Welcome to the one Church podcast.
-
Hello and welcome to the one Church podcast.
-
My name is Chris and wherever you're joining us from today.
-
You are very welcome. In Philippians 1 verse 6, we
-
read this that he who began a good work in, you will carry it
-
on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
-
Let me encourage you today that this is true for you as an
-
individual is true for us as a church.
-
That whatever God has started in us, he will bring to completion.
-
He will finish what he has started.
-
So for, maybe there are some areas of your life where you've
-
seen the beginning of something, hold on to the promise, that
-
whatever he has started. He will always finish.
-
Today's, message comes from Pastor David recorded yesterday,
-
Sunday, the second of April, at our city site, enjoy on
-
Thursday, I flew back from a conference in Europe and two
-
things happened on the plane. The firstly, I listen to and
-
enjoyed last week's. One Church podcast in which
-
Philippa from the OB site Spokane, in the beginning of a
-
message. She Talked about the Tooth
-
Fairy, it's the level of the ode be site and she talked about the
-
fact that the burst or Tooth Fairy.
-
We're me Miranda. That's me and Susan, live pays
-
more for any child's tooth that's removed than anywhere
-
else. And I wanted to just say, for
-
any of you heard that in our defense, No One Believes In the
-
Tooth Fairy just want to make that clear.
-
But have you seen how amazing our granddaughters are?
-
How can we not give at least two pounds?
-
Pounds per tooth. In fact, in fact, it can have up
-
to half my kingdom but don't tell them, but you would not
-
believe how many teeth fall out on a Monday.
-
I think some of them are held in and brought out on a Monday.
-
So that two pounds appears, the second thing was meeting a
-
prophetess on the plane and this is a lady I've heard of for
-
many, many years, who carries a worldwide prophetic Ministry and
-
she wandered down the front of the plane and she appeared at my
-
shoulders. She said there's a seat next to
-
me. Would you like to come and sit
-
down next to me, and I'll give you a word from God.
-
That's cool. So here, what we wondered down
-
and I got my plate and that we were circling, he's throwing
-
about to land and we landed as she was giving this world.
-
It was very, very quite dramatic for me but I recorded it on my
-
phone and I wanted to just read you a few of the Things She Said
-
and some of it was private but I want to read you some of what
-
she said to me. I want you says, you.
-
She means me and she means our house.
-
I created you for the missions impetus I have made you to be
-
one that raises those and sends those to the nation's.
-
And the Lord says that at the end of the day, the Declaration
-
will be that this house will be known for its sending anointing
-
and Nations being impacted and changed because of that which
-
was sent to them. And so the spirit of God says I
-
will provide great man power and great financial power for that
-
which has the ability to be given away to the many.
-
This is already a house of Salvation and a house of growth.
-
But the Lord says you haven't seen anything yet in the area of
-
it being a house of healing and a House of Miracles.
-
And the Lord says, I am bringing that I want to build a Goshen an
-
area where the light shines when it doesn't shine in Egypt, one
-
of the definitions of Goshen is that his is a place that is
-
near. And it felt like the spirit of
-
God says my promises that this is a place of nearness to me
-
closeness intimacy and this is the foundation of everything you
-
do. And I will honor that I now
-
summon courage. She talked about some other
-
things that you couldn't possibly have known.
-
And I was encouraged. We mustn't despise the power of
-
Prophecy. We love the Bible, we love
-
encouragement. We love prophetic words today.
-
In the Bible calendar is Palm Sunday and Jesus is about to
-
enter the city and the anticipation is dramatic.
-
Something is about to happen. He saw Jesus passing by.
-
We I read this morning in John's gospel and it's like this Jesus
-
is passing by and a moment in history is about to happen a
-
little later. I'm going to draw some things
-
out of this passage for our lives specifically but I want to
-
look at the context and go through the text with you and
-
we're going to do that piece by piece as they approached
-
Jerusalem. The disciples in this Whirlwind
-
of Miracles and walking with Jesus and encountering, God,
-
doing incredible things. They approached Jerusalem and
-
the sense of history and prophecy in this moment
-
colliding is overwhelming everything in Jesus life has
-
been leading up to this moment. He came for what was about to
-
happen in Jerusalem. Jerusalem was Jesus, Destiny.
-
He was always going to end up there at the end of his life.
-
And at this period, it's completely crowded with
-
pilgrims. It's surging with people keyed
-
up with religious expectation. He could not have chosen a more
-
dramatic time than this, and it could have sneaked into the city
-
at night, but he enters at the height of activity, because
-
Jerusalem was his Destiny in that moment and he came to
-
bethphage on On the Mount of Olives.
-
Few years ago I stood on the Mount of Olives and tried to
-
imagine all that happened there. I know some of you have been in
-
the significance of the Mount of Olives.
-
What a place did Jesus realize when he walked in but just a few
-
days later, he would be knelt there just before he was
-
arrested. Potentially a moment of not
-
doubt, but vulnerability with the father, where he said, if
-
it's possible. Can this cup be taken from?
-
Me but not as I will. But as you will, you know, God
-
doesn't mind vulnerability in our lives and moments when we
-
go. I don't know if I can do it but
-
he wants us to get to the next place but says, I'm going to
-
trust you whatever. I feel the Mount of Olives will
-
be the place I believe where Jesus will return.
-
When he ascended at the book of Acts, the beginning says he will
-
return the same way you've seen. They were on the Mount of
-
Olives. I think personally, he'll
-
literally stand on the Mount of Olives when he returns.
-
Jesus sent two disciples is so often sent people together, the
-
two of The Twelve, the 72, the disciples would have walked with
-
Jesus on their own, but there was also this Paul about being
-
and doing it together, a continual powerful picture in
-
the Bible. I'll family and relationship and
-
Community together. That is what the church should
-
be, and it's so true for us. He sent the two disciples saying
-
to Go to the Village ahead of you.
-
And at once, you will find a donkey tied there with her cult
-
by her. I love the reality that Jesus in
-
his devotions in his walk with the father had heard the father
-
say, by the way, there's going to be a donkey in that place and
-
these moments happen. So often pictures words of
-
knowledge impact, it became the norm in my devotions.
-
This morning Nathaniel, I saw you whilst you are under a tree
-
and here's the word of the Lord. Add go into the City and at the
-
time and A man carrying a jar of water will meet you.
-
Follow him Zacchaeus come down, I know your name come down and
-
coming to your house. For tea is so powerful.
-
He can speak to us in the same way in the same way the other
-
day. This is kind of a miracle.
-
I'm waiting to see if it truly happens.
-
But my sister said to me, she lives in Germany with her
-
husband and they love Jesus. And they walk with Jesus down,
-
she was in the UK and she said, we've got a bit of Investment
-
and we'd like to put it into a property in the UK, but we're
-
not sure how to do it. What do you think I should do?
-
I know nothing about property. Nothing about Investments and
-
think I'm a safe Pair of Hands, but I don't know anything.
-
And so I said to her, well, you know what about the place that
-
helped us sell mom's house in the village where you lived as a
-
kid and she was going to go and stay there.
-
I said, why don't you go in there?
-
And perhaps is you just say I'm interested in the lady who owns
-
it will come up to you and say oh, I've just been from a place
-
where there's a little flat up for sale.
-
Would you like to look at it? I left it at that the next day
-
she went into that place. She walked in and said I'm
-
interested in at that point the owner walked into the business
-
and said to her o a property I've just come from a flat
-
that's available. Would you like to come and see
-
it? She went to see it, put an offer
-
that offers been accepted and it's going through now.
-
I'm waiting till it goes through but you see God can speak
-
through eyes. It was a throwaway comments that
-
powerful for her untie them. Mm, and bring them to me the
-
donkeys. And if anyone says anything to
-
you say to them that the Lord needs them?
-
Hmm. And he will send them right
-
away. Now I want to encourage you to
-
try this with caution as unless the Lord speaks you.
-
You're going to get arrested. The Lord says, I need that bike.
-
I'm now stealing from you I've been in Tesco's a couple of
-
times and you all know the Tesco clubcard gets you money off and
-
it's on a big set of keys. I've gotten sometimes, I just
-
take the single car key and I go in there and you got three or
-
four things and you want to buy them and they've all got money
-
off and you haven't got your Tesco card.
-
Has anyone ever done this? Excuse me, you don't know me.
-
I don't know. You can.
-
I borrow your Tesco clubcard so that I can get this money off
-
and you'll get the points. What do you think about that?
-
Thank you so much and then you take it clink.
-
Thank you, Sam. Um, anyone done that, give me a
-
wave. Anyone disgusted, that I've done
-
it on four or five occasions, I'm really sorry about that.
-
Like if you need me to kneel down, you're gonna need God to
-
speak, to you, to say, the Lord needs them, but they went, and
-
they said, the Lord needs them on the donkey's, came with and
-
this took place to fulfill. As we go on, in the passage,
-
what was spoken through, the prophet?
-
Say to daughter Zion. See, your king comes to you,
-
Gentle and riding on a donkey. And on a Colt, the foal of a
-
donkey Jesus was not about to ride into the city on this
-
momentous. Prophetic moment in pump as an
-
Earthly Warrior mounted on a horse with a chariot.
-
He was going to enter in humility on a donkey.
-
And why was the donkey so important?
-
Well, first it fulfilled prophecy that have been
-
prophesied years before in Zechariah that the king would
-
come in riding, on a donkey. But, secondly, the donkey
-
symbolizes, peace, and Jesus here at the Prince of Peace.
-
Coming into this situation that would change our lives and give
-
us the opportunity of salvation, but he's also showing the people
-
that he is not the political Messiah, they're expecting it.
-
Not come to kick the Romans out, he'd come to give his life to
-
reach people and something different.
-
And the disciples went and did, as Jesus had instructed them,
-
such a powerful statement. The disciples went and did as
-
Jesus instructed them. Honestly, if we all live like
-
that, life would be more simple. Jesus says I will do.
-
I've done it would be so much easier.
-
I know there's a few challenges in the middle of that but it's
-
such a powerful statement. They played their part and did
-
what he asked he commanded and they outworked and I think the
-
disciples began to realize that when they did what Jesus said,
-
they saw Miracles and breakthroughs and
-
demonstrations. You know, the masses were Said
-
go and feed them. The people were healed.
-
People found faith and so much more simply by doing what he
-
instructed. Them they brought the donkey and
-
the colt and placed their cloaks on them.
-
For Jesus to sit on a very large crowd spread their cloaks on the
-
road while others cut branches from the trees and spread them
-
on the road to spread garments in this way on the road, for
-
them to be trodden on. And then picked up was a royal
-
honor in the book of 2 Kings. You'll read about Jay, You who
-
was anointed king and the people took off their garments place
-
them on the floor so that he could go over them and walk
-
them. And if they did they declared
-
Jay, who is King. It was a sign, the king is
-
coming into the city. People also cut palm branches
-
and wave them in the air and the palm branch represented
-
something of goodness and victory.
-
And was a symbolic of the final Victory.
-
Jesus was about to win over sin and over death.
-
With, and that's what was happening.
-
The crowds? That went ahead of him and those
-
that followed shouted Hosanna to the son of David blessed.
-
Is he who comes in the name of the Lord hosanna in the highest
-
heaven. When the people shouted Hosanna,
-
they were declaring two things. They were declaring.
-
Here is the king. And they were saying save now,
-
which is what Hosanna means. And though, in their own minds,
-
they were waiting for this Earthly King, they were
-
declaring Something without them, realizing of God's answer,
-
you know? Save.
-
Now blessed is the one who will save.
-
Now, who comes in the name of the Lord.
-
And as they shouted Hosanna, they will welcoming the kingdom
-
of God. When Jesus entered Jerusalem,
-
the whole city was stirred, love it.
-
And asked who is this when they were stirred?
-
They asked, who is this? And the crowds answered.
-
This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.
-
Wow, the the city, the whole city was stirred and people
-
asked him receive the answer. This is Jesus.
-
What happened here in this account that we just looked at
-
here? That's in all four gospels is so
-
powerful. The It e is in anticipation of
-
something happening. Jesus humbly rides in on a
-
donkey, The Cry of the people. Save now Hosanna the image of
-
God's answer for the world. And if you read on the anger of
-
the religious spirit, that wanted to silence the people,
-
the king of the universe arriving at his place of
-
Destiny. So powerful, I'm just before I
-
just draw out some thoughts for us.
-
Why don't we just try something? Because when you say hosanna you
-
saying save now so let's just try say hosanna.
-
Now we're going to set a little bit louder in a minute we're
-
going to do it over four areas. I'd like you to think about
-
everyone. You know, that doesn't know
-
Jesus. When you say hosanna you are
-
almost prophesying over them save now and you declaring
-
something. Are you ready?
-
Just get there. Get there pictures in your mind
-
right now. Just get them in your thoughts.
-
Are you ready? 3 2, 1 Hosanna.
-
I think of your neighbors that live down the street where you
-
live. Think about people that you
-
know, don't know, Jesus 3, 2, 1 Hosanna now think about everyone
-
in leicestershire. That doesn't know Jesus.
-
That's coming going through Ramadan at the time.
-
It's perhaps in another religious Festival.
-
That's perhaps, I have no faith at all gone.
-
Are you ready? 3, 2, 1 Hosanna.
-
And what about our country? What about our country and all
-
the millions of people that live without Jesus.
-
Three, two, one, Hosanna and what about the world all across
-
the world? Are you able to prophesy into
-
all different places around the world?
-
Maybe seven billion, people of which 45 billion don't know.
-
Jesus, three, two, one Hosanna, something happened in that
-
moment Hosanna. It was a declaration of what was
-
about to happen, but I love this passage because when I read it,
-
so many things just come out and just speak to me, let me dry.
-
You statements from this passage as they approached Jerusalem.
-
Keep walking in the plan that God has for you.
-
The greatest thing you can ever do with your life is to walk in
-
his will to set your sights on keeping Jesus at the center of
-
everything and simply listening to his voice as he directs you,
-
firstly Through the Bible and then through other believers
-
around you and then through prophecy and through the body of
-
Christ to trust him with everything Jerusalem.
-
Is the Father's plan for Jesus, you know, keep in his plan for
-
your life and if you've drifted if you've you know this morning
-
if you drift a little the great thing about Jesus is the grace
-
that comes with faith in him, make some adjustments and come
-
back. If you just drifted into some
-
things which you know we're not helpful if even last night there
-
was some areas that weren't helpful.
-
Make some decisions right now. Reset Your spiritual navigation
-
and come home. Keep walking in the plan of God
-
for you. But then this phrase go to the
-
Village ahead of you. Go to your village ahead of you.
-
You have influence in the village ahead of you.
-
Your family and neighbors, where you live your workplace?
-
Yes, he may lead you somewhere else.
-
But before you go somewhere else, make sure you are focused
-
on the village ahead of you, where you can make a difference
-
by how we live our lives, by how we speak to others and how we
-
speak about others by our Liability a timekeeping
-
faithfulness, kindness stopping for the one.
-
These things are so important, he said go to the Village ahead
-
of you. Well, what about go to the
-
Village? Ahead of you, where you should
-
be, what's your village? That means this Easter invite
-
somebody here. Next week to be in the house to
-
hear the gospel, send a message of Hope to somebody this week
-
that Jesus is Alive and you're praying for them bake, a cake
-
for somebody and get it--and in your village of influence as
-
somebody. How can I pray for you?
-
It's what there's always an interesting response in people's
-
lives, but very rarely will, people say I don't want you to
-
pray for me. Thirdly, just the phrase, the
-
Lord needs, then of the donkey's.
-
Well remember the Lord needs you?
-
I love this scripture from Chronicles, where is prophesied.
-
He said the eyes of the Lord range throughout the Earth to
-
strengthen. Those whose hearts are fully
-
committed to him. God's eyes scanning the world.
-
Sees, everybody whose hearts are committed to strengthen them in
-
that moment. I think you can use that verse
-
to say strengthen me now, Lord, but remember the Lord needs you.
-
Be a fully devoted, passionate follower of, Jesus love him with
-
all your heart, serving with everything you have love the
-
Bible. Pray for others.
-
Give of your resources to God through one church, and to the
-
poor, play an active part in this site here, serving making a
-
difference being on time. Being an example of the heart of
-
what we are, make your life available for the king to use.
-
I believe we're approaching a season as a church that's going
-
to require all of us. The phrase that's been alive and
-
then I'll share something at the beginning of June to the whole
-
church for months until the Harvest for months in the next
-
16 plus weeks to get ready for what God wants to do in
-
September. As we open our new site,
-
renovated in the center of Leicester.
-
As we Press On Again, in all our other sites here at the Music
-
Cafe in bronston in, At Beaumont Lee's in OB.
-
Pressing out believing God to see a harvest.
-
We need to get ready. The Lord needs you?
-
There's a requirement of you and a call from God for you to play
-
your part in the Harvest when it was Harvest Time.
-
Everybody got involved. Everybody did their part.
-
We're going to need mums and dads that are ready to nurture
-
new Christians. We're going to need more people
-
to open small groups in their homes to provide community.
-
And care and love inspiration and Outreach in a home, we're
-
going to need more people to step up and say I'm available
-
with my life. It's so important when I was
-
looking at this passage. I came to this phrase.
-
See your king comes to you. The king is returning.
-
I've heard more talk recently about the return of Jesus than
-
I've ever known. I believe Jesus is coming again,
-
and if you've not understood that he will return and however,
-
it happens every eye on the planet will see him at that
-
moment. And up to the moment, just
-
before he returns people. Being married babies are being
-
born, life will be continuing as normal.
-
It'll just be carrying on and then Jesus will return.
-
And in the middle of dramatic happenings in our world, he's
-
going to return and everything that you've built in.
-
A material sense or be left behind, and just, this is why we
-
shouldn't cling to it too much. I I'll, I love it.
-
I love my my home and I love where we live, but honestly, I'm
-
not taking it with me. Friend us.
-
We came from dust. We return.
-
Honestly, if you won't take anything with you all that you
-
have in this world, nothing wrong with an investment and the
-
pension. And for summer, if you only
-
younger is nothing wrong in preparing for your future,
-
that's good. But honestly, it's not the
-
greatest driver of Our Lives. We're living in the last days
-
and Jesus is going to come and take us home.
-
So don't be trapped by the temporary.
-
Don't spend too much time, building.
-
What will never remain. Keep your gaze up.
-
I love it. Listen, the king is returning.
-
See, your king comes to you. Keep your gaze up live for
-
others, tell as many people as you can.
-
The message of Grace and Truth in Jesus.
-
As I read it, I came to this phrase that says the disciples
-
went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
-
Do what he's told you to do. I love the Mary's Words which
-
was so powerful around our vision offering and what, a
-
dramatic miraculous time that was in our house.
-
We must not forget that last year, we lived in a number of
-
truly miraculous steps as a house.
-
And all we said to people do these words have married, The
-
Wedding, Banquet, do, whatever, Jesus tells you.
-
I love that when it comes to giving do whatever he tells.
-
You just listen to him and do what he tells you.
-
And telling the story to say, So many of what God did with us
-
during that period of time was truly amazing.
-
You know, my heart being moved by the different things that
-
happened. I want to tell you, listen, we
-
needed to see a miraculous offering in a time of great
-
challenge with people, with Rising electric prices and gas
-
prices, and a cost-of-living restriction in uncertainty,
-
still after the pandemic, how on Earth, how on Earth could we ask
-
the people at that time? One of our trustees wrote down
-
on a piece of paper. He said, I believe we should
-
believe for 25,000 pounds as a gift sovereignly, given to us
-
from outside this house. And there we were.
-
The end of October last year with that beautiful, couple from
-
Singapore, telling them a story. And I now he because he told me
-
the story he went, I said, I must go went to the bathroom,
-
got on his phone, phoned, his mission style director in
-
Singapore and says I feel I'm talking to this couple, I don't
-
know, and I feel the holy spirit in pressing on me that we we
-
should give them 25,000 pounds as a gift towards their building
-
to encourage their faith. And he came back and he told me
-
and I tell you that my are so excited.
-
I got up in this lovely hotel and danced in the room.
-
And he said to me afterwards, he said I wondered what on Earth
-
was happening in this moment. I was so moved and coming back
-
and a release of faith and seeing an offering six times
-
bigger than we've ever seen in the history of our church.
-
You know honestly it was a it was a miracle to do.
-
Whatever he tells you sometimes we've got Claire.
-
T in life and we know changes to make that he spoke to us about
-
stop talking about it and do it. Do what he's told you people to
-
be reconciled with, do it? I felt the Lord speak to me.
-
Somebody died in the city, and a friend of theirs, who fell out
-
with me and disappeared, not seen them for nearly three years
-
and I felt the Lord speak to me that I should be reconciled.
-
So I cut they're going to a different church.
-
I contacted their Minister. I said, would you How would you
-
negotiate and meeting with myself and this person so we can
-
sit down and just put things right?
-
And just about 34 weeks ago, I walked down to this other Church
-
led by a leader. I love and respect and we sat
-
together and the person was a little bit awkward.
-
And eventually we said, well what shall we do?
-
And I said to him well for anyway, I got it wrong with you,
-
forgive me, and he said, well for anyway, I got it wrong with
-
you, forgive me. And we stood up in this in this
-
church and we embraced for a long time, kingdom of God comes
-
and and then I come back home. Because the Lord spoke people
-
you need to be reconciled with challenges to embrace.
-
Do it people to tell about Jesus get on with it?
-
What to do with your resources, sort it out.
-
I sat in a missions offering just three weeks ago.
-
I've never seen anything like it.
-
These quiet, quiet Asian people. Thousands of them sat in a room
-
quietly, giving 8 million pounds for Mission, and it was almost
-
silence in the hall and me on the front row.
-
And I'm, I'm noisy with my hands raised shouting in this meeting
-
because I've never seen anything like it, moved by the generosity
-
of to give away. Do what he's told you sometimes
-
we're not sure. We'll ask for help but it's time
-
to Simply do what? He's told, you let your Hosanna
-
sound. Those that followed shouted,
-
Hosanna to the son of David. Just a few weeks ago, I listened
-
to a maandag, humid Mills, and evangelist from Ghana who
-
travels, throughout Africa, through their campaigns and
-
don't get trapped by the Numbers.
-
They've seen. Just under 1 million people come
-
to Christ and his vision that he shared with us to reach 100
-
million. Walls across Africa, through the
-
power of the gospel and such a humble man in that moment.
-
And so powerfully story and just last week, sitting with leaders
-
from 30 different European countries, God's doing
-
incredible, things across Europe and their Vision to see 100
-
million people in Europe saved over this these next few years.
-
And also me carrying my conviction that we're about to
-
come to a harvest time. And I believe As a church become
-
thousands of people, you know, and the sensor, well, I want to
-
raise my Hosanna to say save. Now, I want to lift my voice and
-
say God here in Europe, across Africa, around the world save
-
now. And the last thought I was
-
thinking, was this? It says, when Jesus entered
-
Jerusalem, the whole city was Stir.
-
Let's pray that our city is stirred. you know, here people
-
ask the question, they received an answer Why shouldn't we
-
believe here in our house and across other churches, that love
-
Jesus and Love The Gospel, that there shouldn't be a hundred
-
thousand souls in this next season across are sitting, you
-
know, on this Easter will be a bit quieter because of basically
-
things in the city haven't been got together and we don't have a
-
large venue to gather in. But in a year's time, let's
-
expect Easter to be a raw in our city next year.
-
What happened in this account was so powerful.
-
Listen, The city was in anticipation Jesus humbly, rides
-
in on Palm Sunday, knowing the cross was before him in on a
-
donkey, as the prince of peace and the Cry of the people
-
Hosanna and the image of God's answer for the world, the anger
-
of the religious spirit, because the king of the universe had
-
arrived at his place of Destiny and for us just out this same
-
passage. Let's keep walking in the plan
-
of God. For our lives.
-
Stop looking at what he's not saying and remind yourself of
-
what he's already said. Live in that, go to the Village
-
ahead of you. It's what he has two disciples
-
to do. He asks you to do, you have
-
influenced the squeak probably with dozens and dozens of people
-
don't forget. It make the most of it, the Lord
-
needs you just like he needed the Donkey.
-
The king is returning. Do what he's told you to do.
-
Let your Hosanna shall. And let's pray.
-
That the city has stood. Let's Stand Together, shall we?
-
The most momentous time in the history of humanity?
-
This was the beginning of it. The next few days the next few
-
days, as Jesus prepared to go to the cross.
-

-

-
for the example of humility. We're so thankful that you
-
fulfilled, the father's plan so that we can be here.
-
This morning saved by grace and all.
-
We pray in the same way that Jerusalem was stirred.
-
All those pilgrims there, all those individuals, how many of
-
them found you? You that will hear of one day.
-
But father, we pray that in our city you might come and stir.
