  3. Welcome to the one Church podcast.

  4. Hello and welcome to the one Church podcast.

  5. I'm Zoe and wherever you are. Today we're so glad you can join

  6. us. Psalm 143 says that the morning

  7. bring me word of your unfailing love for, I have put my trust

  8. in. You show me the way I should go

  9. for to you. I entrust my life today.

  10. Remember that whatever's happened in the past.

  11. You can trust him with your future.

  12. And now we have part 2 of the introducing Jesus series by

  13. Pastor David recorded, our Central site on Sunday, the 12th

  14. of February Well, if you're joining us on our podcast,

  15. welcome this morning. You are here at the first ever

  16. service at the one Church Central site, 9:30 in the

  17. morning and it's absolutely Dynamic.

  18. Everybody's looking so brilliantly, put together and

  19. you can't see any of that online.

  20. But here we are. And last week we began our

  21. series on introducing Jesus by looking at Jesus.

  22. How many of you enjoyed Josh's message last week?

  23. We are blessed. Like that.

  24. I'm so blessed to have so many brilliant speakers in the life

  25. of what we are. It gives me such an

  26. encouragement week, but we gave a clear opportunity throughout

  27. the morning for everyone to commit or recommit, their lives

  28. to Jesus, and choose to follow him and put their trust in him.

  29. And last week, throughout all our children's groups, and in

  30. our main hall, we saw over 40 children and adults respond to

  31. the message of the first time, or as a recommitment of their

  32. lives to Jesus. Come on that.

  33. That's worth a celebration. And today, we're looking at a

  34. transformed life. What happens when we encounter

  35. Jesus and what happens when we continue to walk with it.

  36. Now, there's a process. Firstly, Jesus is introduced to

  37. our lives and there's a transformation of our heart

  38. through an encounter. But then we go through a process

  39. of Jesus, being introduced to the whole of our lives and a

  40. transformation of our lives through a journey of Push it.

  41. And alongside this, we're each other's.

  42. I want to talk to you about having a transformed life.

  43. Yes. And encounter, but how we walk

  44. out our faith and become more and more like Jesus.

  45. And I'm going to look at Saul of Tarsus who became the Apostle

  46. Paul and experienced an amazing transformation of his heart in a

  47. moment. But then walked the Journey of a

  48. transformed life, over a period of time.

  49. So we're going to read from that.

  50. And Matthew come and read this Bible for us.

  51. So we're still breathing out murderous threats against the

  52. laws disciples. He went to a high priest and

  53. asked him for a letters to a synagogues in Damascus.

  54. So that if he found anywhere who belong to the way, whether men

  55. or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem as he

  56. neared. Damascus on his journey suddenly

  57. a light from Heaven flashed around him.

  58. He fell to the ground and Heard a Voice say to him, Saul Saul,

  59. why do you persecute me? Who are you Lord.

  60. So last I am Jesus. Whom you are persecuting.

  61. He replied. Now get up and go into the City

  62. and you'll be told what you must do for men.

  63. Traveling with Saul stood there speechless.

  64. They heard the sound but did not see anyone.

  65. So got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes, he

  66. could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into

  67. Damascus for free days. He was blind and did not eat or

  68. drink anything then. Ananias a disciple of the Lord

  69. spoke to went to the house and entered it placing his hand on

  70. Saul. He said brother Saul, the Lord

  71. Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming

  72. here. Has sent me so that you may see

  73. again and be filled with the Holy Spirit immediately

  74. something like scales fell from Saul's eyes.

  75. He could see again, he got up and was baptized and after

  76. taking some food, he regained his strength.

  77. So spent several days Days with the disciples in Damascus at

  78. once. He began to preach in the

  79. synagogues but Jesus is the son of God.

  80. All those who heard him were astonished and asked, isn't he?

  81. The man who caused havoc in Jerusalem, among those who call

  82. on his name and hasn't he come there to take them as prisoners

  83. to the chief priests. I mean, what is story?

  84. What? A, an amazing transformation of

  85. a life. Now, this is taking place maybe

  86. four to six years after the cross, and that the church has

  87. been growing. There's been different stories

  88. and here we reach this point where Paul was completely lost.

  89. You know, he's breathing out murderous threats and it's not

  90. just idle threats. He was there.

  91. When Stephen was stoned. He was there giving his

  92. approval. He was he'd gone to see

  93. Christians, drag out their houses put him.

  94. Prison or killed Paul had an encounter.

  95. So, here's this voice. Who are you?

  96. I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

  97. I mean, what a moment he had an encounter, but then Paul was

  98. transformed in that moment in his heart.

  99. He's blind for three days, he goes and that's some training

  100. with the disciples, maybe for four days.

  101. So, seven days later, having come to Paul Christians out of

  102. there. R homes and throw them in

  103. prison. He goes into the synagogue and

  104. preaches, the gospel. I mean what an incredible moment

  105. and we need all of us a moment like that and I am Jesus moment.

  106. For me, transformed in a moment sitting in a room, a religious

  107. guy believed in God, but I didn't know him Sat in a room

  108. with a missionary, who led me to Jesus.

  109. And in a moment, something happened in the next day in a

  110. room like this, on the front row, filled with the Holy Spirit

  111. weeping before God as a 19 year. Old young guy, we've all got our

  112. story. We need our, I am Jesus moment

  113. where our hearts are transformed.

  114. But then the transformation we need then is worked out over a

  115. whole life. It takes time.

  116. Paul's probably about 30 years old at this point and he had to

  117. walk out his faith. Died.

  118. Went maybe around 60 years old and he writes these words

  119. probably 15 to 20 years after his conversion, he's been

  120. working working on his faith and he comes to this passage in 2

  121. Corinthians. Rather a Servants of God and

  122. he's talking about the Journey of a transformed life.

  123. A Servants of God, we commend ourselves in every way in great

  124. endurance in troubles, hardships and distresses.

  125. In beatings imprisonments, riots in hard work sleepless, nights

  126. and hunger in Purity and understanding patience and

  127. kindness in the Holy Spirit and insincere love in truthful

  128. speech. And in the power of God, with

  129. weapons of righteousness, in the right hand and in the letter

  130. whose glory and dishonor, bad report, Goodra Report genuine

  131. yet regarded as Impostors known yet regarded as unknown dying

  132. and yet we live on beaten and yet not killed sorrowful.

  133. Yet always rejoicing poor yet, making many rich, as having

  134. nothing. And yet, possessing everything.

  135. I such a powerful passage because it's about a transforms

  136. life. It's about the journey to not

  137. only having an encounter and a transformed heart to living it

  138. out. Out for the rest of your lives

  139. in blessings, and intestines in trials, and breakthroughs.

  140. We need that. I am Jesus moment.

  141. You need it, something happens in your heart.

  142. I know for some, it's a little more gradual, but for many of us

  143. in this room, we had an encounter with Jesus, but we

  144. also need a life of discipleship that leads to a transformed

  145. life. In every season, in every moment

  146. in everything, yes, tell you testimony but even more

  147. powerful, tell the story of how God has led you through the

  148. whole of your life. And I want to just look in this

  149. transformation. This this change our look at

  150. four areas that Paul lived in, after this encounter for things

  151. that happened to him after. He'd had the, I Am Jesus moment

  152. that led to a transformed life. I think firstly he experienced

  153. transformation in his devotion. And here we are in Philippians.

  154. He writes this, what is more? I consider everything a loss

  155. because of the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus.

  156. My Lord for whose sake, I have lost all things.

  157. I consider them garbage that I may gain Christ.

  158. He was transformed throughout that discipleship in his

  159. Devotion to Jesus. Jesus was at the core of Paul's

  160. life. And he talks about prayer and

  161. intimacy with God. You need your, I am Jesus

  162. moment, your testimony, your story.

  163. This is what the Lord did for me.

  164. This is where he met with me. This is what happened to me.

  165. You need that moment, but there's something now that in my

  166. faith, 30 Seven years later. That is even more powerful.

  167. If I could say that of a transformed life, walking it

  168. out, he was transformed in his devotion, his devotion.

  169. For us prayer and intimacy at the core of our lives.

  170. With God, I was chatting to Luke this week, just on the second

  171. row here, and I was asking him, how do you get to a free life

  172. where you not only have a moment, but you get to a place

  173. where you can live out freedom. And he said something to me,

  174. which I've been thinking about this week, he says, from his

  175. experience only by staying in the world, by staying in the

  176. promises of God by staying in what God says, can you live that

  177. kind of Life? Do you have a chance of that

  178. kind of life? I love of the Bible love of What

  179. God Says. A regular reading.

  180. I write in my Bible and I make notes in my Bible.

  181. If you go through it, you'll see what God's been saying to me in

  182. my devotional life and in the New Testament, I just got to the

  183. end of Revelation, gone back at got to read Luke's gospel and

  184. then John's gospel. And then that I'll start again

  185. with the new test, and I'm working my way through the

  186. artists mind doing that. All my heart or my life.

  187. Transformation in devotion. The need to be with others.

  188. I've never met anyone that can do faith on their own long-term.

  189. You need others at you, say about the holy spirit's enough.

  190. Yeah, he is. But he also draws you into

  191. fellowship with others so that you can encourage them and they

  192. can encourage you iron sharpening iron helping

  193. supporting, it's why the church family is so important.

  194. It's why gathering in a context like this, as the body of Christ

  195. to be together. Transformation in devotion, over

  196. a life allowing him to speak a move and change responding to

  197. things. I often I'm in a context where

  198. someone will say something. I think I'm going to do a bit of

  199. work on that in my own life. That's great.

  200. I'm going to change in a so powerful transformation in

  201. devotion but also poor new transformation in.

  202. Hit the decisions he made, here we are in Corinthians at on the

  203. screen, it says, to the week I became weak to win the war.

  204. I've become all things to all people, so that by all possible

  205. means. I might save some.

  206. I do all this for the sake of the Gospel that I may share in

  207. its blessings, his life illustrates the journey to place

  208. Jesus at the center of all of our decisions.

  209. It starts with the I am Jesus moment, I'm deciding to follow

  210. Jesus but then our works through our lives by continually

  211. choosing to place him first. And it's so powerful.

  212. Some of you in the room have been Jesus followers for maybe

  213. 50 or 60 years and, you know, that you still have to today.

  214. Choose to walk with him. Yeah, I have a rhythm that leads

  215. me to the devotion. I have a rhythm that means, I

  216. think about him so much of the day, but I still make choices to

  217. place Jesus at the center of everything.

  218. Because faith is not an add-on. For me, I'm a I love football.

  219. I enjoy food. I like certain things on

  220. television and I enjoy this. And I'm also a follow.

  221. Jesus, faith is not an add-on. It is at the very core of who I

  222. am as a person and whenever I talk to another person, whenever

  223. I have a conversation, reflect one of our neighbors brought us

  224. a squash is that we do not quite worked out what to do with the

  225. squash, the very difficult to peel and But I'm not complaining

  226. very grateful for that, and he brought that and every time I

  227. see Pete and he's a brilliant neighbor, I went to him this

  228. week because I borrowed a toolbox from somebody who are

  229. and I made a mistake and I couldn't shut the lid for a

  230. broken. The lid, I tried everything I

  231. couldn't do it. So eventually, I carried this

  232. round to my neighbor Pete, who looked at it, fiddled with it,

  233. move something. And shut it, immense everything.

  234. He's been ran to our house when I've had water gushing out, the

  235. dishwasher when I made a mistake by drilling the wrong thing by.

  236. I'm very very loved by God but practical skills in the area of

  237. DIY and not my greatest gift but he can do anything, he can mend

  238. anything. But when I talk to him, I always

  239. want to get there with Jesus with because although he's got

  240. all these practical skills, there's something about Jesus.

  241. I want to tell him about The Journey of introducing Jesus to

  242. every area of Our Lives that we have integrity.

  243. Like Jesus. Love Like Jesus honesty.

  244. Like, Jesus. Generosity like Jesus serving

  245. and compassion, like Jesus commitment.

  246. Like Jesus, you know, when I walk with him I encounter Grace

  247. and love and mercy and yet his presence also impacts my life to

  248. live a life of Integrity. That what you see is what you

  249. get. When you meet me or when I meet

  250. you, this is the real deal. To tell the truth and not

  251. exaggerate to forgive those who hurt us to let our yes.

  252. Be yes. And your no be no to be humble.

  253. Teachable others centered. If you find yourself talking

  254. about yourself too much, when you talk with another person,

  255. tweak it a little and talk about them a little bit more.

  256. Giving of my resources to him. It's all part of a changed life.

  257. It's all part of being transformed in my decisions

  258. serving others, loving the poor caring for the vulnerable.

  259. Loving God, with all my heart. I read a story yesterday, I

  260. found so powerful from Premier News and let me just read it.

  261. You this week are disqualified drink driver who had driven into

  262. another car. Killing a church, volunteer was

  263. jailed Ryan, mcclory was 35 three times over the limit

  264. driving at 60 miles an hour, in a 30 mile, an hour Zone in

  265. Gorton. When the incident happened on

  266. the 5th of December 20, 22. He admitted causing death by

  267. dangerous driving at Manchester Crown Court.

  268. Postgraduate student Lewis do B25 of studying for a master's

  269. degree. He'd been returning from an

  270. evening at Christian. Revival Church in Manchester

  271. where he was a volunteer. He was in the car that was

  272. struck by mclaury and he died in hospital later that night.

  273. According to the crown prosecution, service mclaury had

  274. been drinking all day, a taken diazepam and was the score.

  275. Ready. Disqualified from driving

  276. following a recent drink driving conviction, the CPS said there

  277. was no evidence to indicate that he applied the brakes or

  278. attempted to reduce speed before the Collision.

  279. I'm in a victim statement. Read to the court.

  280. It's the doobies mother said that her son Lewis was not only

  281. her son, but he was also the spiritual Giants of their house.

  282. I now have a hole in my heart. She said that no one can ever

  283. fill. But she then added that she

  284. hoped the mclaws family could help him find a meaningful

  285. purpose in his life. And she said, I sincerely

  286. release my pain of losing my son by giving forgiveness to you.

  287. My heart, breaks for you as a family because you've lost your

  288. son to a prison cell and I am deeply sorry for your loss.

  289. Wow, transformation by decision. Doesn't mean we don't hurt

  290. transformation in Doctrine. Paul was probably one of the

  291. most educated scholars in the Bible, Train from an early age.

  292. He called himself a Hebrew of Hebrews.

  293. Yet he was transformed in his life when he encountered.

  294. Jesus it just says here in Ephesians 6.

  295. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, the

  296. word of God in your life, encouraging to walk in good

  297. Doctrine. And this is what happened to

  298. Paul, but our journey is the same.

  299. What does God say? Now I we love people with all

  300. our hearts as a house. and we welcome people and we serve

  301. through our Ministries and our compassion work, people of all

  302. different backgrounds, And we try and serve them without

  303. discrimination. And without judgement.

  304. And we also know that there are different views.

  305. And yet, in our house, we hold to the truth that we believe.

  306. That Jesus is the only way to be right with God.

  307. And there's no other way, only him.

  308. For us that sexual intimacy, in the Bible is only found between

  309. a husband and a wife within marriage.

  310. The heaven is not a guarantee but it's a choice we make by

  311. inviting only Jesus into our lives.

  312. That the Bible is the finished complete word of God and is

  313. unchanging. We're transformed in our

  314. Doctrine. You know what I believe as a

  315. follower of Jesus must be influenced and formed through

  316. what he says in the Bible and sometimes Church.

  317. What we may hold to is unpopular.

  318. So, what do we do? We love everyone, we care for

  319. everyone, when we get an opportunity to show compassion

  320. to somebody. We do this week in your church,

  321. one Church, dozens of people have been given food, clothing

  322. care, support Furniture training.

  323. I've been loved, and prayed for children young.

  324. People students have been given the best programs.

  325. We can do small groups, around the city of open their coffee

  326. and biscuits. Tend to others.

  327. That's been care and love. But sometimes we hold on to our

  328. truth, not because it's comfortable but because it's

  329. right pause transformed in his Doctrine and lastly pause

  330. transformed in his desire, he went from this being, let's kill

  331. Christians. To, at the end of his life, 30

  332. years later, saying from 2 Timothy, I fought the good

  333. fight. I have finished the race, I have

  334. kept the faith. For us, faith can lead to a

  335. transform life. We need like four Paul walking.

  336. All these years. Jesus, first Lord of everything

  337. seeking first, his will he's Lord of my life.

  338. He is my everything. This is the Journey of a

  339. transformed life. Yes.

  340. And I am Jesus moment. Some of you may find that in the

  341. next couple of minutes. But then all of us are out

  342. working our faith, our transformation, in our devotion,

  343. a transformation in the decisions, we make a

  344. transformation in our Doctrine and transformation in our

  345. desires to place him first. I love this journey and as for

  346. me today and this message is being shared all across all the

  347. different 7 services in five different sites today.

  348. As for me, I'm saying, Lord keep changing me to be more and more

  349. like Jesus. Just like us to pray.

  350. And ask you some questions. Now, have you been introduced to

  351. Jesus yet? Have you been introduced to

  352. Jesus? Do you know him for yourself?

  353. You know, I may be from that. Are you walking in the truth and

  354. being transformed? I love Grace.

  355. Listen, have you fallen over this week so I can get up.

  356. Have you got some regrets in your heart today?

  357. Okay, you can come to him. Examine Your Heart.

  358. Lord, I'm sorry, keep walking. Are we willing to keep learning

  359. in our devotion and our decisions, our Doctrine, our

  360. desires, I love that. Passage that said out outwardly,

  361. we might be wasting away, but inwardly, we are being renewed,

  362. changed transformed. So just in an application here

  363. in his presence. Will you pause and just

  364. remember? How much you are loved?

  365. How much you are loved? Listen, whatever's in your head

  366. try and just focus on that one thing.

  367. I am loved. By the god of the universe.

  368. Just think about it for your life.

  369. Remember how much you are loved? I just wonder in this room

  370. whether there's someone who perhaps doesn't know Jesus or

  371. perhaps you just feeling a long way from him today, I would love

  372. to give you an opportunity to have your either.

  373. The first or another, I am Jesus moment that says where Paul

  374. Stoddard is where his life began to change his heart was

  375. transformed. Perhaps, you need a moment like

  376. that. I'm going to pray a prayer.

  377. And why don't we all just pray? This prayer out loud as well.

  378. Why don't we all say this? Thank you, God, that you love

  379. me. Thank you that you sent Jesus to

  380. die on a cross for me. I come to you today.

  381. And I acknowledge that there is sin in my life.

  382. There are wrong things in my heart.

  383. Thank you. That you're willing to change

  384. me. I come to the cross.

  385. I say sorry for my sin. And I invite you Jesus into my

  386. life. I give you me come and transform

  387. my heart. Today, right now.

  388. I just why we're just In God's Presence here.

  389. If you pray that prayer either for the first time or perhaps,

  390. as a recommitment today, I'd love just to pray a prayer of

  391. blessing over you all. I'm going to ask you to do in a

  392. minute. He's put your hand up and guard.

  393. All see, I'll see, and we'll just pray for you.

  394. So if you pray that prayer for the first time you want this a

  395. transformed heart, you know you know if that's you here just put

  396. your hand up now and say that's me.

  397. I've prayed that prayer this morning.

  398. I want that to be in my life. Anybody else?

  399. Just raise our hand as great. Anyone else can lift it high if

  400. that's you if you pray that this morning.

  401. Fantastic. Father I pray for these three or

  402. so people. We'll hear that they might know

  403. right now that you're doing a work in their hearts, o God, by

  404. the power of the spirit, may they have an, I am Jesus moment

  405. and then counter meet them where they are.

  406. We pray in the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.

  407. We'd love to just be held to just give you a bit of a booklet

  408. and pray with you at the end if you were there there, but what

  409. about the rest of us? What about a transformed life?

  410. Are you willing again today to say in my devotion?

  411. I'm going to keep walking my decisions.

  412. I'm going to keep him at the center in my Doctrine.

  413. I'm going to stay in the Bible and love people.
