have a husband.

  102. The woman replies. Jesus said, you're right.

  103. You don't have a husband for you, have had five husbands.

  104. And you aren't even married to the man that you're living with.

  105. Now, you certainly spoke. The truth.

  106. I really enjoy that in the middle of this conversation,

  107. Jesus affirms her for telling the truth, rather than rejecting

  108. her for having five husbands, He doesn't, he doesn't focus in on

  109. her sin and I passed no mistakes rather what he does.

  110. He said you've been honest with me in the little that you've

  111. given away. He sees the detail.

  112. Sir, the woman said you must be a prophet.

  113. I've cut this part out in the middle but feel free to read in

  114. your own time they have a conversation about worshiping.

  115. There's a great takeaway here because women at the time would

  116. not be allowed to sit at the feet of a rabbi and listen.

  117. But yet she sat there at the feet of the Messiah here in

  118. about true and proper worship, something that her husband would

  119. have never yet heard, the woman said, I know the Messiah is

  120. coming. The one who is called the

  121. Christ, when he comes he will explain everything to us.

  122. Then Jesus told her. Can you can you picture the

  123. scene? I am the Messiah.

  124. A moment has been 400 years of Silence between the last

  125. prophetic words about the coming Christ.

  126. And Jesus conversation with this woman.

  127. In a moment, everything changed. I wonder how she felt. the one

  128. that she's been waiting for a longing for suddenly appears to

  129. her, if there's ever a mic drop moment in the Bible, is this

  130. He's coming. I know he's coming, I don't know

  131. when he's coming back, I believe there's a messiah.

  132. I am the Messiah. So dropped an atomic bomb on my

  133. goodness. The world on never look the

  134. same. There's only one place in

  135. Scripture that potentially has a better mic drop and that is ax5

  136. with ananias and Sapphira. If you know the passage of your

  137. of Christian, you've read it before.

  138. The story is one of them's already come in and we've given

  139. all that. We have all that we receive for

  140. the land, lied dead. The best bit now, best bit.

  141. It's a bit harsh to call it the best bit.

  142. Anyway, they've dragged the drag that body out body.

  143. Number one, high body count in this story, incomes person.

  144. Number two. Are you sure that that's all the

  145. money received from the land? Yeah, it's all the money we

  146. receive Milan's, the apostles. But number one is already

  147. outside and you will now join them dead.

  148. Whoa, what am I drop? Moment very sad.

  149. But also pretty cool that the power not the powder.

  150. They had the power that Jesus gave them.

  151. Hallelujah. Our men.

  152. Anyway, just then in the first story not ananias and Sapphira,

  153. Jesus disciples came back and they were shocked to find him

  154. talking to a woman but none of them have the nerve to ask.

  155. What do you want with her? Or why are you talking to her at

  156. that moment? I meant that woman left her

  157. water jar beside the world, and ran back to the Village.

  158. Telling everyone come and see a man who told me everything I

  159. ever did, could he possibly be the Messiah fast forward a

  160. little. It says this many Samaritans

  161. from the village believed in Jesus, because the woman had

  162. said, he told me everything I ever did.

  163. Then they came out to see him, They begged him to stay in their

  164. Village so he stayed for two days long enough for many more

  165. to hear his message and believe, then they said to the woman.

  166. Now, we believe not just because of what you told us that because

  167. we have heard him ourselves. Now we know he indeed is the

  168. savior of the world. Father, I pray over these next

  169. few minutes and moments that we have together.

  170. Do you speak to me? And through me?

  171. Would you receive all the glory? The honor and the praise.

  172. Give us ears to hear a nice to see what you're doing is saying

  173. in Jesus, beautiful name. I love going on a journey for a

  174. honeymoon. Alison died.

  175. Which is now 8 years ago. Whoa.

  176. You're all thinking. Why?

  177. You don't look that old. The none of you are thinking

  178. that that's encouraging. We decided instead of spending

  179. lots of money on a fly instead, we'll spend a little bit of

  180. money on buying a second-hand car.

  181. We bought a Mazda MX-5 which we named Ruby.

  182. We decided to drive to Italy. We were incredibly ill-prepared.

  183. We had no map. We had no Breakdown Cover.

  184. We had books, no, accommodation for the drive there or the

  185. return journey. And to be honest, I don't even

  186. know if I was legally old enough to drive in Europe but we set

  187. off and the Lord kept us safe, we did a road trip a couple of

  188. years after that against Italy that time did have Breakdown

  189. Cover and that time did break down sketchy.

  190. We were up one of the mountains in the Alps and the brake discs

  191. clamp shirts and it was very very sweaty indeed.

  192. Anyway on this trip day one. One France.

  193. No problem. It's been a breeze day to

  194. Switzerland. Lovely.

  195. Beautiful views day. 3, Italy. And we're heading to our

  196. accommodation via Lake Como for a pit stop over lunch.

  197. Suppose one of the most breathtaking views and all of

  198. the world it was decidedly average.

  199. Maybe that's just it was an overcast day and we put the

  200. details of the Villa, into our sat-nav in the sat-nav said to

  201. us will arrive at 8:15. Last check-in. 9 p.m. happy days

  202. will make it on time. Everything's going to be okay.

  203. And we arrived to our Villa to see this absolutely glorious

  204. building to get out of our car and realize that that was not

  205. actually our Villa. And so what we did was we drove

  206. around in circles hoping to speak to an Italian who spoke

  207. English. In fact, what we found in Italy,

  208. funny enough was Italians, who spoke Italian it's very

  209. unhelpful for me. Do you know that's what all

  210. British people do a broad, isn't it?

  211. We speak to them in English. Hello.

  212. Do you know where this Villa is? And if they don't understand, we

  213. say, even louder still in English.

  214. Hello Yes, I can hear you anyway I learn a phrase.

  215. I had translation app on my phone side of a La Vela

  216. Argentina / for a come on, come on.

  217. To my dismay. Nobody understood a word of what

  218. I said. And nobody knew our Villa was.

  219. So we aimlessly drove around until he came to a moment where

  220. we were stuck. And there's a cliff face on one

  221. side and a drop on the other. And we didn't know what to do at

  222. this point. Alice was looking on the stat.

  223. Now, for nearby hotels, And Along came a little yellow Fiat.

  224. Drove up towards us and a guy got out of the fear and he said

  225. to us in Italian, are you looking for this Villa and the

  226. name the place where were supposed to say?

  227. Yes. Yeah, we are.

  228. We are. We are.

  229. Yeah, so we got in our car, he got in his car and we followed

  230. him. He drove us to the gates of the

  231. Villa complex. And then I promise you, this is

  232. a true story. We got out of the car to say,

  233. thank you to him and the car. And the man will just simply

  234. vanished I believe that we were led to our honeymoon Villa by an

  235. Angel. Pretty cool, right?

  236. Pretty cool. But that's not, that's not the

  237. point of the story, The Point, the stories to illustrate the

  238. Journey of Jesus, but we'll get there in a moment.

  239. You see, when we tell the story of our honeymoon, we don't often

  240. talk about the destination but it often talk about the Villa.

  241. We don't talk about the day, I am Royal more Sienna.

  242. What we talk about is the small Italian man in the little yellow

  243. fear in the middle of the story because often the journey is

  244. more important than the destination.

  245. In this passage, Jesus is on a journey.

  246. He is headed from Judea to Galilee what I find.

  247. So, interesting In this passage is that John writing says he had

  248. to go through Samaria. Now, if you do the research, he

  249. didn't have to there were in fact, two ways to get from Judea

  250. to Galilee only one of which led through Samaria.

  251. So, is it, is it there a discrepancy in John's writing?

  252. As he got something wrong? Or is it trying to emphasize the

  253. need for Jesus mission? Which was much more important

  254. than Jesus navigation. I feel that he was trying to

  255. say. He didn't have to go through

  256. Samaria, but he had to go. Go through because a destination

  257. was going to be more important when he met the woman at the

  258. well in sychar. And just to give you a bit of

  259. background for the passage, we're looking at this morning

  260. Jews and Samaritans, did not get on.

  261. So for Jesus, to go through, Samaria felt like an ill-made

  262. decision. As he said, it's the boys were

  263. following him. I imagine they would have been

  264. going. Are you sure?

  265. You know, they're not like us. And that part of the world

  266. there. There is another way.

  267. Jesus said, we have to go and there was a boundary line, there

  268. would have been an impasse There was passed down from generation

  269. to generation. The Samaritans hated the Jews

  270. and the Jews. Hated the Samaritans, both were

  271. taught systemic racism from birth, they were brought up to

  272. despise and reject that other opposing culture, you see.

  273. Samaritans believed they had a right to the Messiah, but the

  274. Jews believe they did not and their forms the impasse yet

  275. everything within Jesus required him to take The Road Less

  276. Traveled. I want to say, if you feel in

  277. the room this morning that you are out of the reach Of the love

  278. of God. I'm going to say that he came

  279. here just for you, just like he had to go to Samaria to meet the

  280. woman at the. Well, he had to also come to the

  281. cross for you, and I, you are not out of the reach of the love

  282. of God. Maybe you're here in the

  283. morning, you don't feel good enough, you're not. but Jesus

  284. has It's not on your merits, not my achievements.

  285. It's all on who he is. Maybe you feel ashamed of your

  286. past you live in fear of your future or started this woman,

  287. sat at the well, and threw her have Village and then the

  288. generations after her were transformed You see, Jesus

  289. worried little about cultural Customs, social scripts, or

  290. religious restrictions. Rather he cared about those who

  291. are cast out, he saved those who have shunt and He restored,

  292. those who have been rejected. This is who he is.

  293. I'm going to give you three thoughts from this passage and I

  294. pray that make sense to you as we go through them together.

  295. My first thought for us is this that Jesus sees her if you're

  296. making notes, that's Point number one.

  297. The passage says, the woman was surprised for Jews.

  298. Refused to have anything to do with Samaritans.

  299. She said to Jesus, you're a Jew and I'm a Samaritan woman.

  300. Why are you asking me for a drink?

  301. See this conversation with a Samaritan woman would have led

  302. Jesus to be condemned by the Jewish law and the claim that he

  303. makes after this to be the Messiah, was the very reason why

  304. those in Nazareth attempted to push him off the hillside in the

  305. Book of Luke. But he went to Samaria, just for

  306. her. Before Alice and I got married.

  307. We were headed to Nottingham to meet a photographer and in the

  308. city center, does a man selling big issues and you've seen them

  309. around people that need to make some money in order to live.

  310. But I've also seen probably how a lot of secular culture and at

  311. times us if we're in a rush treat, these kind of people and

  312. he was in the middle of not again, Rashad and big issue, big

  313. issue and everybody's walked past.

  314. No one gave him any attention. Now we had no money and what we

  315. did next was not groundbreaking I simply The man and I said I'm

  316. really sorry I have nothing to give you but have a great day

  317. and he turned around and he said to me thank you for noticing me.

  318. And it chilled me in that moment and it lives within our we live

  319. in a society of people that long to be seeing that long to be

  320. noticed and Jesus lived in the same society and yet he wanders

  321. all the way to this dangerous area to meet with one woman.

  322. Why? Because he sees her, I want to

  323. say that if you're sat in the room, if you don't know him this

  324. afternoon, he sees you and he knows you and he came from

  325. Heaven through to Ascension via the cross just for you.

  326. Jesus sees you, he said to the woman go and get your husband,

  327. she responded. I don't have a husband to, which

  328. Jesus said, you're correct. You've had five husbands and

  329. you're not married some money to live with.

  330. Now, you've certainly spoke the truth.

  331. You see in Middle Eastern culture, a woman would not have

  332. the legal right to file for divorce.

  333. So the fact that she has had five husbands does not mean that

  334. she's finished with them. It's means that they have told

  335. her that they are finished with her.

  336. She's been rejected by five different men on five different

  337. occasions and now the man that she's currently living with and

  338. sleeping with does not even give it a Dignity of being called

  339. wife She is defiled discarded, unwanted, and unmarried, and

  340. Jesus sees her mess. And he chooses to sit with her

  341. in the middle of it. Anyway, Wherever you find

  342. yourself this afternoon, he sees you.

  343. He sees you. I wonder if there's someone in

  344. the room and if I'm wrong on this, it's all right.

  345. But is there someone in the room?

  346. You some of the story of this woman feels quite irrelevant to

  347. you. You were, you're abused by a

  348. family member at the age of five or six and it's left a trauma,

  349. any that you can't quite Shake. I'm not asking you to put your

  350. hand up now or respond, but just in the quiet of this moment on

  351. say that he sees you. And that he's here for you in

  352. the same way that He restored this woman, he wants to restore

  353. you. He wants to take you back to

  354. that moment and fix you and and bring you to Holiness.

  355. He's got a plan for your life, that is not determined by your

  356. past. If that is you if you're in the

  357. room which you cannot find one of our prayer team at the end of

  358. would love to pray with you and journey through with you.

  359. And I is that. All right?

  360. Point number one for us this afternoon.

  361. He sees her Point number two, he saves her.

  362. The woman said, I know the Messiah is coming, the one who

  363. is called Christ and when he comes, he will explain

  364. everything to us. She's told her I am the Messiah.

  365. Now, she's been waiting longing and hoping for one who would see

  366. her and love her, she's found failed, affection, and five

  367. different men. Yet a long walks Jesus, and in

  368. the middle of her mess, he sees it, but then he also brings the

  369. through to Salvation what she's looked for in human effort, what

  370. she said. Attempt to Define in her own

  371. strength and understanding has not been possible until one

  372. encounter with Jesus. And here at the, well of Israel

  373. salvation is opened for the Gentiles, he saves her.

  374. He knows her past, he sees her shame, he loves her in the

  375. middle of it, See this one was condemned even by her own people

  376. yet Jewish Jesus would die to pay the price of her sin to

  377. bring her Restoration in the love of the father.

  378. In one moment, she was transformed.

  379. If you read the passage before, you may be aware, she used to go

  380. and draw water and the Heat of the day.

  381. This was not to top up her tan. You know, the phrase, Mad Dogs

  382. and Englishmen only got and the midday Sun that's because it's

  383. actually hot into the parts of the world.

  384. She would've avoided normal society doesn't go out to draw

  385. water in the middle of the day. You got to draw water in the

  386. cool of the morning of the call of the evening yet, she's here

  387. on her own isolated abandoned by her community.

  388. Yet, one encounter with the Messiah, sends her running back

  389. shouting to the ones, who condemned to the ones who no

  390. longer wanted her. She's transformed in a moment.

  391. I believe the disciples would have told this story.

  392. Can you imagine the conversation between Peter and mrs.

  393. Peter How was the trip? Yeah, it was really good.

  394. We saw some cool things. Jesus did some amazing stuff and

  395. then we went to this well in Samaria and the Miss Peter goes

  396. What area? They don't like us there.

  397. And Peter goes that was what I told Jesus.

  398. We didn't seem to care. We went there and then we went

  399. out to get food because me and the boys were hungry because

  400. it's been a long walk and you see Jesus he's not too fussed

  401. about eating real food because he only eats with his father

  402. gives him. But we went out to get food and

  403. then we came back and we find him talking to a Samaritan

  404. woman. Mrs. Peter goes I would have

  405. told the story. And Peter says, you know,

  406. thinking about it, he did say that we had to go through

  407. Samaria, and I told him, I said, boss there's two Roots, one of

  408. them leads around, would have to go through.

  409. And he says, I've got a mission there and then we got back and

  410. we find him talking with this woman at the well, and then

  411. believe it or not. She's got a load of husbands,

  412. our life's, a mess and hey, mrs. Pete, you'll never guess this,

  413. but after she met Jesus, she ran back to her Village and they all

  414. got saved, and then they fed us for free for two days.

  415. Whoa, See when we talk about our honeymoon, we don't often talk

  416. about the views, we don't often talk about the Villa.

  417. We talk about the little Italian Man in the Yellow Fiat.

  418. I believe that this group of lads, after this trip, probably

  419. didn't talk too much about Judea for.

  420. He didn't talk too much about Galilee, but when they were

  421. asked the question, they would have remembered the story of the

  422. rejected Samaritan woman by The Well of Israel.

  423. The journey I want to tell you that Jesus is still passing

  424. through. He still passing through his

  425. passing through our City's past ensure our nation, he's still

  426. walking on the face of our Earth, by the power of Holy

  427. Spirit, embodied in the church and he is still on a mission.

  428. He came here for you. See the Journey of Christ was

  429. not just from Judea to Galilee a via Samaria, but it was in fact

  430. from Heaven to Ascension via the cross.

  431. And this story gives a beautiful glimpse of what's about to

  432. happen. And the same way he had to go to

  433. Samaria for the sake of this Village.

  434. He also had to come to the cross for the sake of you and me.

  435. And this is who he is fully. God fully, man, the all-powerful

  436. Creator and sustainer of the cosmos who was born in the body

  437. of a baby destined to pass through the cross, to open the

  438. door of relationship between God, the father and Humanity.

  439. This is Jesus, the God who sees the God, who saves The God, Who

  440. restores The God? Who heals?

  441. And in the same way that he saved her, he's here in the

  442. room. If you don't know him to save

  443. you, firstly, he sees her. Secondly, he saves her thirdly.

  444. And lastly, as we come to land, he sensor.

  445. The woman left her water jar beside the well, and ran back to

  446. the Village, telling everyone come and see a man who told me

  447. everything I ever did, could he possibly be the Messiah?

  448. The passes goes on to say many Samaritans, The Village believe

  449. in Jesus because the woman had said he told me everything I

  450. ever did her testimony transform the lives of those with in her

  451. Village. She went from being someone who

  452. was scared. To being someone who is sent.

  453. I wonder do, you know, him this afternoon.

  454. He wants to send you again. Relationship with Jesus is not

  455. just for your Eternal salvation it is but it's that we can be

  456. sent to bring others to Eternity with him.

  457. Her life was never the same after meeting Jesus.

  458. Her eternity was secured her past was covered and her future

  459. was for the first time filled with promise.

  460. The turnaround is utterly remarkable.

  461. We had a guy come into the city site about a year ago and he had

  462. a bit of a past. He was involved in a number of

  463. gangs and some drug related stuff and he was currently

  464. awaiting trial. And he came to church and he

  465. found Jesus. And the transformation in his

  466. life was remarkable. When you see someone's life,

  467. flipped upside down by the grace of God, and suddenly feeling

  468. that they are sent, instead of sentence, let me tell you,

  469. everything begins to change and he came to me at the back end of

  470. last year. Hindi Hindi, that he was going

  471. to prison, you know. That was that was that was how

  472. the rolling was going to go. It had to go because of what had

  473. previously done and he came to me, he said can you baptize me?

  474. Because I want to go to prison knowing that I'm right with God

  475. and sent out to make a difference.

  476. And we got the privilege of baptizing him at the back end of

  477. last year, he called me on Saturday morning, last week.

  478. First, I've heard from him since he's been inside and he said

  479. Josh, it's not fun, but I'm here to make a difference.

  480. Come on. Because once we meet Jesus, we

  481. can never be the same. I want to tell you.

  482. If you're here in the room and your sat on the fence, the fence

  483. is a destination. Indecision is your decision

  484. either you're in or you're out, Jesus says himself there, either

  485. for us. Or against us.

  486. Where do you sit this morning? The Samaritan lady rejected.

  487. Defiled abused abandoned became the first biblically documented

  488. evangelist. A woman who was uneducated,

  489. despised who the Jews would have said had no share and no right

  490. to the Messiah. Brings absolute transformation,

  491. tear Town her community, and the Gentile World from that moment.

  492. Forts he saves her. And then he sensor.

  493. If you know, Jesus this afternoon, let me encourage you,

  494. we are called to go. So I was celebrated at the start

  495. of the message, the guys, on the see you are about to do events

  496. week. Doing what they can to make a

  497. difference. What about you?

  498. And I, and our places of work and our influence in our

  499. families with our friendships in our football clubs.

  500. He sees her, he saves her. He Sunset, that's my place of

  501. influence. What's yours?

  502. What is your Samaria? Not some area.

  503. But some area where you are deliberately sent and called by

  504. the purpose of God's make a difference, some of you in the

  505. room, work in education, work in the NHS.

  506. Some of you who may be working on the bins, come on your sent

  507. to an area to make a difference for such a time as this because

  508. why does a path that leads to destruction and many?

  509. Many find it. I called to show people the

  510. narrow way. I want to maybe you need a new

  511. commissioning this morning, not a new commission.

  512. What it says in Matthew 28, is more than sufficient going to

  513. world and make disciples actually oh cool.

  514. That's why we're still on Earth. That's why we're not transformed

  515. and transported to heaven when he finds us the world around.

  516. You is heading to a lost eternity and we hold the key to

  517. eternal life. I wonder do you need to be sent

  518. again church? This morning.

  519. Let's be bolder than we've ever been before.

  520. Let's take more risks in our faith.

  521. He is the god who sees you. He saves you and his son, gee.

  522. I wonder all around the room. Just for a moment.

  523. As we respond, why don't you bow, your head and close your

  524. eyes? It's not for any religious

  525. reason. It's just to protect the privacy

  526. of the people around you. I'm going to give you the

  527. opportunity to respond to things.

  528. Firstly, maybe you need to come to him to find your salvation

  529. this morning, either, you don't know Jesus at all and maybe this

  530. is your first experience in church.

  531. I pray that you've had a great time with us.

  532. If it is, but you're here and he is here for you and maybe you

  533. used to walk with God, but you've lost your way.

  534. You've been caught up in some stuff and you've found yourself

  535. drifting. I want to say that this morning.

  536. He is here for you to bring you in to bring you home to restore

  537. you to then You again. So if you're not a Christian or

  538. a long way from God, I'm going to give you a chance to say I'm

  539. in I want this Jesus the source of eternal life, the source of

  540. Living Water who's going to transform me from the inside

  541. out. I want him I'm going to give you

  542. the chance to respond and secondly if you are here and you

  543. are a Christian you are a follower of Jesus and maybe

  544. you're getting excited about being sent again.

  545. Then I'm going to give all of us a chance to respond as well.

  546. You see this Jesus Who Sat by The Well of Israel with the

  547. Samaritan woman to open the gates of salvation for those who

  548. are gentiles Went on a journey from Heaven to Ascension via the

  549. cross. Then the story and the

  550. understanding of Christianity is incredibly simple guard at the

  551. beginning out of his love made humankind for relationship and

  552. in relationship. The beginning, he walked to the

  553. Adam and Eve in the garden and they lived together And then

  554. Genesis cells that sin entered the world.

  555. Sin is anything that I do that is contrary to his will and his

  556. agenda. It's about independence.

  557. The root of sin is Independence. I choose I want, I need

  558. regardless of what he says and When sin entered the world, it

  559. caused a fracture in the relationship between God and

  560. between Humanity because God is perfect.

  561. He can't be near anything imperfect that because he's so

  562. desperately loves the ones he created.

  563. He could never look away. God gave his people rules to

  564. live by. And if you obeyed each one of

  565. these, you'd attained, the status of perfect, and then we

  566. can have relationship because Perfection can be near

  567. Perfection again, but it was never the case because Humanity

  568. keeps on messing up. And then enter Jesus.

  569. The man sat here by the side of the well ready to lead this

  570. broken beaten woman. Into relationship with the

  571. heavenly father, for which she has craved, and long as he is

  572. the same Jesus, who died on a cross to carry your sin, your

  573. shame, my mistakes, my terrors. The Bible tells us that the

  574. penalty for sin or the wages of sin is death, you and I deserve

  575. to die. For the wrong that we do.

  576. But Jesus died to pay the price that we could never fulfill.

  577. The passage goes on to say, but the gift of God, the gift free

  578. gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus, because of the sacrifice

  579. of Christ on the cross. And because of his resurrection,

  580. when the father looks at you, if you choose to accept Jesus, he

  581. doesn't see you in eyes, our sins deserve rather, he sees us

  582. as of righteousness, and the Perfection of Christ's that,

  583. once more, perfect, God and perfect, Humanity can come

  584. together through the sacrifice and atoning death of Jesus.

  585. That's the gospel. But we will have a decision to

  586. make. Yes, God, I want the gift that

  587. you've given or I'm content to walk on my own.

  588. Jesus also says this that if you try to hang on to your life you

  589. will lose it, but if you give up your life, for my sake will find

  590. it. See coming to Jesus Through the

  591. cross. It's not just about him being

  592. your savior. It's also about being your lord,

  593. your king, the one who, then dictates your steps.

  594. If you're in the room this morning this afternoon and

  595. you're not yet a Christian or you used to what we've got and

  596. you've lost your way, I'm going to give you an opportunity to

  597. stand up in your seat. There's just a couple of Marty

  598. I'm looking so we can know and then we're going to pray for you

  599. and by standing what you're saying is I want to get myself

  600. right with God this afternoon, I'll make a decision to say yes

  601. to Jesus and accept the eternal life that he brings some simply

  602. going to count from three, two, one.

  603. And if that she not a Christian or a long way from God and this

  604. afternoon you're saying yes I want this.

  605. Jesus then stand and I get two one.

  606. Are you ready? If that's you 321, why don't you

  607. stand right now? If that she got you buddy, well

  608. done, see you over there. Well done.

  609. See you mate. Well done.

  610. Is there anyone else this morning this afternoon before we

  611. pray? You're a long way from God or

  612. you've never met him wild. And I see is that anybody else?

  613. One. Last opportunity.

  614. Before we pray. Well done, guys.

  615. Alden. Well done water.

  616. Well done. he came here for you, but without knowing that you

  617. came here to meet with him, And the same God who loves that

  618. woman is the same God who loves you and just as he transforms a

  619. he wants to transform you from the inside out.

  620. Why don't you pray? This with me if you're able to

  621. do? So either internally or

  622. externally, in fact Church, why don't we all pray this together

  623. to encourage those who are standing say this out loud with

  624. me. Thank you, God, that you love

  625. me. Thank you that you know me.

  626. That you see me? Thank you for Jesus.

  627. Today, I understand that I have done wrong and it has a price to

  628. pay. Today, I accept the gift of

  629. Jesus. Come into my life.

  630. Be my God, my savior and my king.

  631. I give you me. Almond butter, you give these

  632. guys a Round of Applause. Well, done for being brave.

  633. This morning, feel free to take your seats.

  634. If you stood up there, I want to pray with you at the end.

  635. And lastly, if you're a Christian in the room, the

  636. response for us together is really simple.

  637. I'm excited to be sense again. I am also very frustrated that

  638. Alice has more recent stories of her sharing the gospel than I

  639. do. I need to be sent again.

  640. Maybe you need to be sin again. She came in from going to the

  641. dentist the other day. She took Ezra and Levi with her

  642. and the way back from the dentist they went to X and in

  643. walks this elderly, man. And somehow they have an

  644. hour-long conversation. While.

  645. Levi was just sitting there eating cake, and as we seems

  646. quite content with a dummy and then Alice eventually talk to

  647. this man about Jesus, and then get some signed up to go to O,

  648. be a pretty cool. Let's be a cent for people.

  649. How are you? Tell more stories?

  650. Maybe that's your heart this morning, you know, Jesus and I'm

  651. going to ask you if you know him and you want to say, I'm gonna

  652. go out and be sent to make a difference.

  653. Why don't you stand to your feet?

  654. If that's your heart this morning?

  655. Let me pray for us before I pass it back over to pass the DNS and

  656. we celebrate a moment father thank you that you send us out

  657. as you've had written in Matthew to make disciples of all

  658. Nations. Lord, thank you.

  659. That all the nations of the Earth are on our doorstep and

  660. you send us to go to make a difference whether you put your

  661. hands in front of your father. I ask right now that you give a

  662. bonus to go just as that woman at the well was transformed in a

  663. moment, having seen you and haven't been saved by you.

  664. She then became sent by you. Father, would you thank you that

  665. you see us, thank you, you save us but Lord, send us out again,

  666. not give us a passion and a desperation for the loss in our

  667. workplaces, in our universities, and our families, and our

  668. football teams and our Sports societies.

  669. And I'll give us a burden for lost.

  670. People, that we wouldn't be able to shake it long as you, wake us

  671. up in the morning, feeling, cooled to make a difference.

  672. Father, we say yes to you again. We say yes to be in the people

  673. that you sent in Jesus, beautiful name, amen.

  674. Thank you Josh. What a powerful message.

  675. Now, next week, wherever you are get ready for the second part of

  676. our introducing Jesus series. But for now maybe there's
